🖤💚 I loooove Donald and Duck. I love their playful back and forth, and I think for all his teasing, Donald is quite enamored with Duck's fussiness and practicality. It makes him an easy target for his teasing, but really it comes from him being in love and dumb about it. Duck is also the only one who can reign in Donald's temper, and get the two brothers to stop arguing. Mostly because Donald won't listen to anyone else.

My partner and I have a human au and in it Duck is the manager of a quaint little general store (the kind that sells organic and fancy stuff, some luxury goods and fresh produce marked up really high, that sort of thing), and next door is a hardware store manned by Donald and Douglas. They share a breakroom. Donald's favorite pass time is taking drinks and snacks from the general store without asking, and playing with rubber ducks and putting them around the store for Duck to find. Sometimes Duck will hear incessant quaking coming from the break room, and he'll charge in to yell at him only to stop short because Donald is smiling HUGE at him, turning to his brother to be like "See I tol' yoo Douggie I speak 'is language! That's 'is matin' call, that is." And Duck's shoots back with a "YOU OWE ME M O N E Y!" Don't worry. Duck will just go take it from the cash register in the hardware store later. With a little note detailing all the things he knows he took.

(You know Donald would call him is quackeroo)

For all his teasing, Donald really loves him, and that scares him. Duck aspires to what he believes to be bigger and better things with his life, dreams he won't stop chasing. And that makes Donald scared he'll leave him behind. What's wrong with what they have now? Some would argue it's pretty good...

💚💙 This leads into my next ship, but it's really just an unrequited, quite surface-level thing; Duck and Edward. I won't say too much since it's in my fic, but Duck rather likes his old friend. And it makes him and James scowl at each other all the more. But of course, it's not to be. Edward cares for him, but not in the way Duck might want (or at least, THINKS he wants, or really DOESN'T). It's all very confusing when you don't even believe engines should or CAN love and what purpose does love have when you're MADE to work. There's the right way of doing things, and the wrong way...

💙💚 Another ship I dabble in is Gordon and Henry, though I'm not as mentally ill about them as I am with James and Edward. I like the complexity that comes with Henry having been designed as a bootleg Gresly to start, only to be totally overhauled, and WOW that must have been well and truly fucked. You would think there would be some mockery or resentment there, but Gordon doesn't hold it to him. Deep down, I think he had compassion for him that he couldn't really express because he's so fucking emotionally stunted and you gotta keep up appearances. And we see that compassion in It's Good to Be Gordon. He felt so awful to have made Henry feel worse that nothing else mattered.

I've been reading A New Way of Life, and I adore how the author characterizes their relationship. Being there for an anxious, panicky partner doesn't always have to be gentle and saccharine. Gordon grounds Henry in a way only HE can, not through words and coddling, but with a big, firm hand to squeeze and hold him. And that tells Henry he isn't alone. That he's got him. It pulls him back, and I really like that for them. Gordon is an anchor, and Henry needs a pretty big anchor.

So yeah, I like that for them! And I'm just as susceptible to big men being dumb and in love and finding solace where they might not find it anywhere else because big men have big problems or whatever.

💚🩵 this next ship is like, I mean, okay. It comes with a disclaimer. I really like Thomas and Percy, but NOT in the traditional romantic sense. I mean there's really not much romantic to me about it, but that's also why I think it's as sweet and funny as it is. They're best friends that trip each other up and fight over the Xbox, and they really wouldn't want to be with anyone else. Thomas can't even think of girls (who terrify him anyway) because he just wants to go hang out with Percy. I guess I see it as kind of crack ship, and that's why I love it. As humans they would hold hands and get so red and spooked over it that they never really do anything else WHEEZE. And as engines well, they spend all their time together, that's enough for them.

Most of what I like about them is in our human au, and it's insane. They're the worst. Percy waking up Thomas in the middle of the night because he doesn't sleep and he's looking for his vape. "Where's my vape Thomas, have you seen it, come on I think you're lying on it roll over. Sorry! Thomas. Thomas where's your vape can I use your vape what flavour is it. Thomas-" (my partner is so fucking smart and funny for this)

I'm sure I'll come up with more as I go along. Like I really want to find someone for Emily, I like her as a headstrong Scot so very impatient and so very very right about everything bossing people around WHEEZE. She's the worst ❤️🥺🤩 but also really kind, and the only one practical enough to actually go talk to Toby when everyone was very happy to just believe he was being scrapped (even Edward which is SO funny and cute to me it kills me). I think she'd make someone very happy. I'm open to suggestions! Very susceptible to good marketing if you know what I mean 😏

I still need to watch Emily in the middle but I also think it would be so funny Donald and Douglas vying for her attention when it's really only Douglas that fancies her and Donald is just fucking stupid and getting in the way because he can and Douglas wants to throw him off the rails in frustration because why can't he just have this WHEEZE.

There was something to be said for being the youngest. Asmodeus had dozens of legions at his beck and call, of course; it came with his station, but there was… none of the responsibility. Hell, no one besides Azazel had ever taken on a lick of responsibility after their Father had been Caged: always Daddy’s favorite little general, begging and suckling on every little whisper through the bars he managed to hear, crowing and strutting along to the beat of a cold and distant drum. 

Asmodeus had been content to let Lucifer rot in there, if he was being perfectly honest with himself. After the Shedim, after he’d felt claws and feathers colder than absolute zero rip wounds so deep into his true form they showed on every damned vessel he took, he knew that the reason they’d all Fallen was gone and that all that was left in Lucifer’s head was mindless rage and hopeless love for the God who’d cast them all out.

Fine, then. He could have it his way, have his damn cake and eat it too, have his fun with his Knights and with pushing the envelope further and further until God wasn’t content with him being exiled from Heaven alone, anymore, until he had to be imprisoned in Hell. Just desserts, in Asmodeus’ mind, though of course he’d wept and fought with the rest of them. Ramiel and Dagon left, after that; good for them. Azazel took up Lucifer’s banner, and Asmodeus was content with what portion of Hell he’d carved out for himself, freed up for his experiments with grace and soul and blood and bone.

🥺 Is there a certain type of moment or common interaction between your characters that never fails to put you in your feels?

I love it when a character doesn't feel like they are deserving of something, and the other character helps to make them realize they are (and this can be romantic or platonic).

🎢 Which of your fics would you call your wildest ride?

I may have snorted when I first saw this question - "Good Things Cum in Threes" (Explicit) definitely comes to mind. Very wild rides here...*wink wink*

Absolutely. My main editor is a long time friend - shout out to @sugaredmayhem who edits almost anything that I send her way! I don't shy away from talking about it, but I also don't hand out my author name unless I'm sure the person reading won't make fun of my writing.

For Flufftober, starring Elijah Walker:

It definitely took Elijah a few minutes,  longer than he liked to admit.  The Uncle Logan that he had created in his head, had been influenced by all the stories that his dad, pops, and uncles had told him.

His dad slowly started telling him stories about his brother at bedtime.  And they were funny stories, about the trouble the two of them had gotten into while growing up, like the flour fight while making cookies with their mom or the fishing worm incident of the early 2000's.  Elijah made the mistake once about asking where Uncle Logan was…whether he was in heaven with Grandpa or if he was going to get to meet him soon, and his dad froze, and had to leave the room, but not before Elijah saw the tears in his dad's eyes.  

Pops called Uncle Nathan that night for backup, who finished his bedtime stories and tucked him in for the night, while Pops helped Dad.  Elijah didn't ask about Uncle Logan for a while after that, and his dad didn't share any more stories for a while either.

ddd!scourge’s powers: ice rays

since I had an ask that I partially answered yesterday about darktail and scourge, here’s scourge!

I feel like something blood-related is my go-to thought, but that feels to grimdark for the au (plus darktail and potentially frecklewish can already bloodbend) so I was looking through his wiki for ideas. I’ve only been back into the books for less than a year and I still haven’t reread the first two arcs since I was a kid, so it’s been awhile since I’ve read any scourge books! (also isn’t he only alive and on page for 1 main series book? an icon)

scourge’s image is tied to ice a lot, whether it’s his icy, uncaring gaze or his cold, unaffected demeanor. so I’m declaring scourge the Frozone of the ddd!au.

plus he has the one white paw — in life it was a cool quirk but now it’s the source of his freeze rays I guess lol

when scourge teams up with darktail (against bristlefrost’s group, tigerstar’s group, and mapleshade+emberdawn) they have a fun water-and-ice thing going!

So. I think Jason experiences bouts of cuteness aggression with his partner. Sure, he will also bite during sexy times, especially if you ask. (Jason loves being asked and being told that you want his touch and affection.) But honestly, I feel like many of Jason's bites aren't meant to be suggestive. He just sees his partner's bare skin, sees their thighs, arms, tummy, back, anything, and HAS to bite. He has to. He'll explode if he doesn't.

So he'll come home and you'll be innocently relaxing on the couch or cooking or on your computer, and then Jason's there. And he might startle you because sometimes, when he gets one track minded like this, he forgets to make noise and reverts to his typical stealth mode. Sometimes, it's like you're being hunted. In a good way. You're really into it. (I'm really into it.)

Anyway, point is, you're not doing much. You're existing. But Jason will see you and be overwhelmed by love and want. He'll feel a rush of tenderness over the fact that you feel safe around him, that you treat his home like your home, that you don't thrum with nervous energy upon his return. If anything, you get more relaxed. You're literally just sitting there and he'll get major heart eyes. He needs to show this swelling affection he has for you right. now.

How can he not bite?? Kissing isn't enough. Jason needs to drape himself over you. He gathers all your limbs and nuzzles your chest because he can, because you're his and he's yours. And then he bites your neck. Never hard enough to cause pain. Always gentle bites (unless you beg for him to go harder 😎).

He loves to bite and kiss and suck the fat of your thighs. LOVES it. Jason's not necessarily crazy about 'marking his partner' but if you want a hickey, he'll give you a hickey. He fully expects three in return. Half the fun in biting you is the fact that you'll always bite Jason back. And he loves being bitten.

It's not totally clear here why Dave's dream self appears to be already awake while his real self is also awake. I think we must infer that his dream self is in some sort of "waking trance" where he's technically awake but too preoccupied by certain things to be considered fully awake.

thinking about jade being lonely as hell on her island and going to sleep waking up on prospit and seeing john (not knowing his name yet) asleep plagued with the creepy dersite doll dreams with the scary teeth and just aughhhh

and she’d like overhear the white queen talk about the dark kingdom derse and the prince(sse)s of the moon that are there and trying to attract as little attention as possible jade would fly out there through the medium because shes so lonely. and she’d go to the purple moons’ towers. she’d find a girl is sound asleep in her purple robes and bed. but the other kid on the moon she finds is awake! except… not really. more like in a trance state. awake but not conscious. but she likes to hear whatever garbled stuff this triangle-speced boy has to say

the trip is long but jade visits this boy a few times since he’s the only non-asleep person like her she can interact with face to face. he usually seems lost in his own world, usually listening to music or talking to himself about stuff that doesnt make much sense. when she’s deprived of sapient affection she’ll touch him in small gestures like holding his hand while he listens to his music and he’ll squeeze back instinctually, and it helps her experience a microdose of the human connection. maybe he doesnt get much in the way of sapient affection either. when she hears The Horrors of the furthest ring another dream headset pops into existence for her to listen along with him and they listen to whatever music hes making. who is he

The ask I got about my ADHD Eda headcanon analysis got deleted, but I'm here to share it anyways.

Okay so. After Them's the Break Kid came out a lot of people started headcanoning Eda having ADHD and I actually REALLY like and agree with that headcanon. And not because

"Omg she got distracted by fire!!! 🤪"

But because of how we seen her when it comes to school. Now most fans assumed Eda hates studying and learning. Which is fair, since in I was a Teenage Abomination she made it clear she hates school.

HOWEVER, then you remember she literally made a hidden tunnel that can be used to listen to the different classes. Because remember, she WANTED to learn different types of magic.

A lot of her problems with school aren't because it involves learning, it's the school SYSTEM she has problem with.

And in the scene where Luz was teaching Eda and Lilith how to use glyphs, she was using a traditional teaching system with desks and everything. Lilith liked it but Eda did not.

This also led fans to believe that Lilith was just smarter and did better at studying.

But then in the opening of Them's the Break Kid we see the both of them studying. Lilith is using flashcards and assumes Eda is not paying attention because she's playing with her ball.

But it turns out Eda not only knows all the material but knows more than Lilith.

To ME this reads as Eda being a hands on learner, (and possibly even a form of stimming) she learns through action and movement and hates having to sit still to learn like how you're supposed to do in school. And when she's able to learn this way she's actually very smart.

That could also be the reason she acts out so much in school, especially if she already knows a lot of the material being taught.

In fact, this is actually kinda a parallel to Raine. With Raine they were introduced as being smart, and then in Them's the Breaks Kid we learn they are also very powerful with magic but are underestimated because they are a bard.

Meanwhile Eda was introduced as being the most powerful witch on the Boiling Isles. And THEN in Them's the Break Kid we learn she is ALSO very smart.

Which is also meant to be a surprise in universe by how Lilith reacted. She didn't expect Eda to be that knowledge on the subject, especially more that HER.

AND she gets distracted by fire. In conclusion, this girl is mentally ill but we already knew that.
