I feel like Bracken/Brackendra had the potential to be like. Not Weird if Brandon Mull actually wrote it that way. Like if he had actually made it so that Bracken was actually mentally 17 and not a full grown unicorn (see: Bracken having his third horn and reaching "maturity") and made Kendra, well, not 14 when they met. Brandon Mull seems to go back and forth on whether or not its weird for them to have feelings for eachother (it is, at least the way Brandon wrote it). In ROTDS when Ronodin proposes to Kendra, she's like "omg ew,,ur so much older than me" and then. Calls Bracken her boyfriend. You know. The guy thats the same age as Ronodin.
When Bracken first appeared in the prison with Seth, I actually really liked him. He was witty and actually had some personality. But then when Kendra met him, all his personality became reduced to "ok guys let’s give Kendra a straight love interest because we killed the last one in the previous book". I just feel like the two Brackens we met are so different in terms of how they interact with the story. Sorry for ranting but as a previous Brackendra girlie its just interesting to think about

Hi, just want to come on here and say,
IF YOU DONT LIKE SOMEONE ON HERE, KEEP IT TO YOURSELF.
Especially I'd they’ve done nothing to you.
Like 1: no one cares about your opinion of someone on the internet that they or you are not personally familiar with
2: your opinion is hurting those who you know nothing about.
I'm just so sick and tired of my friends either being bullied or shit on by ppl who are acting all high and mighty on fucking tumblr. Its not that that hard to keep ppls names and stuff put of your mouth. Just read and write your fanfic and go about your own business, thx 😘

Saw someone say they were angry at Caroline for not fighting for Klaus during TVD.... DUDE SHE OBVIOUSLY WASNT GONNA FIGHT FOR HIM. HE was the one courting HER. And during that courtship he tried to kill her twice, killed her boyfriend's mom and had previously killed her best friend and her aunt. SHE WOULD'VE BEEN A FOOL TO NOT BE SCARED OF HIM. like wtf? Caroline isn't stupid. She was and I quote "intrigued" but before she could ever give him a chance he had to show actual GROWTH and earn her respect because she knew her value (obviously she lost sight of it when she started dating stefan)
One of the things that makes Klaroline so good is the fact that she never pretended he was something he wasn't. She always called him out and never compromised her morals for him. She stayed true to who she was and he fell for her anyway and he changed on his own accord. That's why they work. Because she knows who he is and when he was a villain she treated him as such and expected him to act as such and when he wanted to be" friends" with her (after 4x14 when he realized he would never be able to kill her or harm her again) she explained what she expected of him and she wasn't gonna settle for less. AND SHE DIDN'T! She wasn't swayed by pretty things or pretty words. SHE WAS SWAYED BY ACTIONS

Damon was incredibly protective and loving of Bonnie and ended up being her soulmate in the books, and the tvd writers thought “Hm, let’s make him a complete asshole to her throughout the entire show and hurt her at every given opportunity.” They took one look at how Stefan and Bonnie’s friendship was progressing throughout S1-S2 and decided to completely retcon it and started having him disregard her the same way everyone else did. You see, none of the main male characters were allowed to have actual meaningful connections with her because god forbid Bonnie be considered a potential love interest for them and not their self inserts. Damon can’t even tell Bonnie he loves her without them making sure to include “The same way Elena loved you.”
It’s the same reason why they didn’t have Bonnie attend the Mikaelson ball even though her being there made more sense than Matt or Caroline attending since the literal hostess was going to be siphoning her bloodline’s magic. She couldn’t be seen dressed up in a pretty gown like the other girls and dance with any of the male characters because again, god forbid Bonnie be held in the same regard as the other girls and ever thought of as a potential love interest for anyone besides throw away characters. It’s the same with Bonnie not interacting with any of the Mikaelson’s outside of her protecting the MFG from them. There are numerous connections between the Mikaelson’s and the Bennetts. Ayana Bennett was Esther’s mentor and seemed to be incredibly close to all her children. Abby desiccated Mikael, Esther wanted to use the Bennett Bloodline. Yet, not once are these connections explored. These could have potentially been some of the best storylines in the show, but that would have required the writers to not be prejudice and have biases towards certain characters.
But all this begs the question…if you’re going to make a character black or a poc so you can meet the diversity requirements, yet still neglect their character and use them as nothing but a shield to your white characters, then what is the point? Because I have no doubt that if they kept Bonnie’s race the same, she would have gotten the same opportunities as the other girls and wouldn’t be seen as just a mule. She would have still been poorly written, not debating that, but she would have been treated entirely differently by the writers and the fans.

Pierre gets so much flak...
...for being a bad shopkeeper
...for taking credit for your produce
...for being a bad husband.
BUT...
He really doesn't deserve all of it.
Let's break this down.
He is a small businessowner in a small community, struggling to compete against the BIG CORPORATE store, Joja. He has to get his products from somewhere and he is proud to be locally sourced (and you willing participate in this system as the Farmer unless you chose another route). Keep in mind. The man goes around to collect things from bins between when you go to bed and 6am. And he still gets up and runs his business the next day. I want to know when he sleeps, poor dude. (EDIT: My bad... I skipped the intro on my last few playthroughs and forgot it is Lewis who collects your stuff. Then again, Lewis could be getting a cut of whatever he "sells" to Pierre or he could be stealing from your profits, which just further proves the Mayor's shady side). Also, I think it's completely normal/natural to be proud of his little shop. He's worked hard unlike... *cough cough* Mayor Lewis, I'm looking at you.
I'm not a small business owner, but I am friends with a few. Running a business is hard, especially when you don't have much help. Abigail is pretty focused on her own stuff, and Caroline hosts fitness classes, but otherwise, she is a stay-at-home mom/housewife and takes long walks (to stare at nothing, mind you). They could be a bit more grateful or pitch in a little more. He seems to have an exclusive contract (except for the Grange Day event/Night Market) to sell at festivals, outside his normal hours, which is a good way for him to make extra cash. He probably needs it to keep up on his property taxes (home/business) and all the other business expenses, and let's be honest, keep Abigail/Caroline comfortable.
He doesn't have other employees, which is actually semi-believable in a town this size. This means that Pierre has to do all the work: find the merchandise, write up contracts, collect the merch, display the merch, ring up sales, pay taxes, manage the books, maintenance/ repairs, and the marketing (via the mail, what little he can, and direct mailings aren't cheap; this I know from working at a small company IRL). I'm probably forgetting an overhead expense. Small businessowners/people who work for themselves often do end up putting in more time/more effort than other types of workers... because they HAVE to. There's no one else to do it. It's long grueling hours, often a thankless job, and when you're competing against a bigger business, it is that much harder. No wonder the guy closes on Wednesdays. He deserves a day off, people.
And at least he is working to provide for his family and a service to the community.
(What are you doing, Mayor? Making statues of yourself???)

Reasons I Hate Hayley
So people have been about some reasons to hate Hayley, so I made this:
Attitude. She kept going around acting like she as better than the Mikelsons - she wasn't - she wasn't better physically, financially, or intellectually. And the whole werewolves are "noble" and "strong" creatures, is complete BS.
they literally trigger there curse by killing someone - so their standing on sand in that moral ground
without witch intervention - their only deadly to vampires on full moons.
Killing. Her hands are just as bloody as anyone elses on the show, and she acts like she's completely innocent. Ex. Davina asked her to kill ONE witch, and Hayley decided she wanted to create another expression triangle.
Mother. Everyone treats her as if she was this standard for motherhood, when
she tried to kill her kid
She put the kid in danger multiple times during her pregnancy running into danger like an idiot - like why don't you drink some bear and smoke some pot on top of that - it would honestly do less damage than running around like an idiot.
I've done the math of when Caroline opens the school and Hayley sends Hope to boarding school and she literally did it as SOON as it opened! Like yeah, I'm going to send my kid who likely has a mountain of trauma alone over state lines.
Characters - They literally made other characters appear weak just so she could appear "badass".
Mikael, no, she can't take on the 1000 year old vampire that made the rest of the originals go running.
No, her enemies - hundred of years old vampire don't respect her - she ain't all that.
And NO, she's not someone Klaus fears, the only way she scares is him is his frightening sudden urge to get checked for supernatural STDs!
"Female empowerment" - She was supposed to be this strong female character who took charge, but she had no strong female qualities.
She was physically weak
relied on the mikaelsons for power, wealth, and housing
demanding and spoiled
relied on the men around her for her position: Klaus, Elijah, even Jackson
Quick Note: Caroline > Hayley On the other hand we have Caroline. Miss Mystic Falls, 4.0 GPA, Headed tons of committees and was a strong leader. Had tremendous growth and was relatable as a character.
Hayley was a pancake flat character. She had no growth, stayed the same throughout the show, it was always: Me, myself, and I with her, and on occasion "Elijah, Klaus, Jackson" look at me (that's why I said pancake - she had a slight curve in her character with which man she was screaming at for the week).
Queen - she called herself a werewolf queen which I hated. Werewolfs don't/shouldn't have queens! There werewolves, it means wild, a force of nature, pack animal. It should have been Alpha, not Queen! So her going around calling herself Queen just triggered me.
Overall, Hayley was an annoying, childish character, that brought nothing to the plot yet the writers insisted on shoving her down our throats. She was a poorly executed Mary Sue, unnecessary, cringy, and just painful to watch on screen. I have read Harry Potter and would honestly rather be in detention with Umbridge than in a room with Hayley.
Reasons I Do Not Hate Hayley: Klaroline. She was never a threat to the ship, she was a druken one night stand, nothing more. Like she may have been the reason Klaus went to New Orleans - because she got knocked up, but she was never a threat to the ship herself.
Well, whoever made it to the end, thanks for reading. Honestly, this rant was more for me, I've been seeing way to much Hayley content on my youtube page my tumblr for some reasons and I really needed to went.
KLAROLINE FOR LIFE, BECAUSE I WILL GO DOWN WITH THIS SHIP!!!

TVD S5 EP11&12 (mostly a rant about Tyler and Caroline)
Tumblr media
I'm not even gonna talk about the first 10 episodes, Silas was annoying AF I'm glad he's dead. Also, Katherine as a human was hilarious.
Tyler deserved better. I said it. I never really understood the Tyler hate. Like, yeah he was a douche in S1 but if we're judging him by his S1 personality shouldn't we all hate Caroline by that logic? Cause she was kind of a bitch in S1.
Caroline sleeping with Klaus...yeah no I don't even know what to say. I knew it was coming, just didn't know when. It was dumb and just didn't really make any sense to me. I was never really on board with them, to begin with.
Why did Klaus come back to MF in the first place? To see Katherine dying? Anyways... It always felt to me like Klaus was being really pushy and trying to flirt with Care when she was obviously not into it (she seemed pretty content and happy with Tyler)
Like sir, you have a whole ass baby on the way (idk what happened with that storyline cause the Mikaelsons went to New Orleans and I'm not watching TO rn) and you're here in MF trying to hook up with a girl who repeatedly told you she wasn't interested. Dare i say, you look kind of pathetic.
Tyler my boy, you deserve better, you really do. And then, when he hears Care talking to a Katherine-possessed Elena about Klaus he is obviously heartbroken.
Look, Care, I like you, I really do, but I can't defend you on this one. It's preposterous to me that she's the one acting all shocked when Tyler gets upset. Like, you slept with the man who ruined his life, who killed your best friend's aunt (RIP Jenna you will always be missed), and oh, killed his mother! (RIP Carol you were innocent)
Also, this might just be me, but did everyone forget that Klaus was gonna kill Care in the sacrifice ritual thing back in S2? Maybe I'm just really bad at letting things go but I would never get over that? Like I would never want to be friends let alone anything more with a person who brought so much suffering to me and my friends.
You almost died because of him, twice! Damn it Caroline, where are your morals!?
Call it a moment of weakness I guess, but still, it was hella stupid. And then Stefan defends Caroline? Like no don't defend her she did a stupid thing!
Tyler is my guy and I like him. I understand not liking his character but you cannot seriously say that he was in the wrong in this situation. He had every right to be upset. And Caroline was stupid for what she did. Maybe it's because Klaus said "You'll never see me again" so she thought "fuck it, I might as well since he'll be gone for good" but still dumb af
The show has been off the rails since S4 it can only be worse from here lol

Marcel is a Mikaelson. He does not have to call himself a Mikaelson as he is fully within his rights to denounce the very toxic family but he is one.
I hate the way the show treated him, I hate the way the characters treated him, and I hate that he is involved with Rebekah. I hate the way he and Hope are only kinda sorta siblings.
1. The show:
So we know Julie Plec is very much a white liberal. We know this. We know she has sexism issues, we know she has racism issues (black women will save us all, really Julie????). I don't know which of her multitude of biases made her (and the rest of the writers) think that the way they wrote Marcel and the Mikaelson's relationships with him, was normal (or like normal in the context of the show). But boy howdy.
The plantation house. We're just going to have the Mikaelsons move into the house where Marcel was owned as a slave????? That's what we're gonna do?????? And where his abusive biological father lived and y'know, abused him. Fucking what the fuck?? I feel like this just epitomises the way the show treats Marcel.
2. The characters:
The family never treats him as part of the family unless they want something from him.
They did not raise him as a son and it is weird and terrible and he was a child!!!!! Why did you adopt him if you didn't want a child???
Why is Klaus so scared of having Hope if he's already had a child?
Why does Klaus treat Marcel the exact same way Mikael treated him just because they're not blood related?? (if they actually explored this it could have been interesting but no they just only half treat Marcel as a Mikaelson).
YOU'RE TELLING ME THEY DIDN'T CHECK?? THEY DIDN'T CHECK HE WAS DEAD????? Not once in the 80+ years did Klaus or Elijah go back to New Orleans or even send someone to fucking check that his SON was really dead??? Didn't think to do that???? No???
3. Rebekah:
Oh my god what do I even say about Rebekah?
They could have at least made her be daggered for the time when he was a child and only meet him when he was already an adult and a vampire because that way she's only technically his aunt and not a full fucking adult who saw him grow up!!!!!!!!
Hope:
Idk man, they were siblings. Let them be siblings. The whole thing in Legacies where the Mikaelsons just kind of left Hope alone? Weird. Bonkers. Batshit. I know it's because they couldn't get the actors but maybe think about that before writing your fucking show my guy.
Or in TO where Hope was just left alone and Klaus was not there as a dad for like 5(?) years.
Hayley was the only good parent on The Originals or Legacies canon, fight me.
(side note, you're telling me Caroline would leave Alaric, Alaric, an alcoholic, vampire-hating, weirdo (Caroline and Alaric being romantically involved briefly WAS WEIRD GUYS, WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK HE USED TO BE HER FUCKING TEACHER) in charge of the school for supernatural children??
You're telling me she left him in charge of parenting Lizzie and Josie?? Yeah okay sure.
And look how well that turned out. Locking teenagers in goddamn prison worlds, excellent headmastering there Alaric well done. And just swell parenting of the twins. Favouring Hope over them at all times and letting them bully each other weirdly for years and allowing your mentally ill children to just get more mentally ill from your parenting. Great moves. Very good.
Okay Legacies rant over)
Yeah okay my whole rant is over I think.
TL;DR: Marcel deserved better.
(and so did the kids on Legacies.)
Also PSA, the only reason I have so many feelings about this is because I like the freaking shows okay? I like the characters (except Alaric and Damon and the ones we're supposed to dislike like Mikael and Esther).

Otis, if you believe that Klaroline shouldn’t have become a couple because Klaus is a murderer and has killed other people’s family members even though Caroline is a murderer herself and has killed someone’s aunt/sibling/son & daughter then you need to log off.
If you believe that klaroline was too “abusive,” but have no problem with Caroline raising Alaric’s children, being forced to carry his dead wife’s children without her consent, the pregnancy nearly killing her just so she could save Alaric from his pain. Did I forget to mention the fact that she almost married Alaric? Let’s be real, y’all were mad because he was her ex teacher, not because he killed her father and tortured her when she was a teenager. Her becoming the mother of his children was disturbing as fuck and ruined her character. Period. Plec just wanted a chance to show off her misogyny.
Like I said before, y’all had no issue with Caroline marrying her abuser’s(Damon) brother and being branded as Stefuckboy’s true love. Y’all had no issue with her becoming besties with Damon. Y’all had no issue with Damon officiating that mid ass wedding. 🤨 Did y’all suddenly forget that when she “married” the Rippah, Damon became her brother in law? Let’s not forget that the person desperately claim is Caroline’s “true love” did nothing to help her when she was getting abused by Damon in season one just because he wanted no issues with him and Elena. Y’all must have selective memory or something.
“Caroline would be betraying Elena and Tyler. Klaus killed…”
When Elena tried to kill Liz, it was crickets. Complete silence. I didn’t see nobody mad about that. Let’s get something straight, Caroline owes Elena no loyalty. Elena went as far to get into a relationship with Caroline’s abuser, and even slutshamed Caroline for Damon SA'ing her. And Caroline was coming from a concerned place for her friend. The hell is wrong with y’all?! Why give loyalty to Elena when it was never reciprocated?
Another thing, I’ve talked this conversation to death. Caroline and Tylah were broken the fuck up. What she does with her own coochie is HER business. She did not owe him any loyalty. They were not friends, or anything. She doesn’t owe him a motherfucking thing. I didn’t see anybody mad that Tylah came back and had sex with Caroline before even telling her that he was leaving again. He had every right to want to avenge his mother. And Caroline had every reason to drop that wack ass relationship and do what the fuck she wanted. And for the ditsy dumbasses comparing the situation as if it were Liz, y’all are the same people that did not care about Damon becoming friends with Caroline’s mother, or speaking at Liz’s funeral. Wasn’t Damon bragging about raping Caroline to Stefan and Alaric? Wasn’t Damon the last person to speak to Liz before she died? Sick as fuck. Y’all didn’t say anything about Elena trying to kill Liz either.
Lastly, if you believe that Caroline was in the wrong for celebrating Klaus’s demise in season three then you’re not only Otis but boo boo the fool. 🤡 Go take a nap.

thoughts on Caroline?
What to say about Caroline?
She's a massively important character to the franchise, but she barely speaks. She's constantly present in the story, but she's only acknowledged a handful of times. She's everywhere and nowhere, she's everything and nothing at all.
She's GLaDOS, but she isn't, or is she?
Depending on your perspective of Caroline, we either know a lot about her personality or next to nothing.
I think my initial impression of Caroline as a character was much more negative because it was shaped by fanon interpretation.
It's probably not a huge secret that I don't enjoy c/aveline, and that WAS the majority of Caroline content for a long time. I honestly kind of resented that ship, partially because it practically became a given that where there's Old Aperture, there's this ship. These two who barely interacted were EVERYWHERE, and I always got the feeling that the only reason they were popular as a couple was because it's a m/f ship, and the Portal fandom was practically beside itself with excitement to focus on any male character.
I'm not here to ship-bash, if that's your cup of tea, good for you. But personally? Not for me, and it negatively colored my perception of her for a while. It felt a bit like she was a character defined by fanon more than anything else, just there to be in a relationship with Cave (healthy or otherwise) just so it can end in tragedy when he puts her into the robot. I understand why people might enjoy that, but I've always felt like it cheapens GLaDOS's (and by extension, Caroline's) story to make it all amount to just 'being the girlfriend of a mad scientist and tragically paying the price.'
Cave's a creep! He, in my opinion, probably thought his relationship with Caroline was much more friendly than it was. She responds to him like a secretary who knows how to please her boss— "Yes sir Mr. Johnson!"— but nothing personal. She was probably nice and polite because she was a secretary, and look at the era she lived in. If she wasn't all sweet and cheery, Cave probably would've told her to smile more.
So does that mean I think she's the opposite of what we hear? Is she sadistic and cruel like GLaDOS is? No, I'm not saying that either. I'll get into who and what I think Caroline is in a second, but above all else I wanted to point out my frustration with how she's portrayed in connection to Cave. Making her Cave's love interest is boring and bland to me, basing their connection off of the same level of friendliness from her that I've shown to people working in customer service. It's just part of the job.
For Caroline herself? I'm also not a fan of 'evil Caroline' takes. I mean I love a girlboss, but it sort of misses the point here. If Caroline was always evil, sadistic, and scheming, it waters down GLaDOS and her development. If Caroline is too similar to GLaDOS, it takes away from the weight of who and what GLaDOS is. If they’re too dissimilar, it’s difficult to imagine the connection between them.
The fandom was so obsessed with the incorrect— and stupid— idea that Caroline is Chell’s mother that it missed the much more obvious metaphor under their noses. Caroline is GLaDOS’s mother.
Cut from the same cloth, GLaDOS is born of her, but she isn’t her. Without Caroline, GLaDOS would never exist, but it would be absurd to say that GLaDOS is the same person that Caroline is. GLaDOS grew, changed, and became who we saw at the end of Portal 2 much in the same way that anyone grows into being their own person, not a copy of their parents.
Here I go talking about GLaDOS in this ask about Caroline— it’s impossible not to.
If you want my personal take on Caroline?
I think she was a smart woman, keeping up with the actions of a madman and holding her head above the flood of insanity. I think she was able to look the other way when she had to, anyone who worked at Aperture needed that dubious morality. That being said, I think she had a heart. We can all debate until we die whether or not GLaDOS was remotely truthful at the end of Portal 2 about deleting her, but I think there’s a reason she attributed her act of compassion to Caroline— it wasn’t Caroline forcing her hand (claw?) via possession, but rather, she is the only framework GLaDOS has to reference that feeling. That scene is definitely GLaDOS projecting her own emotions onto someone else to avoid confronting them, but I don’t think she would make that comparison for no reason, Caroline might have been how she learned that emotion, even if the feeling is all her own.
Ultimately, Caroline is a character we will only really ever understand through the lens of other characters. We can only try to extrapolate who she is from what we see and hear, but she will likely always be a bit of a mystery. She’s the ghost haunting this franchise, and I kind of love her for it.

Hi! This is maybe sort of a dull question but one I think about. What are your thoughts on Stefan & Caroline's friendship as compared to Bonnie & Damon's?
this isn’t a dull question at all! i actually loved both of their friendships in tvd, but it always felt like stefan and caroline’s was set up to be romantic but the writers just forgot that was what they were trying to do so they rushed steroline as a relationship last minute. i could tell from s4 that they were being set up, and i feel like i would’ve enjoyed steroline as a ship more had they been given more time. however, it was just another poorly executed part of the last couple seasons.
bonnie and damon had such a sweet friendship, their friendship was one of the few things i liked about seasons 7 and 8. they had such a good storyline and evolution over time, and damon and bonnie looking out for each other after the loss of elena while still having to cope with the fact bonnie and elena were connected to each other in the spell was such an interesting dynamic to see. i don’t understand the bonnie and damon shippers though i must say; their friendship never felt like it was meant to be anything more, plus it would be so out of character for both bonnie and damon considering the utmost love and respect they have for elena.
kat and ian aswell as paul and candice just had incredible chemistry and acting in these roles, which just made both friendships feel so real and i absolutely loved it.

A run-on sentence and the use of the same word random word more than once in that sentence will kill my interest in any fic faster than anything else. Please start using commas and periods. And there is a thing called a thesaurus which has synonyms of words. I can understand when you HAVE to use that same word, but I'm sure you can find a way to say "curtain" or "mirror" without actually saying it on your mile log sentence.

I just had an stupid idea.
Jason shows up to Dick’s place one evening fuming “I just saw Bernard cheating on Tim”
Obviously this makes Dick angry as well, eventually after a lot of angry screaming about it they both decide to confront Bernard first before telling Tim anything, because how dare this boy cheat on their little brother?! Who does he think he is??
So they follow him one day and they eventually “catch him” making out with a girl, just for her to glare at them with familiar icy blue eyes once they jump out of hiding.
“What the fuck? Dick! Jason! The heck are you two doing here??! Were you following us???!”
It was Tim all along as Caroline Hill.

I can't count the number of times that I've seen posts of people losing their minds over show!Rhaenys not having black hair...
Listen, I get that people want to see characters as they're described in books. Would Eve Best have looked badass with dark hair? Absolutely. But I think that this complaint often misunderstands the nature of adaptations and WHY the show did what it did.
Obviously, Rhaenys' mother being a Baratheon comes into play quite often in the books. You see a whole history of the two families, way more of Boremund being #1 uncle, and understand the weight of him backing Rhaenys' claim as queen.
TV and movie adaptations don't have the luxury of describing pages of backstory and ancestry. You often need to compromise on certain book elements in order to let the audience quickly and easily understand who a person is and how they're related to other characters.
In HotD, the fact that Rhaenys is a Baratheon comes in second to her being a Targaryen. Her Baratheon ancestry literally does not come into play other than Luke trying to persuade Borros to join Team Black, and even then, it DOESN'T MATTER. Borros throws that family connection away like it was nothing. The book argument of her hair color being a possible explanation for Jace, Luke, and Joff's appearance also wouldn't really do much because 1) the show chooses to emphasize that Harwin is the boys' father with zero ambiguity (other than Viserys' weird horse-based logic), and 2) the show!Velaryons are black, and that is a HUGE elephant in the room that's going to trample anything else.
As a side note, GRRM himself couldn't seem to decide on her hair color. In The Princess and the Queen, her hair is Targaryen silver, but F&B changed it to black, with white streaks appearing as she ages. Her children also don't inherit her black hair; both are described in the books as having silver hair, so take that for what you will.
Book readers are usually avid, detail-oriented fans. We love all the small details, family trees, and lore. But book readers are NOT who the show is marketed towards. They have to try and appeal to a larger, more mainstream audience. You need the content to be accessible and easy to understand for a middle-aged mother of 2 in Oklahoma who generally doesn't consume anything fantasy. As I'm sure many of us with boomer parents know, trying to explain elaborate lore to people who aren't in the fandom is HARD.
The #1 thing that the average non-book reader needs to quickly understand is that Rhaenys is a TARGARYEN. She could've, SHOULD'VE, been queen, but she was passed over. You're also combating the fact that she's generally wearing Velaryon blue, and the show doesn't explicitly show that she's a dragonrider until episode 9. Since Emilia Clarke never wore purple contacts for Daenerys in GoT, the ONLY visual representation of a Targaryen that the show has in its arsenal is silver hair. If you need any more convincing, look at what the HotD casting director said in a 2022 interview:
Tumblr media
Again, yeah, it would've been cool to see Rhaenys with dark hair. I know Eve looks good with dark hair. But for this show, silver hair = Targaryen, and that takes precedence.
