Obsessed with shisui and tori's friendship, if you can call it that. They dont even like eachother but theyre bound by their bond to this one freak. They go on double dates and are in the same book club. ....the double date concept is hysterical. i could see tori deciding out of spite "yk what i WILL go on this double date but its gonna be NORMAL bc i am a fun and pleasant person!! I think an often overlooked, but glaring sign of Obito, Madara etc. being right about Konoha being a sleazy shit show, is Itachi's ANBU recruitment. And I don't even mean the part where they groomed an 11-year-old child to join an assassination squad, then changed his official age to make it more palatable.

I mean his entrance exam, the assassination of Mukai Kohinata. Kohinata was said to be a capable and respected ninja, but caught selling Konoha secrets to Kirigakure and to be eliminated. When confronted by a very upset Itachi and Shisui, he explained that he needed the money because he had a sick child. The boys killed him.

Okay, so riddle me this: how come a "respected Konoha ninja" has to pay for his sick child's treatment out of pocket, and so much that he has to risk his life spying on his own village? Clearly, Konoha's appreciation for its ninjas is pure lip service.

i saw this and this is SO perfect for shikako: "ense petit placidam sub libertate quietem" (with the sword, she seeks peace under liberty) - maybe something with the shikabane-hime in the gardens-verse?

Okay anon, I did learn a few things about this phrase, specifically: The phrase is often loosely translated into English as "By the sword we seek peace, but peace only under liberty." The literal translation, however, is "she seeks with the sword peaceful repose under liberty." The "she" in question refers to the word manus from the full phrase manus haec inimica tyrannis ense petit placidam sub libertate quietem, which means "this hand, an enemy to tyrants, seeks with the sword peaceful repose under liberty."

Which, you know, is VERY in flavor of my usual “let’s murder Danzo, that’ll take care of at least 95% of the world’s issues” as seen within the Shikako Nara’s Guide To Delinquency and Military Insurrection series which is basically where I put all of my messing around in the Gardens-verse.

But I find myself interested in the, hm… steps of translation for the phrase… like, the original specifically saying “this hand, an enemy to tyrants” which is then removed from the final phrase. However, the final phrase does still keep the sword and also specifically says peace ONLY under liberty.

So my interpretation of this is: once “this hand, [she who is] an enemy to tyrants,” goes away, all that remains is the sword, ie violence, and the prioritization of liberty over peace. Which actually makes me wonder if… hm… I wouldn’t necessarily say a “dark turn AU” but a… pessimistic version of the “let’s murder Danzo, that’ll take care of at least 95% of the world’s issues.” What happens to Konoha as an institution after Danzo is dead and all of his machinations are brought to light?

ESPECIALLY considering how much he claimed to be merely following the Nidaime’s vision. Imagine the repercussions! The implication that Konoha has been so twisted and rotten from its founding. And I’m not saying it’s a return to the Warring Clans Era, because it’s not as if the clans would necessarily rekindle any issues with each other, but how much of the village infrastructure is suspect? How many people did Danzo influence either with the ROOT seal or with Shisui’s eye?

How many clans then think, we are not free under Konoha?

For example, the twins vows when becoming genin prioritize clan, then allies, then teammates, then the village. (I know they had different vows, but I think that’s roughly the order of priority for both of them?) But I can’t imagine—given Hatake Sakumo’s treatment by Konoha when he saved his teammates and “started the war” (although I do have Danzo-related headcanons for that, of course)—that vow would prevent a court martial or disciplinary action.

So if being a good soldier of Konoha contradicts being a good member of the clan, then the existence of Konoha itself is a contradiction to a clan’s existence—I am, of course, exaggerating for the sake of the premise, and I guess what I’m saying is that the premise is:

Shikako killing Danzo does solve a lot of problems, but then unleashes a whole lot of other problems which, unfortunately, a single murder will not solve. Might be multiple murders. Or maybe a war. Whoops.

Because! The fact that the phrase wasn’t shortened to just “Peace [Only] Under Liberty,” the fact that the “by the sword” part was kept is interesting. But a sword without a hand behind it, a sword without an enemy to target, is just an unsheathed weapon that could harm allies or yourself.

So that is the premise, but I don’t know what the plot would be, per se…

OR maybe this is a universe in which someone that ISN’T multiverse-traveling Shikabane-hime clocks Danzo’s rancid vibes and kills him but without a plan to deal with the fall out or a way to deescalate the situation. Like… if it were Shisui and/or Itachi who killed Danzo but in a kind of panicked way. The Uchiha clan is already SO SUSPICIOUS to the rest of the village (at least, that’s the impression they’ve been given) so they can’t come out with a laundry list of Danzo’s crimes and everything will be fine.

Okay, this isn’t the prompt necessarily, but the idea of two freaked out teenage Uchiha just panic whispering to each other over the corpse of Danzo who they just killed while Shikako watches from the shadows, bemused, because… well… they beat her to the punch, but also they have no idea what they’re doing. It’s very funny.

like many intelligent and correct people have said before me: itachi is autistic. the one track focus of following the rules because that was his one and only positive reinforcement as well as his inability to keep up with being a "bad guy" because the performance exhausts him. the kid is autism central. he doesnt see himself as being different or an outlier but he doesnt know that 12 year olds arent supposed to be this strict or oblivious about the world as he was.

itachi followed his mom's skincare routine one time at 10 years old because he wanted to mirror her and he still performs that same routine with the same exact materials up until the morning he dies

i think little itachi attached himself to anyone who was nice to him and treated him like another kid, which is why he liked hanging out with older kids who were smarter and more skilled than him, and that came especially in the form shisui who was bright and playful and actually tried teaching itachi how to enjoy life as a shinobi

so aside from being autistic, gay, gender transcended, and emo i genuinely like the idea of itachi being color blind. this plays into the fact that he thinks hes normal wearing black and grey, ie following the orders of social normality, and everyone else is playing in his world as well and he cant conceptualize that his perspective is literally different from others around him. being color blind also excuses why his official fancy outfits are always wildly atrocious yet hes so pretty he pulls it off. this infuriates deidara mostly.

it took itachi like 4 years to realize that orochimaru was preying on him for more than just his skin because itachi didnt know what sex was until he hit 18

i think itachi does know that hes gay and that its something his dad would disapprove of so he thinks oh okay i will simply forget that i am this until the time is relevant to remember and at 18 he unlocks all the memories of crushing on boys and he takes a day to cringe at himself

in a modern au itachi would be on trad wife tiktok just because he saved too many recipe videos and comments on homesteading videos asking about the farm animals

She didn’t have to ring twice before the door was ripped open. Sasuke’s hair was dishevelled as if he had run his hand through it one too many times and both his eyes were visible. Probably he hadn’t looked into the mirror for hours. He looked positively stressed out, which was such a strange view for him, especially in recent years.

“Upstairs,” he said and turned around without even saying hello and she just about found the time to discard her shoes and follow him before he disappeared around the corner to the stairs leading to the second floor. It had been about a year at this point since she’d last seen him, but tonight she’d suddenly gotten a call from his house and an urgent “Please come over”, so of course she had hurried there without a second thought.

Sasuke turned into one of the boy’s rooms. When Akami also entered, she could see what the problem was: Ren was turning on his bed, face red and sweating and eyes pressed close as if he was in restless sleep.

“We thought he was okay, but he suddenly started running a fever,” Sasuke said and sounded a little desperate. “I don’t know what I’m supposed to do to help him.”

She felt flattered that he had thought of calling her first and foremost, but there was also a part of her that was amused at witnessing his first struggle as a parent. “Where are the others? Sakura-chan and Takeshi?”

“Hospital,” Sasuke said and, refusing to elaborate, continued: “Can you ease this for him?”

Akami crossed her arms: “No.”

“Why not?” The look of betrayal in his eyes almost made her laugh out loud.

“Your son needs his father to take care of him,” she said matter of factly. “You can do it, every parent can and if you don’t know how, you will learn it now.”

It was true that his mission often took him away from his family and that Sakura, being a world class doctor, would probably be more responsible for exactly these situations, but Sasuke needed to be able to handle it too. They had two kids after all. 

“Get a towel.” Akami gestured to the door. “Cold water in a bowl, look for fever medicine wherever your medicine cabinet is, come back.” She snapped her finger - he walked out instantly

She wondered for a second if Sasuke even knew where towels and such were in his own house, given how seldomly he checked in, but when she heard cupboards open and bowls being moved she felt at ease. She’d long since felt that he was probably back in Konoha more often than he was willing to tell the Hokage, Itachi or even her.

Ren groaned and she put her hand on his forehead. He was quite heated up, but not life threatening if he would get some medicine and sleep. She wondered what had happened, especially with Sakura in the hospital with Takeshi too. There had been some commotion in the village during the day. She wondered if that was related and hoped it wasn’t. 

Sasuke came spriting back, water spilling over the edges of his bowl. He sat down in front of his son and then looked up at Akami. “You are smart, you figure out what to do next”, she said and leaned against the cupboard behind her.

“Medicine,” Sasuke murmured and put the bowl down. She watched him open the little bottle and fill a bit of it on a spoon he had brought. His hand was slightly shaking when he brought it up to Ren’s mouth and forced the boy to drink it.

Ever since she’d known him he had been such a serious person, often frowning, always questioning. As an adult he had grown even more distant, wore mostly black and covered half his face so that even less of him could be seen, but here he was, his full worry and fear of being a bad parent on display. In the end his good heart always won

Ren took the medicine and Sasuke dowsed the towel in the water he had brought and put it on his forehead. The little boy whined a little at the sudden cold, but then eased back into his pillows. Soon he’d be asleep from the medicine and then his little body could recover.

Sasuke got back on his feet and wiped his own sweat off his head. “This is more stressful than getting away from a group of rampant cultists,” he murmured.

“So will you tell me what happened to Takeshi?” Akami put her head to the side. “Both kids caught the cold?”

“They were attacked in the morning,” Sasuke grinded his teeth together. “Coordinated attack on all the people related to the Uchiha, but they targeted the children first. Not only them, Itachi's and Kakashi’s son Obito. I was lucky to be in the area and having a gut feeling that something was up. I found the boys surrounded in the forest, but Takeshi was already seriously injured…”

Akami sucked in a breath of air and clenched her fist. 

“..I took him to the hospital and Sakura took over. We thought Ren was alright, if shaken up, but now he suddenly got a fever…” He looked down at the child.

Who would do such a thing? Attack a bunch of 3 year olds to get to their parents? “What did you do with the attackers?”

“Cut their heads off,” Sasuke said coldly.

She smiled. “Good boy.” If he hadn’t done it, she surely would have. 

“What about the other kids?” she asked, while mentally already replanning her morning so she could drop by the hospital and bring Takeshi some get-well-soon sweets.

“Itachi got to the guy before he could even touch Shisui,” Sasuke said and sounded a little proud. “Guess they thought they could fool a blind guy, but Itachi is Itachi.” Indeed, Akami thought, Itachi might have stopped being an active shinobi but he had always been outstandingly talented. “Haruka was sleeping with Mikoto in the inner house so they didn’t even notice what was going on.” Mikoto was so tiny, Akami didn’t even want to imagine what would have happened if they’d gotten to her.

“Obito was alone,” Sasuke sighed. “But Naruto heard him yell and came to his rescue. He brought the boy to Kakashi where we all found ourselves eventually.”

So that was what all the commotion had been about. Akami had seen soldiers running back and forth, but in the nature of Konoha being a ninja village this hadn’t seemed that extraordinary. “So what was it?”

“Someone wanted something from an Uchiha. Maybe revenge? They got access to the village without being spotted by the security system. Looks like we have a traitor around.” He let out a deep breath. “Everything seems to be adjusted for now. The biggest concern right now is that Kakashi’s wife is out somewhere on a solo mission.”

That explained why she had seen Saya leave the village in full ANBU updo. It was so rare for her to run missions these days. 

Ren turned over and groaned a little. Sasuke instantly reacted and pulled the towel from his forehead to douse it in cold water again. Akami remembered suddenly how it had been when Sasuke had been first sick under her care. You never wanted to see your own kids suffer like that.

“They will be fine,” she said. “Both of them are strong and have strong parents.”

He didn’t turn to her. “I wonder if I’m ever going to be cut out for this.”

“You already are. You called me, because you know you needed help. If you weren’t cut out for this, you would have just left him there.” Akami slowly tried to get his hair back in order as if he was still 10 and too late for school. “You will never stop learning with these things, but you’re not doing too bad.”

“Maybe I’ll stay a little,” Sasuke said.

“That would be good, you need to keep an eye on him tonight.” She looked at the sleeping boy.

Sasuke got back up. “No, I mean here. Maybe I’ll stay here to make sure everything is fine. Put my mission on hold.” He clenched his fist. “Make sure they don’t come back.”

“Call me immediately if they do,” Akami poked into his chest. “So I can partake in the beheading.” He snickered a little. “Also, just call me in the morning, tell me how he is, how Takeshi is.”

He smiled and oddly reminded her of the person he was before he left the village all those years ago. “I will.Thanks for everything.”

Prompt: Non-Massacre AU

She was hiding behind the tree again.

A shy little thing, he often noticed that she tended to shrink away from the crowds of children during recess. He didn’t blame her; all of the girls in class did nothing but gather together and giggle - and they all seemed to flock around him like mice to crumbs.

Six-year-old Sasuke had little time for things like girls and crushes; he preferred to spend his time practicing his skills. All of his teachers spoke of him highly, but they always tended to bring up Itachi, and if he wanted them to praise him the same way he had to become the greatest shinobi of his class.

His best friend didn’t share the same goals. Naruto was clever and energetic, always playing around and carefree. All he wanted was to hang out with Shikamaru and Kiba and Choji, and despite looking up to Itachi the way his few friends tended to do, the only person he idolized was his dad.

Uncle Minato was great, but he wasn’t Itachi-niisan.

Sasuke let out a quiet sigh, walking over to the makeshift target he’d made out of the old tree stump in the corner of the schoolyard. This was the only place he was able to practice his throwing without the teachers telling him to go somewhere else. He hoped the gaggle of girls wouldn’t migrate over today - some peace and quiet would be nice.

“Cousin is coming over a lot more nowadays,” he thought irritably, “and so is that girl Itachi likes.”

Shisui was fun company, but he could sure be energetic.

He felt a presence nearby, but he didn’t even have to look before he spotted a little head of mauve hair pop up in his peripheral.

He couldn’t quite remember her name, but she was quiet and stayed out of the way, so he figured he wouldn’t say anything.

Narrowing his eyes at the target, he readied his arm and in one swift movement, he let the shuriken fly.

It cut through the air cleanly, swiftly, and landed with a thunk in the bark of the stump. A bullseye, right in the crudely-cut circle in the center.

“Yesssss!” He fist-pumped the air with a hiss of victory, before grabbing his next shuriken and pausing to aim.

Another throw, this one slightly off-kilter from the last. He kissed his teeth in annoyance before shambling over to grab them both.

He felt her eyes on him again and let out a sigh before turning to the nearby tree. “Are you just gonna watch me the whole time?”

There was a pause, and then slowly, sheepishly, a pink-haired little girl peeked at him from behind.

“S- sorry,” she shyly murmured, looking down so that her hair covered her eyes. “It’s quiet here and… and I like watching you practice.”

She was smaller than he first thought she was. The tree practically swallowed her behind its bark, and her hand was even smaller than his.

“Well…” he said, folding his arms, “... okay, I guess, but… just don’t stare at me so hard. It makes me lose con-- const-- con-cen-tra-tion.”

“Okay, I’m sorry,” she nodded, clutching the bark tighter in her tiny fingers. “I’m Sakura.”

“Uchiha Sasuke.” Picking up the shuriken again, he turned to the stump.

With a smooth throw, he landed a perfect bullseye. When he turned to grin at her, her answering blush and shy smile made his heart lift in pride.

We've already talked about Shisui in the Mandalorian series and also a Star Wars AU with Narutoverse characters so now I'm taking you in a different direction!

Melida/Dann AU: Shisui canonically died at roughly 16 so he's not an 'adult' soooo I'm talking Shisui in a warzone helping the Young, I'm talking Shisui washing up from the water in the sewers and Obi-wan being sticken by this older teen with a terrifyingly strong connection with the force, I'm talking Shisui completely decimates the adults and then meets with the Jedi when they come (back) to negotiate with the new leadership and shit hits the fan!!

Temple Guard AU: Shisui was tortured by memories of his past life as an initiate and never was chosen by a Master because of that so he went through the Guard system instead and it's... Fulfilling, in its own way. He's very good friends with Feemor (❤️‍🔥). The Republic descends into war. The Masters are called to lead the troops, The Guards are more important than ever but also running on a skeleton crew, Shisui starts to make waves even as an Anonymous Guard and blah blah blah queue Shisui becoming the person low-key running the Coruscant Temple and getting close (😉) with Fox and then idk if it gets that far but he would deffo beat Anakin's ass concave for coming near the Creche! Basically Shisui being protective and bamf with a mask! It's like Jedi ANBU but everyone underestimates the Guards! Vindication!!!

Sith AU: Shisui is summoned by Sidious in a Sith Ritual, he pops out of the containment 'pentagram' like a mentos in a can of coke and hauls ass out of there lmao 🤣. Shisui is TECHNICALLY a Darksider because hello Shinobi assassin with mindfucking powers BUT he's also a good person so I propose- Shisui, running like a lunatic across the universe and having an existential crisis (i love this shit, you know I do) because ALIENS and STAR TRAVEL and HES NOT DEAD ANYMORE, whilst both Palpatine AND the Jedi Order are having breakdowns about the Sith running around like a lunatic. Palpatine is like WILL YOU COME BACK HERE AND BE MY APPRENTICE FFS (Obi-wan did kill Maul that first time). The Jedi are like WHERE DID THE SITH COME FROM AND WHY IS HE FREEING SLAVES AND CURING WORLD HUNGER ETC? Meanwhile Shisui is accidentally reviving Grey Jedidom without a single fucking clue 🤣

General AU: I just 😩 I really want Shisui as a GAR General ❤️‍🔥 Plo Koon was his master because I fucking love him okay orange found father and I just really want Shisui out there being a good friend for Obi-wan and showing that you don't have to be without emotional attachment and love in order to remain in the light (take fucking notes everyone but I'm especially looking at Anakin) and I just have so many feels about Shisui meeting his platoon of Clones and coaxing their trust and learning about them all as individuals and forming a found family and being a TOTAL BAMF OKAY

a/n: aww thank you I really appreciate that! I'm glad to be back. Haha yes gotta love our mans Neji he's just the sweetest, awkward (beautiful) bean. Now I actually hadn't known about lithosexuality before this so it was really interesting to look into (especially as someone who also identifies on the ace spectrum - demi) so I hope I did this justice! Lithosexual is a sexual orientation on the asexual spectrum. Someone who is lithosexual may experience sexual attraction but does not want it reciprocated. The lithosexual person may be uncomfortable at the thought of someone being sexually attracted to them, or they may lose their sexual feelings if they learn it's reciprocated. As such, lithosexuals do not feel compelled to seek out a sexual relationship. Like with any sexual orientation, lithosexuals can have any romantic orientation.

Neji Hyuga

Neji honestly doesn't know much about different sexualities and identities when he is younger thanks to the conservative environment he grew up in. He doesn't even know what he identifies as until later when his world view gets opened up tbh.

That is exactly what happens the day you sit down and explain to him your sexuality. It's very blunt and to the point. It ends with something along the lines of 'So yeah, that's me.'

Yeah that's you. As if you didn't just blow his entire world view. 'Oh.' He says as if he doesn't want to ask But how did you figure all that out by yourself?

If he did ask that you could have bonked him on the head and told him of course you didn't. You figure it out through other people. By reading, talking, etc. But he didn't he just sits there stunned looking out at the trees while you try not to laugh at his lopsidded expression.

But its through this stunned encounter and many more conversations that Neji learns he is demisexual. Huh so there was a word for what he was after all? He feels? Satisfied? No. He feels a little more certain. Of himself and the world. A lightness in his step.

If you told him you are sex repulsed Neji is the type to be the most understanding and respectful. (You also have to tell him exactly what it means though because he's a little confused at first but he's got the spirit) Finds out your boundaries the second it comes up. Never strays from them.

Madara Uchiha

But he also feels bad for all the times he flirted with you because he flirts with everyone (he's a natural flirt) and now he feels like he needs to apologise bc he's that guy. Shisui Uchiha

I feel like he's going to be the kind of guy who knows a little about this sort of thing? Like you think he's going to be surprised with that carefree front he puts up but he always just knows everything about everything. Damn anbu man.

'Oh yeah that's kind of like when you don't want someone reciprocating sexual attraction right?' He just drops on you in reply. and all you have to say back is 'Yeah kind of.' To which you go on to explain exactly how it is for you.

And he listens. LIKE ACTIVELY LISTENS. Eyes watching. Head nodding. Absorbing everything like its a damn assignment. Such a sweet guy. The best friend like ugh. The best. Asks questions too when he doesn't understand.

'Does that mean you don't ever want to date either?' and then 'Oh wait is that to invasive? Sorry I got to curious don't feel like you have to answer.' Like super curious but also considerate. He's just super interested in finding out more about but also learning about you since you're in his life.

Since the discussion was so deep and serious he'll end it with. 'Well that was great lets go grab some dango.' As if it were just any other day. It's the pure acceptance and sweetness for me.

As for sex repulsion he'd probably also know what it is but want you to clarify what it is for you (if it was something you were wanting to discuss since you brought it up) He wouldn't say to much other than 'Aw thanks for telling me.' But would ask questions again if they were prompted.

And of course if it was a seperate conversation yaknow this man is taking you for food again. He was taught that deep conversations should end with good food.

SHISUI, hands down!! I love the idea that, because his father was canonically disabled when Shisui was very young, Obito helped Shisui learn to fend/provide for himself (Because Obito was known to take care of elders, its not a stretch to say he tried to help the disabled, too). And, because Obito was the first to show Shisui some mercy, Shisui took to following him around like a lil duckling, looking up to him. I also repeatedly used the idea that Kushina was his Jounin instructor. It's fun to give him a base knowledge of how seals work!

Nayeli has a couple of jobs where she needs to have a lot of specialized knowledge; as a tour guide and a folk dance instructor. However, she does not know why Nemesio makes her so nervous. Or why he thinks she can help him find answers about his father's disappearance. Maybe if he can help her understand why she feels hunted no matter where she goes, she can get enough breathing room to find him his answers.

Okay, so if we’re doing Into The Spider-verse, but Crow Edition, possible Crows either canon or fanon or AU: Shisui, Amano, Sai, Shikako (because of course there’s an AU out there for this) … oof, who are the other three?

Uzume in an AU in which neither Shisui nor Amano are around to be ANBU Crow T_T

Aoba, maybe?

Which then could do a similar Anko version in an AU in which Aoba isn’t around to be ANBU Crow—although maybe that’s too repetitive of the Uzume one. Maybe it’s just that, in a world where Konoha trusts her (maybe because she sleuths around and is integral in ripping Danzo out of his hole in the ground, thereby saving the Uchiha clan who now have way more political clout, or at the very least, are back to the clout that they had before?) Anko becomes an ANBU and she gets Crow and Aoba—because I will give up ANBU training buddies only when I’m dead—chooses to be ANBU Snake even though everyone is leery of that mask (like everyone is leery of the Fox mask)

… Or is that, maybe, too much of an offshoot/spinoff?

I mean, I always headcanon Mikoto has having been ANBU, though not usually Crow.

… BUT ALSO, in the Spider-verse there are multiples of the same person—with, obviously, Peter Parker being the most common Spiderman—so maybe just different versions of Shisui, Amano, and/or Sai and then the lone Shikako is the outlier? OR it could be that these are distinct Crows, but for the most part, each of them know who the other are—at least by reputation if nothing else—and the fact that no one has any idea who Shikako Nara is (or, bleakly, the ROOT brainwashed non-Shikako version of herself) is the Miles Morales-esque outlier part. SHE’S THE ANOMALY IN THE CROW-VERSE! (But instead of angry, its angsty O_O… or existential?)

Okay, okay, let’s get these Crows in their respective numbers according to the poem, I’m gonna do some logic puzzle nonsense:

Sorrow, Joy, Girl, Boy, Silver, Gold, Secret Never To Be Told

Obviously Shikako is a Secret Never Told. I feel like Uzume would be either Sorrow or Girl, meaning Amano would be the matching Joy or Boy because I want them to be complementary. Then Aoba, Mikoto, Shisui, Sai… let’s see… if Uzume is not Girl, then we could do Mikoto as Girl in a “young Mikoto becomes ANBU Crow because it’s the only way she can see any action because the Uchiha clan is being weirdly gross and misogynistic and are blocking her from taking any risky missions because they want her to marry Fugaku and have extremely powerful heirs with him” kind of way

And while not EXACTLY matching as nicely as Uzume and Amano, I feel like I could then explore my Aoba headcanon as a partial!Uchiha with Boy. And, boy, do I have a weirdly specific headcanon about partial!Uchiha Aoba stumbling into both the Crow summons (he reverse summoned himself!) and the Crow mask—both very Uchiha flavored inheritances—only after the Uchiha Massacre when he is an adult and 1) wouldn’t use the name, but also 2) wouldn’t be able to rub it in the face of the clan that rejected him and his non-Uchiha parent, especially if he was like… a bastard Uchiha child who was never claimed. ( @loveelemental and I had a discord brainstorming session about an Aoba centric fic in which his partial Uchiha heritage makes for a fascinating post-Jashin Sharingan activation, which is where we came up with a lot of details for this partial!Uchiha theory)

Which then leaves Silver and Gold for Shisui and Sai… which feels pretty good? I’d probably—because I’m biased—make Shisui Gold and Sai Silver because even if they are both (maybe) Uchiha, Shisui just FEELS more sun coded even though his Sharingan is “unbreakable genjutsu”, while Sai is moon coded (and also you can get into his brother Shin, the silver of his hair, the shine of moon on blades, and similes of second place and how even as Hikaku no one really wants him first and foremost the way that his brother Shin did T_T sad boy)

So I guess the fic would be these different ANBU Crows somehow interacting with each other, and honestly the easiest way to do this would be Crow!Shikako does a sort of seal space/pocket dimension/temporary mission team using the ANBU Crow mask as a cornerstone. An “I’ve gathered you all here because we all need to murder our respective Danzos, and together we can all help each other do that. Also, imagine the satisfaction of killing Danzo seven times… or more, if he already has Izanagi”

Another way is a more contemplative/abstract “echoes/ghosts of possible timelines” thing in which, again, the ANBU Crow mask is, like, a liminal space. But wearable. Haunted or cursed? And to make it even more angsty the echoes/ghosts only appear when you’re about to die… which, to be fair, ANBU, probably pretty often?

I guess what my brain is trying to do is more of a multi-versal Sense8 than an Into The Spider-verse thing… hm… I don’t hate it at all… it could be fun to puzzle out some more…

... I also realized, for all that I was very excited about your Shisui mention, I literally mentioned him the least, lolol

ahem. fundamental stupidity of naruto canon aside, hinata is like, “trading a byakugan for one of *itachi’s* sharingan makes very little sense because the sharingan have to be paired to access all three mangekyo powers, but you know what *would* make sense, is trading a byakugan for *shisui’s* sharingan,” and then itachi has a third eye, which (because it is a byakugan) doesn’t actually have to be on the outside of his body, it can just have its own nice little fully enclosed eye socket in the middle of his chest somewhere with an optic nerve that feeds back up to his brain. (work with me here on the biology i know this isn’t how anything works but naruto is already a world where you can rip your eye out of your skull w your bare hand and give it to your cousin who will implant it in a FUCKING crow, so i feel this isn’t THAT far beyond the line)

short answer: have anyone u like, but specifically i’m thinking about these connections / plots:

SASUKE & ANKO. I feel like out of anyone after he was cursed, sasuke should have been given the opportunity to speak to anko. Because who can understand the weight of oro’s curse mark better, or the thrill of power it brings along with the pain? I think she’d have been up for mentoring but harbour no illusions as to the allure of the curse mark and power so she would spend less time telling sasuke it’s going to be okay and more on equipping him with ways to survive, including skills that might come into use if / when he turns to oro. because she’d rather have him equipped and leave than blind herself to the possibility. she’d be frank with him about her own experiences if he asked, or share tidbits in training if needed (willing & unwillingly, the curse mark is unpredictable). i think it would be interesting mentor & student dynamic, but also a person who can understand what he carries.

SASUKE & NARUTO. I’d love to explore their dynamic more thoroughly through time. The sun and moon, the opposites fighting. the idealist who wants to bring sasuke home thinking he understands the pain sasuke is going through but blind to his actual words. its hard to pinpoint a specific point with these two because i genuinely want to explore everything about them from the two isolated kids picking a rivalry, to teammates pitting themselves against each other and struggling to reconcile against the other’s growth, to standing opposing each other on the battlefield, to the war and beyond. there’s just so much to unpick with them and work with.

SASUKE & SHIKAMARU. shikamaru is likely to have been quite happy to spend time with sasuke at the academy [ he’s quiet and he’s not going to expect lots of activity outside of class tasks ] and perhaps even considered each other friends. shikamaru would be content to meet sasuke outside of missions, discuss things, take him cloud watching to quiet places out of the village, go for a tea or play a game of shogi. contrast that to the sasuke retrieval arc where sasuke’s refusal to return to the village means shikamaru’s first failure? he’s  got a whole lot of hurt there, and pain, and he nearly got his friends killed chasing sasuke. working alongside sasuke in the war feels like the shadow of an old friendship he’s forgotten about and a turmoil [not aided by the fact he loses his father mid-war and is elevated to a tactical position of command ]. in the aftermath he’s struggling to reconcile the pain and joy and while the rest of the konoha rookie squad are celebrating he’s taking some time to reflect and perhaps them having conversations to find who they are to each other now.

SASUKE & IRUKA. iruka attempting to connect with sasuke post-massacre and struggling to find an in. he wants to make a difference to him, wants to reach out, but he’s struggling, tries different methods, reaching out, asking to stay behind after class, giving independent 1:1 time on the training fields. he’s not sure he’s making any difference but he’s trying, he’s unwavering, he wants to reach him. he knows something of losing families, though not in the manner sasuke has, and he desperately wants his student to know he’s not alone.
