People arguing over Boba's characterization is hilarious because never has official Star Wars anything ever bothered to be consistent about him.
And I don't just mean Legends vs. Canon
Boba Fett is a character of popular media that's been around for decadss. Multiple interpertations and characterizations are canon (and legends).
Pick the characterization you love and ignore the haters.

Jila Fic Excerpt
Notes: My brain’s been itching with writing Jila and combining it with where season three of The Mandalorian ended this happened. The longer fic gets into more with how Jila’s feeling after being pushed further into the spotlight while navigating fraught politic relations between different factions. It also gets into her feelings about her dead father and how she hopes he would view her.
Mando’a Dictionary:
cyar’ika: Darling, Sweetheart
buire: Parents (lit. plural of mother & father; in this case it’s Bo-Katan Kryze & Solus Ve’tra)
jang’eyayah: Clones (lit. Jango Echo)
---
Tarre dropped onto the makeshift bench in a sprawl of too long limbs. Through their helmet, and even without the Force, Jila knew they were brimming with annoyance. “Moving to a forest and cutting all contact with the Galaxy. Wanna come?”
“We staying in system or what?”
The indignant scoff barely sent her into a fit of laughter. “We’re staying. Didn’t take the fucking thing back to just leave.”
Her twin was one of the few people she was truthful with about why she hung out atop the left wing of the former royal palace. Within the city proper it was one of the highest places that offered near complete solitude. Everywhere else was too low, had too many people, or was a mixture of both. Up high, alone, and in view of the stars was where her center was found. Maybe in the coming years she would be able to see the stars from here too. But, it did the job well enough.
The others were fed lies in the most sincere of tones. She picked the best vantage points to help document the city’s progress. Between her rangefinder, macrobinoculars, and her advanced HUD it took nothing to record data. Her scans were transmitted to their current headquarters where they were assembled into updates and passed on. It saved on both jetpack and ship fuel.
Air hissed from a depressurizing helmet before the clank of beskar to beskar. A glance to her right had her eyes rolling. Of course their shorter, white hair still looked perfect. Over eight hours in a helmet meant nothing. Her own hair was frizzed to Concordia and back even with her cyar’ika’s careful braids.
“Where did they have you today?” She hadn’t seen their name around the in-city crews.
“More underground scouting. Main objective was to check stability but to the shock of no one we had to exterminate some nests.” Their battered canteen came to their purple lips for a deep drink before passing it over. “The work itself was fine. But the group? I wanted to cave myself in by the four hour mark.”
The water bore a hint of metallic and purification tablet. They definitely refilled while under ground. “That was you? I thought the urge to collapse a building on myself came from my wiring crew.”
No effort was made to suppress an undignified snort of laughter. “You’re too dramatic to just hang yourself with cables.”
“Damn right.” Her smile was all fangs, “I wanna go out with a memorable bang.”
Beyond the busted railing they spied clusters of Mandalorians moving on about their lives. Their Buire’s Nite Owls traveled in clumps of blue beskar’gam, the color of their childhood. A stray Wren with gold trimmed black darted between clusters in a rush. Spotting the little clump of Skirata was easy even if they didn’t have a clan theme. Helmets off showed many of them as jang’eyayah children or adoptions. One of the only other clans with jang’eyayah was Ve’tra. Just behind them was the heavy, blue beskar’gam of Journeyman Protectors intermingled with some yellow Rooks. They looked happy.

STAR WARS PREQUELS - A TIMELINE
So, what's this about, huh? After recently sitting down with Star Wars Timelines, I was genuinely surprised at just how much they were willing to nail down to a specific year and sequence of events, which admittedly is a reference book and those are pretty low on the canon totem pole so be prepared for future retcons down the road, but it's shockingly useful information to have! Because the more I paged through it, the more I realized just how useful it would be for fic writers, especially for anything that might be referenced by a prequels character. Do you want to know how old the Jedi Order basically is? What the eras were called, if a prequels character wanted to reference them? What year did Dooku leave the Jedi? When did Naboo join the Republic? When was the Republic founded? When was the Jedi Temple built? When was Yaddle born? When did the Togruta ally with the Republic? Was Anakin born on Tatooine? When did Plo discover Ahsoka? When did Anakin get his first kyber crystal? When did Obi-Wan join the Jedi Council? WHEN DOES THE MANDALORIAN CIVIL WAR TAKE PLACE?? Some of this is SO INTERESTING to have nailed down into place--like just how old Huyang is or that the Jedi Temple was constructed on Coruscant BEFORE the Republic existed! Useful for me to know, but also my prequels-era characters to know! This book is willing to tell us A LOT and I collated everything I thought would be useful for a prequels character to know! ERAS:
c.5,000 BBY– 1,032 BBY: Ancient conflicts "The Jedi and Sith wage a series of wars throughout their history so ruinous that at points each is brought to the brink of destruction."
c.500 BBY–330 BBY: "The Age of Exploration" "After centuries of governing in regions near the galactic Core, the Republic sets out to explore the Outer Rim. This era of exploration on the frontier presents many adventures and opportunities for the Republic and the Jedi Order alike, but growth also leads them to uncover new mysteries and dangers. Soon the Jedi Order’s very connection to the Force is put to the test."
c.500 BBY–100 BBY: "The High Republic" The four hundred years that are collectively referred to as the High Republic era.
TIMELINE:
c.25,025 BBY: BIRTH OF THE JEDI
"The Jedi Order is founded. Among the earliest locations, and likely the first, is a temple constructed on the planet of Ahch-To. Later, the temple retains the most treasured Jedi texts and earliest writings on the Order’s faith. For eons, these noble protectors stand united by their ability to harness the power of the Force itself for good."
c.25,020 BBY: Professor Huyang powered up "The architect droid Professor Huyang begins training Jedi younglings in the delicate art of lightsaber construction."
c.20,000 BBY: Dawn of the Republic
"The foundation of the Republic is formed through an alliance including Coruscant, Corellia, and Alderaan, prompted by the dawn of hyperspace travel."
c.5,000 BBY: Creeping darkness
"A dark-side sect splinters from the Jedi, causing the formation of the Sith. This fracture is the genesis of a millennia-long rivalry."
c.5,000 BBY–1,032 BBY: "The Sith battle the Jedi in numerous conflicts for thousands of years before their struggle comes to an end, resulting in the destruction of the Sith Empire."
c.5,000 BBY–1,032 BBY: "The Sith build shrines on planets, including Malachor and Moraband. They covet these locations for their connection to the dark side of the Force."
c.1,050 BBY: A Mandalorian Jedi
"Tarre Vizsla becomes the first of the Mandalorian warriors to be inducted as a member of the Jedi Order. The unique lightsaber he constructs comes to be known as the Darksaber, later stolen to be used as a symbol to unite his planet."
c.1,032 BBY: Coruscant Temple erected
"The main Jedi Temple on Coruscant is constructed at the same location where there was once a Sith shrine."
c.1,032 BBY: "Darth Bane, the last surviving Sith, recognizes that infighting and back-stabbing ultimately led to the downfall of the Sith Empire. He declares the Rule of Two, whereby there can only be a sole master and single apprentice of the Sith. The practice safeguards the inherently selfish Order from self-destruction, thus ensuring the survival of the Sith for centuries to come."
1,000 BBY: Reformation of the Republic
"The first incarnation of the democratic alliance of planets, the Galactic Republic, is reformed."
c.972 BBY: Rules of war
"The Galactic Accord of Systems establishes a set of rules of engagement, in the event another war should break out."
896 BBY: Yoda is born
"The future Jedi Master Yoda is born."
832 BBY: Construction of Theed
"Naboo’s capital city, Theed, is built. The floating city on the banks of the river Solleu becomes the jewel of the metropolis."
867 BBY: Naboo joins the Republic
"The planet of Naboo officially joins the Galactic Republic. The event will be commemorated annually with The Festival of Light."
796 BBY: Students of Yoda
"Master Yoda begins training Jedi. He will maintain this regular practice, teaching the newest members of the Order, for about 800 years."
600 BBY:
Jabba Desilijic Tiure is born.
509 BBY:
Yaddle is born.
c.392 BBY: PATHFINDERS
"The Republic and the Jedi establish Pathfinder teams to explore new hyperspace lanes in the farthest reaches of the galaxy. A team of Pathfinders typically includes two Jedi, a master and their apprentice, who work together with their Republic allies to discover new ways through dangerous and unexplored places. They work with communications teams who lay the groundwork for the infrastructure needed for Republic growth. In return for their efforts, the Jedi Order hopes to gain new understanding of the galaxy, new cultures, and the Force."
c.383 BBY: THE HYPERSPACE RUSH
"Independent explorers also race to discover new paths through hyperspace. These prospectors risk their lives in perilous, uncharted corners of the Outer Rim, hoping to find safer, shorter routes. Families like the Grafs and San Tekkas earn great fame and fortune by selling their knowledge of these new hyperlanes."
382 BB The First High Republic book of Phase II
The High Republic: Path of Deceit kicks off the second phase of books, set 150 years before the previous phase.
382 BBY: Battle of Jedha
"The Path of the Open Hand instigates a battle on the sacred moon of Jedha."
232 BBY The First High Republic book of Phase I:
The High Republic: Light of the Jedi, which kicks off the original era of the High Republic (out of universe, not in universe), starting with the Great Hyperspace Disaster where a ship explodes in hyperspace over the planet Hetzal Prime. This ignites an intergalactic conflict with the Nihil that draws the Jedi and the Republic into a massive connected, long-running series of battles against them.
232 BBY:
"Dignitaries and Jedi gather at the Starlight Beacon for its official dedication ceremony."
The Great Hyperspace Disaster (the Legacy Run explodes in hyperspace) happens and the Jedi rush to help mitigate the disaster and evacuate as many people as they can.
"The brave deeds of the Jedi Order [in the Great Hyperspace Disaster] are cast across the galaxy via holotransmissions, making Kriss and her fellow Jedi heroes."
The Emergences: "Though Hetzal has been saved by the heroics of the Jedi, fragments of the Legacy Run continue to threaten the frontier. Fear grips the Outer Rim as blazing wreckage of the ship appears with little warning from hyperspace. As the Republic seeks answers to these Emergences, a group of Jedi stranded in a forgotten corner of space unknowingly cause a far older and more sinister threat to emerge: the Drengir."
"Wreckage from the Legacy Run scatters through hyperspace, endangering the Outer Rim. The first of the Emergences after the Great Hyperspace disaster occurs at Ab Dalis, killing 20 million beings."
"The Nihil strike on Elphrona, intending to ransom well-connected homesteaders and capture a Jedi for Marchion Ro’s evil machinations."
"The Jedi Council votes to join the Republic against the Nihil."
232 BBY: A BEACON OF HOPE
"With the Great Disaster behind them, the Republic and Jedi refocus on the opening of the Starlight Beacon. This towering space station located in the Outer Rim is one of Chancellor Lina Soh’s Great Works, meant to provide a symbol of hope in a dark corner of the galaxy. This shining example of Republic unity and progress serves as a vital base for the ongoing struggles with the Nihil and Drengir."
"One of Chancellor Lina Soh’s Great Works, the Starlight Beacon, begins operation after a dedication ceremony attended by Republic dignitaries and prominent members of the Jedi Order. The station is to be just one of many beacons, serving to connect, inspire, and serve the Republic’s growth in the Galactic Frontier. The Jedi maintain a permanent presence on the station under the leadership of Marshal Kriss and the watchful eye of the exacting Jedi Master Estala Maru."
"Hunting the Nihil - Though it lacks a formal military, the Republic forms a special task force to hunt the Nihil, with Joss and Pikka Adren among the first volunteers."
"The Jedi broker the Ayelina-Ludmere trade agreement."
232 BBY: GROWTH OF THE DRENGIR
"The carnivorous Drengir take root across wide swaths of the frontier. Their lust for living flesh, which they consider “meats,” leads them to attack hundreds of worlds. Defenseless settlers and the Jedi alike struggle to repel these horrifying plantlike creatures."
231 BBY: THE REPUBLIC FAIR
"Chancellor Lina Soh’s next Great Work is a magnificent fair on Valo. Meant to celebrate the Republic and its many achievements, the event turns into a tragedy. The Nihil mount a merciless raid on the fairgoers, destroy the event, and nearly kill the chancellor. The Jedi defenders mount a valiant defense but are outnumbered."
231 BBY: FIGHT FOR THE FRONTIER
"The Jedi march across the frontier as they seek justice for the attack on the Valo fair. With the Drengir threat seemingly settled, they turn their attention to the scattered Nihil forces. The Jedi believe that they are gaining the upper hand, but are unaware of who leads the raiders and their ultimate goal. The Nihil Tempest Runners bear the brunt of the assault while the Eye of the Nihil, Marchion Ro, prepares a new weapon to fight the Jedi."
"The Republic-Togruta Alliance is formed."
230 BBY: FALL OF STARLIGHT
"The Nameless wreak havoc among the Jedi, who fight valiantly in Starlight’s final moments. Master Estala Maru sacrifices his own life to delay the top half of the station from burning up in Eiram’s atmosphere. Below, Master Stellan Gios stays behind to ensure the lower portion will not strike a populated city on the planet’s surface."

Ventress confronts Vos and Dooku, saving Quinlan before Dooku attacks her with a devastating blast of lightning. The count escapes. Vos and Obi-Wan return Ventress to the waters of Dathomir. [Ventress dies.]"
"Having left the Jedi Order, Ahsoka befriends Trace Martez, a mechanic in the Coruscant underlevels, and her sister Rafa. Ahsoka discovers the Pykes are working for Maul, who is on Mandalore. "Separatists commanded by Admiral Trench invade the Republic stronghold of Anaxes and repeatedly defeat clone counterattacks. Rex is disturbed that the Separatists seem to be adapting rapidly to his strategies and suspects Trench is using some new combat algorithm. He proposes raiding the Separatists’ cyber center to discover their secret. The mission succeeds with assistance from an unorthodox unit of genetically altered clones known as the Bad Batch."
"Anakin joins Rex’s clones and the Bad Batch to raid the Techno Union’s facility on Skako Minor, fighting their way through Wat Tambor’s droid legions. They discover Echo confined in a stasis chamber and hooked up to Separatist computers. Anakin confronts Trench to obtain the rest of the sequence to disarm the bomb, saving Anaxes. The Jedi agree and split the 501st in two, with Rex leading troops under Ahsoka’s command."
"A Separatist armada launches a sneak attack on Coruscant, hammering the Republic warships of the Coruscant Home Defense Fleet. Grievous ambushes Palpatine in the Federal District, killing Roron Corobb and knocking Shaak Ti unconscious, then kidnapping the chancellor. The Open Circle Fleet arrives from Yerbana."
19 BBY: REVENGE OF THE SITH:
"Anakin and Obi-Wan fly through the titanic space battle, dodging salvos of laser fire exchanged by Republic and Separatist capital ships in an effort to reach the Invisible Hand, where Palpatine is being held. With the Separatists cut off from their jump point, the battle degenerates into a brutal slugging match, with ships burning up in orbit and debris raining down upon the Coruscant cityscape below. Anakin and Obi-Wan rescue Palpatine above Coruscant. Anakin kills Dooku and Sidious plots to make the Jedi his new apprentice."
"Grievous retreats to Utapau, where the Separatist Council is in hiding. Sidious orders him to relocate the Separatist leaders to Mustafar."
"On Mandalore, Republic forces take the docks of the capital, Sundari. Prime Minister Almec orders Gar Saxon to retreat into the undercity. Bo-Katan’s commandos capture Almec. Ahsoka confronts Maul in the undercity. He is disappointed to see her, having hoped to lure Obi-Wan into his trap."
"Anakin dreams of Padmé’s death in childbirth. Palpatine appoints Anakin to the Jedi Council as his personal representative, to the alarm of Yoda and Mace Windu."
"Bail Organa meets secretly with Padmé, Mon Mothma, and other senators determined to resist Palpatine if he doesn’t surrender his wartime powers."
"Yoda heads to Kashyyyk to bolster its defense."
"On Maul’s command, Saxon shoots Almec before Ahsoka can finish questioning him, then makes his getaway."
"At Coruscant’s Galaxies Opera House, Palpatine plays on Anakin’s anger and doubt about the Jedi’s integrity, guessing that they asked him to be their spy. He tells Anakin the story of Darth Plagueis, a Sith Lord who could save people from dying. Anakin, fearful his nightmares are a premonition of Padmé’s fate, is intrigued—particularly when Palpatine tells him it is not a power that can be learned from the Jedi."
"Obi-Wan travels to Utapau to hunt for Grievous."
"Clone troopers, Bo-Katan’s commandos, and Saxon’s warriors battle in the streets of Sundari, with the Republic’s forces winning the day."
"Ahsoka confronts Maul again, who tells her Sidious is behind everything and Anakin is the key to destroying the Sith. Maul reveals that he had hoped to lure Obi-Wan and Anakin to Mandalore in order to kill Anakin, so Sidious could not take the Jedi as his new apprentice. Ahsoka and Maul duel. Maul is captured by Rex’s clones, with Saxon apprehended as well."
"On Utapau, Obi-Wan confronts Grievous. He duels the Separatist warlord and then chases him through the city’s winding tunnels and warrens."
"Palpatine reveals his true identity to Anakin and begs him to use his knowledge to save Padmé. Anakin vows to turn him over to the Jedi."
"Obi-Wan corners Grievous in a hangar on Utapau and kills the mechanical monster with a shot from a blaster."
"Imprisoned in a device that prevents him from using the Force, Maul is brought aboard a Jedi Cruiser destined for Coruscant, escorted by Ahsoka."
"Told of Palpatine’s identity, Windu orders Anakin to wait at the Jedi Temple while he arrests Sidious with Kit Fisto, Agen Kolar, and Saesee Tiin. Sidious kills Tiin, Fisto, and Kolar and duels Windu. He attacks Mace using lightning, which the Jedi Master deflects back at Sidious. Anakin arrives and pleads that Sidious be allowed to stand trial, but Windu says he’s too dangerous to be spared. Anakin makes a fateful decision, stopping Windu’s attack by severing his hand. Sidious blasts Windu with lightning, sending him through the broken window. Anakin pledges allegiance to Sidious, who grants him the name Darth Vader. He tells Anakin to go to the Jedi Temple and kill everyone there—that will make him strong enough with the dark side to save Padmé."
"Ahsoka and Maul sense a strong disturbance in the Force."
19 BBY: ORDER 66
"Sidious issues Order 66. Clone troopers across the galaxy obey their inhibitor chips and attack the Jedi, decimating the Order."
"Commander Cody targets Obi-Wan Kenobi on Utapau. The Jedi survives the attack, escapes offworld, and is rescued by Senator Organa. Aboard the Jedi Cruiser Tribunal, Rex manages to tell Ahsoka to “find Fives” before trying to kill her. She evades Rex’s fire and flees from his troopers. Commander Grey and his clone battalion execute Depa Billaba on Kaller. oda avoids death by killing Commander Gree and Captain Jek, and then escapes Kashyyyk with help from Chewbacca and Tarfful. On a Jedi Cruiser above Bracca, Jaro Tapal is cut down by clones from the 13th battalion, sabotaging the warship before he dies. "Ahsoka prevents other clones from killing the imprisoned Maul. She releases him to create a diversion. While Maul wreaks havoc aboard the Tribunal, Ahsoka activates a trio of astromechs to help her evade Rex’s troops. Ahsoka locates Fives’ records, learning what happened to him and that Rex suspected the clones’ inhibitor chips have some ulterior purpose. Ahsoka subdues Rex and removes his inhibitor chip. Maul destroys the Tribunal’s hyperdrive, sending the doomed Jedi Cruiser careening toward the surface of a remote moon."
"Bail Organa arrives at the Jedi Temple to investigate the uprising and is confronted by clone troopers. He retreats under fire."
"Anakin, now known as Darth Vader and backed by the 501st Legion, marches on the Jedi Temple and slaughters its defenders. He shows no mercy, believing that the dark side is the only pathway to the unnatural powers he must command to save Padmé. As his rage and lust for power swell, not even younglings hiding in the Jedi Council chambers are safe from his lightsaber. Elsewhere, young Grogu survives a clone trooper attack but is haunted by his memories of the event."
"Anakin obeys Sidious’ command and kills the Separatist leaders on Mustafar, shutting down their droid armies and ending the Clone Wars."

"On Coruscant, Yoda confronts Sidious and the two duel in the Senate Chamber, with Sidious hurling Senate pods at his Jedi enemy. Ascendant with dark-side power, Sidious proves too tough a foe for Yoda, who flees their duel, evading clone troopers sent to hunt him, and is whisked away by Bail Organa in an airspeeder. Sidious senses his new apprentice is in danger and hurries to Mustafar."
"Anakin is left maimed and burned after dueling Obi-Wan on Mustafar. Obi-Wan takes Anakin’s lightsaber and leaves him to die. Anakin survives and is encased in life-preserving black armor. As Darth Vader, he becomes the subject of rumors as the Emperor’s servant and enforcer"
Padme gives birth to Luke and Leia, then she dies. Bail Organa takes Leia to Alderaan and Obi-Wan takes Luke to the Lars' farm on Tatooine, going into exile there, while Yoda is on Dagobah.

"Sidious abandons Vader on the desert planet Gattering with orders to seize a Jedi’s lightsaber and make it his own. Vader travels to a dark-side locus on Mustafar and bends Infil’a’s kyber crystal to his will, making it bleed red. By compelling the Force to serve his purposes, Vader takes an essential step in his journey as a Sith."
"Sidious puts Vader in charge of the Inquisitors, Force users who once served the light but were seduced or brutalized into following the dark side and are now responsible for hunting down and killing the galaxy’s fugitive Jedi. Vader proves a ruthless taskmaster, brutalizing his new underlings in combat training sessions and eliminating those who fail to live up to the standards demanded by him and the Emperor."
"Sidious orders Vader to lure the Jedi Order’s fugitive archivist Jocasta Nu to Coruscant’s Jedi Temple and capture her. An enraged Vader kills Commander Fox after clone troopers under his command fire on the Sith Lord at the Jedi Temple. Nu explains to Vader what he’s failed to realize: Sidious wants the memory crystal and its list so he can find a potential replacement for his apprentice. Vader kills Nu, tells Sidious she died trying to escape, and crushes the crystal."
"The Empire builds up its forces and begins enlisting and training conscript stormtroopers to replace the Republic’s clone soldiers."
"The Empire bombards Kamino’s cities, destroying all traces of the cloning program that played a critical role in the Clone Wars."
SOURCES & NOTES:
Star Wars Timelines by Kristin Baver, Jason Fry, Cole Horton, Amy Richau, and Clayton Sandell is the primary source for much of this, anything in quotation marks is sourced from here unless otherwise noted. This timeline is only quoting a small minority of what's available in the book, so it's recommended that you check it out for yourselves!
I have done my best to put everything in order even within the specific years, noting where I'm not 100% sure of the sequence of events.
If a "c.[YEAR]" is included, the spot is estimated, not hard fact, but in general it's a pretty trustworthy placement! Except for birthdays--they're not placed directly on the timeline, so I just kind of threw them in at the end most times.
Observation: Holy crap, the Clone Wars was NUTS.

Sabine IS the best Mandalorian character of all time and I won’t accept any substitutes. She literally has it all. She is a punk tomboy lesbian who changes her hair and armor every season. She also has by far the coolest and most unique armor out of all of them, literally no contest. Her story arc is so good that another show just blatantly ripped it off. She defaces fascist propaganda with graffiti. Said graffiti is done with explosive spray-paint and she blows people up with it. She’s voiced by Mishti from Phineas and Ferb. Her father is voiced by Shang Tsung. Her ex-girlfriend is voiced by Vixen. Her brother is like the only fictional character I know of that has the same first name as me. Of all the people to use the Darksaber she’s the only one we know of besides Tarre Vizsla himself to have training from a Jedi Knight. She spray-painted the main villain’s personal assassin while he was unconscious just to humiliate him. She’s the reason Wedge Antilles joined the rebellion. She defeated the Imperial governor of Mandalore. BOTH of them. Darth Vader deflected a blaster bolt into her face and she lived to tell the tale. She told an art historian she was smarter than him to his face and she was right. She literally created the symbol of the fucking Rebel Alliance. She’s gay, she’s asian, and she’s popular. She is truly one of the characters of all time.

We and the Mandalorians were wrong about the Darksaber.
The legends of this sword talk about how it's meant to unite all Mandalorians. For some, it's just a lightsaber, heirloom, fancy tool, or symbol of power. But in reality, it's something created with the use of the Force. Force is important here. If you watch Star Wars you know it exists no matter how much some characters will say they don't believe it is.
The Darksaber was never meant to be the symbol of power. It belonged to the first Mandalorian Jedi. Someone who unites two worlds that fought each other for centuries. It was the ancient Mandalorians who gave this saber a different meaning, but it was its creator and the Force that gave the Darksaber purpose.
All the bad/hating comments you can see about the Darksaber plot being useless, or wasted potential are blind to those facts. I will say it just in case, I'm not a fan of how the Darksaber ownership was carried, BUT I do see the bigger picture here.
Favroni didn't want the Darksaber to carry the brutal legacy of ruthless Mandalorians, they wanted to show the true purpose of the Darksaber, the peaceful, uniting one. And the truth is, if not for the Darksaber, all of season 3 wouldn't take place.
Let's say, Bo fights Gideon, and she gets the Darksaber. Din and her telling each other goodbye, he goes to Boba, etc, and wants to be redeemed. What now? Hypothetically:
He drowned in the Living Waters or died because of that Borg creature.
There was a war between Gideon and Bo's forces that weren't that successful because she herself never reached the full potential in that scenario.
Several members of the covert get eaten daily.
Nevarro is occupied by pirates.
Ang so on…
The Darksaber was in Din's hands for a reason, but it wasn't the reason to make him the next Mand'alor, because that is what was adopted over the years when Mandalorians tried to define their own rules of what it means to be a Mandalorian. Din got it for its real reason to unite himself and the others. To put him on a path with his fellow, lost Mandalorian Princess.
Bo and Din lived different lives. Yet, they both are Mandalorians. It is often mentioned how the two groups hate each other. We can even see the hostility on screen. There are constantly reminding us how Mandalore fell because of their own divisions. New Mandalorians, Death Watch, Maulorians, Resistance Warriors, Children of The Watch… Shattered like stars in the galaxy.
Bo-Katan was the first one to break the circle of the constant battle over the power of the Darksaber. We now know she didn't want to challenge Din Djarin for the saber, even if she knew at the stake was everything she worked for. Bo saw beyond the brutal nature of the Darksaber's legacy, beyond the tool that in its signature brought death and power. She saw a human behind it.
With that, the Darksaber lost value for her. She said herself, that she was not sure if that blade will be enough to unite them all. Bo lost all the glorification she had for that weapon. Back in season 2, she was confident that with the Darksaber she will restore Mandalore to its former glory, but now she knows the Darksaber is not special when it comes to power. Because it's people that matter.
Her refusal to take the blade, or challenge Din was a catalyst for restoring the actual way of Mandalorians. The way of unification. From now on, her and Din's life was bound by the Darksaber. Just like the first owner Tarre Vizsla was bound with Mandalorians and Jedi.
The Force will find its way, always. Even if they don't believe in it. But the blade itself rejected Din, on purpose. He never wanted it and it was not his destiny. However, because he got the blade, it triggered a chain of events that resulted in his and Bo's lives crossing together, this time for good.
At the point when it didn't matter to both Din and Bo, the Darksaber was nothing, yet it was everything. As time passed Din and Bo grew to know each other, respect, and understand. They, Mandalorians of two opposite ends, working together, spending time together, being a great team, being stronger together.
They both learn from each other what it truly means to be Mandalorian. And it's not bloody fights every night, it's not killing your own people over differences. It's the care for family, for their tradition, their legacy. It has always been the care about Mandalore and its people.
The blade united Bo and Din, which brings us to a bigger picture here.
The blade won't unite all Mandalorians. But it united Din and Bo, who now are examples for everyone else to see that despite their differences they can work together. It is the relationship that they both developed with each other that is an example for others. Their actions, and what they represent. Both of them see beyond the Darksaber, they see the value of the people behind them. They ditched the fighting nature the old way and restored the blade's true purpose, making Din and Bo the contrast of reason against years of wars that led them to this point.
TLDR; The Darksaber is now uniting Mandalorians not through power, but through real noble values that should be the core of the new age for the Mandalorians. Its (Darksaber's) conflict united two opposite souls that are now the fundament for the future of Mandalore. The weapon was never about power or death, and Bo and Din restored its former purpose even if they aren't aware of it.

I love when the audience knows slightly more than the characters, the absolute drama I feel at knowing that the mystery mandalorian is tarre is amazing. And granta is CALLING HIM TARRE NOW?? Like this guy doesn’t feel the need to ask ANY prying questions, doesn’t even seem bothered by him only showing up when he’s alone and jaster and Myles just aren’t saying anything about this random guy with armor different than everyone (cause they clearly can’t see him) and granta doesn’t find that odd??? I love him - he’s clearly a bit of a mess. And Tarre is over here like just curious about his new husband and I just KNOW he’s being charmed by him. And hey, if they can overthrow current house vizsla while they’re falling in love, even better
xD In Granta's defense, he's had a rough few days. The whole next chapter is him trying to get answers and having clues dumped over his head, if that helps.

I have yet to actually see a single episode of Rebels. So aside from gifs I've seen of certain scenes (mostly Ahsoka running into Anakin as Vader and Maul's final fight with Obi-Wan), I have little to no knowledge of what actually happens in it.
Before I start watching it, however, I want to make a list of the things I think I know and then do a little compare and contrast sort of thing once I've completed it. No need to correct me if I'm wrong on anything and I will ask for no spoilers (for the time being), but we'll see how well that goes.
Anyway here's what I think happens in Rebels based on the gifs, fan art and random other fandom related shit I've absorbed through osmosis:
The main character is Ezra Bridger and apparently he gets a boyfriend near the end of the series??? Good for him.
Kanan is Caleb Dume, Depa's padawan. He's the fan favorite.
Kanan gets married to a Twi'lek Rebel fighter named Hera. I'm very happy for them both.
There's a Lasatt voiced by Joe DiMaggio. I think. I've heard there are a lot of fart jokes related to him. I'm really hoping there isn't.
Ezra goes Sith for a period. Or like flirts with the Dark Side? Idk something emo is going on with him.
Maul kidnaps Ezra and tries to make him his apprentice. I assume this is the part where Ezra goes emo boy mode.
Sabine becomes Manda'lor. And then gives the Darksaber to Bo-Katan. Who then isn't the Manda'lor because she didn't win it via mortal combat? Idk, man, Favroni are on one with this bullshit.
Tarre Vizsla gets introduced in Rebels and he is the only valid Vizsla (besides Paz) to ever exist. I refuse to stop stanning our canon Mandalorian Jedi. Don't ever change, Tarre!
I don't actually know who Sabine is, but her design is very reminiscent of mid 2000s "cool girl" character aesthetics and it feels sorta aged to me. Regardless of this, I'm assuming she's a great character as I haven't really seen anyone shitting on her.
Ezra and Sabine are in a relationship? Were in a relationship? No fucking clue.
I think Obi-Wan mercy kills Maul in front of Ezra????? If that's the case, Ezra would technically be among the few people to know that Obi-Wan's alive and where he's hiding. I'm going to assume he's just keeping his mouth shut?
I've heard that Sabine is a lesbian??? I have no fucking clue what she and Ezra got going on then, but in this house we stan all queer identities so whatevs.
Thrawn makes an appearance. I somehow knew about Thrawn being in Rebels, but literally nothing else. Which is weird 'cause I remember reading the books as a kid but I've retained no memory of them. Anyway, looking forward to seeing his blue ass.
I think Ahsoka gets her badass codename "Fulcrum" from the Rebels show. I will be very happy if this is true.
Hondo Ohnaka tries to sell one of the main crew. Idk who. And I don't even know if this is even true. But I know this little rat man and I would be shocked if he didn't attempt to do something.
Kanan is part werewolf. I have no fucking clue what the lore explanation for this is. I just keep seeing shit that says he's a werewolf and I refuse to budge on this until I figure out otherwise.

I honestly just love Sabine's arc of becoming the first Mandalorian Jedi since Tarre Vizsla. I love how it started with her finding his long lost Darksaber and using it not only reunite Mandalore but also face her inner demons. I feel like Ahsoka may have seen the potential of that legacy and what it could mean both for Mandalore and a new generation of Jedi, a way to bridge that ancient divide. That's why she took Sabine as her apprentice.
I am also so happy that she is fully force sensitive, I originally was hoping she would be like Chirrut Imwe and just have an underlying connection to force that aided her subtle ways, but honestly I am loving this more.
Sabine is my favorite character from rebels so to see her come so far and evolve so much is such a joy and I can't to see more
GIVE US SEASON 2 ALREADY DISNEY

YOU ARE BORED AND I AM IN YOUR ASKS.
What's the question you've been secretly hoping someone would ask you about one of your fics?? That thing only you know, that little detail, that easter egg, that thing that every writer has. ❤️
gosh i have so many little secrets but most of them will only get touched on in the future (in the mud fic, but also others)
usually it's related to the frankly absurd amounts of worldbuilding i've been doing for serenno specifically :P
but if i had to pick one thing that is very close to my heart its that the mandalorian spy on Coruscant in Meanwhile On Mandalore is Elan Sleazebaggano, aka the disgraced former med student that wanted to sell Obi-Wan deathsticks in canon.
there were only the vaguest of hints and its something that literally is just for me

She should have felt more, as she watched Korkie fall at the hands of Moff Gideon, as the same blade that had killed her sister now took the life of the last of her blood line; the last piece of existence that proved the only son of Clan Kryze had ever existed was felled.
Stormtroopers held her back with bodies pressing her into a crumbling wall, electro-staffs readied just centimeters away from her abdomen as she writhed against their hold. “Tell me, Lady Kryze,” The Moff’s voice dripped with venom as Bo-Katan bared her teeth at him. “What will your ancestors remember of this day?”
She sprung forward then, shaking the hands from her own as she surged into the staff of arcing electricity. Her gauntlet managed one short lived jet of fire before the paralyzing pain became too much, as bodies all pounced on the Mandalorian at once.
Pinned to the ground with Stormtroopers each taking one of her limbs, Bo-Katan was only able to spit a mouthful of blood onto his boots as he approached, the warbling of the darksaber like nails on a chalkboard in her ears. “You better pray I don’t get up this time around,”
The darksaber disengaged as Gideon crouched down to her level, pressing the ignition end of the hilt just under her chin as he twisted his lips into something like pity. “I’m counting on it, Mand’alor.”
As Imperials hauled her back to her feet, the Mandalorian struggled in their arms. “We had a deal!” She shouted to no avail, teeth bared as she cursed the man in every language her tongue could formulate.
Tumblr media
The bones in her hand were splintering under the enhanced strength that Gideon was given by his Beskar alloyed armor, mechanics whirring as bone and beskar were broken under his grip. She couldn’t shout, only her face twisting beneath the helmet as the darksaber was raised high in the air, blade flickering and sputtering as the Kyber was shattered in its casing.
Bo-Katan was forced to her knees under his grip, pain shooting up to her shoulder as she watched the ancient blade crumble. The saber was forced from her hand as he threw it to the ground, finally releasing her as it clattered to the ground. Her breaths came hard as she cradled her hand in front of her, on her knees before Moff Gideon once again.
Her helmet was forcibly ripped from her head and tossed to the side near the broken remains of Tarre Vizsla’s saber; The woman’s lips pulled into a snarl as she glared up at him once more, the same aching feeling that told her the fight is lost flooding through her veins once again.
“The darksaber is gone,” He announced haughtily through the vocoder of his helmet, slamming the staff into her abdomen and throwing her back.
When she caught herself, her weight landed on the shattered remains of her hand enough to have her breathing through her teeth as her body cashed into the durasteel platform.
It was a fight to raise her arm off the ground and keep her hand hovering as she struggled to rise. “You’ve lost everything,” Pushing off the ground and onto her knees, Bo glared at him through a veil of sweaty hair. “Mandalorian’s are weak, once they lose their trinkets.”
Inhaling slowly as he approached, Bo-Katan was able to school her expression, holding her hand back just enough so if and when he struck the next blow, she could save her agonized arm some trouble. “Mandalorians are stronger together.” She spat, working a muscle in her jaw as she raised her chin up at him; if she were to join the Manda today, it would be in a way honorable to her ancestors, than wasting away on Kalevala.
As the stolen fleet’s capital ship ignited the world around them, and as she slid in to use her shield to cover Grogu, Bo-Katan watched with abject satisfaction as Moff Gideon was swallowed alive in an inferno. My ancestors are smiling at me, Imperial. Can you say the same?
Evacuating the survivors from the smoldering carnage had been hard work; harder so with only one working hand, though on her fifth trip back to the surface, a gloved hand had stopped the Niteowl’s mechanical rescue mission. Someone took the Mandalorian from her side as she finally managed to raise her gaze from the worn down path in front of her.
The screaming pain in her hand had dulled into a bone deep ache hours ago, easy enough to ignore once she was in the routine of pulling survivors from the carnage or dragging the dead someplace more respectful than where they’d fallen. She could even argue that the pain was gone, had The Armorer not stopped her mid-mission.
She could feel the judgemental gaze beneath the darkened visor, and yet, it did not ignite the fire in her blood that it may have once had. Her hand was gentle when she reached to touch the Niteowl’s arm, and only then was she reminded of the agonizing pain, of the bones in her hand that sat shattered in their sleeve of flesh and torn tissue.
Something childish deep inside wanted to drop to her knees with the pain, to ask for the help she knew she needed, and to sleep; Krif, she just wanted to sleep. Korkie was avenged, Mandalore was reclaimed, and the weapon that took her family away was demolished, so why was she still here? Hadn’t she done enough? Was there more to atone for, after all this time?
Her nose twitched in response to the pain; she was a Mandalorian, she had to be a Mandalorian, if she showed these people she was anything less, then it would all be for nothing, after all that time chasing away the looming demand of ‘dar’manda’ in her dreams, she could not settle to slip up and ruin this now, not if she would not be granted the glory in death.
“What?” Bo-Katan croaked dumbly, growing anxious under the continued scrutiny. This was it, after all that; no one would argue with The Armorer if she were to throw Bo-Katan out. She would be done.
“You appear to be injured,” The Armorer stated, as if Bo-Katan did not feel the damage to her abdomen or the splintered bone in her hand with each passing second.
“I’m fine,” She shot back too quickly, biting her tongue as she forced her hand down from the cradled position against her armor, biting back the winces into her tongue until the metallic taste of blood was flooding her mouth. “I need to get the others,” Her departure was stopped by a hand on her bicep, squeezing just enough against inflamed nerves to have her crying out, spots flashing through her vision and knees trembling to keep herself up as her hand was brought back to her chest.
“You need the med bay.” Again, a simple answer, a simple answer that could lead to the end of Bo-Katan’s very short reign as Mand’alor.
The Armorer released her hand and started walking, clearly expecting to be followed.  Refusing to hang her head in defeat, Bo-Katan squared her shoulders, raised her chin, and followed paces behind the woman to the overflowing medical tents.
Mandalorians were stuffed into the tents to the brim, curtains pulled to offer the children of the watch some form of privacy as they were treated for burns and injuries from the mountains of debris. The Armorer stopped Bo-Katan at the entrance to the tent with a hand on her chest, disappearing into the throngs of people to get… whatever the krif she was looking for.
She could feel eyes on her as others shuffled in and out, though she didn’t spare anyone a glance, even as Din passed with a hand on her shoulder and Grogu reached out towards her; couldn’t bear to look at them if this went how she thought it would.
The Armorer returned after what felt like hours, with the line of their injured moving sluggishly past her. The pain in her hand went numb once more, at least. The Armorer moved past Bo-Katan smoothly, only offering her an acknowledgment when the woman didn’t follow, prompting her to fall into step at her side once more.
They walked for miles, back into the destruction of Sundari, through caverns and tunnels, and into the caves of the Living Waters. “Sit,” The Armorer commander, and she did, dropping herself heavily into the dirt in front of the inscripted pillar, pebbles scratching at her armor and falling between her beskar plates and flight suit.
The other woman was much more graceful when she took her place in front of Bo-Katan, kneeling steadily in front of her as the redhead kept her gaze turned on the water. “What are you convinced is going to happen, Lady Kryze?”
“Like you don’t know,”
“I don’t, may I see your hand?” Laying out the supplies she’d grabbed from the tents, The Armorer grabbed her hand when Bo-Katan offered the shaking extremity, gentle as she removed the woman’s gauntlet and pushed back the sleeve of her flight suit.
Silence hung thick in the air, only broken by the sharp sounds of pain as her glove was slowly cut away, revealing the swollen mess of bones and bruises that had become her dominant hand. “Karabast,” The redhead’s nose twitched, swallowing dry air thickly as The Armorer settled her hand in her lap.
“Lady Kryze?” The Armorer prodded once more as she dug through her supplies, head turning to watch as the woman studied her hand.
“I assume…” Her lips turned into a scowl. This was like the forge on Nevarro all over again; being asked to make herself vulnerable, being asked to take the step that she knew had others declared dar’manda by the Children of the Watch. “That my time is done..” It sounded like a question, like prodding The Armorer to offer that blanket of security that she had then, too. Instead, the woman’s head turned to stare at her.
“Do you want it to be done?” She finally questioned as she readied a stimshot at Bo-Katan’s wrist.
“No, of course not, ah-!” The pain from the stimshot was soothed by the warm tingle of the medicine getting to work. “I served my purpose,” Bo-Katan pushed on, talking to fill the silence, staring at the low-light reflected in the golden helmet as she felt the woman ready the bio-cast and prepare to snap her bones back into place. “Satine and Korkie are avenged, Mandalore belongs to Mandalorians again, and Gideon is dead. That’s… well, it’s all I’ve-” She was cut off by the pressure and the delayed pain from bones being slipped back into place with a sick sound, her head dropping back against the stone as her other hand shot out to fist into The Armorer’s fur cape.
Strong hands settled on her elbows to steady her once the cast was secured, anchoring her back down as darkness ebbed at her vision. “Fuck!” She shouted, voice echoing off the cavern walls once she could breathe again. “Do you not wish to be Mand’alor?” The Armorer questioned, taking Bo-Katan’s attention away from the pain as she injected half of the contents of a stim shot into her hand, soothing some of her pain.
“No,” A tired blink as she looked down at the casing around her hand- still bruised and swollen, but now the bones clearly sat where they were meant to be as the cast continued to press and shift her hand back in place. The expressionless stare she was leveled with urged her to continue. “When I joined the Death Watch, it was because I didn’t agree with my sister, The Duchess Satine; I didn’t think her ideas were right for our people… I still don’t, entirely; But there was a lot she was right about that I never wanted to see, I blinded myself for Pre Vizsla, thought he was the best of us,”
Bo-Katan scoffed, not realizing The Armorer was cradling her hand in one of her own, and still holding her elbow with the other.
“Everything went downhill when he enrolled us with the Separatists, betrayed them, and then found two dar’jetti to enlist into our cause; Darth Maul and his brother Savage.” The woman’s good hand raised to rub at the column of her throat. “Maul won the darksaber and killed Pre- finally opened my eyes. From there, it was a fight to return Mandalore to our people; one that we’ve never truly been able to accomplish until today.”
“Without you, do you believe we would have?”
“Yes. Somehow, someway. I never saw it happening in my life, but I swore not to die until I saw these things through to the end.”
“And now that you have, are you ready to die?”
Bo-Katan’s eyes flickered to the waters, thinking of the great beast hidden in the depths. “No.”
The leather on her face was warm, soft in places, though calloused much like she imagined the hands beneath to be. The Armorer’s hand radiated warmth as she cupped the redhead’s face, thumb stroking across her dirt smeared cheekbone in a moment of weakness. “Then nobody has the right to ask you to leave your home or your people; and we will protect your right to stay and to rule, so long as you find yourself capable of doing so.”
Bo’s head turned, catching the pad of the other woman’s thumb on her lips, breathing in the smell of gunpowder, fire, and plasma with each measured breath. “Thank you,” It was all she could say, the only way she could fill in the words of a lifetime of fears and doubts, forged by war after war, both of her own design, and someone else's.

Hey Lumi! I've been loving your Bo-Katan commentary and have appreciated the way you make connections to previous content from Clone Wars and Rebels, pointing out lots of things I would have missed otherwise! So I hope you don't mind a lore question. Has Bo-Katan ever been referred to as a "princess" before this episode? I was confused when she said that, since Satine was a Duchess, and I hadn't ever gotten the impression that Mandalore was a strict hereditary monarchy, but that the houses would rise and fall. I got nothing from reading Wookiepedia so I'm hoping you can shed some light!
Hi! Thank you, I'm glad the Bo-Katan commentary has been entertaining! I have to admit, I've fallen back in love with Mean Wife, she is so mean and so great! Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to help much with the Mandalorian stuff because there's really not a lot about it in canon. Legends probably covered a bunch of stuff, but The Mandalorian is not part of the Legends continuity, so who knows what Favreau is going to do with this. I'm not sure we really know how Mandalore's royalty situation worked out, why Satine was Duchess instead of Queen, if there's a functional difference, if it's one of those situations like where Padme was Queen of Naboo, but it was an elected position, that maybe terms don't mean the same thing in Star Wars as they do in our universe, and "Duchess" means "Queen" to them, etc. All of that is speculation! I did get the impression that Satine's position was hereditary because she came into that position when she was very young, given the age she and Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon were on the run, but if she'd been elected, she wouldn't still be Duchess and she probably would have been more popular at that time. But also because House Kryze was established as a thing (like House Vizsla) in TCW, which is hereditary as well, if we're going by how long House Vizsla has history all the way back to at least Tarre Vizsla. But a lot of that is based on the vibes I got from how characters acted and how there was nothing mentioned of rises and falls or elections, like Pre Vizsla didn't become the Duke of Mandalore, instead it fell to the Prime Minister that he was puppet mastering, despite that Pre was from House Vizsla, which has a long, long history with Mandalore. So, the "Princess" line threw me, but I'm just assuming that, yeah, the Kryze family was royalty and that we're not meant to take "Princess" super literally in a 1:1 relation to our own world or that maybe she was Princess of Kalevala, but Duchess/Duke was a separate role that a person from House Kryze inherited. (And should have passed to Bo-Katan on Satine's death, but the political upheaval on Mandalore was too chaotic and they weren't willing to rally around Bo-Katan at the time.) Really, though, it's impossible to say, we don't know nearly enough about canon to say what the term "Princess" means or if Favreau doesn't care and just threw it in there because it sounded good. Never underestimate the power of something sounding good. XD

My controversial thought of the day:
It should have been Sabine: A Star Wars Story instead of Ahsoka. Set it up so that some cataclysmic event unlocks the Force potential she's been stuffing down since toddler-hood; it's kinda dumb, but at least it would explain why it was never mentioned or hinted at during Rebels ("Oh, BTW, Dumbledore was gay").
Having "sudden" Force powers is confusing and disorienting and has her questioning a whole lot about her life, her role in the universe, and what should happen next. She calls on her old friend Ahsoka for help. That's how you get Snips involved.
The show could focus on the history of the Mandalorians, their conflicts with the Jedi, and of course, Tarre Vizsla. Can Sabine balance both parts of herself? Does she want to? How does she resolve this internal conflict? Can she still be a Mandalorian even though she has the Force? Even Tarre eventually had to leave the Jedi in order to be Mand'alor.
In my wild daydreamy vision we could've seen different aspects of Mandalorian culture and traditions, and not just the "warrior" stuff. We could've met other Mandos, maybe even non-human ones, since they're supposed to exist. We could learn that there's more to the Mandalorians than endless war and violence. Or at least their was until the Empire came.
Sabine learning to embrace all the parts of herself would have made a great story, and you could still have the other stories/characters threading in as well. Just... dang, the potential. If only more people were interested in her and knew she existed. If only Felony wasn't weirdly obsessed with Ahsoka, instead.
Anyway, yeah, that's my wooden nickel's worth.

I'm gonna just say, destorying the Darksaber is such a bad idea. It was so much more then a tool for Din (or Bo Katans) character.
Its an ancient cultural symbol created by a Mandalore who forged it to bind his status of Mandalorian with that of his abilities with the force. During a time where conflict between then was still rampant.
It's worth more then a status symbol, it's an artifact of great significance that shows the symbolism of "uniting conflicting forces under a leader who brings people together". And to just destory it without ever even agnowledging how insanely important such a weapon truly is to these people, and to completely disregard its history of why Tarre Vizsla forged it in the first place.
You can say it's good so they can become a leader all on their own, but that was the point. Just having it didn't make you a leader. You had to prove why you should yeild it. Do you understand what it takes to be Mandalore and you will be worthy of yeilding this ancient artifact. Din having it didn't make him a leader of these people, he was learning to be one. And Bo failed three times at being a leader with it, proving that owning the Darksaber alone isn't enough.
Its more important then just for the development of two lone characters. Its an ancient artifact not a random sword and you are doing the Mandalorian culture and history an insensive disrespect by pretending they are better off without the one thing that served as a symbol of a united Mandalorian people.
They can learn to be a leader without it, obviously. But its more important then that and you are ignoring that in favour of trying to blindly defend every bad choice this season has made.
