Soo, I found you when I was reading through Makorra reddit posts, and I must say wow. Your research, the interactions you spotted, I have not seen something that could rival the things Korrasami shippers posted. Also may I ask why Makorra is your fav ship?? Os it too late to ask? Also what do you think of a Makorrasami ship?
I kept this in my ask box for a long time, debating on whether or not I was willing to answer it. It's nothing against you, it's just that I've been....out of the LOK fandom for a long time and don't have particularly fond memories of my time there. The finale fallout was my first true long-term fandom drama and it kind of soured my ability to engage with the show the way I used to. But I'm willing to answer at least part of your ask because I think I've finally gained enough time, space, and emotional distance to answer without any lingering bitterness. The answer for why I liked Makorra largely boils down to two reasons: I really loved how they both pushed each other to grow, and they're a friends-to-lovers bickering Battle Couple who would die and kill for each other if necessary.
It's no secret to anyone who's followed me for more than a month or so that I'm a sucker for that particular ship dynamic. It's the same dynamic that underpins a lot of the ships I like (from Percabeth to Royai to Kanej to Luke/Mara to Deckerstar to Captain Swan to Spitfire to...several others), and Mako and Korra fall squarely inside it. I think it's an extremely fun ship dynamic that combines the solid fundamental baseline of "we have shared interests and enjoy spending time together," fun and flirty romantic vibes, and the Knowledge™ of each other that comes from knowing how to fight seamlessly beside each other.
I also really enjoyed how, as characters, they were always pushing each other to think beyond their "duties" and examine whether they could be happy as individuals who deserved to have personal lives. Mako spent his entire childhood and adolescence caring for Bolin and making sure that they were both fed and had a roof over their heads; and while Korra was sheltered, she largely defined her worth as what she could do for other people as the Avatar. Neither of them were given much of a chance for personal exploration outside of their respective roles and duties until they met each other, and I think they were instrumental in helping each other grow in that respect. Mako always treated Korra like she was a person before he treated her as "the Avatar," and knowing Korra allowed Mako to explore who he was outside of "Bolin's driven older brother" and "pro-bending champion."
So knowing each other (whether they were friends or dating) helped them form a more complete understanding of themselves. They both have strong morals and opinions, and even when they clashed it was apparent that they deeply respected each other and wanted the best for them...which I really loved. There's several other reasons, but those are the main two.

What are your top five ships?
Oh, dear, this is hard to answer... I'll do my best, though :) (Disclaimer that what ship I prefer at any given time is largely a function of what mood I'm in then, and that, obviously, varies. I'll try to list them in some kind of an order though.)
Destiel (Supernatural)
Ineffable Husbands (Good Omens)
Steddie (Stranger Things)
Captain Swan (Once Upon a Time)
Gentlebeard (Our Flag Means Death)
And for some honorable mentions + reasons for them being there/not being in the list:
Ronance or Rockie from Stranger Things (I honestly don't know which one I like better... they both have merits. Robin just deserves to be happy, okay???? Honestly, my indecision about which I'm rooting for is probably the only reason this doesn't make it to the top five list.)
Wandavision from, well, Wandavision et al. (I've kinda stumbled into this from my friend's obsession, but the dynamics of their relationship --- while definitely not always healthy --- are fascinating in an iffy way. I like them a lot regardless, and the show is one of my favorite Marvel vehicles I've seen.)
Deckerstar from Lucifer (cute when they're well-written, but verges on unhealthy when not... the latter gets them knocked off the "top five" list, but the better version of the ship, where she's not perpetually trying to change him and he's not condemned to the fate he never wanted, is quite nice)
Isabeau/Navarre from Ladyhawke (I don't usually feel strongly about ships from movies, but these two... for all people say that Romeo and Juliet is the quintessential romance, I disagree. This is the one romance movie I could tolerate as a kid in a household full of the rom-coms my sister made me watch despite me hating them, and that's a powerful statement)
Perc'ahlia from Critical Role (Also something I've gotten to through a friend, and also something I likely won't engage in fandom-wise, but I appreciate their dynamic too, so it bears mentioning)
Also, this isn't romantic, but I need to add in a section for the best non-romantic relationships; it's not the focus of the ask, I don't think, so I'll keep it short, but it has to be said... In no particular order, Steve/Robin and Tenth Doctor/Donna. Chaotic platonic soulmates right there, and I love 'em to bits.
Thank you for the ask! Hope that was an engaging-ish answer, and that you're well! (And I'm happy to elaborate on any, should you wish... I could just go on for ages about most of them, so I had to cut myself off somewhere!)

Planning a Hell of a Wedding | ✓ mourning your lost days as a bachelor
Drabble 09 / ?
Setting: Post s5, maybe post s6?
Word count: 1.4K
Rating: M
Summary of the series: The Devil and the Detective make their way through the wedding planning checklist. One is more passionate about it than the other.  (Works as a sequel to this fic.)
Author’s note: Rated M for Chloe’s dirty mind. Also, I wrote a great deal of this while drunk on champagne, so please forgive me.
Read it on Ao3
Lucifer grabs the drink Patrick just poured him and lifts it to his lips as he turns around to face his club. It’s buzzing as usual, the crowd moving to the pulsing bass while indulging in all kinds of debauchery. To the far right, a Bride-to-be sign glitters atop the head of a young, positively sozzled woman. In another time, he’d already be over there by now, drawing out the desires of her and her jealous, self-pitying girlfriends. Now, he just thinks of his own bride-to-be. Wishes she were here. Or that he were with her, snuggled up on their couch, drinking that cheap red wine she for some odd reason enjoys and stealing fruity kisses here and there.
‘Mourning your lost days as a bachelor?’
His lips instantly spread into a smile at the sound of her voice, his hands reaching for her waist before their eyes even meet.
‘What a delightful surprise,’ he murmurs, leaning in for a kiss. She smiles against his mouth and brings her fingers to his stubble, her ring brushing against his cheek. She tastes like mint gum and lip gloss and something distinctively her. He deepens the kiss for just a second.
‘There wasn’t that much paperwork after all, and Trixie’s with Dan,’ she explains when they pull apart.
She’s wearing a little black dress that hugs her perfect curves deliciously and reveals her long, bare legs. It’s quite amazing, how she manages to take away his breath every time he looks at her. Even more amazing that he gets to look at her, every day for the rest of-
‘Wait, doesn’t that mean we have the house to ourselves?’
She nods, biting her lip, and the instant effect it has on him is almost embarrassing.
‘What on Earth are we doing here, then? My face should be buried between your thighs right now!’
She snorts at his bluntness, used to it by now. Still, a blush creeps up her cheeks. She looks up at him through her eyelashes, a glint in her eyes.
‘You’re not even gonna buy me a drink first?’
Beneath the playfulness, he can tell she actually wants this, him and her in his nightclub, flirting and drinking. And how could he possibly say no to that?
‘Sorry, where are my manners?’ Lucifer apologises, and in the same instant, a large beer, her favourite, is placed in front of them.
‘For the Missus,’ Patrick says, winking at them both. Chloe thanks him with a smile and takes a long, sexily unladylike swig.
They sit and chat about nothing and everything, fingers intertwined on his thigh, as clubgoers in varying states of inebriation come and go around them. Chloe’s about to order another beer when Lucifer drags her out on the floor. They move together, inelegantly and not quite in sync with the music thanks to the Detective’s two left feet and her lacking sense of rhythm—but it’s okay. It’s more than okay, actually; it’s fun. Even more so when she turns around in his arms and starts rubbing her bum up against him.
He groans in her ear, his grip on her hip tightening. She twirls awkwardly under his arm to face him again and puts a little distance between them, a smirk on her face.
Tease.
Just as he’s pulled her closer, their fronts now pressed together, the music changes.
‘Oh, I love this song!’ Lucifer’s face lights up as the familiar beat and catchy tune fill the club. ‘Such an artist, he was.’ His smile is suspiciously wistful.
‘You slept with him, didn’t you?’
He looks down at her, grinning.
‘Why, Detective.’ He bends his neck, bringing his mouth to her ear. ‘I’m not usually one to shag and tell’—Chloe rolls her eyes—‘but yes of course.’
His confession is a hot breath against the side of her face, his lips brushing her earlobe, and Chloe doesn’t know how to respond to that, but it does make her think-
‘Are you- Are you gonna miss… that?’
He spins her around in an annoyingly smooth move so that her backside is pressed to his front again.
‘Miss what, darling?’ he asks, voice a little muffled as he kisses her neck.
‘You know.’ A series of not entirely disturbing images invade Chloe’s mind. ‘Men.’
He brings them face to face again, dark eyes blinking and brows furrowed in confusion.
‘Detective, are you asking me whether I’ll miss getting dicked once I officially vow to share my bed with only you, forever and always?’
Chloe looks down at their dancing feet. ‘Well, if you want to put it that way.’
Lucifer laughs, equally surprised and amazed.
‘No,’ he answers, his tone suddenly serious, yet still lined with drunken happiness.
‘No?’
He brings his hand from where it’s splayed across her lower back to her face, tenderly brushing his thumb across her cheek.
‘I do not and will not miss it,’ he assures her, eyes twinkling. ‘In fact, I don’t miss anything about my sex life, BC.’
Before she even thinks about asking, he leans down and, in a sultry whisper, clarifies, ‘Before Chloe.’ Then he places a kiss behind her ear, slow and wet.
‘Ah.’
He smirks and lets his hand glide from her face to her collarbone, pausing for a second before continuing across her breast, the side of her ribs, behind her back, and down to her ass—all the while still moving to the beat. He hums into the crook of her neck, his beard tickling her skin, and she puts a hand on his chest to steady herself. Her heartbeat quickens, a symptom of both physical exercise and having Lucifer wrapped around her, all mouth and hands.
‘No, but seriously, darling,’ he says, meeting her eyes in the half-darkness of the club. He suddenly feels the need to stress this, even though she probably already knows. She looks back at him, tipsy and dazed. Her golden ring, her star, glows softly on her finger, her hand warm against his chest. ‘I’ve always found sex to be fun, but with you…’
He considers her face as he searches for the words, admires her soft eyes and curious smile. His hand—the one that’s not splayed out across her delectable derriere—curls around her waist, pushing her impossibly closer. He relishes her warmth and nearness and the sway of her hips—how good it feels. How good she feels. He smiles at her, slow and vulnerable.
‘With you, it’s much more than just fun—much more than just sex. It’s…’
Mind-blowing. Poetic. Comforting. Ambrosial. Giddying. Glorious. Incredible. Meaningful.
‘Love,’ she finishes for him.
He nods, lips tugging up into a lopsided grin.
They dance some more, swinging and bopping to the music. At one point, he wraps both arms around her, hugging her as their bodies move together, and it’s nowhere near as perfected as their dance between the sheets, but it’s sweet and hot and he never wants to let go.
Neither does she, it seems, her hands roaming his chest and back, hungrily. With a mischievous smirk, she unbuttons the first two buttons of his shirt, her fingers skimming down his torso to rest at his belt buckle.
‘Well, if you ever do miss… getting dicked…’ Her voice is drenched with sin, her eyes blown to black as her fingers dip into his slacks. They brush against his lower abdomen before they crawl around to his backside and, ever so lightly, come to rest between his cheeks. Then, with a force that makes him grunt, she thrusts her hips into his.  ‘All you have to do is ask.’
Lucifer looks at her, lips parted in shock and wonder. Their dancing comes to an abrupt halt. Even unbuttoned at the top, his shirt suddenly feels too tight. His trousers are even worse. His pulse thrums in his ears.
‘Detective?’ he breathes, a question and a prayer.
With a truly wicked smile, she brings her fingers to the outside of his slacks and squeezes his ass in her small hand. He responds with a choked moan.
Slowly, she pulls away, leaving him in the middle of the dance floor, frozen and aching.
She’s only a couple of feet away when she glances over her shoulder.
‘You coming?’
He whimpers, scrambles after her as she heads for the elevator, and silently wonders what he ever did to deserve Chloe Decker.

deckerstar are engaged and chloe tells lucifer that she wants to take his last name. (ideally he reacts positively but maybe he’s insecure/hesitant at first)
bonus points if they tell friends/family and it comes out that amenadiel and/or other angelic siblings have also been using lucifer’s last name during their time on earth.

shalimar6 replied to your post “Lucifer Season 3 and the role of the antagonist”
Besides that what really bother me is the stupid marchlo triangle cause it was totally unnecessary, Lucifer didn't need to suffer through a love triangle he already knows he loves Chloe he already is willing to do almost anything for her his issue is the miracle and the free will or not debate and that is why I hate the "you choose me" moment cause they just went poof on the miracle problem there and I really hope it was a one-time thing cause it is really important for
The deckerstar relationship that they work through this issue cause without it Lucifer has no reason to doubt their relationship and like Ella explained without doubt there is no faith and how meaningful can their relationship be without faith?
These are some good points! Marclo was unnecessary for many reasons but chief among them was the focus on Lucifer’s pain rather than Chloe’s choices - we already know Lucifer loves Chloe. I think the revelation for Lucifer was in how hard it would be to watch Chloe fall for someone else. But on the other hand, I think Chloe needed to show free will in some way because Lucifer is, very rightly, focused on her ability to choose. He thinks that she can’t because of her miracle status, but the ironic thing is - free will doesn’t count if you don’t know you’re making a choice. Chloe cannot make an informed decision w/r/t Lucifer because she is not possessed of all the facts; she literally cannot choose Lucifer because in her mind, Lucifer has quit the field. She doesn’t know he’s an option because he has taken steps to remove himself as one. By trying to ensure that Chloe is free to choose, Lucifer is paradoxically choosing for her.
The “you did choose me” scene is significant because it shows Lucifer’s realization, less of Chloe’s potential as a romantic partner, and more of his place in her life. She could have stopped working with him at any point but didn’t, because she wanted to continue their partnership, regardless of what was going on between them. (Where exactly he lost sight of that, however, is another question. From the beginning one of his defining traits was support of Chloe and her abilities.)
Where I think faith comes into play is that Lucifer will always have Chloe’s miracle status hanging over his head. Accepting that she has free will is necessary for him to engage in a relationship with her, but that’s only the first step. There’s no way he’s going to accept a gift horse from his Father without looking it in the mouth, nor should he. Chloe’s free will is paramount and not something that should just be handwaved away. He still has to accept that she will continue to love him and never leave him. He still has to come to terms with the fact that in a very short amount of time compared to his immortal life span, she will age and die. Knowing these things, to still choose each other, to walk into that situation with their eyes wide open - that’s faith. In their love, in each other. I don’t think it gets much more meaningful than that.

Thoughts about S6
This is gonna be a little all over the place. Just me rambling, really.
So, I went up to LA to watch the show with some fandom friends on Friday. We had an absolute blast. I loved the finale season of the show. LOVED. I had some quibbles, of course, but none worth lingering on at length. I know the ending was controversial for some, but not for me. It worked on all levels.
I didn’t have much love for the end of 5B (I know, y’all are probably shocked, given some of the things I’ve written re: Lucifer becoming God or godlike) which is why I never really chimed in on the post-5B discussion. I just couldn’t muster much enthusiasm about it, and I didn’t want to froth about or hate on it when other people were having fun and gushing.
But my main issues at the time involved: Lucifer suddenly wanting to become God felt poorly setup and unearned, and Chloe suddenly quitting the force to support Lucifer becoming God felt incredibly impulsive, perhaps almost out of character.
S6 not only was perfect for me in its own right, it actually went back and fixed my S5B issues retrospectively. Lucifer suddenly wanting to become God felt poorly setup because it WAS poorly set up. On purpose. He never actually wanted to be God. It wasn’t his calling. And Chloe dropping her Detective job so suddenly WAS impulsive. On purpose. She really didn’t think that one through and ended up being bored out of her fucking mind without that job to engage her problem-solving brain. So ... kudos to the writers for that. I am so pleasantly surprised by that backtracking and never expected it.
As far as season 6 goes ... oh my gosh, what a brilliant roller coaster. Like @tarysande, I also spent a large portion of the season wondering what the evil trick was with Rory. I didn’t trust ANYTHING she said for many episodes. I kept waiting for a shoe to drop that never did. I really appreciate that Deckerstar did not get married—I never felt like a marriage was necessary for them given where they were in their life (a divorcee and a Devil who isn’t beholden to human constructs of law). I actively did not want a Deckerstar baby, but the show did it in a way I found absolutely lovely. Rather than using Rory as a magical “happily ever after” button as so many shows do, she was a tool to create massive character growth in Lucifer, and I am so on board with that.
I cried during this season. Frequently. Which is something that rarely happens for me when watching or reading fiction. I am just ... so stupidly emotionally involved in these great characters.
Some people may fixate on the separation between Lucifer and Chloe until her death, but to me ... it worked. Lucifer found a higher purpose and chose to fulfill it, to keep his promise to his daughter—to be a better father for Rory than his father was for him—and he does still ultimately get a “happily ever after” with his family and friends and dearest loved ones. It just starts a little later than planned. Chloe, meanwhile, gets to live her life knowing without doubt the love of her life is not only okay & pursuing his calling, he’s waiting for her on the flip side. They’ll have eternity together—ETERNITY, in exchange for a few decades apart. Bittersweet? Yes. Tragic? No. So I am okay with this. This is a level of certainty no real human ever gets—and as someone with zero certainty about the future whatsoever, I can’t express enough how much this foreknowledge alone would be a comfort in difficult times. It really resonates with me as a meaningful gift.
I do agree that there’s plenty of room for Lucifer to see Chloe without Rory’s knowledge, though I’m on the fence about how realistic this is. I think Dan called it, honestly. Having to watch and not participate is more torturous than not participating at all. And, as I said, he gets to see everybody eventually. He knows his daughter will understand—actively consents, even—and he knows their reunion will come.  He knows Chloe will come back to him, too, because he’s grown to trust and love her fully.
Along those lines, Lucifer showed amazing character development this year. Once this man figures out his feelings and commits, he is ALL IN. I was so proud of him, talking out his feelings, and saying I love you, and hugging people left and right. His goodbyes made me tear up, particularly the scene with Maze. Which. OMG. These two. That scene was a long time coming, and so heartfelt. i loved it. I also loved how comfortable in his own skin he finally seemed this season. He utilized his wings SO MUCH. And his devil face where appropriate. And there was zero angst about any of it.
Time travel is a trope that tends to break my brain, but ... I think Rory showing up is what enabled her own conception. Lucifer didn’t think he could have kids until he finds out he does in the future and then boom, suddenly he can conceive. He self-actualized working swimmers. I know this creates a chicken or the egg paradox—how could this loop ever even start if Rory hadn’t existed at least once on her own—buuut, I’ve definitely seen this trope used in other shows, such as Netflix’s Dark. So, imho, there was an added level to Lucifer’s sacrifice at the end—he wasn’t just trying to preserve his own epiphany via a promise to his daughter, he was actively choosing to save his daughter’s entire existence, and he was choosing to be different from his father.
People who think Lucifer was robbed of choice ... I beg to differ. For the reasons stated above, and also? He was the one who came up with the idea of returning to Hell. No one forced that on him. The only thing Rory did was speed up his time table. And I think there’s a beautiful kind of symmetry to the idea of him returning to Hell and choosing to reframe it as a place of healing, rather than eternal suffering. In a sense, he’s making his own Plan for himself. He’s defining his role in the universe: the Devil, not God. He’s defining his family: Chloe, Rory, Trixie, Dan, Maze, Eve, Linda, Amenadiel, Ella, and all the great friends he’s made. He’s defining his home: not a place, but where his heart is. For the first time in his life, the Devil decided who he is and what he wants to do with his life, instead of letting external forces do it for him.
And I fucking loved every minute of it.
A perfect ending for a long, thoughtful journey.
P.S. If you disagree with me, that’s fine. There’s no wrong way to interpret art and media. But please know I’m not really in the mindset for debate right now. I just want to live in my happy post-S6 bubble. I’d appreciate it if you let me :)

if you feel there's one thing the writers could have done more work with when it came to the Deckerstar journey, what would it be? It seems I'm pickier than most about how it was and what changes I would make to feel more engaged with them as couple, so I'm curious about what you think. Thanks!
they should have had a world system ALREADY in place. you can THINk you're never going to involve Hell and you can THINK you're never going to involve God, but you SHOULD HAVE A UNIVERSAL SYSTEM. the writers have so many plot holes about shit like that because they just made it up as they went. First it's Lucifer punishes people in Hell, then its they punish themselves then its demons, but they just play roles in hell loops. zero rhyme or reason.
Lucifer's devil face is because he fell, maybe? or because of his role to punish in Hell? except now its about self actualization and he gave it to himself.
Lucifer's been kicked out from heaven because of his rebellion or maybe it was a temper tantrum or maybe it was about free will or maybe it was about sexing up eve and sowing "discord and destruction" or maybe he will blow up when he reaches the silver city or he needs the flaming sword to cut through the gates until he doesnt
Mum was in Hell until shes not and shes in another universe she cant return from until she can but its only once. Maybe god was abusive or maybe he loved his son and it was all a misunderstanding except maybe it wasn't because he abandoned him or whate the fuck ever.
NOTHING makes sense.
granted this isn't exactly about Deckerstar's journey as a couple, but it IS what angers me the most. the lack of any continuity with worldbuilding drives me NUTS

I like deckerstar but I hated rory too she was the main problem of the season. I was she was his sister instead that would have been better and they should have focused on Lucifer and chole being a family with trixie. Also Lucifer being in hell was not great. He deserves to remain on earth being happy. And the whole chole growing old was werid.
Yeah :/ I think the general consensus in some circles is that Rory kind of majorly sucked. I almost would have preferred her to be Michael's kid so we could finally have some closure for the whole "Michael is evil" plotline we had going on, and also avoid the whole "Lucifer is a father" thing but we did not get that! 🙃 Personally, I think those plotlines would have been more engaging than "teen throws temper tantrum, permanently condemns herself and her parents to a lifetime of unhappiness," however I did not write this season.

Aurora Morningstar - Evolution of Color
Can we please talk about the use of color and Rory’s emotional progression?
From anger, hate and feelings of abandonment —> understanding, love and a sense of worth and belonging?
Her first appearance shows her in all black clearly filled with hate and anger. As the episodes go on we can see a slight addition of color, but in a very subtle way using dark tones.
In 6x07 we got a little burst of color, the red jacket, when Rory started to slightly open up to Lucifer. It was slight so she’s still in her darker color with black accents.
Then, we see her disappointment when Lucifer doesn’t show up to the fitting before the wedding. Her feelings of abandonment, and that her father doesn’t care about her, all come rushing back and the next time we see her she’s back in her black leather jacket.
Then, in 6x08 when we see her again she’s still in black. Still so very angry and hurt by Lucifer.
But then he shows her in a way that not even she could disprove that he TRULY cares about and LOVES her. He chooses to make himself vulnerable. For her.
“Of course it worked. You’re my daughter, and I love you.
Then we get 6x09/6x10:
We see Rory having a blast with her dad, playing around, indulging in the things they love, and spending quality time as a family.
In all of these scenes she’s wearing a bright yellow jacket.
Bright YELLOW.
The color of the sun, of light, of happiness.
She truly believes that her father loves her. She may not understand why he left her yet, but she knows and feels his love and how much she means to him and this gives her a sense of peace and comfort.
This use of color progression paralleling her emotional progression is absolutely beautiful to me.

Brettsey Appreciation Week
Day 1: Favorite Episode(s): 9x15 & 9x16
I finally feel as though I am in a place where I can express my thoughts about Brettsey getting together and figured there was no better time than Brettsey appreciation week!
Warning: long post ahead
9x15: A White-Knuckle Panic
Tumblr media
THIS SCENE. We had BTS pics from this scene weeks before the episode aired and many of us thought it might be Matt confessing his love to Sylvie. I definitely fell into that boat but let me tell you this scene was so much better than I could have ever imagined.
Not only did Matt finally find his words, he made sure that he was absolutely and undeniably clear with them. He refused to let her walk away assuming that the conversation with Gabby was great for any other reason than giving him that final clarity about HER. About moving on with her. He also didn’t just say “I love you, Sylvie” he said “in love with” and I love that so much. It leaves absolutely no room for misunderstandings or doubt about the intensity of his feelings for her.
Which then brings us to his next line, and the line that made the scene for me.
“Even if that doesn’t change anything for you, I needed you to know it.”
Guys. This is HUGE. And I honestly believe it was this that proved to Sylvie that she could trust his words. Every single relationship Sylvie has been in the men have always made her mold herself around them and/or their lives in one way or another. She has never been the one with the ball in her court. She’s never been the one to be put first. This season she finally put her foot down and said no more to that and I am so proud of her. She knew she deserved more and Matt finally gave that to her.
Matt truly and unselfishly wanted her to know that she was LOVED. That she was cared for. Even if she didn’t feel the same way. Sylvie has never had a man show her unselfish and devoted love in the way Matt does here. Which explains why she is speechless. He’s not begging her for another chance, he’s not giving an ultimatum, he’s simply and clearly telling her that no matter what she is LOVED by him.
Honestly this is one of the most beautiful Brettsey moments in my opinion.
9x16: No Survivors
Having to wait an entire week between these two episodes was TOUGH. But something in me knew that we’d get our Brettsey in the season finale. However, nothing could have ever prepared me for what actually happened. I think I’ve had the most difficulty expressing my thoughts on this episode because my brain just couldn’t comprehend what happened.
For starters, Matt completely spiraling out over Sylvie was one of the most adorable things I’ve ever seen. He didn’t tell her about his feelings expecting something in return, but this man is so in love he can’t help but look for her around every turn. He just wanted to know how she felt. Even if it wasn’t what he felt.
I don’t think we’ve ever seen Matt spin out like this over anyone else he’s been romantically involved with and to me that just shows the depth of his feelings for his Sylvie. And then, just when he’s finally surrendered to the fact that he has made things awkward again and made the decision to let this go once and for all, our beautiful girl shows up.
I just want to start by saying that I LOVE that this scene took place in the middle of the night at the firehouse. They had the privacy they needed but this confession happened in THEIR home. Where they grew closer, bonded over cases and patients, where she trusted him with the letter from her birth mom, where he supported her and watched her shine as PIC. I just LOVE that we got this scene and the love scene separate.
“We belong together”
She just jumps in headfirst with this line. it’s short and sweet but holds so much weight. This is her voicing out loud for this first time that everything she’s been feeling for years makes sense. That no matter what may be in their past they are meant for each other. They belong to one another. And he provides that assurance by simply stating “We do.” It wasn’t a question. He believed it just as much as she did and needed her to know it.
 “We’re right for each other”
This is her finally voicing that who they are as people, how they care so selflessly for others, makes them the perfect fit for each other and again he so simply confirms this for her.
“When you know, you know.”
Then finally she fully lets go. She fully embraces the undeniable connection, the fierce love she has for this man and lets go. She just KNOWS. So does he and it is just beautiful.
I so love that Matt gave her the time to voice these truths to him and that he gave her the reassurance she needed.
I also love that he didn’t need to hear her say the words. He was already walking towards her and kissed her before she could even get all of the words out. This man KNOWS that Sylvie Brett loves him. He’s seen it in the way she so selflessly puts him first. Something no one has done for him. He has been starved of her for months. Physically and emotionally. And now that she is finally telling him that she believes all the things about them that he does, he doesn’t need to hear the words. Yet she still manages to get most of them out before his lips are on hers and I absolutely love that she mirrored his words.
“I’m in love with you.”
There is no room for miscommunication. No room for doubt. These two beautiful humans are in love with each other. Belong to each other. Are right for each other. And they both KNOW it.
I have so many feelings about their love scene. These two have had so much built up sexual tension and emotional investment in each other for so long. It would have been so easy for them to have just fallen into bed the first second they could, and who could blame them. But they didn’t. They took their time. They revealed in each others closeness. They danced. They took time to just BE in this beautiful bubble of pure and unselfish love that neither of them thought they would ever find.
Even when they moved to the bedroom, he took his time undressing her. And when they finally became one, they savored it. Holding tight to each other as the rest of the world fell away. it was just them loving each other so tenderly and completely.
The love these two have for each other runs so deep and is probably the most selfless love we’ve seen on the show.
Sylvie Brett finally got everything she ever wanted. Because it’s what she deserves.
Matt Casey finally has the love, partnership and connection he has always craved.
They both finally have the one person who will love them as deeply and as selflessly as they love the other.
The matching piece of the puzzle.
Always

Planning a Hell of a Wedding | ✓ asking for the parents’ offspring’s blessing
Drabble 01 / ?
Setting: Post s5, maybe post s6? (Works as a sequel to this fic.)
Word count: 440
Rating: G
Summary of the series: The Devil and the Detective make their way through the wedding planning checklist. One is more passionate about it than the other.
‘I can’t wait to tell Trixie.’ Chloe moves her hand a little against his chest, watching how the ring almost glows, even as the sun crawls lazily behind the horizon. ‘She’ll be ecstatic.’
‘Well, she was, yes,’ Lucifer tells her. His eyes are still twinkling with warm gold—have been so since the moment she said ‘yes’.
‘You already talked to her?’ She leans back in his embrace to get a better look at him and watches his eyebrows arch up in mock-indignation.
‘Did you really expect me to marry her mother without asking for her blessing first?’
For the third time since Lucifer has been down on one knee in the sand, Chloe feels tears welling up in her eyes against her will.
‘What did she say?’ she asks, curious, voice a little shaky.
‘“Took your time.”’
They both snort and chuckle.
‘Then she said she wouldn’t mind at all if I married you, because, according to your offspring, I make you happy.’ His eyes are soft with raw joy as he looks at her, and her heart soars.
‘You do,’ she whispers in confirmation, and if Lucifer notices the tear spilling onto her cheek, he doesn’t comment on it. His eyes haven’t been entirely dry either.
In fact, they’re a little damp now. She can’t blame him, though; in a lower voice, he tells her, ‘She also said she would love to officially have me as her step-Devil.’
Chloe laughs through the tears that are now falling freely down her face. For a second, Lucifer looks as if he might follow her, but he manages to compose himself, swipes his thumb across her cheeks, and adds with a slight smile, ‘She also offered to be my best man, but I sadly had to decline, since I already promised Maze the role. But I suppose the urchin would make a fine groomsman.’
Chloe raises an eyebrow, crossing her arms across her chest. (She doesn’t miss how Lucifer’s gaze flickers to the golden ring on her finger, nor how his heart seems to swell at the sight.)
‘What makes you think Trix would be on your side?’
He simply smirks at that. ‘Oh, darling, make no mistake; the little rascal has been on my side since the day she gave me your phone number.’
It’s true, but she refuses to give him the satisfaction of being right; she’s already stroked his ego enough for today by agreeing to spend the rest of her life with him. So instead of attempting at a witty comeback, she grabs his face and kisses him senseless.

Lucifer/Eve > Chloe/Pierce
I've seen people say that there are double standards between how people react to Lucifer/Eve vs Chloe/Pierce and I just wanna say something as someone who actually prefers Chloe as a character over Lucifer.
On paper, I didn't mind the Chloe/Pierce plot in S3 too much. Lucifer had been acting like a dick and kind of taking her for granted at the time so it was sort of satisfying to see him jealous and in pain over her for a little while. The problem though is how Chloe/Pierce were written. I didn’t understand why Chloe even liked him, let alone enough to accept a marriage proposal from him after they had only been dating for a short time. (Which was extremely ooc imo, and extra grating since we were barely granted Chloe POV throughout S3). I also don't really buy or understand when Pierce fell in love with Chloe outside of wanting the semblance of humanity that he saw Lucifer getting via his relationship with Chloe. I know Chloe ended up backing out of the engagement and that she later said the Lucifer was the reason she accepted the proposal in the first place AND the reason she backed out of it, but it was still very poorly executed imo.
Lucifer/Eve on the other hand, I understood. Lucifer was going through turmoil in S4 because of Chloe knowing about his true identity as the devil and being unable to accept it. Enter Eve, one of his past lovers who fully accepts his devil side, and you kind of understand why he would be tempted to move on from Chloe and be with her. There were obvious issues with Lucifer and Eve's relationship too ofc. While Eve accepted his devil side she seemed pretty reluctant to accept the human side he had developed since forming relationships in the mortal world, claiming that he was pretending to be someone he wasn't. And that's ultimately why their relationship wasn't going to work out in the long run. But I still understand why that relationship was appealing to Lucifer at the time.
Along with all that, even while Lucifer was with Eve, it was always pretty clear to me that he was still firmly in love with Chloe and was only with Eve because he thought he couldn't have Chloe. Whereas with Chloe/Pierce, there were a few times where I honestly questioned the writers' intentions with them.
Basically, Chloe/Pierce was poorly written and only created to cause contrived drama. Lucifer/Eve was better written and was clearly used as a narrative stepping stone to Deckerstar. (Also Eve, unlike Pierce, was actually very likable as a character. So there's that too lol).
