Lessons from Exodus 2: Signs & Wonders

 1 John 4.1

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God.  Because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

The second thing that jumped out at me was the fact that Pharaoh called on his magicians and every time the Living God performed a miracle through Moses and Aaron, Pharaoh's magicians and sorcerers copied it.

And Aaron threw his staff down before Pharaoh and his servants, and it became a serpent.  Then Pharaoh also called for the wise men and the sorcerers, and they also, the magicians of Egypt, did the same with their secret arts.  For each one threw down his staff and they turned into serpents.  But Aaron's staff swallowed up their staffs.  —Exodus 7.10-12

Note that though the magicians imitated several of the miracles, the dark powers of Pharaoh's magicians were not unlimited.  They could not created gnats from dust.

The magicians tried with their secret arts to bring forth gnats, but they could not; so there were gnats on man and beast. Then the magicians said to Pharaoh, 'This is the finger of God.'  —Exodus 8.18

Note: The King James Version calls the plague 'lice', but the concordance translates the word 'gnats', as do the other translations.  Either way, the magicians were stymied and could not imitate this plague.

I've heard it taught that this was because Satan cannot create life.  While true, wouldn't that apply to the staff becoming a snake, as well?  I've searched the commentaries but have not been able to find a satisfactory explanation for the staffs of the magicians turning into snakes.

At any rate, the magicians were not able to turn the dust into gnats, because Satan cannot create life; only God can do that!  And so they were forced to admit that there is a greater power than the one they served.

Miracles and signs alone are not proof that a prophet speaks for God.  A few years ago, there was a Canadian fellow who purported to have a healing ministry.  People flocked from all over the world to attend the meetings he held in Florida, but he was a false teacher, a sham, who deceived many.

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God.  Because many false prophets have gone out into the world.  —1 John 4.1

Even the antichrist and his false prophet will attempt to deceive people with signs and wonders and false miracles.

Then that lawless one will be revealed… that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders.  —2 Thessalonians 2.8-9

He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down out of heaven to the earth in the presence of men.  And he deceives those who dwell on the earth because of the signs which it was given him to perform in the presence of the beast… —Revelation 13.13-1

So just because a ministry is accompanied by signs and miracles is no indication that it is truly of God.  We must be especially careful as we move through these last days, for the enemy will be gearing up for the last great delusion and will be using every trick at his disposal.

Take care that you are not deceived.

☀️ Apollo smiled and patted your head before standing and lifting you up into his arms to carry you back to the Gods’ infirmary, and once you came into the hallway of the arena, you looked at him and kept trying to whip the blood on his face away, claiming it would ruin his reputation if it stayed there and stained

☀️ While he healed, you stayed by his side, trying to make him tell you more stories of the battles he watched your father participate in, and because of how much time you two spent together, Apollo couldn’t help but start seeing you as his own

☀️ One day, he eventually asked a question that would make your life whole again;

guys i found a new technique for manifesting that has been helping me with my limiting beliefs

what has helped is when a negative thought pops up and arises, i say either in my head or in the mirror ❝whenever i think negative thoughts i attract miracles and positive experiences into my life❞ and just even with legit anything or this is just something i do for anything to feel like i attract my desires more for example: whenever i breathe, blink, drink or walk, $1000 flows instantly into my account why? because i fucking said so. and just affirmations like this so i can believe it more i guess just finding a affirmation that you can see your self actually believing in and constantly feeling this thought as true, then fucking do it.

although, if you are the type to stress about to when and the how when manifesting and questioning the law, this is what you should not do and common error a lot of ppl do: do not feel like you HAVE to constantly say your affirmations, visualise your dr, constantly switching back thoughts from your dr to your current reality, checking tumblr all the time for new methods that work like “magic”. this will just drain you and make you feel separated from your desire. instead trust the fucking law. if you feel triggers on trusting the law ask yourself why? question your beliefs take some time later throughout your day when you have finished work or whatever, a time when you are alone to journal or meditate, whatever you feel comfortable doing to really think deep on these limiting beliefs you are currently having about this desire. for example you desire to have $1,000,000. but when you think about manifesting those high numbers you start feeling triggered because that does not feel reachable you to have this. if you feel triggered, answer questions like this:

“when i think about receiving my desire, what emotions am i feeling, what do i picture in my head?”

“how can i change the way i feel and this about achieving this desire?”

“what actions can i do in my daily life to build my self concept on getting what i want”

once you have figured out the causes and how you can change your mindset upon them, go live your life living as if you already have whatever you want. if you need time to cool of the tension and exhaustion from putting so much energy to manifest, do it. take a few days or a week to not think about that burning desire and just live your life and then just decide you have and it’s yours.

On love and sacrifices

There’s so much more to this scapegoating business and big sacrifices referenced in the Good Omens narrative than the literal goats. And they’re only getting bigger, louder, final.

But let’s take it slow and start with the beginning, quite literally — i.e., with the Good Omens 2 title sequence. As we follow Aziraphale and Crowley on their journey, the universe warps and their usual left and right side positioning switches during the magic show (not accidentally an act of trust and sacrifice required both from the angel and the demon). They stay so throughout the next scene, which is their little dance in the air, and after they seemingly get settled on the A. Z. Fell and Co.’s roof and back to normal, the flipped sky in the background suggests that something’s not quite right yet. In the central part of the shot looms a large, humanlike shadow of the Elephant Trunk Nebula.

The nebula is a part of a constellation called Cepheus, after an Ethiopian king from the Greek mythology who agreed to sacrifice his only daughter in order to appease the gods and end a local calamity started by her mother and his wife, Cassiopeia (talk about generational responsibility). With time and a delightfully ironic twist of fate, the name of said daughter, Andromeda, became more famous than that of her father. Although she was chained up to a rock and offered to the sea serpent Cetus, the girl was spotted by the warrior Perseus, casually flying over the sea — either on the back of the Pegasus or thanks to a pair of winged sandals — after his victory over Medusa. He fell in love on the spot, defeated the serpent (with the help of a magical sword or Medusa’s severed head, depending on the varying sources), and freed the princess. That’s not exactly where their story ends, but we won’t be getting into the rest here.

Not surprisingly, Neil has mentioned two parallel child sacrifice stories from the biblical context back in August. The first is one of the big ones — The Binding of Isaac. God's command to sacrifice Isaac, his only son, was a test of Abraham's faith. The angel of the Lord intervenes and provides a ram to be sacrificed in the boy’s place.

The second one isn’t nearly as popular, but you might have heard a variant of it in fairy tales or as the Law of Surprise invoked in The Witcher saga. In exchange for Israel’s victory over its enemies in battle, Jephthah had rashly promised God to repay the debt with the first thing seen on his return back home. The victorious warrior didn’t suspect to see his only child moving innocently "to meet him with timbrels and with dances" though. In horror, Jephthah covered his eyes with his cloak, but to no avail: ultimately, he was forced to honor his vow to God, and the girl was sacrificed. As grisly as it might look like in the Old Master’s paintings, it’s important to remember that human sacrifices weren’t limited to physical offerings only — Jephthah’s daughter might have been offered to God in the sense of officially shunning her family and dedicating her life to service instead, probably sequestered in a temple somewhere.

Interestingly, the main character of a big chunk of the Bible and the reason for the Second Coming happens to be THE most influential child sacrifice in the modern history. You know, a certain 33-year-old carpenter sent by his Heavenly Father to die on a cross for the sins of the mankind? Someone better call Aubrey Thyme ASAP.

Circling back to Aziraphale, he could be also seen as a representative of the concept of filial piety, since Eden willing to personally take a Fall not only for the humanity’s collective or individual transgressions, but the shortcomings of his Ineffable Parental Figure as well. Our favorite angel angel always fights for what is right and good, sure, but why would that be even a thing if God was truly omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent?

If Aziraphale’s medal is anything to go by, it looks like we might get an answer from the way it’s introducing another mythological narrative into the game, that is the story of Daedalus and Icarus. The most absorbing thing about this is the stark contrast to the recurring child sacrifice references for S3 mentioned in this post — Daedalus isn’t a father who wanted to sacrifice his son, it was his attempt to save him from imprisonment that ultimately drove Icarus to his death. The boy ignored his father’s explicit instructions, committing the grave and culturally universal sin of disobedience to one's parents that simply couldn’t go unpunished, one way or another.

But Icarus’s transgression could be seen both as high-flying ambition and striving for personal accomplishment as well as humanitarian sacrifice for knowledge and humanity’s advancement in general.

Similarly to a certain angel who left everything for what superficially seems like a work promotion, but is the ultimate act of love — both for his demon and the children they have been protecting and nurturing together for six thousand years. From the very Beginning, his white wings have been shielding everything he holds dear in this world.

Breaking Bad had its problems but it is the only piece of media I’ve ever come across that acknowledges the inherently predatory nature of toxic masculinity in relation to boyhood… how it demands the sacrifice of future generations to the alter of ego, how it’s complete eschewal of the more “feminine” virtues, such as kindness and mercy, invariably results in the perversion of innocence, in the martyrdom of young boys. Brock, Tomás, Drew Sharp, the little red haired boy in Peekaboo… but especially Tomás, not only murdered over what was essentially a glorified pissing contest, but forced to murder in kind prior to being disposed of. And especially Jesse. Because there were so few women players in the drug trade, and because traditional masculinity, despite its pretenses of bravery, requires an exhibitionist show of force over those not in a position to retaliate, he is made to be The Bitch of the drug trade, a surrogate woman to be fought over, doted on, degraded, protected, and eventually discarded, specifically because he is younger and smaller than his colleagues. It’s an insidious and considerably less fantastical inversion of the myth of predatory effeminate queerness, where instead it is traditional, toxic masculinity that pollutes the innocence of boyhood to achieve a psychological high, and it’s the reason why Jesse is so steadfastly dedicated to shielding boy children specifically from the aftershocks of drug trade politics. But his attempts to mitigate the damage done to other boys in the name of traditional masculinity are beyond futile, at least as long as he himself is still subscribed to that mindset.

Look Kristen is a kid so its understandable and Ally is great and I'm sure has a plan for this. But Kristen should not be a cleric lol. I hope that after the wizard synogue incident Cassandra takes the Archfey deal to keep herself safe and Kristen loses her powers because honestly based on her RP that girl has NO wisdom. She has NEGATIVE wisdom. If you don't like the gods currently on offer but can't take responsibility for keeping a new one alive (because you're a kid) then you should just respec. Pick a charisma-based spellcaster class that doesn't require a bunch of work like the Int classes or responsibility like the Wis classes.
