By using VAST, you can learn how to add accessibility tags for screen readers to your PDFs, by using Adobe InDesign and Adobe Acrobat.
I'm super excited to release a brand new publishing community resource: VAST (or Visual Accessibility Skills Toolkit).
VAST is a collection of short articles aiming to spread awareness about what visual impairments are, and how folks in the small press industry can accommodate them.
The guides are split into four sections:
Visual Impairment 101 explores what visual impairments are, how visually impaired people navigate digital content, and introduces some current language and definitions (circa 2023).
Screen reading PDFs explores the basics of how screen readers navigate through digital content. Includes video examples!
Using InDesign introduces different tools that designers can use to make their documents more accessible.
Putting Into Practice presents case studies of common structures in roleplaying games, and how they could be given accessibility tags using tools covered in section 3. (Coming soon!)
VAST was developed by Brian Tyrrell (me!), and disability advocate and accessibility consultant Yubi Coates. Visually impaired consultants and InDesign experts were brought in to corroborate the guides.
All of the information in the guides is up to date, and we’re committed to reviewing and updating the guides in 2024 and 2025.
This project was completed using a small pot of funding provided by Creative Scotland’s Create: Inclusion program in 2022.

It's very minimalistic :)) There are two different styles, the first one is more colorless & elegant and the second one is very much springtime-inspired pastel colors.
Have fun with it <3

NO AI RESOURCES ARE USED in these templates.
For clarity: outside of tumblr RP, we do work in AI industry. 99% of our resources will NOT have AI included. If it ever does, we will MARK it properly, and we will "SPOILER TAG" it for your safety. We ourselves have a design degree, and have art background. Sometimes you do have to pull a devil move and get money when you're unable to work elsewhere ;).
Hazbin images were mooched from Amino, we don't have personal caps of Hazbin.

Soooo found this free resource for floorplans and house designs and I'm sort of finally making houses in Sims 4 that don't lowkey embarrass me!
Figured I'd share for anyone else who, like me, is not architecturally-minded.
ANYWAYS just to warn everyone, I've been possessed by my whole Another Door story and haven't had any inspiration to play with the Orsons. I still have their save and know I will want to play them again, but can't promise when that'll be.
That said, I will be sharing some tidbits and screenies along the way.
Once this finals week is finally done I'm gonna be more
So, continuing off my last post, here's a quick and dirty font sampler book I've made for body fonts. Uh, please note, some of these fonts were included tongue in cheek ( <.< side eyes comic sans >.>).
Here's the link--print it, burn it, like or reblog or what have yee, it be free:
Body fonts are the main font in a typeset. Sometimes, I use the same font for the body as I do for the chapter titles and headers, in order to contrast against a really fancy drop cap. Body fonts are very important to any typeset, as the body font is what the reader is going to be staring at 99% of the time (that ol' objectifying reader gaze, ya pervs).
Personally, I like to use the IM FELL series for most of my typesets. The IM FELL fonts have a very old, rustic, hand printed feel to them with their irregular edges, while still maintaining readability. For texts with a more modern or sci fi feel to them, I like to use Crimson. Crimson has wonderful capitals and is very crisp to look at. For texts that are in between or don't quite fit those themes, I like to use EB Garamond or Baskerville, which are both found a lot in published books.
I've also seen a lot of other typesetters use Alegreya and Georgia as well.
Font size, leading, page size, and margins also play a role in what font to use. Some fonts work well at tiny sizes, some work well more leading, others less, etc. Best way to find what you like is to play around and do some print tests.
