ADHD Tip: Rabbit Thoughts
This is a term I coined myself back when I was tutoring this little kid. He seemed to have the same problem I had in regards to not being able to focus. We both had random thoughts "jump around" when working, so I tried to devise a way to help with this.
I read somewhere that writing things down helps you to get them out of your head. There is also a phrase that my family and I tend to use dealing with rogue thoughts: "Take every thought captive", meaning to take it and reason with it, not let it get the better of you (also helpful for intrusive thoughts). But this made me think of the concept of catching rabbits and putting them in a pen. It's a kid-friendly explanation and just a fun one too!
TL;DR: write down rogue thoughts as they come. Can categorize for later: random things, to-do tasks, urgent must-do right now
Let's say you're in an intensive work session, either studying, writing, working on a project, etc. You want to grind without losing that motivation or hyperfixation energy.
Quick and easy solution: Thought Dump. Just dump everything onto one sheet of paper. This is typically what I will do. It makes things a bit harder to look back through, in case you wrote down things you need to do later. But this is just meant to be a solution to get everything out of your head so you can focus on the task at hand. (This is also good for emptying your head before bed)
Categories:
Rabbits - A really quick to-do list. These can be things you can do during breaks or things you need to do in general that day or week. It may help to add a check box next to these so you remember to actually do these things.
Bunnies - Your average random thought. They can be anything from ideas to save for later, things you want to look up, or random repeating phrases or words. Anything that doesn't have to be dealt with right away or even later that day.
Hares - Things that must be dealt with right away or else you can't focus. These don't necessarily have to be written down at all. These can be things like getting food or water, going to the bathroom, or something urgent you forgot about that needs to be taken care of.
Now go forth and get some work done!
Note: some things may not be as urgent as you think. Your anxiety may make it seem super important when it can wait even a minute more, like calling someone back, starting to make food for dinner, etc. Remember, don't panic. Again, take every thought captive. Sit with it for a minute, breathe, and try to process it with logic and a level head. You got this!

this isn't the typical shitposting i do on here, but now that my summer semester has started i wanted to share a little thing i do to keep myself focused while doing schoolwork at home :)
if you have a record player and some good albums on vinyl, i've found that listening to music that way helps me focus. whenever one side of the record ends, i take a little break to get up and fix it and then go back to work. idk but the few seconds it takes for me to flip the record is just enough for me to get a little break from doing work without losing focus! i just thought i'd share while i procrastinate watching my lecture :P

Focus
This one is called ‘Inertia’.
If you haven’t heard about the word at all- it means the tendency of a body or particle to continue what its already doing. As in, if a body is at rest, it continues to be at rest. And if it is in motion, it continues to be in motion.
So how is it that this can help us in focusing? You see just like all thoses bodies, we to tend to continue what we’re doing currently too. If we’re scrolling through tik tok or insta, we’ll continue to do that. because our brains have somewhat adjusted to that and found comfort in it.
The good thing about this is, it can be applied to studying and working too.
All you have to do is just get off you’re phone and sit down to study or just go to the gym. Just sit down and start studying or working out or anything else. And things will continue to flow easily. This works for a lot of people. And doesn’t for a lot of people too.
If it works for you, consider yourself lucky and just go with it.
If not, it doesn’t mean the end of the world. There are so many for tips for you. And I’ll try my best to post it as soon as I can.
Let me know if it help and if I should post more! <3

I wish I could stay more focused on my tasks. I get distracted very easily, and I am unsure as to why that is. However, I do realize one aspect of it. I just want to be done with the assignment, but when I lose track or become bored, it just delays the completion process. On the other hand, I distract myself because I am just constantly thinking all the time and don’t know how to focus on one task. If anyone has any tips, let me know.

for more info, atla had 61 episodes. s2 of SU (which contained the entirety of peridot's redemption arc) had 26 episodes. s3 of infinity train, like i mentioned above, only had 10 episodes.
spop had 52 episodes in total, which is only around 10 episodes less than atla. you're telling me that wasn't enough time to redeem catra?

Hopefully this isn't too weird but I love the way you draw hands, it's like the way you draw them seem just as expressive as the faces on the characters, I just love how they look and I hope I get there someday (if you have any tips please share but if not that's okay!)
I love your art and characters and how you draw their expressions/poses, it's all so nice!
Not weird at all, I'm very flattered! Hands have become extremely important to me, I tend to put a lot of effort in trying to get them look just right. I'm still not where I want to be with them but improving nonetheless. If you ask me, a thoughtfully and intently drawn hand can be almost as expressive as a character's face, just like you said. They're such complex and intricate structures with massive emotive and aesthetic potential, it'd be waste to not make use of them in art.

Oh Here We Fucking Go....
Me: Okay, so I need one referral for a derm and one for ADHD meds.
Doc: Okay. In the meantime, your blood pressure's a little high and let's talk about your weight.
Me: .....I'm currently smack-dab in the middle of a move, a bereavement, a sick pet, and a mental health crisis. If my bp is high, it is likely because I am STRESSED lol.
Doctor: Yeah but still let's get you back in in a month for a bp check and talk about some weight loss goals. You need lower bp for the meds anyway.
Me: ....Fine.
One Month Later....
Me: -aces the bp check- I've been feeling better and things are calming down, so I'm way less stressed now. I cut my salt intake and added some daily fitness goals just in case.
Doctor: So let's talk about setting some weight loss numbers-....
Me: Wait, why are we talking about my weight? That's not what I came in for.
Doctor: Well you're forty now and your bp was high and you're over 225lbs, so you should really look into losing-....
Me: -not loudly, but firmly- I CAME HERE TO GET A MOLE REMOVED AND GET ON ADHD MEDS. NEITHER OF THESE HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH MY WEIGHT. CAN WE PLEASE FOCUS ON MY INITIAL CONCERNS. THANK YOU.
Doctor: Well geez, okay, no need to get upset....
Me: It is 930 in the morning and I'm missing work to be here, just to have you completely ignore my concerns about skin cancer and mental health in favor of focusing on the size of my ass. I will handle my weight on my own time and if I have further concerns that are directly related to a number on a scale, we can discuss them. In the meantime, can I PLEASE have the referrals I asked for LAST MONTH.
Doctor: ....I'll need to get you in next week, I honestly thought we were here to talk about your weight and your blood pressure.
Me: -Four Second Death Stare- I'd also like to be assigned to a different doctor for my next appointment.

Magical Concepts
There is something that has always proven to be a mistake when first learning energy concepts and magickal workings. This is that people tend to shift to only one paradigm, and they limit themselves from other opportunities.
I will talk about general concepts within this article, and the consciousness. Hopefully, this will help people understand a little more, and become more aware freeing up some peoples' mental road blocks.
(Subconscious) Emotions: Your personal, raw energies. The subconscious is untamed, and has many uses within energy workings, and the mind itself. But, as we progress you will see that all of these concepts need to be used in order to acheive your goals. Using all three will be beneficial.
(Conscious) Ideas and Concepts: This is focused energies, and the direction you wish for workings to be acheived. It is intent.
Example: You call the quarters, cast circles, invoke spirits. All steps in rituals and spells are focus tools for the intentions you have set out. Relying too heavily on tools every time you do something considered simple will turn in to a crutch over time exhausting more energy than needed in order to complete a working.
Ritual magic does have its' place, but should not be relied on or treated as the only way to do some workings. It serves as more of a guide in the long run.
(Super Conscious) Intuition:
Ever been caught in the middle of a energy working, and knew something else might have to be done in order for things to succeed? Just do it. Trust your own inner intuiton regarding magickal workings especially during divination sequences.
Example: When you do divination and know something will come to pass, and it does.
The Subconscious, Conscious, and Super-Conscious can be used for Emotions, Concepts, and/or Intuition. They all work together as one because it overall is your consciousness. It is you as an individual. It is your energies.
Personalization will help you the most because you are doing this for you and your needs as an individual. The more you personalize things that work best for you the more it will be attuned to you and your needs. Alternatively, you can use existing symbols and practices as guides to help you along your spiritual journey.
Never underestimate yourself during magickal workings if you know the concepts and understand the intentions. If you follow through a spell with any doubts in mind it most likely will not work. If you have no doubts in your mind, it should work provided it has a means to manifest.
Don't over complicate magickal or energy workings if you already understand the concepts. Don't waste time and energy by making things more complicated than they actually are. Do not get caught up in a ritual you feel is the only way to get what you need. It isn't. You are simply putting limitations on yourself. Understand the concepts, intentions, and drive that focus on your end goal.

hi this may sound silly but re: your post about loving to study, and mentioning someone treating it like a game, how do you get into that mindset? like as in how do you start to really enjoy it? don't get me wrong i love learning, but the more monotonous parts of studying specifically make it harder to do. any tips?
not silly at all! to me studying is literally a sport just like any other. it takes time and patience and practice to build stamina for it. i set timers and try to cram as much as i possibly can (one of my favorite apps for this is forest), literally all my bedroom walls are tacked top to bottom with sticky notes pertaining to study concepts and questions and reminders, i make myself quizzes, i reward myself w things based on how much i study (if i get x amount done, i will allow myself to do y), i crunch flash cards on the treadmill, i play jazz instrumentals on sunny winter mornings while i study, i dress up and put on my favorite perfume and lip gloss and pretend i'm one of my favorite studious characters going through my notes, sometimes i will pace around w my textbook in hand if i get restless, i switch my environments a lot (you will literally catch me studying at a beach if it means i'm focused there and getting things done), i make sure my workspace is pretty and organized and inviting, i make cute study moodboards and have a lot of motivational quotes on hand, i interleave subjects so that i don't get bored studying something for long blocks of time, i have a list of what my goals are and will sometimes have them on my desk so that whenever i'm demotivated i remind myself why this matters to me to begin w, i follow discipline over motivation (having a study routine is so vital!!!! i live by my calendar), and last but not least i have a huge appreciation for what i'm studying and try not to fall into the trap of "this is boring." instead i actually try to engage critically w the material and give it the love it deserves.
also!!! challenge has always attracted me--if i don't understand a topic well i gravitate towards it more, bc it genuinely bothers me not to be able to do something proficiently (very likely my mom's neurotic influence). that disposition goes hand in hand w the skill set needed for effective studying.
