Someone leaves a small blue leather notebook behind at the Munson trailer. Eddie finds it and reads it.

There’s poems about everything. There’s poems about love. Love for your friends, the guilt that comes with love, the desire to protect those you loved. Poems about familial love. Finding a new family to love, being ruined by the want for parental love, searching for something to fill that role. Poems about bitter love. Wanting love but never finding it, of being unloveable, of your loved ones loving a you who doesn’t exist.

There’s poems about knowing who you are but not who you want to be. Poems about fear for the future, fear of yourself, fear of abandonment and false promises.

Poems about growing up too fast. About loosing yourself to your trauma. About going crazy in your own head.

Poems about making mistakes you can never make up, for doing things or believing things you will never atone for, of never wanting to be who you were again.

There’s dozens of handwritten poems. Most of which speak to Eddie in a way most poetry doesn’t. There’s a few poems he doesn’t get, but most of them are genuine and relatable. There’s grammatical errors and spelling mistakes, but every poem is deeply personal in a way that the abstract literature in English classes aren’t.

Eddie wants to know who wrote this, wants to ask for more, wants to tell them how much he understands and feels understood.

Until Steve Harrington calls and asks if he’d left a little blue leather notebook in Eddie’s trailer this weekend.

Now all Eddie wants to know where all of this came from.

and it all ends with eddie returning to their bad and cuddling with buck.

I need an AU where Iceman (cancer-free) is Maverick’s wingman for the mission. They don’t want to put their adopted kids’ lives at risk. They both get shot down and argue in the forest but don’t push each other over cause they might not be able to get back up, “you’re the commander of the pacific fleet, I was saving your life” and “I’m not abandoning my wingman, you want me to watch my husband get killed???” And then before they get in the F-14 they argue over who’s the better pilot because of course they would (Ice would pull rank) and Mav kinda had a full circle moment when he’s got to eject them. It doesn’t work though and Rooster (the spare dagger) saves them, putting aside the animosity he has with them pulling his papers.

Most whump is serious and dramatic, which is wonderful, but I also want to see some comedic whump/caretaker action. Like slapstick, sitcom type humor. Here's some examples:

Caretaker dumbfounded by Whumpee's severe mood swings due to delirium, stress, overwhelm, etc.

Caretaker is a naturally caring and nurturing person. Whumpee is an aloof, headstrong, independent son of a gun. When Caretaker sees the condition Whumpee is in, they jump into Mother Mode immediately, and although Whumpee absolutely HATES being cared for (mostly just because they aren't naturally very emotional or friendly), they realize they have no choice. Still, Whumpee has no idea how to handle being cared for physically and emotionally, so what they say and do inevitably end up being awkward, blunt, cold, or out-of-place.

Whumpee and Caretaker share a braincell. Whumpee gets hurt, Caretaker panics attempting to tend to an also panicked Whumpee's wounds. Caretaker accidentally makes it worse, and when Whumpee tries to help in their delirious/pained state, they also make it worse. They blame each other for everything. Caretaker probably also gets hurt attempting to handle first aid/medical supplies. Cue incoherent frantic yelling. Whumpee passes out, wakes up later to see Caretaker sitting next to them (along with Medic who begrudgingly tended to Whumpee because they actually know what they're doing). The two knuckleheads have a sappy Bromance moment while Medic rolls their eyes, lecturing them to be more careful.

Whumpee is rendered unable to go on due to wounds or illness in the middle of nowhere. A kind stranger Caretaker happens upon them and decides to take them in and nurse them back to health. Whumpee is completely out of it and is just happy to have found help. Quickly Whumpee realizes that, although Caretaker is an expert in medicine, they are a little... off... nonetheless, Caretaker is Whumpee's only hope at survival. Caretaker ends up being less like a kind doctor and more like a mad scientist - insane, chaotic, but willing to "nurse" Whumpee "Back To Health". Think TF2 Medic.

i need more of these sorts of scenarios, but I'm awful at writing comedy.
