jack would be a stem kid because he loves doing experiments the scientific method is his best friend he loves being hands on and getting to be like I was wrong but the right answer is way cooler than I thought it would be and he loves the connections between art and science, like the way chemical reactions are responsible for why pottery glaze looks so cool and how talented at art you have to be to be good at any kind of diagramming or bio illustration
and davey would be a stem kid because people are more impressed by good grades in science and math classes than english classes so he works harder at them even though he really loves language more than numbers and when he ends up in a class with jack who seems to be goofing off all the time he's annoyed by how little work he seems to put in until he realizes actually jack is really smart but completely unaware of it because he thinks he's goofing off when he's actually running pretty well-designed experiments for fun (unsanctioned by the instructor) in between steps of the lab.

hq + what they’d be like as lab partners
───✱*.。:。✱*.:。✧*.。✰*.:。✧*.。:。*.。✱ ───
the good, the bad, and the ugly when it comes to lab partners. honestly, your partner will either make or break the lab experience for you... so choose wisely! based off my time wasted away in a well ventilated lab.
───✱*.。:。✱*.:。✧*.。✰*.:。✧*.。:。*.。✱ ───
atsumu ➝ a walking nightmare in the lab. always goes “the lab doesn’t seem that bad” to his friends and then gets stuck on the first five steps. is the one that gets a 348% error after decanting and drying underneath the hood and then makes up a random number for the results just to get out on time. for the remainder of the semester, YOU’RE the one doing the lab and atsumu’s just an errand boy gathering the necessary supplies. always forgets to label his beakers and will mix up the water and the acid because of this... the TA despises him and will rip the glassware out of his hands and label it for him before going back to the bench. since you’re his lab partner, you get your lab graded harder by association
kita ➝ the lab saint. he actually knows what he’s doing because he read the lab the day before, made multiple notes and diagrams, and will ask questions during initial procedure breakdown. the professors love him and ask if he would be willing to share his lab notes as a sample for the next semester. keeps his bench incredibly clean and does a 50/50 split of the work to keep things fair (also tells you that it’s the best way to learn). if you’re confused with the process, he takes over and shows you how to properly do it, making sure to go slowly and asks you if you understand. never gets frustrated when things don’t work out, instead traces back his steps to see where he went wrong. his percent yield is always in the 90′s (a walking god amongst men). people are constantly telling you how lucky you are to have him as a lab partner as if you don’t already know
akaashi ➝ the smart lab partner who doesn’t care what you do as long as you two get the right data. he’s a pretty chill guy, but if you tend to be on the clumsier side, he’ll take note and be like “...maybe I should do this part” to be nice. kind of burnt out and it shows in lab when he puts on his lab coat backwards or when he grips his micropipette a little too tight. sighs a lot when heating up or cooling solvents (he despises how most of lab is just a waiting game). funniest in the driest way possible, and if you reciprocate his sense of humor, then he’ll hold you to a higher regard. you two meet up every week to finish writing up the lab reports because it’s easier to check calculations and create your reasonings together this way (won’t admit that he enjoys your company aloud)
osamu ➝ didn’t show up to the first lab because he switched majors right beforehand. said he gave up on pre-med. it’s only the second week of classes, osamu...
suna ➝ has his lab partner do all the work and goes “Ooooh neat” when recording the reactions (straight up writes “turned yellow” as an answer... like okay? at what temperature? did it bubble? was a visible gas released? how long did it take? he does the bare minimum). kind of never knows what’s going on in lab because he reads the procedure right before class, so he’s heavily reliant on his partner. if YOU don’t know what’s going on... then you’re both screwed. always forgets his lab coat and you have to text him 30 minutes before class to go get it. has a nice circle of friends who share their data with him, so he’ll copy it and show it to you when you’re stuck. honestly, the only reason why you guys are passing lab is because of the sheer generosity of others
futakuchi ➝ the smart asshole in lab. gets the job done, but he’s horrible to work with. makes sure he does everything as fast as possible because he wants to get out within the next hour... if the directions call for medium heat, he has the hot plate dialed to the highest setting; will shake up the test tubes himself if the centrifuge is busy; doesn’t care about cross contamination and uses the same wooden stirring stick throughout the lab (just leaves it lying on the bench... the bench he never sterilizes). always pressuring you to hurry the hell up when grabbing solvents from the TA. bosses you around all the time and will straight up do the lab by himself when he’s in a rush (says “I have plans after this” as if you dont?!). you two get a nice grade... but was it worth it?
kuroo ➝ great partner, the only flaw he has is that he cares way too much about every little detail. follows lab instructions to the T. handbook says to stir for ten minutes? you’re standing there with that stirring rod for exactly ten minutes. doing titrations and the professor says the color should be a pale pink? he’s watching every single drip and is questioning if the pink should be more vibrant or not. need 7mL of water? he’s checking the meniscus of the graduated cylinder, dumping and refilling until it’s a perfect 7mL. sweats whenever he uses the pastor pipettes. makes you nervous sometimes because his lab anxiety rubs off you. by the time you two are halfway done, the rest of the class already left. you guys are always the last to leave lab, but he makes up for this by buying you lunch
matsukawa ➝ poured water into sulfuric acid. did it in front of the TA, was automatically failed for the lab that week, and kicked out for the day. now you have to do the lab by yourself
hanamaki ➝ was the one who told matsukawa to pour water into sulfuric acid as a joke. felt so bad about it that he went after him. you end up doing the lab by yourself and you don’t share the data with him out of pettiness. he failed the lab that week
sugawara ➝ he’s a fun lab partner, but he plays too much. like no, stop, please keep that petri dish away from your mouth; that agar may look like jelly, but we just streaked it with e. coli... will act like a model student whenever the TA walks by, but as soon as they’re out of sight... he’s treating the lab like it’s a cooking mama mini game. pretends that the inoculating loop put over the bunsen burner is a stick with a marshmallow at the end. even though he messes around a lot, he still gets his work done. texts you cheesy lab jokes. at the end of the semester, he stole a couple pH strips as a souvenir for surviving lab together and will occasionally use them to test on the water from the school fountains (spoiler: he no longer drinks from the water fountains on campus)
shirabu ➝ the TA. he was incredibly standoffish when he first introduced himself to the class, but really he’s just kind of awkward. knows when students copy data off of other people, but at this point he’s too tired to even care (he’s an undergrad TA, so he doesn’t get paid for being in the lab). can be kind of terrifying at points; he’ll be walking around to monitor students and will straight up ask “why are your hands shaking?” and “did you not read the lab before coming today?” when he sees you do something wrong, he’ll instantly correct you (you need to trash the micropipette tip RIGHT after you use it) in a stern manner. don’t cross him or else he’ll start grading your papers extra hard. someone wrote their phone number for him in their lab report once and he took points off for it

alphys and flowey, with 22!
I'm so sorry for taking so long. Here we go. 22: books (from this prompt list)
This is for Alphys week! -> Day 6: Flowers
(who said it had to be several flowers?)
Crumpled Paper
Words: 1300
Read on AO3:
https://archiveofourown.org/works/33809740
The first time he met the royal scientist, it had been during a visit she made to the castle, a day after he had emerged in his fath- Asgore's garden, crying out for help for the first time. She carried a bag, which she dropped the moment the king informed her of his finding. She examined him, checking on his magic levels, and as she worked, her face could barely hide her worries. Through stuttering words Dr. Alphys gave her report: she said he had no SOUL, but besides the fact, he seemed fine. She came by every few days to check his stats, apologizing profusely every time. What for? She couldn't explain herself without stumbling on her words, but he got something about an experiment. But it would be fine, she assured him!
He wasn't fine, he couldn't feel, no matter how much he tried. He was not the same and it wasn't worth it to keep trying.
But then he discovered the real power behind determination. Curiosity led him to various places, and soon he found himself outside of the scientist's laboratory. She hid something, and he was determined to find out.
* * *
"Howdy!"
Alphys was startled by the sudden voice. She was back from a trip to the dump, holding a bag full of cans and metallic wastes. At this time of the day, she didn't expect to find anyone outside the lab.
A flower stood by the door, giving her a toothy smile.
"Howdy, doctor! Have we met before?" The flower snickered and winked, as if there was an inside joke she didn't get.
She recognized the kind of flower on sight, after all, she had worked with them during the last weeks. But just like her other experiments, it seemed determination didn't have the expected effects. She rememebered taking the vessels back to the garden and...
Oh no.
Not THIS too.
She tried forming a sentence. But what could she say? She felt herself start sweating, her breathing getting faster. She swallowed and managed to say "We do not know each o- but you said that we do..." She decided to set for a question. "Do you want to... come in?"
The flower's expression was blank for a moment as if considering his options, then he smiled. "Sure! Get me inside!" Alphys sighed in relief. This shouldn't be difficult, right? They could just... take their time to talk.
After some arrangements, she managed to fit the flower in her bag to carry him and set him in her workbench. His small black eyes examined the room, eagerly looking for something. What it was, Alphys couldn't tell.
She was filled with questions of her own. Dozens of theories were running in her head, but she feared the flower wouldnt be able to answer them. She watched him as he tried to pick up one of the books resting on her desk. They were too heavy to lift.
"Do you... want my help?" She held the book for him, which had a winged hero on the cover. She opened it on a random page, so they could both look at the drawings.
"What does it say?" He pointed at one of the speech bubbles.
"What?" Alphys was distracted looking at the pose one of the main characters, a human with human ears, was making.
"On the book. The handwriting's weird."
"Oh that... I'm not sure. It seems it's a human language, but it's not like the one we speak. I think it's called Japanese. It comes from the land where they make cool things like anime and..." She started going through the list of every little fact she learnt about the land through her TV shows, but the flower interrupted her.
"Why do you have a book you can't read?"
"It's called manga." She was quick to correct. "I'm learning how to read and write! I've been looking for books in the dump that can teach you how."
"Is that what you do as a sicentist?" He raised an eyebrow, which was as white as the rest of his face.
"N-no, but it's something... I do sometimes, when I have the time."
"Cool! Can you teach me?"
"To read Japanese?"
"No, I'll pass, it sounds complicated. My sibling would have liked it. They are such a nerd, always saying weird words."
Would that mean...? Oh no, one animated flower is a thing but more? Alphys would be screwed.
The flower opened his eyes wide at his words and he stuck his tongue out in thoguht, as if he was solving a mental puzzle. Alphys waited, was it the right move to ask questions? Would it scare the flower?
"Ah, my tongue slipped. I guess I'll have to tell you. But later, OK?" A part of Alphys wanted to turn to dust right there, a different part wanted to spit out every question that crossed her mind, but the saner part of her decided it was best to play along. Anything to make this less awkward.
The flower found a solution sooner than her. "Why don't you... teach me how to write? I don't know if I can." He looked down at his vines.
"Yeah, sure. let me grab some paper and pencils." Alphys felt the tension dissipate as they changed topics.
"Do you have color pencils too?"
"Uhm, we'll see what I can get."
Alphys found a box of pencils next to her computer, on top of a pile of paper detailing her blueprint ideas, a few scratched projects and a personal story she was working on. Her handwriting made her the least suitable for the job, but the flower was content with her lessons. They chatted about mundane topics, forgetting their situation for a moment. He was reluctant to tell her his name, and never mentioned the "sibling" again, but both of them seemed at ease.
"Do you wanna... stay here tonight? Or do you need to go to the garden?" He considered his options, then shook his head. Alphys leaned to look at the paper, it seemed her friend grew tired of writing and made a drawing. "What's that?"
"It's me! Well, not me me, but my cooler form!" It showed a winged godlike creature, shooting stars out of his hands. He was surrounded by a rainbow cloud.
"Oh! You drew inspiration from the manga I showed you?"
"Maybe? But this is way better!" He was grinning, proud of his successful creation. It took him some time to get used to grabbing pencils with his vines. Even though he couldn't make small things, his grasp was good enough to make a rough sketch.
"I like it! Give it a name!"
"What would they name it... " He whispered, barely audible. "Ah! I know what."
He took a black marker, and with a strange kind of handwriting and in all uppercase he wrote:
"THE ABSOLUTE GOD OF HYPERDEATH"
For the rest of the timeline, the drawing was put on the fridge with a magnet. He didn't get much information about the scientist that night, and saw less of her with every passing day
When he found out why, he reset. Many timelines went by. The ghost of the drawing was forgotten, but his ability to grab things stayed.
* * *
Alphys walked into the lab, putting on her labcoat over her dress. Her day was eventful, and her confession marked the start of a new time. She was feeling... better? Sure, her confidence had a long way to go, but she could handle it one thing at a time. Her smile dropped when she found a crumpled piece of paper, with a message scribbled with a black marker. It was a strange kind of handwriting, in all uppercase.
It read: "I KNOW WHAT YOU DID"

I Will Try (To Fix You) - Part 2
It’s ten days before Carson deems Rodney “well enough” to return to his quarters. To date, this has been the longest infirmary stay that Rodney’s ever had and truthfully, he should probably stay a bit longer. His kidneys still aren’t functioning as well as they should, which means Carson’s been closely monitoring his water intake and urine output and a whole host of other things that John knows Rodney is embarrassed about. He’s also not entirely steady on his feet, courtesy of the muscle spams that wrack his calves and his thighs, bad enough sometimes to nearly bring him to tears. It’s ten days before John, Carson and Elizabeth have a very real, very difficult conversation about what a prolonged stay in the infirmary will likely do Rodney mentally, left with nothing really to occupy his time except, well, time to think about just how close he’d come to death. Carson is reluctant to release him; they haven’t yet gotten him back to solid foods and of course his kidney function is still a concern, but John knows Rodney, knows that he needs to be anywhere but here and he argues his case: Rodney can come stay in his quarters. His team is grounded for the foreseeable future, courtesy of John who is unwilling to go off-world without his entire team and while he’s offered to temporarily reassign Teyla and Ronon to Lorne, they share his line of thinking. Rodney can come stay with John, but he has his whole team who’ll be watching out for him, who will bring him for twice daily check ins, if needed, who will monitor any time spent in the lab, who just want Rodney to have some semblance of normalcy during his recovery. It must be an impassioned speech, because by the time he’s done, Elizabeth nods her consent and John finds for the first time in ten days, it’s a little easier to breath.
--- Rodney, predictably, complains about the arrangement. He’s not keen on having a babysitter and that hurts John’s stunted feelings more than he’d ever admit out loud. But when Carson makes it clear that the only option is an extended stay in the infirmary, he relents pretty easily and all that’s left is to prepare John’s quarters. Easy peasy. Right? Wrong. It turns out that the room John’s claimed for himself isn’t quite meant for two people. It’s small and while it’s fine for just him, he knows that it’s going to be too cramped, too claustrophobic and so he spends the eleventh day scouting out some of the larger quarters near the East Pier with Teyla, pretending to understand when she makes suggestions based on where the light from the rising sun falls and which room has the best view of the ocean, which she believes will aid in Rodney’s recovery. He’s never been much into new age bullshit that seems to be pretty common across two galaxies, but he’s willing to shove a couple of crystals up his own ass if it means getting Rodney better.
He enlists Ronon, Lorne and a couple of marines to help move their things. John leaves his own quarters to Wallace, Gregory and Barnes despite how uncomfortable the thought of them seeing his own personal effects makes him, and he takes Rodney’s room with Ronon and Lorne. Rodney, for his part, has a lot of stuff. It takes the better part of the afternoon to get everything moved over, including Rodney’s deceptively heavy prescription mattress, his four laptops and the whiteboard that he’d swiped from the labs within the first week of their arrival. John’s stuff, save for his own bed, mostly fits in a couple bags. By the time they’re finished, he’s tired, shoulders and back aching, reminding him just how fucking old he’s getting, but still, he trudges down to the infirmary, plastering a smile on his face for Rodney as he steps in through the paneled doors. “Hey buddy,” he greets. “Got us all set up in some new digs. Wait until you see the tub in this one,” he says, nodding as Carson comes over, Rodney’s chart in hand. “He all good to go, Doc?” “I suppose he’ll have to be, now won’t he?” He asks and there’s a scowl there that John cheerfully ignores. “I expect him back here at 10 and 2, Colonel. A minute late for either appointment and he’s back here, d’you understand?” “10 and 2, just like a steering wheel. Got it, doc. How about the food situation?” “Yeah, what he said,” Rodney frowns and John knows from previous experience just how miserable a clear liquid diet can be. “I’m alright with him startin’ on solids, but take it easy,” Carson warns. “Nothin’ too heavy,” and Rodney waves him off, but despite his lackadaisical nature, John really is taking this seriously, committing everything to memory. “Got it. We good?” Carson pauses for a moment before he sighs. “Aye. But not a moment late, Colonel!” He warns as Marie and Simpson come, pushing a wheelchair that Rodney tries to vehemently refuse. John settles a hand on his shoulder gently. “Hey, hey. C’mon. Easy. It’s a pretty long walk to the pier, alright? Let’s not push it too much on your first day.” “Traitor,” Rodney mutters under his breath and John actually does smile because it feels a little like it used to before those God damned Carneans. John steadies the wheelchair while Marie and Simpson maneuver Rodney into it and after what feels like forever, they’re finally on their way. “You did get my laptops, right?” “Yes, Rodney.” “And what about the Athosian soaps from the bathroom? Those were made specially for me by Gita and, and, and the medicinal properties-- “We got ‘em.” “My mattress?” “Of course.” Rodney harrumphs like maybe he’s expecting John to have forgotten something, as if John would ever. “What about—” “Your favorite red pen that you use to mark up all those damn physics journals? Yep. Got that too. We grabbed everything, buddy. And if there’s somethin’ you need that we don’t have, just say the word and we’ll make it happen.” Rodney falls strangely quiet at that. --- It’s easy to live with Rodney. Lorne had very nearly pissed himself from laughter when John said so after the first few days and honestly, John took a little offense to that on Rodney’s behalf. Sure, he’s messy and he’s loud and the longer he’s out, the more of his biting sarcasm is returning, but John’s all for it, especially when he considers the alternative. (And he does consider it, frequently, usually in the dead of night when he wakes up from nightmares of vomit and grey skin, of an antidote recovered too late). But honestly, save for the fact that John now has to deal with Rodney’s dirty clothes strewn across the room and the stupid whiteboard that takes up the space that John’s surf board should be occupying, not much has changed at all, a testament to just how much time the two of them had spent together even before this. John follows Carson’s instructions to a T, and okay, maybe that’s a little different too because John’s always been the one to avoid the infirmary at all costs when it comes to his own health and
well-being, but he’s not taking a chance with Rodney’s. He takes him to his appointments and at nights, when the muscle spasms seem to be the worst, John sits with him on that stupidly comfortable bed, kneading the tight muscles in his legs as he tries to distract Rodney with shitty 80s movies and random banter about anything and everything that he thinks will goad Rodney into a tirade that’ll take his mind off of the pain. He even lets Rodney have four hours a day in the labs, split into two hour segments with an hour break in between. Normalcy. That’s the goal here and Rodney’s always at his best when he’s in his element, berating scientists and defying all laws of physics. That’s where Rodney is when everything goes to hell. --- It’s been twenty days since the Carneans. Ten days of the two of them cohabitating, ten days of Rodney slowly working his way back to normal. He’s been subsisting entirely of power bars and MREs, which, while not entirely healthy has been cleared by Carson if only for the fact that they provide sustenance without being too taxing on Rodney’s still delicate system and John’s just thinking about whether or not he can try to convince Rodney to try something a little more substantial from the mess later that evening when the call comes in over the radio. “Zelenka to Colonel Sheppard, please respond.” He sounds harried and John closes the latest mission report from Lorne’s team, already on his feet and moving when he taps his comm. “Sheppard here, go ahead Doc.” “I need you in Science Lab 3 please. There is a… situation.” “What do you mean by situation, Radek?” But when Radek keys up his comm again, John can hear the panicked wheezing in the background and he picks it up to a swift jog. “I believe Rodney is having a panic attack,” he says. “I have tried to bring him around but nothing is working and I--.” “I’m on my way. Sheppard out.” He meets Ronon in the corridor and he doesn’t even have to say a word before the Satedan is altering his own course, following after John. They can hear it before they even open the door. Rodney’s on the verge of hyperventilating, the sound of his ragged breaths interspersed with pained moans and Ronon is quick to clear the lab of well meaning scientists who are gaping at the scene while Radek tries to shield Rodney from view as much as possible. “Hey, hey,” John says soothingly, trying to keep his voice calm despite the way his heart is beating against his ribcage. “I’m here, buddy. Rodney, look at me. Hey, hey,” and he reaches out, finger under Rodney’s chin as he tips his head up, wild blue eyes meeting hazel. John wants to take Rodney’s hand, but his arms are wrapped around his middle, clutching his stomach so tightly and John glances over at the toppled plate on the floor, shards of glass now mixed with what looks like not-meatloaf. “Talk to me, Doc,” John calls over his shoulder at Zelenka. “What the hell happened?” “He was out of power bars, but hungry, so Miko thought perhaps he might be enticed to eat by something from the mess, knowing that this,” he gestures, “was Rodney’s favorite. He managed a couple of bites and everything was fine until… until it was not.” “Cramps,” Rodney rasps, reaching out to grip John’s wrist painfully. “Cramps. Poison, I—I can’t--.” “Get Carson down here,” John snarls, voice softening as he turns back to Rodney. “Hey. Listen to me, buddy. Carson told us this could happen, remember? The cramps. That’s why we started light. You’re okay though. I promise, Rodney. You’re okay, I’m right here and I need you to breathe.” It takes a bit of manhandling but John manages to get Rodney up enough that he can slide behind the other, drawing Rodney back against his chest, taking a couple of deep breaths. “C’mon, buddy. Breathe with me. You’re alright. I’ve got you. I’ve got you, Rodney.” That’s how Carson finds them a few moments later, Rodney trembling against the other, but thankfully no longer hyperventilating. “He’s alright,” John says, glancing up at Beckett. “Panic attack when
he tried to eat and cramped up.” “I thought—I thought--.” John pets through Rodney’s hair gently. “I know. You thought it happened again, but it didn’t, right? We’re gonna go down to the infirmary with Carson though and let him check you over so you can see for yourself.” “Easy, lad,” Carson says as Ronon comes over to help Rodney to his feet with more care than he’s shown anyone else, guiding him over to the gurney before he tugs John to his feet as well. “John—” Rodney rasps, the name catching his throat as the cramps hit again and he curls on his side, swallowing hard against the panic beginning to rise again. “I’m here,” John reminds him again, moving to take Rodney’s hand. “You’re alright, I promise.” And he is. He will be. John will be sure of that. --- The panic attacks don’t last long. He still cramps painfully when he eats, but the team is always with him at meal time to help him through it, John always, alwayseating a third of his food before switching his tray with Rodney’s for him to finish it, confident that there’s no poison. The effects of what had been done to him still linger, still present often and painfully, and sometimes, John doesn’t think what he’s doing is enough. That he should be doing more, that he should’ve done more back on that fucking planet to have saved Rodney from this entire ordeal. But Rodney’s getting better. John can see that when he goes longer and longer without a muscle spasm, or the first time he pees on his own and calls John in to see how clear it is, proof that his kidneys are finally starting to function normally. “You know,” Rodney says one night after they’ve pushed their beds close enough together that if they each scoot over to the edge, their shoulders are touching, “it probably won’t be too much longer until we can go back to our own quarters.” There’s an uncomfortable knot that twists itself up in John’s stomach at that but he swallows against the lump in his throat and says casually, “oh yeah? That’ll be cool. I guess.” “Yeah,” Rodney says and then he falls silent for a moment, as if waiting for something. Apparently, his impatience has returned full force because he doesn’t even give it a half a second before he’s speaking again. “I mean, unless we just… don’t?” Okay. That’s unexpected. “I just… this has been incredibly difficult, Colonel. Uh, John,” he corrects, “and you’ve… I know that this is probably because of some weird, misplaced guilt you’re harboring, because that’s how you are, Lieutenant Colonel Martyr, but… this has been okay… hasn’t it?” “Rodney, I--.” “I know I’m difficult. I’m messy and I’ll be going back to keeping weird hours soon enough and, and, and I know I can be annoying, but you’ve put up with that remarkably well and so I just thought--.” “I don’t want to go back to being alone,” John blurts out and he can feel the tension leaving Rodney’s body beside him. “Good. Me neither.” They fall into a comfortable silence then for a moment, the only sounds being their quiet breathing and the sound of the ocean waves through the open window. (Teyla was definitely right about picking this room.) “It’s not guilt,” John says after a moment. “I mean, not that I don’t feel guilty, because I should’ve never--.” He clears his throat and stops himself before he goes down that road. “You’re… I dunno. You’re McKay. Rodney. And I… when I found you that day, I thought you were dead,” and he can feel Rodney flinch at that, but he needs to get this out, he thinks. “I thought you’d died and I just… realized that I would’ve gone out of my fucking mind if you had, Rodney. Like, legitimately crazy because you’re… You’re you and I’m--. I’m yours. However you want me. If that means we forget this conversation ever happened and go back to how it was before all of this, I’m okay with that, but I just… I had to tell you because I came really fucking close to never getting another chance to.” Rodney is quiet, doesn’t say anything but after a moment, John can feel the other’s hand brush against his own before he
squeezes two of John’s fingers. “I think that’s the most I’ve ever heard you say at one time in all the time we’ve known each other.” And John laugh out loud at that, an actual laugh, and as he does, he feels that knot inside of him loosen just a bit. “Which is to say,” Rodney continues, “that I… would very much like to notforget this happened. I… suppose that I’m yours too. Maybe I always have been.” John doesn’t know where they’ll go from here. He’s under no delusions that this will be easy, any of it, but when has it ever been? All that matters though is that they have time now to work through it, to figure it out together. Maybe they’ll fix each other.

Maybe Kids Aren’t So Bad
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x plus size!reader
Summary: Y/N and Bucky have been dancing around their feelings for a while now. They decide to get out of the tower and go to the store. They happen to pass by some kids who are fans of the avengers.
Word Count: 2.3k words
Warnings: Mentions of kidnapping, torture, nightmares, and lots of fluff.
Masterlist!!
Author’s Note: I saw lots of people liked my first fanfic! Soon after I saw people liked the first one, I started writing this one. I hope you all enjoy it because I sure did. Have a great day everyone who reads this! (gif below is not mine!!)
Tumblr media
"Does someone wanna go with me to go grocery shopping?" you asked the others in the tower as you stood behind the island.  Everyone had been awake for about 15 minutes and almost all of them were eating in the kitchen.  A few of them didn't hear you as you didn't say it very loudly.  Tony told you he had things to do, just like him.  Thor and Natasha said they had to train today and go to a mission briefing.  Steve apologized and told you he had to finish and turn in  the report for the mission he got back from yesterday.
Soon Bucky walked into the kitchen.  He looked like he hadn't been sleeping, which you knew very well since you could hear him at night through the walls.  You wanted to comfort him but you were nervous since you didn't know him all that well to begin with.  He had arrived at the tower a few months ago and was very quiet with everyone except Steve.
You couldn't deny that he was an attractive man.  You also had a soft spot for him since you knew what it was like to be alone and scared in some type of lab that kept you against your will.  You had been abducted when you were a teen and had been taken to some type of scary lab where you were injected with chemicals.  The scientist had given you powers that allowed you to control the plants around you.  You could harness energy from them and control them by will.
You could understand Bucky's nightmares and feel the pain in the sound of his screams at night.  You used to have those same screams and nightmares but learned to keep them from keeping you up at night.  You had started meditating, talking to people, training to release all your anger, finding hobbies that distracted you, and even simple things such as writing it down to then burn the paper you wrote it on.
You watched as he sat down at one of the island chairs.  Most of the avengers had already left the room by the time he sat down.  You looked at him and gave him a soft smile.  "Morning, Bucky. Would you like some coffee?" you asked him in a soft voice, watching his ocean blue eyes move across your form.  "Yes, please…" he replied in a tired but sweet voice.  You grabbed the mug he used most of the time and filled it with coffee.  He watched how you got everything right about his coffee, down to how much he would naturally fill it.
He was surprised and yet amazed you paid that much attention to him.  "Here you go."  You handed Bucky his coffee, and he grabbed it with his right hand, gently grazing your fingers as he held the handle.  He watched your eyes when your hands grazed.  He thought he saw something there sparkling in your eyes but wasn't sure as you turned away to get him something to eat.  You turned to grab him something to eat as well as to hide your light blush from your fingers grazing.
You took another minute to turn back around so the blush could cool from your cheeks.  Handing him a protein bar, you picked up the cup of tea you had made yourself earlier.  "I wanted to ask if you wanted to get out of the tower and go to the grocery store with me?"  Bucky looked into your eyes as he thought about if he was up for it.  He had to think not because it was you, but because he was scared of people seeing him and running.  He hardly left the tower unless it was for missions or on the off chance he needed clothes to wear.
"Sure, Y/N. I think that would be good.  It's a nice day out, and we can hang out together as we don't normally hang out."  He spoke with a soft smile on his lips, taking another drink from his coffee.  You smiled happily and nodded towards him.  "Alright then! It's a date! I'll let you eat, and I have to do a few things before we go out.  I'll meet you in the lobby around 12?" you asked, walking towards the end of the island, making your way to the hallway.  "It's a date.' Bucky agreed and smiled back, watching you walk off.
~Time Skip~
It had been about an hour since Y/N and Bucky said they would meet up in the lobby for their 'date'.  You had been nervously pacing around your room after you heard the word date fell off of Bucky's lips. You didn't know what to do or wear. Well, you had an idea of what you would wear, but would it make you weird? Finally, you decided on a cute sundress since it was sunny and warm outside. You fixed your hair, put on light makeup (or no makeup if you don't wear any), and picked out your comfy pair of vans. Looking at yourself in the mirror, you let out a sigh and thought you were trying too hard to look cute for Bucky. "Why am I dressing like we are actually going on a date?" You asked yourself aloud and towards the mirror.
You grabbed your phone and looked at the time, grabbing your small purse while walking out the door. Making your way to the elevator, Bucky stepped out of his room in a pair of comfy clothes. He was wearing a navy blue shirt with some light blue jeans. He tried to look nice like you did. He had brushed his hair back some and looked relaxed. He soon noticed you and gave you a smile, the one that usually melts you into a puddle.
"Oh hey, Doll…  Wow  You look so pretty…" he tells you softly as you walk up towards him. "You look pretty handsome yourself." you replied, shyly smiling as you both walked towards the elevator.  "I have a list on my phone of what we need to get for everyone.  I was also thinking of cooking and baking tonight for everyone." you told Bucky as you turned on your phone.  "What were you planning on cooking?" he asked, pressing the button for the lobby.
"Hmm…  I don't know just yet.  I was thinking of making something called Beef Tripe soup. It's a famous dish in Romania, and I've always wanted to travel to Romania, or well anywhere that isn't here in the United States." You rambled a little as you rode the elevator with Bucky.  "Sorry... I love to cook and bake.  I grew up baking and cooking with my mom before I was kidnapped."  You smiled as you reminisced about your memories with your mother.  "Doll, it's ok.  You can ramble to me.  I enjoy hearing from you talking about food and different recipes."  He then took in the last sentence that you were kidnapped.  Steve had briefly mentioned you had been kidnapped but never went any further than that.  "If you don't mind me asking, how were you kidnapped?"  He was curious but didn't want to bring up any painful memories the kidnapping had created for you.
"Well, I was at home and working on homework for school, boring, I know."  You chuckled and thought back to it.  "I remember sitting at my desk and having my earbuds in.  I realized it was around maybe 10 pm, and I was hungry for a small snack.  So, I went downstairs with my earbuds still in my ears.  As I made my way to the kitchen, I felt someone or something looking at me.  I turned around to see a guy in all black.  He ran towards me before I could scream for help.  He knocked me out and took me to this disgusting lab, had me strapped on an old medical operating table."
Bucky listened to you, pissed beyond belief that someone kidnapped a random girl from her house.  Let alone the fact that you were only a teenager when you got kidnapped, which made his blood boil.  You continued, not noticing Bucky's face.  "For years, he would test on me, come up with new experiments and chemicals to put into my body.  Finally, one day after he said he found 'the perfect formula,' he tested it on me.  After hours of being in excruciating pain, I found out that I could control plants…  There was a weed growing in front of the small window he kept in his lab.  It was the only window that had access to sunlight.  I remember him beating me, and as I was begging him to stop, the plant grew larger as if it felt my pain and came to help me."
"It kept growing as he kept beating me into submission so he could test more chemicals on me.  After what felt like an hour of beating me up, the plant managed to become this massive accumulation of weeds, flowers, leaves, and any other plant material it could find.  It made its way to the man and wrapped around him, pulling him away from me. The plants started strangling him.  He eventually lost consciousness and once the plant realized he was passed out, it started wilting slowly and soon died.  You could say my pain was what caused the plants to save me."
Bucky was watching you in awe, though he seemed upset (at the man, never you) at your story. "Wow, Doll…  I can't believe that happened to you.  I'm so sorry." he told you, and you gently took his metal arm and held his hand, smiling softly up at him.  "Thank you, Buck.  I really appreciate it.  It took some time to get over it and the pain of the nightmares, but I'm stronger than I used to be because of it."  You let go of his hand when the elevator dinged to let you know you made it to the lobby.
You both walked out of the elevator and to the grocery store that was around the block.  You walked in casual silence and grabbed a shopping cart once you entered the small store.  Bucky helped you get everything on the list and a few ton of other things you didn't really need but was requested by the other avengers.  After what felt like a long time, you and Bucky finally finished shopping and headed towards the checkout section.
As you and Bucky made your way over to the checkout section, you both heard soft gasps from behind you.  You both then heard whispering that sounded like it belonged to some children.  "Is that really him, Charlie?!"  "It has to be Dante!!"  Soon, the sound of running could be heard coming from behind you and Bucky.  You looked towards Bucky to see if he heard it as well.  He had.  As you both turned around, you saw two young kids that looked to be around 6 or 7, running towards you both.
The two kids, Charlie and Dante, you assumed, stopped in front of you.  They look up with awe on their faces at you and Bucky.  "Mr. Winter Soldier??" The little boy asks Bucky with a bright smile on his face.  "Uh.. yes?" he asks as he moves to stand on one knee before the little boy.  "Can I have your autograph??  Please, Mr. Winter Soldier!  You're my favorite superhero!!"  Bucky was taken back at the boy's words.  "O-oh sure!"  He was excited that a young child wanted his autograph after everything he's done as the winter soldier.  He grabbed a piece of paper and a pen, writing Dante a note before signing it.
Bucky handed Dante the note with a smile. Immediately after he gave Dante the signed paper, Dante gave Bucky a big hug. "Thank you so much, Mr. Winter Soldier!!" Dante told him happily and ran over to his mom.  Charlie was talking with Y/N the whole time Bucky was with Dante.  "Ms. Y/L/N?" She shyly asked you while tugging on your dress lightly.  "Yes, hun?" you asked with a smile and moved down to her eye level.  "Are you Mr. Winter Soldier's girlfriend?"  You blushed dark, and your eyes widened at Charlie's words.
"Uh… well, that's a complicated sweetheart.  Maybe one day." you tell Charlie, and she smiles brightly and squeals, running off to her mom and brother.  Bucky, thankfully, didn't hear you tell Charlie you hoped to be his girlfriend one day.  After you talked with the kids, you paid for all your groceries and walked back to the tower.
"Hey, Doll?" Bucky asked, looking at you as you walked beside each other on the street.  "Yes, Bucky?" you replied, glancing at him before turning your head to look in front of you.  "What did that little girl ask you? I heard her say something, but I couldn't make it out." he asked you curiously, having wondered since they left the grocery store a few minutes ago.  "Oh yeah. She did ask me something.." you said softly as you kept walking, not telling him as you were scared he wouldn't like you back.
"Y/N, was it something bad?  Something that made you think of past memories?"  He stopped you in the middle of the sidewalk, gently grabbed your hand.  "No, no, Bucky, I promise!  It's just… embarrassing…"  He tilted his head like a confused puppy looking at you.  You took a minute before you let out a sigh.  "She asked me… if I was your girlfriend."  You looked away for a second before looking back at him.
"Oh... " he mumbled out softly and looked away from your gaze.  You were scared that he would reject you, but you had no time to react as he said, "Well, would you like to be?"  Your eyes widened, and you blinked a few times.  It took you a minute to come back with a response.  You soon found yourself smirking, asking him, "Why don't you take me on a date first, Barnes?"  You took your hand out of his and walked into the Avengers tower, feeling confident in yourself.  As you left Bucky on the sidewalk to walk into the tower, you heard an excited Barnes exclaim, "Finally!"  You giggled as you continued into the tower.

Cod(a) Monkey
Forgot to post this earlier. Epilogue to my Half-life story Code Monkey , which is a 90s stoner comedy flick except Black Mesa. Probably understandable without it, though. Not canon to that story, but consider it a sort of alt ending.
Written because my friend was upset that Barney and Gordon never got that beer, so it’s dedicated to @magickkart. The Half Life 2 story is still in the works! It’ll be a bit long.
Rest under the cut.
“I don’t feel pain,” Gordon said. “So no. But I went to a concert, and it was very heavy on bass and drums. Good vibrations. Kind of like a gun’s vibrations, but more purposeful.”
“The symphony of violence,” Barney said with a straight face, using the sign for ‘abuse’ and passing the finger past the fist very empathetically, several times, as he always did whenever he felt the need to describe the way Gordon killed things. “Is the mosh pit where you learned the Rambo thing?”
“Sure, Barney. Sure it is.”
“Because I really don’t think you were born a superpowered killing machine -”
“There’s no superpowers involved. I really don’t know how else to explain it to you.”
“You cannot just be a genetic assassin -”
“Guns aren’t hard, Barney. You just press A.”
“What does that mean -”
“What I don’t understand,” Barney said that night, over clammy mugs of beer and sticky wooden tables, “is what Black Mesa was going to do with the world once they took it over. I mean, they were already a shadowy government agency in the most powerful government in the world with unlimited funding that basically did whatever they wanted. What were they going to do, increase our salaries?”
If it wasn’t for the fact that Barney had learned a lot of esoteric vocabulary just to be able to talk to Gordon for hours about his alien and Illuminati conspiracy theories, Gordon reflected, then they really would have been in trouble at Black Mesa.
“That would have been nice,” Gordon said contemplatively, gently sipping at his beer. He was far from a lightweight, but he had to be careful not to overdrink when he went out with Barney. Guy could drink the entire bar under the table and barely even get dizzy. It was almost unnerving, and raised the question of if anybody who was an ex-employee at Black Mesa was a normal human being, but some Pandora’s Boxes should just stay shut. “I liked my salary.”
“Yeah.” Barney sadly chugged more beer. “I’m not going to miss that job, but I feel like I’m going to miss having a job, you know?”
Mittens licked one of the onion rings sitting in a basket on the table. Gordon stroked Mittens on her head as she pressed up against his hand affectionately.
This wasn’t their usual bar. Their usual bar was on Black Mesa property, and Black Mesa was currently having a bad case of the crabs right now. When Gordon casually mentioned that to Barney his shoulders started shaking from laughter, but he refused to explain what was funny. So far, Gordon already missed their old bar. It was well-lit, making it easy to talk, completely sterile and anti-bacterial, and had hazardous waste bins. And everyone always knew your name.
But it wasn’t too bad, for a random bar. They let Gordon and Barney sit on the patio with Mittens in a secluded corner, and it was well enough lit that they could still talk. Random people kept on staring at them, sometimes for an uncomfortable amount of time, and while Gordon was fairly used to it Barney wasn’t. Barney had hesitantly asked if it was because the white lab coat Gordon still wore was dyed half-red with blood, but as that was the natural state of a theoretical physicist’s labcoat Gordon really didn’t see the issue.
“What other job can I even get?” Barney griped. “My degree isn't good for anything. I was just a rent-a-cop for the last three years. I’m homeless, at least for right now, since my dorm is infested with murderous aliens. I can’t even go back there to get my stuff until the military kills off all the aliens. This sucks.”
“It’s a common Gen X problem,” Gordon said, with a straight face as he scratched Mittens’ ruff. Her purr vibrated happily under his hand. “Divorce, MTV, and reduced adult supervision made us incomplete adults.”
“I miss MTV,” Barney said. “Man, that was just like, high school. The memories, man. We’ll never get the 80s back.”
“I was never really into MTV.”
“Really? You never watched it? Not even for the babes?”
“I never really understood the appeal of babes,” Gordon said, with a straight face.
“Yeah, I forgot, sorry.” They sat there for a little bit, not talking, as Barney both chugged his beer and seemed to be thinking really hard about something. Finally, he said, “Cute dudes on MTV too. Like, uh...Prince.”
“Prince.”
“Michael Jackson, you know.”
“Yeah, I know Michael Jackson.” Gordon gently freed an onion ring from the cold embrace of Mittens. “College roommate at MIT showed me Nirvana, actually. I liked it.”
“Really? I can see that. Very inner pain.” Barney squinted at Gordon. “Do you have inner pain?”
It was at that moment that a waitress, looking somewhat startled by Barney’s incredibly expressive and sweeping signing, approached them and asked Barney something. They chatted for a bit - judging by Barney’s smile and the woman’s easy grin, he was flirting with her again, like he did with every waitress.
“She wants to know if you want a refill,” Barney reported.
Barney tilted his fist, pushing the mug that he hadn’t realized was empty to the waitress and giving her his best polite smile, which made her flinch in fear and take the cup, disappearing quickly. Was it the lab coat, or was Gordon really just that bad at looking polite?
“But you’re changing the subject,” Barney said, when she ran off, seemingly uncaring that Gordon had torpedoed his flirting attempts. “Why would Black Mesa make a deal with the alien armies to take over the world? And what musicians did you have a crush on as a kid?”
“That question is so esoteric and obscure that the answer is almost unfathomable.”
“Stop using complicated signs, asshole, this is my fourth language.” After a second of translation, Barney followed that up with, “Okay, which question was that in response to?”
“Yes.”
“Now you’re just being an asshole,” Barney accused, and Gordon surprised himself by barking a laugh.
“Maybe I am an asshole,” Gordon teased, unfamiliar with the concept but willing to give it a shot, “but I’m your asshole.”
For some reason, that made Barney flush very red, and finish his beer very quickly before moving Mittens aside to stuff some onion rings in his mouth. Finally, after Barney seemed to collect himself, he weakly offered, “Never thought I’d see Gordon Freeman admit that we were friends.”
“Some things you can’t experience together without admitting that you’re friends, and defeating an alien hoard is one of them,” Gordon joked. Wow. Two jokes in one day. Might as well put on the face paint and the red nose, he was becoming a comedian. Maybe all of the crowbars to the skull had cracked him.
But Barney just squinted at him. “Are you quoting something?”
“That kid’s book that everyone’s talking about?”
“What?” Barney snapped his fingers in thought, before lighting up. “Oh, Harry Potter! I keep meaning to check that out. My little sister keeps talking about it.”
“They’re pretty good.” Gordon read it in case someone asked him what bonding activities he did with his fake son. “I’ll lend you my copy.”
“When your dorm’s no longer full of aliens.”
“Yeah. When my dorm isn’t full of aliens.”
“But that’ll be soon,” Barney said, smiling hesitantly and hopefully and fearfully, “right?”
“You know, Barney,” Gordon said, picking up Mittens and putting her in his lap as she purred gratefully, “I really think all of this will just blow over. And everything’ll go back to normal.”
“That’s good to know.”
And it was.

No More Promises
Mark/Donghyuck
Genre: Mafia/Neo Tech AU
Warning: Revelations, Manipulation
Words: 1.4K
Chapters:
One | Two | Three | Four | Five | Six | Seven | Eight | Nine | Ten | Epilogue
Prompt: Donghyuck had spent all his life on the streets, over the years making a family out of other random strays he came across. He did his best to look after them, that is until Mark came into his life. The boy was like a gift, being able to provide and look after all of them. It was wonderful, at first anyway. Things quickly got complicated as Mark got involved in all kinds of dangerous things in order to keep a promise, one of many promises. This eventually tore them apart, Hyuck’s little family leaving Mark in the wind after another broken promise. They did the best they could on their own, that is until Mark finds his way back into their life. He made another promise, to someone who would absolutely make sure he kept it.

“Our abilities are a genetic anomaly, but not everyone has it.” Hendery began to explain. “And it can lay dormant for our entire lifetime unless we activate it.”
“The idiot here was screwing around in his lab and discovered this by accident.” Jungwoo added. “I thought he was gonna die.”
“Well I didn’t! Instead I got amazing powers. Once I began running tests and going over what happened to me, I knew I could replicate the results.”
“Why?” Haechan asked. “Why would you want to do that considering what your little test actually does!”
“Who doesn’t want superpowers? It’s like the next step in our evolution.”
“And what if the powers you get suck? What can you do?”
“Me? I can see the future.”
“… bullshit…”
“The proper word is clairvoyance, but people always ask what that is, so best to just be simple.”
“If you can really see the future, why even have your like… phase one or whatever for your serum, wouldn’t you now who can get powers and what they’d be?”
“Do you have any idea how much energy that’d take? Besides, the first phase can detect whether powers are possible or not, it’s harmless.”
“And the second phase?”
“Well… it does take something drastic to activate these powers. But no one has died!”
“Yet. I am not letting you put my boys through your little science experiments!”
“Don’t they get a say?”
“You’ve already taken way the choice! As if you’d just let them go if you discover they have potential… not like you’re gonna let any of us go anyway.”
“Oh, right, Ten said he was going to be straight with you. Well then, you’ve got potential for sure, have you noticed any changes recently?”
“Changes?”
“Yeah, your powers should be developing.”
“What!”
“I thought you were told everything.”
“Not that!”
“Oh… my bad…”
“Yeah, your bad.” Ten hissed. “But since it’s out now, might as well mention my powers don’t work on him.”
“Seriously? The only other person who’s immune to your control is Taeil…”
“I know, had to use Jaehyun as an example to prove we have powers.”
“Wait…” Haechan interrupted. “Does Mark… does he have powers?”
“Yeah but he doesn’t know it.” Jungwoo said. “Ten made him ignore any signs of it until they figure out what to do with him.”
“So… what can he do?”
“I believe the term is technopath. He can talk to machines and make them do what he wants, he can basically hack any piece of tech.”
“And he doesn’t… he doesn’t know…”
“Considering his powers, he needs to trust us before we let him have the ability to go through all our files without telling us.”
“So he doesn’t trust you.”
“We don’t trust him, not entirely, and not yet. That’s why you being here is so important.”
“Why? Want us all to be one big happy family again and join you?”
“You’re already part of the family.” Ten assured. “We just need to be on the same page. Now I’d rather not use my powers on your family, given that you’re immune somehow.”
“So now you’re making threats.”
“I just want us all to get along.”
“And how am I gonna do that when we’re your lab rats? You took us off the streets and think we’re your property now.”
“Are you going to try and run then? Think about the possibilities. You will have powers, whether you like it or not, and the signs will start showing in a few days. If you leave, are you sure you won’t accidentally hurt your precious kids?”
“I-”
Haechan didn’t want to think about that, to think about how they’ve trapped him. Instead of answering he stormed out of the lab. He didn’t know where he was going but he just wanted to get away from them, even if for a little bit.
“Him being immune doesn’t help us.” Hendery commented. “What are we going to do?”
“Look over the kids, I want to know who has potential and who doesn’t. Those who do, move on to phase two as soon as possible.”
“They’re still young, speeding up the process-”
“You can see the future Hendery, so figure out which one of them can get powers. Actually, figure out Haechan’s power too. It’s best to know what we’ll be dealing with sooner than later.”
“Fine, but I want Taeyong’s approval first.”
“Seriously?”
“He needs to know what I’m peeking into the future for. Besides, you know I might see other things.”
“Right. I’ll contact him after I deal with Haechan.”
Tn left the lab and went looking for Haechan, finding him roaming the halls, clearly lost. He chuckled to himself and slowly approached.
“You’ll understand the layout eventually.”
“Whatever.”
“So… what have the kids said? About this place?”
“I don’t know, haven’t you all been talking to them? Trying to convince them to convince me to stay?”
“Maybe…”
“What even is your goal?”
“Hm?”
“Are you going to give everyone powers?”
“Well… no, not everyone can have powers.”
“So you’ll monetize it?”
“We’re using our powers for good.”
“Mind control can easily be used for evil, convince your competition to back down and what not.”
“Which is why I don’t do negotiations. Taeyong handles all business stuff, and mind control isn’t his power.”
“So what is?”
“Teleportation. He doesn’t have an advantage in the conference room, he’s a legit CEO and businessman.”
“But surely he can have a certain someone look into the future. No wonder you guys have never had scandal or bad investment.”
“Touché. Although you have to admit having powers is pretty cool.”
“Says the guy who can get whatever he wants.”
“Not from everyone.”
“Right… lucky me.”
“Very lucky you, but what about the others? Don’t you think you deserve better? After all you’ve been through.”
“You think this is better?”
“You have a home, a family, roof over your head, food on the table. What’s not good about that?”
“You forget about the price there is to pay for all that.”
“Is it really a price to pay when you’ll be benefiting from it?”
“You forget how this all came to be.”
“Perhaps… look, I’m being honest with you, no more secrets. Trying to run is pointless, and even if you do escape, we’ll find you.”
“Really? Didn’t it take you three years to track us down?”
“No. Sicheng actually found you guys a long time ago. We kept tabs on you, and just waited for Mark to be ready for a reunion. It went well don’t you think?”
Haechan scoffed. “Sure it did.”
“I do want us all to be friends, but I will remind you that your kids aren’t immune to my power, and I’d hate to tug at your heartstrings.”
“Is that the only threat you can make?”
“I say it’s more of a warning. Come on, let’s get you back to your boys.”
Haechan reluctantly followed Ten, he didn’t like him, but he needed to get back. Once Haechan was back with his family Ten went off on his own, making a call to Taeyong and telling him what transpired. Of course Taeyong was upset over Ten being honest, but it couldn’t be helped, and he did agree to Hendery looking into the future so they can be prepared. He’d want an update as soon as the results came in too.
Over time Hendery had gotten the hang of his powers, but his visions are mostly beyond his control. It took a few hours, but he had what he wanted, Jungwoo at his side taking notes and adding to the boys’ files. By the end of the day Ten had his report, looking it over in his office. Johnny and Doyoung were present as well, caught up on the situation, and looking at the results.
“Well…” Johnny began. “This is quite interesting. A colorful variety of potential, don’t you think?”
“Colorful? More like dangerous.” Doyoung added. “Are you looking at the powers these boys will develop?”
“At least we know so we can assign them a proper mentor.”
“But who should we activate first?” Ten questioned. “Haechan’s power is easily manageable, it won’t sway him from wanting to leave.”
“Well the choice is between two.” Doyoung said. “Although I think one is more chaotic in a grounded sense. Easier to deal with, but is it a good idea to speed things up?”
“According to Hendery they’ll be fine.” Johnny reminded. “So there’s nothing to worry about.”
“The future can change, especially if we push them too soon.”
“Only one way to find out.”

Do you have any random Sephiroth headcanons? I love your art and just want to see what you headcanon for them (I do know about how you headcanon that Sephy is nonbinary)
Oh!! Thank you!! I have many of these haha nonbinary, gay, verse, neuroatypical (depressed, autistic)Thanks to his alien biology he craves strange minerals and can and will eat just about anything including household chemicals
Predator-like biology tics, the dilating eyes the keen sense of smell the compulsion to eat cloud and nap in a sunspot
he’s weird, he’s very socially strange he isn’t suave or even all that confident in anything save for his fighting prowess which, as the only thing he’s ever been praised and conditioned for, he’s convinced is his only worth to potential friends so the first thing he does is show off (like when he rescued Zack from Ifrit)
if he wasn’t born in a lab and cursed with military conditioning he’d probably be out doing something creative.
He’s the constant subject of propaganda, being a hero is meaningless to him and he sincerely cannot understand why Genesis grows so jealous. Shinra just points him in a direction and he takes care of the obstacle.
He’s directionless and doesn’t really know much about himself or what his identity should be because of it. He keeps hitching his identity to other people, to abstract ideas that come back to hurt him when those people abandon him (cough, genesis angeal) so latching on to Jenova was easy, safe, provided him a purpose he’d been lacking, made him feel important when everyone in his life had either participated in the conspiracy against him, abandoned him or took him for granted
all of the angelic imagery he adapted and the rebranding of his monstrosity didn’t come from Jenova, he’d been interested in religious iconography and mythology beforehand
He’s so keen to shed everything about his former identity because once he realized he’d been played by everyone around him he felt weak for having been so kind and soft to people who would take advantage of him. He’s tried to dump all traces of his former life, that one AC novel mentions him shedding memories of his former friends once he was defeated by Cloud as if they were no longer useful to him. But it turned out he’d lost too much, since he wasn’t able to manifest outside of the lifestream, he’d forgotten what he even looked like. So the remnants, Kadaj, Loz, Yazoo, all represent different aspects of his fractured identity but they also superficially mirror the friends he lost (Angeal with Loz’s use of hand to hand combat, his side burns, etc., Kadaj’s hair and BPD personality is close to Genesis) because really, who Sephiroth was before is still important in some deeply tragic way
He suspected Hojo was his father, even before reading the reports in the library basement which I am convinced wouldn’t have excluded information regarding his bioparents. He just tossed all of that out the window because they were just a part of a greater evil that had nonconsensually experimented on him and created him to be some kind of mako detector so they could ravage what he thought was his ancestral right. He wasn’t about to hitch his identity up to that when Jenova is right there, another perceived victim of Shinra’s crimes
speaking of Jenova there’s no way he doesn’t know she’s not an Ancient after he’s spent time marinading in the lifestream and absorbing all that knowledge. He even shifts his game plan, his “promised land” becomes his ascension to godhood and the total absorption of the lifestream so that he can sandbox mode the whole planet. I’m not a fan of the ‘if only sephiroth knew X or Y maybe he could be talked down’ takes. He knew, he just doesn’t care. The crucial times where Sephiroth could have been helped are long since past, unfortunately he was doomed from the start.
I could go on for YEARS talking about this stuff haha but I’ll stop before I write a novel or a character study

The Meaning of Saïx’s Scar
Tumblr media
A sigil is a symbol you create with the intention of changing your reality in accordance with your will. All sigils are encoded with a specific purpose, for example, to attract a romantic partner, to set strong boundaries, to be more financially prosperous – the possibilities are limitless. While sigils were used in the past to symbolize and conjure up spirits, these days, sigils are used in a personal way to symbolically represent and manifest our own desires.
Tumblr media
The Recusant’s Sigil is based on Greek letter chi. In Kingdom Hearts lore, the meaning is “death” and “endings”. But it’s not just a letter. It’s a magic symbol.
Tumblr media
The Recusant’s Sigil (異端の印 Itan no shirushi, lit. “Mark of heresy”) is a symbol designed by Xehanort to represent the rejection of a Nobody from his original persona. It is incorporated into the new names of each of the original members of Organization XIII, and is derived from Xehanort’s sleeping memories of the χ-blade.
It was placed in each member’s name to represent the rejection of their original self. Since each member was to become a vessel for Xehanort’s heart and mind, the original persona needed to die.
Tumblr media
Sigils are essentially like little seeds that are planted within the unconscious mind. Many things enter the depths of our minds, but not all of them are placed there intentionally or take root. The symbolic nature of the sigil also helps bypass the rational (skeptical) mind and enter the unconscious where possibilities are endless.
Tumblr media
This might be why a simple symbol on Sora’s clothing had such a powerful effect on him. The “X” was on the clothing of Terra, Aqua, and Ven and also Riku in KH1.
Tumblr media
What gives sigils their power is the energy and intention behind them – and that is what helps them to sprout and blossom into manifestation. They are activated by meditation.
Tumblr media
This is probably why Sora’s Nobody (who, according to Nomura, was born with Ventus’s heart) was made to stare at the Recusant’s Sigil when he was given his new identity as “Roxas,” an anagram of “Sora” with an “X”. It was to subconsciously program him to stay unaware.
Tumblr media
Roxas was a very worthy candidate for the New Organization XIII.
Tumblr media
He was a good candidate due to his lack of self-awareness. But eventually he became too aware of himself and could no longer be used.
Tumblr media
Buzz was afraid of losing his self-awareness and attacking his friends. And that’s exactly what happened.
Tumblr media
At the Kid Corral, where Buzz was taken when he was possessed, Xehanort revealed that empty puppets can be given strong hearts. Apparently, the Toy Box was the world where he first learned to create vessels.
Tumblr media
Secret Report 4: Experiments of the Heart – Notes on Subject X, Excerpt 2
Subject's memories have not returned, and our conversations remain less than lucid. My pilot studies used a handful of subjects, but none possessed the fortitude to endure them. Ultimately, all suffered mental collapse. I knew it would be a heavy blow to lose a subject as unique as she. Upon discovering the tests I've been conducting, my master demanded that I cease my work immediately and destroy what research I have compiled. Worse still, he ordered the release of my remaining subjects. She is gone. Where is Subject X now?
This is also the world where the report on Subject X is located, and it’s also at the Kid Corral. Subject X had no memories and was not lucid. It took a week for them to speak their first words, like Roxas. That means they lacked self-awareness, like Roxas did at fist. This would make them a very worthy candidate for a vessel, like Roxas.
Tumblr media
Empty husks? Is he saying they’re going to break them with sorrow and put another heart into them…? Or did they already do it?
“Translation—they were gonna turn all the members into Xehanort.”
“X” represents the clash of pure light vs. pure darkness. A vessel needs to be suitable to contain Xehanort’s heart of pure of darkness, so only the strongest hearts will suffice.
The letter χ can be pronounced both "key" and "kye" (leading to some confusion) and symbolizes the perfect crossing of light and darkness. The χ-blade can be forged via a high-dimensional clash between those two poles. It is believed that the Recusant's Sigil also derives from χ.
Such a heart is rare and valuable. Even most of the original organization was unworthy. A vessel would need to be broken by sorrow, but its heart could not totally collapse. It’s only natural that Xehanort would want to use such a unique subject as his vessel.
Tumblr media
“As your flesh bears the sigil, so your name shall be known as that of a recusant.”
And the name “X” fits this concept perfectly. The experiments involved the darkness of the heart. All the subjects’ hearts collapsed. Subject X was the only exception.
I could not even recall my name. I was simply called "X" there.
Isa probably was given his scar at the same time he was given his new name, which happened to him as a human. He was no longer Isa, or even Saïx, but “X”.
Tumblr media
“I’ll put the sigil of the recusant into your name once more,” Xemnas said.
Sigil of the recusant…? What’s that?
In the Japanese version, Xemnas actually doesn’t say anything to Sora about his flesh bearing the sigil. He says he’ll put the sigil into his name once more. And that actually makes a lot more sense. I don’t know why he said it to Sora in the English version. Maybe it was an error and that was actually a line meant for BBSV2 and Isa? I’m not sure. But it does fit Isa a lot more than Sora.
Tumblr media
Sigils are activated by focusing on the desired outcome. But it’s important to use strong phrasing. Instead of saying “I want”, you say “I am". This ingrains it into your subconscious more readily.
Tumblr media
Xemnas spoke like that to Roxas while he was in his trance-like state. He told him he felt nothing...
Tumblr media
...and that nothing was real. He left no ambiguity about it. It’s a form of programming he likely did to all the Nobodies he recruited, which is why they had such a strong belief that they felt nothing, despite evidence to the contrary.
Tumblr media
Xemnas didn’t say that he wanted Roxas to be a new person.
Tumblr media
He told him that he was a new person. He was no longer Sora or Ventus---he was Roxas. Roxas held many of Sora’s memories inside of him, as did Xion. When they combined, they would create a complete Sora Replica.
Tumblr media
Besides meditation, there are other, darker, methods of sigil activation, like in the use of black magic. Sexual climax is mentioned in reference to ritual sex magic. Sex magic is most potent at the time of orgasm, since that its when the energies of the two (or more) parties resonate the most strongly. But that isn’t really something a series like Kingdom Hearts focuses on, obviously. Another type of method involves pain.
Tumblr media
If Roxas’s sigil was activated by meditation, I think Isa’s sigil was activated by pain. And receiving such a scar would be obviously be physically painful. It definitely was carved deeply into his face. These dark undertones are what made Saïx/Isa such an interesting character to me.
Tumblr media
The scar is located directly over his “mind’s eye.”
Tumblr media
It’s a good place to put the sigil when you are trying to get the subject to lose self-awareness---to renounce its sense of self. In a way, receiving the scar may have been a way of programming him to stay mindless and empty. And it’s why he cannot see Xion.
Tumblr media
Xemnas’s goal was to conquer the human heart and claim it as his own. And I think this is what he did to Subject X, which is why Isa was the first non-apprentice organization member, and one of the first vessels, along with Braig. Braig was special because he wanted to be a vessel. Isa was just Xehanort’s lab rat.
Tumblr media
When Xemnas was telling Sora about the mind control experiments, he said he learned of the heart’s folly.
Tumblr media
Which is similar to what he said on Day 95 during his speech.
Tumblr media
“That which we treasure has power over us, Roxas. His heart is captive to it. And that makes it his weakness.”
Day 95 takes place at the Beast’s Castle. Every time Roxas goes there, it’s to figure out the Beast’s motivation for fighting. Roxas simply wants to understand the heart, but Xaldin wants to figure out the Beast’s weakness. And after Roxas goes there, he always talks to Axel afterwards. The heart has power over you when you hold something dear.
Tumblr media
I think the reason the Beast was chosen to parallel Axel was because of Lea and Isa’s past. The Beast is cursed, he is a character that has anger and rage which is analogous to Saïx’s berserk state, and the key to breaking the spell over him is love.
Tumblr media
Xaldin thought the rose was the Beast’s weakness. But it wasn’t. It was wanting to protect the people in the castle, especially Belle.
Tumblr media
I think Nomura is a smart guy and knew exactly what he was writing.
Tumblr media
I don’t think it ever would have been made explicit or unambiguously canon in a series like Kingdom Hearts. But I do think that in the writer’s room at least, the understanding was that Isa and Lea had romantic feelings for each other. This was hinted at in a subtle manner. Isa’s love for Lea and his desire to protect him was his weakness, which got him turned into a vessel. This was supposed to be the surprising twist that would make Isa worthy to be in the epilogue. Not the fact that he was looking for a random girl or that he got Roxas a vessel. He deserved to be redeemed by his own merits.
Tumblr media
In 358/2 Days, the Beast wanted to protect the people he cared about. He desired love more than anything.
Tumblr media
This was used as his weakness to get him to fall to darkness. Xaldin told him that he’d never find love and this made him angry and full of rage.
Tumblr media
He became full of darkness and lost control of himself, like Buzz did and he attacked his friends without realizing it.
Tumblr media
Husks that had been made to throw away their hearts—in other words, they were going to plant another heart into those who couldn’t bear the pain…? Or, did they actually do that?
“They were going to turn all the Organization members into Xehanort.”
Lea was Isa’s weakness.
Tumblr media
He was the key to causing Isa the most sorrow, sadness, and pain, which could then be turned into mindless rage. The Beast’s pain was feeling like a monster unworthy of love. For Isa, I think it was loneliness and the pain of losing Lea.
Tumblr media
Although the Beast was under Xaldin’s dark influence, he was also acting on his own subconscious feelings. He was in a trance when he went on a rampage. But deep down, all he wanted was to protect his servants, which is why locked them in the dungeon.
Tumblr media
I think Lea got his tear marks as a Nobody. When the manga zoomed in on them, Axel was thinking about harming Kairi. Without a heart, he never had to worry about feeling inner conflict or doubt about what he needed to do to achieve his goals. That’s why I think his tears represent his willingness to give up his heart, so he could get his best friend back. They also represent his pain over everything he lost as a Nobody. His life, his heart, his freedom, and his best friend.
Tumblr media
Since Isa still had his scar when he was recompleted, he must have gotten it as a human. The manga also does a close-up of Saïx’s scar, giving a hint to its true meaning. It happened right after the scene of Axel’s tear mark, actually.
Tumblr media
Saïx was hunting Axel down and then became extremely enraged, saying that Axel’s desire for friendship was based on an illusion created by his memories.
Tumblr media
I think Saïx was subjected to the same little speech Roxas was after becoming a Nobody. He thought he never felt anything.
Tumblr media
But like with Axel, he also became enraged at Roxas.
Tumblr media
He says something very similar to what he told Axel, too. Isa’s purpose as a human was protecting Lea. Saïx remembers this. If Isa received his scar while Xehanort was trying to inflict the most pain possible on him, it makes sense that Lea was involved. What would hurt Isa the most is losing the thing he treasures most---which is Lea. I think it's why Saïx felt such resentment towards Axel when he made new friends, and ESPECIALLY when he left the organization. It was Isa's love for Lea that caused him to lose everything. It's understandable that he'd hate Axel if he thought he turned his back on him after all that. He was extremely hurt, even if the feelings were technically not his own.
Tumblr media
His scar is really prominent in these scenes, too.
Tumblr media
Basically, I think that the X-shaped scar represents Isa's physical and emotional pain as Subject X, which was used to break him, capture his heart, and turn him into a vessel during the experiments on the darkness of the heart. They created darkness in Isa using his love for Lea against him. The "X" also represents the "death" of Isa.

On the topic of those kh3 secret reports regarding KHUx
(khux talk, kh3 spoilers)
Subject X was likely to be Skuld. But Ava could be a possibility too. My thoughts:
Secret Report 1 is written by them but they cannot recall their name or anything else about themself. the clue is 4 friends and a key (including subject would make 5, aka the number of the union leaders) but still not enough evidence. she is caged in a cell.... aka is imprisoned there. They mention that one day a man came to break them out, and although they could not see in the dark they did see the man was wearing an eyepatch... They reveal that years have since passed from the day they were freed but they are still “no closer to understanding who or what I am. May your heart be your guiding key”
prior to this, we know of subject x from kh3 in bits but it’s confirmed she’s a girl. out of the new union leaders Skuld is the only girl. (If it’s not her, that would make it the Foretellers either Ava or Invi). we also learned prior to the reports that she was Ansem the Wise’s “guinea pig” and “lab rat”. which is horrifying.
in secret report 3 it’s written from terra-xehanort’s perspective as a young man apprentice to Ansem the wise. he tells us that subject x has amnesia and had departed her world with her companians but can’t remember their names. he says she’s like him when he arrived, “devoid of memories” and makes an argument as to why she;s perfect for the human experiments.
secret report 4 researcher xehanort hasn’t made much progress with the girl but has been able to deduce the minor tidbit convos “evoke a bygone world, like one out of fairy tales...” This is absolutely refering to khx/kux/daybreak town time period. And it IS in the past. he reveals the other human test subjects he’d been using all had a mental collapse with his experiments.... and when Ansem found out he ordered him to stop and then hid the girl. which goes back to Xemnas/Ansem part in kh3 in twilight town with Ansem the Wise and they are interrogating him about where he hid the girl. it ends with him saying he’ll just use himself for what he has planned...
secret report 5 Isa and Lea sneak into the castle to see the truth about the rumors of the castle. “By night, the muffled sounds of human wails emerged. There was talk of dangerous human experiments” LINES LIKE THIS AND ANSEM’S SOMBERNESS ABOUT HAVING TO ATONE THROUGHOUT KH2 AND KH3 ARE A LOT. About all the children he experimented on. what the fuck. but I digress. what’s important is that they ended up finding her caged up in a cell.
secret report 6 Isa and Lea continue to sneak into the castle just to meet the girl, “that was the only comfort two children like us could offer her.” jesus. they don’t know what she looks like because it’s so dark. one night they decide to act on Lea’s suggestion of breaking her from her prison but when they get there she is gone. they went back many times hoping to find her but to no avail. soon after Isa and Lea decide to become apprentices to Ansem the Wise BUT it’s to find out what happened to the girl. this connects to the way BBS left off with young Isa and Lea after Ven met them.
secret report 11 is clearly Luxu writing. he talks about how he suceeded in the first part of his mission, seeing the keyblade war unfold and is now ready for the next phase: choosing an apprentice from the new union leaders. however there is a problem, he notes that one of them is an imposter and not chosen originally. he describes the imposter as “a virus in the program [the master]  so carefully wrote” He describes as the imposters plans already moving and the reckless plan to do ANOTHER transfer but that bc these new union leaders are kids, and no keyblade masters, and would not be able to pull this off “unless a lady of magic summoned here from the future knows more than I do”. Although the new union leader stuff was supposed to go by the book Luxu wonders if this was all planned by the Master anyway.
prior to this, here is where intimate knowledge of the khux basics becomes important and backcover too. What each foreteller role was, Luxu’s task and the box, etc. KHx and KHUX are not the same. In KHx the keyblade war occured and Master Ava set up the Dandelions. This group of keyblade weilders would TRANSFER OVER to a new world/timeline where the war did not happen. And thus, KHUX was born. However before the end, Foreteller Ava set out find 5 keyblade wielders that were written by the Master as becoming the new union leaders and to inherit their tombs. Their names: Ephamer, Skuld, Ventus, Brain, and Lauriam.... but there was a problem... on the eve of the war, one of the destined new leaders was murdered (her name was Strelizia, and she was Lauriam/Marluxia’s little sister) and thus the imposter took her place and her book.... Now in the timeline of our current game KHUX, “worldline” as Luxu dubs, there is a problem. New union leader Ephemer and Skuld noticed that there’s a new ominous darkness in this worldline we transfered too... So basically Luxu’s entry confirms Ephemer’s feeling by revealing that something BIG is about to happen in KHUX. but just as important, his phrase gave us the clue to figure out who the imposter in KHUX is because the khux jp story update gave us one of the new union leaders calling THEMSELF the virus.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyC3XXcDTS4
secret report 12 Luxu confirms there was a new darkness in the worldline, one that would lead to the demise of the peace we thought we had now in khux bc we avoided the war. He is writing this as whatever darkness is about to happen is taking over this world line, and says that “amid the chaos I bequaethed my keyblade [the No Name] to one of the Union Leaders like the Master instructed and watched as the Five were sent to another worldline--at no small cost--ensuing the line of Keyblade wielders will live on”. He then writes he too will depart soon and cast off his form into a new vessels throughout time in order to continue to watch over the successors of the No Name and wait for the one who will renact the keyblade war and when that happens he will take the stage once more and finish his task....
secret report 13 Luxu writing as Braig/Xigbar says this body and this name will be his last. he notes how successfully the No Name has been passed down and that at last a wielder devoted to darkness arose to take up the mantle. Now instead of passively watching, it’s his time to participate by passing off as an ally to the wielder and playing the part of a fool who just wants a keyblade (the No Name) of his own. He talks about how the Masters gazing eye has been peering into the future through the No Name and himself watching everything come to pass. Luxu says the length in time that has passed is too long for him to express and that all the lives he lived could fill up volumes. The keyblade war will start again and a new true Kingdom Hearts will open. He mentions that he will soon be reunited with his old companions (khx, khux: The Foretellers) and that “in the moment my long vigil ends. He will return”
prior to this, in the epilogue we see that Xigbar confirms himself to be Luxu. and SOMEHOW he was able to summon the foretellers into the future. in khux we assumed them to have perished in the war. however, only 4 Foretellers return. Ava is missing... but Luxu laughs and is not worried about her. It ends with him about to tell him the long story of how he got there and the box he was also tasked to guard is now unlocked....
--------
From this info im deducing it was Skuld because in Secret Report 11 Luxu said he saw the 5 of them off to the next worldline. At a high cost. And hear me out, what if the cost was their bonds, their memories, of their friends and most importantly they lost who they were (amnesia). Their next location could have also been random. Since Skuld is the only girl in the new Union leaders from the era of fairy tales, and test subject x is a girl thats speculated to come from a time already gone-the era of fairy tales-- I think she has a high probability of being Skuld. And of the price each leader had to pay was every thing they had, everything they were, in order to ensure the safety of the remaining keykids. I think that would explain the amnesia. AND I think this could explain how Laurium and Ventus also ended up in the future even though they are also from this era. This makes things kinda interesting on Ven’s side because he ended up unknowlingly being friends with someone who was the forebarer of No Name keyblade aka the keyblade Xehanort was destined to recieve and Ventus ended up being found & apprentieced by him. Only for old Xehanort to break him via heart experiments and split his light and dark sides.
Also it fucks me up that Skuld (or Ava) was being experimented on and imprisoned at Radiant Garden for weeks and disappeared/was hidden away just before Ventus was destined to arrive... and that she was the catalyst for Lea and Isa joining the apprentices.... just to figure out what happened to her only to lead up to their ill fated transformation into nobodies for about half of their lives.
But what of Laurium, Ephamer, and Brain? Which of them was the one Luxu gave No Name too? Did he give it to the imposter anyway? Or not?
However there is a chance that girl could be Ava. The line “May your heart be your guiding key” in the first secret report is a quote I think suits Ava more to hold onto than Skuld especially going of of KHUx backcover, aaaaat least where things are as of 2/2/2019 in the khux jp and worldwide story. Who knows if this will be a quote Skuld will learn from Ephemer and then keep as a motto later. There’s also the fact that it’s hinted that Braig/Xigbar/Luxu is the one that broke her out. Perhaps he did this bc he recognized Ava? But if this is the case, why does Xehanort think Ansem the Wise hid her? Does Ansem the Wise KNOW where she is now years later or not?
For now I like how this plays out if the subject was Skuld. There’s also another mysterious line Luxu talks about in secret report 11 is about a certain magical lady from the future helping out the Union Leaders do a worldline transfer. Who from the future is he talking about? Ava is certainly magical but she’s in the past and MIA currently. Perhaps it’s bc she helped them that she ended up paying whatever the price was as well and thats how she ended up as text subject x. Meanwhile, Aqua IS magical too but how would she know to travel to the past to help the Union Leaders?
The mysterious pile up for KHUx to answer right now. About Luxord, Demyx, why did Elrena/Larxene and Laurium/Marluxia become so callous? How did all these parties forget about their past life? How did Xehanort find them? We know why he picked them but the details are fuzzy. What happened to Strelitzia? Is she the mystery girl in The Final World? Or is it someone else from KHUx? Now that Lauriam is back, is he still going to be looking for his sister? Was that what he was doing the whole time prior to becoming a nobody? Was Brain really the murderer? Where did Luxu hide the box and why was he making Luxord and the others look for it if he knew where it was? What did malificent mean that the box didnt exist yet?
So many more questions, but one thing is clear: Something big is about to happen in KHUx.
And as for the future of kh, “He will return.”
miscellaneous:
secret report 2: Eraqus is a “blueblood” in the world of kh according to a young Xehanort. “descended from the very first masters in the age of fairytales [aka khx/khux]”. Eraqus can’t have been related to the foretellers then cuz they didnt have kids, they were kids themselves to young teens i think. Which leaves the new union leaders but... they went missing? at least Luxu doesnt seem to know where 4 of them went according to secret report 12. I say 4 bc he had to be watching the 5th person since they had the No Name keyblade and that was kinda his task for a long ass time right. So I think he just kept track of that Union Leader. I remember wondering if Eraqus was a direct descendent of a wielder that’s important to the khux story and I thought since Skuld has black hair Eraqus could be her descendent, maybe along with with Ephemer too. Brain has black hair too and his sprite looks kinda like Eraqus? maybe? Who the heck is Eraqus DIRECTLY descended from that was a first master in the age of fairy tale????

Voltron Theory: The connection between Romelle, Lotor and Allura
Tumblr media
So something that has been bothering me for a while now regarding the situation with Voltron since Lotor’s been introduced is the connection between him and Allura, and now that we have Romelle introduced I think it’s time I tackle this issue.
Tumblr media
Let me begin by saying that I don’t hate Lotor. I think he’s an awesome villain and one that has been under loved for a long time. While, yes, he was a cackling 80s villain there was still a lot of nuance to him, and, because it was the 80s it was missed, or looked over, in most cases. Now with the new series people have seen how awesome a bad guy he can be, and yet, they’re defending his actions even though, and again, let’s be honest here, Lotor’s plan was dumb from the beginning. The thing about Lotor here, and why I feel I need to start with him on this post is because he’s the connecting link right now between our two ladies: Romelle and Allura.
Tumblr media
While a lot of people are complaining that Romelle is lying or that she’s spreading misinformation about Lotor, I think that we’re missing the big picture here. We don’t have all the pieces yet, and I don’t believe she is lying at all. On the contrary I think she’s telling what she believes to be true, and that I have to point to Lotor for causing her to have that misinformation in the first place.
What do I mean, well, put simply, I don’t think that Lotor was the founder of the colony, nor do I think that Romelle is just a simple Altean, and I think the three: Romelle, Lotor, and Allura are connected through one major factor, that being Allura’s mom and her side of the family.
Allow me to explain. See I’ve been going over and over again in my mind just how the hell Lotor knows anything about his Altean heritage. It’s really baffeling because of the fact that the Galra would want to wipe the Altean’s off the face of the Universe. And yet, he knows how to read Altean, how the language works, how they shape shift, even about stuff that Allura doesn’t, which is weird and has been since he’s come into play.
Now one may argue that Lotor gathered his info from Honerva. The problem with this is how that could have been done, since Honerva had become Haggar. We know, thanks to Season six, that Honerva didn’t remember anything about herself, nor that she fully had a kid (or rather she kind of did know she had a kid but didn’t, it’s still not fully clear on that). It’s only been recently that she’s been able to understand all of it and put things together. Yet, Lotor knows a ton about her and her works and about being Altean.
Tumblr media
One could assume then that maybe he found some videos of her working, which would explain him knowing about her experiments. Maybe he found books in her lab, but Haggar wouldn’t have let him in there as a child, even if he were to sneak in. Also, given that we know she didn’t remember her past, it would be hard to believe that she would keep anything on record about Altea. Also, again, the videos wouldn’t cover the history of Altea. Maybe her desires to go to Orianda, but probably not about how Altea ran and about it’s history. Sure Alfor is probably mentioned, but I would think that’s about it.
So how does Lotor know about the Alteans so well? One could say well he traveled a lot and found ancient books on it. Sure, okay, but how would he know how to read it? Honerva’s vids? I don’t think so. Again that doesn’t fit in with the work she was doing there at the time, and anyone watching the recording would have had to have had an understanding of the science behind what was being done and the language to read the reports. Remember we saw Pidge actively trying to learn Altean so she could fix things better, and it would make sense that Lotor would do the same. Except that we know that the Galra were actively destroying Altean history as part of Zarkon’s mad plans.
So where does that leave us? Well I have two ideas both of which are connected to Allura, since right now that’s the largest connection we have for Lotor (and I will get back to Romelle’s connection to this in a moment). The first one is a bit harder to prove since we don’t have anything to rely on, but the second, I think there’s enough out there in the show in regard to markings that we could make some serious guesses.
Tumblr media
Let me start with the first one, that being Lotor learned what he learned from Allura’s Mother.
Now before anyone goes, “But How?” let me point out that we don’t know what happened to her mom. We saw her pre Allura’s birth and then post Allura’s birth, but then only memories of her dad during season one. The thing is that Allura never indicated that her mother died. We know that she misses her, but if she did pass on, we don’t know when. We do know that she was apparently around when Alfor had a beard and everything. So it’s clear that she didn’t die young.
Tumblr media
Allura’s statue of her parents show Alfor as an older man with his wife. This brings up how long Altean’s live, and my guess is that it’s longer than standard earth life, given the implication that we see how long Alfor looked young for regarding the birth of his daughter. I don’t think they live as long as Haggar did naturally, but I don’t think it’s beyond conceivable that the life could be partly elongated and maybe naturally longer than what we consider earth life. Think Elves vs Humans, but shorter timespan than the elves.
Anyway, we can now safely assume that Allura’s mother did not die off early in her life. So what could have happened to her? We have been going on the assumption that Zarkon killed them all off, but that’s not true, as we’ve come to see with Romelle and the colony. Given that Zarkon killed Alfor in battle, we can assume before he blew up the place he probably looked around for things. Now, you may say, “Why keep the Queen Alive?” Well for the very purpose that having the royal hostage would mean no one would be willing to attack Zarkon so long as one of the royal family members are alive. This would mean that he was blackmailing all the rest of the living Alteans would could possibly start a fight. And we know that they were around in disguises.
Tumblr media
An example that we can point to is the member of the colilition last season that has Altean markings. We saw when Lotor approached some random Alteans in disquise that they were using their shape changing abilities. This would mean that there are those out there that, out of fear for their own lives, probably kept the ruse up and taught their children the same. Meaning that there’s probably more Alteans out there than just the colony.
So how does Allura’s mother come into play? Zarkon, as shown, is cruel but also not Cruel. What I mean is that on the one hand he’s a monster when it comes to taking planet life, but, for the most part, he’s left races alone that have agreed to stay under the Galra banner. He’s mostly let them live in peace, and he’s shown, at points, to not be as crazy as his wife. As we’ve seen he can be benevolent, and while he probably hated Alfor, he more than likely had no ill will for the Queen, and would have kept her alive.
Tumblr media
We’ve also been assuming that Alfor was the one that did all the magic in the family, that he’s the one that had the skills. But the only time we’ve seen Coran speak of Alfor doing this level of magic was with the Balmara. Also Coran, who was Alfor’s best friend, didn’t know about his trip to Orianda. But what if this was all backwards, and Lotor’s been painting the picture wrong for Allura this whole time because of the fact that he knew of her love for her father? What if the real Alchemist of the family is her mother?
Humor me here for a second. Let’s say that Alfor married the Queen and knew she was someone who was an alchemist. Lotor’s been the only one that has been pushing this factor about Alfor, and yet, in the flashbacks with him, we’ve never seen him exhibit that level of power before. So what if, Alfor wasn’t the one that imbued the lions with Altean magic. What if, during the time while they were being made on Altea (and before they were brought to Daibazaal) Allura’s mother used her skills as an alchemist to make sure that they had connections to Orianda so that they wouldn’t be used for nefarious purposes, by later pilots.
Tumblr media
So, perhaps Zarkon learned of this, between the time that he was still good and the point where he went crazy. Recall that Zarkon told them to save Lotor after he was born, and people assumed that he was put in that weird place where the two of them got their power. But what if that wasn’t the case? What if, and again humor me, Allura’s mother, who was being held captive, was the one that saved the baby since Haggar was too weak at the time. It would explain also why Lotor turned blue the first time he tried to access the rift as, perhaps, some of Allura’s mom’s power still is part of him.
Excluding that aspect of Lotor having some power from Allura’s mom, we can probably guess that, if she was the one that saved him, she may have cleared him of his illness.
Tumblr media
Now we know that Lotor was taught about the Galra from his governess Daiack (Dyack? Diak?) who, as we’ve seen, knows a lot about Galra history, but nothing about Altea. So we can cross her off the list. But what if during that time that Lotor was growing up, he went to see Allura’s mother who told him of Alfor, Honerva, and maybe of her daughter even. Remember, Lotor certainly wasn’t surprised to hear Allura’s name, as it seemed he heard of her. It could be possible then that her mom taught him about his Altean side, and maybe started, unfortunately, in his mind the process that later turned him into what he is now. I’m assuming she passed on, but maybe she gave him clues as to how to look and learn about the Alteans.
Then, over the years as he grew, he studied about them and came up with his plans, as a means of creating the world that Allura’s mother wanted to return.
This would then connect Allura and Lotor via her mother and deepen their connection there.
The other option is another Altean played the same role to Lotor. In this case this person gave him more info in regard to the history on a less personal level and let him build his own view point on Altea. But the same ending transpired in this case and Lotor, wanting to create a haven where he could feel loved and accepted for being the Halfling that he is, started his search for the Alteans. I’ll get more into this in a moment.
Tumblr media
And then there’s Romelle.
One of the things I noticed about the story that she was telling was the way that she told it. She said that people were taught this version very young, meaning that Lotor didn’t give the whole version of the story that passed down over the generations. Now, again, assuming that Lotor was taught a lot by Allura’s mom, most of what he would have created for the Altean’s would have resembled what she most remembered about Altea. And, like Allura, we can guess that she loved the flowers and the fields there. However something about the whole thing just feels off to me in regard to the idea of the story itself. A lot of the technology we see there is based on the castle and also the fact that there are really old crafts that are Altean. Remember these crafts usually hold up to four people, so how was Lotor able to squirrel them away. We heard his story about how he lived for a year with a culture that was destroyed, replenishing the quintessence and once he was sent away he decided to learn about his heritage. Which again, brings back the question of who explained what he was to him?
Again there are two options here in regard to Romelle’s story.  The first is the one that she tells. That Lotor discovered the Alteans and brought them to the location they were at on the colony and over the next several generations built the colony we see today. However there are a lot of issues if it’s just Lotor’s doing. How was he hiding the material they needed from the Galra? When was he able to keep out of Zarkon’s view? And, again, where did he learn all this stuff if a lot about Altea gets destroyed?
Which again brings me back to my two options. I’m going to simply option one, that being that it was a Random Altean that did all this and that they were not that important to the story at hand. Basically what option two and three give are pretty much what Option one would be, minus some of the significance here.
So option two. Assuming that Lotor did not have Allura’s mom as his teacher back when he was younger, we can then cover the possibility of option two here. That there was someone else from Altea that escaped at the time due to travel. We haven’t seen anything of Allura’s mother’s or father’s family. We know from the original series that Allura did have an Aunt and that she did have a distant cousin in King Kobra. Now there is that option here. Let’s say that either Allura’s Mom or her Father Alfor, had a relation that was part of the royal family but not high rank (a cousin or something) who worked as part of the Trade area of the country. This would mean that the person, male or female, could have easily been off planet when the destruction occurred. If we assume that the queen was either captured or killed, then it’s not that hard to see this person, who isn’t a fighter, setting up a plan to help protect as many altean’s as possible. They got the word out to hide and, in the meantime, tried to find a place to set up shop for the Alteans.
Tumblr media
During that time they found a world that was beyond the Abyss that could work to build a colony, or had been creating little pockets around so that it could happen later. Long story short, said person later met with Lotor whom they taught all about their altean heritage to, and he later, after his mentor’s passing, went on to create the colony based on the plans that the person had. Or the person helped him with it and together they created the haven for the Alteans, and only after the person’s passing did Lotor start his plans.
This person could easily have been directly related to Romelle as we’ve seen two Alteans who have had a lot of prominent shots in the episode of the Colony and they match up the order that Romelle mentions her parents leaving, mother than father, and also both bear the right sort of markings. A darker pink color for the male who is a lighter shade, and a green blue marking on the female. Now, you may say. But they have the wrong hair color, and indeed they do. But outside of Allura, we haven’t seen the color of hair of children of two Alteans of different hair color. We see a child in the flash back with green hair, but her mother’s hair is white pink. The outfit colors also match the outfits that Bandor and Romelle wear and are similar in nature to their children’s. It’s also kind of clear that both Romelle and her father are wearing a unique sort of belt that only one other male character in the back is wearing, but we’ll get to that later.
Tumblr media
Why I bring any of this up is because we see these two people as some of the early settlers on the Colony and the fact that they are standing out so much, makes me think that the female may either be related to Romelle and Bandor, and given the color schemes of the parents, it’s not that hard to wonder if there’s some relation to Allura’s parents on Romelle’s mom’s side.
The other option is a bit trickier but makes sense as well, and may have a stronger hint. At least until we get some moments regarding Allura’s Mother.
So assuming that she didn’t die on world, nor that she was captured by the Galra, one could assume that the Queen got spirited away. Now, if she did get off world, how exactly was she not captured? Well she is a shape shifter too, so hiding in plain sight isn’t that hard. And, given what we see on the colony in regard to how the Altean’s age, and if they have a natural type of Quintessence that allows them to age more slowly, then one can point to the idea that the Queen was around for quiet a long while.
Tumblr media
Naturally of course she would want to protect her people, but as she’s an alchemist and not a fighter like her husband, she probably didn’t want to stand out, so she hid. During the next several years, I doubt she was sitting around and doing nothing. So my theory goes like this. After escaping and if she is the Alchemist, she slowly rounded up others in regard to finding a safe place away from the Galras. We know that Coran was Alfor’s assistant, but it’s not too much of a stretch to think that the Queen may have had her own (family or not) that helped her out.
One can assume someone with her level of Alchemic magic may have gone and set up the colony and brought people there slowly over time. It seems odd that Lotor could easily get past the dangers there as we saw that the ship that Keith and Krolia were on was wrecked, and the Galra do not have the same skills as the Alteans in regard to magic to keep creatures at bay. So exactly how did he find this place without being wrecked, it doesn’t add up.
Unless, that is he was helped.
Let’s say that the Queen ended up on the same world Lotor did. During this time they became friends, though he didn’t know she was Allura’s mother. Over the year he spent there with her he came to learn about the planet and it’s culture and everything seemed okay. Until Zarkon ruined it. Allura’s mom would have known and realized that Lotor was part Galra and told him the story about Honerva, and her past. Of course Lotor would want to know everything about his other side and the Queen probably provided him with that info. The two bonded and she taught him about the Alteans and their history. Eventually the two became close enough that she told Lotor about her plan to hide away her people, and he agreed to help, wanting to be in a place where he could feel at home.
Tumblr media
The two worked together to find the Alteans, Lotor doing a lot of the leg work as she was probably a lot older at the time, and eventually helped to create a ship to transport the Alteans to the location of the Colony. Hiding transports and other things so that, if shit went down, they could leave to find a new place. However, probably after her death, something happened that caused Lotor to decide to pull his scheme. Now my guess is that it may have been some sort of vision in the Abyss that showed him as being a ruler in the future of the Alteans (and I think that may have ties to him going through the rift to the other side and hooking up with Merla).
Tumblr media
This may have lead to his plans. As for the connection to Romelle on this, well, it could be that again, her family may have ties to the queen, either through friendship or via family. It would make sense that she would want to keep what remains of her family safe, and where else would be better.
Now, it’s not hard to assume that Lotor eventually altered the story, removing his mentor so that he could have the lead in all this. But honestly this seems to fit the most.
Tumblr media
TLDR: Allura’s mother somehow has a connection to Lotor and could be a relative of Romelle, which is why she was able to open the hanger as well as the fact that Bandor was able to make a communication device like that, even though it’s prohibited.

Thinking it would be a one-off, Yumiko took her chance and made the most of it and reported the news as best as she could. That same day, social media showed that many people were complimenting the way the ‘pretty blonde girl’ reported the stories that day. Yumiko, due to this, ended up becoming a part-time reporter where she would report the news with a bright and cheery attitude, that caused teens to watch the news more in admiration of someone their age being a reporter. Though she has a warm and kind personality on camera, off camera she becomes a different person, acting more coldly and harshly to those around her which can come as a surprise to her fans. Robyn Hutchison - Ultimate Nudes Artist
Gender: Female
Height: 5′8″
Birthday: September 1st

Dislikes: Makeup
Was captured by: Jataro
The bespectacled ginger Scottish beauty, Robyn defies all expectations with her talent alone. Having an undeniably beautiful art style comes with it’s own downsides: Robyn is only able to become inspired by muscular male bodies. Despite this being her only muse, if she goes too long without drawing, she gets cranky and can lash out so she is always on the lookout for muscular boys to draw (of age, of course). When she’s calm, she has a fun personality and likes to take playful jabs at her friends, never truly meaning any offence, though the difference in cultural humour sometimes gets her in trouble, and she can get words wrong on occasion when speaking. She describes her art as “tasteful nudes” and loathes it when someone calls it “porn”.

Takashi loves to help people, and goes along with other people’s antics without any, or very little, argument. Despite his very youthful look, he is actually the oldest in his class, actually being 19 years old, but started school late, which is why he’s so many years older than his class members. Takashi became an archaeologist after he escaped a kidnapping attempt and wandered onto a digging site. Ever since he found his first set of bones, he’s loved archaeology. Though, he never talks about it, he’s sad that he was separated from his parents and younger brother, and uses archaeology to take his mind off it, which isn’t always a bad thing. He needs to put all that energy somewhere.

As an experiment, several children of government officials were taken in to raise as spies. Shin was one of these children. He was trained in combat and counterespionage from age 5, given the belief that the mission was important above all else.Shin ended up at the top of this group in all areas and was made an official spy. Whilst this does mean he has developed superior strength, reflexes, and intelligence, he has lost the ability to feel most emotions and it has become extremely rare for him to ever react or lose his composure. He has incredible acting abilities though, for when he is undercover, so it can be hard to tell if he is truly indifferent or not to situations. However, he is not shy in admitting that he has some family issues, never forgiving his parents for forcing him into this life.

Whenever she’d go to her cousin’s house, she’d listen intently to the stories he had, and Haruhi would read all the books on the occult that she could get her hands on, managing to learn different topics on hexes and curses, on demons, and all things occult. A fiery personality, where she’s quick to threaten people with curses with rather odd effects such as “needing to go to the bathroom more often” or “your shoelaces will always come undone no matter how tightly you tie them”, she can come across wrongly. Deep down, Haruhi wants to be able to get along with people, however her obsession with the abnormal makes it hard for her.

As soon as his legs were long enough to control it, Hiroaki would steal his brother’s motorcycle and set up different situations which usually would result in a trip to A&E, however it would take more than that to deter him from the thrill! His hot-blooded personality gets him into trouble with authorities who want him to stop his stunts, however, he finds himself unable to contain the excitement at these situations. Due to the numerous amount of stunts he’s done, he’s gained a cult following online which is how Hope’s Peak learned of him. Loud, proud, and ready to take any and all dangers, Hiroaki lives a life without fear of death.
Etsuko Hanabusa - Ultimate Choreographer

Birthday: April 20th
Likes: Lyrical dances
Dislikes: Natural talent
Was captured by: Kotoko
With a cold glare, and sharp tongue, Etsuko Hanabusa is a choreographer who strikes fear into the hearts of dancers all around the country. With a zero-nonsense policy, she won’t take attitude from anybody. Once a talented dancer, she fell victim to an accident where she needed surgery on her legs, leaving her unable to continue dancing. However, she didn’t want to leave her passion, and took it in a different direction: thus she became the choreographer at the dance studio. Using her knowledge, she created beautiful dance one after the other, earning her a golden reputation in the dance community, even choreographing full musicals. However, if you ever try to say she has a natural talent as a choreographer, she will passionately deny it and say she worked hard to get to where she is and that natural talent is an unnecessary shortcut people use to undermine her talent that she honed herself.

CBD For Dogs? New Research Backs Canine Cannabis Use For Osteoarthritis
Emily Earlenbaugh
Is your dog suffering from canine osteoarthritis? A new study suggests that CBD may help dogs with this painful arthritic condition.
Canine osteoarthritis is an inflammatory condition marked by pain, stiffness, and loss of mobility. And it can leave dogs lethargic, irritable and reluctant to play, run or jump. Unfortunately, the condition is all too common in dogs. Researchersestimate that it affects at least 20% of all dogs older than 1 year old, with higher risk for older dogs.
The recent study, published in the journal PAIN, looked at whether different doses and formulations of CBD might help dogs suffering from osteoarthritis - and the results suggested that it could.
Researchers from Baylor College of Medicine worked in collaboration with the CBD brand Medterra on the randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study. The 4 week study included 20 large dogs diagnosed with osteoarthritis who were randomly assigned to receive either a placebo or one of three different CBD options. The dogs were evaluated before and after the regimen by both veterinarians and their owners on factors related to their mobility and pain. Details about the amount of CBD each dog was taking was kept from the owners and veterinarians so that it wouldn’t influence their evaluations.
While the placebo group and the low CBD group showed no improvement, by the end of the one month period, the group of dogs who took higher doses of CBD or used CBD in a liposomal formulation saw significant improvement in their mobility and quality of life.
“I openly admit that I was surprised at how quickly we saw such large results” says Matthew Halpert PhD, Faculty with the Department of Pathology and Immunology at Baylor College of Medicine and Senior Scientific Advisor for Medterra. “I would not have expected to see too much of anything in just one month.”
Halpert, who designed the experiment, explains that in the placebo and lower dose groups, the owners reported their dogs to be “just as miserable as before” and veterinarians didn’t see any improvement in the dog’s mobility. But in the two higher dose groups “almost every dog saw significant improvement in their conditions, in regards to reduced pain and increased ability to move around. And the dogs seemed happier and were able to do more.”
Even two weeks after the dogs stopped taking the CBD, those in the higher dose groups were still showing improvement. “This would tell us that the CBD was in fact addressing the underlying inflammatory issues” Halpert explains. “It wasn't just masking the pain”
These results add additional scientific backing to the emerging market of CBD for pets. There is currently a wide variety of products geared towards dogs and other pets. According to the Brightfield Group, a consumer research group focused on the cannabis space, the US Pet CBD market expanded by more than 10 times its 2018 size in 2019, producing $321 million in sales. In 2020 it is projected to reach $563 million in sales.
The research also lends support to reports of success with CBD from dog owners, such as Zoe Lilly, who lives in Oxfordshire England with her 7 and a half year old dog Zeus - a Rhodesian Ridgeback. Zoe says she noticed Zeus getting a little stiff on one leg, so she decided to try out CBD. She says “It’s made his movement more fluid and he can play pretty well.” Zoe hasn’t noticed any negative side effects in Zeus since starting, but she does report noticing that it helps relax him before vet visits.
While there has been previous research suggesting CBD can help with canine osteoarthritis, this study looked at both traditional CBD and CBD in a liposomal formulation, a method used to make it easier to absorb CBD, which isn’t very bioavailable on it’s own. “It's kind of like a Trojan horse, or a water balloon” explains Halpert. “We put the CBD inside of that and the liposome itself, the balloon itself, is actually very bioavailable.”
When ingested, liposomes are said to be more easily absorbed into the bloodstream of both humans and dogs, making it easier to absorb CBD. In this experiment, dogs taking a daily dose of 20mg’s of liposomal CBD did significantly better than those who took 20mg’s of traditional CBD, adding some evidence to the theory.
Still, other experts disagree. Stephen Cital, a veterinary anesthesia & pain management specialist points out this study didn’t test the CBD levels in the blood after dogs ingested these two CBD options. They just looked at the outcomes in the dogs’ behavior. He’s not convinced liposomes make a difference.
“I have never seen an added benefit to liposomal encapsulation with these molecules” he explains “I think in theory makes a lot of sense, but we haven't seen the data to support that at this point.”
Cannabis or hemp derived CBD products may help dogs with osteoarthritis - according to new research.
Still, Cital supports the use of CBD for dogs with osteoarthritis and has even had his own success story, using CBD to treat his own 11 year old mixed breed dog, who was having shaking in his back legs and a hard time getting up the stairs.
“Within three days I noticed that his back leg stopped shaking.” Cital reports, recalling how his elderly dog was more able to walk up the stairs and play. Cital says he has seen many dogs in his practice see similar improvement with CBD. “You just see the life brought back into them... and [you] get a few more quality years out of them comfortably.”
Other veterinarians with experience using CBD in dogs also reported seeing positive results using the drug for canine osteoarthritis.
Gary Richter, a veterinarian in Oakland, CA says he’s “certainly seen quite a number of dogs that are on either CBD or some other preparation of cannabis for the treatment of osteoarthritis and many of those dogs do very, very well.”
While none of the dogs in the recent study saw negative side effects, Richter says he’s seen some dogs have minor side effects from the drug. “The one side effect that is sometimes seen is an elevation in one of the liver values, the alkaline phosphatase” he explains. Still he says that the elevation “does not appear to cause any real world issue, in the sense that it doesn't make the dog sick. And it is reversible if you stop giving the CBD.”
Gastrointestinal problems like diarrhea or vomiting also occasionally occur for some dogs, but Richter and Cital say it is unclear if this is related to the CBD or the oils and other compounds in CBD products.
Elizabeth Mironchik-Frankenberg, a veterinarian and founder of Veterinary Cannabis Consultants, also adds that “CBD can interfere with the metabolism of other drugs, so this needs to be taken into consideration.”
Richter, Cital, Mironchik-Frankenberg and Halpert all urged pet owners to talk to their veterinarian before starting a CBD regimen and to make sure you use high quality CBD products. “There are a lot of products out there and not everything is made properly, not everything is labeled accurately, not everything has in the bottle, what it says on the label” explains Richter. Cital suggests only using brands that can show lab tested results with their products to ensure dosing information is accurate and the product is free from contaminants.

How I Would Do the DCEU:
With the release of Justice League recently, fans have been once again divided over the vision of Director Zack Snyder with the influence of former Marvel Maker- Joss Whedon. The film is quite polarising at the moment- with people actually going out of there way to hope for a release of the Snyder Version of this movie! Can you imagine that happening after Man of Steel which had the controversial killing scene and then after Batman v Superman?
People want to see Zack Snyder finish his creative vision and, whilst I do understand why Zach had to drop out, I’m also curious about the world that might have been if Zach had gotten to make what is effectively the DC Trilogy starting from Man of Steel all the way to Justice League (with Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman in the middle).
Zack tried something new and I’ve decided to adopt an attitude of- Good for him. It was different, and I can respect that. Whilst there are things I don’t agree with (BIG TIME) I’ve matured enough to respect his attempt at trying to do something new.
So that being said- the above may have been a bit of a random segway- I’m going to take this opportunity to basically explain what I would do if I was in charge of the DCEU because, quite frankly, nobody asked and I have nothing to lose. And to make sure it’s not super long- I’m going to do this in chapters. CHAPTER 1; SUPERMAN
Cast- Controversially, I don’t want Superman whiter than bread to be Superman. I want someone more tanned in skin tone, as this is a guy who absorbs sunlight. It makes sense, in my mind, for Superman to have darker than white as snow skin.
Lois and Jimmy, whoever is best for the role. These are iconic characters who can be ANYONE. Same with Luthor- but they must be bald.
We begin super duper basic. I’m talking the quickest origin story ever- Spider-man Homecoming taught is that we don’t need to tell these characters back stories. We know them. So let’s do that again here.
Right from the pages of Grant Morrison we see, in order, in still images; Krypton, about to explode. A couple placing a baby in a rocketship. The rocket flies away as the planet explodes. The Kent couple looking at the baby- And then we slam to Superman flying through Metropolis. It’s probably the second/third year of his activity and as he flies through the city he is smiling and we see him perform several acts of kindness. Some big, some small. He stops some cars from hitting each other, he stops to wave at some bored kids, he saves, he inspires, and we have several shots of people looking up. Just as it’s looking too idealistic, we cut then to a bank which is being robbed and the criminals are being outlandish with it- multiple cars go off in different directions, a helicopter flies away, the criminals are trying to escape the Man of Steel by being clever and Superman essentially goes through a chase sequence where the villains are trying new weapons. They know he is strong, so the weapons criminals have made are designed to try and take him down by any means. Metropolis crime has evolved to take down the Last Son of Krypton. Superman stops them though and the citizens are pleased and later we cut to Clark Kent, reporter, working at the Daily Planet.
We are then introduced to our Lois Lane in the movie who is practically like Sherlock in how clever she is. She notices small details about people, she can tell the time by looking at peoples shoes- she is SUPER clever. If Sherlock/House can make it hilarious, I’m sure Lois can too. Jimmy is also around, a savvy media type who understands everything about social media and as #SupermansBestFriend. Lois and Clark talk because they have an ongoing beef with Lex Luthor who is talking about unveiling some technological advancements. They are suspicious because of reports that have come from Lex’s Labs from former employers, and Perry wants them to pursue it but also wants them to be careful.
The Daily Planet scene can be fun because you can have continuity that other heroes exist in the world and that they are established heroes also. Have reports from Central City about a Flash running around, Coast City with a Green Lantern- Gotham with a... you know.
The trio of Clark/Lois/Jimmy then have an evening of hanging out, chatting and talking about personal stuff. Every now and then Clark has to disappear (bathroom breaks and stuff) and whilst we don’t see it, we get the impression he is helping someone out there. The plan tomorrow is for Jimmy to take pictures of Luthor’s new tech, Clark is to distract people with questions and Lois goes in to get the juicy gossip. They all agree and that night, Clark and Lois walk home alone and have a sweet moment.
The next morning we get the moment where Clark stands by his window and seems to soak in the sun and relishes in it’s light before going about his normal morning routine at super speed before finally making his way to meet Lois and Jimmy. We see Lex for the first time and it first he seems like a typical businessman. Talking about his products in a very Apple founder kind of way, standing on a stage, etc. The creation in question is a robotic skeletal suit because, in Lex’s own words, not everyone can be made out of steel.
Lois sneaks off as Jimmy and Clark go into action and, as Lois is investigating the labs, we can see that Clark is both keeping an eye on her and can also hear her as well. At one point she distracts some guards and we can see that Clark is very impressed in her. She manages to get into Luthor’s lab and begins to take some photos, and her eye catches on a strange room and, going inside, sees something strange and she realises it’s some kind of weird mutation. She flashes a light on it from her phone, but it seems to absorb the light and her phone goes dead. At various points it
She escapes the lab with her phone and finds Clark and Jimmy and the trio rush back to the Daily Planet. They plug the phone in but when they turn it on they see that the creature absorbed not just the phones power but everything within it as well. Clark finds it strange and Perry is furious that they have no evidence of Luthor’s obvious evil and tears them all out.
That evening, after walking Lois home and the two sharing another moment, Clark flies back home and has a chat with Ma and Pa Kent. They share in stories and we see that the couple are very supportive of there son. Maybe have a flashback to Clark’s childhood. Basically it’s a chance to see more the good that Clark does, with newspaper clippings and stories that people have written in about the hero that is, Superman.
Meanwhile in the lab, the mutant uses the energy that it has absorbed and escapes in a massive explosion and escapes the dark room. It rushes out of the lab, stealing energy from all sorts of sources as it does and gradually seems to grow in strength- becoming less like a weird globby mutant and more like a four legged spider (which i get makes no sense, but I know what I mean).
Clark is flying back to Metropolis and as he does he hears panic as, after a period of time, the mutant has taken in enough energy and is now moving at high speeds- literally at the speed of dark. It’s quick, but not necessarily strong, and is eating the light from Metropolis’ night sky through street and car lamps. Superman arrives to face the monster and, after punching it, notices that it has stolen some of his strength after absorbing the light from within him.
They fight, this time Superman on the defensive, and after a well place heat vision blast he scatters the creature and believes it has been defeated. The next day, he presents Perry an article about the creature and mentions it has ties based on Lois’ first hand experience to LexCorp. Perry refuses to run it based on flimsy evidence however, but does agree to run the story about Superman facing down a weird mutant based on the amount of publicity surrounding it- referring to it as The Parasite.
We then have a few scenes where Luthor distances himself from the mutant, saying it attacked his lab rather than escaping from it, and then other stuff such as the creature beginning to reform before gradually stalking its’ way through the city. Clark and Lois go on a date but during it Lois points out why she finds Clark so interesting and goes on an explanation about his mannerisms and about how they all seem put on. She inadvertently insults him and Clark, thinking it’s a mistake, goes to leave and Lois has to reflect on essentially putting her foot in her own mouth.
Jimmy, meanwhile, is on the way to his own date with his girlfriend- and then spies the creature in a different, more humanoid form, and when he takes a picture off it with the flash on it steals the light from his camera and then attacks him. It’s only by his quick thinking by running into the heart of Metropolis that the creature is overwhelmed and flees, setting up that it can only gradually absorb energy.
The next day Lois and Clark have a business only chat about the next move regarding Luthor, and are then surprised when he enters the building and demands an interview with the 3 of them and Perry. He explains, furiously, that the creature that Lois took a picture off stole the light and energy from her phone and used this to escape and that it’s unlikely to have been destroyed, more temporarily overwhelmed. He agrees to give the paper an exclusive interview on why he was creating the creature if, in return, they assist him by broadcasting on there TV Channel the way to protect the public and to endorse the skeletal armour he had made.
Clark refuses as he won’t compromise and, inspired, Jimmy and Lois agree and even Perry after a moment- but Luthor opts to relent and give them the interview without the endorsement as lives are more important to him. Lois conducts the interview and Clark disappears to hunt for the creature. In the middle of the day, huddled under a container, the creature experiments by sending bits of it out to absorb the direct sunlight and after a few harsh moments of exposure it eventually absorbs enough energy to withstand the sun and comes out in the daylight.
From there, it is practically unstoppable and darkness sweeps the streets as the Parasite creature absorbs the city and it’s very form begins to blanket the sky as it’s aura grows in size but the creature remains humanoid. Superman engages it in a battle, fighting the humanoid figure, but with every blow he only makes it stronger and himself weaker and after a heavy blow he is launched across the city and slams into the ground of a families home. Weakened without the yellow sun energy.
Lois, meanwhile, uses the Daily Planets backup emergency power to explain that the creature feeds on light, cutting into Luthor’s segment, and there only hope is Superman- but he needs there light to continue to fight so she encourages everyone to turn on everything that they have. People began to set candles, turn on everything that they own, torches, etc. And the city begins to light up in the darkness and whilst it is gradually snuffed out, nothing can stop the citizens of Metropolis trying to fight back.
Superman regains enough energy to start leaping and begins to leap from building to building and just reaches high enough after a particularly tall SkyScraper to let his fingertips touch beyond the dark cloud enveloping the city- and then absorbs enough sun to propel himself above the darkness. He absorbs as much sunlight as he can as the Parasite begins to march to the cities main square to take down the last major power source- and then Superman lands and roars, using his voice to launch the creature and it’s dark shroud back and also use his heat vision to blast it. He engages in a battle, using his powers to keep the sunlight blasting down on him as the two light and energy sourced creatures fight and, eventually, when the Parasite brings all it’s power into itself to unleash it all at Superman, Superman uses all of his power in return and manages to vaporise the creature in a Superman punch.
The creature is reduced to a small form, and a Luthor team arrive to contain it. The confidence in Luthor is shaken, but he’s not out of power yet, and after a particularly viscous piece endorsed by Perry, he vows revenge on the Daily Planet. Lois and Clark patch things up and we get the impression by the end of the story that the adventures of Superman, Lois and Jimmy vs Luthor is just beginning as we see he has way more monsters and mutants at his disposal thanks to a strange glowing box that he calls, mother.
Then the movie ends, full of hope and with the idea that this is just a SUPERMAN story. It’s basically a couple of days in his life. He has millions of adventures, this is just one of them, and at the end of it he is a hero. If the movie failed, you could go forward with a different actor, in a different story, and this one would be just as viable in the continuity. With a positive tone as well, the Superman Story can work really well.
And of course, if it works, you can then do a Mid-Credit Scene:
Lois and Clark have a second date and it goes better. Clark flies home, very happy with himself as he and Lois go to kiss- but dont. But they could have and he knows it. As he lands in his apartment, he turns back as he notices something weird and he sees in the distance... a man dressed as a bat.
NEXT TIME, IN PART 2 OF THIS THING NOBODY ASKED FOR-
I talk about Chapter 2.
Batman.

based off the prompt “you’re the only one around when i break the printer, and i’m panicking” which i cannot find a source for at the moment... :(
pairing: kurodai
warnings: none... but RA means resident assistant.
Kuroo’s never really been all that in tune with technology. He has a cellphone, and knows how to operate it fairly well…but that’s because Kenma had to teach him. He knows how to navigate the internet and use word documents for his assignments on his computer but don’t ask him about operating systems, programs and troubleshooting. He doesn’t do well with other technologies unless there is someone to tell him what to do (he can work a coffee machine though, but that’s more survival skills than being technologically advanced).
In his past school experiences, when it comes to…printing things, he’s always had someone else to do it for him. Usually Kenma, occasionally Yaku, and Kai on a good day. But of course Kuroo had to decide to go to school in Okinawa…away from those lifelines. At first, it was okay, until his recent chemistry professor decided it’d be better to print out all lab reports instead of just turning them in electronically. Kuroo is used to turning things in electronically. This is far out of his comfort zone!
Because Kuroo is one to avoid embarrassment at all cost, he refuses to go to the computer labs on campus. He doesn’t need his fellow classmates, peers and randoms to witness just how out of touch with technology that he is at his young and tender age. He had to be strategic about this, and that meant using the dorm’s computer lab at eleven at night on a Friday. It made sense, others will most likely be at a party or on dates, or wherever the hell they wanted to be instead of the computer lab. He can do this. Get in, figure out the wonders of a printer, print his assignment, get out and don’t look back. Simple.
When Kuroo arrived to the computer lab, it was actually empty. Good, this meant he could carry on with his plan easily. He occupied a computer in the corner, logging on with ease and comfort. So far so good. He accessed his assignment, downloaded the file, and reopened it in Microsoft Word. A cake walk. Now to print…
It took at least five minutes just to find the print button, and once the separate printing window popped up, Kuroo pressed the bold, cannot be missed, print option. He knew that printers usually made sounds, as a signal that they were working and doing their job…but all he heard was silence. Oh shit…
Kuroo calmly stood from his seat and walked over to the printing machine…and he was at a lost. What does he do? Do you push a button? Do you punch it? Unplug and then plug again? Or what if he broke it?? Just his luck, he would be the one to break the printer. He will never be able to show his face in this computer lab ever again… he might have to change dorms. Or just move in general? Maybe even switch majors…switch schools…all because he didn’t want to humiliate himself in the school’s computer lab. At least there he could ask for help! Oh no…oh no.
“You didn’t break it, calm down. It’s just out of paper.” Someone answered, and Kuroo turned around so fast he probably gave himself whiplash. He knew this guy… Sawamura, right. Sawamura was a RA on the second floor. Kuroo lived on the third. “I-I didn’t think I broke it.” Kuroo tried to play it cool, though his cheeks were hot. “Oh yeah? Because those thoughts in your head were actually said out loud. I heard every word. From the ‘do you just push a button’ to the ‘at least you could ask for help at the school’s computer lab’.” Sawamura explained, chuckling as he opened some compartment, shoved in fresh paper, and watched the machine roar to life. “I believe this is yours.” Sawamura handed him a fresh warm stack of chemistry assignments. “Thank you…” “And you can ask for help here too, you know…if you ever need help printing or anything computer related… the RA office is just around the corner. I’m there every Friday night, equipped with all the printer paper your heart desires. There’s also snacks.” “I could go for some jerky…” “You’re in luck! My roommate just hand delivered some to me. I don’t mind sharing.” Sawamura laughed. “I’m Sawamura by the way, though you probably knew that.” “Yeah, RA of the second floor, right? A classmate of mine, Moniwa, lives on your floor.” “Moniwa, huh? That’s my roommate! What about you?” “Me? I live on the third floor and I don’t have a roommate…my RA is Shimizu though, at least I believe that’s her name…?” “No, do you have a name? Or shall I call you chem nerd? Or technological challenged?” “Ha. Ha. Kuroo is fine.”
