Tell me everything!
FANFIC WRITERS - DIRECTOR'S CUT: ask me everything you've ever wanted to know about the behind-the-scenes of my stories
obviously, my bread and butter atm is hellfire & ice so i'll give you five scoops on that, nonny!!
⭐ - daddy issues r us - hellfire & ice very much positions hawkins as a town that has a sign at the border that says if you had daddy issues, you'd be home by now! i go nutty bananas bonkers crazy for the exploration of genetic fate-what we were given by our parents and can we outrun it-and i'm excited to explore it further not only with lacy and her dad, but eddie and al munson too.
as it stands right now, we're seeing that eddie is much more like his mom, elizabeth and lacy is much more like her father (who you'll learn more about). however, eddie lives with the constant crushing fear that he'll become his dad (which i thought was really well illustrated in flight of icarus) and lacy has become a completely vicious overachiever in order to avoid becoming her mother, who she views as an ex-beauty queen floundering in complacency. the internalized misogyny is unfortunately strong with this one. but in a town so small where almost no one gets out, can these two crazy kids avoid becoming embroiled in the dodgy enterprises masterminded by their fathers??? stay tuned and find out!!!
⭐ - lacy's wardrobe - i've mentioned this in The Narrative but lacy's wardrobe takes a drastic turn from nancy thompson from nightmare on elm street to a slightly goth-ier anna karina, which is largely due to the fact that lacy is a packrat that cannot admit to the fact she is a packrat. she breaks off from her friends at the mall go downtown and sift around thrift stores, only to pack the clothes away. now, those boxes are the only ones she can seem to find, and the clothes feel right on her finally. she has really high notions about dressing for the job you want, and prior to her life going to shit, the job she wanted was macys model with 4.0 gpa and a super hot car. now, the job she wants is 1960s literary eurocunt running on spite.
⭐ - robin at steve's party - we needed robin in this fic bad, but i thought it would be disingenuous to introduce her as a friend right away. there's no way that she and lacy would run in the same circles at school, so she only really knows of robin's existence via her working relationship with steve. i also stand by the fact that everyone knew robin buckley was gay except for steve, so the terribly unimaginative slurry nicknames were a given. steve is totally the kind of friend to naively invite robin to parties he's still sometimes having (harrington, in my eyes, remains very well-liked and will throw a damn kegger if his friends that have matriculated out of high school are back in town), but then get caught up in his own bullshit so she'll have to kind of... linger in the kitchen. who hasn't been there, baby.
⭐ - ronnie ecker - YOU'RE GONNA LOOK ME IN MY FACE AND TELL ME THIS ISN'T RONNIE ECKER, GIRL?!!!!! because we need someone who is going toe to toe with eddie munson's freak goof bitch energy and she's the only woman for the job. other than the canon characters, i don't have clear casting choices in my mind for anyone other than her and ayo edebiri inspires me in all things, particularly the comedic element of writing this damn story. love her. worshipping her.
⭐ - eddie munson, rizzless loverboy - the way i see it, and though i'd love for him to have a hot girl era, eddie couldn't be a fuckboy if he tried. he simply cares too much, about everything. even the things he doesn't care about, he cares a lot about not caring about. somebody looks at him in a way that could be construed as romantic and he's thinking about that shit for the rest of his fucking life. when it comes to lacy, eddie's had a little fixation on her that goes way back-- and we'll get into it. she still seems untouchable despite the fall from grace, and he totally needs to touch her. and he's got no idea how to communicate with her outside of sniping. luckily, she's got the same damn disease!!! every time she calls him an asshole, he swoons, but sometimes swooning looks like excessively rolling your eyes.
hope you enjoyed this!! feel free to ask me about specifics and stuff lol, i feel like this was a little word vomity which is all me baby i'm frothing at the mouth to talk about these FOOLS

Day one of listing my thoughts for good fanfic ideas ( but don't have the time nor energy to write them)
Au!steddie where they're in David bowe's labyrinth. Steves watching over one of the kids (like dustin) and jokingly makes a comment about the goblin king taking dustin after dustin finished going on an hour long rant about the made up d &d character (idk anything about d&d) so when the room goes silent, Steve freaks.
Introduce eddie, the goblin king. Steves all like 'I didn't mean it. Bring him back'
Eddie (obviously) doesn't. Instead, Eddie makes a deal with Steve To have until the 13th hour( or the midnight whatever the movie said) to get to Dustin in the middle of Eddie's labyrinth, or else Dustin will be his. Then Eddie drops Steve off at the edge of the labyrinth and dips to go check on his new charge, fully believing that he's written Steve off as someone who'll not even attempt after seeing how VAST the labyrinth is. Wouldn't be the first time that's happened.
So imagine Eddie's surprise when throughout the whole journey, he's watching Steve walk through (read: athletically stumble) the labyrinth. But he keeps it a secret from dustin, Prepping dustin to live with Eddie in very subtle ways. Then dustin blows Eddie outta the water when Dustin's like 'well, don't get me wrong I'm having fun, but I can't stay. Steves coming to get me.' Or something like that. Basically, the only reason dustin wasn't freaking out was because Eddie didn't seem that scary and he already knew steve was coming to get him, so why worry?
Meanwhile steves come across Robin (hoggle) and they become the best of friends. Eddie convinces (read: reminds her of every other person who was taken by Eddie and had given the person who gave them up a fighting chance only for the person to not even attempt to fight... including her own family) robin to trick Steve and prolong him from reaching dustin, feeling shitty the whole time bc she's starting to think this guy, who hasn't stopped for a break since Eddie left him, might not be like her family.
Along the way, Steve and Robin come across Johnathan (hugo) and Nancy (didymus idk you guys I'm grasping at straws here) and they keep going, following pretty closely to the plot line of the movie.
And Eddie? Eddie's falling HARD. between what he's seeing through his magic crystal ball and everything that both Robin and Dustin's said about Steve, how could he not? In fact, there's a plan percolating in the back of Eddie's mind of keeping both duston AND Steve with eddie.
Steve and crew get to the main city and everything goes down
FAST FORWARD TO THAT ONE SCENE
Steve, dressed in filly whites (keeping close to the movie) and the only one without a mask. Eddie in the og traditional outfit bowe's in.
They dance and they get to that one scene where Eddie's trying to convince Steve to stay with Eddie.
AND THATS ALL I GOT

writer ask game and i got a little list for ya! forgive me i could only memorize numbers and even that was hard (i had to double check it dykdyjdny)
2, 17, 47, 69, and 80
Hi!!! I so get you with the remembering numbers thing. I always end up writing them on my hands because they just Don’t stick in the ol’ noggin. Also, this is probably mostly going to be Upside-Down AU answers on account of my goldfish brain syndrome.
2. talk about a notable time a narrative or character has looked you dead in the eyes and said “fuck your plan, here’s what we’re actually doing.”
Okay, okay, so in the UD AU, when Steve decided to stay in the Upside-Down? That wasn’t supposed to happen. He was supposed to get out, they were all supposed to get out and heal together, the end. Anyway, Steve said fuck you, and did his thing.
17. what is your favorite line you’ve ever written?
The first line that comes to mind is: “Reconciled to not carrying his guardian angel out of Hell, Eddie leads the procession out of the woods for the last time.” I just like the formatting, I think it hits well. It’s fun!!!
47.what story are you most proud of?
Breaking th UD AU mold here, and going with a The Untamed fic I wrote: two million naturally occurring sweet things. I think it’s one of the fics where I managed to capture exactly the emotions I was aiming for, and also marks like, the emergence of my writing voice in my fanfic journey.
69.how do you write emotional scenes? do you ever feel what the characters feel?
I’m not necessarily putting myself into the place of the characters, so usually I don’t. I usually feel like a sympathetic person watching it unfold on the sidelines. If that makes sense? I don’t know how helpful this is, I just write what comes to mind, then expand that.
80. do you try to put themes, motifs, messages, morals, etc in your writing? if so, how do you go about it?
The short answer is, no, I don’t. The long answer is, themes and motifs tend to naturally emerge at a certain point within the story. Sometimes you notice as you’re writing it, sometimes you notice in the editing process. Whatever point I notice, I try to make sure they’re consistent throughout, and usually also enhance them later on. I don’t think I tend to put morals or messages into my work, aside from like, the inherent necessity for human care for one another. Not necessarily love, always. Even two people who DON’T at all know or like each other can be in situations where care is a necessity, you know?
Anyway, thanks for the message, this was fun!! I honestly don’t spend a lot of time thinking about my writing process, so things that force you to are always a plus.

Not for nothing, but if more people in this online Stranger Things fandom had media literacy, knew how to close read scenes, and listen at the actual lines the characters were given...you wouldn't need a script to confirm or deny your interpretation of what characters were doing or what would/could happen next.
It's all there in the text/episodes, from Jonathan not wanting to "chase a dream that isn't mine," and Steve's "You're there. You've always been there," to how both Jonathan and Nancy look when she admits that Steve "has actually grown up a bit."
None of us know what's going to happen next, but the writers are going explore this triangle one last time. That's obvious. It's also pretty damn clear Nancy will have to sift through her feelings for Jonathan and Steve along with fighting evil and dealing with her own unresolved trauma (hopefully). They're setting up Nancy and Jonathan to be together in s5. However, if they'd broken up at the end of season 4, I'd say s5 could possibly see J*ncy reunite, but as they ended it similarly to season 1 (with Stancy together and Jonathan alone), I think the writers are saving the possible J*ncy break up for next season, as conflict/secrets slowly unravel things between them. They have shared history, but they're clearly not communicating about what their future looks like. That's a red flag. And they're not admitting there's a festering problem between them either, which isn't a good sign.
Steve...I predict will have some stuff with Dustin perhaps as he going through his anger/grief about Eddie and maybe something with Robin and Vickie, since they all share final scenes together at the high school. Perhaps Vickie will get wrapped up in the teen group dynamics next season, too. I also think Steve will get a chance to disprove Jonathan's dismissive "who would have been in charge? Steve?" comment (although he's already disproved this multiple times over multiple seasons). I haven't rewatched Vol. 2 yet, but I think the last lines he spoke were to Nancy about her always being there, right? If so, that's really interesting. Because although he is momentarily dejected about Nancy and Jonathan reuniting, he sees Robin with Vickie, which I think is a callback both to the beginning of season 4 where they both admit that they're "hopeless" and to their scene in Vol. 2 where Steve tells Robin says he still has "hope" for her and perhaps for himself). Basically, that scene ends with hope for Robin, which imo gives Steve some for himself.
If you don't like what you see and hear, create or read fanfic. Create headcanons etc. But if you're going to analyze what's happening onscreen, stick to what's happening onscreen. No additional props are necessary.

Some random numbers: 3, 10 & 29 (for the fanfic writer ask lol)
Ahh! Thanks for sending an ask! :D
3. What's your favorite fic that you've written? My personal favorite is The One Where Steve Plays D&D. I love the Stobin banter in it and I want Steve to love D&D because I love D&D.
10. Is there a fic that got a different response than you were expecting? My first fic, Bad News First, Eddie. It was just something I wrote on my lunch break at work in less than an hour. And then the Steddie tag just took it and RAN. I cried about it to my bestie it was so overwhelming.
29. Share a bit from a fic you'll never post OR from a scene that was cut from an already posted fic. Here's everything I wrote for the original draft I had for the Steve has good parents and goes to therapy fic before scrapping it and redoing it from Steve's POV:
Robin worries about Steve. She's not sure there is anything Steve could tell her to make her not worry other than 'I don't need to talk about anything because I already do that weekly with my therapist' and that's not going to happen.
Hell, they all need therapy, but Max was, like, actively going to see the school's councilor and she still ended up cursed and almost dead because of her trauma (Robin tries not to think about the others who were also seeing Ms Kelley and got cursed). And sure, you could argue that Max was not actually forthcoming with her issues and therefore couldn't work on resolving them, but that's a po-tay-to, po-tah-to kinda problem, really.
So yes, Robin's sure they all need therapy, but she's mostly focused on Steve right now because he's become their therapist. He's the one everyone talks to about what they're feeling or not feeling, the one who always picks up the phone, answers the walkie talkie when someone doesn't want to be alone. He's fixed up the other rooms in his big empty house with guest beds so they can all have their nightmares loudly away from their parents.
And it's not that they've all left Steve to fend for himself in this. Robin asks him all the time if he's okay, how he's doing, does he want to talk? But Steve doesn't. He's always ok. He's always doin' 'just fine' or 'as well as he can be, all things considered'. He- well, he does talk. But not nearly as much as he should be. Just a confirmation that he understands what they're dealing with because he is, too.
Except, as far as Robin can tell, he's not dealing with any of it, at all.
She says as much to Nancy one night. It's mid-summer, and the Pool Party Slash BBQ Turned Slumber Party is winding down. Nancy and Robin are in the house, sitting on a couch that looks out the back windows, watching as Steve tries to hurl Dustin into the pool, but he's an octopus clinging to Steve's arm, and Steve reaches out to latch onto Eddie for support, and all three end of splashing into the pool.
"Steve's real good at just... being okay after Upside Down bullshit happens, isn't he?" Robin asks, going to conversational.
"Yeah," Nancy says, shifting on her cushion to pull one leg underneath her as she turns her body more towards Robin, "I was honestly surprised how quickly he's bounced back after the second time. We were all a little fucked up from it -we'd never imagine a world where it could happen once, much less twice- but Steve seemed to recover quicker. Didn't even seem changed from what happened. Just... back to school as usual."
"What was it like the first time?"
"Surreal. I think we were all able to fake it enough at school because it still didn't seem real. Monsters? Real monsters in Hawkins? We had no choice but to fake it until it seemed less real. Who would have believed us? Plus, Steve and I were still together then. We had each other to break apart with."
Robin nods, looking from Nancy to back out the window, "Steve was so normal after Starcourt that I thought I was just weak."
Nancy let's out a surprised 'Oh' at that confession, but stays silent as Robin continues.
"He was ready to start job hunting together again. Wanted us to get a job together. I had a breakdown about it, in the upstairs bathroom. Steve sat on the floor and hugged me through it as I cried about how weak I must seem to him. He told me I wasn't weak, that what I was feeling was completely normal. Rational," she laughs at the memory, "he sounded like an actual therapist. Wanted me to talk through what I was feeling. Also asked me what I wanted to be feeling, and things I thought would help me feel that way."
Nancy doesn't look as surprised as Robin thought she might. But also, Nancy's probably had the same kind of talk with Steve. Where he listens, and will share in the emotions, but won't open up about his own deep feelings, thoughts, or fears. "Steve's always been tough."
"Sure, but he doesn't have to be with us," Robin argues, "it's not going to be good for him in the long run to never talk about it. How's it's effecting him, you know?"
"We can't make him talk about it," Nancy says.
"Well, we can try," Robin says, "we could... could bully him gently into talking! If we just get everyone to ask him, repeatedly, maybe he'll finally break and talk!"

Bro i just finished season 3 and there’s too much mileven ;-;
I mean I do think they’re cute but NOT ROMANTICALLY. Platonic eleven is where its at.
It makes me lose hope lowkey but then I remember that season 4 exists and Mike Wheeler is NOT straight at all. As straight as a mfin circle. You cant tell me he wasn’t infatuated with Eddie CMON its confirmed he even grew his hair out to be like him 😭
I get scared sometimes tho 💀 like what if they don’t break up. But they def will. Honestly as long as Mileven breaks up PLZ
Mileven just doesn’t have that chemistry that Lumax and Jancy and even Elmax and Byler have. And they never will and its so OBVIOUS like you don’t even have to be a Byler to notice it. Bro even one of my teachers said Byler has so much more chemistry than Mileven and she thinks will and Mike should get together and I love her for that 😭 and shes like in her late 40s sooo
It’s not even delusional to think it’ll be canon like there’s stuff everywhere cuz everything is so intentional. Its so POSSIBLE and in my opinion they ARE endgame 100% idc you cant change my mind.
I mean the szn is really good and I like the aesthetics too like the MALL and the OUTFITS r all so cool. it’s fun I mean I love Stranger Things but I just hate how apart Will and Mike were the whole season and the way Mike ACTED like dude chill tf out 💀💀 and then Will was hardly ever shown again, this is like the last few episodes of the season.
But ofc we have the famous “its not my fault you dont like girls!” Mike, your internalized homophobia is showing 🤭
Its funny cuz I always LOVE the first 2-3 episodes of each season and then obviously it gets sad 😭 and hella action too but its still good BUT I HATE WHEN CHARACTERS DIE LIKE POOR ALEXAI WTF?? He deserved better and so did Bob obviously.
Nobody better die in season 5 istfg. Like all of the OG cast has to survive PLEASE LET THEM LIVE.
I also watched the first ep of season 4 and I love Chrissy but ofc, vecna put her out of her suffering, and unfortunately I think Will is also gonna get vecnad in szn 5 cuz my boy has been thru it ALL. When is he not being hurt in some way he deserves nothing but happiness.
Like whats gonna happen after Will confesses to Mike? I mean I still can’t believe it, it’s actually happening and the painting and all that and then he’s gonna be so sad cuz he’ll think Mike doesn’t feel the same and I have SO many fanfic ideas honestly
Also I adore Elmax SO MUCH I honestly wish they could be canon I just love them they’re so prefect for each other. Max is the #1 Mileven anti lmao. I keep remembering how she wanted to be friends with Mike in szn 2 but he was so rude to her like BRO WTF. I still like Lumax but like…consider Elumax.
But El deserves better and she does deserve to be on her own away from Mike.
Also Robin’s coming out scene will never not get me I LOVE HOW SUPPORTIVE STEVE IS i freaking love Steve I mean like honestly who doesn’t?
BUT CAN YOU BELIEVE STRANGER THINGS LITERALLY STRAIGHT BAITED EVERYONE WITH STOBIN? LMAOO
So is it rlly a reach to say Mileven was straight bait cuzzzz
I rlly love Robin and Vickie which r definitely ending up together (with Byler cuz they also kinda parallel each other) but I am very fond of Ronance I love it.
AND THEN JOPPER I ALSO LOVE THEM. Remember when they were like “theres nothing romantic between us we’re just friends.” And then the “we’re a team” and it reminded me so much of that one Byler scene in szn 4 which im pretty sure has been pointed out but yeah the PARALLELS.
And also Jancy had that “oh we’re just friends” moment before they got Murrayed like Jopper. Murray getting matchmaking all the Byers? PERIOD. He better finish that in season 5.
Also why do I lowkey ship Murray and Alexai like that wasn’t just me right? Fuck it
But yeah just some thoughts…

What are some of the stories you have written that you adore?
Like, if you were trapped on an island for a year and could only take 5 fanfics that you wrote yourself, which ones would it be and why? 😊
I hope you feel better soon!
This question has caused me so much stress you don't even know lmaooo I read it and my initial reaction was to leap for my bookshelf and gather ALL of them while hissing or something cos how the hell am I supposed to choose FIVE and then get on with my life its not FAIR.
But if I HAD to choose...
First would be the Broken Wings Collection: Not only is it ten or eleven different stories all in one, but it involves all my favorite tropes (Omegaverse, Wingfic, found family, polyamory) and has all the best ships including some new ones I tried out just for the sake of the fic, the over all theme of unconditional acceptance no matter anyone's physical or mental health, sexual or gender identity, and the inclusion of not just romantic partners in the family but also purely platonic partners as well as eventually kids? So good. I re read my printed set at least once a year and it never gets old. Also, this fic is the origin of my "you're not broken, just hurt" theme which is always special.
Then Pirate's Heart. For Nostalgia reasons Pirate's Heart will always remain one of my favorites. It was my first fic to break 100k and 200k, it was my first attempt at a big sweeping AU, it was the first time I let a story just sort of take me where it wanted to go, I spent actual days researching random shit like "harbor depth" and "distance between islands" and the Twi language and pirate weaponry and it ended up utterly MASSIVE. The Stucky in the story between Captain/FirstMate Steve and Bucky is absolutely gorgeous, that version of Bucky specifically is just stunning with his tattoos and damage and yes, the way he talks is extremely OOC but it worked SO WELL for him. And TONY in that story-- the personal growth he goes through is amazing, the death scene with Obadiah is maybe one of my best-- just the IMAGERY in that story? Amazing. Also I'm forever very much into Pirate Queen Diana and her lusty first mate Valkyrie. The Great Angst Chapter where Tony tells Stucky "you don't have to worry, I don't love you. I don't love either of you" just before he walks away?" maybe the saddest thing ever??
For Spideypool I'd have to pick More Than Words: Omegaverse Spideypool is best Spideypool, time travel, mutants, conspiracy theories, strong friendship bonds, Wade has fangs (grrrrr), unconditional acceptance and soulmates-- this book has some of the best scenes I've ever written and I mean that wholeheartedly. The scene where Wade says goodbye to Clint, Eddie and Logan when Cable takes him to the future guts me every time. When Wade bleeds out on the cabin floor and Peter sits there sobbing and listening to his heartbeat slow?? The moment of reunion where Peter whispers into the dark "Alpha?" and Wade says "I'm here Pete". It's too much. Plus the motif of "I can feel you/can you feel me" and "You're mine/I'm yours" is actually so beautiful I tear up reading it.
I can't decide on any particular Stony or Winteriron story because I love literally all of them, but I think I'd go with my Time Falls Away Series: It's rewritten canon of the Captain America movies, also time travel but the first book really focuses on 40s era Winteriron, the second on 2012ish Stony and then the third is both Winteriron and Stony so it's like, the best of everything? This is also the series that made me really fall in love with Steve cos I really dove into both his pre serum and post serum characterization in the first book. Honestly up till that point I wasn't entirely sold on Stony. I loved Winteriron and Stony made sense from a shipping and aesthetic point of view but I didn't love Steve as a character yet. The Time Falls Away series changed that for me, I felt like I finally really understood him. Plus Bucky's "sure thing sweet thing" became #NCTS Canon after these fics, and the scene where he winks and tells tony "I'll see you real soon, sweet thing" before going off on the mission where he falls from the train and disappears for seventy years? YIKES.
I'd have to bring a ST fic with me just cos that fandom and those characters have me in a death grip right now. BUT I've only written Rest and Risk and I know for a fact that the upcoming BillySteve Flayed!Soulmate AU would make the deserted island list and so would the Omega!Steddie one so... I'll have to leave that last spot open for now until I get those fics written!!!

TOO MANY OPTIONS. ⭐ And another just 'cause. ⭐
ok ok ok the first thing that came to mind was from the most recent chapter of the pirate au (lost boys like me are free)!
i originally wrote the opening scene of this chapter where it's steve that comes to get chrissy, not dustin. but as the chapter progressed and i talked to several different people to try and get a handle on where i wanted the story as a whole to go, i decided that as hilarious as it is for steve to be the cabin boy, dustin just made more sense.
i do headcanon that steve was the original cabin boy at some point, or at the very least he's been a cabin boy in the past and eddie only refers to him as such even though that's very much not his title anymore. i would even go so far as to say that steve's the only one that eddie never calls by name, he's just "former cabin boy" which pisses steve off to NO END but what can he do?? mutiny??? fat chance lmfao
and since you sent another star, i'll give you another one. who remembers the criminal minds au?
fun fact: the original plot had chrissy being the one who gets kidnapped. the first several chapters were written with that as the endgame, and then one night i was chatting with a friend and we decided that it would be fun to flip the script and make eddie get kidnapped instead.
in the original story, henry ended up breaking chrissy's leg i believe and therefore she had a giant cast when eddie took her home from the hospital (because of course he did) their big admission of feelings happened when he was awkwardly trying to help her get undressed so she could bathe.
tbh i think the story worked out better having eddie be the one who got kidnapped :)

Hello, ehm...i watched vol 2 and...*spoilers*
what THE HELL WAS THAT? IT WAS UNFAIR WHAT THEY DID TO EDDIE, MY BELOVED DUSTIN WATCHED EVERYTHING! THEY SHOW us how Max deal with grief, and guilty, but what about my boy Dustin? What about him? WHY DID THEY HAD TO TRAUMATIZE MY BOYS OR HURT THEM?!
Sorry, but i need to show and asked for your opinion about...everything 😭
Hi anon, so I had a VERY strong feeling Eddie was going to die like that because finally fighting rather than running seemed like a good conclusion to his arc and they set it up well from a character perspective, but I wrote a post about how (from a writing perspective) they handled it badly. (Short version: give him some plot related necessary reason to go kill the bats next time.) I suspect season 5 will have Dustin dealing with that (and HOPEFULLY they can bring back Steve to help him.) I’m glad they gave us a scene with Dustin and Eddie’s uncle but all I could think about was how horrific it must be for Dustin - this 15 YEAR OLD KID - to be the one who has to break the news to his uncle!! It gave us a moment of Dustin finally talking to someone who always believed in Eddie even without knowing anything because he was outside of the Party but still, NOBODY untrained should be in that position where they have to tell someone their family member is gone (especially not a parent or guardian.) As an angst lover, yes I did lap that shit up, and don’t get me wrong I am 100% already planning a Steve & Dustin fanfic of Steve looking for Dustin after everything in the upside down and taking him home/to a hospital, but yeah it’s absolutely devastating and I feel for that poor boy. Anyway those were my thoughts. No idea if this is even CLOSE to what you wanted for me but my brain is absolutely fried and I’ve barely had time to process volume 2. Fortunately, if fix it fanfics aren’t for us to imagine an amazing time of Eddie and Dustin and Steve bonding and becoming a found family then what ARE they for? X

Wait. And I remembering this right? I don't have access to YouTube at work to research, atm.
Hen's season 2 interview by TayKay mentions she was shot, doesn't it? She was injured in a drive-by shooting, and saved by paramedics? Did it mention the woman's heart attack?
But in her Begins, she works for a pharmaceutical company. She doesn't go to LAFD until after she saves the woman. Were they discussing the shooting and the paramedics?
Or did they conveniently forget her interview for her Begins? It could have been a flashback scene they used (it may exist actually, but on the cutting room floor?) to add to her backstory during some early point of the episode.
So that would make three of the cast being previously injured by gunfire. Hen, Bobby, and Eddie, right?
On another note, I really hope they have Harry talking to Chris at some point in 5b. He could give him a "young" perspective of having his mom go back to work after she was attacked. There's a fanfic that does this. I loved the concept. I really think this would help Chris because Harry would be able to "relate" and "keep it simple" /because/ of his age.
Maybe it will be Athena that finally breaks through to Eddie? She might be the only person who can right now because of their similarities and their child's resulting trauma. She's seen how a parent/child relationship can spiral. Eddie needs to get Chris (and himself!!) back into therapy. Athena makes the most sense (sorry Buck and Carla).
Hi Nonnie!
You're absolutely remembering right, Hen doesn't mention the heart attack in her 206 interview. And then by 209, they add in saving Stacey, her life coach, after she has that heart attack. Fun fact about the stray bullet Hen mentions she was hit by: this is lifted from Aisha's own real life experience (Hen's actress). And yes, this makes three characters to have been injured by gunfire. Which may sound like a lot, but not if you consider that every single one of the main cast (and a lot of the smaller characters, including even kids) has survived a life threatening situation, so...
Honestly, every single one of the 'Begins' episodes contains at least one thing that doesn't work out, whether timeline wise or contradicting some earlier info (think Shannon giving birth without hitch in 315 vs the talk she and Eddie have in 207, where Shannon mentions she feels guilty for what went wrong during the birth). I just breathe deep and let it go or it would annoy me too much.
Oh, I hear you. Honestly, it would be nice to generally see more of the interactions between the firefam kids. But when it comes to the prolonged effects of the shooting, I feel like the conversation we need most of all is between Eddie and Chris. No matter what anyone else might tell him, as long as Eddie thinks he's harming his son by staying with the 118, he won't budge. And Chris needs to see he can have an open line of communication with his dad even when it comes to the most sensitive issues in their life. It's been true in the past for everything else, even if it took them a moment to get there, so I'd really like to see them get there now as well. Second person Eddie has to talk to the most after his son is Buck, because they’ve bound their lives to each other. What affects Eddie and Chris, impacts Buck as well. They all deserve to get to have these talks. Does that make sense?
Thank you so much for the ask and have a great day! xoxox
(To anyone else who sent me an ask, I am going through all of them, thank you so much for your patience! If you wanna check whether I’ve replied to yours yet, you can have a look at my ask tag. xoxox)

Buddie 4x14 review - if you haven’t watched it yet don’t read.
The episode starts where we left it, once Buck was on the ground, it seems like he was thrust back into reality. I noticed two things here (connected with 4x13) Eddie didn’t close his eyes until Buck was safe behind the truck on the ground. And the second thing is that Buck was spurred into action the moment Eddie’s eyes closed.
And I mean this was some BAMF Buckley right there, that was SEALS trained Evan Buckley! 😱🤩 It’s like training and instinct kicked in and all that mattered was to get to Eddie and get him help as soon as possible, sniper’s bullets be damned. I gotta say it was executed to perfection❣
Big kudos to both Oliver and Ryan for delivering this whole sequence in a heart-wrenching, beautiful manner.
The shooting doesn’t stop and they get Eddie out of there under fire, I really like the 133 captain and crew, they worked so well with the members of the 118, it seemed effortless. (I’m not touching that subject, but let’s picture Buck lifting Eddie bodily up into his arms and in to the truck for just a second here. - I mean we wanted it but not under these circumstances)
Buck taking the role of medic when finally getting Eddie into the truck, is so amazing, he’s usually the one either in need for treatment or the one who stands back and let’s Hen, Chim and Eddie do the medic stuff, it is their jobs after all, but he doesn’t sit back and let the medics of the 133 to take over, he does it himself.
He tore Eddie’s uniform’s buttons open (again, that’s not how any of us wished for this to happen), tore the pressure bandage wrap open and pressed it down on the wound, he did not step back from Eddie, until he absolutely has to, at the hospital. 😭
Eddie, my poor baby, was lying on the ground of the truck, bleeding and half conscious and the one thing he focused on was the blood on Buck’s shirt and he asked him if he’s hurt. I mean I could totally cry, because that’s Eddie. Best friend, combat medic, protective and caring, that never goes away even as he’s lying there bleeding. 🥺🥺
Eddie was legit ready to forget his injuries and try to get up and take care of Buck if he was hurt too. He loses consciousness only when Buck assures him that he’s not hurt.
Buck’s frantic litany of “Just hang on, we’re almost there.” and “I need you to hang on” (“I need you”, not we, not Christopher, “I need you”) was really hard to watch, because even though we all read and wrote it in fanfics thousands of times, watching it actually play out was heartbreaking, I totally teared up with Buck there.🥺🥺
For firefighters the job ends at the hospital doors, so Buck naturally, out of instinct stops from following. But that’s Eddie taken away from him and he looks frozen, at that moment he must have thousands of thoughts running around his head.
“You ok Buckley?”
Buck’s broken “No.” was maybe expected, but it was also earth shattering of sorts. This is Buck standing there, knowing (especially after the well incident) that when Eddie is not okay, he’s not either. 😭❤
I want to point out that I loved the fact that the 133 didn’t just drive away or waited outside for the cops, they went in after Eddie. And after trying to check in on Buck, the Captain of the 133 went in too.
I’m going to point out a parallel here between S3 Finale and S4 finale, in 3x18 Eddie asks Buck if he’s ok as his ex-girlfriend was taken in the ambulance with her new fiancé, Buck’s response was “What’s next?” and going back to work. He was okay, because Eddie was with him, and there was still work to be done.
Here in 4x14, Eddie is taken from him to the hospital, and Buck doesn’t know if he’ll live, so Buck’s obvious answer here is ‘No’.
Later we see Buck exiting the hospital, in his firefighter uniform. I’m a little disappointed we don’t see him cleaning up, I know that could have made for a hell of a scene, Oliver would have killed it, and us in my opinion.
Taylor is coming to the hospital, not as a reporter but as a friend. She was worried. I like that side of her, when she knows to put away the reporter and to make sure her friend is in one piece. Her character development is shown beautifully in this scene.
Buck, in no condition to pretend and speak to the press, turns away from her, he doesn’t trust her at that moment and he doesn’t trust himself not to break down there. He’s teary, still in shock and his hands are shaking like crazy. (in complete contrast to the usual Buck, where he can be in danger or wrap up a crazy rescue and he is normally completely steady.)
Taylor, offered to take Buck to Eddie’s house to see Christopher, telling him he can’t go see Chris looking like he does now. “You can’t got see his son like that.” - At first hear and several others it sounded like “Your son.” - of course it’s not but either way it would have been true too, because in a way Buck has been co-parenting Christopher for a very long time now. And indeed later when Buck gets to Eddie’s house he is washed and dressed in civilian clothes.
The scene with Oli and Gavin killed me! I thought for sure the breaking down will be done in private, but Buck couldn’t hold it together in front of Christopher once he found out Eddie is going to be ok, and Christopher comforting Buck was so so sweet.
Christopher’s “like the ones who fixed you?” Kind of gives us a certain idea as to the conversation Eddie had to have with Christopher when Buck was hurt. His sweet “Then he’s going to be ok,” he says it with such conviction, only adding “right?” only as an afterthought.
And as if he manifested it himself Buck then gets a text from Bobby that tells him that Eddie pulled through surgery and it looks good.
Buck actually dropped the phone from the relief and he started to cry, and sweet, adorable, national treasure Christopher puts an arm around him and tells him that Eddie is going to be okay. I definitely cried with Buck here. It was such a powerful scene and it was portrayed so well by Oliver and Gavin.
The “it’s going to be okay Buck” was kind of a call back to 3x01 - when Christopher reassures Buck and tells him “You’re going to be okay kid.” - I love these two together so much! ❤❤
When Bobby gives them the talk in the firehouse about how they proceed from there, Buck is standing with his arms crossed, looking completely dejected. And when Hen asks about the safety of their families, Bobby says there's no reason to believe they are in danger, Buck pipes in with “We didn’t have a reason to believe Eddie will get shot helping a kid either.” Buck is traumatized, and worried, he sleeps at Eddie’s house looking after Christopher.
I loved Christopher waking Buck up, and them having cereal breakfast together, a call back to Eddie and Christopher having breakfast together in 2x04. Buck doesn’t sit next to Chris, but across from him - to me it says that the seat between them is usually reserved to Eddie when they’re together at the house.
I love how Christopher’s teasing Buck about him snoring. And Buck is later confused because he’s unsure of whether or not Chris really understands what’s happening, but Carla assures him that he already lost his mother, unfortunately he understands better than he or she thinks. Which again should give people a new appreciation for Christopher’s sunshine child attitude.🥺❤
Carla showing up to take Christopher to school, is showing relief that Buck could finally sleep, which means that he didn’t for at least a couple of nights. She’s also asking him how it feels to go to work, Buck doesn’t even think about the sniper, for him all that matters is that Eddie is not out there with him and it feels off. (call back to 2x18 when Eddie seemed pensive about being back at work but Buck was not with them.)
Carla, bless her, retorts that that is not what she was asking - obviously she meant, she was worried about the sniper, but that is not Buck’s main worry, his head and his heart are somewhere else.
The crane scene was insane! I laughed when Chimney looked to Bobby and asked him “Can you blame him cap?” and Bobby flat out responded “Yeah!” 😂
The rescue was really impressive. However if Eddie ever found out about this he would probably hit Buck over the head with something heavy. It just goes to show that Eddie is Buck’s impulse control and vice-versa.
Bobby and Buck’s interaction wasn’t one of anger, Bobby was terrified and Buck was guilty but unapologetic, because he couldn’t protect Eddie but he could protect the rest of his family, so he did just that. Bobby didn’t have anything to say other than give him the same response Eddie did in Monsters - “Don’t do it again.” - Because for one, in my opinion, Bobby knows where Buck is coming from and also Bobby knows, he knows Eddie is Buck’s impulse control, knows he’s his anchor, he knows that Buck will only be his relatively normal self when Eddie comes back.
I’m not even going to touch the Taylor scene, yes she was worried, and yes she scolded him in a friendly way, but that kiss felt so out of left field for me, especially since Buck was just packing a bag to go stay with Christopher and Eddie was still unconscious at the hospital.
Also she freaking friendzoned him last episode, how fickle do male writers think women are? She gets a little scared and kisses the guy? Lucky they didn’t write in a sex scene! That was an insult to women everywhere in my opinion. It could have been set in so many better opportunities, why now? And if she’s scared now what’s to say that won’t make her leave like Ali did? I have a whole tirade about it but I will let it go for now.
Now I know ya’ll are like - Eddie woke up because his spidey senses told him someone was kissing his Buck (and I do not negate that point lol), but he just woke up and he asked for Buck. I find it so deliriously endearing that I need a moment even as I’m writing this.🤗🤗
I have to point out that there is no scene of Buck, Eddie and she who will not be name together other than the second when Buck walks in (read ran through the hospital corridors) and Eddie has only eyes for his partner. 👀❤
Afterwards it just the two of them, with a brief facetime to Christopher. I love that Eddie thanks Buck for staying with Chris, and Buck pretty much breaks down the logic behind the decision, like a true parent. - Christopher’s comfort came first in Buck’s eyes, and really that just demanded a hug right there.
“Is he doing ok?”
Buck’s response here, was very honest, a lot more honest than I expected, “better than me.” He said. Buck openly admits to Eddie, “I kinda lost it when I told him you got shot. I’m sorry I should have held it together.” To be honest, I’m very curious as to the ins and outs of Buck and Eddie’s friendship, especially during quarantine, they seem so much closer, a lot more open. More honest than you'd expect two male, straight, lead characters to be with their friends.
Buck would have played it down and shared only the essentials when it’s anybody else. With Eddie he openly saying here, in his own way, ‘I was terrified, and heartbroken, and ‘couldn’t imagine my world without you.’ - ‘I couldn’t function with a clear head.’ - ‘all my masks were shattered.’
“You were there for him when I couldn’t be, that’s what matters.” Eddie knows, buck, he understands him better than anyone, he’s telling him here in his own way that it’s okay, and he loves him just the way he is - it was his way to reassure Buck that he was doing just fine.
But Buck’s “Still I think it might have been better for him if I was the one who got shot.” - Eddie looked like he was ready to get up and smack some sense into Buck.
I want to point out that Buck’s response to Eddie being hurt or in danger is nowhere near the same as his response to anyone else in danger. Case in point in 4x14 is Bobby, he is inside, probably injured, in a fire with a gunman - if it was Eddie, Buck would have waited 0.1 seconds before he disappeared back into the flames to help Eddie.
With Bobby, he was calm, cool, calculated, he knew what Athena would do because that’s exactly what he would have done if it had been Eddie and he is ready with helpful details and a plan. He wants to go with her, but doesn’t argue when she says no.
Eddie is Buck’s Bobby, and it reflects all throughout this episode, and I think I had some parallels pointed out in 4x13 too. So I don’t know what scripts Tim reads or if we’re all watching the same show but buddie exists and thriving as far as I’m concerned.
Buck is also the one to pick Eddie up at the hospital - he tells him that the nurse is getting his meds and discharge papers ready, which means that Buck did all that process, he was busy getting Eddie discharged. (Take a moment to soak it in.)😌
Eddie sits Buck down to talk, to be honest this talk went pretty much the way I expected it.
Eddie explains why he had his will updated, and that Buck is Christopher’s legal guardian if anything happens to Eddie. - I love that after all this time, sweet Buck is still surprised.
He asks if Eddie didn’t need his consent for this and Eddie’s reply is: “My attorney said you could refuse.”
I also love, that even shell-shocked, Buck knows that Eddie knows him “You know I wouldn’t.”
And Eddie assures him that he does in fact know Buck, and he knows that Buck loves Christopher as much as Eddie does “I know you wouldn’t.”
(”I had to do it.” - “Yeah, I know you did.” this was a call back to 4x05 where Eddie understood why Buck did what he did. And knowing what we know now, I can assume that even though Eddie understood and forgave Buck, he didn’t have to like it.)
“No one will ever fight for my son as hard as you.” - call back to 3x03 anyone?
“There’s no one I trust with my son more than you.” - and Eddie proves it time and again.
And here he is basically giving Buck permission to give hell to his parents or anyone who tries to take Christopher away from His Buck. - And I love it!! 🤗❤
Buck, smart, handsome guy that he is, asks the right question again - “Why are you just telling me now?”
“Because Evan.” That first name that even took Buck by surprise, because Eddie only ever called him Buck, to our knowledge anyway. - Eddie was talking to Evan Buckley, not Buck, and yes they are two separate entities living inside one hunky firefighter. - This is Eddie saying, I know you’re frayed around the edges, I know I’m asking for a lot right now but I need you to hear me.
“You came in here the other day and you said it would have been better if you who were the one who was shot,” and I think for Eddie, who was lying on that firetruck floor bleeding out, and his only concern was that Buck may have been hurt, that was the worst thing Buck could have said.
“you act like you’re expandable but you’re wrong.”
Eddie has been where Buck is at that moment, losing his wife, watching his best friend nearly die time and again. - Really at this point Eddie just wants him safe, and if telling him about Christopher is what will do the trick, then he is not above playing dirty.
Eddie is telling Buck, you are my partner, you are Christopher's second parent, I love you, Christopher loves you, I don’t know what I’d do without you. - Because Eddie has been without Buck before and he was completely lost. - And that’s before they became even more intertwined as they are now.
I love the second before Buck and Eddie enter, Eddie’s house, before Buck opens the door, Eddie looks like he’s steeling himself to get in and Buck has a knowing grin on his face, somewhere between ‘ready?’ and ‘they’re happy you’re back be nice.’ 👀😂
I hated the jump forward, but everyone standing on the roof looking good and Eddie with those sunglasses? wow!! 🥵🤩
This was an all out buddie episode, and I was totally there for it!! I really hope for many more, because these two give me life!!

911 4x14 - thoughts and rambles
Okay, I just watched the finale of 911 after I managed NOT to get spoiled all day long. I’m still proud of that fact by the way. I wanted to peek at spoilers so badly, but because work was so exceptionally busy I made it work. And I’m so happy that I had no idea what was coming.
I’m not one to write episode reviews or anything like that, but I feel the need to write down some of my rambling thoughts, because this episode really blew me away in many ways. It was like a good fanfic come to life. I have to admit that, when I opened Tumblr, I was a little surprised that, in between the positivity, there was still quite some negativity about this episode. All while I’m sitting here, still crying over that great ending with ‘Skyscraper’. So, let me get these random thoughts out.
Be warned! Spoilers and thoughts on the overall storylines from the episode, different characters and of course relationships between characters after the cut. Mainly Buddie positive relationship thoughts though, because this episode filled me with the Buddie-feels. 😊
1. The episode as a whole felt a little rushed. The sniper storyline wasn't well-developed at all. I think that probably has to do with the fact that they had to shorten the season because of—well, you all know why. Let’s not spoil my happy mood here.
2. Eddie and Buck and all the blood—man, that entire sequence of events with Buck rescuing Eddie was just *chef’s kiss*. And the way he was in shock and shaking when he was talking to Taylor. Such good acting by Oliver! Also, did Taylor call Chris ‘his son’? I mean—what? Even outsiders can see it now. The Buckley-Diaz family vibes are real.
3. Question: How is it that Athena seems to be the only capable police officer that actually does any work on this show? She seems able to do everything: patrolling, investigating, finding evidence without any problem or help, walking into a fire and shooting people… You name it and Athena Grant-Nash will do it. And other police officers just let her as well. Is there no hierarchy in this fictional police force? I love Athena to bits, but this was a bit too much for me, if I’m honest.
4. Maddie! Yes, she’s getting help. Thank God. Listen, I’ve been there, right after child-birth. There was no fluffy pink cloud for me either. Just a lot of greyness. I started talking to someone when I felt it was getting to be too much and it really helped. So hopefully, she’ll get through this eventually. I’m hoping that they won’t brush over it in S5. I want to see her progress.
5. Bathena. Man, those two. Such a strong couple. One of the greatest fictional couples out there. I’ve always liked Bobby. Hell, I started watching 911 because Peter Krause was in it and I used to be obsessed with ‘sports night’ way back when in the nineties. 😊 I just loved how Athena showed up and rescued her man in a direct parallel on how he showed up when she got attacked and he was ready to kill someone to save her. Couple’s goals, I’m telling you.
6. Nia was back! That is all! I loved that so much!
7. Albert wanting to be a firefighter felt a little strange to me, but okay. Good for him I suppose. I admit that I don’t really care about him that much. He’s not a character that really speaks to me.
8. Buck and Christopher. Pffff—THAT scene where Buck broke down and Chris consoled him that Eddie would be fine. I mean, yeah—they really pushed the whole ‘Buck is Chris’ dad’ storyline. And then Eddie went and actually made it official. What can I say? I cried— hard.
9. Carla’s little talk with Buck. So many parallels to last week’s talk with Eddie. I mean, the first thing Buck thinks about is Eddie when he is asked how he’s doing. I’m a firm believer that Carla knows there is something unexplored there, right under the surface. If those dumb boys would just figure it out already.
10. That brings me to all the Buddie. Oh man, this episode soothed my aching Buddie-heart so much. It was like reading a good solid Buddie fic. It was all there, the terror and heartbreak, the fear to lose the other, the ‘you’re not expendable’, the ‘I made you his legal guardian’… all of it.
In the end Buck and Taylor happened (I’m not really surprised there as it was a season finale and 911 likes to end that with happiness for everyone) and Eddie and Ana still seem to be together. At least Buck and Taylor acted like a couple and kissed. Eddie and Ana have this weird dynamic going on. A kiss on the cheek? Really?
I will say this: I didn’t mind Buck and Taylor getting together. Like— at all. It -weirdly enough- didn’t even phase me.
Mostly because I was reeling so hard from the infinitely much more powerful emotional connection that Buck and Eddie displayed. Buck saved Eddie, but in the middle of it Eddie was worried about Buck. Buck was not fine after he delivered Eddie to the hospital. He seemed broken. And then Taylor kissed him and ran off. She later told him ‘You didn’t chase me’ (or something like that) and I’m like— no, he didn’t, because right then Ana called him and he knew this would be about Eddie and Eddie will always be more important. He didn’t run after Taylor. He ran towards Eddie. There's something poetic about that. And then Ana stepped aside, and Eddie looked at him with the biggest most soft heart eyes that I’ve ever seen. He’s never looked like that at Ana. In the last scene, when he told Buck about the guardianship he looked so sure of himself. Then he basically told Buck everything he’s ever wanted and needed to hear. Buck told Taylor earlier that he never felt like he was enough. Well, Buck— Eddie just gave you his entire world (his son). You are more than enough for him.
As a single mother I can attest that it’s very important to think about what you want for your child if anything ever happens to you. You don’t take the decision of guardianship lightly. I’ve been there. I was Eddie. It’s hard to make the right choice. For him to make that choice—to make Buck, his best friend, the legal guardian of his child? That’s incredible.
Combine that with Carla’s question last episode about following his own heart and not Christopher’s. It seems to me that Eddie has seen the light and he’s started to partially follow his heart. He’s still not completely there yet, but if this narrative continues, I can see him breaking up with Ana next season, because he realises that following his heart means following Buck, not Ana. And of course, by then Buck will still be with Taylor and there might be pining. I’m all for that.
There were so many parallels between Buck/Taylor + Eddie/Ana and Buddie. Not to mention the clear parallel between Bathena’s storyline and Buddie’s storyline.
I just— I feel really good about this when it comes to romantic Buddie. Listen, I have nothing against platonic best friends Buddie and if that is your jam, you do you! But, for me, the narrative is clearly pushing us towards a romance. I’m getting some really good slow burn vibes here. So far it feels as if Buddie is still right on track with no signs of slowing down. Now, I don’t have a crystal ball or anything like that so I don’t know what the future will bring and showrunners can always change their minds if they really want to, but –in my humble opinion- there is no reversing this kind of emotional connection. If the showrunners really wanted to stop the ambiguity between Buddie, they could have easily done that in this episode. All they had to do was feature more Buck/Taylor and Eddie/Ana to strengthen their connection towards season 5. Instead they focused on the bond between Buck and Eddie and intertwined them even more in each other's lives. So yeah, personally I feel like this is clear: There is only one way to proceed with the storyline and that is forward.
I’m actually really excited for season 5! A lot more than I thought I was going to be two episodes ago. And now there's Tim with his cryptic little quotes about Buck and Eddie. Another thing to obsess about! YAY! 😊 It's a great feeling to start the hiatus like that.

For the Fanfic Trope Mash Up: Time Travel and Detective AU?
Time Travel and Detective AU
OOHHH! *cracks knuckles*
First Lines:
There's one simple rule for time traveling: You cannot change the past. Many have tried and catastrophe has followed. Catastrophe and crippling heartbreak that could wreck a person from the inside out until the stretch of time striped them of their humanity and left them a shell of grief and regret.
Eddie had sworn to always uphold that rule. He had too much to live for. A son who needed him whole. A job that kept him up at night but let him do a bit of good for the world.
He remained an observer to time.
He never planned on breaking the rule.
But he did for Buck.
Premise:
Eddie is an LAPD homicide detective who can travel backwards in time and he uses this ability to help solve otherwise unsolvable cases. It's hard work to have to watch and not be able to help people but Eddie's seen what happens when people mess with time. The price is too great. But when he's called to a scene where a dead woman is found in an alley with no clues as to how she died or where to even begin, he doesn't think before he's traveling back to the beginning of the night.
He watches her from a distance like he always does. Nothing out of the ordinary. She's there to have a good time. To laugh and have fun and drink without a care in the world.
"Can I get you a drink?"
Eddie had been nursing a beer for the past hour and it was still half full but when he turns to decline, he's met with a pair of bright blue eyes, an adorable birthmark, and a guarded but amused expression of an incredibly hot bartender.
Eddie is used to being a the watcher in the past but he certainly has never been watched. He's used to blending into the crowd, to being unremarkable; unmemorable.
But he just can't take his eyes off him.
"You've been nursing that beer and staring for about the same time. I can't decide if you're creepy or just shy." The cute bartender says and Eddie is still trying to process that someone who looks like that would notice someone like him.
"I'm a cop," Eddie blurts out and then winces because the cute bartender's eyebrows drift up into his hairline.
"Is Tiff in trouble or something?" Cute bartender asks and Eddie's brain finally catches up with the rest of him.
"Wait," he says. "You know her name?"
And that's how he spends the rest of the night talking to the bartender. To Buck. Buck, who sees more than even Eddie is not only a valuable source of information but someone who makes the wait for the inevitable a little easier. Buck, who moves behind the bar like a dancer and Eddie just can't bring himself to look away. Buck, who makes Eddie laugh. Honest to God laugh. Eddie couldn't remember the last time he'd done that.
He's cute and smart and Eddie makes a mental note to maybe go back and talk to Buck once everything is over. It'd been a while since he'd been on a date but... He could see himself trying with Buck.
As they approach the time of death, Eddie makes his excuses and follows Tiff out the back door. No one has been giving her a hard time but according to Buck she was the former girlfriend of some low level mob boss's son. He keeps to the shadows and tries to shield his heart. This part is always the worst. Sure enough there's Tiff and an expensive Aston Martin with vintage tires Eddie makes note to check the database for. A guy who doesn't seem like an ex-boyfriend shows up. There's a struggle. Eddie waits for the fatal blow when--
"Hey!"
Eddie's world gives out from under him. There hadn't been any witnesses. There hadn't been a second body. But there was Buck, arms laden with boxes, as he walked into a literal murder scene. Buck wasn't supposed to be there. Buck wasn't supposed to be there!
Additional Notes:
At first Buck gets killed for being a witness and Eddie, wrecked with guilt, goes back in time again and tries to avoid him because the only outlier is Buck meeting Eddie so if Eddie can avoid him then he won't die. He could fix it!
But their meet is unavoidable because they are inevitable.
However, Eddie is able to save Buck but now Buck's life is on the line because Eddie's completely messed up the timeline
The two are an adorable crime solving duo because Buck is invested now
Mobsters kidnap Buck at some point (I mean just look at him) or kidnaps Eddie and Buck comes to save him
Maybe despite everything Buck dies again
And time feels like it's taken too much from Eddie because it's kind of a untamable essence so it takes Eddie back to the moment he arrives on scene in the first place like a major reset where he meets Buck for the first time again
Send me two (2) tropes from this list + a ship and I’ll describe how I’d combine them in the same story.

Darling, feel better love
A Buddie 9-1-1 Fanfic
Summary: Eddie catches himself before he can say something he’ll regret, and sighs. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to snap. You just worried us. You worried me.”
“Come on, it’s not that bad,” Buck says, obviously trying to lighten the mood. “The doctor said all my bleeding was internal. That’s where all the blood is supposed to be.”
-
Or, Buck gets injured (again) and it forces Eddie to confront his feelings for Buck.
Word Count: 2270
Rating/Warnings: T, N/A
AO3 Link
*
Eddie absolutely hates hospital waiting rooms.
More specifically, he hates how useless they make him feel. There’s nothing to do but patiently, and anxiously, wait for further news on Buck’s condition after his latest accident.
Buck’s doctor had been out about an hour earlier. He’d reassured them all Buck was stable, and while it would take time, he would in fact recover. It was a massive relief, but still, Eddie couldn’t quell the need to see Buck and assess his injuries for himself.
It’s the seventh time Buck has been in hospital in just under three years. And that’s just in the time Eddie’s known him. Based on the stories he’s heard from Bobby and Maddie, he’s always been disaster prone.
This latest injury had happened while they were on call to a building fire. In typical Buck fashion, he’d disobeyed a direct order to evacuate, deciding instead to do one last sweep of the floor he was on.
That, of course, was when the floor collapsed beneath him.
They’d barely had time to pull Buck out, battered and broken, before the rest of the building collapsed.
Eddie’s not too much of a man to admit that the whole situation had scared the shit out of him. As soon as he’d realised that Buck had not followed him out, cold dread seized him. It was only compounded by the dead silence when Eddie tried to raise him on the radio.
While it had only taken them a few minutes to find Buck and pull him out, for Eddie it had felt like hours. When Buck emerged lifeless and unnaturally still, it was like Eddie's heart had stopped, and only started again when Hen had said there was still a pulse.
Although, if Eddie’s being honest, the accident itself didn’t really surprise him. Buck has a habit of being a self-sacrificing idiot, with no regard for himself or his own safety. But if Buck keeps on this road, keeps doing things like this, there’s a real chance that it’ll kill him.
And Eddie isn’t sure how he’d survive that.
He’d grown used to being alone, given that for so long it’d been just him and Christopher. But then came Buck, who’d somehow managed to worm his way into their lives and carve out a space in his heart since pretty much day one.
Eddie isn’t sure at what point he fell in love with Buck, but in hindsight it’s painfully obvious.
And it tears him up, that Buck almost died, and he’s never told him how he feels. Because Buck deserves to know. Buck deserves to have someone brave enough to tell him.
Most of all, Buck deserves to have someone he wants back.
Because honestly, Eddie is pretty sure that Buck doesn’t feel the same way he does. After all, Buck gives 100% to everyone he cares about, and lives with his heart on his sleeve. Eddie’s also heard enough about Buck 1.0 to know that if Buck wanted him that way, he’d know by now. But throughout their friendship, Buck has never shown any inclination that he feels the same way.
The last thing Eddie wants to do is make his best friend uncomfortable, and ruin what they’ve managed to build together. So, he pushes it down, determined to move on.
But, every now and again, there’ll be a moment. A moment where their eyes will meet across a scene, or they’ll be watching a movie and Buck will lean into him. In those moments, Eddie thinks there might be a chance that Buck feels something more .
Needless to say, Eddie feels torn.
Eddie’s thoughts are interrupted by a nurse, speaking to the assembled group in the waiting room.
“Family of Evan Buckley?” the nurse asks. He’s not the only one there. Maddie’s there, of course, along with Chim and Bobby. Both Athena and Hen had been there earlier as well, but had to leave. “You can see him now. Don’t stay for too long though, he needs rest.”
They all follow the nurse through to Buck’s room.
His skin is pale and he looks completely exhausted, but he’s alive, and that’s all that matters. Buck instantly perks up the moment he sees them, his eyes lighting up as they file in.
“Hey guys,” Buck says, his voice raspy. There are no words for how much relief it fills him with, to see Buck alive and well enough to speak. The perpetual ache in his chest abates slightly, and Eddie hangs back as the others rush forward.
Maddie rushes straight to his bedside, quickly wrapping her little brother into a fierce hug.
“Hey,” Chim greets, perching on the end of the bed. “How’s our favourite disaster magnet feeling?”
“I’m the favourite?” Buck replies, always first out the gate with deprecating humour.
“Who else would it be?” Chim states. “You should ask them if they have a frequent flyer program at this hospital. What is this, like your sixth stay in three years?”
“Seventh,” Eddie corrects.
“Seventh?” Buck repeats, as if it’s only just now occurring to him that he’s spent an inordinate amount of time in hospitals over the last few years. After a moment, Buck breaks into a joking smile. “Two more and then the next one's free, right?”
“How about no more?” Maddie suggests as she pulls back slightly, her eyes glassy. Eddie wholeheartedly agrees.
“How about you listen to your sister?,” Bobby says. “Let’s try to avoid hospital stays in future.”
“Okay,” Buck says, and Eddie knows this is the closest thing they’ll get to a promise in regards to this. “Seriously though, I’m fine. The doctor thinks I’ll be home in a week or so.”
Even so, Maddie still fusses over him while Chim and Bobby keep up the conversation. Eddie, meanwhile, continues to hang back, trying his absolute best to shove down a conflicting range of emotions, and work out just what he’s going to do about them.
Bobby is the first to leave, obviously relieved to see that Buck is conscious and stable. On his way out, he pauses next to Eddie.
“You’re overthinking it,” Bobby says quietly, so that only Eddie hears. “Just be honest with him. I think you’ll be surprised at how well it goes.”
“Is it that obvious?” Eddie asks, more than a little panicked that he hasn't been hiding it as well as he thought.
Bobby doesn’t respond, instead just giving him a look before he leaves, and it’s answer enough.
If the Captain knows, there’s a not small chance that Hen and Chim know, and probably Athena too. And if Chim knows, then Maddie definitely knows, and Dios, that’s a realisation all of its own.
Eddie hazards a glance to the others. Maddie is too busy with Buck, but Chim notices, and gives him a look as well.
They definitely know.
Eddie barely has any time to come to grips with the fact that his massive crush on his best friend is apparently public knowledge at the firehouse before Chim and Maddie begin to leave as well.
“I’ll be back first thing tomorrow!” Maddie promises, as she and Chim make their way out.
“Looking forward to it!” Buck says, with as much enthusiasm as he can muster.  As soon as she leaves though, Buck deflates, no longer needing to keep up his energetic charade.
Eddie knows that Buck considers himself a burden to others. He sees it in the way that he always puts others first, and how he’ll always try to make others feel better at the expense of himself.
It speaks volumes about how far they’ve come, that Buck is comfortable enough around him to let his walls drop. To be vulnerable.
Eddie takes the spot right next to Buck that Maddie was previously occupying, making a mental note to not stay too long. Buck really does need to rest, but Eddie just needs a bit more time to convince himself he’s really okay.
As he sits, Eddie puts his hand on Buck’s arm, just above his wrist. It’s grounding, to feel his warm skin, a reminder that he’s alive.
“Tell Chris I’m sorry I’ll miss pizza night this Friday.” Buck says, sounding genuinely remorseful.
“I’m sure he’ll understand.” Eddie says, because he will. He’s such a good kid. He’ll bring Chris to visit him in a few days, when Buck has more of his energy back.
It says so much though, about the kind of person that Buck is. Even in a hospital bed, he’s still thinking about others first.
As bad as it sounds, it frustrates Eddie sometimes, seeing just how selfless Buck can be. Like he doesn’t think he’s worth the worry.
And now that he’s seen it for himself, that he knows that Buck’s okay, Eddie starts to get just a little bit angry. He can feel it, how the rage simmers just beneath the surface of his skin.
How could Buck do something so reckless? Does he really not see what it does to others, to those around him? Or does he just not care?
His internal strife must be pretty obvious, because after a moment, Buck asks, “Is everything okay?”
“Really?” Eddie barks out a humourless laugh at the absurdity of the question. “You almost died, Buck.” His voice drops to a hiss, sharper than he intended it to be. He catches himself before he can say something he’ll regret, and sighs. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to snap. You just worried us. You worried me.”
“Come on, it’s not that bad,” Buck says, obviously trying to lighten the mood. “The doctor said all my bleeding was internal. That’s where all the blood is supposed to be.”
And just like that, Eddie’s furious all over again. How can Buck joke about something like this? “Buck—“
“Eddie.”
“This is serious. You can’t just do things like that.”
“What was I supposed to do?” Buck asks, crossing his arms. “I thought I’d heard something, so I went and checked. What if someone was still in there? Am I supposed to just leave them behind?”
Yes, Eddie wants to say, but he knows that Buck is right. He probably would have gone back to check as well. He’s not going to win the argument on this front, so he changes tact.
“You almost died, again,” Eddie repeats, because really, that’s the important part here.
“But I didn’t,” Buck insists.
Eddie sighs again. They’re just going around in circles. He looks down, to where his hand is still holding Buck’s wrist. Now is the time for honesty. How would he have felt, if Buck had died and he never told him just how much he means to him?
But this isn’t about him - if nothing else, Buck should know that somebody loves him, the way he deserves to be.
“You can’t keep doing this, Buck. I don’t know what I’d do without you.” Eddie confesses. "I can't lose you.
"You won't." Buck promises, as if he could ever keep a promise like that.
He could take the easy way out, and just leave it there, especially since words so often fail him. But he refuses to back down, this time. Steeling himself, Eddie reaches out to grasp Buck’s hand, twining their fingers together. His skin is rough, calloused from hard work, but the pulse that beats against Eddie’s palm is comforting.
Buck's eyes go wide at the contact.
He meets Eddie's eyes, realisation dawning on his face.
"Oh."
His gaze flicks down to Eddie's lips and back up.
Taking a chance, Eddie leans in, closing the last few inches of distance between them. The kiss is gentle and chaste, but full of promise. Eddie breaks away after a moment, cognizant of Buck’s injured state. But before he can pull away, Buck reaches up with his free hand and pulls him right back in.
Their second kiss is just as good as the first, and Eddie melts into the softness of Buck’s lips against his own.
A pained exhale snaps Eddie back to reality and he reluctantly pulls away. “You’re not well.”
“I’m fine,” Buck says, slightly breathless but not seeming to mind. “Besides, I’ve really been hoping that would happen for a while now.”
“Me too,” Eddie says, heart thrumming in his chest. After a moment, he adds, “Why did you never say anything?”
“I didn’t want to ruin what we had, not when I didn’t know how you felt,” Buck admits. “I know that I have a reputation, and I didn’t want you to think that’s all it was about.”
“I never would have thought that,” Eddie says, his heart clenching at the words. He may not have ever met ‘Buck 1.0’, but in the time he’s known Buck, he’s never been anything less than loyal and selfless. He doesn’t like that Buck thinks he’d judge him for his past. “But, same. About not wanting to ruin it.”
“I love you,” Buck blurts out. “Sorry, I know that’s a lot, really early, but it’s true.”
“It’s okay,” Eddie quickly reassures. “It’s not too much, at all. I love you too.”
Buck lets out a shaky laugh. “God, we’re both idiots.”
“Yeah, we are.” Eddie ducks his head to hide his fond grin. “So what happens now?”
“I’m going to date you so hard.” Buck states, absolutely beaming.
“Well first, how about we work on getting you out of here?” Eddie starts. He can’t seem to pull himself away from Buck, although Buck doesn’t seem to want to let go either. “And then I take you out to dinner?”
“If you insist.”

I’m not loving this season so far honestly. It seems very dark and while I love the interrelation pieces I would like to focus on the calls again. And some lighter humor. Also I don’t love some of the things the show is trying to pass off as jokes. Honestly I may stop watching and wait for Hulu to have the whole season and binge - or stop watching all together and just live in fanfic
Oh anon. I understand where you're coming from. I was very disappointed by this episode as well.
I'm not writing off the entire season just yet though. There have been moments this season that I truly enjoyed. But then there have been lesser ones, for sure. And this episode... I don't even know what this episode was? It definitely showed that they switched 5.06 and 5.07 around, because I have a feeling that most of what was meant to be the "Halloween" episode ending up being cut.
I too would love it if we could go back to several 911 calls per episode, with some silliness, banter, firefam interaction. Good continuity in the character relationships. That is what I truly missed this episode.
Instead what we got was... well, not what I'm interested in. No Eddie. No Ravi. Hardly any Buck or Bobby.
I was glad to see Hen and Karen but was disappointed that they revisited the cheating storyline again. (Surely they can come up with more interesting things for them!)
I was very glad to see Chimney back, and to have a guest appearance of Eli! But sad that there was no interaction with the firefam. (Except for that phonecall with Hen)
I liked that moment between Ransone and Harry.
But everything else? Pfffff. The case of the buried alive guy didn't capture my interest at all. I didn't care what happened to him or his wife. So I certainly didn't care about Ransone (who I like a lot, by the way!) and Taylor (who I'm beginning to actively dislike more and more with every episode that passes) solving the case. Instead, all Taylor did was annoy me. And the last scene worries me because to me it spells out that she'll continue to be rude and stick her nose where it doesn't belong and live for nothing else but her career but it'll turn out that she has some sort of sob story for it which will "excuse" everything. (And Buck being the good guy that he is will be there for her)
Aaaah, sorry, I know you didn't ask for my review of the ep. XD Sorry. I'm just so disappointed. So I understand that you're feeling bad about it too and are thinking of stopping.
Honestly, you have to do what you think is best for you. There's nothing wrong with "watching" the show by Tumblr gifs and reading fanfic. Fanfic truly makes me so happy, so yeah, you do you. If the show makes you unhappy right now (temporarily or not) then you should think of yourself and take a break from it. I did with Teen Wolf (I still haven't watched until the end, lol) and it made me a lot happier.
But hey, maybe, just maybe, things will pick up again. And we'll have some marvelous episodes ahead! And we'll always have the little moments between Buck and Eddie and the rest of the firefam that will make it into gifs or fanart or fanfic that will make us all happy. Fingers crossed!

Edit 03/31/21
REQUESTS: I don’t do detailed requests (i.e., where the character, plot, and tone are all set in your mind), however, please feel free to send me suggestions for people I could write for and/ or prompts, premises, or just whether you want something fluffy/ smutty, etc. I’m pretty open about who I write for, although my familiarity level varies and some people speak to me more than others. I prefer to focus on people who don’t get as much love and attention from other writers because there’s already SO MUCH GOOD FANFIC OUT THERE and I’m still pretty new to this.
