do you have any headcanons for the dunebabies (toph and aang's kids)?
Hello Anon!
Thank you so much for sending an ask - as you can tell I absolutely love talking about Taang and everything related to them. I especially love talking about the dunebabies and how they'd handle parenting!
Ok, as I previously stated in a past post, I really think Toph and Aang would have a very big family - about five to six kids. It comes in part because of Aang's burden of repopulating the Air Temples and keeping his culture alive. But I just genuinely believe that Toph and Aang are such a good team and couple that they take the challenge of raising a large family, test their communication, relationship and love.
They have 3 girls (one earthbender, two airbenders) and 3 boys (one earthbenders and two airbenders);
Their first-born son, at the ripe age of two, sneezes twelve feet into the air - scaring his mother as she momentarily lost "sight" of her boy; his father, on the other hand, cried with thrill with the notion he was no longer the last living proof of the Air Nomads;
Their first three children are all airbenders. Toph loves them more than she'll ever be able to put into words, but a part of her does fear that her earthbending genetics would not pass onto her children. Thankfully, their fourth child, a beautiful girl, at one, whilst throwing a temper tantrum, cracked their living room wall.
All their children are menaces - they either adopted their mother's humor and confidence, or inherited their father's mischievous and playful personality. They're kind and respectful children, but, just like their parents when they were young, they love having fun and goofing off;
Toph loves parenthood, adores being a mother. It's something she had once believed ill-suited her and she'd worried she lacked the nurturing, soft, gentle touch that came naturally to Katara and Suki. Despite everyone's concerns, Toph is an amazing mom. Laidback and carefree but strict when need be; she gives her children the freedom her own parents had denied her but always keeping a close, protective "eye" to guarantee their safety; she plays with the kids, tells them bedside stories of her adventures with Aang, suffocates them with tender love and care (love and care exclusively reserved for her family). Aang never once doubted her.
Aang would take all his kids to the Air Temples - earthbenders and airbenders alike - he took great pride in teaching them his culture, his values and morals, his history. He'd promised Toph he wouldn't force the Air Nomad lifestyle on his kin, unless they showed interest in pursuing it; additionally, Toph had made it clear that if he ever showed any sigh of favoritism for his airbending children, she'd terminate the Avatar Cycle with him - it was a threat he had taken seriously (though Aang would never neglect his two little earthbenders, he loved all their kids equally);
The kids adore teasing and pranking Toph because of her blindness - especially her airbending boys. They had found great joy in airbending their way out of her sight to escape punishment - so much so, that she had crafted little metal bracelets for all her children so she could keep tabs on their whereabouts (and so they wouldn't surprise her into an early grave);
The dunebabies love their uncles and aunts - and when accompanied by the steambabies and bladebabies... chaos and mayhem is certain. It doesn't help that the two youngest members of the Gaang enjoy causing their friends just as much stress as their children - many a times, Aang and Toph would join all the children in terrorizing the Fire Palace Staff or pissing their parents off;
Instead of having a permanent home - they have little homes in every nation due to Aang's Avatar duties. However, once the children grow old enough to go to school, cultivate friendships and need that stability - Aang and Toph agree that a forever home was long overdue. They eventually settle to reside within a calm town just on the outskirts of Republic City;
Toph eventually reforms the old Dai Li into Republic City's law enforcers. Balancing motherhood with her professional life was no easy feat, however, she and Aang had always worked in perfect harmony. So, when she needed to be present at work to teach metalbending, Aang would be at home caring for the kids; When Aang needed to leave for Peace Summits, Political Events and other Avatar duties, Toph would step in. They were always a team and because of that their kids never once had to be alone or without a parental figure.
Despite the odds, Aang and Toph raise their children beautifully and their a happy family, imperfect yet wonderful.

Abraxasverse Timeline GxK:TNE Headcanons and Ideas - Part 1
Exactly what it says in the title bar. ;) Let’s dive down the mine shaft and see what’s in there.
-
(1) Kong’s introduction to the Scarred Ones. What if in the Abraxasverse version, when Kong first meets the Scarred Ones, his first meeting with the Scar King is a bait-and-switch where we’re expecting it to go just like the film version with tension in the air, but then the Scar King instead of mocking Kong’s tooth, appears to welcome the foreign Great Ape with open arms in the hopes Kong will join his ranks permanently, showing a social predatory intelligence as the Scar King paints himself as a rough-around-the-edges but “Dark Is Not Evil” warrior type.
Of course, it’s all an act and the Scar King’s a “jerk with a heart of jerk” Bitch in Sheep’s Clothing. Once Kong discovers Shimo, how the slaves are treated, how the Scarred Ones got sealed off and/or the Scarred Ones’ plans for the surface world, the next time Kong sees the Scar King about it, the mask comes off and Scar shows in very short and successive order to everyone who’s within his court-cave what a Fucking Monster he really is.
(ADDENDUM: From what I’ve heard of the film portrayal, I have no objection with the canon portrayal where the Skar King’s character is basically just a bully who acquired way too much power - I think that’s a really good message to send, and one that really needs to be heard and listened to in 2024’s socio-political climate; plus it does have a kind of “jungle island adventure story” simplicity to it that fits Kong. I just think it could be interesting in the Abraxasverse to show the Scar King can be a bit of a cunning social predator when it really suits him.)
(2) Tiamat willingly (and NON-fatally) sacrifices her energy to trigger Godzilla’s metamorphosis. Before Xenilla’s incursion occurs, does Tiamat know where Ozymandias disappeared to all those aeons ago? Did she witness Gigan’s worshippers catching him, or did he just disappear one day and she’s never found out what happened to him? If the former version is so, then maybe: Tiamat knows what the Scar King has done to Shimo, and she’s willing to exhaust her energy saving another old friend from the humiliating capture that she wasn’t able to save Ozymandias from.
(3) Jia and the Chens. As a Mythology Gag to the film (since Abraxasverse Mothra is already alive again in Abraxas, and I frankly hate how GxK:TNE completely removed the “Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane” ambiguity for both the audience and the in-universe cast to show them outright magic), Jia ends up having more contact with the Chens after it becomes apparent she has a telepathic link to Mothra.
(3.5) Ilene Chen and Ilene Andrews absolutely fail to escape the ensuing teasing over their shared first names.
(4) Abraxasverse Raymond Martin.
(4.1) I like to think he’d be a good deal less Over-Cartoonish than the comic version.
(4.2) Perhaps he was associated with Apex Cybernetics and Project Talos’ development in 2020-24, but split from Apex and wanted to do his own thing when he decided towards the end that Apex, caring most about world hegemony, didn’t care ENOUGH about the “slaughtering Titans” part of their plan for Raymond’s liking.
(4.3) I like to think Mark and Raymond would have at least one face-to-face encounter. Given Raymond is like a really nasty mirror image of who Mark was in KotM if Mark wasn’t “all bark and no bite” about exterminating the Titans, and with none of Mark’s redeeming qualities.
---
Oooh, all good ideas! I better keep these in mind for the extended timeline...

Thomas ranch Au headcanons
main post
Currently about halfway done with the next fic chapter, so it's about time I get something out about one of the main players in this chapter....and unfortunately not my most liked character. Sorry Thomas, six year old me kinda cemented it when they saw you in a picture book with Rosie that made you two sound like a couple.
He has a kind of sketchy employment history, not like that's strange on this ranch. Except he does actually know what he's doing because he grew up on a horse ranch himself. Edward is very thankful for this little fact when the next three permanent guys are near clueless.
He's the original Sir Topham Hatt's favorite, a position he kind of fell into. Partly because unlike Edward he's much more naive and people-pleasing. He's actually a bit of a pain for quite a while.
eventually he wisens up a lot more after the incident that spawns Henry's Tunnel and even joins in to a degree on the strike, enabling them while trying to pretend he knows nothing ong don't of the Fat Controller (as the ranchers have begun calling Topham Hatt 1)
He and James have a sort of brotherly friendship dynamic, teasing each other a lot. when they're not busy with work, sometimes they go racing, with Thomas on Annie and James on his own favourite mare, Black Beauty (named after the one in the book)
Speaking of which, Thomas had two mares that Topham 1 let's him basically own, Annie and Clarabel. They help him take tours into the hills and he uses them whenever he needs to take visitors somewhere or get around himself. He usually takes Annie, since Clarabel is a little less suited for riding. Though her saddle does come with saddlebags.
He and Percy have a bit of a rivalry, which Toby calls his "free entertiainemnt". They stop bickering to team up against other people though, and once they faced off in a table tennis match against Henry and Gordon when the later two got a bit too snotty about a documentary filmed on the ranch that showcased the two managing the Express.
Thomas and Percy won that one, by the way. Thomas got lucky and Percy was just good at table tennis.
Thomas is really into fishing, and he and Henry occasionally use their off days to go deep-sea fishing. It's a good bribe in Thoams' books, especially if he says he'll pay the fees for the both of them. Duck likes those days because he gets to make seafood for dinner, and he likes to hear their adventures.
Thoams also has a bit of a jealousy streak, which creeps up when it looks like someone might take his favored job of showing visitors around due ranching style. Ryan, Percy, Toby, "Diesel", Rosie, and Daisy have all been victims of the green-eyes Thomas, though by the time brothers Charlie and Billy come around it's simmered down a little (read: Charles Topham Hatt finally pulls him aside and gets it improperly into his head that no one's going to take his horses or his tour route, please stop antagonizing everyone you meet-)
He plays the sax, guitar, and trumpet. One of these is less appreciated then the others by the ranch hands
He had a prank war with Gordon back when Thomas was the ranch's cook (and stablehand because everyone was overworked and multitasking). It ended when Gordon pretended not to notice poor Thomas was in the back of a hay cart Gordon was pulling and Thomas panicked because he doesn't like going as fast as Gordon decided to take his pace. Another reason he prefers guided tours- much more manageable speeds!
and of course, piccrews (not my art)

(headcanons; kita’s family) (don’t reblog!)
- shinsuke is the middle child of three children. his older sister, mei, is significantly older than her brothers, being fifteen years older than shinsuke. in comparison, shinsuke’s younger brother, yori, is four years younger than him.
- shinsuke’s family when he was growing up was a little bit... broken up in places - or rather, circumstancially distant. mei moved out of the house at the age of eighteen, when she graduated highschool. after one failed semester at a university in tokyo, she moved abroad, following her rather wild and adventurous nature wherever the wind would take her. shinsuke was only three at the time, and yori wouldn’t be born for another year.
- when yori was born, shinsuke took his older brother role rather seriously - perhaps a little too seriously? already an old soul trapped in a body younger than his years, shinsuke cared deeply about his little brother, but struggled to follow him into his games and play. he did, however, always encourage yori’s precocious creative side. years later, yori would credit his older brother for his successful career in the arts.
- when shinsuke started middle school, he moved into his grandmother’s house, which was much closer to the school than his parents’. he and yumie had always gotten along splendidly, and shinsuke had virtually no objection to the matter.
- when shinsuke turned thirteen, his father received a promotion at work, and a proposal that was difficult to refuse. however, this new job would require him, and his family, to move to korea. concerns arose because of shinsuke who, since he was a little boy, had always shown some resistance and anxiety to drastic changes. after length discussions among the family members, it was decided that yumie (who didn’t want to leave japan) would take care of shinsuke until he graduates from highschool. he permanently moved in with his grandmother, and his parents and yori moved to korea. incidentally, mei joined them a few months later. the kita family was thus split between korea and japan, with yumie and shinsuke being the only ones left in hyôgo.
- as a result, shinsuke only... distantly knows his siblings, really. he did not grow up with them, and they did not grow up with him. they did videocall regularly when shinsuke was in middle and highschool, and messaged each other regularly - mei even travelled to japan regularly in a bid to visit her brother and grandmother, and they all get along well, but when shinsuke looks at the miya twins? he can see the difference.
- shinsuke and his grandmother are very close. she essentially raised him, and he refuses to consider a future where he does not take care of her in her old age. in some ways, they are best friends - they have been a team for too long for it to change now.
- yumie lives on the farm with shinsuke. she lives in a small guest house near the main house so that she can retain her independence and shinsuke can enjoy his as a young adult. yumie is very independent and knows pretty much everyone in the village (arguably she is even more popular than shinsuke is).
- when yori graduated from highschool, he came to hyôgo to spend a few months on the farm while figuring out what he wanted to do with his life. this gave him and his brother the opportunity to reconnect, and they have remained quite close since. after leaving the farm, yori moved to tokyo and eventually became a successful music composer in the film and tv industry.
- the first and only time shinsuke left japan was to visit mei in thailand, where she moved after getting restless in korea. he spent a few weeks there, and felt like he was finally getting to know his older sister, and vice versa. to this day, they call each other every week, and mei visits once a year. as of 2022, she is a professional diving instructor and happily married. the last time sh called shinsuke was to tell him he would, before the end of the year, become an uncle.

Could we please get some relationship headcanons for Bonney, Hancock and Perona with a gender neutral s/o?
yes you can! also thank you for requesting perona that’s my favorite girl, and i love bonney and hancock sm💗
Relationship head canons for Bonney, Boa & Perona with a gender neutral S/O.
Tumblr media
Bonney
when looking for an S/O, she wants some one to please her appetite with many delicious meals.
the two of you met at an restaurant ironically. you were the head chef, and she fell in with you along with your cooking.
from there you joined her crew and her wild lifestyle.
after a hard day of being a pirate, Bonney just wants to wind down and have a snack before she embarks on her next journey.
so when she finds you with a dish in hand, a bottle of chilled wine waiting for her and hot bath already drawn to her liking, she instantly melts and covers you with kisses.
when you wake up from your slumber, don’t be surprised to see her cuddle up next to you, she enjoys the warmth from your body.
the day she got kidnapped by black beard, she wasn’t too worried and neither were you. Cause once she saw you approach the dark dark fruit user, she knew he was going to get his ass handed to him.
she loved how you were able to handle her temper and not get upset at her outbursts, you accept her for who she is. that’s why she loves you so much.
Tumblr media
Boa
the empress of the kuja pirates never truly understood what true love meant, that is until she met you.
you came across her island after your shipped got wrecked and you lost touch of your crew.
although you were seen as an outsider at first, the kuja’s warmed up to you and so did their empress.
she found you mysterious in a good way and she need to know more about you. during the nights on the island, the two of you would converse about the things you saw as a pirate, but there was something she left out as she spoke.
when she told you about the marking on her back, she was afraid you would judge her, but when she felt your lips kiss the permanent reminder of who she once was; all her worries went away. from there on, she wanted to be with you.
Boa is definitely the clingy type, which you have no problem with. She wants lots of kisses and her weakness is having her hair stroked as she hugs you.
She loves cooking for you, mostly sweets, but she has no problem giving you a full course meal.
During the times when she’s not being a pirate, she shows you her true self. She likes to have picnics with you, or even something as simpler as reading a book in bed together.
Anything with you, she enjoys.
Tumblr media
Perona
now she’s a feisty one.
Perona was playing hard to get when the two of you started to become acquainted.
she would call you names and use her devil fruit to toy with you, but you didn’t mind it one bit. you knew it was her love language and that’s what drew you two together.
The title princess is something she makes sure is known, but that fades away when she’s with you. She becomes your queen.
She knows you’re different from everyone else she’s interacted with and that’s what attracted her to you.
Perona loves gifts and she loves giving them to you. She would start off with giving you cute little heartfelt gifts, but as your relationship progresses they change to her giving you animal zombies she had Moria make for you.
Perona’s mood tends to change a lot, so if she’s being kind of bratty, don’t be afraid to call her name and look her in the eyes. That’s how she knows she needs to tone it down a little. Except when a person truly deserves it, then you let the Ghost Princess do what she pleases.
She loves kisses, especially on her temple and on her left chest. She calls it a brain kiss and a heart kiss.
You two love going on adventures, but if the two of you come across a bug, just be ready for some tears. You’ll need to calm her down with some kisses and reassurance that the bug is either gone or dead.

Darth Marr and Satele Shan:  Names and Priorities
I’ve reached the point in my Yavin fic that I’m starting to use Marr’s POV on occasion.  One of the things I’ve been chewing on (likely to the annoyance of others) has been the Marr-Satele-Theron dynamic during the Yavin 4 op.  It’s clear that Satele and Marr have put aside differences and have become friends (as much as a Force ghost and a self-exiled Jedi Master can be friends) by Chapter 12 of KotFE.
I give credit to @swtorpadawan for posting about Satele on Yavin 4 a few months ago and being willing to have continued discourse about the post -- thank you.  In comments and reblogs, there’s been discussion about how to interpret Satele’s references to Theron during the op and her motivations for why she does this.
This is a spin-off of that post, since I’ll be focusing more on the dynamic between Marr and the Shans instead of Theron and Satele.
During the Yavin op, Theron is consistently referred to as Theron, not as Agent Shan or as Shan.  The issue of his last name is avoided.   A few people (including me) have the headcanon that ‘Shan’ is a common name in the galaxy, like Smith or Patel or Garcia would be on our world; two people named Shan does not a family connection make, necessarily.  It would explain why Theron doesn’t have a code name (though he jokingly? complains about it on first meeting).
And yet, Satele avoids using the name in reference to Theron.  So does Marr.  And Theron doesn’t insist on being referred to by his last name, even though his peer, Lana Beniko, is referred to as ‘Beniko’ by Marr. (Satele never addresses Lana using her name.)
Why the dance?
Honestly, when I try to reverse-engineer dev!logic, in terms of the game design for Yavin 4, I’d guess it was done to help the player differentiate between Grand Master Shan and Agent Shan.  And maybe that’s all it is: calling Theron “Theron” just keeps the player from getting confused, especially if the player isn’t a Jedi and doesn’t know Satele; and/or skipped the Forged Alliances quests and thus doesn’t know Theron.
Within the universe, however, what’s an explanation a player can come up with?
The Spies in Question
Theron’s name was broadcast across the galaxy as a wanted man for killing Colonel Darok.  He was to be apprehended on sight, but Theron was a spy; spy agencies to this day rarely let any images of their active duty agents be circulated, even if they do go rogue or defect to the other side.  Theron’s image in direct connection to his name and job as SIS agent would be on a need-to-know basis.  This has led me to headcanon that Director Trant was well-aware of Theron going off the grid; in fact, he aided and abetted it.
Lana, on the other hand, was a known member of the Sphere of Military Offense.  She commanded troops on Hoth.  She had a known face, and there was an Imperial bounty contract on her head, per Theron at Manaan.  If anything, Lana was in as much danger as Jakarro; someone could try to claim the bounty on her head, since the bounties weren’t lifted til the end of the Yavin op.
And yet, Theron’s name was the unspeakable one.
Satele and Theron
As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, I feel that the dynamic between Theron and Satele is not that of son and mother; both of them have gotten past that decision.  Rather, it’s more similar to a child who was given up for adoption looking for some sort of acknowledgement from his birth family -- it’s not love.  It’s not approval.  It’s.... complicated.  Acknowledgement of existence.  Acknowledgement that the decision had impact on Theron well beyond his first year of life.  Acknowledgement that Satele hurt Jace.
I’ve interpreted Theron’s bristling at the use of the term “my agent” to be more directed at the possessiveness of the word, yet how far apart they still are, despite the biological connections.  Technically, Yavin 4 was the first time they worked on an op together.  This was their first professional collaboration.  They haven’t seen each other socially, they can’t talk about their issues/relationship/whatever.....and they have to save the galaxy together.
Giving up Theron doesn’t mean Satele felt nothing. She privately struggles with what she did and how it turned out -- still does, based on 6.2.   However, she, like Jace and Theron, believe in serving the cause at great personal cost.  Seeing Theron beat to hell after Rishi bothered her -- it would bother anyone with any sense of compassion (which she does have).  Theron got the beatdown he did because he was taken by the Revanites.  Revan attempted to convince Theron to join him on Yavin 4 by invoking the idea that they are flesh and blood -- family.
Pretty sure Revan wasn’t talking about the Malcom side.  Satele knew that.  Was there a sense of protectiveness for Theron because of what happened immediately before Yavin 4?  I think so, yes, but it’s not motherly.
Theron’s experience on Rishi probably made Satele hyperaware that if Theron was of interest to the Revanites, then the Empire would doubly interested in Theron if they knew that he was not only an heir of Revan, but that the Grand Master of the Jedi Order was his biological mother.   Referring to him as “my agent” may be Satele’s way to avoid using any part of his name on Yavin 4.
I’m willing to bet, regardless of any efforts to ignore or conceal Theron’s name, that Marr quickly figured out that the agent who managed to outfox Revan, resist torture, get Marr’s attention, and unravel an intergalactic conspiracy was something special to the Republic.  Odds were that this agent had acted against the Empire.
Marr would be interested.
The History of Darth Marr and Satele Shan
Prior to Yavin 4, Marr and Satele had most recently squabbled over Makeb in the Hutt Cartel expansion through their various operatives.  When Marr saw Satele on the Imp side Battle of Rishi, he bowed.  He respected her and she respected him.  I didn’t get any other impression from their interactions. They saw each other as equals, though on rival sides; that creates tension, since a fight between them would be a draw or mutually assured destruction.  It’s highly likely they fought against each other in the previous Galactic War (which I’ll talk about below).
Marr was born in 3702 BBY, Satele in 3699 BBY.  They’re about the same age, and they ascended almost equally quickly when the Sith returned in 3681 -- Satele is 18, Marr is 21.  I have spoken about how Satele and Jace (who seems to be somewhere between 16 and 20 in the trailer) were essentially just kids when the conflict started.  So was Marr.
The big difference, in terms of how their characters are constructed, is that we have the end product of Marr.  Period.  We don’t know what his name was before he took on the name ‘Darth Marr.’  We know nothing about his family, his relationships, his struggles.  As Marr said later to the player in KotFE, he wanted to be a symbol to the Empire.  Marr did not let himself be just a man.
Darth Marr is not the singular leader of the Sith.  Marr is the head of the Sphere of Defense of the Empire for decades, and as of the Battle of Corellia and the death of Darth Decimus, he also becomes the head of the Sphere of Military Strategy.  With 2 of Military Spheres in his grasp, Marr was the de facto leader of the armed forces of the Sith Empire.  The Sphere of Military Offense passed from Baras to Arho and then to Arkous after Ilum.  When Arkous is killed by the player’s character, there is no indication as to who was the next head; that Sphere is never spoken of again in-game.  We may assume Marr took hold of that.  Either way, he has become the de facto leader of the Sith Empire.  His voice, his robes and mask -- immediately recognizable to the whole galaxy.
The creators of content for SWTOR took the opposite approach to Satele. We can read about how her mother Tasiele was forced into exile when Satele was still a child.  We meet Satele at 18 in a SWTOR trailer during the first Sith incursion at Korriban.  We see her in comics fighting against the Empire.  We see her at the Battle of Alderaan against Malgus.  In Annihilation,we see bits and pieces of her falling in love with Jace Malcom and hoping she doesn’t get too attached... until a pair of permanent complications occur in 3667 BBY:   Jace was severely maimed in the Battle of Alderaan, and Satele got pregnant.  Jace’s injuries made him a much harder person than the soldier Satele met in 3681 BBY; he scared her with his hatred of the Empire.
I’ll take a moment here to say that Satele wasn’t dumb or naive when she made the decision about Theron.  Satele was at least 32 years old, possibly 33 by the time Theron was born in 3666 BBY. She wasn’t a teen having a knee-jerk “oh noes, he’s evil” moment.  She had been in a constant state of war for 15 years when she got pregnant.   It’s in that context that Satele was concerned that Jace’s hatred could drag their child to the Dark Side... but also, Satele’s love for her child would make it impossible for her to serve the Republic without a second thought.  She couldn’t fight and die for the Republic if she was always preoccupied with coming home to her baby.
So she let Theron go.  She had other adventures.  She was at the Treaty of Coruscant.  Satele founded Tython.  She became the Grand Master of her order.
We don’t get any of that pathos or glory with Marr.   Marr IS.  Marr is the Empire. He is the best of them.  He has been, is, and will be.
The odds are pretty good that Marr and Satele met each other in combat, directly or indirectly. The bow on Imp side Rishi is a big thing for me that points to that.  Also, look at their responsibilities during the last war.  Marr was responsible for not only defending Korriban and what would become the Imperial core, but also any gains the Sith made over time against the Republic.  That’s the job of the Sphere of Defense of the Empire; taking planets was somebody else’s rodeo, not Marr’s.  His job was to defend... something the Imperial people living on these planets would love him for.  He was their protector against brutish Republic troops and their systemic corruption.
Satele was responsible for winning those territories back; we see her on counter-strikes against the Sith.  Satele is cast as the liberator of people imperiled by the spreading Sith Empire, not a conqueror taking new territory.  Marr probably had to defend against Satele at least once in their careers, possibly multiple times.  If she was absent from the front lines for any period of time, Marr would have noticed; he had to anticipate the next move of Republic counterstrikes as part of his job.
And indeed, Satele was absent for an extended period.  How long Satele was absent from the battlefield due to her pregnancy, we don’t know. Satele did continue her battlefield duties for “months” after she found out.  The only information we have about post-partum Satele is that she stopped visiting Baby Theron at 6 months old, according to Lost Suns.  I don’t think she could just skip off at random while in command, so I think she probably was off the battlefield at least 10 months (last 4 months of her pregnancy, 6 months post-partum), possibly as long as 18 months, since Gnost-Dural reports she was assigned to duty with the Republic Navy at some point in 3665 BBY.  She did give birth on a random planet in a cave, so she didn’t exactly have the best medical care immediately.  Maybe there were complications. Maybe she did show early. We don’t know.
Regardless of the timeline, Marr would have been paying attention.  Marr would have noticed when Satele Shan stopped fighting for the Republic.  Where was she?  What was she doing?  Was this part of a greater plot by the Republic?  What were they planning?  And when Satele did return, he may well have wondered what she had been up to.  But no matter; she had returned.  Marr had to be ready.
There’s no obvious indication in the game as to when Marr figures out Satele and Theron are mother and son.  He makes no comment to indicate that he knew before Rishi.  Based on Marr’s dialogue in game on the Imperial side, he heavily suggests that he knows who Theron is by the time Iven, the former commandant of the Imperial Guard, is taken into custody and it’s time to interrogate him. Satele objects to Marr’s plans to torture Iven.  “And what do you think your agent has done in the Republic’s name?” is Marr’s response.
The delivery of ‘your agent’ is indicative that Marr knows.
Theron himself stated at the end of the Imp side romance that if he was indeed recruited by the player to join the Empire, people would be suspicious that he’d be working for his mother.  That would have to include Darth Marr.
Personally, I would guess that the after-action reports from Lana and Theron would have some clues for Marr.  However, once Theron had healed up from the Rishi events, Marr may well have taken one look at Theron standing next to Satele, and then had an epiphany so immense it gave him a headache that Lana felt across the compound.  There’s the answer.  That’s why she disappeared for almost two years, twenty-nine years ago. Theron Shan.
(According to Jace in Annihilation, Theron has some similar features to his mother. He doesn’t specify which ones.)
The Lie of Omission
A lie of omission is permitting an inaccuracy or a falsehood to continue to circulate without correction, even though the person knows the truth. (In contrast, a lie of commission is when you actively make something up or contribute to the lie -- you commit the act lying.)  Marr signals he knows who Theron is by the time Iven is retrieved from the Imperial Guard training facility on Yavin, but he never says the name Theron Shan out loud.   It’s simply “the agent” “your agent” or “Theron.”  But not Agent Shan.
The use of “Theron” in the Pubside story is most eyebrow-raising.
Marr calls people by their titles. Marr always keeps professional distance.  Underlings are uniformly referred to by their titles.  Lana doesn’t like titles, so Marr doesn’t refer to her as Lord Beniko or Darth whatever;  it’s just Beniko.
Calling someone by their first name is highly irregular.  He does not refer to Satele as such until 6.2 (and that might be the Socratic Problem of Marr in the player’s memory rather than the real Marr).  It’s always Grand Master or Grand Master Shan. In a unique instance in the game, Marr calls Theron by his given name when he finds the Imperial Guard’s buildings in ruins during the Pubside story:  “But given the destruction Theron describes, it’s mostly likely a distress call.”  This is before the Pub operative annoys Marr by going to the Imperial Guard facility by themselves; it’s not said in anger or in irritation.  It’s said under ‘normal’ circumstances (if circumstances on Yavin are normal at all).
But why?  Why not “Agent Shan”?  That would differentiate him from Grand Master Shan.  Just referring to the pair as Grand Master and Agent would work too; how many Grand Masters and SIS Agents are running around on Yavin 4?  Why is Marr avoiding attention to the man’s last name?
And why doesn’t Marr hop on this and use it to the Empire’s advantage?
Pragmatism and Prioritization
Marr is not a Jedi.  Marr doesn’t do things for the greater good.  He does things for the Sith Empire and for the people of the Sith Empire.  Offing Theron Shan?  Definitely on the agenda.  So is killing Satele, eventually.
But not now.  Not on Yavin 4.
Marr is probably the person closest to knowing what Revan is going to try to do in order to make the Emperor take physical form again so he can kill him.  It’s going to involve a lot of dead people.  That can easily happen; up until this tiny fragile cease fire between Marr and Satele, the Empire and the Republic have been engaged in a hot war. When they first make camp on Yavin, there is a real possibility they’ll frag each other regularly.  This is why players have to do daily quests, in theory -- to build good will between the factions.
My partner is a military nerd and a Star Wars nerd.  He watched both version of the Battle of Rishi.  His conclusion:  based on the ships we see, Marr had more than twice the number of troops that Satele did (I put the numbers in my Yavin 4 fic).  The Imperial troops, at Marr’s word, probably could wipe out the Republic forces on Yavin 4, pack up, and head back to Dromund Kaas in time for tea.
But they won’t.  Marr wouldn’t permit it.
He knows how dangerous the Emperor is, and if he does let his troops kill the Pubs, they feed him. There also appears to be some sort of weird mystical thing going on with Revan’s bloodline.  Revan knew highly personal information about Theron (and Theron says so when the player opens the temple later on); somehow, Theron was able to use that connection to get Revan to give up Yavin 4 and secure an invite there at the end of the Rishi op.
Marr knows about this.  Marr doesn’t know what Revan would do if Marr did kill Theron or Satele, plus there’s the more predictable possibility that the Republic would respond to the death of Satele Shan thanks to the Jedi feeling it through the Force.  Chancellor Saresh would not let that opportunity pass by, even if it did feed the Emperor; we saw that at Ziost.
Grand Master Shan is a public figure.  Her name and her power is obvious to everyone in the Yavin camp.  Theron, however, is everything his mother is not.  He is a spy.  His face is not known to the general public.  His work is secret, his exact abilities unknown.
Sure, the last name is common enough....
But Theron and Satele have never worked together before.  They’ve never operated in such close proximity before.  Yavin 4 would be the first time all the pieces could fall into place to someone observant.  Marr is many things, but one of the things he really gets annoyed about in regard to the Sith is their arrogance.  They get such fat heads that they can’t see obvious danger or they overlook aliens and non-Force Sensitives to their own detriment.
Marr isn’t arrogant.
He doesn’t think he’s the only one who can see a family similarity or sense some connection between them.  Saying someone’s name is a powerful thing; we get upset when someone screws up our name.  It’s how our attention is attracted.  Shared last names of interesting people attract attention.  Attention leads to distraction away from the primary goal of stopping Revan and the Emperor.
That’s something Marr doesn’t want to deal with right now.  Revan and Emperor now.  The Shans later.  He avoids referring to Theron as “Shan” so as to reduce any chance that some young Sith will attempt to make their bones killing Theron, since that would spell doom for the Empire, whether through Revan’s anger or the Republic’s revenge.  It would also help empower the Sith Emperor to retake physical form, which is the last thing Marr wants him to do.
Exposing the Grand Master as having a secret son would remove an ally from the field for Marr; Marr doesn’t want to destroy his assets before he’s used them to their full ability.  There’s no point in burning Satele Shan on Yavin 4 before Revan is dealt with.
...And Marr respects her.  It’s a cheap way to win against a rival he knows to be his equal.
Marr wants to end Revan and the Emperor now, in that order, to defend the people of the Empire.  He’ll worry about the Shans later.  Marr will let Theron’s last name be overlooked and unmentioned, if only because it makes his job as Defender of the Empire less complicated for a few months.

Thanks again to @swtorpadawan and also @inyri @shabre-legacy @theniveanlegacy for discussing the original post about Satele and Theron and making me think about this.
Headcanon Postface:
This last bit is purely my headcanon ideas about Marr, so you can leave here if you so desire. I’m placing them here rather than making a separate post and having to link back to this one.
As I’ve described previously, we have the finished product of Darth Marr, with none of the personal insight that was provided for Satele Shan.  Who’s under the mask?  Nobody knows, really.  His first comic book adventure takes place in 3678, when he’s about 24 years old.  There’s nothing about his life beforehand that would let the player wonder how his past life affected his current decisions.  Marr ultimately would do the best he could for the Empire, regardless, but knowing if he ever hesitated, ever had second thought, had a regret -- that would make him mortal.
And Marr is an icon, not a man, in the grander SWTOR universe, per the writers. That’s the point driven home to the player.  So that leaves it to fan fic to take off the mask or not.
In “The Planter of Trees and Other Tales from Yavin 4,” Marr comes to this conclusion about the Shans’ relationship after observing two Shan chins.  He then alludes to understanding Satele’s decision to conceal Theron’s existence.
After Marr had gained his seat on the Dark Council (late 3680s, early 3670s), a lot of Sith families wanted him to add to their prestige. The man needed a legacy; he needed heirs.  Marr had already set himself on his path, however; he understood that it was better to be an icon.  If Marr was a normal man, he would be weakened by family connections, love, protectiveness, concern for his personal future.  Instead, Marr’s devotion to the Empire was unmatched and pure.  In the public’s eye, he was the great defender. He was the perfect Sith.
Marr never did have a public wife or a political marriage. His private life -- better secured than Imperial state secrets -- produced a  daughter that did not inherit her talents from her Force-Using parent.  Marr had been relieved that his daughter was not like him.  It meant she would never be pressured to come into public life. It meant she was free of the burden of his legacy.
Lately, I’ve considered that, regardless of having access to the Force or not, a child of Marr was always in danger of becoming a pawn.  She was something Marr’s enemies could use against him, if they ever found out about her; being Force-Null simply meant that others could not detect her as easily. That may have also have been a concern of Satele in regard to Theron, especially as she rose through the ranks of the Jedi Order.  As soon as Marr could let his daughter fly away from Dromund Kaas, he did.  She was free.
She died shortly before the Sack of Coruscant.  Marr did not go to her. The Empire had to matter more.  That doesn’t mean he didn’t love her.  He just never could prioritize her over the Empire.
In my fic universe, Marr understands Satele’s choices.  He can keep his mouth shut.  For now.
Theron is far more dangerous to the rival faction than Marr’s daughter ever was, however; he is an active player in the war, while she... just got caught in the middle, in the end....
Revan and Emperor now.  Shans later.

Since you like Luz and Camilla's bond and since it's Luz appreciation week, would you give some headcanons you have about how they interact after Camila finds out about the isles?
I don’t remember when this was sent but it’s certainly not Luz appreciation week anymore lol
But imma still answer it because I love Camilla Noceda
Luz, for the first time probably in Camilla’s presence, picks her words very carefully. I think she’s relieved beyond belief that she’s in her mother’s arms again, but then once the initial reunion is done, Camilla puts her hands on her hips and Luz just sorta shrinks and laughs nervously because what do you even say????
I think it’s a lot of culture shock for Camilla at first too; much like Luz jumping at every little thing when she first arrived, Camilla is on edge 24/7 even with her daughter explaining how things work. How no, there’s nothing wrong with that demon, he just is a sentient slime and is totally chill. Or yeah, that demon does like eating the flesh of the living, but like, only if you piss them off, so just leave them be and you’ll be fine. Camilla has to keep her head in like, Emergency Nurse Mode in order to remain calm and not scream at everything (she still screams at a lot of things).
Camilla is mostly just overwhelmed I think? So Luz takes things super slow. As much as she would love to just tell her mom everything, she knows this is already a lot after not knowing if they’d ever see each other again. So I think Luz just sorta...sprinkles in new information into conversation. She DOES tell her about Hexside though because Luz has never loved school so much before and she knows her mom would love to hear about that.
I think it takes at least a week or so for Camilla to like. Get used to the Demon Realm in general? And after that point Luz starts telling her more stories of the adventures she’s gone on and magic she’s learned how to do. And don’t get me wrong, every single story makes Camilla want to just take her baby back to the Human Realm and lock her in the house so she’s never in danger like this again, but she’s also seeing how much Luz has grown; how much more mature she seems, how grounded she’s become, and it’s all this growth that makes Camilla see how much this world has helped Luz. So she holds her tongue as she watches her baby girl gush about everything she’s done and learned, because she looks so happy. And Luz was happy in the Human Realm too, but it wasn’t nearly this happy. Her happiness in the Human Realm was always tinted with a hint of apprehension, an underlying sense of resignation at the expectation of not being accepted by her peers.
I can’t remember which post it was, but I know I said previously that for the first few weeks, Camilla absolutely despises Eda. Any time Eda throws her two cents in to a story Luz is telling, Camilla just glares at her with a sort of murderous look that makes Eda pause and go silent again. Camilla has the right to be angry, sure, Eda should’ve sent Luz home the moment Luz showed up in the Demon Realm. But, she also gave her a place to sleep and food and knowledge and a familial love that Luz treasures. She’s given experiences that really shook Luz up overall (like facing Adaghast and Piniat), but allowed her to learn how to separate fantasy from reality. At least, in private conversation Luz explains as much, but now Camilla just wants to be petty because she never thought she’d see her baby again after she discovered Luz never went to camp. And to find out she’d been under Eda’s care this whole time? Oh Camilla wishes she could just throttle that woman’s neck for not bringing her baby back to her sooner.
Luz I think is mostly just scared that her mom won’t accept this new life Luz has made for herself. She’s on edge for as long as her mom is on edge and is only able to relax when she sees her mom start to get used to her surroundings. The apprehension is always there, just sort of simmering in the background, at least until the day she comes back to the Owl House after an outing with Lilith and sees Eda and her mom having a civil conversation. And not just civil, they actually look like they’re enjoying each other’s company ?? Camilla’s petty grudge against Eda seems to have completely vanished in the time Luz was out with Lilith and now they’re chatting like they’re best friends. That’s when Luz finally lets out the metaphorical breath she’d been holding this whole time. Her family, both versions of it, aren’t at odds anymore.
It still takes a lot of talking between them for Camilla to really accept the reality of it all. Luz will always be her baby, that will never change, but it’s hard to watch Luz grow up and make her own life-changing decisions and put herself in dangerous situations. Camilla has to remind herself to put herself in Luz’s shoes and really think about why Luz is so much happier.
I don’t know how this compromise shakes out tbqh. I’d like to imagine they have to sit down and really discuss what Luz wants to do next. Because as much as Luz loves the Demon Realm, is it actually what she wants? Does she really want to only live in the Demon Realm? She’s still a kid; opinions change as you age. I think they find a sort of compromise with Luz agreeing to be “home-schooled”. She needs to finish her human education before she devotes herself entirely to life in the Demon Realm. That way, at the very least, if Luz decides at some point in the future that she wants to go back to the Human Realm more permanently, she’ll at least have her GED under her belt. Luz is only hesitant because she’s already got so much work as the only All-Track student at Hexside, but that’s a better compromise than being forced to leave the Demon Realm and start attending Human school again.
Camilla’s seen her fair share of kids coming into the hospital with concerned parents, she’s attended to some of them personally and discovered they were in because the child was suffering from debilitating amounts of stress. She knows it can be hard. She was learning how to raise her own baby when she was still in school after all. She gets it. But she insists that Luz at least finish human high school online; she can get tutoring if need be, but she is not just dropping her entire life to go pursue life in the Demon Realm. Not on her watch. She’s going to make damn well sure that her baby is prepared for life in either Realm.
So Camilla rolls up her sleeves and gets to work; she formally pulls Luz out of public school and starts researching online schools with flexible schedules. She makes sure Eda is in on this plan too; she will NOT be making Luz work for her potions business OR Human Collectibles stand unless absolutely necessary (as in, Eda and Lilith are both unable and they are in dire need of funds and only Luz knows how to Turn That Profit™️). If Luz is caught up on ALL her school work and wants to chip in on Eda’s businesses, then yes, she can go, but not until then. Eda’s sort of sour about that (she’d never admit it in a million years but she loves having Luz at her stand; having company is nice and with the whole No Magic thing, they’ve been spending their downtime studying and practicing glyphs) but she lets out an over dramatic groan and agrees. (Luz, somehow, in what little downtime she has nowadays, draws up actual lesson plans for Eda to go over on the weekends when she can’t join her at the Human Collectibles stand. Eda adores them because 1) holy shit, her apprentice is so fucking talented, look at her GO and 2) Luz adds??? All sorts of cute encouraging notes??? In the margins of her lesson plans???? And little doodles too and it’s Eda’s favorite part. It’s almost like Luz is there with her going over the lessons with her goofy commentary).
On Camilla’s days off she’ll head over to the Demon Realm and help Luz with her (human) homework to the best of her ability; she knows it’s hard and Luz has a lot of stuff on her plate, so she helps her calm down her overwhelmed ADHD brain by helping her sort out what work she has and organizing it all into Doable Piles. Whenever she helps Luz with her homework, it’s all peppered with stories of various things Luz and her friends did that week. Camilla always uses that to her advantage; the more she learns about the things that are exciting to Luz, the more ammo she has in making her Human Homework more interesting. She’ll use analogies to Luz’s stories to make whatever homework thing relatable and will hide a sneaky smile whenever she sees Luz’s eyes light up with interest/recognition. She knows how her baby’s brain works: Luz will only do the homework if it interests her. If it relates to her friends? Sure fire method of getting homework done.
My brain has been absolute mush in the last like, month?????? So I apologize for how late this is ! But thank you so much for the ask, I love Luz and Camilla’s relationship, you’re so right. <3333

FP//you are summer, to my winter heart
Request: if requests are open can i request a fp/reader where you show up once Gladys leaves cause he asks you to help take care of jughead and you two end up together?
hey! i decided to do this as a headcanon because i thought it would be easier to show the development. i hope you still like it!! title is from a poet called gemma troy! i liked it (even though winter is the superior season)
Tumblr media
- ‘she’s gone’
- It was the first words you heard when you walked through the front door.
- But you didn’t really need to be told
- You could just tell
- You’ve been in and out of the Jones household countless of times
- And every time you’ve walked in before...its been loud
- On good days when Jughead and Jellybean are playing
- Or bad days when Gladys has called you over to talk some sense into FP.
- You and Fred usually take it in turns to go over
- Either to talk to FP or to take the kids out for a few hours
- But on the 24th of February 2009, for the first time ever, the trailer was silent.
- You looked around, noticing the lack of kids toys, shoes and just general mess
- The lights were off, the curtains drawn and FP leaned against the kitchen counter, barely able to stand up properly.
- As soon as you saw him your heart dropped
- Your arms were around him instantly and he just let go
- His fingers gripping your jacket so tightly you thought he was going to rip a hole in it
- And he just cried
- He cried for what seemed like hours and you just stood there and held him
- Because what else where you supposed to do?
- He was your best friend
- Even if he did have his flaws
- Even if he did scream and shout for no reason
- Or pushed people away when he was too drunk to realize what he was doing
- You were always going to be there for him
- Because who else would be?
- Especially now
- When Jughead emerged from his bedroom, he smiled as soon as he saw you
- And you untangled yourself from FP
- ‘hey jug’ You’d said as cheerily as you could and he sent you a toothy grin back
- ‘y/n, what are you doing here?’
- ‘i came over to hang out with you’
- ‘can we go to the park’
- ‘of course we can. but you need your breakfast first...so what do you want?’
- ‘...pancakes?’ He’d asked nervously and you’d smiled and ruffled his hair
- ‘sure. why don’t you go watch some tv’
- He’d ran off before you even had the chance to finish your sentence
- And the action made you smile a little.
- It seemed he hadn’t noticed yet
- His family had fallen apart and he was worried about missing the Ninja Turtles
- Or if he had noticed it, it hadn’t sunk it properly
- ‘have you told him?’ You’d whispered to FP who just looked at the floor. ‘so no?’
- ‘no.’
- ‘okay.’ You nodded. ‘we’ll tell him together. later on.’
- ‘you don’t have to.’ He’d argued but you just sent him a look
- He’d grown used to that look, and by now he knew not to argue with it.
- ‘thank you’ The sincerity in his voice made you smile softly at him
- ‘but you have to do something for me’
- ‘what?’
- ‘sort your life out’
- And he did
- It took him a while
- And there were a few bumps mountains in the road
- But he eventually did it
- Nothing is ever as easy as they say though
- It was difficult at first
- What isn’t difficult about raising an 8 year old that isn’t yours
- And keeping one of your best friends sober after his wife left and took their daughter with her
- There was a lot of tears, shouting and slamming of doors
- And that was just from FP
- ‘you’re not my mom’ - jughead jones every single time he saw you for a week
- ‘we don’t need your fucking help y/n’ - fp jones every single time he saw you for a week
- But eventually you got the hang of things
- A routine was formed
- You’d drop Jughead off at school before going to work
- FP would pick him up on the way home
- Dinner would be timed perfectly for you coming home
- You’d help Jughead with his homework, always finding a way to make it fun
- You’d spend your evening watching movies either at home or at the drive in
- Or you’d spend hours arguing about what to watch
- Weekends would be spent at Pop’s, or the park or at the river
- And sometimes you’d drive to the beach and have a picnic
- Jughead would always insist that you had to tell him a story before sleep
- ‘because you do the best voices y/n’
- Sometimes you’d read them from books
- Other times they were made up (mostly)
- And FP would always stop outside of the room to listen in for a few minutes
- And when Jughead said he didn’t need a story anymore he was able to quickly put him to bed while you cried on the sofa
- He’d hugged you until the two of you fell asleep
- Only woken up by Jughead asking what was for breakfast
- Some stories he’d recognize from the years before Jughead and Jellybean were born
- They’d be from summers spent together going on adventures despite being in your twenties and thirties
- Others would have just elements of truth in them
- Like when you’d found a suitcase by the river
- But you managed to leave out the fact that it was empty apart from the blood splatter
- You replaced the blood with a portal to another world
- And all of them you made sound magic
- To both Jughead and FP
- And he’d be left wondering what he would ever do without you
- So he would come up with a plan to show just how much they appreciate you
- And so the 7th November was officially made Y/n’s day
- It was kind of like mothers day
- But not
- Jughead would make a Y/n’s day card
- FP would make breakfast for you and then you got to chose what to do for the rest of the day
- You’d also always get a present
- One made by Jughead and another bought by FP
- It was usually always small, but you loved it anyway
- And even after almost ten years, Jughead always still got you a card and FP always bought you a present.
- You’d practically moved in with them within the first year of it all happening
- Sleeping on the pull out sofa in the living room
- It wasn’t that bad after a while
- Although you will always blame it for the permanent sore back you have now
- And eventually everything felt semi-normal
- You were like a little family
- You’d go to parties of friends together
- And you and FP would rarely be seen apart
- Always sat or stood together, talking or laughing at something
- Sometimes and arm would be slung around your shoulder or waist
- New friends or neighbours of the trailer park assumed you to be a proper family
- Assumptions would always be met by awkward laughs and quick mutters of ‘we’re not a couple’
- Over time though you started to notice a change in the way they made you feel
- At first it was sort of funny and a little awkward
- But the more it happened the more you felt your chest tighten when you or FP denied it
- Until you found yourself not denying it, letting FP laugh it off every time
- But despite that small detail
- You worked well together
- Everything seemed to be going well
- Until it happened
- Until FP spiraled and you were left to pick up the pieces
- Looking after a now 15 years old Jughead while his father was in prison and his mom and sister were god knows where.
- Jughead was lost and you could tell
- What 15 year old wouldn’t be
- So you made sure he knew you weren’t going anywhere
- You were always there when he woke up in the morning or came home from school
- You listened when he talked
- Whether it was about his novel or his friends
- And you reassured him his dad would be okay
- Even if he had been arrested for murder
- You’re still there for FP too
- Visiting as often as possible
- Even if you do give him the look every time you see him
- But you promise to help him
- And when he eventually gets out
- Your the first one to hug him
- Wrapping him up in a giant hug that makes both of you feel like you’re home
- Even more so when he hugs you back just as tightly
- Jughead coughs awkwardly and you pull apart
- You shuffle away from him
- Letting them have their own moment before taking them both to Pop’s
- Again it took a while
- But you got your routine back
- And everything went back to normal
- As normal as you can be when you live in Riverdale
- You supported Jughead when he wanted to join the serpents
- And you helped FP get his job so he could support the three of you
- Before his arrest there had been talk of you moving out
- Its not like Jughead needed you anymore
- Not really
- And FP was doing great
- But now, it looks like you were stuck sleeping in the living room still
- Jughead needed stability
- And you and FP needed each other
- It was never said out loud
- Never discussed
- Never so much as briefly mentioned
- But everyone knew the two of you needed each other
- The thought of moving out may have made your back happy
- But that was the only part of you that wanted to
- The rest of you didn’t know what you’d do without him
- And FP was absolutely terrified of the idea of not seeing you every day
- It made his chest tight and his head hurt
- So you stayed
- Until she came back
- Jughead went looking for his mom and sister
- Something you don’t blame him for
- You’d probably do the exact same thing
- But whenever Gladys is around
- There’s trouble
- She may be your friend but it doesn’t mean she doesn’t bring chaos wherever she goes
- Yes, she might have had her reasons to leave
- You don’t blame her for that
- What you do blame her is leaving one child while taking the other
- ‘well isn’t this cozy’
- The familiar voice makes you jump and you watch as FP stands up, eyes wide as he stares at his daughter and estranged wife
- Jughead is also just as shocked, hugging Jellybean tightly
- The ache in your chest returns, and this time no matter how hard you try it stays
- It stays all through the night
- And its still there by morning
- It follows you around wherever you go
- It seems no matter where you are in Riverdale
- Gladys and FP are there
- They both make your heart ache
- But both of them for different reasons
- And its not until you’re lying in bed
- Two weeks after Gladys turned up and essentially kicked you out
- Leaving you to quickly find a trailer to rent
- That you realize whats happened
- You’re in love
- But there’s nothing happy about it
- There’s no magic, sweetness or joy to it
- Its all yearning looks and gloomy thoughts
- Watching a family you used to be apart of from the outside
- She does what you used to
- She should, she is their mom and his wife
- But she’s missed 7 years of their lives
- Seven years that you’ve been there
- You held together, looked after and cleaned up the mess that she left behind
- And the worst thing is
- You know you’ll do exactly the same when she inventively leaves again
- You tried telling FP
- ‘you and gladys together does not work’
- But he just brushed it off
- Happy that his family was back together
- But he couldn’t shake the nagging feeling that something was missing
- Like when a photograph has been folded over
- He knows something’s not right
- He just can’t figure out what it is
- He can
- He knows exactly whats missing
- Its you
- But what’s he supposed to do?
- He can’t bring you back
- Gladys and Jellybean have come back
- They’re happy
- Or at least thats what they’re trying to be
- But there’s a massive crack down the middle of this family
- And there’s not enough glue to fix it
- Its just a matter of waiting
- Waiting for the inevitable to happen
- No matter how much he wills it not to
- Jughead and Jellybean are happy
- Gladys is happy
- But he isn’t so sure its because of him
- And to an extent he’s happy too
- He has his kids back
- He’s got a great job
- And eventually a house
- Even if it is the Coopers
- But he can see you’re unhappy
- And he hates that
- He only ever wants to see you smile
- Its one of his favourite things
- Always has been now he thinks about it
- But he saw you at his party
- You were smiling
- But it wasn’t real
- And every time you see each other you send each other smiles
- But they never reach your eyes.
- Riverdale being Riverdale
- Crazy things always happen
- You hear of a Griffins and Gargoyles being played again
- And remember when you would play
- Remember what happened to your friends
- And to The Midnight Club
- FP telling you all about it one night after Jughead had gone to bed
- Those nights seem so far away
- You suppose they are really
- You make sure to tell Jughead to stay away from it
- Not wanting him to have to go through anything that you or his parents did.
- And then there’s the robbery at Pop’s
- And suddenly FP’s in hospital and you find yourself giving him the look when you visit him
- He smiles
- Despite the trouble and pain he’s in
- Because you being here eases both of those things
- It doesn’t last long though
- FP is arrested and you’re sent home
- Its not until a few days later do you find yourself walking into the Jones’ residence again
- ‘she’s gone’ FP says, sat at the dining table with his head in his hands
- ‘i know’ You say, sitting beside him and grabbing his hand.
- ‘have you come to say i told you so?’ He looks at you sadly and you just shake.
- ‘no. i’m here to help.’
- ‘thank you.’
- ‘what are friends for?’
- The word stings, but it needs to be said
- No matter how you feel about him
- You’re still his friend
- So you do what you do best
- You fix
- And after a while you have a routine again
- It takes a while
- But eventually everyone gets used to each other
- And its normal-ish
- You still listen to Jughead talk about his novel
- You’re the only person he really talks about it with
- And you help Jellybean with her homework
- You take her shopping at the weekend
- And listen to her when she tells you about whatever drama is going on in her class
- You and FP take it in turns to cook dinner
- The other one always washes up
- You still feel the ache in your chest every so often
- But it’s not as strong
- Because you see each other every day
- You’re back together
- Where you should be
- Even if it is platonic
- Well, up until he kisses you before you go home
- He walks you to the front door as usual
- Offering you a lift which you always politely decline
- And just as you’re about to leave
- He grabs your arm gently, spinning you around and kissing you softly
- It takes you by surprise
- Your eyes widen at first and he panics, starting to pull away
- But when you fingers grip his arms
- The dark fabric bunching together as you pull him closer
- And you kiss him back
- A lot more force that he had
- He knows he hasn’t messed up
- He knows he made the first right decision in about 7 years
- Because when your arms wrap around him he knows he’s home

elves of arda ✹ gondolindrim ✹ headcanon disclaimer ✹ @gondolinweek
Pendelótë was a Noldo of Valinórë, an architect and historian who learned from Quennar Onótimo and Rúmil. Though those mentors remained in Aman, Pendelótë was caught up in Fëanáro’s promises of freedom and adventure and joined in the Flight of the Noldor. Pendelótë marched across the Helcaraxë with the Host of Ñolofinwë, growing close to Princess Írissë, and often accompanied her on hunts and journeys when they arrived in Beleriand.           Still, Pendelótë did not have the same wanderlust as Írissë, and settled in Vinyamar to found a library and begin rebuilding the stores of knowledge lost in the journey to Middle-earth. At the Mereth Aderthad, Írissë introduced her friend to a lively group of Sindar who had given her the name Aredhel Ar-Feiniel. Among these folk were several edhel who were neither ellith or ellyn, and in meeting them Pendelótë realized that they also were neither nís nor nér. Emboldened by this discovery, they adapted their name to Penlod and embraced their new identity.           When Turukáno began to plan for his hidden kingdom, Penlod was one of the first elves he approached to aid him in building a city in the memory of Tirion-upon-Túna. Along with Turukáno himself, Penlod was the chief architect of Ondolindë, and oversaw the construction of many great towers and manors.           In Ondolindë, Penlod became the Lairde of the House of the Pillar. Among this House were many scholars, writers, historians, and architects, some of whose work survives to this day. The most renowned of these was Pengolodh, who at this time was but a young ellon serving under more established loremasters such as Evromord and Gilfanon. These three were responsible for the preservation of ancient writings, rescued from Gondolin’s fall, that make up the primary body of the history of the Elder Days.           Penlod was often in the company of Aredhel and her folk of the Tower of Snow. Though they were less fierce than those hunters, they enjoyed a good chase and spending time with their friends among that House. Thus, when Aredhel departed from Gondolin to visit her brother Fingon, she passed leadership of the Tower of Snow to Penlod to lead in her absence, anticipating she would return in a decade or two.            But Aredhel went not to Dor-lómin as her brother had instructed, instead turning toward Himlad where her friends Celegorm and Curufin dwelt. Along the way she was lost in the treacherous forest of Nan Dungortheb, and try though they might, her escort could not find her. They returned to Gondolin in sorrow, eventually Turukáno granted permanent leadership of his sister’s House to Penlod, and all of Gondolin mourned her as dead.           Thus great was their surprise and joy when Aredhel returned unlooked-for—and with a son! For a day there was feasting and merriment, welcoming the indomitable Lady of the Tower of Snow back home, but soon the celebrations were cut short upon the arrival of Aredhel’s wicked husband Eöl, who when faced with the King’s decree that he may not leave Gondolin, slew his wife and was slain in turn.           Though its Lady perished, the House of the Tower of Snow endured under Lairde Penlod’s leadership. They were still bound to their duties as the Lairde of the Pillar, but they were well-liked by the folk of the Tower of Snow and delegated responsibility to their deputies in a manner that pleased everyone.           Though Penlod was not an active military commander, they did lead their Houses to the Fifth Battle and acted as an organizer behind the frontlines. When the battle turned ill, they fought their way through the Gondolindrim’s retreat, returning to the hidden kingdom blind in one eye and with a third of the Tower of Snow slain. The Pillar suffered less heavy losses, and set to work recording the events as soon as they were safe within the confines of the Echoriath.           Though many of the folk of the Pillar escaped the Fall of Gondolin, preserving much of the city’s history, Penlod themself perished in the fighting with their back to the wall, and all the remaining folk of the Tower of Snow were slain. Evromord, Gilfanon, and Pengolodh survived and continued their lairde’s work in the Havens of Sirion, where Pengolodh gathered tales and histories from the other kindreds there as well. When the War of Wrath came to a close, Evromord and Gilfanon, wearied by the sorrows of Middle-earth, sailed to Tol Eressëa, but Pengolodh joined the folk of High King Gil-galad and labored diligently in his historical records. Eventually Penlod themself would be reborn, and though they remembered Pengolodh as a cheeky youth, they would marvel at his work and express their pride that one of the House of the Pillar had made such an impact on the histories of Middle-earth.

Who's up for some wholesome (and slightly bittersweet) headcanons about Kaito's childhood toys? Plus Maki's and Shuichi's a little bit, too.
See, while I wasn't quite this kind of kid myself, I know that some kids took their toys Extremely Seriously and came up with imaginative, elaborate stories with them in which they were CHARACTERS who went on ADVENTURES and were AWESOME. And if anybody would absolutely have been that kind of kid, it's Kaito.
We already know from Kaito's FTEs that as a kid he had one hell of a wild imagination and spent his days playing games of incredibly elaborate make-believe, in which he'd go on exciting adventures and explore unknown realms. Sure, it seems that these games mostly featured himself in the starring role, but that doesn't necessarily rule out the possibility that some of his toys were involved as other characters in the stories. Perhaps he just doesn't mention them these days when recounting these tales because he has at least realised that that part is a little childish and harder to take seriously. Glossing over them is worth it to be able to keep presenting these adventures like they totally happened. (Of course he knows that no-one really thinks that, but it's still fun to be able to pretend!)
It especially makes a lot of sense that Kaito might have used his toys to fill in other roles in his make-believe adventures when you consider that he's actually not very good at making friends. One part in his second FTE appears to be very indirectly suggesting that he had a permanent falling-out with a kid who had been joining in his games, and other hints in Salmon Team indicate that Shuichi might be the first real friend he's ever had. So Kaito probably didn't have any close friends to share his games with for most of his childhood.
But he wouldn't have let that get him down! He can more than make up for that with his toys and his imagination!! He's not gonna let anything stop him and his imaginary friends from having the best adventures ever!!!
And, knowing Kaito? His toys were his SIDEKICKS. That... might actually have been the first instance of him starting to use that word a lot, before he then shifted into using it for real people whom he's doing his best to support.
Also, consider: his favourite toy was most likely one that was given to him by his parents, and... that's why it's still so special to him. It probably helped him cope with things when his parents had just died, serving as a source of comfort and good memories.
(Kaito's favourite toy could have been anything, really, so don't take what I drew it as here as a super well-founded and immovable part of my headcanon. A purple dog just seemed appropriate, since Kaito is both purple and, as Maki pointed out for us one time, basically a dog.)
So imagine a non-despair, non-fiction AU in which Kaito has been friends with Shuichi and Maki for a while. They're visiting Kaito's place, and they happen to find his favourite toy still sitting somewhere prominent in his room, because obviously Kaito would have wanted to hold onto it even though he hasn't actively played with it in years. When Maki notices and asks about it, he's partly kind of embarassed, but mostly indignantly defensive that of course he still kinda cares about his stuffed toy, who wouldn't?
But Maki's not trying to tease him. Since meeting Kaito, she's been making more of an effort to remind herself of the child she used to be - so upon seeing Kaito had a favourite toy, she just wants to hear more about it.
Kaito's eyes light up at this, and he eagerly launches into tales of the adventures they totally had together and how much of an awesome sidekick this toy was.
(Maki also knows well enough to word it "Who's this?" rather than "What's this?" when first asking about Kaito's toy. There were enough kids at her orphanage who would get very offended on behalf of their toys if someone older treated them like a thing and not a person, and she has this feeling that some small part of Kaito might still feel a little hurt if she does that with his old favourite toy.)
I don't imagine Maki herself was nearly as into her toys back then as Kaito was, especially because she had to grow up way too fast and be a surrogate parent to the younger kids. But I can believe that maybe there was one toy she played with quite a bit when she was younger and still remembers fondly. New toys wouldn't get bought for the kids at the orphanage very often; it's most likely the same ones in circulation, handed down from older kids to younger kids over and over. So Maki's favourite toy is probably still there at the orphanage right now, being loved just as much or even more by another kid. That's a comforting thought.
(Kaito encourages Maki to ask after it the next time she visits. She's dismissive about it, but she's totally going to.)
Meanwhile, though I don't quite see Shuichi as the type to come up with elaborate stories for his toys, he does seem the type to have had a toy that he was really attached to for longer than most kids do. His parents were never very there for him, after all, and that plus his anxious nature meant that the comfort from a favourite toy would have been a big help when he was younger. I imagine Shuichi was always a little embarassed and ashamed about this (and yet could still never bring himself to throw the toy away either) - but seeing Kaito being so unabashedly proud of the memories he has with his favourite toy would make Shuichi feel a little better about his own.
Upon hearing that Shuichi also had a favourite toy that he loved just as much as Kaito loved his, Kaito wants to be introduced sometime. In fact, his still-very-present inner child kind of wants their toys to meet each other, as silly as it is. All that time playing with his toys by himself, and only now does Kaito finally have an actual real best friend to share that with. It's a bit late by now, and really he knows he's rather too old for this any more, but, still. Just once. Just to imagine what could have been.
(Naturally, Kaito's toy would promptly adopt Shuichi's toy as his new sidekick.)

I decided to make playlists for Cathala and Tarinne plus explanations for why I chose each song because I entered one of those ADHD fugue states and if I didn't finish this task I would die
Anyway here are the two links (they're youtube playlists because I don't have spotify. I would obviously recommend using an adblocker if you're just gonna watch on youtube) and the explanations for each song are below the cut :) Each playlist is about an hour long.
For Tarinne’s:
1. Foggy Nights: I consider this her theme so putting it first as a sort of intro only makes sense.
2. Here’s a Health to the Company: I think this works as an example of her general disposition. She’s a people person, and always a fan of singing these sorts of songs in taverns, on ships, or what have you. It also kind of feels like a sendoff to soldiers, which I imagine symbolizes her joining the Sentinel Army and quickly thereafter fighting in the Third War.
3. Wartime Prayers: Somewhat self-explanatory, this is symbolizing her seeing war for the first time, but I also included it because the last line transitions SO WELL into the next song.
4. The Hollow: This song is an intro to an album I've never heard so I don't know the context, but I really love it because it sounds like someone praying to their deity and like I mean c'mon. Elune. Tarinne's praying to Elune to guide her through the war. Do I need to elabo-
5. Wave Walker: KILL DEATH MAIM AHAHAHAHA
6. Isil Elun’falo: Just a super rad fan-made night elf song that's basically "wow we sure do love Elune" said in twenty different ways for four and a half minutes. But it ROCKS and I LOVE it.
7. Chewing Cotton Wool: This song is about losing a loved one (I did have to check but yeah that's what it is) and I use it to symbolize Tarinne losing her mom during the war. The last line, which includes the song's title, I especially like. It's referring to how morticians (apparently) put cotton gauze in a corpse's throat and mouth to keep body fluids in and make the face look more natural. So there's a fun fact for you.
8. See U Soon (Song for Dad): Just a short lofi piece to rest a bit, and it was also chosen because the title's in reference to Tarinne growing closer to her dad after losing her mom. She still visits him at his leathers and furs shop in Stormwind fairly often, especially after dangerous adventures. She just wants to make sure he knows she's alright ;-;
9. No Lullaby: Right back into it with a song that I use to represent Tarinne's general feeling of not being able to go home because it's not there anymore. She's felt like this since the end of the Third War, but it's especially strong since the whole Teldrassil thing. But I like the ending, "who said you're on your own," because it contrasts the repeating of "alone" in the rest of the song. And it's kinda like "hey, listen, you're not the only one who feels like she can't go home." I mean that's probably how basically every single night elf feels right now skxnks
10. The Moss: This song juxtaposes classic fairy tales with scientific facts about the world and I love it to BITS. I'm using it here to represent both Tarinne's love for storytelling but also her sort of... part-time historian/archaeologist/conservator career.
11. Rasputin: I just associate this song with her for some reason and this was the best place to put it.
12. Electric Feel: Moving on to focus more on Tarinne's relationship with Cathala now. This is an extremely great and somewhat 😏 song that I also included because the electricity theme is appropriate because Cathala has lightning powers and y'know it's from Tarinne's perspective or whatever.
13. Bedroom Hymns: You know why this is here.
14. Movement: I can't talk about love songs without talking about Hozier, okay. This is just a nice, slower song to relax a bit with.
15. Never Let Me Go: I have an entire goddamn music video in my head with Cathala and Tarinne for this song and it’s very dramatic and emotional and I had to include this song or I’d die. Basically just listen to near the end of this song when she's repeating the title over and over, and imagine the two of them seeing each other at opposite ends of a battlefield after the dust settles and they rush towards each other and fall to their knees holding on as tightly as they can because they got separated early on and each thought the other was dead. Then you'll know how I feel when I listen to this song.
16. Nothing That Has Happened So Far Has Been Anything We Could Control: First of all I love the title, and second of all there's a big section in the middle (1:49 to 2:47) that I like to interpret as the two of them grappling with the fact that they're not really quite sure who or what they're fighting for anymore. Their people, yeah, but there's so many alliances and semi-permanent enemies and only-on-every-other-thursday-enemies all intertwined and the world is just so very confusing and they're trying to make the best of it. Elf school didn’t include international, interracial politics in its curriculum. It did however include how to properly plant trees, and AP calculus (this is a joke).
17. In Dreams: I like to imagine this song is something the two of them would say to each other, as a way of saying “even when everything we know is gone, even when the world ends, I will still be by your side. And if I’m not, don’t fear, for I will find you.” It makes a nice note to end on :)
For Cathala’s:
1. muse: Just a nice lofi intro to get us into things :) I don't see this song as her theme, like I do with Tarinne and the first song in her playlist, but I like it quite a bit. I don't actually really have a theme for Cathala yet, I'm currently going with a version of Way of the Monk from WoW's OST but I'm still looking for something better.
2. Frogs Singing: I included this because it's about just appreciating nature, which works because night elf and also mindfulness and meditation is a whole thing.
3. Tongues: This is a song about feeling distant from your peers which is like Cathala's whole existence! She's this weird mix of two cultures and ultimately she feels out of place regardless of where she is or who she's with. Also the theme with not understanding what people are saying works because the poor woman had to learn Pandaren from scratch and that shit ain't easy. I think blizz said somewhere probably that Common is just a language that EVERYONE knows inherently because Video Game but that's bullshit in my opinion. I'll allow spells that let you understand foreign languages to an extent (Comprehend Languages from D&D lets you understand the LITERAL meaning only, which I like), but every culture and species in the universe knowing Common is silly if you think about it for more than two seconds.
4. Kung Fu Fighting: I'm legally required to include this song. Also I prefer the Kung Fu Panda version, I'm sorry.
5. Harder Better Faster Stronger: I vicariously experience having a great work ethic through Cathala and that's why this song is here because she has 999 Determination and does Too Many push-ups every day or something idk. I was gonna say "every morning" but I have a headcanon that elves only need to sleep every couple of days (sort of a nod to "elves don't need to sleep at all" from D&D, and to explain why NIGHT elves are active at all hours of the day) so that doesn't work.
6. What's Up Danger: This song is Cathala's whole Vibe. Almost zero threat assessment skills in this woman's brain. If it can be punched, she will punch it.
7. Eye for an Eye: Fairly self-explanatory, it's a song about wanting revenge so... yeah. Checked that box. It was this or The Vengeful One by Disturbed but ultimately The Vengeful One's religious symbolism probably makes it fit better as a Tyrande theme lol ("I'm the hand of god, I'm the dark messiah." Did you mean: the Night Warrior)
8. Survivor: Cathala's survived a lot of shit and this could kinda be her making fun of herself for it because "Gods, man! Don't I deserve a break!"
9. Ashes: Really the reason I include this song is the last chunk (2:42 to the end) because holy shit. Listen, if I was gonna include a song with fire motifs, it was gonna be a somber one like this.
10. Into the West: This can kinda represent Cathala just trying to fucking breathe and recover from Teldrassil. Also works because I dunno it has stuff to do with the elves in LotR, I haven't seen those movies in a while. It sounds nice and is melancholy so I included it.
11. Like Real People Do: Cathala loves Tarinne a lot you guys have I ever menti-
12. Into the Wild: Tarinne changed Cathala's world for the better and she's super fucking grateful she has her by her side. Kinda goes without saying but you know.
13. Chasing the Moon: I have a vague music video in my head for this of them falling in love and it's very cute so there's that. Also it's in this specific spot because hey she may be deeply traumatized but she's still got a fair number of things/people in her life that make her happy so :)
14. Follow My Girl: I've got a theme going in my head that while Tarinne is fairly certain of her place in the world, Cathala is still trying to find hers. She outlived all her connections on Pandaria because Elf Lifespans(tm) and the only members of her family still alive are distant relatives she never knew very well.
15. Wish That You Were Here: This works both to represent Cathala on Pandaria feeling super homesick, and for more recently after Teldrassil. Either way, it's a message to her parents and sister.
16. Mr. Fear: She does her damnedest to hide it but she's absolutely terrified something like Teldrassil's gonna happen again! That fear drives her to do everything in her power to protect who and what she can. As long as they're not Forsaken, cause she's still got her biases, that compassion even extends across faction lines. She never really got the whole Alliance/Horde thing anyway. Innocent people shouldn't have to die, regardless of who or what they are.
17. Ordinary Day: Not to get super out there but I think this song works as symbolizing Cathala really trying to hold on to her faith in Elune, but ultimately feeling pretty abandoned. I mean she can clearly see Elune's influence everywhere. But Elune sure ain't doing Cathala any favors as far as she can tell! It also ends the whole playlist on maybe a bit of an uncertain/open-ended note, because this "losing faith" aspect is a new thing with her and will definitely be something she continues to struggle with for a while. On a related note, I should say Tarinne is still very much devout but she gets what Cathala's feeling and doesn't force anything on her, and vice versa. And Cathala wouldn't become atheist, the night elves aren't monotheistic and she still worships all the other deities, it's just specifically Elune she's a little :/ on.

Hi! Sorry if this has been asked before but how much time is Sabo able to spend with Ace and Luffy in the Mer! AU? Does he hang around a lot for adventures or only visit every few weeks because of his duties with the Revolutionaries? Or does he pretty much work from the Sunny? And what about Ace and his connection to the Whitebeard Pirates after picking up Luffy, now that he is Co-Captain of Luffys crew? ( / in hiding after the war? )
So ah, a lotta questions in this one! Thanks for the interest and sending it in! ^ ^
I try to keep my long answers limited to one central topic per ask response so it’s easier to read for everyone, and you can read a bit about Ace’s relationship with the Whitebeards in this story post, so let me talk a bit about Sabo in this one!
So a very, VERY quick ‘n vague rundown of Sabo’s timeline here:
The way I currently have it now, the Auction House Incident happens shortly before Loguetown, aka while they’re still in East Blue. This is when Sabo and Koala meet the ASL pirates, and when Sabo regains his memories as a result.
Sabo’s conflicted about a lot of things, but especially given the situation he found Luffy in (in an auction house, submerged in a tank, and shackled with seastone that Sabo can still see bruises from), Sabo’s very reluctant to leave. He den dens Dragon to let him know that he’s regained his memories, and Dragon casually drops that oh yeah, Luffy’s his daughter.
Kind of a shocker for everyone.
Anyway, turns out Dragon had wanted to see Luffy off at Loguetown anyway and will be in the area, so Sabo and Koala go to meet up with him when they make landfall at the town of the beginning and the end.
Sabo tells his boss that he doesn’t have any intention of leaving the Revolutionaries...but also thinks he wants more time with Ace and Luffy, and he’s still so disoriented, he’s not sure he can immediately go back to his duties. Likewise, Koala’s just found out about Arlong, and even though she’s sure she could have moved on if it was just a report, she’s seen how hurt Nami is. And she wants to stay a little while longer too, if possible.
Dragon thinks the two have done enough work and deserve some time off, and orders them to remain with the ASL pirates at least until they’re in the New World, at which point they can decide whether they want to return to Baltigo or not. He’s sure they’ll find ways to help the cause along the way as well. And while Dragon has full faith in Luffy, he sees no demerit in having two of his most trusted officers on her ship until she can at least get her fins under her, so to speak.
(Then they hear a ruckus outside, Sabo and Koala rush to check, and lo and behold Luffy’s about to get beheaded. That was fast)
And so Sabo and Koala temporarily join the crew, and their positions are kind of like Thatch’s; treated as fully part of the crew, but also without giving up their more official and permanent roles as Revolutionaries. And while not as much as Thatch, they’re also Grand Line veterans, and more often than not step back to let the true rookies shine, providing backup when needed (but also disappearing once in a while to check in on local agents they pass by).
Sabo, as the third brother who sleeps in the Captains’ quarters and has his initial included in the crew name, sorta gets treated as a pseudo-Captain. Less in that he gives orders directly, but more in that Ace and Luffy automatically turn to him for his opinion, since he’s always been the brains of the trio, and he was their missing piece. But when the other two are unavailable, leadership does fall into Sabo’s hands more often than not; as Chief of Staff, he’s used to the leadership position, and functions exceptionally well at times of crisis, while also knowing exactly what Ace and Luffy would have done.
Sabo and Koala remain with the ASL pirates for their entire trip through Paradise, periodically checking in with Dragon. And well, Dragon was right--they do get quite a bit of Revolutionary Work done. If anything, they do more than usual--which is slightly embarrassing, but Luffy doesn’t hesitate to cause trouble, and Ace is right there backing her up and doubling the damage, so perhaps it isn’t so much a surprise.
And so they help the Drum Kingdom, and help Princess Vivi save Alabasta, and then go to Skypeia, and then go head to head with CP9 and Luffy declares war on the freakin’ World Government. Sabo knows it’s risky for him to be there, the Revolutionary Army isn’t quite ready to be out in the open like that yet--but in his defense, he was wearing a mask (no, he wasn’t copying Sogeking he swears).
They free shadows and defeat Moria in the Florian Triangle, and gain a skeleton as a crew member.
And then they get to Saboady. Where things go to shit.
(aaand I’ll leave off here for now, but yeah Sabo’s with them post time-skip too, this time as a slightly more formal member of the crew, and he also spent a little time at Rusukaina during the time skip. But that’s not for this post ^ ^;)

Alrighty, Neptune is the last character ask I have in my inbox. If anyone is interested in hearing my thoughts on any other character, feel free to send them in!
My top three ships for the character
Neptune/Jaune is probably my favorite ship for him, I think they could be cute and they’d have a good relationship, and I think he’d help Neptune loosen up and stop trying so hard to be cool. Neptune/Sun is my second favorite ship for him. Although I see them as best friends for life, I also think they could be really nice together and there is some very cute fan art of these two. Also, Ren/Neptune could be really cute, if Neptune has done some maturing, I could see them connecting in Vacuo. (Honorable mention to Weiss/Neptune, who would’ve made this list, if their ‘love triangle’ hadn’t been done with so much cringe.)
My three least favorite ships for the character
Neptune/Ruby is kinda... Weird, just because of how young Ruby often acts. Neptune/Blake. I don’t think Neptune and Blake would ever have feelings for each other. And Neptune/Ilia. Even putting aside the fact that she’s a lesbian and I headcanon Neptune as gay, she’s clearly uncomfortable with his advances and he apparently has no awareness of when to back off, so... Yeah. This one feels kinda icky to me.
My biggest criticism for the character
I was going to talk about how some of the humor surrounding him is cringe as it is with Sun, or how he and Sun don’t ever get new outfits, but guys, I have to talk about the flirting. The flirting with Weiss? Not a problem, Weiss is clearly receptive, she and Neptune do have at least some level of chemistry, Weiss shows no signs of being uncomfortable. Even his ‘what a woman’ line with Yang is (imo) totally fine, they’re both casually flirty and Yang didn’t seem uncomfortable with Neptune at all either, and there’s nothing wrong with casually flirty characters. But Neptune flirting with Team NDGO and making sexual innuendos and making advances on Ilia when she clearly looks uncomfortable... These were obviously not well received and Neptune just kept flirting. That’s bad. I love Neptune, but this writing is jacked. Men wrote him to make women uncomfortable without it being treated as a real problem his character overcomes (while we’re on that subject, Jaune has the same problem with Weiss and just because he ‘moved on’ to Pyrrha when he thought Weiss had ‘chosen Neptune’ doesn’t mean he was ever shown on screen to realize that pestering women who make it clear they’re not interested is wrong.) I love Neptune, but if they weren’t going to make him a bigger character who had an arc and learned to not make sexual innuendos to women suggesting they’re going to try and use a professional fight to assault him and then wink at them when they show clear displeasure with his gross attempts at ‘flirting’... Then they should’ve just not done that! Because it wasn’t funny, or cute, or cool, or playful like the RWBY writers had clearly thought it was.
My favorite thing about the character
His friendship with Sun. I honestly love the fact that Sun has this dorky, intellectual, tries too hard, ‘super cool’ friend. Neptune seems to hold Sun back some and doesn’t seem to take things as serious as even Sun does, letting his (if what I’ve heard from the books is true) very valid phobia impact his performance and even impact whether or not he goes with Sun to Menagerie. But at the same time, those flaws don’t mean he isn’t a good friend. We see from the start that he’s a good listener, he’s supportive and understanding and loyal, willing to follow Sun (as he follows Blake) into crazy adventures and up onto ledges. They joke around, they get each other, and the fact that they’re independent and can survive without each other only makes them a healthier dynamic. Also, Sun clearly opens up to him and is very comfortable talking to Neptune about his feelings towards Blake in volume 6 and they had a good scene together there. Gosh, I miss these two. (Honorable mention to Neptune’s hints of anxiety and how stressed he can get. I’m very easily stressed out and anxious myself and it’s nice to see a character that seems to be incredibly stressed himself while still being a cool character who is friendly that people like.)
A headcanon I have about them
Blake knowing about Neptune’s fear of the water makes me think that she had hung out quite a bit with at least Neptune. I love the idea of them being friends themselves, connecting and sharing a lot of similarities even if they seem totally different from first glance. They totally spent hours talking Sun’s ear off about various books while he just tried to follow along because he loves them and wants to share their interests.
What I would change about them if I was making a re-write
I’ve been thinking a lot about Neptune lately and how I’d change him. First off, I’d keep him casually flirty, but throw out him going too far since it makes me uncomfortable. And I think I would feature him in Mistral and have him reconnect with the mains. I think that for what the show was in Volumes 1-3, Neptune having a more comical, casual character was fine and fun and didn’t throw off the tone, but that he’d need some adjusting to fit into RWBY in the future, and I also think Mistral needed to be more fleshed out and that RNJR and Oscar/Oz needed more time and more to do there. If Team RNJR had met up with Neptune and the rest of his team (though obviously Sage and Scarlet wouldn’t be very featured) and heard from them about the shady things going on in Mistral, that could be good. I’d have the mains spend some time ‘working under Lionheart’ as he tries to get rid of them before Cinder makes her deal with Raven and that would include them doing missions with Neptune. He would be more serious and mature than before, telling them Sun is with Blake in Menagerie, and tell them about how bad things have gotten in Mistral which they would see themselves as they take missions even when none of them are licensed (which they would see as a good thing, but would be clearly framed as a bad thing with Neptune not doing well and clearly not ready and the others also clearly not ready themselves.) Then when everyone starts meeting back up, Weiss and Yang are pulled into things. Neptune could be part of the Haven fight and then reconnect with Blake and Sun when they return. A part of me really would want them to join the group permanently and accompany them to Atlas... But I think I would have them go to Vacuo to continue going to school, and just meet up with them again in the Vacuo arc.
What I I think of their character allusion and what (if anything) I would change about it
Neptune was the Roman god of water (originally springs, lakes, and rivers only before eventually expanding into the primary god of the sea) and horses, and also may have been the god of rain and cloudy skies before that function was given to Jupiter. His Greek counterpart, Poseidon, was the god of the sea, storms, and earthquakes, and was a protector of seafarers. Like most gods, there is a lot to go off of in terms of characterization and very little that’s definitive to make a concise character. However, Neptune is mainly gimmick based, with a weapon that doubles as a trident and in the show canon, only has something to do with water. Although it’s interesting to note that Poseidon had worked with Apollo (the god of the sun) in mythology at least once. It seems like there isn’t a lot there. Even including his semblance in the show proper would go a ways towards making his allusion to Neptune/Poseidon feel less gimmicky.

AHIT Headcannons?
Hmmm, kinda vague question but I'll see what I can do. Oh actually, looking at my drafts I do have some space kids personality headcanons so I'm just gonna copy paste it here and add to it.
Some Hat and Bow personality headcanons, particularly for my au (which I'm probably gonna stockpile until I'm done)
While both Hat and Bow are both playful, as kids usually are, Hat is more outgoing, while Bow is more on the shy side, though she loves adventuring and making friends just as much as Hat does.
While both are generally kind people, Hat can be smug and mischevous sometimes, Bow can too, but milder and way less often, and she knows when to stop.
Hat means well, but sometimes she cannot properly read the situation or people's emotions which, along with her slight lack of social skills, can sometimes make her say things that are not completely appropriate for the situation at hand. Sometimes, what she says may even come off as a little brash. Bow is more emotionally intelligent out of the two of them, so she is better at properly handling certain social or emotional situations.
Their backstory I've basically taken from Lemonadesoda's fic "Hide and seek" except Bow is there too. In short, their parents died when they were little so they were left in the care of the parents' colleagues but they see the kids as an incovinience and don't pay much attention to them, one day an evacuation takes place on the colony and the kids accidentally get left behind. They put a ship together out of scrap and go to fly back home but get stuck on earth when they lose their Time pieces.
Bow is slightly taller than Hat
Oh! Just remembered, alien species headcanons! Got them saved on my phone
Alien society
Time pieces are generally used as spaceship fuel, to produce energy, and as a regular citizen you may have the right to reverse a recent, minor incident. Anything more mayor done by an unexperienced or hasty mind could have grave consequences (like Mustache Girl's unstable time rift which would have eventually collapsed and killed the whole planet)
All citizens are under a moral code where they are sworn to protect the proper flow of time. Only authorities authorized by the CEO of time may use the Time pieces for bigger scale endeavors such as reversing major catastrophies, but it's a slow process and by the time they fix one, a hundred more happen in just one sector alone, so don't get your hopes up about having your tragedy reversed.
The aliens actually did visit Earth centuries before, but they have a policy not to interfere with outside communities too much if their society hasn't technologically advanced enough yet, so as to not sully their natural progress or ruin their culture due to colonization or similar. They are allowed to essentially "hang out" should the native community be willing to continue benevolent contact, so they do end up sharing information about each others culture and technology, which is why Earth has an affinity for hats with special abilities like the alien society does.
The aliens also found out about cats while on Earth and they liked them so much they took some home, so now they are a semi-popular pet there. (look I just really needed to explain why Bow's default outfit is cat-themed)
The alien society has developed a vaccine that can permanently grant your immune system the ability to succesfully fend off most foreign diseases. These are also given to any outsiders joining their society to prevent them from immediatelly dying from their diseases. On the topic of that. All space travellers must go through a decontamination process before setting off, so as not to infect foreign worlds.
Alien biology
Aliens don't really keep track of their age unless it's for legal reasons due to all the time shenanigans that happen while traveling screwing with their passage of time, but generally speaking, aliens grow up at a similar speed to humans until they mostly stop growing at around 10-11 in Earth years, then they stay mostly the same until hitting a growth spurt at 15-16 that will continue until they hit 18-19.
Their blood is a kind of reddish+magenta, would definitelly look off to a human.
They come in all the skin tones humans can come in, with the addition of more pinkish skin tones
Most of them have saturated, brightly colored eyes like blue, red, yellow and purple. Brownish/ dull colored eyes are kinda rare, which is how you may be able to tell apart a human from an alien at first glance.
Their species has through the centuries of space-traveling adapted to being able to eat many things which may be poisonous to the average non-space faring creature, to ensure survival on a new world.
As we see in canon, they are incredibly strong compared to humans too.
Random headcanon about the horizon
The Horizon is a plane where all "magic" comes from. The aliens learned to harvest it and weave it into hat yarn long ago, while on Earth, the horizon leaks through in more impure forms, once the magic finds itself in a creature or object, it can form different characteristics depending on the person, forming the types of magic people like Vanessa and Snatcher wield. Having magic on Earth is kinda like having a symbiotic spirit that has no consciousness of its own. Earthlings do not understand most of it, and simply call it magic.
Also here are some Subcon headcanons but they will be short cause they are either widely known about or I talked about it before
Vanessa's mother was abusive and would lock her in the cellar (without chains) when she misbehaved. Vanessa had no control over her life which later made her possesive and controling towards the prince.
The Prince knows about Vanessa's mother being horrible to Vanessa but not the full extent of it.
Vanessa frequently guilt tripped the Prince with her own insecurities and how her mother treated her, and the Prince always either gave in because he didn't want to upset her further or got backed into a corner with it when he actually tried to defend himself, dismissing his own concerns as trivial.
Snatcher steals souls because Vanessa's powers are still running rampant and might even freeze the whole world if Snatcher doesn't use soul power to melt the ice. Kind of a "forced to become a monster to protect himself from one" situation.
Okay I hope that answered everything! Thank you for the ask
