Hello, I prepared some statistics to give you a short overview of Ghost's amazingly successful 2022. It is based on data I collected between 22/12/2021 and 22/12/2022.

The big Ghost event of 2022 was of course the release of the band's fifth album, IMPERA.

Since March 11, it has sold nearly 500,000 copies, won the American Music Award for Favorite Rock Album and received a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance ('Call Me Little Sunshine').

Within the first week of its release, the album reached #2 on the Billboard 200 (ranking the 200 most popular music albums and EPs in the United States) and ranked in the top 20 best-selling albums in 19 countries across the world:

#1 in Sweden, Austria, Germany, Finland, Spain

#2 in US, UK, Belgium, Norway, Netherlands

#3 in Australia, Canada

#5 in Switzerland, Ireland, France

#7 in Poland

#8 in Hungary

#12 in Denmark, Portugal

#20 in Italy

IMPERA is Ghost’s best charting album to date.

On YouTube, the band amassed a staggering 260 million views. 840,000 people subscribed to the channel this year, which makes up 42% of all current subscribers.

5 most watched videos on YouTube in 2022:

Mary On A Cross (Official Audio) – 32 million views

Call Me Little Sunshine (Official Music Video) – 15 million views

Square Hammer (Official Music Video) – 11 million views

Mary On A Cross (Live in Tampa 2022) – 8.2 million views

Spillways (Official Music Video) – 6.8 million views

On Spotify, the band amassed 1,285,625 new followers. That’s around 61% of all followers since the band appeared on the platform.

5 most streamed songs on Spotify in 2022:

Mary On A Cross - 193,709,473 streams

Call Me Little Sunshine – 41,108,589 streams

Square Hammer – 29,720,042 streams

Dance Macabre – 26,494,053 streams

Spillways – 24,910,870 streams

It goes without saying that the viral success of Mary On A Cross on TikTok brought in a lot of new fans this year, but the magnitude of it becomes even more astonishing if you look at numbers.

On this graph, I marked a few events that resulted in a noticeable spike in the number of monthly listeners on Spotify, including the approximate time when MOAC began to gain traction on TikTok. As you can see, nothing, not even the release of a new album, gave the band as much attention as the 3-year old song suddenly raising in popularity on one single platform.

Between end of July and beginning of October, the number of monthly listeners on Spotify skyrocketed from 2.5 million to 12 million. This is a 380% increase.

Although the numbers have been in decline since then, it appears that for the past month they have stayed at a steady 9 million. As of today (Dec 22, 2022) the exact number is 9,110,996. Exactly a year ago (Dec 22, 2021) the number was 1,999,951. A hefty 355% increase in only a year.

Some other milestones and fun facts:

On June 7, Cirice, Dance Macabre, and Square Hammer were all certified Gold by the RIAA for sales of 500,000 units in the USA. Following the viral success, Mary On A Cross was also certified Gold on November 20.

The band's most liked post on Instagram this year was a video of Papa throwing the first pitch at the White Sox game (273,241 likes).

The episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live where Ghost performed Call Me Little Sunshine was watched by around 1.3 million people.

In September, Ghost reached over 12 million monthly listeners on Spotify and was the 450th most streamed artist globally - that's 450 out of over 11 million!

As of today with over 1.6 billion accumulated streams Ghost is one of the 1,000 most successful artists on the platform of all time (currently #808).

On September 11, Mary On A Cross peaked at #1 in the Viral Hits chart on Spotify in 54 countries across the world.

It was also the highest charting Swedish song on the platform in 2022, peaking globally at #31.

At this point I think it’s safe to declare that Ghost’s global success reached unprecedent heights this year and even allowed them to officially join the ranks of mainstream artists. With all of the above, 70 completed shows this year and many more to come in 2023, and with media of the likes of The Wall Street Journal proclaiming Ghost “the next generation of arena stars,” it looks like that the band is well on the way to become one of the biggest rock acts of this century. Not bad for a side project started by one Swede in his bedroom somewhere in Linköping.

Let us hope 2023 will be as devilishly good!

As of 31 Dec 2018, there were 164 James/Regulus fics on AO3.

2019 - 205

2020 - 314

2021 - 969

2022 - 3,860 (year Crimson Rivers, biggest Jegulus fic, is published)

2023 - 10,887

2024 - 13,700+

There are now (March 2024) about half as many Jegulus fics as Jily. At 2024 rate of about 1000 new fics a month for Jegulus (difference between '24 and '23), there will be about 22,000 at the end of 2024. There are about 26,000 for Jily today. The rate is about 300/month. If Jegulus continues to grow at this rate it will out-fic Jily by the end of 2025.

Before 2021/2022, Jegulus was a rare pair. There is no "years ago" with Jegulus.

Jily shippers became "annoying" when Jegulus started tagging everything Jily, or bashed Jily and tagged Jily, or bashed Lily. Jegulus criticism came when Jegulus shippers said their ship could be canon or canon compliant.

We were getting along until Jegulus exploded and made it everyone else's problem.

2023 Fic Stats

February 2023, I decided to start tracking the amount of fic I read. I travelled a lot last year, quite a bit more than normal. I read a lot of fic when I travel.

I did a half year update at the end of June 2023. Between February and June, I read just under 13 million words.

February through December, I read just over 30 million words and 2,049 individual fic (though several are the same fic on a reread).

Some stats:

Hello.

If it's not too much trouble, can you name the specific sites that show abortion is the number 1 killer of babies?

Normally, I would Google it, but I'm worried I'll either find another set of statistics that don't show this or I won't find anything recent. Maybe if I looked through my liked blogs, I'd find the site, but... we're talking nearly 4,000+ liked blogs 😅

No worries I understand that’s a lot to sift through lol

And honestly, even using google it will be challenging to find a place that lists it as the number one killer because, as messed up as it is, nowhere that officially calculates leading causes of death even includes abortion in the statistics. They don’t count it as a cause of death for infants at all and that’s because if they did it would surpass every other cause at an alarming rate.

This is why to determine that we have to look at the numbers ourselves. Most places says SIDS or birth defects are the leading cause of death in infants (after birth, of course).

According to the CDC, there 3400 cases of SIDS per year in the US.

And for birth defects and congenital abnormalities they estimate about 3,963 deaths per year.

Here is a chart for the leading causes of fetal death in 2020 from the CDC

And we can see from this chart that in 2020 there where about 20,854 fetal deaths.

In contrast, if we look at the CDC for how many abortions were performed in the US in 2020, we see the number is 620,327. And anyone who can tell which number is bigger can see what the real leading cause of death for infants is.

But not only is abortion the leading cause of death in infants, it is the leading cause of death worldwide.

This snapshot from worldometer on Dec. 31 of 2021 shows that there were over 42 million abortions performed.

If we look at the current worldometer stat we can see there have already been almost 28,000,000 abortions performed throughout the world this year.

Here some articles that discuss abortion being the leading cause of death although they are not research sites.

You missed him more than you could express with the words of both the English and Korean language.

Having met him as a newbie stylist, you would've never thought that you'd end up dating the boy you enjoyed styling. Jisung was loud, funny, and was always talking for the both of you while you did his hair.

Unbeknownst to you, however, he absolutely loved the way you did his hair. He sometimes wondered how he didn't fall asleep while you ran your fingers over his scalp. Besides that, he loved your gentle nature.

You always told him to shout if you were being too harsh while combing or styling, or to voice if he was uncomfortable and needed something. At some point some of the other members (specifically Hyunjin and Changbin) had complained about never being able to have you as their stylist. When you had asked why, they said that Han had been bragging about how he had once told you that he was overheating and felt suffocated, gushing about how you had grabbed him some water and told him to say if he felt any worse.

You smiled at the picture he sent you from his hotel, guessing that he and the rest of the guys were getting out of the pool. You sent him a quick message gushing about how nice he looked against the background, not failing to mention how much you loved his slightly ruffled hair.

You couldn't help but smile as you drove to his hotel in Busan where they were having a 3 week vacation just before going back to promoting. You had arrived back from a month away, having taken on a job for GOT7. Your droopy eyes giving away that you were jet-lagged.

You had missed your squirrel more than you thought you would, finding the short five minute FaceTimes too short for your satisfaction, not wanting to keep him awake longer than necessary due to the time differences. You pulled into the parking lot with a bad case of the jitters, beyond excited to see him again in person and anticipating a good reaction from your sudden arrival.

You got even more excited when you heard Chris being thrown back into the pool, snickering. Grabbing your things, you easily managed getting into Jisung's room (having gotten a key card for easy access). You stepped inside, putting down your bags by the door and going to lay down on his bed. You had gotten somewhat comfortable after putting on some compilations of Jisung singing, unintentionally falling asleep. An hour or so later, Jisung got back. He was shocked to find you sound asleep, his voice coming from your phone in a hushed tone and your arms wrapped around one of his pillows.

Smiling, he was unable to help the sudden pang of affection for you that swelled in his chest. You had been trying so hard to stay awake to surprise him properly, but the jet-lag had gotten to you first. Gently he pried your phone from your hands, switching it off and putting it on the bedside table.

He got undressed, wearing a sweater and boxers while he climbed into bed. He chuckled as he saw you wearing one of his jerseys, shaking his head at the cute sight: it was a good two to three sizes too big for you, and the sleeves were hanging so far down your hands, you could immediately tell how much broader his shoulders were compared to your smaller form. Making sure not to wake you, he got comfortable, snaking his arm over your waist and onto your stomach, a content sigh leaving his lips.

You whined as you turned over, pressing your face into Jisung's chest, your hands taking hold of his clothes' fabric. "Jisung..." you said as you breathed in his scent. "I missed you," you muttered tiredly, words slurring together. "I love you..."

It was clear you were still half asleep, but you had still made sure to tell him you loved him, never once missing the opportunity and especially now that he was here with you.

He smiled at you warmly, kissing your forehead while you brought a leg over his waist. "I love you, too," he whispered, his breathing evening out.

Yes, spending Christmas with his family she already heard because it was posted on my blog. She can assume all she wants, but that doesn't make a scoop either. And as you can see above (and you can look it all up if you need to) shows last time he spent NYE with a lady friend was in 2016 and he's not spending his NYE 'always abroad' as you can see as well! What happened to her 'I'm only interested in FACTS'! Maybe she first should get her facts straight before she posts...

A bipartisan group of lawmakers led by Sen. Bernie Sanders introduced legislation Wednesday that would require the Pentagon to return a portion of its enormous and ever-growing budget to the Treasury Department if it fails another audit in the coming fiscal year.

The Audit the Pentagon Act, an updated version of legislation first introduced in 2021, comes amid mounting concerns over rampant price gouging by military contractors and other forms of waste and abuse at an agency that's set to receive at least $842 billion for fiscal year 2024.

"The Pentagon and the military-industrial complex have been plagued by a massive amount of waste, fraud, and financial mismanagement for decades. That is absolutely unacceptable," Sanders (I-Vt.) said in a statement as he unveiled the bill alongside Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa).

"If we are serious about spending taxpayer dollars wisely and effectively," said Sanders, "we have got to end the absurdity of the Pentagon being the only agency in the federal government that has never passed an independent audit."

In December, the Pentagon flunked its fifth consecutive audit, unable to account for more than 60% of its $3.5 trillion in total assets.

But congressional appropriators appear largely unphased as they prepare to raise the agency's budget to record levels, with some working to increase it beyond the topline set by the recently approved debt ceiling agreement. Watchdogs have warned that the deal includes a loophole that hawkish lawmakers could use to further inflate the Pentagon budget under the guise of aiding Ukraine.

Late Wednesday, following a lengthy markup session, the House Armed Services Committee passed its version of the National Defense Authorization Act, which proposes a total military budget of $886 billion. Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) was the only committee member to vote no.

A huge chunk of the Pentagon's budget for next year is likely to go to profitable private contractors, which make a killing charging the federal government exorbitant sums for weapons and miscellaneous items, from toilet seats to ashtrays to coffee makers.

"Defense contractors are lining their pockets with taxpayer money while the Pentagon fails time and time again to pass an independent audit. It's a broken system," said Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.), a co-sponsor of the new bill. "We need to compel the Department of Defense to take fraud and mismanagement seriously—and we need Congress to stop inflating our nation's near-trillion-dollar defense budget."

"Putting the wants of contractors over the needs of our communities," he added, "isn't going to make our country any safer."

If passed, the Audit the Pentagon Act of 2023 would force every component of the Defense Department that fails an audit in fiscal year 2024 to return 1% of its budget to the Treasury Department.

A fact sheet released by Sanders' office argues that "the need for this audit is clear," pointing to a Commission on Wartime Contracting in Iraq report estimating that "$31-60 billion had been lost to fraud and waste."

"Separately, the special inspector general for Afghanistan Reconstruction reported that the Pentagon could not account for $45 billion in funding for reconstruction projects," the fact sheet notes. "A recent Ernst & Young audit of the Defense Logistics Agency found that it could not properly account for some $800 million in construction projects. CBS News recently reported that defense contractors were routinely overcharging the Pentagon—and the American taxpayer—by nearly 40-50%, and sometimes as high as 4,451%."

Further examples of the Pentagon's waste and accounting failures abound.

Last month, the Government Accountability Office released a report concluding that the Pentagon can't account for F-35 parts worth millions of dollars.

Earlier this week, as The Washington Post reported, the Pentagon said it "uncovered a significant accounting error that led it to overvalue the amount of military equipment it sent to Ukraine since Russia's invasion last year—by $6.2 billion."

"The 'valuation errors,' as a Pentagon spokeswoman put it, will allow the Pentagon to send more weapons to Ukraine now before going to Congress to request more money," the Post noted.

Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), chair of the Senate Finance Committee and a supporter of the Audit the Pentagon Act, said Wednesday that "taxpayers can't keep writing blank checks—they deserve long-overdue transparency from the Pentagon about wasteful defense spending."

"If the Department of Defense cannot conduct a clean audit, as required by law," said Wyden, "Congress should impose tough financial consequences to hold the Pentagon accountable for mismanaging taxpayer money."
