Drifting through the pages of my big fat dictionary, A word, obscure to me, caught my eye.. "Prussic acid" it read ! Unsure of how to read it aloud I checked the phonemes given and found. However the meaning is what caught my head though "It's just an old-fashioned term", said the dictionary, "..means an acid...very poisonous !!" The next moment, don't know why this thought came to my mind.. "Well, why shouldn't the '"new"'-fashioned word for it simply be... A fake friend !" . . ©scribbles_of_chaos -kukkuthoughts . #seventh #scribbles_of_chaos #random_thoughts #dictionary #poison #fakefriends #prussicacid #old_fashioned #new_fashioned #obscure #writingprompts #writersofinstagram #poeticprose #poeticvibes #scribbles #free_verse https://www.instagram.com/p/Bhboi9qBfE5/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=sd7jothu4ap1

Washed Away
Nothing's changed except me and the facts
And the sadness I didn't mean to start.
But it feels different now you've said
It's wrong, and I still can't see your point.
And I think as water runs over my hands that
That's really all there is or can be.
The gold is wearing off the infamous ring
And something wears away from around my heart.

Daydreams for those who need them
Your brain is your safety blanket lit by projector.
You see yourself, a rose nuzzled in your face,
the sun caressing your neck as
a sweet breeze and scented trees
assure you that there is something
Anything
Everything
worth living for.
But,
then it all goes icy
Like the frost on a roadside memorial.
Like the way your mother glared at you,
or the way your father’s smile drops.
The breeze turns harsh, foul, cacophonous.
you’re back home, the scent not one of lavender,
but of self-loathing.
Dive back into your imagined oasis!
Quickly!
Chrysanthemums and cherry blossoms smile so wide
And provide the daydreams in which you’ll hide.
(if you’d be so kind as to upvote it at https://www.teenink.com/poetry/free_verse/article/989466/Daydreams-for-those-that-need-them/ I’d be hecka thankful)

Pinned!
Have you ever seen a pin?
Yes that one, the one which is silver in colour
With a pointy tip at the end
The one with which you used to pin up
Charts and diagrams and things you never wanted to forget
And when they would grow old
And you would have learnt and memorised them
The pins would come out
To hang up something new again
But have you ever wondered
About all the other pins
That the world…

So with poetry that doesn't rhyme how do you know like what to say or how to order it because i don't get how to do that and you are good at it so I was wondering if you could help. Thanks in advance, even if you can't help
ohhhh this is an amazing question let me mull over it for a minute. Ok so when I was 10-14 my poetry ONLY rhymed. I thought free verse was modern nonsense and Would/Could Not Write It. But then my first year of college I took a creative writing class which very much broadened my horizons, and convinced me to give it a try.  When I sit down to write free verse I do it in an empty house because that class taught me to read it out loud. to me, free verse is about rhythm and beat, making the words lilt and hit when you least expect them too, and using a lot of alliteration. It helps to have a good vocabulary, and a book (or website) of synonyms for when you want to say something but don’t have the right word. Also, Practice makes you more comfortable and willing to experiment, which is better than perfect.  I learned to write it by reading a lot of free verse, listening to a TON a spoken poetry, and listening to rap. You can find those videos on youtube, and maybe your town has slam poetry events? ANYway, I’ll stop rambling now, I hope this helped! thanks for the question, here are a couple links to more info! http://www.poetrysoup.com/poems/free_versehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_verse
