How the Pillars react to your death
Important note: all of these deaths occur during the infinity castle arc, heavy and implied spoilers. Rengoku’s reaction to your death takes place before Mugen Train! Reader’s gender is unspecified.
Warnings: this post contains spoilers for the final arc of the manga. This includes implied spoilers for various characters. Please do not read this if you don’t want to be spoiled and don’t blame me if you go ahead and read it anyways lol
A/N: I wrote this whole post in my head while showering last night and I’m honestly offended it took me 3x as long to actually write it.
Tumblr media
Giyu
“CAWWW! DEAD! KOCHO SHINOBU AND L/N Y/N ARE DEAD! THEY DIED AFTER A CONFRONTATION WITH UPPER MOON TWO!” Giyu’s body comes to a screeching halt, Tanjiro shooting past him before falling to his knees as violent sobs wracked his body. Giyu, on the other hand, is frozen in place, a sob stuck in his throat. Shinobu’s death was a punch to the gut, but you? For the first time since Sabito had died, Giyu felt tears burning at the back of his eyes. Yet, nothing would come out, those tears wouldn’t break the barrier and slip down his cheeks. His tight throat would not let the sob escape. There was no possible way you were gone, you promised him you’d be okay. Though, childish beliefs like that reminded him of his own faults. Once again, he couldn’t protect the people he cared about. Rather than wallowing in sudden grief, he began moving again, past Tanjiro who was struggling to get back up. He needed to keep moving, if he didn’t stop, he was certain he would collapse entirely and never get up again. He couldn’t let your sacrifice go to waste.
Tumblr media
Shinobu
Her feet barely hit the ground, body manoeuvring through the endless castle with one destination in mind. “CAWWW! DEAD! L/N Y/N IS DEAD! THEY DIED AFTER ENCOUNTERING UPPER MOON TWO!” She stumbles, shock hitting her like a bucket of ice water being dumped over her head. Her mind is racing, not willing to believe what the crow had just said to be true. You had steered away from the plan. In a desperate attempt to save Shinobu’s life you tried to defeat Upper Two yourself. Hot, angry tears are spilling down her cheeks, hand clutching her heart as she tries to understand. “Why would you do this? Why wouldn’t you take my word for it and go with Tomioka? Look what you did… you went and got yourself killed,” Yet again, Upper Two had taken something precious to her. One word flashed through her mind, alongside your beautiful face. Revenge. She would get her revenge, not only for Kanae, but for you. “Don’t worry, my love. I’ll be with you soon.”
Tumblr media
Rengoku
It’s quiet, too quiet even. You should be back by now, the sun has fully risen. Kyojuro’s heart is hammering in his chest, doom creeping up his spine. He has an unshakable bad feeling about your late arrival. His worst fears are confirmed when your crow arrives without you. “No…” breathless, as if all the air is being ripped from his lungs. “Don’t say it…” his knees are giving out as your crow lands on the wooden porch. “T-they’re gone…aren’t they?” he chokes it out, the words are as bitter and burning as bile. Your crow only caws, soft and full of sorrow, unable to share the proper message as Kyojuro begins to sob. He’s curling in on himself, crying so loudly but unable to hear it due to the intensity of the ringing in his ears. It’s a panic attack manifesting in the most intense form. He can’t fathom a world without you, nevermind having to live in one. Senjuro is rushing to his brother's aid, seeing your crow gives him more than enough information to know as tears well in his eyes.
Tumblr media
Tengen
He’s kneeling dutifully outside of Nezuko’s room, Shinjuro by his side. His wives are inside, too stubborn to sit out and not help at all. Their excuse being that Nezuko saved his life, they owe her the same kind of protection now. You on the other hand, were too determined, leaving your retirement to fight the battle against the demon lord himself. Nothing Tengen nor his wives said could convince you to stay on the sidelines. His heart is sinking the moment your crow appears in the distance, he’d recognize it anywhere. “N-no… don’t you dare…” Tengen’s voice is cracking as it lands, Shinjuro is turning his head the other way, knowing what is to come. “Don’t you dare say they are dead…” his voice is rising in his panic, he knows the answer. The commotion has Makio, Suma and Hinatsuru running outside. The moment Hina’s eyes land on your crow, a violent sob escapes her chest, falling to her knees as Makio and Suma come to the same conclusion. “T-they’re dead…aren’t they?!” Makio sobs, Tengen can’t raise his head as your crow delivers your final message.
Tumblr media
Mitsuri
She’s frozen in place as a crow comes directly for her, fear is ebbing through her body, a cold sweat forming on her brow. She knows the message before the crow can even utter it. “No! Go back! I don’t want to hear it!” Obanai is frozen beside her, grabbing her arm so she doesn’t collapse. The crow circles around her, cawing woefully as she begins to cry. “I-I don’t want to know! Don’t tell me!” she’s hiccupping as Obanai tries to pull her forward, they need to keep moving. “Mitsuri…” his voice is surprisingly soft, the crow is still circling overhead. “We need to hear the message…” she shakes her head, hands coming up to cover her ears as tears slip down her cheeks. The crow caws again, Obanai signals for it to deliver the message. “CAWWW! L/N Y/N IS DEAD! THEY DIED AFTER AN ALTERCATION WITH UPPER MOON ONE!” The crow continued on about who lived and who died, what was important is that upper moon one was dead. That didn’t matter to her though, no she couldn’t even hear the rest of the message over the ringing in her years. Mitsuri let Obanai tug her along, they needed to keep moving at whatever the cost.
Tumblr media
Muichiro
“CAWWW! L/N Y/N IS DEAD!” He keeps running, uncertain as to why he feels a tightness in his chest at the crow’s message. “THEY DIED DURING A CONFLICT WITH UPPER TWO!” He’s still moving, more so concerned over his unexpected and overwhelming sadness. Why am I sad? I don’t even remember that name… but then your kind smile is flashing before his eyes and the world is crashing down around him. He comes to a screeching halt, eyes wide as he finally pieces together the message. “y/n…” how could he ever forget? Before he realizes it, he’s sniffling. Tears blur his vision for a moment before he blinks them away. He begins to move again, the sadness gripping his chest is slowly fading, fading until he can’t even remember why he got teary eyed in the first place. He needs to remember the task at hand… where was he heading again?
Tumblr media
Obanai
The flapping of wings catches him off guard, head craning upwards as the crow begins to caw. The noise is full of sorrow, which can only mean it bears bad news. “Obanai…” Mitsuri is watching the animal circle above them, her heart pounding erratically at the endless possibilities of the message it may share. “CAWWW! L/N Y/N IS DEAD! THEY DIED IN BATTLE AGAINST UPPER MOON ONE!” Obanai’s feet are slowing, hitting the floor beneath him with a little too much force as the message rings through his head over and over. “N-no… oh… Iguro I…” Mitsuri is crying, staring at the man beside her as the world seems to cave in on him. It’s as if everything is in slow motion for a few beats in time. The words the crow uttered felt foreign, your name paired with ‘dead’ didn’t make any sense in his mind. It was impossible really, there was no way you were dead. You had gone to face Upper One with Gyomei, Sanemi, Muichiro… four hashira against upper One and you didn’t make it? You were so strong… no the message can’t be correct. “Kanroji… let’s keep moving.” he’s turning it off, every swelling emotion is being suppressed as he takes off again. Mitsuri is left with no choice but to wipe her tears and follow.
Tumblr media
Sanemi
Upper Moon One is standing before him, Gyomei at his side. This battle needed to be won, if not, everything would be lost. The demon before him needed to be put down, there was no other option. He’s talking, but he couldn’t be bothered to listen. Rather, Sanemi is gauging every vital point he can strike and how to go about doing it. “CAWW! I BRING A MESSAGE!” he doesn’t glace up, nothing that crow could say would be able to break his focus. “L/N Y/N IS DEAD!” except for that. Sanemi inhales deeply, eyes widening significantly as he debates on if he heard the message correctly. “THEY DIED DURING AN ALTERCATION WITH UPPER MOON TWO! UPPER MOON TWO IS NOW DEAD!” it feels as if all the air in the room had been sucked away with the crow’s flapping wings. Upper One no longer seemed smug about the message after the addition of Upper Two being defeated. Beside him, Gyomei is crying. Sanemi doesn’t realize it, but so is he. He’s oblivious to the hot, angry tears rolling down his cheeks. Still, his patience remains intact, waiting for Gyomei’s signal to attack the high ranked demon. Now, he has absolutely nothing to lose. Kagaya is gone, now you are gone, it is likely the rest of the Hashira wouldn’t make it out of this… he has nothing left to fight for.
Tumblr media
Gyomei “CAWWW! L/N Y/N IS DEAD! THEY DIED AFTER ENCOUNTERING MUZAN!” Tears flow freely as he fights, part of him wishes he hadn’t been able to hear the message in the first place. You had met the unfortunate fate of encountering Muzan himself. It was likely that you were alone, if you weren’t, you were likely the strongest in your group. It pained him, knowing you likely died a brutal death. That pain fueled his attacks, taking every ounce of heartbreak and despair out on the demon before him. You didn’t deserve that, nobody deserved a fate that cruel. He keeps moving, mind reeling yet completely focused. It’s as if he is fighting in a bubble, the world muffled around him yet perfectly clear all at once. Too many emotions are raging through his soul to really pinpoint just one of them. He can only hope you’ll wait for him on the other side, he can only pray you’re watching over him at this very moment. Guiding him, giving him strength. “I’ll meet you again soon, don’t worry. I promise I won’t keep you waiting much longer. Wait for me, please? You will, won’t you?”

Tumblr media
Warnings - FINAL ARC SPOILERS, Character death, grieving, blood, depression, very little comfort, FEM! Pronouns, reader is called wife
You knew the day would come eventually. Demon slayers never lived forever, no matter how strong or fast they made themselves. You knew that there was a high chance your husband wouldn’t make it out of the fight. As you sat next to him, gripping his hand for life as the battle plan was laid out for everyone. Kagaya explained his idea to you and the residents at the table. Two retired hashira, The entire Ubuyashiki family, Your husband, and you. Everyone was silent, listening intently as Kagaya spoke. “It will not be easy, but I know we are the generation that ends it, our team right now as the demon slayer corps will be the ones to end the demons.” You watched Amanes firm gaze as she looked around the table. Shinjuro Rengoku was the first to speak up, he had active participation with the corps since the passing of the late flame hashira, his son. “We will protect them, no matter what.” Tengen nodded in affirmation, silent as he gazed back at the master's unsteady gaze. Your husband was unusually quiet next to you, not even a sniffle was heard from him. “Gyomei. You are the only current hashira whom I am trusting with this plan. You are the strongest we have. Your will has always been unbreakable, use it to your advantage.” As he was addressed directly he finally shifted, The hands that engulfed yours squeezing a bit tighter before releasing, falling back into his lap. “Y/n, We asked you along for this meeting because we have a favor to ask. The children are still young, and this will be very hard for them and for you as well. This is war and we don’t know what loss will take place during it. Will you stay with them? Shinjuro and Tengen will be right outside the room but we ask that you stay with Kiriya, Kanata, and Kuina during all of this for support. Kagaya and I figured it would be easier than sitting at home worrying yourself sick.” You looked up at your husband who continued to stare straight ahead. “Yes, I can do that. They will need all the help they can get.” Amane nodded looking over at her husband. “There will be more individual meetings while we figure out schematics, please remain diligent in your work. Thank you again, all of you” Kagaya dismissed everyone before retreating back to his quarters alongside his family.
The plan was hard to digest, knowing that the war would start with such a huge loss for the corps. But it was smart, all of them would fight their hardest knowing the Ubuyashiki family was a casualty. Gyomeie chose not to discuss it much, continuing to work his hardest and prepare for the looming battle only he knew was closer than expected.
When the night finally came, the explosion shaking the ground you stood on the two of you didn’t hesitate, departing from each other with a flurry of kisses and mumbled love before separating, promises to return not heard. You tried your best to stay strong, supporting the children the best you could throughout the night, praying to Buddha as each slayer was announced dead. Friends, those who you considered family members all being announced dead as the night continued. It wasn’t until upper moon 1 was defeated that you had to step back, the announcement you had begged anyone who would listen to prevent. “Genya Shinazugawa and Muichiro Tokito have died in the fight against upper moon 1” The world shook under the weight of the words as they came out of Kiriyas mouth, your knees quaking as you tried to keep yourself upright, standing just behind the eldest Ubuyashiki child. The tears fell silently, the red beads Gyomei thrust into your palms before departing were sweating under the heat of your grip. Not my sons. The words ran through your head like a mantra, the rest of the battle falling on deaf ears as you cried, biting your lips to stifle the sobs you could feel itching your throat.
“Y/N? Can me and Mui join the others bathing in the river?” You didn’t look up from the fish grilling in front of you. “Dinner will be done really soon, sweetheart. Can you wash up here? You can sleep with everyone else tonight if that’s better?” A plate entered your peripheral, being held up for you to use. “Thank you” “You know. You remind me a lot of my mom.” “oh yeah? Did she deal with a lot of rowdy brats too?” Genya laughed as he grabbed the plate of steaming fish before swapping it with an empty plate for more. “She did! And she did a good job! She was quiet like you but when she got upset she was a whirlwind. She kept us all straight, she did a lot for us. Sacrificed a lot. You do too.” You looked away from the sizzling meal at those words. Genya had a sheepish smile, always unsure of himself when he spoke earnestly. He was a brash boy, never shy when he didn’t mean the words coming out of his mouth, but when he meant it, he was a whole different person. “It means a lot to hear you say those things Genya. I wouldn’t ask for a kid different than you. If me and Gyomei have the chance to have our own children, I would love for them to be as wonderful of a person as you. You’ve grown a lot from the scared boy I first met. Your kindness knows no bounds and your forgiving and gentle nature always shines. I can’t wait to see the man you become” You patted his cheek before turning back to the food. “Thanks, Y/N,” he paused, taking a step back “I’ll go set the table and go get Muichiro” “Alright sweetheart, don’t forget to wash up a bit!”
It was less than 24 hours ago, probably even less than 12 hours ago you were hoping for a future you could watch them grow. You had been raising Genya since he was so much smaller, still grieving the loss of his family and the abandonment of his brother. They were still so young. “Master!” The screams broke you out of your stupor, rushing towards Kiriya as he grasped at the blood dripping down his face. “I’m fine, are Obanai and Tanjiro okay?” sitting back up with your help. Uzui was on your other side, passing cloth over to wipe away the blood and stifle the wound. The next 30 minutes were tense, holding Kriya upright as he watched the battle, trying to figure something out that will help. You listened to his cries, his pleas for them to relax while he tried to redirect them to help them survive. Uzui was tense, holding Kanata upright while Shinjuro held Kuina, supporting the Ubuyashiki children. You felt powerless, not knowing how the battle was going or being able to see the chaos. You looked over at Tengen while the battle reached its peak. Watching his eyebrows furrow as Kanata recited what was happening. “The battle isn’t over, tend to the injured!” Kanata yelled out as Kiriya fall back, unconscious. Everyone rushed forward. “Y/N, you have to go, east, a crow will meet you” Kuina was pulling on your sleeve “There are a few horses out back, now” Tengen didn’t spare you a glance, attending to Kiriya as you were shuffled out of the room, confused and unaware of what was happening. Did you win? Was it over?”
It took 20 minutes on a horse before you arrived at the scene, a crow squealing for you to hurry up. The scene was disturbing, there was so much blood, so many bodies still being covered. A kakushi greeted you in surprise, seeing you on horseback. “Mrs. Himejima, I’m so sorry. He didn’t want our help.” The words had you faltering as you dismounted, stopping in your tracks and losing sight of the crow that was calling for you. “What?” The kakushi stopped, suddenly aware of your confusion. They reached forward, grasping your hand in their own. “This way.” They led you through the debris, many other greetings you with apologies before you were brought upon your worst nightmare. There were a few other Kakushi surrounding him, tears flowing down their faces while they tried to clean him up, dressing his wounds that had stopped flowing at the same time his heart stopped. “Mei” You gasped, alerting the others of your presence. They immediately stepped back, bows of apology as they rushed through their sorrows. “Gyomei, my love, no” You didn’t know where to look, your hands patting around his body, stopping at his face. He was still warm, not the blazing inferno he usually was but a dying fire. “Sweetheart” There was a ghost of a smile gracing his face, he looked serene, the same he did on the nights you laid beside him, watching him dream. His head was heavy as you held it up to look at him. The cut across his features had been cleaned, free of dirt and blood. “how long ago?” You turned back to the Kakushi that led you there. “right after Muzan had been defeated. He told us not to waste the supplies on him as he would die soon. He asked us to do something for him though.” You nodded, listening as you turned back to your husband, fixing his collar and trying to straighten out his torn clothing, making him look normal. “Mrs. Himejima. He asked that we tell you not to worry and live normally” There was a pause in her speech as you nodded, not trying to listen but also trying not to break down. “He said I quote ‘I love you and so did the boys’ he passed away shortly after with a smile. Mrs. Himejima. I’m so sorry. We all loved him dearly, he was a wonderful man who fought very hard. We couldn’t have done this without him.” You couldn’t stop the cries if you had wanted to, the grief was overwhelming as you listened to his final words. You could picture the serene look on his face as he spoke, hear the timbre tone in his voice as if he was speaking directly to you, holding you with the same gentle touch he always held you with as he spoke to you. You don’t know when you collapsed into him, vision clouded with grief and sorrow. You couldn’t even remember walking back to the butterfly estate, holding the hand of Nezuko as you followed behind the parade of kakushi, carrying the bodies of the injured back for treatment.
3 different funerals with 3 different caskets. The hashira were all buried near each other under the largest wisteria tree in the grove. There caskets circled the tree, all different shapes and sizes. You had given the Kakushi fresh clothing for Gyomei, gifting them his wedding attire as you had no use for it, you asked that yours went with him, there wouldn’t be use for it either, you were his until the day you took your last breath. The flowers surrounding the hashira had left a beautiful display, and the Kakushi who dressed normally, all grieving for their lost comrades had been a support for you, knowing they were loved, they were cared for. You were grateful.
It was after Sanemi fully recovered when you held Genya’s funeral. He was buried near Gyomei and Muichiro at the request of Sanemi. Since there was no body recovered you had done what you did with Muichiro, filling his casket with gifts and treasures. The prototypes of his weapons and a few pairs of his clothing. His favorite vest. You included the blanket he had come into your home with, the one his mother had given him. “Genya loved you so much” It was the first time you spoke since the funeral procession this morning. Sitting next to your husband's grave with the wind pillar. “I know. I love him too. I just wish he would have stayed away, I wish he would have lived a longer life.” You hummed in agreement. “I would have liked to see him and Mui grow up” You reminisced. “He would have made such a good adult, an excellent husband. Maybe you and Gyomei could have helped with his wedding and vows.” Sanemi looked up from the grass he had begun pulling out, meeting your teary gaze with his own. “Thank you Y/N, for taking care of him so well. You and Gyomei both. I was glad to see him be taken care of so well. He looked healthy and well-fed. Thank you. He loved you, I know he did, he was so obvious with it.” You gave a stiff smile, trying not to cry again, you had been crying so much and it was exhausting. “Sanemi, it’s going to get better. We have them watching us” He agreed “it will, we will live for them.”

How would the Hashira act when you tell them you're pregnant? Pt. 1
Tumblr media
Includes: Rengoku, Giyuu, Sanemi, Gyomei
A/N: This is my first head cannon and I'm still getting used to writing fanfiction, so I hope you enjoy!
_________________________
RENGOKU:
When you tell Rengoku, he is overjoyed
He will take off duties for the time your pregnant, except for emergencies
He will always insist you rest, letting you sit while he does the household work
Every day when he leaves, he'll press a kiss to your forehead and to your belly
He especially love feeling for the baby's kicks, laughing every time it gives a little kick to you
He would shower with kisses every night before bed, saying how grateful he was that you were the one to have his child
GIYUU:
At first Giyuu is surprised that you are pregnant
He was so surprised and happy that a few tears escaped his eyes, startling you
He feels hesitant about becoming a parent, thinking he won't be fit for the roll
But that doesn't stop him from making sure you rest, cooking, cleaning, and helping you out to make sure you don't have to strain too much
He still works during your pregnancy, but makes sure to return to you as soon as possible
He would gently hug you, rubbing your baby bump, whispering sweet nothings into your ear to pull you to sleep
SANEMI:
When you tell him your pregnant, Sanemi was happy, but also feels hesitant, almost scared that he won't be a good parent
He becomes especially soft with you, forcing you to sit while he takes care of work, and making sure to handle you with absolute care
He would massage your body when it became sore and cook you breakfast, lunch, and dinner when he could
He still works during your pregnancy, but he tries to be there for you as much as possible
Whenever you go outside with him, he gets over-protective, glaring at anyone who stares at you for too long
When you and him go to sleep he leans down to your baby bump, speaking to it and rubbing circles into it to relax you
He gives you and the baby bump a kiss before you drift off to sleep with him by your side
GYOMEI:
Now Gyomei gets overjoyed to the point tears start streaming down his face again, but for you that was normal
He tries to be home as much as possible, only going on missions that are required from him to go on
Since he's so big, he carries you around everywhere, insisting that you don't stress yourself
He handles you as gently as his big hands can, giving you gentle kisses and massaging you when you feel sore
The one thing you love most is when he gives you his big bear hugs, pulling on his lap and wrapping his burly arms around you, encasing you entirely in his warm embrace
Everyday, he caresses your stomach, saying how happy he is that you and he will have a child
He cuddles you in bed when you get ready to go to bed, spooning you in his grasp and staying up until you fall asleep

Thinking about how Uzui had to watch everyone he cared about die before him. First 3 of his siblings die during there fathers harsh shinobi training, then six he killed himself during a deathmatch where all of them were masked. Then Kyojuro died next, and the rest of the hashira except Sanemi and Giyuu during a battle he couldn't participate and help them in. Then of course Sanemi and Giyuu do die on the same year and four years later Tanjiro, someone he grew closer with also succumbs to death way too young.
Thats why Tengen's line of "Just how many lives do you think ive let slip through my fingers?" hits so hard because his life is just death. Everyone he loves is bound to die and he cant do anything about it.
So I made a little list of hcs on how he copes;
What uzui does at each of his friends graves;
Rengoku; He often has a picnic beside his grave, bringing along his wives and having a feast with all of kyojuros favorite foods, like sweet potatoes and bento boxes. He is the hashiras grave he visits the most and often talks to it and updates him on how life is going.
Shinobu: He brings the flashiest flowers he finds and brings them to her every year because it reminds him of both her and Kanae.
Muichiro: It is hard for him to visits his grave, especially when he sees it adorned with a picture of him and his twin brother when he was younger. But he makes sure to see it every year, and gives him a little gift, like a folded paper crane since he knew he like origami. He feels guilty that he didn't fight in the battle when muichiro, the youngest pillar, did.
Mitsuri: Like everyone else still alive, they visits her grave annually on her birthday and bring mochis to celebrate because it was her favorite food. However when everyone else dies, he makes sure to keep up the tradition with Nezuko.
Iguro Obanai: When he visits his grave he always teases him about how he's doing with Mitsuri in the afterlife. After that he sits down and talks about his snake Kaburamaru and updates him about his daily life.
Gyomei: He prays at his grave. Not that he particularly agrees with it or is religious, he just knows that Gyomei would appreciate it.
Sanemi: He visits both of the Shinazugawa brothers on the same day, since they are both buried next to each other. He tells him that he misses him because he knows Sanemi will be pissed by the sappiness and also because in truth, he does.
Giyuu: He usually sits down and talks for hours to him about how everyone is doing, whats going on and other mindless useless things. he knows that Giyuu doesn't like to talk so just like when he was alive, he can just sit and listen and enjoy the company.
Tanjiro: He always bows to Tanjiro's grave and thanks him, for saving his wives and being a friend for all those years. he tells him about Nezuko and Kanao and tells them that they all miss him very much.
Makio, Suma, Hinatsuru: When they all die before he does, he curses the gods for keeping him alive. He makes sure to have there graves next to his estate and sits next to there graves for hours until sundown. Sometime he even sleeps next to them.
I am not sure his wives dying before him is canon but Ive heard it from multiple people so I will assume so. Either way, Uzui's life is too tragic and I just cant get over it. He can never protect the people he loves the most. That man deserves a break from all the death and hug from all of his wives (+rengoku.) But it seems like Gotouge had different plans.

Hey!! Can I do a request? So, how do you imagine the hashiras with a child that don't have parents?
I'm sorry about my writing, I'm Brazilian and I'm really good at reading and speaking, but I'm really bad at writing for some reason, anyway, g'night!
Please, don’t worry. Your English is wonderful and your request is just as wonderful! I will do this! Thank you! Mui is, yes, aged up to adulthood for this
Tumblr media
Rengoku Kyojuro
He immediately runs to the crying of a lonely child. He missed somebody who needs his help
Kyojuro is extremely saddened by the traumatising sight before him. A little young girl surrounded by the bodies of her parents as she cries her eyes out
Kyojuro gently approaches her and attempts to lower his voice as to not scare her, introducing himself fully
“Hello, dear! My name is Rengoku Kyojuro and I’m your friend. I have taken care of that evil monster, would you like to come with me?”
He takes her out of the destroyed home on his hip and requests the Kakushi clean up the bodies as he tries to comfort the little girl the best he can
Kyojuro does everything he can to cheer her up. Act silly, give her his food, play piggybacks. He does it all so she’ll smile and eventually, he succeeds and it brings forth a smile of pride
He can’t leave her alone and helpless so he decides to try look for her family within the huge town, just to find out all she had was her parents
Then, Kyojuro just takes her in himself after deciding it was the right choice. He is a fully grown adult and can take care of children, he take cares of Senjuro so he knows how to
Tomioka Giyuu
The echoing cries of a child concern him as he immediately rushes to it. Is the child hurt? The demon has been slayed, is there another?
Giyuu finds a little girl clutching the body of her dead mother and next to her dead father, and his heart breaks. He relates to the pain of losing parents
Giyuu takes a few seconds too long to approach the child as he is afraid he’ll scare her. But he explains himself in the best way he can when he does
“Hey. Please don’t be scared. I’m the good guy, my name’s Tomioka Giyuu. I’m here to protect you, what happened?”
He helps lead her out of the house so the Kakushi can clean everything up as he listens to her
Giyuu sees the best way to comfort the child is to let her cry on his shoulder so he picks her up gently and holds her. He doesn’t speak, he just lets her cling onto him
Giyuu went around the town to ask the surviving townsfolk about her family, only to discover that she has nobody left
Even if he doesn’t see himself fit, he decides to take her in and look after himself. Everybody else won’t so who will?
Iguro Obanai
Crying? Somebody’s hurt. Obanai speeds off without hearing out the Kakushi as somebody still needs his protection
The sight before him disgusts him to his very core. A young girl hiding in the corner with her parents body thrown into the other wall
Obanai panicked in the moment. He was never good with children, he was very harsh to most people. Should he just let the Kakushi handle you? In a blink, he is before her explaining everything he can to try keep her calm
“Don’t panic. Don’t panic, I’m not here to hurt you. I’m here to protect you. The demon’s gone. My… name is Iguro Obanai. Can you come with me?”
He gently helps her out of the house whilst ordering the Kakushi to get to work so he can give his attention to handling the girl
Obanai has never been good at comforting but he picks her up so she could vent her heart out to him. Kaburamaru did his best to comfort her by pressing his snout on her skin
Obanai quickly gathers the townsfolk to find someone who can take care of the child. His mission is unsuccessful as she has nobody left in Japan
After a little while, he brings himself to the conclusion that he can’t leave her alone. He must take care of her himself. He will have to manage, for her sake
Kanroji Mitsuri
Her legs yank her in the direction of helpless crying the moment she hears it. It sounds like a child
Her heart almost breaks in half when she finds the source of the noise. A young girl holding the hands of her two bloodied dead parents and begging for them to wake up
Mitsuri instantly rushes to the girl and explains herself as she pulls her away from the bodies, out of a sense of protectiveness
“I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to drag you around! I’m a friend, I’m on your side! My name is Kanroji Mitsuri and I defeated the scary monster to save you”
Taking her away from the gruesome sight as quick as possible, the Kakushi enter as the Hashira and the girl leaves. In her arms, she asks the child to talk to her
Mitsuri, just like Kyojuro, does her best to cheer the young girl up. Playful hugs, braiding her hair, finding rope to play skip rope. Anything to make her smile
Mitsuri, as the girl tries to calm herself down, wonders around the town, talking to everybody she can to find out who can take her in and look after her but to no luck, she doesn’t have anybody
In a instant, she decides to bring the child to her Estate and look after her herself. She has lots of younger siblings and plenty of experience in caretaking!
Tokito Muichiro
Originally, the sound of crying wouldn’t bother him but the fact it sounded rather child-like was concerning so he took off
To find where the problem is and when he did find it. He wanted to puke on the spot. A crying young girl covered in the blood of her parents and their body parts scattered around her
Muichiro does consider his next move heavily as he slowly approaches the child. He’ll say hello, tell her who he is and bring her away from the bodies to figure out what to do next
“Hey— please, don’t be scared. I won’t harm you, I want to save you. I see… that this happened and I’m here to help it go away. My name is Tokito Muichiro”
Muichiro brings her out of the house in his arms, covering her eyes from the bodies so the Kakushi can take care of the mess
Like Obanai, Muichiro isn’t the most skilled at comforting but he listens to her and pats through her hair in attempts to calm her down
Muichiro runs around to try find any of her family members so they can take care of her. This doesn’t go well as he finds out she has nothing left
So, he takes her to his Estate and will try to take care of her himself. He is more than capable of looking after himself, how hard can a child be?
Shinazugawa Sanemi
Prowling for any spare Demons to dispose off. His ears are alerted to sudden loud crying and he almost dropped his katana to reach the child in danger
His anger and hatred over demons grew stronger in that very moment at what he saw. A poor innocent child with a cut on her knee and the headless bodies of her parents in the back
Sanemi doesn’t bother thinking, he rushes to her and picks her up. Surprising the poor thing as he explains himself with the softest voice and smile he can muster
“Hey. Please don’t cry anymore, you’re safe now. I will protect you, okay? My name is Shinazugawa Sanemi, allow me to help you with… this”
Sanemi basically jumps through the roof in a instant to get the girl away from the bodies, though, he didn’t need to order the Kakushi to go in as they did it for him
Sanemi is actually quite good at comforting and cheering children up, thanks to his past with handling so many younger siblings. He cuddles her and always responds with such caring words
Sanemi almost shakes down everybody around him to find you a suitable home, though, it doesn’t go the way he was hoping as he discovers the harsh truth of her lack of family
He can’t just leave the girl without a home so he brings her back to his and promises to take care of her with everything he has. He can do it, he has plenty of experience just as Mitsuri does
Himejima Gyomei
Silence enveloped the scene when blaring cries for help struck the Rock Hashira. He didn’t waste anytime to hear his way to them. A child that needs protection
He may not be able to see the scene in front of him but he can, for sure, smell and sense it like no other. A young girl crying over dead bodies, he jumped to assume they were her parents
Gyomei hesitates as he has grown afraid of children, due to his past experience with them, but his righteousness told him he must. He approaches her slow and low before explaining himself the best he can
“Hello, young one. I have arrived here to protect you, no harm will come before you as long as I am here. Trust me, my name is Himejima Gyomei”
Gyomei helps lead the child away from the horrifying nightmare she had to experience and senses the presences of the Kakushi going past, to clean up in that broken room
Like Sanemi, Gyomei is quite good at comforting, if not the best, thanks to his experience with childcare. He doesn’t try cheer her up playfully, he lets her speak until she has let it all out
Gyomei asks every single one of the victims he rescued if they know anything about the girl and her bloodline, all to such vanity when he must conclude she has no family left
Gyomei may be afraid of children but his compassion made him unable to leave the child homeless. He brings her to his Estate in a quick decision to take care of her until he can find a better home. He’ll have no problem with it after all
Uzui Tengen
He wasn’t only alerted to loud crying in concern but in empathy, he hated it when children cry. Especially if demons are the cause as he arrives as fast as he can
Disgusted and revolted at the hideous yet familiar sight, he had to lay his eyes upon a little girl crying as the mutilated bodies of her beloved parents sat in front of her
Tengen didn’t bother trying to be unheard or gentle, he needed the child in his arms and out of the house as soon as possible. He told her all he could
“Whoa. Whoa, no need to be scared of me. I may be big but I’m not a mean scary thing like the one I slayed. I’m here to stop the bad people and save you. My name is Uzui Tengen”
Tengen brought the child out on his back as he played with her whilst waking away, in hopes to distract her from her distress whilst the Kakushi enter themselves
Tengen isn’t the best at comforting nor cheering up but he is very playful and he knows how to be silly so he uses games and jokes to try keep her calm
Tengen went up to everybody he could find in the town with the girl tucked under his arm playfully as he asked them about her family. Learning that she had nobody to look after her now, his heart broke
Though, he did not skip a beat to take the girl to his Estate and show her off to his wives. He knew they’d love the idea of taking care of a child and he was excited over taking care of her too
Kocho Shinobu
She rushes over to the sound of a crying child at her top speed. There could still be a demon wondering around or somebody injured
She wished the image before her was a illusion so bad as her eyes dulled in raw empathy. A poor little girl alone in a chipped apart room with no parents around but stains of blood on the floor
Shinobu thought for a few seconds before she decided to gently approach her, she didn’t want to seem scary so she tried as she did her best to ease the girl
“I’m so glad you’re safe, darling. My name is Kocho Shinobu and I am your friend. Your protector, nobody will hurt you. May I help you up?”
Shinobu hides the girl’s head in her shoulder, carrying her so she doesn’t see the ruined house anymore whilst signalling the Kakushi to enter and clean up the pools
Shinobu, like the number of Hashira, is decently skilled in comforting children. She has many little ones she cheers up so she knows just to hug and stroke her hair until she calms down
Shinobu leaves the child with Kanao so she can scout out her family faster and get her sorted out faster but her efforts are thrown away when she finds out she has no family… how Shinobu related so much to it
She grew to like the young girl in little time so she decided to make it official and take her to her Estate, and look after her herself. She has lots of experience as she takes care of over five people everyday, one more isn’t a problem

LETTERS TO SANEMI
This can be read as a standalone, but if you'd like you can read my previous thoughts on Genya's literacy.
dear aNiki,
kocho gave me a Notebook today aNd told me to write down any after efects or experiNces after eating a demoN iN here but said I should also keep a jourNal to show you oNe day. she gave one to tokito to for his memory loss I thiNk.
she started teachng me how to write receNtly. she said if I caN’t become a hashira or talk to you by the time i've fiNished learNiNg, i can come up with a good apologi letter for you.
himejima-saN is very proud that I'm learNiNg how to write. he was sad he couldn't teach me Himself but Now I can help Him deliver messages he caN't write or Read.
i caN't do aNy breathiNg techNiques, but himjima-saN’s traiNing is iNteNse eNough that i can slay demons eveN without eating them sometimes. maybe i will be able to become the first hashira without a techNique.
Im Not sure yet Of what to write iN here, so thats all for Now. I hope you like the ohagi I seNt you. kocho said she'd pass it for Me.
***
Dear Aniki,
I'm very embarrassed to say this, but when I showed Kocho my writing it turned out I got a lot of things wrong. She was very nice about it when she saw how red I was but couldn't teach me today so the Butterfly Girls had to do it. I think they were too scared to laugh but it's embarrassing anyway to have them know more about writing than I do.
For one apparently I got all my captal (is that how you spell it?) letters wrong. Small letter n and captal letter N are also very different and it's confusing. And I'm glad Himejima-san won't find out I didn't write his name correctly.
The demon I ate the other day left me with a very weirdly shaped hand that hasn't gone away yet, so I'll stop writing for now since it's tiring to hold a pencil with talons. Kocho offered to cut my nails for me but I said no because she was going to use her katana.
***
Dear Aniki,
It really hurt me to find out you threw away my apology letter. I really want to apologize for that night but you keep pushing me away. Are you disappointed in me for joining the Corps or because I can't use breathing techniques? I promise I'll do better.
At least you didn't reject my ohagi. I found out because Tokito was eating it when I met him today. The Mist Pillar is really weird. I didn't know his amnesia was so bad to this state he wandered into the room I was staying in at the Butterfly Mansion thinking it was his. I found him standing by the window holding my gun without moving for about ten minutes. I thought he was a girl for a second so it kind of stunned me into silence. He didn't even notice I was there until I yelled at him to put it down.
It was really awkward at first because I had to explain to him it wasn't his room and he had to explain to me he wasn't a girl, then there was an awkward pause where we just stared at each other. He called me a rooster too…which is still confusing.
I find it really hard to believe he's fourteen and already a Pillar. Jealous, really, because he gets to see you and I don't. Although he called you a wolf and I'm not sure what that means when I asked him where he got the ohagi from and he said the “old white wolf looking Hashira…I forgot. I think I bought it…wait, but I didn't bring any money.”
Somehow I ended up agreeing to his demand of training with him first thing tomorrow to show him how to use a gun. Thankfully the side effects of the demon I ate is gone now.
Kocho told me he'll probably forget about it though.
***
Dear Aniki,
Today's my birthday. Do you miss me as much I do for you? I wish I can still celebrate it with our siblings and mom, or at least with you.
Kinzaki and the Butterfly Girls made me a cake. Kocho gave me a new yukata after I ripped my old one from my last fight. Her tsugoku gave me a coin for whatever reason. But I got really shy and didn't say much.
Muichiro forgot it was my birthday and thought it was Kocho’s, so he gave me her present. He thought it was funny to pin the butterfly to my hair. The girls started giggling at me so I chased him around the Butterfly Mansion.
Himejima-san gave me a cat. She's very cute. I named her Shizu, after mom. She followed me everywhere and even peed on Muichiro’s foot. He said she was stupid but later on I found him carrying her around.
Her white fur made me think of you. If you ever forgive me one day I'm sure you'll love her too. She likes the smell of ohagi too apparently.
***
Dear Aniki,
Rengoku-san the Flame Pillar and Kanroji the Love Pillar came to visit Himejima-san today. Rengoku-san gave me ohagi, so I thanked him but he said it wasn't from him. I'm praying this means you don't completely hate me.
Muichiro came over to Himejima-san’s estate today too by mistake, but he decided to stay and train with me anyway. He asked to see Shizu and that's when I realized she was missing.
How hard could it be to find a snowy white cat? That's what we thought until we (me mostly, Muichiro kept forgetting where he had looked) hunted everywhere for her. Then Rengoku-san said he saw her run pass him and when we looked she jumped off a tree and took off.
I still can't stop turning red whenever I think about how I slammed into Kanroji chasing Shizu, so I immediately ran off with Muichiro. I hope if I meet her again she'll have forgotten about it.
Dumb cat.
***
Dear Aniki,
Today that Kamado kid - the one who broke my arm back at Final Selection after I grabbed the Ubuyashiki girl; hope she doesn't hold it against me - picked up the stack of letters I accidentally dropped. You know it's the anniversary of everyone's death today, so I was planning on taking the letters I've been writing to them to burn. Usually I would just leave flowers and prayers at the shrine Himejima-san helped me make because we never got to bury them, but since Kocho taught me to write I decided to make a new tradition.
Anyway I knew he didn't mean to read them but I got mad anyway until he told me his family died the same way and he was happy that I was still honoring their memory of whatever. I wish me and you were like him and his sister. I wonder what would've happened if we had stayed together? I never meant to hurt you like that.
I don't remember writing any of this. Did I change my handwriting or something? Who's Aniki?
I've just chased away Muichiro. I can't believe he got our notebooks mixed up and started reading mine. I hope he didn't read anything…too personal. Foggy brained idiot just stared at me and left.
He came back later. He didn't apologize but handed me a watermelon. He's forgiven…I guess? I don't even want to know he got it from, especially when I can hear Kinzaki and that pig head boy shouting.
***
Dear Aniki,
Today's the day before the final battle and I don't have much time to write as much as I want to, so I'll make this entry quick.
Muichiro has become a much nicer person, and I've had a lot of fun with him over time. I'm gonna miss training with him and talking and cloud gazing together afterwards. I hope we both don't die. He called me his best friend the other day and although I got really flustered I don't want it to be the last time.
Kocho and the Butterfly Girls celebrated my “graduation” of learning how to write the other day. Maybe one day you'll be able to come and celebrate some other occasion with us.
I will never be able to repay everything Himejima-san has done for me. I owe him for the slayer I am today. I hope the wooden bracelet I carved will be able to convey it. I can write now but I'm no good with words.
I'm really grateful to Kamado and his sister for reminding me during the battle at the Swordsmith Village why I joined the Corps. I'm going to prove myself to you and apologize for once and for all. I don't know what I'm going to do if you keep pushing me away even after all this. I miss you a lot.
I swear we'll be brothers again after this battle.

Hi squiggly!!! I’m excited you’ve started taking requests again ❤️ Can I request for Demon Slayer: a Lee!Gyomei and a Ler!ChaosTrio (Tengen, Rengoku and Mitsuri) ?
Hope you have a wonderful day!~❤️
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've been combining alot of fics lately- apologies for that- but these three prompts all said Lee!Gyomei and Y'ALL..I had an epiphany. I hope y'all like it! :D
Cloud 9 (Taglist Peeps):
@myreygn @thatbigbisexual29 @duckymcdoorknob @wolfyeatstacos @gladdygirl18 @baby-tickles2022 @cupcake-spice13 @backy-san @t-wordiiish @sarahmaystock5578 @rachi-roo @mystwrites
Gyomei was known for two big things: incredible strength and tears.
It was no secret the gentle giant was a big bag of emotions beneath those steel muscles. A good chunk of the time you’ll always see him with tears streaming down his face, his head bowed in prayer as he whispered to beings beyond this world.
Still, today seemed…off. It wasn’t just that he was sad, but Gyomei looked…numb. His face was dry, but etched with sorrow so deep and painful it was hard to look upon it without feeling like crying yourself. He was only around long enough to greet the master before he was off to the waterfalls, leaving his fellow Hashira watching with wide, worried eyes.
“What’s going on, Master? Did something happen?” Sanemi was the first to speak- he was quick like that.
“It’s…complicated.” Kagaya offered, something pained in his smile as he turned his head towards the direction Gyomei left. “Gyomei is my oldest friend, and because of that- I will not share his sorrow. Do be kind to him these days; he is going through a great deal.”
No one knew what “A great deal” implied, nor did they really need to be told to be kind. For the most part, they let him be today; knowing he preferred his solitude.
In time, however- that was going to change.
~~~
“Kaw! Master Kagaya wishes to see you! Kaw!” Gyomei’s crow cawed from above, guiding Gyomei to the mansion. It had been a few days since…his disappearance. While he felt better, he was far from happy. Shame curled in his belly at leaving so abruptly- how could he just walk out on the master like that?
It was the pain in the other’s he felt that moved his feet. He could sense their ache for him and it became…overwhelming.
He should apologize to all of them. Would that help?
Just as he thought this, something brushed against the back of his neck. Pausing, Gyomei reached back, figuring it was a leaf or possibly a bug.
Nothing. Odd. He went to leave-
There it was again! Something soft and ticklish. Definitely a bug. He reached back, but the ticklish insect had already creeped up to his ears, prodding along the backs and making him shudder. “Wha-heheahhahha what is thahhaht?” He tried to grab it gently but it was far too fast, switching from ear to ear with rapid pace.
Something slithered against his skin, adding to the tickles. Ah, so that’s what that was.
“Iihihihihigurohoohoho! Whahahaht are you dohohohohoing?”
“Figured it was me?” The tickles stopped, the slithering retreating until he was completely free of the invasion. Obanai’s hand reached out and patted his shoulder before the sound of leaves followed. Gyomei was alone once more.
“How..odd.” He decided before going on his way.
~~~
“Gyomei-san! Good morning!” Shinobu’s sweet voice greeted him next on his walk to the master’s. He smelled salt water- Giyu was with her? “Come, come- have a cup of tea before you go!”
“Oh, but I shouldn’t keep the master waiting-” Gyomei began, but a warm cup was pressed into his hand, smaller ones pulling him along until he found himself sitting on a bench. “Well…for a moment.”
“Yes yes- having tea with friends is lovely. Isn’t that right, Tomioka-san?”
Giyu seemed surprised by this- Gyomei could feel him startle beside him. “Yes, it is.”
It would be rude not to drink. Gyomei raised the cup to his lips, taking a small sip. Then he drank some more, finishing the cup in one gulp. “That was lovely. Thank you so much, Kocho, Tomioka.” He reached out to give the cup back when fingers suddenly poked at his sides, making him stiffen. The cup tumbled from his hands, likely to break. “Ah! AHehahaha- whhahait, the cuuuhuhuhp!”
“I got it- you big klutz.” Sanemi was here? Gyomei didn’t even notice. “It must have been a good cup if you drank it so fast, huh?”
“Sanemi is quite good at making tea.” Giyu added softly.
“You two must have it often then.”
“We do not!”
“Hmmmm~”
Gyomei would have added his own opinion to the matter had he not been attacked by multiple fingers at once. “Plehahahhase, I muuhuhust seheehehe the mahhahahhaster!”
“Sure sure- let’s just make sure you’re ready for him. Hehehe.” Sanemi’s snickers were drowned out by Gyomei’s growing chuckles.
~~~
“How peculiar…what is going on today?” Gyomei mused when he finally escaped, sides tingling from the attack. The tea was quite lovely- and he was fed snacks after; all made by Sanemi. Tickles for a snack break?
First Obanai, then Shinobu and the boys? What was…
Oh.
Oh dear.
“GO!” Tengen roared from his left. Three pairs of feet were running full speed at him from three different directions. Had this been a demon, Gyomei would have been fine- knocking them aside with ease.
But as this was his fellow Hashira…
“Oof!” He yelped when Mitsuri hit his back, legs coming around his torso like a vice. Rengoku was on his right, grabbing onto a leg with a booming “Gotcha!” while Tengen finished the grip from his left. “You’ve got me. Now- what are you three up to?”
“No time to talk- team chaos: Attack!” Tengen commanded, and within seconds Gyomei was being ambushed by tickles once more. Mitsuri was scribbling her nails into his neck and ears while Tengen went for his upper ribs and armpits. Rengoku was at the base, squeezing his knee with all his might- so much so Gyomei dropped to the other one.
“Ohoohoohohooho gohohoohhodnehehehehhehess! Uuhuhuhuzui, Kahahhhanrohoohohji, Rehehehhengoku, plehahahhhahse!” Gyomei wheezed, giggling up a storm as he resisted the urge to move. This was the worst attack yet! They seemed to have learned all his tickle spots! How did…
It all came together now.
~~~
“Ah, there you are Gyomei. I’m pleased you’ve come.” Kagaya smiled in his direction as Gyomei took a knee, bowing. “Please, there’s no need for formalities. We are old friends, afterall.”
“Mas-...Kagaya. I apologize for my behavior the past few days. It was disrespectful of me to just leave so abruptly. I can understand now why you did what you’ve done.”
“Did what…huh?” Kagaya tilted his head, blinking. “What did I do?”
“Hm? You didn’t order the others to…?” Gyomei paused, equally confused. They sat in silence for a good few minutes.
Then…
“Pfft- Ohohoohohoho! Oh yes- now I remember!” Kagaya laughed, the sound unclenching Gyomei’s chest. “I didn’t give any orders, no, but young Uzui had came to me with questions regarding your…sensitivity.”
“Kagaya! You ratted me out!” The idea was so absurd he forgot to be formal. The  master giggled like a child, caught in the act with little shame.
“I merely mentioned a few spots to try. Come, Gyomei- I think you and I both can agree this was necessary.” Patting the spot beside him, he invited his oldest friend to join him. Gyomei wasted no time, taking a seat a step below so they were shoulder level. “Forgive me- you seemed so sad lately. It was the only thing I could think of to help.”
“A trick- and here I thought becoming the master would rid you of those.” Gyomei couldn’t bring himself to be angry- he was rather impressed really. Pleased too, knowing it wasn’t a punishment but rather an attempt to be kind. “I had quite the day with everyone- I wasn’t spared by a single soul.”
“Good. That shows you how much we care about you.” To emphasize his point, he scribbled a few fingers into the crook of Gyomei’s neck, making him scrunch away. “If you ever need time, Gyomei, please don’t be afraid to ask. You’re my dear friend first and one of my Hashira second. I never wish for you to suffer in silence.”
“....Thank you, master.” Tears rolled down his cheeks once more, but something warm was in his expression this time. He reached out, taking Kagaya’s hand within his own like he was handling a bird. “I appreciate it very much.”
Thanks for reading!

“I’m not coming home” Gyomei Hajima x reader
I’m feeling a little down today so y’all are gonna feel down with me.
Warning: SPOILERS! I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH THAT THERES SPOILERS IN HERE! After the second ~~~ line there’s spoilers, so you’re safe to read up to that point unless you are ok with spoilers! Anyway, there’s also: angst, blood, stabbing.
Key: y/n= your name, f/n= friend name, “”=talking, ‘’=thoughts💚
Tumblr media
I tried to make this as gender neutral as I know how to, I hope y’all enjoy💚
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was like any other mission, you and another pillar were sent onto a mission together. Being the new generation of pillars, the two of you were pared up quite often.
“Are you sure you’re ready for this mission, y/n?” Your boyfriend Gyomei asked. You smiled softly before hugging his arm.
“I am, don’t worry f/n and I will slay the demon and I’ll come home straight to you. I can’t wait to see you again.” You say, a soft smile on your face.
“How long of a mission is this one?”
“It should only be a 6 hour mission, if I’m not back by then you should maybe come looking for me.” You said with a laugh. “But don’t worry I can handle this, I’ll come back in no time.”
“Please be careful dear.” He places a small kiss onto your forehead before you let go of his arm. Once he could no longer feel your presence, he couldn’t help but to let fear and sadness fill his entire body. Gyomei recognizes your strength, just like you recognize his, but everyone knows how dangerous this job is. He has no doubt that you won’t come back alive, but there’s always that fear.
That fear continued to grow when that 6 hour mission came and went. It had now been around 8 hours, that “joke” you said played on a constant loop in the poor mans head. He couldn’t shake the feeling that something was terribly wrong, so, he did the only thing a good boyfriend would do, he went to see if you needed help. Normally he wouldn’t bud in, but he hated this feeling.
His feeling was right. Things had went south. The demon was quick to take down both yours, and f/n’s birds, so neither of you could call for backup, then he was quick to use his demon art to turn your friend into a puppet.
He was using your friend to try to kill you. Your friend was bigger than you, and stronger, they definitely had more experience than you when it came to fighting, so you quickly knew that this was a losing battle. While trying to stay alive as your friend threw attacks at you left and right, you searched desperately for the demon, in hopes that you could slay them, and your friend will stop, and you’d get to go home to your beloved Gyomei.
“F/n! F/n please snap out of it!” You screamed. your body ached, you had been trying to save yourself for almost 3 hours. At this point you wondered if your friend was even still alive or if it was just their body that the demon was using to attack you.
“Aww, I fear that our fun little game is almost done.” The demons voice rang through your ear. From that you were able to determine where the demon was hiding, the problem was getting over to it.
In a swift motion, you turned your sword to deflect your puppet friends attack, then pushed forward, luckily being able to knock your friend back as you quickly ran over to the demon, finding it, then slashing your sword into its neck. You had prayed that the demons neck would be soft, and easy to cut through, since you knew you didn’t have much time before the puppet would come back for you.
Your prayers were unheard, your sword was quick to enter, then come to a stop. No matter how much force you put into your attack, your sword was not going through.
‘Please, please go through, I’m scared, I don’t want to go out like this there’s so many things I want to do, things I haven’t gotten to experience yet, I want to see gyo again. Please, just go through!’ Your mind screamed right before you felt the most excruciating pain of your friend jabbing their sword into your back: once, twice, three times, maybe even more until the demon ordered them to stop.
Once you fell to the ground, you quickly started your recovery breathing, and tried to watch the events that followed.
The demon removed your sword out of its neck like it was a toothpick before releasing your friend. You still didn’t know if your friend was still alive, once the demon let them go, you heard a breath leave their mouth before they fell to the ground. Your vision started to blur. You had tried to calm your heartbeats, and just focus on staying alive, but you couldn’t. You know at this point, you don’t have much time left. Your heart was beating rapidly, fearful of what will happen when you pass. Gyomei had told you that once you pass you go to a beautiful paradise, but you have blood on your hands, you had killed so many demons, is that what’s really waiting for you on the other side?
Your thoughts were interrupted when you heard what sounded like a wrecking ball bringing down the whole Forrest. A very faint smile made it’s way onto your face. ‘Gyomei..but, how did he know..?’
After a few hits, everything went quiet. Originally you thought that you lost your hearing, and that your body was shutting down while you were still alive, but once you felt big warm hands swallow your hands, as Gyomei’s worried voice rang through your ears, you knew that wasn’t the case.
“Y/n! Y/n you’re going to be ok.” Gyomei tried to say calmly, but it came out sounding more like a beg. This was the first time you could honestly say you were happy that he was blind so he couldn’t see the state that you were in.
“Gyo..-”
“Don’t speak, you’re going to tire yourself out, people are coming just hold out a little more darling.”
Your hand gently squeezed his. “I’m sorry gyo..I’m not coming home..” you were able to choke out between sobs. You were glad that your last few moments was with gyo, but at the same time, you hated it. All of his emotions were written onto his face: fear, anger, sadness, regret, all of it.
“Don’t say that. Just keep breathing I can hear that the blood is slowing up, you just need to stay with me. I can’t lose the love of my life, I can’t lose the only one that has made me feel something other than sadness in my life.”
“I love you. I wish we had more time together..thank you for loving me. Thank you for being mine, in the next life I will find you, and we’ll be together again. Hopefully that time we can live a full life together. Gyo..the blood is slowing because I’m running out of blood.”
“No, no you’re going to be ok. Don’t talk like that. They’re coming just a few more minutes y/n hang in there. Don’t go, don’t leave me.”
With one last choked sob, you were able to say your last sentence. “I love you..I wish I could have went home with you…”
That weak heartbeat that Gyomei heard vanished. The scream he let out was heard for miles. The sound of a heartbroken person is one that will bring a tear to any person.
He couldn’t help but to cradle your body as he sobbed. You were the first person to talk to him, the first person to treat him like an actual person, the first person to try to understand all of his emotions and accepted that he cried a lot. You were the love of his life, and the person he wanted to marry and settle down with. Not only did he lose the love of his life, he also lost all of his hopes and dreams. In a matter of 25 minutes, his life changed for the worse.
“I’m sorry my love..I love you so much..I’m sorry.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*reminder: spoilers beyond this point*
Now, as Gyomei sits up against the broken wall, he wonders if you felt this much pain before you passed. The battle was far from over, he had to get up and fight, but all of his strength was gone. He could barely even sit up.
As his breath slowed, he started to hear soft giggles. He lifted his head to see all the children who passed all those years ago, and you.
“Y/n..”
“Sorry about them, they’ve all been waiting patiently to see you again. I must admit I’m sad that you didn’t get to live a full life, but I’m happy to see you, my love.”
Happy tears rolled down the stone hashira’s cheeks as the little kids started to run back towards you, all yelling “come on come on come on!”
“We’ll, don’t keep us waiting.” You said with a soft giggle before you helped your beloved boyfriend cross into paradise.
“I missed you so much my love.”

Kokushibo Headcanons
Tumblr media
Kokushibo’s realization of Yoriichi’s love and communication issues.
- Kokushibo only understood that Yoriichi had issues with communicating when he had taken in the the boys. The Upper Moon noticed the communication issues in the twins early enough to curve any major problems that it’ll cause. Since Zenitsu and Kaigaku were a bit older, Kokushibo had a harder time getting the boys to communicate to each other.
- With this realization, Kokushibo’s self-esteem plummeted. He was dealing with self-esteem issues due to his childhood, but realizing that Yoriichi did love him and did so in non verbal ways, made the demon feel even worse about himself. But, he hide how he was feeling very well.
- If Yoriichi is mentioned, Kokushibo will act as if everything’s normal. But, once only, the Upper Moon will begin to cry. One of the few who have seen the demon cry is Gyomei. So, when the boys feel that their father is in need, they’ll send the Stone Hashira.
- When Gyomei is called to look after Kokushibo, the human packs several items. A few key items are; a blanket, some tissues, a scented candle, matches, and container of water. Kokushibo is known for crying so much that he has dehydrated himself numerus times.
- While Kokushibo tries to hide how he feels, to a select few (Gyomei, Toktio Twins, Zenitsu, Kaigaku, Tanjiro, and Akaza), the demon is an open book. And they help were they can.

Hey guys, I am going to start Demon Slayer season and your questions are "Why is it Demon Slayer season??", "Are we allowed to have Demon Slayer One-shots, headcanons, and scenarios???", or "Can we have the best Demon Slayer season ever??" Well, it's because we have been watching, fan-girling, cherishing, and loving our favorite Kny/Demon Slayer characters so much, and I thought that I can create some Demon Slayer stories with the readers, Sure you are allowed to have them, but only 2 choices for 1 week, and of course we can have the best Demon Slayer season ever, all you have to do is request of your favorite Demon Slayer characters x Reader, choose a theme (like Fluff, Angst, Comforting, or even yandere) and explain why, anyways I better get going, and remember, once you wake up past noon, howl at the moon.
