pairing: shuri x black!fem!reader

summary: your time on vacation is slowly coming to an end so naturally you two try to find a way to commemorate it.

wordcount: 2.6k

warnings: this one's for the lovers. rated M for mature. minors dni. partial nudity as well as nipple play (reader-receiving) and a brief moment of impact play (titty-slapping, reader-receiving). briefest mention of a needle (tattooing, obviously). there's a few pet names, but none degrading. not beta'd (that's a warning in itself). let me know if i missed any!

a/n: so this was not on my wip list because i forgot i finished this a lil while back lol. a fun twist on the tattoo shop au that i hope you'll all enjoy. i don't know xhosa so any words in bold are to be assumed as spoken in xhosa. there's one or two words in the actual language and credit for their translation goes to @iinkonde from this post. banner and divider by: me.

you were going to miss this, miss the ease of moving through the day without obligations and responsibilities looming over your shoulder. there was nothing like waking up as you pleased next to the woman you loved while the sounds of waves crashing in the distance calmed your soul. the position of the sun being your only source of time, self-carved notches on the wooden planks of the treehouse wall the only indication of how many days had passed since the two of your arrived at the secluded beach.

there was tranquility in getting away from the hustle and bustle of everyday city life. even as you stared out at the vast water before you from where you sat in the sand, the waves crashing into one another, you tried imagining what life would be like if you never went back. you almost wished it were that simple.

"you still with me, yeah?"

shuri's voice found you before your eyes found her, the lithe woman approaching from behind, a green coconut in one hand, a bowie knife in the other.

you drunk in the sight of her, midriff peeking between the gap of her cropped white t-shirt and pink shorts that stopped mid-thigh, rich skin sun-kissed with a healthy glow, one that only came from inward peace and happiness. showing off her strength, shuri swung the knife at the tree nut, hacking away at the top with ease, giving you a chance to ogle the way her biceps flexed with the moment.

"always," you replied shamelessly.

if anything, these last two weeks were proof you didn't need all the riches and privileges that came with being connected to a wakandan royal, romantically or not. you just needed her. you just wanted her. always.

she tried to hide her grin behind the coconut as she took a drink from the opening she created, but you knew her, almost better than you knew yourself it sometimes seemed. there were few reasons her cheekbones would raise towards the sun, why her eyes would crinkle at the corner.

"except when your mind is kilometers away," she retorted, plopping down next to you, her knee brushing yours as she folded her legs pretzel-style beneath her. "no people, no technology, no work to distract you, and i lose you to the ocean!" she chuckled with a shake of her head, sea-salted curls swaying with the movement.

"you could never lose me. you know that. you just like to hear me say it."

leaning in, your pressed your lips to the corner of her mouth, leaving a sweet kiss as your hand swiped the coconut from her grasp.

"naturally." she replied in her native tongue. her words were flippant, teasing, but her voice was butter-soft with affection.

"naturally," you repeated in english, tone mocking bumping her bare shoulder with your own before bringing the coconut up to your lips.

the action was clumsy, the timing of your backwards head tilt slightly off, sending the sweet water dribbling in the miniscule gap between your lip and the nut shell. without a care, you drank deeply, your thirst not surprising given how long you had been soaking in the solar rays. your mother would be disappointed in your lack of uv protection, but in that moment, it was the furthest thing from mind.

you could feel shuri's gaze on you as you drank, leaving a path of warmth that felt different than the sun. that was one thing about being here alone with her, without the so-called distractions of life. everything felt acute, supercharged, and oh-so-very intense.

swallowing, you pulled the coconut away, turning to look at her.

"intoni ingxakhi?" what's wrong, you asked, your interchanging of english and xhosa becoming more natural every time you used the language.

your wrist bent as your arm raised to wipe the soon-to-be-sticky trail from your cheek, chin and neck, only shuri had beat you to it. instead of answering your question, she leaned in, the flat of her pink tongue sliding across the sensitive skin of your collarbone before trailing up you neck. closing your eyes, you tilted your head more to give her extra room to work with. full lips sucked softly at the moisture on your chin, dragging out a groan from the back of your throat.

coconut forgotten in the sand, you brought your hand up to grip the back of her head, soft curls pliable under the grip of your fingers. finally, her mouth moved to meet yours, but as you leaned in to meet her halfway, she pulled back slightly, your lips brushing against one another.

peeling your eyes open, you saw hers were already waiting to connect, heat stirring deep within her irises. you tempted once more to mold your lips together, but again, she leaned away, just enough to keep it from happening.

"shuri." you murmured your complaint, hooded gaze raising from her lips to her eyes than back again.

she challenged with a murmur of your name, lips barely moving before finally descending upon yours.

the sand was going to be a bitch to get out of the dark coiled crown on your head, but there was no stopping you from laying back against the ocean-pebbled surface, shuri's body a welcomed weight atop of yours. legs slotted together, she ground her thigh down against your warm center, a hum of pleasure pressing through lips moving in a synchronic dance only the two of you knew.

your hands resting on her lower back, shuri pulled away to look down at you. palms on the ground at either side of your head held her up so she could take in your beauty, so she could take in the wide set nose and kiss-bitten full lips, the brown eyes that were darkened with desire.

"bast, you are very beautiful."

there was something in the way shuri breathed those words out, almost as if she hadn't meant to say them out loud, or at least not loud enough for you to hear them. one hand left the ground to cup your cheek, thumb swiping gently at slope of your cheekbone, following the curve of your jawline before traveled lower, a loose grip around your neck. her fingers tightened, palm flat as you swallowed, the skin of your throat pressing against it. her hand felt like a brand, hot, possessive. if a mark was left in its place, it'd be one you'd wear with pride.

she could've left her hand there for an eons and you wouldn't have protested in the slightest. instead, it continue its course south, fingertips gliding against the melanin rich skin of chest before meeting the rim of your tank top. her index slowly trailed along the rib knit neckline, drifting back and and forth as if she were stuck in idle.

"don't tease me."

you had barely uttered the sentiment out before she gave into the demand. in a swift action, her second hand met the first and with an easy twist of her wrists, the cotton fabric gave way with an audible tear. the sudden sound stole a gasp from you, one shuri eagerly swallowed with her tongue. she enjoyed getting these reactions from you, reveled in whatever sounds she could make spill from those plum-colored lips. she'd yet to find her favorite sequence and hoped she never would.

her wandering fingers found your nipples, pinching and rolling it between them as her palms massaged the fullness of your breasts. she plucked them like a bassist did her favorite instrument, with care, with passion, with expertise, before delivering your left breast a sharp slap, drawing out a hiss from between your clenched teeth and a smirk overtop of hers.

narrowing your eyes, your hands tightened on her waist, rolling the two of you over. as if she already knew of your plan, shuri shifted her weight as well, the two of you spinning several times, garnering a few meters of distance from your original spot before landing in your desired position. the logroll shifted the tension in the air, laughter breaking the heated moment as the two of you caught your breath.

looking down at her, chest bare as your ruined top hung off your shoulders haphazardly, you smiled.

"i love you."

it wasn't the first time you confessed those three not-so-little words, not that day, not that week, but you meant it as full as the first time you thought it to yourself. the two of you weren't even in the same country at the time. hell, you hadn't even had a conversation in days. instead, you had been watching a live feed on c-span of a united nations conference in your rented apartment.

the camera had panned to some other country's ambassador when you saw her, queen shuri looking regally bored in the background. she wasn't even the one speaking and yet you couldn't keep your eyes off of her. you could've and would've paid the cameraman three-month's salary to always have her in frame, just so you could've seen her for the full duration of the livestream.

you couldn't help but wonder if that was going to be the life you were heading back to in seven days' time, one filled with kisses in passing and workplace obligations that kept you countries-apart on a consistent basis. finding each other in a world of nearly eight billion people was kismet, but even fate had a funny way of insisting on a more difficult journey for lovers.

"what stole your mind from me?" she demanded softly, pulling you back to the present, the fiery mirth within her eyes dulling as concern filled its space.

with a soft sigh, you shifted, finding a seat in her lap as you straddled her, your bare legs aligning with her muscled thighs. though she remained reclined, shuri brought her knees up slightly, toes wiggling in the sand, one hand settling behind her head, the other resting on the curve of your ass.

"i don't want to leave yet. i know we still have a week of holiday left here, but one week is not enough when i desire an eternity with you."

you ducked your head, for speaking like that always made you a bit bashful. it didn't matter how much you knew shuri loved you or how many times she shared her affection towards you, you still couldn't imagine the queen of wakanda continuing to choose you as her boundless love.

"so then we stay."

an unamused huff of air pushed through your nostrils at her suggestion, one brow raising.

"have you forgotten who you are?" you asked incredulously, your voice raising an octave.

"have you?"

the tone of shuri's voice forced you to swallow your tongue, to choose your words, your tone a little more carefully. yes, she was your lover in all definitions, but she was still queen of the most powerful nation on land (and most-likely the sea as well, but that was a conversation for another day). if she wanted to stay, you had no doubt she would find a way to make it happen, even if it was just for a little while longer.

"i don't mean to doubt your capabilities. it's just that your people need you home. they only tolerate me. and if they found out you were considering abandoning your duties for an outsider..."

your voice trailed off, teeth sinking into your bottom lip as your shook your head, refusing to finish the sentence.

the two of you didn't talk about your shaky wakandan lineage. sure your grandmother had talked fondly of the wakandan country and its people, but they were only stories, ones that couldn't be proven, not since your war dog grandfather had disappeared sometime after your mother's birth.

shuri had offer to do some digging, but you had declined, too afraid of the truth drawing a wedge not only between the two of you, but also between you and your family. whether she looked on her own, she hadn't said and you were grateful for the silence on the topic.

"so marry me."

"er...what?"

the turns this conversation had taken was sending your mind into a spin cycle. one minute you were disheartened by the fact that you had to leave her soon and the next you were in the middle of a marriage proposal.

"marry. me."

the chuckle that escaped from between your lips was an accident, a knee-jerk reaction. you had dreamt of those words coming from out of her mouth for months now and to think that they were finally here almost felt too surreal.

almost.

"you're serious?"

sitting up, shuri rested her weight on one hand, leaning in to affectionate bump her nose against yours.

"how could i not be when i am talking about a lifetime with the love of my existence?"

the unwavering of her stare as she looked into your eyes killed any thought of this being a playful joke to lighten the moment, to ease your worries. your mind decided it was the perfect time to short circuit as you tried to figure out the right thing to say.

"well it wasn't that great of a proposal so..." you said, a cheeky response to try ease the pressure in your chest.

shuri gasped at your gall, fingers digging into your side, sending you into giggles. gasping for air, you tried to squirm away, but she didn't let up nor did she let you get away.

"mercy, queen. mercy," you choked out between your laughter.

chest rising and falling rapidly, you were grateful when she finally let you catch your breath...only for her to steal it away again with the sincerity in her voice with her next words.

"do you want to marry me, nkosazana sam?" she asked her princess, the term of endearment one that melted your heart every time.

there was only one response to give her.

"yes, i want to marry you."

you closed the gap between you and shuri, your palms resting on either side of her head while you pressed your lips against hers. pulling away, you couldn't resist one more joke.

"though you might want to get used to calling me queen."

with one more quick kiss to her lips, you pushed up onto your feet and took off down the shoreline, seafoam brushing your ankles as you splashed long the waterline, your fiancée hot on your heels.

"hold still," you complained seriously, though the cackle spilling between your words didn't help.

"you are literally stabbing me with a needle. there is no 'holding still.'"

the two of you were back up in the treehouse, naked as the day, shuri lying face down on the queen-sized bed, the only luxurious furniture in the space.

you were straddling her again, only this time you had settled down on the plump of her backside, hunched over as you tried to deliver as clean of a stick-and-poke tattoo as you could to her spine. the words "eternally yours" in wakandan glyphs that trailed from the nape of your neck to the space between your shoulder blades were identical to the sentiment you were currently trying to imprint in the same location on shuri's back.

A contribution to @officialfeysandweek2023 Day 6: Mates. This is just a little teaser oneshot of a premise I'd love to expand on later down the road, once I've wrangled some of my other WIPs. Hope you enjoy!

The first time Rhysand saw her, it truly had been a coincidence.

Two years before the end of Amarantha’s seven times seven years curse, the High Lord of Spring had finally begun sending his emissaries over the Wall.

That was the reason Rhysand had gone over the wall, though he could admit his intentions for volunteering were partially swayed by the glimpse of the human hand that he’d seen in his sleep. He hadn’t been planning on searching for her. It had crossed his mind, admittedly, but he had dismissed the thought just as swiftly.

Finding her would be a mistake. An easily exploitable one. So he had kept to the woods. He was only there to monitor Tamlin’s emissaries and remind Amarantha that human girls would only ever run away screaming where they to encounter a faerie.

Except for this one.

That was because she hadn’t seen him yet—was too focused on the snare she crouched over, nimble fingers looping the rope with an expertise that rattled him. She was pretty, a bit young. Sun dappled past the branches overhead, lighting the streaks of golden honey in her braided hair.

From the way she bent over, he could count the notches in her spine. She was poor, likely starving. If that wasn’t evidenced by her slight frame, then certainly from the fact that she was in these woods at all, rigging a trap like she was a hunter and not a teenage girl.

Rhysand would have continued on his way. Unseen, unfeeling.

But then she looked up.

Not at him. A bird took flight off a nearby branch, flapping its wings, and she rose, drawing her bow with a precision that awed him into stillness. She turned, bow poised and stretched back to the corner of her lips.

Startling blue gray eyes narrowed towards the sky, tracking the bird as it moved. Then she fired. He heard the wind whipping past the arrow, listened to it slice through the bird, how its fluttering heart stopped.

He had the strangest sensation that she had fired that arrow through his chest, instead.

She was the girl. The one he saw in his dreams. Rhysand wasn’t certain how he knew, but she turned, confronting him with the sight of her face in full. And he knew.

Those eyes. Like the sky at dusk. They were the ones he had been looking through.

And those hands, flecked with paint.

Amarantha may have sent him into those woods, but evidently so had the Mother.

Without fully thinking, he took a step forward. His huntress whirled, already reaching for another arrow. But she paused when she saw him. One arm stretched toward the quiver at her back, the other fell loose at her side. Her eyes were wide. Her lips, softly parted.

A fae body—particularly a High Lord’s—was built to possess a keen awareness of every sound, every sight, every smell not just in the immediate vicinity, but for miles. Rhysand could hear the soft murmurs of conversation in the Village on the other side of those woods. As a daemati, he could reach all the way back to the Mountain and tug at the awareness of any of the hundreds of minds intricately wound beneath his talons.

But when his eyes met hers, everything went silent.

Even his magic.

Everything apart from the sound of his own living, beating heart.

He’d forgotten he had one of those. But now he could hear it in time with hers. Their breathing synced. She gasped at the same time he exhaled.

“Who are you?” She asked.

Rhysand could only think to lie.

“Isaac Hale.”

“Who?”

He tilted his head, laughing like he imagined a bashful human boy might. “My father owns the farm on the west side of the village,” he said, reaching toward her mind. She unfolded at the slightest touch, parting for him with all the resistance of pushing through the surface of water. Remember? He crooned to her.

She blinked. “Oh.” Her brows merged. “You live on the outskirts of the village. I-I—”

“We never crossed paths much,” Rhys said.

“Yes,” she murmured. Her fingers tightened on the bow, tucking it behind her back. She tilted her chin down, saying toward the dirt. “My family didn’t live in the village… before.”

Oh?

“I heard about that.” He stepped closer, curious about this mind he held in his hands, how his magic practically sang when he stroked his talons against her. She straightened, but didn't seem to notice. “It seems like your family’s fallen on tough times.”

Her chin raised enough so that she could scowl at him. Not so ashamed that it overrode her pride. Good.

“Oh, come on,” he said with a light smile. “It’s not like you’re the only one. I’m out in these woods too, aren’t I?”

“I’ve never seen you in these woods before,” she grumbled. That seemed to jolt her back into motion. She shook her head, unconsciously pushing against his mental talons as she strode towards her quarry.

Rhysand, Mother condemn him, followed. “What’s your name?”

“What’s it to you?”

“You know mine,” he protested.

“I didn’t ask for it.”

Could the Mother and her Cauldron really expect him to turn away? He wanted to know her name so badly he was willing to take it, pry it out of her mind like ripping a wing from a fly. The only thing he desired more was to be given it freely.

She sighed. Long, exaggerated. The kind that said was going to tell him, but she wanted him to know he was being burdensome first. The kind that said she knew, already, that even with his magic twined around her defenseless mind, he was the one wrapped around her fingers.

The girl crouched over the bird, nose crinkled with disgust. Her sorrow permeated the air, thick and cloying. He twitched with the urge to remedy it lest the scent smother him. Such heartache for a bird. Even when it was being killed for her own survival.

He supposed he would not need to worry that she was in any danger of breaking Tamlin’s curse.

“How’s a wager?”

She turned her head. Pushed an eyebrow up.

Rhysand smiled. “Tell me your name, I’ll gut the bird for you.”

“Feyre,” she said.

Fey-ruh. He mouthed it, felt the world go quiet again. All that static noise in the back of his mind cutting away into a musical pause that lasted two full syllables.

He was in those woods for a reason. Rhys knew he shouldn’t follow her out of them. But, well. He had a bird to gut.

Savannah Squad Presentation Night Headcanons/Drabble [2/3]

ANYWAYS, here's part 2 :}

Part 1: Taylor & Logan Part 2: Ben & Tyler Part 3: Aiden & Ashlyn [WIP]

Logan's POV

Two hours and twenty-eight minutes. It has been two hours and twenty-eight minutes and we've been stuck at 76% complete for forty minutes. Whoever made Windows deserves to burn and I stand by that, cause what do you mean that they can push an update and force restart my laptop.

"Logan when was the last time you updated this?" "Logan, why are there fifteen updates that need to be downloaded?" "Bro, when was the last time you actually shut down your laptop?" ... "I've been busy, okay--"

So it might be my fault. Partially. I will admit that much, but the laptop's never given me a problem before and it was running fine. It's just old, and has a few odd... kinks? I mean, the left half of the mousepad is jammed to the point where it can't click, and, sure, the screen does go black every now and again, but just hit it a few times it works! It's character, charm even (and I can't be bothered to fix it...)!

It was, honest to God, easier for Aiden to run back to his place and grab his laptop.

"So we agree that Logan is off electronic duty right?" Taylor had asked as Ben was setting up the other computer to the television screen with Aiden helping. It was a unanimous decision. Ben and Aiden are the new tech guys.

"Yeah, that's probably for the better," I had conceded.

Ben Clarke

Ben goes next because he saved the groups sanity by suggesting that Aiden just gets his laptop. Everyone, thank Ben for the night not failing.

To address the obvious, Ben has a text to speech app on his phone, which is connected to a speaker, that he uses to present. I will say that there is a sort of humor in this for two reasons. One, the voice can either be monotoned like a typical text-to-speech program with funny pronunciation errors, or two, it will sound like one of those videos on tiktok where an AI is reading a tumblr post about SuperBats or something and gets progressively more expressive as time goes on. Personally, I want to hear exasperated robot Ben voice explaining to Aiden why "Life is a Highway" on repeat can and will be considered a torture method.

Ben's music taste is GODLY. And he's more of a eclectic listener too so he has experience with a good amount of genres. This man does not bash other genres of music that he doesn't care for, he thinks its rude to the person he's talking to and to the artist.

Aiden is the exception to this rule^^

DESPISES having to subscribe to music platforms. What do you mean that you can't listen to a song on repeat without paying, what do you mean that you will interrupt his carefully crafted playlist with a recommended song that does not fit the vibe. This end up derailing his presentation couple times.

He has a set criteria that he judges on: length, vibes, transitions, and replayability. Good playlists should at minimum be an hour, have similar vibes/sound while still being unique, the transitions between songs shouldn't be jarring, and the playlist shouldn't be painful to listen to after a month.

Taylor and Ashlyn helped him judge everyone's playlists by acting as secondary perspectives. Taylor is more open to everyone's music tastes while Ashlyn scrutinizes them more. They pretty much just took a playlist that everyone listens to regularly, one that they made but listen to it every so often, and their liked songs.

I would also like everyone to remember that the series is set in 2016... they would have songs mostly from the 2000s-2010s with the exceptions of some 90s and 80s songs. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, I'm just saying that I looked up 2010s hit songs and I'm filled with nostalgia.

Overall, Ben's criticisms and recommendations are genuinely thoughtful. Especially the recommendations. For each person, after critiquing their playlists, Ben made a slide of genres and artists that each person should check out to expand their tastes.

(I'll probably make a bit about what songs were on their playlist, idk tho)

Group Reaction (how they ranked in comparison to each other)

Personally, Tyler and Logan getting the best ratings because their playlists are very consistent in their vibes and are replayable. I also think that Ben's music taste fits the most with these two for some reason, so they got the most song recs out of everyone.

Ashlyn is third in the ranking. She has one or two that she listens to occasionally, and they're pretty short. They are absolute polar opposites though. One of the playlists is rock, since she canonically likes Paramore (if you don't, get well soon), and the other is classical music for her ballet performances.

Taylor is next. Her playlist isn't bad, its just... a bit everywhere. Like it starts pretty good, but you can tell that somewhere along the lines of creating this playlist she just added songs that she remembered that she likes. It mostly fits the same genre. Ben makes her a more organized playlist after the presentation.

Aiden is dead last. It's not because his music taste is shit. Aiden actually has a pretty good music taste. No. Its because he only listens to his liked songs on repeat like a monster. It is musical whiplash. You go from a movie theme song, to crying, to listening to white girl club music, to rock, to crying again, and then for some reason the Home Depot jingle???? The only playlists that he makes are for jokes really. Do you know the John Mulaney bit where he plays "What's New Pussycat?" 27 times. Yeah, that's Aiden.

Tyler Hernandez

Tyler's next, and, I'm letting you know now that he sprayed the fuck out of Aiden for interrupting. Yeah, Ash pulled them a part.

Motherfucker is so pleased with himself, like its honestly so funny. Aiden had him by the collar and Tyler was just fucking smiling. Taylor does throw her slipper at him for being rude, but he could honestly care less.

The slideshow itself is the most soulless thing ever made, man used the Blank Google Slides template and called it a day. Like one stock image on each slide, and its so pixelated. He probably did it like an hour ago. That's why his presentation is funny because he's just jabbing at Aiden over and over with a basic slideshow that you'd see someone pull out in a Spanish 1-2 class.

You know what? He probably had another presentation about what piercing he think would suit the group best, and just did this one out of spite cause Aiden was being loud. I take back my previous statement about him doing it an hour before getting to Logan's place, he did this on his PHONE WHEN THE LAPTOP WAS UPDATING!!!! Like Logan was taking a walk, Ben was trying to fix the computer, the girls went to make sandwiches, Aiden was running errands, and Tyler made this in an hour.

His presentation is based off a tier system where it gets more effective with each method. Methods 1-3 are pretty basic where its just stuff like duct taping his mouth shut, 4 and onwards just gets funny

I'll be completely honest, each way he put is wild, and it gets progressively more deranged as the presentation goes on. These one's my favorite

"Number 9: Dying You know, I thought this would be the best way, but the bastard got crushed by a ceiling and walked it off. I want you to try and convince me that Aiden wouldn't crawl out of hell just to ruin my day. " "Number 10: Put him in a room alone with Ashlyn's mom and dad *insert a picture of Aiden sitting not so comfortably in between Ashlyn's parents* I don't even think I need to say anything else, I mean, I will, but like... look at him"

This is honestly the shortest presentation of the night but so far it's the most chaotic (he will quickly lose this title).

Tyler went through two spray bottles, mainly for Aiden, but he did spray Taylor once or twice. She threw a shoe at him. It's only fair.

Groups Reaction

Aiden is standing to the side with a towel around himself because Logan said his grandparents would kill them for ruining their couch. He's not exactly pissed but he is kind of sulking. Honestly this just makes his presentation so much better for him.

You know how Tyler asked for suggestions in the beginning, Ben and Ashlyn give him genuine ideas. Mainly Ben, just out of good humor you know. And Tyler's taking notes.

Taylor is giggling, but she does feel a bit bad for Aiden. At some point she gives him a consolation sandwich to raise his spirits.

Logan, however, doesn't and he's just quietly enjoying the scene that's unfolding around him.

The end of these two presentations are by far more chaotic than the first two, and it feels like its only going to get worse from here(/pos). Because right now Aiden is fighting with Tyler, getting him soaked too, Taylor is filming them while Logan provides commentary, and Ashlyn is standing with Ben setting up the next powerpoint.

While it was initially decided that Aiden would go last, Ashlyn suggested that she and him switch. Mainly so that he can drip dry while presenting, and sit down when he's done.

Aiden is following a presentation that was just jabbing at him, how do you think his is going to end up now?

WIP Wednesday, May 1, 2024

Hello hello! It's another Wednesday, we have new freaking RWRB content from Prime (seriously, wtf they've been holding out on us).

Between the URL change and Tumblr's tags being dumb, I can only say that @kiwiana-writes and @iboatedhere tagged me for today, but if you've tagged me and I've missed you, just let me know.

Returning today to (The Only Truth) Everything Comes Back To You for the @aroyallybigbangrwrb. I'm in Tier 2 so it'll be a few weeks yet before I post everything, but just something to tide you over:

The brownstone is dark when Henry arrives home except for a room on the second floor, the bright light shining down onto the sidewalk below. Henry kicks off his shoes once inside, sets his keys in the bowl on the table in the entryway, and climbs the stairs to the second floor quietly. He isn’t worried about disturbing Alex because he knows Alex will be hyper focused on whatever case he’s working on. Henry taps his knuckle gently against the partially closed door before pushing it the rest of the way open. He finds Alex standing at his desk, sleeves rolled up to his elbows, with his hands behind his neck and looking up toward the ceiling.

An open tag as always, but some gentle, no pressure tags below the cut.

Preview of my latest Merlin WIP! I'm not quite sure what I'll call it yet, but it should be a 5 + 1 fic! (I've always wanted to do one of these, so I'm really excited abt it!! ^^)

Here's the idea of the fic: Merlin is aware before the start of the show that he's immortal and is therefore a little more reckless during random daily activities than he probably should be. It's from Arthur's perspective as he continually FREAKS OUT over Merlin carelessly endangering himself without a single thought about it. (It's a 5 + 1 fic because it will be five times Arthur catches Merlin, who he doesn't realize is immortal, doing something unbelievably dangerous for apparently no reason (or just being genuinely oblivious about the situation and why what he's doing is giving Arthur heart problems) and the one time Merlin actually gets hurt (+ the consequential magic reveal when Merlin doesn't die from what appears to be a fatal injury.))

Anyways! That's the general idea of the fic! Here's the little preview for anyone who's interested!

Arthur's new manservant was certainly...entertaining. Yes, that was probably the right word for it. The boy left quite a lasting impression on Arthur the first time he had met him, and he wouldn't be surprised if the mouth on him hadn't gotten him into trouble before.

The only problem was when Merlin wasn't bantering with Arthur, or being a general nuisance, he was incredibly stupid; and most of the time he wasn't even referring to the few occasions when Merlin simply forgot to do one of the chores Arthur had assigned to him. No, Merlin was incredibly stupid in the fact that he was completely oblivious to his surroundings most of the time, putting himself in unnecessarily dangerous situations that could have been prevented during everyday activities, and giving Arthur a partial heart attack every time it happened.

.｡*ﾟ+.*.｡1. ﾟ+..｡*ﾟ+

It had only been a couple of weeks since Uther had hired Merlin on as his manservant when he began to notice his rather...risky tendencies.

Arthur was out in the lower town with a small group of knights, wandering around on patrol the first time it had happened. It was a slow morning; not a lot happening and therefore not a lot to keep Arthur from complete boredom.

By the time it was time for their group to head back to the citadel, the sun was beating down in hot waves from overhead and it was beginning to get more crowded. Arthur felt only a little put out that the second he had to head back was when everything became busy and so much more interesting.

And yet, perhaps all hopes for something interesting to happen were not completely lost.

Just then Arthur spotted a familiar head of black hair and a scrappy neckerchief pass by on the other side of the crowd a small ways ahead of him.

Merlin seemed to be running errands for Gaius as he stopped at a few different stalls to grab different herbs for the court physician's different tinctures and medicines. Arthur also knew that anything Merlin couldn't find in the market of the lower town, he would have to scavenge for himself outside of Camelot.

As Arthur drew nearer to Merlin he watched as he paid for his items before beginning to cross the street... Right as Arthur began to hear the sound of a fast-approaching horse.

He felt his neck twitch uncomfortably as he jerked his head in the direction of the noise and noticed a large horse and carriage barrelling their way down the path; the crowd parting before them so as not to get run over. All except Merlin who stood directly in front of the rapidly approaching horse as he crossed the street while apparently remaining completely oblivious to the fact he was about to be run over.

Arthur felt his heart leap into his throat and before he knew what he was doing he was rushing away from the knights and toward Merlin. He quickly grabbed onto Merlin's arm, the man in question letting out a surprised noise, and pulled him out of the way right before he could get run over.

Arthur stood in silence for a few moments as he registered the sound of the horse clopping away; the noise of its hooves on the stone pathway getting further and further away. He felt it as his sudden rush of adrenaline began to slow, and tried to catch his breath after the sudden panic and mad dash to save Merlin's life.

"Uh..." Merlin sounded uncertain and Arthur looked at the idiot he had just saved from getting run over. "You could probably let go of my arm now."

Arthur looked down at his hand and took notice of the fact that he had yet to remove it from where he had latched onto Merlin to pull him out of the way. He felt his face begin to heat up and was quick to remove it; obviously, he needed to get to somewhere more shady with more haste than he had originally thought if he was so hot all of a sudden.

"Watch where you're going next time idiot."

Merlin simply smiled and nodded his head, seemingly, and quite confusingly to Arthur, unbothered by the whole situation. "Alright."

Arthur wasn't going to return the smile but he would admit silently to himself that he was grateful Merlin had seemed to agree with him for once without the usual bickering. It wasn't exactly something Arthur wanted to deal with again after all.

It was too bad that this wouldn't be the last time Merlin risked his life in his pure obliviousness.

WIP Late-Wednesday

Scott needed help. Scott asks for help even if its just a little thing.

This is a part of a scene I've had in my mind for a while that follows my fic Close Call. Ao3. Probably is still comprehensible if you havent read it but like also look more earth and sky!! So here a rough partial version though its got a fair amount to it and words for a wip Wed so here!! Enjoy the earth and sky moment.

Scott let out a growl of frustration, flapping his hand about in an attempt to dislodge the tape. A foolish attempt, he found, as it flipped around and stuck to the other side of his hand. So now it was sticking! It hadn't before to the point and clearly the adhesive wasn’t the problem, it was very effective except at going where he wanted it!

He wadded up another ball of the athletic tape to join the other attempts. At this rate he was going to run out before he managed to get any to stick where he wanted it. He was trying to take care of his shoulder and do all the right things. He’d done his physio exercises each morning with Gordon after their respective swim and run so he wouldn’t forget and Gordon would tell him if he thought he was pushing himself too hard. He’d worn the sling, even though he hated having an arm immobilised.

He really was for once trying to take care of himself because he’d actually listened to Virgil even when it took both of them having a sobbing breakdown for it to stick, but the entire universe seemed dead set against it. The ugly, beige tape and bits of paper backing stared up at him from where they were strewn across his bathroom counter. A couple had even landed in the sink. Scott averted his eyes, same as he’d done from the mirror, staring instead at his bare feet. There was yet another failed attempt fallen down there. The blue polish from when he’d let Gordon paint his nails was still stuck to them. He wriggled his toes into the fluffy bathmat in an attempt to distract himself.

As he rolled his right shoulder backwards, the joint popped and clicked. It had healed up alright after he’d dislocated it weeks back so Virgil and Grandma were finally letting him back on active rescue duty. Not just light duty protocols where he wasn’t even allowed out of One no matter how much he ached to help properly. Virgil’s firm commands and the memory of his terrified anger, along with the way John’s eyes had widened, expression crumpling the one time he’d almost moved had kept him in his seat.

Scott pulled his shirt back on. At least now he wasn’t gasping in pain every time he had to manoeuvre his arm into the sleeve. His shoulder was pretty much back to its usual level of dull hurt if he overworked it and sharp stabs if he did something really weird. Virgil had also informed him when he accidentally said this that it wasn't normal for it to hurt all the time at all without a current injury. So that was something too.

His feet took him to the lounge room where he knew Virgil would be painting right now, what was left of the roll of tape in hand. He let himself walk up to Virgil’s easel, like this was totally normal, like he wasn’t doing anything new, or unprecedented. There was nothing to be nervous about. He bit at the inside of his cheek.

A deep breath in, let it out. Then: “Hey Virge.”

Virgil immediately looked up from his stunning landscape of the island, brows nearly meeting in the middle.

Yup very normal, Scott. Virgil the musician totally wouldn't notice how his voice was a pitch higher than usual.

“What’s up?” Virgil began cautiously.

Scott balled his hands into fists before consciously relaxing them.

The memories played back in his mind. He could just ask.

“Virgil, I need your help?”

It came out as more of a question than Scott had meant. He was ready to stuff the words back down his throat in the second of silence that followed.

His brother stiffened minutely, grip tightening around his paintbrush. But then he smiled up at Scott, putting the brush into cloudy turquoise water in the jar.

“Sure, what with?”

Oh.

Like that Virgil was ready to help him.

Scott head spun, he’d been holding his breath and he let it out shakily. Why the hell was this harder than jumping out of One? He was just asking Virgil for help with what was objectively a small task and it wasn’t like they didn’t ever help patch each other up and check over gear on missions. But this time it was him approaching and doing the asking.

“My shoulder, I’ve been trying to strap it up for today, like you said.” He waved the tape around vaguely.

Virgil settled a hand on his uninjured shoulder, grounding him with the weight.

Scott let himself lean into it. Impulsively, he tipped forward so he could hug his brother press their foreheads together.

Virgil’s deep brown eyes widened in surprise before softening at the edges.

He rested a warm hand at the back of Scott neck, smiling at him.

“I’m happy to help.”

Scott closed his eyes, letting the relief sink in and hope to fix this moment in his mind so next time it was something big he’d remember this.

An Alastor drawing I made:

Not done. But, I just thought of sharing the WIP for now.

From this post, where I said something about a canon-compliant Overlord Husk.

Ofc the main focus is Husk, but this version of Alastor was what I thought for the ‘earning his respect’ thing. Also since, I don’t know how to draw a humanoid cat with wings yet, I decided to draw Alastor first.

Will not be explaining the context of why Alastor looks like this in the AU yet, but I will tell you I few ideas that I’ve already set on:

- (Obviously) Husk is partially the reason why Alastor is permanently silenced. (But, not intentionally.)

- Yes. It’s Alastor’s “soul owner” who did that to him.

- He, in fact, still has his tongue and his voice, so he can talk if he wants to. But, the stitches are to remind him to willingly shut up forever unless he wants the stitches to tighten and shut his lips. (Small noises are still allowed).

- Stitches were intentionally made loose enough so he can still smile.

- No. He can’t broadcast with his own voice anymore. But, Husk is the new voice for his radio (voluntarily bc he felt bad). Alastor writes what he wants him to say.

- Alastor doesn’t know ASL or any type of sign language at all. If he doesn’t have anything to write with, he just makes random gestures that no one fucking understands. (Except Niffty)

- Niffty can somehow understand every word he’s trying to gesture, and translates it. She’s officially his translator.

- No, the clothes I drew aren’t him becoming an “ex-overlord”. He’s still and overlord. He’s dressed like this because;

1) I drew his face from memory, but can’t do the same for his clothes.

2) He’s not obligated to, but bc he’s friends with Husk now in this AU, he sometimes helps around in the casino.

- One of his eyes is permanently stitched open just because…. It adds more, depressing and horrific features. I know… uncalled for.

Headcanon: Breakdown didn’t join the decepticons for Knock Out. KO joined the decepticons for BD. To me this makes the most sense, because KO is so clearly of a higher caste and is more inclined to whoever comes off as the “winning side” rather than their cause. BD on the other hand is always looking out for the little guy and was a wrecker. The decepticons only reach out to the duo because of KO, but I’m willing to bet that it was BD who talked him into accepting.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh yesyesyes.

Personally, I don't think Breakdown even talked Knock Out into it. I am partial to the idea that Knock Out joined for Breakdown, but not because Breakdown asked, but because Knock Out decided pre-emptively (i have a wip in the works with this concept as the leading force).

Knock Out is selfish and prioritizes himself above all else....except Breakdown. I like to think he's very protective of Breakdown and constantly thinking how to make sure Breakdown's safety can be secured. It is borderline self-sacrificing. So when the Decepticons call him to the Nemesis, its not a question in his mind he isn't going to say yes. Its the only way to ensure Breakdown is safe, that they have shelter and energon. The autobots are small and out numbered and going neutral is risky. The Decepticons are ensured safety, even if they have to be Starscream's (and later Megatron's) lapdogs.

Breakdown never questions it. I think for Breakdown, he'd prefer neutrality but he always defers to Knock Out. Its their preferred dynamic but its also trust. Breakdown trusts Knock Out implicitly to make the best decision for them. They discuss things sure, but if Knock Out makes a decision, Breakdown rarely feels the need to contradict it.
