Everything went as well as could be expected yesterday, Darlings. Both the kids, mama, and the grandma are all safe and together. The shitty ex is in custody and given what little I know, I doubt that's going to be changing for a very long time.
Unfortunately, as a few of you suspected would happen, things did end up taking considerably longer than expected yesterday, and I am currently feeling very mentally and emotionally drained. For now I think it would be best that I just try to recharge today, and get back to working on this tumblr tomorrow, when I'm not so quick to get overwhelmed.
Thank you for the understanding and support, Darling ones. I hope you're all doing well 🖤

I have some good news, and some bad news, Darlings.
Bad news, is that shit has kind of hit the fan again. Some of you might remember the whole situation with one of the families down the street, last week? Well the mum contacted me again a short while ago in a bit of a fluster and asked if I'd be willing to watch the kids for two hours while she deals with some legal stuff. I agreed, but as a result I'm not really going to have enough time to get any posts sorted today. I'm sorry.
The good news is that, as many of us were hoping, she is officially divorcing the fucker! And even better, he's earned himself an arrest too, after attempting to take a drunken swing at one of his toddlers for crying. An act which was caught on camera (As was the following horrific screaming fit he had following the attempt), and gave the mum a much needed wake up call.
Thankfully, he didn't actually manage to hit the kid in his drunken state, but several other incredibly worrying things did come to light in the process of him being arrested and forcefully removed from the house.
I can't give you all much more information as it IS now a legal matter, but needless to say, I would be very grateful for your understanding and patience about this.
Stay safe, Darling ones, and please be kind to each other 🖤

@octofly
It’s been quite a while, Darling, but from my best guess now, I’m pretty sure I based this prompt off of one of my friends from when I was much younger. There was a very large deaf community where I lived at the time, and due to their mutual use of sign language/alternative communication aids, there were also a lot of people who were hearing, but mute, who settled in the area too, and who I interacted with almost daily.
Unfortunately, whilst I am aware that the terms and definitions have probably evolved over the years, I’m not all too familiar with what those changes are, so I apologise if any of these terms appear offensive to any of my Darlings.
The friend I’m pretty sure I based this MC on, referred to themself as “a mute” more often than not, but on the occasions when they were actually describing their state, they would refer to it as “selective mutism”. Though there are obviously many different types, for them, this meant that they struggled to speak 90% of the time, but had no problem actually making sounds.
Honestly, they were almost always humming some random tune, or “chattering” with their hands (basically their version of mumbling or rambling to themself. It was really cute) Which is what inspired me to use a similar character for this prompt. (I think. It really has been a long time, and I’ve had a lot of friends who would classify as “mute” that have inspired other prompts)
I know this is probably a lot more detail than you were expecting for an answer, but despite that not being particularly happy part of my life, my interactions with those communities make up most of my rare good memories of that time period, so I tend to go a little overboard when they’re brought up. Sorry 😅
Either way, despite my over the top enthusiasm and explanation, there really is no hard and fast rule for how this prompt has to be continued. In the end, it’s up to whichever of you Darlings that decides to run with it, to choose how to write the characters.
I hope you managed to enjoy reading it despite is ambiguity 🖤
Few could say they’d ever caught a glimpse of the terrifying phantom that haunted the opera house, and even fewer had actually lived to tell the tale. The fact that you’d done both of those things, was a miracle in and of itself, especially considering the fact that you’d done far more than simply catch a glimpse of them.
You still remembered the look on their face when you had stumbled upon them, laying there in their own blood with their mask sitting just out of reach of their downed form. They’d seemed both terrified and resigned as you’d taken in the sight of their bared face and weakened body, no doubt expecting you to scream and have them captured when you realised who they were.
Their look of raw shock and confusion as you’d gently pressed their mask back onto their face instead, was forever burned into your mind.
Rather than condemning them, you’d helped them, carefully sneaking them down to your room and keeping them hidden as you nursed them slowly back to health. Your heart had ached at how they would flinch at your every touch, only to lean into them almost greedily moments later, their confusion at your continued kindness and gentleness, pulling at all of your heart strings.
You weren’t sure what you’d expected once they had finally healed, but you weren’t terribly surprised by how much it had hurt to come back and see them gone one day. After that, you’d figured they would simply stay away from you, perhaps ashamed that you’d seen them so weak and vulnerable, or maybe even angry that you knew so many of their secrets, even if you could never speak them like others could.
You definitely hadn’t expected to gain a protector from your actions, nor had you expected to start receiving gifts a week after they’d left your care.
Either way, coming back to these little signs of their continued presence, somehow became incredibly comforting to your lonely soul. The sight never failed to bring a smile to your lips, no matter how bad your day had been, or how much the people around you had shown their frustration at your continued silence.
Even if you couldn’t speak your thanks like others could, you had a feeling that they understood how grateful you were, thanks to the soft happy humming you would make as you went about the rest of the day, a new bounce in your step.
If their distant melodies later on that night, just so happened to include the happily hummed sounds you’d made much earlier that day… well…. that was nobodies business but your own.

Person A: “This isn’t going the way you planned, is it?”
Person B: “Nope, not in the slightest… It’s kind of thrilling actually! Though I could have done without the attempts on our lives.”

Oh I adore this idea! Fucking fantastic, Darling!
Person A: “…Is this really all there is to it?”
Person B: “What do you mean?”
Person A: “Everything has been an increasingly worsening struggle up until this point… So doesn’t it stand to reason that the final test should be something even harder than what we’ve already been through? This feels…”
Person B: “…Like a trap.”

Such a horrific betrayal!
Person A: “Don’t you think you’re taking this a little too far?”
Person B: ‘…Excuse me?!”
Person A: “Look, I don’t know what they did, but-”
Person B: “Exactly! You have no idea what they’ve done, and if you did, you’d think I was being a god damn saint for how I’m handling it! So keep your ignorant self-righteous bullshit to yourself and get the fuck out of my face!”

Perfectly understandable, Darling, thank you for taking the time to answer anyway. I'll check it out when I have the chance.
Person A: “I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many marriage proposals in one place before. I can’t even imagine how long it’s going to take to write a proper reply to every-! Wait! Wh-What the hell are you doing?!”
Person B: “Burning them.”
Person A: “You didn’t even open them all yet! How are you meant to answer them now?!”
Person B: “This is my answer.”

Aw~ Thank you, Darling one. I did actually continue this one in private and got a considerable few chapters deep before I lost motivation for it, but perhaps one day I’ll continue. Either way, I’m glad you enjoyed it 🥰
It had been innocent enough when you first started writing them. A friend had suggested you write letters to yourself, to try and work through and understand your own feelings. Only, writing to yourself had felt stupid.
With a dry smile, you had decided to write a letter as if you were writing to Dracula himself. The idea was amusing enough, and surprisingly, you were able to be genuine with your letter, though you still didn’t express too much of how you felt.
The next day, feeling a touch of childish whimsy, you took it with you on your walk, and put it in the mailbox in town. it had no address or return address, but you thought it amusing all the same. Until a reply showed up at your doorstep a few days later.
It unnerved you at first, that someone had not only replied, but somehow known where to reply too. They seemed to have taken great care to make it realistic too, the paper of both the envelope and letter itself, feeling expensive and thick, and the writing done in elegant cursive.
After a few days, you decided that the correspondence couldn’t hurt, and so you replied to the curious letter, explaining the reason for your first, and apologising. It took only two days for a reply to come, after you had mailed yours, the same way you had before. There was acceptance there, and a tentative offer for you to continue. And continue you did.
Before you knew it, you had been writing to your stranger for over a year. Your letters with the stranger (call me Vlad, my dear)  had become more personal, the two of you sharing things that you hadn’t really been able to voice before. It was nice to pretend that Vlad was real, and genuine with his stories and emotions. They chased away some of the darkness in your mind, and made you feel like you belonged, like you weren’t so lonely and detached from the world.
Not all good things could last however. Your home life was only getting worse, and despite being an adult and having a job, you knew there was few options for you, if you left.
You started to lag in your responses with Vlad, your comments becoming darker and shorter. Eventually he questioned you about it, and you admitted that things were getting worse, and that your mind was taking you to increasingly dark and dangerous places. You honestly weren’t sure how much longer you could hold on like this.
By the time his next reply came, you didn’t have it in you to check. You knew it was all a lie, something funny and amusing to pass two peoples time, but it had felt like more than that for a long time, and your foolish heart apparently didn’t know the difference either. Your replies had become prompt with each other over time, never taking more than two days to send to the other, but your mind and heart were too clouded, and your motivation had died. A few weeks passed, and the letter sat unopened still, as did two more that had arrived.
You were in the midst of a loud shouting match, or rather being shouted at, when there was a knock at the door. They cursed at you and stomped over to it, going to see who it was, while you stared blankly at the wall, tucking all the emotions away. You flinched as your name was shouted, and hesitantly made your way to the front door, wondering who the hell would be looking for you of all people.
Standing there, an umbrella held overhead to block the rain, was an incredibly tall and broad shouldered man. His pale skin stood out starkly against his expensive black suit and long black hair. Pulling his sunglasses down off his face, you found your eyes locking with the dark hellfire seeming to burn within his own. His expression softened slightly from the cold intimidating look he had held, and he gave you a small smile.
“Hello my dear….”

Motherfucker is terrifyingly fast 🖤
Eyes wide, you could only watch on in horror as the massive plume of volcanic ash rippled up into the sky, quickly beginning to blot out the sun as it grew larger and larger. Though your heart was pounding with fear, your legs refused to move, that same fear rendering them useless as you stood frozen to the spot.
Though even if you could… you weren’t sure running would do you any good.
Suddenly, you found yourself swept off of your feet, a startled yelp leaving you as you clung to the person who had abruptly picked you up. Wide eyed, you found yourself staring at your neighbour, their expression fierce and focused as they bolted through the streets, clutching you tightly in their arms.
Their presence and the fierce look in their unusual eyes, managed to finally shake you free of your fear fuelled stupor, your arms tightening around them as you desperately held on for dear life, confused as to where they had come from, as you were certain they were meant to be away on business for at least a couple more days.
It was at this point that you finally noticed just how fast they were moving, their unnatural speed making the world blur around you, even as the smoke and ash continued to grow larger and larger in the sky.
Several things clicked into place in your mind, as you remembered a number of the strange little quirks you’d noticed in your friend over the years, this new knowledge only serving to bring to life even more questions in your mind. For now however, you remained silent, desperately hoping that the two of you would survive long enough for this new knowledge to actually matter, your fear now focused not only on your own safety, but that of your dear friends as well.

Good luck, I hope you have fun with it, Darling 😘
You don’t know what it is about this tree that unsettles you and fills you with such dread. It looks just like any other tree in this ancient forest, it’s limbs twisted and gnarled, and branches covered in rich green moss.
Still, something about it makes your blood run cold and your hands grow clammy, your footsteps hastening each and every time you have to pass it.
Today however, that dread feels even more oppressive. Before you’ve even reached the corner that it sits on, a heavy weight settles in your chest, heart beginning to pound in hard painful beats as you grow nearer and nearer.
It only takes one glance for you to figure out why that is.
Perched amongst it’s twisted branches, is a figure unlike anyone you have ever seen. Even from a distance, you can tell they’re not human, their skin a pale grey not unlike those of the branches that surround them. Their pointed ears stand out starkly against their long inky black hair, the straight silky locks only emphasising their sharp features further and making them seem all the more predatory.
It’s when you finally look into their pale white eyes however, that your anxiously quickened pace suddenly grinds to a terrified stop.
Because their eyes are trained on you…
….And they do not look happy.

This feels like one of those "Monster Lovers Unite!" posts and I love it. Well done, Darling.
Person A: “You’re oddly unafraid for a human, most tend to be quite fearful of me, even in my…. tamer forms.”
Person B: “No offense darling, but I’ve seen and dated beings more terrifying than you. Even the form you’re in right now, is tame compared to some of my past suitors.”
Person A: “….And your current status?”
Person B: “Pardon?”
Person A: “Are you being courted by anyone now?”
Person B: “….No….Why?”

Person A: “I think we’re being followed.”
Person B: “Again? Don’t these people have anything better to do?”
Person A: “Apparently not… Should we lose them? Or should we give them the run around?”
Person B: “Hm… Let’s go with the latter and toy with them for a bit, it’s not like we have anything else to do today. We might as well waste their time and have a bit of fun in the process.”

Oh I 1000% agree on it being useful. What an excellent suggestion, Darling!
Anxiousness and excitement twirled together inside you as you made your way down the street. This would be your first day working at your dream job, and you were so worried that it wouldn’t work out. As you rounded the bend, the building came into view, standing tall and proud. It really was a massive and beautiful hospital.
The hospital itself was special, one of the first hospitals to make use of the abilities of supernatural beings, since the public integration with humanity eighteen years ago. It was a marvel of modern medicine, a perfect blend of supernatural and mundane. It even had it’s own research sector, devoted to learning more ways that the two could combine.
Supernatural beings brought so much more to the table now that they were free to be themselves with their abilities. There were vampires that could smell certain blood illnesses down to a specific strain, werewolves who could detect cancer or other illnesses that were difficult to catch early on. There were witches that could use complicated spell work to mend delicate places that normal operations couldn’t quite get to.
There were sirens that could put their powers to good use and put patients who were allergic to pain relief or sedation medications, in trance like states, so that they could rest. Immortals who had been around so long and learnt so many things, that they could provide insight into things long thought lost, opening up the way for many new breakthroughs now that they were able to share. And so so much more.
It was helpful for supernatural folk too. Vampires could take night shifts, and were given free blood once it had expired. Werewolves could stress less about loosing their job every time they had to call in sick on the full moon. Plus the simple freedom of being able to be out in the open, of being thanked and praised for their abilities and nature, rather than constantly cast as evil.
It had been your dream to work here since it first opened, and now here you were. You would be the first of your kind to work here, your unique abilities having caught the attention of the board when they came to light. They had been quick to snatch you up and offer you a position.
You just hoped that they would be pleased with what you had to offer with your particular skill set. Either way, you would do your best.

Thank you for taking the time to submit it, Darling one! I’m sorry it took so long to get posted 🖤
A soft smile graced your face as your feet touched the soft sand. You’d been to many beaches but none as… magical as this one. You almost skipped along the path, a picnic basket in hand, as you neared the ocean.
The water glittered, reflecting the light of the sun. Although it was a pretty sight, you couldn’t help but feel that something was wrong. The water seemed so shallow, but you couldn’t see a thing underneath it. The turquoise waves always blocking your view one way or another.
Unsettled, you set out your blanket, careful to keep an eye on the ocean. Although you’d packed plenty of delicious food, you seem to have lost your appetite. It’s unusual since it’s almost noon, but you leave your basket on the blanket having eaten nothing.
You step off the blanket and towards the water. The sun on your back seems to push you forward. As if the ocean is calling you, you step gently into the waves.
For a moment you consider stepping out again, grabbing your stuff and running as far away as you can. You push the thought from your mind as an inexplicable urge pulls you forward.
The water comes up to your knees. It’s chilly, but you don’t feel a bit cold. Another step. Another step. Another step. It’s a rhythm, a pattern. You walk until the water is up to your chest. the waves push you around but you can’t find the strength to move.
Before you realize it your pulled underwater. Instinctively, you close your eyes and hold your breath. When you crack one eye open seconds later, you find yourself surrounded by blood. But it can’t be your blood. Your not injured.
From the blood emerges a creature, her bottom half squid, top half human. Her hair is short and black, almost blending in with the water. She gestures for you to breath. You do, and find it just as easy as breathing air.
“I’m sorry.” She mutters quietly, her voice slightly distorted by the water. “I didn’t mean to pull you under. I just wanted to watch. But you came closer and closer.” She looks down, away from you.
In the moment of silence you admire her tentacles and the way the swirl around her. A couple begin to reach toward you, but are pulled back before they get too close.
“You were just so pretty.” She whispers. You look up to find her staring at you.
“So are you.” You respond. She’s pretty in her own way. Her face becomes very red, and her hair and tentacles change color to match the water around her, as if she’s trying to hide. “While I’m here… could you show me around?“
