#fits into the chosen by another avatar

Four ways to become an Avatar:
1. Being chosen by an already existing Avatar: This is how majority of Avatars become Avatars, even Jon went down this path (that's right Mr. Sims, you're not special 😂 - I'm sure he's relieved about that).
2. Becoming an Avatar without connections - This one is harder an often involves a Leitner book. Often involves a search for power. Eventually these Avatars will get connections or meet another Avatar to help them along or they'll die fast.
3. Getting chosen by the Entity - Very very rare. Almost never happens. Entities are worse at communication than your toxic Ex.
4. Getting born FOR an Entity - The rarest one. You would think getting born the personified version of an Entity would come with lots of benefits (and it often does because these people are often more powerful than any other Avatar - Agnes and Peter), yet for some reason I think these guys are worst Avatars in general. 😭💀 It's not like they're bad at their job, they are very good at burning and making people lonely, but that's also the only thing they know how to do. 😭😭 Outside of their field they are lost (Agnes even had an identity crisis when she couldn't burn things anymore). I don't know how to explain it but they're really pathetic at manipulation as well. 😭🤣💔 They also seem to have an identity crisis when they get into complicated situationships.
TMA spoilers in the tags.

Tumblr media
the flora and fauna that surrounds you is what makes you think this–the mixes of pink, blue and green–must be heaven on earth. the fireflies that float about, sounds of kiri’s fascination as she occasionally lures one or two butterflies over your wandering eyes; the two of you laying side by side on the grass, staring ahead at the cocooning trees.
until a branch snapping cues the two of you to be on alert. you sit up, leaning partially to shield kiri as your hands fetch the dagger slotted by your ankle; kiri baring her fangs with a hand on your shoulder, squeezing it out of instinct.
the both of you visibly relax when–”couldn’t you just announce your presence like any normal being?” you scoff a laugh, putting your dagger away as kiri sighs, shaking her head, hand slipping from your shoulder, “lo’ak, where’s neteyam?”
“i’m here to ask y/n that.”
based on how lo’ak’s eyes lower to the ground, hands behind his back, it makes your heart clench at the implication. he’s gone... again. you glance to kiri, who nods, a silent and understanding of go, it’s okay. i’ll see you later. rising to your feet, you align your gazes with lo’ak, the younger boy offering you a small smile.
“you okay?”
he chuckles, nodding with gratitude; familiar to your warmth and care, “i’m not the one you should be checking up on,” he shakes his head, “not this time, at least.”
“again?” you warm up your ankles and shake your wrists, prepping your body for the way you’d need to climb because–”we can see everything from up here...” your voice comes out in a mere whisper, yet only one can hear you. neteyam circles his arm around your waist, leaning in close as he presses his forehead to the side of your face, “and yet, all i see is you.”–where you’re about to go is a place only you and neteyam know.
somewhere only we know–how foolish. how childish. how... safe and happy you two were at a location that provided you privacy to be whoever you wanted to be. there, you are only known as yourself and neteyam was only known to be neteyam. no labels. no warrior. nothing. just you and him. him and you. together.
“training didn’t go well today, that’s all i can say,” lo’ak mumbles under his breath. before he can get another coherent sentence out, he’s left breathless when you take off past the trees and soon he notices you’re climbing and swinging on the branches.
“be back by dinner!” kiri calls out, well-aware it would reach you despite it looking otherwise.
//
neteyam feels the wind brushing against his skin; calm, tranquil, the coos of the birds soaring above and the low murmurs of leaves clashing below. normally, his senses would be heightened at the sound of branches creaking but this... here–his safe place–is no ordinary place.
it’s one of the highest points that grants him the view of his home; his people. sometimes... once in a while, that gets suffocating. being the eldest, being the one who’s supposed to fit in the role-model mould... it got suffocating, overwhelming.
one day, you brought him here. past the groans and moaning of how much higher?! he’s grateful this became the place he frequented when things got hard to process; when it got hard to breathe. you were here with him, hand-in-hand, his head on your shoulder, arms hugging your waist; his safe place, his person.
here, he was not neteyam te suli tsyeyk’itan; he was just neteyam... and yours.
“you know,” your voice echoes into his ears, then his eyes are blessed with the sight of you climbing up the last branch to reach the one he’s sitting on, “if i knew this would be the place we’d come often, i would’ve chosen somewhere easier to access...”
“you’re such a baby,” he scoffs a laugh, rubbing his nose with the back of his hand, a quiet sniff entering your ears–he’s not crying.
“you’re the one to talk,” you quip back, just as you take your seat next to him. that gets him to quiet down and you’re half-regretting what you’ve said. “sorry... too soon?” you try to make up for it but he only shakes his head, moving to lean against you with a soft not soon enough...
his body grows towards you automatically. like you’re the source of light and he’s the receiver. taking in as much as he possibly can; for when things get heavy, for when things get dark. all he has to think about is his family and what’s at stake; you, you, you–all of you. his eyes flutter shut and he puts his arms around you, scooting you closer until one of your legs nearly go over his due to how close he’s pulling you.
you sigh and allow him to bury himself in your embrace. his face soon meeting your neck, arms tightening around your frame, tail lightly caressing your lower back out of habit. it reminds him that this is what home feels like; what home was meant to be. past the fighting and defending one’s honour, he was meant to be your lover.
you place a hand on his thigh, now noticing the marks of scratches that are on his skin. it doesn’t make him flinch when your fingers brush over it, but what makes him shudder is the way you turn your body so you can cocoon him in. one arm slithering around his shoulders, pulling him in and he inhales deeply against your pulse; your scent.
“you wanna talk about it?” you pry gently, lips to his temple.
initially, he shakes his head.
but a couple of gentle strokes to the back of his head, he relents. details of how strict his father was, the pressure to please and succeed, the role of the oldest sibling weighs heavy on his shoulders and... well... he may or may not have raised his voice back in retaliation for the first time in months. it was normal, even if he thinks otherwise. for every insecurity or dark thought he has, you’ve always combatted with the opposite he longs to be true (it is, he just stubbornly refuses to admit now).
“what if i’ll never live up to him?” good, you’re not supposed to be a copy of your father. you’re meant to be your own person.
“what if i can’t protect them?” as much as you feel responsible to protect everyone else, you should protect yourself first. that’s what your parents would want before you help others.
“what if i’m a failure?” now you’re just talking a load of nonsense.
then, it always, always end with: “thank you,” he lifts his head up, eyes closed as he leans his forehead against yours. his eyes gently open, the moment seemingly soft, serene, pure but you–”for nearly breaking a muscle climbing up to find you? i think i should start claiming a price to this.”
“you dense baboon,” he hisses. the tone of his voice only makes you laugh. giddily, knowing very well by the sound of his voice, it seems like you’ve breathed life back into his lungs.
“i mean, if you call me a dense baboon, what about you? you’re the one who–and i quote–will never love another–dense baboon.”
he gives up with a sigh, eyes fluttering back shut that it makes you give in. after all, he did have a bad day. might as well let him win.
“ah, okay, okay,” you coo, easing the hand that was once on his thigh, then crawling up on his neck, now reaching his cheek where you cup it tenderly. it beckons him to open his eyes, briefly, before it instinctively closes when he feels your breath over his lips; then, the fleeting moment of your kiss that makes his body tense and relax at the same time.
“just one?” he murmurs, a hand of his now meeting the nape of your neck to keep you there as he leans against you.
“how bad of a day did you have?”
“might need a few more to forget about it,”
“you do know this ends with me dragging you back to your father, right?”
“...then give me all the kisses now.”
//
maybe it was thirty minutes, maybe an hour, but all neteyam knows is that he’s calm and at ease as he walks along the path back home with you; his hand in yours, step by step mimicking one another. neteyam succumbed to your wishes of heading back, an hour or two before dinner would take place.
neteyam’s lost in the moment, merely following your hand dragging him like a compass.
it’s not until he nearly loses his footing by staring at you instead of where he’s walking. he tightens his hold on your hand, a soft gasp leaving his lips as you tug him up. it happens so fast; so sudden. his other hand now meets your waist for stability as you come face to face with him–so close he can count the lashes lining your eyes, the smile that twirls up on your lips.
“if you wanted another kiss, all you had to do was ask,”
he scoffs with the roll of his eyes but his hands, his body betrays him. it always does. always weak when it comes to you.
you let go of his hand to circle them behind his neck as he lures you towards him. one hand securing you by the hip, the other reaching up to pillow against your cheek as he lightly noses along yours.
“thank you,” he says, in a mere whisper.
“you said that earlier,” you try to joke, only to get ignored when he gazes into your eyes, making whatever thought you had in your mind fade away; replaced with just the one looking back at you. you lean into his touch as his thumb brushes the under of your eye and as cheesy as it sounds, you feel your heart swelling at such tender moment you two were sharing.
“for seeing me,” his voice blends with the gust of wind that envelopes the pair of you. his words, so seemingly simple but it held much more than that. for coming to me whenever you know something is wrong. for loving me; thank you for loving me.
“i’ll always see you,” i’ll always find you; love you.
he cracks a smile, “even when i’m way up too high in the trees?”
“especially then.”
//
((“i’m sorry, sir,” neteyam has his head lowered, “for how i acted, for the way i behaved. i will do better.”
he swallows, hands locked behind his back as he waits for a response. half-anticipating for a reprimanding, half-afraid of what’s to come. he peeks up at the lack of response, now noticing the soft look in his father’s eyes.
“good,” is all jake says, then motioning him away with the movement of his chin pointing to the side, “dismissed.”
neteyam swallows, as you gape; having stood by his side since the second you’ve dragged him back. neteyam glances to you, then back to his father who remains unmoving.
“d-dad–”
“dismissed,” jake repeats himself, now looking to you with a small nod. you’re able to give a smile, understanding jake’s intentions. he may look stern and he certainly in hell is strict, but he loves his family and it shows. you can see it in the way jake strives to protect those he loves and that comes with a price of being too harsh sometimes. it’s the mutual understanding you have that got jake to warm up just a bit to you (compared to how neytiri awed over the way she noticed her son adoring you).
it was your cue to bow in respect before you wrap your fingers on one of the wrists behind neteyam’s back to tug him away. he doesn’t object, already stumbling to follow you but just as he glances over his shoulder, he could’ve sworn he saw his father crack a smile before he turned his back.
//
”if i knew getting him to date someone would get him to return quicker, i’d thrown him off the edge earlier,” jake comments, snorting at his own remark as he tidies up the equipment. he lets out a soft augh when he feels a nudge to his head, knowing very well of who it might–”you promised you’d go easier on him.”
“i am!” he sighs, looking up to neytiri who has her hands on her hips, raising a brow, “i’ll... have a chat with him, down by the river later.”
she somehow raises her brow higher and he extends his arm out, pointing right at–”you sure we won’t fall?” neteyam squints his eyes at you, watching as you effortlessly hook your knees over the branch, dangling your body upside down with a grin, “do not tell me that the great warrior neteyam, son of jake sully is afraid?”
neteyam scoffs a laugh and threatens to bite your ankle when he grips onto it, only to yelp when you nudge him forward and he has to rely on his reflexes to follow your lead. when he’s securely hanging next to you, he’s able to smile widely at you, finding your hand on the branch between your bodies. it makes you laugh this time, tail lining up the side of his body as he swirls his along your legs. it was playful, childish... it was happiness.
neytiri’s eyes soften at the sight, a smile crawling to her face. she directs her gaze back to jake, who has this shit-eating-grin on his face.
“get to him before dark. i want a nice, peaceful dinner as a family tonight.”
“roger that.”))

Another avatar request. Imagine Jake as a yandere, and the reader admits to him that a few of the other woman in the clan are being cruel to her out of jealousy that she’s mated to him.
So he’s livid, goes off and “teaches them all a lesson”, and then comes home and is super sweet and comforting to the reader?
Love this idea!!!
No one will hurt you again (Jake Sully x fem! reader)
Content warnings: it has been proofread, English is not my first language, let’s pretend that Na’vi blood smells like human blood, okay?
General warnings: yandere behavior, reader being harassed, a little bit of violence if you squint.
Tumblr media
[ 3rd person POV ]
Y/n’s head hung low at the communal dinner. The Omatikayas sat in a circle eating as usual, but Jake knew something was up just by looking at his mate. Y/n was always cheerful, beaming at him the moment he stepped in a room.
But today was different and he would find out why.
“Y/n” he called her attention, she turned to him. She hummed listening to him. “What happened, my love?” He said, starting off sweet. Y/n sighed, looking at him. “Nothing, just forget about it”. Her tone soft and her eyes pleading.
Jake huffed in frustration. Later on, when they were all in their huts going to sleep, Jake cuddled Y/n and gave her affection for being away all day hunting. “Some women…” she started. Jake’s ears peaked in curiosity and satisfaction, he knew she couldn’t keep things from him. He hummed, his chest sending vibrations to her. “Some women weren’t nice to me at all” her voice cracked and he knew that something was up.
Jake turned her around, looking into her watering eyes. She refused to cry. “They pulled my tail and my braid, pushed me around and made fun of me. Some were saying that I shouldn’t have mated you at all because I was a good girl and you had demon blood and my children will be devil spawns. Some said I shouldn’t have mated you because I am not worth enough Toruk Makto” she started crying, hugging him. Jake’s eyes flashed with anger. While her head was hidden in the crook of his neck, his hands balled into fists and he even punched the wall of the Hometree out of rage. This startled the Na’vi woman. Looking at him with a sad face and tears streaming down her eyes.
“Shh, don’t cry, my love” Jake cooed at her, hugging her tighter and peppering kisses all over her face. “You are perfect for me in all ways possible” he carefully caressed her braid, reminding her that no one could break their bond, they had mated before Eywa. “Y/n, I wouldn’t have chosen you if I didn’t want you. But I want you, every piece of you. From the way you look at me early in the morning, the way your eyes look when I teach you things from my world. That beautiful body of yours” he continued to list all the things he liked about her. When he finished, she had stopped crying.
“They’ll learn that they should treat you right” he thought. The next morning, Jake woke up earlier that usual. Y/n was still sleeping. He went out, nearing a group of Na’vi women who were laughing. When he heard Y/n be named in the conversation and the way they talked about her, he knew what he had to do.
Y/n woke up and prepared herself to do her daily chores. She saw her mate, Jake Sully cleaning his hands from some strange liquid. Her nose filled with the smell of iron. She ran to his side. “MaJake are you okay?” She hollered. “Relax, baby, this is not mine”. A wicked smile was spreading on his lips. Y/n looked at him dumbfounded.
She hugged him, still not understanding the whole situation. Jake relaxed, he loved the way his body fitted with hers. The way their hands looked like they were made for each other. “No one will hurt you again, not as long as I am here” he stated, playing with her hair and holding her close.

The Painted Lady
Tumblr media
Air Bison, Sea Bison, and now Sludge Bison.
I have no idea how Aang is swimming through a solid. Must be an Avatar thing.
Tumblr media
I bet there would be time for more potty breaks if Sokka hadn't spent 100+ hours of their time drawing up the schedule. A very Sokka thing to do though.
Because hills often have horns. Great disguise.
You can't tell me that a factory that close to their town wouldn't also become the town's primary employer.
Tumblr media
That is a lot of town.
I sense a return of preachy Katara. This episode is going to suck.
I'm with Sokka on this one. Buy fish, move on, defeat Firelord, return to help with environmental remediation if time permits.
I like Doc. And Shu. Nice people.
Writers: if you have to make one of your characters an entirely different person to set up the episode's lesson of the week, maybe the lesson doesn't fit your chosen characters. This is the Warriors of Kyoshi all over again. Funny how that's happened to Sokka twice.
Tumblr media
We are all Sokka.
And where exactly did this mysterious painted lady get the food to deliver to the village, if the reason the Gaang stopped in the village in the first place was because they needed food?
Let the record show: I lost the last of my patience with this episode 8 minutes and 9 seconds in.
Tumblr media
Waterbending healing has never thrown off that much light before. Even the spirit oasis water wasn't that bright.
Also where is the water she's healing with? Usually she has a big bubble of it.
Impersonating a religious figure. That won't end badly.
"Well I hope she returns every night otherwise this place would go right back to the way it was." YES!!!!!! THAT'S THE POINT!!!!!
What was Katara's plan? Forget about the eclipse, forget about fighting the Fire Lord, we're going to stay here for the rest of our lives so that the painted lady can put in a nightly appearance. THIS IS WHY SOKKA DOES THE PLANNING.
Spirit magic is more doing the worm than doing the wave. Good to know.
Bold of a kids' show to advocate for ecoterrorism.
Aang's like "Hey spirit lady! Here's my resume! Here's my connections on LinkedIn!" Why did Katara think that faking being a spirit within two feet of the bridge to the spirit world would be consequence free? Actually that presupposes that Katara thought. Which she didn't. Sokka does her thinking.
"I don't get to meet many spirits. But the ones I do meet, not very attractive." I am OFFENDED on Yue's behalf. And Sokka's. I guess Aang doesn't like Water Tribe girls after all.
"I guess I just became her." No. That's an excuse and a deflection. I don't want to hear it.
What was I saying about Aang and Katara enabling each others' bad tendencies?
Sokka is horribly out of character this episode, but Aang is as well. In what universe would Aang be so unbothered by Appa being sick, and then so unbothered by the reveal that Katara had been faking Appa being sick? Like, this is Appa. He nearly skinned a bunch of sandbenders over the guy. And he finds out Katara's been messing with him and calls her 'great' and 'a secret hero.'
So this factory, despite being operational 24/7, has no night staff, not even a night guard? Because if it does (which it absolutely does - automation is a problem for factories in our world, not the ATLA one), Katara and Aang just killed A LOT of people.
And so she follows up one short term solution with another short term solution, which causes a third problem she will no doubt solve with a short term solution. You think there won't be reprisals for the only obvious suspects to this industrial sabotage? You think they won't rebuild the factory?
Sokka was kidding when he said that the Spirit Lady had better blow up the factory, but not in the way Katara thought he was kidding. Katara thought he wasn't being serious. But Sokka was serious, in that blowing up the factory is as short term a solution as appearing every night. He thought the joke - exchanging one bad solution for another - was obvious.
Tumblr media
Somebody's enjoying himself a little too much.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, serving as Exhibit A is the most Toph has had to do all episode.
Tumblr media
It is cathartic to see someone finally call Katara on her nonsense. But I'll bet everything I own that the narrative is going to side with her anyway.
Tumblr media
Welp. I won that bet.
"You need me." Correct! Katara unsupervised needs bailing out after five minutes. "And I will never turn my back on you." A much more realistic goal than never turning your back on anyone who needs you, and also Sokka summarised in one sentence. Impressive for an episode where they had to Flanderise him beyond recognition to make Katara somehow the good guy.
Oh for fuck's sake. It's not about having a heart. This late in the game it's pure damage control.
So that's where the Painted Lady's food came from. I guess Fire Nation factories count as pirates?
I like the jetskis. The seem far more stable than actual jetskis.
Tumblr media
It never occurred to Katara to obscure the evidence even a little bit? At least rub some dirt on the emblem. Look at me assuming Katara has thoughts.
Actual reprisals for once. About time.
Tumblr media
This kid is annoying.
Tumblr media
Toph gets to be a haunted house sound effects machine.
Tumblr media
That's awfully waterbendery for a Fire Nation spirit.
Tumblr media
I don't buy for a minute that anyone would be able to stay perfectly upright and balanced after an air blast from below without extensive trampoline training.
Tumblr media
This won't work. His superiors, or the next shift change, or the first recruit wanting to climb the ranks quickly, will rise to the challenge presented here by the "painted lady." And as soon as one FN attack goes unchallenged by the "painted lady," the village is toast. I give them a week, tops.
Kudos to some clever in-universe bending special effects. Doesn't save the episode though.
Katara's preachy speech here makes absolutely no sense in light of the rest of the episode. Scolding them for not saving themselves, when waiting around for someone to save them appears to have worked perfectly? And having little miss I-must-save-the-whole-world-on-a-weekly-basis-otherwise-my-sense-of-self-implodes deliver that scold?
Who are these people wearing the Gaang's skin?
Yeah, nothing screams undercover in enemy territory like an entire village knowing that you're a waterbender. Good thing the only competent tracker in the Fire Nation is Zuko, otherwise these kids will absolutely be dead long before the eclipse.
Tumblr media
Hi Bushi! You're about the only part of this episode that doesn't drive me nuts!
Tumblr media
At least the animators had fun with this one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Is this guy mopping the river?
Exactly how many days did they take out of Sokka's schedule to restore the ecosystem? I don't care how overlevelled these kids are at bending, you cannot mechanically separate an entire river's worth of dirt from water in an afternoon.
Tumblr media
Well that's just he piss icing on the shit cake, isn't it? It wasn't enough for Sokka to lose all reason and come around to Katara's very flawed way of thinking, it wasn't enough for Aang to call her a hero, it wasn't enough to have a village worshipping at her feet, Katara needs affirmations of how right and special and correct and perfect and morally justified she is from the spirit world itself. This is Mary Sue stuff.
Final Thoughts
This is the first time an episode of Avatar has felt like a waste of my time.
It's also the first time I've felt like an episode has gone out of its way to insult the audience.
Katara talking about how she knows what she's doing is wrong is worth absolutely nothing when a) she goes right back to doing it; and b) literally every other part of this episode trips over itself to assure Katara that she's in the right.
Katara is downright punchable this episode. Sokka is Flanderised; Toph is non-existent; Aang is just there; poor Appa is an unwitting accessory to crime; and Momo has as much impact as a housefly.
So the execs forgot about the existence of The Spirit World Part One and demanded a save the environment special episode. The writers responded by forgetting that they'd already established that Katara was ride or die for literally anyone with a pulse in Imprisoned, and gave us this to remind us of that fact. They also forgot that they'd already established that Katara has no moral code whatsoever the minute her personal interest is involved in The Waterbending Scroll, so they decided to recycle the "narrative sides with Katara endangering them all over Sokka being reasonable" plot from that episode and hope we wouldn't notice. We did.
At least with Imprisoned, Katara kind of sort of caused the problem that she fixed. She was super tangentially involved in that kid's arrest. Here, she causes problems by trying to fix problems that she didn't really have any business getting involved in.
The more of this I watched, the more I wanted someone to slap Katara. What I wouldn't give for an episode where she is wrong (has happened a lot) and the episode doesn't pretend otherwise (has never happened). For god's sake, LET HER BE WRONG AND FEEL IT. How else is she going to progress past being self-righteously fourteen? Why is she being so consistently insulated from consequences? Aang chooses power over family at the end of season two and gets actually murdered for it. Katara steals, lies, skirts dangerously close to being a false prophet and does a nifty little ecoterrorism (with Aang's help), and she gets villagers being a bit shouty before big brother comes in and fixes it. Then she gets divine sanction for her actions so even the shouty bit is negated.
There's an interesting contrast in Katara's "I will never turn my back on people who need me" and Sokka's "I will never turn my back on you." It shows which of the two doesn't have their head in the clouds, and has actually formulated realistic expectations of how much a single person can do. It also speaks to the fundamental difference in how they operate. Katara acts; Sokka mitigates. Sokka does Katara's thinking for her; Katara outsources her thinking and then gets pissed when rational thoughts don't conform to her emotions' view of the world.
Why haven't the villagers moved away? If the water was poisoning them this much, why are they still here? Was the early 2000s too early to have a theme of climate refugees? Or the pollution equivalent? That would have been more interesting than this.
I hated this. Why isn't this the episode that gets hated on like the Great Divide? Its sins are nothing compared to this.
Doc, Shu, and Bushi were the only good thing in this episode, but they weren't enough to make this one remotely rewatchable.
One out of Three so far on season three episode quality. No other season has had this bad a ratio this early. This does not bode well for the rest of this season.

Welcome to the Brackets of Fear!
Yes, it's time for another tumblr poll about TMA Fear Avatars -- with a twist. There will be no characters from The Magnus Archives. Instead, I ask that you submit your favorite characters from other media who you think would best serve as a manifestation of a Fear's power.
Rules for all polls
1. No real people.
2. No TMA characters, not even ones who serve Fears other than the one the bracket is for. We're going for a crossover here.
3. Feel free to submit as many characters as you’d like, but please do not submit the same one more than once.
4. Propaganda is allowed. However, please be sure to focus on the characters and NOT the source material, actors, authors, or fans. Propaganda violating this rule will not be posted.
FAQ
Q: "I think this character fits another entity better, can I submit them for that tournament when it comes up?"
A: If they went out in the first two rounds, they can be resubmitted. If they went out in round three, they can be resubmitted, but will likely take a penalty during consideration of the tournament's construction. Characters making it to the semifinal round or beyond will not be considered in future polls.
Q: "I think this character fits this entity's aesthetics, but I'm not sure how well they fit their meaning/I'm having trouble expressing why I think this character deserves to be in the tournament."
A: Check the relevant Entity's wiki page here and consider drawing parallels to events or avatars in the show itself.
Q: "Are submissions chosen based on how many times they were submitted?"
A: That's one factor. I also look at how well their description fits the actual entity and what I personally think would make for an interesting match-up.

Yin and Yang
Tumblr media
Balance is a key aspect in the world, so why shouldn’t the Avatar have an opposite?
In a world where Raava and Vaatu merge with humans, the Avatar and the Daimon try to keep the peace between the four nations.
Aang and Hua are the current incarnations, but wake up 100 years in the future.
How will these two learn all four elements in one year and defeat the Fire Lord?

Prologue
Tumblr media
In the beginning, they were two spirits.
One of light and order.
The other of darkness and chaos.
Raava and Vaatu.
Looked into eternal combat.
Never a winner, only a short victory over the other.
No one, not even themselves, could imagine to exist in harmony together.
Then one day two humans touched the spirit's very essence.
A young man named Wan earned Raava's trust and loyalty, while a young woman named Qi saw more than evil in Vaatu, showing him kindness and compassion.
The Spirits fused with their chosen human, creating the first Avatar and Daimon.
Wan and Qi worked all their life to restore balance in the world.
They were Yin and Yang personified.
When one pulled, the other pushed.
When one walked, the other followed.
When one lost their way, the other found them.
It was so simple to fall in love with each other.
The love born between Wan and Qi changed also the ancient spirits in them.
Something which seemed so impossible had come true.
No longer enemies, but allies, even friends.
In every lifetime after Wan and Qi, the Avatar and the Daimon were always the opposite of each other and often also lovers.
Each Avatar and Daimon together tried to bring balance between the Four Nations and the Spirit World.
It was their eternal quest, but they didn’t have to walk this way alone.
Because their other half would always be with them…
Tumblr media
Frowning Aang looked at his mentor and guardian Monk Gyatso.
“What is it Aang?”, the elder man asked his young charge. “I know you aren’t happy with being the Avatar, but I hoped that you would feel better to know that there is another one like you. Someone who will understand you.”
Aang just frowned deeper, crossing his arms.
“I don’t like that I already have a supposed Soul Mate…It seems like I don’t have any control anymore over my life…It sucks being the Avatar.”
Gyatso tutted him gently, rubbing affectionately his bald head with the blue arrow.
“Oh my young pupil, it may be true that nearly all Avatars and Daimons were a couple, but there were a few who were just friends and completely happy with other people. You can decide if you like young Daimon Hua this way. Meet her and become her friend, more the Elders doesn’t want from you.”
The young Avatar nearly snorted at this.
Yeah, right.
If it would go after the Elders he and the Daimon would be wed now.
At twelve years!
His childhood couldn’t end sooner for the Air Nomad elders.
He felt like crying.
He just wanted to play with his friends and goof off with Gyatso.
Was that too much?
Why did he have to be the Avatar?
“So her name is Hua, huh?”, he mumbled loudly enough, so his mentor could hear him. “Flower for an Earth Kingdom girl seems fitting. She is an Earthbender right?”
“Right, the Daimon Cyle is the opposite of the Avatar’s. Together you two will learn the four elements to become a fully realized Avatar and Daimon.”
The boy signed loudly and slouched down in his seat.
“I don’t think I will like someone who is my opposite, I mean, she probably doesn’t like to make jokes or play pranks.”
“Don’t be so sure Aang.”, said Gyatso amused. “You know opposites attract, but having things in common is good too. Just give her a chance, alright?”
***
In the Lower Ring of Ba Sing Se, the newly informed Daimon Hua hugs her mother, father and little brother tightly.
She wants to cry, to scream, to beg.
She wants to stay home.
She doesn’t want to be the Daimon.
All her life she and her family had struggled to make a living in Ba Sing Se.
Hua had used her Earthbending from a young age in any way to earn money for her family.
And now she would be stripped from them, brought before the Avatar of this era, and expected to work with him (even to fall in love with him!) and also to learn all the elements and somehow bring balance and peace to this world.
No, she doesn’t want to, but she knows it’s good for her family.
If in Ba Sing Se the Daimon or Avatar is born and comes from the Lower Rings their family then gets raised into the Upper Rings and becomes a noble family.
Something an Earth King some hundred years ago decided to make the city look good in the eyes of the other nations.
No peasant from Ba Sing Se should be a Daimon or Avatar.
Yes, her family wouldn’t be anymore, hungry, cold or sick. They would be getting taken care of.
Only Hua had to pay with her freedom, with the power to decide her own faith.
It was unfair.
Why her?
She only ever wished for a simple good life.
She wasn’t greedy.
So why her?
Why her?
She kisses her brother's forehead, promising him to write as much as she can.
Somehow deep down Hua feels like this is the last time she will be with her family…

Water.
Earth.
Fire.
Air.
My grandmother used to tell me stories about the old days: a time of peace when the Avatar and the Daimon kept the balance between the Water Tribes, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation and Air Nomads.
But that all changed when the Fire Nation attacked.
Only the Avatar and the Daimon mastered all four elements; only they could stop the ruthless firebenders.
But when the world needed them most, they vanished.
A hundred years have passed, and the Fire Nation is nearing victory in the war.
Two years ago, my father and the men of my tribe journeyed to the Earth Kingdom to help fight against the Fire Nation, leaving me and my brother to look after our tribe.
Some people believe that the Avatar was never reborn into the Air Nomads and that the Daimon was never reborn into the Earth Kingdom and the cycles are broken, but I haven't lost hope.
I still believe that, somehow, the Avatar and the Daimon will return to save the world.

Picrew Masterpost
So uh... I use picrew a lot. Like, a lot a lot. Because of this I have a lot of funky picrews in my catalog, some are really popular some less so - figured I'd make a master list with as many as I physically can. I'll try to list pros and cons* for each picrew - unfortunately, due to the image limit I can't include examples** *pros and cons are my personal opinion, I am not trying to insult any picrew on this list nor am I saying my opinion is the be-all or end-all. I will not be commenting negatively on any art styles in my con list, I will simply focus on what it does well and what I think could be better **If you have a maker you think should be added send me an ask with the link and lmk it's for this post For the sake of actually browsing this post, we're gonna have sections. Under these sections will be all the picrews relating to it. The sections, in the order listed, are:

Lore: Priesthoods and Temples

-
An overview of temples and priesthoods in Faerûn as a whole.
Becoming a priest.
Different classes amongst the clergy: The four divine spellcaster classes, and sorcerers continue to annoy the people around them. No, you don't need to be a cleric to join the church.
Temples and Shrines: The various generic (mostly) universal functions of temples; homeless shelter, school, hospital, post office, bank, landlord...
Evil gods and why 99% of them are legal to worship.
And some other stuff.
-
While almost everybody in Faerûn has a patron deity they revere above all others, very few people chose a henotheistic approach to religion, these exceptions being fanatics and followers of more megalomanic gods like Cyric, Shar and Bane (and, strangely, followers of these gods tend to be fanatics...). And, of course, the clergies, who devote their lives to the service of their patron deity. Priests don't necessarily hold other deities in low esteem, but they generally do not actively worship them - following the full doctrine of one faith is a full time job. Trying to fit anymore in would run you into the ground.
Sometimes an individual serves more than one deity, which usually indicates that the two gods are allied and involves specific religions that are structured to support worship of multiple gods (for example the Three of Rashemen - Mystra, Mielikki and Chauntea worshipped as a trinity). Even then one may expect some "tug-of-war" to crop up between the gods involved.
Excommunicated clergy will often find themselves unable to join another faith, as other churches don't trust that their faith won't waver again. (This isn't a firm rule though, nor necessarily reflective of what the gods think, and many deities actively try and poach followers from their enemies (Selûne and Shar spring to mind))
Deities are aware of mortals who are compatible with their portfolio and will try to sway them into worshipping them, sending minor miracles and dream visions. Some who respond to these omens in ways that particularly click with the deity will continue to receive them, and the most devout will follow the road towards priesthood.
Deities cannot force a mortal into service and generally won't try; and a mortal of weak faith will find the deity as useless to them as they are to the god.
Those who feel called will generally reach out to a temple or local preacher. Some will undertake pilgrimages and vigils at holy sites for further guidance, and receive vivid visions or even have their deity manifest before them (a minor manifestation is much, much more likely than a full avatar). When joining a church, each one has its own way of testing, training and confirming their supplicants.
Some priests are singled out further, and are called by their deity to serve them directly as what is known (mechanically) as "specialty priests." Sometimes becoming one is simply a matter of the head of the temple taking notice of a prospective priest and putting them through the training, although it's up to the god to accept them or not. Every specialty priest receives blessings and powers unique to their deity, and their rank is known by a name unique to their faith (Corellon's specialty priests are the Feywardens, Selûne's are known as Silverstars, Bhaal's are the Deathstalkers, etc). (These are not the same as Chosen, though it's a similar thing.)
While clerics are the first form of clergy that springs to mind; paladins, druids and rangers are also "priest classes". On Toril all four classes must receive their spells from a patron deity, and paladins and rangers serve their gods as their secondary function.
Being a divine spellcaster is not a requirement to join the clergy - any class may be found in the ranks of a temple, although clerics and druids often hold the power due to their strong connection to the divine. Only those two classes can lead in ceremonies and rituals, due to the divine power they wield.
Divine spellcasters receive their spells by praying to their deity, and they pray for their spells at specific times of day, as decided by their religion and usually relevant to a time connected to that deity (Sharrans pray at night, for example). The spells are given to them, not chosen; whether a priest receives healing spells or a more warlike repertoire depends on what use the deity plans to put them to.
Sorcerers of the divine soul subclass (formerly known as a separate class known as the Favoured Soul) often pose some difficulty for the established hierarchy. They are holy, directly blessed by and possibly related to their deity, but due to the fact that their divine magic is innate rather than earned through study and service, such holy figures often question established dogma and hierarchy based on their own intuition - they are chosen ones after all, don't they know their god better than you who only knows them through interpretation of man made texts and vague omens?
All clergy are to do their best to be exemplars of their deity's teachings and values in their daily life (and reflects well upon that god to outsiders of the faith), and to serve that deity's goals to the best of their abilities. They are also charged with expanding their faith. Whenever an opportunity presents itself the priest must explain their faith and its teachings to the uninitiated, placing an emphasis on the benefits and rewards of following their god. Adventuring priests are usually on missionary work.
All priests must support their churches by tithing (typically 10%) of their earnings to its upkeep and goals.
Divine spellcasters must meet every requirement of their faith, or else they will cease receiving spells until they've made reparations. If they piss their deity off sufficiently they will be stripped of the power their god bestowed upon them and cease to be of their class - fallen paladins being the prime example of that (many of whom may turn to darker sources of power and become blackguards/oathbreakers). Evil deities, and some neutral ones, tend to kill their apostates.
While gods will accept worshippers of any race, non-humans and their pantheons frown upon their own people joining the clergy of human gods. The nonhuman clergies respond to their gods' disapproval, and demihuman priests of the Faerûnian pantheon may enjoy a negative reception ranging from cool disdain to full-on hostility amongst their own people. (There are exceptions where human gods have syncretised with other pantheons: Gond is known to the gnomes as Nebelun the Meddler, and halflings consider Tymora to be the human disguise of a halfling goddess called Shalamora; both are worshipped by them as gnome/halfling deities, but they are both comfortable enough amongst humans to worship them in their human aspects. Mielikki is known to the elves as the half-elven goddess Khalreshaar, and Sharess is known by her original elven aspect of Zandilar the dancer.)
-
Not every city will have a temple for each god with a full staff of clergy. Those temples that are available also serve as the permanent residence of the priests that serve there. More often the gods will be venerated in public locals shrines, as well as private household ones. Wealthier families may have their own private chapels.
Temples in the Realms usually hold services at least once very two days, if not daily. Sermons are the usual faire - news and gossip, carefully slanted to paint their deity in a good light (or their enemies in a bad one) and the importance of the creeds of the faith and its aims. At the end of the sermon the priests will generally bless the laypeople, while trying to motivate them to do things in service of the deity.
In rural areas temples provide charity to their community - offering food and shelter to the disabled, the desperate, the poor and the homeless. Those seeking sanctuary are to repay the church as they are able by assisting with chores around the temple. Temples also provide basic education to the local children, and are the typical source of schooling.
Temples operate under something of a Hippocratic oath, and should never refuse to treat the injured and sick brought to them. Still, priests may be reluctant if the patient brought to them is considered a monster (say, an illithid, orc or drow). They also tend to be hesitant to tend to clergy of other gods, and if possible will move them to the care of one of their own temples as soon as they can.
While every faith has its own niche it makes money off of, temple income tends to come from a variety of sources.
For a small fee and an offering to their god, one can receive a pardoning for their sins from a priest (although it seems that they will hear confession for free). Asking for healings, resurrections and blessings carries a fee. Having a church bless a wedding, journey, new business, burial, funeral or birth or whatever also costs money. Some shrines and temples do a side business in selling minor holy relics and good luck charms.
Some faiths basically run protection rackets: keep up with your regular offerings and our god won't ruin your life and/or kill you horribly and/or destroy everything you hold dear.
Information networks consisting of children who are paid to report back to the priests with what they see and hear are also common (although they wouldn't admit it, simply making some vague statement of their god's mysterious all-knowing ways.)
But the major sources of income for churches is the postal service, banks and land ownership.
Temples run courier services; if you take a message or package to a temple and give them the address the temple will pass it to the nearest temple in a chain, until it reaches the shrine or temple closest to the destination, where a priest will deliver it to the recipient. Priests are under divine oath to protect the parcel and the privacy of the people involved, and violating that promise will result in their deity withdrawing their favour and immediate excommunication.
Temples provide banking and money lending services, and will also keep objects safely in storage for a fee.
Clergy are also encouraged to invest their income into buying land and properties, bringing in money from the tenants. They are not allowed to discriminate against potential tenants based on faith - a Loviatan who owns a house cannot refuse to lend it to a woman on the basis that she's Ilmatari, and she cannot forbid that woman from carrying out her religious practices or using the house for religious purposes. Sometimes the temples come into possession of land when devout people leave it to them in their wills. Temples in general tend to own vast amounts of real estate within cities.
Churches often squabble amongst themselves for wealth and power (or to depose the faiths of enemy deities). Lay worshipers, for their part, mostly just watch from the side-lines and keep up their offerings for both - giving a better portion of their worship to whoever's doing best and switching sides when need be.
-
The phrase "necessary evil" applies quite firmly in Faerûnian religion - the gods are here to stay, they are powerful and prideful and there is nothing anybody can do. Rather than devolve the world into constant chaos trying to fight a war of good vs evil that will never end, governments tend to work out peace treaties.
...Besides, they can be quite useful friends to have, when you have to play politics! Like that time in Cormyr where nobles hired Malarites to "accidentally" unleash monsters onto a rival family's estate, and now the priests aren't allowed to unleash beasts without supervision and permission from the authorities. (Not to mention that many of them are followers of the darker gods.)
The average denizen of Toril is just resigned to this as a fact of life. Many of them sensationalise these religions, and gossip abounds about whatever must be going on behind those temple doors.
There are rules that many churches must follow:
They can't disrupt public peace or oppose the ruling class - temples are generally hidden from sight (usually underground) and shrines must also be out of public view. Worship cannot be done in public, and there may be laws forbidding the faithful from publicly declaring their religion. -
They must not oppose the government in any way. -
Activities such as human sacrifice are to be kept as silent and out of the public eye as humanly possible, and performed under agreed upon limitations - generally that they must not harm "innocents, citizens, or government representatives." If you want to target criminals, adventurers or anybody nobody is particularly going to miss, however, knock yourself out. -
The church must also make itself useful to the local government and the realm as negotiated. -
Some governments may chose to monitor the activities of the clergies. -
They cannot force their faith on the unwilling - nobody is to be harmed in rituals or forced to convert (for example, as a Loviatan you may beat a man bloody in your goddess' honour as long as he has consented to it; should it turn out that you coerced him into it, through whatever methods, expect a backlash.) "No evil clergy anywhere in a well-ruled land or city would dare to use drugs, blackmail, or other coercion to gain converts or subjects for rituals."
People are wary of offending the gods, and nobody will insult even the most hated deity - but that doesn't mean that their holy status will keep the common priest from being executed under the law if caught doing something illegal. Many rival churches - especially those of good-aligned gods - will jump at the opportunity to put a careless priest in the spotlight. A priest who makes themselves unpopular within their own temple may find their own siblings in the faith directing law enforcement to their home. The most common result of getting caught rocking the boat is either for the church to excommunicate the priest, or else for that priest to suddenly, silently be removed from their post and reassigned by the church somewhere else outside of the jurisdiction of the realm with the promise that they will be disciplined. The latter happens "more often than the general public would be pleased to know".
Of course that's the common priest - the highest ranks in a church are powerful and well connected enough that they can generally get away with whatever the hell they like. Murder? Torture? Slavery? Go nuts.
By necessity, religions that operate based on fun rituals like theft and human sacrifice have to court the good will of the government to survive (usually while scheming to infiltrate the halls of power and change the laws in their own favour). They study the ways of their society, and learn to manipulate them to their ends.
"In public, the clergy of evil deities are models of good behavior. As such, although average citizens respect or fear and avoid said clergy, they will almost always not attack, deride, or dispute with them. Everyone in the Realms believes in all the gods, and so understands and accepts the purpose and major aims of every faith. This doesn’t mean everyone necessarily agrees with or supports every religion, but that they tolerate and understand the place in society each faith occupies."
Some faiths follow gods that actively promote the overthrow of established governments, which makes it difficult for them to function under such agreements (examples include Shar, Talos, Cyric and Tiamat). While they can establish themselves in areas of political unrest, they rarely become worthy of note in stable regions and are usually outlawed, mostly existing as underground cults preying on the desperate. They do tend to seek out people in positions of power to seduce and corrupt, however, and may wield some influence that way.
"Even priests of the most violently evil faiths are seldom foolish enough to draw daggers and seek to carve up soldiers or Crown agents in the streets. A dead foe is just that: dead, and soon to be replaced by another. An influenced foe, on the other hand, is well on the way to becoming an ally, increasing the sway of the deity."

Narrator: *For a moment, the brine-pool of your brain clears. To die: to rest, to save the world from yourself. To accept: to become his prophet - in any disobedience, subject to his lash.* Kyvir: This is not my purpose. I will choose my own path. Bhaal Avatar: You refuse me? Bhaal Avatar: You are my spawn. Your veins course with my unholy blood. Bhaal Avatar: Your life is mine. Accept your inheritance, or I will reclaim it. Kyvir: I'd rather die. Bhaal Avatar: You were made to conquer. To devour. Bhaal Avatar: You reject my blood, and so I will reclaim it. Bhaal Avatar: I will make another who is worthy.
Obsessed with Durge knowing that Bhaal will kill them if they say no. They don't actually have to ask what he'll do if they refuse (I didn't pick that dialogue option); they know he's going to kill them. There's such good fic potential in Durge walking into the fight with Orin knowing that if they win their only options are submission or death and choosing not to tell the others, whether to keep them from trying to talk them out of it or to keep the weight of knowing their friend is walking to their death off their shoulders.
Also obsessed with the thought of getting to rest coming before the thought of protecting the world from them when Durge is considering the option of dying instead of becoming Bhaal's Chosen again. I won't lie, that fits very well with the concept of Bhaal reviving them whenever they die; if they've died and been resurrected against their will enough times, the thought of a death that they can be reasonably sure Bhaal won't bring them back from probably would come as a relief. ...There's a lot to say about how easy it is to play Durge as at least somewhat suicidal, but that's a topic for another post. The second half of that statement where the narrator mentions being subject to Bhaal's lash in any disobedience has me wondering once again what Durge's life pre-amnesia was actually like. From what I understand of Blood in Baldur's Gate (still haven't gotten around to playing it) Durge there appears to be an unrepentantly gleeful serial killer, but if we assume that Durge here is getting a sense from their past it could be read as them not being quite as willing as they appeared to be. I find myself thinking about whether or not Durge has felt Bhaal's lash before. I'm thinking... probably.
I wonder how much of Bhaal killing Durge is an act of pure petty spite at their refusal and how much is him not being able to rip another part of himself out to create another like them. There's definitely an element of petty spite to it (that whole "Your life is mine" thing... sure is a thing, lots to unpack there) and he doesn't exactly seem to be cut up about it with how fast he goes about killing them, but it would be interesting if Bhaal also can't make another like Durge without reclaiming the part of himself he used to make them. I guess even a god only has so much gore to spare.

I've been in a Batfamily mood again, and now I wanna remake my Moon Knight x Batman crossover AU cause it has been rotting my brain since November and THIS was the only thing I have ever made for it, asjdksajdkla
(Based off of this post)
Some details, to let my Brainrot Out:
Listen, I know we all love adding our favorite characters into the Batfamily because that group ABSOLUTELY needs more trouble and unhinged behavior, but like. This isn't just adding another kid into the family. This is adding Marc, Steven, AND Jake.
Why does every crossover character have to be the youngest addition?? Why Not the OLDEST addition?? Revoke that Eldest Child License from Dick, imagine THIS: Marc would be around three years older than Dick, and while he would be Bruce's second ward, he would throw that shit around like the law. "Well, I'm older, so I get to pick the first character for Mario Party, and screw YOU, *I'M* choosing Peach!" type behavior
Dick: "Well, Bruce adopted me first so I was here before you, I get to play Peach!!"
Bruce is having a hard time figuring out how to go about this
Marc/Steve/Jake all adore Dick and would die for him. Killing is off of the table, unfortunately.
Everyone is supportive of Steven and Jake, treating Marc’s alters with respect! I love the idea of Bruce or Alfred giving them a journal so that they can keep up with which alter did what that day, and Dick giving them different colored bracelets so that they can tell which alter is fronting at the moment. The three of them actually having parental and sibling support, can I get a HELL YEAH!!
Marc/Steven/Jake being adopted by billionaire Bruce Wayne after running away from home and not having any upfront memories of how he got to Gotham, but knowing that he doesn’t want to go back to his abusive mom and his negligent dad. Emergency Custody is a hell of a drug!
I have no idea how stuff goes down until Jason gets taken in, so consider this instead: Jake and Jason arguing about the morality of killing. Steven and Jason reading together. Marc and Jason doing competitive training. Think about it. Let the thoughts infest you.
Marc and Jake: "I'm not doing free babysitting!"
Steven: "I will, though!"
Steven and Alfred bonding while cooking and Steve is infodumping about his current research project, doN'T TOUCH ME
Cass joins the family early too, because I say so. And Cass wouldn't need the bracelets to see who is fronting in that moment, she would KNOW, and she will either: pester Marc, love on Steven, or pester Jake.
Cass would adore Steven.
We don't talk about the big explosive Elephant in the Room just yet, nope, so instead consider this: Tim coming in and realizing that Moon Knight really is just Like That. Marc would say, "Another one?? Really??" Steve would say "This one is smart and adds onto my research and just spoke to me for 8 hours straight about arthropods, I have found my new real brother", Jake would say "He's a little stalking freak, I like him already"
Jake and Damian is a brotherly match made in hell. Watch the fuck out.
Just. Just Listen to me...just listen...why wouldn’t a morally grey vigilante by the name of Moon Knight NOT fit the bat motif???
Also, Marc/Steve/Jake would get the Moon Knight powers either as a meta-human with a connection to the Egyptian god, Avatars being able to be chosen at birth, or getting them super early through weird means! I think it'd be neat!
Thank you for listening, I hope I gave you Moon Son brainrot

Rectifier Devlog #1 (March)
Guess who's back, back again- devlogs are back, tell a friend!
Hey hey, it's Joy! I've been taking a break finally-mostly just streaming while waiting for Otome Jam 2024. I've known I was going to participate in Otome Jam since this time last year LOL. (I've had to keep it's existence as mostly a secret for an entire year, which was difficult since it's probably my favorite project I've ever worked on, and has a cast of the best characters like ever.)
THIS PROJECT- "Rectifier" has been a WILD ADVENTURE. Fitting since it's an epic high fantasy adventure dating sim, where you play as an alien angel with 3 different personalities, traveling with your SEVEN super distinct love interests.
Each guy is based off of one of 7 deadly sins. Which means they alone, and in a group are a handful.
I want to just talk about a handful of things about the project as a whole, and what you can expect if you are interested.
Tumblr media
For those that have played my most recent game "Lord of Lies" you won't feel so out of the loop. Though playing Lord of Lies before Rectifier is by no means a requirement. They just take place in the same universe. So the magic, world, and art is the same. Yes, same sprite artist! GET HYPED!
Rectifier is a special project as it is the exact dating sim I want to play. You step into the role of an Angel or more specifically a Nephelim, a celestial race of aliens who can shapeshift at will, have a great deal of magic at their disposal, and work to save humanity for themselves.
The project's mood is the most similar to "One Piece", "Avatar the Last Airbender", and many other action/adventures with a diverse cast of whacky characters- but if you could date them all.
The MC will have 2 appearances- masculine and feminine leaning, but you can be: she/her, he/him, or they/them.
What affects the game and your MC mostly is one of their 3 distinct personalities- Red, Green, and Blue respectively.
Red- dominant, confident, aggressive, and decisive.
Green- neutral, alien, observant, and intelligent.
Blue- submissive, diplomatic, understanding, and altruistic .
This personality system is one of the most unique aspects about Rectifier- you have 7 love interests and can romance them 3 different ways. So in a way, you've got 21 unique story experiences. Regardless of your choices/personality you can't get a bad end, and you and your chosen guy will fall in love in their own specific way.
Neat huh?
Although your choices don't lead to a bad end, that doesn't mean they don't have any impact in the story. Your personality/choices will affect specific story events, how characters react to and speak about you. Especially your love interest.
What's important to me was that players could sit down with the story and feel stress free. Though this doesn't mean the story won't have twists and turns.
Something special as well, is that no matter which love interest you choose, you still spend a huge amount of time with the other guys as they are your party members no matter what. Meaning you can get to know them again as friends. All the guys have complex relationships with one another, and maybe chemistry..? Who knows...hehe.
This is also the first project of Meant to Bee where I am working with multiple writers. This has been a wonderful decision as with such a large project, I worried I wouldn't be able to make each guy feel unique and interesting by myself lol. I will be writing one route all by myself. (Greed's route).
Regardless, I am creative director, lead writer, and programmer for this project- among many other things. I have a hand in every part of production, so it will still have my scent all over it...could have phrased that better LOL.
Tumblr media
It's important I note one thing. Our submission to otome jam will actually be a spin off game.
*record scratch*
WAIT WHAT?
Yeah, so... the project is quite large as you may have already guessed. I planned for a long time to release a huge demo showcasing the world and characters, covering the first couple chapters of each route, however...I didn't feel all that confident in that idea.
There's a lot of groundwork necessary for this project
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So suffice it to say, I felt OVERWHELMED. And if I someone whose been sitting with this project since it was a spark of an idea felt that way. I knew for a fact my audience would also feel that way.
I needed more time, and otome jam was only getting closer everyday. I thought about compressing it, cutting corners here, simplifying concepts I loved, etc... but none of it sat right with me.
I was at a loss, and even went into a period of burn out/creator's block as a result. I've loved and I mean, adored, worshiped this project since the moment I decided I wanted to work on it. (that's a story for a whole other devlog) It's the kind of project where I HAD to show it to friends, months before it was ever meant to be announced.
I worried I would be doing the story, my team, and myself a disservice if I released it feeling the way I was. So much behind the scenes work has been made for this game.
I didn't want to release it and it be info dump-y, take too long to get to the hot boys, or cut short before it gets into the meat of the story. You only get one chance to make a good first impression. I want my readers to be interested, invested, clawing for more.
The demo focuses on setting up a lot of LORE, which can be interesting if we have enough time to make it interesting. It has to be strategic, it needed more time.
But otome jam is the best chance for this project to gain the attention it deserves. I didn't want to miss the window. So I was caught between a rock and a hard place.
UNTIL- I had a eureka moment...a side game.
But Joy (I can hear you asking yourself) a side game for a game that doesn't exist???
Yes.
I know why people play dating sims- for the boyssss, sure an interesting story is great- but ultimately it is background dressing. The story will be deep and detailed, but that's for the main game to worry about balancing the rich story with dating sim mechanics and conventions.
The side game, just fun dating sim, with little hints to a bigger picture.
You'll meet our boys in media res. You'll be thrown into what the heart of the game is. If you like where you land, then I'm sure you'll love the demo when it's released at a later date.
The Rectifier main game is VERY MUCH still a priority for me. But for now, for my team and I's first ever otome jam we are going to have fun and show you what we've been working so hard on.
So let me reintroduce you to our newest project...
"Rectifier: In Bloom"
The game will center around you/the MC receiving a flower from all your love interests in their very specific way. (This is a very rough concept sketch, but by the time all the love interests are revealed we will have an itch page.)
Tumblr media
"Rectifier: In Bloom" will be a complete game! Each route will be anywhere from 5k-10k words, so you can get a good sense of each guy, and pursue them fully in the main game, as well as get a taste of the world, personality system, and feeling of the Rectifier world.
It's the best choice for my team and I to test the waters for both us and our player base. So I hope you'll enjoy this side game when it releases. We will make it so you can go in blind and still enjoy your time.
There's so many wonderful things I want to show. And I am so glad I am finally getting the chance to bring this story to life.
Please stay tuned for more, either here on itch, Twitter, and Tumblr!
I'll be yapping about this project from now until July 1st.
This is also the first monthly devlog for all things Rectifier related.

Long rant about how all signs point to Graydon being the Harbinger of the Wyrm. This is like really long, guys. So only read if you really wanna hear some Willow theories.
Using his flute on the sand boat wasnt the first time Graydon used magic
Its was at Nockmaar, when he force lifted Elora into the air and tried to banish her soul to the whatever dimension
I know that he was posessed by the Wyrm at this point,
But Ballentine and Airk never used magic when they were possessed.
So what makes Graydon different?
Well, I think its just another sign that he is the Harbinger.
I've may have before mentioned before about a theory I have, about how when the world is shaking as Graydon reads the pnkotic at the gate its because its to symbolize how he himself is the Harbinger in the poem. And to symbolize that the gang themselves are standing at a threshold.
And that later, at the end, when Graydon wakes up in the Wyrm dimension, it is directly mirroring the line at the end of the poem:
"We stand at the threshhold"
"We peer into the void"
"We bear witness to his glory"
"The Eternal One, the healer of worlds."
"As he stirs from his deathless slumber, deep below the surface,"
"The Harbinger of the Wyrm will come."
We, as the audience, think he dies when he is exploded or sent through the portal or whatever. When we see him wake up, it is like he is coming back alive.
Having been sent through a threshold into the void and then Awakening from a "deathless slumber".
He is greeted by the Wyrm, who has taken the form of Elora.
The Wyrm tells him that she needs him.
She needed her Harbinger.
The Crone kidnaps Airk because she thinks his Blood of the Six will mean he will be the strong magic conduit the Wyrm needs for the Harbinger.
But Airk never does any magic. The Blood of the Six meant nothing. The Crone got it wrong.
Because it was Graydon all along.
The Harbinger probably has some sort of prophesy about who he is going to be. Things to look out for that would indicate who is actually the Harbinger. Just like in the Willow movie, Elora Danan had prophecies about her being a goddess, her birthmark, and how she would destroy Bavmorda.
Im guessing the Gales knew to look for a Prince from a magic bloodline and figured Airk was the best fit.
This, of course, makes the assumption that Graydon comes from a magical bloodline.
Which I do think is hinted at with the mere fact that Graydon can read pnkotic, taught himself magic, and that when controlled by Wyrm, he could use strong magic without a wand.
Magic is in his blood or soul or something. If it isn't from the Hastur bloodline. Then it's because he is a chosen one like Elora, and is The Harbinger.
Elora, the Avatar Goddess of the World.
Graydon, Harbinger of the Wyrm.
And God!
Like, if this is the direction that the show is going. That is soo good. What? I mean.
What does this mean for the show? I cant believe Graydon will turn to the dark side. Not forever at least. So does that mean he would actually be the Harbinger of the Wyrm,
Not as in a Harbinger, or someone that fortells the coming of evil. But a Harbinger, which is someone who fortells the death of evil.
Also, Elora and Graydon fighting side by side, using Light and Dark magic together. Its like bringing balance to the force, or magic life blood of universe.
Cause the show keeps saying the universe needs to be in balance. And there's no balance in conquest. If Light defeats Dark, then the whole is cut in half. No longer balanced.
So maybe the wyrm is just put back into a deep sleep? Like he was thousands of years ago.
The dark isnt destroyed, just lain dormant. Waiting for when the hearts of men are once again corruptable.
Elora is a symbol of unification.
When societies are unified, taken care of, less evil things happen. People dont have to steal or lie or kill to survive. They can live happy in peace.
Unification isnt perfect. Eventually, anything can slip back into old ways and evil rises again.
Life is a cycle. A push and pull, balanced ying yang that goes on forever.
Or, at least thats an idealized view of the world. And certainly exists in many many stories.
And i think that'd be cool if thats what they are doing in Willow.
Anyways, I sound like that Charlie Kelly meme so Im gonna go now lol
Tumblr media
Me after I eat a weed gummi and think about Willow too much.

A very long time ago (2013), I started an avatar au where Hiccup was the next avatar (and prince of the fire nation, because dragons, no I wasn’t looking at his eye colour which would make him from the earth kingdom, instead, I followed the dragons because fire nation had dragons) and Jack was a waterbending ‘ice’ spirit who was born a non-bender but was chosen by the moon spirit after saving his sister’s life.
At first this was going to be a big ROTBTD-story, with many, many characters, but over the years a lot of things have changed (aka I began to see the beauty in HiJack and decided they should get together, as they didn’t in the original story)
I’m thinking of bringing back life to this au, though I should add a ’try’ somewhere in there!
Under the cut I will add the very first drawings I made of this au back in 2013!
Tumblr media
So Hiccup is the son of the fire lord, and also the next avatar born from the firenation. He has a dragon called toothless, and has been working hard to master all of the elements, except he's having a very hard time figuring out waterbending. When he moves to the south pole in search for another master, he meets Jack, who turns out to be invisible to everybody but him.
Tumblr media
Jack is a once-human spirit who becomes the avatar's next waterbending master - despite originally being born a non-bender. Jack has lived many years invisible to the human eye, until Hiccup finds him one day in a snow storm and mistakes him to be in danger. They become close friends very quickly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also started a comic, but quickly gave that up again. I don't have patience to make comics :(
Tumblr media
Also, this used to be the original gang; Heather the airbending nomad, Rapunzel the waterbending healer, Hiccup, Jack, and then Merida, the non-bending rebel. I'm not sure if I'm going to fit them into the story again, but I'll figure something out ^^

So, this is concerning and upsetting for me. For people who don't know, Hudson and Rex is aired in the US by a small cable network called UPtv, the same network that has a streaming service called Up Faith and Family. Religious based, as someone can surmise.
Now, I don't really have access to either of those services as I don't live in the US, but I do have access to Twitter and like to make a search about the show every once in a while (there's no need for more as there's not a very active fanbase). So, a few days ago, I noticed this tweet:
Tumblr media
The episode mentioned is "The Date Escape". For those who don't remember, it's about a prison break in a women's prison, two women escape. Those women are lovers and in the end a (Catholic? Definitely Christian) priest marries them in front of Charlie and Rex, with Charlie allowing them to proceed with the ceremony after he catches up with them. The subject also turns to the systemic abuse of inmates in the prison system, and patient negligence of the inmates. Something was telling me that this person did not "miss" that episode, but rather that it was skipped by UPtv.
I wanted to make sure that this was the episode (it's not the first time a network switches episode order) before writing about this but I didn't want to contact that person, I don't have a personal presence on Twitter, I only use it for work sometimes. Today, the same account wrote another tweet:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which means that truly was the episode that was skipped. It clearly offended a religious based network so much that they possibly never showed it and it seems like they're not planning to. I have also checked their UPtv and Up Faith and Family accounts on Twitter and Instagram, and while they've promoted every single episode so far with sneak peeks, there is nothing for S05E07, which further proves that they simply pretended in never happened.
The same network is showing "Over Ice" in their streaming service only, with the following warning:
Tumblr media
Under the premise of drug use, they have chosen to show a warning that I can only view as transphobic. Also, I do not remember seeing any kind of drug use in the episode, only mentions of it. Granted, it's been a while since I watched it. This was actually an answer to a user who had complained that showing a trans person with no warning and "had caused massive problems in their house because their children were watching" and was ranting about the network "supporting homosexuality and the transgender movement".
UPtv and Up Faith and Family have chosen to censor Hudson and Rex and tailor it to their right wing transphobic and homophobic user base. It is ironic that the person who is now searching for this episode would probably agree with the network that it should be axed, if they found out (and it's the reason I chose not to show their avatar and username, sometimes you don't need to even take one look at someone's account).
I hope at some point Rogers and Shaftesbury will take notice of this. Hudson and Rex has always had plotlines here and there that do not abide with conservatism, so it does not fit in such a platform. I bet the money from licensing the rights in a country like the US is great but is it worth the censorship and the way they treat the show?

So… I recently discovered the Self-Aware Genshin AU? And now it’s just living in my head rent free. So, have this, I guess? Fair warning in advance? This is pretty much just word vomit. If there’s a coherent thought process down there, tell me when ya find it.
Tumblr media
✧Fandom; Genshin Impact
✧SAGAU (Self-Aware Genshin AU)
✧Characters; Gorou, Traveler (briefly), Kamisato Ayato (one appearance), Kamisato Ayaka (one appearance)
✧Pairing(s); Gorou × GN!Reader/Overseer
✧Warning(s)/Genre(s); Fluff
Tumblr media
“Oh my god, he’s so friggin’ cute. Look at his lil’ tail! WHY IS HE SO CUTE???” Sobbed a disembodied voice. Its suddenness made the general’s ear twitch.
They were rare occasions, but today was one of the days he accompanied the Traveler about Teyvat. It appeared the Overseer required his knowledge of Inazuman specialities. Far be it for him to question them! Even if they had their small party leaping (why they refused to just let them sprint was anyone’s guess), climbing and swimming all about Inazuma with little rhyme or reason from an outside perspective…
He was used to just being a supporting cast on these little jaunts, easily overpowered by the Traveler and their other companions. But the Overseer seemed to see fit that he led the group today. And so he leapt and glided across the Tatarasuna landscape with the party in tow.
As common knowledge as the Archons and the stars themselves, Gorou had known of the Overseer for years. It was through their guidance and will that simple mortals all the way up to the Archons themselves could attain heights yet unseen. They could also, supposedly, bestow their presence upon a chosen few; making them avatars of their will. Such a being more than earned the reverence with which they were spoken of. Up until several months ago, he would have never considered he’d be such a person.
But now here he stood at the Serpent’s Head with a drive for some unknown goal guiding his actions. It was strangely invigorating. If a little startling, as the Overseer only spoke on occasion despite their ever presentness. His cheeks flushed.
Perhaps it was just him, but the Overseer was quite… affectionate. They rarely called on him, sure, but that didn’t stop the deluge of praise that their voice would shower upon him whenever they blessed him with their will. Praise for the silkiness of his tail. Adoration for his voice. Desire expressed to touch his ears. The last one tended to get his hackles up. Purely out of reflex, of course, how could he deny the will of the Overseer?
And, though it may be selfish, he found himself hoping their overt affection was specific to him. Such a thought was appealing, his tail lowered and gradually stopped wagging, but he doubted it. After all, if the Overseer so favoured him, why would they have chosen the Traveler as the main conduit for their will? His ears lowered, eyes narrowing as his gaze was cast upon the golden haired figure sitting a short ways away from him now that their party had settled down for a brief break.
Certainly, the Traveler had a presence to them. Otherworldly. Powerful. Captivating in both aspects. But the Overseer had expressed such favour for him! So, why not him? Why not grace him with their presence more often? These thoughts and similar ones tended to plague him each time blue, purple and occasionally gold stars raced across the skies of Teyvat; signs of the Overseer’s fervent wishes.
Rapid-fire, phantom blips echoed in his mind. Blip. Blip. Ping. He’d shared his title of the “Ever-Victorious General” with the golden-haired outlander once upon a time. Unbidden, he began to reminisce out loud, reciting his part of the conversation quietly to himself. The Traveler had begun petting his ears before he could finish speaking in that initial discussion, cutting him off at the unwelcome but pleasant attention.
…odd. Was that another power of the Overseer? To bring forth one’s memories? No…! Why that one?! His ears and tail trembled at the thought. He found himself recalling that one quite often, especially on the days he was required by the Overseer. It had to be their doing, right? Was their something in that conversation they found intriguing? …or did they just enjoy teasing him?
“D’aww, Gorou’s so dang cute! I can’t! Ugh, I wanna pet him too! So, so badly!!!” again, the Overseer’s voice rang loud in his ears. The chuckles of the Traveler and the Kamisato siblings assured him that he wasn’t hearing things. He whimpered, ears pressing firmly against his scalp.
…but he didn’t dislike it. This was the Overseer! The overarching higher power of all Teyvat! Granter of powers beyond mortal capability! If it was them asking to pet him, snuggle him, dote on him as they were so clearly wont to do… he wouldn’t say no.

Welcome to the Leitner Tourney!
Following on from the polls determining which fictional characters would best serve the entities, it's time to determine what books would best serve as a manifestation of a Fear's power.
Link to Avatar Masterpost
Rules
Must have been published. I love fanfic a lot, but for the sake of simplicity and not getting hundreds of ABO fics for the Hunt poll, I'm going to have to veto it for this one. Fictional books are also out because a) they may already have associated magic that would give them an unfair advantage over their real-world competitors, and b) you can't actually read them.
Must be a book. I'm willing to be lenient on this front; graphic novels, magazines, short stories, pamphlets and academic journal articles are acceptable, provided they adhere to the other guidelines. Non-text-based media, such as films, music, or video games, are not.
Fiction or nonfiction are acceptable. Following on from the 'no real people' rule, I'm going to disallow biographies, autobiographies, diaries, journals, and memoirs.
Because I want to keep things fresh and avoid having the same people win every time, you may NOT submit the source material of a winning character for the Entity that they won -- e.g., Moby Dick would be an invalid Hunt submission, but would be permitted for the Vast. House of Leaves, being an overall tournament winner, is retired from all future tournaments.
The rules for all polls still apply
Please keep in mind the spoiler policy!
FAQ
Q: "I think this book fits another entity better, can I submit it for that tournament when it comes up?"
A: If it went out in the first two rounds, it can be resubmitted. If it went out in round three, it can be resubmitted, but will likely take a penalty during consideration of the tournament's construction. Books making it to the semifinal round or beyond will not be considered in future polls.
Q: "I think this book suits this entity's aesthetics, but I'm not sure how well it aligns with their meaning/I'm having trouble expressing why I think this book deserves to be in the tournament."
A: Check the relevant Entity's wiki page here and consider drawing parallels to events or Leitners in the show itself.
Q: "Are submissions chosen based on how many times they were submitted?"
A: That's one factor. I also look at how well their description fits the actual entity and what I personally think would make for an interesting match-up.
