lmao sure king, i know youre probably thinking of the "criticisms of eddsworld" post that i had in my drafts but i need to finish that. instead so nobody is hungry, ill post the script of me "the end of the eddsworld discord server" here and honestly i have always felt safer here. i left twitter because of certain people and certain feelings. mental health is shit and my paranoia is shitter.

The End of the Eddsworld Discord Server

Well- Cuts to - yes im using the dementia music, this video was supposed to come out before or even close after the closure of the server. Stuff happened and I’m tired. Please excuse what I say that may not matter anymore. I just want to get a video out and it starts by pushing this. ZZZZZZZZ. Happy Halloween or Christmas honestly it could be either.

I suppose it was going to happen at some point, it’s finally the end of the eddsworld discord server. Well expect for the patrons, they still get to do whatever lol. If you’re not in the loop, eddsworld had a discord server, to sum it up it was a place to converse with fellow edd-heads and well isn’t amino. But of course, it doesn’t come out with its own flaws. I mean there was a whole twitter account to showing the weird side of it. It’s over, the eddsworld discord is dead. Whatever the fuck all this is, is gone. Originally this was going to be made a few days before the closure of the discord but I got busy. Busy to the point where the discord server closed like a month ago [THAT’S SO FUNNY SKALULI ITS BEEN EVEN MORE MONTHS] and I’ve only started this script now. It’s called poor time management, don’t be me. [AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA] So, let’s just attempt to bullet point this stuff. Also warning now, I might not have screenshots of everything and I can’t get anything else because well paywall, and even if I did pay, I don’t even know if the original chat still exists. AAAAAA, anyway. I guess I shall start with the “paywall”. So as you know or maybe didn’t or didn’t hear what I said before, the eddsworld server technically didn’t close, just to access the chats and stuff you have to be a patron. But listen kings we get the bloody announcements and twitter feed, yeAHHH. Ahem. Some questions being asked were along the lines of, well why didn’t you just make a separate patron server. Therefore, people not paying still get a somewhere to talk to other eddsworld fans under moderation. Of course, many questions like that and more being asked because well this kinda came out of nowhere. One of the issues is the fact that nobody was answering any of the questions being asked. Avoiding it essentially. Saying things out of the blue, I assume to try and calm the scenario that was created.

Which well got people angry, because well they have a reason to, and you can not deny that. But the thing is the anger got so out of hand that people just started death threating mods. A big note I have to make is that the mods, the crew of which is not Chris or Matthew, and or any of the pateron supporters had a choice in this. They most likely didn’t even know it was coming. You shouldn’t death threat mods and not even just mods just other patreon supporters. [I don’t have screenshots of this but im going by word of someone who said that that was happening to them.] You don’t need me telling you this, it’s basic knowledge. But you do know why they’re doing it though. Because what do you expect by suddenly taking a once-free community and putting a pay-wall over it. Of course people are going to be upset and lash out, even to these extremes. Yes the mods don’t deserve to get treated like this, but they’re getting treated that way by the fans in this case because of what you did. You being Chris and or Matthew. And you yourself not answering on behalf of mods. Leaving themselves having to speak for themselves on a situation that they had no control over. Having to dose the fires of a fire they didn’t even start. An issue being said that the server was getting to out of hand, so it’d just be easier to do what they did [kill the server]. But then why don’t you just hire more mods to manage the community you created? Who knows.

Also not to put my own opinion in here but I kept seeing messages being like “Edd wouldn’t have wanted this” what the fuck. No offense but don’t say that, never say that. Stop. Just pretty please don’t try to speak on behalf on a man that’s been dead for over a decade and act like you would know what he would have wanted. Sorry for the tangent just I see this happening when whatever happens and kids commenting “Edd wouldn’t have wanted this.” Please shush.

Listen I hate kids, I know they can be dumb as shit, I mean after just hearing all that especially. But also, at the end of the day I care about them and if they like and feel safe in the hell of the eddsworld server than you shouldn’t take it away from them. I understand that fan servers are being made but oh god my paranoia of something going wrong since it doesn’t have “trusted moderation” I’m not sure how to put it. It was really only the official safe space to communicate with other eddheads. I just worry that there will be some with ill intentions. I think you can allow me to think that at this point.

And to end it all off, you know how the server’s purpose was just to keep patron content to patrons.

Damn that sure did work.

[Note I didn’t write this “now” I wrote this a few days after I mashed this script together.] Okay originally the script ends there on a somewhat snarky remark but while pacing I thought about how I want to make sure my point gets across. I make these videos to help and not harm, by saying that I mean there seems to be a lack of communication between the fans and the crew. And personally, myself I want to try and make a bridge between the two, my own attempts being to show each side and see everything through a different view. Not only I criticize the fans because I want them to improve, I criticize eddsworld because I want the same out of them. Neither is better than the other.

sort of related to my previous post about not connecting new characters to preexisting ones, I think the issue with adding SO many new side characters comes from fundamentally misunderstanding why those characters became popular in the first place

(it's under a read more because it became..longer than expected LOL)

Side characters like laurel or bing and larry, the rejects are beloved because they ..well, felt like characters, as simple as they might be - and they had memorable roles and character designs to along with them

Background characters are a weird phenomenon, of course, because it's silly to fall in love with a character who only spoke 2 times (talking to myself in the mirror here) but- I personally believe that happens for the same reason why side characters get popular- cool character designs and the possibility of being part of a bigger plot / being developed (the pilots and yuu have that going on when you think about it). Usually bg characters don't become popular unless they have some kind of connection to a main character, in the case of the aforementioned pilots it's their connection to Tord / Red Leader

Beyond is ...basically trying to do what the fandom does but in an inorganic way, almost forced in some sense: Trying to introduce side characters they think Might be interesting for the audience, thinking they might be a hit, but it comes off as awkward (look at the blonzie? stuff) ...because well- why are we supposed to care those guys? And why is the staff / episode pushing so hard for the fandom to care about them? Do we have a reason to care about the bullies when the neighbors already exist? Or that one scientist when the evil director has the same role?

Not to say it never worked with any character, I mean it SORTA worked with Dan and Honey Piper but even then, it seemed more like those were pushed by the staff rather than the fandom actually giving them importance and letting them become popular - that's why I said inorganic beforehand lol

The best comparison I always bring up is deltarune and the addisons, they became popular because of the connection with spamton (namely pink and blue), not because some outside force was pushing them to become popular and to care about them in the first place

I DUNNO where I'm going with this weird ass rant I promise, I'm just saying that they want something like the next Paul and Patryck without remembering why those two became popular in the first place (bait)

Oh, btw, the adding characters thing beyond has going on shares the same issue with cartoons that continue for too much long have. introducing new characters to keep things "fresh", but without developing them, changing the status quo in the worst way possible or replacing characters that already had the same role for some reasons (think of the fairly oddparents for example)

I get that maybe they're trying to add more characters to make the world feel "alive", but when you're focusing on characters that only appeared once and people haven't really attached to the whole thing falls kinda flat, I guess

I can't quite put my finger on it but something seems... oddly familiar about all of this. It's exactly the fucking same, they even hunt down the main character as ENEMY NUMBER ONE and have a hunch of hot women with ugly hair cuts protecting him.

You know what the really sad part is tho? Tbatf was still better than this episode.

I'm sorry that it's taking me a long time to make this, I kept getting sick this month, I was going to post this days ago, but I couldn't. I'm going to post this now! Red Leader is Mama in this (I changed em to Red Leader instead of Tord.) I kept the Tomme Bear and child Tom idea. My writing will be horrible, but you can't stop me. Tom was unaware of what he would end up dealing with. He should have waited until Christmas, why? Oh, it's because he is being chased around his house by this, 'Papa'. The giant stupid teddy bear in a uniform, ripped up face and all, that thing is claiming to be a 'Red Leader' or whatever that means, he also has to deal with Tomme Bear wanting food and to be brushed for the seventh time, this feels horrible, who created a bear just for it to want food?! He wished his parents would just, reappear, from wherever they went! He hasn't seen them since he woke up. Tom wasn't paying much attention until he literally hit himself into a wall with Tomme Bear in hand. He didn't think life would just throw a military bear at him, he just noticed the missing arm, that doesn't help much. Especially with that scary red eye. "Now it's time to put all the children to bed." That was the last thing he heard before that thing jumped at him. . . POV change. Red Leader had done exactly what he needed to; the child is asleep. He destroyed the enemies in the 'parent's bedroom'. Something is wrong, there are no superiors, he's going to have to protect the child until the superiors get here, he has started to hope not, his data suggests he is the only part of the Red Army, thus, is he the superior here? If he is then, he must bring the child somewhere safe. He WILL bring the child somewhere safe.

Random doodles I did from yesterday. The regular Eddsworld Gang + my take on the opposite day au:

I remember when I was like in the fandom, that au spread around a lot but I remember not really liking Edd’s personality and design so I tweaked him in like 2017 and then expounded on him around 2021. But here he is !! I then kinda grew tired of Opposite Day Tord and Tom so I gave them new designs.

In my mind, This Opposite Day AU switches the character’s personalities, morals and all that aspects around. However, It keeps character dynamics the same so Opposite Tord and Tom still dislike each other.

Anyways, in terms of character personalities, they act like the way they acted in classic eddsworld, before Tord leaving for the big city. But like obviously not fully like them. Like they have their classic eddsworld traits but their likes and dislikes are still switched around with Edd and Tord hating bacon, Edd and Tom liking diet cola/Smirnoff, Matt hating himself. You know, all that kind of stuff. Like their traits in classic get expounded upon and branched out in this au i guess?

also like no offense if you like the original opposite day au :) this is just my take on it.

I need to apologize I need to take a break for a while I might occasionally post something Eddsworld related but yeah going to take a break I'm a very mentally ill person and sometimes during a mental breakdowns I do some not great things mostly just cry and wish death upon myself and tell people that they deserve so much better than me which sadly I still agree with I generally don't understand why anybody wants to do with me but they do the main reason why I wanted to take a break because of my disappointment in the team on Eddsworld

I don't dislike them but there's certain attributes about the team that I'm not a big fan of me and one of my friends agree that Matt's kind of seems a little greedy now I know especially one of my fans / friends will disagree and you know what she has the right to feel that way I like Matt but he's kind of seeming like he's a little greedy with certain things but that's just me no one's truly perfect I'm not a big fan though so they did the Yootuz thing with tord like the man just wants to be left alone you probably what about the end part 1 and 2 honestly yeah it's kind of the same thing but when it comes to that at least it actually has some married to it because without tord it really would have been the end.

Anyways here's my opinion about the crew the animators no issue with really honestly I like no issue with 90% of the crew the only ones I have an issue with is really just I think I'll have an issue with Matt possibly to be fair I can judge him completely though we truly don't know what's going on behind the scenes and I guess diei because I texted him and he has never responded for like 2 weeks and it really bothers me even though he said he's busy a lot but at this point I just gave up sorry that he doesn't like me or something.

Also another issue I have is Beyond's kind of slowly going downhill like the comedies kind of stretched out and honestly that's all it's more commercialized and it's ever been which that I'm nutshell isn't bad but the marketing is like so forced it's kind of annoying and honestly like Tom's voice actor like makes a kind of worse because it's like it's like such a marketing voice it's kind of sad but you know he's a good voice actor so I can't hate him too much now with all these criticisms towards the crew do I hate Eddsworld no do I need to take a break from them yes it does not help the fact I am still grieving over my father in my mental health is slowly decreased ever since his passing and I worry that I'm going to say something wrong so I should probably take a break.

That doesn't mean I'm completely done with Eddsworld forever though I think I'm forever stuck to it call me edd head addict if you will but I think it's time for me to step down for a little bit I hope you all be okay and understand it it might not be a long break to be honest cuz my attention spans like a nutshell so I don't know I do know one thing I'll never talk any of the Eddsworld members ever again Miuns if they want to talk to me or something which we all know they don't want to. But yeah um its edd day soo yeah im tried so gn

Something I've noticed that I find rather funny is how in a lot of fanart that takes place in the wtfuture time period (or at least, what you could assume is around that time), with the main 4 looking visibly older and being in their future designs, the pilots seem to not be one a older than when the snogre happened

They just don't age like the others I do I assume. Cursed to be forever in their 20s

Personally i'd rather be disgusted, offended, and angry than bored, so in my opinion the fan movie is the worst. No hate to anyone who likes any of these things though, i'm glad you liked something i didn't. I would feel worse picking on these projects if at least one of them didn't have some kind of huge cardinal sin against it, like dear starboy idolizing suicide or the best of both worlds weird incest/selfcest shit.
