and i just. Fucking Niche AUs I'll probably never finish part two:

-Call Center AU: Ed and Stede are middle managers learning to work together (and falling in love of course) after their companies and staff merged in a new big ass building (for fun: many rumors it's haunted. It isn't, Buttons just hates getting up early for work so during the week he hides out and lives in the basement.) Badminton & Co are trying to buy out their newly merged company with plans to fire everyone. Is this one just so I can shove in Murray Hewitt references with Stede? Partially! It's also bc i can throw in The Office references for my mum, who thus far will only read fic if I have a few in there & it's mainly comedy, and she hasn't read like any of my stuff fic or original in ages so. Yeah skdnfng

-NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) AU aka did u know aviation is another special interest of mine? u do now!!:

Ed and Stede lead separate teams as part of Aotearoa's TAIC (their version of the NTSB), and are called in to assist with an NTSB investigation re: a crashed plane & a dead Badminton bro as a result ( Either of the two we've seen thus far, w/subplot abt him being a dick who was super rich bc of a shit ton of rental properties in Aotearoa that he didn't keep up well and hiked rent on constantly bc he seems like the landlord type.)

However, as it progresses it becomes clear there's more at stake than just a plane accident investigation (tho obvi also v important still) bc it appears there might be sabotage involving ppl in both the states and Aotearoa (aka hi jack!! and any other random pirates or historical ppl i might add in lol.)

This is difficult tho, bc like. they didn't like this Badminton of course so him being dead is like well this will be positive for his renters at least maybe, but also holy fuck other ppl died as a result jfc what the fuck. so then it's a matter of do we or do we not reveal the whole truth & open up what would be a can of worms re: Badminton, but would be an utter disservice to the rest of the victims' families if NOT revealed.

Substitute Teacher AU:

A school has had just. horrible luck and a few scandals and now the entire staff has been fired and the district really doesn't wanna spend that much money on new ppl yet so

enter Stede and Ed as separate teams of substitutes, attempting to cover all the topics at a decently large school where tbh they could use even more teachers (enter Doug, Mary, Spanish Jackie who actually teaches French & likes how her nickname fucks w/the kids a bit lmaoo, & Jack as additional help)

Nigel & Chauncey both have kids at the school, and expect special treatment as a reward for donating generously to the school (not really that generously tho), which means they are Nightmare Parents. Like yes it's sad they're both divorced but like if u talked to them for five mins u would Understand.

Big events in it would be Parent/Teacher Conferences (Izzy and Jim end up having to manhandle a screaming Nigel outside after Roach asks him to tell his kid to stop trying to set things on fire in Home Ec), at least one school dance ("Ed, they're vaping in the bathroom, what do I do?" "Idk join them?" "Ed!" "What? They'll do it regardless!!") and the graduation of the oldest grade (I think middle schoolers would be both the cruelest and funniest option for this au) and how they'll actually miss these goddamn kids, & don't know if they'll be contracted for the same school next year as permanent or called in to sub more or what

Topics for everyone thus far:

Jackie-French as noted above. She also enjoys that the kids always think Frenchie should teach her class purely based on his name. Doesn't tolerate any bs during class & will send u to the principals, but if everyone behaves they get an extra point added to their grade just for showing up and being polite. For some kids, for various reasons, it's a life saver.

Frenchie-joint band and choir director with The Swede. Treated like a local rock star by the kids bc he tells them how back home he plays in a few bands, and plays gigs in between teaching contracts/assignments. A couple make fan shirts after they google and manage to find out the name of the band he usually performs with. They give him one too and he can't help but well up bc. kids man. one minute little assholes the next moment doing something so kind and unexpected!

The Swede- mainly choir director but helps with the band bc they have a huge class size but of course the district doesn't care abt that.

Ed & Stede-joint principals, also Theater. Ed jokes that he's the Fun Principal bc he occasionally lets the kids get away with like. smoking near the school or playing hooky. If he catches them they get a 'guys cmon if u keep this up i gotta stop u forever so like. be mindful' talk. Stede thinks he's truly the Fun One tho bc he keeps making up ideas for those funny dress up weeks schools do in the states and Ed we are teaching here so we should do as the Romans do, so to speak! (how does that work, it doesn't really as far as i know with a lot of teaching jobs but shhhhh fiction time.)

Buttons-shop related classes, any and all, including woodworking and a v basic automotive class (obvi they won't pay for a garage set up, so he has to rely on drawing and otherwise illustrating & using texts to teach.) Also serves as the lunch room monitor bc the kids are p sure the rumor that he once ate a guy is true, and no one wants to Test Him.

Jim-Gym. Took it on purely bc they think it's funny to hear the kids go 'its time for gym/Jim!' Another beloved teacher for being supportive when kids struggle with the class, and also bc if everyone has good attendance each quarter then they'll take a day to show them knife throwing (after permission slips are signed of course.)

Olu-Spanish, but defers to Jim a lot bc then he gets to talk to Jim and no he doesn't have a crush on Jim! Also occasionally bemoans to Jim for them teaching the kids to swear in Spanish. Jim finally kisses him during one such lovingly made complaint.

Wee John-Home Ec, sewing & other textile based art. One of the fave teachers bc he always has snacks in his classroom, and will let any exhausted kids nap during class so long as they turn in finished projects (first is a lil plushie, then a bigger one, finally they have to design & attempt an article of clothing. Doesn't have to be anywhere near perfect or even complete, he just wants them to try.) Once freed Stede after he accidentally sewed his finger to some fabric while mucking abt after school in the classroom.

Fang-any and all math classes. No one knows how he handles the work load, but he's always chill af abt it. Another student fave for being kind and taking extra time with kids that suck at math, or flat out have dyscalculia & require the extra tutoring as part of their IEP.

Ivan-Social Studies. He knows the kids find it boring, so he does his best to give it some extra shine by making up projects for the kids to do that are graded a little bit kinder than regular hw bc he's more concerned that they have fun (and might retain the info better as a result.) One of the kids' faves ends up being a journal assignment abt the Oregon Trail, aka write an Oregon Trail story that can be as dramatic and/or like the video game as they want.

Izzy-Head Librarian. Cannot believe they fired the library staff as well as everyone else at the school. cannot get over how little the district does to help keep up said library (books are heavily damaged & still on the shelf, new books rarely ordered, and literally the shelves are not in Dewey order. That makes a vein in his forehead twitch every day until he takes an evening to correctly label and reshelve everything.) Winds up staying late a lot to repair books, order new books (when he runs out of what little funding there is, he puts them on his own cc and just doesn't tell anyone, claiming them as charitable donations from 'an anon donor'), and otherwise do any additional upkeep to get the place up to par. Realizes halfway thru the year no one got assigned to teach the Health class, and begrudgingly takes it on as well. He teaches in a section of the library, with Mary taking over main library duties for that time. Has to deal with all the horribleness that is teaching middle schoolers that topic ("You can't all keep laughing every time I say penis or we'll never get through this chapter. And that's hell for you as much as it is for me!")

Roach-Home Ec, cooking class. also helps in the lunch room bc literally they did not actually hire any kitchen staff, the subs are told to do that too. He winds up telling the kids they can help by prepping the ingredients for their lunch in his classroom, then he'll take it all to be finished for lunchtime in the industrial kitchen. They end up loving it after the first week, bc he brings in recipes that are decently healthy but that most the kids are up to trying or already like.

Mary-painting substitute if Doug is out for a day, but mainly works alongside Izzy in the library as the assistant librarian. Yes they gossip abt Ed and Stede. Yes they have a running bet on when they'll finally announce a relationship and fill out that paperwork with HR (this immediately starts a side convo for them abt the shoddy quality of the paperwork & how slowly it gets filed. They admit to being sticklers at times, but also they're right.)

Doug-art, painting and sculpture. Always up for weird art ideas, and has the graduating grade (even if they don't take his elective course) make a mural before the end of the year. They each get a framed pic of it, and he plans to have each graduating class redo the wall each year, should he be contracted for another full year.

Jack-biology/gen science. Encourages the kids to 'really get into' the dissections. Does his best to try and get the district to agree to a field trip to the local morgue to see a full on embalming, but is told uhhhh no bud. Accidentally reveals a parentage issue for a few kids while using eye & hair color to teach Punett squares.

Lucius-Creative Writing. Has a loving feud with Pete bc most of the kids are in both their classes. Said kids have bets on if Pete or Lucius will propose to each other or not by the end of the year. Makes a point to be a safe place for any kids with writing that may point to some other issues going on in life (based off my hs lit mag teacher Dr. Brenda Werner. No joke, she saved my life as a kid, I think Lucius would be the same for his class.)

Pete-Newspaper/Yearbook. Very big on making sure stories are accurate, bc 'ppl doubt my stories a lot, so you need your details and shit in order.' The kids: ooooh he swore!!!! and promptly do not absorb this knowledge fully. But they enjoy his class bc he's chill and is happy to let them explore what options journalism can offer, and to research odder stories for internal class articles vs school paper ones (Missing: David, Where's Shelly? vs Cilantro: Should Roach Use It In Our Lunch Or Does It Taste Like Soap.)

It's so crazy watching this in 2022. IU and Jiyeon are so young. I can't with IU fangirling over Taeyang lmaoo. Kahi looks the same and still hot. Lee Jin is always beautiful. She's so pleasantly there, and it's so charming. I like how mellow she is. She also seems wholesome. I highkey think she's the funniest despite everyone saying she's boring. I loved Lee Jin the entire interview employee episode. She looking amazing in her outfit. Her interview was so funny. I love watching the members get along and having their moments. e.g. In Na and Sa Yeon imitating dogs and puppies. I think Nicole is really amusing and cool. Narsha is like an older sister I want. They're all so funny. Nicole defining Korean words is like the most beautiful and amusing thing. Sometimes, it's so wise and sometimes, it's just so funny. Nicole is more often than not, very intelligent, confident, capable, and strong. I love and admire it so much. I like Lee Jin and Kahi's friendship. it was nice to hear all the vulnerable stories in the teacher episode. You expect parts of it since the path to success is difficult, but these are good reminders and how struggles are different and the same. It's definitely inspirational and they're supportive words that I personally never hear in real life, so it's nice to hear it from people who are optimistic despite what goes on. I love IU tripping as the rabbit mascot. I love how people are so crazy for food. Ngl, I respect In Na and her ease in lying. I love how accurately they mimic each other. I love how IU does things so enthusiastically. I honestly respect everyone because they're doing soo many things that they don't need to/don't know/aren't good at, but they still do it with a hardworking attitude. The Seo In Young birthday prank was so emotionally hard to watch. Cute moments: IU hitting herself on the head, the grandmothers in the village learning slang words. Jiyeon and IU's relationship is cute. How they're both ambitious but friends. I love when you can see how earnest and hardworking people are. e.g. when Lee Jin scoops elephant poop with no complaints, when the popular team was trying to get revenge in the safari ep and tried to discipline the late-comers and the other team really heard it and felt responsible.

Funny moments: when they were imitating each other in pj's, In Na shouting for the grapes back after Jiyeon abandons her team, whenever In Na lies, Lee Jin finding dad jokes amusing, all the interviews for getting a job was so funny, Kku Kku pig and Seo Taeji joke was gold, Hwi Jae's poison dart thing, Lee Jin accurately guessing Narsha's rolling game answer of one bang and it's over, Narsha digging the sand for the buoy. There are too many funny moments to even document it all. Omg lmaoo at the Hee Joo girl living a dream with Eun Hyuk for her teaching lesson. Lmaooo at Narsha and Soo Ah's moms being the VIPs. chapter 135

what preparations is utahime making? like i’ve mentioned before, i theorize that she needs to charge up in order to use her technique. since momo and the other kyoto students are fighting on the front line to buy time for utahime, i believe that they trust that their teacher’s ability can help turn the situation around.

what do the students think of her? do they think she’s weak?

chapter 128

mechamaru manipulates the circumstances in a way that allow him to keep the kyoto people away from danger. this has more to do with how much he cares about his classmates and his teacher rather than seeing them as incompetent sorcerers who can’t hold their own. notice how he says “EVEN utahime”.

kamo thinks mechamaru doesn’t have that much faith in the Kyoto students—but this isn’t true at all! he knows who the enemy is and has a grasp of how dangerous they are. he just wants to keep his friends safe. besides, kamo is a semi-grade 1 sorcerer which means he’s more than capable of defending himself against curses. but since he’s being kept safe too, it suggests that this is not a matter of keeping weak people away from fighting :)

chapter 41

this seems a bit off topic but let’s talk about the misogyny in jujutsu society. momo points out to nobara that the women from the zenin clan are expected to be perfect. the misogyny runs so deep to the point where some women aren’t allowed to even fight. you may think that this is just about the zenin clan but it’s about society as a whole. that’s why nobara responds to momo in a more personal sense. she doesn’t care about the boys versus girls issue because she embraces all aspects of herself. she loves herself when she’s strong, and she loves herself when she’s dressed up and beautiful. if it only applied to the zenin family then nobara wouldn’t have responded the way she did.

in the chapter before, nishimiya explains, “even if a girl has skills, if she’s not cute, she’s looked down upon. of course, if she’s only cute with no skill, it’s the same. women sorcerers aren’t expected to be skilled, they’re expected to be perfect.”

some of the female characters in jujutsu kaisen apply to this. for example, maki and mai. they’re looked down upon because one can’t use a cursed technique or see curses, while the other’s cursed technique is weak. in chapter 148(?) naoya says the only thing maki had going for her was her face, but it’s ruined now so she’s nothing. the zenin twins fall under the “cute but not skilled” category in jujutsu society. before we can put utahime into a category, let’s examine mei.

i promise this will all connect so please bear with me LOLLL let’s move on to mei. we find out that mei has the ability to control crows. she deems this ability as weak because it’s simple and doesn’t have much attack or defense power.

she convinces herself that a sorcerer’s worth doesn’t revolve around their CT. by following this ideal, she soon found herself at her limit because you can only hone your physical abilities to an extent. she said she was crushed because she thought that her weak CT would forever stunt her ability to grow as a sorcerer. but because of all the training she did in order to not rely on her CT, she was able to combine her physical prowess with her technique to make what’s best of her ability to control crows.

mei is an example of a perfect woman based on the standards the jujutsu world has established for women. although she has a weak technique, she makes up for it with adept use of weapons and physical prowess. she found a way to incorporate this “weak” ability to make it something strong. she’s beautiful and powerful so therefore, she was promoted to be a grade 1 sorcerer. she is what a woman is expected to be in order to be acknowledged by others.

what about utahime? why couldn’t she follow the same footsteps as mei?

i can’t answer that because we don’t really know much about utahime so far. i can only speculate why. being a grade 2 sorcerer at 20 is not bad at all. but why is she stuck as a semi-grade 1 sorcerer at 31? that surely proves she’s just weak, right?

semi-grade 1 sorcerers are sorcerers who have performed well on missions with a person accompanying them. i feel like when utahime was on a mission to exorcise a grade 1 curse on her own (the final step of the grade 1 promotion process), something happened that gave her her scar and made her unable to fulfill the mission. it’s either that or she did complete the mission but her appearance is too unsatisfactory. can you recall what nishimiya said? if you’re cute and not skilled, you’re not good enough. if you’re not cute and skilled, you’re still not good enough.

in men, scars are a symbol of honor and strength. on the other hand, scars on a woman’s face are seen as an imperfection. as a result, those who are scarred are deemed imperfect and unsuitable for marriage.

gojo hates the way things are run because the higher ups are so close-minded. they make decisions on a whim and have no compassion for sorcerers who are breaking their backs on their orders. he wants to change jujutsu society for the better by raising the next generation of sorcerers to be as strong as him. the old-fashioned and narrow-minded attitude of the higher ups leads me to believe that utahime is stuck as a semi-grade 1 sorcerer because she is viewed as imperfect. utahime’s scar is most likely the reason contributing to her being held back. who would want to promote a woman who isn’t beautiful enough to be a grade 1 sorcerer?

she obviously has a lot to offer because she’s a teacher at Kyoto. todo, a grade 1 sorcerer, has never shown any sign of disrespect towards utahime despite the fact that he surpassed her in rankings. he trusts in her and believes she has some things she can teach him.

can we additionally address the fact that gojo respects mei? he refers to her as mei-san and says that there’s no way she’d cry because she’s strong. mei has a weak technique though? 🤔🤔🤔 controlling crows?!?!?! nah im jk, mei is strong with and without her technique, of course. since gojo respects someone like mei, a person who doesn’t have an out-of-this-world technique, i believe his view of someone strong isn’t solely based on their technique. when he calls utahime weak, he may not be insulting her CT. it’s just all jokes because in chapter 65, geto and mei join in on the fun too and pick on her. mr. hot shot knows that utahime is a valuable asset to his plans so he entrusts her with the task of unearthing the traitor(s). if she was so incapable of such a thing, why did he pay mei to do the same job? 🤔

*a lot of people think mei was actually paid by gojo to promote his students but that’s incorrect. it goes against everything gojo advocates for. he wants his kids to enjoy their youth because his was taken away. being a sorcerer is not a smooth job and no matter how many years you’re in the profession, it never gets easier. he doesn’t wish for his students to be thrust in a world full of hardship and loss, which is why he was so against yuuji and yuta’s execution. he works hard to preserve the innocence of his students. he doesn’t want yuji’s heart to break, not even once. why would he pay mei to promote his students to grade 1? that would automatically strip them of their innocence and youth and push them into a world full of burden and pain.

PHEW that was long. how does this all tie back to utahime’s future role in the story?

her CT will probably come in clutch in an important battle

she might be the one to help get gojo out the box (A REACH i know)

she will help gojo with his plan to overthrow and change jujutsu society as a whole

i don’t really have to dive into the first bullet point. as for the second one, look at what i found!

in the second opening, utahime is seen searching for something in a dim forest.

*i read an analysis about opening 2 and apparently this just symbolizes her looking for the traitors. that makes sense too.

in chapter 144, this scenery pops up right before they enter master tengen’s base(?) the branches are thicker than in the opening but it gives the same vibes to me. i think utahime will be the one to break gojo out.

why utahime? well, gojo is their best shot at stabilizing whatever the fuck is going on right now. she knows it’s a crime to unseal him, but she wants her students to be safe so she’ll probably risk it. plus, gojo’s flashback starts with him breaking utahime and mei out of a building with a barrier.  i think utahime breaking gojo out of the prison realm will make a perfect parallel :3

that theory is a massive ass pull I KNOW. it’s just fun to think about. it’s likely that kurusu hana will be the one helping yuuji and megumi out with that.

if utahime isn’t the one freeing gojo, she will definitely come face to face with the other traitors.

ive read numerous Reddit threads and tons of users think she’ll play a small role in the story—nothing too significant. i’m perfectly content with that as well. i never expected her to be gojo level or anything like that LMAOO. as long as we get to see her technique in action, i will be satisfied 😮‍💨

To anyone who’s ever been a student,

ok you can ignore this if you don’t have the attention span to read long paras but i just have shit i need to get off my chest and i need to know if i’m the only one who thinks this way. (but i really hope ppl read it even if its blergh)

for context: there is a lot of rage down below lmaoo also i’m currently doing my bachelor’s in education (early childhood education) so basically a more fancy way of saying i’m going to be a teacher in the future (if i don’t burn down my uni and violent throw shit at the profs teaching me) 

ok so let’s get into it. (also my brain is a mess and this is the most unorganized shit and may not make sense or be articulated accurately but i hope it somehow gets my message across)

so a few days ago i sent this email to my prof asking him a couple of questions about a presentation we’re supposed to do and in one of the responses he writes “by definition and by common sense” which sounded really passive aggressive and just needlessly rude to me. as someone who gets anxious very easily because i am sometimes unable to grasp the tone of written words. so i asked a few friends and they did say it sounded passive aggressive. which i was like. okay but why did he have to be so mean abt it cause he’s the one who said to email him if we had any questions. so i did it. LIKE YOU’RE THE ONE WHO SAID I COULD EMAIL YOU LAWRENCE DON’T BE A DICK TO ME I’M OVERWORKED AND TIRED which just got me thinking of something we were discussing in another class this other day. 

the discussion was on the phrase “there’s no such thing as a stupid question” and how the prof teaching the class goes ‘of course there are stupid questions’ and then proceeds to ask a boy in class “what’s two plus two” to which the boy obviously says four. and then he asks the class ‘was the question stupid’ and then the entire class responds with a “YES”. which was lowkey very fucked up to me. HERE’S WHY.

because to me that’s where it starts to go wrong in classrooms. like where you think simple stuff like that is considered ‘stupid’. there’s so many people who still struggle with math and who still have to ask out loud what 2 plus 7 is POINTING TO MYSELF. and that’s where it starts from isn’t it. where then everyone else around you goes ‘omg are you stupid it’s obviously 9′ YES YOU NEUROTYPICAL FUCK WHOSE BRAIN WORKS JUST FINE but that’s all it takes for that student to never ask something out loud ever again. that’s ALL IT TAKES. and then educators wonder why nobody wants to ask a question when they face a problem. BECAUSE YOU’RE NOT DOING YOUR FUCKING JOB RIGHT!! stop those students and please go to that student and ask them if they need help

it takes you invalidating one simple question asked by a student for them to lose their confidence. as an educator YOUR FUCKING JOB IS TO ANSWER THAT SAME QUESTION you consider stupid  20 FUCKING TIMES WITH THE UTMOST PATIENCE UNTIL THAT CHILD UNDERSTANDS IT. you are not the holder of all knowledge. YOU ARE A FACILITATOR TO THAT CHILD’S LEARNING and IF YOU AS AN EDUCATOR DECIDE TO CALL SIMPLE QUESTIONS STUPID how do you EXPECT students to then learn. you have no fucking idea where that child is mentally or even academically. BECAUSE YOU CAN’T EVEN BE FUCKING BOTHERED TO ASK. 

and then as they grow up you make it worse. because it’s less common to see teachers call a child aged abt 3-6 stupid for asking a question because ‘oh they don’t know’ but as soon as you’re older you start getting told ‘SHOULD I SEND YOU BACK TO KINDERGARTEN/PRIMARY/HIGH SCHOOL’ and then you wonder why students won’t come ask for help. and then you wonder why a student decides to cheat on a test or copies their homework. 

here’s another thing that’s so fucked up. when a teacher discovers a student cheating or copying homework. how many times is that student asked WHY. before being singled out in class and just told ‘i’m so disappointed in you’ or in other cases just gets screamed at. like that child doesn’t need to be told that they disappointed you. they are already going through a very wide range of emotions. and AS THE ADULT WHO IS ABLE TO REGULATE THEIR EMOTIONS AND THINK LOGICALLY why is your first fucking response TO PUNISH and why is not WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP YOU BETTER LEARN!! 

i’m gonna insert a tiny story here. bear with me.

so when i was about 11. we had a math’s test. and there was a bonus section (which was harder than expected for my tiny lil brain) in the back and me being my fidgety anxious self, starting looking around and glancing at other people’s answers. the teacher saw this. and she walked up to me TOOK AWAY MY PAPER AND SAID “SEE ME AFTER CLASS I SAW YOU CHEATING” which ok yes i was cheating. but she made such a big scene and got another head teacher involved and it was literally one of the worst weeks of my life. i got told that ‘this isn’t what we expected from you and we’re so disappointed in you’ and did that stop me from cheating in the future. HELL NO. i just got really fucking good at it. (got caught a couple of times in secondary but eh) 

but the moral of this isn’t that ananya is a badass bitch who still doesn’t respond well to authority lmfao. BUT is that. I WAS NEVER ASKED WHAT I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH IN CLASS. AND ON TOP OF THAT THE TEACHER BARELY INTERACTED WITH ME IN CLASS. ISOLATING ME EVEN MORE. they taught me cheating was wrong and would get you humiliated but that moral lesson taught me jackshit about math. tbh learnt jackshit abt morality also.  but the fact is that i hated the subject even more after that. 

the whole entire like reason and just takeaway from this is. please please please just as a human being never ever ever tell a student what they’re asking is stupid or dumb or useless. i’ve experienced and seen teachers do it and profs in uni aren’t any better. i know you think that kids won’t learn if you don’t show them the consequences or tell them that they disappointed you. but then what’s the use of us trying to be any different to the generation before us, if we can’t even come up with better ways to deal with bad academic decisions that students make.

i know i’m gonna work with kids and it may sound like i just wanna let students get away with shit but i’ve literally had a classmate who’s gonna work with teenagers tell me THAT TEENAGERS WON’T LEARN ANY OTHER WAY. YOU NEED TO PUNISH THEM AND REPRIMAND THEM. BECAUSE THEY NEED TO FEEL THE PAIN OF DISAPPOINTING SOMEONE IN ORDER TO SUCCEED. and it made me want to curl up into a ball and sob so hard. 

and i’m just like. but teenagers and young adults are deserving of so so so much more love and care than even children when being taught. because a kid in a kindergarten has no other responsibility and barely gets scolded. by the time you’re a teenager you deserve to be appreciated and understood and just supported by your educators even when you make bad decisions sometimes because they need to know they’re not bad people for failing on a test BECAUSE THEY COULDN’T GRASP THE MATERIAL. 

all of this is making me so so mad. because as someone being trained to educate little children. we’re taught to be soo calm and gentle and understanding. to never discourage them, to always help them develop their interests. all of that just seems to fade when u meet educators as you grow up. and it’s making me so mad. because even mean profs just make you hate the content of the class. 

educating at the end of the day is about facilitating the learning of someone else. we all help teach someone something at some point in our lives. and this just means so much more to me because as someone who is neurodivergent and  had to go through rote learning for years upon years until i had a honest to god BREAKDOWN. where i had to drop out of school.

i dropped out with the lowest grade in my class. and i finished my studies privately and i went from a 20/45 as my IB score to an ABB in my A levels (from a predicted BCD). it’s because for the first time in my life EVEN MY PARENTS figured out that the environment was horrible for me. because i know i’m somewhat smart (not a genius but still smart). and i LOVE learning. i just couldn’t learn in an environment where all my teachers had given up on me and just looked at me with a disappointed face when passing out grades. 

anyways i’m finally doing and pursuing something i’m passionate about. and i’m so so thankful and grateful for having the opportunity to be able to do it. and the only reason i wanna go into this profession is because the only good memories i have of teachers are from kindergarten. you would go to school and there were these pretty women who’d just be kind and nice to you and tell you your hair looks lovely and hand you candy on random days. you got to dress up for your birthday, for halloween, for christmas even for diwali. you got be a child and happy. you got to paint and colour in whatever colour you liked, be it pink or black or orange. be it in the lines or outside the lines. 

you could make an absolute mess and take it up to the teacher and she’d smile at you and tell you what a wonderful job you’d done and how she loved your concept. i want be that. i wanna be that person who children look up to like i looked up to my teachers. and be able to provide them with memories they can look back at fondly and think, this is how a teacher should be. loving, kind, encouraging, caring and not accept anything less from another educator ever again. (BIG DREAMS I HAVE ahahhahah)  

but yea. this was just stuff i’d been wanting to get off my chest. anyone who got to the end.

You said you were under 17, right? So I'm assuming you're still at school. How do you balance your blog with your schoolwork, if you have any? I also have an amrev blog and I've been struggling a lot with it. I get distracted by tumblr a lot and I have too much overdue work. I'm wondering how you get it done.

Yeah, I’m under the age of seventeen, and dragging myself through high school (ugh). I do have a lot of schoolwork! For the past few weeks, I’ve been on holiday, so I’ve been more active. When school restarts in the next few days I probably won’t be online as much.

Ahhh yes the ol’ I get distracted by tumblr. My tip for this is — make your friends your alarm. I’ll say on the server “yall if you see me online in the next one hour bonk me on the head i need to study.” This way, if they see me on tumblr or discord they’re like INK GO THE FUCK BACK TO YOUR TEXTBOOK.

Another tip is to take away your devices while studying. Take your ipad or phone or laptop and put it away in a corner of your room. What I do is I set a timer for one hour, and I keep that tab open, while I walk up and down in my room and study. The times reminds me “hey you go to another tab youre being unproductive” and the deadline pressures me into studying.

Another tip for not getting distracted is to not follow too many people! The less chaotic your dash is, the less you’ll want to check it. Try to limit your follows to people whose content you think is something you’ll want to see 99% of the time. My rule is, you look at someone’s blog, at least half of their listed fandoms you have to be in, and the 5 most recent posts on their blog have to be something you’d like to see. I often go through my followers and unfollow some people, and I’m also not joining any more discord servers—two is enough for me.

So yeah, set limits for yourself!

No actually it’s quarantine and it’s currently holidays, so I have the time to do all I want. Back in April when I was still in online school, I would generally do homework during class, so I would finish all my homework and classwork in the first part of the day when the teachers were rambling about nonsense (I multitask aight lmaoo) and by the second half of the day I could chat on discord and check tumblr, then after school I’d study for a few hours, then check social media, etc. Most of my fic writing is done on the weekends or a spare half an hour on weekdays. I’m churning out fics pretty fast now cuz holidays, but during school I’d write maybe 1-2k words every weekend.

Okay this was very long lmao, but I hope you find it helpful!

(And yes even though I don’t listen in class I still pass, the teachers are shit and they can’t teach, I’ve learned more from the textbook than their incoherent rambling. My teacher once taught us an entire concept, then told us “lol i was wrong” and didn’t reteach it, so i just don’t listen to them any more and learn from the textbooks, khan academy and crash course)

Since there’s essays involved I’m assuming she teaches either history or literature? Kinda on the fence because I feel like she’d be good at giving a no-nonsense version of history filled with interesting details and prompts that make you think (and also hosts monthly debates on controversial issues), but I also want Yao to be as un-confident as possible in his abilities in her class, and I feel like he would be less comfortable/sure of his answers and thoughts in a lit class than a history one. I’m not sure though

honestly i would really want her to teach lit so bad but history would be so cool too.. as someone who suffered through lit for the first month of school (though i think i'm getting the hang of it now :D) i also want yao to suffer through the feelings of inadequacy when the teacher gives an evaluation that is COMPLETELY different from yours while also awkwardly trying to tell you your evaluation is wrong without crushing your ~passion for learning~ or something... but at the same time vietnam has such strong history vibes??? and they would probably clash over like different methods of historiography and methods for interpreting sources BUT historiography isn't really taught in-depth here at high scholl level ... And at the same time lit is the best place for one to feel Insecure so i really don't know because vietnam has such History/art vibes.. i think you should decide this i have no idea 😔

ooh yeah I think they’d be interesting; definitely agree with what you said about India being really flamboyant and Vietnam being more honest/down to earth and definitely someone who hates when people put on airs (which Aditya does to a fairly large extent...). I think she’d like him just a tad more because he isn’t super condescending and gets along with his classmates pretty well; she knows he’s trying to impress her (lollolll they’re all trying to get teacher points for recommendations) but at least he’s friendly and participates in class and stuff. Also I think India’s good at small talk, makes an effort in getting to know people, and is very emotionally in tune with other’s feelings (even if he’s a bit stupid/oblivious sometimes) so even if Vietnam is kinda closed off to him at first (she’s nicer to him than Yao though, that’s for sure) he can get along with her quickly by picking up on what she likes talking about and accommodating her interests. SAME literature is the one class that makes you thoroughly question your comprehension and understanding of everything in life everything ever written, but HISTORY. she would be such a fun history teacher and I can see her having her students really dig into events for themselves and make their own evaluations of why things happened and who’s “right”. YES THEM CLASHING OVER HISTORIOGRAPHY hmm... maybe we could get around historiography not being covered much by having Yao be Extra™? For example, maybe one day Vietnam offhandedly mentions there’s a lot of interpretations around x period (and whether it was a success or failure) depending on which type of historiography you subscribe to; Yao, who was already feeling strongly on the subject, does some research (“what is historiography” “interpretations of x” *rabbit hole of articles ensues*) and then goes to class the next day armed with 10 sources and a full on debate about the subject ensues, resulting in him being late to lunch by half an hour. 

What about a compromise, where Yao has a ferocious literature teacher (who??? idk) but Vietnam is teaching history, and when he gets comfortable in her class he starts complaining about the lit teacher and she thinks oh finally, a teacher that he’s intimidated by. I am at peace now. 😌.

OSAMU- my theater teachers son

You can’t quite bring yourself to face him as, despite his arguments against the fact, Victor has a very distracting face. Not to mention the fact that he’s been oddly focused on you since you stepped into his house. Even now, he looks at you as if he wants something but doesn't quite know how to say it, or doesn’t want to. You understand, but his reluctance to express himself does frustrate you at times.

With his sleeves rolled up to his forearms, a missing tie and the top two buttons of his shirt undone, you also have to make a valiant effort to keep your drool in check. 

“Merci beaucoup,” you say cheerfully, taking the twitch of his mouth for what it is–his attempt at suppressing a smile. “Let’s see...oh! L’addition, s’il vous plaît.” 

“Beau travail." You think it’s unfair that he makes it sound like that, like art that hides away on his tongue and allows you small glimpses to torment you, derailing your entire thought process with sickening ease. 

'I mean...I am allowed to thirst after my own boyfriend...'

“I wish I could go with you,” you grumble, trying to imagine whole days spent listening to Victor speaking French as he feeds you little bites of cake. It would be lethal. 

A good way to go, you think. 

“We can.” He leans until his lips brush over the shell of your ear. “I want to go with you.” 

‘But this is a work-related trip,’ you protest in your head because your lips won’t move to say them. You’re travelling to France for a show, and he’s been a little off since you told him about it. He did agree to teach you a few basic phrases, and you have to admit that he’s a great teacher even when he’s sulking. Your relationship is still new, but you know him well enough to know it’s because of one of the cast members of the show. Kim, one of the singers, hasn’t exactly been shy about his interest in you. He’s backed off since you told him you’re not available, but it seems Victor’s still on edge about it. 

It must still be on his mind because he sighs and rests his forehead on your shoulder. You can’t help but run your hand through his silken strands, the urge to soothe his irrational worries away driving you to act, even if you think he's being a touch melodramatic.

Not that you’ll ever say that out loud. Victor probably knows he’s being irrational, he doesn’t need you to tell him that. You hope.

You also hope he doesn’t feel the kiss you press into his hair, light and sneaky as it is. His hair smells sharp and fresh, and you barely restrain the urge to get another sniff in.

“There are so many places I want to take you,” he mumbles, shifting until his lips settle on the side of your neck. Heat spreads through your body as he leans over you, a hand coming to rest on your other side, half-caging you between his body and the sofa. You hadn't expected him to shift gears this quickly, and the way his lips brush against the spot where your pulse feels stronger doesn't quite match up with all the pouting he's been doing. It does, however, open a door you've been hovering outside of all day.

This is your chance. 

“Victor?” You heart races as you try to remember the right words. This is, as they say, not in the syllabus and you’re not even sure if it’s correct, but you want to try it anyway. 

“Yes?” You feel your breath catch in your throat as he inhales deeply, and his tongue flicks against your warm skin. You’re wearing a scent he’s expressed partiality to in the past, and if the way he hums with contentment is any indication, he still quite likes it. 

“Victor, je peux t’embrasser?” you ask, your cheeks flushing and breath quickening when he pauses. You fight down the embarrassment and focus on his reaction.

Can I kiss you? 

The curl of his lips is obvious as he meets your eyes, and even as he kisses you, you can feel it on your lips. The butterflies in your stomach explode into a tizzy It’s too warm all of a sudden, and your lungs work extra hard as the space between you both lessens. Victor is nearly on top of you as you both sink into each other, deepening the meeting of your mouths as his hands begin to wander along your sides, firm in the way they glide along your clothed skin.

It's not the first time you've kissed, but it feels different. The sweetness of it has solidified into a foundation for the hot desire that slowly spills out of you. There is something needy in the way he clings to you and then pulls away, as if he's unsure of how you'll take it. You pull him closer in response, overwhelmed by your own sudden yearning. 

His thumb rubs slow circles over your knee as his lips glide across your jaw, down the slender slope of your neck. He grows more fervent with each breathless sound that leaves your mouth, and you want to lose yourself in his arms. It is the one place you wouldn’t mind being lost in for the rest of your days, and the thought should terrify you more than it does.

And as his lips slide over to press sweet kisses under your ear, he begins to speak words that seem to have been crafted with the sole purpose of stealing your breath away. “Je sais que je ne trouve pas toujours les mots, et je ne ressens pas toujours les bons sentiments...” His voice is pitched low yet so roughened with emotions you can’t even begin to pick them out; you’re torn between hissing with outrage and moaning with pleasure. “...mais je t’aime fort, et il faut que tu le saches.”

As he teeth scrape against tender skin, as you moan softly, your mind struggles to work through what little you caught of his words. 

‘Je t’aime.’ Your heart pounds as he pushes you down onto your back, and you get a glimpse of the liquid want swimming in his eyes. Your legs part so he can rest between them, and your mind nearly collapses when your shirt is pushed up and his lips travel south through the valley of your breasts, roaming over the soft planes of your stomach. 

“Victor,” you breathe, twisting under the maddening explorations of his mouth. 

“Tu es si belle,” he groans into your waist, as he if can't help it. His hand plays with the hem of your skirt, and you think you might lose your mind if it stays there. A part of you hopes dearly that you can at least retain some of what he’s saying; Victor has a terrible habit of whispering soft things in your ear, and you would appreciate it a lot more if you could actually understand what he says. The way he says them hints at sweet romance, and you can’t help but melt at the dulcet tones of his voice every single time–but you had initially thought he could be making fun of you.

You don’t think he’s making fun of you right now. 

“Victor, please,” you whimper. You cycle between cursing and pleading at the unfairness of this man, at the way his hand dips beneath your skirt but doesn’t go too far, his curious fingers stroking your tender skin gently.

“Mon cœur bat pour toi seul."  With a pounding heart, you watch as he tilts his head up to study you, his eyes ablaze with a hunger that threatens to burn if you stare too long. The slight smirk that twists along his lips can only be called sinful, giving away his intentions before he even ducks under your skirt. 

As his mouth latches on to you through damp cotton, you can’t help the squeak that escapes you when you hear him inhale, a low groan at its heels that borders on obscene. You strain your ears when you realise he’s saying something, but you’re not sure what it is, and he doesn't give you a chance to find out. He wields his tongue like an unholy weapon and slowly works you through a slow descent into madness. What’s left of your sanity decides it–you must devote yourself to learning this language. 

“Je suis...fou amoureux de toi,” he whispers into your skin, so softly you think you might have imagined it. He climbs back up your body, and an eager kiss awaits him at the top.

“I’m not going to give up until I know what every single word means,” you mumble, the dazed vow amusing your boyfriend immensely as he curls around you. The quiet breath of laughter sounds faint but you feel it against your skin.

“You’ll have to be a good student and attend every lesson.” 

“With a professor so handsome? I couldn’t miss a single one.” You turn to press your mouth to the skin above his heart, smiling when he squeezes you tighter.

“Oh, handsome?” He clearly tries to aim for cockiness, but sounds a little too pleased to be convincing in any way. His heart throbs powerfully under your lips, and you slide them over to his clavicle, deeming it your turn to do the tasting. But before you start, you have one final card to play.

“Mhm. Je te trouve très beau,” you say teasingly, with the most charming smile in your arsenal and a saucy wink–before being driven to helpless giggles as he pounces yet again.

1. describe your tc’s physical appearance.

I always have trouble describing people but basically: average height, pretty slim but still has kinda broad shoulders, blond hair and blue eyes.

2. what was the first thing you’ve ever said to your tc?

I think it was an introduction? Just the standard ‘say your name, your hobbies and an interesting fact’ or something.

3. is your tc single or taken? or are you unsure? and are you single or taken?

He is a married man, my situation is a bit complicated at the moment though :| 

4. is your tc more of the athletic type, the nerdy type or the artsy type?

I wouldn’t call him an athlete but I guess he’s pretty into football (or soccer for all you Americans out there). He seems like a huge nerd as well though lmaoo

5. if you and your tc were in high school together, do you think you’d be friends?

I definitely think so. Of course I only know him on a surface level but we share the exact same humor and our taste in music is pretty similar as well. I also feel like we can kinda trust eachother which is an important factor in friendship in my opinion.

Oof he’s definitely the more simple type. I love him to death but this man has no sense of style at all. He does wear nice shirts so that’s atleast good.

I’m actually about to study to become a teacher! Not for that reason though, I’ve wanted this for some time and his subject is just coincidentally (no, that’s not sarcasm) the one that I love the most.

Both, but I don’t mind at all though.
