it should be a crime for writers/creators to not make a crazy wall for their story that connects pictures representing the characters and plot points together with an obscene amount of yarn.

MINORS DO NOT INTERACT!
Hey guys, before we get started, I’d like to address a couple of things.
First, the content here is a bit darker than my previous works, as stated in the warnings above. If you or someone you know is struggling, you aren’t alone. There are many support services that are here to help. I will leave a link to some of these sources in this link here. Tumblr also has their messaging system, Kokobot. I want you guys, my audience to feel safe when reading my stories. If you do not feel comfortable venturing any further, that’s okay. Please prioritize your physical and mental health, above all else.
Second, bullying is not tolerated. If I see any sign of it on here, I will have no choice but to take this story down. Finally, there will be some references in here from The Locked Tomb series by Tamsyn Muir, such as Harrowhark and Palamedes. I claim no ownership over this magnificent series as it belongs to the rightful creator.
With that being said guys, sit back, relax....and perhaps begin to pray for salvation. Because this is past the point of no return :)
Part Two
Part Three
Yandere!Holy Knight had always believed he was meant to serve a greater purpose. Not to accumulate wealth and power like his older brother, only to abuse his authority and hurt people who did not deserve a whipping for a cup of tea that was two degrees too cold to his liking. No. He wanted to help others in his own way, without expecting anything in return. Perhaps…that was why it had been so easy to leave his family and find his place here in the Holy Temple of Aesir. Or it was because he is the second son, the spare heir to the Emery viscounty, that his parents allowed him to leave without so much as a second thought.
He had given up his name when he was baptized by the high priest, and was reborn as Sir Palamedes. Five years have passed, and he has ascended to becoming the vice commander of the Holy Temple’s paladins. He must protect the Holy Temple, its clergy, and the people of the Helux Empire. This is the oath he took, and is proud to uphold. Yandere!Holy Knight, however, wished the Reverend Sister would take better care of herself.
The Reverend Sister is a title given to the child chosen by Aesir to deliver His message and protect His children from the wicked monsters who come forth from the swirling, black puddles of miasma. Only the Reverend Sister’s magic can purify the darkness of such an ancient evil. In his mind, there is no one more fitting to being the Reverend Sister than you. Harrowhark.
God’s Beloved.
The Possessor of Aesir’ All Seeing Eyes.
The Holiest Woman in the World.
There are many monikers tied to you. All of them are true, and all of the rumors couldn’t be further from the truth when the bards sang songs of your innocence, your enchanting beauty and ‘swan like neck’. If you had ever heard these lyrics, you would promptly take off your shoe and throw it at them with a low, irritated hiss before stomping away in a huff.
Yandere!Holy Knight would probably try very hard to not laugh at seeing, or at least imagining, your annoyance.
Yes, you were the Reverend Sister  but you were not a naive beauty as everyone believed you to be. You were grumpy, diligent, kind-hearted, and knew the world can be a dark, cruel place.
The Holy Temple of Aesir had saved you in your darkest hour; instead of throwing yourself into the cold, murky river as a means to escape from the wretched place you had come from, a low-ranking priest had found you. He took you in, taught you everything there is to know about prayer, penitence, and how to embrace the worst part of yourself  even when you wanted to so badly rip it out because it is still part of you. What you had experienced, the hardships, the sorrows…that is life. And to understand that no mortal is perfect, to accept it and use the gifts Aesir had bestowed upon you to help others…that is when you will truly see how beautiful the world is through His Eyes.
His Eyes that you now possessed.
No one had dared to look upon them in fear of incurring Aesir’s wrath…yet Yandere!Holy Knight did when he was in the Holy Temple’s care for a year before you arrived, a young man at the age of fifteen. He saw them and thought they looked like a pair of jewels. Sapphires that glowed brightly under the sunlight, and could see everything. Past, present, and future for a brief time. Due to the physical and mental strain that these Eyes have placed on your body even when it was to create illusions or obscure the sight of magical beasts, you weren’t allowed to overuse them. That was why the High Priest insisted that you wore a veil over your face.
You opted to have the seamstress to make adjustments to your mother-of-pearl robes and add a hood to hide yourself from the world. You might have also bribed her to create a matching cloth to wear over your eyes, enchanted so that you could see through it without putting further strain on your vision.
Rebellious. But you were perfect in Yandere!Holy Knight’s eyes. A Reverend Sister who cared for the congregation, the people, and his men far more than she lets others believe.
He thought this peaceful life would continue as it had for the last ten years. To watch you from afar and know that you were safe so long as he still held a sword in his hands. But nothing lasts forever.
One day, the High Priest had cloistered the clergy in the temple’s pews and announced that Aesir had shown him in a vision that the Reverend Sister who had been with them for these past ten years was not the true child of the Creator. It is in fact the young lady standing at his side. A dainty, beautiful lady with pale blue hair that fell past her back, gentle robin’s egg eyes darting from the carpeted floor to the clergy and then to the High Priest. She wore a  strapless white dress with matching gloves that stretched all the way to her elbows. Pear-shaped dangled from her ears, and black lace with a single blue rose attached to the side coiled around her swanlike throat. This stranger, this…noblewoman, is all but ready to accept her duties. From this moment forward, she would be known as Esther.
“Let it be known, Brothers and Sisters, that the one known as Harrowhark shall be sent into exile for her sins against Aesir. That is the will of the Creator, so let it be so.”
Yandere!Holy Knight’s heart plummeted into the pit of his stomach at the High Priest’s words. What? He thought. This cannot be true! You are the Reverend Sister, you are God’s Beloved! Why would this man (this fool a nasty voice in the back of his mind growled) deny it now? Ten years. For ten long years, you have been a faithful bride of the Holy Temple. Now, after everything you have down, the recklessness in trying to sacrifice your life for his men on missions, reaching out to the people and listening to them confess their sins in the prayer box because you did not wish to see them suffer and try to offer guidance without overstepping your boundaries….you would just be cast aside as if you were nothing to them? To the Holy Temple, to him?
No. Yandere!Holy Knight cannot and will not accept it. He knows the High Priest. He knows this man would never dare to do something so stupid lest he will incite the anger of the clergy, the people, and the Emperor himself, who is a religious man and knows the Reverend Sister.
Something is not right.
He was not the only one who believed it. You did too. You had told him as much later that night, when you found him at the training grounds, trying to relieve his anger by practicing his swings with his two-handed longsword. You were still here. You hadn’t left like the High Priest had ordered you to do so. Thank Aesir.
If he were a lesser man, he would have scooped you up in his arms and laughed joyously, waking up everyone else in the barracks and gotten smacked across the face for pushing past your five-foot rule. But he didn’t.
Tumblr media
You had not been blessed with His Eyes just to pretend that you will unconditionally obey the High Priest’s request to leave and be branded a heretic, a false Reverend Sister, for the rest of your life. No. The woman who will be baptized as Reverend Sister Esther and become God’s Beloved is not who the High Priest believes she is, regardless that this chain of events are happening because of a vision.
All the sacred texts in the library, all the prayers you have had to learn by heart, not a single one of them contained the words Affection Level. It did not explain why those floated over this stranger’s head, why its dark-pink smoke was encircling the High Priest, a man who possessed just as much holy magic as you did, if not more due to age and experience. You had strained your sight,  vision becoming blurry just to see what was the thing under Affection Level. It was…a bar with lines? Measured in tenth percentiles, from ten to one hundred? What is this sorcery? It isn’t anything you have ever seen before, not even when you have visited monasteries across the Empire for yearly sabbaticals. How did this woman attain it?
This magic did not possess the gentle warmth of Aesir’s touch, his love towards all creation without expecting anything in return.
Take. Take. Take. Conquer. Move on. Take.
That was what you could feel, and you had no doubt in your mind at that very moment, the High Priest’s words going from one ear and out the other. There is an evil presence in the Holy Temple of Aesir. This woman, Esther, is a harbinger. An anchor. She was tied to this evil and she was reveling in it as if she had finally, finally gotten what she desired without lifting a finger. And that terrified you more than anything, the possibility that this sorcery can brainwash the entire congregation and no one would be the wiser.
Shit. What the fuck is going on? Forgive me, Aesir, for saying such vulgar words in your sacred House, but what the ever-living fuck is going on?
If the sight of seeing this Affection Level  and its abilities did not rattle your bones, it was seeing two tiny names hidden right under the meter. The High Priest…and Sir Palamedes. And inside tiny square boxes right, no, on the left side of their names were the words capture target.
Tumblr media
Yandere!Holy Knight stared at you in disbelief, your confession of what you had seen earlier this afternoon ringing in his ears. “You believe that this woman will bring harm to the Holy Temple, Sister Harrowhark?” He said. “If that is true, then why would the High Priest risk the safety of the congregation? Is it because of the influence of this…Affection Level? And why is my name there?” He was aghast. “How could anyone think of conquering someone if they do not consent to it or do not desire such a thing?”
Like the Brothers and Sisters of the Holy Temple, he had taken a vow of chastity alongside the oaths to protect them and the countrymen. Only clergymen or paladins who were high-ranking would be allowed to marry so long as the union was approved by both the High Priest and the Emperor.
You blinked at him, jeweled eyes glowing in sympathy as you slowly shook your head. “I do not know, truly. But if Reverend Sister Esther is coming after you, then you must put your safety and well-being above all else. Even my own.” You put your gloved hands in your mother-of-pearls robes, digging around in the pockets before you pulled out a drop-shaped peridot on a silver chain. You placed it in his open palm, and pushed his fingers forward to clench the hand into a loose fist.
Murky, violet orbs looked at you in confusion, astonishment, and fear. “Lady Harrowhark?” He whispered.
“Keep this on you, Sir Palamedes. The holy magic stored in here should be able to protect you from whatever this evil is, or at least I hope so. I was able to persuade the High Priest to postpone the announcement of Reverend Sister Esther’s baptism and my exile until after the Festival of the Stars. That will give us one week, while the others are celebrating Aesir’s creation of the world, to find everything we need to know about the Affection Level and how to remove it from Sister Esther before it can corrupt anyone else in the congregation.” You then stepped away from him, turning your back towards Yandere!Holy Knight and throwing the hood of your robe over your head.
“Recite your prayers, steady your hand, and for Aesir’s sake keep your distance from that woman.”
Then you left the training grounds, disappearing into the night and back towards the Sisters’ sleeping quarters, leaving Yandere! Holy Knight alone in his troubled thoughts. He knelt at his bedside that night, clutching the talisman you had given in his clasped hands as he dutifully murmured the prayers of Fidelity, Honor, and Strength. To protect him from evil’s temptation.
May Aesir grant him the strength to remain pure of heart and mind before he succumbs to his unholy feelings towards the Reverend Sister Harrowhark, God’s Beloved and the woman he should not have fallen in love with.

Okay, I have a lot of thoughts about the Percy Jackson show and the discourse I have been seeing about it. This is going to be long and possibly all over the place but I just want to share. If you disagree, that’s fine. Just don’t hate because you have a different opinion. Deal?
I want to start this by saying I am a new fan. I did not read the PJO books when I was a kid. I watched the first two episodes when they came out in Dec purely out of curiosity and was just immediately in love with the world. So in true ADHD hyperfixation fashion, I devoured Percy Jackson and the Olympians and Heroes of Olympus books and I am currently on Book 1 of Trials of Apollo. And maybe it's because I am a newer fan but a lot of the gripes I see about PJOTV just don’t make sense to me and I feel like they really are just rooted in nostalgia. Watching the show and all the interviews of the cast and crew, it is clear to me they wrote this season with the intention and hope that they would get to make all 5 seasons, and possibly even further. I can see how all the changes make sense when looking at the narrative as a whole. They are really setting up this world and this story in a way that I think lends more to the future of this narrative better than The Lighting Thief book does.
I also want to say I have yet to find a book to screen adaptation that is beat for beat accurate. So much of what works in novels, especially novels told in first person, just does not translate to third person screen adaptations. Ultimately, literature and film/TV are art forms and what works for one may not work for another and the creators are allowed to make changes, especially when it is for the overall good of the product.
To start, the exposition dumping didn’t really bother me that much although I agree it is there and noticeable. Now, I watched the first two episodes before reading the books but after reading the books, I think the exposition is just as noticeable in the books as it is in the show. Percy walks into this world without knowing or believing in any of it. In the book, he learns about this world through the people around him explaining it in dialogue. It is just condensed a little more in the show which makes it feel a little heavier. Nonetheless, fantasy tends to have a lot of exposition because there are a lot of things you as a reader/ viewer need to know at the start of the story. It is part of the nature of the genre, especially when it is intended for a younger audience. Exposition that seems clunky to an older viewer is probably not going to feel the same way to a younger audience member (which is the target audience).
The biggest complaint I see, and disagree with, is that the kids are “too smart which ruins the suspense.” Annabeth has been at camp since she was 7 and it is clear, both in the books and the show, she is determined to prove that she is strong and capable and intelligent. She has been training to go out on a quest since she was 7 years old. Annabeth would have been studying these monsters and these myths so of course she can figure out the traps. They aren’t that hard to figure out, even for someone who isn’t super knowledgeable about Greek mythology.
Grover’s job is a protector of demigods. It makes sense he knows these myths like the back of his hand. I imagine that after Thalia, Grover would have studied and worked so hard to prove he was ready for another chance. Grover in the books also fell a little flat in The Lighting Thief to me because it seemed like most of his personality was just to be scared and funny until later books. I love what they did with Grover in the show because he feels like an actual character with his own goals, intelligence, trauma and authority.
Now onto Percy… I have so many thoughts about Show Percy so bear with me.
While I was reading the books, I was confused as to why Sally didn’t teach Percy about Greek mythology. Book Sally seemed to just hope Percy being attacked by monsters and going to camp isn’t going to happen or just assumes that when it does happen, Percy will figure it out. Sally always knew what would happen to her son, at least to some extent, so why wouldn’t she do everything in her power to prepare her son for this life she knows is inevitable? I loved the addition of her teaching Percy about Greek Mythology and Ancient Greek because it makes so much sense because I never saw her as a just “sit back and wait” kind of character. Percy is her son, her baby, her miracle. She is terrified for him (which we see in EP 7 in the flashbacks) and, to me, it makes sense she would do everything in her mortal power to prepare him in a way that doesn’t scare him or reveal to him who he actually is. (It is also such a beautiful call back to Rick telling his son these stories as a kid, like I just think that is beautiful).
While on the subject of Ancient Greek, I saw someone complain how Percy doesn’t inherently know Ancient Greek in the Olympus scene in EP 8. “Poseidon and Zeus looked at each other. They had a quick, intense discussion in Ancient Greek. I only caught one word. Father.” - The Lightning Thief, page 343. This moment was literally pulled straight from the book! Percy talks about Annabeth tutoring him in Ancient Greek in the book (The Lighting Thief, page 107) and I loved how the show changed it to be his mom that taught him because of the previous reasons I gave above.
In general, Percy is an unreliable narrator. We see that in The Last Olympian when Rachel painted him defeating Antaeus. Percy is shocked at how he looks. We also see this in Heroes of Olympus where he is constantly talked about as this powerful and sometimes scary person whereas Percy never describes himself as anything other than kind of mediocre. Percy is constantly underestimating his intelligence and power in his POV because at his core he is still an insecure kid who was bullied and uses humor as a defense mechanism. But no matter what he thinks, he is smart and powerful and capable and I love that we get to see that in the show because it isn’t in first person.
In the books I was constantly frustrated that they weren’t seeing the traps. Aunty Em’s is so clearly out of place and weird and creepy but the Book Trio just ignores it? Also the Medusa story change was beautiful and needed and added so much depth to what was a very simple scene in the books. The Crusty’s scene was jarring at first, but in hindsight it didn't bother me either because Hermes told them about the entrance. Why wouldn’t he tell them about the trap too? The way Hermes is portrayed, I get the sense that he really wants Percy to succeed, in the books and show, and that he is holding onto hope that somehow, someway, he can still save his son. Why would he send them somewhere just to lead them into a trap that does not benefit Hermes in any way? (And us not seeing that conversation happen is showing and not telling BTW)
Also, the overall claim that Percy, Annabeth and Grover know everything is just… wrong. (@pareiwheeler made a post about this that really made me realize this so go read their post too: https://www.tumblr.com/pareiwheeler/740600563986808832/theres-know-mystery-or-suspense-they-know) They know the small things but the big things? They didn’t think Luke was the thief, they didn't know it was Kronos, they didn’t know they would lose the fourth pearl, they didn’t know the casino would mess with time, they didn’t know the shoes were a trap, etc etc. They walk into these situations thinking they are prepared, thinking they know everything they need to but they DON’T And that is where the suspense lies, in the overarching storyline that is the driving force of the plot. Not in these moment to moment scenes that are not the main conflict.
Now onto the smaller changes that, in my opinion, benefit the overall narrative of this story.
Missing the solstice deadline: Not only is Percy choosing to continue the quest despite missing the deadline such a great character moment for him but this ups the stakes so much!! Zeus and Poseidon are currently at war for the last two episodes of the show and even if they don’t talk about it much, that knowledge is still there in the characters' heads and in the viewers’. Every moment they take in the Underworld, you are watching with the knowledge that war is raging above. And it's a great way to show the kind of hero Percy is and what he will become. Percy doesn’t care he “failed” because he didn’t come all this way just to run back to camp with his tail tucked between his legs because that is not Percy. Percy sneaks out of camp twice to go on quests he was not invited on because he will not let someone’s rules get in his way while he is protecting people he cares about. Percy doesn’t want war to happen so with even the slightest chance he can stop Zeus and Poseidon, he takes it! Also the addition of Poseidon stepping in and saving Percy from Zeus was beautiful.
I also loved that Poseidon gave them 4 pearls instead of 3 because such a small detail shows how Poseidon cares about Percy and Sally. And, plot wise, it didn’t change anything. Percy still left the Underworld without his mom. But starting with 4 pearls gives them hope that they actually can complete the quest AND save Sally. Percy leaving the Underworld without Sally is so much more impactful in the show than the books because of this tiny detail change.
The fact that the pearls take them to the east coast rather than the west coast works well too. I loved that they returned to the cabin because of how important that cabin is not only to Percy and Sally but also to Poseidon.
Hermes being added to the Lotus Casino and bringing in Luke’s background earlier on was beautiful and Lin Manuel Miranda’s performance was one of the standouts for me. It is such a beautiful moment and you can see the anguish in Hermes at his feeling powerless and I think it sets up Percy learning about Luke’s family in The Last Olympian in a great way. This is one of those moments where you can tell the writers and showrunners are playing the long game with this series.
Last but not least, the change in the betrayal scene. I love it. I do. Not only in the changes in the way it happens but how they characterized Luke. Luke clearly does not want to hurt Percy, he wants Percy to help him and to come with Luke because he cares about him. The prophecy states “You shall be betrayed by one who calls you a friend” and Luke in the book didn’t really seem to care about Percy or view him as a friend at the end of it. But Show Luke? He cares about Percy and he is heartbroken that Percy doesn’t side with him. Also the addition of Annabeth hearing Luke’s betrayal first hand was brilliant, in my opinion. Not only were Walker, Charlie and Leah ACTING but it was so much more impactful that Annabeth sees Luke turn and chooses Percy in that moment. And I don’t think it will change much of Annabeth’s actions in the future because you can see how hurt she is and how desperately she still wants him to come back and be good.
Anyway, I think the show is brilliantly done. That isn’t to say it doesn’t have its faults but nothing is perfect and if you were expecting this show to be 100% perfect then I think you just set your expectations too high because that is not realistic.
If you made it to the end of this, I love you. The Percy Jackson brain rot is real and if we don’t get an S2 announcement soon I’m going to riot

Many have said this before, but i feel it's meaningful and important to highlight this.
People watching Hbomberguy's video on Plagarism and Youtube seem to have laser focused in on the particular people he mentions instead of the overall message.
And let me be clear: it's understandable that this happened. Hbomberguy spends most of the 4 hours of the video recounting the types of plagarism he's seen pop around on youtube, naming people like Filip, Iiluminaughty, Internet Historian, and later using those examples to showcase all the forms combined into one, with all of their excuses included, in James Sommerton's chanel. The video does name several well known creators, so on a surface level it could be seen as a "hit piece/call out" towards all of them.
But people seem to have ignored the real message, the real importance of why Hbomberguy mentioned all of those cases.
Most of those people are well known within their fields of content. Its likely that, if people were to watch their videos, they would not go out of their way to look for the other sources of their content if they were, in fact, cited. And, in the most despicable cases, they were not, and with reason: they didn't want to be found out.
Iilluminaughty cited her sources so badly it would have been tedious for the regular viewer to go through them just to find what they wanted.
Internet Historian literally stole man in cave from someone else, narration and all, and when he was found out, instead of being honest, he was fucking sneaky about changing some words to still make it pass as his own.
And what can we say about James Sommerton that hasn't been said?
Ultimately, I feel like people don't really take into account the true harm plagarism does. Plagarism is taking someone's work and passing it as your own. The time destined to actual research, the talent of writers, the personal tone. It is all lost when something is stolen from them just for the sake of content. For the fame and fortune that comes from it.
Internet Historian took the views Man in Cave could have gotten for the real author all to himself.
James Sommerton took the recognition and praise for phrases, ideas, and musings that other queer creators could have gotten, effectively taking the voices of his community and potraying it as his own.
From all of this, I hope we can learn. This is not drama, this is important. I don't want deplatforming for any of the creators that are still here (except for Iiluminaughty, she has done much more than just plagirize). I want Internet Historian to put effort into not plagirizing, to not be sneaky about it by saying "inspired by" and telling the full story of "hey, i stole this, i will do better" and calling for his viewers to give recognition to the article he read. Hell, James Sommerton could start making other types of content that is not stolen from articles if he wants to.
Plagarism is not the end of the world. But it is harmful to creatives of all sorts, and it's important to recognize that and, if we did do plagarism, credit those whose work we used (if its not possible to take down the work whatsoever), and promise to do better and go through with it.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk

I've had all the different Love for Love's Sake interpretations rotating in my brain and kind of picking and choosing what I want to take from each of them, which is a very cool thing we can do with this show because it supports many different reads. I think for me I have landed on a few core ideas that I am stewing on the most:
Is Myungha in control of the game?
One thing I'm feeling pretty solid about is that my preferred interpretation is one where Myungha's consciousness is in control of the game. @jemmo and @biochemjess and @wen-kexing-apologist all offered up some thoughts about this that resonated with me and give me a framework that helps me make sense of the game glitches and server errors as manifestations of Myungha's emotional overwhelm and inability to accept love, rather than a creator forcing cruel choices and punishments on him. I like that idea a lot.
The initial assumption the show invites us to make is that the game world was created by the author based on his own novel, but I don't think that idea holds up as the show goes along. Because if this world we're in was truly based on the novel, I would expect we'd have seen some of it. Instead, we get a world that is populated by Myungha's own significant people--those he loved, those he lost, those he regretted--and no real hints about the novel world we're supposedly in. We never met the novel leads, for instance, or learned that Myungha had pre-existing knowledge of any other characters besides Yeowoon. So that tracks better with Myungha simply pulling his blorbo, the character he identified with most, into this afterlife world he created for himself.
Are Yeowoon and the romance "real" within this world of the show?
Which leads me to the next thing I'm stewing on. Is Yeowoon "real" in any meaningful sense within this universe? Is their relationship? Because functionally, Yeowoon is a mirror of Myungha and a stand in for his own self within the game world. Making Yeowoon happy becomes making Myungha happy. Loving Yeowoon is a form of self love for Myungha. One could argue that because the afterlife feels real to Myungha, it becomes real, and therefore everything that happens counts. But @troubled-mind mentioned in her post that she can't really latch onto the love story in this show because the reality is that Myungha has died and this afterlife is "wishful thinking." As an atheist, that resonates with me, and I think it's perhaps why I was not quite as emotionally moved by the romance ending as some of y'all seem to have been. Don't get me wrong, I thought it was beautiful. But I did not experience this as a happy ending to a love story in the way that some did. More than anything, I think I take it as a final bit of closure, that Myungha was able leave in peace having found some measure of love for himself in his final moments. I don't know that I am sold on the idea this means he is living a whole second life with Yeowoon.
So then, who is the author?
I have also been thinking a lot about who exactly this author is and how he's involved in this game world. @bengiyo suggested that he was someone who loved Myungha in life and created this world out of his own grief, and @twig-tea had suggested to me even before the show ended that the author was trying to help Myungha through the game. I see a logic to these reads, but I can't say either particularly resonated for me, in part because of what I mentioned above re: the cruelty of the game world if the errors are not self-inflicted by Myungha. @crapyouknowme suggested that the author is in fact a manifestation of the star Myungha wished upon, a loving presence that came to him because he yearned for it. I kind of like that idea personally, that this is another form of self-love Myungha willed into existence for himself. @dropthedemiurge wrote that in the end it seems all the text messages of love and yearning were from the author, and I do tend to agree. So under this interpretation, the author appears to Myungha and sends messages of love and guides him back into this game world with Yeowoon because Myungha wills these things for himself. I like that idea that Myungha is ultimately still the one in control of how he chooses to leave the world.
I think ultimately for me, I am arriving at seeing this story as less of a romance and more of a journey to self love and closure at the end of life. I do think there is a hopeful tone to the ending despite how dark the realities of Myungha's story are, and for me that hope is primarily based in his ability to love himself on his way out of this life.

A few adaptations/retellings don't get the significance of the fact that Mary has grown up unloved and for whatever reason try to soften her relationship with her parents. But many of them do grasp just how neglected she's been and highlight it, especially in light of how prickly it has made her. These versions tend to understand the root of her issues relatively easily.
But an overwhelming number of recent adaptations/retellings do not do the same for Colin. It is extremely common for these versions to give him/his equivalent a warm relationship with his now-deceased mother/equivalent. In The Humming Room, Phillip "adored [his mother] and she adored him back," and he is in the depths of depression after losing her. Callie in The Misselthwaite Archives has fond memories of her late mother and footage of the family enjoying happy times in the glade, as well as a father who, even though he's gone frequently, regularly keeps in touch with her through affectionate postcards. When Mary meets Colin in the 2020 film, he talks about his relationship with his mother, how she "loved me hugely" (painfully awkward wording), and her letters back that up. Colin in The Secret Garden on 81st Garden mourns the apparently very recent death of a loving father and, despite his anger toward Mr. Craven, is still surrounded by adults who appear to genuinely care about his wellbeing. Although Clement in The Edge of In Between was an infant when his mother died, he apparently had such a close bond with her already that he lost all color (something that happens to those who succumb to grief in this book's world) after losing her. It's been a while since I've read A Bit of Earth, but if I recall correctly, Colin in that book also knew and loved his mother before her death and struggles more with living up to (perceived?) familial expectations than feeling rejected or unloved.
And I'm not saying that these creative choices were necessarily ineffective within the stories that these authors/creators chose to tell. But it does take the character in a fundamentally different direction. Not only does it eliminate one of the deliberate parallels in his and Mary's backgrounds, but it also alters the root of the character's problems.
There are a lot of messed-up reasons for why he is the way he is, but what it ultimately comes down to is this: Colin is unloved. He has never been loved. Like Mary, he exhibits the behavior he does because he has never learned how to connect with others. It's easy to miss this about him, easy to get so caught up in what a horrid little brat he genuinely is that it might not immediately occur to the reader how loveless his existence has been--every bit as loveless as Mary's. His mother died giving birth to him, his father rejects him because of this, and his caretakers are all "tired of him" and (in one case) have even said in front of him that it would be better for him and everyone else if he died.
No wonder he has such ambivalence toward living. Dickon tells Mary once that his mother believes that unwantedness is "th' worst thing on earth for a child," that "Them as is not wanted scarce ever thrives." And that is the root of Colin's problems, the reason his expectation out of life is to die. This is more of the point than any psychological condition that we might be able to pin on the character--those things are symptoms, not causes. This is why developing strong friendships is so important to his arc, why his getting hugged (possibly for the first time in his life) by Mrs. Sowerby and telling her that he wishes she were his mother is such a poignant moment, why his arc ends with being reunited with and accepted by his father.
(Weirdly enough, an adaptation that did seem to pick up on this was the 1986 musical, in which Colin is introduced with a solo entitled "No One Needs Me." A bit too on-the-nose and self-aware for him to be able to spell out like that, perhaps, but as a summation of the problem? Spot on.)
If, as recent adaptations and retellings interpret him, he is a child who has been loved and has lost that, his behavior as Burnett depicts comes from a different place and possibly makes less sense, his whole character changes, and the themes shift. He becomes someone who needs to work through traditional grief--which in the original book is his father's arc, not his--rather than someone who needs to learn that his existence has meaning and that he can matter to other people (and they to him).
And I think that's why a lot of these reinterpretations of the character feel a bit off to me? There tends to be so much concern for remolding him in light of themes of disability or mental health (which are significant to his character! but not all that there is) that the original point of his being as much an emotionally neglected and unloved child as Mary can get lost in translation.

Author here: my confession is i'm lying. My demoless intro blew up and i kinda can't be asked to write it anymore. I keep posting screenshots of snippets but i'm never gonna release anything. I feel bad cause there are so many asks but i seriously don't have an ounce of care. I love my cast and my story but it’s so hard to write. I've seen a lot of accounts with a lot of hype and asks but no demos so i don't feel terrible and we authors don't owe anyone content anyway. I know it's bad but i love getting sent questions and notes cause people are so interested and it's so fun to post new ideas. Once my hype dies i'll probably just create a new one cause i'm already writing a synopsis for this new story and it's so good.
Hi Anon,
I'm going to get real with you, buddy. I had to write this message multiple times because I ended up being a bit too... angry. And as much as I absolutely don't vibe with this whole position, it would still not be fair to you to get the end of my frustration with it.
So I am trying again, (more) calmly.
I honestly have been wondering if you are maybe lying to yourself when you said you can't be asked to continue your project. You seem to be very enthusiastic about the story and the characters (or you wouldn't be sharing snippets or answer asks about it. What jumped at me was: my demoless intro blew up.
I've answered a lot of asks in the past about creators worried about not being enough because their project didn't get enough attention, but very little when it came to the ones blowing up overnight. But just because your intro blows up, doesn't mean you don't struggle with all of this.
So I have a few questions for you:
Are you having this blasé attitude about your project and giving up because of the heightened expectations of having blown up?
Then you might find getting a break from interaction/the social aspect to help. Or maybe interacting with other creators outside of Tumblr and discuss experiences and what to do when the motivation is gone or it becomes to overwhelming (hint: it's often a break).
Another option is to set expectations about the project. And I mean yours. Creating a grandiose story spanning books and dozens of chapters each and a cast as long as your arm can be incredibly fun, but it might not feasible, and often becomes overwhelming. Maybe take a look at your story and chop it down to manageable bites or remove parts that don't fit.
Do you worry if you actually post it, people will not vibe with it?
In this case, consider alpha/beta testing, where you share more about the story to a select few and request feedback. Joining a writer's group or a smaller IF server to discuss or brainstorm or get feedback on ideas is also a nice way of getting confidence about what you are doing. Some community have even some sort of writer's circle, where multiple people get together and write for an hour or two.
Are you afraid you will be found out as not being a good creator (a.k.a. the imposter syndrome)?
We all start somewhere, and that somewhere is very often bad. Don't sweat it. The good news tho, is that it can't get worse. The more you write, the better you get. (but you have to write first)
Do you want a point of reference? Try reading the first version of my first game. It is cringy as hell, there are a lot of grammar and syntax mistakes... I hate it so much, so I made it public to everyone. Go roast me about it, then go read the much better version (or the other way around.
Do you feel like you are lacking confidence in your ability to finish the project because your experience with the medium is minimal, making it overwhelming?
Pause the project for a bit, and write a tiny game (not more then 1k). Join game jams to test some stuff out. Mess around with the program and see what can be done.
Did your struggle with writing come from realising the amount of work required to make it happen?
Time to break it down in smaller pieces, until it feels doable. Then take one piece at a time. And there is no timeline you need to keep...
Do you feel like you can't do this by yourself and would feel more confident continuing the project if you had more direct support?
Try to reach out to other people and see if someone would be interested in helping you make this project a reality. I've seen many projects being done in duo or trio (Harcourt, Lady Thalia...). It will be a different dynamic, but can be very fulfilling.
Are the characteristics of the IF medium something you can't see working? Does the story not work when variation is added? Is there only one path that works for you?
Maybe, IF is not the medium for this project (or for you). That is also fine!
Not everything will work with IF (hell, even inside the IF sphere, some stories fits better the parser-type or the choice-based one, or the hyperlinks one). Maybe the project should become a novel, or a poem collection, or be turned into a comic/webtoon.
~~~
Before you go on to make another intro post with your new idea on the hope that it will blow up so you can just talk about it and bounce when it becomes too difficult, maybe ask yourself:
why you entered this community in the first place,
why you wanted to try your hand at making IF too,
why this story stuck to you so much you wanted to share it with everyone,
what made the story fun in the first place,
what was the point where the fun in writing actually stopped,
whether you want to abandon a story you seem so passionate about...
Interactive Fiction is an awesome medium, and it's a shame to take it for granted...
Or you can go ahead and post that new idea of yours, continuing to blatantly lie to people to get attention rather than enjoying the medium and the craft for what they are, and toy with people essentially...
I might have been reaching there about the lying to yourself, or the fact that blowing up affected your love for creation more than what you message conveyed...
... and you might actually not give a shit at all about doing anything but throwing ideas at the wall, ignoring the rich and incredible history of Interactive Fiction and its captivating evolution (still happening today), neglecting the vibrant community just to con people for notes and attention that are insignificant in real life, lying to everyone just for the lolz...
You do you boo...
~~~~~~~~
Little reminder for people reading this: Don't send hate to people posting an intro post without a demo assuming they are like this anon. It would really suck if we end up gatekeeping a fun hobby because of one bad apple.
[old comments in tags: I'm sorry but I really don't like liars that do it for the lolz it's not cute gosh i tried to tone done the judgement on this really hard I honestly hope anon is just overwhelmed because they got more attention than they thought they would in the first place /]

Spoon's Q&A, fun facts and more! (NHK Culture Center Class)
Tumblr media
As promised, I have translated the contents of Spoon's NHK class. This post includes answers to the Q&A, fun facts and interesting info I noticed from the session.
Disclaimer: Unless stated otherwise, these aren't direct quotes, nor a literal or complete translation of the whole class (it was over an hour long, it would have taken me much longer...), it's a summary. Also, Spoon talked very fast, so while I fact-checked my notes with native speakers and translators, I could have made mistakes.
Many thanks to my friends @carlachen and @ mananokobako on Twitter for sharing their notes with me!
Q&A
Q: The outfits featured on “Who Made Me A Princess” are very beautiful, what’s the process behind their designs? [Note: This was my question!]
A: When designing the outfits, Spoon researches the appropriate aristocratic costumes and dress codes, mainly from the 1870’s and 1880’s. She also uses material collections, books about clothing and web seaches, and used them as reference for details and hairstyles. In fact, this process could get very research-intensive and take many hours, something Spoon hadn’t anticipated, so she thanks the readers for liking them and taking notice of the clothes’ details.
Q: How did you come up with the name "Spoon"?
A: A friend recommended it to me, saying that the pronunciation of the word "spoon" was cute and that it suited my illustrations.
Q: While there are happy times when you draw manga, you must have also experienced many difficult and sad times. Is there anything that gave you the strength to overcome those difficult times?
A: The words of support and feedback from the readers gave Spoon strenght. When she heard that one of them was able to overcome depression after reading "Who Made Me A Princess", she was really moved to tears. Another happy event she remembers was when a foreign reader sent her a letter and a gift through the publisher company. She was so grateful that they would come all the way here [Korea], and also thanks the publisher company.
Q:  What’s the most important thing to focus on while doing art, and is it needed to receive formal education or one could be self-taught? This may be a contradictory question, but what do you do when you lose interesting in drawing or you don't want to draw? Also, what’s your favorite type of ramen? [Yes this is the correct translation lol]
A: Spoon believes that the most important thing while doing art is to complete your work. If you don't complete it first, you can’t find flaws or bad points in your art to improve. Whether you learn by self-study or by attending art school, if you can become a professional or not depends on your effort. Try to be as specific as possible in your goals, and think about what you need to do to become better at painting than you are now. When Spoon is feeling unmotivated, she thinks to myself, "If I take a break now, I will regret it later, won't I?".
Among Korean ramen, a type called of sesame ramen called "Chamke ramen" is Spoon's favorite.
Q: I was always impressed by the beauty of Spoon-sensei's paintings. I wanted to know if there is an artist that influenced your art.
Tumblr media
A: Spoon’s style has been influenced by the art of Naoko Takeuchi [Called it] author of Sailor Moon, Ikuko Ito, creator of Princess Tutu and animation director of the original Sailor Moon anime, and Katekyo Hitman Reborn’s author, Akira Amano [In fact, Spoon is a big fan of the series. You can check some of her old fanart here]. Spoon says that she respects them very much.
Q: Do you have any stories, manga, TV dramas or anime that have been greatly influential for you?
A: Studio Ghibli’s Nausicaä and Laputa: Castle in the Sky, and Disney’s Moana, stories where the female protagonist has adventures and overcomes adversity. Spoon thinks those stories of growth are really wonderful.
Q: What’s your favorite anime?
A: Spoon likes all the films directed by Hayao Miyazaki.
Q: The person asking this questions comments that, after reading "Who Made Me A Princess" they gradually became interested in family stories in which two characters who were indifferent before become close and come to cherish each other very much. Their question is, since there are many combinations and genre settings, if there's a particular pattern or setting that Spoon personally likes.
A: Spoon likes to see a character change depending on emotions such as love and friendship. Emotions are intangible, but they have the power to change a person's personality and behavior. She thinks that's what is so wonderful about it.
Q: At what stage do you draw the shadows? Do you add them in from the beginning or in the middle [of the process of painting]? Also, when do you start thinking about putting shadows in there? I would like to know if there are any points you are conscious of when drawing.
A: Spoon adds shadows when she is considering the surrounding lighting of the drawing. Even if the object in particular is a flat surface, it's important to paint it as if it were three-dimensional. In order to get better at this, it's absolutely necessary to carefully observe photographs to see the way in which shadows are cast when an object is exposed to light.
Q: When you are drawing, which part do you like the most?
A: Spoon enjoys when she is putting the finishing touches the most. She is filled with a sense of accomplishment after completing it.
Q: In some scenes, Athy does a swirly gesture with her arms when she is embarrassed. The person who asked this question doesn’t quite understand it, as it’s not something you see in Japanese manga, and would like Spoon to explain it a little.
Tumblr media
A: [Spoon shows gifs of Korean TV shows where the participants make a sort of “grabby hands” motion] Spoon laughs and explains that this is a common physical way to convey embarrassment, surprise or cringe in Korean culture [If you search “오글거리다” you can find some examples]. The word used literally means that your limbs "shrink", so that's where the gesture comes from, but it can also be used in other situations, such as being horrified, in pain or cold. In Japan, this is usually represented with goosebumps.
Tumblr media
Spoon elaborates about how certain cultural differences are fascinating. For example, when someone is talking about a character behind their back or in another place, in Japanese media the character will usually sneeze. On the other hand, in Korea that kind of situation has the character’s ears suddenly itching.
Q: The person asking the question says that the way in which Spoon draws jeweled eyes is very beautiful. They want to know how did Spoon think of that idea, or if she developed a process of creating them.
A: How she would draw the jeweled eyes was one of the things that Spoon worried about the most. What she wanted to convey was the feeling of a “cut gemstone”, and how precious, shining and beautiful the eyes look [Here she explains it while doing “cutting” motions with her hands. Think something similar to a karate chop]. She did her very best and is glad that she got a good response from readers.
Q: Athy and her friends looks so beautiful and cute in the dresses they wear. I would like to know what was the most difficult or honestly troublesome dress to draw in your work.
A: The coronation dress was very difficult and time-consuming to draw. At that time, Spoon had to do a lot of things at the same time, such as revising the physical version of the webtoon, so there wasn't enough time to do everything at the same time, but Spoon was happy that the effort she put into it made it look gorgeous.
Q: Who is your favorite character to draw, or the easiest to draw? And who is the most difficult to draw?
A: It’s Athy, because she’s gorgeous and cute. But Spoon also greatly enjoys drawing Lucas. Drawing him is fun because he is handsome and has many expressions. On the other hand, it's difficult to draw cautious characters because their facial expressions don't change much. However, she says that all of the characters are beautiful and elegant, so there’s no character that Spoon dislikes drawing.
Q: What is the most important thing for Spoon to draw in “Who Made Me A Princess”?
A: Spoon expands on the themes of “Who Made Me A Princess”, about the various relationships within the family that wasn't connected to one another. She thought that even if the characters shared blood, they hadn't been able to communicate, so they could only become a family if they thought about each other. And even if they are not connected by blood, if they care about each other they still can become a family.
Q: The person asking the question goes over how the color of both Jennette and Anastasius’ eyes changed once Lucas removed their mana. Jennette’s eyes became green like Penelope’s, while Anastasius’ turned black. It seems like the jeweled eyes are related to the characters' mana. So, if they didn’t have any magic, would Athy's eyes become a beautiful and mysterious color like Diana's, and Claude's eyes would become almost brown like his mother's?
A: Spoon elaborates about how the way in which a person’s eye color is determined is very complex and tricky, as it has to do with genetics, but in this setting it indeed relates to the royal mana. If Athy didn’t have any magic, her eyes would look like Diana’s.
[Note: This is also shown with Aeternitas’ cloudy jeweled eyes, since his mana was very weak].
Q: The person asking this question asks Spoon why was Diana a dancer, and if she could get a little more into Diana’s character, her past and what type of person she was.
A: Spoon imagined Diana as a minstrel or a wandering artist. Like a ballerina in a famous theater troupe who tours, she travels with her dancing and singing, putting on shows in different countries to earn money for her travels, so Spoon characterized her as a free soul.
Q: Obelia is called “the land of eternal springs and summers” in the last chapter. Does that mean winter doesn’t exist there?
A: Spoon says that indeed, there’s no cold weather in Obelia. That's why the characters don't have winter clothes. However, as there are a lot of cute designs for winter clothes, she would like to draw an illustration of the characters in winter clothes in the future.
Q: What your schedule is like when you are working on the series?
A: Spoon exercises as soon as she wakes up, for about 2 hours, eats dinner when she gets home, and starts working right away all the way until she goes to bed.
Q: It’s very rare to see Claude in uniform or tight clothes. The person asking the question wonders why Claude's clothes are so bare and asks Spoon if she could elaborate a little on his fashion sense.
A: Claude used to be a prince who wore his uniform properly, but after meeting Diana, he came to like the more casual or loose style of clothing. So Claude's fashion sense comes from Diana’s influence on him. Even when he didn’t remember her, he kept wearing such clothes because of that influence, and also because he genuinely likes them.
Q: Who’s Spoon’s favorite guy?
A: [With no hesitation] Claude.
Q: How did you improve your drawing skills before becoming an illustrator?
A: Spoon used to emulate her favorite artists and draw fanart.
Q: Do you have a favorite japanese word?
A: When she was traveling in Japan, Spoon was impressed by the name “Nippori” [Referring to Nippori train station]. She looked up the meaning and thought “Oh, so that’s what it means!” [Note: Nippori means “place where the sun sets”]. In Nippori, she didn’t do anything in particular, Spoon just passed by it on the train.
Q: "Who Made Me A Princess" has great clothes, but I also like the flowers that appear in each scene. I know some of them problably don't exist, but is there a flower that you use as a model?
A: It was a long time ago, so Spoon doesn't remember much, but she tried to draw beautiful flowers with overlapping petals.
Q: Is there anything that Spoon-sensei takes special care of in terms of physical condition?
A: Her wrists. Spoon demonstrates how she does her stretching routine. She also takes supplements when needed.
Q: I love Athy's hair color, it's so soft. Did you have any difficulties or problems deciding on that color?
A: At first her hair was a little darker, but Claude's hair is a dark blond and Athy's is a light blonde. So, in order to make a difference between them, Spoon lightened Athy's hair. She had a hard time fixing it so it wouldn't be too bright.
Q: What do you keep in mind about color schemes when you paint? They are always beautiful and I'm always fascinated by them.
A: Spoon tries not to make the color scheme too dark or complex [This answer was hard to hear, it could mean too dark or complicated/oversaturated].
Q: A question asking for commentary on the characters' expression and they way in which Spoon draws them. The answer focuses on Claude’s expression when Athy collapses in Chapter 18. The comments mention how Claude’s perspective of it in Chapter 102 was very moving and made everyone cry. [Here Spoon showed the panel of Claude’s surprised face].
Tumblr media
A: That scene was especially difficult for Spoon. It's a precious scene that shows how Claude had allowed his heart to worry about Athy. It was quite difficult because she had to give the expression a “Claude-like” quality and be careful to not deviate from his personality, but she also had to express how shocked he was. But it was a lot of fun despite the difficulties.
After reading the comments saying that this scene made everyone cry, Spoon adds that this is her favorite scene in the webtoon.
Q: The last question of the class. What will Spoon do in the future?
A: Spoon was thinking of going back to being an illustrator after the serialization of “Who Made Me A Princess” was over, but after the encouragement and happiness she received from readers, she decided to continue as a cartoonist. Look forward to seeing her next work!
Spoon realized that it makes her very happy to see and meet readers who are happy to read the manga she drew. She will continue to create good works as much as she can. She ends the live part of the class thanking us readers.
Q: At what age did you start drawing? [Note: The following questions are direct quotes. Because they were provided in written form, I was able to faithfully translate them].
A: My parents told me that I was very young, ever since I was able to hold a pencil, I was already drawing.
Q: What made you decide to be a cartoonist?
A: I have always dreamed of becoming a cartoonist since I was a child, but I thought it might be difficult, so at first I aimed to become an illustrator. After a while of working as an illustrator, I was asked to make my favorite work into a webtoon and decided to become a cartoonist.
Q: What’s your favorite manga?
A: I really enjoy reading Dungeon Meshi [Delicious in Dungeon] these days.
Q: What’s your favorite Japanese food?
A: I like sushi and ramen / I like cheese and creamy foods. It’s not good for my health… But it’s delicious, isn’t it? ( ;ω;   )
Q: When did your current art style take form?
A: After I started working as an illustrator and studied styles suitable for the genre (mainly romance fantasy), I guess… It’s not completely set in stone, it’s still developing.
Q: I’d like to know what’s your average working time per day.
A: Basically 8 hours, sometimes more than 12 hours when the deadline approaches.
Q: What software do you use for illustration?
A: I use Clip Studio Paint by CELSYS.
Q: Please tell me how to draw jeweled eyes!
A: I posted a tutorial on YouTube. Please watch the SoSpoon channel! [Link to the tutorial]
Q: Please tell us about Athanasia’s daily life!
A: Athy enjoys having tea and cake while performing her duties as princess. She will also play with Lucas, who shows up from time to time.
Q: Did you expect “Who Made Me A Princess” to become so popular in Japan? Did you work with the intention of expanding to overseas from the beginning?
A: At first, I didn’t think about publishing overseas. At that time [when the serialization began, in 2017], it wasn’t a time when overseas expansion was very active [referring to how back then, it wasn’t common for manhwas to get translated into other languages]. I was very happy that Japanese readers enjoyed my work, and I’m looking around for feedback with a lot of gratitude. Thank you so much for all the love.
Q: What does “Who Made Me A Princess” mean for Spoon-sensei?
A: The webtoon “Who Made Me A Princess” is like a benefactor to me. Thanks to this work, I was able to receive a lot of love. Thank you so much.
Q: Have you been asked to make an anime adaptation of “Who Made Me A Princess”?
A: Yes. I heard that it was ranked the 2nd manga that people want to see animated in Japan. Thank you very much.
[This year, “Who Made Me A Princess” has also been nominated to receive an anime adaptation. Read more about it and vote here!]
Fun Facts and Other Info
I'll answer what everyone is probably wondering about first: No, there was no mention of the side stories. But also, no one really asked about it. It seems to be a sort of taboo topic among japanese readers, and since there is some kind of issue with their publication, nobody touched the subject to not ruin the happy mood.
Apparently, Spoon received over 1000 questions for the Q&A.
The NHK translator mentioned that there were students from many countries!
Spoon gave a quick overview of her working tools. They include: a Cintiq 27QHD (tablet), two Dell monitors, and a Streamdeck. She also mentions using a 24-inch pen now, because it's easier to use.
Spoon has volume 9's cover as her PC's wallpaper.
Tumblr media
Spoon's voice is very cute! But wow, she talks so fast. Taking notes was very challenging.
She seemed to be shy but was very happy and looked healthy! The first thing she did was thank the readers for all their support and for giving her strength.
There were many comments about how cute the gestures Spoon made were. I agree!
Spoon has a ton of WMMAP merch. A whole bookshelf filled with it, and I believe she had at least one item of... everything. Even the chinese exclusive merch.
She also had a bunch of WMMAP volumes, both normal and limited versions!
Spoon has a special brush for drawing blushed cheeks, and it's in fact not pink but orange and light red, with the contours being lighter.
She had a very cute crab pencil holder. She said it was a gift from her assistant. Spoon likes it because it has a cute shape and she loves cute things. Like this (green one):
Tumblr media
Most people already saw, but the results of the popularity poll for the character people wanted Spoon to draw were: Athy in 1st place, Lucas 2nd, Claude 3rd, Ijekiel 4th, and lastly Jennette 5th. The numbers of votes weren't revealed. Spoon drew the following illustration to celebrate:
Tumblr media
That's it for now! I've been told that the class will be re-streamed soon (though I don't know if it will be made public or just for those who paid), so I'll try to watch it again and chat with friends that attended the class to see if I can add more interesting information to this post.
(February 4th, 2023 Edit) With the invaluable help of my friend @ mananokobako on Twitter and listening to the class again, I was able to translate new questions and improve on the past translation. I hope everyone can give it another read!

this is me being angry about people's reactions to creative decisions in media so rambling under the cut.
jjk 236 spoilers for those who did not see the tags.
i think it's genuinely concerning how some people consume media. it's your comfort piece of art and something that you adore with all your being and you write about it and post about it and talk about it but the second your favourite dies (said favourite happening to be one of the "hot" characters) boom it's shit and you shouldn't have read it and you come up with insults and slurs towards the creator.
in the past 1.5h i've been awake today i have seem so much hate towards an artist all because of a newly posted chapter and the way it progresses/ends.
yes this is about jjk and chapter 236. (spoilers ahead, last warning)
i feel like the point of any creative piece (writing, visual art, music etc) is to send a message and have the readers/watchers etc feel something because of your work. it's to send an emotion.
remember how we all felt when geto was dying? i sure do. he was and still is my favourite, dead and all. broke my heart -- it all did, not just his death but everything leading up to it (in terms of satosugu moments and symbolism for example). i didn't see this much hate though. maybe this is because by the time he died, he had already become one of the negative characters and people already had new favourites to focus on, heck if i know.
still.
i mean obviously, nobody likes the fact that your favourite character gets killed but it is about the vision of the author/artist etc. geto dying gave us so much symbolism and so many parallels and character development (for gojo, for example) etc without which he probably wouldn't have turned into the character everyone is obsessed with. it was part of a complex backstory and character development, it showed us how the specific character was dealing with problems which aren't that easy to deal with, it showed how the influence of those around him (or lack thereof) affected him and why he ended up choosing the path that he chose etc. yes, it was sad that he died, but it was part of a bigger story. still i think it's unbelievable to insult and criticize someone so much because of a choice they made with the character they created. i get that it sucks that your fav dies or suffers but try to appreciate the fact that no artist owes anyone anything and they are still creating and publishing and putting their art out for you to consume and sharing their creativity with you. would you have preferred that you never had said art piece at all?
imagine you come up with a story that's so awesome to you and you're proud of it but halfway through you start getting hate for it because you kill someone in the middle of it. when it was your story to begin with ?? so you are allowed to do whatever you like ?? literally no rules. but the people criticizing you don't know what you plan to do with this in the long run so they just, well, hate. this is what i cant accept, no matter the fandom or the characters, whether they're fictional or based on real people or stage personas etc. not agreeing with a creative decision (in fiction or otherwise) is perfectly acceptable. sending hate to the creator because you do not like it? unacceptable.
stop consuming it then. it's just as easy to stop as it is to pick up.
and it disgusts me that people who should know better are doing this. people who are fic writers themselves. maybe not directly sending hate to the creator but commenting and posting about it (using dare i say quite shitty wording as well). this is not only telling everyone that you share this opinion but encouraging others who feel the same to follow your example, even if you are not explicitly doing it. you are encouraging, for example, followers that are younger and do not know better (not because "when you're young you don't know anything", but because it is true that at a younger age you are not able to fully understand certain principles and thought processes and what is right or not) to do the same and who knows, said influenced people (whether old or young, doesn't matter) can then take the hate further to the creator. you are inactively telling people who do not know better that it is okay to do this. why? because to you it is "so serious ong" or because "you are disgusted" by this creative decision and so on. as a fic writer on tumblr you sometimes become somebody that readers and those who do not have the confidence to share their work look up to. and you normalize this behaviour because you are upset that the sexy white haired guy died when you liked to write fics about him. you normalize this behaviour and find it acceptable to do this (because if you didn't find it acceptable, would you be doing it in the first place?) just because you refuse to take a deep breath and look at things from another perspective.
in my opinion it also shows that you are unable to take a step back and see the bigger picture or appreciate said creative decision in relation to the whole creative work. how do you know that your favourite dying will not change the story in the best way possible? you do not know, because the story is still ongoing.
so you are basically consuming the media but not actually appreciating any of the work and thought that go into it. you don't see it as something that is trying to send a message. you don't see the work that gets put into it. more importantly, you don't think that maybe the point of the author/creator is to do more than just write hot characters. so you are not appreciating the thought process behind it but when you don't like something? you are way too quick to criticize and insult. i am not saying you should like or agree or enjoy everything that happens. but you also cannot choose to insult and slur your way out of something you don't particularly like, especially when it doesn't seem like you give praise and what is deserved when you do actually agree and like the creative decisions that have been taken. so if you cannot do the opposite (aka being positive about moments in the media you consume) why do you feel the need to be so vocal and negative about things you do not agree with. has it occured to you that maybe you don't understand the full creative thought process?
disagree with creative decisions, come up with actual thoughts on why you think it wasn't right to do so or why it shouldn't have been done in the first place, come up with arguments and reasons why you think it doesn't make sense or why it isn't realistic. analyze the characters and the actions that the creator is making them do. maybe it's out of character or maybe it's a plot hole. who knows. come up with an opinion and justify why it is so "disgusting" for you to experience said part of the work. you will never achieve anything with insults and slander just because you are unhappy.
i don't feel the need for people to validate what i am saying or agree with me. but if you do not agree with me at least try telling me why. this is the essence of what i am saying: you can have a different opinion and not agree with someone but still be respectful of their decision to think or act that way. in art or in the real world.
you will also never know why the person thinks a certain way if you don't at least try to understand or ask them about it.
anyway yea.

Live-Drawing Summary
On August 18th, Webtoon CANVAS did a creator summit where Webtoon authors could teach others and share their process. Sleepacross was one of the many artists who were invited, and they did a live-drawing session.
The Webtoon moderators said that the stream was recorded, but we have no idea as to when it will be published, so I thought it'd be nice to write down the questions and answers that were said in the stream!
This is very much paraphrased and spoken from memory, so some things might be a bit off (and I apologize). I marked the things I am not completely sure about with a "(?)"
If you were in the event too and want to correct me on something, just tell me and I'll edit the post!
Tumblr media
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS:
Q: Which character changed the most and which character changed the least from how they were in the beginning?
A: Sayeon changed the most, Min changed the least.
Q: Who do you like to write more and who do you like to write the least?
A: Sleepacross likes to write Ryujin best, because they like angry women, but doesn't like to write Min as much, because it's hard to get across what Min is thinking.
Q: Who looks better in a suit?
A: [REDACTED]
Q: What are your sources of inspiration for Hand Jumper?
A: Videogames. They cited The Witcher and the author of Berserk as an inspiration. "Thank you to old men."
Q: What will you do after Hand Jumper is finished?
A: Not quite sure. Sleepacross is studying to be a Visdev for videogames. Maybe they will make another webtoon, as they have other ideas, but they are unsure.
Q: How many seasons will Hand Jumper have?
A: Probably 3. Hand Jumper can be a little longer or shorter depending on the pacing of the story.
Q: What character are you most excited to show more of?
A: Samin and Sara Lee.
Q: How did you come up with the magic system for Hand Jumper?
A: Sleepacross wanted to make something a little mystical but that also was a little grounded in reality. They also mentioned that there is soft magic in Hand Jumper. (but their stream froze while they were speaking, so I didn't catch the rest </3)
Q: How do you balance out college and Hand Jumper?
A: They don't.
Q: How did the pitching for Hand Jumper work?
A: Word vomited into a google docs for 2 days and apparently that was good enough for Webtoon, who greenlit the series.
Q: How many assistants do you have?
A: Two flat color assistants, one editor.
Q: Biggest challenge when creating Hand Jumper? (?)
A: Sleepacross wanted to do everything on their own at first, but it was tiring. Eventually they got assistants to help out, and said that we should look for assistants too, if we ever decide to make a comic.
A: Not too far.
Q: How far along was the original Hand Jumper when the originals version got released?
Q: How many episodes did you have ready when you began uploading the original Hand Jumper on Webtoon?
A: Just 2. Don't do that.
Q: Advice for others who are starting their webcomic?
A: Draw what you like, write for yourself, and do test panels to know how the webtoon will look like.
Q: Are there plans to have a physical copy of Hand Jumper?
A: Not yet, but the idea sounds nice. Either way they'd have to redraw the old chapters because they'd rather gauge their eyes out than have them be printed.
Q: What character would you personally simp for who isn't Samin?
A: Ryujin (? I think ?)
Q: Is Iseul actually nice or is he a psycopath?
A: Iseul is nice. They added by saying "Nice characters are nice in my Webcomic."
Q: How much time do you spend working on Hand Jumper?
A: No idea.
Q: What takes the most time to draw in Hand Jumper? (?)
A: Action scenes.
Q: What's most important when making a custom brush on CSP?
A: The pen pressure, so you can get a better feel of your tools.
Q: What brush do you use to lineart? (?)
A: A custom brush lovingly nicknamed "sleep2"
Q: About the songs in Hand Jumper...
A: Sleepacross will upload the songs on youtube eventually, and is working on a new song which they will feature in the first episode of season 2.
Q: When will season 2 come out?
A: No idea, but they are working on it.
Q: Can you make your college work Hand Jumper related?
A: Sadly no, their assignments don't have anything to do with Hand Jumper
Q: What characters do you like the most? (?)
A: Sayeon and Officer Han

Hi, Madara. I bumped into this on Twitter and saw a user post a screenshot that has Ino and Sakura with a text saying this:
“Sakura and Ino were very close friends,  and they had been rivals. Just the other day, they'd been put on a mission as a team.  It had a very sudden assignment, but they'd worked together perfectly, with flawless cooperation. They practically breathed in sync. But to think that they'd come to the same store at the same time, and reached out for the same item in the same instant… it was like fate was pulling a prank on them. They couldn't have pulling off the timing better if they'd planned it beforehand. Maybe they really were breathing in sync. If they'd been man and woman, they might very well have falling in love. Maybe tiny hearts would've been popping and failing around them.”
The screenshot has no source for people to read on their own and it didn't sound like an official interview. It was just pictures of Sakura and Ino and a paragraph above. No name of the interviewer or a comment from Kishimoto.
The next part is from the poster comment.
“The fact that it has been officially stated that Sakura and Ino would have falling in love with each other if they'd been “a man and woman” is so insane to me. Hetnormativiy truly is so nasty.”
This user also shares a lot of ridiculous claims about how Kishimoto is homophobic. And share more “evidence” that Kish wanted Sakuino/Inosaku and SNS to be endgame but was forced into making straight canon ships. When will they realize sexual orientation was never a topic in his story? As far as what was shown, all of his characters are heterosexually until said otherwise by the creator. They need to learn to live that not everyone is going to abide by their fantasy of wanting every straight character gay in the amine/gaming world. They need to entertain authors who do add homosexuality to their works and stop attacking people who don't. I don't see the Heterosexual attacking an author who works surrounds with gay ships and bothering them to add straight couples. And Naruto wasn't about all that, sure they had straight ships but nothing against them. Geez, Kishimoto, and other mangaka are not obligated to make ships for their preference. If this person doesn't like it don't watch or read their work. Instead of making useless misinformation, taken-out-of-context posts they should just focus on posting what they like and not attacking the author and his work. I have seen plenty of Inosaku and SNS shippers who do just that and stay in their line.
I'm sorry if this is a repetitive question you get. You are one of the many blogs that have a commendable sense for the author's work regardless of personal feelings and I wanted to hear your thoughts on this post. Thank you for what you do because it is appreciated by all fandoms.
I'm all but certain that Kishimoto didn't say that quote from your second paragraph. It obviously wouldn't be the first time someone presented a quote as part of an interview and people just believed it because they're sheep. Secondly, that user's comment...
“The fact that it has been officially stated that Sakura and Ino would have falling in love with each other if they'd been “a man and woman” is so insane to me. Heteronormativity truly is so nasty.”
Is yet another example of another one of these buzzwords (heteronormativity) that people like to throw around carelessly. It's not as misused as "misogyny", but it's up there.
Wherever that quote came from, why did it ruffle that person's feathers? Sakura and Ino are canonically heterosexual, they're attracted to the opposite gender. So yes if we're keeping their canon sexualities, they would have needed to be opposite genders in order to feel romantically and/or sexually attracted to each other. That obviously doesn't mean that whoever said that quote is indicating that only a man and a woman can fall in love with each other.
Also...
This user also shares a lot of ridiculous claims about how Kishimoto is homophobic. And share more “evidence” that Kish wanted Sakuino/Inosaku and SNS to be endgame but was forced into making straight canon ships.
That doesn't even make sense. If Kishi apparently wanted SakuIno and SNS to happen, then he's clearly not the one that person should be accusing of homophobia. It's the people who apparently "forced" him into making the straight canon ships that they should be throwing those accusations towards. So not only can they not even form a coherent argument, but the mere fact that they even believe that Kishi wanted those ships in the first place, and then use some made up quote with no sources as evidence, tells me all I need to know regarding their logic and reasoning.
They need to entertain authors who do add homosexuality to their works and stop attacking people who don't. I don't see the Heterosexual attacking an author who works surrounds with gay ships and bothering them to add straight couples.
💯
That is the single best and most truthful thing I've read in a while, seriously. I wish people would remember that the next time they feel like bitching about a lack of LGBT representation in a work of fiction. Not every work has to feature diverse representation of everything.

Oh my god I literally cannot convey to you that stumbling on this blog felt like seeing the sunlight again after being trapped underground for months. I thought I was crazy for finding fault with genloss because I have not seen any actual valid criticism anywhere and I thought I was losing my mind for not seeing the glory that is the, ‘next wave of indie horror content’.
Please.
There’s more horror in an average retail store on any given weekend than this entire series has in its three episodes.
Christ I don’t even know where to begin with this thing.
I’m not a film student but I’ve read the other film student anons’ posts and they are so incredibly right. There is so much about the series that felt hastily thrown together and I also loathe the phrase ‘intentionally bad’ when it’s something that’s been hyped up for as long as it has and yet, fell so incredibly flat. I have never been more bored, irritated, and confused watching a piece of media before, and have continued to feel this way as I watch diehard fans of Ranboo tout how great of a series it is?
Hey, Boobers- cmere, let me tell you a secret, genloss ain’t all it’s cracked up to be.
It’s a lukewarm, lackluster production at best, and if I didn’t know going in that this was supposed to be Ranboo’s passion project, it literally feels like a school assignment he had only the bare interest in putting together. God this thing has no soul. It has no spark. And it hurts so much to know that this is what this great incredibly hyped-up project became, because from how they talked about it, it's obvious Ranboo loves this thing, and I wanted to love it too.
But it ain’t good. And someone should’ve told him long before now it needs massive edits, and I get it, getting hard criticism is painful and isn't fun, but if it makes your end product better, your piece of entertainment content more enjoyable for the consumer, then you gotta listen and bare it.
I’m an author and I know they do it because they love me, but whenever my editors are like ‘ayo this shit is whack wtf you talking about’ it does hurt my pride but!!!! But!!!!!!!! I go back and take a harder look at that section and sometimes I stand by what I wrote, but other times I now see what was wrong with it and make the edits. Sometimes entire concepts have to get cut to trim down the story and make it more cohesive and that also sucks, but you just tuck those ideas away for later or another project, and tbh I do not feel like anyone did this with the genloss concept.
This entire story feels like it is stapled together and there is literally no through line!! It is a random bag of ideas mashed together to form what I imagine an AI would generate if you typed in ‘mall, horror, evil cooperation’. Fuck it hurts. It hurts so much to be someone that is so passionate about storytelling and writing to see genloss get the attention it has, and for Ranboo to be praised for their ‘excellent writing skills’.
I do understand this was probably their second real attempt at writing a story for public consumption (first being his character’s arc in the dsmp), and like, nothing anyone writes on their second attempt to tell a story is gonna be great. Mine wasn’t, no writer’s is, and that’s okay I really genuinely get that, my problem is how the production was hyped up, how the budget was apparently blown on so much wasteful crap, and then how no one with experience telling stories took a look at his concept before production began.
It makes me sick to know that box cost 18k. Do you know what I, and many other small creators, could do with that kinda money?
This was a few weeks ago? Maybe last week? But Ranboo said over here on the tumbles that they were thinking about genloss in written form, IE a book, and I think I literally blacked out I got so angry. I am also writing a book (hahahaha hi it is not easy!) and I honestly don’t think it's half bad, but I have still been fighting tooth and nail to get eyes on it and nothing makes me angrier than knowing Ranboo could slap some half-baked shit into a word doc, get whatever kind of fancy printing they wanted, and sell more copies than I likely ever will.
I don’t wish anything ill on the dude, he seems like a nice person and I hope he succeeds, but jesus christ, someone needs to be real with them on their writing and story construction. TBH I think a large part of the problem is how rabid his fanbase is, so any kind of criticism gets buried under threats and just, people blowing smoke up his ass, and that is not helpful to him as a creator!! Dude wants to grow and improve, stop telling them genloss is the best thing since sliced bread!!
Let him get his feelings hurt over this, let them take that and make it their drive, let him know he can do better.
If you keep settling for mediocrity, you never push yourself to do something great.
But that’s just my two cents. Thank you for letting me word vomit in your inbox, I have been going crazy and I will likely be back <3
-the author anon
this blog is collecting anons representing all the creative aspects of gen loss like pokemon. first film student anon. now author anon.
but in all seriousness i'm glad this blog is a breath of fresh air for you <3 you're right! my first couple attempts at writing (mostly fanfiction, some original) i am very glad they do not exist online. part of writing well is being kind of really bad at it for a bit. ive taken a writing class (in college) and the entire foundation of that class was "we will write and then your classmates will give you feedback" and it made a lot of my work so much better. feedback is like. how you get good and i feel like you're right, the fanbase does drown a lot of that out (hence me making a dedicated blog!)
i hadn't heard of the gen loss book concept before this but. i can't imagine it would be super great at the current form of gen loss is in. and writing is so much more than "here's the plot" like. establishing a good setting and sense of place and making us actually connect with the protagonist and. author anon that awakened something in me
Let him get his feelings hurt over this, let them take that and make it their drive, let him know he can do better. If you keep settling for mediocrity, you never push yourself to do something great.
anyways. great thoughts! reposting that quote for those in the back :)

Ren! I'm here to praise you a little
I just.. I am speechless. It's not that I didn't think you could do it - in fact, I believed in you immediately. But it's that you take an idea and never "just" execute it. You always do it with such passion and drive and, if I may, strength, and it always turns out to be something spectacular. You, my dear, are a genius, and I know it comes at a cost, but I hope you never shy away from it.
I'm of course talking more specifically about your remaster of ACWTA but it also applies to anything you do.
About the remaster though... Ren, when I tell you that you truly bring excitement into me like nothing else does. As I sat in front of it, about to begin (and this was despite having tested parts of it beforehand!) I felt like the kid I was when I got Sims 2 that one Christmas and I was so excited about it and happy, blissful. You made the same feeling happen to me with your story! I just knew I was getting into something that would truly suck me in and keep me there.
And you really did manage to do that. What a genius idea to have chosen this fic as your first "adventure". Disclaimer: I still haven't reached all the endings but what I did see of it blew my fucking mind. I loved the additions that I could see. I gasped when I was able to reach for his bookshelf and see that book by that author.. I gasped on many occasions actually but I'll talk about it more in my reblog later so as not to spoil anyone should you choose to post this long ass rambly ass ask.
I was completely enthralled the moment I began to play. The atmosphere, both in words and in sounds, just captivated me immediately. I found myself exploring possibilities for a while, and an hour later I was still naked on my bed with my laptop, spending time with my favorite murder artist. (Also, murder artist? Ren, did I ever tell you how sexy I find this?)
It's the attention to detail that you have, Ren. I see it. I see it, I appreciate it. From the overall look of the website, from those carefully picked and edited sound effects/ost, from each and every word that you wrote, from each and little pieces of information you give us... That's simply unmatched. And I might be a little controversial here if this does goes on your blog, but I'll say it - I definitely don't expect the average tumblrina to understand that, to understand your talent. Not those after cheap thrills and bullet point lists and "skz as boyfriends, lowercase intended" readers, not the "daddy channie let me suck and please fuck my teeny tiny one-inch-wide vagina" addicts. There, I said it. And I mean it. What you offer is so many steps ahead than what's on here.
What you offer is so rich. Delving into one of your worlds is like being wrapped in silk, in velvet, it's like being swallowed by this amber-colored light that is warm and comforting. What you offer is so intelligent and multi-layered that it leaves your readers thinking about it long after we've reached the end, and makes us come back to it. I've always thought this: that if, upon one's second readthrough of a story/rewatch of a movie etc you discover new things about it, understand it in a new light etc, it's a sign that its creator is intelligent and talented. And that's what you offer. That's what you do. I often go back to reread your stories or parts of them and each time, I appreciate a new detail about it, I understand something differently, etc.
And now with THIS? This interactive masterpiece? I was so served. I actually can't wait to get back to it, I woke up too early and immediately thought "oh I get to play acwta so I better stay up". (if you know me at all and I know you do, you know I'm not a morning person at all so I really meant this as a compliment)
Ren, you are an incredible woman, and you hold an immense ocean of talent within you. Thank you for existing, and thank you for sharing that with us. I know that everything you create is full of you, your heart, your soul, blood sweat and tears literally. And I admire that. I've admired you since the day I laid eyes on your work, and I don't see that changing any time soon. Or ever, if I may be so honest.
It is such an immense privilege to read you.
[ not a sponsored message ]
Not a sponsored messnsjejdkfm Well, that did make me chuckle, but the rest of the message moved something in me. Especially the part about The Sims even if it may sound silly. That game holds a ridiculous amount of space in my heart and I still remember the cdkey to the first game (@ the Goths, y'all have contributed to the person I am today, just putting it out there).
I talk to myself a lot, and I tend to believe in the negative much more easily than the positive. But every once in a while, you make me believe in the possibility that the positive might be true. I will forever be grateful to you for that.
Thank you for everything. Here's a silly emoji for the lolz ("How to trap Hwang Hyunjin 101"):

Just wanted to let you know maybe you should rewrite some parts in your story. You've turned Sirius into one dimensional character only focused on remus and his issues. You also need to add some angst with the wolfstar.
I read part of main story and one shots. All the same. I think you hate Sirius. Or else you're not a good writer?
Either way. I hope to read if you fix it.
People actually wonder why authors and other creators are leaving the fandom?????
And I'm a little blog with a story with low hits, so I can't imagine what authors with larger reader base/following than me must see in their inbox.
There are so many things wrong with this ask that I don't know where to start. But I'll try.
1. If you don't like something or a characterization- there's a simple fix-move on. Find another fic. Do NOT go into an authors comment section or inbox with your complaints.
There are so many fics, different ways characters are written. Find an author you like (encourage them without pressure), then check their AO3 bookmarks, or see if they've done any fic recs. Maybe ask them?
2. I am not rewriting my story.
3. You should never demand that.
Write your own story, and do it better than me. If it's a story with disabled remus, then I'll probably find it and read it. And if I like it, comment nice things.
4. Please don't read anything else I write.
5. Also. If you didn't like the way I wrote the characters, then **why** would you go read more of my stories?? Yes, writers do change and grow and one take on a character might not look the same in one fic they write in comparison to another of their fics. And some might appreciate another chance, but... If you consistently don't like it, like I said above, move on.
6. If you read tags, you knew especially in silence between us, that it's soft wolfstar and their angst will come from outside the relationship. If you didn't like that, you should never have started. They had enough things in their past that they are still dealing with, I didn't want to add to that.
7. I don't hate Sirius. If I did, why would I write and read wolfstar? Yes, I kin remus and his disabilities mean a lot to me... But so does Sirius' mental health. And as someone who relates with remus so closely, I adore Sirius and want him to be happy and safe and have all the best things.
8. Ok. I'm not really sure what else you're referring to with one dimension with my Sirius, he's falling in love with remus so that gets focus, yes, but I also try to show the established relationships that he has. He brings a past into this, his own fears, insecurities, and trying to get help for his anxiety and nightmares. I know I'm not the best writer but I did try to give him development.
But at the end of the day-- I'm happy with my characterizations, their relationships and the story I wanted to tell-- so that is all that really matters. A handful of other people just so happened to enjoy it with me which made it even better.
Sorry you didn't enjoy it. Also, not really sorry at all bc you felt the need to come in here and make me feel bad.

Creator's Corner - Uissuteffu
How did you become a fan of the Inuyasha fandom?
Inuyasha wasn’t the first, but it was definitely the gateway to my love of anime. When the show was put on hiatus to wait for RT to finish the manga, I craved more! I started reading fanfic to fill the gap while I patiently awaited The Final Act.
What are your favourite fanfic tropes as a writer?
All the tropes! To me, fanfiction is about embracing fantasy. I avoid it in original writing, but tropes are fun to share with countless others in the community. I don’t know if I’ve met a (non-morally questionable) trope that I haven’t embraced.
And as a reader?
Haha! Same answer as above. I’m partial to pack dynamics and pining, though.
Which of your work is your personal favourite? The one you are most proud of?
Ikigai. I think it was probably my most unique premise, and I’ve spent a lot of time world-building. I have roughly three books worth of content prepared for it. Plus, it explores issues with mental health through various characters, and I think I’ve handled them with care. When readers leave comments affirming that, it makes me feel extremely proud.
Which SessKag fanfiction by another author is your go-to choice for a great read?
This is an impossible question! First of all, Gilded Sapphire contains many authors that I could list as my favorites. Anyone whose interview pops up in these spotlights likely has a story I’ve revisited several times. I’ll choose someone new to the server whose stories I often revisit. It’s still a hard choice, but I’ll go with Transgressions by Wonderbug (please heed the tags if you read it).
What do you think makes a good story?
A good story has one of two things: creativity or a strong grasp of language, and the ability to use it to invoke imagery. A great story has both!
Is there anything you need while writing? Snacks? Music? A comfy blanket?
Nope. My dynamic when it comes to writing is basically “If I fits, I sits”. I write in bed, in the shower, outside, inside, at the desk, on the couch, on my phone, on my tablet, on the pc. There’s no ritual to it at all.
How do you get your ideas? In your dreams? In the shower?
I don’t know, really. They just kind of hit, and I jot them down in Google Docs.
If you could meet an Inuyasha character, what would you tell them?
I’d like to meet Tōga so I could tell him he’s kind of an asshole for putting Sesshōmaru through that shit in the name of teaching compassion. THERE ARE BETTER WAYS, MY DUDE!
As a writer, which animal (real or otherwise) best describes you?
Can we consider yōkai animals so that I can say “Shirime”? They’re harmless, terrifying little creatures that thrive on scaring people. As a writer of primarily angst and horror, I’d say that’s fairly fitting. P.S. Don’t Google it. Just don’t.
What is your kryptonite as a writer?
I definitely struggle most with trimming dialogue. I’m selectively mute in real life, so conversation isn’t natural or instinctive for me, and I think that often shows in my writing.
What advice would you give someone who wants to start writing?
My answer to this is always a Stephen King quote from his (fantastic) book “On Writing”: “If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot.”

hello author, I'm very sorry if the question is a bit heavy or strange but this is something that I can't get out of my mind for about three weeks
in an alternate Au MC contracts a terminal illness that is not known how to cure or there is not much information about it.
this would happen before James abdicated I had the doubt if James would do it even knowing that his twin would not live many years or he would take the throne, how do the queen and the Other RO's react to the disease that seems MC?I also have another doubt about how F would react when he comes back and knows about the MC thing
I imagine an MC in a bed while the royal family doctor does a treatment to relieve the suffocating and stabbing pain in the MC's body who while holding the hand of a James worried and dismayed seeing his twin suffer from this disease, when the treatment ends and he manages to relieve MC's pain a little, James wipes his twin's tears and proceeds to join his forehead with his brother's saying that already that soon he will feel better trying not to cry too, here James tries desperately in striving to be strong and cope with this not because of pride or something like that for him but because of his brother who needs him in these difficult and overwhelming moments. or another where MC is in an old wheelchair being pushed by Ana taking a walk through the royal gardens and being accompanied by a Constantine
I'm very sorry author if the text is too heavy and boring I can't deny that I love overwhelming and tragic scenarios I hope I'm not too annoying for you and it's the second time I gather the courage to write in an app
P. D I love the characters, the way of narrating each scenario, the character, the emotions and feelings that are reflected in each chapter included in all of the above that I have said and how the story develops as the choices we make. I look forward to the new updates you upload and take your time there is no rush!!💖 . OH yes!! I forgot the above about James, MC and Ana and Constantino, that's what didn't let me in peace and sleep well so I thought I'd ask you since you are the creator and author of this magnificent creation
thank you for coming this far and be patient with me if you read this😖🥰☺️ I hope that everything I wrote is understood since I don't speak English use the Google translator since I finished correcting and shortening many words uff I hope everything is understood😖 it took me about 3 or 2 hours
Wow, I may have cried a few happy tears from your very sweet and kind message!! I feel bad that you spent so long working on this! But it was very interesting to read and I'm so glad that you did share it because I loved reading it. I hope you will gather the courage to share more <3
It was not boring or too heavy at all - amazing, just like you dear anon <3 I feel so inspired and honored that you were thinking about my game, its characters, and world this deeply.
this would happen before James abdicated I had the doubt if James would do it even knowing that his twin would not live many years or he would take the throne, how do the queen and the Other RO's react to the disease that seems MC?I also have another doubt about how F would react when he comes back and knows about the MC thing
Notes on James and F:
It's difficult for me to answer about whether James would abdicate or not. If the King had not died, he would not have abdicated. But that did happen. However, despite his reasons in the game world for doing so, I do not think he would in this alternate universe. He would not want to put more on his sibling when they are already suffering.
F would experience a heartbreak like none other when they came back to discover MC has a terminal illness. They would be in denial and search every book for answers, constantly giving the doctor new ideas or theories. They would do this until MC takes their last breath and then it would hit them.
As for ROs actual reactions + Vivian:
Constantine: He would struggle to find his words. You've left him speechless more times than he can count. But this...this is different. This is a moment where he feels frozen in time. His throat constricts thinking that one day soon he will never hear your voice again, or see your smile. He'll stay by your side until the very end. Every moment, both the good and the bad - he will ensure you are not alone through this. He is yours.
Felix: Felix couldn't comprehend the news at first. You're dying. And there's no way to save you. But how can that be? You are the light in what was a worthless world for him. You showed him how to live, how to live for himself. And for you. He has never been much of a praying man but he's in the temple day and night, whenever he's not by your side. Because he knows the comfort you bring him is fading with your life. But he also knows he must prepare for a world without you. And he is once again, lost.
Margaret: The twinkle in your eyes is gone and along with it, the twinkle of the stars. Because you are magnificent and brilliant and divine. And she can feel you slipping away from her. Margaret is angry. An anger that cannot be spoken through words. Or thoughts. Or even actions. An anger that just wraps itself around your bones and lingers. She doesn't know how to feel anything but discontent.
F: The news crushes them. They were already regretful of leaving but now they wonder about the time lost. Time they could have heard your laugh or seen your smile. How long until you're gone and they forget the sound of your voice? F knows that these thoughts are just wasting the precious time left - so they push them away. You're here now and they need to spend every spare moment with you. Memorizing you and the way the light hits your skin. They can continue their pity party after you're gone.
Vivian: Your father was ripped from her. And now she watches you waste into oblivion. She wants to wrap you in a hug and never let you go. Vivian wishes she could go to Avernus instead of you. Or perhaps, she wishes she could fight Letum. He couldn't possibly win against this mother's love for her child. Vivian squeeze your hand, not bothering to hide her tears. She solves problems. But this one...this one is out of her reache and she wants to burn the world down for an answer.
I imagine an MC in a bed while the royal family doctor does a treatment to relieve the suffocating and stabbing pain in the MC's body who while holding the hand of a James worried...
I'm not sure what else to add here, because you did an amazing job capturing James and the way he cares about his sibling. I don't think I could add anything valuable because I can tell you really understand who I intend James to be.
or another where MC is in an old wheelchair being pushed by Ana taking a walk through the royal gardens and being accompanied by a Constantine
I'll expand here a bit on how I think it could go.
Constantine walks by your side as Anna pushes you through the gardens. You chat for a while before Anna brings you to a stop at your favorite spot, a bench by the fountain with the prettiest flowers in the whole garden.
Anna smiles, patting your hand. "I'll be back soon," she says. Constantine takes a seat on the bench, staying close to your side.
Anna smiles softly as she looks over her shoulder. We're going to be lost without you, she thinks.
Constantine gently takes your frail hand and he traces his thumb along your skin. How much longer will I be able to feel the warmth of your hand in mine? He shakes his head, turning his heartbroken blue gaze to your eyes.
You smile at him, but your eyes hold a similar sadness. It's not the fact that you're terminally ill. But the way the people you care about look at you as if their hearts have been ripped from their chests. "I love you," you tell him softly.
"And I love you, my heart," he replies before brushing a kiss along your wrist. "Now, why don't you finish telling me that story about James? You know I need all the details since you won't be around to tease him with me."
You chuckle before launching back into your tale. Despite everything, you know Constantine will take care of your brother and that lightens your aching heart. It's enough.
It has to be.

Again, thank you so much for sharing your idea and your super sweet message. You are a kind person <3
