Chapter 1
Carol was not happy. Though perhaps that was an understatement. As Carol stomped down the front steps of Mel’s Tavern and shoves open the door, she was honest enough to admit she was pissed. After a long week, an absolute shit week, all Carol wants to do on her Friday night is go to Thor’s brothel, have too much Asgardian liquor, and take out her frustrations on one of the pretty little whores in his employ. Instead, she’s in Mel’s trying to figure out why he hadn’t made his monthly payment for the 2nd month in a row. Though to be fair, this visit was less about finding out why he’d not made his payment and more about reminding him why he needed to make his payment. Carol wasn’t a therapist or a social worker, so she didn’t really give a shit about the why.
Striding into the poorly lit, smoky bar, filled with gaudy tchotchkes and an unfortunate looking crowd, Carol quickly glances around the room looking for Mel. She wants to get in and out of this dive as soon as possible. However, Mel was nowhere to be found; he was smart to make himself scarce knowing that he’d missed payday, but dumb as fuck to make Carol wait. To be fair, he probably didn’t know he was making Carol wait. He most likely thought he was simply avoiding one of the lesser Avenger goons. Unfortunately for Mel, he wasn’t the only “security client” who’d neglected to pay his dues in the Avengers’ territory recently. That, plus Steve’s suspicion that there was a mole in the family meant that Carol had been drafted to figure out what was going on and to fix the problem.
Carol strides to the doorman, black low-heeled boots clicking on the grungy and slightly sticky tile floor. In her bespoke all black pantsuit, she cut a striking figure. Short dark blonde hair curled around a strong jaw on one side; the other side razed into a short undercut. The doorman stands up quickly when he sees her.
“Ma’am,” he starts, before Carol puts up her hand.
“Where’s Mel?,” Carol interrupts. “If he’s in the back, go get him. If he’s not, tell him I’m here and that the longer I wait, the more pissed off I’ll become. Got it?”
The doorman nods sharply before turning on his heel and heading toward the closed off offices in the back of the bar.
Carol rolls her shoulders once to relieve some tension before walking over to the bar; she finds the least sticky chair and takes a seat before tapping her index finger on the bar top two times to get the bartender’s attention. That was when she saw you.
You hadn’t noticed her until she’d sat at the bar, but you recognize the confident way she situated herself in the room as someone used to wielding authority. Seated so she had a clear view of most of the room and all of the exits, the woman leaned back into her chair, eyes flickering around the room until they stopped on you. You meet her gaze. As her intense honey brown orbs pin you in place, you begin to feel a bit shy; your heart pounds loudly in your chest and you lower your eyes. You curse yourself silently and tell yourself that she was just like any other customer. A hot customer. A really fucking hot customer. You would just do your job. Deep breaths.
The woman seems to notice your discomfort and her eyes glitter as they flicker up and down your body, pausing at your hips, waist, and the slight swell of your breasts visible over your black tank top.
You shift uncomfortably and tug at the hem of your tank, desperately wishing that you’d thought to put on your jacket before your shift. Your outfit was by no means revealing, but the way she was looking at you made you feel like she could see right through your clothes. Her eyes meet yours once more and she gives you a gentle smirk that makes your breath catch. Your hands immediately come together in front of you, fingers twisting around each other as you meet her steely gaze.
You stand up straight, lift your chin and walk over to the bar, fiercely hoping your demeanor doesn’t betray your nervousness.
“Hi, welcome to Mel’s. Can I get you something?,” you ask the woman, voice squeaking just a bit.
“Well hello there, baby,” she drawls in a sing-song voice, head tilting slightly as she gives you another long onceover; she doesn’t try to hide it, her eyes dragging the last few inches from your mouth to your eyes slowly. “Give me a shot of Crown, neat. Ok?”
“Yes, ma’am!” you quickly puff out, already retreating to fetch her drink.
Carol’s smile widens at the address and she thinks that maybe, just maybe, her night is turning around. As you turn around to grab a whiskey glass and pour her shot, Carol’s eyes crawl over the curve of your waist and delicious looking ass. Yes, indeed. Her night was looking up.
As you pour the drink you think about how...excellent the customer’s voice is. Husky and soft, it slithered into your ears and made you briefly wonder what that voice would sound like in bed.
You pour a healthy shot of the whiskey in the glass and set it in front of the blonde woman, before quickly stepping back. She raises the glass slightly in your direction before slowly sipping her drink, her throat bobbing as she swallows while staring directly into your eyes. Her wet, pink tongue slips out to lick a drop of whiskey lingering on her plump bottom lip. Your eyes are glued to the motion and your face gets hot when you realize she’d watched you watching her.
In all honesty, that was probably a bad thought. You didn’t know who she was, but all the other employees, and the few customers, seemed a bit on edge ever since she walked in. You weren’t quite sure why, but it almost seemed like Tony, the doorman, was scared of her. Which was outrageous. Tony was 6’5 and built like a Mack truck. But still, you knew that whoever she was, you should be cautious.
“Come here, baby,” she mutters, resting her elbows on the bar and leaning forward.
Your heart pounds in your chest, and your eyes wildly look around the room seeking anywhere else to direct your attention.
Your eyes settle back on the blonde woman when nobody else will meet your gaze. Not even Fred, the local drunk who spent most evenings begging for “just one more drink, love.” Traitors.
You shuffle toward the woman and start to reach for her now empty glass. “Do you want an open or closed tab?,” you ask.
She smiles up at you, revealing even, white teeth before winking and saying, “It’s on the house.”
Your brow furrows, confused before you peeked at Tony, who nods at you grimly.
“Oook,” you say, still slightly confused as you reach for the empty glass to place aside for the bar back.
In the three months you’d been working here, you’d never given anyone or seen anyone given a drink “on the house.” Mel wasn’t necessarily stingy, but you didn’t want to press your luck and drinks were priced so reasonably that nobody ever complained. But, if Tony was saying it was on the house, you had to take him at his word.
Her hand snakes out and catches yours before you can remove the glass.
“What’s your name?,” the blonde woman asks softly, thumb gently stroking the web of skin between your thumb and index finger. You start to jerk your hand away, but her grip tightens around yours, holding you in place. You freeze, eyes and mouth parting as your breath comes faster and you nervously wait for something, anything, to give you a clue to what she wants you to do. She looks at you curiously before releasing your hand and sliding back in her seat, back resting against the high-backed chair.
“I’m Y/N,” you say, breathing a bit more evenly now that she’s no longer touching you.
“Y/N” she repeats, the name rolling off her tongue melodically. “That's pretty. I’m Carol. How long have you worked here, Y/N? I’ve never seen you before.”
“Three months, but I’m not from here,” you blather nervously.
“Oh yeah?,” she smiles coyly, “where are you from, baby?”
You feel heat rising in your cheeks at the endearment, and you softly tell her where you're from.
“That’s fun. How do you like our little city?” she says, extending her arms wide open. “Have you seen all the sights?”
“No,” you reluctantly admit. “I came out here in a rush so I’ve mainly been focused on finding work and a place to live. Haven’t had time to do the tourist thing yet.”
“Hmmm,” she ponders, smiling gently while drumming her short red nails on the bar, “I’d love to be your tour guide, baby, if you’d like that. Take you to see the sights, take you to dinner. Do you work tomorrow?”
“O-oh,” you stutter, surprised that she’d managed to direct the conversation into an invitation for a date so quickly and smoothly. “Umm.”
“Do you work tomorrow, baby?,” she presses again.
“No, I uh, don’t. But I’m not--” you start.
“Great,” Carol interrupts. “That’s just what I was hoping to hear. Give me your phone number and I’ll call you tomorrow with something planned for us.”
You were taken aback. Yes, she was gorgeous and made you feel flushed and nervous (you supposed those were butterflies?), and would probably-- no, definitely-- show you a good time, but you weren’t sure you wanted to get wrapped up in whatever was going on here. But she’d already slid her phone across the bar and was beaming up at you expectantly. You figured that one little outing probably wouldn’t hurt. It’d been a while since you’d been out and Lord knew you hadn’t had time for anything fun and relaxing since moving to the city. You’d been far too busy scrambling to survive. Your hometown was expensive, but nothing like this.
As you reach for her phone you send a silent prayer that wherever you go with her wouldn’t be too expensive so you could insist on paying for yourself without cannibalizing your weekly food budget.
As you input your phone number, the woman, Carol, leans back in her chair and glances around the bar again before once more leaning towards you. Your eyes fall to her cleavage and your thoughts take a turn before you snap your eyes back up to her to find her laughing gently.
“Such a good girl,” Carol husks as she retrieves her phone from you and slips it into her trouser pocket as she stands.
She didn't touch you this time; you were already overwhelmed and semi-regretful and she looked like she didn’t want to give you any reason to try to run away from her. “Now, go get me another drink while I talk to Mel,” Carol instructs before and turning around sharply.
You’re thrilled to have something else to do, to focus on, so you didn’t notice the fearful look on Mel’s face as Carol strides up to him.
Carol didn’t exactly work for Steve and the Avengers, but she did operate out of their territory when she was stateside, and lately her business dealings found her on the East Coast. Staying with the family was just easier, and that sometimes meant getting caught up in their issues. She normally didn’t mind doing Steve a favor...but it’d been a hell of a week, and up until she’d seen the little cutie at the bar squirm so prettily under her scrutinizing gaze, she had not been happy to be doing this particular favor.
Well, Carol thinks, whores aren’t the only way to work out aggression. Looks like this God forsaken place would provide her two types of entertainment tonight.
Carol’s exchange with Mel is brief. She bulldozes over his stammered greetings and demands to know why he hadn’t been paying his security fee. Mel insists that he had been paying, he definitely wasn’t avoiding the family, and that someone new had come around and told him 3 months ago that there was a new payment method. He’d been leaving his payments in an unmarked envelope taped under a nearby bench. Someone had been picking them up, since Mel had made two payments this way and the first was gone when he went to make the second.
Hmmm, Steve will definitely be interested to learn that. Carol muses to herself.
“Ok, Mel,” Carol says to the stammering man.
“Ok?,” Mel repeats, hope creeping into his eyes as he looks timidly at her.
“Ok,” Carol reiterated, “I believe you. Which is the good news. The bad news is I don’t give a fuck who you say you paid, because bottom line is we don’t have our money. The money you owe us. So you have until next week to get it to us.”
Anger flares in Mel’s eyes before Carol puts a hand on his shoulder “Ah ah ah, Mel. I can just tell that I am zero percent interested in hearing whatever you're about to say. You pay by next week or I can break your other leg, too.”
Mel blanches and whimpers out, “too?,” just in time for Carol to slip her hand from his shoulder to the back of his head before slamming him nose-first into a nearby table. The crack is audible above the shitty music playing in the background. As Mel reaches to try to push himself up from the table, Carol brings her fist down on the fingers clinging to the edge of the table, breaking three on impact and then turns to forcefully kick one leg out toward Mel’s knee, forcing it backward with an audible CRACK! Mel’s scream cuts through all the chatter and music, a macabre soundtrack in the dingy bar.
Once that was done, Carol slides Mel into the booth she’d just brutalized him at and turns back to the bar.
You were cowering in a corner, back pressed as far up against the bar as you could, eyes frantically searching for an exit, body shaking, and breath huffing quickly. You’d finished prepping Carol’s drink just in time to see the breathtaking display of violence. You feel nauseated and scared and hot and dizzy, your stomach heaving at the bloodshed. You can hear your heart beating in your head as you watch Carol stride over to you, her eyes glittering in excitement and something that looked suspiciously like arousal.
She knocks back the drink you have waiting for her, before looking directly at you. You try to look anywhere but at her, but she was still all you noticed.
“Look at me,” she says firmly. Your eyes flicker up towards her at the command. “You answer when I call you tomorrow, ok baby?”
She waits for your weak nod, before smiling brightly at you and walking out the door.

Alrighty then….
This is one of the cornucopia of wacky-ass ads that crawl across my FB universe every day.
I am a woman from New York, I’m closer to 70 than I am to 60. I’m an artist who spent many years illustrating children’s books, and who moved into the picture frame industry in the late ‘90’s. I handled masterpieces, managed a couple of factories of marvelous craftspeople, and was the person who arrived at the clients penthouse with my tools and white gloves. Bill and Hillary Clinton were clients of mine. (Bill can tell a great story, but don’t let him back you into a corner….LONG story)
The Koch Brothers were clients.
I spent a year and a half in the Fifth Ave home of Baron and Baroness deRothschild - conserving their collection of priceless artwork.
Maryanne Trump was one of my favorite clients - a hilarious, smart, tough old gal with big hair - who can tell a dirty joke with a poke in the ribs a big laugh. (She hates her brother, and it took two years before she would admit what her last name actually is.)
My husband and I sold everything we owned and moved to northwestern ireland eight years ago.
And so - this is an advertisement which is served to me based upon all of my digital information as culled from the Zuckerberg algorithm
Anything from selling me plastic surgery in Turkey, to a shed made from an old shipping container - this is part of the Zuckerberg landscape. Computer algorithms which are targeted at unsuspecting persons who are just trying to get through their day with some shreds of their sanity intact.
I’m supposed to be beguiled into throwing down £34.97 for the chance to win a digger. I’m not sure that the algorithm fully appreciates the absurdity.
But I do.
Something the algorithm does not know - is that I have a bit of ugly history with Zuckerberg’s mom and dad. His Papa is/was a dentist in Dobbs Ferry NY, and his horror-bitch of a mom ran the front desk.
We used to have him as the family dentist - 3 little kids and myself. There was some sort of dental emergency with my son, and I got him into the chair to have it dealt with. (We always lived in the limnal space between a rock and a hard place. Illustration was in its death-throes, my job in picture framing had just gotten started - and Brian had been pushed into freelance work as an advertising copywriter. We were scrambling to cling on to the floating wreckage…)
Daddy Zuckerberg the dentist repaired the issue, my son was fixed, and he bounced back into the waiting room. The chairs were filled with patients waiting to be seen - and it’s safe to say that they were all neighbors from Dobbs Ferry.
I walked to the front desk to discuss payment with Mama Zuckerberg. “I will need to back-date this check to next Friday when I get paid. There’s not enough in the account to cover this now, but it will be fine in three days.” - I was speaking softly, in an attempt to not alert the entire room of my precarious financial condition.
She went NUTTS. “WHAT DO YOU MEAN?! NO! We don’t work this way! How can you think this would be acceptable?!” and she banged on the sign that declared “Work to be paid for at time of appointment”
Everyone in the waiting room was now riveted. I tried to claw back some of my dignity, and continued to explain my predicament. “The emergency had happened that afternoon, we have been your patients for years now, it’s only three days from now….”
“Then give me a credit card.” Says she.
“I cant. I don’t have one right now”
And she actually came out from behind the desk - hollering and waving her arms around. I was shouted at in front of my kids (my youngest started to cry) everyone in town got to see just how shabby my wallet was, and in the end - I left the check on the edge of the counter, gathered up the kids - and left.
The check cleared on payday. We never went back.
And if you wonder why Mark Zuckerberg is so damn weird? This may go some way toward explaining it.
His parents are hideous people.
And so….
I spend my remaining years being served up ridiculous advertising based upon what the weird kid from Dobbs Ferry stole from his clever college roommates.
AI is the product of a batshit kid whose parents were awful.
We’re all in trouble.

Say you earn $1,000 every two weeks, and Friday is payday. You learn on the Monday before payday that you have to make an unexpected car repair, but you don't have enough savings to cover it. If you’ve earned enough of your paycheck, you can request some of it on Monday to get the car fixed before Friday.
If the app charges an expedited funding fee, it may be taken out of the amount you request, so be sure the advance covers your expense.

When Does Cash App Direct Deposit Hit?
One of the most common questions Cash App users have is, "When does Cash App direct deposit hit?" Your direct deposit timing can be affected by several factors, including your employer's payroll process and the type of payment being deposited. Remember that this is only a guideline and may differ for different users or circumstances.

Cash App direct deposit hit timing depends on several factors, including your employer's payroll schedule, government benefits disbursed dates, and tax refund processing times. Analysis: British banks' mortgage payday comes with sting in the tail

Analysis: British banks' mortgage payday comes with sting in the tail
Tumblr media
LONDON, Oct 10 (Reuters) – While British households head into a winter of soaring energy costs, a tumbling currency and nearly double-digit inflation, the country’s banks are in line for a handsome payday as mortgage prices spike after a decade of stagnation.
Banks are finding the home loan market stacked in their favour after years of low mortgage rates, but are also aware that bigger mortgage bills could spell trouble for cash-strapped customers.
Some investors and analysts are already questioning whether banks’ risk models are up to the task of identifying loans that will turn a profit from those which could cost lenders dearly in the long run.
“The problem is people refinancing at 6%, who were at say 2%, are going to suffer massive outflows of cash to support those mortgage payments,” said John Cronin, banking analyst at Goodbody.
“My worry is that the banks’ provision models don’t adequately reflect that affordability challenge in the context of low unemployment.”
Britain’s mortgage market was plunged into chaos last month when the country’s new finance minister Kwasi Kwarteng unveiled a so-called “mini-budget” that promised billions of pounds of unfunded tax cuts.
Markets took fright at the prospect that this would mean vast government borrowing, sending UK government bond prices tumbling, and driving bets on higher interest rates.
The turmoil led banks to withdraw nearly 1,700 mortgage products in the space of a week – equivalent to around 40% of available products – sparking a rush among consumers desperate to secure the cheapest possible deals.
One senior banker said they had seen three times as many remortgage applications than normal in the week after Kwarteng’s mini-budget, and had to redeploy staff to cope with a spike in customer calls.
Some of the deals pulled were gradually reintroduced this week at rates between one to two percentage points higher.
Both the average two-year and five-year fixed-rate mortgage was above 6% as of Friday – for the first time since 2008 and 2010 respectively, data provider Moneyfacts said.
Those average rates were both around 4.75% on Sept 23 before Kwarteng’s fiscal giveaway, and were between 2-3% in October last year, Moneyfacts data showed.

Banks are raising mortgage rates to get ahead of expected Bank of England rate rises, with money markets pricing in benchmark rates hitting nearly 6% next year, based on Refinitiv data.
But the higher rates will hit borrowers hard.
“Everyone who rolls off fixed on to variable, or fixed on to a new fixed rate, is going to see their monthly payments go up so dramatically on top of what’s going on already around food and energy costs,” said Jim Leaviss, CIO of public fixed income at investment manager M&G.
“It is hard to see that we won’t see a substantial slowdown in economic activity over the coming months and indeed throughout 2023,” he added.
Mortgage payments as a proportion of gross household income were on average around 20% in June, according to BuiltPlace, a property market consultancy. They could rise to around 27% – the highest since the early 1990s – if mortgage rates were to rise to 6%, the consultancy said.
Mortgage market conditions were a “hot topic” of discussion at a meeting between bank executives and Kwarteng on Thursday – with affordability “the overriding concern”, according to a source briefed on the discussions. read more
SHORT TERM GAIN, LONG TERM PAIN
Banks benefit from higher rates as they earn money from the difference between what they charge on lending and pay out on deposits.
Jefferies’ analysts estimated that three of Britain’s largest retail banks – NatWest (NWG.L), Lloyds (LLOY.L) and Barclays (BARC.L) – stood to collectively grow their revenue by 12 billion pounds ($13.43 billion) by 2024 due to expanding margins, including on mortgages. These banks reported 48 billion pounds in revenues in 2021.
Lloyds CEO Charlie Nunn told a banking conference last month – prior to Kwarteng’s mini-budget – the lender gained around 175 million pounds of revenue for every 25 basis point rise in rates – assuming it passed just half of the increases to savers.
Bank loan defaults have remained remarkably low through the pandemic and after, but much higher housing costs – piled on to soaring energy bills – could change that, analysts said.
British banks are expected to have “a very good next couple of quarters” before a “tough” 2023, bank analysts at RBC said in a note.
Taking into account the latest mortgage pricing, RBC calculated that mortgage payments would increase by between 470 pounds and 250 pounds per month for remortgaging households depending on whether they had refinanced before.
Private rents could also go up by 280 pounds per month if landlords passed on higher mortgage costs to tenants, the RBC analysts said.
The rise in mortgage rates will be a blow for millions of households’ finances, Sue Anderson, head of media at debt charity StepChange said.
“Our research suggests many households can ill afford this extra pressure – nearly one in two British adults are struggling to keep up with household bills and credit commitments, up from 30% in October 2021 and 15% in March 2020.”
British lenders have held talks with industry trade body UK Finance about forbearance options for struggling customers, the trade body told Reuters, adding it was ready to react as required.
The senior banker said that while mortgage defaults were still low – home loans were typically the last commitment consumers fell behind on – they were not complacent.
“We expect it to be larger scale than normal, and it’s not started yet.”

So, life update!
I haven’t been around, besides my queue rolling, cuz frankly life has taken an aggravating left turn into Bullshitville
Took the kiddo to Michigan to spend some time with his Grandma (and enjoy the lack of two inch long mooseflies gnawing on him). Got back home, day later, power’s gone! Figure it is cuz they’re replacing the poles, grumble about bad luck, continue on with our lives.
Power does not come back on. Call power company. Bill is three days passed due, so being the cunts they are, they disconnect (yes I know they have to send a disconnect notice first, CMP is a nasty piece of shit company and is more than happy to bury someone in lawyers). Cue grumbling and bitching, but hey, payday is only two days away, we can deal, no biggie.
Payday rolls around. No paycheck. Husband goes up to HR. Supervisor apparently “forgot” to put in his PTO that he got approved LITERALLY THREE MONTHS AGO. (This is the same supervisor that refused to give him the holiday pay because he had to leave work for an hour to come get me and the kiddo when our car broke down and the tow truck literally could not take us. And because of policy, that meant Husband lost not one but BOTH days of holiday pay).
So no paycheck that week. Which meant no power. So we hunker down, put our immediate perishables in a cooler and bring up the storm water from the basement. But we lost everything in our freezer that we couldn’t grill within the next two days, and we’re getting low on clean clothes, because we literally just got back from two weeks of traveling.
But we deal. Payday comes around again! Hallelujah.
Bill is paid. Power should come back on, right? Wrong. They say it could take until Monday evening (paid on a Thursday, mind you). Another weekend no lights, no running water. Temps got up to 95* with 100% humidity.
Monday rolls around. Waiting with bated breath for power! No power. Company is closed down for the night.
Call the next morning. They say they’ll send a tech! Only one tech in our area, and he’s on a ten hour job. They promise he’ll swing by tomorrow, first thing!
He does. Says our meter is bad. Comes back sometime in the afternoon and replaces meter. Meanwhile, I’m running around applying for different jobs, because Husband’s old combat injury is getting worse and he can’t keep doing the job he’s doing. I haven’t had a shower since we were in Michigan, so I scrub my hair in the sink and try to find the least smelly clothes I have.
Go to interview. Get job! Things are looking up. Come home, still no power. Have to wait for an overnight reset, they say. Morning rolls around, guess what? Still no fucking power.
At this point we are at the end of our rope. Company claims everything looks good on their end, we should have power. So that means it’s something in the house.
(Keep in mind the power was working just fine before they shut it off.)
Husband calls electrician friend of his. Electrician friend suggests a few small things to try. Nothing works. Meanwhile Husband has left Shit Job and started working full time at the garage, which is good, we both like it much better, but he doesn’t get paid until a project is finished and the customer pays the garage owner. Which is why I am picking up the job at the factory, so we have a steady paycheck.
Electrician friend says it might be the electrical box, which is almost a grand just for the box itself. Says that it might have been shorted out by the bad meter when CMP tried to turn the power back on. Electrician friend offers to come up and look at it Saturday (this was this morning, Friday). We thank electrician friends profusely.
We were supposed to dogsit for my mum and go to the Renn Faire. Had to bin the Renn Faire and I came down solo to my mum’s (which is how I’m posting this) to hang with the dog, do a metric fuck ton of laundry, and take my first shower in three weeks. Tomorrow we will find out whether we have to beggar ourselves to try’n fix the electricity, or if there is a simpler (and cheaper) fix.
So if y’all have any good vibes to spare, I could definitely use them, cuz this has been some ridiculous bullshit.
Good news is I start work full time on Monday!

coworker!taehyung + question ideas #11 + “why are you following me?” :)
“why are you following me?”
pairings. coworker! next door neighbor!taehyung x reader ft. yeontan
words. 1.6k
genre. slice of life
x
kim taehyung and you didn’t start off on the right foot.
for one, his dog pooped on your left foot just as you were standing in front of your door. the urgent call from your company and intern you’re supervising being the cause of you not being able to step into your apartment. somewhere in the middle, you heard a bark and a ‘tannie, no!’ before something mushy touched your foot and stayed there even after you lifted it up and away from the ball of black and streaks of golden.
“i’m so sorry- he’s still under potty training,” taehyung’s adamant nature in apologizing eased the red that spread across your vision.
he offered to wash it off your 400$ heels but you’d refused, “it’s fine, these are old pairs, i was about to throw them away anyway.”
at the time, the relief that overlapped the guilt in his eyes was a kind of beauty that made your heart leap, “did you just move in?”
the apartment next to yours had been empty for a good few months now.
“yeah, last week,” he’d quickly tore one hand away from his dog and patted his palm down his jeans before offering it to you, “i’m taehyung.”
“____,” you’d shook his hand just before he was about to retract it upon further pondering, “and who’s this cutie?” you’d bent over slightly, offering your hand for a shake.
the pupper placed a paw on the tip of your fingers and barked, as though trying to answer you.
“oh, this is yeontan - tannie for short,” a small smile finally appeared on his lips though the lines in his forehead was still there.
shaking the pupper’s paw once, you smile, “tannie-yah, can i call you that?”
yeontan barked once, you’d like to think it was a delightful mark of a new formed friendship.
that was friday.
on saturday, you met him in the morning with the same pupper barking at you in greeting.
“you boys going on a morning walk?” you’d smiled.
“yeah,” taehyung nodded before his eyes went to the ground and up again, “how are your heels?”
“oh, those old things? they’re in the trash now,” you’d bent over to the pupper in taehyung’s hands, “tannie-yah, thanks for helping me get rid of them.”
the dog-poop heel sat next to your bathtub after you’d wiped it clean with a wet tissue before slaving over the work that needed your attention the most. your bathroom reeked of dog feces still.
yeeun called you crazy for not demanding a single cent out of taehyung, “handsomeness can only go so far!”
well, taehyung’s definitely went further than having to get you a pair of new christian louboutin’s.
on sunday, you’d left in the early morning to your company. you weren’t sure if the cute dog owner next door went for a walk that day.
but you knew he wasn’t on monday.
clad in a suit and tie, he’d appeared more mature than the oversized t shirt and wide pants. the time between waiting for the elevator and chatting as it went down was fleeting. you were glad you’d had the extra time to talk while waiting for the bus.
when it came, you’d hurriedly waved him goodbye and stepped in, not knowing that he would enter and waited a few feet away from you because it was packed and he couldn’t come any closer to continue your conversation. you were left with exchanging smiles with each other.
by the time the bus stopped at the juncture a few blocks away from your company, you’d narrowed your eyes at the man who got off with you. he was fixing his tie when your question made him look up with rounded eyes.
“why are you following me?”
perhaps it was the tugged in the corners of your lips that eased his shock - granted, no one would want to be misunderstood as a stalker.
“i’m going to work,” he announced.
you remembered yeeun mentioning something about a newbie - at that time, you were too preoccupied to inquire more about when this newbie was starting.
“don’t tell me it’s at luxean,” you quizzed.
“no way,” he’d looked at you like he was seeing a ghost.
and that was how you’d went from next door neighbors to coworkers hiding the fact that they were next door neighbors.
“they’ll make us work overtime together!” you’d sighed, “since it’s more ‘convenient’ for us to meet up and finish up work.”
taehyung only chuckled but agreed anyway.
and so it went, you’d become bus buddies and coworkers with secrets. then you’d become meal buddies, knocking on your door at 8 in the pm and offering spicy rice cakes because, “hey, i ordered an extra, did you have dinner yet?”
it was obvious that you didn’t. and it was obvious that he knew, “do you wanna come over and have dinner together? it’s been awhile since me and tan have visitors over.”
then one dinner became two and two became three, until it was almost as natural as breathing to ask the other what they want for dinner.
“ugh, i’ve been craving chicken lately,” you’d thrown your head back, vapor wafting on top of your coffee.
it was break time and taehyung found you munching on snacks at the resting area before he decided to join you.
“me too, i think the last time i had it was three weeks ago,” he sighed, patting his tummy.
“should we go get swicy chicken tonight?” you grinned.
taehyung looked at you with a tilt in his head and a playful smile.
then came a time when you couldn’t afford take-outs anymore, “if i opened my purse, i’m afraid a butterfly will fly out.”
“should we cook?” he suggested.
“oh hell no,” you’d shaken your head rapidly, as though trying to shake off the horrendous recollections of the last time you tried cooking, “unless you want me to burn the whole building down!”
“with your brain and my skills, what could go wrong?” was what he said.
the answer was a lot of things. from the pollocks catching on fire to the apartment smelling like a cremation place to the both of you giving up and settling with ramen.
“we tried,” you announced.
“we did,” taehyung echoed your sentiments, if not a tad bit dejected because he was the one that got you in on the idea when you’d initially proposed for having ramen every night until payday.
then it was back to slaving in front of your laptop for hours on end and taehyung knocking on your apartment door at 3 in the am because he texted you prior to that, asking if you had some coffee.
“how close are you to being done?” you’d asked, handing him three tins of mocha.
“not even half,” he huffed.
but then came an idea and your half-working brain blurted it out carelessly, “wanna come over and do it together? at least we can motivate each other out.”
there was no reason why you couldn’t do it separately in your own apartments and checked up on the other through text. but taehyung didn’t seem to think of that option, “sure.”
he’d found your dog-pooped heel when he went for the bathroom and you’d remembered only after he’d went in. neither of you said anything after he came back but when your workload got lighter and you’d got your paycheck, taehyung knocked on your door on a weekend while you were in your pj’s and bedhair pointing in every direction.
he was donned in his usual over sized shirt and wide pants with a beanie as an addition. you almost slammed the door in his face but he was smiling like he’d always smiled at you.
“happy paycheck day,” a bark echoed a second later from somewhere behind him.
“taehyung - you didn’t-” your jaw was on the floor and you’d looked at the paper bag with the initials of YSL overlapping each other like it was fire.
“i did, and i want to,” he looked over at the ball of jet black that was looking up at grinning up at you, “right, tannie?”
“tannie, you should’ve been the voice of reason!” you’d playfully chided but hugged the paper bag to your chest anyway, “thank you, taehyung.”
it was somewhere down the line that kim taehyung asked if you’d wanted to go for coffee - and you’d dumbly offered the ones stocked up in your fridge before he’d looked away hesitantly, hand scratching the back of his head.
by then, you’d recovered from your idiocy, “oh- you- mean, coffee, like that kind of coffee.”
“it’s okay if you-” he quickly says but you’re quicker, index finger on his lips, a smile tucked in the corners of your lips - till this very day, you wonder where you got that confidence.
“i would be delighted to grab some coffee with you.”
taehyung looked at you then like he looks at you now, like he can’t believe that you said yes to a coffee date with him. like he can’t believe you said yes to moving in with him to save up for your dream house. like he can’t believe you’re standing there, in a white dress, yeontan sitting as still as he can next to you after escorting you down the aisle.
you mouth ‘i love you’ to him before the pastor finishes off his question for you. and you turn to the aging man, grin turning into a schooled smile like you do when he sees you dealing with your clients.
but then you steal a glance at him and the smile falters into a grin for the briefest moment before you say, sincerely, madly, deeply.
“i do.”

Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I have cropped any personally identifying information out of the pictures for obvious reasons.)
So here's all the information I have at the moment on the Bonus Situation.
* To recap, the bonus projection software has been telling me for a couple weeks now that I would get a $96.06 bonus. Normally in the past this has occurred on the second paycheck of the month.
* Many of us have noticed the bonus projection software not updating properly since about October 4.
* I called IT the other day and filed a ticket about the frozen bonus projections, on advice from a friend on the support team.
* Today, or rather yesterday by the time I'm writing this, I got my electronic pay stub for the payday coming up this Friday, and discovered that it was unexpectedly short, specifically because the bonus listed on it was $12 instead of $96.06.
* I emailed my supervisor about the shorted bonus. She has forwarded the email up the chain of command but has no firm information yet. We will not both be at work again till Sunday, so I will hear no more from her on the issue till then.
* Later in the afternoon, I received the above email, from the admin in charge of the bonus projection software. Several things are hinky about this email. To wit:
* "The data for the M[onth] T[o] D[ate] numbers has been paused as of early this month because they are used for the calculating of the monthly bonuses, which is still being worked on." I am not here to criticize Mr Admin's grammar, but to point out that this is a blatantly flimsy excuse, for the extremely simple reason that there is a whole separate tab for last month's bonus data, and in fact that tab is still fully functional and showing my $96.06 bonus! It is this month's daily tracking of bonus data which has been frozen.
* Granted, if one were to admit the concept that the bonuses were still being calculated, it could be taken to explain why I'm only getting a $12 bonus on my paycheck. However, the bonuses were calculating themselves in realtime for the whole of September, and the last metrics finalized themselves on October 7. In the week since then, I could have calculated the bonuses for the entire bloody company using nothing more than my smartphone calculator and paper if I was given a paid 40-hour week to do it in, let alone having a software that was already displaying the answers!
* Also, you know, the software has never before needed to be frozen while last month's bonuses are "calculated", let alone a week after the metrics were finalized. And it has always previously told me accurately whether it was going to send me a $500 bonus or none, or something in between. This is, in short, fishy.
* Mr Bonus Admin goes on to state, "You should still be able to access the daily values" (I can't), "but the monthly ones will not update, and in fact should now not show up at all, until the work to change the scorecard and bonus structure is done. That activity should hopefully be done next week."
* The other picture besides the email is the completely blank screen where my outdated bonus projection resided until today. The one about the metrics I'm currently getting for October, not the one about the $96.06 bonus I was supposed to get for September, which may I remind you is still quite visible.
* "Your numbers are wrong? Boom, NO MORE NUMBERS! There, I fixed it." XD
* The referenced "work to change" the software has not been announced to workers at my level in any way, and no changes that could possibly involve shutting down the whole system have been made or announced. I am frankly Suspicious.
* Other agents have also said things about missing bonuses or confusing bonuses. One supervisor announced that the bonuses would not show up till our Halloween paycheck, which I could hypothetically swallow, if I didn't have a $12 bonus sitting there in black and white on this week's pay stub. Seems like there's a lot of misinformation floating around right now. (Also a certain amount of what smells very like disinformation.)
* So, lacking any information what is actually going on, and faced with an email that would have to put on black tights and a domino mask to look any more disingenuous, my brain is going for all the wildest explanations, like "The system has glitched out completely and is assigning random bonuses to everybody, and they're frantically trying to cover while they get it fixed", or even more dramatically, "Maybe the company can't afford to pay all our bonuses and is retroactively revamping the bonus system, and it was supposed to be done in time for payday but they're running late, and also maybe they really are only going to give me $12". That seems slightly less likely though because they did just give me, on the same paycheck, $28.08 in backdated raise.
* I'm also stressing the fuck out about bonuses in general because I had a really bad stats day today. A disgruntled gentleman (whose account was legitimately pretty thoroughly fucked by a previous incompetent agent) gave me a low survey, which busted me straight down from the $2/hour bonus tier to the 50¢/hour bonus tier. If my other numbers are really good for the whole rest of the month I can maaaaybe struggle my way back up to the $1.25/hour bonus tier. :P
* I also only took 9 calls today, averaging a half hour each (not counting outbound callbacks after various calls dropped), which fucked my call length for the month from the truly astonishing 795 seconds I'd been running, just under the wire for an additional 50% on top of my bonus, all the way up to 901 seconds, where I'm barely scraping by under the cutoff for having my bonus cut in half. I'd have to come in under 700 seconds every day for the rest of the month to recover from that, and I can't recover from the flunked survey at all.
* So, you know, I've gone from expecting a $96.06 bonus on Friday and hoping for a $474 bonus next month, to getting a measly $12 bonus, a runaround from tech, and maybe a $79 bonus next month if my numbers don't get any worse. It really feels like a kick in the gut.
* (If a fucking miracle happened and I wound up with upsells over $30 a call, non-repeating callers over 86.5%, and an average call length under 930 seconds, I could hypothetically get a $197.50 bonus. Or if I also managed to squeak my surveys back up above 82% good... okay, that's only one more good survey and no more bad ones, it could happen. More likely, my upsells wouldn't quite hit $30 and any further good surveys I get would go toward making up the difference. But if I had both my repeat callers and my upsells excellent, I'd only need one more good survey -- assuming no more bad ones, obviously -- to squeak back up to the $2/hour tier for a hypothetical bonus of $316.)
* The trouble with that being that I don't... I don't know if I have any faith anymore that I'll actually get my bonus as projected? Like I can't think of any way that mysterious and unspecified "work changing the bonus structure" mid-month combines with an inexplicable $12 bonus to work out in my favor. I feel like I'm bracing for a slap.

↳  pairing taehyung x you ↳  genre fluff, slice of life, domestic, husband-Taehyung amen ↳  words 6k ↳  summary raising five kids with a full-time job is a challenge. thankfully, Taehyung agreed to be a full-time house husband. but the matriarch family aren’t usually appreciated. Especially, when the women earns for the house.  ↳ note Taehyung have 5 kids, they’re : Renee (7), Noah & Niel (5), Tati (3) and the youngest, Sam (3 months old) ↳ song lieuwe roonder ‘let me love you’
Taehyung begins his duties at 4am everyday. Around this hour, the youngest will be fed with her formula milk, freshly warmed and perfect for the morning. Taehyung’s large feet slip into mismatched indoor slippers, sitting at the side of the bed and he’d turn off the night lamp from his side. He routinely take your phone and plug it to the charger while you stay asleep.
For Taehyung, the day begins early. And he usually started with pouring the grinded coffee beans into the coffee machine, and lets them boil in time while he disappears to the laundry room with your blouse for ironing. He stifled a yawn, gliding the iron to smoothen creases on the semi-crumple light pink long sleeves.  What is that colored blob? He leans in to see closer. But without his glasses, he wasn’t able to make sense of what it was, so he sniffed it.
Milk? Coffee? Milk coffee?
Taehyung’s eyes darted to the top left of the ceiling after setting away the iron from the board, to prevent it from burning like the last time. How many time do I have to tell her not to stain her clothes? This is twice this month.
He didn’t waste time to pick another maroon flowy blouse with a black pencil skirt for you to wear to work today. This one needs a steam iron because its made of satin silk. He was saving this particular blouse for friday night, but he had no choice.
The coffee machine readily brews and began to expel its liquid into the coffee jar right underneath it. Taehyung dashes pass it with your ironed cloth on a hanger. It hooks securely around the edge of the wardrobe—out of reach of children.
He looks at the time. 5:15AM. Next, laundry. He collects heaps of clothes set next to each door and into the large basket he held close to his waist.
The baby begins to cry. You frowned in your sleep, but as you try to reach your phone, it wasn’t there. You lay face down, grabbing nothing on the side table. Not a minute later, you heard Taehyung shushing her quiet.
“Daddy’s got you… shush, mummy’s sleeping…” Taehyung rocks Sam side to side, while attacking with smooches around her face. Barely 10 months old, Sam is already gurgling audible words. Taehyung predicts that she’ll start walking before she turns two. Sam’s eyes is wide open and Taehyung knows she won’t be able to be put to bed again.
Sam is going to cling on him like a baby koala. Not that he minds. Taehyung is now fixing the water bath warm enough for a shower. As it fills up, Taehyung lunges down the hall in fast steps to knock on the eldest door. “Renee? Renee… wake up, school time…” he turns the knob to find Renee stirring in her single bed and kissed the top of her head. The fourth child fell asleep on the floor next to Renee’s books.
“How did Tati end up on the floor, Renee?” Taehyung asked in hushes. He had to put Sam down to carry Tati back up into her bed as Renee waddles with her blue towel draped over one shoulder. Her eyes drooping sleepily. Taehyung collected Sam again and walked out.
He poked his head into the fridge after placing Sam on the baby chair to take out three overnight oatmeals and milk. Taehyung passed the baby chair to jog down the other end of the hall to wake the twins, Noah and Niel. Renee is out of the bathroom now, and she is dressing herself up. She’s 7 and just started school.
“Dad! Where’s my nametag?” She yelled. “Check your pocket!” Taehyung retorted, before knocking twice on the boys’ door. Before he turns the knob, he inhaled deeply as if he’s about to unleash the beast. In this case, two beasts.
“Boys, good morning…” he sang. “Daddy I can’t find my nametag…” Renee whined at the door in her school uniform. “Okay, I’ll go find it, but can you have breakfast while you wait?” Taehyung said in a hurry. Noah had stood up in the middle of his bed and Niel won’t move.
“Alright…”
Tati had began crying very loudly.
“Also, sweetheart can you go wake mummy up? She’s going to be late,” Taehyung kneels next to Niel, and shaking his shoulder to wake him. He’s sleeping like a log. Only 5 years old, but sleeps more than Uncle Yoongi does.
Renee disappears. But now Tati started whimpering, while hugging Taehyung’s arm. Noah is now pulling down his pants with his dingles dangling, saying he wants to pee. Taehyung sprints to grab Noah from the bed, and into the bathroom. But he didn’t make it to the potty. Noah peed on the floor.
Tati’s crying intensifies because she fell back when Taehyung carried Noah. Niel threw her a plushie in an attempt to quiet her down.
“Daddy!” She shrieked, “Niel threw me bear-bear…” “Niel, don’t throw Tati the bear-bear… what did daddy tell you about that,” Taehyung is cleaning Noah up.
“Daddy where is the socks?” Renee asked. Noah is groaning while Niel is throwing a tantrum in his bed.
“Noah, Niel, you are going to be late. Where is Tati’s pacifier? Who took Tati’s pacifier?” Taehyung wipes Noah’s face with his own shirt before patting Niel’s bottom to hurry him.
“Noah! Niel!” You roared from across the hall. The boys straightens up and waddled to your room.
“How many times do I have to tell you that when dad had the baths ready, you have to wake up when he asked you to?” Hand on hip and the two tattle to the bathroom and showered.
Taehyung carries Tati around his waist now. He passes you a mug of coffee. Tati stopped crying immediately. “Dad! My nametag!” Renee yelled. Taehyung tipped his head back and you patted his chest twice, “I got it, watch the boys…” and then, “Coming baby. Mommy is coming!”
“No I want daddy…”
You stopped in your steps and spun your heel around, “Guess not…”
Taehyung hands Tati to you and you watched the boys brush their teeth, before he disappears into the hallway to help Renee. “Do you really need that nametag?” Taehyung whined.
“Even mom and dad don’t remember my name sometimes.”
The boys is now dressed in their pre-school uniforms and climbing on the tall stool for their breakfast. Sam had dunk her whole hand inside the bowl of oat meant for Noah. And Noah screams.
“Sam put her hand inside my food!” “Sam don’t put your hand in Niel’s food…” “I’m Noah!” “I’m not Niel!”
“And I will be late,” You buttoned up your blouse and zipped your pencil skirt.
Taehyung finally sat Tati down, wiped Sam’s oat covered hand with a wet cloth. “Can you fetch Renee? Didn’t you get half day off? The boys has parents teachers meeting we need to attend…” He glances at you repeatedly, while reminding Renee to wipe her mouth before she leaves with you.
“I really can’t. I’m swamped today… can’t you be late for the meeting to fetch Renee? Just bring Renee along…” “Renee has piano lessons today…” “Oh shoot, I forgot.”
“We need to do laundries tonight. It’s still on right?” Taehyung held the door open while Renee, Noah, Neil and you wore shoes and scattered out the door. “Yeah definitely,” you stood on tiptoes and plant a kiss on his cheek. “Please, for the love of God, be home before 6pm,” he eyed you, lips parted a little.
“Remember to get the rice cake order for grandma’s memorial ceremony!” Taehyung yelled, followed by, “Be good at school, all three of you!”
Taehyung turns to Tati and Sam. Both too young to go to school, still in their PJs.
“Guess there’s just us, girls.”
And then he heard it. The beeping. The semi silent ringing. He dashed to the messy bedroom to see the phone blinking. Your phone.
“Damn it.”

Extra diapers. Some edibles. Some toys to pass time. It didn’t take long for Taehyung to pack Tati’s backpack.
“When we get to mummy’s office, you have to promise me you don’t run around, and behave okay?” Taehyung knelt next to the bag. Tati leans her tiny body on Taehyung’s arm. Sam is gurgling on the sofa on her back.
“Why are we going to mummy’s office?” “Mummy forgot her phone. She needs it so we could call her later in the evening.”
It gets really hard. He’s not going to lie. Having five children isn’t a walk in the park. More like running through it. Raising children is not a one person job. It could feel like 15, and at the end of the month there’s always a constant worry if the expenses will be enough until the next payday. There’s two diaper packs that needed to be bought, and school items, school trips, and fees. Uniforms, extra lessons. Having a family means having a lot. Before you even decide to have this home with him, he already had trouble convincing you to have children. Everybody knows how eager Taehyung is about having a large family, and to be honest with you, sometimes you feel like marrying a complete stranger when it comes to things like this.
Sometimes, he felt like marrying a stranger. At one point, your goals and destination seems different from one another because you were still a career-oriented girl with determination of a first year worker, but at the same time you are also mom to five, and sometimes, Taehyung demanded your presence in the home you built together. Having children also means less time together. Which leaves little room for communication. You’d be home, far too tired for a conversation, and he’d be piled with domestic demands and tasks. You try to help, you do, but most of the time you are at work and there are moments that you don’t get to see your children for days. But you are determined not to leave room for doubts when it comes to Taehyung and your priorities. It was a lengthy shift from your golden university aspirations, but you can’t imagine a life without Taehyung. And now, the five children.
Fingernail tap on the marble desk coming from a pair of large hands. The concierge occupant lift her gaze to see a friendly boxy smile. She intuitively tuck her hair behind her ear helix.
“I’m not sure if you remember,” Taehyung shyly greeted her. “Yes! Yes, Mr. Kim… Mrs. Kim’s husband, it’s been awhile, I’ll let you up. Here’s your passcard,” she bowed once and Tati waved enthusiastically back at her. So cheerful.
“You’re adorable…Is this the little one?” the receptionist let out a bashful smile. “No, this one is. This one is Sam,” Taehyung turns to show the gurgling bundle of joy, strapped on his back. Taehyung lets out a proud smile as he took the passcard.
Tati reaches for her dad’s hand but wrapped her little finger only around his pinkie. Sam falls to a sleepy riddle. “Earlier, Mrs. Kim was in a meeting. I’m not sure if it has ended or not, but do help yourself around…” the receptionist smiled politely, guiding Taehyung down the elevator hallway and pressed the button going up. Then she leaves him be.
Taehyung felt rather giddy going back here after awhile. The last time he came, he made quite an impression for singing live with his honeyed deep voice that leaves the audience awed. The last time he came, he was a vocal coach with a five figure earnings, a good sports car and a collection of Van Gogh arts. Last time he came, there was no Renee, Noah, Niel, Tati or Sam. That was close to ten years ago. This is where he met his wife, you.
He’s not going to lie. He sometimes ponder on how life would be if he didn’t fall for you that night. Maybe sitting in his expensive penthouse, in a king sized bed, filled with loneliness, of a longing for someone he had never met, wondering if she was still out there. He let go of his job, so you could have yours.
Tumblr media
Tati tugs his sleeves, looking up at him through her thick lashes. “Daddy, I need to go potty,” she murmured cutely. Tati had recently been toilet-trained so she was told to tell someone if she needs to go to the toilet. Taehyung gulped down the whole plastic cup of drinking water at once, in a hurry, because he knows that if he dragged time, she’d might pee there and then. There’s only one problem.
The male restroom doesn’t have toilet bowl meant for kids like the females. Taehyung dashed through the automated door and carried Tati into the first cubicle. Sam is snoozing on her father’s back, soundly. Her finger stretches as she accommodates the sudden movement, but resumes sleeping. Taehyung heard the next door cubicle was being flushed, and then another.
“Did you hear about our head technician and our company lawyer?” this man had a higher voice tone, with a slight southern twang at the end of his words, suggesting a heavy Gwangju accent.
Taehyung then heard your name. “With Min Yoongi? The lawyer?” Another man replied, the automated wash basin washing water down their palms when it detects hands. This one had a clearer set of pronunciation. Fit for a news anchor, with the way he spoke.
“Nah, with our leading advocate, solicitor, and P.A.; Park Jimin,” the one with Gwangju accent replied, “Turns out that the company’s recent soliciting isn’t the only soliciting he does.” “What do you mean?” “Rumors had it that they’re a thing. Last month, when the company vault had an audit check, Jimin promptly said the auditing for May was in his team, when it wasn’t. Now why would he do that if he doesn’t have a thing for her?” Slight pause, “...Someone caught them dating in the car last Tuesday. All laughing and giggling… it was very scandalous.” “Isn’t she married?” “I know right… I don’t think her husband knows.” “Why would she do such a thing…”
That’s right. Why would you do such a thing.
“Daddy--” Tati spoke but Taehyung covered her mouth immediately, waiting for the two men to leave. After putting Tati into her briefs, Taehyung walked back out with her. His mind flashes into the conversations he had caught you in, oftenly, middle of the night when everyone was asleep.
“I just want to say thank you for today, it was really nice to have someone to lean on when things go south,” he heard you sigh into the phone by the window, away from bed. You must have thought he was asleep.
“I really enjoyed it, I do… too much,in fact,” you swept your untied hair back, and looked up to the window pane, drawing random shapes on the fogged window.
All these while, he thought it was a girl. All these while he thought it was your best friend from college. He never once questioned your loyalty, ever.
And when he left that restroom, he saw his doubts in action.
You were walking down the crisp hallway, fiddling with a file in your chest, smiling far too widely even for a friend, to that man with glasses. It was very unsettling. The conversation you had with him.
“I wouldn’t know what to do, if it weren’t for you…” you let out a breathy giggle. “You don’t have to worry about that. I got you, I always do. That’s my job,” this man passed.
“You should break me in half the next time too. I’d appreciate that.” “Don’t mind if I do.”
Taehyung waited until you both disappeared into the staff’s pantry. Then he took Tati out from hiding and she innocently asked, “Why didn’t we talk to mom?”
“We came to surprise her, didn’t we?” Taehyung blurted with a broken smile, and rubbed her hair, “Got to fix your ponytail so you’ll look neat for mommy. How does daddy look? Do I look handsome?”
She nodded enthusiastically. She doesn’t know anything. She doesn’t understand anything.
And in that brief moment, Taehyung resented you. Not because you gave him room for doubts, but because you allowed someone else to come in between. Your actions are selfish. Spiteful.
“Go knock on mommy’s glass door…” Taehyung urged Tati and she did with a huge toothy grin.
“Come in…” your voice was clipped and full of authority. The one Taehyung remembers whenever he calls you at work, or in bed, several years ago before Sam came.
Taehyung helped Tati pushed the door open and you gasped pleasantly so loud, pushing your chair back and knelt before she even get into your open arms, greeting you with a huge hug. “My babies!” you closed your arm around her and carried her up to one side of your waist, before stretching towards Taehyung to have him leaning over for a smooch but he settled for a brush on your cheeks instead. You ruffled Sam’s hair too. Precious.
“I didn’t expect this!” You giggled, and Taehyung pulled your phone out of his back pocket and you replied a disgruntled, ”Oh.”
“Can we talk for a bit?” Taehyung asked in a deep tone. Tati cupped her hand to whisper in your ear. She asked if she can lay down on the couch there. You simply nodded to Taehyung but only after you excitedly answer Tati’s question. “Of course, baby girl, you can sit, and you can lie down, just promise not to stand on it because you could fall and hurt yourself, okay?” You set her feet on the floor and brushed your lips on her forehead so it’s now smushed with red lipstick.
Red lips always lie.
“Is it about school? Renee’s? The boys?”
Taehyung shook his head.
“Do I need to call someone to watch over the kids?”
“You know what. I came to give you the phone and I did. So I think I should head back soon,” Taehyung looks at the wall clock, “Noah and Niel are coming home soon and I hadn’t cooked anything.”
Then he felt your hand around his forearms, giving an assuring squeeze. “But you just got here, can’t you stay for a little while?”
Do you even want me here? Are you just playing the good wife because your cover was almost blown? Where has he touched you? Where have you let his hands go? Because that breathy laughter was reserved for me. And only me.
“Just a little while,” Taehyung felt his heart softened while his head hardens. A part of him felt disappointed that he let you win. Another part of him wanted to be the man that is still foolishly in love with you and another, wanted to walk away because the reap wasn’t as much as he sow. If only things were that simple. If it wasn’t for these kids, he would have gone rampage the moment he found out. How could he catch on the signs? He was too busy running the household. Busy wiping pees, cleaning poops, ironing clothes, getting food ready--he could not have noticed the telling signs of you cheating.
You spent more time here at work than you ever did at home. How could he be so stupid?
He was in love…. Love makes people stupid.
So he sat there, Sam sleeping on her side and her blankets draped over her to accommodate the indoor aircon temperature while Tati had slept on Taehyung’s lap, having her dad fluffing her hair to make her sleepy--he sat there watching you take calls, the length of the pen in between your lips, eyes focused, hands flipping over the pages of endless accounts. Your job is to keep the supplies going for months. Every product delivery and the materials to create them were under your supervisions, a stressful job that was slightly different than the ones you had when you were in the industry, working there.
In short, you have to plan two months supply ahead for fast-moving items to meet demands. Knowing so many people depend on your efficiency gives you slight anxiety that you were still taking pills for. Taehyung knows that much.
“Baby, are you stressed?” his sudden question didn’t stir you much, you were too occupied with work to bother too much about it. “Same old-same old, sweetheart… why? Is there something you’d like to talk about?” you murmured, switching your attention on the left page of the reports for last week delivery numbers to help predict the next month’s consumption.
“Just asking…” “I hope we can have lunch together, I wanted to eat with the kids.”
Taehyung felt an incoming ‘but’. But he was intruded, before it could come.
Jimin walks in. Yes, Taehyung knows about Jimin. He is your personal assistant for a year now since the last one resigned because she was starting a family. At first, Taehyung didn’t pay attention to it, but now that he had doubts; every single glance, words, and touches exchanged between you and Jimin had become breadcrumbs.
With a sleek blonde hair, pushed back, Jimin wore a classy baby blue dress shirt, paired with black trousers too tight for Taehyung’s comfort. He wears full-rimmed glasses but today, had them folded and tuck in his breast pocket when he came to see you.
“You called for me?” Raspy, light toned, polite and mesmerizing voice. He bowed his head slightly at the sight Taehyung and smiled fondly to the sleeping toddlers.
“I did,” you paused while pulling out a file from the stack, “I don’t recall agreeing on this design for the Summer packaging, and this particular bubble wrap supplier, we’ve worked with in the past, they’re very late in completing orders, I just don’t understand why I have to approve something I didn’t agree on--the last time I checked,” you tipped your eyes up and Jimin leans down closer, both of your faces are merely inches away from each other. You pointed the said company on the invoice paper and showed Jimin. Jimin squeezes his eyes and lowered his head to see better. That’s what the glasses are for, Taehyung pushes his tongue against the insides of his cheek, watching an absolute horror unfold before his eyes.
“Yes, yes… I remember that too,” Jimin softly whispered. It was almost as if Taehyung is morphed into witnessing a pillowtalk, “Here’s what we do, I’m going to double check with the secretary and make sure that we have updated the new list of companies that we are satisfied working with; I’ll make sure to email you, no later than…” he drags, and looked at his Rolex wrist watch that looked very similar to the ones you got for Taehyung on his birthday last year, brown straps, “...3pm.”
“Thanks, Jimin...what would I do without you,” you breathlessly say and Jimin gave you a charming smile that turned his eyes into crescents. “No problem,” Jimin tipped his head in your direction and excused himself with a polite expression at Taehyung, his boss’s husband. “I thought we’re going to talk?” Taehyung stuck his gaze on his knees, raising both of his eyebrows, his thumb picking on the threads of his worn out jeans.
You noticed the sudden change of tone but decided not to dwell on it. “Can it wait? Is it important?” The way it leaves your lips, was so tactless and when you realised how insensitive it was, it was already too late.
“I don’t know. Is our marriage important?”
Tumblr media
You shut the door leading to the sky garden after Taehyung set his hands on the metal rails, over-looking down the metropolitan city. The high-rise building, the blue cloudless sky, the strong wind striking every once in a while, the car honks from the streets down below.
“Taehyung, what’s this about?” with the silence growing, you became impatient. Taehyung drops his head, his arms stretched along the handrails with a heavy huff and the droop of his shoulders.
“You built everything from the ashes… this building we stood on. From scrapes. It’s funny when you think about the very beginning at the first hint of an,” end. Taehyung didn’t finish his sentence. “This is all very lovely, and heart-warming,” you clicked your tongue and looks at your wrist watch, “But we could do this conversation inside...I thought it was something serious, because you mentioned marriage and stuff.” “It is about marriage,” Taehyung spun around to face you, “You--”
Your phone rang, and you answered it, “Yes I am aware of the conference call, I will be there on time, Jimin. Thank you for the reminder.” Much to Taehyung’s dismay. Taehyung’s jaw hung, in disbelief. He scoffs.
“Look at you!” he stresses, “You don’t have time being a mother, let alone a wife! Your work is consuming you. Not only that, you spend more time here than you ever do at home…! You speak to Jimin more than we do in a week!” He slows down, only to continue, “It was Tati’s birthday last week and you didn’t even show up or get her a present. I bought one for her and told her that it was from you.... And she was so happy…” he shook his head, a broken smile on his lips.
You were stunned. You were unable to utter a word. So you begin with a whisper of his name, “Taehyung…”
He turns away from you, his hand on his hip and he darted his eyes to the front before shutting them. Disappointed, unloved and possibly unheard.
“Everytime I say I need you home, you say you’re at the office and you will be late. All I want to know is, is it really work? Or is there more?” “What are you talking about…” “I’m talking about why Jimin is calling you out of office hours? And why do I find his tie in your bag? Why does he have the same wrist watch I have? Are you cheating on me?” “No. I wouldn’t!” “So you would have, if you didn’t have 5 kids with me? Is that it?” “Stop twisting my words… Jimin is my coworker and he helped me purchase that wrist watch for you. I went to team dinner with him, I told you that!”
Taehyung turns to face you and your brimming eyes, he leans his mouth next to your ear and growled, “Well coworkers don’t sit in the car together, after midnight...you thought I didn’t see that?” Taehyung leaves the sky garden with a hard gaze, piercing through Jimin’s entire body when he found the poor assistant standing right beside the entrance door to the sky garden. Taehyung was a master at disguising his emotions. Especially in front of his children.
“I’ll see myself out, thank you,” Taehyung carried Sam and Tati with ease. When Tati asked why she can’t say goodbye, Taehyung said, her mom is in a meeting. It was an obvious lie and Jimin heard it all.
You were still there. Still standing at the same spot Taehyung left you in. Still there, processing everything that had been said. Jimin’s heavy footsteps didn’t shake away your worry one bit, like it used to. You clutched your phone shakily, and pressed them against your lips, eyes darted forward at the sky. And you heard the door open, but you wave them away, whoever it might be. Not even turning to face them.
Jimin nodded once, “I’ll tell them you’ll be in ten minutes.”
Instead of heading back to the office, Jimin hid in the bathroom for employees. He laced his fingers together and leaned his forehead on them, sitting on the toilet cover, knees widespread. He bit his lips and half-shook his head.
Tumblr media
You returned home before 6pm that day. The house is in a mess. For the first time in a long time, you arranged your heels neatly on the racks. The kids have had their dinner early. And there are three large baskets for laundry, arranged in a line by the wall. You took time to notice all the finer details of your beloved home, the one you build with Taehyung. Picture frames after picture frames greeted you. Of when Renee turned 2, then 3, then 4… and how you gradually disappear through the years. You couldn’t ignore the pain in your heart when you heard Taehyung’s voice in the distance.
“Okay, everybody out the tub!” Taehyung commanded, “Look at your fingers all wrinkled! We have to get out now, or you’ll age!” “Dad is lying!” Noah and Niel are very giggly and it struck you that you’ve never given bath to the kids ever since they could start to walk.. Sam had never been bathe by you since you started working, and you relied heavily on Taehyung.
“Oh noona! You’re home,” Jungkook bowed at you. Jungkook lives next door and frequently helped with babysitting the kids whenever he is needed. Laundry every 3 days and he’ll come and does his duties without being prompted. Once he resumes his college, you will have to find a new replacement and you hadn’t spoke about this with Taehyung yet. There’s a lot of things that needed discussions, and there’s so little time in a day.
Blinking the tears away, you turned your attentions to the halls where Taehyung is carrying both of the boys in each arm, wrapped in towels. Taehyung caught your eyes but didn’t reciprocate the sadness. It’s like the conversation never happened, but with the way he was ignoring you, you were once again reminded that it did.
“Do you want to change first or what…” your husband took your purse but avoided your eyes entirely. “I’ll change,” you breathed.
Taehyung nods once. “Alright, Jungkook. The baby is in the crib there, Tati is colouring in the room while Renee is doing her homework.. There’s chopped fruit cubes in the fridge in case they get hungry, and there’s extra bottles of milk for the youngest. The boys have eaten no matter how much they try to fool you, don’t fall for it..understand?”
You could still hear Taehyung from the halls and it was amazing how he had everything sorted, alone. The bed is still neat, and none of the children were allowed on it, because it was mum and dad’s special place. Toys are in the basket, the diapers are arranged, along with the baby clothes, and it was easy to look past all these detail and you hated yourself for not being able to see this before.
Jungkook helped carry the baskets down with Taehyung and before your husband could make his way to the driver seat, you stopped him. Your eyes pleaded him with words you couldn’t say, when Jungkook is still here, fooling with the kids. Taehyung moves away, wordlessly and planted a kiss on each of the kids’ hair that manages to follow Jungkook down the apartment into the parking lot.
In the car, Taehyung rested his elbow on the car door, his long index finger rubbing the skin on top of his upper lip, his eyes lasering to the view outside the moving car. There’s only the music from the radio playing. Your heart is beating very fast, your eyes were drying from the way you were making them stay open. He’s right next to you, but you don’t feel him there. Is he even breathing? You want nothing more than to reach for him, tell him that you love him and how it doesn’t change, but it feels like you’re already too late. You don’t want to carry on like nothing is wrong. You want to save what you have left.
Taehyung was biting the insides of his cheeks, replaying the scene from this morning in repeat. He was angry, sad, upset, jealous--and he isn’t sure where to put his feelings. He doesn’t speak because all the talking had been done. You weren’t speaking either, but what was those eyes for? The way you’re looking at him. Is it a plea for him to stay? Why would you think he was going anywhere? The accusations are true, isn’t it? That’s why it scared you. Taehyung was eating his feelings.
He loads the laundry. No words exchanged. You insert the coins while he collects the empty basket, and stack them, one after the other. He took one bench and you took the seat right next to him. In between you both, on the floor, are the baskets you came with, empty. All its content in three different machines. Taehyung leans his head back. He wore a grey hoodie underneath a red plaid jacket. His brown fringes cover his brows, as he pushed his tongue against the insides of his cheek. You sat up straight, at the edge of the bench, knees pointed to the side where he is, hands in your lap, clasped and unclasping.
“...I want to tell you that everything you heard isn’t true,” you started. Taehyung nodded away, but in a careless way, as if he didn’t believe a thing you said. “It’s not just about what I heard. It’s what I see. With my own two eyes. It leaves me wondering what else you’ve been doing behind my back…” Taehyung crosses his arms. “Nothing, sweetie…” you emphasized, “I do my work, and nothing else.”
“Listen,” you moved closer to him but he repelled, “I realised that we haven’t been spending time together and that’s horrible of me. I hadn’t been treating you well but I want to, starting now. I just need to know that you still want this.”
Taehyung’s guard starts to wane. His arms fall to each side and he sat on the edge, clutching his fingers on the brim of the bench, underneath him. He chews his lower lip, feeling anxious to tell you what he had been feeling.
“I do. But, do you?” he pauses, and then, “When you come home from work, you don’t even look at me. You fall right to sleep when I begin talking to you in bed. Your answers are brief, and our only conversations are about diapers or house errands.”
There are nights that he wants you so much but couldn’t find it in him to ask for you. He would watch you sleep and before he could register those images in his head, another kid goes crying. You may have your company to worry about, and he only has you. Waiting for you to come home, to ask you about your day, to take care of your needs--whatever it might be. And it’s easy to forget, that he needs you too. Emotionally, sexually.
Do you ever look at the end, and wondered about the beginning? To how it all began, to what was there before the blizzards come and swept away everything?
Taehyung is your partner, in sickness and in health. There are so many things that you’ve been through, together. The house that you live in, it wasn’t painted and had a lot of holes. The walls needed remodelling, and when the remodelling happens, they needed to be painted over. And he’s the one helping you to reach the top corners that you couldn’t. You both have sat on that floor, where the couches are now, talking about the dreams you wanted to have together. You rested your head on his shoulder, while leaning back on the wall, a mug of hot chocolate between your hands. His eyes sparkles at the thought of having children run around this house. Picture frames began to decorate the walls, couch was brought in, rugs, curtains were hung, television set, coffee table, dining table, dining table chairs, kitchen appliances. And slowly, the house was filled.
If loyalty was put to the test, Taehyung would have passed with flying colors.
A whiff of the detergent begins to fill the corners of the laundromat, and you slowly reached for his veiny arms, sliding down his wrist. You took those hand into both of yours, and pressed your lips on each knuckle, murmuring, “I’m so thankful to have you.”
Taehyung’s gaze softens at the sight of you, and he covered your hands with his own, squaring his shoulder at you, so you sit face to face with each other.
“Please tell me how I can make this better,” you looked at him with eyes brimming with tears, and the moment he saw it, he gathers your head into his chest, cradling them gently. Gradually, the simple hand holding turns into an embrace. “Spend more time at home, with me...and do what lovers do,” Taehyung’s eyes turn into crescents, his lips puckered. He comforted you with a kiss on the forehead.
“And I want that Jimin fired,” Taehyung darted. “I’ll keep my distance from him,” you persuaded.
“Deal.” Deal.
The trip to the laundry, was even more fulfilling than the nights before. Romance are rekindled and words are exchanged for the better. Communication is key.

Management Busted
I am the kind of person who lets a lot of things slide, but when I feel wronged I come down hard on those that wronged me. TL;DR at end.
To start with a little backstory, I was 16 years old and working at my first job at a major fast food chain. The restaurant was a franchise and the franchise owner, let’s call him Mike, owned multiple franchise locations across the city. Below him, there was the guy who dealt with the day-to-day operations of the locations, let’s call him Jeff. Now at my restaurant, there was the general manager who I will call Carmela, and multiple shift managers.
I worked there for only about 4 months before I secured a better job. I turned in my two-week notice directly to Carmela. I specifically stated a date in which my employment will end and had a short conversation with Carmela confirming the details. Come my final week, I was scheduled the day before the date I had listed on my notice. Carmela also went off on vacation that week and put a shift manager in charge of scheduling and keeping track of hours. When I showed up for work on my last day, I went to clock in and was unable to do so. Apparently, I was removed from the login system a day short of when I was supposed to be. No problem, I will just record my clock times manually and I worked my shift like normal while recording my clock times on a piece of receipt paper. At the end of my shift, I had the shift manager post the receipt paper on the cork board and he sent a message to Carmela to adjust my hours accordingly since I couldn’t clock that day. The total time I worked was around 5 hours. I took a picture of the receipt paper showing my hours posted on the cork board so I was sure I had proof that I was there.
Come payday, Jeff was there, and I personally turned my uniform into him and picked up my check. I have always kept a very accurate record of my hours and discovered that my paycheck was short the exact amount of time I worked on my last day. I immediately brought it to Jeff’s attention and gave him a rundown of what happened. He gave me his phone number to text him the whole situation and send him the picture I took so that he had it “written down”. He told me he was going to get it figured out and follow up with me. Over the course of a couple weeks I followed up multiple times with no response. I felt at this point the wait was getting ridiculous, so I got into contact with HR for the restaurants corporate operations. I was basically told that since I worked at a franchise there was nothing they could do and that I had to get in contact with the franchise owner directly. After failing to find contact information for Mike I decided to go to the labor board for help.
The labor board informed me that since they did not pay me in full for the hours worked, I was entitled to backpay of 8 hours every day they did not pay me up to 30 days. The labor board opened a case and immediately started attempting to contact the franchise owner to no avail. Eventually they sent a letter to the franchise owners home address directly and I received a call from Mike on a Friday asking me why the labor board is going after him. I gave him a complete rundown on everything that happened, and he told me that this was the first time he had heard about the situation. We arranged to meet at the restaurant a few days later. When we met, we had a very open conversation on my time there. I told him everything about issues that were arising with managers all the way to not being able to clock in on my last day. At this point, if the labor dispute went to court he would be looking at thousands of dollars in backpay due to how long it was taking to get it sorted out. We agreed to settle it for around $500. I felt on top of the world because my missing wages was only $45 or so.
I visited the restaurant a few weeks later and found out that since the case was settled, a lot of things changed. Come to find out, Carmela and Jeff were hiding the case from Mike by destroying the letters and not responding to the calls from the labor board. They also were preventing contact with Mike by removing his contact information from the break room and refusing to make it available to employees. Mike fixed all of that by permanently posting his information in the breakroom, and even set up a 1-800 number that he posted behind the registers so that if any customers had complaints, they can submit a complaint to him directly. I’m not sure what happened with Jeff and Carmela, but I know the management was rearranged due to the issues I brought up with him in our conversation. Evidently, my new job was at a major drug-store chain that Carmela used as her pharmacy. A few months later while I was working Carmela came in and noticed I worked there. Shortly after, I found out from the pharmacy department that she started going to the pharmacy of another location.
TL;DR: I was missing 5 hours on my final paycheck. I went to the labor board and after bringing that and other management issues up the franchise owner, he completely overhauled his management structure.

For AMA - what is your idea of the perfect week?
Hi, Sarah! Thanks for sending this in. Weeknights are kind of dead in my timezones lately. I am going with the schedule we have currently because it's the most open of the entire year.
Sunday: Sleep in and cuddles with the hubby. Bigger breakfast with the kids. Writing and gaming day.
Monday: Get the kids ready for a beach day, we don't get out the door until 11 anyway. Lots of sun therapy. Grab a late lunch/ early supper on the way home. Husband takes the younger two to TKD and me and the oldest watch Sherlock.
Tuesday: Yardwork/ housework and the motivation to do them! Oldest has clarinet with one of my oldest friends and we catch up. I actually cook a meal that everyone eats.
Wednesday: I wake up ungodly early and work. I don't freak out on any of my co-workers because I am so tired and everyone I smiling. Kids actually have clothes on when I get home. More writing time before another night of TKD and my.late night cleaning shift. Which miraculously gets cancelled!
Thursday: Sleep!!! (Even though I don't need as much because my shift got cancelled.) Groceries since it's payday and I get something's prepped for the week. We have a campfire and I remember to log in to discord for my Cards Against Supernatural game.
Friday: I have my super fun short shift organizing the shipment at work. I call it my arms day. I get home before half the kids are up. We go to the zoo or a new park and have a picnic. Friday night board games while husband has his DnD time online.
Saturday: I open at work and nothing is left out or needs to be fixed right away. They stocked the ice. We can open like normal humans and not keep running back to prep what was forgotten. My husband makes lunch so I don't have to remember to bring some with me. Nap! We get to go out to dinner because dishes are dumb.
Look, it's simple stuff... Also now you know way too much about me.

Fallout 76: Chill
The newest Fallout 76 controversy, for those who don’t know yet, is that people are now raving because the Power Armor editions of the game didn’t have and item it claimed to have it. The Power Armor Edition of Fallout 76 is a special edition that included the deluxe version of the game, named the Tricentennial Edition, along with a glow-in-the-dark map of Appalachia, a bag of plastic figures cast in the forms of famous Fallout creatures and people, and - most importantly - a wearable T-51 Power Armor helmet with voice modulator and headlamp. This Power Armor helmet came with a West Tek canvas bag to carry it in, or use for your gym socks, whichever you prefer.
The current controversy is that Bethesda did not disclose a specific aspect about this special edition: the canvas bag was replaced with a nylon bag prior to launch. No customers were informed of this change and no disclaimers were given about the contents of the special edition being subject to change.
Understandably, people are upset. They were promised something great and given something crappy. As a buyer of the Defiance Collector’s Edition, purchased solely for the nice messenger bag, I understand why someone would buy a collector boxset or special edition for an item OTHER than the main affair. (The Defiance CE touted a Hellbug statue about 4″ tall, but that wasn’t the main attraction for me.)
However, if people were ACTUALLY upset over this issue wouldn’t we have heard about this the day these special editions started to work their way into eager hands? The outrage has only come in the wake of Fallout 76′s bad reviews and bad PR. It took players 18 days to come to terms with their outrage? Either that, or they’re capitalizing on an opportunity to claim some money back at the cost of Bethesda’s well-being.
Now, Bethesda fucked up - 100%. I’m not arguing that, because it would be foolish to try. The game is riddled with bugs, the customer support teams are being unprofessional and short with some people. If I’m being honest, Bethesda should have known this was coming when players expressed concerned in the BETA, but they did nothing. They released the game anyway and from the looks of things, based on their responses on Twitter, Reddit, Facebook, and other outlets, they are planning on fixing it in the future a la No Man’s Sky. In response, consumers are trying to SUE Bethesda.
Now, if the game is so bad then Bethesda SHOULD issue refunds. I agree with that. But, throwing them under the bus and trying to cripple the company you claim to love is stupid. It’s a level of entitlement this generation is infamous for. The game is broken and you deserve your money back, but trying to cripple the company and all those who work for it is ridiculous. I doubt the devs working on this had much of a say in how the timeline of release proceeded. I guarantee it wasn’t their call to release right now, but some higher up “suit” who just wanted the payday. It’s always a bad call, because more time makes a better game and a better game yields a higher payday with a longer sustain. But you can’t convince old-money CEOs that quality is better than quantity when they’re used to rolling devs over and shaking the loose change from their pockets before they dump them aside to move onto the next (looking at you, Telltale execs).
Personally, I “finished” the game. I’ve beat the “big bads” and cleared the main challenges. Mopping up completion points and min-maxing my character are all I have left until new content is added. I enjoyed myself, but only just-so. This isn’t the level of gameplay quality I expected. (Technically it’s on par with the Bethesda brand and all that comes with that relative to the Fallout and Elder Scrolls games.) I give it a 6/10 if I HAD to score it without much more context. And yet, I STILL contacted Bethesda and asked for compensation. I bought the game day 1. I was there when the gates opened and in spite of all the BS I stuck around. I watched the price drop by $25 7-days after release. I didn’t want my money back, but I wanted a little something extra so I asked for $20 in Atoms (which is the average sale value for Black Friday deals). They obliged. I’m Gucci.
People are claiming I’m a fool for taking what amounts to a pittance when a settlement could be on the horizon if the lawsuits go through. I don’t want them to give me money from a suit. I don’t want the company to die off from this. I want them to LEARN from this mistake and to do better in the future. I’m not an apologist. They fucked up and there’s no mistaking that. But without Bethesda Fallout and Elder Scrolls die. I’m not saying we should excuse shady practice or crappy delivery to preserve these franchises, but we should give them an opportunity to redeem themselves.
If you were affected I’m not asking you to not be mad. I’m just asking you to take a chill pill on your anger and see what develops. Bethesda may try to make it right. What constitutes “right” in your book might be different than mine, but keep some perspective on this and maintain your cool. All I’m sayin’.
