Vaggie: “A lot?”

Charlie: “-better than expected!”

Vaggie: “No kidding. If I’d known inviting your dad here would get Alastor looking like a wet cat, I’d’ve pushed for it sooner.”

Charlie: “I’m just glad you pushed when you did.” (smooch) “Thank you. I’ve missed him.”

Vaggie: “Looks like he’s really missed you too, babe.”

Charlie: “Mm. Not enough to call, though.”

Vaggie: “Ehh, calling can be scary. Good thing you’re plenty brave.”

Charlie: “Only when you’re holding my hand!”

Vaggie: “Husk would say that’s an act of fucking bravery all on it’s own, letting yourself get grabbed by the small, mean, grumpy lady. Remind me not to help him out at the bar again ever. I think there’s vodka in my hair.”

Charlie: “I’ll try, but you know you’re gonna help anyway.” (second smooch) “Can I get a ‘you’re welcome’?”

Vaggie: (chuckling) “Charlie, I didn’t do anything.”

Charlie: “You do lots.”

Vaggie: “And thank hell Angel Dust isn’t around to hear that…”

Charlie: “I’m serious! You got me to call dad in the first place!”

Vaggie: “I just suggested it, you’re the one who did it, and you two worked things out together like a real father-daughter team.”

Charlie: “And we’re a great team too.”

Vaggie: “Well I’m definitely a pretty big fan of us. Although…. Sir Pentious and Keekee are giving us a run for our money. And the Niffty plus a lock of Lucifer’s hair combo might just have us beat.”

Charlie: “Blegh! She actually got that in the end? I thought her scissors couldn’t even cut it!”

Vaggie: “They didn’t. She used my spear.”

Charlie: “She WHAT-”

Vaggie: “And asked your dad very nicely to please take off his hat so she could trim off a piece without ruining the rest of his hair.”

Charlie: (sigh) “I guess as long as she ASKED…”

Vaggie: “D’you think her whole room is just a shrine to quote unquote bad boys?”

Charlie: “Oh don’t say that. We need to introduce her to some boybands or something.”

Vaggie: “We?”

Charlie: “Yes ‘we’, little miss likes making lesbian covers of the songs normally sung by teenage boys while you’re in the shower and think the sound of running water can in any way drown out your beautiful, heart stopping voice-”

Vaggie: “I- you- You’ve been listening!?”

Charlie: “Eeeev-er-y morning yep! Heheh~”

Vaggie: “Diablo mio… I need a drink.”

Charlie: (giggling) “To go with the vodka hair?” (nibbles Vaggie’s fringe) “Nom nom nom. Delicious~”

Vaggie: “Scratch that- clearly WE need some SLEEP.”

Charlie: “How can I sleep at all tonight, though? Vaggie- we’re gonna get a meeting with the top angels of creation! We’re gonna be on cloud nine! Literally! In HEAVEN!!”

Vaggie: “And sleep won’t be enough to prepare me for that but you definitely need it.”

Charlie: “It’s impossible! I need to SING!!!!!”

Vaggie: “You need to go shuck off those shoes and get in your ruby slippers while I put in your fav movie so we can get some rest.”

Charlie: “If you put in the Wizard of Oz you know I’m 100% gonna sing anyway right.”

Vaggie: “Yeah, but you’ll be singing in bed so you can keep watching the movie, and that’s good enough for me.”

Charlie: “I love youuuu~”

Vaggie: “Love you too sweetie. Slippers. Bed. Z’s. Now.”

Charlie: (kicks off shoes) “Ta da! There’s no place like home!"

Charlie: (clicks hooves together)

Charlie: "Heheheheh...!”

Vaggie: “I meant on the bed in your pajamas and under the actual covers- vaya, whatever. Scoot. Don’t go running off to Oz without me.”

Charlie: (snuggling vaggie in a hug instead) “I’m never going anywhere without you, Vaggie. Including heaven.”

Vaggie: (awkward laugh) “Great…”

Charlie: “Wanna know whyyyy?”

Vaggie: (smiles) “I make a great hand-holder, apparently.”

Charlie: “Yes. And, you’re home.”

Vaggie: “….yeah? I’m here? This is our room?”

Charlie: (snorting) “Vaggie-”

Vaggie: “In our hotel??”

Charlie: “Vaggie nooo- Anywhere else would be home too, with you there.”

Vaggie: “…..”

Vaggie: (deep breath)

Vaggie: “…... Charlie-”

Charlie: “You gonna press play?”

Vaggie: “-huh? Oh. Yeah.”

Charlie: (snuggling her) “This has been an amazing day. Wish every day could be like this, forever.”

Vaggie: “Yeah.” (hoarse) (curling up as close to charlie as she can) "Me too.”

-101 minutes of Oz later-

Vaggie: "Charlie?"

Charlie: "... nnnoooo..."

Vaggie: "Charlie, c'mon, at least let's get your coat off."

Charlie: "Mmrrr... mi mi mi..."

Vaggie: "You can go 'snork mi mi mi' afterwards. Work with me here, Dorothy- I can't get you settled into Oz without help."

Charlie: "Hmmheheheh... so im Dorothy..?"

Vaggie: "Definitely. You've got the ruby slippers on and everything."

Charlie: "I love that you call my hooves that~ Thats so silly. You're so silly, Vaggie."

Summary: You and Dean bicker about books.

Word Count: 847

Warning: Fluff.

A/N: I wrote this because of THIS post. I love that Dean is well read but doesn’t need to flaunt it. He is a genius and I love low-key-book-nerd-Dean. Thanks @arses21434 the Wizard of Oz idea! I had to keep it a drabble or else the angst would have seeped in. I know this is utter garbage. But, I have a lot of angst coming your way soon, so I thought I’d write a mini-palate-cleanser.

“You’re not serious?” Dean asks with skepticism.

“You can’t judge me. He’s not all bad,” you defend yourself.

“The dude locked his wife in the attic just because he could. He drove her insane, then locked her away like it was her fault!” Dean agrues with bewilderment.

“I’m not saying that I agree with him or even like him all the time. There is just something alluring about Mr. Rochester and I will admit, I was rooting for him and Jane.” Jane Eyre is one of your favourites. But, you made the mistake of trying to explain to Dean that you actually like Rochester. He now thinks you are insane.

“Seriously though, you can’t honestly believe that that book has a happy ending. If you read between the lines, you’ll see that even Jane Eyre, the very girl who made the choice to go back to that creep, doesn’t believe that that’s a plausible happy ending!” Dean continues to argue.

“First of all, we all know you’re a sucker for subtext,” Dean rolls his eyes at you and you giggle before continuing. “All I’m saying is, that just like Jane, he had me hooked too. Plus, they had a supernatural connection. She heard him calling her even though they were miles apart. I thought you’d appreciate that part, at least.” You say as you poke his arm.

“The guy is still a douche. Next, you’ll tell me you think that that psycho Heathcliff should have gotten his happy ending with Catherine too.” When you don’t respond, Dean looks up at you. You are biting your cheek and darting your eyes away from Dean. “Oh, come on! Seriously Y/N?”

“Heathcliff is an asshole… I’ll give you that. But, he loved Catherine. He never would have done the sketchy things he did, if they both got over their shit and would just be together!”

“What is it with you rooting for the psychos to get their happy endings! The guy kidnapped a young girl and her glorified babysitter, so the girl can marry her cousin and he can take control over the moors!”

“I already admitted he was asshole! I’m just saying he had a hard life. He was constantly denied and rejected and it would have been nice if him and Catherine were allowed to be with who they actually wanted to be with.”

Dean narrows his eyes at you. “I hope your infatuation with and sympathy for psychopaths doesn’t extend past the pages of a book, Y/N.”

“What can I say? I like my men like I like my windows… slightly unhinged,” you say with a shrug.

“You know that if a guy like Rochester or Heathcliff ever comes sniffing round, I will rip their lungs out before they even have a chance to worm their way in with you.” Dean’s tone is no longer light and teasing. “You deserve better than that. You deserve better than some creep who will lock you in an attic or marry your sister-in-law just to piss off your husband. You deserve more.”

“They’re just stories, Dean.” Your voice is hesitant. Why is he taking this so seriously? But more importantly, does he actually believe what he’s saying?

“True. But, I know you, kid. I know exactly what you think you’re worth and the kind of guy you think you deserve. But, you have no idea what I think you’re worth. If you knew-” Dean laughs to himself before taking a sip of his beer. “If you saw yourself the way I see you, then you wouldn’t be wasting your time rooting for losers.”

You don’t know how to respond. At best, your mouth gapes open and shut a few times. But Dean isn’t looking at you, he seems overly interested in the label of his beer bottle.

“Are you two fighting over Brontë novels again?” Sam asks as he enters the library.

“No,” you defend yourself.

“Yes,” Dean replies at the same time. “We’re agreeing to disagree. But, I think she is coming around to see things my way,” Dean says offering you a soft smile.

“Why don’t you two stick to less polarizing subjects. Dean, did you ever tell Y/N/N about what happened when Charlie came to visit?” Sam asks before wandering down the library to look for a specific book.

“What happened?” you ask turning back to Dean.

“What do you think of the Wizard of Oz?” Dean answers your question with another question.

“Don’t hate me, I know this is an unpopular opinion. But, I think the movie is overrated. The books on the other hand, they had so much more to offer,” you state your honest opinion.

Dean stands up and walks over to the cabinet on the other side of the room. He filters through the drawers and pulls out a wooden box. “Well then, I think I have something that may interest you.” Dean opens the box and holds up an ugly looking key. “I’d say the Emerald City is as good a place as any for a first date. Don’t ya think, sweetheart?”

Another A/N: I know that in the show Charlie took the key to Oz and it was subsequently destroyed. But, this is my failed attempt at writing fluff so sue me for going off-canon.

I cannot pick a favourite movie of those, as they all have wonderful qualities.”

— “The word ‘soulmate’ is so… ah– complete. So many talk of it like that is the only reason to be on this Earth and once they have found them, everything will be… done. Life will be over, I do not believe in that. I believe in great love, I believe I have found pure love and I believe that it does not come from only one person; I believe that there is more than one person in the world for everyone. Sometimes they are what you want, and sometimes they are what you need– whether you can see it or not. But I from experience, I believe that I know what will tell you if someone is meant for you: you look at them, and you have incredible confidence that your future is with this person. Watching Roman work his magic in the kitchen was not something that the dancer was used to doing. She normally was the one who spent hours and hours in the kitchen back home thanks to her mother and grandmother alike. Nothing beat watching them making their own sauces from scratch while drinking wine and laughing. It was only natural that love for cooking crossed over into her adult life, however as she sat there on the counter top watching Roman cook, it was a struggle to not be in control of the kitchen. 

The only thing that was sparing her sanity was the glass of white wine she’d poured herself while he cooked. Raising the glass to her lips as she tried her hardest not to tell him how to do this and that, she resorted to taking an extra long sip, head shaking. "You’re absolutely killing me, I hope you know that.” 

Charlie placed the glass of wine down on the counter after listening. "Mmph. Say no more.” His suggestion to go pick a movie in the den was better than losing her mind at not being able to help with the cooking. The palms of both hands were placed flat against the edge of the counter top as she pushed herself off the ledge to land on her feet. She was already in the process of walking towards the living room to go through the movies as she spoke, “Anything is better than watching you cook and not being able to help y—”

Almost instantly her sank to the bottom of her chest at the touch. She didn’t want to react to such a gesture the way she was. It was almost as if her fight of flight response kicked in the moment his hand landed on her arm, ready to put up a fight to prevent anything else from happening, something that she came to expect over the past few years. In that moment she could have sworn that she was staring at Michael all over again through her fuzzy vision due to the tears swelling in her eyelids.

“I–I’m sorry.” She shouldn’t have apologized but there she was. She was not going to accept an apology from Roman because in her eyes she was the one who was overreacting. Not him. He didn’t do anything wrong and Charlie was glad he refused to apologize.  Taking a few deep breaths as she kept her gaze on his hand on her arm, she struggled just as much as Roman to complete an actual sentence, “You... Unfortunately those broken sentences were a feeble attempt at explaining why she was so upset. It was more frustrating than everything else as she wanted to scream at the fact the asshole she’d ran from could still have some hold over her when they were having such a good time only moments prior, not wanting Roman to think that she was afraid of him, he’d still done nothing wrong. 

Charlie stayed completely still as she watched his movements carefully, eyes darting down to watch his mouth move towards her arm, blinking away a few stray tears. She’d never be able to explain fully how much that simple action of kissing the bruise meant to her.

“I know you didn’t.” Charlie whispered, “Just like I didn’t mean to freak out.” Charlie pulled her arm back in order to pull the sleeve of her shirt back down to cover the marks. Full coverage concealer would take care of that when she went back to work. She was appreciative of the feeling of normalcy Roman gave when he went right back to talking about the movie. Without saying another word, Charlie practically leapt forward to wrap her arms around his chest to pull the much larger male into a hug, silently letting him know that she was thankful for the lack of questions.

The dancer stayed there for a few moments before pulling away and wiping away the leftover tears. “Give me control of the movie selection and I’ll be forced to put on The Wizard of Oz. You might regret this decision.”

It was at that point a laugh finally escaped from her mouth after everything that happened as she shook her head at the thought and finally began to make her way to the living room to make that selection, but not before grabbing the glass of wine from the counter.

It didn’t take long before she settled on some selections for horror movies since they were his favorite, and hers, sitting down on the couch. “I’m ready when you are.” Charlie called out from the other room, taking another deep breath as she was still shaky from before, “Unless you started a kitchen fire?”

Alright so I went way overboard but when I set out to make a list of films people should check out I’m gonna take it a little to seriously.  That being said here’s a shit ton of films that I think everyone should check out if they can. Ice Cream and Wizards

From this request: A one-shot with dean where you're sammy's daughter (aged 11 or so?) and he's on a hunt and asked dean to take care of u?

Ever since you’d come into Sam’s life, things around the bunker changed. It was child-proofed, the living room was cluttered with an array of toys, the cupboards were filled with baby and toddler-friendly snacks (which Sam often found Dean munching on). Sam and Dean loved you with all their hearts and would stop at nothing to keep you safe. For a while, that meant that Sam abstained from all hunts, period. Then, with news that things were getting worse out there, he would occasionally leave you at home with Cas or, in very rare cases, Chuck.

But as you grew older, Sam knew that typical babysitters wouldn’t do it. Yes, Cas was surprisingly good with you and you loved him; yes, Chuck was God and could easily care for you. But they weren’t the same as flesh and blood relatives. Family was incredibly important in these years; Sam feared that if he didn’t give you a solid family now, you would head down a dangerous path in the future.

He carefully approached the subject with Dean, who agreed that he shared some of Sam’s worry.

“So, what do you propose we do?” he asked. “You going to give up hunting forever?”

“No. You know that we can’t do that.”

“Give up hunting until she’s old enough to join us?”

“I don’t want her hunting.”

“Yeah, good luck with that.”

Sam sighed. “Listen… I know she’s my responsibility and I appreciate everything you’ve done for her. But do you think we could possibly… set up a schedule where we… I don’t know, alternate hunts? Go out with Cas or Crowley, leaving the other one here to take care of Y/N? That way one of us is always around for her?”

The stare Dean was pegging Sam with made him feel that the offer (and Sam and you and all your belongings) was going to be thrown in the trash. “Y’know, for someone who went to college, you sure can be a dumbass sometimes.”

“I… what?”

“She’s not just your responsibility, Sam. She’s ours. That’s what family means. Everyone chips in to take care of their own.”

“So… you’re saying… what are you saying?”

“I’d be happy to watch the little monster while you go fight the big ones.”

Sam felt a huge weight lift off his shoulders. He stood and wrapped Dean in a giant hug, nearly crushing his brother.

At that moment, the brothers heard you snuffling over the baby monitor, signaling that you were waking up from your nap.

“You’re up, Uncle De,” Sam said, clapping his hand on Dean’s shoulder.

The arrangement actually worked really well. Cas was willing to go along on the hunts, helping whichever Winchester was out that day. Of course, there were still a few hunts that needed both brothers, but the number was less than before.

Years passed and you continued to grow, happy and healthy with your family. Sam did his best to explain things to you, making sure not to scare you. You understood that Daddy and Uncle De went out to ‘save the world’ and while you still had fits of sadness, you would try to put on a happy face and wave goodbye as one of the Winchesters left.

You were sitting on your father’s bed, watching him pack his bag. “Are you gonna go kill some bad guys?”

Sam smiled. “Yes, sweetheart.”

You nodded. “One day, I’m gonna join you. I want to help save the world.”

This gave Sam pause; he always said he didn’t want you to get into hunting. But he supposed there was nothing he could do to stop you… and if he could help you prepare…

He zipped up his bag and slung it over his shoulder. “That day is a long way away, sweetie.” He held his hand out to you and led you out the hall.

Dean was sitting in the living room, watching football. “You all packed?”

“Yeah. I’m going to get going.” Sam crouched down in front of you, smoothing his hand through your hair. “All right, sugar bug. Daddy has to leave. You going to be a good girl for Uncle De?”

You nodded before flinging yourself into Sam’s shoulder, wrapping your arms around his neck. “Be safe, Daddy.”

“I will. And Uncle Cas will be there, too. Everything’s going to be fine.” Sam pulled out of the hug, pressing a kiss to your forehead, before walking off to the garage.

You stood and watched, listened, as he disappeared. Once the door shut behind him, you crawled up onto the couch next to Dean. He turned his attention from the tv to you; your teeth were worrying your bottom lip. Dean couldn’t help but laugh at the strong, self-assured way you tried to carry yourself, even at your young age.

“You want some ice cream, Y/N?”

You turned, your expression conveying your surprise. Daddy never let you have ice cream in the middle of the afternoon; that was an evening treat on rare occasions.

Dean stood and headed to the kitchen, soon hearing you pattering behind him. He felt your eyes on him as he pulled the ice cream from the freezer, the toppings from the cabinet, the dishes from the cupboard.

Your eyes grew as large as the sundae he sat before you. “Thank you, Uncle De,” you said in awe.

“You’re welcome, Monster. Now, you know what would make this ice cream even better?”

You shook your head.

“A movie. I’m thinking… The Little Mermaid?”

“Yay!”

Later that night, as Dean was tucking you into bed, he saw that sadness returning. Sam had called a few hours ago, saying that he’d made it safely. You’d been excited when he’d called but Dean could see that you were wishing he was back.

Thankfully, Sam had left something behind for this.

Dean opened your bedside table and pulled out a package wrapped in shiny paper. “Y/N, your daddy left this for you.” He watched as you opened it, finding a large, leather-bound book inside. “You know what that says?”

“The W…Won…Wonderful W… Wee…”

“Wizard.”

“Wizard,” you repeated. “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.”

“You want me to read it to you?”

You nodded, holding the book out to Dean. He took it and situated himself next to you, immediately feeling you lean against him. He opened the book, finding the map of Oz. He couldn’t help but remember the day Charlie had gone off with Dorothy, much to the surprise of him and Sam. Dean was glad that Sam was instilling in you the same love of knowledge that Sam had, and Dean knew that it had been a very deliberate choice to leave this book behind.

Dean cracked open the book, flipping to the first page. “Dorothy lived in the midst of the great Kansas prairies with Uncle Henry, who was a farmer, and Aunt Em, who was the farmer’s wife.”
