alright. know what? with Secrets of the Obscure right around the corner and plenty of new Mists-related sky island settings coming with it, I'll just bite the bullet and interest-check a little something I've been turning in my head for a long, long while.
would YOU be interested in a Mists-based GW2 roleplay guild that uses a lore compliant multiverse system to allow canon, canon-adjacent, lore-breaking, and otherwise 'contradictory' muses to coexist in the same setting?
simply put: every writer's cast would be set in their own self-contained universe. as such, everyone could bring whatever muses they want with their own personal headcanons, and no one could dictate what is or isn't canon for anyone else. so long as your muses are GW2-based, you're good to go! bring your Commanders, bring your canon-divergent OCs, bring your canon muses-- and yes, even the ones that are 'supposed' to be dead. who can say what might have happened in a strange world far across the Mists, after all?
neutral hubs and in-character safety guardrails would be in place to keep all muses on a relatively even playing field regardless of their power, history, and prestige, too. play hardball if you like, but it might not end quite the way you'd hope. the main rule would be to maintain good OOC etiquette at all times: no godmodding, no metagaming, no theft, don't blend IC and OOC, and so-on.
if that sounds like something you might have interest in, please interact with this post! and if you've got questions or concerns, I'd love to hear them; feel free to send an ask or a DM, or just reply to this post!

So yesterday my partner and I went to Target because we still have snow and spring is a Lie™️
We found this:
What made us buy it though, was the promise of 11 unique character mini figures, of which included Ashoka. (There’s also a ton of little battle droids and some trade federation ships, the like circle kind.)
I wasn’t expecting much, but they are actually very detailed despite how small they are!
(Mace and Yoda are out of frame lol.)
And the cards! There’s loads of well known clones, like Cody, Rex, and Fives, but tons of lesser known clones!
And look! Hondo! Clone Force 99! They are special ally cards with unique properties! (Echo has his own card dressed in 501st gear.)
The game is this: You pick a difficulty and an enemy, and build the board accordingly. We fought against Ventress, who runs around the board so much we lost the first time against her!
The game can get a bit emotional though; at one point my partner had Fives and Echo in his hand, and had to discard one because he took damage. So he discarded Echo. Just like the show 🥲 Besides any emotional conflict you may suffer while playing, it’s a lot of fun!
I was worried it’d be too big and complex to understand, but after our first game we got the hang of it really quick. The instruction pamphlet is clear and in-depth. Any questions we had that weren’t directly addressed in the instructions we figured out from the cards we drew. (I know that sounds odd but it makes sense in relation to the gameplay.)
As for length, our second game was around two hours? Not too long compared to some other board games out there.
Honestly, This is the game for clone lovers.

GLAD STREAM WENT SMOOTHLY THIS TIME had so much fun!!
BUT NOOOOOOO SOME OF YOUR FRAMING AND ANGLES REMINDED ME... We finished Hero recently so we rewatched Hero SP and watched the "sequel"… Hero SP is still my favorite thing to come out of it by far TBH but I was happy to see Nakai's character back in the latter [he's got this starting-to-grey beard, so Obviously I Was Thinking About Arakawa Aging In The Years Ichi Was Gone, and also he's smiling almost every second he's on-screen so I was :] ].
At the same time, because Takita's a Sympathetic Antagonist Who Went To Prison Returning In A Sequel… it put the fear of God in me with regard to Jo coming back because [spoilers </3] Takita's only in it for two-and-a-half scenes and he has cancer… I would say One Fear but again I have MANY FEARS when it comes to Jo and honestly MOST OF THEM are about not getting a satisfactory resolution [if there has to be one], like Aoki. I'd already made my peace with him not coming back at all in 2019 [2018 if I'm counting RGGJo]… pleeease don't do him dirty that's my emotional support shitty old bitch 😭😭😭
Extremely specific worries aside here are Nakai's dogs Kurumi and Pairan as promised :] Kurumi means walnut... if you even care...
STREAM WORKING MEANS I DIDNT HAVE TO PICK UP ICE FISHING YIPPEE !!!!!!!!
ABOUT JO THO AND HIS INEVITABLE-RETURN-BUT-UNCERTAIN FATE.... we can only wait... rgg wont let me in their basement anymore i cant leak secrets as to what could happen to him- at the very least i hope the rgg team understands people like satisfactory, Non Bullshit endings to character arcs.... so here's to hoping he gets that if possible :] if not uhhhh hope he gets the least cringe exit from the series :]]
BUT NAKAI'S DOGS HELLOOOOO THEY'RE BABIES I LOVE THEM HIIII !!!!!!! THEIR NAMES ARE SO CUTE PAIRAN AND CHESTNUT..... im ashamed to admit i already knew 'kurumi' meant chestnut.... as krillin's name from dragon ball derives from 'kuri'.... that doesnt make the name any less cute it makes them better TO ME (❁´▽`❁)

hey! i am consistently in awe of your work, i genuinely adore it (I’d love to get prints of some of your pieces if that’s available anywhere 👀) but im writing to ask abt your technique and brushes! Im new to digital art, and i wanna create the sort of effect you make and i cannot for the life of me figure out how to do it! you have these strokes that look sort of like charcoal but also paint? also refracted light???? idk what program u use or anything and im just a noob still learning how to get the most out of the brushes that come w procreate, but even if you’re using a different program and stuff, I’d love to see if there’s anyway i can translate that effect somehow to the tools I’m using. It’s really cool stuff!! im sorry if you’ve already answered this somewhere 😅
hey! ok first off take anything i say with a grain of salt because 1. i'm self taught 2. there are many many ways to do art, there's no One Right Way. experiment and settle on what works best for you!
atm I basically only use procreate on ipad with an apple pencil.
I've compiled the brushes I use most into this post click here, I'd say download some sets and try them out! this seems to be a bit of an unpopular opinion because I regularly see advice to stick to the basic brushes however if you were making traditional art you wouldn't unnecessarily limit yourself to the cheapest brushes/paints either (assuming you could afford everything), so. go ham.
the main technique I use is a pretty common one where I use a big textured brush and then use a base color layer + clipping masks (you can google how to use these) or selection tool to get sharp edges. so I'll make a selection of the shape I want to paint and then paint within that selection. i often do this with light strokes and/or the brush on lower opacity so i'll keep texture. if you look at concept artists on instagram you'll see this technique used a lot too :) 'edge control' is a term to google to find more about hard/soft edges and how they'll improve your art!
for the light, even for digital art I would very very much recommend james gurney's book 'color and light' because it teaches you almost all you need to know about, well, color and light, and you can apply these principles to digital art too. it's well worth the price but if you can't afford it then there are perhaps some copies to be found online ;) for the actual method in procreate, I like to use layers on the add and screen blending modes, sparingly, and NOT with white highlights but with the actual color of the light e.g. yellow, blue-ish, etc. for stuff like wings, it's usually multiple layers stacked on top of each other!
(i am not organized)
as a final note i will add that i painted traditionally for years before starting digital art, so i do think that'll have influenced my approach in a couple ways because i basically took all that knowledge and methods into digital rather than starting from scratch.

ok hello friends I'm finally ready to be normal again after extensive jet lag and also being a million years behind in chores
korea 2022 reflections! (long)
overall, I had such a good trip! I was so lucky to have jenny @madame-anaca as my travel partner who is a total gem to travel with and also like my jaeger pilot match in terms of being chill vs. flexible vs. responsible vs. down to do things on a trip
it's been....20 years......since I've been back in the motherland and it was such an experience to come back as an outsider with my now-american passport and rusty korean but it was also a lot of fun!!! we did so much!!! we ate so much good food!!! I wish I had like 3 more weeks to spend there bc there's just So much
highlights:
hangeul museum my beloved. lots of other museums too but as someone with a definitely normal amount of thots and feelings about the korean alphabet this one was definitely my favorite! I maybe almost didn't not cry at several points in the museum, 😭😭
food....esp street food....I ate so well the entire time I was there (more on this below)
hallasan, and jeju island in general. beautiful seascapes! tangerine picking! such good seafood! this is me halfway up our 5-hour hike, before our legs decided to betray us and fuck off into misery
palaces and culture villages in seoul! dressing up in hanbok! not to be annoying but there were about 50000 points throughout our tour where I did stop to be like "hey I think I saw that building in a drama once"
also our hanboks were so cute and we saw a bunch of other people (both koreans and westerners) wearing them, some even matching, which was very cool to see!
despite being somewhat forced into it bc of Weird Family Dynamics it was kind of nice to spend time with family I haven't sen in a while, even though I'm not really close with most of them at all
it was v awkward bc my korean isn't quite at the level where I can like. Assert Opinions and Participate in Adult Conversations meaningfully so there was a certain amount of polite smiling and nodding I had to do as I was lectured about how I had to make investments to be more financially successful or how I needed to look out for good men to marry or whatever the fuck, but you know. I also got to hang out with my older (still younger than me) cousins which is always nice
also all 3 of my aunts and uncles on my mom's side took turns inviting me over to their houses and treating me to dinner, which I can't complain about, esp considering some of them are like. incredibly loaded and had super fancy apartments
like. my oldest uncle apparently lives in the same apartment complex as IU. fucking IU,
anyway
food . . .
I had bbq like at least 5 different times on my trip. lmfao. jeju black pork 5-layer pork belly ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
waited in line for like an hour for michelin approved naengmyeon and it was SO good holy shit. it was hot as balls the entire time we were in korea and it was so refreshing and perfect and well seasoned and good
fast food & street food!!!! chapssal donuts, garlic nurungji dakgangjeong, bindaetteok fresh out of the fryer, multiple different kinds of hotteok, hodugwaja, gyeranppang, sikhye........also chimaek ofc, and the bulgogi burger at mcdonald's. chefs kiss.
korean cafes and bakeries......deserve their own bullet point.......I ate so many sweets.....drank so much many good coffee and coffee-adjacent drinks........I will def miss the flavors of black sesame, injeolmi, sweet potato, sweet pumpkin, chestnut, and sweet red bean everywhere,,,
even the convenient store food...so good. not only onigiri (my beloved) but also I tried both the egg & potato salad versions of the inkigayo sandwich and they slapped. also a honey garlic egg salad sandwich that I'm going to have DREAMS about
also snacks!!!! 꼬깔콘 flavored pepero and 죠리퐁 lattes were two of my favorites but also injeolmi turtle shells....honey butter dried sweet potatoes......bottled asian bear juice......peach and green grape flavored beverages.....hello.......
things that did NOT go as planned:
I was so excited to see the death note musical with possibly the original cast (hong kwang ho/junsu) which just HAPPENED!!! to have been brought back for like a month!!!!! exactly the time that I would be in korea!!!!! but they ended up being completely sold out on the only day I would have been able to go, RIP 🥲🥲🥲 I would have reserved ahead of time but the ticketing website is a NIGHTMARE to use for foreign visitors so I was banking on being able to buy tickets on site but nope,
speaking of performances I missed, rolling quartz was supposed to do their first solo concert last week and I was gonna go but my family decided that actually, I'm going to be spending time with them instead so I was forced to miss it lmao 🙃🙃🙃
just in general, a lot of individual things on our trip were closed or modified due to COVID, not that it severely impacted our trip but we really had to both plan carefully and be prepared to change plans if something doesn't work out last minute
but other things that DID go super well:
as a consolation for not being able to go to death note my uncle bought me and my cousins tickets to the korean production of next to normal which was AMAZING, I forgot how much I loved this musical
I had to keep myself from sobbing bc I could tell my cousins were not as into it as I was. lmfao. but inside I was feeling every single emotion by the final scene
man. I'm still over the moon that I got into oneus's the show prerecording. I wasn't allowed to take pictures inside the studio unfortunately but it was a treat to watch! now that I kind of know what I'm doing I'm gonna have to look out for other opportunities to watch music show recordings next time I'm in seoul
speaking of oneus they also happened to be doing this promotional event at this themed popup cafe thing in myeongdong?? it was cute, there were a bunch of little stations with activities and things, and videos/posters/photos displayed throughout. I ordered some snacks and they gave me these little cards with seoho's and ravn's faces on them
just like. in general. seoul is a good place to be as a hallyu fan lmao.....like bless jenny for putting up with me stopping to point out when a song I liked was randomly playing or an actor/idol I liked was on an advertisement or something. which happened, and I cannot emphasize this enough, a lot
also with a little bit of digging I did manage to find (the otherwise sold out) lightsticks for both oneus and dreamcatcher in some random merch stores 😌😌 for way cheaper than what I would have paid on ebay not even including shipping 😌😌😌 I'm going to the dc concert in SF in july so I am PUMPED to be able to use this bad boy
I mean look at this thing. it's beautiful. and it even came with the extension rods so I can make it stupidly long like this. does this not fucking rule
anyway I miss seoul a lot and I want to go back immediately, I've already talked about going at some point with my mom and brother and I cannot wait
