Chapter 9

He hasn’t seen himself yet, and he doesn’t see himself now. He looks different, a crude copy of himself; bags stick out as bright, purple bruises under his eyes, his hair too long and looking brittle like hay. It feels rough under his fingers as he reaches up and combs his fingers through his hair. Gepard feels and looks like a corpse, his eyes the same blue he knows but dulled somehow. It's a wonder that the Serval and Lynx, let alone the Silvermane Guards, had recognized him at all. He couldn't even recognize himself.

The tram car shudders as it leaves the tunnel, the Underground illuminated with pale, flickering lights and the glow of geomarrow in the cavern's ceiling. His reflection is gone, something he’s glad for, now replaced with the dark and varied cityscape of Boulder Town. Gepard stares out the window and across the wide expanse of the Underworld and clenches his jaw.

“I'll find him,” he whispers low and only to himself as the tram screeches to a halt in the station. He mutters it to himself again and again as he gets to his feet, stumbles a bit before leaning his weight heavily on the crutch. “I’ll find him.” He chews the words between his teeth until he believes them with absolute certainty.

About Emily: Yes, those are indeed white hairs (largely inspired by my older sister). It was caused by immense stress during the war, and although it has already ended for a couple of years, Emily and Trellis do still reel from their harsh experiences.

About EK: any colored border means it's an event that took place in the past. In this case, this was EK's and Trellis's duel for the throne.

About Karen: how come she overheard their conversation? With the kind of people Emily and Trellis are, and the nature of their conversation, you'd think they'd close the door? Well, instead of getting the answer several months later once I release the complete comic in pdf form alongside with additional content like short comics and minor illustrations, I'll say it now: they couldn't because Emily blasted her door off its hinges a few days prior (Emily + cockroach on the door = no door).

The panel of Trellis and his mom is based on @theeio 's gift art for me back when Supernova was recently released. Thank you Spoon for letting me use it!

As for the symbolism explanation, I was hoping to release it all at once after I've finished the comic, but alas that will take forever. Therefore, I will release it that explains more about parts 1 and 2 in compiled form 👍

Minor announcement: Part 3 will be greatly delayed. This comic WILL be finished, but I will very busy this month of May, and maybe even June, so it may not be released monthly as I had planned. I'm terribly sorry for the inconvenience :(

OK SO IM COOKING, I DUNNO MUCH ABOUT EMANATORS

But what if him being an Emanator, having some line of direct contact with his Aeon (being allowed to have almost as much power as him), made him see another aspect of Aha's nature that others cant really see?

Like, yes, chaos with 0 disregard for others IS part of the Elation's path. But what if Sampo sees the other little nuances, and he finds THOSE to be the most important? That, after being in direct contact with a power that should supposedly help him cause disruption with no consecuences, he ends up finding that Aha is not only chaos for the sake of chaos?

Which is why he leaves the masked fools, and goes to a planet where he is likely to not be tracked. A planet where he will be isolated for a long ass time. But, of course, the narrative has to continue, and eventually the Belobog chapter arrives. And he plays along, and helps it reach the end. But he knows things will change now, its only certain. He knows he needs his mask.

honestly there's no doubt in my mind that sampo is an emanator of aha like. i think hoyo would have to throw a massive curveball at me for me to be doubtful so much jus seems to work in him being an emanator

and i want to know so much about it cuz i mean. he's a FORMER masked fool. we heard him talk to giovanni about how he disagrees with other fools' ideas of elation. he clearly dislikes sparkle for that reason in that her idea of elation includes hurting people and causing harm. he seems to have a very... like in terms of his own ideas of elation, he's very moral? he has strong morals in that regard and disdain for people who follow elation through causing harm to other people and forms of elation that is at other peoples expense.

which as an emanator. i wonder if he even Wants to be an emanator. like sure he engages in his own chaos and hasnt abandoned elation fully but he seems to reject a lot of others who follow the elation. like it could very much be that in leaving/rejecting the masked fools and abandoning his mask, that was his attempt to abandon being an emanator at all.
