see this is a complicated quastion that the answer to depends on what point in worm we're talking about but for the point i'm currently at/around in worm reread it's Agonizing to witness how brian is genuinely the team's leader, lisa literally imagines him telling her 2 Focus On The Important Parts in her head during the leviathan fight to steady herself--but also she has a gun to her head, and she can't tell any of them about it, and she is constantly having to manipulate brian into making certain decisions (lest all of them but especially her be fucked) while appearing like she's Not doing that. little details like her asking brian what they should do next, brian going "uhh idk," and then lisa Immediately going "ok well i think we should take taylor back to the loft :)" (<- thing she clearly already had in mind but didn't suggest without cursorily asking brian first) are soo. augh. her automatically smiling (<- girl who is sof ucked reflex) when brian starts listing really rational reasons not to go to the bank robbery that she Has to convince them to go along w/ 2 keep coil happy. etc. and he Doesn't Know....he Doesn't Know that she is a girl who is so fucked. coworkers/work friends wherein the dynamic of "uugh and some people (lisa) think they know everything" "i Do know everything :^)" are Agonizing (good) to witness. as for rachel and alec i think they have a nice arrangement going where he doesnt fuck with her and she doesnt rip his spleen out and use it to play fetch with her dogs 👍he understands that she is also a reject and this is why he includes her alongside him + aisha on his list of ppl who should turn traitor and form the othersiders when he's making that joke, but he also understands that they are different types of rejects and would not get along so hot as friends. and then she ends up becoming close to taylor and leaving the reject club a party of two (him + aishie)

also my favorite little rare undersider dynamic is lisa/aisha where lisa is so so good and regular at literally just. identifying the simple things she wants and pointing her towards them (e.g. when shes bored during arc 10 instead of trying to control/scold her like brian does lisa just points her to an Activity and then shes chill). whereas brian is control freaking it up and possibly in his head grumbling about lisa having an easier time of managing aisha than he does

Ginny was already there when Hermione, you, and your unvoluntary bellhops. Before Fred left he pulled you into the hallway," Hello y/n," he said with that classic grin of his.

After unpacking, nearly right on time Molly called everyone down for dinner. Following behind Hermione you shut the door to save some heat from escaping. You didn't know how Ron could do it with the draft.

The table had to be outside since the many guests couldn't possibly make it inside. But being the last one there meant little to know seating. Well there was seating actually, just not where you wanted to sit. That of course HAD to be right next Fred of all people.

Sitting down hie flirting never relented. "Just couldn't stay away for to long could you?"

"Well when you save a seat for me, is this not what you wanted?" You saw George put a hand to his mouth to stufle his laughter. Fred mutted a quiet, "Traitor," to his twin. And the food was passed around.

After dinner you all returned to your rooms and thr draft from the window had really done se damage. You shiverd, luckily Ginny noticed.

"Did you not bring a thick enough blanket?" Conern in her voice.

"No, but it's fine-"

"No it isn't. Hold on a second," Ginny left to who knows where.

When she returned she had a sweater in her hands. "Here," she said fights back a smile," it's all I could find."

Putting it on it was a rather large sweater, but very soft. It was deep green and had an 'f' on the front. Wait, it had an 'f' on the front...

"Ginny really! I mean im grateful but, you planned this." Of anything in their house, Ginny could only find Fred's sweater.

"What a coincidence," she said fighting back a laugh. Hermione however let something small slip, but quickly held it back again.

Not long later you all had layed down to sleep, full to the brim with Molly's dinner. Still you woke, the chill of room waking you yet again for its torment.

You got up and decided a warm drink was what you needed. The stairs only cricked a little at the bottom and you walked into the kitchen. It was dark but there was just enough moonlight to see what you were doing.

You put the kettle on and heated the water within, and grabbed a mug and a tea bag. You thought were being rather quiet and that everyone was still asleep. Unfortunately you were wrong.

When the kettle began to whistle, you swiftly pulled it off the stove. While pouring your cup though you heard a muttered," Lumos."

"Sorry it's ju-," you cut yourself off," Oh it's you." You were met with that one ginger you really wish you could avoid. Fred.

"Like you don't enjoy my company."

"You and your delusions."

"You wake me up and then call me delusional," he tsked. "You must be mistaken my room is 1 above the kitchen Y/n. You'll remember soon enough."

"Trust me Weasley, I'm not in need of anything from you."

His wand still lit, pointed down at his your sweater. "Then what's this? Hm?" He tone was condescending and you hated the effect it had on you. "Cute but don't be speechless now Y/L/N."

"Nonononono Ginny got me this."

The smirk on his face prominent when he said," Sending out my little sister for your dirty work I see." He tsked again.

"You just can't go on without thinking I'm into you, can you?" He walked closer to you and you were pressed to the kitchen table.

"Am I wrong?" His voice was low.

You took in a sharp breath and said," No," you mumbled.

"What was that?" He just HAD to be cocky.

"No." You didn't look at him. You didn't need to see his expression to know his arrogance was shining through.

"Had a feeling."

"What are you doing down here Fred?"

"I'm freezing so I made some tea, now answer my question."

"I wanted to see what was going on down here. The floor boards gave you away, love."

You scoffed," Well now you know, can I enjoy my tea please?"

"Yes ma'am." You took a some long swings of your tea so if wasn't a complete waste.

After a long sigh you said," fine. One night though!"

"Of course! This is a one time deal Y/n." His tone humorous as always.

You walked up the stairs and he joined you, opening the door. Good thing George slept like he's dead or he would have heard the door open. You didn't mean to launch yourself on the bed, but you just knew it was warm.

"Well make yourself at home I guess," he said with a small chuckle. And you did didn't you.

You felt a dip in the bed, and an arm wrap around your waist, lazily though. You pulled out of his grasp.

"Suit yourself, g'night love," he whispered.

"Night, Fred."

Of course the cold got you once more. You didn't know what to do, Fred was out cold beside you and you hated fo disturb him. 'Well he is out cold', you thought. You gently grasped his arm and allowed yourself to give into his warmth. You dropped his arm around you, and you started to feel the warmth envolp you.

You felt his arms pull you close and press you to his chest. "Knew you'd give in eventually," he lazily murmured.

"Shut up," you murmured back.

You felt his chest rumble a bit as he laughed and you let out a small giggle. Deep sleep finally met you and you slept fully.

'One time' how funny the words were. Long story short, you both broke that vow.

Everything that... not exactly right with Uraraka Ochako.

This is my first really long post about bnha. I felt out of fandom somewhere during Ovarhaul arc and return around year ago. Upon returning some things about Ochako really stroke me and not really in good way. So heres my rambling about... what I think is strange about her. And yeah this also going to be why I feel like she is despite everything solid candidate for traitor role. I am not insist on it in any way though. Just want to pour some thoughts. 

Lets start with a look at general development of this character. 

Uraraka started as a bit over cheerful pretty girl with good heart. With great design and really unique quirk. And also a twist - wanting to be a hero for money. What I am trying to say here is that this all is already enough for write really good character. What buffles me is that despite all this somehow her character development becomes...  surprising. And I dont mean in a good way,

Lets start with original setup - lovely girl with not so noble motive for  being hero. But wait a sec... isnt it still noble? That probably was my first small burn with Ochako character. Giving her that motive was great way to deepen her character, giving her more backbone if you ask me. But maybe out of fear of making readers dislike her or because of other reasons its still came out... as something nice. Because Ochako says she is  doing it for someone else. Even Iida wasnt against the motive of wanting better life but it feels like she tries erase herself from that part. Why dont say “I want better life for our family”?

Yes, from Ochako flashback its sorta hinted that she wanted to be hero herself. But she also wanted to help her family so she decided to go with both. But the part about money is way more important to her than to others in class A I think. And while its not that prominent in the series, question how can heroes work for money does emerge from time to time. So it would be decent reason for giving her solid development. But guess what? After Sport festival this point was never mentioned again. Her motive about being hero for money has completely disappeared from the plot. 

After Sport Festival and until Overhaul arc we hit what I consider second stage of her character - young maiden in love.

Of course its not like it started there. Ochako started shown signs of this at very early phase of story. Too early if you ask me.

This is probably the earliest sign that Ochako think about Deku not only as about friend. And first it manifested in form of jealousy. Which is kinda unusual in... shonen manga I suppose? Love jealousy doesnt have that strong representation there. Though I might be wrong. 

Anyway her feeling to Deku is lowkey is the most consistent part about her character development. Consistent but not that understandable.

I know most people interpretate this as she didnt want her feeling get in the way of her becoming a hero but... it wasnt phased that way. But anyway this decision feels out of place for so many reasons. At least to me. 

For once its normal for person of her age to fall in love. Its part of youth. But those feelings never made her even a bit happy. She is happy hanging out with Deku (and Iida) as a friend but whent it starts go romantique road she practically always nervous and... sad I suppose? And that while being jealous. She doesnt like someone other take Deku but also doesnt will to try to do it herself. Even though she has good chances of being successful. What is this attitude? 

So for whatever reason she considers those feelings nuisance. Her decision when she couldn lie to herself anymore? Shut them down, hide them. She didnt think twice about this. Is she used to deal this way with emotions she finds unsavory? 

Right after Overhaul arc we were given third (and final for now) version of her character. Brave hero who wants save people.

The only reaction I had upon reading this was “What?!” Where is this coming from? Yes, Ochako is a kind girl and yes she was hurt by Sirs death but really? What happened to motive about money? Or more precisely - wheres transition from one to another? Its not character development if you just answer something with A and some time later says B. You have to show why A become B. 

 I know people in fandom often complain about lack for spotlight for secondary characters. I get that. Personally I think Kohei did decent job in fleshing class A though it could be better.But then again it could be way worse. But the thing is that lack of development doesnt equal inconsistent development. And I think Bnha is good in that aspect. I cant think about single character with inconsistent character development. Except one. And thats Ochako. But since she is surrounded by characters whose writing is stable its not that noticeable. But if you single out her character - the problem is here...

However after Overhaul arc we didnt have any radical changes in her. She remains someone trying hard at becoming hero who saves people while hiding ( suffocating?) her feelings for Deku. And indeed she tries her hardest. It clearly seen in 296. This proves its her own genuine feelings... though wait..

Could it be that her quite sudden drive to save people is actually her trying to be even more like Deku? Maybe being inspired by him to try hardest for her parents wasnt enough and she ended up taking his reason as well?

But this is more or less just speculation. And besides messy writing by itself isnt enough to prove her being traitor makes sense. So in next post I am going to write about what I think hints it might be Ochako after all. And yeah its gonna be long too.

do you have any ideas on how ratld would have worked if Raya and Namaari had become friends for a few years and then Namaari had to go with the plan of stealing the gem?

I think the scar wouldve run deeper then. Because having an established friendship beforehand means that you have built this foundation of complete trust and companionship that you believe can't be swayed.

So, in terms of forgiveness, I think for Raya its gonna be even harder for her to trust Namaari at all. Because she thought they had an understanding that runs deep, and for Namaari to betray her like that would definitely hurt her more than if they had just met, like the movie.

So I think maybe ratld would have went through a deeper track (if it werent disney) but Raya wouldnt have trusted Boun or asked for Tong's help so easily. Coz it wont even just be about trust, its gonna be her completely afraid of even starting any type of friendship knowing it may lead to a cold brutal betrayal.

She wouldnt want the friendships to get deeper so her character could be a lil bit more colder and rude, perhaps. The movie would be her trying to figure out how to gain their trust just enough for her not to get attached. Sisu is an exception coz she is an actual god/dragon.

But in the end, she does get attached because she is merely human who craves for affection and friendship which she hadn't experienced in 6 years.

Maybe one day Boun asks her why shes so cold and mean all the time and she blurts out that one day everyone's just going to turn on her. Boun would ask a very innocent "But why would be turn on you? We dont have any reason to"

She'll learn that choices are never gonna be easy. There are things out of her control and that she will be put in a spot where there is going to be no other way but the worse possible option in front of her.

Then she'll kinda understand where Namaari came from. Kinda. It wont erase the rage but when she's put into a position where there are no other reasonable options at the moment, it'll struck her.

Like the last scene of ratld, she has no choice but to leave it in the hands of the traitor she cared so much for. She didnt have to but she understood why she should.

She would understand more later on that Namaari was doing what she needed to for her land. Maybe Fang was in the worse possible state with their lack of food sources their people were dying of starvation and Namaari probably witnessed it first hand. Then she goes to Heart and sees Raya's luscious land without struggle and gets attacked by this deep rage inside her.

They were young so it would makes sense if they had no control of their emotions back then.

Soooooo yeap. I think overall the movie wouldve turned a bit darker. Raya's character wouldve been someone we won't full like or dislike either. Her character wouldve been more in depth (more than it already kinda is if it werent a disney movie) and we wouldve seen darker aspects of her character.

This is my observation tho, I'm not sure how other people would imagine it. 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️ I'd like to know if yall have different interpretations tho!

my summary of ranboo’s story of his character from his stream

copied from my 5 page google doc i wrote instead of doing homework

this starts at the beginning and goes until 1hr 28 minutes into the stream

(i think i got basically everything he said)

joined the server, killed by dream, received a small tour from niki

the next day, he got a tour from tubbo, president of lmanburg. they talked about how ranboo was also running for president

shaped his first thoughts on lmanburg. that it was a good place.

finding michael with tubbo!

meets tommy! tommy tells him about george and ranboo agrees to burn down georges house (in order to not make enemies since he thought they had more than him)

niki and puffy were on a date and they tried to sneakily get past (asking niki for her armor, not suspicious at all)

tommy and ranboo grief georges house, accidentally burning it down. they ran from it, thinking they got away.

puffy asks if ranboo did it. ranboo couldn’t remember and doesn’t know why.

dream started building the walls on lmanburg

dream shows them georges house, destroyed. tommy gets blamed, ranboo is questioned bc puffy says she saw him. tubbo kills ranboo with the spoon (not canon)

the meeting hall to meet with dream. 

THE MINUTES MAN OF LMANBURG - tasked with taking the notes for the meeting

there was a pig man watching the meeting

the meeting did not go well. tommy brings out spirit against dream. dream played along but didn’t truly care, only caring for the disks.

tommy stood up for ranboo at the trial. they asked ranboo about it and he said his memory was bad but they cut him off. he never said he didnt remember the burning, only that his memory was bad.

being the minutes man gave him the idea to make the first Do Not Read book, writing who to trust and not trust

dream tubbo tommy quackity and fundy on the wall. tommy being taken away for some reason. the exile.

ranboo felt guilty because tommy wasn’t the only one who destroyed george’s house.

things in lmanburg were going great, he had a house and pets and was the minutes man and technically part of the cabinet

feeling guilty, he visits tommy in exile a few times. ranboo could tell something was off with him, with dream. so he wrote letters to tommy, trying to understand what he was going through in exile.

things were good, he built the ice cream shop with fundy

one day ranboo was approached whilst writing in his memory book. quackity tells him that techno is a traitor, the reason things are bad. and that they were gonna go get him and bring him to justice. which ranboo thought meant a trial and such.

the first butcher army meeting. ranboo is confused by it, the bloody butcher outfits. 

traitors are bad right? can’t have traitors

the butcher army went to technos place. ranboo shot a few arrows, maybe intentionally missing “he is a person still”

q gets carl and so techno agrees to go with the army

the execution. no trial. techno gets executed but survived.

phil, who saved ranboo from lava, who ranboo liked, gets put on house arrest. phil is mad at the army but ranboo was saying how he didnt think itd just be an execution. so the two are on even/neutral grounds.

ranboo talks to ghostbur, who calls him an aaron burr. they go to the snow, to technos. techno immediately tries to kill ranboo, who was just part of the butcher army. threatens him until he gives back all his armor.

tommy was at technos too. with techno. ranboo is surprised and writes it in his memory book.

ranboo goes back to lmanburg. realizes he just betrayed the entire butcher army by giving the armor back and saying he doesnt know where tommy is.

he kept seeing techno and tommy around lmanburg with dogs for some reason

he was kind of on both sides, techno/tommys and lmanburgs. he doesnt want to choose so he decides to help everyone

the festival plan to try to kill dream. ranboo spent time making festival games (the trident game!)

dream arrives and starts building the wall again

before the festival ranboo met with techno and tommy.

the community house was blown up. gone. 

according to dream it was techno and tommy.

dream says hes gonna blow up lmanburg again. techno joins him. blow it all the way to bedrock.

dream calls ranboo out as a traitor in front of everyone. dream has ranboos book. the first memory book. which ranboo had lost a few days prior, and found somewhere he didn’t put it. it had been moved. dream gives it to tubbo

THE PANIC ROOM. a place for him to think. the water outside providing a white noise. 

ranboo realizes that he kept choosing sides. he decides to choose people.

ranboo wonders how dream had his memory book

he checks the memory book and just finds the smile. the first smile. “all that was left is a smile”

that book becomes the second memory book.

the destruction of lmanburg on the horizon, they band together to attempt to stop it.

he speaks out. there are lots of people watching him

eye contact. he lashes out at people, as his judgement is impaired

he goes back to the panic room

the dream voice. a voice that is him but sounds like dream. it tells him that by trying to help everyone he has just betrayed everyone. ranboo doesn’t believe the voice because all he did was give techno his armor under pressure, right?

he decides the best thing to do is help the people who have helped him. lmanburg. 

but the first memory book is still missing

“it was time for doomsday”

they thought they still had time to save lmanburg. but then they heard explosions and withers.

lmanburg. “it was falling. it was gone”

people were suddenly switching sides and in the chaos of the destruction ranboo hears techno ask “what’s this do not read book”

ranboo runs to techno to get the book, techno has it. techno gave him the book and told him to get out of there, that he has no issue with him. techno showed ranboo mercy when he could have killed him

ranboo doesnt know where he stands with the destruction of lmanburg. so he watched. “watched as lmanburg fell”

he talks with fundy, with quackity, after the fall. fundy seemed off. quackity seemed to forgive ranboo, having read the book and changed his mind.

ranboo didn’t know what to do

“someone came in and asked me if i was okay. phil. phil realized that when he blew up everything” that ranboo was one of the few who lived in lmanburg and had no more home. phil offers him a place to stay, with him and techno

the situation is awkward at first but they get through it

MELLOHI

ranboo hears mellohi. “a disk from somewhere far away” “it was from the panic room”

he goes back to the panic room. “why was i hearing this from all the way over there” and takes out the disk. but then “an old friend came back. the voice.” 

but this time with more to say. that he was more of a traitor than he thought. the voice tells him that he has been helping dream the entire time. but that he just didn’t remember that. that he had something to do with the community house and other things on the server.

the voice wasnt dream. it was what he thought was himself trying to fill the gaps with memories.

he denies the voices claims. “you have no proof”

the voice says to mine an obsidian block. behind it are two pieces of tnt. 

he still doesnt believe the voice

ranboo is very confused. did he do it? did he not?

the disk war. tommy and tubbo had begun to prepare.

“the disks were very important right?”

“and then i just… lived. for a while.”

“for the first time in a while, happy. and that was good”

and so he decides that he is done. “done with living in fear of the dream voice”

and so he goes to the dream voice

“the dream voice said, hey? you literally have a disk”

“there’s no way i could have a disk right?”

but the voice says that he hid it. he met with dream. so he searched. and he found a disk. the disk. in a chest under his house. 

“so then i realized. something’s going on. there must be a reason why i cant remember these visits with dream, right?”

he “had been sleepwalking of sorts but that was a problem for another day”

time for the disk war. everyone thought that both tommy and tubbo would die

(he forgets what happens next? canon? idk)

dream was now in prison.

he decides to call the sleepwalking state enderwalking

everything was good. except the egg, but “we don’t gotta care about that”

ranboo has the “good idea” to visit dream

so he visits the prison. everything went normally. except “dream told me exactly what i didnt want to hear. apparently i had been visiting dream. i had been talking to dream.”

“and apparently i was one of his best friends”

and dream hands him his own memory book. the entire chest was filled with memory books.

“dream disappeared. and the prison started to crumble. and i guess the entire prison visit was just the dream voice but even worse”

so he didnt know what to do “i guess i’ll keep my head down. i didn’t really do much during that time”

but he needed to visit the prison again. “for real. to actually get closure”

he gets in to the lobby. sam asks his questions. and asks when the last time he visited. “and of course i havent visited before. so i said this is my first time.” and sam said “very funny” and tells him he has visited before. 

“i had technically visited the prison in the enderwalk. i asked sam to show me the books and they were written in ender”

and then something happened. ranboo gets brought to a room. with two shrines and a hallway. with everything people value.

he started to remember. to hear things. 

“so dream had a revive book. he was trying to control the server by using everyones loved things against them”

he doesnt remember when punz and everyone came and saved tommy and tubbo from being killed by dream

dream had to be stopped “before he could bring back the villains”

he has michael to protect now

tommy approaches while he is with tubbo. and ranboo agrees with tommy. they build that tower

talks with ghostbur “and he seemed like he didnt want to go, which was interesting”

“so right now im trying to kill dream”

but the enderwalk is still an issue. he needs to figure out how to stop the enderwalk. “it hasnt happened in a while, right?”

the reason he is doing everything is to make sure his adopted son, michael, is safe.

and that is the story so far.

james thinks hes the most oppressed person in the universe. he doesnt think hes privileged at all and he often talks about how easy it is to be a woman and how feminism is stupid bc women r privileged. he thinks hes allowed to say mudblood bc hes a "blood traitor" etc . every once in a while remus will talk about how it is to be a werewolf and James will interrupt and be like "but do you understand how hard it is for ME? he and lily get married (she proposes so suddenly because the night before she'd kissed mary macdonald and being a lesbian is scary for her) and one night she tells him "I think im a lesbian" and hes like "why would anyone love women? isn't it bad enough to be one? sometimes I wish I was a woman so I could love men." and then he goes on a long rant about sirius etc etc.

when harry is born he immediately leaves. he goes straight to sirius and remus' and james and sirius kiss as soon as he opens the door. sirius is like you should stay in my room remus can take the guest room. remus hates james for it and he hates sirius too because now they only care about each other and after a bit remus is like "I think im going to live peter" and james is like "no obviously you're staying here why would you leave." then goes back to talking to sirius

he doesnt actually care particularly about the war other than to be seen as a hero. mostly he just wants his friends to be safe BUT he has so much of a savior complex he often puts them and others in dangerous situations just to save them. that was another reason he sided with sirius he loved being noble and a hero saving snape while also getting to put him in a horrible situation <3 anyway thats all I got for now

was gonna try and do multiple characters in one post but nope! i have too much to say. also the pictures are all different sizes so its rly hard to get the photoset to look appealing, so we’re starting w/ blue. and also a colored pic of what adam looks like when he’s not a deer. boy’s tryin not to stand out. which goes great up for him right up until it doesn’t. lmao. i’ll talk a bit about him too w/ stuff that didnt get mentioned in the starter post about him and gansey, but this is mostly gonna be about blue. 

SO. 

there’s this fey entity, right? i don’t have a name for them, but they’re not...they didnt START the fey/human conflict, but they are benefiting from it, politically speaking? and when maura was younger, despite other witches being like “girl dont choose sides, we’re witches, we guard boundaries but we don’t choose sides,” was hotheaded and brash and went “ok but fuck that though” and one thing led to another and she ended up getting a curse on her firstborn. Oops. that’s where the kissing curse comes from, here; i’ll get into that much later in a text post probably but gansey’s survivor’s guilt thing doesnt come from him actually dying in this au it’s from something Else, but blue will still kill him if she kisses him, just, for different reasons, it’s an actual curse this time and not something to do with the nature of who they both are. 

her father’s still a tree light, but like, she actually knows that from the outset? because. they live in cabeswater. the tree lights are all around and accept her as one of their own even if she can’t turn into a tree, and as a result of that, she’s got some cool perks. 

a) extremely resistant and/or outright immune to a Lot of fey bullshit 

b) still boosts psychic energies and magical powers like in canon

c) the absolute safest person to be traveling in cabeswater ever, because the forest itself loves her, and also if you mess with her within the borders of cabeswater a bunch of tree lights will physically manifest and be like “hey buddy wanna think twice about that”

but she can’t use magic herself, still, which actually works in the favor of herself and the coven--witchcraft is in a sort of weird spot, culturally, where it’s both feared and often hated, but also understood to at times be necessary, especially by rural peoples like those of the village. im taking a very discworld spin on the witchcraft, because i love discworld and you can’t stop me, and so the attitude is, like. its frightening ancient magic and the church hates it but when there’s an emergency and someone’s on the border between life and death, or something is trying to pass into this world from another, etc etc etc, then you gotta suck it up and call on a witch because they’re the only ones who can deal with those things. so. the coven is tolerated, both because it’s too big and powerful to actually fight but also because it’s extremely needed when you live in a village right next door to fey lands. you NEED someone watching the border. however that doesn’t mean anyone wants to be seen publicly talking to a witch--but blue’s not a witch. she’s a witch’s daughter, but she’s not a witch herself, which is a step removed enough that she can go into town and run errands and also people will maybe pull her discretely aside and tell her if something’s coming up that the coven should know about, and it all works very neatly with her acting as a sort of liaison. very important role she plays, which is why gansey tries talking to her after his initial attempt to speak with the coven directly fails. 

speaking of the coven itself: i’ve been calling it the fox way coven, even tho it probably wouldn’t be called that because there’s no road called fox way that the coven is built on, it’s a big magic house out in the fairy forest, BUT they do have a fox theme because i love foxes and this is a gift i have been given. if people have familiars in this coven, they’re foxes rather than cats, because as wonderful as cats are u cant have them and foxes in the same house that will go bad. but also there’s a v small number of them, like maybe three or four total out of the much higher number of women living there, who are fey blooded like adam, but who become foxes rather than adam’s deer. persephone is one of these! (it’s worth noting the reason why they become the same animal is because of a combination of coincidence, intentional theming, and mostly just because like, virtually all of the residents there aside from persephone are related to either maura or calla) 

anyway the point is, because of this, blue’d seen enough feyblood transformations that when, one day when she was 9 or 10, on a visit to town, she saw the most distressed, disoriented fawn wobbling around frantically and was able to very quickly recognize that that was, in fact, a person who had probably turned into a deer for the first time, and responded by very calmly informing him that she knew who could help and leading him home. this is where those last two pictures come from, and how adam’s apprenticeship started. 

like, there was a lot of arguing from the witches immediately--of course we’re going to teach him how to become human again but we aren’t really going to take him on in the coven are we? he’s a boy, he’s some local kid we know nothing about, what happened to keeping it in the family, he’s the wrong animal and we’ve got a whole thing going on--at which point persephone parted everyone like the red sea, took one look at adam, went “mine now” and despite a lot of grumbling that was the end of it. she took him on a bit of a tour of cabeswater a few days later, after he’d had time to think it over, and he felt so drawn to the forest that he agreed to the apprenticeship.

so he’s technically persephone’s apprentice but like in actual practice he’s being taught by the entire coven lmao, ANYWAY

adam being adam also had a backup plan for trying to get out of the village--even at ten he figured witchcraft might be a first way out of there, he was already thinking about it, but by thirteen when the good ole abuse started (and at which point the last whispers of dissent died out very quickly amongst the coven, nope, adam is one of us now, do you want us to very threateningly hang out in your front yard sometime because we can do that--what do you mean no, let us do this,) he was also like. i dont think this is a guarantee of getting out of here i need a second job. and the thing is, as was mentioned in the original post, the fey blood also means adam’s got issues with iron; it’ll poison him if he’s stabbed with it but it also reacts to his skin touching it like a hot stove. he’s fine if there’s a layer between his skin and the iron, but if he touches it directly, it’s Bad. so ofc this headstrong idiot takes an open spot a t a metalworker’s in the village because adam is the king of making bad decisions. the witches have a betting pool on how long it’ll take him to out himself. “its fine i’ll wear gloves,” he says. “it’s the perfect disguise no one will expect someone with fey connections to work near so much iron,” he says. “i have everything perfectly under control,” he says.

anyway he totally forgets to wear gloves before grabbing an iron tool while his dad and his boss are both in the store and in clear view of him and that’s why he was getting chased by hunters when gansey rescued him 

also he and blue tried dating when they were like 13-14 and it ended about as badly as in canon and they made up later and by the time the story starts they’ve settled into very much being weird siblings. adam starts hanging out with gansey initially to try and basically spy on him, figure out why he’s here, but ends up rly liking the guy and deciding his reasons are sincerely to try and help people, and he tells this to blue who starts immediately accusing him of having a crush on the lordling and being a class traitor, because she does NOT like gansey at this point and really the nobility all prefer wizards to witches which is a stupid idiot decision and frankly the fact that this lordling is apparently enamored by some random deer is hilarious to her, but even moreso is the fact that adam actually defends the lordling to her, like, “wow adam its hilarious that the lordling’s friend thinks that you have charmed the lordling because from my perspective it looks the other way around” “shut uuuup you’re not listening im serious, like, yeah ok he put his foot in his mouth really hard when he talked to you but im telling you i dont think the whole i-wanna-understand thing is an act” “idk if i can trust you through those rose tinted glasses buddy. tell me again about that time he called you princely?” “oh my god”

JK Rowling, transphobia and a hopefully helpful post.

A few days ago I posted on my Facebook (yes I have one sue me) debunking some of the things Rowling has been saying on twitter. Since she made a statement I felt the need to make another one... but this time Im sharing it here. Please note this is long, it is fairly opinionated in places but her statements have felt so insidious I want to share something in depth. If you are cis I implore you to read, but I understand this is long and a lot of people wont want to. No judgement. 

Jk Rowling’s latest statement is a mess of valid concerns and fear mongering. At this point there can be no claim she doesn’t know what shes talking about - she herself has said shes been researching this for years. She throws in token acknowledgements to “real” trans people while framing the rest of her statements as concern for confused teens.So first things first - and something that might not be popular with some of my trans friends. I agree that teenagers should not be able to medically transition. It is a choice that should be made when the brain is fully mature. Hormone blockers are something I trust - and that are reversible. I have seen enough detransitioned people hurting to feel like we do need to be careful - especially with children who are trying to find themselves. I dont know about other people but during my teens I was coming to the crushing realisation that I wasn’t special. I was learning that no matter how well I painted someone else did it better, no matter how badly I hurt someone had it worse - I was learning about the wonderful mediocrity of life, and having anything that made me stand out gave a brief reprieve from learning to be okay with all these things. For me to be fair it was dying my hair outrageous colours and dressing in black leather during 30 degree summer heat - but its still something we cant forget. I KNOW a lot of kids claiming to be trans are - and I dont want to keep that from them, however I dont want to cause harm to the kids that are wrong. Continuing on, I’d like to address her comments about TERFS. Terfs are Self Described Trans-exclusionary-radical-feminists and the term does get thrown around a little too liberally at times. Terf is not and never will be a slur. No more than “White” is. It is about a group of people who have taken it open themselves to segregate another group - and calling that what it is, is not a crime. The reason Terf and transphobe have become synonomic is because the ‘radical feminists’ that subscribe to this have lost focus on nearly all other issues of feminism and sit squarely on “dropping the T” from the lgbt community and “keeping men out of womens bathrooms.” Terfs are overwhelmingly women - this is sadly simply a fact. Terfs are reviled because of how much it feels like a betrayal to the community. A group that fights for rights - except ours. A group that wants equality - except for us. Its different to the conservatives who hate us all equally - with Terfs we are singled out. Terfs are not, as Rowling claims, inclusionary to Trans-men. I’ve been met with a combination of pity, loathing, mockery and revulsion by people within this group. I’ve been told that I shouldn’t let homophobia push me into transitioning - only for all correspondence to abruptly drop when I mention Im marrying another man. I’ve been told my old body was beautiful - only for stunned silence when I agree. I was beautiful - I was curvy, I was a dancer and had a body to match - but I wasn’t Me. When their usual arguments against me fail - I’m met with hate. Im called anti-woman, traitor, homophobic. I even have some such comments saved on my blog. I have yet to meet a Terf who was pro-trans-man. Rowling claims that had she had the ability, as a confused teen, she may have sought to transition. I hate to tell her but she did have the ability and trans people didn’t pop into existence in the twenty-first century. I’m actually looking to do my dissertation topic in my final year on lgbt presentation throughout history - and in my overeager way I’ve already started researching. James Barry has been becoming a common name for years - a transgender surgeon who died in 1865. If Barry was able to at least socially transition from 1790 to 1860, I am fairly sure Rowling could have in 1980 - over a century later. Rowling also claims that groups of friends in schools all suddenly identify as trans at the same time. Speaking from my school experience - the queer kids group together. We seek out others like us, and we take strength from each others bravery to come out - often around the same time. We almost get a rush of resolve when one of our group musters the courage and strength, and some of us use that rush to bite the bullet ourselves. Its one of the beautiful ways the lgbt community is here for one another - and the influx of people identifying as trans is partially a factor of more people knowing the name of their feelings. Survivor bias will ignore the trans people through history without the knowledge or means to transition - and will claim they were never trans at all. Her initial statements about charities worry me in particular. As I said last time - we know sex is real, we just dont really like to be defined by it. She is worried that we’re going to “rebrand medicine” and ignores that medications for years have had warnings in their leaflets about “If you are or become pregnant” regardless of if the person receiving it has a dick or a vagina. We dont advocate for ignoring the differences in how people respond to heart attacks - and I for one would like research to be done on how hormones effect that. I dont actually know if I would respond more like a cis gender woman or a cis gender man if I were to have a heart attack or a stroke. But where possible we do want to change the language around some of these things. I have had a double mastectomy, but some Cis-men have these as well. This is not a gendered term. Why should a period be called anything else? Why call it a “womens problem.” I and Im sure many other trans people, support the research into how different medical and mental issues affect different sexes. I just think that should be extended further - and we know it should, as some medical issues affect people of different ethnicities in different ways and we don’t know how. I am truly sorry that Rowling has experienced abuse and assault of any nature. I am truly sorry that she has felt unsafe. But her feelings do not invalidate others experiences. Of the trans people I know, a saddening number have been assaulted, have been abused and in particular have experienced these things domestically. There is much work to be done on this in the UK. There are nearly no mens shelters for sufferers of violence to my knowledge. I, a trans man who have experienced some of these things in my teen years, would Not want to be around cisgender women even if I could be. A cis woman was responsible for much of the pain I personally suffered - and in fact one of the acts of violence she carried out against me was directly after I came out as trans to her. Trans women, even if they could go to male shelters, should not have to be surrounded by a group that put them in danger - in a place that is detrimental to them physically and mentally and is frankly degrading. The belief that allowing trans women into shelters for those escaping abuse is dangerous is sad. To be so afraid is deserving of pity. To let fear blind you to the suffering of others - to think its better that a trans woman face homelessness or a return to an abusive household because you personally would sleep better at night is the kind of passive evil we should be aware of in this day and age. It comes from choosing to see the word “trans” before “person.” Its from choosing to see a persons genitals before their humanity. Trans people are not dangerous - and cause no greater risk than any other demographic.  Her claims that she can empathise with this fear are empty. A gender recognition certificate is not a ticket into womens bathrooms. Funnily enough you dont actually require a piece of paper to go almost anywhere. I do not have a gender recognition certificate and use male bathrooms, can enter male spaces as I please. All a gender recognition certificate does is change the letter on your birth certificate. It doesn’t even affect other forms of identification - my passport, my student id, my drivers license all already say male. I am not sure why so many people have chosen this as their hill to die on because its the least relevant thing to them on the planet. How often have any of you seen another persons birth certificate? Rowling says she and other ‘gender critical’ (a terf dogwhistle) people are concerned for trans youth. Well… she can take her condescending concern and direct it to matters that are relevant to her. Trans people want to be left alone. Its a simple request, and yet people endlessly seem to trip over the dirt level bar.

Well... the question focuses on my opinion on which ship has more chances to become canon, right?

I’ve spent some time thinking about my answer to this question, how I could go direct to the point while giving enough arguments to defend my opinion. Prepare yourself because I couldn’t and this will be very long. Sorry...

1. Eren’s characterization + romance

First of all, there is a very important point about Eren that shipers (even me sometimes) forget. A friend that loves and understand Eren the most pointed this many times when I was starting to forget about it... I dare to say that nobody surpasses her understanding of his characterization.

Eren isn’t a romantic person. We all have to keep in mind that his priorities aren’t the priorities a normal person would have. He is like Rick from Casablanca. There’s the duty and then dreams and then, maybe, romantic love (If we take for granted that he knows what it is). Erwin loved Marie but he had a priority. (There’s me finding more similarities between Erwin and Eren). Eren’s current development is more about his mission than a romantic one. Although he plays with romance, he does it while being blatantly blind about it.

Eren got caught in the middle of his normal development from a child that gets annoyed by romance and has some kind of allergy against cheesy moments (for ex. in ch. 3 with Franz and Hannah) to a teenager that blooms to feel romantic love as something important and unavoidable. It’s normal for kids. But Eren hasn’t a normal life. There was always something more important than learning how to love, be loved and express it openly. It’s not that he isn’t able to love, more likely the opposite. He knows how to love and he has his own ways to do it... but the way the world is restricted his possibilities to live a different life. Even in the way EMA never got to communicate properly most of the times. Communication runs sometimes as a question, a statement and no back question (for ex. ch. 3). Eren asked about Mikasa’s reasons to follow him, about Armin’s reasons, where he threw that line about his death being meaningless. Nobody said anything, neither Mikasa nor Eren reacted stating the opposite. They usually don’t have the time nor oportunity to talk or even think about essential topics as feelings of love or labeling their feelings.

Given Eren’s lack of experience and maturity that we could see until Marley arc. Is it even possible that he developed a carnal relationship with Historia before going to Marley? No. No, because it would contradict somehow his characterization. Eren is depicted exactly as someone that took this decision because he lost every single deep bond that would have stopped him. This lack of understanding brought him to this point. The lack of value he places on life and a comfortable life with friends and family.

2. The baby

The whole baby plot point is from my perspective just about the curse and a new generation (maybe) free from being SoY but just normal human beings.

Historia choosing this way was also the safest way to oppose her destiny... strategically speaking. She could trick everyone without being called openly a traitor. So I’m agree with you. Her question wasn’t romantic.

3. The father and his meaning

The father is, as I pointed out once in my Twitter acc., the farmer. My reasons are that there is a meaning behind his existence. He was a boy that dared Historia to break the rules and stop being submissive. He is aligned with Historia’s current role as someone who stopped being the good girl that follows stupid and detrimental rules in disregard of her own life. He is also a man that decided to redeem himself by helping her with the orphanage without trying to get her attention at all. Being a normal person who enjoys a normal life and also redemption. I’m not saying necessarily that it’s about love, but he isn’t just a nobody. He holds a deep, positive meaning for the story. Isayama pairs usually a sinner and an “innocent”: Annie and Armin, Eren and Mikasa, Erwin and Levi, Ymir and Krista, Historia and the Farmer. Eren and Historia are the current sinners on the matter that both chose the rumbling... let’s say.

Why this kind of pairing? Because one has to contribute to the improvement of the other. Two sinners (with the same crime and perspective) can’t help each other. It’s opposition what will bring them to overcome their weaknesses.

4. Development of the couples

That being said, Eren and Mikasa as pair are in the focus. Isayama went through 10 years of development of most of the pairs to build up a support for EreMika. He build parallels with YumiHisu and Falbi and gave us hints to understand EM better. The vow he made to her was probably one of those moments when he started to be romantic without noticing.

5. Eren and Historia: their moments

EH interactions are, conversely, of other nature. Both feel related about the point of carrying a big burden. While Eren has to save humanity fighting, Historia has the role of a founder who has to assure humanity’s survival by having children and keeping the royal family alive. Both want to be free from that burden and end up being “partners in crime” by betraying everyone. I’m missing the romantic interactions to be very honest. It’s because Eren is so self-focused that he anchors here when someone who is alone and having the same problems and feelings appears. But... where did the fandom start to see something between them?

Two moments. The moment when he said “she is admirable” and the moment when he insisted to spare her life. That obsession that is so tricky to even be explained.

The first one made a difference between how Eren acknowledges Historia’s attributes and disregards Mikasa’s. The fandom uses this to point out that Eren likes Historia more. Well, no. His relationship towards Mikasa was characterized by jealousy. He won’t admit anything.

Regarding his “obsession” to save her... this started when he knew the existence of Eren Krüger, his thoughts and the whole story about Dina. It wasn’t before that. We must also admit that Historia’s safety was related to more characters than just Eren. Since the very beginning, her safety was conveniently displayed by Frieda, Ymir and Reiner, what makes me believe that her destiny was to give birth to this baby (aka. plot armor). Her role is to avoid becoming a titan by her own choice, that’s her arc. With Krüger we also knew the importance of a royal: they can give birth to more convenient instruments for war. Knowing that he was devoted to the mission, I believe that Eren is being influenced by him (I want to highlight the word “influenced” as something different to manipulated). So this is all related to the mission and the final outcome about Ymir, the curse, the power and the baby. Eren partly wants to grant her the chance to choose, but he also pushes her to do so based on part of her desires because of the mission as he did with Grisha.

Add here the fact that Historia was prepared to sacrifice his life at the cave if it was needed. That shows her priorities.

A lot of EH shippers claim that she saved him. Regarding her role as savior, I’m more objective and skeptical. She spared his life, but emotionally speaking, she didn’t really save him. The proof is that he was still low, thinking that he was a nobody. Carla’s words were the message with enough impact to relieve him and make him open himself to Armin and Mikasa and tell them about his sorrows. This shows the difference on the impact on him when it comes to Historia and when it comes to Carla... this happens again in ch. 131. He thinks about his mother instead of Historia who was the one reproving his plan. To me, Historia is his friend and inspired him to fight just for his sake against the system and rebel those who are over him and oppressing him. But his soft side is related to Carla, Armin and Mikasa: his family and those, who appreciate his life over his fate and urge of freedom and to be acknowledged.

Bonus: when Eren told Historia that she saved him was more like “You chose this path once and I’m sorry. I’ll be starting the rumbling and you contributed”. Historia’s face to that looks like this: “Oh no...I fucked up”. It doesn’t look like “Oh no... I don’t regret saving you because I love you and I can’t live without you”. On the contrary, that’s when she realizes that she was part of this since the beginning and that by saving him, she chose to let the rumbling happen once in the past. Then she goes along with the plan for her own reasons and because she hasn’t better options to choose either.

Summary:

Eren didn’t develop as a romantic person yet nor prioritized romantic love over his mission. It goes against a previous explicit development of EH before the trip to Marley. The farmer has a positive meaning as the father. EM is more developed and shows romantic undertones and common tropes. EH hasn’t romantic undertones and it’s more related to the mission to save the eldians.

Really I really wanted Deadstick (oc that belongs to @eve-of-halloween !) to be alive (cause hes Adorable), so I wrote a little drabble with this au.

And also, I wrote it before I saw the canonical version of Deadstick alive, so I probably could not portray it correctly. Yes. Well. I hope you will like it.

With a soft laugh, the orange-violet con said. He stood leaning against the wall of the old building, with his shoulders down to show a lack of hostility. But this didn’t really convince the older mech. Triplechanger was still at a distance, clutching his own precious treasure to his chest. He was a bit confused, weighing the pros and cons

Blitzwing did not expect to meet him here. At least not now. This used to be a short walk around the base so that his little dear daughter could refresh herself a bit. Hornet giggled and wriggled among the claws of her sire, unaware of the uncomfortable situation he was in.

On the one hand, he should have lowered his guns and demanded that con get out of here right now. On the other hand he looked calm and unarmed. And most importantly it was his own Brother...

Blitz stepped aside, frowning at Deadstick. Too much shit happened between them so that the former con could entrust his brother with the most valuable thing that he ever had.

Deadstick, whose name Blitzwing called him, though he knew that it had been changed, was smaller and weaker than Blitzwing, even after the upgrade he received. But he was still a Decepticon, a damn smart Decepticon, and that made Blitz be on his guard.

- "I understand," - Dead said again, - "you don't have to trust me. But you must believe me, that I will not return to them."

- "I can’t see the reason why not." - Blitzwing answered sternly, turning his gaze either to Deadstick or to his own hands where Hornet was, as if she could magically disappear from there.

- "I'm tired," - Deadstick simply answered. - "I've always been superfluous among the Decepticons. Even when I, instead of the triplechanger programme, had another operation, my mind did not change much. I could stand up for myself, but still felt as if i was in cage."

Blitzwing's spark trembled painfully in his frame, and his mind was clouded by those memories that came to him in nightmares

Blitz looked from his brother to his daughter, beginning to carefully pat and caress her head with a claw, at the moment when Deadstick spoke:

- "You went into stasis first. I remember that when you fell asleep, I was...broken. Scared. I cried" - Deadstick paused, expecting to hear a flurry of insults and accusations of cowardice, but much to the younger's surprise, Blitzwing looked at him silently. - "I did not want this, but obviously everyone did not care. Except...Shockwave. I remember that he went into the operating room and said to work with you first. And he took me to another room. He asked if I want to become stronger, if I want to avenge the carrier. I did not answer then because I was afraid that if I agree they will return me to the operating table. I felt that it would be bad there, it would hurt." - Deadstick again fell silent and suddenly exclaimed with sharp aggression - "I loved carrier! But I did not want to die! I knew that I would die. I was never like you!" -

Blitzwing staggered back in shock, instinctively hiding sparkling in his hands. Hornet stopped making a sound and peered curiously out of sire's claws. The Deadstick took a deep breath, calming. Maybe because he didn’t want to scare his niece. Maybe because, he was afraid of a triplechanger, who was on alert. - "I was never strong like you, I never wanted to fight with everything that I see, like you. I was different. And I knew that whatever they did to you there, I would not survive after it. And I told Shockwave that I did not want to die. He replied that my fears are true. That I really will be a waste of time and resources. Therefore, he offered me a different outcome. He offered me trainings, with a slight upgrade of my frame, which would compensate for my weak characteristics and limitations. Provided that all my loyalty will belong to the Decepticons and that I will work for him. And I agreed. I mean, it was the best deal of my life at that time." -

- "He told me that you did not survive." - Blitzwing said with increasing aggression, making efforts not to be furious and not to frighten his daughter. - "He lied."

- "Perhaps they expected that your breakdown would be beneficial for manipulations by Megatron" - answered the younger - "My frame was slightly altered and then I was taken to another place, to another ship. I spent a huge amount of time there, under the control of Shockwave, training and working with archives and other information. I probably was beneficial to them with my intellectual abilities, but despite this, my training with combat training was very tiring. I did not become a soldier, but i was quite useful in the information part, sending various information to Shockwave and doing other small and dirty work. He did not give me a single minute of rest, constantly monitoring my every move. Not to mention the fact that I continued to hear from other cons a bunch of shit about my weakness. until I started defending myself. But I was still afraid. Shockwave constantly reminded of the deal, reminded that I was alive only thanks to him and Megatron's mercy. Everyone treated me like an empty place. Once, something has changed. Shockwave...began to mention you. He had never done this before, but then he began to remind me that you left me. That you hate me Every day, he made me hate you back, but I really didn’t understand what it was all about. Therefore, I began to study the documents until I came across information that you are listed as traitors." -

Hornet let out a worried squeak when she noticed how intense Blitzwing was. He did not take his eyes off his brother, processing his words. His whole body was ready to either run or fight, for his sparkling, but everything was accompanied by painful memories.

- “And you know what?” - Deadstick looked him in the eyes. - "For the first time in my life, I felt anger. The anger that tore me apart. I was angry because you told me that we must be strong in order to take revenge on the Autobots. To avenge our carrier, it all happened because of you! And after that it was you who got along with the Autobot. It was you who connected your life with the Autobot and, moreover, gave life to sparkling from the Autobot! It's dishonest, Blitzwing, it's mean and dirty!" - Con soaked every word with resentment and anger, carefully studying the face of his older brother. To his even greater inner surprise, Deadstick noticed sorrow and regret on Blitzwing's face. But it only gave strength to continue:

- "Shockwave liked it. He kept reminding me of you, making me angrier. One day he called me. He said it was time for my last exam to prove my dedication to the Decepticons. I had to find and kill you. For this, Shockwave promised me a raise, he promised that I would get respect, which I lacked. But if I disobey him, then I will be dead. And I promised him that I would bring him your head, because I was angry with you. I crossed the half-universe to find this damn organic planet, find you and... Don't kill you! I broke a promise I made because, I can't kill my own brother. I could easily trap your autobot and, as a result, kill both with an accurate shot from a gun, but I could not! I was so close that if I didn’t kill you, then I would make you suffer by killing your autobot. But I did not do it!" - He gestured emotionally, quickly but clearly pronouncing every word. Blitzwing stood at a loss, frozen in place:

- "And now I'm here! A traitor like you just because you couldn’t kill a horse because of which I almost died, who hates me, who abandoned me!"

- "I did not hate you, Deadstick" - In one breath Blitzwing blurted out - "I was wrong. Believe me, I was very wrong"

Triplechanger's spark pounded inside, as if ready to leave his chest. His body was trembling a bit, old wounds opened and came out. All his regrets, worries and all his pain spilled over at one moment.- I'm really very sorry, Deadstick. I was blinded. I was hurt by the loss of Bronzewing, I could not think sensibly!

- “Bronzewing loss hurt me just like you Blitzwing,” - the younger answered, in a more calm tone, - “But I stopped only because I remembered him. Because this is far from what he want from us. He would never want his sparklings to end their lives spilling each other's energon. And I stopped. I lost my title and gained hatred among those with whom I lived all these years. - Blitzwing wanted to say something, but Deadstick did not allow, continuing: - "But now i am free. They hate me, probably a thousand times more than you. So I made my choice. Now there is no longer Shockwave above me. Now i'm on my own"

There was silence. Both mechas turned away, mulling over everything that had happened. Hornet put her tiny arms around Blitzwing's claw, as if she knew how hard it was for him now.

- "Deadstick" - Triplechanger was the first to break the silence. The younger brother looked at him again:

- "Please...forgive me. For everything i said. For all that i have done. I let you and our carrier down."

Deadstick silently studied his face before smiling a little - "You have changed a lot. Did the Autobots make you so soft?"

And before Blitzwing wanted to demand an answer, Con continued - "Your apologies are accepted, Blitz."

There was silence again, but this time there was no more tension. As if with one phrase, they destroyed the invisible barrier between them.

- "Well come on can i please look at her? I'm curious" - Deadstick said after some time of silence.

Blitzwing looked at him a little incredulously, but nevertheless removed his hand from the Hornet, allowing it to be seen better - "But just look. Do not touch."

Deadstick walked away from the wall and went toward them, leaning slightly to see sparkling. He stared at her for a long time with a slight smile on his face. Con raised his hand slowly, holding one claw closer to Hornet. Blitz strained again, ready, in case of something, to pull his hand back, but his brother was still careful. While Hornet herself was looking at Deadstick with no less curiosity. She poked her uncle's claw with her small hand and giggled loudly.

"She's so cute" - concluded mech, stepping back again - "Take care of her."

- "I give you my word" - Blitzwing nodded. - "What now? What will you do?"

- "I don’t know," - Deadstick answered honestly. - "I feel freedom, but I’m not sure that Decepticons will leave it just like that."

- I could not protect you then, but I think I can now." - answered Blitzwing. - "I can hide you here."

- "Blitz, i..really have to think a little more. For now, i'm gonna stay somewhere here, until I make some decision"

Blitzwing nodded - "I just...wanna tell that you're welcome here"

- "Wow. Autobots really makes you softer, don't they?

- "Shut it"

Deadstick chuckled, as they both heard voice of small little autobot. Hornet heard carrier too and began loudly honking.

“I have to go", - said Deadstone, quickly stepping aside. - “See ya, Blitz!”

- "Bye" - former con said as his younger brother disappeared into the dark. He turned to his daughter and a big scarlet grin grew on his face - "Will that be our little secret okay Hornisse?"

Hornet made a cheerful Honk sound, hugging his claw. Blitz with a Hornet made a cheerful sound, hugging his claw. Blitz with a chuckle carried her to a displeased Bumblebee.

Kurt was only out for about 15 minutes but that was long enough for Tarren and Fin to get him to the back on one of the spare cots. The gaang besides Iroh and Jee stayed to see how things went down, all gathered in the room reading maps and planning their trip while Lily paced back and forth muttering to herself before she threw her hands in the air

"Why wouldnt he tell us!?" She shouted

"I dont know Lily" Tarren said while he dabbed a cold towel on Kurt's forhead

"I mean, he could see the scars the three of us share! Why... why wouldnt he say anything!?"

"I'm sure he had a good reason Lily, I mean, how did you guys even know you had a third soulmate?" Katara asked with a small tilt to her head.

The duo both placed their hands to their chests instinctively. "Well, we didn't always know, but one day we both collapsed in the middle of a shift,"

[Flashback when? Flashback now!]

"Of course Miss Jin, Grey with honey and two sugars at 3 pm sharp just like every other Friday" Lily smiled while handing the girl her cup of tea she made for her at the exact same time every single friday evening. Jin was a favorite.

"How are you and Tarren?" Jin asked with a smile which made Lily blush

"Hah. We're doing alr-" suddenly Lily lost her breath from a blunt pain in her chest. "Tarren" she wheeled out just before letting out a yelp and clutching her chest "Tarren!"

"Lily!" Tarren's voice called out from the other sid of the Library followed by the sound of scrolls falling to the ground

The two scrambled to eachother with Jin following Lily and Fin rushing out from the back with paperwork to see what was happening. The pair crashed into eachother and held onto the others arms "what happened?" Lily cried out "whats going on. It burns, oh Gods it burns Tarren"

"I- I dont know" Tarren when to unclip his uniform, shucking off the top shirt before ripping the underdress to reveal painful bubbling skin in the shape of a hand and spreading across his chest and up to his neck down past where he managed to rip down to.

"There's a third" Jin said with a gasp

"Whoever they are theyre in trouble" Fin said bluntly while turning to Jin "Jin do you mind running to get the medic? I have to stay with them and they can't move" he gestured to their shivering crying forms.

"Are they dying?" Lily managed to wheeze out between sobs of pain

"No, this isnt direct, its just an- oh right" he nearly forgot that Lily watched her parents killed in a similar way "Lily, trust me, the third in the trio is not dying, they're being hurt, but they aren't dying"

Lily nodded, the pain lasted for a good 20 minutes before slowly dying down and feeling like it was being treated on all ends.

[Flashback over]

Katara gave a small frown "I wonder what happened to him"

"Ill tell you if you help me sit up" Kurt said with a small cough. Sokka who had been sitting near him but was lost in a map with Zuko looked up

"Oh, the munchkin awakens!"

"The... what?" Kurt laughed out

"Ignore him, he's stupid sometimes" Katara said as she helped Kurt sit up and put a pillow behind his back. "How did you get burned if you dont mind me asking?

Kurt gave a sigh and looked to Sokka and Zuko "well, honestly its probably a similar story to mr princey over there"

Zuko tensed "how do you know who I am... and you don't know how I got this"

"I do" Aang said with his hand raised "well, kinda, I think it was your da- mphf!" Zuko shut Aang up with his hands on his mouth

"Shut up, now is not about me or how I got my scar, its about short stack over there"

"Shortstack!? Okay, now that was just rude. But I got this burn from my dad, he wasn't great and had no position to even justify his abuse against me and my mom." He brought his hand to his necklace with a small frown

"He caught me hanging out by a small pond with an earth boy named Haru and was convinced I was a traitor for doing so. He lectured be when he got me home by slamming me against the door and burning me"

he looked up to Tarren and Lily "I didn't tell you, and I always hid my scar because I'm scared hes going to find me again, after he left for the war my mom fell ill and died, so I ran away to my Pappy and he's sick right now so I don't know how long I have with his protection." He gave a sigh "I dont want him to find me and know that you two are my soulmates because he'll hurt you to get to me. And I cant let you get hurt..."

Lily put her hand on her chest with a frown "I'm sorry Kurt, I had no idea. But now that we know I hope you understand we won't let anyone hurt you or us."

"And that includes me" Fin said from the doorway "you've got two master earthbenders and a vigilante assassin on your side now"

"Woah, woah, vigilante assassin?" Toph piped up "Lily is an assassin!? That's so cool!" She marched right up to her and jabbed her finger in her direction "I dont know you too much but I do know that I like you!"

Lily flushed a bright red and rubbed the back of her neck awkwardly "hah, thanks? Wait are you a beifong?"

"Sure am!"

"I didnt know the beifongs had a daughter, let alone a daughter teaching the avatar earthbending" Lily said with a smile

"Yeah, well they didn't think I was strong enough because I cant read" Toph gave a shrug

"I could teach you sometime" Lily offered

"Im blind missy" Toph said with a cackle

"I know" Lily giggled "We have Braille books, I can teach you to read braille if you want to"

"Braille?"

"Instead of ink on the pages there are raised dots in patterns to make the letters, numbers and words, Fin and his wife managed to invent it ten years ago because Fin's best friend is blind and he wanted to send him letters, but it isn't too popular yet sadly"

Toph stood there for a moment before saying anything "wait... are you telling me there's a way I can read?"

"Yeah! Its more commonly on paper but Tarren and Fin use earthbending to write it out much faster on stone tablets, its much less wasteful. But for nonbenders like myself thats not really an option, so I write with the paper and the pressing tools."

Sokka piped into the conversation with a quick jump to his feet "can you teach me too? I want to know how to write in a way that she can read" he had a determined look on his face and sound in his voice that caught everyone off guard

"I... didnt realize you cared?" Katara said with a confused look

"Of course I care Katara! I probably care too much sometimes, I care about every single one of you," he looked around "did... did you really think I didnt care?"

Aang looked at Katara and then at Sokka "she probably only thought that because you show care differently than her, I know you care, I mean you've managed to keep us all together and solve our problems, youre a uh... solve it kinda care... if thats a type"

Everyone looked at Aang befote Lily gave a small laugh "you sound like Fin, he's really caring for sure but you have to understand him to notice his love language." Lily paused "but teaching you both will take a while, even just teaching Toph here, who I assume has never been taught anything about letters and words on pages. I'm guessing you lot are traveling to stop the war?"

"You bet!" Aang said with a cheeky grin

"Well you could easily travel with them and teach them all, you and Tarren both" Kurt suggested

"Im not going anywhere without you" Lily said whil jabbing a finger towards him and leaning down close to him "I promised to protect you, and I will"

"Then how about you all come with us! We can all learn braille! I mean I'm already teaching Aang waterbending, Toph is teaching Aang earthbending. And hopefully Zuko and Iroh will teach him firebending so a new writing language should be good for all of us!" Katara said with excitement clear in her voice

It only took a bit of convincing to have Kurt join but it took a good 20 minutes worth of convincing Fin to let Tarren and Lily travel around while Fin ran the library with the help of Jin who stepped up to take over the pairs roles in the library.

But before leaving Lily showed Sokka the braille pressing tools so he could get a quick idea of the way they worked before packing up a good amount of paper and tools so she could teach them. On the road. Tarren would help Toph with hers for stone given they're both earthbenders.

Once they started packing up their own belongings Toph walked into Lily's room with a small knock "hey, you almost ready petty steps?"

"Pretty steps? Uh, yeah I just have to find a good place to put this" she moved her hand a bit with a wooden mask facing up

"What is that?"

"Its my assassin mask, its got a white base, think warm wind. Two black marks, think of cold night ponds stretching from the side tips of her nose, above the brow bone and getting much thicker before going up and becoming two horns. The eye holes and the lips are both dark red, think of the warmth of a summer evening sunset."

Toph stood in the doorway "I didnt need the description but that kind of makes colors interesting"

"Really?"

"No"

The two laughed at the bluntness but then Lily shrugged "I guess your right, I didnt need to describe it, but I wanted to anyways" she held the mask for a second before packing it away "it's from my sisters favorite spirit fable. 'Lady of the sunset pond' she had my mama read it to us every night" Lily reached to her necklace and held the roght ash stone.

"Sounds like they hold a special place to you"

"Yeah, they do"

"What happened to them?" Toph asked while leaning against the wall

"We don't have the time to unwrap another story today" Lily gave a small laugh while she set her bag down "besides I need to change before we go, can't leave in a work uniform you know, not really meant for traveling" she moved towards Toph and gave a small bow "thank you for accepting to learn braille from me"

Toph smiled shortly but then punched Lily's arm earning a confused 'ow' to which she responded "thats how I show affection"

"Ah, thats an interesting way to show it" Lily laughed "now I best be getting changed, mind stepping out? I know you see with earthbending, I've seen Tarren train without sight before so I can recognize it"

Toph laughed and stepped out "whatever Pretty steps"

Once everyone was changed and packed they all let on loading up Appa and preparing to fly to the next place. The ragtag group of 4 traumatized kids was suddenly a ragtag group of 8 traumatized kids and 2 wise old men traveling on a flying bison with a small mischievous lemur. What a busy two days huh?

she isn’t really a good mom to her 3 kids, hires a nanny to deal with them as she joins her father in helping him do business things so that she doesn’t go completely mad. it really starts just so she can get out of the house and not think of them.

she isnt really a good wife in this time either because her husband LOVES their daughters and she accidentally avoids him in avoiding the kiddos.

but on the silver lining: she gets 1 thing to care about. AND THATS THE AGATHE EXPEDITION. It is her baby (yeah i know. ironic) and she likes using her charm, wit, and intelligence to gather the resources to help her father plan it. it’s natural for her and it feels so right 

BUT THEN HER DAD DIES (traitor) AND her eldest brother (who is now the patriarch) is like “k we gon cancel this because no one knows how to man it” “UMMM IM RIGHT HERE?? “yeah but lol youre a woman”

and that really sends her off the deep end. like almost hurt your own daughters deep end.

BUT HER HUSBAND STOPS HER RIGHT BEFORE SHE ALMOST KILLS THEM IN HER MADNESS and is like “oKAY IF I LET CONVINCE YOUR BROTHER TO LET YOU GO TO THE ARCTIC WILL YOU STOP BEING INSANE???” (rip no one cares about mental health yet)

and she says “yes”

and he says “okay shit. fine. go.”

and off she went to the arctic. She kinda put her hedonistic tendencies to the side while on the agathe because she actually cared about this 1 thing. and she wanted to do it RIGHT and to be taken seriously. but she still had little bits of sass here and there. she was a bossy lady, that's to be sure. sometimes, when she was in full Overseer Mode, it was hard to tell who was the real captain of the Agathe.

but then disaster strikes and for some reason, her maternal need to PROTECT HER OWN has come to life. like 5 years fucking late (pour one out for her 3 unloved daughters) 

basically, the agathe crew are her Babies and if you fucking touch them she will smile as she cuts your hand off (metaphorically, not literally). she’s not the violent type. shes more of the, manipulative ‘will ruin you life so you dont want to live anymore’ type. 

also lets not talk about how part of her protectiveness of the agathe crew comes from how she is trying to right the wrongs she committed to her own kids through them. lets not....talk....about.....that

I really, genuinely don’t understand why people think Isa, and only Isa, is irredeemable? All textual evidence points to Isa having been a vulnerable teenager brainwashed by an older person in a position of power over him, exactly like Terra and Riku.

This is a really good post. I totally agree, I miss pre-KH3 Saix/Isa, too. His character was handled so much more respectfully. I think the lack of sympathy for Isa was a major reason why Nomura decided to pretty much write him off in KH3, which is such a waste. I think it was fairly obvious that Isa was supposed to be possessed and not really a bad guy. Anyone can see that after BBS he was going to be redeemed in the end. TBH, I think the reason why so many people in this fandom had no sympathy for him and demonized him was because he got in the way of their preferred ship/trio. 

Saix was a child when he was kidnapped by the Organization. He and Axel clearly did not want to be there; they’d been planning how to get free for ten years, under pain of death if they were discovered. They were being held captive. Xemnas literally mutilated him so that he could never get away even if he ran (Recusant, btw, is a word that means ‘a person who refuses to submit to a higher authority’).

Yep. Saix was a prisoner of the organization. There was never anything suggesting he was there of his own free will. He was mutilated so they could keep track of where he was at all times. The organization has certain rules. You cannot leave on your own. By changing this about his backstory, you ruin his whole character.

Everything Saix and Axel planned against the Apprentices was completely justified. Except for Ienzo, all of the adults were complicit in holding them captive, even if they didn’t actively abuse either of them personally. Xaldin even advocates killing children who don’t want to be there; he was the one who said they should kill Xion for being a traitor (Saix was the one who defended her).

Yeah, I always thought so, too. Axel seemed to have a very good reason to kill the apprentices. By changing his backstory, they make him look like Rambo for no reason. It does Axel a disservice. And yes, Xaldin is horrible. He faced NO consequences for anything he did. It’s strange how Isa had to atone but not Dilan.

Saix did no worse than Riku did, but it took him years of brainwashing to get that way, where it only took Riku a few weeks. Riku turned on Sora and tried to kill him for completely petty reasons, whereas Saix only turned on Axel when it was a case of killing Axel or being killed himself, a position Axel had knowingly put him in.

Yeah, I always thought KH1 Riku was pretty bad. I liked him, but his reasons for turning evil in the first game were extremely petty and hard to sympathize with. I was hoping BBSV2 would retcon things and “fix” him somewhat.

Terra was also brainwashed and manipulated by Xehanort, but nobody is calling for Terra’s head. He’s been enslaved by Xehanort for ten years, but no one holds him responsible for the things Xemnas did, which were far worse than anything Saix has ever done.

Completely agree. Terra doesn’t have to atone for what Xemnas did. So why should Isa have to atone for what Saix did when Saix was also a Nort?

Saix never lies to the player about his goals. In fact, Saix never directly lies, period. His objections to Axel’s behavior are all ‘Your friendship is an illusion’ and ‘your feelings are a lie.’ Saix has a stated objection to self-deception as a moral rule. His last words are begging for his heart back. This is not a man bullshitting about genuinely feeling empty and incomplete.

Saix was always a sad character. Literally the only the only two organization members that Sora felt sad for in KH2 were Axel and Saix. Both of them were the ones that were longing for hearts the most. Even in Days, you could tell that Roxas felt pity for Saix too when he got on his knees and was begging for his heart.

There is literally no way Saix knew about the Nort thing. Xigbar taunts Saix to his face in the Days extra cutscene about the heart thing and Saix fails to understand what he means. Saix is also being deliberately kept in the dark about Xion’s actual development for the same reason. He had no way of knowing he was running his head into a snare and did not choose to be a Nort.

Absolutely! That was one of the most interesting things about Saix. Saix was NOT like Xigbar. He did NOT voluntarily become a Nort. Days built up a mystery about him. And then they just completely threw it away!

His treatment of Xion was reprehensible, but he had at the time no way of knowing she was a real person. This obviously doesn’t justify his behavior but it explains it. He believed her to be literally a machine and treated her as though she were just a clever facsimile that didn’t work right. The fact that he defended her from Xaldin (by saying she was just malfunctioning and had no free will so therefore couldn’t be punished as a traitor) proves he didn’t think she had feelings.  

Yeah, I think when Saix defended Xion when Xaldin called her a deserter was interesting. I don’t think he cared about Xion being eliminated. But she wasn’t a “deserter”. She was just a “broken” machine. Leaving is against the rules. And so is losing control. Broken things are more likely to go berserk and lose control. Hmmmm.

Kingdom Hearts is a Disney game about the redemptive power of friendship and healthy support networks. Saix’s main reason for falling to Xehanort was the belief he had to do everything himself, and his rejection of friendship as a force that could help him. Riku and Terra did the same thing. Riku was redeemed because Sora forgave him. Terra will certainly be redeemed by Aqua. There is no textual reason why Isa should not follow this pattern.

Exactly! I love Riku and Terra, but I think Isa was even more innocent than either of them. He was a victim of mind control! I don’t even think he needed Lea to forgive him. He just needed to be revived by him.

i dont think ive made a post like this for melyn so: lyn’s relationships with her companions (+ a few others) post

qyzen: pretty much immediately melyn was Interested in him, though it took a little bit for her to actually start understanding him. they became close pretty quickly despite not totally getting each other at first due to their shared love for yuon- they both respected that theyd go to the ends of the galaxy for her if need be. as time passed, lyn began to take some aspects of trandoshan culture that she’d learnt from qyzen to help her understand the force- he was the first one to really teach her how to use non-traditional means of understanding the force (even tho that definitely wasn’t what he intended lmao)

tharan: oh man they did NOT hit it off. melyn had basically never been flirted with before in her life and reacted poorly to his flirts. frankly the only reason she had any respect for him at first was because he was friends with syo. that being said, she did start to warm up to him the more time she spent with him, growing to admire his relationship with holiday. they never really saw eye to eye, but melyn was very happy when he joined the alliance

nadia: pretty much immediately lyn got along really well with nadia. she loved nadia’s optimism, and was always curious to hear her take on situations. after nadia’s father died & she became her padawan, lyn’s care for nadia became a touch protective. despite being only a couple of years older than nadia, lyn took her role as master very seriously, and did her best to guide nadia. lyn also felt that nadia helped her to stay in the light- ultimately, she didn’t want to disappoint her (or, worse, drag her down with her)

zenith: zenith is probably the one member of her crew that lyn struggled with the most. for the most part, they got along- but something that lyn can’t get past is zenith’s lack of an ability to understand why some people feel forced to make terrible decisions. they definitely butted heads a number of times over the treatment of those who were ‘traitors’ due to necessity

felix: out of all of her crew, felix was likely the one person most able to make sure melyn was actually taking care of herself. he clocked pretty early that she had a tendency to overwork, and knew how to passively help her with that. melyn liked hanging out with felix, too, because he made her feel like a normal person- moreso later when he gets used to her being a jedi (she’s also very fascinated by the holocron in his head but... tries to be sensitive about it)

bonus round!

yuon: lyn got on with yuon right from the beginning, and was deeply concerned by her sickness. yuon falling sick was the domino that caused lyn to dedicate herself to the concept of free will- the way she sees it, condemning anyone for choices that are not their own would be the same as condemning yuon, and that isn’t something she could ever bring herself to do

syo: syo was one of the jedi to find lyn and bring her to the order, and was the jedi that she had the most contact with growing up. he’s a large part of why she wanted to become a consular, and she tried her best to mirror him. she respected him a great amount and saw him as a father-figure. after corellia, lyn continued to visit syo- to check on his progress, and to continue to seek his counsel. she has also spoken to the first son a few times, and while things are, uh... rocky there, theyre not as awful as one might expect. especially after she becomes commander of the alliance

satele: the other jedi who brought lyn to the order. lyn wasnt particularly close to satele growing up- she felt some connection to her due to her role in bringing her to the order, but they didnt see each other often (though, the times their paths did cross were always significant to lyn). when she joined the council, satele gained even more of lyn’s respect- they often saw things in similar ways. now, lyn is Very concerned for satele’s wellbeing, but is trying not to think about it

One Piece: Chapter 973 - Predictions

It is interesting to see the 20 years idea came from Oden. In the end, it seems that by having learned of all the secrets of the world, Oden had a much better understanding of the overall picture than Toki. After all, the end of the void century might have been a very chaotic time and Toki was maybe too young to understand what was going on.

An updated timelinel:

41 years ago: start of the flashback, the Mountain God incident

39 years ago: Oden becomes Daimyo of Kuri. The same year, Roger reaches Lode Star and realizes there might be another "last island”

38 years ago: the incident at God Valley

33 years ago: former Rocks pirates start recruiting. Kawamatsu, Inu and Nekko join Oden

30 years ago: Oden joins WB and leaves Wano

28 years ago: Roger realizes he has a terminal disease, he goes to the twin capes to recruit Crocus and starts his last journey. Momonosuke is born on the Moby Dick.

26 years ago: Hiyori is born on the Moby Dick. Oden is poached by Roger and leaves the Whitebeard pirates for a year. Roger is shown the road poneglyph from Zou.

25 years ago: Roger and his crew reach the final island and name it Laugh Tale, they then disband. Oden comes back to Wano, then starts to make a fool of himself.

24 years ago: Roger turns himself in to the Marines and is executed.

23 years ago: Moria clashes against Kaido. Ryuma's grave is robbed.

20 years ago: Oden and his men attack Kaido, they are defeated and captured. Oden is executed but saves his retainers. Momonosuke and Kinemon are sent 20 years into the future.

I really hope that there is more to the reason behind the start of Nekos and Inus feud. A 20 year long hatred for eachother just because Neko rejoiced ? Why would Inu hate him for that ? Neko didnt provoke Orochi and Kaido, Oden himself said their minds were already set on killing him anyway. Now, to some prediction:

Chapter 973: This chapter is the last in the flashback. Usually Oda doesnt match the end of a flashback with the end of a chapter, he likes to transition in and off of it between his panels. Toki's mind is set on sending the scabbards 20 years into the future. Now they only have to come to her. At the start of the chapter we will switch back to Kinemons party fleeing the Flower capital. Shinobu may have to sacrifice herself to stall Orochis men in pursue. Along the way, as we know, the argument between Neko and Inu will get worse and they will eventually fight among themselves. That will enable Orochis men to capture them. The other scabbards will not stop and continue rushing back to Kuri. They will find that Odens castle is already in flames, attacked by Kaidos crew. Kaido is inside the castle, preparing to eliminate Odens family. Denjiro and Ashura will attack Kaido and drive him off to buy some time. Toki will then explain her power to the scabbards and send Kinemon, Kiku, Raizo, Kanjuro and Momo 20 years in the future. She will then entrust Hiyori to Kawamatsu and tell him to go into hiding. Finally, she will tell her prophecy as the castle will collapse in flames. I believe that a this moment she chose to teleport 20 years in the future to see if the scabbards would succeed. It is possible that she chose a date further back in time than the scabbards and that she hasnt even reappeared in the present a this stage. If she decided to do that, I dont think it would be shown just yet in the story. In the second half of the chapter we will have the last panels from the past and transition back to the present, on the shore where the scabbards were awaiting their allies. Their argument will be interrupted when an arrow with a message will land close to them, an arrow shot by Usopp from far away and bearing a message from Luffy.

I think this 3rd act needs to address two more plot points regarding Wano's intrigues before the raid on Onigashima takes place in the fourth act. Who is the traitor, and who really is Kyoshiro ? There are chances these two intrigues are linked, and will be solved together. And for that, the plot needs to move back to the flower capital.

So about Kyoshiro. I do believe in the theory where Denjiro and Kyoshiro are the same person. There are several clues leading to that. First, there is the fact Kyoshiro is not loyal to Orochi, at all. He has also been introduced in the first act along the remaining scabbards. Kiku: chapter 913, Kyoshiro: chapter 919, Ashura: chapter 920, Kawamastu: chapter 920. Conveniently, he is also a samurai and money changer. When he finds the card with Kinemons coded message for the rebellion, he seems to understand it. For the record, only those who secretely swore 20 years ago to rize up when the time is ripe were meant to understand the message (so those who had a crescent tatoo on their ankle). He also talks about Toki's death like a first-hand witness. But who was there when she died ? Kaido, his men, maybe some retainers of Kuri and probably Denjiro and Ashura. Where Im getting is that story-wise Kyoshiro was left behind in the capital on purpose. He will join the uprising and enable the thousand or so captured samurai in the capital to take up arms (which will bring their forces to ~5000, the ideal number Kinemon was hoping for at the start of the arc). He will also potentially help in finding the traitor if there is any.

Speaking of the traitor. I tried spinning the problem in every direction I could think of. There are too many possibilities still when you consider that important info might be withheld by Oda. For instance,  it is possible that Shinobu was captured and tortured 20 years ago, had her spirit broken and now secretely serves Orochi. Which would explain the contrast between the thorough and badass Shinobu from the past and the goofy and somewhat incompetent Shinonu from the present. Or the two are not the same person and the present one is an impostor. Still too many possibilities, and not only regarding Shinobu.

A word regarding Luffy/Joy Boy. I really don't think Oda is taking the path of some "reincarnation". I think only the will/drive for freedom is surviving and passing from individual to individual. But all is not about the will and ideal. One can only accomplish so much without some sort of natural power. Some people are forces of nature and blessed with attributes such as conqueror haki/ ability to hear the voice of all things/ ability to turn all the people around you into allies. There is one or more of such type born with those attributes in each generation. All of them will not use these abilities for good purposes. All of them will not become explorers or pirates, all of them will not have the opportunity to reach Laugh Tale and learn the secrets of the world. And even if they did, we understand now that they need at least the help of Poseidon to do anything about it. I think Montblanc Norland was a predecessor  of Luffy and Roger. He ran out of luck and got executed before accomplishing more. Roger was a "chosen one" as much as Luffy and Norland but was too early and he understood it. He was still the first to reach the last island since the void century and decided to make good use of this feat for the future. With Luffy we are only following the story of that one capable man who came at the right time, who was by any means luckier that all those who preceded him. The reason Oden really believes in the coming of a new Joy Boy in 20 years is because of what he heard from the sea kings and the actions of Roger. By talking of the One Piece and initiating a new pirate era, Roger ensured that the capable individual(s) of the next generation had a pretty good chance to strife for freedom and try to explore the whole world and its history.
