"You killed her."
Those were the only words you could think to utter staring at your deranged ex-partner. "You fucking killed her, didn't you?"
In spite of your current rage and distress, all J. D. could seem to do was offer you a devilish grin and a smirk. "Well, I wouldn't say killed her, just... I put her out of her misery, is all. Charity work, really."
"You did it. You murdered my best friend. Do you think this is a joke?"
"Well, it is quite funny, if I do say so myself."
You weren't quite sure what you were feeling at the moment. Anger was one thing, but heartbroken, too, for you had lost the person that was closest to you.
And yet, your inner turmoil aside, you felt a terrible, terrible smile slither its way across your face - a not because you were happy by any stretch - the situation you found yourself in was by no means one that'd cause you any feelings of joy - but simply because you had no idea what else to do.
"She was right. I should have stayed away from you. You're not a rebel. You're fucking psychotic."
"Well, you say tomato, I say 'to-mah-to'."
You grated your teeth together. "Just get out, J. D." You were much too tired to play any of J. D.'s mind games. You just wanted him gone. And for a moment - for one beautiful moment - he seemed to consider doing what you asked. But, alas, he was never one for folding so easily.
"No."
You drew in a sharp breath. "Excuse me?"
J. D. took a step closer to you. You held your ground, hoping to give off the impression that you weren't intimidated by what he might do; you knew he had a loaded gun on him, and his unpredictable nature didn't ease your racing heart.
"I'm not leaving, and you can't make me."
"J. D., this is my house."
"Well, technically it's your parent's home, and I doubt you want to get them involved, unless you'd like two more of your loved ones with their brains blown out."
You stiffened, your throat tightening up. Upon your lack of a response, J. D.'s mouth curled into a wicked smile. "That's what I thought. Now, how about we both go out to 7-11 and grab a couple of slushies?"
J. D. outstretched his arm in order to grasp your hand, but just as your fingers brushed, you jerked backwards. J. D.'s smile faded.
"Y/n - "
"I'll call the cops - I'll fucking call the cops on you, J. D.!"
J. D. raised an eyebrow and began nodding. "The cops?" He inquired. "Tell me, when they arrest me, do you think they're going to ignore the fact that you somehow knew for a fact that I killed Heather, Kurt, and Ram? What proof do you have that doesn't incriminate yourself? What will you say when they ask you how you know it's me? You wrote the letters."
"Yeah, well I didn't murder people!"
A strangely exuberant laughter escaped J. D.'s lips. "You didn't, did you? Then you didn't give Heather that mug of liquid drainer? And you also didn't shoot Kurt?"
You paused briefly, thinking of a quick defence. "Well I didn't know that was the wrong cup! And Kurt - I was just so shocked - "
J. D. took a step forward. You took a step back. J. D. grinned. He continued his approach until you inevitably collided with the wall, letting out a small gasp. "Admit it, Y/n!" He trapped you with his arms. "You say I'm evil, but look in the mirror! We're the same! We both do fucked up shit, and we like it! I saw that look on your face when Heather died. You were glad."
"We are not the same. I did not want them dead. Whatever you thought you saw in me when Heather died, it wasn't there. You're delusional, J. D. Now, I'm calling the cops, so don't even try to - "
"You can't call them. You know that. The moment you do your parents would be dead - and, besides, you know you couldn't pay to have a lawyer send me to jail. I know your parents wouldn't be able to afford it."
He was right. And you hated him for it. You didn't even ask how he knew your family wouldn't have sufficient funds - at this point, you'd be surprised if he didn't know something about you or your personal life.
"Well, I'm not coming with you, no matter what you'd do. I'd rather - "
J. D. didn't allow you to finish, forcefully swallowing your words with the press of his lips. The kiss was anything then what it should have been - it was greedy, feverish, demanding. You didn't have so much as a moment to breath as J. D. devoured you, leaving you terribly, terribly breathless. His icy fingers tug into your skin, surely leaving bruises, and you shuddered at the feeling of his wandering hands along your exposed skin.
J. D.'s kisses now were not what they once were. A million years ago, they sweet and tender, a warm interlocking of souls on a cold winter's day. They were beautiful and wonderful and tasted of nothing but kindness and thoughtfulness. But this one was nothing like the ones you'd experienced in the past. It was hungry, rough as J. D. pressed you plush against him, searing as opposed to warm, poisonous as opposed to tender.
It was after what could only be described as an eternity that J. D. pulled away, staring at your dizzy self with a satisfied expression upon his face.
Because, at last, here you were, like a bird with clipped wings, caught in J. D.'s trap, the one you'd unknowingly watched him craft bar by bar.
You froze as you felt two arms slither around your waist, firmly pulling you to J. D. He liked you like this - he could practically smell the fear radiating off of you, and it was intoxicating. Neither slushies nor cigars could compare to the high he felt from your presence.
"You're not leaving. You can't. And, besides, I'd kill you if you did." He let out a satisfied sigh. "I worship you - can't you see that?" You shivered as J. D.'s warm breath tickled your ear. "We were meant to be, darling. There was a reason we met... you were made for me."
You let out a breath you didn't know you were holding as J. D. slowly let you go, grasping your chin between his forefinger and thumb. You naturally diverted your gaze.
J. D. grabbed your arm and squeezed it tightly, causing you to let out a small yelp. "Look at me."
Hesitantly, you obliged, your stomach knotting when you caught the dark glimmer in J. D.'s eyes. It was then that you knew - knew that you'd never once be free again, knew you'd be forever bound to J. D.
"We're going to fix this fucked up world together, Y/n."

Imagine… Stealing Candles For Dean’s Birthday Pie
Tumblr media
Pairing: Dean x Sister!reader (platonic)
Square: Impala @supernatural-jackles
Word Count: 895
Warnings: theft, implied arrest, a little angst, Dean being adorkable, fluff!
A/N: Happy Birthday, Dean! This is just random fluff. Also written for @supernatural-jackles’ Tell Me a Story bingo. Enjoy!
_____
"I don't wanna talk about it, Dean." You mumbled as you joined him in the Impala.
You could feel your big brother's eyes boring into you and you huffed out a breath as you buckled up your seat belt. Getting picked up from the police station for shoplifting and having to call Dean to bail you out was the complete opposite of what you were planning for tonight.
It was supposed to be a surprise and a nice one.
Dean started the engine so the heat blasted in your face and you could hear the lego pieces, that the three of you shoved through the vents when you were younger, rattling in the wind that warmed your cheeks. There was snow falling heavily on the windshield and the thick silence was cut by the wipers sliding over the glass every few seconds. While you just sat there, in the parking lot, until Dean was calm enough to speak.
"Dammit, Y/N," he growled and hit the steering wheel with an open palm, "What the hell were you thinking?!"
You shrugged and sniffled from the brief walk to the car in the cold. The snowflakes in your hair melted and wet the strands so some straggly hairs stuck to your cheeks.
It was Dean’s birthday and Sam was counting on you to get the candles for the pie he was attempting to make in the motel microwave.
You hung your head and gripped the excess jean material on your thighs, the jeans didn’t fit well, they were Dean’s hand-me-downs. You often got his clothes before Sam since girls matured and grew faster than boys. Then your jeans went to Sam when you grew out of them so you couldn’t cut them to length and instead rolled up each leg so that a heavy cuff sat on top of each boot. Snow always got into the top of the cuff this time of year and soaked through the layers, especially when the heat in the car started to melt it. The tips of your fingers grew numb with the longer and tighter you held the fabric between them.
If only your father let you run a credit card scam of your own, except he said there was no point because Dean had one and anything you needed you could ask him for. And you were underage so you'd need a fake ID too and the only one of those you had were school IDs. Nobody would believe you were over eighteen anyways. You just turned thirteen, only a year older than little Sammy, and you looked it.
"It's your birthday," you muttered and side-eyed your brother. "I couldn't afford the stupid candles."
His expression softened, "You could've asked me. That’s what I’m here for.”
You shrugged, "Would've ruined the surprise."
"Y/N, do you really think I had no idea what you and Sam have been planning for the past week? Subtly is not your strong suit, kiddo.” He chuckled.
"I'm sorry." You shrugged and kicked your boots together, trying to knock off the snow that hadn’t melted into your pant cuffs yet.
"It's okay,” Dean said and reached over to tousle up your hair.
You whined and shoved away his arm. Dean laughed at the frown you wore as you fixed your hair.
“Are you gonna tell dad?” You asked, nervously gripping your jeans again and chewing on your bottom lip.
You’d seen the amount of trouble Dean had gotten into with John growing up and you didn’t want any of it. You didn’t have the strength Dean had when it came to standing up to him. Except Dean never talked back, he just took all of his soldier up crap and kept going. You didn’t know how he did it.
He was different when your father was gone, he was lighter and way more fun. He’d joke around and let you get away with almost anything so long as you flashed him a smile. All Dean ever wanted was for you and Sammy to be happy and when you were, so was he.
“Hmmm,” he pretended to think about it as he made you sweat, “Nah, it can be our little secret.” You matched his smirk. “But the next time you kick off your boots in my car, you get last dibs on the shower for a week.”
“Ew, gross!” You scrunched up your face and pouted. Your brothers always made a mess of the motel bathroom with wet towels thrown everywhere, toothpaste and hair in the sink, not to mention the misadventures of aiming at the toilet. How hard was it really?! Not to mention the amount of times you’d fallen in because they couldn’t grasp the concept of putting the seat back down. “But-“
Dean cut you off talking to the Impala and patting the dash, “Sh-sh… It’s okay, Baby, she didn’t mean it.”
“Are you done, dork?” You tried to hide your amusement and raised your eyebrows at him.
He snorted and nodded as he shifted the car into drive, “Mhm.”
“Happy Birthday, Dean.” You said, unbuckling your seat belt and sliding across the bench seat to give him a hug when he stopped at the light. “…You know, I love you. Right?”
“I know,” Dean sighed into your hair and hugged you back even as the light turned green. “Love you, too, kiddo.”

Detective!Dean x Victim!Reader
Warnings: Language, Character Death, Anger
Words: 3,047
Series Masterlist - Main Masterlist - Patreon
10 more chapters to go!! The countdown is on!!
“You seem nervous, Sammy.” Dean smirks as he drops his keys and wallet into the little basket. “Not used to visiting prisons, huh?”
“No, actually, I try to avoid that as much as possible.” Sam tells his brother, glaring at him as he too empties his pockets.
“Well, hopefully this won’t take long and I can get you back on sacred ground.”
“Funny.” Dean can’t help but laugh at his brother as the two of them move towards the bars separating them from their destination. One of the guards gives the okay and within seconds the gate slowly opens. “You sure it’s okay that I’m here.”
“I need you here to prove that the deal is legit. That and I think having an actual lawyer here will help him talk.”
“I mostly meant because of my relationship with Y/N.”
“Please. He doesn’t know your involvement with her just like he doesn’t know mine. Just restrain yourself from reaching across the table and strangling him and we’re all good.”
“I’m sure that’s a task for you.” Sam meant it as a joke even though he knew there was some truth behind it, but he didn’t realize how true that statement was.
“It sure is.”
Just as they’re walking up to the interview room Dean is a little curious as to why there’s a few officers waiting there. At first he thinks it’s because they already have Paul in the room and they’re just standing guard, but when they turn their attention to the brothers just as they walk up to the door, Dean begins to think differently.
“Gentlemen.” Dean nods and then goes to reach for the door handle, but that motion ends when the sheriff speaks.
“Detective Winchester. I’m afraid Mr. McConnell isn’t available for any more interviews.” Hearing that of course pissed Dean off. He wasn’t stopping until he got answers from Paul.
“And why is that?” Dean demands, his anger about the situation clear not only in his voice but also in his eyes.
“I’m sorry detective.” the sheriff apologizes, getting Dean to feel more upset. That is until he explains why. “Paul McConnell was found dead in his cell yesterday morning.”
-
It was a struggle to hold in the anger he was feeling. As Dean looked down at the lifeless body he wanted to scream. He wanted to reach out and strangle the man. He was desperate to bring this sick individual back to life just so he could kill him himself.
Dean was pissed.
“39 and he died of cardiac arrest?”
“It happens more than you think.” Dean’s teeth grind together before he looks up at the coroner.
“What caused it?”
“Well…” The coroner dips his head a bit before walking to the base of the table. “If you’re looking for a better answer than nature just decided it was his time, then I don’t have one for ya.”
“So you’re trying to tell me that this was completely normal!?” The coroner only shrugs, clearly not having a better explanation.
“I’m sorry detective.” With a heavy scoff, Dean looks back at Pauls corpse, his jaw tight and teeth clenching together while he continues to hold in his fury. Then without another word, he spins on his heel and heads for the exit. Sam takes a moment to thank the coroner before following his brother, barely keeping up with him in the process.
Exiting the building, the door just about closes when Sam is able to catch it and push it open enough to slip outside. Dean was already halfway to his car at that point, so to make sure his brother didn’t leave without him Sam changed his pace to a jog, his long legs getting him to catch up fairly quickly.
“Dean.”
“This is unbelievable.” Dean huffs, looking back at the hospital with fire in his gaze. Sam releases a somber sigh knowing there isn’t really anything he can say to make this situation better.
“I’m sorry, Dean.” Sam sees the veins in his brother's neck strain themselves under the skin and he’s waiting for him to yell out in anger, but he continues to fight off that urge and instead slams his hands against the hood of his car.
It looks like Dean wants to say something but then he just continues to shake his head. If anything he was having his own argument silently with himself. Sam knows that this was the last lifeline. The only way Dean was finally going to be able to get the name of the man behind everything that has turned his life upside down and this too was taken away from him. Sam felt just as helpless as his brother.
“What can I do?” Acknowledging that Sam was actually there, Dean looks across the roof of his Baby, seeming just as speechless as he was seconds ago.
“I don’t know.”
“Okay.” Sam replies in a soft voice. “Well, if something comes up and I can help…let me know, okay?” Dean takes a moment before nodding and then pulls his door open. Sam looks on in defeat for a moment before joining his brother and then they both ride in silence back to Sam’s car.
-
Styles was clued in on what was going on with some random texts from Dean, but considering the situation and how upset Dean was, those texts were cut off. So Eddie wasn’t completely updated on everything that the detective had been doing without him. So when he saw his boss walk into the station and storm into his office, he was quick to get out of his seat and follow him there.
He catches the door before it slams shut in his face and carefully pushes it open, slipping into the room and shutting the door behind him before his boss could yell at him to get out.
“Did the deal work?” When Dean slams his keys on the desk and just glares across the room, Styles understands that something went wrong. Just wasn’t sure what. “What happened?”
“He’s dead.” Dean spits out after he’s dropped himself in his chair.
“What?”
“Paul McConnell? He’s dead. Found in his cell yesterday morning, cardiac arrest.” Eddie is just as shocked by the news as Dean was, but he’s a lot lower on the anger scale than Dean.
“You’re kidding.”
“Do I look like I’m fucking kidding!?”
“No…” Styles sighs, hating that he didn’t think that statement through before it came out. But after taking another breath, he takes a seat across from his boss, trying to unscramble the problem in his head. “It just blows my mind that he has a heart attack after you fight to get this deal pushed through for him. The odds are just…” Styles can’t even finish his sentence he’s so mind blown.
“Yeah, well…it happened.” Eddie wants to ask questions that he knows will only get him smartass answers so he stays quiet, letting all the new info sink in. “I just want to know why. Why do I keep getting this close just to have everything taken away again!?” Eddie’s thoughts are in overdrive because just like Dean he finds it very strange that someone so young would have a heart attack, and for it to happen right now? Maybe it was just a horrible coincidence, but he wasn’t fully convinced.
“What if it’s not a coincidence?” Dean’s anger is far from gone when he hears Eddie say this and seeing as his brain is still fueled by rage it’s hard for him to see what his partner is getting at.
“What!?”
“Just hear me out.” Styles tells him, shifting in his seat so that he’s facing his boss head on. “We have this mans DNA in our hands, just days away from finding out who it belongs to and what happens?”
“It gets snatched.” Dean answers, irritant still in his voice.
“Exactly.” Eddie says with excitement and succeeds in getting Dean’s full attention now. “Then, Paul not so subtly confesses to you that there was someone else working with him, most likely pulling the strings throughout the whole operation, right?” Dean nods, his thoughts trying to jump onto his partner's train. “You fight to get him off death row in exchange for a name and then…”
“He winds up dead.”
“YES!” Eddie slams his hand on the desktop, making Dean flinch a tad. “So what if someone went in there and did this to him to shut him up?”
“It makes sense.”
“Damn right it does!” Eddie is almost too excited that he’s come up with an answer that he doesn’t realize there’s still big holes to fill up.
“But how do you give someone a heart attack?” That’s when Eddie pauses in his self celebration and his mind goes back to researching. Dean of course is hoping he has a quick answer for that too, but it’s clear that he doesn’t.
“Could be a drug.” Eddie finally says, but shakes his head a bit. “But the toxicology report will take some time.” They both feel the defeat with that, but just like everything else, they have no control over it.
“Well, hey, it’s a theory. So what can we do in the meantime?” Again, Styles thinks it over and starts with something that can be a longshot, but it’s something.
“We can look into Pauls visitors. See if anyone suspicious has been coming to see him.” Dean nods slowly.
“Okay.”
“And we can give the coroner a heads up, make sure he looks over the body again to see if anything looks off.” Dean continues to nod, happy that Eddie has a clearer mind than he does because with how upset he was, the basic answers would not come so easily.
“Alright. Why don’t you head back to the hospital, talk to the coroner because honestly…I really don’t want to see him right now.”
“Okay.” Eddie agrees, getting out of his chair.
“And I’ll head to the prison, get the log and possibly look over some security footage if they’ll let me.”
“Great!” Styles cheers, already heading for the door while Dean swipes his keys from the desktop.
“Say we try to meet back here in about an hour? A little more?”
“Sounds good, boss.”
-
The list of visitors for Paul wasn't very long which Dean was grateful for but also nervous about at the same time. Smaller list could mean an easy find or just a complete loss, and with how his streak has been going…he was leaning towards loss.
He looked up every name on the list, finding out where they lived, who their families were, if they had a criminal background of any type. Pretty much found everything on them except their shoe size and unfortunately everyone came up clean. Except for one person.
“Alright, the doc thought we were crazy to think it was anything but a heart attack, but I made sure he would look into it further for us.” Styles explains as he enters the office, two coffee cups in his grasp. “How did it go at the prison?”
“Well,” Dean starts just as he takes the hot coffee from his partner. “They wouldn’t let me see any footage because the one to authorize that is on vacation.”
“What’s that like?” Dean sends Eddie a quick grin and then takes a drink.
“But, I did get a very small list of visitors.”
“Is it bad that I find that satisfying?” A tad confused, Dean looks for an explanation. “You know, you hear about all these monsters in the world and the majority of them get this fan base and usually the list of visitors and letters coming in is…well, it’s a lot. So, to know this guy didn’t get the fame…I like it.” Looking satisfied, Dean had to admit he agreed.
“Me too.” he says, earning a nod from his partner before he takes another drink. “So, everyone on here checks out. All but one.” he tells him before reaching for his printer and yanking a piece of paper from it before sliding it across the desk. Styles looks over the man on the paper, starts with his name and lets his eyes scan down the paper.
“Okay? What am I looking for?”
“Look at the line under his name. Right under his birthdate.” Sitting back in his chair, Dean enjoys his coffee a bit more as he waits for his partners reaction.
“What the fuck…”
“Right?” Meeting his boss's gaze, Eddie soon shakes his head and looks back down at the paper a tad impressed.
“This guy’s good.”
“Yeah.” Dean clicks his tongue and sits back up in his seat. “That or a dead man really did visit Paul McConnell.”
“Shit.” Styles lets out a breath, finally taking a few sips of his own coffee. “So instead of helping it seems that this just put us right back to square one.” Dean shrugs, seeming a bit defeated, but more tired now than anything.
“Meh. It was a good idea. But like you said, this guy is good. He always seems to be a few steps ahead of us and I have no idea how to cut him off.” As Dean drinks more of his caffeine pick me up, Styles grows a bit uncomfortable, glancing at his friend and having an inner battle in whether or not he should tell him about another idea that came to mind. “You alright?” Stiffening in his spot, Eddie starts to silently kick himself for not being more relaxed.
“Uh…yeah. Yeah, I’m good.” he tries to play it off and takes another drink of his coffee. But by the way Dean is staring at him, he knows he’s been caught and there’s no point in keeping it to himself anymore. “Alright.” he sighs, setting his cup down and leaning forward in his seat. “I’ve been thinking about another way that we may possibly find out who this guy is.” he can see the excitement grow instantly in the man across from him and he just knows that it’s not going to be like that for long.
“Okay. How?” Taking a second to pull himself together, Styles sighs softly and prepares to get whatever comes next.
“Well, technically there is still one person that could identify our guy.”
“Alright, Styles…you know how I hate it when people drag things on. So what the hell are you talking about?” Eddie takes a moment to swallow down his fear of upsetting his friend and just lets it out, but not before his eyes land on Dean’s phone. That little glance clued Dean on what was coming next and just like Eddie thought, his excitement died down fast.
“If he was in that house at any time then Y/N would know.”
“No.” Dean says instantly.
“Look, I know it’s not ideal but she is the only other option we have right now.”
“And how do you suppose we go about this, Styles!? She doesn’t remember! For all she knows there was only one man! One! And that was Paul!”
“Look, man, I understand okay? That’s part of the reason why I didn’t…”
“Then what are you suggesting!?” Taking another moment to ensure he makes it through this conversation, Eddie takes a few more breaths and thankfully Dean doesn’t cut him off.
“Law enforcement has a tactic they use for people who have been through traumatic instances and can’t remember certain details.”
“Oh, God. Please don’t tell me you’re thinking what I think you’re thinking.” Dean falls back in his chair, his fingers roughly massaging his forehead.
“It’s known to work ninety percent of the time, Dean.”
“Yeah, but at what cost!?”
“Listen…I know it’s not a good idea and I really wasn’t going to suggest it. But if you want to cut this guy off? This is our only other option right now.” It’s definitely not sitting right with Dean and Styles knew that going into this conversation. In all honesty, he didn’t feel right about it. But this was their only option for them at this point in time.
“So, what? I get Y/N in here and we put her into this interview where she relives that hell hole all over again and then what? What happens if she still can’t remember? Because I’m beginning to think that if he was in that house and God forbid in that room with the girls, I’m really thinking he drugged them. He knows how to cover his ass and he wouldn’t risk them seeing his face.”
“I agree. But even if they were drugged, maybe she can remember simple traits. Smells? His voice? Who knows?” Dean subconsciously shakes his head a bit more, every part of him that wants to protect you telling him this is an awful idea. But the professional part of him knows that his partner is right, and this is a good idea.
“Okay, well then the next thing. We’d need to find someone who is authorized to do a cognitive interview. Because not just anyone can do it.”
“I know a girl.” Dean seems taken aback by that fact. “She’s worked with the FBI for years but also does some side work to help precincts all over the U.S. She’s good and she’d take good care of Y/N.” Dean felt sick to his stomach for even thinking about doing this. “We can at least ask her, you know? It’s not like we need to force her to do this.” Dean nods, liking that fact.
Though giving you a choice made it seem a bit better Dean still didn’t like it, but the detective part of him reaches for his phone anyway and opens up his messages. He knows that there is no way he can speak to you and not worry you with his own distraught voice, so this was the only option he had to get a hold of you.
-Hey, honey. Is there any way you can come by the station for a bit?
He feels bile rising in his throat as he hits send. His heart is beating like crazy as it slides down to his feet and honestly, he feels as if he could pass out.
-Of course! Give me 15 minutes

I’ve been thinking. After reading about people’s reactions to Jared and the discussions about CE needing to enforce their own rules, and rude fans, something really stands out for me.
Jared truly gets the most extreme reactions from the SPN fandom, both positive and negative, and the “reasons” are just as extreme.
You have the people who “hate” him, or say they do. Some even go out of their way to be rude to his face. But, their reasons for hating him are actually insane. They hate him because he’s the lead (instead of Jensen), because he was “in the way” of destiel, (blocking Jensen and Misha’s characters from baging 🙄), or because they attribute beliefs or actions to him that are contradictory to how he actually behaves. And they take everything he says in bad faith, attributing the worst intentions possible to the things he says. In short, most people’s reasons for “hating” Jared are either jealousy-based or fabricated. It’s pathetic really, especially how vehement some are about hating him when it’s not even the real him, or it’s for something that isn’t his fault (he didn’t force the writers to have Dean impaled on rebar). Finally, people who claim to hate him for his actions (pranks, the arrest, “mean” jokes) excuse the same or similar actions in Jensen snd Misha.
People who have more “legitimate” reasons for disliking him (maybe his personality irritates them, or they don’t like his acting style or shows/movies), are generally not insane about it. They are more apathetic about him. This is fair enough because not everyone vibes with everyone. But it’s funny that for people who maybe just aren’t fans for non/fandom wank reasons probably don’t actually hate him. They’re just ignore him.
Then you have the people who love him. They love him for his mental health campaigns. They love him for how sweet he is to fans: listening intently, hugging tight, going that one extra step to make them feel special. Many of these people go up to him with stories of how he has done something to actively make their lives better or help give them strength, etc. The thing is, the love is based on his actual actions. We obviously don’t really know him (he could be a huge asshole behind the scenes, though I doubt it), but the things people like him for are actual things he has done, or it’s because of who he appears to be.
It’s just so crazy to me that he gets the most vitriolic hate (out of the SPN crew), when it’s mostly for things that aren’t even in his control. It’s wild.
Anyway, I have “met” Jared a few times at cons. I’ve never told him I love him, and I probably never will, because that’s not a term I can throw around lightly. And I don’t actually know him on any personal level. But what I can say is that my “worst” interactions with him were him seeming tired and subdued, while my best have been … so good that they still brought me little moments of happy for weeks after they happened.
I guess my point to almost this ramble was, I hate that he gets people treating him crappy on occasion, but I’m thankful that Jared also get huge amounts of very genuine appreciation from fans, too. And I’m sure for him, the good far outweighs the bad.
I’m sorry this got so long.
What was your impression of Jared at Fan X? Did anything stand out for you?
Thank you for sharing! I think it's crazy how people hate him for the dumbest things that he's not at all responsible for (like the writing on SPN), or really weren't that big a deal (like his bar fight).
I actually see the apathetic fans much like I do Jared fans, i.e., people who consider Jared as a human being and then determine whether the like him or not.
As for my experience, I'm not really an emotional person, so I tend to look at things from a more analytical point of view. I found Jared to be extremely smart in the way he approaches people. He gets down on their level, he looks them in the eye and speaks to each person directly, and I suspect (based on his comments on my jacket in both ops), that he finds something unique about each person that he can focus on to help him remember them (at least, for a little while).
He's also really great at adapting to different people; whether they need humor or empathy, he can pull those reactions out of his hat on a dime. All if this, of course, personalizes and elevates each person's experience with him.
My photo op experience was pretty much as I expected, he was very friendly and very welcoming (with his huge smile), said that my jacket was his favorite, and thanked me for coming.
(I'll be keeping my jacket forever and if Jared ever comes back to Salt Lake, it's going right back on!)
As for my auto experience, I was so focused on telling him how much I appreciated and loved both yeehaw shows this last year (particularly Windy) that I didn't really give him a chance to get a word in. LOL! He did promise to pass along my love, though!
Gen's line was much shorter so I had a chance to ask about the different kinds of animals they now have at home and at the ranch. (It was actually smaller than I thought with goats, donkeys, chickens, and dogs, but they are getting a few Highland cows soon.)
What's funny, is that when thinking of what I could talk to Jared about, it wasn't a very long list (all of the question I disregarded would have required a M&G). But I had many more questions I could have asked Gen if we had the time! She was absolutely delightful and very approachable.
I think the highlight of my day was the panel. Jared and Gen were so comfortable on stage, joking with each other, joking with the audience, keeping the conversation moving... I know Jared's been doing this for a while, but Gen was right there with him. She was much more animated than what I'd previously seen of her at JIB. I really hope they continue to do panels together.

Cesar is a good-looking guy – both he and Jesse are – but Cesar has the thick dark hair, crow’s feet, piercing eyes thing Dean usually goes for. Something about him feels rough like Benny. Strong.
If it was fifteen years ago, Dean would have flirted with him. Don’t eat where you shit is a common adage, and, as a rule of thumb, Dean stayed clear of hunters in case word ever got back to Dad. But Dean can’t say he’s always been good at following rules. That’s how he and Lee started hooking up. He had a raging crush on Dad’s old army pall, Deacon, for the month he spent with him when he was a teenager. He even tried kissing Caleb once when he was very drunk and very lonely, but Caleb put a stop to that real quick.
I’m twice your age, kid, he’d growled, even though Dean had been holding his own on hunts since he was seventeen. But Caleb never told Dad, so he was a decent guy in more ways than one.
Except Dean strangely has no desire to flirt with Cesar, now. It’s not just the idea that the other man might reject his advances – or worse. But it’s also that Cas is working this case with them, and Dean doesn’t really want to hook up with someone with Cas literally in the room next door.
"So, how'd you and Jesse start hunting together, anyway?" Dean makes conversation, winding Baby through the backroads, tires crunching against old snow and slush.
Cesar huffs a laugh as if recalling an amusing memory, "Chupacabra. Wasn't pretty."
Dean laughs, too. "Nasty suckers. My dad, brother, and I went after one back in '95. Hell of a thing. Picking chicken feathers out of my hair for weeks afterward."
Dean feels Cesar's eyes heavy on him from the passenger seat. "You were young, then, when you got into this?"
"It was a...family business of a kind," Dean shrugs. "My dad taught me and my brother everything we knew."
"Jesse was young, too," Cesar replies, voice somber. "Me - I was already an adult, and I grew up in a household already well-acquainted with the supernatural world. But to be introduced to it as a child, I can't imagine."
"Never really knew much else," Dean says, trying to keep his voice casual. Talking about his childhood with strangers isn't exactly his idea of a good time.
“Your brother and father, are they…?”
Dean’s all-too aware what Cesar is asking.
“Dad died on the job…Jesus, ten years ago, now. My brother’s still in the game. Doesn’t, well, doesn’t take as many cases anymore. It’s complicated.”
“He doesn’t mind that you found a new partner?” Cesar asks with a swift smile.
Dean matches his smile. He likes talking about Cas. “Nah. I trust Cas with my life. Sam does, too.” Dean’d like to talk about Cas more, but he finds himself weirdly bashful. He switches gears, “You and Jesse always hunt together, then?”
Cesar laughs like Dean’s missing out on some joke, “It’d be difficult for us if we didn’t. We’re married.” He pulls a ring out from a chain around his neck. "Too risky in this line of business to wear them. Don't know if you've ever seen a degloved finger?" He shudders.
“What – oh,” Dean stammers. Jesus, is he glad he didn’t flirt with the dude.
"We're careful who we tell," Cesar says with a significant look, like he’s waiting for Dean to lash out. Dean’s been there. He’s taken more than his fair share of punches because he said the wrong thing to the wrong guy at a bar.
"No - yeah - of course,” he rushes to say. “You don't need to, ah, worry. I - one of my best friends is a lesbian. It's, ah, cool." Before he adds something stupid, something like: I also sometimes like sucking cock, he makes himself ask, "So, what's that like? Settling down with another hunter?"
Cesar laughs, relief evident in his voice. “It’s frustrating. Terrifying more often than not. You’ve got twice as many reasons to worry about getting everyone out safely. Jesse’ll send me into cardiac arrest one of these days – the stunts that boy pulls.”
“I know what you mean,” Dean laughs, too, despite the scratchy feeling in his throat, like he’s having an allergic reaction. “Cas drives me crazy sometimes. He doesn’t always, ah, understand what he’s heading into.”
“You and Cas seem close,” Cesar says slowly. “But you’re not…?”
Funny, Dean and Cas have been mistaken as a couple before. Diner waitresses or hotel managers. But it feels different. It feels like Dean’s wearing it like a neon sign around his neck to be perceived like this by Cesar, an actual, living, breathing homosexual man with a husband.
Is it that fucking obvious? Dean wants to ask in his sudden, near-panic. And he and Cas have talked about it. Almost talked about it. Alluded to something, but Dean can’t afford to think about it in more depth. He and Cas –
They can’t. They just can’t. It’s too complicated. Dean won’t risk ruining the good thing they’ve already fought so hard to get.
“No,” Dean says. “Cas doesn’t exactly work like that.”
“But you maybe wish he did?” Cesar guesses.
It’s bold. Doesn’t matter that he’s right, it still ticks Dean off. Or maybe it ticks Dean off because he’s right.
“So, Jesse,” Dean says pointedly. “He’s obviously got skin in the game. Why’s this case so important?”
“Jesse’s seen these things before,” Cesar moves with the change in subject as if he didn’t even notice it. Dean’s part annoyed and part grateful for his charity.
“Twenty-seven years ago?” Dean infers. “And you said he got into hunting when he was a kid?”
“It isn’t my story to tell,” Cesar says. “But suffice to say, Jesse won’t back down from this hunt. If we fail to put it to rest this time….” He trails off darkly.
“Yeah, well, there’s four of us now,” Dean reassures him. “We’ll smoke these sons of bitches.”
“It’ll eat him alive if we don’t,” Cesar says, and Dean feels the real weight behind his words. Cesar loves Jesse – really loves him. Dean wonders if people have ever been able to feel Dean’s love for someone else, just by listening to his voice.
Another chapter of this nonsense just dropped
I didn't even make you wait 3 months this time.

ok i know that you may not like destiel, but i promise you, as a fellow sam stan, the second half, especially the last couple chapters, of to become a man goes fucking wild for sam. it drives me feral even to this day. no spoilers tho.
when i was reading this fic, i would refer to to exist again because the interconnectivity is off the charts. the dialogue from the two fics are the same but the perspectives are different, so reading to exist again only or to become a man only is completely different experience off what is basically the same series. its like how arrested development's orginal formatting final season had all the different perspectives and jokes set up in each episode that didnt make sense until you watched the entire thing. and it is hilarious. the setup, which seem offhanded and weird pieces of dialogue in to exist again become key plot elements in to become a man. and deans perspective of magic is so different from sam's and cas. you just get a really good feel for how much of a freak sam is and how normal dean is in a world full of magic. it just adds another layer to world building.
and the fic addresses all of the issues i have about dean. it doesnt just wave a wand and make him unproblematic, but demenior makes dean work for it. he has character arc. he is not perfect at the end, but he is trying and that is what is important. and you also gotta to read to become a man just because of the whole cliff hanger for to exist again. once the to become a man has caught up with to exist again. i mean. the answers are definitely worth the wait.
i can tell you what specific chapters that are important for sam. i never reread the fic in its entirety but only to specific chapters that drive me, as a sam stan, insane. but its also the little moments between the major sam plot points that treat sam and deans relationship with such care and fucked-up-ness that i would recommend that you dont. you got to find the parts that drive you insane yourself
oh my god. i almost forgot about dem's characterization of purgatory. i dont want to spoil it, but it really expands on the wrongness of the leviathans and purgatory that supernatural never was able too.
and overarching themes. the overarching themes. its fucking beautiful and ties up everything so well. sam and dean have their own themes and arcs (which you can pretty much get from their story titles) that complement each other so well with the overarching message (the love it takes). it is wild. no it is well thought and planned.
warning: there is eldritch monster sex scenes in to become a man. you can skip it if you are not into it. there are warnings at the top of those chapters.
i could write essays about to exist again and to become a man. i could talk about them all day.
and it was such a joy reading it in real time. the theories and analyses that the readers made comment section for each chapter. the real time interactions with the author. it just made the experience so much better. and the music. oh the music that goes with this fic.
if i were you, i would reread to exist again whenever the timeline matches up with to become a man. it so worth it.
and the dem shares many of your cas/angel headcannons that are fully fleshed out in this fic.
oh and @demenior has little fics of the love it takes on their tumblr (this fic series is why i joined tumblr the first time around).
wow hello!!! it would be a mess to try and respond to each part of this individually but i read all of it closely and rlly appreciate the breakdown!!! i could rave about to exist again all day for the rest of time (the lorebuilding alone holy shit??? seriously its. im. its SO good.) and you make an excellent case for to become a man (congrats on ur lawboy coding) so clearly i will just have to reread the former and read the latter as soon as possible

DEAN REDDING X READER
From the naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Check my bio requests are open.
**
You smile at your boyfriend from across the kitchen. He was sulking on the couch, because, we all know. He has to act 'badass' and 'grumpy' all day. But the second you are both secluded in your room.
He has his arms wrapped around you, sometimes kissing your neck, sometimes cuddling you.
He was sulking on the couch as you made a sandwich. You make him one two.
As you walk over Michael has to say something, "Ooh, look who gets a sandwich. Must be, gasp, special," Dean groans and glares even more at Michael, if that is possible.
You were like a cross between Dean and Michael. You could glare like your life depended on it, but you could also joke like it to.
Your mom had been shot by your father, who then killed himself.
You and Dean had joined shortly within one another. You were only thirteen , the two of you bonded over family trauma.
And you both could easily think like a killer. You both hated it but, you couldn't help it.
you pass dean his sandwich and sit next to him he whispers a thanks and takes a bite.
You try yours, it's better than usual. The avocado is fresh.
"You think we could get a day pass?" You question.
"Why do you want a day pass," Agent Briggs sighs. Knowing you he assumed you would lie and then get arrested. It depends who you go with, Michael and you would both end up in jail, Sloane, Cassie, or Lia would never happen you weren't friendly with either girl, Dean was the only one who you wouldn't get arrested with.
"We haven't been on a date in months," Michael smiles at this.
"Someone's romantic," he exclaims.
"Saturday night. Curfew is two am," with that he leaves.
You smile and nudge Dean, who you see a ghost of smile on his lips, he quickly hides it with another bits of his sandwich.
"Where are you going to go?" Cassie asks.
"Fake IDs and a club," you suggest. "I have the stuff to make them,"
"No, absolutely not. There is a new place not far, a hotel restaurant I think, it has Italian," your weakness.
"Fine, nothing illegal," you relent.
"Not inviting me," Michael micks offended.
"Sorry I would much rather kiss Dean, Townshit," you say.
Michael is surprised at what you called him, "Very funny asshat,"
"Stop insulting my girlfriend," Dean warns. You smile at his over protectiveness.
"How the hell? She insulted me first," Michael exclaims.
"Well, I told you stop stop," Dean says. You both exit to your room.
As soon as you shut the door Dean starts smiling.
"Didn't know you could do that," you tease
He smiles as he kisses you, it's soft and needy; everything both of you need.
He slowly pushes you onto his bed as he kisses your neck, you know there will be hickeys in the morning.
He pulls away for a breath and you attack his neck, sucking hickeys along your way.
He lets out a soft moan and you hear Judd Hawkins.
You jump to your own bed, "What do you want Hawkins?"
He opens the door and eyes dean, on his phone in his own bed. And you reading an old copy of, Hunger Games.
"I heard something," Judd says as he leaves, with the door open.
You wink at dean who just gives you a look. You never played by the rules. Like ever.
**
"Ooh," Michael teases.
You were fixing your hair, Dean was almost ready and Lia was helping you.
"Shut up," you hiss as Lia dabs on more powder.
"Oh, god. Lias helping you? Well guess we aren't leaving today," Dean teases.
You grumble as she finishes, grabbing you purse and leaving with Dean.
"Two am, not a second later," Briggs warns.
Thank God all of dean's hickeys we're hide able with his shirt.
He opens the door to the SUV for you and you get in he starts the car and starts driving.
"Okay, so do you want it to be a surprise,"
"I hate surprises," you groan.
"Okay, fine. There is a hotel not far from here, I got us reservations at the restaurant below, and we have some time. I got us a room," he smiles at you.
"I have plans for the room," you sink and he groans.
"What, we haven't had sex, in weeks," you exclaim.
He smiles at your joke.
**
The date was wonderful, Italian food and now you were heading to your room.
Once inside dean softly pushes you onto the bed, "You had plans," he questions.
This was going to be a long night.
**
You carefully slip back into your dress and killer heels.
You have a slight limp, "In saying it was the heels,"
"Shit, it's already three," he says pointing to the clock.
You both rush home and find Lia, Michael, Cassie, and Sloane waiting for you.
"What was curfew," Michael teases. You see a disgusted smirk from Lia over your limping.
"So, what did you guys do," Cassie asks.
"I'm tired in the morning," you say as you drag a smirking Dean upstairs.
"How much trouble do you think we will be in?" You mock, the ones who had to wait up.
"Not much compared to the time you snuck out with Michael and got arrested," Dean comments.
"Rude, it's not my fault arson is illegal," you comment as you finish taking of your makeup, you skip if your heels and let your dress hit the floor.
You climb into bed next to your lover.
"Night baby," he says kissing you.
"Night, Redding," you say as you drift off.

HAPPY BARRICADE DAY!!!
I have absolutely 0 new content to share with my fellow revolutionaries to celebrate
So instead I offer you my rather long and rambling notes I made after watching the Les Mis tour in Manchester a couple of months ago
Quick warning; They're absolutely feral and incomprehensible
Pre:
• Cafe Rouge for a meal beforehand. Very French, definitely felt like I could organise a revolution in there. Set the mood very well
• Lime Bar for drinks. Less mood-setting, but I did get a martini so it was worth it
• MERCH! Got a tote bag and a keyring along with the programme because of course I did
Act 1:
• Look Down did not shy away from attacking people damn. Many dudes got punched multiple times each, special RIP to the guy who got whipped 30 seconds into the song
• Okay yeah no I see where the Earl Carpenter hype comes from. His Bishop is pretty dilf-y
• Dean just kept wandering aimlessly in Soliloquy, idk if it's intentional I just noticed it.
• KATIE!!! BELOVED
• Yeah the foreman is completely hateable, I despise him, get your hands off her, that's enough sir
• I Dreamed A Dream 🥺🥺🥺🥺 need I say more?
• Also Fantine got thrown onto the floor at least 5 times in the space of about 10 minutes like girl are you good do you need me to punch some bitches for you
• Lovely Ladies was fun all things considered
• Except for the foreman showing up and being Fantine's first customer (he looks her up and down and calls her "the virtuous Fantine" again, which made me want to punch him even more and then throw up)
• The Arrest was fine, there was just one small moment where Nic's timing was completely out and it just annoyed me lmao
• There was a really cute moment at the end of Who Am I where not-Valjean gets set free and there was a woman (presumably his wife) who just ran to him and he did the whole "pick up and spin her around" hug and it was adorable
• Confrontation my beloved, the chain choreography was wonderful (and kinky, I'm not complaining)
• Castle On A Cloud was adorable, nothing more to say
• RIP to the dude who got bullied for the entire first verse and chorus of Master Of The House it was very funny
• My gender is the multiple dandies in Master of the House also, there were several and I loved them all
• "BYE COURGETTE" *proceeds to make out with his wife on the stairs while laughing like a madman* ugh thenardier my beloathed funnyman <333
• The little meet-cute between Cosette and Marius was adorable, he bumps Into her and she just Falls On The Floor and stares up at him, it's so sweet
• GAVROCHE PLAYING POLICE OFFICER WITH THE BATON HE STOLE AKSJSIEKEKE BELOVED I CARE
• I love Eniolras' logic during Red and Black of "confiscate Grantaire's alcohol.... but give it back to him two seconds later so he can make a dick joke at Marius' expense"
• THE AMIS PLAYING PIGGY IN THE MIDDLE WITH GRANTAIRE AND HIS BOTTLE AKSNEKSNSNDKDNDND
• There was this moment of just. silence. after the Lamarque news came and everyone found a seat and took a second, it really hit me in the feels for some reason
• One Day More. Iconic. Wonderful. Funny little marching.
Act 2:
• The barricade reveal was fun, very dramatic I loved it
• CURSE LES MIS TUMBLR FOR INFORMING ME OF EARL'S BARRICADE CHARACTER, I KEPT WATCHING HIM
• On a related note, Earl made guarding Javert his Job And Business™️ and kept getting annoyed at anyone who went near him, especially Valjean, who looked like he got a death glare
• Eponine was glorious and wonderful and radiant and everything good in the world, her voice was incredible (kinda reminded me of Eva Noblezada) On My Own and Little Fall Of Rain were equal parts beautiful and heartbreaking
• Drink With Me was great with the added Enjoltaire bonus of E being the one to reach for R, and R resisting and moving away
• GAVROCHE AND GRANTAIRE RIGHTS OH MY GOD I LOVE THEM SO MUCH.
• After Drink With Me, Grantaire went to his corner to stew in his drunk loneliness and existential crisis, but Gavroche just ran over to him and gave him the most adorable "I don't care if you're twice my height, I'll hug your damn knees if I have to" hug and Grantaire was stroking his hair and being a protective bro, then they settled together for all of Bring Him Home 🥺🥺🥺
• Gav flipping off Javert, yes my feral child, get him, destroy him
• And to immediately destroy that image, Gav's death was absolutely tragic, as expected. He finished the little bit of Little People stood on a railing on the barricade and then gets shot, where he falls in Enjolras' arms. Grantaire realises what's happened and races to Enj, who just silently  places the body in his arms. R just sort of carried him to the corner of the stage, kept trying to shake him awake and stuff, and fucking collapsed, he was silently grieving over Gav through half of the battle.
• THEY ALSO SPOTLIGHTED EVERY GUY AS THEY DIED. THERE WAS NO MISSING WHO WAS GONE, THERE WAS FULL FOCUS ON THEM THANKS TO THE LIGHTING.AND THEY WERE ALL GOING FOR IT ACTING-WISE, YALL WERE SHOUTING EACH OTHERS NAMES AND CRYING OUT, THEY WERE NOT PLAYING AROUND
• Enj climbs a railing similar to Gav then falls backwards behind the barricade when he's shot, Grantaire sees it and climbs up enough to be visible so they can shoot him. It was devastating.
• Turning was so haunting man. It was also kinda wholesome in that some of the women were clearly upper class while some definitely weren't, but they all comforted each other and left together
• Empty Chairs fucking DESTROYED ME HOLY SHIT! THEY ALL BLEW OUT THE CANDLES TOGETHER AND WALKED OFFSTAGE, BUT ENJOLRAS STAYED FOR A SECOND AND PUT HIS HAND TO HIS HEART BEFORE LEAVING UGH IT WAS THE MOMENT THAT PUSHED ME TO THE VERGE OF TEARS
• In order to distract me from this, I paid much more attention to the ensemble than I should have during the wedding because then I could pretend that yeah that's definitely just Grantaire with a ponytail dancing with Cosette, everyone's alive and well and doing just fine, nobody's dead (Applying the Hamilton logic of ponytail=new character is out of the question here boys, it's matter of my sanity being at stake, ponytail=same character they're all okay and the National Guard just has stormtrooper level aim)
• "This one's a queer, but what can you do?" Said one proceeds to do the most gloriously homosexual laugh, followed by The Gay Run™️ across stage, beautiful
• Earl's footman character looked like he needed a raise honestly, I don't think he's getting paid enough to deal with these idiots
• I had to resist the urge to cheer when Marius punched Thenardier. Eponine would be so proud of him <3
• The Bishop hugging Valjean when he goes to heaven, we love to see the dilf solidarity in this house

Ash x Eiji rec list stories that have an ensemble cast element
Favorite Ash x Eiji rec fics but the other important characters don’t get shafted or reduced.

The Avengers are assigned to protect Ash Lynx until he testifies at the trial of arrested Club Cod members.
Why you should check it out- action, suspense and it gives all of the cast even cannon minor characters time to shine. The stakes are high and the characterization makes this feel very much like A Banana Fish sequel. The themes of child abuse, trauma kids feeling unsafe and the corruption of government organization are still relevant.
Paper Boats by Adreaming Songbird https://archiveofourown.org/works/19394629/chapters/46152421
Eiji becomes a hostage of the Lee family and gets pulled into a political plot and reunites with childhood friend and knight Ash Lynx.
Why you should check it out- a really cool political revenge plot and Eiji’s dynamics with Yut Lung, Shorter and Sing are just as strong and well developed as his romantic relationship with Ash.
Giving up the Gun by jason dean https://archiveofourown.org/works/24712858/chapters/59732089
Honestly Jason dean in general writes very good Banana Fish fics about how difficult it is to move on from the past. I’d recommend all of them this one is only five chapters because its in its early stages but those few chapters paint a compelling situation.
Between Grief and High Delight by Val Creative https://archiveofourown.org/works/23844880/chapters/57304774
Ash is Dino’s son who keeps having strange dreams
Why you should check it out- Dino is used well as a villain and even more of a threat then cannon. His abusive relationship with Ash is the core of the story. Its full of suspense and has an almost surreal feel to it as if Ash himself doesn’t know what’s real and what isn’t.
In the Light i Saw You by ohrange https://archiveofourown.org/works/18751507/chapters/44482132
Banana Fish set in the modeling industry
Why you should check it out- It takes the elements of Banana fish and expands on them in a more gritty realistic way while still keeping some of the more exaggerated elements. Also the character relationships are beautifully written and Sing and Yut Lung’s and Ash and Eiji’s dynamics arch’s are a lot more messy and complicated here but end in a very satisfying way.
Anything Seem’s possible with you by my side by Vasser https://archiveofourown.org/works/21935386/chapters/52353193
Eiji is an Omega who is pressured into sex with Arthur then abandoned when he gets pregnant
Why you should check it out- I’m not very big on Alpha Omega fics but this one wasn’t bad due to an examination of how Yut Lung and Eiji are affected by the world and pressures of being second class citizens without losing any of their cannon characterization even descent characters who don’t like the system like Ash and Eiji’s father are revealed to still be affected by the social class structure and have their biases about omega’s and the author put a lot of work into this. So if you like Omega fics and enjoy stories about prejudice and how it shapes societies. I would recommend you give this one a read.
At Chang dai Orphanage by Nikophi
https://archiveofourown.org/works/23909887/chapters/57489463
An Au where Eiji Shorter, and Nadia take care of an orphaned kids Yut Lung, Sing, Skip are there changes and due to some mafia problems. They end up running into Ash and nursing him back to health.
Why you should check it out? Much like Banana fish this fic balances both the elements of darkly unsettling situations and humor. Eiji has very different relationships with Yut and Sing due to them being aged down but it really works. Sing and Skip get a lot more fleshed out as characters and there is an overall bigger focus on the children left behind by society and protecting them. The jokes driven from character relationships are actually quite witty and there is an overall very solid group dynamic.
This tender gravity by angeldescendant https://archiveofourown.org/works/15724065/chapters/36553836
Ash and Eiji meet because they switch bodies its basically a your name fusion story but with its own spin.
Why you should check it out? This fic is lighter then a lot of the others on this list focusing more on healing and coming to terms with painful and hard pasts. Also Eiji and Ash inhabiting each other’s lives and the confusion that comes with this is just hilarious. Overall it really does a good job at fleshing out Eiji’s home town background and how he and his sister cope with the problems in their own lives and how this affects both how Ash sees him and others. Its just very atmospheric, it made me laugh, cry and I was just blown away by how much was done with such a simple premise.
The one with the zombies by Turnups
Basically Ash and Eiji fighting zombies with his gang because there was an outbreak in New York.
Why you should check this out? There’s a lot of action and cool kick ass suspense moments. It builds up their relationship in a really sweet way and has Ash deal with the problem known as Dino Golzine in a much more satisfying way. If Ash and Eiji being cute with each other and killing Zombies sounds like your cup of tea. I’d highly recommend this one.
Before our Spring by JessKyuCriss https://archiveofourown.org/works/18350510/chapters/43445960
Basically Eiji and Ash are teachers who fall in love and Ash's past brings some trouble.
Why you should check it out the style of emails and newspapers being used to tell the story is an interesting choice and while its mostly fluff its very, very humorous fluff and everyone’s letters and emails to each other are full of character, and snarky wit. So if you want something with maybe a little darkness but is overall cozy, fun and just plain adorable this is something you’d enjoy.
Dusk till Dawn by equintoctial https://archiveofourown.org/works/17403557/chapters/40963847
Based on Howls Moving Castle
Why you should check it out its a great fairy tale full of action, magic, drama, romance. It has great character dynamics and even if you know the story of Howl's castle it really does its own thing with the concept and characters. It also still has one of the best Yut Lung redemption arks, i’ve seen in a Banana Fish fic.
The Sweetest Sounds by Wintergrew https://archiveofourown.org/works/16073117/chapters/37530755
Summary Ash x Eiji version of the Cinderella story with the more disturbing Banana Fish elements
Why you should check it out?
This is one of the better fairy tale Banana fish takes in my opinion its not perfect but it does do some interesting things with the Cinderella Tale and it does a good job of blending the elements from both stories into a cocktail that really works. Also the ending is way more satisfying then cannon. So if you like Banana fish and Cinderella, i’d give it a try.
To Hell and Back by 2space lesbo1 https://archiveofourown.org/works/18830860
Ash is an officer in world war two who falls in love with Eiji who’s a prisoner of war.
Why you should check it out, this is one of the only Banana Fish fics i’ve seen that explores racism from a lot of different angles from the individual and even institutional level. It doesn’t pull any punches when talking about its subject matter. If you like pieces that are thoughtful and well written. I’d suggest this one in a heartbeat.
Eden's Apple by Hamliet https://archiveofourown.org/works/17396678/chapters/40946339
Ash and co in a boarding school run by abusive creeps and team up to take down their principal.
Why you should check it out, Hamliet is a great author and honestly i'd recommend all her Banana fish fics she understands the characters and writes all their dynamics very well and she's very big on redemption and character happiness while not shying away from the more disturbing elements of the Banana Fish universe.

One thing I really miss in later seasons is all those little scenes that showed how good communication Sam and Dean have when it comes to hunts (because we all know it’s terrible any other time).
All the code words, little rules, and inside jokes. “Funky town” meaning “someone’s got a gun on me” or “Poughkeepsie” being “drop everything and run.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But the best example is probably the episode 2x07, The Usual Suspects. I absolutely love this episode precisely for showing us how great of a team the Winchesters are. First of all, they seem oddly casual about getting arrested (and, in case of Dean, facing the death penalty). They’re focused on the case, Dean goes even as far as to make jokes and pissing off some police officers. But the thing that’s absolutely fucking impressive is that their fake stories told to the cops match perfectly. They didn’t expect to be arrested and they didn’t have time to talk it through, but they know each other so well that they knew what the other one would say.
Tumblr media
And then we get these little gems:
Detective Ballard after she finds Dean’s note to Sam, where he signed himself as McQueen: “Hilts is Steve McQueen’s character in The Great Escape.”
Dean to the same detective after she sees the ghost the brothers are hunting: “Go to the first motel listed in the yellow pages. Look for Jim Rockford, it’s how we find each other when we’re separated.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not only does it show that the brothers have a contingency plan for almost any situation, it also proves how serious they are about their cases. Dean knows that the cop he’s talking to may just arrest Sam, but he’s ready to risk it and not just because he knows she needs help and trusts she won’t do it. He knows that even if Sam does get arrested again, they will figure something out anyway.
These small details were important in the earlier seasons to establish the dynamic between the brothers. Later we all knew they’re good at what they do, so I guess there was no need to keep showing these things. But man do I miss these scenes!

J2 Gold Panel Dallascon 2022
Dallascon came and went, and it brought the first j2 panels of the year!
The panel starts with Jared sharing that his, and Jensen’s parents were originally going to be in Van for the filming of the finale but couldn’t because of the pandemic. They’re kind of making up for that this con, their parents were there and both set of parents and the boys had dinner together the previous night, that is so sweet 🥰
The fan who asks the first question had done a photo op the previous day with Jensen were she arrests him which makes Jared joke and bring up the time that Jensen put him in the orange suit after his arrest, and they joke a bit- I know how this fucking fandom is so I know this is gonna get some mixed reactions but personally it makes me happy that Jared can joke about it and be casual about it. Anyways that first question was about a Stephen Amell cutout. This same fan at a previous con had done a Jensen photo op with a Stephen Amell cutout as a prop and she wanted to know if Jensen send him the pic; Jensen said yes, and that in reply Stephen send him back a pic of a cutout of Jensen. And Jared says that something Stephen does is he'll randomly send him a pic sometimes of himself holding a picture of Jared saying 'well i saw you today' and that's like his way of catching up. I can't help but feel that now Stephen Amell is going to be handed a lot more pictures of Jared 😂
Then they were asked, which one of them is more like their character and what did they bring of themselve to their character? Jensen says there are a lot of similarities between him and Dean that overtime as the show grew and he grew as a person the lines blurred in terms of personality between him and Dean. That the characters are a part of them and what was on screen was him exaggerating a piece of his personality not him pretending to be someone different.
Jared echoes, says that he’s a silly dude but when he gets into work mode he's like Sam, he becomes laser focused. And that Jensen is funny and friendly but when shit's gonna go down he's like Dean. x
Would they consider working on an international project like Squid Game? If yes, what country would they like to work in? Jared answers yes, that it would be amazing he jokes that they technically did work in an international project for 15 and a half years because they're from Texas and worked in Canada. He also says if it's a project they're excited for and they're free he'll go wherever just send him the ticket and he'll get on a plane. Jensen thinks that due to their family situation with the kids and such they are a little bit more tethered to where they can go and have to be more thoughtful about how far away a location is and how long they'd be away; talks about how his time in Toronto was more difficult than he anticipated because when he signed up for the role he thought there would be a handle on the pandemic by the time he had to film so he thought he'd be able to travel back and forth. Says that if he had known that in advance he probably would have sat down and given accepting the role some more serious thought.
Also, Jared went into a little non sequitur about his kids passports and the way he said it was "our kids were all born in Seattle" not "my kids" "our kids" just leaving that there do whatever you want with it x
Gonna preface this by saying I hate questions like the fourth one but a lady, whose birthday is also in March, asked if they could go get drinks together for their birthday. Questions like these make me uncomfy especially when asked in front of a crowd- it's like a proposal at an event don't do that shit. But the boys handle it like the pro's they are, Jared says if she's ever in Austin there's a place Family Business brewery - he also shares he was gonna hang out there a bit on Thursday night after filming cause Walker films close to the location but he couldn't cause his kids were freaking out and he had to watch the new episode (I swear when talking about his plans to visit FBBC it sounds like he said he was planning to text Jensen). Jensen tells the fan he doesn't know where she's going to be on her birthday but he's pretty sure he knows where he'll be on his which is on set next to Jared, at which point Jared all cutely does some fist pumps, but that he'll have a beer for her. x
They are asked, once again, if they are content with the ending of the show. They are, Jensen says what he has before that he didn't think Dean dying was going to result in some sort of finale but that after talking to Kripke he got a new perspective. Jared also tought it would be Sam dying, he then says pretty much what he has said before that he loves the realism of living this great life and it could all end in one moment, and says that the ending has kept him thinking. x
And the final question was: After 15 years and 320 lessons of why not to keep secrets. How do they feel about their characters never learning that it’s bad to keep secrets? I feel like this was a loaded question and based on their answers I think the boys took it as one too; Jared quickly jumps in and says that he thinks it's a great lesson, that it's one everybody has probably dealt with that he thinks it's something they all deal with; that moment when you think “oh i’m not gonna bother him with this” and then you fnd out later a. it’s not gonna be a bother to them and b. you would have been better off if you just mentioned it cause they can’t read your mind.
That if you find that person or people in your life where you can tell them everything and know that there might be situations where they're like "hey man that sucks, that hurts my feelings, I still love the shit out of you but here’s what we can do moving forward"
Then Jensen starts to say that you gotta appreciate that there's drama in secrets, and I swear to God you can see it, you can see Jared debate wether to open his mouth or not- he turns to Jensen and says "I don't if you don't tell me" listen I'm so glad they've reached this point were they can joke about it but that man is gonna single handedly ensure Jensen never fucks up again 😅
Then they joke around some more because the fan says to save the drama for the soap opera so Jared says "as we all go through the Days of Our Lives" and then Jensen goes "this all a House of Wax that could melt in a New York Minute" 😂
Thus marks the first panel of 2022; I'll be honest it flew by even for a Gold panel it didn't feel like 30mins. But there were some interesting moments and if you wanna check out the full thing you can do so through the link below:

Random WSS (2021) Thoughts
I wish I had seen it in theaters, but I didn't, and I've been too busy with school to watch it on Disney+ until now. Here are thoughts written right after watching, during a skim-rewatch, and after watching the behind the scenes and some youtube videos. Full spoilers for this and the 1961 version, please go watch one/both!
Level 1
I really liked it! It didn’t try to change too much and kept the theatrical elements and heart and soul of the story. Loved the recast of Rita Moreno, the 1961 film's Anita, as the shopkeeper
Besides that, the main changes I noticed included watching Chino get arrested at the end (the last shot of the original was of several gang members from both sides watching Maria walk away)
ALSO Maria sang “tonight” instead of “somewhere" as Tony died :(
But I am glad they kept her line “how many can I kill and still have one bullet left for me?” Gets me every time
It seemed like they kept most of the dialogue. I *appreciated* “I forget why I called you”/”Then I’ll stay until you remember.”
When they say “womb to tomb,” instead of replying “birth to earth” they say “sperm to worm.” It’s weird, but I'll allow it because it implies life begins at conception (I'm half joking)
They also added to the main characters which was really nice! In the ‘61 film, Tony’s distance from the Jets was weak and unexplained. This time it’s a core part of his motivation and identity. He almost beat someone to death, and rethought his life while imprisoned, deciding to make something of himself. But he still sees Riff’s perspective, which makes for a thought-provoking exchange between him and Maria. (Riff has no reason to live T_T)
Bernardo is a boxer and we get to see the gym in several scenes
Chino isn’t one of the Sharks, and looks very much like Dean Cain’s Clark Kent. (he was so sweet and I think Maria did him dirty, but then again I don’t understand what he asked her at the dance when she turned back to Tony)
They picked the perfect actor for Baby John and I have no idea where he came from! No other film credits on imdb anyway
I was also won over by all the other casting choices. I was really glad they chose actual Latinx actors, who I unfortunately don’t know, but I was blown away by their performances
Level 2
I love that there’s minimal talking in the intro, as it should be
The Jets entering Shark territory to paint over their Puerto Rican flag mural makes so much more sense than the two gangs just wandering around
THEY PIERCED BABY JOHN’S EAR WITH A NAIL
And then Riff told him “it’ll scar” my heart
Is it “Ice” who looks like Ezra Miller?
The first time I saw Maria and Tony's dance/kiss scene, I did NOT think it was romantic. I was like MaRIa you’re going behind the BLEACHERS with this stranger, what are you THINKing- but I guess that’s part of the story. It’s an adaptation of Romeo & Juliet, faithful to the depiction of them as adolescents (although they’re both legally adults here) who are falling in “love” too quickly- and this is Maria’s first time dancing. She wanted to have a new, exciting experience as a young adult, shown by asking for color on her white dress and wearing lipstick.
The lighting in this movie is so good
I think it’s cute that she starts the dance and he is initially confused before joining her
Did she start to run away, and then he pulls her back, in the original? (no) Idk how I feel about that
I’m glad they speak so much Spanish, but I’m kinda disappointed by how little I understand of it (I took classes for years)
Needing to practice is a nice excuse for them to speak English when they’re all native Spanish speakers. Better than no explanation at all.
Maria isn’t dumb. She’s her own woman who has a job, pays rent, and talks about going to college. She respects her brother when he respects her.
When they’re getting “married,” he says “even death can’t part us now” and she says “only death can part us now.” foreshadowing
I like the “fight” they added when Tony finds out Riff bought a gun. It’s just as good a place to include “cool” than after the rumble, although I’m glad we got to see Jets & Sharks hiding after that.
I have a problem with the way the knives appeared. I rewatched it three times before I understood what happened. The first one audibly slides across the floor, so Bernardo turns around and whips out his own. I thought they forgot/decided not to include a cut of him picking it up off the ground, but now I realize he had his own, and the first one is then tossed to Riff.
Anita is more sympathetic, shown identifying Bernardo’s body
The girls with the Jets (names?) are now on Anita’s side during her assault, and Valentina is there to rebuke the boys
What did they say to Maria to get her to leave Tony’s body? I have to wonder if some of these lines are too quiet or quick for even Spanish speakers to catch.
Jets and Sharks, European Americans and Puerto Rican Americans, work together to carry him into the drugstore. The music is almost hopeful.
BUT with this new ending shot, Chino being arrested by police we know are corrupt/racist, I'm conflicted.
Level 3
Both Moreno and Spielberg refer to this new movie as a re-imagining, not a remake. I think that Disney could learn from this approach. If you're trying to replace a movie, it won't work.
“We never attempted to remake the ‘61 film, we took all our inspiration based on the original source material which was the 1957 Broadway musical.” That's why "Pretty" is after the rumble, which personally I disagree with
David Alvarez, Bernardo, hadn’t been acting for years but somebody remembered that he won a Tony at 15(?)
I DID know the girl who plays Anita, she was The Bullet in Hamilton! I'm so happy to see her career growing.
Showing the demolition of the neighborhood was kinda new
Mike Faist is my new celebrity crush
I didn’t know the singing was dubbed in the ‘61 film. Natalie Wood wanted to sing the part and they acted like they'd let her, but in the end they went with recordings from Marni Nixon. In this new one, everyone sung themselves, and they did some songs “live.”
Spielberg and Cushner(?) decided not to add subtitles for the Spanish parts “out of respect for the language, it’s our second language in this country.” That’s a nice sentiment, but they forgot that subtitles aren’t just for people who don’t understand the language being spoken, they’re also for the deaf and hard of hearing!! That makes me mad.
After thinking about it, I realized they’re saying they wouldn’t put english subtitles into the movie itself when spanish is being spoken. I agree with that. But I wish I could get the translation by turning on the english subtitles, because the spanish subtitles aren’t accurate (and if they were I still wouldn’t know most of it.)
Time to watch Newsies I guess

I wanted to write some aro!Drarry so, here's a fic outline ♥️ thanks to @glitteringvoids for the sensitivity read!
After the war, Harry starts Auror training, and Draco starts his house arrest, but both soon realise life is basically intolerable.
Harry takes an indefinite sabbatical from training and finds a Mind Healer (with the help of Hermione), and Draco also gets a Mind Healer and uses his copious spare time to work on himself
Harry soon realises the Auror’s aren’t for him, but doesn’t know what he wants to do, so repairs Grimmauld Place and focuses on recovering from trauma.
Initially, things are okay for him; Ron and Hermione drop by all the time, Neville, Luna, and Ginny all come over regularly for meals and to help with the house, Seamus and Dean invite him to pub nights, the Weasley twins bring by prototypes for him to test, and all his weekends are spent at The Burrow.
But slowly, things change.
Ron and Hermione get pregnant. Ginny focuses more on Quidditch. Neville and Luna often tour with her, going off to find odd creatures and plants while she trains. And though they still pop round, and he’s still welcome to talk to them or even go with them on their travels, it just becomes more and more apparent that he doesn’t quite belong.
There’s in-jokes he doesn’t get. Touches he’s not blessed with. Glances and smiles that aren’t shared with him.
And it just makes him ache.
It’s not that he wants a partner like that—he doesn’t. It’s just that every time he sees them, he’s reminded he’s… Different. And after an entire lifetime of being different, wouldn’t it be lovely to just be normal, for once?
Plus, even though his friends know he doesn’t want a partner and they’re happy for him, he still sees the way they look at him sometimes, and hears the way they talk to him. As though they worry. As though they think something’s missing. As though they still don’t always believe he can be happy alone.
But he is.
He just… wants to be someone’s priority every once in a while.
Have someone he knows he can call and arrange a movie night with easily, without having to organise babysitters, or check times of portkeys, or hear about how they have to go help the in-laws with something. And he really, really just wants to feel like he can ask for a hug every now and again—or even a sleepover—without being the third-wheel.
Is that so hard?
One day, he’s moseying through Diagon Alley looking for a present for Hermione for her birthday when a familiar voice catches his ear, enquiring about a job in the shop, and lays eyes on none other than Draco Malfoy for the first time in years.
The manager of the store barely glances at Draco, and when he does, it’s with disgust, and though Draco obviously looks frustrated, he’s nowhere near as mad as Harry expected and simply sighs, turning to leave.
But almost walks straight into Harry.
For a moment, they both stare at each other, before, for some reason, Harry says that Fortescue’s has got a new flavour of ice cream, and Draco’s stomach rumbles, so they walk down together.
It’s awkward and silent for a while, but then Harry kind of blurts out ‘How are things?’ and Draco snorts, insulting him for being so eloquent, and before they know it, somehow, they’re bantering and insulting each other like old friends.
Draco tells Harry about how he’s finished House Arrest but it doesn’t feel much different because all of his friends live miles away—some of them on different continents—and Harry catches him up on everything he’s missed with the rest of the Hogwarts lot and on his life.
And somehow, almost two hours pass with them just talking.
And it was easy. And fun.
When Harry finally, regretfully says he needs to go, Draco asks if he wants to meet up again for another ice cream, and instantly Harry accepts.
They go for ice cream again the next week. Then coffee two weeks after that. And then for a takeaway a week later. And slowly, they go from meeting up once every two weeks, to at least twice a week. Harry introduces Draco to the cinema, Muggle London and bars, and Draco invites Harry to the fields near the Manor for seekers games and baking sessions.
And for once, neither of them feels quite so alone.
Neither mention that they were lonely before this. Neither of them mention the fact they don’t want a relationship. And neither even dare think about the fact that they’re terrified one of them is going to kiss them or ask them on a proper date.
But both notice how the other one seems less lonely, and all of their friends notice they’re happier.
Soon, colder weather draws in, and a few times a week they end up in Grimmauld where there’s less parents and fewer bad memories, watching films on Harry’s TV, or just chatting for hours.
Draco—always the most touchy-feely and the most bratty about it—is the first to place his feet in Harry’s lap, and when he does, the look of terror on Harry’s face is enough for the boys to finally admit they don’t want it to go any further than a long hug or sleepover at times.
The relief both of them feel knowing there will never be any other expectations is so great, neither of them can stop smiling for hours afterwards.
From then on, every time the Disney movie turns scary, Draco wastes no time demanding a blanket and a protector, and Harry never fails to pull him closer with a laugh, finally happy he has someone to cuddle with—and if he often chooses Disney movies he knows will make Draco freak out a bit, that’s between him and the Disney movie.
(Draco, of course, knows Harry’s game and doesn’t care one bit)
Together, the pair finally get the relationship they’ve always wanted; friendship.
They meet up a couple of nights a week, both preferring their own company or that of their friends on other nights, and enjoy hanging out together with no expectation other than a good time, a nice meal, and a decent hug when they’re in the mood.
Finally, they have someone to go on holiday with, a ‘date’ to attend conventions that demand a plus one (or want one for moral support), and they have someone they can spend Valentine’s day with if they want to. And on the days they do spend Valentine’s together, they celebrate their friendship with a good bottle of Prosecco, Harry’s best cooking, Draco’s best baking, and a good round of Exploding Snap or one of their favourite movies.
And life is good.

Season 4 epi 8
So confused.
Did Rio want Beth to turn him in? So that SS would believe anything she tells them?
When Rio asks Beth at the picnic table who is more fun him or the van people she acts like she despises him. Did she? Because when she gets home and tells Dean she really is not happy about his arrest.
I think it's open to interpretation, but no, I don't think so.
I think Rio was both surprised and wounded by her turning him in, but ended up finding a silver lining to the situation that he chose to take advantage of, especially because at that point he's pretty clearly in love with her.
And I'm so curious that that's your read of the picnic table scene, anon! I don't interpret her expression in that scene as her despising him at all – I think she's frustrated at him making a joke out of the fact that he'd threatened her the previous morning, and also that she's starting to disassociate and compartmentalise in that way we've seen her do for four seasons. She knows what's about to happen, and she needs to create emotional distance for what she's preparing herself to see, and like you said, once we see her at home, we do see the impact that it's had on her.
Beth's a character who wears mask atop of mask atop of mask, and I think at that picnic table scene, we were seeing her put another on to get through the moment. Holding onto her anger and previous hurts was a way for her to do that.
