Black Sails at its core is a tragedy, in that we know how the story will end. This is the nature of its existence as a prequel - we know the fates of many characters, as well as the fate of Nassau and the wider world because Treasure Island exists. We know Billy must end up on that beach, we know Flint must be long gone, we know John Silver must become Long, and we know the revolution fails. The events of the story are dictated by its ending, which we are told before the story starts.

And at the same time, because it is a historical show that uses real world elements and real people, it is also constrained by the bind of history. We know the pirate rebellion does not succeed; we know that slaves do not overthrow the British Empire in 1718. This is what's so brilliant about the way the show's cast is constructed. By using a combination of historical and fictional priates, the show locks itself into being a tragedy on multiple levels. The story of Treasure Island and the story of history both contain it.

Yet even within that, the hope it inspires is so real and powerful that it makes us believe that it can end some other way. We hear Flint or Madi talk about a world after England, and it is such a beautiful thought that we believe it might actually happen, despite knowing that that it can't.

Which is what's so brilliant about the climax, with Flint and Silver in the woods. Flint is raging, rattling the bars of narrative and history both, adamant that the world he envisions can be real. While Silver, the storyteller, knows the truth - that there is only one way the story ends, and the revolution's failure is inevitable.

...Or is it? Certainly, it doesn't succeed, but was it inevitable? So many characters talk about inevitability, but one of my favourite scenes is between Jack and Max in 4x07, where Max claims that war against civilisation is inherently doomed nd history proves that, and Jack points out that it's that belief that caused her to side against the pirates and cause the war's doom. The thing is that they're both right. History is fact, and also written in part because of what people believe will be written.

So the story ends with so many questions, and invites us to write the rest. We thought Flint's fate, drinking himself to death in Savannah, was sealed by Treasure Island, but now we have been told a new story. He instead finds his lost love and lives happily ever afer. Except, no, that itself was a story, and he's actually buried in the forest by Silver. The story's ending depends on the teller, and we are pushed into the role of teller.

And because of how the show is structured - fiction and history interwoven - we must consider how this fuidity in truth applies to history. We assume we know the story of history because we are at its end. It seems so inevitable in retrospect. Yet it never was, and isn't now, as it is being written. Maybe we know that Jack Rackham is arrested and killed soon after the series ends, because that's what happened in real life, but maybe we're wrong. Maybe there's something else. A story is true, a story is untrue.

Everything is built to make the awful ending an absolute certainty, locked tight in the dual cages of fiction and fact. But there is enough ambiguity and hope within to make us justifiably believe that it can end another way. Silver and Flint are both right. The ending was both inevitable and a direct result of the choices people made. It was always going to end this way. It didn't have to end this way.

Alright people, it's time for more Villain Leo lore!!!

Today we are diving into Leo and Splinter's relationship!!!

Read under the cut because this got so LONG, these two have so many issues and there was so much to work with.

Alright, so it's no secret that Leo and Splinter have a....less than ideal relationship. You can see throughout all of TMNT history that Leo looks up to Splinter an insane amount, and Rise Leo is no different.

This boy looked up to Lou Jitsu his whole life, and we can often see him doing the same movements and catchphrases that Lou did. Granted, all the boys do, but Leo seems particularly attached to Lou

And we've all seen the smile comparisons, it's insane how similar his grandiose smile is to Lou Jistu's.

The point is, Leo really looks up to his dad, and we can see this in his actions and attitudes towards not only Lou Jitsu, but also Splinter in canon.

"Trust me pops!"

I mean, just look at how happy he is to be there with his dad, in his element. This episode is Leo at his peak, outsmarting everyone and predicting his family's moments to the letter.

Also, idk about you, but that smile seems incredibly genuine. That's not even a Lou Jitsu smile, that's a 100% Hamato Leonardo smile at his dad whom he looks up to so much.

And what does Splinter say to his son's ask for trust?

"I knew I should have brought Purple!"

....what.

That is his SON. His 14, maybe 15 year old son, who is asking for his father to trust him.

....and he responds by saying that he wishes he had brought his more intelligent twin brother instead, who he has already shown an implied favoritism towards in the past

"And I thought Purple was the funny one!"

"Told you guys I was the funniest."

This is a pretty harmless comment tbh, but Leo takes so much pride in his quips, one-liners and puns that this had to sting a little bit.

There's such a huge amount of content to sift through when it comes to these two, and that fact actually saddens me because I had SO MUCH to pick from when making this post, but here's some highlights.

One thing that I noticed while watching a Splinter and Leo compilation is that during the memory episode, Leo is the only one Splinter directly hits

NONE of the other three were directly hit like this is any point in the episode and yeah, this could totally be played off as a bit or just a case of wrong place, wrong time, but we'll get to my theory later, right now I'm just laying out the facts.

An important detail I'd like to point out here too is Leo's face after the first hit.

Guys, he looks HURT. Donnie and Raph are looking at him, checking that he's okay, but he is looking right past them at the shadow Splinter, who is dressed and looks just like his childhood idol, who just hit him specifically right in the face.

Not only his idol even. No, the most pure and unfiltered representation of his father, the man who's raised him his whole life.

And he just got hit in the face.

Ouch. For a kid as emotive as Leo (who I honestly think feels his emotions even more intensely than Mikey when he lets them out), this is a devastating blow. Literally.

Then, let's talk about this scene, you all knew it was coming.

"Can someone tell my son I am NOT TALKING TO HIM!!"

"You got this pops! I love you!"

Guys this scene hurts my heart. Like, once again, he can't be older than 15 at this point. Yeah he's being a badass stratigiser this whole episode, but you cannot convince me that he wasn't at least a little excited to see his dad, his HERO in action, and wearing a matching outfit as well, and show his dad, his idol and hero, exactly what he's capable of. Leo absolutely worships the ground Splinter walks on and what does his father have to say to his son"s encouragement??

"NO!"

GAHHHH like yes, Leo was kinda being a little shit this whole episode and could have clued his dad in on the plan a little bit, but honestly that could have ruined everything if Splinter had any holdbacks.

Not to mention, this is the only Leo and Splinter episode we get. Donnie gets the derby, Mikey gets the Hidden City bonding, even Raph gets the ending of the memory episode, and in each, they have a genuine moment of bonding with Splinter.

Splinter never ONCE apologized for his actions in this episode. Not once. RAPH is the one who tells Leo in this episode later on that he trusts Leo, something he's been begging Splinter for the entire time.

All of a sudden, this moment doesn't seem so out of place.....

"I love you soooo much!" "No, no you don't, I'm your least favorite!!"

This line could totally just be a throwaway line, but as it was pointed out to me by the wonderful @nardos-primetime, the alarms that the boys did for Google home have a REALLY upsetting one for Leo

Go to about 1:57 and listen to that one and just......cry.

NOW that line in "Rat Flu" makes a LOT more sense. Splinter LAUGHED at Leo when he asked if he was his favorite. LAUGHED at him.

But wait, you may ask. What about the ending? Splinter made Leo the leader, obviously he trusts him!

....yeah, just take a look at their faces here.

Donnie and Mikey are basically horrified beyond belief and in complete shock

Raph is.....blue screening, honestly

And Leo looks completely taken aback and shocked and scared and honestly, I don't blame him. There is absolutely NO precedence for Splinter to do this. He has proved time and time again that he does NOT trust Leo, he never ONCE tells Leo that he trusts him even though he asks for that trust during the entirety of "Unhappy Returns". NONE of them look happy about this new change.

You could see this as Splinter finally giving Leo a chance, but I see this a lot more as one of the more popular Fandom interpretations of Splinter wanting to give Raph a break. Raph had a huge breakdown during the finale and I don't think it's unreasonable for Splinter to have heard of that and decide that his beloved eldest needed a chance to recover.

Who better to pass this burden on to than his least favorite son!

We also see in the movie that this shift in power dynamics really doesn't do much other than create a lot of interpersonal conflict between Leo and Raph, something Splinter does absolutely nothing to help out with, other than telling them to quiet down.

Now that we have all of our evidence (and I put more work into getting evidence for this than for the English project I'm supposed to be doing right now can I just cite this as a source for me being capable of gathering evidence???) we can actually get into the analysis of how this all would affect him.

First of all, I mentioned that I would discuss the repercussions of the memory episode. This analysis is more for Splinter, but I feel like it's still important. We've seen time and time again that Leo is very similar to how Splinter was as a young teen in both looks and attitude. If Splinter truly resents his younger self and how he acted, it would make a lot of sense for him to also subconsciously resent his son who acts a lot like himself at that age. This would cause him to lash out at Leo in his subconscious, the one place where his true thoughts and feelings are on full display.

I just wanna point out his face again here, Leo looks so hurt. He definitely already knows that he's not anywhere near Splinter's favorites at this point, but it still hurts him to see that get confirmed.

This brings me to my next point of Leo's psyche. He is a very confident, witty, smart teenager, but he's still just that. A teenager. He's anxious, insecure, and very self-reliant. He looks to others for praise often and rarely receives it, usually having to hype himself up. His relationship with Splinter only emphasizes these qualities about him and makes Leo look so much worse in Splinter's eyes because his son is just a modern-day representation of his past self.

Now let's put this into perspective of Leo's decent into villainy.

If Leo is hurting and under the impression that his brothers are maybe starting to dislike him, even hate him, adding Splinter on to this can only make it worse.

Maybe he goes to his dad for tips on how to lead when he feels like he can't talk to Raph anymore and needs his father's advice.

Maybe he sets up a dinner for him and Splinter to just chat and bond instead of sitting at the dinner table with another one of Mikey's meals that he feels too sick with anxiety from his little brother's disappointed looks to eat.

Maybe he goes to his father crying from another nightmare after not feeling welcomed in Donnie's lab anymore after they fought for an hour the day before.

And maybe, just maybe, Splinter waves him off every time.

Forgets.

Laughs at him.

I mean, this is a kid who relys on others to build him up, to praise him and love him because after all....

Who is he without his family?

Maybe it's time to find out.

LC's Link Click fic shout-outs

I worry I'm going to come off as nagging but I do feel strongly about it. Link Click has some INCREDIBLE fic, written by people who put a lot of time and energy and effort into writing, but they don't always get a ton of reader interaction. I feel like I often find a fic I enjoy, scroll down to comment, and find I'm maybe one of 2 or 3 people to comment on it.

Link Click is technically not a small fandom--on the contrary, it's so incredibly active! But it seems that unless a fic was published in the s1 era or happens to get lucky, this is the norm. Which strikes me as sad, because the fandom is popping and active on other platforms.

So here are a handful of fics (by no means exhaustive) of fics that I've thoroughly enjoyed that I had scrolled down and went, They deserve so much love! (again, not exhaustive!)

liminal by Anonymous

Qiao Ling and Lu Guang talk. Much is left unsaid.

It's such a subtle fic, but so effective in showing Lu Guang's emotions, Qiao Ling's worry, and the nature of their relationship in conjunction to Cheng Xiaoshi. It's truly just so soft and nice.

The only way for Cheng Xiaoshi to be dead is for Qiao Ling to have died first.

I just love a Qiao Ling confronts Lu Guang about Cheng Xiaoshi's death fic, and this one really captures big sister Qiao Ling and how much she cares about both of her boys. I love it!

resolve and reverberations by macrauchenia

Lu Guang rarely fumbles, rarely cracks, and rarely steps up to the sparring mat first. Nevertheless, on a random day in the middle of September, he does all three. Alternatively, Qiao Ling and Cheng Xiaoshi can't figure out why their best friend seems so *wrong* for no explicable reason.

A slice of life fic that adds such a delicious sprinkle of angst at Lu Guang's expense hehe. But it makes me feel so sad for Lu Guang, who just is so traumatized of losing Cheng Xiaoshi, and then it gives him a soft encouragement at the end. It's so sweet.

Instinct (Part One) by JordannaMorgan

Hired to solve a wealthy client’s personal mystery, Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang discover there are even darker powers in the world than they realized… and the damage left in the fallout will not be easily fixed for anyone.

Man, this fic is so CREATIVE. It is great at suspense, kept me on the edge of my seat from chapter to chapter, and the Cheng Xiaoshi angst is so delicious. And then the ENDING. gahhh, I cannot wait for Part Two and really hope that it will come!! I think about this fic so often

A Day Like Any Other by rane_ne

After three long years, for the very first time ever, Lu Guang finally gets to turn 20.

It's just ... gahhhh. Cheng Xiaoshi is my blorbo, yes, but Lu Guang being so relieved and emotional at the end because he's finally done it, and is turning another year older because he no longer has to dive back because his friend is alive??? GAHHHHH

Even for those who have no powers, photographs are powerful things.

This is a lovely case fic that is so thoughtfully, emotionally, and tenderly told. I love the compassion that the story has for the characters, and it gives me the feelings that the Earthquake arc concluded with--finding joy and kindness even within the tragedy. I really love it.

The first time around, there are no rules, and Lu Guang and Cheng Xiaoshi must learn all of their lessons the hard way. The first time around, Cheng Xiaoshi is the seventh of Liu Min’s victims. The second time around, there will be no seventh victim.

Gosh, this fic is so goooood. I love the speculation of what the first time round was like, and GOSH it's just such a gut punch of dramatic irony, of both CXS and LG being bold and idealistic and naive, and then how it tragically leads to CXS' death. It's EXCELLENT.

Golden Hour by StuckIn_aTimeLoop

The salty breeze feels nice. Cheng Xiaoshi smiles as he kneels down in the sand, happy they managed to make it in time for golden hour. Cheng Xiaoshi holds up the camera to capture his shot.

I LOVE ME SOME PARALLEL SCENES THAT ARE CONNECTED AND INTERTWINED BY AN EMOTIONAL MOTIF!! The juxtaposition of two types of golden hours is done so well, and both are so full of energy of opposite kinds in such a well balanced way. I was so excited when I heard this fic was being written and I was so happy reading it.

Cheng Xiaoshi was barely a child when his parents died. The king took him in, raised him as his own. Now he's older, it is time for him to choose his own knight.

I’ve been rereading the current anime arc in the manga, and finally got to The Apology™️, and I wondered what words Katsuki used before translation.

Disclaimer: I’m sure others must have posted about this before but I couldn’t recall reading it myself. I do remember there was a lot of talk about the way he used “gomen” as the Japanese fandom were saying how cute and childlike it sounded, so I thought I’d see if there was anything else interesting there.

Oh, my sweet sweet baby boy…

So, just before he says ‘Sorry for everything’ (ima made gomen), he says:

言ってどうにかなるもんじゃねェけど

本音だ

出久

“Itte dōnika naru mon ja nē kedo… Honne da…Izuku”

Which in the English translation, gave us:

And “speak my truth” is lovely and all, but the word from the original that stuck out for me was ‘honne’.

I’m not sure how familiar most people are with honne–tatemae (I only know about it because I go way way too in-depth when researching for my fics lol), but it’s a concept that every Japanese person is deeply aware of, and underpins much of their society.

Here’s the Wikipedia intro:

Ohhh, that is some extra juicy context for Kacchan’s speech. Essentially, he is saying that everything up until now has been his tatemae, a public façade to protect his own position (strong, powerful hero etc), but that he can’t keep that up and he wants Izuku to see his honne, his true, private self.

Excuse me while I melt from the cuteness.

But WAIT! There’s more!

How much do you know about second-person pronouns in Japanese? (Nope, this isn’t about ‘kare’ again this time hehe).

You’ve probably noticed in the anime that Kacchan says “Temee” a lot, and you may have also noticed that it tends to get translated as cursing. So it actually just means ‘you,’ but like a really rude way of saying it, such that the only way of reflecting that in English is to replace ‘you’ with something like Bastard or Asshole.

Again, have an expert explain:

This and the below are from a very excellent article about second-person pronouns and how they are used for context and drama in anime specifically. I’d recommend reading it as the context is really interesting!

So although pronouns aren’t actually commonly used or necessary in much spoken Japanese, when they are used, it’s a deliberate way to tell you about the relationship dynamic between two characters.

But why, you may ask, am I talking about pronouns again?!

Because, dear friends, throughout the first half of his speech, Kacchan uses ‘temee’ as usual to describe his past with Izuku. I’ve highlighted it below, and pls also note the shaky speech bubble showing his nerves during the ‘honne’ section. 🥺

HOWEVER, straight after he says he wants Izuku to see his Honne, Katsuki switches pronouns from ‘Temee’ (v rude), to ‘Omae’ (very casual/familiar). Below is the page after the apology.

Considering we now know pronouns are not necessary to convey meaning, that’s a hell of a lot of omaes on one page!! Boy cannot get enough of saying it.

If you want more about the different pronouns, see below for a helpful table of common uses for both. And please indulge my shippy heart for highlighting the second usage (but, like ‘kare’, you never know)…

Katsuki is showing Izuku immediately and repeatedly that this is who he wants to be to him and how he wants the world to see them. His honne, his inner desire, is to be close to Izuku, to treat him as an equal.

He’s not just saying sorry, he’s showing that—at least from his perspective—things are going to be different from now on. But, like, also, that this was how he felt about him in private the whole time?! GAHHHH.

So there you go, the apology that was already a massive turning point in their story/relationship was actually even deeper and more beautiful than we all thought. Yet again, Japanese conveys nuance and intention far beyond what can be translated. 😭💕

The adrenaline kept him going, kept him pushing, kept him slashing and fighting deeper into enemy territory.

It kept him til the eventual end of a battle.

The collection of the wounded, the tending of their injuries. The searching for friends and loved ones among the chaos. His certainty that they made it out okay.

The confusion when they weren’t among the wounded.

The adrenaline returning as he rushed out into the battlefield, eyes scanning the piles of bodies frantically.

The burst of white-hot fear in his chest when he saw a familiar arm under an enemy soldier, the limb splattered with blood and unmoving. Subconsciously moving towards the pile, throwing off bodies left and right until he reached them. Their eyes, open. A knife plunged into their chest. Their lips, parted as if seeing the sun for the first time after an endless night.

The war, glorified.

The acceptance centuries later.

The confusion now, as a familiar soul stepped out of a coffin at NRC’s orientation.

Lilia Vanrouge had seen everything. He’d been through so much to get to where he was today, and he was sure nothing else could surprise him. Maybe it was conceited of him to think so, especially when he’d seen your eyes and the secrets they held and thought that he’d seen them before.

He had.

He almost shuddered in his seat as the little cat monster threw a fit, but made no move toward you. There was no telling if you remembered him or not, and he hoped you didn’t.

Days passed by.

It was only when Leona overblotted that he really got a chance to speak with you.

“Prefect?” he placed a hand on your shoulder, tilting his head to get a better look at your face, “May I talk to you for a second?”

“Sure.” you turned around, and his suspicions were confirmed.

Nobody else in the world looked at him like that.

You were indeed them, come back from the dead to grant him peace in this world that moved far too fast.

“I must thank you for getting involved when our Housewarden was in danger. You were very brave.” he said.

Too brave.

“Malleus is precious to Briar Valley as the heir to the throne, and you stepping up to defend him has earned you my gratefulness and deepest respect,”

You got yourself killed last time.

You blinked, a bit surprised at his sudden admission before smiling.

“It’s no problem. You should be thanking Cater though, not me. He’s the one that exhausted himself with this plan. I’m just glad it all worked out.” you laughed.

Laughing in the face of hardship. Never taking credit for your achievements. Always telling Lilia you weren’t as amazing as he thought you were.

It was taking everything in him to prevent him from pulling you into his arms.

“Do...” you snapped him out of his trance, eyes narrowing, “Do I know you from somewhere?”

Lilia couldn’t stop himself from laughing, the sheer joy in knowing that you also held a part of that time in your heart overwhelming him.

“You do.” he smiled, wishing he could reach out and touch you but managing to hold himself back.

“Weird...I don’t remember you at all but I feel like I do.” you sighed, rubbing your temples, “I feel like I know your name, too. Is that weird? I’m sorry if that’s weird.”

“What’s your guess?” he chuckled.

“L...Lily? Lils? Something like that.” you answered, and he couldn’t help but beam at the clear recognition you displayed.

“Lilia. Lilia Vanrouge.” he nodded, offering you his hand, “I’m delighted that you remember. We used to be-”

“Vice Housewarden Vanrouge!” Crowley called out, “We need you to escort Kingscholar to the infirmary!”

“I don’t need to go to the infirmary. I could beat them all right here and now.” Leona grunted, shooting Crowley a glare.

Lilia sighed, patting you on the shoulder.

“I’ll tell you everything later.” he hummed, “There’s one thing you should know, though. You were important to me a while ago. Now that I have you back, I’m not going to let you go again.”

That night at Ramshackle, you quickly discovered that you couldn’t sleep. Your tossing and turning almost woke up Grim on multiple occasions, but he was quick to drift off again.

If only you could do that.

Staring at the wall, you couldn’t stop fidgeting and kicking your legs. What did Lilia mean? You two knew each other? You’d never seen him before in your life—and you’d remember someone that eccentric. Except you did remember him. But you didn’t.

Sighing, you flung your legs out of bed and threw the blankets to the side. There was no use in trying to sleep if your mind was all muddled. Sliding your feet into your slippers, you crept down the Ramshackle halls and out into the front lawn. The night air was crisp and cool, a gentle wind pricking your skin with cold air. Ignoring the shiver that wracked your body, you sat down on the front steps and stared up at the sky.

There had to be some sort of truth to the strange student’s words. You didn’t feel like you were meeting a new person entirely—it felt like meeting a friend for the first time in a while.

Friend?

That didn’t sound right.

You frowned, reaching up to rub your temples. Maybe you should wait for him to explain it to you tomorrow when you could ask him your questions yourself-

“I didn’t expect you to be awake.” Lilia hummed, hanging upside down in front of you.

You yelped, jerking backward as he landed gracefully on his feet.

“It’s been a long time since I’ve seen that expression!” he laughed, sitting down next to you, “Now, I can only imagine you have a lot of questions for me. I’ll try to answer them all. Just let me know if I’m starting to freak you out too much.”

“Um…wow, you just cut to the chase. How did you get out of your dorm this late?” you asked, furrowing your brow “I thought we weren’t supposed to leave.”

“Is anyone going to catch me around Ramshackle?” he shot back, a smug grin on his features, “We’re safe. Don’t worry.”

Well, you couldn’t really argue with that.

“You’re right.” you mumbled, turning your gaze to the ground, “...How do you know who I am?”

“You were from...my past. You’re obviously not the same person, but you’re too alike...” he shrugged, chuckling when you shot him a baffled look, “You two have the same feeling...the same soul. You have the same mannerisms and facial expressions. I would have to be an idiot to forget how you were before.”

“What were we?” you breathed, meeting his gaze once again.

“Isn’t it obvious?” he pursed his lips, tilting his head, “We were in love. You loved me so much you sacrificed your life for me. I thought I’d never see you again.”

“...What?” you shuddered, a jolt of recognition coursing through your veins.

Obviously you died.

You died in the field of battle.

You died in an attempt to stop someone from stabbing Lilia from behind.

He didn’t find you until the battle was over.

There were so many enemies he didn’t even see you fall.

Your body had been trampled, and then buried under enemies and allies alike.

You clutched your knees to your chest, overwhelmed.

Tears leaked from your eyes.

What a horrible thing to remember.

A warm arm wrapped around your shoulders, pulling you into Lilia’s chest. He held you tightly, pulling the shattering pieces of you back together. He rubbed comforting shoulders on your back as flashes of memories overtook you, making your head hurt so badly you thought your skull was caving in.

“I’m so sorry.” he squeezed you tighter, “I’ll never let anything like that happen again. It doesn’t matter if we end up together once again or end up apart, I will always protect you. You have my word.”

“There was so much blood.” you whispered, clinging to his jacket with all your might, “How…? How did we end up fighting? What happened?”

“I was one of the royal guards. I had to. You never should have gotten mixed up in it. You were strong, but if I’d known…if I’d had a little less faith in you…” he laughed, the sound more bitter than it was before, “You were just too strong. I thought you were ready. I’m so sorry for letting you go out there.”

“It wasn’t your fault.” you sniffled, pulling away from him, “I don’t blame you, so don’t blame yourself.”

“You’re a saint.” he said, shaking his head, “But no. I can’t accept your forgiveness. I should have been more aware.”

“But I’m here now, aren’t I?” you tried to smile, shaking away the thoughts from your head, “I…don’t want to think about dying anymore. It’s…strange. Almost paradoxical. It makes me feel everything I felt before I passed and I’m not sure why but it’s a horrific feeling.”

“You’re dealing with it well. You’re just as strong as I remember.” Lilia said, lacing your fingers together.

“Well…I’ve gotten used to strange things happening. I kinda don’t…care as much anymore.” you shrugged, “It’s not like I’m chill with me dying, but I’ve gotten quick at coping with things.”

“You shouldn’t have to be.”

“But I am.”

“But you shouldn’t have to be. I spent centuries mourning you after you passed.”

You flinched, and he winced.

“Sorry. No talking about your death.”

“It’s fine. I…I know we’re connected somehow, and maybe you’re the entire reason I was brought here in the first place, but…” you bit your bottom lip thoughtfully, “I don’t want to just go back to how things were back then, you know? I mean, I remember you, but I’ve mostly forgotten.”

“Don’t worry. I know.” he let go of your hand, turning his gaze back towards the starry sky, “I’m going to let you get to know me again. I’m going to help you through however many headaches and emotional breakdowns you get from remembering. You’re never under an obligation to spend time with me or feel the same way you did centuries ago. I’m content knowing that you’re safe, and if your fate in this life is finding someone else then I’ll live with that. But please, whatever you do, just let me protect you.”

“Of course.” you answered immediately, confident in your response, “I don’t know you at all, but something inside me knows I can trust you.”

He grinned, locking eyes with you again.

“And that’s all I need.”

Dragons Rising Season 2, Episode 4: Force From the East

I have nothing to say before we start. Let's gooo!

Soooo Geo x Cole is totally canon.

Did anyone else notice that Geo remembers the moments slightly different than they were?

Cole? Chef? Interesting.

I love how excited Geo is for new stuff.

I also love how Geo glows when he uses his powers.

I love the usage of Spinjitzu in Dragons Rising. It doesn't make me cringe like it usually would. Like, it actually feels like a cool and powerful fighting technique and not just... a thing they do.

ANOTHER EPISODE COMPLETE! I think what Iove most about this episode is that it literally just confirms how much Geo misses Cole and also that he is so down bad. Literally. Who stares at a picture of "just a friend" that much. He's in love.

This episode has the moment that I hate most because they ignore that Lloyd has dragon blood. I know he's not full dragon, but it's worth mentioning, right? Especially since Arin has very obvious Oni symbolism. Lloyd already had his Oni moment, but his dragon side has pretty much never been addressed. I need part 2 of this season to bring it up. Because the fact that it's being forgotten is annoying me, especially since the show has brought up past seasons before. (Morro, Tournament of Elements).

I love actor AUs and this post on twitter gives me so many thoughts like:

-How Lucifer pobably likes to do origami paper foldings and would post his lil creations to his social media accounts even during work

-how Al doesn't have social media and yet still one that has the most fans and said fans kept pestering him to make at LEAST a twitter acc

-fans only gets crumbs of this man's exsistence through other actor's pics and selvies and even then I think that would be almost rarely and aren't usually in the full picture/his face always blurs by motion or other things

-Luci doing livestreams more than meet-events that Involves too many people, don't get him wrong, he loves his fans (sane ones) but he just.. aren't much of a people person at most and rather interact through media

-Vox, Val, and Vel are always somehow together in every movie they're in that fans started to Call them "the Vees" and people actually like these trio

- the Vees always most likely taken villain/antagonist roles in every movie that they're the most iconic

-Adam doesn't actually know how to play guitar but he "thought it'd be sick" to learn (he didn't)

-Vox and Al *used* to be friends (they go all back since highschool) but something happened that made them broke up and rival eachother (like girls that still holding grudges)

-Charlie's father in every movies are ALWAYS Luci cause they're actually related and iconic

-Vaggie takes self defense classes since she was a kid and was always in the same schedule as Lute

-chaggie open relationship HIYAAA

-angel was discovered through his onlyfans acc and his first job as an actor was doing in the HH show (and he nails it!)

-Husk and Niffty was dragged randomly by Al (one unwilling and one willing) when the crew said they needed more actors for main roles. Al promised Husk copious amount of alcohol

-Niffty doesn't even need to act, she's just like that

-Husk looks at his script Exactly like the character he plays as. Like an old man.

-Luci is the oldest among every casts but he's still fit!
