mulian is sooooo complicated like god.... platonic or romantic whatever the case its just tragic how mu qing thought xie lian was too good for him like how could they ever actually be friends BUT at the same time he also didnt think the gap between them was fair or fitting of their actual skills and xie lian occupied this very specific place in society that mu qing was always so far away from no matter how hard he worked (as mortals) and yet even though mu qing KNEW that he wasnt actually that far below xie lian he still didnt think any of that or their entire relationship meant they could be friends.... They make out behind the boys’ cabins, and get splinters from fucking in the woods, and narrowly escape getting caught.

Being at camp isn’t great, especially when Xie Lian is starting to realize how much hatred flows beneath the honeyed words of the speakers, but neither he nor Hua Cheng want their time there to end.

On their last night, they sneak out and sleep together beneath the stars.

Things are rough for a little while after that. Xie Lian goes back to pretending he’s someone he’s not. He doesn’t know if Hua Cheng is safe.

But they find each other again. They always will. And if they’re a little battered from the years they’ve spent alone, they have each other now.

They have time and space to heal. They have a home in each other.

Volume 3 wraps up the bronze fish section of the plot and introduces the door beneath Changbai Mountain for the first time.

It has been adapted into a TV drama (The Lost Tomb 2: Explore with the Note, also known as Heavenly Palace in the Clouds and The Lost Tomb 2.5).

Summary - Volume 3

About ten years ago, Shunzi’s father led a group of mysterious people into the vast Changbai Mountain, broke into the vicious and inexplicable burial chamber of the underground palace, and found countless treasures of gold and silver. But, instead of leaving with all this wealth, they were trapped here and almost all died. Ten years later, Wu Xie, Shunzi, and their group  set foot in the Genting Temple. This is a thrilling adventure, featuring a Kunlun fetus, wall string, a hundred-foot dragon god, and other strange things have never seen before.

Is Genting Temple a mausoleum built by Wang Zanghai for King Wannu? The monster who appeared in the tomb on the bottom of the sea last time almost appeared in the Genting Temple. What is the strange connection between the two places?

Sanshu always appears at the most surprising time. The appearance of Sanshu means the final answer to the mystery, but these mysteries have to be traced back to fifty years ago, and the truth is far more than that.
