Tomarry AU

Where Tom wakes up in a world as a canon fodder, no named villain who is fated to die a horrible death in the hands of the hero. He is that one villain that is just destined to die and oh boy, does he hate it.

And so, like the logical man he is; he decides to kill the hero. Or to be more precise, he tries to. But, he is stopped. No, no not by the hero. The hero is weak, still. He hasn't gone through his “character development arc” which happens after the hero's best friend dies. And you see, that is the problem. The problem is the hero's best friend. Everytime, every single time, when Tom is sure that he will be successful, that damn Harry Potter has to come running.

Poison? Harry is the one who gets poisoned because he decides to eat what was meant for the hero. Assassination? Harry pushes the hero away. A burning tower? Harry jumps in and saves the guy.

And Tom hated that guy. The guy who literally wasn't given a personality in the book. The guy who's personality was basically "sacrificed himself for the hero". The guy who looks at Tom like he knows what he is doing. The guy, Harry Potter was infuriating.

But does it stop Tom from killing the main character? No. Cue to him making the most convoluted plan there is to get the hero to die. And the plan? Get Harry kidnapped. And lure the hero into a place where he could finally get him to die.

Alas, as always — it doesn't work. And just like always, Harry Potter finds a way to destroy his plans. Again.

Because,

“I know what you are, Riddle.” Harry, with blood dripping down his chin and green eyes glowing (always glowing), says as he stares at him from the place Tom had him tied.

(i am still alive, BTW!! Just wanted to make that known!!! I know I've been extremely quiet lately but I'm on serious babysitting duty and so I just barely have time to do anything other than taking care of kids. I'll be done with that after wednesday of this upcoming week so hopefully I can get back to writing/posting/etc soon enough!)

(in order to keep this post On Brand, i actually did watch the mario movie with my two nieces (they are 4 and 6) yesterday and the younger one pronounces Luigi's name very earnestly as "Wa-Weegie" and it's the funniest, sweetest thing ever, i laugh every time)

#i have always known that L sounds are hard for young children but experiencing it in real life WILL catch you offguard in the best way lolol #my nieces had seen the movie once before but they were REALLY exited to watch again. they said it's one of their favorites :)#also the 6 year old during the sewer scenes coming in with some RUTHLESS mario criticism which caught me offguard lol #her: 'why did mario bring luigi down here? this is dangerous! he's older and luigi's younger. he shouldn't do that.'#me: well they always do everything together!#her (unmoved): it's not safe. i don't like that.#me internally: dang. harsh and a little bit fair #i additionally got told a riveting story by her about someone in her class who is in LOVE with mario (the man)#and pretends to be peach on the regular because of it when they play #and y'know what? relatable. live your truth little friend of my niece's

maybe not an unpopular opinion but more uncommon from what i've seen but: the racism and sexism and general harassment characters face from the townsfolk is infinitely scarier than anything upside down related. like i was more afraid for lucas and erica in the last episode when they got ambushed by the jocks than i was scared of vecna all season. and i definitely don't trust the duffle bags to handle any of that with grace or tact ((they very much don't, obviously)), but i think it could be really interesting to explore how the supernatural monsters aren't half as scary as the people these characters have to deal with every day

dad!james WOULD dress up as santa claus, but it’s not even for his kids. sure, he loves how excited and happy they get about it, but it’s mostly just for him because he can be an excited weirdo sometimes.

on christmas eve, when the kids finally go to bed and it’s time to set out the gifts, you’ll come downstairs to see james STILL in his santa claus costume. you’re sure he’s itching with that fake beard on and sweltering with all that fabric and the fake belly but he’s just so smiley about it that it makes you second guess everything you thought you knew about that costume.

it ends up scarring your kids, though, because one christmas eve, they muster up the balls to sneak downstairs and catch a glimpse of santa claus, only to find him kissing their mom under the mistletoe (because it didn’t matter that their dad had worn something similar all day, this was christmas eve and they KNEW this was the real santa claus).

#they start crying definitely bc WHY MOM #and then james almost starts crying because his babies are crying #and he rips off that fake beard and shows them that it’s just him #but then they start crying harder bc WHERES THE REAL SANTA #and you have to spend an hour tucking them back into bed and convincing them that santa knows when they’re sleeping #and that he won’t show up until they are #james potter x reader #christmas themed post in june?#yep #lolol
