“Having a health condition, being chronically ill, or disabled, doesn’t make you and your body any less worthy of respect and dignity. Health is not a prerequisite for your presence in and contribution to this world, whatever that may be, being valued.” - Jess Campbell via @haes_studentdoctor Monday reminder. You and your body deserve to be respected and valued exactly as you are, right this second, regardless of your health status - physical, mental, emotional otherwise. #haes #haesig #healthateverysize #healthateverysizemovement #health #healthy #fat #fatpositive #fatacceptance #bopo #bodypositive #bodyacceptance #bodyaffirmative #bodyaffirmation #bodyaffirmations #mondaymotivation #mondaymood #monday #mondayvibes #haestherapy #haesnyc #bodyaffirmativetherapy #ed #edrecovery (at Greenwich Village, New York, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/B7RAVZDg-_T/?igshid=nczgjiiidr53

For a person in recovery from an eating disorder, restriction/dieting is like a drug. It is not something that can be dabbled in. Last week I shared a post about a platform promoting a diet, whilst they themselves shared their own ED Recovery. I don’t think Pursuing weight loss is ever an answer let alone in ED recovery. The message I want to to convey here, eating disorders have similarities to addiction. With addictions we avoid the trigger. This is not possible for a person with an eating disorder- avoiding food contributes to the issue. (Additionally food addiction is not a thing- despite what diet culture tells us). Dieting, restriction these are avoidable. These are addictive. If we are working on the re-wiring process of our brains then ultimately this will no longer be something you are drawn to. The emphasis should be on unlearning fat phobia, bias and learning body neutrality. Dieting is not congruent with this. Just like someone in substance addiction recovery you cannot safely engage in dieting. It is not worth it. #eatingdisorderecovery #eatingdisorderrecovery #bodyneutrality #antidiet #antidietrevolution #ditchdietculture #antidietproject #healthateverysizemovement #anorexiafighter #anorexiarecoverycommunity #hypothalamicamenorrhea #hypothalamicamenorrhearecovery #orthorexia #orthorexiarecovery #atypicalanorexiarecovery #atypicalanorexiaawareness #bulimiarecovery #bingeeatingrecovery #osfedrecovery #fuckeatingdisorders #edrecoverywarrior https://www.instagram.com/p/CRKwXThpVge/?utm_medium=tumblr

she wants you to know her body rules. it is beauty-full whether or not you agree. she is more than the circumstances that have weighed her down. she does not exist for your viewing pleasure. she has unlearned the language of self denial she found herself so fluent in. she embraces pleasure. she vacillates between body positivity and struggling to make space for her conflicting experiences. sometimes her body does not feel like home. instead, she has learned to fully accept her truth, even when it embodies complexities and contradictions. you may not understand, and she does not need you to. . . . . . . . #bodypositive #bodypositivity #selflove #haes #beautiful #edrecovery #awareness #healthateverysize #stopshaming #bodyliberation #healthateverysizemovement #womenempowerment #women #womensupportingwomen #womeninbusiness #loveislove #healingjourney #therapy #edrecoverywarrior #eatingdisorderawareness #recovery #selfcare #acceptance #anorexianervosarecovery #bulimianervosarecovery #eatingdisorderrecovery #therapistsofinstagram #counseling #selfcompassion (at Kelowna, British Columbia) https://www.instagram.com/p/B9RV2ZmhibP/?igshid=1qjn34m23qbro

#saturday I’ve been listening to @npr Throughline’s podcast and it’s series on Capitalism. They explore capitalism and neoliberalism and how these ideologies (yes ideologies) have over time fueled notions of ‘individual freedumbs and responsibility’. We know this is untrue, yet our everyday lives and choices are fueled by this false premise. It also gets into how the human psyche has literally shifted from choosing experiences through concepts of justice, care, desire, and enjoyment to being consumed about everything we do in relation to our own human capital value-are the experiences we choose enhancing or depreciating our value within this capitalist system? What’s happened in the Gulf of Mexico is a CRIME not an accident, but we wanna continue to believe that we cause it and hold responsibility 4 changing it. I’ve had to remind myself of this lately. It can be easy to underestimate how far you have come, especially amidst a slip. But a slip does not mean square one. It’s area for learning from and growth. Having a slip does not equal failure. Choosing to get back up and on track takes courage. Choosing recovery multiple times a day, every day, is what takes courage, especially in a culture that undermines the things you are trying to challenge. #eatingdisorderecovery #eatingdisorderrecovery #anorexiarecover #anorexiafighter #anorexianervosarecovery #anorexiawarrior #hypothalamicamenorrhearecovery #orthorexiarecovery #orthorexianervosa #atypicalanorexia #bulimiarecovery #bulimianervosarecovery #osfedrecovery #bedrecovery #ditchdietculture #antidietrevolution #haes #healthateverysizemovement #edawareness https://www.instagram.com/p/CQ-cmBnpfWm/?utm_medium=tumblr

Weight stigma is present everywhere. Eating disorders can go undetected under the radar because they do not meet the “typical” stereotype. THERE IS NO TYPICAL stereotype, the one that’s created by society and media is the rarity. Eating disorders do not discriminate but our society and weight stigma does discriminate. You can have an eating disorder in any shape/ size, gender ethnicity. Someone in a larger body can be very sick, as sick as someone in a “stereotypically emaciated” body. If you are underweight for your natural size or engaging in disordered eating/ behaviour you your body suffers. We need to change the narrative that eating disorders are only an issue in smaller sizes. Early intervention needs to be available to all. #eatingdisorderrecovery #eatingdisorderawareness #eating #weightstigma #weightstigmaawareness #atypicalanorexiarecovery #atypicalanorexia #atypicalanorexianervosa #anorexianervosarecovery #anorexiarecovering #anonovo #HAES, #healthateverysizemovement #healthateverysize #healthatanysize https://www.instagram.com/p/CMX7JDznySh/?igshid=g7xirmp5g1nb

I think “recovery burnout” is real. I think it’s important to be kind to yourself if your feeling it. Use that self kindness tool kit. Recovery doesn’t always look like massive changes everyday. Often it’s boring, but for the days it’s not boring and you’re fighting to be in recovery it’s important to put the work in. Acknowledging it’s boring, tiring is ok. #hypothalamicamenorrhearecovery #hypothalamicamenorrhea #eatingdisorderrecovery #edrecovery #edwarriors #anorexianervosarecovery #anorexiafighter #anorexiarecovery #bulimiarecovery #bulimierecovery #fuckdietculture #fuckdiet #antifatphobia #fuckeatingdisorders #fuckana #fuckbulimia #fuckanorexianervosa #atypicalanorexia #atypicalanorexiarecovery #atypicalanorexianervosa #bingeeatingrecovery #bingeeatingdisorderrecovery #healthateverysizemovement #haes, #burnoutrecovery #edrecoveryburnout, #selfkindnessmatters #selfkindness #selfcompassionjourney https://www.instagram.com/p/COEWUW_pI69/?igshid=1ixft69vjmm2w

A memory came up on my Facebook feed. It reminded me how when I was in the grips of anorexia seeing pictures of myself repulsed me. But they repulsed me no matter how I looked, as I got sicker the more warped this became. When this picture came up on my feed, I didn’t tear it apart. I don’t “love my body” I’m not sure anyone truly does. I’m grateful for what it allows me to do. I have bad body image days but nothing like when I was lost in my own head fighting the eating disorder voice. You can learn to change your thoughts. #hypothalamicamenorrhea #hypothalamicamenorrhearecovery #anorexiarecovery #anorexiasucks #anorexianervosarecovery #anorexiafighter #anorexiabingepurgesubtyperecovery #bulimiarecovery #bulimierecovery #ditchdiets, #antidietculture #antidiet #fuckanorexianervosa #fuckanorexiaforever #atypicalanorexia #atypicalanorexiarecovery #atypicalanorexianervosa #fuckeatingdisorders #edrecovery #fuckana #healthateverysize #healthateverysizemovement https://www.instagram.com/p/COMty0vJIyQ/?igshid=d2k2id42qlda

she wonders why you never call yourself beautiful she sees the way you look in the mirror that also reflects her. she does not understand why softness isn’t beautiful. why roundness isn’t preferred. she is witness to the compulsion to staying small. a fierce competition that you can not win. she believes you momma. not what you say but what you convey. #bodypositive #bodypositivity #bodypositivemovement #instagram #eatingdisorderrecovery #mentalhealthwarrior #mentalillness #loveyourself #loveyourbodyseries #loveyourbodynow #loveyourskin #selfcare #selflove #selfcompassion #parenting #notwhatyousay #raisingdaughters #womenempowerment #womensupportingwomen #womeninbusiness #empoweringwomen #haes #healthateverysize #healthateverysizemovement (at Kelowna, British Columbia) https://www.instagram.com/p/B7BW3bchHpQ/?igshid=1v181t4xjh7bg
