MC x Jake

It was hard to love a hacker. Jake was a cyberactivist. He was committed to arresting criminals from the Dark Web. Because of his activities, he had several scars all over his body and was always on the run.

MC knew very well the risks he was taking when he fell in love with Jake, but he persisted in his intense love. He was a very honorable man with an extreme sense of responsibility. Jake believed he could save the world. His beloved hacker was a true hero.

Time showed new alternatives for the relationship to work out. It was not easy. MC faced days in hospitals, hectic escapes, sleepless nights, interrupted sex, threats, lost friendships, days of loneliness.

What could MC do? She could have chosen an ordinary man with an ordinary job, but she certainly wouldn't be happy.

Jake was her love. Her world.

Whenever the two of them met, they embraced each other effusively. The kisses tasted more intense because of the adrenaline.

A throbbing heat invaded their bones, their guts, their souls. How to exchange that whirlwind of feelings for an ordinary life?

That love was a road full of curves, but honestly, it was the most beautiful road of all.

A/N: Thank you for sending the request dear! I apologise for making you wait this long for it, and I hope you will somehow find it likeable! 💚

After his tenth call in the last fifteen minutes again went straight to her voice mail Jake curse out loud and throws his phone on the table with a desperate sigh. He was worried sick by now not knowing where Mc was.

Everything was fine when he left in the morning, and now, not even two hours later he was close to entering panic mode. When he got back the apartment was empty, she left no note or anything, and his every failed attempt in reaching her by calling resulted in that panic intensifying.

„Where are you?!?“ he almost cries out nervously pacing around. But when his gaze fell on the screen of his laptop he stops in the spot and his eyes widen. In an instant everything was clear to him, and he shakes his head with a chuckle „You silly girl.“

He knew exactly where he will find her. Quickly walking to his laptop, with a few clicks he prints out the document that was open on it and without any more thoughts grabs his keys and rush out of the apartment.

„You got some nerves showing up here!“ Jessy's tone was like ice when she opened her doors and the look she gave him was deathly.

„Please, Jessy, just let me talk to her, she got it all wrong!“ Jake says and takes a step to try to walk past her, but Jessy block the door with her body „Hell no! I'm not letting you anywhere near her!“

„Oh, for the love of it!“ he breaths out irritated and reach for the folded paper in his pocket „Here.“

Jessy defiantly cross her arms at her chest with no intention to take it and raise an eyebrow at him, making him roll his eyes „Just take it and check it, will you?.“

„Fine!“ she snaps and snatch the paper from his hands and starts to unfold it. A short moment later her eyes widen „Uh-oh.“

„Uh-oh indeed.“ Jake repeats and she lifts her head from the paper to look at him. „Think you can let me in now so I can talk to her and clear this thing up?“ Nodding, she moves sideways to let him pass „Bathroom, down the hall, second door on the right.“

He hastily walks past her and stop in front of the bathroom doors. Reaching for the knob he turns it and slowly stars opening them „Mc? It's me.“ He barely managed to open the doors a little when she slammed them with such force from her side, pushing him backwards, his back hitting the wall behind him.

„What the... Mc, what are you doing?“ he raise his voice a little after composing himself and reach back for the knob. But this time the doors don't budge. „Mc, unlock the doors.“

„No!“ she yells back from the other side „Leave me alone!“

„Mc, come on, it's not how you think! Please, can you open the doors so we can talk?“

„There's nothing to talk about, I understand perfectly!“

„No, Mc, you really don't. Please, open the doors, I feel silly taking to you like this.“

„You feel silly? You?“ she yells from the bathroom „And how do you think I feel after – after – what I saw?“

He didn't need to see her to know that she started crying, which just made him more determined to get her to open the doors „Mc, please don't cry. Just, come out and talk to me.“

„Why?“ her crying voice sounds back „So you can tell me to my face that you're leaving me?“

„Mc, that's – it's not like that.“

„Ha, you don't even have decency to admit it! Screw you, Jake!“

„I – I...“ he starts, but he didn't know what to say anymore. He just moves from the door until his back hit the wall behind him and slides down on the floor.

All this time, Jessy stood silently and motionless by the front doors, but when she saw Jake desperately sliding with his back down the wall to the floor, she couldn't stand it any longer, she had to help the poor man.

She hastily strides to the bathroom doors and drops down on her knees, sliding that paper she was still holding under the doors „Mc, honey, can you do me a favore and check this, please?“

„I saw this already, Jessy! Don't tell me you're taking his side now?!“ Mc yells back after a few seconds.

„I know you did, honey. But, just check it again, will you? Do it for me, ok? Just – just read it really, really carefully this time, all right?“ Jessy turns her look towards Jake and lifts her hand to show him her fingers crossed before moving to sit and lean on the wall next to him.

There was no sound coming from the bathroom for a long time after that, and that made Jake feel on edge. He knew how stubborn she can be when her mind is made up on something, and he was afraid that she won't listen to Jessy either and just continue to believe that what she thought she saw was correct.

Suddenly, there was the sound of doors unlocking and both Jake and Jessy excitedly jump back up on their feet but don't dare to move from their spot. And when Mc finally opened the door and showed her face, his heart sank so low at seeing her puffy and red eyes.

She looks at him and sniffs „Uhm, so, there's two plane tickets? Not one?“

He smiles softly and takes a small step towards her „Ofcourse it's two tickets, silly. If you only scrolled a bit down you would have seen that right away.“

„So I was wrong? You're not leaving?“

„No, you weren't wrong, I am leaving.“ he says and she frowns „But – but I thoug..“ but he cuts her off „And I was hoping that you would come with me.“

She falls silent at his words and her face looked so confuesd, he chuckles and takes another step closer taking her hands in his „Let me finally explain it to you, all right?“ he offers and she nods in agreement. Taking a deep breath, he looks her straight in the eyes and smile „I'm going home, Mc.“

His words got her breath caught half way, and she watched how his eyes started to shine with some special glow she never saw until now before he continued talking.

„After so many years of running and hiding, I am a free man, Mc, and I can finally go back home. I feel excited about it like a little kid, but at the same time it scares the shit out of me. I have no clue what will wait for me there, and there's only one thing that could help me feel so much less scared in doing so.“

„And what's that?“ she asks with a trembling voice.

„To have you right there beside me to hold my hand.“

She could barely keep the tears from falling – how could she be so stupid to even think that he would leave her. And when she felt one tear finding its way out and rolling down her cheek, she throw her arms around his neck and pulls him in a tight hug, hiding her crying face into his neck „I am so, so sorry for ever doubting you and thinking you would leave me. I'm such a fool.“

He chuckles closing his arms around her „Might be, however you're my fool and I love you nonetheless.“

She manages a small laugh at his comment, before she feel his hands moving to her side and moving her away from him so he could look at her. „But you still didn't give me an answer.“ he says looking intense at her „So, what do you say, will you go with me?“

She smiles through her tears „Ofcourse I will go with you. And I will hold your hand the whole way.“

„Thank you.“ he breaths out and pulls her back to him kissing her so fiercly and passionately, she could feel the extent of his gratitude and relief with her answer in the kiss that no words could possibly describe better.

And although he was extremely happy and excited that he could once again after so long go back to the place he called home all his life, he realised, right in this moment, with Mc in his embrace, that he already was.

Duskwood is Calling (SNEAK PEAK)

A/N: Hi friends, hello. Here's the start of the novelization I talked about a while back. This is just the intro to the first chapter, so think of it almost as a prologue, if that makes sense. Obviously spoilers through chapter 10 of the game, so don't read if you're avoiding those. Anyways. Here it is:

You don’t know how you got here. Not really.

If they asked you- everyone, all of them, Thomas and Cleo and Dan and Lilly and Jessy and Hannah and-

And not Jake. Not Jake, because Jake was stuck in the mines. Stuck with Richy, and the fire, and the unstable mineshafts and the dark and the cold and-

“(Y/N).” Alan breaks you from your train of thought. “(Y/N), I’m sorry. But I need to ask you a few questions about tonights events.” You nod. “How did you get here?”

I don’t know, you think. “I took a train.” You answer, because Alan means ‘What was your mode of transportation to Duskwood?’ and not ‘How did you come to know these people so intimately that thier loss has shattered something deep inside you?’

“I took the earliest train I could get out of Grand Central Station to Duskwood.” You pause, thinking of the frantic way you’d run to the ticket booth, of how the minutes it took to get your ticket felt like hours, and how the couple of hours on the train itself felt like eons. “It was only a few hours.” You continue, “I didn’t tell the others I was coming. They didn’t know until-” You gesture vaguley, still not comfortable acknowleding the nights events outloud.

“You didn’t tell any of them?” It seems to have genuinely shocked him, and that, in turn, surprises you. “Not Jessy, or Thomas?” You shake your head. “Why?”

“I didn’t want to worry them.” You shrug. “After everything else with Richy, and you finding Hannah, I didn’t-” You swallow against the lump in your throat. “I didn’t want them to worry about someone else being in danger.”

“But someone else was in danger, (Y/N).” Your eyes close against the harsh truth of the words, and you force yourself not to respond. “Jake Donfort was in danger.”

“I don’t know who that is.” You lie. You open your eyes again. Sitting before you is still Chief of Police Alan Bloomgate, this time looking much more sympathetic. He nods. “I don’t, Alan. I don’t know who Jake Donfort is.”

“I believe you, (Y/N).” He pauses, making sure to hold your eye contact. “I think that’s all we need from you, now. End of interview.” The click of the recorder puncuated the following silence. You stare at Alan in confusion.

“What-”

“You should get some rest, (Y/N).” He fixes you with a stern look. “You’ve had an emotional night.” You nod. “Do you have somewhere to stay?” You nod again, though this time it’s a lie. You didn’t think about what would happen after the mines. You didn’t think about anything but getting to Jake. “Miss Hawkins is outside.”

That grabs your attention. “Jessy is here?” Alan nods, collecting the files and paperwork from the interrogation table in front of you. “I’ve been told she refused to leave when she learned you were being detained for questioning.” You manage a small laugh. “She’s worried. Perhaps you should stay with her tonight. I’m sure the motel will keep your booking.” And something in his voice tells you he knew you were lying.

“Yeah, thanks.” You agree, finally standing from your chair. It bothers you, though. The fact that he didn’t push you about Jake. About knowing him. “Detective Bloomgate-”

“It doesn’t matter, (Y/N).” He cuts you off again. “No one could have-” He pauses, seeming to think over his words. “I’m sorry. But no one could have survived that fire. And even if he could, those shafts were unstable before the fire. I can’t imagine thier state now.” He shakes his head, sighing to himself. “I’m sorry. I truly am. But he’s gone. It doesn’t matter if you knew him on record or not. Jake Donfort is dead.”

He’s right, and you know it, but you don’t understand. You can’t understand how this could be happening.

I don’t know how I got here.

Look what you made me do

Chapter 34 collage for my Duskwood fic is hidden below, along with something else. Giving Manon's theme song for the chapter here in case the collage spoils anything. I’m unsure if it does because I write the story, so I can’t really tell. I’m happy as a pig in shite that I'm finally writing the fun stuff🤭

Nearly at the end now. Holy fucking gods. Ignore me. I’m crying, dancing, and screaming that I’m done with this chapter. It will go up today! I could leave these in my drafts but I hate seeing things waiting in there, so you get to be annoyed by them instead 🥰😂❤️
