A textile-inspired tribute to Palestine, Turtle Island, Èire, Alba, and Korea.
Palestine should be free from the IOF.
I used Korean embroidery, Celtic Tartans, Turtle Island beadwork, and kufiya patterns of Palestinian origin as my muses. I limited the palette to colors used in the Palestinian Flag.
I decided to make this while abstaining from drawing characters.

I was explaining Evangelical Christian poisoning to one of my friends (she doesn’t have a lot of exposure to it because she’s Jewish) and I said, “You’d be surprised how many people think getting martyred is more powerful and more important than good works. It’s the Christianity.”
And I think that’s the full explanation of why one conflict has to be so much worse than every other (because they care about it), why they would throw over their own politics, ethics, and morals to coalition with Truly The Worst People Ever Devised, why there has to be a clearcut Ultimate Bad Guy (they view The Ultimate Bad Guys as a collective) and Ultimate Good Guys (they always view the Ultimate Good Guys as individuals), etc.
Even if they’re wrong, they’re lying, etc, they think they will be vindicated and deified as martyrs after their death. They don’t have to do real research. They don’t have to say true things. They don’t have to check they’re the ones being tricked or supporting violence, they can’t be held to the standard of fact-checking, ever. For any reason. Because they’ll be canonized. Because they’ll be martyrs.
It just… is the Christianity.
There are a lot of very bad things impacting a lot of people right now. There are a lot of violent and powerful people using civilians as pawns, sacrifices, or human shields in desperate power grabs. This is happening all over, to many groups of people. Please check your information sources, your media literacy, your critical thinking skills. Please be gentle with yourselves and don’t overwhelm your mind with violent scenes and imagery. Please rest.
Consider donating to aid organizations, like Standing Together.
Follow people who don’t hide the nuance of situations, and keep at least vaguely aware of concurrent events. And: cannot stress this enough, Take. Breaks.
Not resting and letting your mind process makes everyone much more vulnerable to being tricked. Propaganda works the same as marketing fraud which works the same as other types of scams. The more emotional, the more exhausted, the more desperate for change: the easier it is to spread lies. And once those lies spread, it is extremely difficult to trace them back to their origins.
That’s all I have to say. I should be back to my irregularly scheduled lace programming this weekend (provided my paints cooperate).

As someone who is (partially) English, all I have to say about the matter that hasn’t already been said is.. I’m not looking forward to the oversaturation of the news and everything being about this for the next ages.
Things may be delayed today render-wise but I assure you that is not due to any overarching current events. I have done any caring I might have had to pretend to already. It’s just because things have been hectic here with university preparations and also the fact that our dog is currently ill.
Hoping everyone is.. enjoying? the current state of the internet?

My favourite thing about the latest Twitter meltdown is all the artists reanimating their dead Tumblr accounts today and immediately being greeted with hundreds of notes because even a Tumblr account they literally have not posted to in 3–5 years has more active and engaged followers than the Twitter account that they've been updating daily.

Dozens of women were arrested from their homes and refugee centers, taken to Yarmouk Stadium in Gaza, their hijabs were removed from their heads, blindfolded, and they were searched. Many of them were subjected to sexual harassment, beatings and abuse. [@/mhdksafa on X. 12/28/23.]
I won't forgive ANYONE who calls themselves a feminist -for remaining silent about this genocide -you ARE complicit. During any and all instances of institutionalized and systematic violence, oppression, and abuse being executed by all imperial and colonial forces around the world -for you to say nothing -shame on ALL of you for cherry picking your 'issues.'

My sister puts glasses away upside down.
Because our mother does,
Because her mother did,
Because her mother lived through the Dust Bowl.
One day my father sat me down and told me about epigenetics.
How the trauma he went through
As a child in an abusive home
Wrote itself into his DNA
And, in turn, into mine.
How he and his brothers,
In various ways,
Are all sick from it.
How I might be too, someday,
And I’m not sure I’m not.
I hear people say,
When will we get back to normal?
And I think of a woman born in the twenty-first century
Who puts her glasses away differently
Because of what her great-grandmother endured
Ninety years before.

Even CNN is reporting the truth more now. But if you are held without being charged, you aren’t a prisoner, you’ve been kidnapped and are a HOSTAGE. And human rights organizations have said that the other 50%, who were charged, were mainly charged with throwing rocks, and that even most of that was made up.
For all the pro israel who came to my posts of Palestinian children celebrating their freedom, calling them terrorists and criminals. Israel is an occupation state, they don't need a reason to arrest you as long as you're Palestinian.

i had shared what is happening in sudan on a long facebook post last night, but it virtually received almost little to no engagement or shares from the nearly 600 “friends” i have on the site.
this morning, my great-aunt was shot by the soldiers fighting for power, and God forbid, i lose more of my family members before eid this friday.
please read below to understand what is happening and how you can help my country. i hope the tumblr community can show more kindness than the lack of support and advocacy i’ve seen elsewhere.
يا رب اجعل هذا البلد آمناً 🇸🇩
the lack of awareness and advocacy from the African, Arab, and Muslim diaspora and the human rights community has been painful.
while Western media has done little to no coverage of the ongoing conflict in the capital city of my motherland, Sudan, it appears that the rest of the world also partakes in normalizing crimes and violence against SWANA people.
violence and war hurting the SWANA region are NOT ordinary occurrences — no one, regardless of race, creed, ethnicity, religion, and gender, should experience the unprecedented amount of violence that harms my two living grandmothers, aunts and uncles, and baby cousins who live in Khartoum.
your decision to ignore reading or educating and discussing with others about what is likely to be a civil war is complicity in viewing SWANA people as individuals who regularly experience conflict and are undeserving of help.
the silence is damaging, and it is up to us as privileged members of the diaspora (or individuals living in the Western world committed to human rights) to support the people of my country and their dream for a stable, democratically elected government.
what is happening in Sudan is a fight that started on April 15 between two competing forces for power — the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) — neither groups are representative of the needs of our people. The Sudan Army is loyal to the dictator, Omar Al-Bashir, and the RSF is responsible for the genocide in Darfur.
with both power struggles backed by different Arab and Gulf nations, the two parties have been fighting for power for the last few years. While they worked together to try and end the people’s revolution, they lost. however, they are now in a constant power play of who will get to rule the nation.
this all means that war is NOT a reflection of my country — violence does not represent the SWANA people. Sudan is a nation of beautiful culture, strong women, intellectual and influential Islamic scholars, poets, and youth at the front lines of the revolution. we are a people committed to a region of peace for ourselves and the rest of the Ummah.
my family and the rest of Sudan’s innocent civilians are at the most risk, with many currently without drinking water, food to eat, electricity, and complete blockage to any mosques during the final nights of Ramadan, our holiest month of the year.
i ask that you please keep Sudan and our people in your prayers — donate to the Sudan Red Crescent or a mutual aid GoFund Me, email your representatives if you live in a country that can put pressure on either competing force of power, discuss this with your family and friends, and please do not forget to think about SWANA people — our brothers and sisters in Syria, Yemen, Lebanon, and many others need our love and support.

The amount of YouTubers I’ve seen deciding to deceptively frame situations or arguments and then
The amount of commenters being smug because they didn’t ‘believe’ the original story coming from affected parties or respected outlets (which was much closer to the truth) is absolutely wild.
Don’t base your view of the world on being a reactionary to everything. That’s a sign of immaturity and lack of research skills, not a confirmation that cynicism is a sign of cleverness.
Once again: this is how propaganda works. ‘You can’t believe your eyes. You can’t believe other people. The truth is unknowable and nothing ever happens but what we make up.’ You sound like KGB agents.
What’s worse is I’ve seen people reject primary sources in favor of mainstream outlets when the affected parties were obviously telling the truth (sometimes with video) and those same people rejecting mainstream coverage in favor of primary sources, only because the primary sources run cults of personality.
Influencers need to stop doing this and audiences need to learn information literacy

"Private submarine carrying several billionaire tourists goes missing while surveying the wreckage of the Titanic."
Well, it had to happen eventually. This is where big-ticket extreme tourism and shooting untrained assholes into space and such was always going to lead – frankly, it's surprising that it took this long for a major incident to crop up.
"One of the missing passengers is the president and CEO of the company that owns and operates the submarine."
Huh. Well, points for putting his money where his mouth is, I guess. I wonder if–
"The missing CEO's name is Stockton Rush."
Oh, bullshit. That's not a real person – that's the name of a guy who builds an inexplicably 1950s-themed underwater theme park and then gets eaten by a shark in a cautionary tale about the perils of libertarianism. That's the name of a guy who carries off an oceanfront real estate scam that somehow ends with Superman fighting a telepathic squid. Fucking "Stockton Rush". Unbelievable.
