accidentally bigoted. - im sorry but let's be so fucking real here. he's a 40 something year old man who spent the majority of his life in either the military, a police training academy in the 90's, or otherwise working under the U.S Federal System with minimal/no time between missions to unpack absolutely everything he's got going on... the guys gonna have some problematic tendencies. Obviously that doesn't mean he means any of that or is incapable of change, etc. etc., but I know for damn certain this dude would laugh a little at Bill Burr's borderline to blatantly misogynistic material and has probably chuckled unironically at the attack helicopter jokes. But, he's not a complete dick, and would definitely become more critical of those kinds of jokes if it's pointed out to him.

honest to God, Dad Without Kids™ - it's not simply enough for me to leave it at 'but it's the vibes!!' so, I'm gonna break this shit down. Leon is absolutely Gen X incarnate. I can fucking guarantee you that on his off days he accidentally ends up dressing as an undercover cop; I'm talking cargo shorts, light blue button up, those fucking standard issue boots cus "they're perfectly good shoes" and those stupid ass sunglasses... you know the ones I'm talking about. Let's say you're living with him, right? And you're... you, and you wanna watch something on TV. This dude would strain himself getting up like a turtle fallen backwards on its shell, stand up, walk right in front of the TV screen and stand there with his hands on his hips. It doesn't matter that he had to piss, he needs to get a better look of what's happening! Does those really loud, obnoxious coughs and sneezes, absolutely blows his back out doing one at least five times a year.

Only watches British Reality TV - Considering he's canonically a film buff, I'll say that this is purely for whatever he gravitates towards on general streaming services. I honestly don't see him being the type to regularly tune in to standard American cable TV, or only does so under specific circumstances like American Ninja Warrior or maybe Forged in Fire if there's absolutely nothing else. It's not something that's exclusive to Americans, — I'm from New Zealand and I do this too, — but Leon absolutely falls into the category of watching British Reality and Game shows purely because of the accents. I'm talking Jeremy Kyle, The Big Fat Quiz of Everything, Taskmaster, The Great British Bake Off and so on and so forth. It doesn't matter that baking isn't his forté or a passion of his, if Josephine curdles her buttercream by over mixing, his hands are in his hair in utter disappointment. 100% tries to mimic their accents too. We all do it, don't lie.

Has... very dated music tastes - I don't know if you could guess, but the last paragraph included me calling myself out and name dropping some shows I watch anyway or grew up watching, and I'm just saying that this is gonna be no different. If anything? This'll be worse! Since I'm very passionate about the music I listen to and have the inability to keep my interests separated from the other, of course my love of particular bands will bleed over into my interpretation of Leon's character! Anyway, all that for me to say that Leon fucking LOVES 90's grunge musicians, specifically Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, as well as early nu metal bands like Korn (their dubstep phase did not happen.), TOOL, and Rage Against the Machine — and no, he unfortunately doesn't see the irony of him being a fed and listening to Rage, — but would also have a soft spot for psych rock, post-punk and shoegaze. My man's definitely laid awake at night, sobbing without expression as he struggles to accept that Ada never really wanted him like he wanted her while listening to fucking Slowdive. My hottest take here is that he doesn't really listen to Deftones. Like he'll occasionally blast My Own Summer, Change, Bored or Rosemary, but anything outside of those? He just didn't listen to 'em. My second hottest take is that he does NOT like Slipknot, which kind of pains me 'cus I do, but I fucking bet you this dude would actually adopt one piece of "Gen Z lingo" or whatever just call them cringe. Though admittedly he would've been jamming the fuck out to Psychosocial and The Devil in I when they came out. Went off the deep end in Vendetta, obviously, and drunk-cried himself to sleep on the couch listening to Linkin Park.

Very confusing spending habits - On one hand, we all understand that Leon came from money, — he was implied to have been born into a mob family from my understanding? And I doubt he'd ever really had to worry about being fully, irrevocably broke, — but I'm sure that growing up in the U.S Foster Care System made him at least a little more cautious of where his money comes from, where it's going, what he's spending it on, etc. So, on the one hand, he's apprehensive to spend recklessly, particularly on perishables. But also, if he can drop over $100,000USD on a motorcycle that got absolutely fucking cheese grated into the road, and spend a perceived, metric fuck ton of money on designer leather jackets and massive watches, it's gonna be hard for me to call him 'financially conscious'. On one hand, he gets apprehensive on spending more money than he needs to on food since he's "just gonna shit it out later", but if he sees a cool watch or a nice suit in a shop window? Money's suddenly not an issue! Not because he's materialistic, but because the one thing he really maintains a sense of control over in his life are his possessions and the way he dresses. The D.S.O can call him in for another months long mission whenever they please, and all he can realistically do is allow the government to tug on his leash and put him where he's needed. He may as well spend their money on things he wants!

Gets out... enough? But also, not really? - So, personally I've pegged Leon as more of an introverted person, — amateurly typed his MBTI as possibly ISFJ? — so he doesn't really feel the need to go out and meet new people or really hang out with anyone. If somebody invites him out? Sure, he'll go. Otherwise, it rarely occurs to him to meet up with friends or colleagues at a cafe or anywhere. I think he'd prefer to just go there alone, mostly for the sake of having somebody else cook for him as opposed to actively seeking out the atmosphere. It's pure convience in his mind. And remember when I said in the beginning about him accidentally being at least a little misogynistic? Yeah, that was me trying to say that he regularly tries to hit on younger waitresses. Not because he actually wants anything to do with them, but simply because it's an ego boost. He likes that he can make girls half his age blush or offer him their numbers, because it tells him that he's still desirable, and ultimately, that gives him the power to reject them politely and go about the rest of his day. If they don't reject him first, of course. Admittedly, Leon's audacity towards women peaked during Infinite Darkness.

What music genres do you think the batfam members listen to?I ask this because of how little Alternative music fan headcannons there are. I personally think Tim enjoys grunge and or nu metal(Specifically bands like limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Korn, and System of a Down)

I'm not too familiar with genres, so I'll be giving this my best shot. I typically listen to music by the vibe it gives. My playlists include music that makes my brain go brr (the nice dissociation), songs for muses, ones to scandalize my mother, music a garage band would play, songs that make God fear me, and a long playlist for pleasant company.

Anyways, I've seen a few fics where people say that Bruce and Tim share a love of those genres. I could definitely see Tim listening to the ones you mentioned. He probably plays it through his preferred headphones as he fixes electronics, codes, or plots destruction. He also, because he suppresses his anger a lot, probably listens to music like Ghostemane, Kim Dracula, and Freddie Dredd.

Jason definitely enjoys musicals. Dick as well, but Jason isn't as vocal about it. Instead, Jason will listen to 80's rock and 2000's girl bands if others around (he ofc listens to TLC).

I like to think that they all enjoy music in different languages. For Dick and Damian, they especially like music they grew up listening to in their respective cultures. The others, because the batfam is multilingual, just enjoy all kinds of different tunes in multiple languages. The batfam playlist, especially for hanging out in the cave, is chaotic. Bruce nearly had an aneurysm the first time he heard Touch You (Yarichin Bitch Club) over the speakers. The only reason the kids didn't get in trouble was because Damian was out with Colin at the time.

I hc that Cass likes lofi hip hop music. She typically enjoys all songs but prefers those without words (because understanding words still requires energy from her and can prevent her from fully relaxing). She does listen to a lot of classical music, a passion she shares with Alfred.

Alfred, the man the myth the legend, enjoys swing music the most. He'll put on a variety of music in the kitchen (different classical eras, opera music, the occasional musical, jazz, some more modern instrumental music, and some movie background tracks), but the whole fam knowns he's in a really good mood if swing music is playing.

Bruce is the type of person to just listen to what's on. Unless he dislikes the music, he will be fine with whatever his kids or Alfred have playing. He particularly enjoys alternative rock and old country music (like Garth Brooks), but he doesn't usually fight for the aux cord.

Barbara has playlists depending on her mood. Birds of Prey mission prep? Bruce being a dick? Dick being a dick? Batfam drama she has to once again intervene in? Coding nights? Can't get out of bed days? She also has a few playlists for each person she regularly interacts with. For calm or bad nights, she'll put the playlist in that person's comm. She also likes to hack speakers around Bruce and play her revenge music when he's being a petty asshole. Some of her revenge music includes "They're Coming to Take Me Away" by Sloppy Jane, "OoOo1" by galen tipton, "All I see is Poop" by Hobo Johnson, "I Swallowed Shampoo" by Soupy Garage Juice, "I am now going to bark at you" by thquib, and "I hope You Die in a Fire" by Grand Commander.

Duke is most definitely a Mitski, Hozier, Crane Wives enjoyer, and you can pry that hc from my cold, dead hands. He probably also likes songs similar to "Ancapistan" by Jreg or "The Fine Print" by The Stupendium.

Dick's music is either super high in energy or sad as fuck. He loves the songs "Has Anbody Seen My Will to Live" by The Tin Knees and "Copacabana (At the Copa)" by Barry Manilow because they are both sad and happy :) I hc that he likes songs by TV Girl, Yot Club, Joji, and Cosmo Sheldrake. He also has a few playlists he follows of Zumba music. The song "The Masochism Tango" by Tom Lehrer is one of his favorites.

in one of the character videos, Nodt mentions that Big grew up around Kinn - my headcanon is that this is because his father was a high-ranking bodyguard who, when Big was a teenager, was killed either protecting Kinn's mother or during Tankhun's kidnapping. Big had spent a little bit of time on the compound when his father was alive, but after his death left Big orphaned, Big didn't really have anywhere else to go. he was small and kind of scrappy but could mostly look after himself and was willing to learn to fight, so Korn let him stay on the compound so he could start training him up as Kinn's future bodyguard.

he's a similar age to Kinn (maybe 6 months or so younger) and the two of them got on well growing up. Big fell for Kinn pretty young, and though nothing ever happened between them, they did come close a few times. I think as a teenager Kinn genuinely liked and was attracted to Big, but he never let anything happen because he knew Big was being trained to be his bodyguard and so his father wouldn't like it - and until Porsche came along, there wasn't anything Kinn wanted more than his father's approval. Kinn liked Big, but not enough to risk everything for him.

Big becoming Kinn’s bodyguard officially and Kinn entering a relationship with Tawan put a lot of strain on their friendship. eventually, when Big started to suspect that Tawan was working with the Italians, he brought his concerns to Arm - who helped him get hold of email/phone evidence. Big being able to see Tawan's betrayal when Kinn couldn’t made Kinn start to resent Big. it was the nail in the coffin for their friendship.

🏳️‍🌈 he's gay. 🏳️‍🌈 he's never hidden it - Kinn knows, all the other bodyguards know - which makes Porsche accusing him of being a homophobe especially funny.

he's hopelessly in love with Kinn, but that doesn't mean he's never been with other men. he’s never been in a relationship, but especially in his early twenties, when Kinn was seeing Tawan, he had a few one night stands on his days off.

he shares a room with Ken ("... and they were roommates!") and the two of them are good friends (with benefits. maybe. 👀) but they never talk to each other about anything serious because they're both allergic to feelings.

he's also friends with Arm, and the two of them play a lot of video games together in their free time. mostly first person shooters, but enough Mario Kart for Big to have strong feelings about the best vehicle specs (also he mains King Boo).

Big and Tankhun have always really got on each other's nerves. they just find each other exceptionally irritating - and Big holds some level of a grudge against Tankhun because of the situation Kinn is now in.

Big canonically has Nodt's 'humble' tattoo - perhaps it was a trait Kinn complimented Big on a few times when they were younger :(

David listens to like, classic 90s rock. Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins - that whole lot. He also really likes classic, OG 80s metal (metallica, judas priest, dio, etc.). He developed his music taste from 95 to 99 and never really got into stuff after that. Hes a grumpy old man about his music and will never stray from his ol reliable stack of dusty CDs. Where he's a grandpa about his music though, this man will watch basically any movie that comes out and say "that was pretty good" in his opinion cinema peaked with 2001 a Space Odyssey and Saving Private Ryan. Hal tried to show him Akira or Ghost in the Shell and he got wayyyyyy confused. He doesn't really watch TV other than blankly staring at history channel and animal planet "documentaries" and manly man reality TV shows when there's nothing better to do

Hal has a really eclectic collection of music that is constantly changing. However the most common thread of music he likes is 80s New Wave and synth - The Smiths, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Joy Division, Duran Duran. That kinda stuff. However his playlist went on to be full of vocaloid songs, neo-synthwave, break core and he got into more experimental stuff as he got older (even then he never fully dug deep, just started listening to Bjork and Kate Bush yk?) He also loves soundtracks and *loves* lofi hip hop. We already basically know Hal's taste in movies/tv so instead im gonna say his favorite anime movie is Akira, his favorite non-anime movie is Brazil and if you ask him his favorite anime he'll go on and on and on about a super obscure mecha anime from the 80s. I think hes a massive cinephile and huge nerd about his movies and shows but it's literally only for anime and sci fi and occasionally action stuff. Ask him about the complexities of Apocalypse Now or the symbolism in Blue Velvet and he'll just give you a blank stare.

Sunny ended up with like. The weirdest combination of her parents tastes. She LOVESSSSS vocaloid and LOVESSSS anime but in a tweenager in the mid 2010s way you know. This girl was in the Black Butler, Attack on Titan, Fairy Tale, Soul Eater TRENCHES. She also got into a lot of alt music but it was. you know. Fall Out Boy and Panic at the Disco and baby's first alt band stuff. What a crazy lil gal.

Raiden was a nu-metal kid big time. He was always bumping Korn and Slipknot and System of a Down. He was also really into 90s industrial like Rammstein, Nine Inch Nails, and KMFDM. He kinda grew out of this but not really, just mellowed out and got into more 'mainstream' alt like Radiohead and Elliot Smith. As we know, Raiden is a canonical filmbro (getting into fights with random women about pointless details in movies). I think he lovessssss neo noir and crime thrillers. Anything dark and gritty he just adores. Taxi Driver, Fight Club, Fallen Angels, Clockwork Orange, Crash, Prisoners <- whatevere this genre is he just eats that shit up. Hes a total snob, but not like. In a french film school way in a over 500 entries on letterboxd way. He's subscribed to like evry major movie review channel and it's impossible to take him out to any kinoplex because he just starts ranting on the state of modern cinema. He still maintains this snobbery and its only gotten worse lmao

Leomie loved songs with guitar solos and catchy riffs, because they reminded her of Hobie.

She was currently obsessed with Helmet by Steve Lacy, especially it’s riff during the bridge.

“Hobes!” She burst through his door.

He laid on his bed shirtless in nothing but shorts, staring up at his poster plastered ceiling. His gaze met hers. “Yeah?”

This was the usual for him. They always strolled through each other’s room, no knocking, or even a holler before entering.

“Can you play this song for me?” Leomie plopped beside Hobie with her phone out, tapping her screen.

His plump lips formed a smirk. This was nothing new to him.

He picked up his guitar that was mounted horizontally on the wall, then plugged it into the amp that was near his bed. “Let me hear it.” Hobie laid back on his bed with his hand out.

“This is the riff during the bridge.” She handed him the phone. Her eyes focused on his slim toned body.

Hobie tuned his guitar, then strummed it repeatedly as he listened to the song on Leomie’s phone. “D9..C major7.” He muttered while plucking strings.

Her eyes followed his fingers, going up and down the neck of the guitar. She thought he looked hot playing his guitar, it was attractive how focused he was.

Hobie then looked up at her with a loud chuckle from his throat, bringing her out of her trance. “This is easy, come on now, Leo!”

She instantly grew annoyed. “I don’t know how to play the damn instrument!”

He rolled his eyes. “I’d teach you, ya know that. You’re just a lazy arse.”

She held her chest in offense. “You’re right, but ya didn’t have to say it.” She threw playful punches at him.

He laughed, covering himself from the punches with his long muscular arms.

This was a regular night to them, Leomie always went to Hobie and made requests for him to play riff, which turned into a full on concert in his bedroom. Hobie was nothing but happy to do it. Oh how he loved to see the smile in her eyes and on her kissable lips.

He’d jumped on his bed, strumming the chords of Freaking Out The Neighborhood by Mac DeMarco, as Leomie sat on the ground, gazing up at him, singing the lyrics.

“This is for the pengest girl in the crowd!” He shouted loudly, pointing at Leomie.

She’d smile and blush uncontrollably at his words, making him smile right back.

Hobie went on his knees, leaning towards her. She followed his actions, their lips touching each other’s.

It was a light kiss, nothing too intense.

Leomie’s lips grazed against Hobie’s lip ring, which she thought was so cute.

She could taste the weed he inhaled before she came into his room, right on his tongue. She loved it.

Hobie smirked in the kiss, feeling Leomie’s tongue licking his lips.

She slowly pulled away, catching her breath. “Hobie.”

“Yeah?” His eyes were on nothing but her.

“I have one more request.”

“Yeah?”

“Fuck me.”

“Your wish is my command, sweetheart.”

What draws you to extreme music? I know you grew up in a metal scene pretty much and later rediscovered the genre for yourself so, what draws you to it?

What do you think could help more people enjoy the music? Not that everyone should listen to metal but I feel there's a lot to be enjoyed in it.

This is a good question! The answer is probably multifaceted. I like how it sounds, is a major part. I like fast music, I like technical drumming, I like guitar-heavy music that uses a lot of effects, and I like the way harsh vocals sound, broadly.

A lot of getting into it was pretty personal. I was very insecure as a tween, I felt like I struggled to connect to kids my age. I was also fat, starting to realize I wasn't straight, poor and half-white in a majority white and middle class public school system. Put simply: I felt rejected by everything and everyone already. The reaction I had to that was to embrace things that reflected how I felt. Harsh, aggressive music and horror movies and comic books and other stuff no one I knew really liked. Music with dark lyrics and extreme sounds felt really comforting to me - I wasn't that tough, I felt horribly sensitive and awkward, but the music I liked was confident and it didn't care if you liked it or not.

There's something really special and powerful to be said about being a metalhead. Most of the people I know and interact with on a daily basis don't like metal or at least they're not that passionate about it. By contrast, going to a metal show and being surrounded by people who love this shit the same way you do feels really, really good

Not sure really what would help other people get into it, besides exploring different genres. One of the other things I really love about metal is that there's dozens of subgenres. Pig Destroyer and Iron Maiden and Korn and Windhand and Epica and Red Fang and Immortal are all metal bands and they all sound totally different! I love that!

You just posted a lovely ArmKhun fic—they’re such a fun rarepair. Do you have any dearly-held headcanons for these two?

I'm so happy you enjoyed my Arm/Tankhun fic — they are one of my favorite KinnPorsche rarepairs and the first one to really capture my heart while I was watching the show!

I'm thrilled that you asked this because I have SO many headcanons for these two, both separately and together. In no particular order, they include:

Tankhun picked out Pol and Arm to be his bodyguards because they are the tallest bodyguard and the shortest bodyguard respectively, and he finds their height disparity amusing. The fact that their personalities meshed well with his was a complete coincidence.

I have backstory headcanons for all the bodyguards that I have imagined so vividly at this point that sometimes I forget they're not canon. My headcanon for Arm is that he was in the military for a couple years before Chan recruited him to come work for Korn. That's where he got his weapons-handling training. It also means that Arm is a trained field medic, which you can see in the way he rushes in when Porsche has been drugged and when Big [rest of sentence lost in incoherent sobbing]. He has some experience helping people manage PTSD because of this, which gives him real empathy for Tankhun and makes him essential when Tankhun's in crisis.

After Kinn announces that he's in love with Porsche, Tankhun marches directly to the equipment office and is like ARM DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS?? Arm, who has been catching them on the CCTV for weeks and is dying to talk about it with someone, already has a highlight reel of "Kinn and Porsche being unsubtle all over the house" edited together and ready to go (he's kept it PG-13 because he's classy like that and because he doesn't want Kinn to actually murder him). Arm and Tankhun watch the whole thing together with popcorn and much squealing in delight and horror, following which Tankhun storms up to Kinn's room like KINN! WE EAT ON THAT TABLE KINN!

Arm grew up watching lakorns with his mom and grandma and loves them. I mentioned this in Brave Enough for Everything but he's the only bodyguard who actually doesn't mind all the TV.

I also alluded to this in the fic, but Tankhun finds Arm's street clothes genuinely, painfully distressing. After they're together, they have a protracted battle about the degree to which Arm is willing to let Tankhun dress him, which results in Arm staying a lot more normcore than Tankhun would like but at least he's wearing some bright colors sometimes and his clothes fit him properly now.

Arm and Tankhun stayed up all night making the glitter-bomb robots from the finale. Tankhun thought his dad was dead and knew they were on the brink of war with the minor family, and Arm invented this Battle Craft basically on the fly to give him something to focus on and keep him from spiraling out.

Speaking of which — do you ever think about how in the finale, when Erika comes out with guns blazing, Arm and Tankhun are right there in the office behind her? They're in lockdown right behind that wall, listening to their friends and Tankhun's brother get shot at, watching on the CCTV. There's no universe where Arm isn't holding Tankhun tight for all of that.

I know there are more — I could talk about these good good boys all day — but this is getting long and those are the ones off the top of my head. What are your favorite ArmKhun headcanons?

See You On the Other Side, by Korn. I know it’s not the usual pick for favorite Korn album, but it’s the first one I listened to all the way through and I’m very attached to it. The art for this one is also pretty sick. Plus it has the best fuckin bonus tracks of all the Korn albums.

Slipknot, by Slipknot. My favorite Slipknot album swings between this one and The Subliminal Verses, but right now it’s this one. Just pure nu metal rage and hatred.

Fallen, by Evanescence. My mom bought this album by chance when I was a toddler and I grew up listening to it. It was my introduction to metal, particularly nu metal. Extremely formative. I have a lot of fondness for it.

Welcome to Horrorwood: The Silver Scream 2, by Ice Nine Kills. It’s a metal album about horror movies, of course my dumbass is gonna love it. And I definitely prefer it to the first Silver Scream. I think it shows the band's skills and versatility better.

Black Labyrinth, by Jonathan Davis. What do I even say about this one. It’s fucking amazing. The different world instruments really make this album feel special, and of course I fucking love JD’s voice.

The Nothing, by Korn. Conveys the entire mood of the album so, so fucking well. The fact that the human figure is both made of wires and tangled in them creates this sense of being inescapably, innately trapped. It creates this sense of escape being impossible, that it’s pointless to even try. It feels dark and bleak and twisted. And that’s perfect for the songs on this album. It’s understated, but I think it’s just so damn effective.

The Bitter Truth, by Evanescence. Okay, this is another one I like because it’s simple but effective. Is it maybe a bit on the nose? Sure. But it works. It very much demonstrates the concept of the bitter truth being a nasty little pill you have to swallow. That’s the whole point of the album’s title, themes, and hell even its release date. The little X_X face on the pill feels a bit tongue in cheek too, which I like.

Mother, by In This Moment. I’ve only listened to couple songs on this album but I really like the cover art. I’m a sucker for religious imagery and themes, but I love that the cover conveys the album's undertones without overtly displaying traditional religious symbols like crosses or what have you. Instead, we get a halo-like crown and figures in pristine white. Figures that look a lot like ghosts – and that ghostliness, along with the dark tangled roots reaching up to the central figure, also suggest death and decay. Idk man I like the vibe.

Steal This Album!, by System of a Down. I don’t have anything deep to say here. This cover’s just cool and fun as hell.

Bleed the Sky, by Reveille. Have I ever listened to Reveille? No (though I intend to eventually, they’re on my list). But I don’t care. This album cover is sexy as hell. The colors are delicious, that orange is delicious, it feels kind of sexual, and I want to eat it. That is all.
