#something is very obviously different about these two compared to my normal images on this blog. i acknowledge this #also the sv model is Really good. and since they always stare straight at the camera anyway… and no one pays attention to the background… #and the only high-quality phantump model i could find was so horribly shiny that its eyes were just white voids #in my defense‚ phantump always just stare straight at you in game #the lighting is different‚ yeah. that's probably the dead giveaway. beyond the background. but like. i'm the only being on the planet who #really likes phantump anyway. i feel like it's a generally forgettable pokémon to most folks #phantump #HELLO this one is a weird one. i have some explaining to do. so when i did this one i didn't know how to edit models really at all #and when i got the models for these‚ the xy models were super shiny. shiny to the point that it made their eyes fuckin invisible #and i decided that since you could barely tell it was phantump‚ i needed a different way to get these images #i remembered that in the SV dlc‚ every time you find a wild phantump‚ it just fucking. stares. at you. and i was like. aha #i kinda remembered because of the test stream that i did. tumblr user alligayytorr (am i getting the right amount of Ys) said #“haha i am getting a sneak peek” when i zoomed the camera in on a phantump. and i remembered that. and i was like. i can utilize this #and ended up using just an in-game screenshot of SV in replacement of the regular content. later on‚ after that #once we got into gen 7 and it became less and less reliable to find models‚ i had to learn how to edit them manually to remove the shine #i am a software dev. not a 3d modeler. this ended up coming down to editing the code of the models directly (which i ended up writing a #script to automate). now‚ today‚ january 22nd (the day of me writing these tags and updating this post)‚ i remembered this post was in the #queue and was not normal. so i went back‚ ran the script on the phantump and trevenant models‚ and unshinified them #then edited these two posts to be normal. i have left the original pictures i took under the cut for reference and as bonuses #because i really enjoy phantump. so that's why those images are there‚ and that's why these tags are here #just for posterity's sake‚ the folks who come here mostly for my commentary‚ i've left the ORIGINAL tags of the post when i initially #made it with the SV pictures up at the top (i wanted to rearrange them‚ but tumblr makes that Very difficult‚ so i left them as-is) #so if these tags are confusing to read i Apologize. but i hope now that you're at the bottom you understand what happened #i'm gonna go edit the trevenant post now

Hi, I have a question for you. what do you think is the relevance of Stiles asking Lydia to open her eyes in 5x16? I love, love, love that scene, but every time that I watch it, I wonder if it's a callback to or a parallel with some other scene...? in the end I always ascribe it to the fact that Lydia's eyes were so expressive and that Stydia would have unspoken conversations, but I can't make up my mind. what do you think? 🥹❤️

I’m nearing the end of a Teen Wolf rewatch, and your ask came the day after I saw 5x16 – so…great timing and great question!

I love this scene too. So much. It’s without a doubt one of the most iconic, most powerful moments—not just in Stydia history, but in all of TW (not that I’m biased or anything). Besides the fact that it’s Stiles and Lydia, and that the love between them is SO obvious, another thing that makes it so great is that it’s completely unparalleled. I can’t think of a scene before or after that even vaguely mirrors this one. And I’m hoping that’s more than just a stroke of luck, that the writers and showrunners knew nothing could ever come close to it. (Because we all know they love to draw parallels – which is great sometimes, and other times…let’s just say it can go very very wrong. But I digress…)

I think what makes your question extra insightful is that you’re getting at the heart of something much bigger -> Even though this scene is one of a kind, there’s a familiarity about it.

Maybe the reason for that is because it’s reflective of Stiles and Lydia’s entire relationship. All those times they anchored each other over the years—from the time Lydia came out of the woods in a fugue state, right where Stiles was standing and only snapping out of it when Stiles called out her name—to that tender moment when Stiles reflexively glances at Lydia as Deaton talks about emotional tethers—to the profound significance of Lydia breaking from a catatonic state on the day Stiles visits her in Eichen House, pleading with her to wake up.

What’s that saying the Stilinskis have? Once is an incident. Twice is a coincidence. Three times is a pattern. Stiles and Lydia pulling each other back is definitely a pattern. They’ve always shared an unspoken connection. Always been able to communicate with a look. Always been able to get through to each other—no matter the circumstances.

That’s why Stiles refuses to accept that Lydia is gone. He can still feel her, even when Scott can’t hear her heartbeat. He believes that if he can just get Lydia to open her eyes and look at him again, then everything will be all right.

And the way she responds with that awakening breath, looking to Stiles first and clutching his hand—her lifeline—knowing he brought her back… All I can say is, it’s a perfect combination of everything that makes Stiles and Lydia, Stydia.

i finally wrote an xword that i think might be nyt-submittable...i originally wrote it for the local paper though so i now have to go back through and rework the clues to take out the specific local ones and make some of the others harder. i know exactly which day of the week this would run in the nyt (if it gets accepted) because this type of theme always runs on the same day, so at least i know which clue difficulty to aim for, but i'm still finding it difficult to hit that precise level! i'm used to just making the clues as easy as possible because my local paper's audience is mostly people who aren't xword aficionados. i already reworked this puzzle a couple times based on feedback from friends and family but that was all still when i thought i'd be running it in my local paper. i kinda just want to be done with it but i've never had a theme and fill i thought were completely nyt-worthy before!

#i've been thinking that i would write a puzzle that was intended for the nyt from the beginning #but i never prioritize it because the local paper is actually expecting something from me and i have deadlines with them #so this might be the only way it ever actually happens #i feel kinda bad for the local paper that they don't even get my best work haha but also this theme would probably be too hard #for most of their audience (though let's face it probably all of my puzzles are too hard for various reasons) #aw shoot though i just reread the submission guidelines and they're specifically looking for themes OTHER THAN this type #hmmm #cruciverbs #i also wouldn't mind submitting this in collaboration with a more experienced constructor who could help me with the clues #and i imagine such people are always looking for greenhorn collaborators because it allows them to have >3 submissions #in the queue...but i don't even know how one goes about finding such people #if i submit it and they reject it no harm no foul EXCEPT that i don't know how long it would take them to get back to me #and if this isn't going to run in the nyt then i'd still like to run it in the local paper #but also maybe if they reject it they'll be like 'we don't want this but you seem to have promise so here's the email address of #one of our veteran constructors who would be willing to work with you on other ideas you may have' #i just made that up idk if they would actually do that haha but it seems plausible. and wouldn't it be nice? #i do have another nyt-specific idea that i've been spinning my wheels on for like two years #hmm hmm hmm. i think my best bet is still to rework these clues and submit it and see what happens #worst case scenario is they never get back to me. which is a distinct possibility given what happened with my #american xword puzzle tournament previous year solved puzzles (ie they never got back to me >:( ) #but that was will shortz. this is will shortz plus like 5 other people. he probably doesn't even see new submissions

I'm almost finished with this notebook with it's horrible paper, and I just finished the first page of my Big Project

#Oh yeah - it's all coming together #Hgggg I am so sick of this notebook! It's wack as fuck! #It has made editing a Chore for the past eight months >:0 Not fun or meditative At All #Even worse is that the paper feels good to draw on but the cleanup is just! Awful! #I've just been completely ignoring my non-lined homemade notebook because it feels bad to draw on lol #The rest of the doodles for this year - yes that's how far the queue is backlogged rn lol - are still on that paper #But at least I'm like ><this close to being done with it ugh #I've got two blank pages and then like three half-doodled on pages that I'm planning to just knock out #It looks so weird 'cause the pages are all out of order lol - the first page was in March and the last in November #But like the next page after the first is /also/ November lol #Like it's largely in chronological order but it jumps around quite a lot! It was an interesting experiment #I also think it's funny since the first page got some fandom stuff that didn't come back around until now but it Looks chronological lol #I think I'll do it again but with some modifications - if I run out of steam/interest/motivation then I can fill it in however I want #Keeping it on-theme is fun but I find myself pushing ideas when I don't actually have any :P That's no good #It's not Always bad - I like quite a few of my spacefiller ideas!
