Charlie had always been Charlie. You weren’t entirely sure where he got it from. Somehow after all these years in boarding school he had found a confidence that set him apart from the others. You had never met anyone else that had lived life with their chin so high and smile so wide. He was confident, fun, popular, and you felt everything but. When he had chosen you it was shocking. How could daring and brave Charlie seek out the only girl that kept her head ducked and mouth shut. Yet somehow he did and everyday since you had been questioning why.
Especially on days like today. Days where Charlie’s laugh bellowed loudly through the lunch room as you sat quiet as a mouse beside him. Girls looked on with adoring looks and boys laughed after every sentence that left his mouth. His presence was large, everyone saw him, everyone liked him. It was so intense that as you sat beside the boy you loved you felt more invisible then ever, especially to him. He didn’t see you, there is no way he could have. You were nothing but an inanimate object beside him and you had only ended up in this position from a cruel trick of fate. Not only were you now invisible but humiliated because you couldn’t compare to him. You never could.
When the bell sounds you’re the first out the door. You didn’t want to wait and see if Charlie even acknowledged you, it would hurt too much if he didn’t. You barely went noticed as you left anyway so it would be no surprise if he didn’t notice either. But he did. His proud look turning into one of confusion as he spotted your form rushing away. He had wanted to kiss you, stare into your pretty eyes for a moment longer, but you were gone in the blink of an eye. He wondered why, it almost feeling like you were trying to escape him. This very thought plagued him the rest of the day as he awaited a moment to see you again.
Once classes were over it took him forever to find you. He felt like he had turned Welton upside down in search of you until he finally found you curled up on a window seat in the library. Your eyes were cast downward at the book in your hands, your forehead pressed against the cool glass of the window where you sat. You were so beautiful and his heart yearned deeply for you in that very moment. He wished you didn’t feel so far away. He just wanted you two to be okay. As much as he talked about always having a girlfriend he never thought he’d be lucky enough to have one, especially you.
“Found you” you jump slightly at the sound of his husky voice. He’s lifting your feet and sliding beside you before you can react. He doesn’t make any notion that the window is cold against his back as he finally looks at you.
“I wasn’t hiding” you finally say, a bit nervous in his presence which you hated.
“Felt like it” the sad way he drops his gaze from you makes your heart clench. You hadn’t meant to hurt him but he had unintentionally been hurting you.
“I know” you whisper and Charlie looks up to see the sad expression you wear, one that matched his own.
“Can you tell me why?” he asks and you notice how small he seems here. He isn’t loud and proud Charlie, he’s your boyfriend who’s afraid you’re going to say something that hurts him and even worse you know what you have to say is going too.
“I don’t know why you’re with me Charlie” you say, officially closing your book and giving him your full attention.
“What do you mean?” he asks and you bring your hands to your face, sighing into them before looking up again.
“I’m not like you Charlie. You’re good looking, popular, outgoing. I’m just not” you say, exasperated and tired of not only being insecure about everything else in your life but about this too.
“Yes you are!” and this has you chuckling dryly, so tired of being lied to.
“No Charlie, I know it, you know it, and the rest of these imbeciles do too” you say, arms crossing over you chest and Charlie sighs as he presses a hand to his forehead.
“You are to me” he says calmly and you feel your heart rate accelerate at the confession. Charlie dares a glance at you to see your face flooded with sadness and confusion. He had never meant to make you feel small. “You’re the only girl for me. Maybe you’re not all that outgoing but that’s okay. I need someone who is going to bring me down to earth. I wanted to kiss my girlfriend today before she left after lunch and instead I watched her run away from me. I don’t try to make you feel worthless, I’m just so used to being loud and bold to hide the fact that I’m terrified my life won’t turn out the way I want it to. The only thing I’m sure of is you”
“Is that true?” you ask and Charlie chuckles even though none of this conversation is meant to be funny.
“It’s the most true thing I’ve said all week” he tells you and finally you take a good look at your doe eyed boyfriend. His floppy brown hair hangs in his eyes and the crooked smile on his face is still only ever directed at you. He loves you the way you love him, for all the things neither of you are. So you scoot forward and wrap your arms around his neck.
“I’m sorry I assumed the worst of you” you tell him and he gives you a tight lipped smile that you happily lean forward and kiss.
“I’m sorry I expected too much of you” Charlie apologizes in return and you smile before locking your lips with his own again. Pulling yourself closer to him your book slides from your lap and lands with a loud thud that has you both giggling quietly in the back corner of the library. Charlie doesn’t care about the attention it might’ve brought and kisses you good and hard again.
The best thing about Charlie is no matter how insecure you are, at least he will always be there for you. You balanced each other out and balance was the most important key to life. Balance love, balance work and art, and you shall be free.

n/a: i was really looking forward to write something with charlie, and i am so excited for this one. i really hope you enjoy it. feel free to request anything! as always, english is not my first language, so there might be some mistakes, sorry in advance x
masterlist :)
"i'm gonna ask her out", charlie repeated for the thousandth time, staring at you from the other side of the common room.
"yeah, right.", knox teased him. "you always say the same thing but you never really do it."
"and also, what if y/n doesn't like you back?", wondered neil.
but charlie's ego was too big to break like that. and also, he had noticed how your eyes fixated on him when he wasn't looking, so, at least, you were interested in him.
"you can mock me all that you want, but i am going to do it.", charlie said, as he stood up. the rest of his friends stared at him in disbelief, with their mouths open.
you saw him approaching your group of friends and returned your sight to your latin homework, playing dumb. you knew your friends couldn't tell, but your heart rate was alarmingly fast as charlie was closer.
"hey, girls", he greeted you and your friends. "do you mind if i steal y/n from you one sec?"
you knew charlie wasn't asking for permission, he hardly ever did, so you stood up, closing your notebook. "what is it, charlie?"
"just a thing i wanted to ask you. come with me?"
you followed him to the corridor, which was empty, and waited for him to start talking. you and charlie weren't exactly friends, but you liked him. he was funny, and smart, and didn't have any problems to cause some trouble in school. he was also devastatingly charming, and every single girl in school would agree on that.
"so...", he started. "how was your day?"
"did you actually dragged me out of the common room to ask me about my day?", you laughed.
charlie fidgeted with the collar of his school shirt. "actually i wanted to ask you something."
"ask away, i'm not gonna bite you.", you said, jokingly.
"i was wondering if you had any plans this friday evening.", charlie said, and you flustered to your ears. your cheeks were so warm you even wondered if it was possible to be that red.
don't be an idiot, y/n. come on, woman up, you thought.
"um, no. i don't think so. why?"
"would you like to go out? like, with me?", he asked, and you could tell that he was blushing too. it was a rare sight to see charlie dalton blushing, but it was a very cute one.
"sure, yeah.", you replied, your hands trembling. you couldn't believe that. "anything planned?"
"i thought we could go to the cinema? if you're up to it."
"yeah. i love the movies.", a weird silence formed between the two of you, both too happy to say anything. then, you cleared your throat. "so, friday, 6pm?"
"perfect. i'll pick you up on your dorm."
you nodded, going back into the common room. a few moments later, charlie entered too, sitting with his friends. you could see his face between todd's and meeks' shoulders. he noticed you staring and winked at you. you lowered your head back to your homework.
and friday couldn't come fast enough.

Chemtrails over the hills
A/n: I wanted to do something Lana inspired but I wanted it to be short so it's not country club it's just hills. Just a short blurb because I got randomly inspired and I chose Charlie Dalton because I love Dps. Thanks!
Summary: A glimpse of summer with you and Charlie.
Warnings: None just pure fluff (Charlie Dalton x F!reader) (F/I) means first initial, in your name.
Tumblr media
His garden is just as beautiful as you remember it. “How does your mom find the time to take care of them.” you say crouching down to feel the petals of the roses. “She loves flowers I guess.”
You stand back up and he holds out his hand for you. You grab his hand and walk with him as he leads you farther out into his backyard. He leads you to his old swing set and you take a seat in the swing next to his. “How’s Neil?” You turn around to face him and see a small smile on his face. “He’s good, he’s recovering great actually.” you smile. “That’s really great.”
“It is, isn’t it?” He smiles even wider. “Todd refuses to leave his side, every time I go to see him, he’s there too.” He laughs. “I don’t know what Todd would do without him.”
You stay there for a while until Charlie gets up. He offers his hand out to you, and you take it. He leads you inside and takes you into the kitchen. You lean on the island counter as he gets you a glass of lemonade (or whatever drink you want). “Here you go.” he hands you the lemonade and you take a sip.
He takes your hand in his and leads you back outside. Instead of going back to his backyard he leads you out into the small hills a couple minutes away from his house.
“What are we doing here Charlie” You laugh softly. “I just wanna lay down with my favorite girl” you look at him with your brows raised and he leans down to kiss you. You reciprocate the kiss wrapping your arms around his neck.
He pulls away and leads you to the top of the hill. You both lay down to watch the sky. He takes your hand in his. You turn your head to face him to see him already looking at you. “I love you Y/n.” You smile wide. “I love you too Charlie.” he squeezes your hand and turns back to face the sky. You do the same and admire the plane doing loops and leaving trails in the sky. Your smile grows wider when your read what the trails spelled out. “F/I + C”

ORLANDO (FIRST KISS)
- charlie, your best friend, attempts to set you up with the crush he is convinced you have. (charlie dalton x gn!reader, includes some neil being a good friend, slight angst into fluff, happy au, no beta we die like real men)
Tumblr media
word count: 2,647
a/n - i love charlie so much oh my god 😭 hopefully there’s more to come with him! i’m planning a very long fic for him, hopefully similar in feeling to my neil fic “the last time” :) this is slightly inspired by the song “orlando” by leith ross so pls check them out!!
Tumblr media
It’s 1:32 AM on a Friday night (Saturday, technically, but that rarely seems to matter), and Charlie Dalton is refusing to let you sleep.
“You’ve got to tell me. I swear, cross my heart, I won’t tell a soul.” He begs.
Charlie has been your best friend for god knows how long. You met so long ago that you don’t even remember how or why; it just was. That’s exactly what your relationship is. There’s really no rhyme or reason, considering you would detest anyone else with his personality, but you’re friends anyways, and you love him with all your heart. Opposites attract, you suppose. You don’t know for sure. Most days, including today, he is extremely and desperately annoying.
You slump down onto his bed, covering your eyes with your hands. He’s gotten it into his mind that you have a crush, and he won’t rest until he finds out who it is. Lucky you.
“Charlie, it’s no one.” You groan, peeking past your fingers to stare at him with a cross expression. “Even if I did like someone, I wouldn’t tell you.”
The problem is, you do like someone, and he’s sitting right in front of you with messy hair and pajama pants.
Your feelings for him, just like your meeting, are so far buried in the past that you couldn’t dig them up with an excavator. One day, you suppose, you just started to fall in love with him. He’s annoying and rich and a total smart-ass, but you love him. In some soft, quiet ways, he is the kindest boy you’ve ever met.
He notices when you get cut off mid-conversation or when you’re just a little too uncomfortable to talk to the person in front of you. He knows you like the back of his hand and puts his knowledge to use without ever having to ask, like how he always gets you exactly what you want on your birthday. He’s smart and energized and a breath of fresh air, no matter how stale the room is. And, of course, though you would rarely tell him, he is dashingly handsome.
He sits up straighter and begins listing every boy you’ve ever come in contact with. “Meeks? You always did like his type. Ooh, or Pitts? He’s a pitiful lady-killer. Todd is another good choice. Knox has got his thing with Chris, so you probably wouldn’t like him unless you’re into getting your heart broken.” He stops his ranting to take a breath, then continues on. “You cannot like Cameron because if you do, I won’t ever talk to you again. It isn’t Cameron, right?”
You scoff. “I don’t have a crush. Stop trying to guess a person that doesn’t exist.”
“Neil?” He questions. You hesitate just a bit before waving away his suggestion. Neil is a very good friend of both yours and his, and truthfully, he would definitely be the best boyfriend out of all of them. Despite that, you do not love him like you love Charlie. Not even close.
He catches on to your hesitation with scary accuracy. The tilt of your head, the twitch of your hand, the way the corners of your mouth almost curved up into a smile. Charlie feels his heart drop. “Oh my god, it’s Neil. Of course it’s Neil, it’s always Neil! You like Neil.” Neil is, unbeknownst to him, a complete catch. It makes sense that you would like him. After all, he’s kind, outgoing, and a whole lot nicer than Charlie is. That doesn’t make it hurt any less.
Like you, Charlie doesn’t exactly know when you came into his life. Maybe a stuffy dinner party or a prep event- all that matters to him is that you’re here now, and he loves you. He does, however, know when he started loving you.
It was seventh grade at a school dance, and you had decided to go with a boy he barely knew. When the boy asked you out with a pocketed rose and a shy smile, Charlie felt his blood boiling. How dare he, he thought, take you away from him? You’re his best friend. He would have bought you an entire flower shop had you said the word.
Seeing you waltz with him in your pretty outfit, as awkward and stiff as you both were, was too much for him to bear. Charlie left early, prompting you to follow him. The scene that resulted was one you both tried heavily to erase.
“Charlie, what’s wrong?” You panted, hurrying after him as fast as your pinchy shoes would allow. “Charlie. Charlie! Talk to me.”
“It’s nothing. Just go away.” He sniffled. You turned the corner to see him sitting on a curb, tears tracking down his face. If you knew one thing about Charlie Dalton, it was that he hated crying. You sat down next to him, but he turned to face the trees to his left.
“What happened?” You asked gently. How he despised your gentle care.
“I hate you. Go away.” His voice broke in the middle of his sentence. “I never want to see you again.”
Something in you snapped in that moment, something angry and sad all at once. He was hurting, and you loathed it, but Charlie always got what he wanted in the end.
You stood up and left, muttering a “sorry” over your shoulder.
He tried to avoid you for a while after that, but as with all fated things, he couldn’t stay away for long. He went back to you without a hint of apology, and you took him. Begrudgingly, you just couldn’t be without your best friend for very long.
He knew he loved you then, and that fact hasn’t changed in the present.
“I don’t like Neil.” You insist. “Trust me.”
Charlie stands to pace around his room, talking with his hands as per usual. “Y’know, you always seem smiley around him. I should’ve seen it coming, really. The way you talk to him can’t be platonic.” You sigh from the bed, and Charlie flops down beside you. You can feel the heat radiating from his skin. It’s pleasant, like a ray of sun on a cold day. You instinctively move closer to him as he opens his mouth. “I could probably get you a date with him. Not that you couldn’t do it yourself, but,” he pauses, a hint of hurt humor in his eyes, “I could be your wingman.”
He doesn’t want to be. He really doesn’t want to be, but what can he do? He would rather see you happy with Neil than miserable with no one. Despite how much he hates it, he’s gotten over most of his prepubescent jealousy. He knows deep down in the very achingly sad part of him that you don’t love him. At least, not the way he loves you.
You’re facing him, your nose inches away from his chest as your heart pounds in yours. He really wants you to get with Neil. Well, if that’s how he feels, you don’t feel the need to reject the offer. Maybe this is just the thing you need. What’s the point in pining after him when he’s actively trying to set you up with his second best friend?
“Yeah. That… I would like that.” Charlie’s heart crumbles in his chest.
“Then I’ll get right on it.” He grins. Behind the smile, sadness is swimming in his eyes, but you don’t bother to look at them.
It’s winter break, one of Charlie’s favorite times of the year, but he doesn’t think he’s ever felt this sad before.
By the time the next weekend rolled around, you had almost forgotten about Charlie’s proposed setup. But, on this Saturday when you’re cozy in your room, Neil comes knocking at your door.
You open the door, slightly surprised. He’s holding a bouquet of flowers with a small grin on his face. They’re your favorite flowers.
“Hi.” He says. His voice is breathless.
You raise your eyebrows, but for some reason, you can’t help but smile. Neil is standing in your doorway, and you feel like you know what he’s going to ask. “Hey.”
“Do you want to go on a date with me?” He implores, holding the bouquet out for you to take. “It doesn’t have to be right now, but… I’m ready if you are.” He’s dressed in a crisp suit, and if you’re being honest, you’d hate to make him go home without putting it to use.
You laugh lightly, the feeling bubbling out of your stomach. “Yeah, I’d love that. Just let me get ready and I’ll be out in ten minutes.”
Two days prior to Saturday, Charlie proposed a dead poets town trip. They were milling around, bouncing from shop to shop before Charlie clasped Neil on the shoulder.
“What do you think about Y/N?”
Neil turned, confused. “What do you mean?”
There was a smirk on Charlie’s face, but he hesitated like he didn’t actually want to say the words he was about to say. “I mean, I think you two would be a pretty cute couple.”
Neil let out a huff of air, almost in disbelief. “You’ve been in love with them since seventh grade, Nuwanda. Don’t try to act like you aren’t.”
Charlie gasped exaggeratedly and put a hand over his heart. “How dare you suggest that! I just want the best for my dearest friends.” The others laughed. Every single one of them knew that Charlie harbored deep feelings for you- and every single one of them knew he would never admit it. “Look, just one date. Ask them out on Saturday. They really like you, and I know they’re free, so they can’t pull any excuses.”
“I just don’t know.” Neil admitted. “They’re great and all, but I’d feel bad if I stole away your crush of four years.”
“You won’t be stealing anything, my boy. Just think about it.” Charlie knew he was lying, and it left a bitter taste in his mouth, but he also knew that somehow, he was making the right decision.
Like all of your romantic endeavors, your date with Neil is slightly awkward. He’s your friend, sure, but you’ve never really thought about him like this before. You never even considered dating him. It’s always been Charlie. Maybe, just maybe, it’s time to broaden your horizons.
After the initial tension, you would like to believe it went well. Neil walks you out of the restaurant, holding your arm. He’s smiling, and you feel your own expression falter. You like him, you really do, but some part of you knows that he will never be Charlie.
He leans closer to you, almost close enough to touch. Your heart pounds in your chest as he whispers something into your ear. “Don’t look, but Charlie’s watching. Pretend I’m kissing you.”
You’re taken aback as your eyes try to search for his brown hair, but after a second, you comply. You shut your eyes and thread your fingers through Neil’s. To anyone else, especially anyone inside of the restaurant, it looks like you’re smashing tongues with him.
Neil walks you home as the day fades into night, and as much as you ask, your questions are left unanswered with a sly wink.
“I can’t believe you would do that.” Charlie rages. “It was meant to be a date, not a date and a tongue fuck! That was their first kiss, Neil, and you’ve stripped them of it!” He doesn’t know why he’s so outrageously enraged. It was a quick kiss from the boy you’ve been crushing on. He should be overjoyed for you.
“It wasn’t like that, Charlie. Just ask them.” Neil is surprisingly calm, considering his friend is screaming at him. “Ask them. Go on.” He pushes Charlie’s shoulder. “I walked them home.”
Charlie grumbles, his gut twisted into shaking, angry knots. “I will. If they tell me you did anything weird, though, you’re dead.” Neil shakes his head.
“I think you’d kill me even if I didn’t kiss them.”
For the second time, you hear a knock at your door. This one is loud and frenzied, but through the haze, you can tell who it is. Who else would knock so harshly at 11:23 at night? It’s a good four hours after your date, so it definitely can’t be Neil.
You open the door, clad in pajamas and a frown. “Seriously, Charlie? You’re gonna wake the whole neighborhood.”
“Did he kiss you?” Ah, straight to the point. He’s never one to beat around the bush.
“What’s it to you?” You defend. “You didn’t care about that possibility when you wanted me to date him.” You cross your arms. Why the hell is he so upset? You don’t understand anything about this. His motives, his feelings, right now, they’re more confusing than he’s ever been. Well, save for one night. Oddly, this reminds you of that dance a few years back. You don’t want that to happen again, so whatever’s going on has to stop.
He opens his mouth and then closes it like he’s actually considering what he wants to say for the first time in his life. “I just…” A defeated expression tugs his face down. Your heart plummets. You rarely ever see him crestfallen. The last time was four years ago, and you had hoped you would never see him like that again.
He turns to walk away. He can’t do it, he just can’t. He’s walking so fast the pavement under his feet is a blur, and you chase after him.
“Charlie, what are you-“ He turns, seeing the confusion on your face.
When he looks at you, all Charlie can see is love. He loves your voice, the curve of your lips, the way you do anything and everything. In that moment, when he sees you with tired eyes, his inhibitions flee like rabbits from a wolf. Maybe, just maybe, he can.
Before you can ask, yet after you see the fire in his eyes, he grabs your arm and cuts you off.
“Can I kiss you?”
You’re taken aback for a moment, lips parted, not speaking a word. His hair is messy and the tear tracks on his cheeks glisten in the street lights. It’s like everything you’ve ever wanted has sprung to life before your eyes. “Yes, but-“
He presses his lips to yours, effectively cutting off any further communication once again. His grip on you softens as his hands reach up to cup your face. Your eyes flutter shut, and a million different things race through your mind. All you can consciously think is that you never want it to end.
When he pulls away, breathless, something new is shining in his eyes. “I hope that wasn’t bad for a second kiss.” He smiles. He’s still worried, more so than he’s ever been, but that was the most amazing thing he thinks he’s ever done.
“Second? Charlie, that was my first.”
He pauses. “So Neil didn’t kiss you?”
You laugh, and upon seeing his even more excited face, you laugh so hard you double over. He joins, and your giggles are probably too loud for how late it is. “No! God no, he told me to pretend because you were watching.” Your voice comes out humorous and strained, with so much joy behind the tone that Charlie can feel himself starting to laugh again. “Were- Were you in the restaurant for our whole date?”
“Yeah.” He chokes out. “I couldn’t just let the love of my life date some other guy without my knowledge, right?”
“Oh, totally. Maybe you should ask me out next time, then, to completely avoid this whole scenario.” He pulls you in, laughing against your shoulder.
“Sure. Yeah, I think I will. Next time, I’ll make sure of it.”

au where todd and charlie r 'dating' in the way that they didn't have anything else to do or todd was getting asked out and felt uncomfy so charlie and him started 'dating' but then todd met charlie's best friend neil and uh oh spaghetti o charlie forgot to tell neil his bf wasnt rlly his bf
so like in this au todd and charlie meet at like college or something - maybe theyre dormmates anyway
todd’s a little more comfortable than he was in high school and it shows in the way he stands and carries himself, so he starts getting a lot of attention
he is simply a todd, though, and he doesn’t not know how to deal with that
so he asks charlie to help him somehow
and charlie likes chaos so he suggests fake dating and todd is like “um is that a good idea” and charlie is like “have i ever had a bad idea” and todd is like “almost every idea you’ve had-”
anyway
so they fake date
but then
one day charlie’s best friend, his other half, his brother (in blood if the ritual they performed in highschool, drunk, worked) shows up becuz he’s planning on transferring out of his yucky dad-picked college
and to todd’s horror, charlie’s best friend is extremely pretty
and to neil’s horror, he starts having a crush on his best friend’s crush and oh does his self loathing go hard

author’s note: tysm to @hcwevergreen for fueling my ideas for this <333!!! inspo from this post. sorry it’s a bit short!
about: playing with charlie’s hair as he falls asleep <3
Tumblr media
“you tired, baby?” you ask with a little giggle. you craned your neck to look down at your boyfriend, who was most definitely falling asleep. he was laying on your chest, his eyes fluttering closed as you gently ran your fingers through his soft hair.
“no,” he mumbled. “‘m just resting my eyes.” he snuggled further into your chest, wrapping his arms around tighter around your waist.
“mhm, sure” you say sarcastically. “whatever you say, love.”
if one thing could make charlie pass out it was playing with his hair. after long days and uneventful study sessions you often found him on your lap or laying on top of you, your nails gently scratching his scalp and soothing him to sleep.
his hair was always soft, and it smelled like his woody and citrusy shampoo. he took good care of himself, and you appreciated the gentle smell.
it was the little, vulnerable moments like these that you cherished. being able to hold charlie and show him the love he deserves. to see him be so soft and feel so comfortable with you meant the world to you.
his breath was slowly growing soft and shallow, his body heavy on top of yours. you continued to play with his hair, feeling yourself steadily drift off to sleep after him.

Dead Poets and their future careers- a headcanon
Neil-
He would of course act (Yes Mr Perry, he isn't gonna become a doctor unless it was a role). Probably star in a couple of movies but mainly focus all of his energy into theater (mainly Shakespeare). He would at least once in his life perform in the Globe theater and perform either Midsummer's Nights Dream or Much Ado About Nothing.
Todd-
When he becomes more confident in himself and realizes his enormous talent for writing, he and Neil (as a married couple) would create plays together for Neil to perform. For days he would be preoccupied with his latest project, refusing to let anyone read it until he deems it as his best work yet (Neil probably takes a few glances because Todd is such a perfectionist). Before publishing his work, he let's Neil read it and give his opinion and then the rest of the poets. If it is a play, Neil gets to perform it first and then when Todd is finally satisfied with it, he sends it off to the publishers.
Cameron-
Cameron is a classic case of a future politics student and later a conservative politician. After Welton, he probably distances himself from everyone else and you only find out what happened to him after the poets watch the news and see him and his campaign. If he moved to the UK he would for sure be a tory!
Charlie-
After being expelled from Welton, his parents send him off to another private school and after graduating, goes onto study English Lit with a double honour in music theory. Keatings teachings perhaps stuck with him the most and so he either becomes an english teacher himself, a jazz musician or a published poet (think something like Allen Ginsberg or Jack Kerouac). Maybe even all 3!
Meeks-
BELOVED PHYSICS SCIENTIST! After endless hours studying a theory he publishes his dissertation and becomes a renowned Nobel Prize winner and mentions all of the poets in his speech and thanks them for their support!! On the side, he is also a professor at a prestigious college and sometimes uses Keatings methods of teaching to inspire his students (which often ends up in messy failed experiments, but nevertheless successful in his eyes).
Knox-
Knox has got to become a philosipher? RIGHT? After being rejected again by Chris or another girl he thinks 'is the one', he goes to the library and picks up a copy Hegel or Nietzsche and decided that this will be his personality for the rest of his life. He probably becomes a writer and creates a philosophy branch for delulu guys like him (or is the first ever incel on Reddit).
Pitts-
Pitts GOES TO YALE!!!! I REPEAT GERARD PITS GOES TO YALE!! He probably has the most average life to everyone else, becomes a teacher, starts a family. But he on the side (which becomes his career) is a world renowned chef and baker. He is on TV shows and shows how to bake rolls and later is a humanitarian celebrity who comes out with a cookbook!

The bundle of nerves in your stomach was becoming too much to bear. This was visible as you nervously bounced your leg in the waiting room of the doctors office. Everything was so white and your heart rate was starting to pick up. You weren’t normally a fan of doctors but you felt you had justified reasons for your visit. Considering you period was late, you woke up queasy every morning, and your emotions seemed to be heightened, so it gave you all the excuses in the world. It also made sense because you and Charlie had agreed to stop using protection a few months ago. You had discussed being ready for kids and not wanting to rush into pregnancy, so you stopped using protection, and prepared for it to happen when it happens.
“Take a breath” Chris whispered, the small baby boy held to her chest. You had called her the minute you put the context clues together and she agreed to accompany you since she had already been through this twice now.
“I know, I’m trying” you forced a smile, your hand instinctively moving to twist your wedding band around your finger. It was a habit you had picked up since it became a permanent part of yourself.
“Remember, you and Charlie are ready for this. You should be excited” her soft smile radiated towards you and you felt comforted by her the same way you did the day you met. Without Chris you never would’ve met her boyfriend, now husband Knox, and Knox would’ve never introduced you to your now husband Charlie.
“I am, it’s just scary to think about. I’m already so attached and maybe I’m not even pregnant” you voiced your fears, admiring how she cradled her 10 month old baby as her 2 year old girl slept against her side. She was a super Mom, taking it all in perfect strides, the same way she mastered everything. Where she thrived, you struggled, and you worried motherhood would be the same.
“A mother’s intuition is never wrong, and you are going to be a great one” Chris’ hand moved to cover your stomach and you felt butterflies erupt because everything in you believed that a tiny piece of life, that you and the man you loved created, was growing in there.
“Mrs. Dalton” you nearly jumped out of your seat as the doctor called your name and you quickly stood, following him to an exam room.
“Good luck” Chris called out after you.
“We’re gonna do a blood test and then an ultrasound to see if we can find anything” you nodded, trying to numb yourself to feeling because you didn’t want to be disappointed. You’d rather not be heartbroken if he told you, you weren’t pregnant. So you tried to lessen your hopes as you let them take the blood test.
You could’ve sworn your heart was about to bust out of your chest as he prepped you for the ultrasound. Too scared to find there was absolutely nothing in there. Your eyes flicked nervously across the small, fuzzy, black and white screen as you waited.
“Would you look at that” the doctors voice nearly stopped your heart as a small blob appeared on the screen. A small thumping sound filled the room and you felt tears begin to form behind your eyes. “Judging by the size and the heart beat you’re about 6 weeks along. Congratulations Momma”
“Are you serious?” the dam broke as tears flowed freely down your face and the doctor smiled.
“Very serious” you leaned over and hugged him, him taken aback as he let out a chuckle. You couldn’t wait to tell Chris as you quickly got yourself back together to rush out to the waiting room.
“Well, what did he say?” Chris jumped to her feet as you returned to the waiting room. You tried to keep your composure but as soon as she asked you began to cry again.
“I’m 6 weeks along” shock flooded Chris’ features as she heard this.
“Oh my, you’re having a baby!” she squealed before hugging you as tight as she could with her son in her arms.
“I can’t wait to tell Charlie!” you spoke as you pulled away, already excited to cook the two of you dinner and tell him the good news. After that you and Chris wasted no time getting back home so you could prepare to tell your husband.
You nearly burned the chicken cutlet about five times as you prepared it, bursting with excitement and anticipation of Charlie coming home. You were going to have a baby, you had wanted this for so long. It was the whole reason you had stopped using protection, you were ready. So when you heard the door knob turn you realized you wouldn’t be able to wait until dinner was served to share the news.
“Hey baby” Charlie smiled at you, abandoning the brief case at the door as he loosened his tie. You couldn’t help but smile wider at the name baby.
"Hey sweetheart, how was work?" you asked as he walked over, wrapping you up slowly in his arms as he began to kiss the side of your head.
"Long and tiring, I couldn't wait to come home and see you" Charlie had ended up a Bank Managaer despite his best efforts not too. You admired that he was able to strip the work away the minute he stepped into the home. He still read and wrote poetry and played the saxophone every once in a while. You admired that he made an effort to continue doing the things he loved. Life was about work, of course, but it was also about the good, enjoyable things.
"I've been dying to see you too" you told him, finally pressing your lips to his in a soft kiss. He hummed in relief, as if the action just removed all of the stress from his entire day.
"You seem extra happy today, what's got you all smiley?" Charlie asked as he pulled back from the kiss, searching your eyes as he looked at you with adoration.
"I got some good news" you grinned and Charlie rose his eyebrows, curious as to what could have you with this wide a smile on your face.
"News? Well hit me with it sugar, don't leave a man hanging" he told you and you chcukled, excitment and nerves bubbling over as he continued to hold your waist.
"So me and Chris went to the Doctor today?" Charlie furrowed his eyebrows, confused that good news could come from a doctors visit instead of bad. "I wanted to get checked out.
"But you’ve been fine, you haven't even had a cold?" Charlie was still confused, unsure where any of this story could be going. He didn't need to worry and going to the doctor without telling him worried him.
"Not cold symptoms, but pregancy symptoms" you explained and suddenly all the color seemed to drain from his face.
"You're pregnant?" you nodded, the huge smile still painted perfectly on your face and he felt his heart begin to quicken. Suddenly his arms loosened their grip around you and he took a step back, the smile instantly falling from your face.
"Charlie? What’re you thinking?" you nervously asked as he backed to the dining room table and calmbered into a seat. He stayed silent, looking anywhere but your eyes, and suddenly you felt the tears begin to burn behind them. "We talked about this, you we're ready. We stopped using protection"
The tears started to fall and Charlie finally looked to you, a hand over his mouth as he sat there stunned. Yet between your tears you saw he had tears in his eyes as well. You wished you could read every thought going through his head as he looked at you, a broken look across his face.
"Charlie, tell me what's wrong?" you begged as you moved towards hm, grasping his hands in your own.
"I thought I was ready" he muttered, tears now falling down his cheeks as well. He shook his head, removing his hands to brush his tears away.
"So you don't want to do this?" you asked and he sighed heavily, his heart clenching from his thoughts.
"Of course I do, I just don't want to hurt our kid" it was your turn to furrow your eyebrows in confusion. Bending to your knees in front of him you grabbed his thighs, practically pleading with him to look at you.
"Baby, how could you ever hurt our kid?" you ask and he sighs, his fingers running through his hair, leaving it a mess compared to his perfectly combed look.
"We could make them feel trapped, like they don't have a future, they could decide to leave us" and then it hit you. Charlie was scared to raise a kid, do it wrong, and lose them exactly how he lost Neil.
"Charlie that could absolutely never happen. You are not Neil's father, in fact you are the furthest thing from it. I know I can trust that you will keep our childrens happiness before anything else" you tell him, trying to reassure him of this and he sighs, tears still staining his face as he lifts you up to sit in his lap.
"I know I'm just scared, I didn’t think it would happen this soon" he says and you smile as you wrap your arms around his neck, pulling him close.
"We've been trying for month Char, I think we are just on time" you tell him and he nods against you, a hand reaching over to press against your stomach.
"There's really a baby in there?" he asks and you smile, happy this didn't mean he didn't care.
"Yeah, 6 weeks old. Only the size of a pea" you tell him, a hand running through his already disheveled hair.
"If it's a boy can we name him Neil?" Charlie asks and you smile, brushing your own tears away.
"Of course baby" you tell him and he finally lifts his head from your chest to look at you.
"And if it's a girl, can we name her Nuwanda?" you laughed at this question, head tipping back in amusement, unsurprised that he said it. He was still the same guy you fell in love with.
"Absolutley not, but I don't hate Wanda" you tell him, your hand tucking under his chin to lift his head and look at you.
"Wanda is perfect" he said before leaning forward and pressing his lips against yours. You smiled as he kissed you hard and good, more than likely trying to erase the mess he just made. He knew he should've been excited but the fear was suffocating the minute he heard the word pregnancy.
"I promise you'll be a good father Charlie, I just know it" Charlie smiles softly, holding his girl that was carrying his baby. The baby he would make sure didn’t grow up with the same fears of life like he did. Like Neil did. The exact fears that killed him.
"I'm going to do everything I can to gurantee that"

Paper flower
A/n: I found another draft and decided to post it as well. It’s kinda rushed, sorry. This was inspired by the paper flower trend. I don’t see a lot of Charlie fics so I wanted to make some more. Enjoy!
Warnings: none just a lot of fluff, Modern Au!Charlie Dalton x f!reader.
Summary: Charlie decides to do something for you while you’re studying.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Charlie laid on your bed playing with your guitar as you sat at your table trying to study for your physics test. “Hey Y/n,” he calls out softly “Yea?” you say focused on your practice sheet. “Can we do something please.” You turn around and see him trying to give you the best puppy dog eyes he could muster.
You sigh. “I really have to finish this Charlie.”
He groans.
“But I came here to be hang out with my girlfriend, not to watch her study.” He whines. “I’ve been putting this off for too long.” You look down at the paper and curse physics for being so hard. He puts the guitar down and falls back on your bed. “Ok, I’ll wait I guess.” He mumbles.
You feel bad for doing this now of all times but you promise yourself to make it up to him later.
About 10 minutes into your studying, you hear shuffling around your room. You turn around to see paper scattered all over your bed and him looking at his computer very intently.
“Charlie?” He looks up at you wide eyed and quickly covers up what he’s doing. “Charlie what are you doing?” You let out a laugh as he’s still trying to hide whatever it is he’s doing. “Nothing N/n, just focus on your physics stuff, you’ll see soon.” He says absentmindedly, waving his hand to shoo you away. You give him an incredulous look but don’t say anything as you turn around to go back to studying.
30 minutes later and your already done with your work, still keeping your back facing him as wants to finish up what he was doing.
You feel a tap on your shoulder, he puts his hand over your eyes and turns you around. He lifts his hands from your eyes and you immediately smile at what he was holding in his hand.
You turn around to see a single paper flower in his hand. He has a grin on his face looking very proud of himself as you take your time to admire the flower. “Thank you Charlie, it’s beautiful.”
You smile wide as you look at the flower he took forty-ish minutes to make. The flower didn’t look half bad. It wasn’t perfect, but there was the obvious effort he put into it, and that was enough to make your heart melt.
“I wanted to do something nice for you N/n, and you looked stressed so no more studying.” He says sternly.
You place the flower gently on your table and wrap your arms around him. He immediately wraps his arms around your waist, giving you a kiss on the side of your head. You hold each other in a tight embrace before pulling away.
You lean in to kiss him and he gladly leans forward, cupping your face and kissing you slowly. He sighs into the kiss, pulling you harder against him.
He pulls away first to catch his breath all the while you smile at him cheekily, looking at him wet lipped and slightly red in the face.
He smiles down at you, kissing you one more time before grabbing your hand and walking you over to your bed.
You both lay down as he wraps his arms around your waist putting his head in the crook of your neck. You smile as he places small kisses on your neck. You comb through his hair soothing him to sleep.
Eventually you hear his soft snores and place a kiss on his head before also succumbing to sleep.

Hey, could you do a fluffy Charlie Dalton x fem!Reader where she's having a really really stressed day and Charlie relaxes her with a walk in the snow?
Tumblr media
Absolutely!! First Request, kinda nervous 🤭!!
Tumblr media
Snow Days!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Warnings: Absolute pure fluff, one kiss, stressful day, crying, comfort.
Pairings: Charlie Dalton/Fem!Reader
A/N: First Ask!! so nervous, hope i did your request justice!!
Tumblr media
“God Damnit! Why won’t this work!” you say, scribbling with a dried out fountain pen.
Your day has been stressful. First, you got dress coded because 13 strands of hair were flying out of your slicked back High Ponytail. Next, you got detention because Brad and jerry were trying to hit on you in class and you were deemed as a “distraction” of the classroom. And the tip of the god forsaken iceberg was your favourite fountain pen stopped working.
This day couldn’t get any worse, could it?
“Please! please, please work! i don’t have another pen!!!” you scream at your pen. Your one page away from finishing your essay. you’ve been procrastinating this for three days because your “creative juices” weren’t flowing the right way
“What the hells all this commotion about?” Charlie dalton questions, running into your room as he heard your pleas. “Charlie, not now.” your voice is trembling, lip quivering as you try not to look at the boy. “Hey, Hey, Hey? What happened?” he rushes over to you sitting down next to your chair.
“I got dress-coded, Jerry and brad are going to get murdered in 3 seconds, and this pen is PISSING ME OFF!” you burst into tears, hiding your face in the palms of your hands.
He wraps his arms around you, holding you in his embrace as you curl into a ball. His hugs changed the chemical balance of your brain, they were so warm and full of genuine love.
“Wanna go on a walk sweetheart? It’s snowing, and you love snow.” he questions, pushing a strand of hair out of your face. You nod and put on your winter coat before taking his hand walking out of your room, down the hall, down the stairs, and out the entryway of Hellton.
You walk for a while, stopping every once in a while to look at the birds and the trees, you found a lost sock, and you both laughed about that for a little while.
“This was amazing, you always know what to do to cheer me up Charlie.” you smile, his hands resting around your waist as you sling your arms around his neck. “anything for my girl.” he smiles before leaning in and kissing you gently, filled with love and affection.
You break the kiss and smile at him. You rest your head against his chest and he perks his chin on your head. “Your the Best boyfriend anyone could ask for, Dalton.” you smile against his chest. “Took you that long to figure out?” he laughs.
You slap his chest playfully before throwing snow at him. “Lats time ill ever compliment you!” you smile, turning around before being shoved by a snowball. you whip your head around to see him innocently smiling.
“CHARLIE DALTON!” you yell, chasing after him.
That boy will be the death of you.

steven meeks x fem!reader
Tumblr media
summary: a cute study session between friends turns into a budding romance. Short and sweet. notes: My first dps fic!! hope you enjoy!!
The November chill infected the dorm room’s air as the two friends attempted to revise for upcoming exams. One, a dishevelled red-head, sat stooped over countless textbooks, notes, pens and paper, his round glasses nearly falling off of his nose. The other was his much less motivated best friend. She was sprawled out across a small but comfortable bed (which belonged to the aforementioned red-head) staring out of the rain splattering across the windows, instead of the chemistry notes in her hands.
“Stevie… I don't know if I can take much more of this nerd stuff. I’m cold! And bored!” The whine in her voice was desperate. Chemistry sucks.
“I'm nearly done, I promise. If you're that bored, why don't you listen to your music? And grab a jumper to warm you up.”
Using all the energy left in her body, she rolled off the bed and headed for Steven's wardrobe, found the comfiest looking jumper available and pulled it over their head.
“You know Steven, some might consider this a grandad jumper, I feel about eighty in it.” she teased, turning to the record player.
“It’s a good job you’re not one of those people then. Don’t let that get too loud, we’ll get in trouble” his voice was just above a whisper, thick with exhaustion.
No response was voiced, but the record player clicked on. Fingers sorting through the selection of vinyl, she came across the album ‘Sixpence None the Richer’. Carefully, she took it from its sleeve and let it begin to spin before flopping back on to the bed.
As the third song reached its middle, Steven suddenly stood up from the desk before dramatically flopping next to the girl on his bed. By the beginning of the fourth track, the pair had managed to sit up on the bed, facing one another.
“This one is your favourite, right?” Steven asked her. Of course he knew, he knew everything about her.
“It is, I'm sure you’re sick of it but I just can’t get enough.”
“If you like it, then i could never get sick of it,” He looked at her as if she was the most incredible thing in the world. To him, she was. If only he could tell her. “You look very pretty this evening, I'm sorry I've ignored you all night.”
“You’ve hardly ignored me, the whole point is that we were supposed to study, i just get bored easily,” Had she heard him right, had he really said that? “You think I'm pretty?”
Carpe Diem. Seize the day.
“Always have, just never had the guts to say it,” He leaned in close, sweeping a bit of hair behind her ear. At this distance, he could feel the warmth radiating from her heart.
“Stevie, listen to the song”
“Huh?”
“Kiss me, Meeks. Please.”
He didn’t even have to consider it. His slightly chapped lips were on her soft ones instantly, engaged in an intimate romance the pair had separately daydreamed of for years.
“Why didn’t we do this sooner?” He asked his love, before they began to kiss once again, passionate but slow.
Eventually, the pair fell into the bed, but their lips never parted for long. For the rest of the night, they shared languid kisses and a warm embrace, before finally falling asleep tangled in each other's arms. They’d have to discuss this new found adoration for one another in the morning, but until then, they slept safe in the knowledge that they had finally expressed their desires.
