Thomas Andrew x reader - After The Sinking
Summary: Thomas and the reader fell in love on the Titanic. When the ship went down the reader managed to get him off the ship with her. Now the two are still in love and have decent lives.
Warnings: mentions of death, some sadness, but fluff in all.
(Special thanks to @automaticlawyersportsuniversity for requesting this! If any of you have an request please send it in!💙)

————————————
“Please my dear, please go onto the lifeboat you will be safe. Live your life.” Thomas pleaded with me as I cried. The ship was sinking. Something we all thought would never happen. He held my forearms gently and was trying to convince me to go on the lifeboat.
But I didn’t want to. I wanted to stay with Thomas to be with him. Over the past three days we had fallen in love. I couldn’t leave him. Our love needed to last and flourish.
“Thomas I’m staying with you. I love you I can’t leave you.” I told him through tears. He looked over to one of his officers and then gave me a deep and passionate kiss. He pulled away slowly and handed me off to officer Murdoch. Then he disappeared into the crowd of people.
I fought against Mr.Murdoch’s grip but soon gave up as I grew weak and heartbroken. I let Murdoch place me into the lifeboat and he watched me carefully as the boat was lowered onto the water. But when the boat reached the second floor I let my love win over my life.
I jumped onto the second platform and hung from the rail. A man helped me back onto the ship and I thanked him quickly before running to Thomas’ stateroom. Where I knew he would be.
I burst through the door and saw him standing in front of the fire, looking at the painting above the fireplace.
“Thomas!” I cried as I ran to my love. He turned around and let out a small cry as he saw me. He caught me and hugged me so tightly. He cried into my head and I cried into his chest.
“Why did you get off the boat?” He whispered. I pulled away too look him in the eye.
“I couldn’t leave you Thomas. I love you so much. If you die I die. I’m not doing anything with you.” I said. Thomas kissed me again and turned back to his clock, his hand still grasping mine.
He looked at his pocket watched then fixed the small clock on the fireplace. He turned towards me and tucked my wet hair behind my ear. He cupped my face with his hands and looked at me lovingly.
“Please Thomas, leave with me. We can have a life together. A life like we talked about the first night we met. Please Thomas.” I whispered. Thomas let tears fall from his eyes and he hugged me tightly once again.
“I’ve failed all these people. This is all my fault. Im so sorry I couldn’t have built you a better ship sweet y/n.” He cried. I shook my head and squeezed his body lightly.
“It’s not your fault Thomas. Nobody could have predicted this would happen. But let’s tell everyone that, it’s not your fault. If anything it’s Ismays. You will be okay, i will be with you. Now let’s go so we can be together and tell people your story.” I told him. He nodded and we kissed again before we walked back to the lifeboats, hand in hand.
We got our spots in a lifeboat and an officer gave us a blanket. Thomas opened it and wrapped it around my body. I saw him shaking and wrapped one side around his. We were squished together and I had my head on his shoulder with my arms around his waist. His arm rested around mine and we tried to save all the warmth between us.
When we made it to the other ship, they gave us warm drinks which helped me a lot. I was freezing and so was Thomas. We both sat on a bench with individual blankets wrapped around us. A officer came up to us with a clipboard and pen.
“Can I get your names please?” He asked.
“Thomas Andrews.” Thomas replied quietly. I grabbed his hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze.
“Y/n Andrews.” I said.
The officer nodded and left while he wrote our names down. Thomas looked over to me with a confused look on his face.
“I want to have your last name Thomas. I want you to marry me.” I told him. He kissed me deeply.
“I want to marry you too.”
————
The sinking happened two years ago. Me and Thomas have married but have not had any kids. We’ve tried but I just never got pregnant. (We still try of course.)
Our lives are decent now. We are both still rich and Thomas was able to face to press and explain the situation. Only a small bit of backlash happened, most people understood.
Recently we had just found out that our friends Harold Lowe, Rose Dawson, Margret Brown, Ruth Dewitt Bukater, Bruce Isamy and Caledon Hockley survived. Rose had changed her name and I was informed that Jack had died.
Me and rose were close, we both didn’t want to be controlled. We were also both 17. Me and Harold are close too, he lives in the same town me and Thomas do. He got married and he has a beautiful daughter. Margret is living her life as normal as are Ruth and Bruce. Caledon married another women but they soon divorced. Ruth is upset that rose left her but who can blame rose. Me and thomas never liked Ruth, Caledon or Bruce.
Currently, me and Thomas are sitting in our tea room with Harold and his wife. His daughter was sleeping on our couch. We were talking about anything but soon the titanic got brought up.
“How are you two holding up from the sinking? I never asked.” Harold asked us. The room got silent. And I straightened up and looked at thomas. His face was calm but his hand started to shake. Thomas still has nightmare about the sinking. He tells me that they are about me dying.
“I’m getting better, thank you Harold.” I replied with a smile. Me and Harold’s wife locked eyes and smiled to one another.
“I’ve been doing well Harold.” Thomas said in a quiet voice. Harold nodded and we continued with our tea.
When Harold and his family left, me and thomas went up to our bedroom. Thomas took a bath and I laid in bed. When thomas arrived in bed he cuddled up beside me and draped the blanket over our bodies.
“Thomas.” I said.
“Yes love?”
“Are you mad that we haven’t had a baby yet?” I asked him.
“No of course not, we are still trying. I wouldn’t never be made about that.” He said and gently kissed me.
“Can we try again. Right now.” I said. He nodded and that’s what we did that night. Tried to have a baby.
It’s been four months since that night and I’m now four months pregnant. Thomas is thrilled and we are planning. Harold and his wife are very happy too. Harold’s wife is pregnant again but only in her first month.
Thomas is very excited to have a family with me. One night I asked him if he regretted not going down with the titanic. And he said no. He said that he would have never been able to cherish me like he has these two years.
Me and thomas ended up having four kids. Three boys and one girl. Thomas died in 1951 at age 78. I never remarried. I died in 1965 at age 70. Thomas managed to live to see his first five grandchildren be born. I managed to see all my grandchildren reach the age of at least seven.
Me and Thomas are together again. With all of our friends, our friends that died on the ship and later in life. But we are together and at peace with people we love.

hello my good friend mx surge! what kind of music do you like/prefer, genre-wise? got any favorite songs? and then can i get some favorite lyrics? smile! and. tell me what characters/stuff the lyrics make you think of if you'd like to go that far! doesn't have to be any characters I'd know about or even any at all. i am Curious <- all /nf! do as much as you like. i love asking questions and hearing your thoughts 🫡🫡 —marley
hello my wonderful friend marley! eeee I love talking about music. this is gonna be a long one
(disclaimer: I am admittedly Very Bad at genres, so I'm gonna give you artists and maybe you can decide for yourself what genres they are)
AJR is a big one, I could talk for days about AJR. they're one of the only bands I've been to a concert for (very very good concert, very fun, very dramatic, highly recommend, they are clearly showmen, not just musicians, and that makes for entertaining shows). I'm unironically following someone on tumblr who posts ONLY AJR stuff because every time I see the name "AJR" it's like a visceral reaction that makes me grin. ooh, also Twenty One Pilots. I love then. looking forward to their new album
I listen to a lot of broadway. some of my favorites are Be More Chill, Mean Girls, Six, and Titanic the Musical, just to name a few. I love seeing live shows especially- I saw Something Rotten not too long ago, and the Nick was BRILLIANT it. was, admittedly, a high school production, but nonetheless. he danced a lot, even unchoreographed dancing in the background, just like, vibing, and it was so obvious that he was just having a good time and enjoyed being there (the actor, that is, not the character) and I just liked watching him
oh, and Sleeping at Last! I first discovered them by their Atlas: Enneagram album, because I'm a nerd and adore personality tests (I'm an INTP and a 5 in case anyone was wondering), but I've been slowly absorbing the rest of their music, and it's all so beautiful
favorite songs... hm. I can't not say "2085," the closer to AJR's most recent album, and perhaps the most emotionally devastating song they have released as of yet (which is really saying something). best lyrics from that song are undoubtedly the last bit, where they say "you gotta get better, you've all that I got," then it gets softer and the lyrics change to "I gotta get better, I'm all that I've got." HEARTBREAKING /pos. I mean, I like that part enough that I wrote a whole fic inspired by it. one of my very few angst fics. "All That I've Got," a Minnesconsin fic (link here if you're curious). by the way, the first song of that album, "Maybe Man," is also a banger, highly recommend
I love "96000" from "In the Heights" (I think it's only in the movie version, not the musical version? not 100% sure though). ooh this song makes me crazy. this song... ok. I can't talk about this song without being a bit weird about it, but stick with me. this song always makes me think of the people on the Titanic. I read a book once with fictionalized versions of a few of the Titanic's officers and crew members, and once I was listening to this song and when it got to Sonny's verse, all I could think about was how exactly it matched fifth officer Harold Lowe's vibes. it's not really the lyrics, but several of the verses just remind me of various crew members' vibes. and it's. it's just a great song
"Air Catcher" by TOP. that's another wonderful song. always makes me think of Iowa to Wisconsin, for no particular reason. best lyric is "I don't believe in talking just to breathe," which is an idea that always appealed to me
Tyler Joseph is a BRILLIANT lyricist, actually. other great lyrics by him:
"our words are loud but now I'm talking action" (Neon Gravestones)
"for us to think is to be alive / and I will try with every rhyme / to come across like I am dying / to let you know you need to try to think" (Car Radio)
"death inspires me like a dog inspires a rabbit" (Heavydirtysoul)
"haunted by a couple big mistakes / she covers all the dents with the way she decorates" (Redecorate)
"like an "I love you" / that isn't words / like a song he wrote that's never heard" (Shy Away)
I love "despair" by leo. always makes me think of florida talking to loui (in a queerplatonic way, of course). another great floui song is "Tightrope" from The Greatest Showman, but I picture this one as loui to florida
holy moly this is even longer than expected. I'll leave you with this for now. you've probably gotten a good grasp of my taste by now haha. thank you sm for the ask, I had a delightful time answering :D

Titanic Officer Barbie Movie Posters (and 1 fun fact about each of the officers!)
(Because why not)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Feel free to save as phone wallpapers 🙈
I’ve decided to include our babeypurser McElroy because the role of Purser is sometimes regarded as an officer role. Among all the officers, Lightoller (B), Pitman (5), Boxhall (2) and Lowe (14) survived the sinking. McElroy was the only officer whose body was recovered and identified; he was buried at sea.
Now to the fun facts!
Henry Wilde: he was already captain and was set to command the SS Cymric for the Liverpool to Boston Route. Unfortunately, the coal strike happened and his first voyage with Cymric was delayed to presumably 1st May. White Star Line decided to put him in onto the crew of Titanic as Chief Officer.
As you guys may know already, Henry Wilde is my favourite officer so it’s not surprising that I have been posting about him for this April. I also am currently doing a series of TikToks for his actions throughout Titanic’s maiden voyage as well🙈
Here’s my post about Wilde being made aware of joining Titanic
This is my post on the Crew Shuffle if anyone would like to read more about it
William Murdoch: Charles Lightoller thought his bestie’s moustache make him look ugly so he grew his moustache so that Will could shave. Nevertheless, we all think otherwise.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Charles Lightoller: of course, his role as one of the captains of the little ships during the Dunkirk Evacuation. He saved around 130 lives in it with his family yacht, the Sundowner.
Side note: currently, the Sundowner is a museum ship in Ramsgate but sadly, the yacht is in a bad condition and we need money to repair. I know I don’t have much high opinions on the British (yeah except Henry Wilde), despite having been living in England for almost 5 years, but Lightoller has been one of the most intriguing figures to me; being through 4 shipwrecks and fire, also living through Titanic, WWI, and Dunkirk, his story of hope and survival is worth a movie. If you would like to help preserving a piece of history, please consider donate to help save this famous getaway yacht little ship🙈

And here’s the campaign video by our TikTok Lightoller Fan Club President Melissa on saving the getaway yacht
Herbert Pitman: despite suffering from seasickness, this son of a farmer had a more than half-century long seafaring career, retiring in 1946. He started his career as an apprentice, then a deck officer and when he could not pass the eye test due to colour blindness at one eye, White Star Line made him a purser and he stayed in this position for the rest of his career. Pitman served in both world wars on troop ships; when he retired, he was a Lieutenant-Commander of the Royal Naval Reserves and was created an MBE in 1948, in recognition of his long service in the merchant marine.
Joseph Boxhall: he had a very happy marriage with his wife Majory and they were very fond of their dogs. This may be a substitute to children given that they do not have children together but anyways if anyone asked why you haven’t had kids yet, tell them about the Boxhalls and their doggos 🐶
Harold Lowe: he was a hobby artist who works with watercolours, as well as wood carvings. This may come across as surprising but you should not be surprised given that his father was an artist. There are a few of Harold’s drawings exists today, including a sketch of Titanic (in which he messed up with the funnels). Oh yes, he was also in the church choir as well when he was young.
James Moody: During his South American runs, he would sometimes flirt with female passengers with his very patchy Spanish and well, sometimes he just dropped in some swear words by accident. Yeah, in case you wondered, he’s not that shy as you thought after watching Ed’s portrayal of our daring Jim in the 1997 movie (the real Jim was quite cheeky actually).
Hugh McElroy: as the ship’s purser, he was there to take care of passengers’ needs (like he’s basically the “manager”). From parrot-tending (yes, and he trained the parrot to do morse code) to organising marriage ceremonies for runaway couples, he’s there to try to help. And as a result, he was a very popular man on the ship and passengers were honoured to share a table with him.

I just saw the new Titanic movie, Unsinkable: Titanic Untold, and I have thoughts. No huge spoilers, but I'll still put it under a cut if you want to scroll on past
Alaine Ricard is fictional. I have never been more disappointed in my whole entire life
Absolute disservice to Harold Lowe; all of his best moments were ignored. He had a little snark in the beginning but nothing else to show his brilliance. I don't think they even mentioned Lifeboat 14
They called Frederick Fleet a quartermaster at one point? It's clear they knew he was a lookout, but the lookouts didn't have the title of quartermaster, did they?
In the scene with all of the surviving officers, only Lightoller and Lowe talked, which, fine. I guess that's to be expected. Pitman and Boxhall do tend to get left in the background. But I'm like 99% sure there was only one other officer with them. Like? Which officer are we ignoring here?
"Songe d'Autumne" played in the end credits and I recognized it and I've never been more proud of myself
Maggie Malloy is my new favorite person
Harold Bride looked on the verge of tears the whole time. Especially when he brought up Phillips. (As it should be /j)
Really though, very entertaining movie, would recommend.

Can I just say Ioan Gruffudd is incredible. An INCREDIBLE actor! He literally got less than 5 minutes of screen time in Titanic. And the amount of pain, grief and guilt he was able to convey in shots that lasted LITERALLY FOR SECONDS.
