Mall AU scene setting balony.

Big post for the major characters (well. just my personal favorite characters) in my babychild Mall AU since I actually kinda wanna do more with it lol

The jobs & small descriptions of the other characters can be found in this post

NOTE: This is basically a collaborative effort AU bc of how goofy silly it is. If you have an idea (esp for the characters I clearly haven't/won't develop) shoot me an ask!!!! talk to me !!!! lets all have fun with this thing!!!

- Set in a coastal town in Oregon (but a fake one. Like how Stephan King does it)

- Population is just slightly above “everyone knows everyone”, but everyone at least knows someone who knows someone you don’t know

- Aside from the beach, the mall is like the Big Attraction which is why so many people flock to work there as their first job

Quackity (Manager at Spencer’s)

- In the foster system most of his life after being taken away from his parents as a kid

- Bonded with Tubbo extremely fast and was honestly more of a parent to him than their actual foster parents

- Foster parents passed in an accident, after a month of confusing legal junk he & Tubbo were left a house on the oregon coast and Quackity was made Tubbo’s sole caregiver

- He was given a year (the length the house was prepaid off to) to prove he could be a reliable caregiver

- Met Schlatt a couple months into the move, the two started going out almost immediately

- Schlatt was very possessive and only let Q hang around people he “approved of” (those being Schlatt’s own friends, one of which being Wilbur)

- Despite the downhill of the relationship Schlatt was helping with payments on the house and keeping everything in order so Quackity could remain in care of Tubbo so Q kinda just put up with everything

- Two years into the relationship Schlatt ended up dying bc [bro idk he just dies i dont care enough to sort this out]

- Despite rarely seeing eye-to-eye, Wilbur was quick to step in and help Quackity find his footing. He offered him a job at the HT in the mall, but Quackity ended up getting the manager position at the Spencer’s through chance.

- Is still scarred and blinded in his left eye, but not as intensely. Got it from a less-than-ideal foster family prior to his one with Tubbo.

- Gets a new piercing every time there’s a crisis in his life

- A couple of tattoos here and there (Most significant are the golden wings on his back)

- Occasional stress smoker but not an addict

- Wasn’t actually aware poly was a thing before Sapnap & Karl came along

- Has psychosis but is slowly starting to manage it better

- Ossium is his pet Python, has a pet deathstalker scorpion as well

- Despite his complaining, he really does appreciate Sam’s parental-ish care for him since he’s not very used to the concept

Sapnap (Disney Store)

- Adopted by BBH when he was 8

- Met Dream and George when he was 10 and decided at that moment they would be his besties forever. He has very much held true to this.

- Eryn was adopted into the family when he was 12. He dedicated his life to caring for him.

- Ended up becoming pretty close with Wilbur bc of their brother’s friendship

- Is also just generally close with Tommy and hangs out with him a lot on their breaks

- Applied to work at Vans in the mall pretty much the second he turned 18

- Became the asst. manager like 7 months in

- Has abandonment anxiety so he likes to hold people’s hands a Lot

- Runs hot naturally

- Has a pet skunk named Sketchers that he got for free from some guy on the beach (stink gland removed)

- Proposes to Karl & Q daily. They’re not sure if he’s serious. (He is.)

- Does fencing + archery for fun

- Lives almost basically on the beach

- Slight kleptomaniac, quells this by taking Q & Sap’s clothes

- Rarely talks abt his own problems so he kinda just listens to everyone else’s

- Feels bad for Quackity so he never takes issues with letting Tubbo stay over if Q has to avoid spending money on other basic necessities to keep up with house payments

- Is very nosy but has a charm that kinda makes people wanna rant abt their problems to him

- Loves his HT job, is very bitter towards his friends who chose other places in the same damn mall to work instead of working with him

Tommy (Build-a-Bear)

- Started working at BaB when he wasn’t even old enough

- Sam just likes him a lot and fell victim to the puppy dog eyes

- Applied to the lego store first bc he wanted to work with Eryn. Refuses to shop there now after being rejected

- Barely ever actually in the store if he’s not on the clock. Loves bothering Sapnap specifically

- Unironically calls Phil dad but tells everything it’s totally ironic

- Doesn’t rlly gaf abt his lack of an actual parent and is cool with just having Wilbur around

- Rivalry with Dream that he’s not sure how it started but loves to encourage it

- Didn’t have a huge plan for how his life was supposed to go so when Q called and said “my life sucks please move here”, he moved!

- Very charming loved by basically everyone

- Was basically like a dad to a lot of people but never had someone to Truly care abt bc everyone always had someone else

jealous protective grayson

we all know grayson dolan to be an excellent builder. good with his hands and passionate about tools, wood and the happiness he spreads in his creations. grayson was eager to build anything and everything, from skate ramps and bookshelves, to a record playing table and a display for his beloved diamond play button.

ethan was always happy for grayson to build his heart away, delighted to have new and free decorations in their home. but ethan, being the smart and sensible man he is, drew the line at grayson single handedly building a basket ball court over their pool. somehow he managed to convince a stubborn grayson to bring in professionals, at a much greater costs to get the job done probably and safely.

ethan watched on anxiously as grayson stood in the kitchen dressed in nothing but workout shorts, staring out the window with an angry growl and steam coming out of his ears. he was starting to doubt his older brother mentality, questioning his decision on not letting grayson do the job himself in order to prevent a blow up from happening.

grayson never moved a muscle as he watched brody, the builder who he didn't care to learn or remember the name of, flirt with his girl. his girl, who was minding her own business working out in the twins homemade gym like you did every morning. the one time grayson failed to join you, you get cat called and hollered at in your own home.

you never questioned the acceptability of wearing just a sports bra and booty shorts to work out in was to revealing in a house where there was a contact flow of people coming and going, as they were your friends, your family. you felt comfortable but as you tried to block out the very obvious, poor flirting from a strange man in your home, you were suddenly regretting your attire.

grayson could see how visible uncomfortable you were starting to get. the way you tried to avoid eye contact and distance yourself greatly while rounding up your workout for the day. grayson knew not to distract you when you were in your zone, he adrmied your determination and he himself enjoyed the view of you working out. but this, having eyes that weren’t his doing the same and gawking at you, was taking it to a whole new level. 

your now very angry and extremely over protective boyfriend, let his rage take over the second he watched the unknown man try and touch your bicep, claiming he was and i quote “impressive a woman like yourself had such a sexy body”. what seemed to be a simple, let me feel those muscles and get you into bed with me’, had grayson springing into action and coming to his girls aid. ready to both mark his territory and teach the man a lesson on how to respect woman.

his girl was not to be messed with.

ethan wasnt far behind, scare of how his brother wasn't going to react but also feeling a sense of protection over his brothers girl when he saw how visibly uncomfortable you looked. everything was off limits when it came to grayson’s soulmate, for both boys.

“YO!” 

you turned your head hurriedly at the loud yet comforting voice of a livid grayson. his broad shoulders puffed out to make himself look even more intimidating than he already was. his face sporting an angry frown and his fists clenched tightly to his sides. you had to bite down on your lip to control your thoughts on how turned on he made you.

his arm veins prominent as he flexed. an angry grayson was always promising in the bedroom. 

“wanna explain what the fuck is going on here,” grayson jumps in front of you almost immediately, his body acting as a shield against the unwanted attention you had been receiving when all you wanted to do was do was perfect your pull ups grayson had spent countless hours teaching you. he was always your personal cheerleader. hyping you up and showering you in praise and support in all aspects of life.

brodys eyes widened and shifted warily behind grayson’s shoulder to get a look at you. hoping you would step in and save him from the man who looked about ready to pummel his face to the ground. 

“dont look at her. you look at me,” grayson took a small step forward, causing both brody to step back holding his hands up in surrender and ethan to jump between the pair, hand on grayson’s chest to hold him back as he knew this wasn’t going to end you. 

“what gives you the right to touch her, huh? MY girl, in MY house, s‘not gonna fly with me.”

“gray, baby, im ok-” you reach your much smaller hand down to capture his tense one. your touch going right through him as you witness him relax, take a big deep breath and collect himself for your sake.

he’s sending a nervous brody one last death glare, before spinning around and lifting you over his shoulder in a fireman carry. relishing in the way he has you giggling, screaming for him to put you down but contradictory holding onto him tighter as you loved being in his arms. he had you, always, never wanting to let you go.

running back into the house with you in his arms where you belonged, grayson stops short before entering and whisking you away to your shared bedroom to show you he wasn’t one to mess with. turning back to face brody as he attempted to forget the awkward encounter and near death experience, whilst getting back to his paid work, grayson’s booming voice cuts him off abruptly.

- You had been running late for the stream you and the crew had arranged a few days prior - Because of certain problems with the system at you hospital, you had to attend your appointment that day instead of the day before, the timing clashing a bit with the timing of the stream - You sent Rae a quick text that you'd be late for the event, hoping she wouldn't ask why - And luckily she didn't - Truth be told, it's not like you were going to extreme lengths to hide your illness, you just didn't want you friends seeing you differently - Still, however, you were planning to tell them sooner or later - You always made up scenarios in your head of how it would go and only in a few were your news accepted lightly - You hated that you had to risk all those other, far less fortunate alternatives, but it was what it was and you had zero control of how they’d react so you were practically helpless in that field - That being said, you just let out a sigh every time your mind started going down that route - “Hey guys, sorry I’m late. The hospital messed up my appointment which was supposed to be YESTERDAY. So shout out to them, you guys suck. Just kidding, y’all keep me alive.” - Your friends chuckled at your comment, paying no mind to it as anything but a joke - “Time you switch hospitals then.” Toast nudges you jokingly - “Oh trust me, bro, that would be hella more complicated than just making appointments in my local one. I-..I wouldn’t be able to stand even you treating me like I’m fragile and overthinking everything you say in my presence.” - Your response is answered by another moment of silence before your racing mind is put to a slight ease by Corpse’s voice travelling through your headset - “Nothing will change, Y/N.” He says, tone still shaky but at least steadier than before, “You’re still the most badass impostor among us.” He pauses, “Pun was not intended, but I truly mean it.” - “Yeah, you’re still the same and so are we, this changes nothing.” Toast says reassuringly. - “However!” Rae interrupts, causing your heart to drop, “Do you promise to never again keep us in the dark about things going on in your life? We’re your friends and we wanna be there for you, don’t keep our hands tied.” - Your heart rose and dropped yet again but did so under the effect of a completely different emotion than before - joy - The tears prickling your eyes are now happy tears, ones you hadn’t let out in years - “I promise.” You say with a sniffle, “And one more thing...” - “Yeah?” Corpse says - “Thank you.”

hey! im quite new here and i have seen a lot of talk about readers interactions and i was wondering what is the best way to support my favorite writers (like you) because i think i have been doing this wrong and i really want to support writers who do this<3 ps. sorry if that was confusing, english isnt my first language

also can i just say, i very much appreciate you asking this. i would much rather more people speak up and be like "hey, we dont know the best way to support our favorite writers so how can we?" other than just. Not Knowing and Not Doing Anything.

so, im going to speak from my own personal experience but also what ive seen many of my mutuals/writers i follow talk about. this might get a little long but i wanna answer as thoroughly as i can because people should know!

im putting it under a read more because it got hella long, but please i encourage everyone who reads fics but don't interact to read and consider these things.

fellow writers i encourage you to reblog and add any other commentary you think is helpful!

before anything else (this is absolutely not directed at you, anon, you're perfect), i just want to get this out of the way. never come to a writer's blog and get angry with them for complaining about lack of engagement. like jesus christ. writers are putting hours of work on tumblr for you for free. the least we ask is for comments and reblogs. that's it. if you go and act shitty towards writers who ask for more engagement, yet still follow and wait for the next fic, like what are you even doing bro. just stop.

anyway. now let's get to the actual question!

basically all writers on tumblr will agree, reblogs are vital. and i feel like that gets said a lot but maybe people dont actually understand how impactful it is so lemme give an example.

so let's say hypothetically i have 100 followers. that is 100 potential people who see a fic that i post (i say potential because timezones exist so you might not see it as it's posted)

and let's say one of my followers (Person A) reblogs it, and they have 50 followers. that's 50 more people that can read the fic.

and let's say Person B followers Person A and they also reblog it to their 50 followers.

with only two people reblogging a fic, that's already doubling the number of people who have read the fic.

now imagine Person C followers Person A and reblogs the fic, and Person C has like, 1,000 followers. that's so much more exposure for the writer.

and that's only from two followers of the writer. so imagine if all 100 that read the fic reblogged it? the numbers skyrocket at an exponential rate.

plus, more people reading means that the writer could get more people follow them. so they get a more consistent audience.

likes, on the other hand, do not guarantee this exposure. i would say that most people don't have their likes public on tumblr. and also, even if they do, i know that I'm not about to scroll through people's likes rather than scrolling thru their blogs. likes up the notes, and that's about it. of course i understand liking a fic so you can come back to it later, i do that all the time. but if I've liked a fic, i always reblog it once I've read it.

now, say you're reading hardcore smut that you might not want on your main blog for whatever reason, so that's why you don't reblog a fic. look, i get it. sometimes irl people follow your blog, or sometimes you just don't want people to know what you're getting up to. but that's why i made a sideblog specifically for fics.

this entire blog BEGAN as a way for me to reblog fics i liked. and then it grew and grew and grew into all this. not saying that you have to start writing if you do that of course, but i guarantee, i'd rather see a small sideblog blog with like 3 followers reblog my fic than a blog just like the fic and leave. because that's still 3 more people who will see my fic and possibly read it and reblog it. 3 is better than none.

comments. reblogs are important, but comments are really what keep writers writing. they inspire us with new ideas, help figure out what it is that people enjoy from us, help us improve our writing, and most importantly, they make us feel good. and like writing and posting is worth it.

now, i know that sometimes it can feel awkward reblogging with a comment directly on the post. i even usually don't do that unless it's with a friend. but here are some alternatives/tips!

send an ask or DM! if you're really intimidated, sending an anonymous message is by far the easiest way to bypass that awkwardness.

write in the tags!! i cannot express this enough. comment in the tags. ramble about the fic. just put three tags worth of screaming. literally ANY comments in the tags are my favorite thing. i promise you that writers will scroll thru like basically every tag.

also, if they post it on both tumblr and ao3, don't feel weird about giving a little comment on both! i do that all the time. you can even be like 'hey i read this on tumblr first but wanted to say again how much i enjoyed it' and that is like, heart burstingly nice to hear.

also, if you're having trouble coming up with something to say, my like top commenting tip as both a writer and a reader is point out something specific that you like about the fic. when i comment on a fic (this is moreso when i comment on ao3 bc my comments are always longer there) i try to point out a particular line i like. literally if you just copy and paste it and go 'wow i really really like this line especially' that is the number one way to a writer's heart. seriously. it's the simplest thing, but it makes SUCH an impact.

however, if your comments are only asking for more fics, then that's not a comment, that's a request (which not all writers take).

saying something like 'hey i loved this fic a lot! if you have more in store for this in the future, i'd be really excited to read it!' is a million times better than 'will you do a part 2'. i know they don't sound that different, but i promise you that the tone makes a big difference.

(i honestly have more thoughts about good ways to get over commenting fear/know what exactly to comment that doesn't feel generic, so if people would like me to make another post about it i'd do it.)

and last but not least, if the writer has a way to donate, like a ko-fi, that always is so appreciated. of course, take care of yourself first, but if you have a few bucks and wanna show some support to your faves, that's a great way to help :)

oh! also, if the writer ever reblogs those little ask game things, just send them something! engagement outside of writing is also so much appreciated.

1.) mercilessly targeting other snot-nosed children. pls bc one kid in ur class could throw a miLD insult at u, like “you’re a butthead” or something equally dumb and katsuki will turn around, slow and terrfying like he’s possessed and just ~explode~. lil mans beats the kid into the ground, even before his quirk develops, and then tops it off with a comment like “i bet your mommy doesn’t love you” while the other kid lies bruised and writhing.
