#give Dean a happy ending
Text
You can't kill the writer and still have a story
I don't see this take a lot on here so I thought I would share.
Chuck makes it very clear that no matter how hard you try, you cannot escape the narrative. That no matter what you do, there is always someone else writing your story. Which in the case of a television show, such as supernatural, is very true. There is in fact a writers room making all the decisions. Now season fifteen is often stated to be out of character for nearly everyone involved. While I tend to agree, I like to look at it as coming full circle in a narrative saying that the characters are controlled by the outside force of a writer. What the writer says, goes.
Season 15 does give us some examples though of characters that supposedly broke free of their intended narrative, Adam marrying someone new for example. This is a plot device mirroring Destiel in my opinion and is absolutely a red herring for freedom.
If Chuck is a representation of the show writers for supernatural, who are indeed Gods of this universe they created, omnicient, omnipotent, and unkillable by anything they've created, so is Chuck. The out of character behaviors seen can be explained by Chuck faking his death. He got smart, saw the only way to win was to make the Winchester think they won, and be complacent.
This also confirms Destiel of course, because Dean has to loose Cas to loose everything.
Chuck is still writing their story even after they believe they won, because you can't kill the writer of the story and still have a story.

This is how the show ended right? That's how I remember it.
Doing all these different styles made me want to recreate that one scene from Howls Moving Castle.

in my mind dean was always supposed to get older and become the new bobby. like ok you're a hunter, maybe a little new to the scene and still figuring things out. and you're tracking down a werewolf, easy case. except some things don't line up quite right and now you're thinking it might not actually be a werewolf. so you ask around a hunter's bar and they all say the same thing. go to this one bunker in the middle of nowhere in kansas
and you're like sure what the hell. you're stumped anyway, might as well check it out. maybe it's a weapons storehouse or something. but then you get there and there's a doorbell and a bee-shaped welcome mat out front and you're starting to think you've got the wrong place. the door swings open and there's this middle aged guy with a robe and batman pyjama bottoms. and he laughs at the look on your face and tells you to come in, he doesn't bite. not since he got that vampire cure, anyway. you're not sure what to make of that last part but he winks at you when he says it so you figure he's joking. maybe.
he gives great advice about hunting everything under the sun and if you stick around long enough he'll go on and on about how he saved the world at least five times. ok sure. you don't want to be rude so you just sit there and sip your coffee politely while he talks about some guy called chuck and how much of a bitch he is. and another guy who's aged a little more gracefully comes padding down the hallway in a metallica t-shirt and rolls his eyes. has he told you about tvland yet? ('i was just getting to that part!')
if you go to the basement you'll find shotguns filled with salt, wooden stakes, holy water, and demon-killing bullets for sale. and if you're lucky the witch who sells hex bags might be around. low-grade curses only, of course. you better leave the powerful stuff to the professionals. and she'll get in trouble if she gives you anything stronger, not that she can't be persuaded. a girl's gotta make a living after all and she's always encouraged eager new witches. it's worked out pretty well for her so far. and then a guy you swear is twice your height will raise an eyebrow at her and insist she only sell the weaker hex bags, please. you don't need any more witches in your coven, rowena. you've got plenty
pagan god giving you trouble? there's a man who swings by every once in a while who knows how to deal with those. give him some candy or a fun magic relic and he might help you out. it depends. he's a little picky about dishing out advice and he likes to play favorites. and if you've got a demon problem they can give you the number of a guy who swears up and down that he used to be the king of hell. but you've seen him walking around with a purse-sized terrier tucked under his arm and a dozen more following him so you're not really sure if you believe him
idk i like to think that dean got to grow old and retire. that doesn't mean he stops helping people, it just means he hangs up his coat and becomes an old man who rambles on and on about 'back in my day' and makes a dent in his leather armchair. there's a foosball table where the dungeon used to be and sam complains about beer bottles being everywhere and it becomes a safe haven for anyone still fighting the good fight. it's just that for dean and the rest of team free will the fight is over. they're done hunting now

Broken (The Worst Is Over Now)
Author: Trenchcoat_Paradigm | Artist: P3ngu
Posting on Friday March 29
Dean almost couldn’t believe it when he saw that huddled body swaddled in a tanned trench coat sitting in the middle of the dungeon floor. Cas was back. After months of searching, digging through the archives to find a way to drag his ass out of the Empty, they had finally done it. But something was wrong. This wasn’t the Castiel that smiled up at him with a tearful goodbye after reliving his true happiest moment. This was a wild snarling beast of a man, warped and twisted feral thanks to the damage of the Empty. A man who would probably rip out Dean’s throat rather than confess his love. Even when Dean breaks through that wild exterior, he discovers that Castiel still thinks he’s trapped in the hell that is the Empty. That nothing around him is real. Dean just has to break through to him.
Keep reading for a sneak preview!
It was no longer bubbling as the mass took a more solid form, going from a puddle on the ground and growing into an arching peak. Shoulders, something in the back of Dean’s mind told him. It looks like shoulders, and a head.
The breath was stolen straight from his lungs as he realised that his theory had been right on the money. The form continued to shift into something that looked almost human. The black ooze melted away, almost like it had been absorbed by the thing it had produced. “Not a thing! A person hunched over, crouching.” His shoulders curled in on himself as he sat crouched to the floor, his back facing them. An oddly reminiscent pose that Dean had seen only once before, sat at the river side in the greying afterlife of Purgatory. The tails of tan trench coat pooled around him dusting the floor, the muss of dark hair just visible from where his head bowed, disappearing behind the huddle of shoulders.
It was like he was experiencing some kind of outer body thing, not feeling anything but just left watching. His legs felt heavy, like magnets were keeping him tethered to the ground and it was sheer willpower alone that he didn’t fall to his knees at that moment. Every emotion he had been keeping at bay the past months battled for attention inside his head, but their fighting war was counterintuitive, not being able to focus on a single thing essentially made him numb. He just stared blankly at the unmoving huddled figure in the middle of the dungeon floor.
He didn’t even realise he had moved until he was on top of him. Hand tentatively reaching to lay on his shoulder. A solid warmth beneath his palm and a breathy whisper escaped his lips. “… C… Cas?”
It all happened so fast that Dean didn’t even have time to process it—not until the shackles were around Castiel’s wrists.
That tanned shoulder flinched away like he had been burned, as eyes bluer than the midday sky turned sharply to consider him, but they soon clouded over with a dark storm of fury. His lips pinched into a snarling grimace as he lunged at Dean with a spitting and foaming-at-the-mouth feral roar. A hand locked around his throat as Dean was rushed backwards head colliding with the solid concrete wall and those fingers around his windpipe squeezed tight.
He saw his own panicked look in the dark of his eye as he gasped for air, not clouded over like a demon, they were still blue—beautifully blue—but there was something else to that stare, a haunted fearful look that Dean almost didn’t recognise beyond the fury.
Dean didn’t even fight back.

part of the many many bits of heartbreak over the jack arc is just sam and dean replicating their childhood dynamics from different places. jack is now sam. sam is now dean, jack's ally but at the end of the day, that means nothing when john's word is the final rule. and john is now dean, determined to keep his family under control, bc to lose control is to invite further death and despair into your home.

As the craziness of November 5th begins to unfold, I want to express how much I love Destiel. An angel who disregards heavenly orders to be with the man he loved, who was forever changed by his soul, becomes a divine being so filled with love he sacrifices his life for it. I have read so many fanfics and watched so many episodes, but that message will always stick with me. Because how poetic is that?

Well hey!
So after I finished my Marvel story I figured I’d jump back into Supernatural. This story is one of my favourites I’ve ever written, so if you guys wanted to give it a chance that would be amazing!

So here is the latest chapter of my giant fix-it for the end of the show, aka ‘the author gives Dean the love and support he needs while telling an angsty story of him getting Cas back,”

hmmm not sure how i feel about this but i just counted and the only seasons that i could think of that didn't have either a dean death, very near death, or dean trying to find a way to kill himself were s4 and s8....

cas coming back in any kind of spn reboot is a given, we know this. he'll interact with dean and we might even get dean addressing the confession. and i know jackles will be the driving force behind any reboot but his history with addressing dean's feelings at cons is like a damn yoyo - is2g if dean doesn't reciprocate and destiel doesn't kiss on screen i'm not watching it and it will join the annals of not-canon along with 15x19 and 15x20 and the canon divergence attempt at a fixit that was dean in spnwin. no destiel means spngate 2.0.

okay. i took a nap and i'm less upset about the whole thing now. but i still don't get the whole "izzy had to die so that ed could let go of blackbeard" idea. because izzy's spent the past couple episodes distancing himself from the blackbeard persona too! what does his death do that some distance and a healthy conversation couldn't? especially if ed's an innkeeper now and izzy goes off with the crew, in which case they wouldn't see each other much anyway

went into the notes of that poll going around about if people want more seasons of supernatural and was immediately slapped in the face with how different my priorities are in this fandom from. a lot of it. what are you talking about ‘destiel endgame’. girl the show has bigger problems to fix than that if it ever had more seasons. they taught a three year old that the best way to be loved was to continuously try to kill himself and then they made him god.
