Update

Ever since watching the 1997 James Cameron movie, I found myself gotten into the rabbit hole of Titanic stuff. And of course...

Fanfictions.

I am not going to say which ones are good or bad but those titanic officer fanfics really caught be off guard—besides the shitload of Thomas Andrews fanfictions, of course. I found myself enjoyed some of them but most of them are just… meh. Nevertheless, I have stumbled across this one novel that worth a “Historical Fanfiction” style reaction-review.

It is so obvious that this is derived from a fanfiction based on the movie (it’s an Ewan Stewart on the cover), but I have seen reviews that are “good” enough for me to read and roast about this novel

And at least, the one website that talks about our good boi Wil Murdoch has given a short overview on what the f is this about🤔

I was thinking about letting this slide away but the price on kindle was just so tempting that I am thinking about getting a copy since it’s around £3 to purchase a Kindle edition. So, what do you guys think? A new series of historical fanfiction review?

If I am really doing this, the posts will not start until March or April since I need to work on my university postgraduate application first. ((Of course also read a bit more stuff on the Titanic officers before doing this🙃

Thank you, dear! 💙 I've realized it's actually quite difficulat to find three lines that stand out when you have 92 fics published on AO3 and can't really remember specific lines for any of them 😂 I did my best but I wouldn't necessarily say the once I chose are my top three as I'm sure I'd find a few more if I went back and reread all my works. Not to mention the fact that there are some lines I'm really fond of I haven't published yet 😉

The first step - Thomas & Julian (BBC Ghosts)

Julian looked at him, really looked at him, and for the first time since he’d met Thomas, he didn’t see an insufferable poet who grated on everyone’s nerves the second he opened his mouth but simply a man out of time who craved companionship but had no idea how to connect to people. They were surprisingly alike in that regard, if one discounted the fact that for as long as he could rememberJulian had pretended not to care whether or not people liked him whereas Thomas let the whole world know when his heart got broken. Where Julian had built walls around himself, Thomas had dug a moat. The result, in the end, remained the same: neither of their barriers could be overcome without help from the outside.

To love and let go Chapter 1 - Loki & Mobius (Loki TV series)

Loki glanced down at where their hands were still clasped and a look of regret and loss passed over his face. Their eyes met again and for one last time, Mobius felt Loki’s fingers tighten around his. “Goodbye, my friend.”

And that was it. The end of the road, the end of them. All Mobius had to do was say the words back and their story would be over.

And they didn’t live happily ever after.

The In-Between Chapter 6 - Archie, Horatio, Life & Death (Hornblower)

And yet he held onto life, held onto her, with such a surprising amount of strength born from desperation that Life couldn’t help but be drawn to him. She crossed the room, Death in her shadow, to sit on the edge of the bed, close to his failing body. She could feel him reaching for her even more now, his fingers digging into her very essence as if he could make himself stay alive by sheer force of will. It was remarkable, something she had rarely seen before, and Life wondered what it was that kept him tethered to the world against all odds: a girl, perhaps? Or a child he longed to see again?

When he murmured a name, almost like a prayer, Life leaned closer.

“Horatio.”

Not a girl, then, she thought, but love nonetheless. It was unmistakable.
