Thanks for requesting!!

bodyguard!marauders x fem!reader ♡ 979 words
You’re about to take a sip from your cup when your wrist is gripped by a strong hand, stopping it from reaching your mouth.
“You have no idea what’s in there.”
“Hi, Jamie,” you shoot him a smile, warm and loose all over from the drinks you’ve already had. “Sure I do. It’s a rum and coke. Pretty straightforward, actually.”
“He means,” Remus says, prying your fingers from around the cup and setting it on the bar, “that you probably weren’t watching to see if anyone slipped something into it, and unfortunately for you, we weren’t here to do it for you.”
You don’t have to look around to know Sirius will be here as well, your three bodyguards relentless and nearly impossible to shake. Still, you’re a bit proud you’d managed to get free for a little over an hour tonight. That’s not an easy task.
“No one here is going to drug me,” you say, though you know that’s not strictly true, and you go on before one of them can contradict you. “How’d you find me anyway?”
James gives you a deadpan look, the closest thing you ever get to anger from him. “If we told you, you’d just figure out how to get around it next time.” He sets a hand on your shoulder, pushing you gently away from the bar. “Come on, let’s go home.”
“I don’t want to go home,” you say, and despite your best intentions, your voice comes out with a petulant edge. “Why can’t we stay here?”
“You know very well you’re allowed to go out,” Remus says as he and James steer you towards the exit. “But we haven’t had time to look around this place, and you’re supposed to be studying at Kate’s.”
“So this is a punishment.” It’s not a question, but Sirius answers you anyway, draping an arm around your shoulders as you meet him by the door.
“Yes, it is,” he says lightly. “You almost killed Remus tonight, doll, and attempted murder deserves a time-out at the very least.”
Even whilst scolding you, Sirius’ voice is teasing. Between the three of them, you know he’s the least upset with you. He might be a bit frustrated, sure, but he seems to also harbor a tiny bit of respect or understanding for what he calls your ill-timed rebellious phase. Though to be fair, you’d never had much cause for rebellion before your mom had forced a security detail upon you. You were used to doing whatever you wanted, and what you wanted had never seemed so wild until one day you needed permission to go outside and your privacy was blown to smithereens.
You step out into the cool night air, and Sirius rubs your upper arm when you shiver. Remus leads you all towards the parking lot, and you’re secretly glad to be able to get into a warm car even if you’re still stubbornly yearning for the mundanity of the bus.
“I know you think of running off as trying to get back some sort of freedom,” James says, and his voice is gentler now if not quite friendly, “but it’s not going to feel like freedom if while you’re off by yourself one of your mom’s…critics,” he decides, using the most delicate term possible, “takes the opportunity to kidnap you.”
“Or kill you.” Remus says gruffly, his posture extra-stiff as he scans the parking lot, eyes skimming over every dark corner and potentially occupied vehicle.
“Their issue is with her, not me,” you sigh, somewhere between frustrated and resigned. “You should be protecting her.”
“She’s got her own detail,” Remus reminds you. “And it wouldn’t be the first time extremists have targeted a politician’s family to get at them.”
You’re silent at that, and the boys let you stew in it, the memory of your mother’s face when she’s gotten the news that her coworker’s son had been killed in their home. She’d grieved for her friend that day, but her panic had been for herself. For you.
“We’ve got to find a way around this need to escape, angel,” James says, opening the door to the backseat and offering you a hand in. You nod hello to Marcus, your mom’s driver, whose duties have apparently been extended to picking you up when you go “missing” for an hour or two. Sirius gets in on your other side, Remus taking the passenger seat. “Are we really so awful to be around?”
“No,” you say, though you know the question was meant in jest. They deserve to know anyway. “You guys are great. It’s your job that’s the problem.”
“Unfortunately, it’s still our job,” Remus says, turning around to fix you with a look. It works, and you shrink in your seat. Remus is such a kind, gentle soul, especially considering his profession, so when he focuses his disapproval like this, it always leaves you feeling thoroughly shamed. “Every time you slip off, we have to act as if you’ve been kidnapped, even if we know better. And you very well could be kidnapped. You just—” He shakes his head, and guilt sprouts, winding and thorny, in your gut. “—I don’t think you understand the danger you’re putting yourself in when you do this.”
You nod, forcing yourself to look him in the eye so he knows you’re really listening. “I’m sorry. I’ll…” you sigh, indignation eating at you even as you give in. “I’ll try to work with you guys more.”
“That’s all we’re asking, sweetheart,” James says, bumping your shoulder with his lightly, and you know you’re at least mostly forgiven.
“For tonight,” Sirius drawls, “are you going to actually stay in your room, or is one of us going to have to tie you to the bed?” He winks. “Because if you need me to, I can totally do that, dollface.”

rpc i think we need to have a little talk about misconceptions surrounding polyamory after the shit show last night
not all polyamorous relationships are open relationships. polyamorous is not a fancy word for 'free for all'. poly people can and do have closed relationships.
polyamory is not synonymous with religious polygamy. no one is mandating you into a polygamy unless youre in some kind of cult sect or a religious group that actively practices such things. consentual relationships between adults is a lot different from mandated polygamy brought on by religious or political authoritarianism. monogamy and polygamy both have been utilized to oppress and control people throughout history. non-consensual arranged monogamous marriages anyone? that shit still happens to this day.
polyamory is not a fancy word for 'lack of commitment'. if anything, it takes more commitment to support a romantic relationship with multiple people
polyamory is not inherently more abusive than monogamy. this is just straight up just not true from a statistics standpoint, polyamorous relationships are not any more abusive than monogamous relationships. and since there are just more monogamous relationships out there, the chances for abuse to occur in monogamous relationships is just simply higher. as the stigma against polyamory fades, more people are going to attempt it. just like how when theres more dogs, more people get bit by dogs -- doesnt suddenly make dogs evil (tho some people would argue that for some breeds). your relationship status or mode does not indicate how good or bad of a person you are.
polyamory is not cheating. as with any relationship, in order for it to be healthy, there must be boundaries and respect for your partner/s. people in both monogamous and polyamorous relationships cheat. cheating has nothing to do with your sexuality or your relationship preferences. no sexuality or relationship state inherently makes a person more likely to cheat. its like implying bisexual people are more likely to cheat because of their sexuality.
humans are not 'wired' for monogamy. this is bioessentialism. no one is arguing that monogamous relationships arent common among humans, but saying we are 'wired' to be monogamous implies that polyamory is somehow an unnatural state. which stinks of the same sort of bigotry of 'homosexuality isnt natural/humans are wired for heterosexuality'.
'i have nothing against polyamory, but i dont want it forced on me' is a dogwhistle for 'i dont want polyamorous people to exist in my general direction' and if you said that about any other group of people, it would obviously be a bigoted stance. 'i have nothing against gay people, but i dont want their gayness forced on me'. you see how fucked up that sounds? no one is holding a gun to your head saying you have to be in a polyamorous relationship.
the internet has made people forget how to mind their own business. it has also made people forget that just because something makes you personally uncomfortable doesnt mean you have to create some sort of moral justification for your hatred and fear. its a common tactic among troll and extremist political groups to prey upon people's discomfort and fear and turn it into hatred (kink at pride discourse anyone?). outrage culture is very real and 'alternative' or non-mainstream lifestyles and people have always been a target for this. it is nothing new, it is just the same old bigotry given a new fresh coat of paint. learn to sit with your discomfort, because its ultimately a you problem, not an everyone else's problem. people are not obligated to change or make themselves smaller to uphold your comfort. a boundary is not an ultimatum you place upon other people, its something you place upon yourself. people existing and living their lives is not forcing anything upon you.

'Why are women so distracted by men telling them to be more politically correct?'
Because men do not let women DO anything else.
Men want women to put our own shit on hold
so we can sit there and think about how we are white and/or straight
any discourse about SEXISM as a form of oppression goes out the window.
-
Men also want women to sit there and feel guilt over dozens of genders and sexualities that do not even exist.
'Have you thought about that privilege you are sitting on as a CISHET white woman? Have you thought about helping they/thems, aromatic and asexual people, and non-binary, agender, genderfluid, and trans people? Have you thought about helping demigender and poly-gender people? Have you thought about helping people with neo-pronouns? Have you thought about helping OTHER PEOPLE who menstruate and who have uteri? Have you thought about helping he/theys and she/theys? Have you thought about helping pansexual people?'
The source of male oppression of women is SEX.
'Women having discourse about periods and menopause, and their bodies, is GREEDY and SELFISH. Women are UNFAIR and MANIPULATIVE. Everything has always worked for them. Women are DISTRACTING from discourse we could be having about OTHER oppressed groups. CISHET white women are so privileged, they barely even experience oppression. There are SO MANY other oppressed groups of people out there who are in DANGER every day.'
One of the really disgusting aspects of this SHIT STORM is that trans ideology (a form of male extremism) socializes trans people
to make social media posts talking about 'deadnames' and how anyone who uses their REAL NAME and their REAL PRONOUNS must somehow be doing an act of violence
by not using their SEXIST make-believe names and pronouns.
'Don't call me by my deadname, please.'
It is so fucking disgusting that MEN have managed to socialize a group of people to carry out male extremism. You would think trans people would be more scared of having their bodies mutilated or of getting arrested.
Trans ideology does not help people; it turns women AND men into male extremists. Shit is dangerous.
Trans people do have feelings; trans ideology exploits their pain with love-bombing and coddling. Trans ideology puts trans people on a pedestal and tells them they are 'cute squishy adorable smol beans'; this language INFANTILIZES them and massages their egos.
Trans people believe they should be allowed to do anything they want, because now they're part of this amazing 'community' which 'protects' them and provides them 'safety'.
Trans people start to believe that people who 'oppose' their desires to do whatever the fuck they want, are bigots who are promoting genocide against them, and everyone in their 'community'.
This makes trans people angry, quite angry, as trans ideology promised them that they would feel mighty and powerful. Trans ideology promised trans people they would be coddled and love-bombed by everyone around them.
Trans people who do not blame trans ideology and detransition, blame the gender critical 'bigots'. 'Cishet' white women become Karens and TERFS.
Trans ideology socializes trans people, particularly trans women (men wearing dresses, cosmetics, and high heels), to believe people (particularly 'cishet' white women) who do not massage their egos are bigots.
Men are angry at women not coddling them, and not love-bombing them (as they have been socialized to think they NEED from women). Their anger, in an adrenalin rush, surges and somehow manifests into lashing out at WOMEN with genuine violence.
Now, this is what I do not understand.
I genuinely understand why trans people would be angry, but women are NOT TO BLAME for the damage trans ideology has done to them.
Women just want to live their lives. Women are not the ones who created trans ideaology. MEN did. Trans people's anger is not at women, but at the very ideology that MEN have been ENABLING.
Trans people do not say shit about MEN though, which is what makes their cuddly, sweet, adorable 'community' a form of male extremism. Trans people have been socialized by MEN; they blame WOMEN. Men wearing dresses, cosmetics, and high heels blame 'cishet' bigots and Karens and TERFs.
WOMEN did not do this to trans people. MEN did.
Trans people who detransition hold men accountable.
Trans people who do NOT detransition are asking people to enable their male extremism, and they should be arrested.
'What about gendering?'
Men who want to wear dresses, cosmetics, and high heels should take up their complaints with OTHER MEN, not with GENDER CRITICAL women. It is not the FAULT of gender critical women that men have socialized ONE ANOTHER to promote toxic masculinity.
Do not blame gender critical women; these are the women who want to HELP you and who are GOING OUT OF THEIR WAY to HELP YOU.

Amid a rise in anti-LGBTQ+ hate across the US, California reached a milestone in this year’s midterm elections: at least 10% of its lawmakers identify publicly as LGBTQ+, a figure believed to be a first for any legislature in the country.
With 12 current or soon-to-be members of the legislature identifying as LGBTQ+, the statehouse has roughly reached parity in sexual orientation and gender identity – 9.1% of Californians are LGBT, according to the US census.
The legislators, all Democrats, say that despite the wins, much work remains in California and the US, including the fallout from measures such as Florida’s “don’t say gay” law and laws blocking gender-affirming medical care for youths and limiting transgender students’ participation in sports.
The news came as the US mourns a shooting at a gay nightclub in Colorado that left five people dead. The suspect faces charges of murder and hate crimes. Democrats and advocates have pointed to rhetoric from Republicans that has demonized LGBTQ+ people, particularly drag queens, who have become a target for rightwing disinformation campaigns.
"When it comes to LGBTQ people, we’re on two tracks: one track is that societally we’re winning. People by and large are totally fine with LGBTQ people, they support us, they are accepting and willing to vote for LGBTQ candidates,” Scott Wiener, a California state senator and member of the LGBTQ caucus, said on Monday.
Yet, he said, “despite the fact that we are winning the battle in society at large, you have a very vocal, dangerous minority of extremists who are consistently attacking and demonizing our community”.
A record-setting year for LGBTQ+ victories
At least 519 out LGBTQ+ candidates won elected office in the US this year, in positions ranging from school board up to Congress and governor, said Albert Fujii, press secretary for the LGBTQ Victory Fund. In Colorado, Jared Polis, the first openly gay man elected as a state’s governor when he won in 2018, was re-elected.
That’s a record, well up from 2020, when 336 LGBTQ+ candidates won, according to the group, which along with Equality California calculated that California is the first state to pass the 10% threshold.
Of the 12 current or soon-to-be members of the California legislature, eight were already part of its LGBTQ caucus, including the leader of the senate and three other senators whose terms run until 2024. Four current assembly members won re-election, with two new assembly members and two new senators joining them, increasing the caucus’s ranks by 50%. The AP has not yet called one remaining race that could add an additional LGBTQ+ lawmaker.
New Hampshire and Vermont have each had more LGBTQ+ legislators, according to the institute, but have not reached the 10% threshold because their legislatures are bigger than California’s.
The 2022 midterms brought a number of firsts for LGBTQ+ people, including the election of Corey Jackson, the California legislature’s first gay Black man, who noted that African Americans, particularly Black trans people, are especially marginalized.
“I think this is an opportunity just to say that number one, we are here, we do have something to contribute and we can lead and represent with the best of them,” said Jackson, a school board member from Riverside county.
Meanwhile, in Alaska and South Dakota, residents elected their first out LGBTQ+ legislators, and Montana and Minnesota elected their first trans legislators, according to the Human Rights Campaign. In New Hampshire, the Democrat James Roesener, 26, became the first trans man elected to any US state legislature.
Roesener said he had opted to run in response to a state bill, which only narrowly failed, that would have required schools to notify parents of developments in their children’s gender identity and expression. Such requirements invade children’s privacy and can put them at risk of abuse at home, opponents say.
Leigh Finke, who was elected in Minnesota, also was driven by growing anti-transgender rhetoric. Finke hopes to ban so-called “conversion therapy” in Minnesota and, like California, make the state a sanctuary for children, and their parents, who can’t access gender-affirming healthcare elsewhere.
“I just thought, ‘This can’t stand.’ We have to have trans people in these rooms. If we are going to lose our rights, at least they have to look us in the eye when they do it,” she said.
Massachusetts and Oregon elected the nation’s first out lesbian governors. The newly elected LGBTQ+ officials are overwhelmingly Democrats, but in New York, the Republican George Santos, a gay man and supporter of Donald Trump, won a US House seat, defeating the Democrat Robert Zimmerman, who is gay.
Breakthroughs amid hostile rhetoric
The increase in LGBTQ+ lawmakers comes as some Republican-led states attempt to limit the influence, visibility and rights of LGBTQ+ people.
The Human Rights Campaign tracked what it identified as anti-LGTBQ+ bills introduced in 23 states this year and said they had become law in 13: Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Indiana, Kentucky, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah and Louisiana.
In Tennessee, a state with one LGTBQ+ lawmaker, leaders of the state’s Republican legislative supermajority said the first bill of the 2023 session would seek to ban gender-affirming care for minors. The state has already banned trans athletes from girls’ middle and high school sports and restricted which bathrooms trans students and employees can use.
By contrast, “as California’s Legislative LGBTQ Caucus has grown, the state has led the nation in passing groundbreaking legislation protecting LGBTQ+ civil rights”, said Samuel Garrett-Pate, an Equality California spokesperson.
Those include California’s sanctuary bill for transgender youths, which has been copied by Democratic lawmakers in other states, a 2019 expansion of access to HIV prevention medication, and laws granting foster children rights to gender-affirming care and allowing nonbinary gender markers on state identification.
Jackson said he found hope in the election returns not only in California, but also nationwide.
“We have US senators now, we have governors now, we actually have trans legislators now in this country,“ Jackson said. “So in the midst of stories of hatred and stories of demonization, you still see rainbows of hope throughout our nation.”

BASED i think its based asljsjds i love it. i already love when they extremists are best friends forever (my favorite) literally next logical step is to make them kiss. idk. i think every single one of them has an interesting dynamic with each of the others so they are like THE perfect poly ship in that sense.
theyre bitches they love and hate each other. they play games and watch movies together and it always devolves into the stupidest fucking arguments. they go grocery shopping together but they absolutely shouldnt. they visit the wackies or the anarchists or something and everyone else is like my fucking god get these bitches AWAY from us.....

SP - Adjusting target audience - ISTD
LO2
Due to the fact I am still exploring digital mediums and digital storytelling, my target audience will remain to be younger people (18-25) interested in conversations surrounding reparations and justice. Using digital media, and the fact the structure allows for individual decision-making also invites space for queer people to consume the product. Hopefully, the digital space as well as the self-expression of decision making will be attractive to queer audiences as a safe place to make decisions for themselves. In the work itself I will be adding themes of fear, violence, bad language and perhaps drug use to create unease in the audience and highlight the effects of oppression/being complicit in oppression. For these reasons, I believe my game will be rated 18+ using PEGI rating standards, so specifying that over 18s will be my primary audience is important.
I am changing the aspect of my audience that had a certain nostalgia for low-poly, PS1 aesthetics (31 - 35) as this will no longer be a prominent part of my product, moving more into a contemporary digital feel. Not to say that they couldn't enjoy the product but it is less targeted at their demographic.
One interesting point to raise is that male gamers have garnered a reputation for being more right-leaning. On community boards, a theory is that the audiences that can afford to buy and spend time on video games are straight, white, middle-class males who live in digital echo chambers. By not defining a rigid, or particularly pander to a specific, target audience, gamers may play games such as this in their spare time, potentially altering their viewpoints on systems of oppression that often stem from right-wing ideologies. It could be that using internet aesthetics could create a comfortable, familiar gameplay environment for gamers, enticing them even more into the game. I think that left-leaning people would pick up the game if they had learned the concept beforehand and understood the point the game is trying to communicate.
'Last week, a separate study from the University of Texas at Austin found unique links between gaming and sexism, racism and extremist ideologies. While this may not be news to anyone who’s heard the voice chat in an online game of Call of Duty, the study does trace a concerning overspill into real-world behaviour. This lends credibility to the existing idea that certain gaming communities help extremists to radicalise young people.
Typically, this issue has been primarily discussed in relation to young men, running adjacent to the gendered violence that runs rife within incel culture (though the UT Austin study examined a fairly even split of genders, reflecting the broad demographics of the gaming industry). More specifically, the study examines a psychological phenomenon known as “identity fusion” – in which individual members of a group experience a “visceral” sense of oneness with that group – in relation to gaming.' - Dazed

Having a conversation and was told I really couldn't have an opinion because I'm obviously a very privileged cis white heterosexual woman and seem to have conservative/traditional values as a housewife and parent. Like what? They then went as far to say they "know my type" and I probably grew up Christian and waited until marriage to have sex LOL. That I've probably never had any real struggles and I should probably just listen to people who know what they're talking about.
The conversation was about mental health and 'problems with society'.
I looked over at my boyfriend (who is fairly moderate/conservative) and we laughed and laughed.
So a little about me?
I grew up with a single father who worked his ass off to take care of me. I was in and out of hospitals for chronic illness (physical and mental) throughout my life. I didn't start receiving disability until I was in my 20s and a single mother - during my pregnancy I was homeless for several months after leaving an abusive relationship.
I grew up attending a variety of religious and spiritual services. My dad is really into Buddhism, we went to a lot of Unity and Unitarian services. I did go to Catholic school but it was pretty liberal. I attended a bunch of services with friends with a lot of different religious backgrounds. I consider myself spiritual sure, but don't live by any set of rules beyond be a good person.
I've been openly bisexual since highschool. I've been in a polyamorous relationship with my now husband for nearly a decade now. We have other partners and are active in the kink and poly communities. We have a great relationship. I'm dating some awesome people who are all very different.
Since I'm disabled, on the surface it sure seems like I'm a housewife. I mean I'm home a lot and and a mom. I volunteer for a suicide hotline.
Politically I do think pretty critically about extremist leftist narratives - just as much as I do against extreme right wing bs. Like religion I don't exactly prescribe to any one group or belief. Considering the circles I'm in (kink, poly, lgbt -esque means lots of leftist) I mostly don't share my thoughts.
Typically my opinion is along the lines of "I think the situation is a lot more nuanced than that." Usually not a strong disagreement.
While people 'on the right' or more right leaning/conservative thinking are willing to have a conversation when I have an opposing view - people on the left have been more likely to make assumptions about me, make negative comments, try to insult me, and tell me to shut up during a minor disagreement, they're also the only ones to bring up my sex, race, and (assumed) sexuality to discredit me for having an opinion.
Also the disagreement I had with this person? I stated that statistics show men are more likely to die by suicide than any other group. Somehow that statement was anti-lgbt, transphobic, and just plain mean and wrong. Note, I made that statement after they claimed "cismen don't really struggle with mental health issues" - which did come out of left field during the course of the conversation. Instead of talking about it they made assumptions about me and then stormed off when I couldn't help but laugh.
The really funny part? We were at a poly/kink event - like how tf did they come to the conclusion that I'm a heterosexual conservative christian tradwife? LOL. We don't meant a lot of 'those types' at the poly or bdsm groups - but if they're around I wouldn't mind talking to them!

I'm thoroughly dismayed that I haven't yet been flagged as an extremist on FaceBook, but also pleasantly surprised that I'm apparently under the radar enough to not be flagged?
Guess that means I might need to change my bio
