So I watched the last season of the owl house👀 and I have to say I really loved this show so much and it was really sad😭 and so emotional to see how it ended, this show will definitely be one of the Memorable Shows we have ever watched! along with gravity falls and Amphibia🥳 and I really enjoyed watching this series one last time, So I quickly managed to draw Fanart of Good witch Luz in her titan form💜 and along with Eda, king collector, Raine and King’s dad,(somehow he reminds me of Sans🫢 and also added some small Bat like wings for Luz🦇) i’m glad I got to draw these characters again and I’m really going to miss The Owl House so much!🥺 Thank you Dana for creating such a wonderful show! glad I got to watch the entire series, Hope you guys like my drawing 🙌🏼💜🖤✨

your posts about English folk culture being treated as esoteric within England reminded me of a conversation I had with my dad relatively recently. I was complaining about how much I hated doing scottish country dancing in P.E every year in school and he, having grown up in London, mentioned that he never did any kind of folk dancing in school and it really surprised me.

Having an Irish family and growing up in Scotland I just assumed that folk culture would be a big part of national identity in England because it def is in Ireland and scotland. I mean I grew up in the city and I went to a Catholic school where a lot of pupils didn't come from Scottish backgrounds so I'm sure my experience would be different from somebody who grew up in a smaller town or a rural area, but my school still dragged out the girls who could sword dance every year on burns day y'know

Also now I'm wracking my brain trying to remember all the English folk songs I know and realising that it's comparatively few next to the hoard of Scottish, Irish and American folk songs I've accrued over the past 2 decades. That's definitely partially just due to being connected to the cultures those songs come from and that American folk songs are generally quite a bit younger than the scottish & Irish ones, but it's still not something I've ever really thought about

yeah absolutely. it's something england -- and probably urban england and london especially -- has really lost touch with. a lot of my friends and colleagues are irish, and when the topic of things like irish dance comes up, it's always like "oh yeah i did a bit of that as a kid, everyone did" or "yeah i learned the whistle, obviously, but i stopped when i was eight" -- but there'd be no obviously about that here (even when people learn the recorder at school, it's not often trad tunes they're learning to play!)

i don't know if this is to do with the proportion of the population that's urban vs rural in england compared to ireland or scotland (not sure where wales is at with this, they have a strong song tradition but i don't know much about the welsh equiv of trad dance music nor tbh enough about the song tradition to say anything meaningful on the topic), or if it's a "survival of trad culture to spite oppressive dominant cultures" thing so england lost it due to lack of need to defend it, or if it's predominantly a class issue (but that wouldn't wholly explain schools/the national curriculum, particularly at primary level)... i think there's a lot of factors at work

but it's something i do notice because i spend time in those irish-dominated spaces where the attitude towards trad music and dance is so different. but then those are also often irish language communities, so they're specifically irish communities that are interested in their cultural heritage, and maybe that's not representative of the whole country. still, it feels like even people who aren't interested and haven't carried that interest through to adulthood were exposed to it in childhood in a way that many english people weren't because our equivalent traditions have been relegated to this very niche, marginalised (and potentially very rural) status

#sometimes i think i've learned an english folk song but then it turns out it's scottish #it just got written down by an english song collector who got rid of a lot of the more distinctively scottish features #RIP #if i start thinking about how little i know about welsh traditions #i'll get sad again about not knowing any of my dad's family except his brother #a lot of his family was from rhosymedre and llangollen and places like that #i've never even been there although i've been to other parts of wales #i hope to change that this year though. not for Heritage™ reasons but that's a bonus side effect i guess #i need to take a ferry across to ireland so i gotta go to north wales anyway so might as well make a party of it #answered #anonymous #english folk traditions

i feel like sometimes we dont give enough attention to toh having FOUR TRANS CHARACTERS. FOUR. thats INSANE? and they all present differently, are all different ages, and ALL of their pronouns are respected. holyy shit. getting a character of color whos middle aged and they/them, a teenager that doesnt bind and looks feminine and is STILL they/them and respected as such, a little boyish child god with he/they pronouns, a chill dad whos heavily implied to be bigender, ITS AMAZING!! they dont even fall into the pit of "only aliens are nonbinary" BECAUSE they made raine, an average witch, nonbinary, and made masha, a normal teenage human, nonbinary too. whenever i think about it too long i explode of happiness. thank you so much toh

Was rewatching a cutscene from Diablo 4 and *man* am I still disappointed with what they've done... I really enjoyed the art direction, the story (Give me any story centered on motherhood/evil mother who loves you in a fucked up way and I genuinely eat that up, yum yum - Lillith unironically best demon in that franchise), the soundtrack and the honestly up until endgame the gameloop was fine.

I gave an honest effort to endgame (I think i got to level 80 something?) but it just got less and less fun with the constant nerfs....I Loved Diablo 3 endgame because it was fun to just make bonkers builds and speedrun the rifts, and their decisions (greedy) to nerf enemy density/build dmg/drops is just...man. What squandered potential....Diablo was never about being balanced it was about what bullshit you can break in endgame to get revenge on that second boss that was spanking you in the beginning of the game (Duriel)

I will say I haven't touched D4 since S1 so if that's changed lmk!

I hope that this follows the redemption path of Diablo 3 & yeah I'm a sucker who'll buy the DLC because Diablo is a franchise near and dear to my heart, but I just get sad at how they massacre it...please...I believe in you....make DLC good...Reaper of Souls was good...please

Kai is actually good with kids- but he has no capacity to tolerate temper tantrums, screaming, or any other kind of nonsense. If a child in his vicinity starts acting out, he doesn't have to yell or even make a sound. All he has to do is look at them like this:

Today I’ve been looking through my old dolls in honour of the Barbie trailer, and I came upon these two that have always been kind of intriguing to me.

They both have Mattel stamps on the back, but something in their faces and clothes have always put them apart from my other, “generic” dolls. I’ve been looking around online and haven’t really found any that look similar. Does anyone know if they’re from a certain line or collection?

King’s Dad was a Collector Theory

Going off of tonight's episode, we were given murals of events that happened in the past, similar to how we were told of Caleb’s past through murals as well.

Though this time, the murals depicted events that occurred during the Collector’s time. I’ve organized them in the timeline that I see best fits the story and came to the realization that we’ve seen a similar scenario play out with another character’s past.

According to the mural above, in the beginning, there were four original Collectors that were tasked with observing and preserving objects throughout the galaxy. And if anyone opposed, the Collectors would eradicate them. Despite this, all Collectors are seen to have the signature expression of joy, they’re always seen looking happy doing what they do. Eventually, a fifth collector is born (the purple one who we can assume is the Collector we see in the show) and he is seen being happily welcomed by the other Collectors.

Then we move on to the next mural above. The most interesting mural. It can be read in so many ways. Yet it’s the mural that I think reveals the true origins of King’s father. As I interpreted it, the mural depicts one of the Collectors discovering a skull and placing it on his head... then he’s seen becoming a titan. Notice the eyes. His yellow eyes are noticeably the only feature that remain the same, indicating that this is the same Collector that placed the skull on his head.

You may believe that the mural shows two different Collectors and a Titan but that is not true. Because we have the next mural below.

The mural above shows the exact same Titan/Collector with his yellow eyes. And next to him we see what a REAL Titan actually looked like. Notice that real Titans had RED eyes. The eyes aren't the only noticeable distinction, however. REAL Titans seem to have had a very skeleton-like body with bat wings. The Collector that became a Titan is vastly different. He still holds his yellow eyes but now has a blue body of fur and no wings.

Another thing to notice is that the mural above shows a battle between the yellow-eyed Titan and the red-eyed Titans. We know this battle well. It was the battle where King (as an egg) hears his father scream for him in a roar. And what can be seen in the mural? An egg. This is very much the battle that King hears, where his father can be heard fighting for him. And judging from where King’s egg is located in the mural, it seems that he was taken from his father.

His father being the yellow-eyed Titan that we now know came to be after a Collector was seen placing a skull on his head.

This Titan was never seen again after this battle.

We move on to the next image above. Where the other remaining three Collectors (along with the new purple one) have located a certain planet.

But one Collector is missing.

And the Collectors look eager... as if they at last found who they were searching for on this very planet.

They had found the location of their missing brother.

The planet the remaining Collectors had arrived on... was none other than where the Boiling Isles is.

And, while in the beginning they all looked so excited to have finally found this planet... now they looked enraged. The mural above clearly showing the remaining three Collectors long losing their signature joyful expressions. They’re not happy with what they discovered on that planet.

Notice that our purple Collector is also missing. And the flames at the Titan’s feet is now purple, too. Seems like purple Collector was sent in first to find their missing brother, and when he too didn't return, that’s when the three finally all stepped in to see why now two of their brothers hadn't returned from this planet.

Only to be met with the discovery that their long lost missing brother... is now gone. And their purple youngest one is nowhere to be found. And the only ones remaining are the real Titans who had won that battle against the yellow-eyed Titan. And those Titans now looked terrified.

What had happened on this planet was obvious to the Collectors: the Titans had killed their brothers. And, in anger, they:

Collectors are known to eradicate those who oppose. Destroying is something that is also in their job description. They are very capable of killing. And this seems to be the fate that all Titans fell into when the three remaining Collectors arrived on the Boiling Isles and discovered the fate of their missing brothers.

So... what happened?

In short, a Collector fell in love with the Titan’s world. So much so, that he gave up on who he was supposed to be: a Collector. And chose to live as a Titan... and even had a Titan baby. A baby we now know as King.

A story exactly similar to someone else’s in the show: Caleb’s.

Caleb was also a someone who was different. He was a human. But he fell in love with the Witch’s world. He gave up on his life in the human world and chose to live as a witch... and even had a baby with one.

Two men who chose to forget their old lives to continue living in a new world that they had fallen in love with.

And they both paid the price in blood.

Speaking of blood, a Collector’s blood may be the reason “Titan blood” is where magic comes from. Because it turns out it’s not actually “Titan Blood”... but blue Collector blood. King’s dad’s blood. But that’s a theory for another time.
