Never yours to fix
Alessia Russo x mum!reader
Warnings: angst absent parent, fluff
As a child you dreamed of being a mum, it was something your parents often talked about you constantly carrying your baby doll a girl you had named Gina.
Although you had dreamed of being a mum you never expected it to happen so soon but after your boyfriend knocked you up at the age of 19 you knew no matter what you would love every moment of it. And you did well mostly, you loved the moments it was just you and Teddy or the moments you shared with your family, you hated the moments she would sit watching the door for her Dad to decide he wanted to spend time with her, the moments she cried into your arms stating “daddy not love me.” The moments he cancelled last minute or didn’t show up at all.
Teddy’s heart had been broken so many times that you often felt like you failed her, you hadn’t not by a long shot you where the best mum a 21 year old could be, Teddy was loved and cared for and you made sure she didn’t have to worry about ever feeling hungry..well your dad did after he got you a job in his company but still it was you there to laugh with her when she was her happiest and hold her when she was at her saddest which was more frequent these days after her Dad found himself a new girlfriend. Being caught up in making sure Teddy was loved and happy you often neglected it for yourself but you couldn’t possibly bring in a new person to your life scared Teddy would get attached and then become even more heartbroken when it eventually turned bad. That was until you met her.
Teddy was staying with your parents while you and your brother attended Manchester United vs Newcastle at Old Trafford, since you where kids both you and your brother held season tickets and although you still bought it you hadn’t used yours in two since having your daughter. Seats picked right beside the directors box at the Bobby Charlton stand you both got comfortable catching up.
You both sat with batted breath as you watch the boys in red try tirelessly to defend sighing and dropping your head in disappointment turning when you heard a laugh, eyes catching two girls sat beside you. The brunette turned before locking eyes with you and smiling sheepishly hitting the blonde girl beside her “sorry, it’s not funny I know but if I don’t laugh I’ll cry.” It was your turn to laugh before nodding “that’s understandable haven’t seen them preform as good as they should be since I was a kid if I’m being honest but once a red always a red so I’ll keep coming.” The girls smiled at you “I’m Y/n and this is my brother Jamie.” The brunette smiled “I’m..” Jamie laughed “oh we know who you are best number seven for United and Alessia the traitor.” You thumped Jamie’s arm at the last part “sorry ignore him he wishes he was half as decent as you Alessia.” The girls laughed as the whistle sounded for half time “right my turn to buy drinks.” You dragged your brother up before turning to the girls “you guys coming “oh no we…”. You smiled “come on it’s on me please.” The both nodded standing before following you to the drinks stand.
Arriving back to your seats Ella was pulled away spotting a family friend so Alessia had decided to take her seat beside you as you both struck up a conversation “so how long have you been a United fan for.” You shrugged thinking “god don’t think I can remember but my entire life really, Dads a red used to live by Busby way as a kid then he met mum, Mum moved from Ireland when she was 22 they met shortly after in the Stretford end actually, got married and when the business did well moved to Hale had My brother then me and the rest is history.” Alessia smiled at your little story “sorry just realised I told you my entire life story.” Alessia laughed nah it’s all good “I’m a red as well although I grew down south, my Dad is a massive fan. My brothers and I followed after him my mum she isn’t really into it but she’ll watch if I’m playing.” You smiled “that’s really cute.” You both continued talking not even realising the final whistle had blown until Jamie shuck your shoulder “ready.” You looked around “oh, well I best be off it was really nice to meet you Alessia.” You stood slowly smiling at the girl as Alessia shot from her seat “wait, I’d ehm well I…you don’t have to.. I mean I don’t even know if this is what your into…oh god spit it out… would you like to go out with me tomorrow.” You looked at her surprised “like a date.” Alessia nodded “yeah…I had a really nice time with you and I would love to do it again if you are free.” You stood thinking before turning to Jamie “I got T don’t worry.” You smiled great fully “I’d love to here out your number in.”
It was your second date when you finally told Alessia about Teddy. “I really like you and before this goes any further I need to tell you something.” Alessia grabbed your hand across the table “breath Y/n.” You looked at her eyes wide in worry “I have a daughter, Teddy..she ehm she’s two and my entire world and listen I understand if this is all to much for you and before you get up and leave just know I have had the best time with you these past few weeks.” Alessia let go of your hand eyes wide in shock “Teddy.” You nodded head dropping slightly “oh my god that is the cutest name ever have you got photos oh when can I meet her, does she have a favourite show, favourite princess, does she like football tell me everything.” You looked at her in shock before bursting into tears as Alessia got up to move beside you “oh shit Y/n I’m sorry.” You shook your head “no I’m sorry I god it’s just I love her so much and I was so scared of telling you in fear you wouldn’t like me anymore because I really like you.” You spent the rest of the night show Less videos of Teddy and telling her all about her and Alessia found herself falling fast watching your eyes sparkle as you talked about your daughter buzzing in anticipation to meet her.
A month after Alessia finally asked you to be her girlfriend you decided it was time to introduce her to Teddy so you invited Alessia around for lunch “hey baby remember Mummy has someone special coming to visit today Teddy hummed focused on playing with her toys “I know your my best girl but I need you to promise me you will be good.” Teddy looked up eyes big “I promise I good girl Mama.” You smiled spreading your arms “ok come give me a hug and a kiss.” Teddy ran over smiling wrapping her little arms around you before wiggling out to go back to playing. Shortly after the doorbell rang and your nerves spiked at the thought of Alessia actually being here.
You opened the door smiling softly as she pulled you in for a hug “hi gorgeous.” You pulled back kissing her cheek before asking “ready.” Alessia nodded excitedly “so ready I’m absolutely buzzin to meet her.” You laughed pulling her in hands locked together “Hey T can you come here a second there is someone I want you to meet.” Teddy threw her toys down jumping up from the floor and raced towards you putting her hands in the air “up mama.” You smiled letting go of Alessia’s hand picking her up as she rested her head on your chest “hey love this is the person I was telling you about, her name is Alessia can you say hi.” Teddy looked at the blonde studying her before smiling “hi lessia I Teddy.”you looked at the older girl smiling as she laughed “hi Teddy your so pretty aren’t you.” It was Teddy’s turn to laugh before she reached over for Alessia’s hair “hair like Punzle.” You smiled nodding “yeah Alessia does have hair like Rapunzle.” Teddy lifted her head getting more comfortable with your girlfriend “you a princess.” Alessia smiled shaking her head “Alessia plays football she’s not a princess.” Teddy’s eyes widened as a smile took over her face “I love football, like my mama and uncle jam and Grandpa.” Alessia smiled as Teddy wiggled letting you know she wanted to be put down before she grabbed Alessia’s hand “I show you I show you.” You nodded at the older girl “go I’ll start lunch.”
It’s safe to say the first meeting was a hit Alessia ended up staying until well after Teddy went to bed your daughter the happiest you had seen her in awhile “oh god Y/n she’s amazing, really amazing and she absolutely adores you.” You smiled resting your head on Alessia’s shoulder as you watched the tv “well I can say the same about you I think today might be her favourite out of the year, you made her laugh more today then I have been able to these last few weeks.” Alessia squeezed you tightly “if you’ll let me I would love to spend more time with the both of you. You’re my girlfriend, I care about you a lot and I care about her a lot too, I don’t plan on leaving, that is unless you want me to but we’ll from the moment I met you at Old Trafford I couldn’t help the butterflies and I don’t ever want them to stop.” You smiled pulling her into a kiss “I’d love nothing more than for you to stick around.”
You and Alessia fell into a routine something you had asked for as to not get Teddy all mixed up. Alessia face timed on the nights she wasn’t up in Manchester which at the start was frequently as she lived in London but after the first night she stayed over and how happy Teddy was afterwards it happened more frequently, so Sunday nights Alessia traveled to yours and would be there when Teddy awoke the next morning she would leave then Monday night and be back Wednesday night and Thursday night before heading back down to do it all over again.
That happened without a hiccup for a few weeks until your ex decided he wanted to start seeing Teddy again, you had forgotten to tell Less that Teddy was at her dads on the Wednesday and you definitely didn’t miss the disappointment on her face when she came through the front door waiting on the 2 yr old to jump at her only to be met with silence “sorry darling, I completely forgot Mickey came to get her this morning he’s back on his “I love my daughter and want to see her” phase again but she’ll be home tomorrow.” Alessia nodded “oh ok, we’ll how about we go out for dinner then.” You smiled kissing her softly “ok sounds good.”
That happened for three more weeks until you where sat at dinner laughing about Alessia being clumsy like always when your phone rang “sorry Less it’s Mickey let me get it.” You stood up walking away from the table answering your phone before you rushed back 5 minutes later “hey hey Y/n what’s going on.” You picked up everything taking out the money for the meal “it’s Teddy, Mickey never picked her up from my parents house I have to go get her I’m really sorry less I have to go get her.” Alessia shook her head “hey it’s ok let me drive yeah we will both go get her.” You smiled at her taking her hand as you both left to get your daughter.
You raced up the driveway Alessia following after you as you knocked on the door, before looking at your dad “where is she.” Your Dad stepped aside as you walked through the house finding your daughter cuddled up to your brother hiccuping “hey Pumpkin.” Teddy’s head shot up at the sound of your voice “Mama.” You kneeled down in front of her “oh baby I’m so sorry.” Teddy crawled off Jamie’s lap before wrapping herself around you “No Daddy.” You dropped your head sighing “I’m sorry baby.” Teddy lifted her head seeing Alessia standing behind you putting her hands out for the Blonde as you passed her over “no daddy Less.” Alessia looked at you trying to work out what to say “I’m sorry T.” Teddy began playing with Alessia’s hair “you stay.” Alessia nodded “I’m staying as long as you want piccola Stella.” Teddy’s little chin began to wobble “no go stay.” Alessia nodded “I promise it’s ok I’m staying.” Teddy began crying feeling overwhelmed.
Alessia was there for Teddy and you after that more so then she had been, she left London earlier to spend more time in Manchester with you both and often stayed longer then she was allowed to with training, but she didn’t care “Teddy needs me, you need me, I’ll stay as long as I have go to make sure she isn’t going to bed crying over that idiot who doesn’t deserve her.” You cried into her arms that night.
A few months later Mickey fell back into his phase only this time Teddy was an awful lot more reluctant to go with him stating “no stay, stay with Mama and Lessia no go Daddy.” Mickey wasn’t to happy about that often screaming down the phone at you stating “how dare you take my daughter away from me you and that bitch blonde.” You hung up on him only for him to come banging on the door. You turned at the noise before looking at Teddy “hey Pumpkin you stay here ok I have to go answer the door Less will be here shortly ok.” Teddy nodded watching the TV. Opening the door stood Mickey “where is she.” You sighed “she doesn’t want to see you.” Mickey shook his head “bullshit she’s two she can’t make up her own mind over what tutu to wear, I won’t ask again Y/n where is she.” You moved slightly as her tried to push past you “for the sake of our daughters happiness im sorry Mickey but no, you do this every few weeks, you get this itch to spend time with her like you’re supposed to and then you push her to the side when you get fed up, she is a two year old child not a toy you can’t keep doing that to her, her tiny heart breaks every time and I’m tired of trying to tell her you love her when you clearly don’t and she is starting to realise.” Mickey pushed you back into the hall “Fuck you she is my kid, you can’t keep her from me TEDDY ITS DADDY LETS GO.” Teddy stood up from the couch running to the door peaking out “hey T.” Teddy shook her head “not my name.” Mickey looked at her confused “yeah it is.” Teddy shook her head again “only Mama and Less allowed not daddy.” Mickey looked at you anger sparking in his eyes “what but I’m your Daddy.” Teddy nodded “yeah but Daddy not love me, Mama and Less love me.” Mickey turned to you “what bullshit have you been feeding her, how…how dare you turn her against me, I’m taking you to court you bitch you can’t keep her from me.” Mickey had you pushed against the wall now as Teddy began to cry, just on time Alessia came through the door “I’d take your hands off her if I where you Mickey.” Teddy ran past you both to Alessia putting her hands up as Alessia lifted her up “you should go.” Mickey shook his head “I’m not leaving without my daughter.” Teddy ducked her head into Alessia neck “yeah you are, your not taking her like this, especially not when you are this angry so I won’t ask again leave, take a few days and when you have calmed the hell down try it again in a nicer manner.” Mickey stepped forward but you stopped him placing your hand on his chest “you have broken her heart enough Mickey, don’t make her fear you as well.” Mickey stopped looking at Teddy “I’m sorry baby, I’ll see you soon.” Mickey walked out after that as you looked at your daughter crying in Alessia’s arms.
Sighing you placed Teddy in bed kissing her head before stepping back into Alessia’s arms. “You ok amore mio.” You nodded “I love you.” Alessia froze for a minute before pulling you closer “I love you too.” You turned facing her “I never got to thank you.” Alessia looked at you confused “for what Y/n.” You looked back at Teddy’s sleeping form “we where….we where never yours to fix but you have, I was so scared of love until I met you and Teddy never knew love like yours existed until she met you, you have made us both the happiest girls in the world these past few months and you have eased my worries…I feared she would cry watching the door every day for the rest of her life for her father to love her like she deserves but you…you have loved her since I told you about her in the restaurant and I know she will never have to worry about being heart broken by you, that she will never have to sit watching the door for you..so thank you for fixing what was never yours to fix but loving us both enough to do it.” Alessia smiled pulling you into a kiss “I would do it again in a heartbeat.” You kissed her pulling her impossibly closer. “I love you.” You smiled “we love you too.”

It was another day with your group of friends. Han and Lee Know to seek drinks as you and Soyeon stay seated at the booth you’re at.
You were in a tight, spaghetti strap, dress while Soyeon was in a tight tube top with leather pants which you know will be hard to get out of at the end of the night.
The four of you run a business where you vlog at different places. Normally festivals and clubs. It’s a good source of income for you guys and a great way to enjoy yourselves.
Today, a club has offered VIP treatment all on the house if you left good reviews for them and of course, being young adults, you just had to say yes.
Han walks over holding four shots across his two hands as Lee Know follows with our drinks.
“Your Cosmo my lady” Lee Know winks as he sits next to you.
You take a sip of your drink as Lee Know throws his arm around your shoulder.
As much as you enjoy Lee Know’s warmth, you’ve had growing feelings for your best friend Han. It only got harder and harder to hide these feelings.
Han and you hit it off straight away in high school, and now that you’re both somehow lucky enough to study in the same university, it has made it 10x harder to not notice him.
He’s such an outgoing character and admittedly, you got jealous seeing him dancing with other girls at events like these.
You notice Han staring at Lee Know beside you and Lee Know turns to you with a mischievous smirk. “Care to dance?” He asks.
Not thinking much of it, you take his hand as Lee Know drags you to the colourful dance floor. You made sure to take lots of videos of everyone enjoying themselves and it wasn’t long until Soyeon and Han came with the shots for you guys.
As all four of you take shots you notice Lee Know and Han walk off again.
“What’s up with them?” You chuckle.
“Boy shit” Soyeon rolls her eyes still dancing beside you.
As the night continues on you find yourself sitting back at the booth with the group. Cups of all sizes and styles spread all over the table from all the drinking done tonight.
“Remember that one time when Han got his hand stuck in that tube?” Soyeon laughs as you all join in.
Han rolls his eyes “Shut up, that was embarrassing” he says lightly.
You condescendingly rub his arm “maybe next time you’ll think before you do”
By now it’s three a.m. and the four of you are definitely too drunk to drive.
“I’m calling an Uber” Lee Know says as you all nod in agreement
“One more drink?” Soyeon begs as she drags you to the bar. “I’ll get a mojito and she’ll have a vodka martini” Soyeon smirks at the bartender.
He gives you a quick grin noticing Soyeon’s flirtatious behaviour to which you respond with a shrug.
The bartender hands the two of you your drinks “Make sure she gets home safe” he chuckles as he does his duties to ensure you get home safe.
“Don’t worry, we’ve already called a lift” you respond as you walk to the booth where the boys are getting ready to leave.
“We have five minutes until the Uber arrives. Those drinks better be finished by then” Lee Know says.
Soyeon smirks, “don’t underestimate my skills,” she says as she begins to gulp down the drink.
You and Han share a glance knowing this was bad news. You share a small chuckle and you blush slightly tucking your hair behind your ear.
“Are you okay?” You ask as Soyeon's face flushes red from her actions.
You sip from your martini as Lee Know nods disapprovingly at Soyeon giving her a lecture that you all know she won’t remember.
“Let me help” Han smirks at you as he takes the martini out of your hand to drink from.
You blush at his action. Something about the way he looked (especially his jaw) in the fluorescent lighting couldn’t make you stop staring.
“Oi, enough flirting, we need to take Soyeon home” Lee Know interrupts as he helps Soyeon up.
The four of you were quick to go outside as the Uber came along, placing her in the backseat.
“Lee Know, you go home with her. I’ll take Y/N to mine” Han says.
Lee Know rolls his eyes but nods in agreement.
Han pulls out his phone to call the two of you your own Uber.
“You don’t have to take me to yours,” you say.
“It’s unsafe to send you home alone in this state, at this time of night”
You knew he was right as he opened the door to the Uber for you but a part of you couldn’t stop smiling from the way he cares about you. You enter the backseat and he follows behind you.
He puts his arm around your shoulder as he explains to the driver the location.
As the Uber drives, you nuzzle your face on Han’s neck. You can hear his breath deepens as his heart race.
“Y/n” He breathes softly
“Yeah, Hannie?”
He leans over your face slightly “Have I ever told you how pretty you are?”
“No…you don’t tell me shit” You chuckle, taking him by surprise.
“Well, I do find you pretty” he says leaning closer to your face.
“Don’t play with me” you say softly
“I would never do that to you” He whispers kissing your lips softly.
Without a second thought, you bring your hand up wrapping it around the back of his neck as your thumb gently strokes his cheeks.
You deepen the kiss slightly as your hand finds their way underneath his top collar.
“Wait till we get home” He chuckles as he leaves soft kisses on your jaw.
“Are you sure?” You smirk as your hand goes down to palm the bulge forming in his pants.
“I promise” He responds moving your hand softly away from his zipper.
You watch as he moves your hand gently to his lips and give it a soft kiss. It was intoxicating to watch as he kissed your rings and you could feel your face burn redder.
As the Uber comes to a stop you feel Han’s hand on your waist as he guides you to his apartment.
The second you enter it is like your dress has grown tighter as he softly pushes you against his door. He kisses your neck leaving a small trail of marks as he reaches your jaw.
“So quiet” He chuckles against your skin. “What happened to the girl who was teasing me in the car?”
You stay quiet, not knowing how to respond when it feels like only mumbles will come out.
“I was so jealous watching Lee Know wrap his arms around you, you know? The way he smirked at you-” He scoffs as he continues to leave soft kisses all over your neck.
“You were jealous?”
“Of course I was darling,” He says pulling away from your collarbone to look at you.
He chuckles watching your doe eyes process the words coming out of his mouth. He leans back to kiss you and you wrap your arms around his neck to deepen the kiss.
“I’m going to make sure to kiss you everywhere he’s touched you and more” he breathes between kisses as he taps the back of your thighs.
You wrap your legs around his waist as he takes you to his bedroom. He places you on his bed as he leans down to continue placing kisses all over you.
You lay on the bed using your elbows to support you as he moves your (already short) dress up.
A quiet groan leaves his mouth as his fingers hook your g-string.
“Fuck baby, who were you planning to get with?” He says teasingly only getting you wetter.
He starts kissing your inner thighs before shooting you a look to continue. As you nod a soft yes of consent he slowly starts lowering your g-string, going back to kissing your inner thigh.
“Fuck Hannie” you gasp softly as his lips come closer to your wet cunt.
His tongue starts dancing along your folds just before taking you into his mouth. His lips and tongue savour you insistently as his nose presses on your clit; all while a soft groan escapes from deep within him.
You squirm which only makes him hold your thigh still.
“Don’t make this harder than it needs to be Princess”
You can only whine in response with a soft nod as your hand slowly moves to the back of his head.
Feeling your hand in his hair, he increases the intensity of his actions, sucking harder on your sensitive nub while using his fingers to tease your entrance. His tongue circles your clit, occasionally moving to taste the sweet nectar that starts to seep from you.
Your legs are shaking slightly around his head as soft moans and gasps escape your lips.
“Mm’ close” is the only thing you can get out of your mouth before he unattached his lips from you, making a whine escape your mouth.
“Not yet baby” he smirks teasingly as he watches you squirm on the bed.
He lowers your dress strap as he slowly pulls your dress completely off, seeing your body on full display. He pulls your hands off when he hears his belt jingle from you trying to undo it.
“Desperate?” He hums as he watches you rub your thighs together to get any form of friction.
He gives your pussy a tap which causes your hips to buck. His teasing manners only cause you to grow wetter.
You watch him take off his top and take off his pants painfully slow. Your hands wander between your legs to rub circles but he was quick to stop it.
“Only me sweetheart” he says as his hand cups your wet cunt.
You grind against his palm, soft moans calling his name. Anything to even get him to supply you with release. Little did you know, he was as desperate as you as his boxer is stained from his precum.
You watch as he takes off his boxers, his tip teasing your entrance causing you to arch your back.
“Are you okay with this?” He asks in a warm tone. “I don’t have a condom with me and-“
“I have an IUD, just please- hurry” You respond as he smirks at the tone of desperation in your response.
Watching you squirm underneath him only made him want to fuck you harder and he did such as he slowly slipped his tips in, letting out a loud gasp from your mouth.
“Good girl” He praises as he pushes more of him into you.
As he starts to slowly rock his hips, your hands tighten around the bed sheet. With each hard thrust, small gasps escape your lips.
He leans down softly and kisses your neck, your fingers intertwining with his hair.
“So pretty baby” He mumbles into your skin. “All mine right?”
“Yours” You breathe softly trying to maintain yourself.
It was only driving him crazy seeing you try to keep your cool underneath him causing him to thrust harder.
A loud moan escapes your lips which makes him smirk against your neck.
“Close-“ You barely stammer out as you clench around him.
“Just wait for me baby, you can do that right?” He kisses your lips gently.
You nod a soft yes as you try not to lose control over your desire.
A few more thrusts in and you could feel him twitch inside you.
“So tight, let me help” he says bringing his hand down to rub your clit.
You could feel your breathing shake alongside his as he kissed you more passionately.
As your moans start to intertwine you could feel him lose control more and more.
“Gonna fill you up bubs, gonna make you feel good ‘kay?” He mumbles pushing himself into you once again until all you can feel is the warmth of his cum inside you joining with your wave of pleasure.
The two of you lay together for a moment before he starts to pull out slightly, causing a small whine from you.
He chuckles leaving kisses on your lips and shoulder. “you’re okay” He comforts as he grabs a towel to clean you up.
He made sure to clean you up first before tending himself, as he starts to gently carry you under the covers.
After he slips under, you cuddle next to him, nuzzling your face into his neck while his finger traces circles on your arm.

Ok, imagine Miguel and Glen just casually talking
'i told you we are going serious'
'if you are going serious with her why haven't you met her family or something?'
After that he has been persistently asking about y/n's family and he eventually tells y/n he wants to meet them
(first time asking for something lol sorry if I made some mistakes, love the way you write <3)
“So got any plans with your girl and her family this Christmas?”
Miguel stops eating his cereal before looking up, seeing Glen taking a seat in front of him,
“What do you mean?”
Glen gives him a look, one that Miguel doesn’t understand. “I meant, are you going to spend some time with her family next week. Unless you both are only fucking around-“
“We’re not” Miguel’s quick to say, resuming to feed himself a spoonful of froot loops. Your favorite ones. And now it has become his favorite too. “We’re serious. She’s the one”
Hearing that makes Glen smile, leaning forward against the marble top as he hears how defensive his best friend gets with his girlfriend. “Okay that’s good. But does she know that?”
“What the fuck are you talking about, compá?”
“That you’re getting serious with her” Glen shrugs, interlocking his hands. “Because it’s been like what, almost six months you guys are fucking around-“
“We are not, fucking around” Miguel repeats through gritting teeth.
“Okay shit, sorry. Don’t kill me” Glen apologizes with a smile. “But has she ever, I don’t know—Asked you to go meet her family?”
Miguel thinks for a while before shrugging, playing with his food. “Not really… She never really talked about it so i assumed it’s a sensitive topic. She has a brother though.”
“Oh. Well okay” Glen answers with a sigh, earning a frown from Miguel as he stops chewing,
“What the hell is that?”
“The hell is what?!”
“That!” Miguel points, dropping his spoon. “Fuck, do i have something to worry about?!”
“What, no! Man—Christ! I didn’t peg you for an overthinker, O’Hara” Glen jokes, but Miguel doesn’t find it funny. “I’m just saying… If shit’s getting serious then you should probably ask her to go meet her family. If not then—“
“Fucking stop. I can’t and won’t hear what you’re about to say next.” Miguel stands up from his chair, grabbing the bowl before dumping it on the sink. “I mean she—she knows that i’m serious with her… Right? She’s got to be… Or maybe is she not—“
“Woah okay hey” Glen immediately jumps to console Miguel after seeing the defeated look on his face and the crack of his voice. Not exactly fond of seeing the distress expression across Miguel’s face.
“She knows, man.. Of course she does” Glen says, “that girl’s crazy in love with you it’s almost sickening. so i doubt she’ll leave your ass”
“You think so?” Miguel’s eyes soften at the confirmation. “She told you that?”
Glen only smile, hiding something that his best friend doesn’t know and he likes to keep it that way.
“Nope. Just a simple observation” He lies. “She here?”
“Yeah. Sleeping upstairs” Miguel’s heart blooms at the thought of his pretty girlfriend tucked comfortably underneath the covers of his bed,
“Alright then why the fuck are you still here? Be a gentleman, wake her up and get her breakfast. It’s almost 9” Glen claps his shoulder before walking away, resuming his daily routine.
Miguel’s hand reaches out next to the stove, grabbing the brown paper bag filled with your favorite cinnamon roll and lemon loaf along with an iced coffee from the cafe. He couldn’t decide which one you prefer to eat for breakfast, so he bought two instead.
He goes back to his room, entering in silence only to find you already woken up. His eyes light up when his favorite smile look up to him. The cause of his heart beat to quicken, knees to buckle and ruby irises to dilate,
He doesn’t think he’ll get tired of it,
“I was wondering where my big boy has gone” You stretch out your arms, kicking the covers off.
Miguel walks towards the bed, cheeks warming at the nickname. “Was craving cereal for breakfast so i went down to get some. I didn’t wanna wake you”
He takes a seat at the edge of the bed as you prop yourself up to sit up straight, the collar of his shirt you’re wearing falls down to one of your shoulder. Exposing your soft skin, littering with marks of his teeth from last night,
“So sweet of you, baby” You move to sit on your knees and move forward to kiss his lips. “What’s that?”
“Oh, this?” He moves the bag to your lap and set the iced coffee next to your bed. “Your breakfast. I got your favorites.”
Your eyes soften at his gesture, jutting your bottom lip forward. “Are you saying, you ate a cereal but you bought me bakery goods? Why would you do that?”
“You’re my girl” He responds as if it’s the most obvious thing. “I’m supposed to take care of you, mi amor.”
Your heart soars when he gives you his lovesick smile as his head tilts a bit to the side. “I love you, you know that? But i would’ve been just fine with cereal.” Your hands wrapped around his neck as he keeps a steady grip on your hips, drawing you close,
“Ay, cariño. I’ve lost count on the amount of times you’ve eaten that ever since you start sleeping over here” He chuckles, moving your hair to the back. “You need some better food in your system”
“Awe. I love how you’re taking care of me” You coo, giggling at your boyfriend lovely gesture.
He eyes you for a moment. From the crease of your brows, to your cute nose, and down to your soft full lips that he adores.
Gorgeous doesn’t even begin to describe you.
“What’s on your mind, Miggy?” You wonder, fingers move to lose themselves under his chocolate hair. “Hm?”
“Just thinking”
“About?”
“About when i get to meet your family” He blurts, causing your movement to stop. He panics for a little.
“I mean y-you don’t have to, wait—i mean we don’t have to” He nervously laughs, not wanting to make you uncomfortable. “I know we never actually talked about it. Which is why i won’t pressure you. But i would like to meet them someday… I want them to know that i’m not just some guy and that i’m taking good care of you and all”
You watch how he rambles. Feeling flustered at the choice of his words, especially the last one. He doesn’t want to come off cocky or anything but he can’t deny the fact that he’s the only man who has been treating you like a princess and he doesn’t even have to ask you for the truth.
A grin spreads across your features, letting out a giggle at how cute he’s acting. “You are, baby. You’re meeting my family”
His eyes widens. “Wait, i am?”
“Yes” You nod, pecking his nose. “I’m taking you to dinner with my family for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I already told them. It was supposed to be a surprise for you, though”
“Holy shit. Really?” Again, you nod which makes him smile even bigger. “This is the best news ever! I can’t wait to win them over!”
“You’re so cute, Miguel”

Chrissy Cunningham, coming back to the music industry. First single in three years!
Chrissy Cunningham was once a Disney star, grew up in the spot light and was America’s sweetheart. Stepped away from the acting world to become a singer, with her fan base following along with her; became a pop star over night with her first single, Love Story. Eventually the actress turned singer, she took a massive break from both to quietly start up a fashion line.
Her success is known world wide and has recently stepped back in Hollywood with a short series on Hulu. Now it seems after that success, she’s taking her comeback further with her new single; Single Soon.
We’re all ready to hear the new music and see what else Cunningham has up her sleeve!
“The world seems to be ready for you, Sweets.” Eddie looks up from his phone to smile at a nervously pacing Chrissy, “Why the pacing?”
Chrissy groans and falls helplessly against the couch, covering her face and says something that Eddie can’t hear. She groans again, lifting a hand and repeats, “I’m afraid of what Jason’s gonna think”
“Carver? You’re asshole of an ex? That guy?”
She groans and sits up, “I’ve only ever dated one guy named Jason, Eddie! You know this”
He snorts, “yeah well, what about him?”
Chrissy glares at him and Eddie raises his hands in surrender, a finger wiggle gets her glare to drop. His smile drops as her face falls and he sets his phone down to sit next to her, “Chrissy, babe, what’s the actual problem? The song is amazing, your show is a success and Robin is coming over with Stevie”
“I’m afraid Jason will react, Eds. He is sweet but he can be a lot-“
“Yeah I know, I got the texts to remember that he has a controlling side”
She groans again, “we’ve been broken up for months and now I’m coming out with this song, he could try something” she’s biting her lip and twisting her shirt in her hands, “Just, I don’t want backlash”
Eddie softens and pulls her against his side, kissing her temple and rubbing her arm, “you won’t, not from the ones who know you. You have me, the rest of our friends and your fans? Babe, they’ll always be supportive of you! They’ll never take his side if he does come out with bullshit about you.”
“I guess” she mumbles against him, “Are you absolutely sure Robin will be here?”
Eddie’s happy that she’s hiding against his side, because she doesn’t see the shit-eating grin he has, “Stevie made absolutely sure that she’ll be there, he even promised to drag her away from her studio if he has too.”
“He doesn’t have to do that! I know she has a deadline for-“
He makes a ‘tsk’ sound while shaking his head, “Chrissy, her deadline isn’t as soon as you think. Stevie told me it’s actually in October, three months away. Your crush just has anxiety over her album, she can take a day to relax and maybe this will finally be the chance you get!”
She doesn’t say anything, Eddie has a good point but still, Chrissy is worried but she won’t say it again.
Eddie squeezes her once before hopping up and holding his hand out for her, she grabs it and is immediately up and twirled around before being hugged.
“Watch, this single will be a huge success. Carver can cry his heart out, you’ll be making records and get the girl you like so much. Trust me on this, Chrissy Cakes”
She squeezes her arms around him and nods, lost with words right now. Knowing her best friend, he’ll keep that promise and keep reminding her of it to even out her anxiety on it.
(Eddie’s right of course, the song is a huge success. At the launch party, she ends the night on stage with Robin Buckley, spinning her around and kissing her cheek. The media go wild with it, but it doesn’t bother Chrissy like she thought she would. Instead, she spends weeks laughing at Jason’s poor attempts to ruin her with Robin next to her)
Tumblr media
I… don’t know where this came from other than I heard Selena Gomez’s new song ‘Single Soon’ and then I just started typing hahaha.
Information to know: everyone is famous in some way in this. Eddie’s got Corroded Coffin, Chrissy is basically Selena Gomez (child star/singer/fashion designer) Robin’s an indie singer and Steve’s a baseball player. The Party members are whatever you can think of it, I’d like to think some of them are YouTubers, singers & actors. Jason is also unfortunately famous too, he’s an actor. Steve and Eddie are together in this. They’ve been playing matchmaker with their best friends/platonic soulmates.
I could probably write more but I probably won’t lol so if anyone wants, you can take this and add too it or write your own version!

CH 1
Pairing: Joel Miller x female reader
Rating: 18+
Word Count: 2k
Summary: You have just graduated with your Bachelor’s degree and decide to stay at home with your dad to save some money before graduate school. The thing is, he is moving from California to Texas to live next to his best friend/college roommate, Joel, along with his daughter, Sarah. Growing up, you heard so much about him from your dad. It’s almost like you know Joel, but you don’t. You’ve never actually met him. This Summer will be interesting…
Warnings/Tags: Dbf! Joel, slow burn, eventual smut, kinda mean Joel, explicit language, references to death, struggles with depression, reader is younger than Joel (22/43).
Note: I am a very inexperienced writer, but wanted to have some fun. Go easy on me! Chapters will probably be short and come out fast because I have ADHD lol. And yes, Obie is named after Oberyn Martell from GOT 😂.
CHAPTER 1
“Obie!” You yell out your back door. “Come, boy.” Your golden retriever comes running in the house. You always referred to Obie as ‘the only man you need in your life’. Although, that is definitely not true because you couldn’t live without your dad, it sums up your attachment to your dog. You close the backdoor and turn to look around the empty house with a leash in your hand. It’ll be weird to live somewhere not in this house, you have lived here since you were born. It saddens you when you realize that this was the last house your mother stepped foot in. Any houses after this one will be void of her presence. You take a deep breath and walk up to Obie, clasping his leash to his collar. You open the front door to meet your dad who is waiting in the U-Haul with all of your belongings combined. You usher Obie up into the front seat of the truck and have him sit between you and your dad. You close the door and let out a sigh. Your dad turns to you and puts his hand on your shoulder. “You okay, hun?” You look over to him. “Yeah, just ready to get this drive over with”. You reply. It was partly true, you were dreading the 20 hour drive. But you purposefully didn’t mention your true feelings. “Well let’s get going then”. Your dad pulls out from your childhood home and begins to drive to his new one.
The drive wasn’t horrible. One motel stay, multiple potty breaks for Obie, listening to podcasts and eating a bunch of junk food. You finally reach the neighborhood the new house is in. Your dad pulls into a cul-de-sac and points to a green two-story house on the left side. “This is her,” he says, pulling into the driveway. “Looks pretty nice, I think she’ll do” You respond “Which house is Joels?” You didn’t really care much, but the whole reason your dad wanted to move here in the first place was to be next to his so-called best friend Joel Miller. You’ve never met the guy, but you don’t really care to particularly. Your dad always talked about him so much growing up, you feel like he’s your long-lost uncle or something. You supposedly met him once when you were 3 years old at your mother’s funeral. You obviously don’t remember, you know, being 3 and having better things to worry about like your mom being dead. Your dad always told you the story of how he and Joel met: it was their freshman year at college at the University of Texas, Austin, and they were random roommates. They became best friends and were inseparable until your dad met your mom and moved to Los Angeles. Since you were looking at schools in the Texas area and were accepted to UT for your graduate program, your dad thought it would be a good idea to move with you so you can stay at home. Also, so your dad could have someone he cares about, other than you, close. He's been lonely since your mom died but he won’t admit it. You agreed, because worst case scenario, you save money by living at home with your dad.
“His is the one right across the street”. Your dad points behind you both, behind the U-Haul. You look over your shoulder and see a white house with no cars in the driveway. It looked like no one was home. “Joel’s at work, but should be off around 6 in time for the barbeque.” Your dad continues. You look at him puzzled, “what barbeque?” “The cul-de-sac is throwing us a welcome barbeque tonight”. He looks at you smiling. “Ugh, now after driving half the day I have to go put on makeup to meet some people I don’t know”. You were exhausted, you wished you could just go in and go to sleep. But there wasn’t even a bed inside, lots of unloading to do. Obie begins to whine, signaling he wants to be let out. “Oh come on, you’ll be fine” Your dad exclaims. You open the door to the U-Haul to let Obie out and head towards your new home.
4 ½ hours and lots of sweating later, you’re finally done getting ready for the barbeque and moving your stuff. Your room is hardly set up, with just a bed in the middle. But you don’t care, it can wait until tomorrow. You’re wearing blue jean shorts, a black tank top and flip flops. Not trying to impress anyone too bad here. Besides, it’s May in Texas, so it’s pretty hot. But you have your hair down and makeup on so you look like you at least tried. You look at your phone, it’s 6:30 PM. Your dad left to help set up the barbecue an hour ago and said he would be back. He must’ve ran into Joel and begun reminiscing or something. You take it upon yourself to make an appearance just to make your dad happy. “Obie, come on” You walk down the stairs and usher Obie outside the front door with you.
You close the front door and look around the cul-de-sac. The first thing you notice being the loud country music and the smell of hotdogs. There’s two tables set up with a red patterned tablecloth in the middle of the cul-de-sac. They have hotdogs, burgers and condiments on them. There’s multiple ice chests and chairs everywhere. You think everyone in the cul-de-sac must be here, because they are blocking off the road. There are quite a few people here, obviously no one you recognize. You decide to take a walk around and explore more. “Let’s go, Bubba”. Obie follows you as you walk down the sidewalk deeper into the party. You see a blue ice chest labeled ‘water’ and open it up to take a cold water bottle. Right as you’re done taking a swig, you hear someone ask “what’s his name?” You look over to see a girl, motioning toward your dog. Though you could tell she is younger, a teen maybe, she is almost your height. You smile and say “oh, this is Obie”. “Can I pet him?” The girl asks. “Of course, he’s a sweet boy”. You say. She leans down and rubs him on the head, “Hi, Obie” she says to him. She stands back up and introduces herself to you “I’m Sarah. You’re John’s daughter, right?” You look at her puzzled. “Yeah, how do you know my dad?” You reply. “Because Joel’s my dad”. She says. “Ohhh, duh. Sorry”. You feel a little stupid due to the fact that you forgot Joel had a daughter. You introduce yourself back to Sarah. “I guess we’re basically like, cousins, or something” She says laughing. “I guess so”, you give a small chuckle back. She looks over your shoulder, “he’s super cute, huh?” Pointing behind you. You look over to see a blondish boy with his friend, throwing a football back and forth to each other. You look back to Sarah. “Sure, but they look a bit old for you. How old are you, Sarah?” You ask. “I’m 12, he’s 21. His name is Scotty”. She replies. You widen your eyes at the response, thinking the girl was around 15. “It’s just a crush, he doesn’t even know I exist. But still, please don’t tell my dad” Sarah says. “Of course,” You say smiling. “Does Obie need some water?” Sarah asks. You look down at Obie, who is panting severely. “It is a bit hot, maybe I should get him some”. You exclaim. “Don’t worry, we’re closer to my house, we can just get it there. Let me just double check with my dad that it’s okay”. Her house is equal distance to your house, but you write it off as Sarah being excited to show you her house. Sarah motions for you to follow her, so you do.
You walk a few steps to the table with the food sprawled across it. You notice your dad on the end getting a hotdog with a man beside him, both of them laughing. Sarah walks up to the man, who is scooping relish onto his hotdog. You and Obie stand beside her. “Dad?”  She tries to get his attention, but he keeps his back turned to her. “Yeah?” The man says. “Can we go inside the house for a second?” She asks. “Who is we?” He asks as he turns toward her with the hotdog in his hand. He looks at her, then his eyes cross over to yours. It is only then you notice how handsome the man is. He looks rugged, but has soft eyes. His patchy beard and wavy, salt and pepper hair tell you this man is somewhere in his forties. He’s wearing a green button up flannel with the sleeves rolled up. Your breath catches as he looks at you blankly and puts the plastic spoon he was using to scoop relish with in his mouth to suck off the excess. Sarah introduces you to the man, all the while he doesn’t break eye contact. “We were just going to get her dog some water real quick”. Sarah says. The man then looks down at Obie and back up to you. He then takes the spoon out of his mouth. Your dad then appears, he puts his hand on the man’s shoulder and says “Joel, this is my daughter.” You knew Sarah’s dad was Joel, but for some reason it did not connect that this man in front of you was Joel. You give Joel a pathetic little “Hi”. He responds back, “Hi.” Then turns his attention back toward Sarah. “Go ahead” he gives Sarah permission. Sarah starts to walk excitedly toward her house. You and Obie follow her, still eyeing the man as he turns back toward your dad to say something. He seems a bit rude, you think to yourself. He didn’t say ‘nice to meet you’ or introduce himself. And his eye contact was very strong, it made you feel a bit uncomfortable. Not the warm welcome you expected, but you try to brush it off.
You, Sarah and Obie go inside the house. She grabs a bowl from the cabinet and fills it up with water. She lays it on the floor. While Obie drinks the water sloppily, you ask “hey, is your dad always like that? You know…” You struggle to find the words to describe his presence. “Cold?” Sarah takes the word right out of your mouth. “Yes! Cold. Is he always so cold to everyone?” You specify. It leaves you surprised that Joel is coming off this way, because your dad is so nice and outgoing. You ask yourself how they could be best friends with such different personalities. She replies, “Yeah, basically everyone. Except me, my uncle Tommy, and your dad”. “Everyone else he is pretty cold to, but some people he just has a soft spot for”. Sarah continues. It begins to make sense in your mind, how Joel could be laughing with your dad one second then giving you a death stare the next. “Oh, okay”. You say as you try to drop the subject.
You don’t know why, but you begin to wonder what it would take for Joel to have a soft spot for you, or how different he might act towards you. You think back to him laughing with your dad, how his dimple appeared out of nowhere. How unguarded he looked. You began to wish that it was you he was laughing with, not your dad. From this point on, you make it your goal to be one of Joel’s soft spots.

I have this hc where, after spending their life at least mostly isolated in the circle, Mage Trevelyan probably has a not-so-great immune system. So, if you want: how do the companions/advisors react (Cullen in particular if you prefer?) when the Mage Inquisitor gets sick? Panic? Dote on them? Something in between? Neither? (Also, I have to say, you guys are doing great work here. I didn't know I needed this blog until I found it, but I LOVE it!)
“Companions reacting to sick Mage!Trevelyan!Inquisitor”
Another joke!
Healer: Sir Cullen, you’re suffering from delirium.
Cullen: No shit I’m suffering from the lyrium. I’m asking what are the symptoms?
-Lord Lex
Cullen
-Honestly? Think he’d be one of the more level-headed people about it. He’s been inside a magi circle, he knows how most are when it comes to adventuring out for the first time. He’s quick to contact any healers who can help and checks on your status every now and then, but mainly leaves it to the professionals. He’ll take on any responsibilities to make it easier for you when you get better. He’ll go out of his way to make sure you get the proper care and herbs/potions that you need.
Josephine
-Very doting. She’s an older sister so she’s always looking out for others. Mainly goes by the way of getting you some soup while you rest and seeing if any of the healers are able to help. She’ll stay by your bedside in case you need anything and, in a situation that calls for her attention, will have someone stay with you until she gets back. Don’t worry, she won’t forget about her duties, nor yours. Josey will make sure most are done.
Leliana
-Walk it off. The only way you’ll grow immune to most diseases is through travel. Or being poisoned. She’s pretty sure you don’t want to do the latter. She’ll make sure a scout or a healer stays near you so no one gets the drop on you while still attending to her duties. You might even find some very delicious soup sent up from the kitchen, a special request put in by “a friend”. No, she will not admit it was her.
Vivienne
-Bet your ass this woman is tsking you while healing you. Goes over exercises to help you better your body so that a simple cold won’t take you out as well as different types of magic to help heal or protect you. It’s better for everyone if you’re not constantly falling to your death, metaphorically and physically.
Varric
-Goes the whole 8 ½ yards. Get’s you some broth, a bowl of water and a towel, maybe some more blankets. One of the main ones who just lets you chill. You’re already under enough pressure, it won’t make you feel any better if people rush the process. Just take your time getting better. And when you do eventually get out of bed, tries to take note of areas that might be a little too harsh for you. One step at a time.
Cole
-Cole is trying, ok? He brings you the ingredients for soup but forgot that you have to make the soup. Will then bring you hot water but not the ingredients. Even get you blankets…a humorous amount of blankets. Cole even brings you…a chicken? Says it’s supposed to help. Who knows. You never see him, but you can sometimes hear him talking. It’s gotten to a point where the maids think the stairs to your quarters are haunted.
Solas
-Oh, that’s simple. Magic. Except after one too many that he realizes it’s your immune system. He’s worried, don’t get me wrong. But for once, he agrees with Vivienne. Magic can only take you so far. You need to start developing better habits and strengthen your will. Solas will personally go with you to certain areas and sit or walk around to make sure it’s getting better. Magic will only be used if necessary.
Cassandra
-Cass is worried the whole time. She tries to (s)mother you with care which is something she’s not used to nor you. She’s so freaking worried, always nervous when you fall ill and thinking the worst. Let’s the healers do their job and maids bring you things but she’s always there, asking if you need anything else, even after you’ve said no. She just wants to make sure the Inquisitor (and her friend) are alright.
The Iron Bull
-Doesn’t really stop him from doing his thing. Sure, he’ll come up and check on you, make sure you’re doing alright, but he’s going to keep things up and running the same as if you weren’t even at Skyhold. Of course, he’ll try to figure out how or why you got sick and help try to prevent it. Another one to join in on Solas’s trips to make sure you’re taking it at a nice pace to get better. Might even suggest pushing yourself further each time,
Dorian
-No magic, heal properly. He’s going to give you so much sass while taking care of you. Yes, him. He’s doing it, going down to the kitchen and fetching you broth and water, helping you move in case you're in pain and getting any herbs to make it better. But he will, under no circumstances, use his magic. Mainly because he doesn’t want to fuck up and reset your progress at getting better. He’s grouchy but that’s just his way of saying he cares for you.
Sera
-Ok and? Get your hind tail up and get outside with her. She knows how to fix it. And that’s by pelting you with snow. Which she finds out does not, in fact, help. After that she’ll just hang out in your room, keeping you company while also asking for stuff to be brought up for you and her. Makes sure you’re still laughing even if you feel like death.
Blackwall
-He’s a farm boy at heart. Tries to take care of you as simple as possible. Some soup with some meat, enough bedding that you’re comfortable but not too hot or too cold, some water to keep you from overheating, and enough time to sleep. You shouldn’t try to rush the process, it’s what helps make your body start to get used to it. Blackwall will stay by your side in case you need anything, even just chatting or talking so that you have some sort of calming presence.

You had honestly thought you would never see your older brother, Daryl, ever again. It just didn’t seem possible; with the lengths you’d traveled on foot to the people you’ve lost, the idea of him being alive was almost too good to be true.
You guys had been separated from each other ever since you were fifteen. It was your fault really, but the argument you had between Merle & Daryl was considered a big deal at the time, but now that you’re almost twenty-six, it was almost laughable. You had gone out drinking with some friends and hadn’t come home until the next night, and Daryl was almost losing his mind worrying about you.
You were a complete accident, your parents hadn’t cared about you since you were born, and the caretaking was left up to Daryl & Merle, but of course, Merle can’t take responsibility for anything, so Daryl was the one that took care of you most of the time. Of course, with the pressures of teenage hormones and the fact that there was nothing to do in your small town, you would eventually give in to the mischief of your friends. Daryl had dreaded the day you grew up truly, and that night was an eye opener for him, and he had no idea how to take it.
“What the hell were you thinkin’?!” Daryl asked angrily. He stood behind one of the dining room chairs, his hands having a death grip on the back of it. “I was thinkin’ that I wanted to go and hangout with my friends without you on my back!” You replied back in irritation. Merle chimed in from the couch he was sitting on, “Don’t act like we didn’t do that when we were her age, little brother.” He laughed to himself before taking a swig of his beer.
“Shut up man!” He growled.
“You’re not my fucking dad,” You bit. “So I don’t even know why you fucking care.”
His face morphed into something nasty. “Ya think I wanted to take care of ya?” He began to slowly approach you. “Yer jus’ some fuckin’ burden that I was stuck with..” His finger jabbed into your shoulder. A sickening feeling settled in your stomach as you bit back tears; his words hurt worse than you thought they would, and without thinking you said, “Fuck you, Daryl.” As you shoved him away from you and stormed out of the front door.
Daryl went to move when Merle piped up from the couch once more.
“Let ‘er go. She’ll be back, jus’ needs some time to cool off.”
Daryl wished that he hadn’t listened to him.
For the next ten years, you were on your own, and you had spent the first five holding on to hope that the only family you had managed to survive. Even though you hated Merle, he was blood, at least that’s what he had said - which you since learned was a shitty manipulation tactic. You didn’t mean what you had said to Daryl though, you didn’t have the right to say what you did to him, and maybe both of you were in the wrong; most nights when you were supposed to be sleeping, you’d stare up at the stars, your head swimming with questions.
Now, you’ve stopped wondering, just opting to live and save the people that were alive.
Tumblr media
You were wandering back to your camp when you stopped in your tracks, slowly drawing your bow and quiver as you watched a man surveying your makeshift camp in the woods.
“Drop your weapons.” You said lowly.
You could see his back muscles tense under his angel jacket, your eyes falling on the dog that was waiting for its owner's command. Your eyes softened, you hadn’t seen a dog in so long you’ve almost forgotten what they looked like.
“No one’s gotta get hurt.” You heard him say. “You’re right, so drop your shit,” You pulled tighter on the string. “I won’t ask you again.” He froze for a second before quickly spinning around, his crossbow brought up and ready to shoot.
Your tense body deflated at the sight of Daryl.
“D?” You asked in disbelief.
Those same tears pricked at the ducts in your eyes caused you to lower your bow, becoming completely defenseless. You threw your arms around him and began to sob, clinging onto him as you could barely say a coherent sentence. Years of grief and loss completely melted from your body, as that hole in your heart had finally begun to heal.
He couldn’t believe you were still alive; all hope had died off with you the night that you disappeared. He had no idea if you had found a safe zone or if you were bitten. He desperately searched for you until Merle forced him to move, where they inevitably found the quarry and its people.
“God,” You say as you pull away from him. “You look like shit, old man.” You attempted to joke to cover up your embarrassment of showing your vulnerability. “Ya don’ look any better, brat.” He grumbled light-heartedly.
You two had begun to walk together, a couple of giggles escaping your lips as Daryl’s dog danced around your legs once he learned you weren’t a threat.
“So, where have you been?” You asked. He just shrugs, “I’ve been around.” You nodded in understanding. “Same here. I can’t even tell you where I’ve gone.” You snorted in amusement. There was another beat of silence before you spoke again.
“Where’s Merle?”
He nibbled on the skin of his lower lip nervously.
“He uh- he didn’t make it.” His voice almost sounded sad. “Oh.” You didn’t know how to feel about hearing about the eldests’ death. A part of you was sad, but the other part of you was also in disbelief, almost like you didn’t believe him. “How did he die?”
“Doin’ somethin’ stupid but kinda… heroic?”
“I would have never expected that.”
“Me neither.” He said with his classic scoff.
Despite losing one brother, you were grateful that you had the other, and if you were going to be honest, he was your favorite. Your conversations flowed as if you hadn’t had to pick up where you left off.

TIMING: Current LOCATION: Prickly Pear Acres PARTIES: Monty (@howdy-cowpoke) & Lil (@the-lil-exorcist) SUMMARY: Lil brings Luna to Monty's farm for some free range time, and the pair get to talking about ghosts. CONTENT WARNINGS: none!
Lil pulled up to the farm excitedly hoping that Luna was going to have fun. She knew as soon as she took in the creature that she was going to need places to roam, and while Lil didn’t mind having the big cat following her - other people did especially when there was fire involved. Luckily Luna seemed to at least lower the frequency of that temperament. Still, when she had remembered the guy who said he had a barn and kittens for sale she had reached out hoping that he might let her roam for a little bit.
“Monty?” Lil said waving to the other with a question after getting out of the car.  “Hi - I’m Lil, and the girl here is Luna. She used to live on a farm I think so she’d love to run around here for a bit.” She still had Luna leashed to her, the cat’s eyes going back and forth from the man to the fields behind him. To her credit she didn’t immediately bolt sitting next to Lil. She wasn’t as trained as Blue was - it wasn’t in her temperament at all, but she seemed to have become attached to the Exorcist.
“It’s nice to finally meet ya. How’s mama cat?” Lil said eventually with a smile.
Wow. That was… a big cat, Monty thought as he waved back to Lil, trotting down the porch steps to join her on the dirt road that looped around in front of the main homestead on the farm. “Wow, Luna—you are a pretty thing!” He smiled, his attention jumping up to find Lil as she asked about his own cat. “Ah! She is good. Happy to have some of the kits back, I think. My friend who took a couple of them had to go out of town for a while, so I have them all inside.” He thumbed over his shoulder at the house behind him, giving her a shrug. “Well, happy, but also exhausted. They really do run her ragged,” he laughed.
His gaze fell back down to the cat that’d been brought along, and he gave a small shake of his head before turning to gesture vaguely at the expanse of pastures available to her. “All yours, little lady. Mm… you do not worry about her taking off, then? She must be well-trained.”
Lil chuckled, petting Luna’s head, “See Luna? You are a pretty thing. I keep telling you that.”  The creature hadn’t trusted her fully at first, but she’d slowly worked on it. Mostly with treats and time. She ought to have gotten more angry when she burned things, but well Lil couldn’t seem to do that. Her and Auggie ran her life most of the time when she wasn’t doing the rest of her work.
“Oh that’s nice! I’m glad they get a little bit of time together,” Lil said with a smile. “I can’t say I didn’t do that to my mom when I was a kid either.” Leaning down to let Luna’s leash go she waited for a moment to see if she had figured out.
“You can go on girl, I’ll whistle when you need to come back. Don’t worry I’ll stay where you can see me,” She said softly as she realized Luna was hesitating her eyes flickering between Lil and the pastures. There was a moment before she seemed to understand and moved to go to the pasture.
Smiling for a moment Lil laughed and nodded, “Yeah she’ll come back when I whistle. I wouldn’t say she’s well trained, but she seems to want to heard me specifically all the time. If you wait about ten minutes she’ll probably come see what I’m doing. I really appreciate this though. My house’s land isn’t very big being in town, and I can tell she wanted to run around. I go to the park and that stuff sometimes, but her being as big as she is freaks people out.”
“Didn’t we all,” Monty agreed, knowing full well he’d never been the troublemaker among his siblings. That’d been reserved for his five older brothers. Watching the cat go, he had to wonder if it was… special. It had to be, right? Being as big as it was. “Still! Impressive. I was not under the impression that cats could be trained—maybe I need to work on some commands with the little ones…” He chuckled, folding his arms across his chest. “It’s no problem. I understand her need for wide open spaces better than most!” He motioned with his head for Lil to follow him toward the fence that Luna had ducked under, leaning against it to watch the cat leap about the space. Montezuma, the catoblepas that kept a watchful eye on the herd of cattle, eyed the cat warily before lifting his massive head to stare at Monty. The cowboy waved toward him, clearly unperturbed by the new presence, and that seemed enough for the monstrous, poison-breathing beast. He lowered his head back to the snowy ground, rooting around for any weeds that’d survived the cold snap.
Knowing that his guardian was in full view of Lil, Monty looked over at her with raised brows. “So, ah… exactly what kind of cat is Luna? She’s very unique, I take it?”
Lil chuckled thinking back to her mom for a moment with a warmness that she often didn’t lately. It hurt to think about her most of the time, but hopefully that wouldn’t be forever. At the idea she shrugged. “She was a working cat at a farm when I rescued her from the goo. So I wouldn’t be surprised if you could.”
Lil moved to watch Luna as she moved around carefully watching the cat. She was a good girl, but at the end of the day her species was still prone to breathing fire when angry. Lil didn’t mind it - something about it seemed fitting to her in any case but she didn’t want her hurting well animals she couldn’t quite pick out yet. She was never really one to learn more about the supernatural then she had too, but she also knew that they had to be different then normal. “Yeah she loves being outside. Good thing too I’m usually outside with her. Just on a leash obviously.” At the question Lil nodded, figuring the other must know about supernatural creatures seeing his own. “She’s uh - well not quite a cat I guess. I just call her that when people ask because it’s easier that way.  They are called Ovinniks, that’s why she likes farms so much. Not super common but not very dangerous.” After all, Lil did keep her fed and mostly happy. She also seemed to get attached to her well enough that she was happy with the attention. “I am hoping to get more land one day though, so she can run around more. I like animals.” That was something she wasn’t quite sure she should share but did anyway. A secret hope that if she really got to settle here that she might get to do.
“Ov… ovinniks,” Monty repeated, trying to commit it to memory. “Not very dangerous, ah?” The man smiled—clearly he wasn’t bothered by the notion that the cat-like creature had the capacity to be dangerous. Didn’t most things? Even the mundane livestock on his farm could hurt someone if they really wanted to, but he did give a nod in Montezuma’s direction before speaking again. “That hombre over there exhales poison. Not always, I don’t think… maybe just when he feels threatened. I can imagine that Luna must be sort of similar in that way.” He nodded at the following statement, figuring it was probably pretty obvious that he also liked animals. “You should, if you can! I had a lot of help getting this land, I could ask my good friend if he knows of any available lots? He is probably the only reason I have this place now. I, like you, wanted something… permanent. Something where I could raise the animals I wanted. I have been working with them all my life, but had never been more than a paid hand.” He laughed at himself for rambling, shaking his head. “Ah, all of this is to say, it can be done. I think you and Luna will find a place that is perfect for you both.”
__
“You got it,” Lil said, nodding and chuckling. “Noted. I’ll make sure not to threaten him. Yeah she can breath fire when she’s upset or annoyed. She’s a good girl though.” She had come to help her with Jonas after all. Thinking about the idea she stretched a little thinking about it. “Yeah maybe in a few years when I got my feet under me again. My brother and I have been on the road for the last ten years or so, so it’s not something I ever thought of or figured out how to do. It’d be nice though. I’d like to do a rescue if I could.” It felt wrong to want something more then what she had been doing. Afterall, she was an exorcist - nothing more and nothing less. Still, she couldn’t really be one forever could she? She wasn’t even thirty yet and her body was already wearing down from the number of rituals. Maybe she could at least slow down after all the dust settled.
She just had to bury that Astra asshole and then she could start taking it easier.
“ I appreciate you telling me. I think that would be nice and Luna would love it. Not easy, but nice.” After all, labor was labor and Lil knew that. Still, it would be nice to have another type of adventure. “Was it hard to get the land? With the type of animals you’re keeping? Don’t know what kind of regulations you’d have adhere too.”
“A rescue would be a great idea,” Monty agreed. “I understand the need to wait, though. It took me about three years to get this place, and two more to get it running. It is quite the undertaking.” The question of whether or not it had been hard was a… complex one. He scratched the back of his head, thinking on it for a few moments.
“Well… getting the land itself was not too hard, no. No one else wanted it because of the pit beyond those hills, but I certainly wouldn’t have known what to do if I hadn’t had Alan there to help. And Daisy, another friend of mine, she wanted to help build the farm up. Between the two of them, it was not so bad. As for regulations, ah… that’s definitely more of a Daisy question,” he laughed. “I’m sure there are plenty, but she keeps track of those kinds of things. She knows how scattered I can be.” His eyes tracked the ovinnik for a few moments, watching her streaking up and down the pasture along the fence. It looked like… what had Alex called it? Zoomies? Yeah, that. “What is it that you do now? For work, I mean.”
Lil nodded thinking about how she rarely had time for much more than what she was already doing. She hoped she didn’t look it, but she did feel exhausted most of the time. “Eventually I think I could do it. Probably not as well as you have with this place,” she said looking at Monty with a smile and then back to the field.
Lil hummed in agreement thinking that the pit did make it more dangerous. She laughed at the idea of needing to ask someone else and said softly, “ Yeah I get that. I wouldn’t have gotten my license if someone hadn’t let me know that I could. He was pretty nice about it too.” Luna looked excited finally realizing she could run and wasn’t as concerned as keeping Lil in her sightline, trusting that the woman would stay. At the question she responded, “I work at a bakery as the cashier. I’m also an exorcist.” She very rarely hid that, and if the other knew about supernatural creatures he would probably know about ghosts. “I don’t really get paid for the exorcist thing though, I feel bad doing that.”
“An exorcist?” Monty hadn’t realized such a thing existed, truth told… though he should’ve been able to see ghosts, he never had. Hell, he’d not even known they were real until he met some of the other undead that worked on the farm. Even Daisy hadn’t seen more than one in her unlife, and had ultimately thought it to be a fluke. But there were some people, he knew, who could see them in droves.
He did not envy that ability.
“So people really do have to have them… ah…” He searched for the word in English, letting his gaze wander to the sky. “Banished? I do not… think that is the word I mean, but. How ornery must a ghost be for someone like you to intervene, I wonder?”
“Yup, I know I don’t look like one.” Lil said, chuckling. After all more depictions of exorcists made them look like a monolith usually like that Constantine guy. While Lil had met exorcists like that - well her own sister was a demonologist and was usually in soft pastel dresses. She could also bench press most people, but regardless. “But yes, I am.”
At the question she pondered what to say. “Banishment is right. Essentially, most ghosts are fine. They just need a little extra time over here and most mediums who know how too can help guide a spirit over to - well whatever you think the other side is. It is - a bad thing to exorcize a spirit that isn’t a poltergeist - which is a corrupted being. At that point, the only way to stop them causing pain and misery is to banish them.” She didn’t comment on why it was a bad thing, that it was destroying a soul - something that even a murder couldn’t rightly do. She also didn’t comment on the fact she had done it.
“So, pretty badly ornery I guess,” Lil said with a chuckle. “In most places in the world, you’d only need an exorcist once every five years if that. Wicked’s Rest is just full of ghosts it seems.”
“Are the ones around here… from here? Or can ghosts travel?” The idea of the spirits of the family Monty had died to protect and then killed and eaten himself following him all across the continent was not one that he particularly liked. He’d been told by his undead staff that the farm was not overrun with ghosts, but there were a number of them that milled around the Death Pit that wasn’t far from them. He’d never thought before to ask about any of the ghosts in particular, to see if he… knew any of them. Maybe it had been subconscious at the time, trying to keep as much distance between himself and his past as possible.
But there’d been others in more recent times that had died because of his lack of control, and he couldn’t help but wonder if they were around, too. Where they’d died, or here… and if someone like Lil was capable of communicating with them, then who knew how many others were also capable? Were ghosts the reckoning of some supernatural people that had killed in their past? The thought made him anxious.
Lil considered it for a moment. “Ghosts can travel technically, but mostly they don’t. I mean most of us don’t wander that much either you know? Most people don’t become them, and usually the ones that do are here because they aren’t at peace - usually you stick close to where you were.”
It wasn’t black and white, and it wasn’t like Lil spent a lot of time wondering why people became or didn’t become ghosts. It got way too psychological - or hell philosophical for her. The point always led her to the same conclusions - if you tried to find reason in death the only real one there was that it was inevitable. Anything else was just speculation.
“Why, did you guys get some ghosts around here? I can try and get them to wander off if you want,” Lil said jokingly but honestly. She liked Monty, and was grateful he’d let her let Luna run around.
Most people don’t become them. That was a relief, at least. Monty lapsed into a rather deep moment of thought, shaking his head as the young woman asked her question in earnest. “Hm? Oh… well, apparently. I have never seen any, but I have never tried to see any. There are people that work for me that have said there are ghosts that come from the Death Pit.” He pointed off toward the south—you couldn’t quite see it from here, but the pit was just beyond the downward slope of the horizon. “If they were going to be coming from anywhere, I suppose that place would make sense.” He looked over at Lil, giving her a shrug. “I’ve never had any trouble with them, myself. If you can help them get… unstuck, sure. But they have not been a bother. Not… badly ornery.” He smiled sadly, wondering if when he died, if he died, would there even be a soul left to remain trapped on earth? Either way it was a morbid thought that he didn’t take pleasure in entertaining.
“Ah yeah,” Lil confirmed. She didn’t go near the death pit often - even if she couldn’t hear the ghosts didn’t mean they couldn’t overwhelm her after all - but she knew there were a ton there. “It would make sense that they would come from over there.” Her eyes focused over to where he pointed and she nodded. “Nah - most ghosts just need a little time.  I wouldn’t be helpful to them really. If they need help - well they got a habit of finding me anyway. Still, if you ever get one that needs something here - just let me know. I can get them sorted.”
Lil’s eyes move towards Luna again watching her running through the field and for a moment it felt nice that there wasn’t anything more to do. “It’s nice out here - wouldn’t want anyone to feel bad in these parts. So yeah, just let me know.”
— The cowboy nodded in response to the offer, hoping that they would never need Lil’s assistance since it sounded like she only intervened when things got out of hand. Still, the offer was kind. “I will keep you in mind, amiga.” He turned his attention to Luna, the bizarre—but cute!—creature that was having a grand old time out in the open pasture, and felt his heart warm in spite of its dead stillness. “You and your Luna are welcome here whenever you like. The hands will know your face, you won’t be bothered if you want to bring her again to play. Perhaps next time the dogs will run with her, sí? I think they’d like that.” Monty smiled back at his new friend, leaning his arms on the fence in front of them. “Welcome to our strange little family, Miss Ballard.”

Do you have any headcannons on how Eddie’s friends would have reacted to Chrissy? Do you think they knew about his crush on her? Would they be supportive and help cover for them if they had a secret relationship or would they not approve?
i think they knew about it in middle school but they never imagined it carried into high school. the guys are realists about their place in the social hierarchy so they’re absolutely stunned when Eddie brings Chrissy fucking Cunningham to a Hellfire session.
At first they think she’s in the wrong place until Eddie pulls a chair out for her and explains that she’ll be sitting in on the game.
They’re not unsupportive, they’re just… confused. Gareth is the one to vocalize it. He tends to speak for the group. He’s Eddie’s right hand man and they were friends first out of all of them so he can usually appeal to Eddie’s sensibilities without getting his head bitten off.
“What the hell is going on between you and Chrissy Cunningham?”
To which Eddie just popped a grape in his mouth and smiled wickedly.
“I have no fucking clue.”
Tumblr media
The unnamed Hellfire member (i call him Grant in my head bc of @cunninghamschrissy hc lol) is more outspoken about Chrissy attending hellfire meetings but Eddie shuts that down with one stern look.
Jeff is the most accepting of Chrissy’s presence. He’s a very go with the flow guy and he has a gentle spirit like Chrissy. At the second game she attends, he wordlessly offers her a pretzel from his snack bowl. Those are one of the snacks Chrissy can stomach without bringing up any of her ed issues so she takes it with a grateful smile.
When they realize Eddie has genuine feelings for Chrissy, they’re a bit worried. They don’t want to see their friend get hurt. Eddie might put on a front but there’s a real vulnerability there. But all it takes is to see the two of them interacting to know the feeling is mutual.
Although she doesn’t participate in the games, she’s always enraptured by Eddie’s storytelling, watching him with fascinated eyes and having animated reactions to his various voices and other performances. After their performances at the Hideout (Chrissy goes to see them every week), she’s always touching Eddie. Her hand never leaves his and more often than not, she’s got both arms wrapped around his bicep. They think it’s really cute how Chrissy loves PDA and Eddie does too but he’s clearly not used to it so he’s always bright red in the face when she does it.
Once they get to know Eddie and Chrissy as a couple, they’re more than supportive. Beyond that, they get to know Chrissy as well. She tells them a bit about her life, her overbearing mom and how she hates all the pressure to be the “it” girl. That strikes a chord with them and they realize Chrissy’s just as much of an outcast as they are, she’s just an outcast in popular kid’s clothing.
The younger Hellfire members adore Chrissy too. Dustin likes just about anyone, Lucas is impressed that Eddie pulled her, and Mike is just so obsessed with Eddie that he likes anything Eddie likes so Chrissy is alright in his book.
And the feeling is absolutely mutual. Chrissy LOVES all of Eddie’s friends. She was a little apprehensive to meet them at first because she knew how rowdy they could be but she trusted Eddie wholeheartedly. She knew he would never guide her into a dangerous situation.
As mentioned, she and Jeff have similar soft demeanors so she warms up to him first. With Grant, his emboldened D&D outbursts make her jump but she eventually grows to appreciate his passion. Out of all of Eddie’s friends, Gareth is the one she respects the most. He and Eddie are like brothers and even though Eddie is the leader, Gareth would never let anything bad happen to him, including getting his heart broken by a pretty cheerleader. He was a little standoffish with Chrissy at first but they have caring for Eddie in common and that binds them together.
And come on. How could she not adore the younger Hellfire members? She thinks it’s so cute how Mike copies everything Eddie does. She’s even brought Mike stuff from the thrift store that looks like Eddie’s (that’s how Mike starts his ring collection). Lucas is a fellow jock and she’s impressed by how multi-faceted he is as a person. Her favorite thing about Lucas is his sister.
Erica makes Chrissy laugh harder than any of them, even Eddie sometimes. Her wit is something she’s never seen and she’s always impressed when Erica want obliterates any monsters in the party’s way. Erica won’t admit it, but she likes Chrissy too. And she loves having another girl in Hellfire even if she doesn’t technically participate. (She has yelled at Eddie and Chrissy for kissing in the middle of sessions though)
Dustin is her favorite. They have the closest bond out of all the kids. She and Eddie always joke that he’s their adopted child and Dustin has jokingly referred to Chrissy as his step-mom multiple times. Dustin talks to Chrissy about Suzie all the time (she thinks their relationship is so cute) and they even talk on the walkies sometimes. Dustin swears up and down that the four of them will go on a double date one day and Chrissy really hopes it happens because she wants to meet this girl.
As far as the secret relationship goes, the guys have no qualms about helping the two of them out. As far as they’re concerned, Chrissy’s one of them and Hellfire protects their own.

DubChaeng (Dahyun x Chaeyoung) - “Worlds Apart”
Tumblr media
My longest one-shot so far! Sorry for quite a long delay. Man, I'm definitely feeling the consequences of having a college life. I'm lacking on available time to do things that I want, such as writing stories like this. Enjoy reading!
Tumblr media
Dahyun was on her way through the lockers beside the hallway after entering the school more than half an hour remaining before the classes start, where she had a scheduled meetup with her friend from another section named Irene.
Searching for her keys inside her wallet as she continue walking, she did find it right at the time where she had to raise her head up; meeting an unfavorable sight that quickly annoyed her mood this morning. Great, she thought. Her day is just beginning yet she has to contain herself facing this situation again.
With her own eyes, she's clearly seeing Irene who is standing while forcefully making herself look unbothered being in between this group of male and female delinquent students circling her.
Dahyun knew that Irene knows who these people are, and Dahyun certainly does sure that she's thinking what she's thinking too.
She knows these trash, pathetic teens are insufferable as always. She didn't expected it though that there will be a time where Irene would eventually take their attention, and that is happening right now.
She paused on her tracks as she stood just few steps away from the group who is unable to notice her presence being close yet, occupied with dealing on Irene who instead already caught her watching them.
A helpless expression suddenly became visible on Irene's face that shouts a desperate need of help right now from Dahyun, and the pale clever girl clearly understands it.
"Just try it out or something, we'll have fun I promise you that.", the leader of the notorious ruthless gang that preys on the weak students around the campus named Chanyeol once again pulls out another plead he has in store in him.
"And why should I listen to you? Why me anyways?", Irene looked up fiercely at Chanyeol.  "Do you guys have nothing to do again that you two just randomly picked me and belong to your list of bullied victims, huh?"
Chanyeol only smirked, the rest of his members just stiffled a laugh. "Wanna know why?"
He quickly went forward, narrow his gap even closer to Irene who ended up colliding with the wall and completely trapped in front of Chanyeol.
Dahyun gaped her mouth, became even more worried for Irene on facing them alone.
"I have my eyes on you ever since you guaranteed to got my attention and I could say... well damn they ain't lying that you are indeed beautiful, Bae Irene.", Chanyeol grinned as his hand on the wall placed beside Irene's head.
Dahyun found Irene's body starts to shaken. She's definitely sure that the poor girl must be nervous and terrified of whatever Chanyeol is planning to her.
She gulped as her fists clenched tight, mustering up her courage to stop this and help her friend who is in danger.
"You had me having interests with you. Those bastards I see being with you like stupid dogs following around you, I admit... I get jealous many times.", Chanyeol said while gritting his teeth at how irritating it made him felt speaking up that experience he had.
"So I can't take it anymore. I have to move and make you mine, so why don't you just take it a shot, Irene. Who knows? We might be fitting, we can take over the entire campus as the leading couple around.", Chanyeol spreaded his arms and roamed it around to elaborate what he's saying along with his dreamy look.
"Do you want it? Would you get out together with me?"
Irene just stared at Chanyeol, speechless of what she is going to respond to the leader's proposal. She clearly does not want anything involved with a heartless guy like him but the problem is that she just don't know how will she say it.
She can tell it right away that if she declines, she'll get hurt.
Before Chanyeol gets more impatient from waiting on the answer...
"Irene-ssi! There you are! Sorry I'm late!", Dahyun just casually appeared and pretends to walk hurriedly towards Irene. Chanyeol and the rest of his gangmates just looked at her weirdly and confused.
"D-dahyun...", Irene muttered.
Dahyun looked aside and saw the gang's crumpled foreheads and eyebrows squinting at her. "Oh sorry, I didn't know you're talking with them. Did I interrupt something important?"
"You do, now can you please do me a favor and leave us both alone for a while you idiot.", Chanyeol looked at Dahyun seriously and spoke to her with angst. The girl just widened her eyes, portraying that she didn't saw that curse coming.
"E-eh... Oh sorry. I'm about to excuse her but I guess I'll be just waiti-", Dahyun's about to finish her words when Irene interjects and threw a dagger of stare at Chanyeol.
"N-No, Dahyun, nothing's wrong now. We're done now anyways so let me join you.", Irene joined your fake approach as she tried to escape Chanyeol's trap but the leader tugged her arm and gripped it harshly.
"Where are you going? Who said you can leave ready?", Chanyeol said after Irene rotates her body to face him.
"I don't like you Chanyeol okay? You want an answer? Leave me alone please, stop disturbing me because I have no desire to hang out with the likes of you.,", Irene said sharply, leaning her face closer to make him hear it clearly as she forcefully sweep his hands away from her skin.
Chanyeol reacted with a twitch of anger in his lips, pent up anger building up in him.
"GRAAAHHH!!"
He pushed Irene with frustration, causing the elegant schoolgirl to nearly crash into the ground but thanks to Dahyun, she quickly catch her and prevent her from falling.
"IRENE!"
"That's a huge loss you had there, Irene. I was giving you an opportunity already. Ain't no man can satisfy you much as I can do for you.", Chanyeol retorted. "But instead you had the dare to cancel me and rather what? talk to this nerd?"
"Chanyeol!", Irene scolded him with a shout of his name as she didn't liked what he used to call Dahyun.
"Stop and leave her alone okay? Irene said no already, so stay away from her!"
"Shut up nerd, don't command me like that.", Chanyeol then pointed his finger warningly at Dahyun who became anxious. "I don't even know who the hell you are so don't tell me what I shall must not do.
He then stepped forward and squats in front of Dahyun and Irene who both look unimpressed to match their level.
"But you know what... you have guts, huh. I'll remember you for that.", Chanyeol stared intently at Dahyun who repayed him the same manner and just listened at his comment that either she felt being warned or complimented at the same time.
As no one ever dared to speak up after that. Irene thought that this is the time where they had to leave and not waste any more time with this irrelevant moment.
"Let's go, Dahyun." Irene insisted.
Dahyun helped her slowly stand up on her both feet again before leaving one last annoyed glance at Chanyeol who is still crouching while sniggering devilishly at them.
They made a few steps away only to halt when Dahyun crossed paths with somebody that she used to know before who just arrived at the scene, clueless about what happened but immediately guessed how it occurred.
Dahyun's grimace got deepened at the sight of her while Irene just looked worriedly at Dahyun as she recognized the woman in front of them.
"You shouldn't have get in the way."
Dahyun scoffed and ridiculous rolled her eyes on this person who was once a special person to her life, now turned into a forgotten past.
"I did what I had to do, it's my friend. I chose to save her.", Dahyun replied. "Most importantly, I chose to follow the person who cares about me... so don't tell me that as if you can even do it."
Dahyun gave one last offended glare at her before proceeding to walk away pulling Irene by her arm.
The girl on the other hand just hurtfully watched her disappear after unable to dodge the painful facts that Dahyun just made her realize again.
--------------
Later during recess, the campus gang smokes cigarette in their favorite area in the campus: behind one of the senior high school buildings where they did some many troublesome things discreetly from the officials for them to get caught.
Chanyeol who is currently savoring the taste of his bubblegum flavored vape remains silent as he replayed what happened earlier when his gangmates began talking about it.
"Then that weird girl just interrupted our business like as if she didn't know who she just messed with."
"Imagine disrupting a conversation with the famous gang leader and king of the campus Chanyeol being involved. Does she really even know how fucked up what she did."
"Heh, I bet she doesn't. Say, what if she made her realize the consequence of doing it?"
That suggestion coming from his fellow gangmate made Chanyeol to woke up his senses back as it reminded him of what he just said to Dahyun before leaving.
"You know... I like your guts, huh. I'll remember that."
He puffed one more bubblegum smelled smoke in his mouth before playing the vape on his hands and avoid looking at his followers as he gather all the question popping in to his mind.
"That girl... her name was Dahyun, isn't it? Irene called her that earlier if I'm not mistaken.", Chanyeol curiously asked.
"Yes, boss.", one of his sidemen named Sehun answered.
"I'll give it to her, she may look weak but she's courage enough to step in to my business.", Chanyeol tilted his head. "But then again, I'm sure all of you know what is one of the things I hated the most."
All of the gangmates went silent, seemingly knowing where is their leader's point going ahead into.
"Meddling with me especially if you're a nobody.", Chanyeol clenched his fist. "And what she did earlier made her prove what does a person like that I despise."
"You all must've heard what I told her before we let them go. I admire her guts, and I really do. Because nobody has ever done it like that to me.", Chanyeol finally revolved his sight around his gangmates.
"I told her that her deed was remarkable, and she might have no idea how it's actually offensive in my part."
"We let them go, but that doesn't mean we're setting them free... especially her."
"However though, there's something I pointed out earlier that seems... fascinating to me.", Chanyeol caressed his chin.
"Anyone including me has no idea who she is.", Chanyeol looked at the rest who agreed as they nodded their heads, except for someone.
"But... there's this one of us who doesn't seem like it."
All their gazes went directly to the only woman in their group who is sipping her strawberry lollipop. She also looked back to her friends with guilt, understandably knowing the meaning behind their looks.
"Chaeyoung. Come here.", Chanyeol did a 'come hither' hand gesture to Chaeyoung who followed right away, stepping closely beside him.
"Based from what I saw a while ago, have you... and Dahyun know each other?"
Chaeyoung took out the lollipop in her mouth to allow her to respond. "Yes."
The members listened attentively more to their conversation as their curiosity risen also.
"Were you and Dahyun... close?", Chanyeol asked, squinting his eyes.
"O-once." Chaeyoung solemnly answered, slightly stuttered at the word. "We were close before."
"Mmmhmm. So, are you two what?"
"B-bestfriends. She was my bestfriend."
Chanyeol nodded, pursing his lower lip interestingly. He glanced at Chaeyoung, turning his head to the side.
"Do you still consider her as one until now?"
Chaeyoung matched Chanyeol's anticipating stare.
"Like I said. WAS. That was before. We were no longer like that in the present, so as I am to her."
"Good to know then. So... you won't mind that we'll target her next and your side will remain with us, right?"
Chaeyoung gulped and blinked her eyes rapidly when he said that.
"R-rest assured, Chanyeol."
Chanyeol nodded, patting her on the shoulder before urging her to lean her face closer, giving Chaeyoung a kiss on her cheek which sent a red fuming blush in react for the girl.
The bell then rang, alarming everyone to return back to their respective classes now that the recess is over.
"Goddamnit, I hate it when break passes fast.", Chanyeol grunted in annoyance.
"That boring ass Math subject is coming up next, let's slack off and avoid boring ourselves to that wack class Mr. Shin has."
----------------
Dahyun and Chaeyoung's friendship before can be described as joyful and strong. They were unseperable. Two different personalities, but each share the same preferred way to make theirselves entertained.
They were buddies, always together whenever they want to do so many things that will assure them happiness. Everyone who sees them probably thinking that this two are just so perfect for each other that other would began to think and see them differently being actual sisters rather.
That wholesome connection they built between each other because of the friendship they had for each other made them wish it would never end, especially for Dahyun who already sees Chaeyoung as a special person. A loved one and a family.
That is... until one day, something happened that changed everything drastically, which would lead to the start of their fallout.
Dahyun haven't met Chaeyoung for two days now, after swearing that they'll have a scheduled stroll in the mall on weekends; but it didn't happened because Chaeyoung didn't appeared or so.
What she did doesn't make her angry. Instead, she was worried.
When she decided to come to Chaeyoung's house, she was greeted by her mother Mrs. Son who looks devastated as the evident cries in her face was presented to the youngster. She may not be shedding tears anymore but she can call that it does looked like she did.
"Why are you crying, Mrs. Son?", Dahyun thoughtfully asked the mother.
"U-uh... this? W-we just had a fight with my husband..."
"And Chaeyoung? How is she? Is she there?"
Mrs. Son remained silent.
"Dubu... that's what I don't know."
"What do you mean you don't know?", Dahyun furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.
"I know she's not okay after hearing and seeing what happened in our family but... I don't know what she's doing right now about it.
"She... just walked out of the house. Didn't she came to you?"
Dahyun shook her head, with fear and concern in her face. She began thinking of Chaeyoung immediately. "N-no, she didn't."
"Oh god... I hope she comes back soon.", Mrs. Son began crying again, enough for Dahyun to quickly comfort the poor woman.
"It's okay, Mrs. Son. I'll help you find her. She will be alright. Nothing wrong's gonna happen to her."
Dahyun excused herself to began looking for her in the middle of the night. Her search didn't last long though when she saw Chaeyoung walking slowly alone in the sidewalk, her head bowed down in sadness.
"CHAE!"
The girl heard that familiar voice. Lifting up her head, she met Dahyun's sight of her running closer to her before engulfing her in a tight, warm hug.
"D-Dahyun...", Chaeyoung's tears fell at her friend's touch.
"Sshhh... it's okay. I'm here. Where did you go? I heard what happened, so I came to look out for you."
"I- I just strolled around for a while. Took some fresh air to calm myself down."
"You got me worried about you Chaeng. Don't leave alone next time okay? Wherever you go, I'll either join you or find you when you need help."
Chaeyoung can't help but to just nod, speechless enough for Dahyun's easing words.
She just deepened her hug onto her friend. "T-thank you, Dahyun."
"Always welcome, bro. Come on, let's get you home."
After that, they talked about what happened. Chaeyoung shared that it's a family matter regarding her father and mother's relationship. She learned that her mother got mad of her father for acting cold and uninterested these days whenever he'll come home or he is indeed in the house.
Her father didn't like hearing those accusations, so he began spitting out some hateful remarks and turned mad for his wife on blaming him for lies. That's where the altercation began and Chaeyoung was just only there, begging for them to stop as she watches them fight in the living room while sobbing in the stairs.
The couple stopped when Chaeyoung who can't contain this anymore, had to left the house for a while to let them know the damage they've done as parents. She didn't knew that the father then locked himself up in the bedroom after what happened, and her mother got even more mad that her husband didn't even bother to look for her daughter who just walked out in the middle of the night.
Dahyun sends some assuring and comforting messages for her friend to keep her positive. That didn't last long when two days later, Dahyun found out that Chaeyoung's fear came true.
Her parents broke up and her father left them alone after admitting that he was indeed cheating on his wife.
Now having a broken family, that made Dahyun concerned more for Chaeyoung, especially when she joins her everyday after the news was received; she noticed that Chaeyoung's mood got worsened. She looked gloomy, pale and weak everyday.
She didn't know that as days passes by, not only her mood changed entirely... but also her personality.
Dahyun noticed and figured out that it all started when she caught Chaeyoung meeting with some students who are famous for being delinquents and troublesome around the campus. They are a gang led by Park Chanyeol and all that Dahyun knew one thing about this is that... this doesn't look right at all.
Knowing how great Chaeyoung is as a person compared to these people and now that the opposites are meeting together, it became alarming for her.
It continued. Dahyun got to witness subtle changes on Chaeyoung. Her attitude and ego went bigger, she started using some curse words, she barely meets up with her and if she does, she looks forced and uninterested. She even got to do some tattoos around her skin which shocked Dahyun more, knowing that Chaeyoung used to despise these.
One day, Dahyun finally had enough of this; watching her friend slowly losing the version of her friend she mostly liked being around with.
She knew exactly where Chaeyoung's location might be and she was right. She located at one of the favorite spots of the gang, that one bench under the tree that they self-proclaimed own.
She might be waiting for the others who belong to the gang managed by Chanyeol. But she didn't care. She has to confront Chaeyoung and end this now.
"Chaeyoung."
Her friend looked at her.
"Oh, Dahyun? Wassup."
"Can I talk to you for a second?"
"Uhh sure? But go faster please, they are coming soon."
"Who? Them? I don't care."
Chaeyoung raised her eyebrow. "Excuse me?"
"I have to talk to you, Chae. Right now."
"About what is it then? If that won't be worth my time then-"
"It's about you, Chae. And really, you don't really care that much now at what goes on with us?"
"It's not like that, okay? I'm telling you that they're coming and I don't want to get in trouble."
"So you prioritize being with them much than to sincerely lend atleast just a minute to talk with me, is this what you really are now Chaeng?", Dahyun complained. "And I don't need you to warn me. I'm already in trouble now, Chaeng. Ever since you got to get close with them you just started to become... different."
"Dahyun, what are you saying? I'm still your friend and I'm still here."
"That's not what I'm talking about Chaeng. The version I've known of you. There. That's the one who... went gone. I couldn't even believe I'm seeing you like this."
Chaeyoung remained silent.
"Wearing tighter uniform, drinking beers, smoking cigarettes, curses and attitude, even that tattoos that are imprinted in your body. That's not that Chaeyoung I've known once.", Dahyun enumerated.
"And that all started when you let yourself hang around with them which I don't even know how did it started.", Dahyun continued. "But this isn't right. I know it, and I can see it on you, Chae. They are a bad influnce. They changed you for the worse when you were broken."
In Dahyun's surprise, Chaeyoung reacted with a laughter.
"Really? That's how you see it? That's bad, we are not alike. I am enjoying it though."
"You like what they're doing to you?!", Dahyun unbelievably reacted. "No, Chae. This isn't right, you don't know what's happening to you. They've turned you into someone I didn't want you to be."
Dahyun grasped Chaeyoung's shoulders and looked at her deeply.
"Chaeyoung, you must stop meeting and hanging around with them. Think about how it affects us, me as your friend, your mom who only has you left in her. Don't let them change you for something you aren't."
Chaeyoung stared at Dahyun for a second. Her silence made Dahyun keep her hopes up that her words somehow made her friend reconsider things and choose the right decision.
That didn't worked well however, as Chaeyoung started to slip Dahyun's hands away from touching her shoulders and turn her body around, her back now facing Dahyun.
Dahyun observed that Chaeyoung was shaking her head.
"No... you're wrong. I became better. They're not as bad as you think they are. They helped me feel better when I was down."
"Chaeyoung, really?! I WAS THE ONE WHO WAS THERE BY YOUR SIDE RIGHT FROM THE START!"
"YEAH, AND YOUR COMPANY WASN'T EVEN HELPFUL!", Chaeyoung turned around again just to shout directly at Dahyun. The latter got taken aback, astounded at her sudden outrage and her... offensive words.
"You may be the one who came to me at that night, but all the words you said to me was nothing but what ifs, false hopes and lies. Everything you said didn't came true like you and I wanted to be. But do you know what differs you from them?"
Chaeyoung placed her hands on her waist as she looks fiercely at Dahyun who is listening to her.
"You failed to put me back together, but they weren't. They showed me different, new things to try... and I never known it would be so much better than the ones I'm having with you."
Dahyun got hurt at Chaeyoung's words more.
"Now go away before I finally change my mind. Don't make this worse, Dahyun."
She turned her body around again to return back to the bench but to Dahyun's side, she won't let it end this way anymore. She has to make her stop.
"No I won't leave unless you have to listen to me. Please, Chaeyoung stay away from them. I'm doing this to-"
"SHUT UPPPPP!!!!"
She haven't got to finish her words when she didn't expected what happened to her afterwards.
Chaeyoung slapped her hard right in the face, causing her to lean away and grasp her stinging cheek.
The hand Chaeyoung used remained raised and upright, shivering as she halted in shock as she just realized that she just slapped her friend.
She hurted her bestfriend physically for the first time.
"D-Dahyun?"
Dahyun slowly turned to her, Chaeyoung got shocked at her eyes forming pool of tears begging to get released while still caressing her assaulted cheek.
"O-oh my God. I-I'm sorry... I-"
She was about to touch Dahyun to help and apologize more but she got prevented when Dahyun stepped back and dodged away from her.
"N-no... don't come close to me..."
"Dahyun..."
"I finally understood all along. You are not her. You are not the real one I met and cherished. You chose others than me who cares more for you.
Chaeyoung, you were no longer a friend of mine I used to have."
Chaeyoung became speechless at what Dahyun just said. A teardrop finally fell straight to the cheek she just slapped with and that was the last thing she saw before she leaves.
The two never talked about what happened, Chaeyoung didn't wanted or dared to beg for forgiveness again to Dahyun anymore, since her bestfriend who now turned to become a former never wanted to associate things with her again, finding ways to ignore her completely whenever she tries to find her.
That one slap made Chaeyoung to lose Dahyun, and Dahyun accepted the fact that her friend was now truly gone.
---------------
THE NEXT DAY
"Let's continue later, okay?" Irene respectfully paused their topic they were discussing while they are walking away from school as they've already reached the roads where they have to seperate ways on their way home.
Dahyun realized ahead that this is the part where they have to bid each other goodbye for today after Irene mentioned it. "Yeah sure unnie. Bye! Be safe!"
"You too, Dahyunnie!". They waved hands at one another with a smile. Irene initially continued to walk and make a turn to another street while Dahyun waited for the cars to allow space for her to cross the road.
The cars passing through get lessened and Dahyun finally was able to cross through the pedestrian lane properly and step onto another sidewalk of another street.
She walked alone, silent, mind usually filled again with thoughts regarding the lessons they've learned hours ago and brand new activities that were assigned to them; being the brilliant and responsible student like she always is.
However, her taking of notes mentally had to stop temporarily when all of a sudden she was about to pass an alleyway, a group of fellow familiar students of hers from the same school blocked her way.
Dahyun paused her tracks and traced all of their faces. Her smile faded rapidly as her eyes landed to Chanyeol's devilish smirk.
"W-what do you all want from me?", Dahyun cautiously asked them, one foot went backward like she's ready to defend herself from them after sensing an impending danger brought by them.
"Easy there, ghost. This won't take long, as long as you'll cooperate.", Chanyeol said. "Take one more step back and we'll make sure you won't go away until we settle things off. Although, if you do want to go home with a broken feet."
Dahyun gulped in fear. Sweat starts to form and emerge in her skin, dripping in terror at what these hotheads want to deal with her.
She looked next at Chaeyoung who is the next person she immediately noticed. Standing beside them, only looking at her with a blank and unbothered demeanor.
"I won't run off, I just want to know what are you all doing here. Did you all just hide and waited for me?"
"Thanks for stating the obvious, nerd.", Chanyeol replied, making his members laugh but Chaeyoung remained expressionless. "Well, you're right. Now that you're wondering why, well we'll go straightforward and not waste any more time."
"What is it?"
"Apologize.", Chanyeol sternly said.
"For what? Yesterday?", Dahyun asked. "You were the ones who started it. You cornered Irene and forcefully asked her to go out with you even though she doesn't want it. My friend was frightened and alone. I just came there to help her, and now you want me to apologize when you are the one to blame?"
"No. I think you're mistaken. YOU are the one who should apologize, Chanyeol; especially to Irene.", Dahyun pointed her finger at him bravely.
Chanyeol chuckled and looked aside to his friends. "Look at this bitch. She wants me to say sorry." The rest just shook their head disapprovingly.
"Like I said, I admire your guts; but I won't let it pass when I'm the one you're opposing with."
"AAAAGGGHHH!!"
Chanyeol quickly grabbed Dahyun's hair and pulled it tight. The schoolgirl just shrieked in pain.
"Nobody tells me to apologize, do you hear me? I'M ALL OUT OF MERCY. I call things around here!", the volume of his voice began increasing as well as the level of her grip to her smooth long black hair. As expected, Chaeyoung was still watching her without doing anything.
"AWWWWWW L-LET ME GO PLEASE!"
"Then apologize! I told you already that this will be quick if you just cooperate, now look at you pathetic bitch. How long will your courage last now, huh?"
Dahyun didn't said anything. Chanyeol's impatience intensifies so what he did next is that he laid Dahyun's face on the concrete surface of the road and presses his knuckles on the side of her head.
The girl exclaim awfully, can't take the abuse of this cruel guy threatening her just to say sorry for something she's not even the one at fault.
"APOLOGIZE!!!"
"O-okay! Okay!!! I-I'm sorry. I'm sorry! Just, let go off me!", Dahyun's pleads finally urged her to do something without no more other choice but to say the words this bully wants to hear from her.
Her breaths became heavy as Chanyeol finally lets go of her hair and head, allowing her to clutch herself in pain.
She kneeled. Chanyeol raised up her face by cupping her in the chin, making her to equally measure the level of their faces staring at each other.
"See, that wasn't hard to do; you're just too hardheaded that you didn't want it instead.", Chanyeol once again smirked. "You did said sorry, but... you know me; I'm not an easy person."
Dahyun just gritted her teeth, still enduring the stinging sensation of her head and scalp from the pressure Chanyeol just put in her.
"To show that you mean it and to teach you a lesson that you must know the person you're messing with, I'm giving you a mission to do for us."
Dahyun sighed, unbelievably looked at Chanyeol. She thought this was over and one sorry was enough but how dumb is she to forgot that Chanyeol is a bad person.
"Starting tomorrow, you'll be the one who'll do the homeworks for us for the whole month. We have an assignment tomorrow in English. Reaction paper about The Lottery by Shirley Jackson. Make one for all of us."
Dahyun's eyes widened in shock. This is just so mean, she thought. She doesn't deserve this at all, it is simply injustice to be the one who'll get a punishment when she's the victim and the defendant here at the same time.
"If you won't and we ended up incomplete or late; I'm going to make you regret disrespecting me more. Do you understand?"
Dahyun was silent, still couldn't believe about what's happening to her.
Her silence didn't last lomg when the impatient Chanyeol hit his palm again on her head, causing a small ouch sound out of Dahyun's mouth.
"I- I'll do it."
"Good. You can go home. One more thing, don't you dare report this to anyone.", Chanyeol gave her one last warning before walking away with her friends including Chaeyoung who just watched her former bestfriend get hurt like it was no effect from her. "Let's go, there's a vape shop near here. We'll take a visit."
As they left, the abused Dahyun couldn't hold her tears anymore as she started crying due to Chanyeol's unfairness and heartless actions while the person who was the one who doesn't want to see her torn apart before can now endure seeing her like that.
Like she always thought, she's just a forgotten past of Chaeyoung's memories.
---------------
As they were now meters away from Dahyun, Chaeyoung finally drops her cool and disguise as she kept on hearing Chanyeol brags about how Dahyun looked horrible on being in his control, resulting in her forced surrender.
"What the hell was that, Chanyeol?!" Chaeyoung interrogates Chanyeol, stopping him from mocking and teasing Dahyun's pity state at what happened a while ago. All of their eyes landed on her.
"I thought we agreed not to put your hands on her?!"
"I can't help it." Chanyeol said faking nonchalantly. "She doesn't understand the situation. She doesn't know how fucked up she is by opposing us. That's why I have to show and remind her how me and our gang are the most fearsome individuals around the campus."
"But still, you don't have to do it. We talked about it, right? You could've let me handle it." Chaeyoung objected.
Chanyeol chuckled, squinting her eyes at Chaeyoung with a wide grin plastered in his face. "You, huh? Why? You going to go easy on her instead?"
Chanyeol walked towards Chaeyoung, his towering figure and serious demeanor intimidates the short and sassy girl.
"W-what?"
"You can't take how your friend looked and sound defenseless, don't you?", Chanyeol said. "Does she still affects your soft spot in your heart? Do you... wanted to help her in that instance rather?"
Chanyeol leaned his face closer at Chaeyoung who backs away, gulping and throbbing nervously at how scary his aura has shifted.
"N-no. I just want her not to become a burden for you to manage, Chanyeol. I know her, you don't have to go that far. You have many other things to focus on, lend her to me and I'll be the one who'll do the first move."
"What makes you so sure?", Chanyeol crossed his arms and looked at her interrogatively.
"Because I'm her weakness.", Chaeyoung confidently daid. "I am her wound, and the one way to heal it is for her to aid it is by dealing with me."
Chanyeol stared at her Chaeyoung for a second before her lips curved into a smile. "Hmm at the very least, I appreciate the thoughtfulness.", he hummed.
"Fine. I'm sorry." Chaeyoung softened Chanyeol in a rare occasion. "Next time: I'll give you the gun of opportunity. I'll let you be the one to pull the trigger."
He poked Chaeyoung's tip of the nose before nodding in agreement. He walked again along with the other members who are just listening at watching them talk, while Chaeyoung tailed behind them; the glimpse of her discreet manipulation disturbs her.
5 DAYS LATER
"Finally." Dahyun muttered in a huge sight of relief as she adored the sight of all scattered papers in her table, all filled with contents produced from her own handwriting but not intended for her.
She finally completed and finished all the reaction papers assigned by Chanyeol to her that she will give later to them.
All set to be delivered, Dahyun fixed her things before leaving the library. Just as when she was about to exit, she encountered Chaeyoung who appeared very close in front of her, nearly colliding at one another.
The two stared to reprocess before both returns to full consciousness, Dahyun squinted her eyes filled with hatred, lips straightened, and mood slightly got shakened at the sight of Chaeyoung who just like the same as the rest of the days whenever they meet, empty and unmovable.
She noticed the papers labeled as reaction papers held by Dahyun on her arms. She sniggered before stating bluntly again. "You did it."
"Should I suppose to be happy hearing that?", Dahyun raised her eyebrow full of arrogance. "I may be allowing this just because I'm outnumbered and threatened but I promise to all of you, this will be the last time you'll be doing so. Karma will hit all of you soon."
Chaeyoung scoffed. "Just be grateful they didn't went extreme to you already. You should learn by now, so be still."
Dahyun elicited a small smile and a shake of her head. "Looks like you are also." Chaeypung just crunched her eyebrows, clueless what she's pointing at.
"What does it even mean?"
"You really are indeed hopeless, old friend." Dahyun only said before walking right past to her, leaving Chaeyoung both in perplexion and curiousity.
As Dahyun goes next to her classroom, she noticed that some of the members in the gang were casually talking together near the storage room.
She pursed her ears further, trying to eavesdrop their conversation.
"Boss Chanyeol has the right to become suspicious of her okay?"
"Yeah I know, until now even me doesn't fully accept and welcome her on being part of the group. The first thing I sense of her is that she will just turn out to be a bad charm to us."
"You're right. That's why if she failed someday, I hope boss won't hesitate to finally kick her out. I can't stand her anymore honestly."
"Oh I can't wait for that to happen. It will be be so satisfying to watch."
"Hahahaha that princess tigress will be tamed by her owner."
As they've gone complete silent, Dahyun thinks that this is the time for her to leave. As she does so though, her eyes are sprung up, mind gone crazy and gooesbumps all over her body as she heard about all of their evil schemes prepared for her former bestfriend once it backfires.
For the first time in years, Dahyun has never felt so heavily worried and afraid for her former bestfriend despite being betrayed and abandoned.
The next day, Dahyun gives another set of completed homeworks to the gang that was sent to her yesterday. As expected they are satisfied and impressed.
She was about to leave their secret spot quickly when Chanyeol called her one more time.
"Before you go, remind yourself to meet us at the base later at 6:30 PM. I will tell you the activity you'll do for us. Don't be late. Are we clear?"
Dahyun looked around at them first before answering. "Yes."
Chanyeol then gave her a nod gesture as a signal for her to finally leave. As she vanished, Chanyeol and the rest of the group wore a mischievous smirk.
"See you later."
Dahyun walks swiftly on her feet, frantically looking around back and forth at everything she passes through as she wants to track the sole person she wants to meet as soon as possible.
She couldn't believe she has to do this but something feels odd in her that she must have to.
At last, her series of wandering throughout the areas of the campus came into a stop when she finally saw someone she has to meet urgently.
She walked even faster and when she is now inches away from her, she waited for her presence to be acknowledged.
She side glanced, that's where Dahyun took the signal.
"Chaeyoung."
The girl faced away from tracing the bulletin board while holding her paint tools and a canva. She spun around, meeting the person who called her by her name for quite a long time now.
"Dahyun? What are you doing here?"
"I know we are destined to hate each other forever, but I just have to ask you this.", she coldly said and paused before gliding back to her words. "Do you... really trust your friends in the gang a lot?"
"Isn't it obvious?  ofcourse. I do. What are you implying at?", she answered, furrowing her eyebrows.
"Then it means you...  haven't ever thought of a possibility that someday they might... turn on you and cause you to get ejected from them?"
Chaeyoung eyes blinked puzzedly in a moment, her lips plopped as if she was about to say something back but that statement coming from Dahyun seemed like it got her otherwise.
"Checkmate."
"S-shut up.", Chaeyoung rudely denied. "Did you really just came to meet me here and have this type of talk again, Dahyun?"
"Why couldn't you just answer my question?"
"Damn it, fine! You're so insufferable.", Chaeyoung huffed and rolled her eyes. They would never do that to me. Why would they, huh? I got their trust and they have mine. I belong to their group now. Isn't it enough?"
Dahyun nodded and acted satisfied and convinced with Chaeyoung's response. "Okay. If you say so.", she shrugged.
"Whatever. You don't even know what you're talking about."
Dahyun stood beside Chaeyoung and pushed her face closer to hers, wanting her to listen carefully at every bit of words out of her mouth.
"Beware though, you might eat your words very soon. If I were you, I won't let them out of my zone. You wouldn't know, maybe they're plotting already to get you lost."
Chaeyoung sarcastically chuckled at Dahyun. "What is this? Now you're concerned for me?"
"Don't be misintepret Chaeyoung. I didn't do it to be friends with you again. You can forget about it happening."
Her whole composure nearly gave up as her heart felt like it skipped some beats and her energy felt loosened after what she heard.
"I'm just doing this to open your eyes and stop fooling yourself. We both know you're better than that."
"You're completely delusional, aren't you?", Chaeyoung pushed Dahyun on her shoulder with a jab of her palm. "I don't know what are you exactly trying to do with all these nonsense-"
"Yeah, nonsense? Alright, say whatever excuses you got Chaeyoung but let me tell you this.", Dahyun interrupted Chaeyoung as her voice gone aggressive.
"You will never be one of them. You don't belong in that group because you are way beyond than them... and that would make them care less about you."
Dahyun finally gave Chaeyoung some space to take all of those words and reconsider things in her mind.
The possibilities and imaginations about it occuring had Chaeyoung uncomfortable thinking about all of it at once, fondling her fingers and lip bites to catch the adrenaline of concerns for herself.
4 HOURS LATER
Chaeyoung was just eating chips along with her gangmates on their base when one of their members who left after being commanded by Chanyeol returned with some filled plastic bags on both of his hands.
He placed it all on the table. Chanyeol stood up and checked all the contents. Chaeyoung got confused at what she saw.
They bought some bottles of strong beer and some snacks. "And the other one?", Chanyeol asked Lai, the accomplice that he tasked on this.
"It's here, boss." Lai reached for the pocket of her jacket and pulled out the thing inside to give to Chanyeol.
The rest became more interested as they saw what's placed in Chanyeol's hand.
"Boss, is that... a-are we doing drugs?" Sehun said, referring to some white pills wrapped in a plastic.
"We are." That sounded controversial, exchanges of looks was thrown by the members at each other including Chaeyoung who had the slight look of objection in her eyes.
"... but this isn't for us.", Chanyeol caressed it with his fingers. "We're going to give this to someone else."
"I invited Dahyun earlier to come here, right? She agreed which obviously she has to.", Chanyeol added . "She's gonna be here soon, and she doesn't know completely the plans I do have in mind for her tonight."
"Mind if you tell us, boss?"
Chaeyoung also listened more intently.
"Well, I just want to give her some appreciation for everything that she's done for us. ", Chanyeol confidently said. His head fell, eyes returned to the view of the pills again. "But... there's something more I would like her to do for us, and I won't be letting her even say yes or no for it."
"Dahyun... is indeed a very attractive woman. Such a shame nobody's interested at her just because of being a nerd overshadows her beauty.", Chanyeol frowned. The members agreed, nodding quickly while Chaeyoung's brows knitted at how suspicious he's getting.
"But I'm an observant one... and I would like to be one to try how good does she really is when she's out of her shell."
"So here's my plan. We're going to make her join us to drink and then, when she gets drunk... this pill inside of this plastic; would boost her sexual desires...."
"Oh shit! Boss, are you saying... we're going to have a taste of her too?"
"Exactly. Let's see how gorgeous she really is if we discard her innocent and smarty self."
Chaeyoung's widened as it finally sinked in what does Chanyeol is probably wanting to do to Dahyun.
She remembered what Dahyun told her a while ago, and it kept getting repetitive and louder inside her head like it does warns her of an impending bad situation she's going to regret if she won't prevent it.
"Damn! Man, I always wanted to spank and eat that meaty ass she got. Finally, the wait will be over later."
Chaeyoung heard that disgusting and vile comment coming from Sehun. She wasn't even aware that her glare got even intense and venomous as it directed to him after saying that. It sounded so wrong and illegal to her.
"Now let's just wait for her to come and begin. We're going to have fun tonight." All of them cheered like idiots. Chaeyoung just roamed her eyes at them, pissed and frustrated at how far they've gone through.
Dahyun was her former bestfriend, but deep inside she knows and she admits that Dahyun will forever be the one that will make her succumb and retreat in case something bad happens to her.
She just can't do it, hiding it behind her mask of her new self. She doesn't know, but at this situation going on... it seems that this is very inappopriate already and a huge cross out to her that she shouldn't be able to let this one pass this time.
For the first time, Chaeyoung would pick the right choice.
"No."
Chanyeol and the rest looked at her. "Excuse me?"
"You heard me. I said no."
"Do you have any more to say, Chaeyoung?"
"I am. I want you all to leave her alone. Stop this. Let her now go.", Chaeyoung stood up from sitting at one of the empty boxes stored near the wall. "Like you said, she did what you tasked her to do. The deal was done, isn't it enough?"
Chanyeol squinted his eyes. "So you're saying..."
"Please, don't do anything to Dahyun. I told you, I'll handle her on my own. Leave her alone. We can just move on and target new ones but not her.", Chaeyoung's voice softened in plead. It's been a while since she has that tone when it regards to Dahyun.
"Now you're siding with her? What's with the change of heart, Chaeyoung? You can't pull the trigger anymore?"
Chanyeol stood up, walks and faces the troubled and guilty Chaeyoung.
"Too bad, I'm the one in charge here. I make the decisions around here and all you have to do, is to fall in line with us."
Chaeyoung looked up at Chanyeol and stares at him with angst.
"Fuck that. I'm done with this. I'm a nobody's bitch."
She slapped Chanyeol hard in the face reminiscence of what she did to Dahyun before. That was her symbol of answer, a choice, a loyalty... and a side to stand with.
"This doesn't have to be this way, Chaeyoung... but you left me no other choice. I'll do the honors for you instead."
In a snap, Chaeyoung bended her body and grasped her stomach in pain as Chanyeol heavily punched it.
"I knew you couldn't do it. You never changed. You will always be just like your friend and anyone we dominate in here: weak and pathetic."
"But you're even worse than them. You're a traitor."
One kick goes right to Chaeyoung's arm, she groaned in pain as her body fell to the ground.
"You used me to put you back together..."
Another kick but it connected to the leg this time. A teardrop escaped on Chaeyoung's poor eyes.
"I gave you what you wanted, a better company, welcomed you in when you felt alone and this is what you do to me in return!!!"
A slap fired through Chaeyoung's face, her cheeks reddened and stinged at the impact. The hit was so loud that even the members began to wince at how Chanyeol visibly looks even more outraged.
Chanyeol pulls her hair and tugged it upward, facing Chaeyoung who is now crying horribly in front of him.
"Remember this, from now on.... you just made the worst mistake of your life. Starting today, you and your ghostfreak friend, you both caused me a lot of problems, now I will make your highschool life a living hell.
"Boss, that's enough. You made her fear you now." Sehun went behind Chanyeol, putting his hand on top of his shoulder.
Chanyeol infuriatedly drops Chaeyoung's messy hair, falling back into the ground again and curl her body to ease all of the pain she's feeling somehow while she hurtfully cries at the abuse.
"She should've been that at the very start. Now I know she just treats me like a joke, I'm even more motivated to ruin their smiles.", Chanyeol snagged before spitting a saliva that went to Chaeyoung's sleeve due to lack of aim.
"Let's go somewhere to drink. I can't stand to see ghostfreak and this traitor all at once for now, we'll deal with them tomorrow."
They all brought their belongings with them as they left their dugout, leaving the recently evicted Chaeyoung in the ground; once again all alone by herself but this time, she did it for a great decision.
Few minutes later after the departure of the gang, Dahyun appeared at the scene wearing a simple casual attire. From the distance of the corridor, her eyes widened and face expanded in astoundment as she saw Chaeyoung wailing on the floor.
"Chaeyoung?"
She didn't reacted.
Dahyun made couple more steps forward to lure herself closer to her ex-friend.
"Chae- CHAEYOUNG!"
Now she ran and kneeled beside Chaeyoung. She assisted her to get up and there her features were presented to Dahyun, she sees nothing but disdain, destruction and shattered soul.
"What happened to you?!" Dahyun hastily asked Chaeyoung who is still heavily crying on her arms.
She still didn't speak. Dahyun made the adjustment instead by checking Chaeyoung's body. There, her heart cracked when she saw some bruises and wounds on her arm and legs, including a red spot in her cheek.
"THEY DID THIS TO YOU?!", Dahyun shouted. Chaeyoung just nodded.
"WHY?!"
"I... I-... I left their group."
"Y-you did w-what...?"
"I left their group... f-for you."
Chaeyoung didn't followed up more as she just snapped out from her consciousness, probably got tired out too much from what she suffered. She fell into slumber right on Dahyun who was only left confused at the last word she said.
"For me?" She repeated. She looked again at the resting Chaeyoung with eagerness to obtain the reason why.
------------------
"How did I-" Chaeyoung paused after lingering her eyes around her bedroom, lying down on her own personal bed.
"Dahyun?" She called the name of the girl sitting on the chair beside her closet, watching her freshly woke up from resting.
"You got hit pretty bad that you had to sleep for 5 hours." Dahyun nonchalantly asid, crossing her arms and legs while sitting.
She looked around the familiar interior of the room she's sharing with the person she used to know before too. "I thought even the designs of your room would change just like you, but I'm surprised you left it untouchable. It's been a long time since I can freely enter here whenever I want."
Chaeyoung went silent, revisiting those blocked memories she used to have with her in their childhood days. "H-how did you bring me here?"
"I carried you, you're still a lightweight.", Dahyun boastfully said. "What happened to you back there? Did you got all of those from them?"
Chaeyoung covered her body with her blanket more, feeling embarassed to reveal it at the person who was the one trying to warn her all along from having this happen. It's funny how the karma became reality just in a few hours following.
"N-no... only Chanyeol."
"What did you do to make him hurt you like that? I suppose that's the first time you. both had a physical altercation.", Dahyun guessed. "What did you mean... you left their group because you did it for me?"
Chaeyoung gulped, looking away from Dahyun. "I said t-that?"
"You did, not until you passed out from low energy." Dahyun replied. "So I'm asking you again and clarify it to me... what have you've done?"
Chaeyoung sighed and looked at Dahyun with her droopy eyes. "Earlier they... they were talking about you. Chanyeol wanted to do something on you."
"At our meetup?"
She nodded. "He instructed one of us to bought beers. He was suppose to invite you to drink with them and you have to accept it. I didn't even expected that they're something more that I never liked to discover."
"What do they want from me?", Dahyun continues to become authorative on her questions.
"They wanted to drug you, okay?! As you drink more and more, they want you to be sexually driven and... you know what's gonna happen next."
"Oh god..." Dahyun gasped. "W-what? They tried t-to take advantage-"
"They were also lusting about you like the perverts they were. I know we don't like each other but... hearing somebody about to get raped and me as a w-woman... did nothing about it, even f-for you... it just feels so wrong.", Chaeyoung bowed down her head.
Dahyun was speechless, still shocked and in disbelief that she almost put herself in that nightmare and trauma, but all thanks to Chaeyoung, her former friend; unexpectedly sacrificed her allegiance to backstab her entire gang just to save her.
Her lost in her thoughts ended instantly when all of a sudden, Dahyun heard a sniff and small soft cries coming from Chaeyoung.
She was covering her face, burying it on her palm.
"I don't understand... w-why did you have to help me. You shouldn't be doing this after everything I've done from you. I betrayed you. I left my only true friend and labeled her useless and unreliable. Why, Dahyun? Why did you have to heal me?!" Chaeyoung's anger, guilt and conflicted questions that she fired all at once at Dahyun made the volume of her tone increase in intensity.
Dahyun watched Chaeyoung finally took accountable of her wrongdoings. It felt nice to finally see herself at fault here, but it was still unfair for her on the other hand knowing and believing she does still have a part of mistakes here also.
"You're speaking as if you didn't do the same for me Chaeyoung." , Dahyun retorted. "If you want to know why... I'm actually not so sure either.", she shrugged.
"I couldn't help it. It was like an urge of redemption that I have to do. It felt like I was now finally proving myself that I can heal you it's just... I could've done it a lot better earlier. I could've been a better friend you're expecting me to be.", Dahyun clenches her fist, admitting her own fault also.
"No, you're not Dahyun.", Chaeyoung corrected. Dahyun looked at her in curiosity. "It was all me. I'm the one who looked at you falsely. You didn't have to pressure herself like that to improve for me, I could've done better also to make you feel that you are doing your role well.", she said while wiping the tears flowing from her eyes and cheeks.
"I didn't wanted to hurt your feelings and break your trust, Dahyun. Trust me, I wanted to approach you and fix my mistake many times... but I understand that you wouldn't want to see me."
"In my heart... y-you're still a friend to me. I saved you because after all this time... I still think about you. I'm concerned about you. You were right, i'm not suitable to be with them... and I couldn't believe I left the right one who can provide me the true meaning of what a real friendship should be."
Dahyun couldn't take it anymore. It was too much to contain, too much to resist, too much to act tough. Chaeyoung's words of regret, guilt and apology got her retreat on her emotions. Tears of her own began escaping also from her eyes.
"It should've been you, Dahyun. I should've stayed. I'm not hoping for you to forgive me, I'm just begging for you to understand because... we do are destined to fight forever."
Dahyun stood up from her chair and positioned herself near at Chaeyoung who is still crying hard.
"You're right. And I did mean what I said before. You can forget about us being friends...
... because we're sisters, Chaeyoung."
Chaeyoung slowly released her face from her hands and look at Dahyun. In her surprise, Dahyun was smiling at her with tears also streaming on her face. She was in the dark ever since she changed, and it does felt refreshing and completely relieving that  there's a light who is willing to rescue her again.
Without any further ado, Dahyun extended her arms; signalling Chaeyoung to do one simple thing to make things assured and settled like they both always wanted to finally happen.
Chaeyoung removed the blanket around her and raised herself up, extending her own arms too as she accepted Dahyun's welcoming body for a warm, longing and forgiving hug.
"I missed you so much Dahyun. I'm very sorry." Chaeyoung said as she buried her face on Dahyun's crook.
"It's okay now, Chaeng. I'm sorry too and yes... I missed this. I missed us being like this.", Dahyun smiled, shutting her eyes close to indulge the great feeling of finally recovering the special person she lost in her life. Meanwhile, Chaeyoung smiled and blushed as she heard her sister call her by her favorite nickname again.
"Now that we are back together, there's only one more thing that matters and our newly reformed bond is the key for it, Chaeng. We have both common enemies now, and all we have to do is to get back against them."
Dahyun heard Chaeyoung hummed in agreement and her head bobbed either.  Feeling inspired, uplifted and confident, with the assistance of Chaeyoung this time, she is now ready to beat Chanyeol and his gang and stop them from targeting other innocent students and end up like them.
The only question remains is... how?
That until, Chaeyoung had a bright idea on what they are going to do.
-------------------
THE NEXT DAY
"So... this is them?"
"Yeah."
Dahyun asked Chaeyoung, pointing at all three students that are standing in line in front of them; clueless at what is the purpose of being in here.
"Alright. Everyone, before we start... I have to introduce myself first. I am Kim Dahyun from Grade 11 and-"
"We already know her."
One of the two out of three female students blurted as she stares deadly at Chaeyoung who noticed and avoids it with shame. "Aren't y-you... one of Chanyeol's slaves? W-what is this? What are you going to-"
"Everyone, please listen to us." Dahyun interjected, defending her friend who is too speechless from a state of shock and terror. "Her name is Chaeyoung and yes, she did became a member from them... but that was before. She's now gone, she chose to quit from that unsafe gang.", Dahyun explained to them sincerely.
The other three students began muttering at each other before the student once again spoke to communicate further.
"S-she really did?"
"Yes. If she wouldn't, she wouldn't be standing here with me and..."
"... a-and... ask for your cooperation.", Chaeyoung took the turn to speak. Dahyun lets her and the students faced her altogether, they paid attention to her even more.
"H-how could we even give that t-to you if you haven't d-done anything to s-save us before?", the only guy in them three had difficulty breathing saying those words as the memory of his suffering at the hands of those unruly, sinister, troublesome teenagers.
"Because I-I'm doing this to help you guys this time.", Chaeyoung replies. She began to slowly lower her body to the ground until she was only in her knees. The three students including Dahyun were surprised at her manners.
"E-eh? M-Miss..."
"P-please... I'm begging you all. I'm heavily sorry for everything. I'm just a victim of Chanyeol's manipulative and authorative control including her beatdown he gave to me after I did the right thing.", Chaeyoung begs on her knees, bowing down her body to the ground as she grasped the hem of the dress of the student while crying.
"I want to redeem myself for each one of you. This time, I want him to be taken down, but knowing him... he's got backups. I'm alone, but I need ones too on my back.", Chaeyoung pleads to the female student on the middle. She monitors and saw how she's desperate and needy she looks. Three of them started to have their faces filled with wince and worry.
"I hope all of you accept and agree with me. I promise, again... I'll give you all the help I should've done if I wasn't get stolen by Chanyeol t-to my friend Dahyun here.", Chaeyoung looked at Dahyun who just gave her a small smile.
"C-can you stand up f-first, Miss Chaeyoung?"
"C-call me Chae. It's shorter." Chaeyoung followed the order of the student.
"If you do meant it so much and we all have the same despise to only one person and taste the medicine of his karma, w-we'll take it."
Chaeyoung and Dahyun's smile beamed brighter at the great news.
"Thank you so much! We truly appreciate it."
"If you guys want to do it too... then what shall we have to do?"
---------------
Dahyun and Chaeyoung were currently standing at the entrance of the canteen where many students are gathered to eat or order foods of their own choosing.
Among in this crowded place was Chanyeol and his gang joining somebody who looks very weak and shy as they kept on teasing him about immature jokes.
"He's there." Dahyun said as she mentioned Chanyeol's positive trace in the area.
"I'll go near them first. You know what to do next, okay?"
"Yeah, be careful. Try not to make it messier with them." Dahyun advised.
"It will be the difference from them. They cause chaos always, Dubu." Chaeyoung and enters and sealed her eyes across the ridiculous view.
"Why do you even eat too much of these?" Chanyeol problematically asked the little anxious guy. "No wonder why do you end up being thin as fuck like these french fries." They all burst into laughter as Chanyeol threw a piece straight through the victim's face.
"Enough. Leave him in peace, Chanyeol."
All of the gang rotated their heads at the source of that voice. Chanyeol knitted his brows and mouth agaped quizzically at why in the world would be their biggest problem just stood at their table without even preparing herself not to be embarassed by them.
"Look who just showed up.", Chanyeol gritted his teeth. "Speaking of the devil, huh."
"Don't worry, I'll let him go this time." He then threw all of the french fries at the shy student before standing up, removing himself on the seat and slowly went across Chaeyoung. "I'll give it to him, he's free.
"But this isn't going to be the same as you, Chaeyoung. Since you're here, now I got to invade your peaceful interactions or none rather, and you owe me a nightmare for you to suffer."
"Don't bother. Being your ally was way worse than a nightmare. I consider it as a curse."
"Watch your mouth you backstabbing shark. The audacity of you, I still haven't forget what you've done to us, you little traitor.", Chanyeol grabbed Chaeyoung's face and aggresively sank his fingers beneath the latters' soft flesh of her face.
"Then do something, bitch.", Chaeyoung grabbed Chanyeol's thump at her chin and catched it with a huge bite, enabling to sprung out Chanyeol's hand away from the girl as he screamed in pain.
"You're testing me now, huh. You aren't taking this seriously. You think I'm just playing a game with you." He gave his thunb some twirls, puff of air and peck of kiss to settle down the amount of pain it received.
"Let's raise the stakes then, let's get physical." Chanyeol then almost gave Chaeyoung's a strong blow of his fist ahead of the side of her head when in a blink of an eye, everyone was in shock including Chanyeol when Chaeyoung just catched his fist just in time.
"W-what the-"
She threw it away before Chaeyoung stood even more fearlessly at him, tiptoeing just to nearly match his menacing stare.
"Come on, hit me if you want. I wouldn't care less anymore. I'll just end up striking back harder than you can give."
"You must've gone crazy, dipshit!" Chanyeol landed a knee to Chaeyoung's midsection, kneeling down on her former master's feet.
All of the students and canteen servers watched the brawl between Chaeyoung and Chanyeol as all of them chanted "oooh" sounds whenever each of them exchanges a better attack.
Chanyeol tugged her hair upwards but Chaeyoung spun around and holds his wrist, twisting it around which elicited a groan from him. She drags it down, colliding the bone of his arms to her shoulder blade.
"GET HER!!!"
Chanyeol infuriatedly initiated all of his sidemen as they rushed over at different spots with the same motive: block her off while they take the turn to inflict pain on Chaeyoung after.
In tight spot and outnunbered situation, Dahyun saw the male bullying victim of Chanyeol running in straight return back to her standing figure.
"Have you done it?" Dahyun asked him.
"Yes, Dahyun-noona." He nodded. He was about to give back a USB device to Dahyun when she ignored and pushed it in his chest instead.
"No, keep that with you for a moment. I'll go there and protect Chaeyoung."
Chaeyoung guarded the other three's actions as she quickly turns her head, only to be caught by distraction when Chanyeol kicked her between one of her knee, sending her to fall in the floor with her other one supporting the impact.
Chanyeol headlocked Chaeyoung, wrapping both of his arms around her neck. "WHAT? YOU CAN'T BREATHE? I CAN SHUT THE LIFE OUT OF YOU RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW IF I WANT."
"Hey."
One of the gang members who are grinning and watching Chaeyoung slowly get choked by their leader felt his back being poked.
He turned around, only to met by a brutal smack on the face by Dahyun using her shoe.
"D-Dahyun." She heard Chaeyoung's gurgled voice as she tries to break away from Chanyeol's trap.
Before she was about to help Chaeyoung, the rest charges to Dahyun but the latter avoided it with some dodges.
Chaeyoung was about to get knocked out from Chanyeol's headlock but she unleashes one last attempt at him, grabbing both of his eyes and forcefully scratches it as he screamed in pain.
Meanwhile, Dahyun received a blow to her back from Lai as she got finally caught after dealing first with the other one named Doyoung.
"EVERYONE OF YOU, STOP THE FIGHT!"
Sehun's about to slap her when his hand stopped mid-air just in time to look himself clearly the ones who are the suspects of this ruckus.
They just realized that it was such a bad timing and a screwed up moment from them. All of them were literally standing while Dahyun and Chaeyoung are on the floor, groaning in pain at the hits they took.
"PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE. NOW. ALL OF YOU WILL GET EXCUSED FROM YOUR CLASSES FOR THIS."
The principal shouted at all six of them who hesitatedly followed him as they walked by pair. Dahyun and Chaeyoung lets out one last glare at the gang especially Chanyeol who already look like he can commit a murder anytime.
The boy who ran to Dahyun and was about to lend back her USB device remained on his palm as he played it while watching them enter the office with anxiousness in his face as he joined by his two other fellow victims.
"Will they be okay?" The girl with the nametag that has Eunchae written on it asked.
"The truth always prevails." The boy named Jun said with his voice full of hope and assurance.
"Let's just wait and see what's gonna happen." The other one with them named Yujin said which Jun and Eunchae both nodded their heads.
Few minutes later, Dahyun and Chaeyoung exits the office first to avoid conflict in case they are plotting something to hurt each other again, especially as how they can tell from the losers based from the judgment created by the principal.
They both saw Jun, Eunchae and Yujin sitting at one of the benches outside the building.
"UNNIES!!!" They all stood up in sync. "What happened?!"
Dahyun and Chaeyoung looked at each other, a smile slowly appeared in their faces.
"We won."
All of them felt a huge relief and a breath of fresh air to inhale on their lungs as they finally managed to defeat those gangs that brings horror to this entire campus.
"Thanks to the USB that you sent Jun to the guidance office, they watched the video we made regarding your confessions about their bullying issues and even heard it personally from you guys... they considered it as an essential evidence." Chaeyoung explained.
In addition, it was proven immediately with no further investigation needed when Irene enters the principals office to interrupt the meeting and lets him watch the video she was recording.
Unbeknownst to Chanyeol and his gang, this is the first time that somebody dared to record their sinful acts when Irene records them bullying a guy before being interrupted by Chaeyoung.
As they left the principals office, they both thanked Irene as she excused herself to attend an organization meeting.
"It was reported immediately to the principal and there, including what he just witnessed at the cafeteria; they made up their mind even more to give them the worst punishment. They got expelled while us... well, we just have to go to a detention for 5 hours for being involved in the cafeteria fight." Dahyun chuckled and rubbed her nape.
"Wait... so does that mean we won't be able to s-see them ever again h-here?" Jun stutteredly said in bewilderment.
Dahyun nodded. The three felt like they are about to cry in joy.
All three of them ran at Dahyun and Chaeyoung and enveloped them in a group hug of appreciation.
"T-thank you... thank you unnies so much. We can finally go to school without being afraid by something we didn't deserve."
Dahyun and Chaeyoung hummed and expressed their willingness to help as they returned the pleasure of doing it.
As all of them left, Dahyun and Chaeyoung remained in their spot.
"So..."
"Yeah... hehe..."
They acted awkward at each other, struggling to compose theirselves at interacting together.
"We finally got what we wanted."
"Yeah, it's completely deserving of them. How do you feel?", Chaeyoung pondered.
"Me? It felt like... I'm available again. There's no one to stand in my way now on... bringing you back to me again." Dahyun said as she watched the other students strolling around the campus. "You?"
"I feel free and peaceful. I'm no longer jailed in his prison and... the alluring devilish voices of lies he kept on inserting in my head, it's all quiet now."
Dahyun nodded understandably. She looked at Chaeyoung, urging the latter to do the same for her.
"I know we had our own worlds apart in months. It made us think that we're destined to hate one another but... now I realized, we did started as something special."
"We are more than just bestfriends. We've had a sisterly bond that evolved throughout all of our childhood years. So, despite we got betrayed and be mad at ourselves; we are still fated that someday we will resolve our problems and our lives become related again..., we're sisters Chaeyoung. I can't leave you and so as you. At the end of the day, it will always just be you and me supporting each other through our toughest times."
"Forgiveness is anything and family is forever.", Chaeyoung said as she smiled with her dimples visible on her blushing cheeks. "It was indeed true, because I got to experience it with you Dahyun. Even after everything we'e gone through, we still end up looking for one another in the end."
Brought by their emotions and desire to reconcile to gain closure for their own, they hugged each other and at last, the feeling of happiness, thankfulness and lack of loneliness was one again had its strong presence revived that will only revolve between the both of them.
"I missed you so much, Chaeng. Welcome back." Dahyun said, clutching the back of her head as she pulled her closer on her more.
"I missed you too so much Dubu. I won't ever leave again, I only have one more chance remaining, I won't waste it anymore.", Chaeyoung sweared in return.
They stayed in others embrace for half a minute before they seperated as they hooked each other's head with their arms while they began to walk side by side.
"Hey, since we have 10 more minutes before detention; can we go to Building C for a while? I have a pineapple cake order to pick up from my Taiwanese friend that I just met few days ago.", Dahyun requested.
"Oh yeah sure, no problem. Wait, you said Taiwanese? She's an exchange student or what?"
"Nope, transferee. She's so nice and uhh... tall." Dahyun showed a silly grin. Chaeyoung saw that and half-lidded her eyes as she observes.
"Yah! Are you teasing me?"
"No! What are you saying,  I didn't do it on purpose! I swear she's really tall. I even had to raise my head a bit just to make eye contact with her. Have you ever forgot I'm also short like you?" Dahyun chuckled. "Although... I'm just inches taller than you."
"Yah! We just got back together and you're being like this to me already." Chaeyoung pouted. Dahyun laughed and patted her baby beast on the shoulder.
"Stop sulking now, we'll go eat those cakes during detention hours. Sounds good?"
"Really?", Chaeyoung's face enlightened.
"Yup."
"Yayyy! Brooo!!!" the cub offered their classic handshake they made before which brought them back to another jolly parts of the memories they've created together before which couldn't ever be forgotten.
Dahyun high-fived her buddy back,  gripped her hand and rattles it slightly before letting go with some explosive-like hand gesture. "Brooo!!!"
"I'll have you meet her. You two would get along, I promise." Dahyun smiled. They entered the building again and head through the stairs to climb up onto the next floor to search that foreign student together.

In Our Favor
Part 119
McCoy
Scotty had headed for the engineering labs after breakfast and McCoy strolled slowly back to their room, trying to decide what to do with his time. Perhaps a swim in the academy’s pool, maybe a call to Mother. He still hadn’t decided when a voice called behind him.
“Cadet!”
Being one of many in the area, McCoy glanced over his shoulder like others did.
“Cadet McCoy!”
Finally McCoy saw where the voice was coming from. Walking quickly towards him was an officer. He turned and stood waiting.
“Yes sir?” he asked as Lt. Cmdr. Sullivan came up to him.
“I’d like to speak with you please. In private.” Sullivan glanced around at the others walking by.
McCoy frowned, wondering what was happening. “Of course sir.”
Sullivan gestured and McCoy followed him towards a nearby building. Once inside, Sullivan found an empty room.
“What can I do for you sir?” McCoy asked cautiously. He watched as Sullivan appeared to lose all the stiffness of being an officer. His shoulders dropped but his jaw tightened.
“I— you can’t tell my sister.”
McCoy blinked. This was about Cora?
“Sir—?”
“She’ll think I’m overstepping and trying to be too protective,” Sullivan got out quickly. “But I’m allowed to worry about my baby sister!”
McCoy stared in confusion but said nothing else. The officer would get out what he was trying to say eventually. Sullivan ran a hand over his face, before dropping it suddenly back to his side.
“She went on a date yesterday. I know you’re friends with her; do you know anything about this person she went with?” Sullivan looked at him keenly. McCoy’s mouth opened slightly in surprise.
“This— that’s why you brought me here?” McCoy asked incredulously.
Sullivan looked sheepish. “Yes,” he said quietly.
“And if I told you I don’t know anything?”
“I’d go. We’d forget this and not tell Cora,” Sullivan answered.
McCoy frowned before taking a deep breath. What would he have done if Leah had begun dating a stranger? He couldn’t imagine finding one of her friends to interrogate, but he couldn’t say that he wouldn’t want to be sure about the person as well.
“Eugene is a good guy,” he said reassuringly. “You don’t have to worry about him. But that’s all I will say. If you really want to know you should ask Cora, not sneak around behind her back.”
“I know,” Sullivan sighed. “I don’t want her to think I’m trying to be over protective. I suppose I don’t want to scare anyone away from her either since I’m already an officer.”
“Trust your sister to make good decisions,” McCoy said firmly.
Sullivan nodded. “She does.” A chirp followed his words, and he glanced at his comm. A brief grimace crossed his face. “Thank you for your time and honesty.”
McCoy nodded. But before Sullivan could turn to go he spoke. He deserved at least one answer.
“How is the admiral today?”
Sullivan’s eyes closed with a deep sigh. “I suppose I owe you. He’s angry. This article today…” Sullivan shook his head. “It’s not good.”
“Aporal is our friend,” McCoy stated.
“He shouldn’t have gone to the press,” Sullivan said with wide eyes.
“He says he didn’t.”
“Great. An even more tangled web to sort out then.” Sullivan gave a sarcastic bark of laughter. McCoy smiled sympathetically. “I really have to go. Thank you again.”
“Yes sir,” McCoy said as he watched the officer hurry from the room. What a morning!
Part 120
Scotty
Scotty was just about to enter a lab to work on his project, when he heard a familiar voice coming from a close by room.
"You and I will have a talk right now, cadet. In my office."
Scotty felt a shiver run down his spine and his stomach tightened with worry. It was quite clear who Admiral Kinnear was talking to.
"Why don't we talk about it here and now, Admiral? I'm quite certain that everyone would like to know what you have to say," another familiar voice answered and Scotty shook his head the slightest bit. Even though he couldn't see Aporal, he could imagine the look on the boy's face.
"My office. Now!"
An infuriated looking Kinnear stepped out of the lab and when he saw Scotty in the hallway, his face darkened even more.
"S-sir," the Scotsman said with a nod of his head and the admiral's eyes narrowed. He appeared to be thinking about something.
"You will join us, Cadet Scott," Kinnear eventually said and Scotty froze in his place. Why? This was none of his business, now was it?
"There's no need for that, sir."
Aporal had stepped into the hallway too and was now glancing over at his friend.
"That is my decision to make," Kinnear hissed at him, then moved on. "Follow me!"
Scotty's heart sank even more as he was standing next to Aporal in Kinnear's office. The man was obviously still waiting for someone to join them since he hadn't started yet and it didn't take too long until the door was opened.
"Took you long enough, Sullivan!" Kinnear said with a glare and the lieutenant instantly lowered his head and muttered an apology before he closed the door and walked over to his superior.
He gave Scotty a sympathetic look, obviously seeing how uncomfortable the Scotsman was.
"Pardon me, sir, but what is Cadet Scott-McCoy doing here?" Sullivan turned his head to look at the man next to him.
"He's friends with Cadet Tallister. And he was the one who told security about Francis and his friends. Therefore, it is logical to assume that he also helped with this scandalous article!"
Scotty's eyes went wide and he opened his mouth to say something, however, Aporal beat him to it.
"We both know that what you're saying is utter nonsense. He's got nothing to do with it."
Kinnear's eyes moved from Scotty to Aporal and he glared at the Andorian.
"So you were the one who went to the press? After I specifically told you that I don't want the whole academy to know about it?"
Aporal stood tall as he shook his head.
"No, sir. I didn't tell the press anything."
"Then how is it that they have a record of our talk, huh? Why did you take it, if not to go to the press!"
"Well, sir, I always make records during important talks for my own protection. And I did send it to someone, yes. You see, I have a few friends on the Andorian government. People who helped me recover after everything that has happened to me. They keep an eye on me so of course I told them about what had happened. If one of them chose to talk to the press," Aporal shrugged his shoulders, "then that's not my fault."
Kinnear's mouth opened in surprise and he stared at Aporal for a long time. Apparently he hadn't done his homework. Or else he would have known that fact about Aporal.
"Feel free to search through my PADD and communicator, sir. You will find nothing. No link to the press."
Aporal glanced at Scotty.
"The same goes for Cadet Scott-McCoy. I'm quite certain that he didn't talk to reporters."
Kinnear seemed to think for a long moment, then looked at Sullivan.
"I want their stuff checked as soon as possible. We'll see if it is true. Until then," he turned back to the cadets, "you're free to leave."
Scotty suppressed the heavy sigh in his throat and instead only nodded.
He quickly left the room with Aporal. Once they were standing in the hallway, the Andorian squeezed Scotty's arm.
"I'm sorry, Scottish boy. You weren't meant to get dragged into this."
Scotty only nodded, at a loss for words.

So this is a bit of a possibly difficult question, since even Omori doesn’t even answer this question.
How do you think everyone will handle the truth about Mari in your AU? after Kel and Aubrey had been supporting each other, Hero and Kel finally comfort their fight, and then the whole Basil stabbing Sunny thing.
Okay so this took me a while lol, trying to search up opinions on the originals, sort of rewatching bits and pieces of the game lol, and then adding my au’s experiences, so uh here we go. I don’t know how detailed they will be but I’m gonna try my best lol
Aubrey:
I think Aubrey will just be frozen, she’ll need a minute to even process it, that sunny would do something like that, that basil would cover it up. That either of them could keep that lie for so long, and once it hits her, that this is real sunny just told me that, she storms out, she’s probably on the verge of a panic attack and she’s having trouble breathing and she just really needs to leave that room, like be away from them, like mari someone who she always saw as a sister she wished she had, hadn’t killed herself, her life had been taken by her own brother and someone she considered to be one her closest friends helped him frame it as a suicide. I think that eventually she could forgive sunny and basil, but it would take a very long time and it’d be really difficult for her. I think she sits down and she thinks about it for a very long time and she realizes that oh my god, I did that kel, I could’ve done that to basil, if hero hadn’t been there would basil have done that with me, would he cover it up like that. She’s angry at them and she understands what happened was an accident but it’s difficult for her to wrap her head around.
Aubrey asks kel if she should be forgiving them, if she’s holding onto it for too long and kel’s sort of quiet for a minute and kel says he doesn’t really know. Neither of them know if they should forgive them or not even though they really want to.
Kel:
kel is incredibly shaken about it, he feels like he’s gonna cry and the more he hears it’s just worse, he doesn’t know what to do, Aubrey storms out and he’s torn between going with her and talking more with sunny and basil. Kel can’t help thinking to himself, I can’t believe they spent four years dealing with this, four years of knowing that they were apart of the murder of mari and how hard that must’ve been for them, but then he thinks about the four years all of them have spent thinking mari had killed herself and grieving and accepting it and he doesn’t know how to feel. He really wants to forgive them, he doesn’t want the friend group to fall apart again, and he feels like he would be able to but he’s hesitant, and he’s worried about Aubrey and hero. he just sort of hugs sunny and basil and he looks at hero for a second before going with Aubrey.
Hero is the last one in the room and the only one to actually talk to them.
Hero:
Hero is again just as conflicted as the rest of them, he doesn’t know what to say to them, on top of the fact they’re at the hospital because Basil and sunny we’re fighting, he thinks about that first year where all he thought about was why mari would do something like that, was it his fault, did he do something wrong, why couldn’t he help her. Hero wishes he could just leave like Aubrey and kel did but, he’s the oldest and even if he can’t forgive them or things can’t go back to the way they were. He needs to say something to them, mari would want him to say something at the very least. It’s probably something like I don’t know if I can forgive you guys yet, or if I should, and I don’t hate you two but I need time to think about this before I can even begin to understand what happened. I’m sorry that you two had to go through this, but right now I need to leave, and he hugs them like kel did and he leaves the room too.
Then it’s just basil and sunny in the room, and I think that sunny gives basil a hug and they both start crying but in a sort of hey we don’t know what will exactly happen next, but this is a start, this weight of guilt is off our shoulders for this moment.
God I hope this was a good answer to that question.
This was both fun and not fun to answer sly, thanks for this lol, can’t wait to see what else you come up with.

sooo people (r*na’s) are starting to talk about this. Im getting a little worried, i mean there’s nothing to be worried about i know my pw will be engame but this still could mean something, right..:(
Meg Donnelly talked about HSMTMTS in a recent interview and she revealed that she had filmed a lot of scenes with Matt Cornett which means EJ and Val will have a friendship. "When we filmed High School Musical, most of our scenes were together so that was really cool. It was so easy and so comfortable and we actually got so much closer on the High School Musical set. It was really weird not seeing him in a blue wig, but nonetheless, it was great." (This part is from an anon but still addresses what you're asking about so I'm putting it t/g.)
Here's the article everyone's freaking out about LOL. I have quite a few asks in my inbox about this part Meg talks about, so I will try to answer them all today (some t/g to save time). First thing first, let's all take a nice, deep breath. Okay? Breathe in. Breathe out. Now, I don't think we need to worry all that much just yet. Didn't we all predict months ago there was a strong possibility EJ and Val could be childhood friends from camp? Maybe they’ve been attending Camp Shallow Lake since they were junior campers and have always been close friends. Does Meg’s quote here really surprise anyone? To me, it just (partly) confirms Val and EJ may share history/a friendship and they’ll use it as an opportunity to show EJ’s growth as a character from the last time he attended camp (when he food poisoned Emily so Nini would be the lead). Val was presumably there at camp when it happened. But EJ doesn’t operate the way he used to (during his selfish 1.0 days) and Val may very well call attention to that. If they are good friends, maybe Val will let the audience know that she sees a real change in him from last year. He’s not who he used to be. The EJ now is “a really good guy” (2.08) who tries to do the right thing (in the right ways this time!) Just b/c “most” of Meg’s and Matt’s scenes were t/g doesn’t inherently mean that’s the end of Portwell lmaooo. Meg also said a few weeks ago that she feels like ppl will “really like” her character, even tho Val will contribute to some drama this season. I don’t think she would make that claim if most of the audience was supposed to hate/dislike her. I’m not getting antagonistic vibes from Val given her character description, which implies she won’t be just another Lily. Tim also said the Wildcats would “come head-to-head and heart-to-heart with Shallow Lake campers Jet, Maddox, and Val," which very well could mean Gina misinterpreting EJ and Val’s relationship at first before she has an eventual heart-to-heart with her by season’s end. Please keep in mind this show spent 2 whole seasons building Gina and EJ up as individual characters first, then progressed their story t/g. It took them 2 seasons to even agree to go out on a date together. With S3′s timeline being only 2 weeks, I doubt Val will cause any lasting damage to Portwell. This is the first season that they’re dating and we, the audience, get to see EJ and Gina as boyfriend and girlfriend for the first time. It’s more likely Val will force EJ and Gina to confront any insecurities in their relationship during these 2 weeks than Val causing them to permanently break up. Plus, as far as we know, Meg will be guest starring only in S3. I don’t think we’ll see her character again for any future season(s) considering Val may be based in California, not Utah. I get the feeling once the trailer is released, Val’s part in the trailer may be deceptive in that it’ll look like she’ll cause bad drama for Portwell, but it could actually be the good kind of drama that will help strengthen them in the long run. TLDR: don’t stress over Meg and Matt sharing “most” scenes together in S3. I know Portwell have a tough season ahead of them, but who says they won’t continue on this journey together? Val might just help EJ realize just how much he cares about Gina and how different his relationship with her is from his previous relationships. We just won’t know until S3 starts airing.

Face to Face
Chapter 2: True Affection
Fandom: Hades
Pairing: Thanatos/Zagreus
Rating: Mature
Chapter(s): 2/4
Words: 1088
AO3
Summary:
Thanatos can’t remember the last time he went on a date that wasn’t with his email inbox, so Charon sets about rectifying the situation by making him a profile on a dating app. Sifting through guys who fish and tourists looking for one night stands, Thanatos comes across his childhood best friend, who he hasn’t spoken to since their strange parting as teenagers. Thanzag modern AU, online dating.
Thanatos had looked good. Taller, maybe, than when Zag had known him. His wardrobe had graduated from worn black hoodies to sharp business wear, tailored slacks and fitted blazers in various shades of black and grey. He’d cut his hair, too, trading the long, shiny silver locks that Zag had loved to braid for short sides and a middle part that makes him look like a boyband member, but in a good way.
“Another round, lad?”
Achilles sliding into the seat next to him, pint in hand, jolts him out of his thoughts.
“Still working on mine, thanks, though,” Zagreus says mildly. Across the table, Dusa is chattering with, or more like at, Tisiphone, while Theseus has the seat of honour, talking with Athena seriously and occasionally shooting Zagreus dirty looks. Eurydice and Orpheus are inside signing up for karaoke, as always. He’s sure he’ll hear their joint performance of Don’t Go Breaking My Heart floating through the open doors to the terrace later.
Achilles clears his throat.
“Something’s bothering you. Worry not, Theseus will get over it… eventually.”
Zagreus frowns and sips at his drink. “You’d think he’d feel better knowing neither of us got the scholarship. Just because my score was a little bit higher—”
“You’ve denied him a chance to gloat, that’s all.” Achilles cracks a grin. “I won’t lie, I’m glad those days are behind me.”
“Yes, with days ahead that are just bad in a different way.”
To that, Achilles lifts his glass, clinking it gently with Zag’s own.
“Now, that’s glum, especially coming from you.”
“It’s not that, I just—”
Before he can finish his thought, Athena rises and gestures magnanimously at the table.
“The hour is late, and lest my presence keep you from enjoying yourselves, I shall depart. When the cat’s away, and all that.”
They all wave, and she stalks off. Zag has no doubt that she’ll still be sending them all emails when she gets home, or even on the bus ride. Theseus looks even more displeased than usual and starts berating Tisiphone and Dusa about a manuscript they’ve been working on.
“The lad needs to learn to take a break,” Achilles whispers to Zagreus, and his phone vibrates again.
This time, he can’t help but extract it from his shorts and look at the screen. 2 new messages! Someone’s popular, the notification reads.
Zagreus’ heartbeat stutters.
“I’ll be right back,” he says, and hesitates before downing the rest of his drink. “If the server comes around, would you mind getting me another one of these?”
Achilles nods wordlessly as Zag walks off the patio and into the bar, in search of the bathroom.
“Get it together, Zagreus,” he tells himself under his breath, and pushes his way into the small but thankfully empty bathroom.
Chugging the last drink had been ill-advised. Doing what he’s doing now continues to be ill-advised. A warm, fuzzy sensation is starting to make its way into the muscles of his legs, and it’s a nice enough bar that there’s an armchair in the bathroom, so he sits down there, thumb hovering over the message.
It could be that guy I was messaging earlier, doesn’t even have to be—
It’s Thanatos.

Peter is walking through the hallway not paying attention, his mind is focused more on getting out of school and back home. Ev had gone home earlier today because she developed a migraine after History class because of her black eye and what happened last night. Peter just wanted to get home and check up on her before going out on patrol tonight.
Just then Peter heard someone calling his name causing him to turn around and spot Gwen rushing over to him with a quick grin on her face. He lowered his hoodie and pulled out the headphone that he had placed in when he left his locker.
“Hey!” Gwen said eagerly and Peter smiled at her.
“Hey, what’s up?” He asked as the two of them stopped in the middle of the hallway.
“So my Mom and Dad are trying to be more involved in their kids’ lives and wanted me to invite some friends for dinner tonight. I was going to ask Evalyn but I haven’t seen her since lunch. And I wanted to invite both of  you. Do you like Branzino?” She rambled quickly and Peter tilted his head to the side trying to keep up with her words. He smiled softly at her and she scoffed softly and rolled her eyes at him teasing her. “Branzino, it’s a fish.” She offered and Peter grinned knowing that she couldn’t keep the words to herself with her need to make other people understand.
“Yeah, I know what it is.” He said softly as he began nodding his head. “Ev went home early, she wasn’t feeling well, had a migraine.” He offered up easily and Gwen frowned softly before nodding her head at his words. “I think it’d be great to come to dinner. I’ll ask Ev if she’s up for it and bring her along.”
“Great! Great.” Gwen said quickly as she began to write something on a piece of paper before handing it to him quickly. “That’s my address, my mom is making Branzino at 8 o’clock if you guys want to come. It’s apartment 2016, I don’t think I put that down.” She said suddenly and Peter grinned as he nodded his head.
“Don’t worry I’ll remember and Ev’s been there before she’ll know which apartment.” He reassured Gwen who nodded her head as a grin spread across her face.
“Right, right. Okay, see you guys there. Don’t forget, 8 o’clock.” She rambled off again and Peter grinned at her while nodding his head. Gwen then whirled on her heel and began walking away before looking over her shoulder at him making him chuckle at her antics. She was such an odd conundrum, a popular, smart, and friendly girl who liked to be right about everything she knew and always wanting to be friends and make sure everyone was taken care of. He was glad that she was friends with Ev and had become his friend, she was someone that he knew he could count on in his corner. He felt slightly guilty about not telling her about him being Spiderman but it hadn’t really come up in conversation or had been an issue that he needed to face yet. He wondered idly how she would take it when he eventually did tell her.
Shaking his head Peter turned and began walking out of the school with the piece of paper clutched in his hand. He needed to get home to Ev and find out if she was up for going to dinner at Gwen’s house.
*-*-*-*
Only a half hour later Peter was climbing up to Ev’s bedroom window before settling in front of it to knock on the glass. He watched as her bedroom door swung open and he saw she was dressed in her “fancy” black jeans and a nice multicolored blouse that flowed around her body. It looked like she had taken a shower and was getting ready for something that was going on tonight. Peter frowned as he tapped at her window again wondering if Gwen had gotten ahold of her and already asked her to come to dinner, she looked over at him before rushing over to the window and raising it so he could climb through.
“Hey.” She greeted him as she moved back over to her desk and grabbed the concealer. “Perfect timing, would you help me with the concealer again?” She asked hopefully as she turned to him and his eyes danced around her face noting the bruising around her black eye. He stepped over to her after dropping his backpack under the window.
“All dressed up for Gwen’s dinner? I didn’t think it was that fancy, I’ll have to break out my good pair of jeans.” He said teasingly as he took the concealer from her hands as she tilted her head at him as her eyebrow furrowed softly in confusion.
“Gwen’s dinner? What are you talking about?” She asked curiously and Peter looked at her befuddled for a moment. He tried to figure out if she was teasing him or not but she honestly looked confused as she stared at him.
“Gwen invited us to dinner tonight at her apartment. I told her I’d go and extend the invite to you. Where are you going tonight?” He explained and questioned gently. He wasn’t sure if he was comfortable with her going out on her own especially after the attack last night.
“Oh, Gwen invited you to dinner. That’s nice.” Ev said softly as if she was shocked but not surprised. Peter furrowed his brows at her, feeling the shift in her mood before he caught her chin with his index finger tilting her face up to look at him. He waited for her to tell him her plans for the night as he gazed into her eyes, he didn’t like that she kept darting her eyes away from his as if she was trying to hide something. “My Dad wants to take me to dinner and I’m supposed to meet him in Staten Island tonight. He’s sending a car to come pick me up in an hour. I sent you a text before hopping in the shower.” She explained softly and Peter internally cursed his silent cellphone.
“Oh, that’s great. I think my phone’s on vibrate that might be why I didn’t get it.” He said while nodding his head. He still stood there with his index finger under her chin as they both stared at each other. She smiled softly and Peter watched as her eyes softened and held a somberness to them.
“Hey it’s okay. Dinner with Gwen and her family is always fun. Her brothers are a blast, a little wild when they all get together but they’re good kids.” Ev said fondly as she smiled up at Peter before she stepped back disconnecting from him. Peter suddenly felt lost and unsure as he was going to have to go to this dinner alone without Ev. He nodded his head silently and Ev twisted her lips in acknowledgement as she shook her head at him. “Uh-uh. Do not get wrapped up in that head of yours Parker.” She stated confidently and he looked at her still feeling lost.
“It’s dinner with Gwen’s family though Ev.” He lamented and Ev shook her head.
“You’re friends with Gwen, Peter. This isn’t anything besides friends having dinner together.” She reassured him gently. And while he knew she was right there was still the pressure of having dinner with her parents. He could feel the pressure starting to build within him and he shook his head quickly.
“With her family.” He reiterated and Ev chuckled at him.
“It’s cute when you get all flustered.” She teased him gently and Peter jerked back to stare at her surprised. He could feel a warmth blossom in the pit of his stomach at the notion of her calling him cute but he shook his head. “C’mon Pete, it doesn’t need to mean anything if you don’t want it to.” She told him and he furrowed his eyebrows at her, he could feel that she was trying to tell him something and he wasn’t understanding it.
“Mean anything? What do you mean by that?” He asked anxiously and Ev held her hands up as she shook her head.
“Nothing, I’m just trying to tell you it’s just dinner. Gwen’s parents are probably trying to get to know her friends because she rambles about all of us. They know me so they’ve probably now heard about you and want to get to know you too. All you have to do is be yourself and they’ll be instantly charmed.” Ev said easily as she shrugged her shoulders at him before turning away from him and moving towards her mirror to survey her black eye. Peter could feel the air grow tense and he frowned trying to figure out what was going on between the two of them. He could feel the hint of sad resignation coming off of her and he didn’t understand or like it one bit.
Suddenly he flicked his wrist out catching her with his web before yanking her back to him into his chest. He gently held her hips in his hands as her hands had come to rest against his chest while their bodies were now flush with each other. She gasps for air as she stares at him with wide eyes and flushed cheeks at his movements.
“Why do I feel like there’s something you know that I don’t?” he asks softly as he stares down into her shocked eyes. “Why do you seem so sad that I’m going to dinner with Gwen and her family?” he asks and Ev blinks before shaking her head and she twists her lips into a pout.
“First of all don’t you ever use your webs on me again like that.” she snips at him and he grins at her wickedly for a moment while leaning into her.
“What’s the matter didn’t like that?” he asked teasingly and she furrowed her eyebrows at him for a moment before shaking her head.
“Those were my invention-.” she retorts haughtily and Peter chuckles before he interrupts her.
“Actually I made them not you.” he reminds her and she scowls up at him.
“Well I perfected them.” she responds with a flick of her head and he grins widely at her antics. “You can’t use the product against the creator, that's like blasphemy or something.” she insisted and Peter chuckled at her reasoning.
“Fine, I’m sorry I used my webs on you. But I feel like there’s something more that you’re not sharing with me and you seem sad about this whole thing. I don’t understand.” he replied with urgency. He watched as Ev looked up at him for a quiet moment before shaking her head, her hand came up to cup his cheek and she smiled softly albeit a little sadly.
“It’s nothing Pete. I hope you have a nice time at dinner and don’t get too worked up about it. Gwen’s family is really cool, her Dad’s a captain in the NYPD so just try to be on your best behavior.” she said softly with a teasing lilt to her voice. Peter silently surveyed her knowing that she wasn’t telling him the whole truth but he knew that if he tried to push her to tell him she’d just clam up on him.
“Alright fine, but I’m pretty sure you’ve gotta check your pants.” He teased her softly causing her to furrow her brows at him in confusion as she moved her head back to look him fully.
“What? Why would I need to check my pants?” She asked confused and Peter smirked down at her.
“I think they’re on fire.” He teased her and he watched delighted as her eyes shifted with recognition before widening slightly as she twisted her mouth in a pout. “But I’m not gonna push. I know you’ll eventually tell me what’s goin’ on in that brain of yours.” He promised and Ev looked at him with a quiet look. He knew something was holding her back from telling him he just wasn’t sure what it was that was stopping her.
He then placed his hands on her shoulders and guided her over to her desk. Gently pushing her down into her chair he twirled it so that she faced him and he opened the concealer.
“Now c’mon Ev let me cover up that black eye so your Dad doesn’t see it.” He said softly and she looked up at him with relief showing over her face.
“Thanks Pete.” She said softly and let him begin to cover her face with the concealer effectively covering her black eye.

Chapter Two: Fall Breeze
You were stood at the end of your driveway waiting for Robin and her friend, Steve, to come pick you up. Robin had called you last night to make sure the number was right and to definitely make sure where to pick you up from.
"...so we make a left here after the gas station, and then drive straight for half a mile?" she asked.
"Yeah, for the third time, Robin," you laughed. "I'll be stood at the end of the drive waiting, saves you stressing about going too far,"
"What about if we're early and drive past when you're not there?"
You couldn't help but laugh again at her worries. "Look, you'll be fine. If I miss you guys and you're not here by 8:30, then I'll just walk. I walked home today, I should be a-okay walking to school if needs be,"
"Okay, okay, sorry," you heard Robin take a deep breath. "So what did you think of your first day? Any stresses? Any questions?"
You were hesitant to tell Robin about the Hellfire guy incident on your way home, so you thought that it may be best to try and talk about it face-to-face. "Nah, I'm all good. If I think of anything, I'll bring it up tomorrow."
You were wrapped up in a long, black, fleeced coat, and a red tartan scarf to help keep the fall breeze at bay. Rucksack sitting on the gravel next to your feet, Walkman on, feet tapping along to the beat of This Corrosion by The Sisters of Mercy - a new track added to the mixtape. You had put one of the earphones to the side to keep an ear out for Robin and Steve, worried that you might miss them and not the other way around. All of a sudden, you could hear a car coming from down the road. Squinting to see the vehicle approaching from the distance, it looked burgundy in colour and quite a nice model too. It eventually pulled up a couple of feet away from you, and as you seemed slightly hesitant to approach, you then saw Robin stick her head out of the passenger window.
"Hey! C'mon, let's gooo!" she waved and smiled. You ducked your head into your scarf hiding a smile at how silly she was, picked up your rucksack, and headed towards the car. Your assumption of it being a nice car was reaffirmed when you got closer and sat in the back. A BMW, snazzy. You pulled off your headphones and stopped your tape, tucking it all into the deep pocket of your coat. "Steve, this is our new friend," Robin introduced you. He turned around in the drivers seat and gave you a little head nod, hair bouncing a bit as he did so. "We're in, like, all the same classes together so we're gonna be best buddies, aren't we?" She smiled at you through the rear view mirror.
"Best buddies, huh? I've already been demoted, I see..." Steve teased. "I'm guessing you won't be needing a carpool to and from Hawkins High now. I get it. No need to let me down lightly, think I've got the hint--" Robin punched his arm. "--OW! Hey! C'mon, you know I was teasing,"
You laughed at their playful nature all along the journey to school. They seemed like really good friends, and couldn't help but smile at their inside jokes that you didn't even know. It was just nice to be around. The three of you arrived at the school parking lot shortly after, and you and Robin began to gather your things.
"Okay, kids, I'll be here ready and waiting to pick you up at 4pm sharp! Don't forget to eat all your packed lunch or I'm gonna be disappointed again," Steve seemed to be the joker but you really didn't mind at all. As you went to leave the car, he turned around in his seat to face you. "Hey, I know we've literally only just met but I hope you like it here. You've got a good friend in Robin, she'll look after you,"
"Thanks, Steve. I really appreciate it," you slightly blushed at him being so caring. The guy hardly knew you. You'd only been in the car for 10 minutes. You hopped out the back and adjusted all your belongings. You and Robin waved Steve off as he drove away to his day job at Family Video, and then decided to walk to your lockers inside the school. At least it would be warmer than outside. The Indiana fall breeze had a certain chill to it that was hard to shake off.
The hallway was just as busy as it was yesterday, people congregating by certain lockers, the cliques began forming yet again for their morning catch up. Thankfully, you'd been assigned a locker a couple of spaces down from Robin so you didn't have to worry about any unwanted interactions, especially from the Jocks. You side-eyed them teasing this young kid for no reason other than to make themselves laugh and to make the kid feel smaller than he already was. It made you feel uneasy and reminded you of being in the same shoes as that kid at your old high school, thankful that eyes weren't on you for once. Robin could see you tense.
"Are you alright?" she had stopped organising her books in her locker.
"Yeah, it's just seeing that kid being teased... Reminds me of my old school, that's all," you shuffled your feet a bit, focusing on grabbing your textbooks and throwing them into your bag.
"Is that why you moved?" you paused when she asked. "Oh shit, I'm sorry. If it's a touchy subject, it's fine. I'll leave it. Don't have to tell me until you're ready, Scout's Honour!" You could tell Robin was apologetic for touching a nerve, trying to make things better with some lighthearted humour.
"It's okay, you didn't know about it. Maybe I'll tell you another time, somewhere not so busy," you flashed her a small smile. She gave you a comforting one in return. The bell rang, so you closed your lockers up and headed towards your first class of the day.
The morning absolutely dragged its heels as the subjects being covered in the classes were something you'd already brushed upon in your old high school. You made some brief notes, but mainly doodled something to whip up into a proper art piece at home. You looked over towards Robin at one point and noticed she was curling her hair around her finger, idly staring at the back of a girl's head - presumably the girl she was staring at yesterday. Finally, the bell for lunch rang, everyone snapped out of their daze, and the class couldn't escape the room fast enough. Clearly they've been suffering as much as you.
Lunch was much of the same as yesterday, all that changed was the cafeteria food and apple juice instead of OJ. Robin was still staring the girl from band, who was the person she was staring at in class too.
"Poor girl's gonna have two holes in the side of her head if you keep staring," you leaned over to Robin's ear, speaking in hushed tones. She snapped out of it, blushing as she turned to face you. Even though it was obvious to you that Robin had a crush on her, you could tell she was embarrassed about being caught out. "Don't worry, I won't say anything. I know it's a difficult conversation to openly discuss," She looked at you, tilting her head to the side, narrowing her eyes briefly and then opening them a bit wider in realisation. She went to point at you as if to say 'you too?'. You turned your hand in a so-so motion but mouthed the word 'bi', and Robin nodded in response. 'Huh, I don't think I've ever openly come out to anyone before... That's a first,' you thought.
Shrugging it off, you both then dipped in and out of conversation with the people on your table. You drifted away subconsciously and began gazing around the cafeteria again, just like yesterday. The Goths reapplying their purple and black lipstick after tucking into the school's mac and cheese, the Math Nerds trying to hide in their corner using their textbooks as shields, and the Jocks using whatever they could get their hands on to try catapult towards the said Math Nerds. And yet again, your eyes fall upon the Hellfire Club table. All of them sat in their designated places, and the curly haired metalhead leader sat at the head of the table. Robin had said yesterday to you that they played Dungeons and Dragons, and you wouldn't be surprised if this was the same formation they sat in for their campaigns. The metalhead seemed to be telling the premise of the next session which he was planning, hands flailing in the air, standing on his chair at one point with one foot on the table. The others seem captivated, and honestly, so were you (even if you couldn't make out a single word he was saying). Snapping you out of your concentration, the bell cut things off and all the bodies scuttled out the cafeteria into the next classes. 'I wonder if I'll bump into him again,' you thought to yourself.
The last couple of hours dragged by just as slow as this morning, with you and Robin sharing a knowing look of 'kill me now'. The final buzz of the day rang, with kids ignoring the teacher's plea into making sure they do their homework as there will definitely be a pop quiz about what they've studied today. Their voice sounded just as tired as you all felt. You gave a nod to the teacher, acknowledging their speech. It's the least you could do.
"So obviously Steve is gonna be waiting for us outside, but he's gotta get back to his shift at Family Video. And I'm gonna be working with him too. You wanna come hang out at the shop? He'll be able to drop you off when we're done. If not, we can always drop you off at home first," Robin asked you. You hadn't really seen much of Hawkins since you moved here a couple of weeks ago. "I can give you some free popcorn..." she said in a sing-song voice, trying to tempt you. You laughed at her persuasion skills.
"Ha, okay, you had me at popcorn. Better be sweet 'n' salty, or I'm not coming," you said half-seriously. Sweet 'n' salty was your favourite, it better be a part of the deal.
"Deal," Robin fist bumped you as you walked out the front doors of Hawkins High. Steve honked his horn as you both approached the burgundy car. Robin sat in the front again, so you threw your rucksack in first on the backseat and sat in the original place you were in this morning.
"We dropping you off home?" Steve asked, as he turned around to see whilst reversing.
"Nah, I'm tagging along for the shift," you replied. "Besides, there's some free popcorn in it for me,"
Steve gave a stern look to Robin. "What have I said about giving away popcorn? We need to sell the snacks! You know Keith doesn't like me and will use this as an excuse to fire me,"
She shrugged at him. "Whatever, she can have my allocated share for the day," Robin gave you a wink and you inwardly laughed. Steve rolled his eyes and got the three of you on the road, Robin took off her coat and slipped on her Family Video vest over her blouse, and you sat and stared out the window. 'I could get used to this...'
Not too long after leaving the school, the three of you pulled up into the forecourt where Family Video was situated alongside a small arcade and a couple of other shops. It was busy in the parking lot, filled with kids of all ages, but they seemed to be hanging out closer to the arcade so it wasn't too much of a hassle getting into the shop. When you walked in, the sound of Raiders of the Lost Ark played faintly in the background. Keith swapped with Robin and Steve so the pair could start their shift together. His drawl voice was obviously ticking Steve off, so Robin buttered Keith up to ensure that all the tasks he had now delegated onto them would be done. As he walked out the door, you heard Steve mutter 'schmuck' under his breath and you stifled a laugh.
"Popcorn now, or popcorn later?" Robin shook the empty bag towards you.
"Now's good, thanks," you replied. She filled up the bag, nearly overflowing, and passed it to you. Your eyes bulged at the amount. "You sure this is just your share?"
"Mine and half of Steve's," she tried to whisper.
"Hey!" he yelled.
"Oops," you both laughed. "Take a stroll, pick a video of your fancy. We can watch anything we want--"
"Within reason," Steve chimed in.
"--within reason," she repeated after Steve. "That's only 'cause we got watching Alien first thing one Saturday morning and traumatised the young kids picking up Mary Poppins,"
"Yeah, someone nearly lost their job for someone else's explicit VHS choice, didn't they?" Steve gave a stern look at Robin, but she refused to turn around and face him.
"I'm never gonna live it down. But I still don't regret it," you both laughed as Steve leaned his hip against the counter.
You began walking up and down the aisles filled with different tapes. You weren't particularly sure what to pick. Disney? Another Indiana Jones? All you knew was that any thriller, horror, or B-Movie special was off the cards. You stopped in front of the 'New Releases' display and picked up one of the tapes. It had 5 kids posing on the cover all looking a little moody. "Five teenage students... Saturday detention together... Bared their souls... Yeah, that'll do," you read the synopsis a bit to yourself before taking it to the counter and handing it to Steve. He nodded in appreciation for your choice and waited for the Indiana Jones flick to finish.
It was fairly quiet in the shop to be honest, so you weren't really sure as to why Robin and Steve both had to work - easily could be manned by one of them at least - but you were glad they were both working so it got making to know them both and their friendship together a lot more fun. There were plenty of little digs at each other and inside jokes were explained a bit, and you got to find out a bit about the rest of their friendship group. They didn't go into much detail but had said something pretty serious happened so a couple of their friends, El and Will, had to move away to California, and you could see that it was still pretty fresh so it still hurt. But they explained some of the recent gossip within the group; Max and Lucas had just split up - and Max was suffering really bad with the death of her brother so she'd been pretty distant, Lucas was in the basketball team but was also playing D&D with Hellfire, Mike played D&D in Hellfire was seriously missing his girlfriend and best friend, and Dustin was really enjoying being in a new D&D group as he'd missed it a lot since shit happened with Will - which was one hell of a story, but not even the full tale according to Robin (she said they'd probably tell the tale another time in the future). They both said that they all occasionally pop by to rent a movie together and hang out, but they'd all sort of found their groups in high school so didn't really see each other much apart from maybe weekends.
After learning all this new stuff about the friendship group, you realised you hadn't called home to say where you were. You excused yourself for a moment and went outside to use a payphone. Outside the arcade, you saw who you thought were Dustin, Mike, and Lucas based off the descriptions Robin and Steve had told you. Dustin and Mike seemed a bit pissed off that Lucas was bailing, and they watched him hop into a Jock's car. They both then walked into Family Video so you were pretty sure you'd be getting a full introduction shortly. You slotted in a couple of coins into the payphone and dialled home. The air had even more of a chill than before, so you pulled your coat tighter.
"Hey, mom," you said quietly. "Yeah I'm sorry I didn't call, my friends Robin and Steve gave me a lift to the video store... Uh-huh, the ones who picked me up for school this morning... No, it's okay, they're dropping me home when they've finished their shift... Okay, yeah I won't be late. Love you," and you hung up the phone. Surprisingly, there was no berating down the phone for once. In your old town, if you were calling up saying you were going to be home late, you didn't hear the end of it and would be grounded for two weeks at the least. It felt suspicious, but you might as well enjoy the peace whilst you can. You walked back into the store and the two boys you'd spotted just a moment ago were chatting animatedly with Steve and Robin.
"I just can't believe he's ditching us to play some stupid basketball! He's a nerd at heart, he should be at Hellfire with us," Dustin frowned, crossing his arms in a huff against the counter top.
"Uh-huh, and I can't believe you're ditching hanging out with me to play D&D with 'The Freak'," Steve sulked at him. Dustin hit his arm. "OW! Hey, what is with everyone doing that to me today?"
"He's not a freak," Dustin said defiantly. "Anyway, you're just jealous that I've got other friends than you,"
"No I'm not," Steve crossed his arms in front of his chest. "You just don't make time for me any more,"
"You are jealous! Is it because there's another guy older than me taking me under his wing and you don't like it?"
It hit a nerve with Steve and you could tell, hell all of you could, but he tried to play it off nonchalantly. "Look, you can hang out with anyone you like, but I was here first okay so that makes me the best,"
Dustin rolled his eyes and laughed, pushing at Steve across the counter.
Mike didn't really say too much, he just seemed to be in his own world. But he turned to face you, and gave you a puzzled look. "Hey, erm, you're new here, right?"
"Yeah, I've been in Hawkins a couple of weeks. Only just joined the high school this week," you replied. You introduced yourself and the two boys introduced themselves back, explaining what grade they were in, and that they were going to Hellfire tonight for the much anticipated campaign session. Mike then looked at his watch.
"Oh shit, Dustin, we're gonna be late! I didn't think it was so late, Eddie is gonna be mad at us,"
"Shit, shit, shit, okay, erm Steve? Can I get some Milk Duds?" Dustin rushed.
"Are you gonna pay for them this time?" his arms were still crossed. Man, he was pissed.
Dustin exhaled in frustration through his nostrils. He threw a dollar bill on the counter. Steve threw the Milk Duds directly at Dustin, causing him to fumble trying to catch them. Dustin frowned at his friend, and nudged Mike as if to say they were ready to go.
"Heh, Milk Duds are for Eddie. Hopefully it'll appease him for being late," Mike shyly explained to you whilst taking the chocolate candy from Dustin, giving them a slight shake.
"Yep, but he's still gonna be pissed when he realises Lucas is gonna be late turning up too, if he turns up at all," Dustin replied. "C'mon, let's go before he goes all Behemoth on us," the pair waved goodbye and left sharpish.
Steve ended up leaving the counter to sort some of the tapes out as some kids had been in trying to mess up the displays and spilling popcorn all over the floor. You turn to face Robin as you seemed to have a quiet moment to yourselves.
"So, who's this Eddie guy that they were talking about? Is he the head of the Hellfire group they're in?" you queried.
"Yeah, they more or less joined the group within the first week of the semester. Dustin, Mike, and Lucas were all sat together on this table in the cafeteria, and obviously they stuck out like a sore thumb. Being the charismatic character he is, he saw their fresh new faces and could tell instantly they'd be up for some D&D. Quite lucky really, they played it with their friend, Will, before he had to move," Robin explained. You nodded, finally finding out the metalhead's name who you'd accidentally bumped into yesterday and who you couldn't stop staring at. Maybe now was a good time to bring it up?
"I used to play D&D too, y'know," you casually slipped into conversation.
"Aw nice, why didn't you say something? Looks like they could've used an extra player tonight if their conversation was anything to go by,"
"Well I don't really know them, and I don't have any characters ready--"
"I'm just joshing," she playfully nudged you. "I know you wouldn't have gone anyway. Maybe another time though, get a character prepared... Just in case," she winked. It was your turn to nudge her playfully this time and you both laughed.
"I, erm, I bumped into Eddie on my walk home yesterday actually," you said. You weirdly felt shy about it, but with Steve calling him 'The Freak' and hearing others in the background say it too, it was only natural to be a bit cautious about bringing him up.
"Oh yeah? What happened?"
"Well, nothing really. I was walking back and I got near the trailer park, then this big gust of wind just blew on by. Got a face full of my own hair, couldn't see shit, ended up bumping into the guy. I thought he was gonna give me a load of shit for walking into him, but turns out he's actually quite nice," you explained.
"Steve gives Dustin a hard time about Eddie, but I've heard nothing but good things about him really. Mind you, the good things are from Dustin so maybe he's biased. But Steve has a good reason for being so harsh," Robin went on to say. She leaned forward towards you on the counter, speaking lowly so that if anyone passed by they couldn't hear what she was about to tell you. "The lowdown: Eddie's parents aren't in the picture, don't know why, but he lives with his uncle at the trailer park. He gets a bad rep 'cause he gives off stereotypical 'bad guy' vibes. He listens to metal, he's retaking his final year again, doesn't dress like everyone else, smoking pot, and well, he's also known around school for selling drugs too,"
"Oh," it took you aback slightly. "I see. I'm guessing it's mainly the dealing part that Steve is bothered about,"
Robin nodded in reply. "Personally, never had a problem with the guy. He comes in sometimes, borrows a movie, drags the kids out when they're running late, and he's always pleasant with us. I guess Dustin is right with what he's saying though, maybe Steve is a bit jealous that there's another older guy with influence in his life,"
"Maybe Steve is worried they'll end up selling or doing drugs like him," you replied. "I mean, I've only just met the kids but from what you've both told me today, they seem to have pretty sharp heads on their shoulders. They'll know to steer clear of that. They just wanna play D&D. Anyway, there's nothing wrong with a spliff every so often,"
"Right? And Steve's no person to judge for that," Robin blurted out. You raised a brow at her and mimed smoking a joint and subtly pointing at Steve, who was still sweeping up the popcorn kernels. "Shit... Yeah, Steve used to be a bit of a 'bad boy' in Hawkins High. He was the good looking popular guy. Nancy, Mike's older sister, told me that when they were dating he was smoking it at a small house party he was hosting,"
"Huh, no shit," you laughed. "Not as innocent as he seems to play then," you were a little hesitant to say what you were thinking, but if you didn't say this now, then it would eat you up. "I think he might have flirted with me?"
Robin was mid-sip of her water and nearly spat it out. "Who, Steve?!"
"No! No, no, Eddie,"
"Oh... OH. Wait, there's no might about it. He either did or he didn't,"
"Well, when I bumped into him I was really apologetic 'cause I'm clumsy, then he mentioned he'd seen me looking at him during lunch, said I should maybe introduce myself if I was gonna keep staring, called me 'sweetheart', and then walked off home,"
Robin smiled at you, resting her head on her hands. "Oh, that's a definite," you blushed at her response, trying to hide the crimson under your scarf and hoping the red would merge well with your face. "Told you he was charismatic,"
'Huh, and good looking to boot-- Oh, for God's sake...' You could feel the warmth of your cheeks getting hotter. Your thoughts were definitely not helping. "I'm just gonna go outside, I think I need a bit of air," you pointed both your hands towards the door awkwardly. Robin laughed at how shy you'd become all of a sudden, and just waved her hand at you to go outside.
The air hit you like an ice cold brick wall. If your face wasn't red from the embarrassment before, at least you could blame that damn fall breeze. You took in a couple of deep breaths, straightened yourself out, and walked back into the store. Steve had finally put on The Breakfast Club tape you'd handed him a couple hours previous. He'd managed to slip on The Goonies before your choice.
"It's his favourite," Robin said. "We have to watch it at least once a week when we're working together, don't we Steve?"
"Shut up, Robin," he called back at her. "It's at least once a fortnight..."
The store has gotten incredibly quiet just before The Breakfast Club on, it was mid-week and getting towards 8pm. There was only a couple of drifters that came in for a browse and then leave.
'Does Barry Manilow know you raid his wardrobe?' Bender gave a dig at Vice Principle Vernon. The three of you chuckled.
"Hey, you know what? You look a bit like you've raided a bit of Bender and Allison's wardrobe today," Robin pipes up, looking at you. Long black coat like Allison, red tartan scarf like Bender's shirt... Damn, she's right. You could help but shrug and laugh.
"At least you won't forget about me," you shot finger guns at her, only to receive a groan at the joke from the pair. This made you laugh harder knowing that they enjoyed the joke but sure as hell won't admit it.
The movie came to an end and Robin was running around doing the last bits of tidying before they closed. Steve started rewinding the movie. The door sprang open which made all of you jump and shoot your heads up to see who'd walked it. Dustin and Mike were back with Lucas, so it looked like he eventually turned up to join the game. They were all laughing about what had happened as they were explaining it to Steve, who just seemed to nod his head along to their tales. You sat there at the counter overhearing their trials and tribulations when the door opened again, albeit not as harshly as before. You turned to see who had come in and there he was. Eddie strolled on in to come and grab the boys.
"C'mon, guys, time to go," he squeezed Dustin's shoulders. Steve tried to hide his grimace but it didn't really work, making Eddie smirk a little. "Harrington can hear your heroic tales another day," The boys wrapped up their conversation and said bye to you all, then headed to Eddie's van outside. He held the door open for them, and just as he was exiting the store himself, Eddie swung on the door as it was closing and gave you a cheeky little wink. "See ya, sweetheart."
'Jesus fucking Christ almighty...' your stomach was suddenly home to a thousand butterflies, flitting about the place. All you could muster up was a small wave goodbye, cheeks tinted pink. The door closed behind them all and all you could hear was Eddie's van rumbling into the distance. Robin came up behind you with the dustpan and brush, placing a hand on your shoulder.
"Wow. Definitely flirting," she patted your shoulder and went to put everything away. You looked over at Steve and he was the one to have a little smirk on his lips this time. You hid your face in your hands. 'Get me home!' you shouted in your head.
The three of you hopped into Steve's BMW and began the journey home. You could tell Steve was itching to say something about Eddie's comment as he kept glancing at you in the rear view mirror. You were nervous thinking about the fact of his name being brought up, but nothing had even happened to constitute any nerves. All Eddie did was be a little flirtatious with you after bumping into him, nothing to get all worked up about.
"So... Eddie," Steve finally piped up. You scooted in your seat a little at his name. Robin's head snapped around to look at Steve as if to ask if he was really serious about bringing it up. "What was all that about?"
"I-- I don't know," you tucked a strand of hair behind your ear. "All I did was bump into him on my walk home yesterday,"
"Yeah, and not keep your eyes off him all lunch yesterday and today," Robin teased.
"Hey!" you raised your voice. "You've got no room to talk," Robin tried hiding her face by looking out the passenger window, but she knew Steve was giving her a glare.
"I'm only teasing," Steve ended up breaking the tension. "Look, he's not exactly the best influence in regards to his, ahem, career, but I do know he can be a pretty nice guy,"
"I can't actually believe what I'm hearing," Robin had turned back around to face Steve. "You give Dustin all this shit about hanging around with 'The Freak' and you're singing his praises now? Maybe I'll ring Dustin when I get home--"
"Alright, alright, yeah I do give him a hard time about it, sure. But I do it 'cause it's funny to wind him up,"
"Pfft, yeah right. Definitely jealous that he's hanging out with another guy older than him,"
"Whatever, anyway!" Steve had pulled over just by your house now. He turned around to face you. "As much shit as I give Dustin about Eddie, he's right in what he tells me about the guy. He makes sure to drop them off home after D&D, keeps them out of trouble away from the Jocks, would easily take a punch for them too... He seems alright, you should actually speak to him." he turns to look at Robin, who begins to nod.
"I mean, yeah, I agree. There's no harm in saying hi, right? Not gonna lose something you never had in the first place," she gives you a soft smile.
All you can do is just sit there, stiff as a board. You felt like your parents had given you 'The Talk' and felt too embarrassed to move.
"...Okay, thanks for that. I'm just gonna slide on outta here, crawl up to my room and die. Bye, guys," you opened the back seat door to the car and stepped out into the dark. You began to walk up the drive home.
"Same time tomorrow?" Robin shouted through Steve's open window.
"Sure, see you in the morning." you shouted back. The pair drove away and all you could do was bury your face into your scarf again.
You unlock your door, kick off your boots, take off your scarf and coat, and throw yourself onto the sofa. Your mom calls through from the kitchen to see if it's you and tells you dinner is in the microwave ready to reheat. You shout back to her that you'll be there in a minute, sinking into the sofa a little.
'I've been here two fucking days and I've already been told to make a move on someone I don't even know,' your inner monologue spoke again. '...he is pretty cute though, so I guess that helps.'
