Backstory

The Durands were an ancient pureblood family from France that, held a significant impact among their peers. Begirded by myth, the Durands were said to possess the ability to understand and speak to dragons while said creatures would roam and guard their lands and fort.

Violette grew up in a rather loving and protected environment, away from the fort, in a smaller Chateau near it. Her father, the rightful heir to their myth-enshrouded estate, had rather left it in the hands of his brother, desiring a more conventional life for himself and his family. Although grown up away from the myths and legends, Violette was taught her family's lore and trained in all necessities before attending the Beauxbatons Academy of Magic where she would hone in on her natural affinity for alchemy/spagyric. She’d spend her summers bouncing back and forth between England and France.

In Violette's third year at Beauxbatons, her grandfather on her mother's side died under mysterious circumstances that have not been clarified to this day. Thereupon her parents decided to relocate to England to be closer to her now widowed grandmother, entailing a change of school for her and her sister.

Joining Deaglán on his adventures, Violette focused on her work as a freelance alchemist and potion-maker. Her workspace neatly hidden away in her suitcase, ready to take it with her wherever they'd go. She'd pair up and learn from fellow colleagues all around the world, sometimes exhibiting her art in small galleries in the cities they’d stay in. Slowly but surely making a name for herself in both fields.

They grew closer ever since and once they graduated from Hogwarts and went along their respective career paths, they wrote letters to each other and eventually reunited in Paris.

Julian Flamel @potionboy3 Violette and Julian met in class and would occasionally sit together and chat. They quickly bonded over their shared experience of moving to England from France and their mutual interest in Alchemy, soon becoming casual friends. When Violette went to Paris during their last summer holidays to prepare for her upcoming apprenticeship, she came to know that the Flamels claimed not to have any relatives named Julian. A little hurt about her unexpected finding, she questioned him upon returning to Hogwarts, asking him why he had lied. This caused a bigger argument between the two and a period of showing each other the cold shoulder. After a while and after coming to his senses, Julian finally reached out to Violette, inquiring about what she had heard … slowly starting to question his mother's story himself. After their reconciliation and their trust in each other growing, the two became close friends.

BIOGRAPHY

Charlotte Avery James was born in the small town of Rowena, Texas; best known for being the birthplace of 1930s bank robber Bonnie Parker. Charlie was always seen as different than the other children in her neighborhood. Born with Quad Spastic Cerebral Palsy, though a mild case for the time, Charlie couldn’t feel her legs whatsoever for the first three years of her life, and required a wheelchair to get around. Charlie was always determined to never let her disability dictate what she could, and could not do.

In her teenage years, she fell in love with wrestling after her stepfather asked her to tape an episode of RAW for him because he was too sick to watch it that night. After that night, she was hooked, and she made it her goal in life to one day be strong enough to get a trainer to take the chance on her, to allow her to step in the ring. She started to limit how much she relied on her wheelchair and soon learned how to be able to climb the stairs to her second-floor classes with assistance. She promised her mother that she would have a backup plan, so mixed in within her research of various training schools were books on nursing programs.

Just before the end of her senior year, her dreams of stepping into the ring would come to an end. She’d gone to see a doctor recommended by the owner of a training academy that had an interest in training someone like her, but the appointment didn’t go the way Charlie had hoped. She would never be medically cleared to wrestle due to the shunt in her brain. Brokenhearted, she threw herself into her nursing studies. She spent several years after earning her license working in the small clinic in her hometown while trying to find her way on to a wrestling company’s medical team, even sporadically.

In 2015 she told her parents she planned to move to London hoping to find new career opportunities and hoping that a change in scenery could help break the cycle of depression she’d been in since finding out she would never wrestle. However, that wasn’t entirely her plan. She wanted to leave Rowena behind so that her family wouldn’t have to find her after she committed suicide. After a few months of being unable to go through with her plan due to the guilt of the thought of leaving her brothers behind when they so heavily relied on her, the family moved the boys in with her so that she could continue to care for them. She still carries the guilt over her original plan with her even now

Not long after the boys moved in, Jordan convinced his sister to give her dream one last shot to see what might happen. She ended up arranging a meeting with the owners of PROGRESS and after pleading her case with them became a sporadic member of their crew. After a few months of proving herself, she became a full-time fixture backstage at every show.

She continued to work with PROGRESS until 2019, when Jordan confessed a desire to move back to the states, to move to New York to focus on his dream of becoming a composer. She considers her self the talent's medic, not a company's medic.

► Norman Bates

Norman Bates was a smart, quietly funny, handsome and sometimes shy young man with an intensely close bond with his mother, Norma Bates. At the start of the series, Norman is resistant to starting over in a new town, but changes his mind as he begins to spread his wings. Over the course of the series, he slowly transforms into the iconic character depicted in Robert Bloch's popular novel and Alfred Hitchcock's film adaption of that novel, Psycho.

Norman lived in Arizona with his parents, Norma and Sam Bates. Norman killed Sam after his father beat Norma, but didn't remember the event afterwards. Norma made it look like it was an accident, where a shelf fell on Sam, in order to protect Norman.

After Norman found his father's body crushed under a shelf in their garage, the two remaining Bates moved to White Pine Bay. There, they planned to start a new life and run an old motel together. Soon after their move, Norman was befriended by Bradley Martin and Emma Decody.

The former owner of the motel, Keith Summers, believed that the property was rightfully his, and after stalking Norma, he then raped her. While rapping Norman, Norman comes in and saves her, but Norma then killed Summers out of rage. Norman and Norma covered up Summers' death by dumping his body in a river, but were still suspected by the town's sheriff, Alex Romero.

One day, Dylan Massett showed up at Norma's doorstep, saying that he has no other place to stay. That night, Dylan got a call from Norma, who was programmed in his phone as "The Whore". Norman saw this, and confronted Dylan. A fight broke out between the two. Norman was easily overpowered by his older brother, who threatened to hurt him "bad" if he ever struck him again. Nevertheless, Norman grabbed a meat tenderizer and swung it at Dylan, who evaded it and gave Norman a black eye.

After spending the summer with his mother at the motel, Norman returned to school as a senior, but ran home after hallucinating Blaire Watson. Because of this, Norma decided to homeschool him. Dylan confronted her about letting Norman sleep in her bed, and, as a result, she set some boundaries which displeased him. She also decided to make him motel manager. Although Norman took an immediate interest in the motel's new guest, Annika, he decided to finally ask Emma out. That evening, Norma caught him spying on Annika showering through an open bathroom window. She berated him and he promised not to do it again. When Annika asked for directions into town, Norman offered to show her the way and while driving she told him about her work. He told her where to take a turn. Later, as Emma left the motel to return home, Norma arrived back with Annika's car but she was nowhere to be found.

Norma became curious when Annika failed to return home, especially after Norman had lied about not being with her and Emma stating otherwise. Norman and Emma went on their date and discussed sex as an important step into adulthood.

Norman awoke in a field, covered in cuts and arguing with "Mother". A farmer discovered him and knocked him out when Norman tried to attack him. Norman was transported to a psychiatric hospital with no idea of what he was doing there. A doctor informed Norman that she suspected Norman of being dangerous and wanted to keep him in for a 48-hour observation. However, Norma brought Norman home and while cutting his hair, Norman told her about the "dream" he had that she had killed Bradley. He made her promise not to send him back to the mental institution. Norma let him sleep in her bed but while she went out, he awoke to find himself locked in her room. Furious, he repeatedly banged on the door and managed to break through the door leading to his room. He put on Norma's nightgown and sat in front of the mirror, transforming into "Mother". When Audrey Decody called to the house, "Mother" answered the door and invited her in for tea. Audrey explained her situation and "Mother" asked her what kind of mother would abandon her own child before strangling her to death with her own scarf.

Picking up over two years after the end of Season 4, Norman was busy running the motel on his own while also having his own struggles with "Mother", who was upset that she could not go outside. He told her the new shower curtains looked great in the motel and that he was heading into town to buy more paint. While in the hardware store, he met a young married woman named Madeleine Loomis. When he found that he had a wallet belonging to another man, he said he would pay later for the paint and rushed home where he enquired from "Mother" about the mystery wallet which he knew nothing about. He also checked his diary which contained a list of things he did during the day as well as his blackouts.

When a young man showed up at the motel requesting a room, Norman said that he could book one for the night. After the man checked into the room, Norman went into the motel office, removed the painting and spied on the man having sex with an unknown person. It appeared that he was masturbating until a phone call from "Mother" told him dinner was ready. Over dinner, they argued about how things were going and she got angry when he revealed that he had met Madeleine. Later he attempted to leave the house, only to be stopped by a clearly jealous "Mother", who then dragged him down to the basement and showed him a dead male stuffed in the freezer. Through flashback, it was revealed that the man had showed up intending to kill Norman but "Mother" got to him first. They decided to dump the body in the lake but as they were doing so, the man's cellphone rang and when Norman answered it, Romero was on the end of the line asking for the man.

Norman is a bright young man and appears polite around others. He is also protective of Norma and feels guilty about disappointing her. He has lots of anger and occasionally lashes out at Norma or Dylan, but always comes to regret it due to his close and emotional bond with his mother. He also seems to feel a unhealthy sexual attraction to Norma.

Norman occasionally goes into a fugue state, during which time he attacks those who threaten Norma. He will then black out and not remember the event. For example, when Sam Bates beat Norma, Norman struck Sam in the head with a blender, but doesn't recall the ordeal. Norma made it look like a freak accident where a shelf fell on Sam. Another example is when Dylan Massett disrespected Norma. Norman tried to bludgeon him, but Dylan punched him. He didn't remember it and Dylan ended up telling him what happened. In the episode What's Wrong With Norman, while Norman is in bed, he sees a visual and auditory hallucination of Norma advising him to go search for Summers' belt at Deputy Shelby's house. While Norman really believes Norma told him to do so, Norma tells Norman in Trust Me that sometimes he imagines stuff that doesn't actually happen. In the episode The Man in Number 9, Norman is seen talking to himself as if in a dialogue after an argument with Bradley which is a sign of a psychotic episode. In the episode Midnight, Norman experienced a blackout between the time Miss Watson drove him to her home and he sees her undress herself inside her room and before the time he is running home from the rain. In addition, Norman had possession of Miss Watson's pearls but he doesn't remember acquiring it. All these evidence suggests that Norman is psychotic as he experiences many auditory and visual hallucinations and is unable to recall specific events beyond what is normal forgetfulness. In Norman's case, he does not remember his violent encounters almost immediately after they occur.

Cody drives Norman to Caleb's motel so they can beat him up. Norman recalls in his mind the time Norma confessed her brother used to force her into sex as a child. Norman then has a visual hallucination of Norma getting raped by Caleb. At the end of the episode, Norman heads to Caleb's place and takes full possession of Norma's character. In his Norma-mode, Norman accuses Caleb of raping him and says, “I was your little sister you should have protected me.” Norman's embodiment of his mother indicates that Norman possibly has Dissociative Identity Disorder as well.

Following his mother's death, half of Norman began to deny her death and after digging up her corpse he began to imagine "Mother" living with him in their own paradise, and as part of the delusion he saw her death as faked and that she had to live in isolation. Over the next two years the blackouts began to get out of control, as the episode Dark Paradise shows Norman looking through his diary in which he is recording the blackouts and they are getting far more frequent, to the point they happen at least once a week and for almost a whole day. The illusion of "Mother" starts to come into question when Norman is reminded by Dr. Edwards that he can see things that are not actually there. "Mother" eventually reveals to Norman that he indeed create her to combat horrible situations that he would otherwise be emotionally unequipped to confront by himself. It is later discovered that Norman had been hallucinating his meeting with Dr. Edwards when the later had reminded him about his hallucinations, since the doctor disappeared some time after Norma's death. By the time he confesses to Sam Loomis' murder, the "Mother" persona has completely taken over Norman.

Throughout the course of the series Norman has appeared to be very confused about the theme of sexuality. He has been seen sleeping with Cody Brennen, Bradley Martin and Blaire Watson, ultimately killing the latter two in his "Mother" persona. He also dated Emma Decody in order to make his mother jealous, although she advised him against sleeping with her which led to them splitting up. He spied on motel guest Annika Johnson while she was showering and confessed to Norma later on that he may have a sexual attraction to her.

Although he has never shown any physical attraction to members of the same sex, in the episode Shadow of a Doubt he attended a beach memorial where Cody's male friend attempted to touch his leg. When Cody told him that her friend was gay Norman insisted that he was not. However in the final season episode Dreams Die First, he was seen in a bar where all of the patrons appeared to know who he was and the bartender told him to take the drinking easy since things had been wild the night before. OK, the SciFi Series. I will tentatively call it “Loosely based on Stalker/Roadside Picnic/Dark” because it echoes elements of these books and series. (And Matthew was going to be the protagonist of a Roadside Picnic series that got canned). Names are tentative.

Matthew Goode as Rod. One of the best investigators to the apocalyptic events that led to the town be the way it is; dark and desolate. Hates that his younger brother got involved not out of jealousy but screwing his future.

Freddie Highmore as Teddy. Rod’s younger brother (born 10 years after Rod), a brilliant scientist and an apocalyptic investigator. Gets involved in legal and illegal investigation projects. He is a mutant due to radiations from the town to which he was exposed as a child. His brother’s child is also a mutant, which helps Teddy connect with his nibling.

Deepika Padukone as Geeta, Rod’s wife. Suffering from the mutations of her and Rod’s child caused by radiation, but overall she an Rod have a loving marriage. Worries about Rod and Teddy embarking in the apocalyptic investigations (there will be a lot of character development from here, but this is the start). She also deals with the hypocrisy of her father, who didn’t want her to marry Rod because of his past illegal investigations, while he himself has done them in the past.

William Zabka as Stanley. One of the first investigators, who has the most knowledge about the apocalyptic zones and events.

Annasophia Robb as Kate; Stanley’s daughter and Teddy’s girlfriend. Takes part of both legal and illegal investigations but only from the lab she works with Teddy at.

James Nesbitt as Dr McCarthy; Kate and Teddy’s professor and a supporter of Teddy’s dealings with the apocalyptic events.

Isabelle Fuhrman as Mila. Another competent investigator and a friend of Teddy and Kate. She also has mutations

Hill Harper as Dr Jackson. An advisor of Teddy as an investigator, who sees Teddy’s potential

(There’s Martin Donovan, Wentworth Miller, Amitabh Bachchan, and Ana de Armas, but I haven’t found decent GIFs from them for the mood)

General Appearance: Lighter brown hair, more prone toward the business-up front exterior of his father in dress, but smaller for his form

Personality: Tends to be unsure of his mother’s antics, finding himself more prone to put himself upfront in appearing like a serious grownup despite being young. But has a fun side around the right people (Kementari)

Special Talents: Due to his Morelli blood, he shows a propensity for light magic as well as a sense of empathy when desired. He’s also hella good at math.

Who they like better: Dallio, for sure, likely due to his propensity to stick around Stormwind after his promotion

Who they take after more: Likely dallio again, since mom is prone to dragging weirdness, and Lat’s done her best to keep the confusing elements of her ‘work’ out of Reginald’s life for as long as possible

Personal Head canon: Reginald decides to pursue more direct service within the Cathedral as an acolyte and eventually a priest, showing an empathic and knowledgeable basis. Reggie was not planned, but embraced nonetheless as part of the clan, especially considering the large size of Elia/Dallio’s clan over the years. He always felt awkward about it, but was embraced in the midst of it all.

The Good doctor : Why Shaun is breaking down and how Han is manipulating him to do so

Honestly, this whole scene is just so... good, in terms of writing and performance. When you look at it for the first time, you tend to think that Shaun is the emotional one and Han is the logical one. But the thing is, it’s more subtle than that.

Shaun is asserting a very logical thought. He already had to prove once that he’s fit to become a surgeon, especially to Melendez. Melendez basically told him “Prove me wrong” and Shaun did and Melendez finally accepted it and recognized that Shaun is good, very good at what he’s doing.

Shaun has studied social interaction and probably had a very precise script for what he was going to say to Han and how Han “should” answer to him. Shaun managed to save a patient when everyone else would have failed without his input and he proved that he could be calm enough to do that in less than two minutes and in a very stressful situation.

Based on his previous interactions with Melendez, Shaun thought that it would be natural that Han would accept him and put him back as a surgeon. But Han isn’t acting logically. You may think that he is, because he’s staying calm and composed throughout the whole exchange, but Han is putting on a facade.

He’s a very proud man and he’s not one to recognize that he’s in the wrong. Han is ableist and he isn’t willing to challenge his views. Shaun showed him that he was a valuable asset in the surgery team and Han is not able to accept that.

So, to stay in the right, he’s manipulating Shaun to get him to break down. You can see it very clearly, he’s almost smug when Shaun finally starts to scream because Han knows that he won. That he got what he wanted.

Shaun is basically emulating what Melendez, Lim and the others do to get what they want when they have to convince the board or Han or anyone else to agree to a dangerous procedure.

He’s starting by stating a very logical thought (”I saved the patient” => “I deserve to be a surgeon”). Then he’s being assertive, claiming that Han is making a mistake. But Shaun is not naturally assertive and his mask starts to fall apart very quickly. When he’s sitting down in front of Han, he’s already on the verge of breaking down. And Han knows it.

So, Han is belittling him, attacking him on his autistic traits and pretending to be an “ally” and to offer him a “chance” to get out of this situation, when he seems to be aware that Shaun is not willing to back up.

Presenting this very logical front, Han is the most “emotional” one, the one being irrational : he can’t fathom the idea of an autistic man being part of his team, so he’s ignoring Shaun’s accomplishments and is pushing him to his limits.

Shaun is presenting an “emotional” front, but he was being logical throughout the whole exchange : more than once, he proved that he deserves his place, that he’s willing to work for it constantly and that he will always try to get better at it. But Han is not logical and Shaun doesn’t know how to react to this.

He’s not heard and he’s trying so hard to get Han to understand his logic, to communicate what seems to be obvious to him. But Han is not willing to understand and is not willing to listen. Shaun breaks down, loses most of his words and even try to use nonverbal communication to get Han to finally listen to him, showing his badge and all to him.

Shaun is expressing himself logically and his emotions are getting the better of him when logic doesn’t work. Han is expressing himself irrationally, but his social skills are allowing him to pretend that he’s the reasonable one, that Shaun is immature and not fit for his job.

It resonated so much within me because it’s subtle, it’s painfully real and it’s something we all have/had to face as autistic people, one day or another. That, no matter what we do, no matter how logical we’re being, there are people in this world who already decided that it’s not enough. That we’re not enough.
