Rewatching star trek beyond so liveblogging it
God this film feels like coming home. Let me be a pharmacy assistant on the Enterprise please my life would be fixed
So does Bones just steal from people's lockers? Also they have lockers?
Oh LoRDy
I wish I could’ve been into star trek when this came out
Someone medicate Bones, man's so stressed out honestly
This film really makes me want star trek 4, make it a motion picture, getting the band back together thing
Love the way we see yorktown as massive and impressive then zoom in on the spaceport to make it seem lived in
Sulu's daughter has a toy enterprise
Fuck, prime Spock’s dead
The parts where they show prime spock really make me want a crossover between tos and aos, and it hurts that I'll never see it, guess i'll have to live in fanfic
Love the practical effects of this film
Also is Jim’s outfit in this scene, grey with yellow shoulders, the formalwear? If so I like it
Lovr Uhura's communications panel
Chris Pine's reactions, the cinematography, the set design, the sounds, fuck I love this film
Gonna start saying "i can't engage the warp drive" when i stall a car
Would love to see the borg in aos
Love the character consistency of Bones not carrying a phaser but spock is
Love Bones' portable scanner, i would watch a fake documentary about star trek tech
Does anyone wonder what happened to all the personal belongings that were destroyed on the Enterprise?
Jaylah’s coming soon 😆
There she is!
How many languages does she speak? English, her own and whatever those people she beat up were speaking?
Notice how Bones is still cut on the forehead while he's helping out Spock
Also why does Jaylah know about Krall’s plan? Is that why he shoots people down, try to find the Abornath then kill them to be immortal?
Just realised that Jaylah’s tech was probably from her ship before she got to Altamid, that's why she knows how to use it, her stick, her traps, the parts she got for the franklin (as well as other ships), makes me want to know what her people were like
How long has Jaylah been there?
Love how Bones is ready to throw hands
Bones dancing to achy breaky heart when?
Also Jaylah isn't introduced to Spock and bones, they just get beamed aboard and then spock collapses
Oo Krall’s looking more human
"You gave your girlfriend a tracking device?" Spock’s face 🤣
I really want to know about Jaylah’s family
This film literally proves that my "Jaylah is actually really fucking traumatised and definitely has (c) ptsd" agenda is canon
Also Scotty has his grandma's china hc
Love how Jim respects his crew
Also jim kirk is so Maverick/tom cruise coded it's insane. Bikes, dead dad, cocky attitude, shipped with someone who’s "ice cold"
Uhura has got to be traumatised after seeing a crewmate literally eaten in front of her
Jim Cruise is here! Tom Kirk!
After getting into top gun, the star trek navy inspired titles are funny to me, at least in aos by how quick they get them and how young they all are
Not sure why Jaylah’s fighting gives me kill bill vibes
Also jaylah has blue blood!
Love how sulu gets the dramatic line "they're going to destroy yorktown"
How long did it take to get the ship ready to fly? I mean, it's been at least a day and a night, the day they arrived, nighttime then they all got rescued and brought back together the next day just wondered how long it all took to happen
Also seatbelts!
Sulu would’ve won top gun
"I acknowledge and respect your concerns" Someone's been to therapy
"How do we get them to stop talking" is spoken so shatner
Just realised why certain jobs are the colours, yellow: anything running the ship (captain, pilot etc), red: anything about how the ship runs (engineering, communications, security), blue: science and medical
I love how the end of this film is similar to battleships where they use an old ship to defeat an alien ship
The picture of the original crew! He took it with him! I need a crossover now! I love how they used a more brassy theme there, makes it sound more original, more nostalgic
They had the chance to do futuristic dress but they just look like dudes from 2016
If they could just do an animated series for the aos crew...
Also the og theme at the end 🥲

So was it any good? tbosas I mean
Well,,,,,,,,, kind of? I had fun, but also went in knowing they won't pay attention to what I loved about the book so my expectations were properly low. TBOSAS is my fav THG book so a different adaptation exists in my head
Non-spoilery: The movie is divided in parts like the book, but there is no rhyme or reason why, no dramatic breaks or changes like in the books. The Reaping isn't on July 4th because of course. Tom Blyth as Coriolanus was a surprise because I expected nothing from him other than looking sort of like old Snow. The movie naturally removed any and all nuance from his character and kept spelling out everything, but there were a few scenes where they let him yknow, act out how his character is supposed to feel, and it was really good! Rachel Zegler as Lucy Gray was more of a mixed bag - sometimes she was fantastic in selling the over-the-top dramatic flare, but other times (especially towards the beginning) it was just weird. I firmly believe this is because the movie didn't fully commit to Lucy Gray as a charming crowd director who keeps her heart hidden and instead made her a more honestly vulnerable girl. She dazzled in musical numbers, though, that girl is a performer through and through! Viola Davis was bad I am so sorry but I felt like I was watching a Disney Channel performance and it's entirely the movie's fault and not hers. Peter Dinklage was super good as Dean Highbottom, he makes him all sad and lost without being over-the-top. The rest of the cast was also good. I loved the sets and the costumes, very in-line with what I'd imagined. The night/dark scenes were so dark that subtitles felt like they were burning into my eyes, it was the absolute worst quality dark scenes I've ever seen in a big movie.
Spoilery:
They removed Coriolanus' obsessive love for Lucy Gray and turned it sooo muted :(((( He didn't even want to kiss her before the Games! He didn't try to control her or feel jealousy or ANYTHING that could imply he might turn on her one day!! His emotional changes and impatience and politeness and selfish kindness are also all gone now. Sejanus and he aren't nearly as close as in the book, but there was this funny moment where the two of them had a more intense forehead touch moment than any Coriolanus shared with Lucy Gray and it made me chuckle. Tigris and Coriolanus were very very well done, I loved how she was always his first bestie!!! But I am sort of annoyed they turned it from "Tigris puts Coriolanus down for the way he treats others" to "Tigris is scared Coriolanus will become his dad". Lucy Gray's Reaping was absolutely horrible, she threw a singing fit instead of being a confident performer, so it makes no sense that she just flips a switch into untouchable after. Loved the snake charmer climax where everyone stands up for Lucy Gray and proves that Capitol needs a victor! It worked better for the movie than the book version, and the way the music exists as a meta instrumental scene where the score eventually catches up to her singing - THAT is how ALL her songs should have been treated!!! The way music worked was one of my biggest issues, sometimes they were totally off tonally from what their role was in the books (The Ballad of Lucy Gray Baird this is about YOU Maiah Wynne's version makes me sob to this day while the movie version is only saved by Rachel's passion) and only the snake song was properly utilized as a plot point. They were such good opportunities for exposition that is more subtle than just putting whatever is Coriolanus feeling in clunky dialogue. And the clunky dialogue WAS constantly used to make up for the amount of internal monologues, even if it made zero sense -at the end they literally had Lucy Gray say "Haha if you destroyed the guns and killed me you could go to District 2 no sweat hahahaha anyway I'll go get some potatoes bye" like what. In what world would she literally tell him that. She is supposed to be a smart survivor. They also put "it's things we love most" quote as the final line in the movie, and I can't describe what a stupid choice that was, because if it wasn't there the movie would go "Highbottom tells Coriolanus he won't be able to forget Lucy Gray-> Coriolanus' proud exit where he believes to be the victor as snow falls down -> Can't Catch Me Now end credits including the snow motif", which would have been SO much stronger since that song delivers the "Lucy Gray eventually caught up to Coriolanus" message and we don't get it spelled out like we're 5 years old. It's not the only part of the movie where references to the OG stick out like a sore thumb, and I am once again asking Why. Why don't you think your audience is smart enough to understand.

The Death of the Birds ❤‍🩹
Tumblr media
"He sleeps all day, he doesn't talk at all...he's in so much pain. You should talk to him, Ice."
That's what got Tom running to Pete. He had been given a few days off since Nick had died, so he was with Penny Benjamin. Penny had heard that Pete had been speculated to had been dating an instructor named Charlie, but she hadn't felt offended. With Nick's death, it wasn't something to think about anyway.
Penny realized very early that she wasn't doing the right thing by letting Pete stay in their home. Pete was in a very much bad condition. She had done the first thing that came to mind, she had told one of his friends at Top Gun on the phone, because Viper had directed herself to Iceman. She didn't know Iceman, it was the first time she'd met him on the phone; now she'd see his face, he must have been a nice guy since Viper was the voucher. When Penny let this tall, blond, handsome man in; she told him that Pete was asleep.
Again.
They chatted for a while, tried to get to know each other, Tom didn't tell her what he was hiding deep inside, he was keeping it for Pete.
“Penny, Pete is dangerous,” he said.
"I know."
"No, but it's not what you understand, I'll try to comfort him when he wakes up, but he might make a mess, you better not be around. You don't mind, do you?"
"Oh, if you want me to leave you two alone, I will, Iceman. It's really okay, but I'd appreciate it if you could stop him from messing the place."
"I'm not sure," Tom frowned. "If you incur financial loss, I'll cover it, okay?"
Tom was really that rich, but Penny didn't think it was going to get to that point. She wasn't that much pessimistic. He left Tom alone, and Tom reached the door of the room where Pete was sleeping. When he opened it first, he found Maverick sleeping with his back turned, then, thinking that even cats wouldn't sleep that long, "You're awake, aren't you?" asked he.
He heard Pete sniff.
"Can I lie down next to you?"
There was no answer.
"Well, I'll take your silence positively because I'm so tired. Do you know how long it took to get here from Top Gun? Well, not everyone has a motorbike like yours... for the whole day, I had to be patient with that terrible traffic in my car. If you want me to go, you better kick me out. But you'll have to talk first for that," said Tom firstly, laying on his back, next to Pete. His eyes were watching the ceiling. "I lost my children too, you know?"
It was a sentence so heavy that it would end Tom's lack of response.
"You had children?" he turned slightly, but still hadn't changed his position.
"Sure! I was a dad... They were the prettiest birds in the world, but one day, I lost them. Both of them. Then I said, 'God, why'd you take them both from me? Wouldn't you just let one of them live?'"
"Ice, I'm sorry but… I don't think you can compare a human to a pair of birds."
"What difference does it make, they were the only family I ever had. The family is not always the ideal 'nucleus of four'. Sometimes a single mother and a daughter are a family, sometimes a single father and a son are a family, sometimes animals like mine are your children. You regarded Goose as that, didn't you?"
"Goose was also the only family I ever had."
"So you could compare a human to a pair of birds…"
Pete's response was, to shed tears. He could block them in public, but when he was alone, he could make as much noise as he wanted. Maybe the guess that Tom had made before he knew Pete that much well was coming true. Not knowing what to do, Tom turned to his left, his hands trembling in the air; but he finally dared hug Pete. Pete continued to cry, not turning to face him, but allowing him to hug him. "You don't understand, Tom…" he said, after five or ten minutes, not realizing that he had used Tom's first name, nor it had touched something in Tom. "I loved Nick… I was in love with him!"
Tom swallowed some "lump", which had suddenly been in his throat. Was he Pete's first "friend" to whom he confided in this secret, did Nick know about it... so many questions came to his mind, but he couldn't ask any of them.
Many years were waiting for him to ask them, and more importantly, to be even more dearly with Pete.

Hey! Have you made a master list of Ice being Jake’s dad? (I absolutely love, appreciate and frequently use your master lists)
Just as I’m writing the Ron is Jake’s dad au I’ve been trying to read all the Ice is Jake’s dad and I’m sure I’m missing some??
Hey Mac! 😊
This is slightly different than how I usually do rec lists. In this case, I searched through the Top Gun (Movies) fics tagged as Tom "Iceman" Kazansky & Jake "Hangman" Seresin and then proceeded with the collecting of all fics mentioning any paternal-filial bond between the two, regardless of the pairings.
Meaning I don't think I know most of them, but I hope you can find stuff to read nonetheless.
(I'll probably -absolutely- do a Hangster & Icepops-Hangson recs list though, at some point in the future! 😊)
I invite anyone to add fics fitting the request if you have more! 💖

Their times are both running out, but they will be damned if they will let the other die without at least trying to save them. Jake knows what policies there are in place to avoid familial conflict of interest, he's lived it for years. He knows how sacred those policies are to keeping his family sane. So logically it follows that he understands how dangerous this mission must be for the Navy to look aside and allow the entire Mitchell-Kazansky family to be a part of it. Now he just needed to make sure they all made it home in one piece. Or Jake is a Kazansky just as much as Bradley is a Mitchell, and Mav never pulled Bradley's papers. Jake did not really look like either of his parents. Sure, he could see some of his mom in his features when he looked in the mirror, but the majority of them are from someone he’s never seen before. It didn’t take much to bring the question up to his parents and they answered honestly. Or, Jake's biological father is Iceman and this is what happens after he finds out.
Living after midnight, loving 'til the morning, then I'm gone. by WaffleToaster {E}
Nobody thought their actions back in the winter of '85 and beyond would end up having these consequences. A story woven from past mistakes, indecisions and loss that eventually helped shape his world and upbringing. But despite all the hardships one thing was for certain, Jake Seresin was destined to fly and he knew the Navy was where he belonged. A slightly altered kind of retelling that includes Jake 'Hangman' Seresin being Tom 'Iceman' Kazansky’s lost son, a story about revelations, love, loss, friendship and most importantly family. Where two rivals find out they may not be so different from one another and their journey to understanding, unity, serenity and eventually love. First by hating, then by loving and finally understanding and helping one another find a place they both deserve. Just not in the same order.
A Kazansky Redemption by WhisperingNights {E}
This is a Kazansky love story. Can one win back the love of their life? Can the other find love in a storm of hate? **** “Sarah, that’s been over for 26 years, besides your my wife, remember? It wouldn’t be good to go tell a man I love him now would it?” Ice grinning playfully at her. She gave a small laugh that quickly turned into a cough, causing him to lean toward her in concern. “I’m alright, I’m alright, sit down,” she rasped, waving him off, then she looked at him “I love you Tom, but we both know our love was foraged in partnership nothing else. We did what was necessary for the safety of ourselves and your career. But it’s 2017, it's easier now. Sexuality rights are better, people are more open. I’ll never get to have a wife, but you Tom, you deserve to have a husband.” ***** Jake’s eyes landed on a figure in an awful Hawaiian shirt and sunglasses. His irritation instantly grew, the universe really must hate him.

Prompt - Losing you
Prompt: I don’t want to miss you like this
Tumblr media
Ice had always been a great man, one of the best aviators in the Navy that became one of the best Admiral’s. Ice and you had met after Top Gun, and you couldn’t help but fall for the great man. The two of you quickly got married and had three kids that somehow always seemed to have too much energy.
Ice loved coming home seeing the children already in the garden playing, trying to avoid doing their homework while you were in the house trying to watch them while making dinner. The holydays quickly became his favorite moments, seeing the children at Christmas morning, seeing them get dressed up as pilots for Halloween to look like their dad.
Of course, the three of them decided to follow their father’s footsteps and joined the Navy, your husband had been so proud of them that he always made sure to be there for their important moments in the Navy, just like he did when they had a sport event at school or a school play.
Tom ‘Ice’ Kazansky was a deeply respected man in the Navy and had been seen as someone that couldn’t be weak and that would always be in the Navy. You had thought the same thing, you husband was a strong man, always moving and doing things.
The day they told you that he had throat cancer made you realize just how wrong you were, no matter how strong he was, he was still human. He hadn’t really reacted to the news; he was quite literally ice cold as he asked the doctor what would be happening next. It felt like your world was falling apart as you heard the treatments the chemo he would have to do. That night you left the bed to cry silently in the bathroom not able to stop when Ice came in to hold you close as he cried with you.
No matter the treatments it still didn’t calm down and the doctors started looking grimmer by the sessions and you knew that it was going to be the end and you couldn’t do anything to stop it. Ice started telling people, your children hadn’t believed you at first and after a few hours after the news you found yourself with the three of them sobbing in your arms. Maverick, Slider, and the flyboys couldn’t believe it either and they decided to move closer to be there for Ice and you, hoping to be able to spend some time together.
After that everything went too quickly, one minute he was laughing and the next he was coughing so hard he had to be brought to the hospital and they told you that he only had a few hours left and not two or six months. Your children arrived and the flyboys quickly came with Bradley in tow who looked scared.
Everyone took a bit of time with Ice alone to say their goodbyes and you hold Slider while he sobbed in your arms after talking with Tom for the last time. Your children held each other and Bradley after saying goodbye to their father and his uncle Ice. Maverick had joined Slider and you in an embrace not hiding the tears any longer and sobbing with Slider. It was your turn and after making sure that everyone else was alright you went to your husband of thirty years who was trying to smile through the oxygen mask.
“How are you holding up handsome?”, Tom looked tired, and he took your hand softly squeezing it in reassurance. You looked at each other for a moment, like you did often in the early hours of the morning.
“I have thought of how to tell you goodbye every night since that day they told us you had cancer and I could never find the words, not being able to imagine you being gone. And even now I can’t even tell you how much I love you, Tom. You gave me three amazing children, you made me so happy even through the hard times you were always there.”, you finally feel the tears you had been holding back falling down and Tom looks pained at the sight of them, so you squeeze his hand.
“I know, you don’t like to see me cry.”, he smiles lovingly at me, and I don’t know what to do anymore.
“You are the greatest man I know, and you will always be the one for me. I knew we would lose each other one day but I never thought it would be so soon. I missed you every time you went on work trips and missed you when I didn’t saw you during the day, but I don’t want to miss you like this.”, you try to stop the tears, but it seems futile as your husband tugs on your hand to bring you closer and you lie down next to him.
“I love you.”, you hear him croak out and you hold him close to you trying to not sob and asking him not to leave you behind, not yet. You don’t feel ready to see him go and go back home without him knowing he wouldn’t be coming home.
“I love you too.”, you feel his hand softly caress yours and you lift your head up to see his steely blue eyes looking tired and you know that this is it.
“It’s alright, we are going to be okay.”, you reassure him, knowing that he would try to stay if he knew you weren’t going to be okay.
“You don’t need to worry we’ll figure everything out.”, he looks unsure, but you squeeze his hand holding it tightly.
“You can rest now, I’m here. We can sleep together for a bit, you look tired.”, he nods softly and smiles at you full of love. You cherish his smile, knowing this is the last one you will get. He closes his eyes and falls asleep and after a few minutes you feel his heartbeat stop.
You stay there not wanting to believe it just yet, that that feeling of losing him that you never wanted to feel will settle in soon. You will have to miss him in a way that you tried to avoid.

@aki-draws-things
Okay so first off I’m playing fast and loose with timelines and ages. Just know I picture Jake born in 1988 so he’s 34 in tgm.
Christopher Cameron Seresin
He’s about 5’10. Which isn’t short but good god Slider is a fucking moose.
He’s blonde af and has a collection of tattoos from above his elbow and knees, Jake loves coloring them in when he’s young. His favorite colors are light blue and green.
Two sisters, one older one younger.
Not necessarily a bad relationship with his parents just one he knew he wanted to have better for his kids. His parents weren’t exactly supportive of him being gay. They refused to acknowledge it. But it was fairly fine and didn’t cause any real issues when he was growing up.
He became a firefighter because he saw a house fire take away his grandma when he was 7. She had left a candle burning and forgotten. He got burned on the right side of his head from where he was asleep on the couch. The scars aren’t completely noticeable but if you know what you are looking for you can see them on his ear pretty easily.
Absolutely obsessed with cats. He’s gotten yelled at multiple times by Ron and his captain for going back into burned houses for pets
Literally always knew he was gay. His older sister would have magazines and he was obsessed. She would always let him take them after she got bored with them.
His younger sister was always a bit bonkers. They aren’t super close but not from a lack of trying on Chris’ part, when she leaves at 18 after graduation with a boyfriend no one is shocked.
In Highschool he was such the pretty boy. All the girls thought he was gorgeous. He didn’t really care about them but would always try to be nice when he said no to dates.
He meets Ron at age 24. Ron is 25. Chris is terrified of losing Ron when he flies. But he doesn’t actually realize that Ron is just as scared of losing him to a fire that goes wrong.
Chris LOVES dancing in clubs. It took months for him to convince the three of them a gay club in Texas in a town two hours away from where they live isn’t going to out them instantaneously. Mav ends up loving it Tom likes it until he gets jealous, Ron enjoys watching Chris be happy.
They get engaged after top gun. Chris technically isn’t supposed to know how close it got to Ron not coming home but he knows just by how Ron holds onto him when he lands in Texas with three months off.
Tom and Mav follow a month later and they all live together for those remaining two months
Chris meets Maverick and they instantly like each other. Mav and him can completely disassemble a car together and put it back in better condition.
Ice and Slider are terrified of their boyfriends when they are together, they literally don’t speak and just know what the other person needs (Ron and Tom do the exact same thing they just don’t realize it)
Jake comes into their lives in 1988, he’s barely a week old. Chris’ younger sister asked to meet for coffee and brought Jake along, she’s clearly using. She asks Chris to take Jake. She can’t do it. It’s Chris or foster care.
Chris takes Jake without a bit of hesitation. Ron comes home from meetings all day to a baby sobbing from his own withdrawals and sees Chris crying right along with Jake.
Those next few months are some of the worst, it crushes Ron to hear Jake scream like he does at night. Chris takes basically all of his time off he can, his captain fully understands and supports him the best he can. Chris is sleep deprived for months until Ron is up again for reenlistment.
Jake is 9 months old at that point and Ron only agrees to reenlist because they promise him a promotion with a guaranteed stay in one place for two years.
Ron is secretly terrified that Jake isn’t going to like him because he’s been gone so often. Slightly irrational but still a fear. It’s a stupid fear, Jake is obsessed with his other dad. He loves sitting on Ron’s lap and listening to Ron read.
Chris is also obsessed with listening to Ron read. It’s extremely comforting to him to listen to the man he loves read to their son. Son! They have a son!!
Wow can you tell I got hyper-focused and I really rambled for a while there sorry I got excited- please ask questions or please write things if you are inspired!! I’m always happy to answer!!

I know you’re busy with whumptober so get to this whenever- but! I need more ER nurse Jake, angst, or fluff, or insanity.
I can see is him being exhausted and falling asleep on everyone and getting passed around from shoulder to shoulder.
Short, but connected to the whumptober too... kind of "Hold My hand" , no I'm not sorry
Whumptober 2023~
Fandom: top gun
Characters: jake hangman seresin, Ron Slider Kerner (plus tom amd Chris)
Prompts: overcrowded er
Warning: cancer mention
Summary: it's a busy day at the er when Jake turns and finds his papa there. Obviously.
When Jake chose that career he knew his motivation went beyond having been inspired by uncle Lucas, it was what uncle called a calling. Almost in a religious kind of way. Jake, he said, was meant to do that, it was written since the instant he was born, and all the sort of things people would tell about spiritual callings.
Honestly, Jake simply wanted to help people, it was a physical need, nothing spiritual or shit.
The ER was a mess that day. Not a moment of peace, not a moment he could retreat himself to the bathroom for 5 seconds. Well, okay, he would pee later, that was fine.
"Seresin!" An older nurse called and Jake sighed. Jesus christ, he only took his phone out one second to check if there were any text, was she going to scold him for that?!
"Yeah, yeah... coming."
When he turned around Tata was there. Jake felt sick. He felt his stomach drop and--
"No. No jakey, nothing like that."
Tata always said he wore his feelings on hos face all the time, Jake knew what he probably looked like.
"We just thought an ER trip would've been safer, all considered, we were having a bit of a struggle to stop the bleeding."
Jake nodded and took a deep breath. He followed tom toward the chair papa was occupying. Papa who looked up and lit up at seeing Jake, like Jake used to do when he was little. Oh, how the tables had turned.
"Chickie don't listen to them, it's just a little cut." Jake nodded. He was tired and needed really bad that bathroom break, but that was papa and he had a cut in his hand and Jake didn't feel as tired anymore.
"But better be safe, yeah? Come, let's clean and cover it up."
Jake loved his job, he loved helping people, and maybe uncle Lucas was right, it was some sort of calling in the end. But one thing was helping and saving and fixing people he didn't know, another was taking his Papa's hand and disinfect and patch up a little cut that didn't want to stop bleeding.
"I should ring the oncologist on shift." Jake muttered and papa chuckled.
"For a cut? No, don't bother them, I'll see mine tomorrow morning anyway."
Jake held onto his hand a little longer. He could feel the bones, the skin frail under his fingers, breaking so easily, bleeding so much.
"They always said easy bleeding was a common side effect."
"You should've been more careful."
"I was, baby. It's just a little, cut, Dad and Tata panicked."
But not him, Jake realized not without a pang of sadness. Never him.
"I'll be fine."
Jake was about to say something when someone called him again. Jake swallowed and papa gave him a little push.
"Off you go, looks like we chose a busy night. Go, chickie."
With a sigh Jake pressed a kiss over his head and ron chuckled.
"Go."
"I'll take you to visit tomorrow, okay?"
Ron smiled and waved quietly as Jake run off again.

Is y/n in dont stand close to me pregnant ? Just a guess because her mom said she looked like she gained weight ? Or is her mother just critical of her and that will play out in the story to add tension? I dont know but your story has really got me thinking !
Tumblr media
CONTEXT TO THE KAZANSKY FAMILY DYNAMIC IN DON'T STAND SO CLOSE TO ME
I'm actually happy someone picked up on the possible Y/N's pregnancy in the fic considering I'm building the plot as I go and don't really have any components set in stone, it's simply a possibility
I would like to add this as a side note; it's hinted at in part one and heavily in part two, Y/N is a very anxious person that is plagued with self-doubt, considering the only person that has been constant in her life is her father. So the parts of her mother or "other" characters being horrible to Y/N, are going to be a big part of how Y/N processes upcoming situations.
However, I feel like I should put some context on how the family dynamic is.
I figured Tom "Iceman" and Marie-Ann Kazansky were married a little bit before his Top Gun days and had their first child soon after, the idea is they had their three kids in the six-ish or so years since they were married. But, Ice was heavily active in the Navy during their childhoods, so he isn't as close to his older children as he is with Y/N.
Y/N is set between the age of 20 to 22 (max) in the fic, which leaves a huge age gap between her siblings and her. So at the time that Y/N was born, Ice had risen through the ranks and had more "Free time" to spend at home, which expands their close bond.
Now the reason why ^ this is important, it helps explain why Y/N's mother is so harsh on her. Marie-Ann Kazansky loves all her children but she feels a little envious (if that makes sense) of Y/N because of how her husband dotes on Y/N.
Marie-Ann was the primary caretaker of three kids the majority of the time when Iceman was away, It's obvious she holds a grudge against her husband for not taking more time off to be around his older children.
Another component that factors into Y/N's mother being so critical is Iceman usually takes Y/N's side and defends her against anyone and everyone.. even his own wife like in part one of Don't Stand So Close To Me
Ex.
“Looks like college hasn’t been kind to your figure, dear” Marie-Ann Kazansky’s judgemental eyes scrutinized her daughter’s frame.
“Ignore her sweetheart, her vision isn’t that good anymore and you look absolutely gorgeous” her father passed her on the way to a kitchen with a soft kiss placed on her temple, while ignoring his wife’s rolling eyes.
This isn't the first time nor the last time Tom has done this ^^^
When Y/N was younger, I feel like Ice spoiled her being "Daddy's Princess" and it just end up carrying on throughout her life. I figured when Y/N was in her teenage years if she wanted to go hang out with friends on a school night or something, her mom would say no and Y/N would just go ask her Dad, who would give her a kiss on the cheek "Of course sweetheart" all while her mother is deathly glaring the two of them.

Scout Headcanons:
-Keeps BONK! hidden under his hat.
-Because he is a runner, he has legs that he could crush your SKULL with.
-Has a LOT of scars on his legs, in fact he just has a lot of scars in general.
-The reason for this is that he will often get a lot of injuries that he doesn't notice, even if they are very severe.
-So he will often unknowingly let them heal, and then after they heal they leave scars.
-Hates that anything grape or cherry flavored because of how artificial they taste.
-Hides snacks in the sling that he uses to hold his gun.
-Was in the military at one point, but was dishonorably discharged after he attempted to murder one of his coworkers.
-Loves meteor showers and firework shows, but tries to hide it.
-Often will accidentally shoot himself in the foot.
-Has a gunshot wound on his chest.
-He is really good at sewing.
-His mother taught him when he was younger after he would often rip up his clothing from rough housing.
-Nobody knows it but Sniper and Pyro.
-Sniper kept it a secret and in return he repairs any rips that he gets in his clothing.
-One day though Scout was having a bad day, so when Sniper asked him to repair he clothing he told him to fuck off.
-So Sniper told the entire team.
-Now everyone on the team BEGS him to repair their clothing.
-He will do it, but only if he is paid.
-Usually with BONK!
-Will often space out during the start of fights.
-Will run as a coping mechinism.
-If he is stressed, angry, sad, or just bored he will run for hours upon hours on end.
-Sometimes will even pass out from exhaustion because of this.
-Sings in the shower, usually Tom Jones songs.
-Ultimate mamas boy.
-Acts like he is hot shit to secretly cover up that he is an insecure mess.
-During his first couple of months at base, he was genuinely scared of everyone there.
-Especially Pyro.
-His room is really messy, like SUPER messy.
-And not the type of messy where everything looks unorganized but the person who lives in it can find everything easily.
-Its the type where you live in a genuine mess.
-Calls Sniper "Snipes."
-Sniper hates this.
-Also, is not allowed to drive anybody's cars anymore after her drove Snipers van into a ditch and didn't have enough money to pay for repairs.
-Constantly seeking validation, and is a BIG attention seeker.
-But this is because of deep rooted anxiety based around his dad leaving him.
-Sorta touch starved.
-Not sorta actually, very touch starved.
-Started crying after Engie hugged him once he left the room.
-Super insecure about his looks and personality.
-Knows he's annoying, and hates himself for it but he can't help it.
-Used to have a pet squirrel plushie when he was younger that he named "Chucklenuts."
-Tries so little that when he actually does something with full effort, it's above average.
-People called him an idiot because of this behavior and eventually he started to internalize it.
-Once had a mental breakdown on field after he got overwhelmed by all the fighting.
-Makes really good popcorn.
-Bi, work on the internalized biphobia.
-Demiboy and transmasc.
-Used to DIY bind, but once Medic saw that he was transmasc he happily did his top surgery.
-The surgery went so well that he has almost no scar from it.
-Has some forms of neuro-divergence, abandonment issues, and PTSD from all the fighting.

I miss her too
Pairings: Dad!Tom Holland x reader
Summary: Your and Tom’s daughter comes home having made something at school, for you. She desires to share it with you any way possible.
Warnings: sad, typos, mentions of death
Word Count: 1.3K
A/n: I’m back. Hoping to start part 2 to Guns, Glamour and Goodfellas. This a short blurb or possible one shot, whatever you call it. Still new to this. Wrote this spur the moment. Flashbacks are in bold.
Tom made it a priority to have dinner every night with his daughter, Poppy. It was a tradition that you reinforced. One that Tom liked to keep around even after. You would cook all these elaborate meals And Tom tries to live up to your cooking skills but would ultimately fail and seek the help of Sam.
Tom set the table and served Poppy as she sat at table, swinging her legs back and forth. There, sat the 5 year old girl, across from Tom. He watched her as she fiddled with her fork, just rearranging the veggies on her plate, not bothering to eat.
“So love, how was daycare?” Tom inquired curbing as he watched his daughter fiddle with her fork, just rearranging the veggies on her plate, not bothering to eat.
“We made cards for mumma’s day,” Poppy explained all giddy inside.
“Mother’s day?” Tom asked, his mind drifting elsewhere. He couldn’t believe it was already May and it was the first one without you.
“Yes, mine has pretty flowers on it. Wanna see it?” Poppy grew excited she practically jumped out of her chair.
“Sure baby doll, you can show me after dinner,” Tom murmured, still caught up on the fact that it was almost 5 months since.
“I’ll go get it!”
“Poppy wait, wash your hands first, please.” Tom called out but knew Poppy would carry on just like before. That girl marched to the beat of her own drum but Tom indulged in every beat. She is the spitting image of you.
“Here, look I wrote something.” She said holding the card up in front of him. It was adorned with glitter and stickers. Pink construction paper, pink flowers and pink doodles. Pink was Poppy’s favorite color, everything was pink from her shoes to her hair bows.
“C’mere lovie, show me,” Tom whispered, pulling her into her lap. “Darling this is so beautiful. What did you write?”
“It says, happy mumma’s day mumma. I love you soooooo much. I miss you too, so does dadda. We miss you.” She said with her faint lisp.
Tom listened to his daughter struggle to get the words out. Focusing on her breathing as she sounded out most words. He tried to only focus on that. Not letting his mind to stray to place he has been avoiding for a few months.
Next week marks the time stamp of living 5 months without you. Without your smile in the morning. Without your laugh that was so infectious at the time it would make your newborn giggle til she was burdened with a case of the hiccups. Without your love.
Life grew darker and sadder, but Tom didn’t give himself the chance to grieve. Too busy worrying about the life you both brought into the world. The girl that lite up his life was his only priority. Everything changed when his beautiful and amazing family of three became a two.
Tom now rarely took jobs outside of London, wanting to stay close for Poppy. He felt guilty always leaving her with his parents all the time. No one really knows how kids at the age process a loss but he hoped Poppy would remember all the amazing moments of you.
Ones that held a special place in his heart were right after the sun had risen. Poppy’s wake up calls.
She did the same thing since he can remember. Always busting through the door in the morning. Jumping on t bed then begging for food. It was good thing you were a morning person.
One time when you were weaker than you had ever been, she jumped right on top of you.
“Mumma! Dadda! Wake up!” You were jolted out of sleep from a shock that rang through your fragile frame. You gasped at the sudden body slammed on top of yours.
“Poppy Marie Holland! What did we talk about being careful with mommy? Honey are you okay?” Tom shouted quietly.
“I’m ok, Tom. I really am,” you said breathlessly.
“I’m sorry Mumma, I didn’t mean to hurt you,” Poppy whispered.
“It’s ok baby, c’mere. So what did you dream about my flower,” you said, pulling her into your lap as you peppered kisses all over her face. Giggles erupted as you pressed a finger to her nose.
“Well I dreamt of…” Poppy would trail off to these fantastical dreams. It amazes you how she could think such imaginative scenes.
Every morning was like that. Different topics of conversation but always began with a dose of Poppy bright and early.
Even after everything. It was a grad adjust for her. One minute you were there and next you weren’t.
Tom’s nightly routine shifted. Every night he would go to sleep dreaming of you. Dreaming of the life you were supposed to share. And every morning he would wake up with tears in his eyes as he felt the empty side of the bed.
Desperately trying to bring himself back to the place with you in it. It was a gut punch every morning, always coming to the realization that you were gone.
However, like clockwork he is reminded of the one shining star in his life as she bursts into his room and hops on the bed. Jumping up and down to get him to wake up.
“Dadda, wake up. Wake up!” Poppy shouted as she waddled up to the bed, trying to climb on. Her nightgown was a little too big, but she wore it because you had.
“Daddy’s awake lovie. Just one second.” Tom jolted, brushing the wetness from his eyes.
“Come on, I want pancakes,” Poppy pleaded.
“Pancakes huh? Mommy’s specialty with Mnm’s inside?” Tom reminisced at all the mornings of breakfast together as a full family.
“Ya, can momma make them?” Poppy asked, it was hard for her to understand the events that just occurred. Tom wasn’t very good at explaining it either. The most he could muster up, is mommy’s not here anymore.
Leaving out the word “dead” or “passed away” was denying the truth from him as well. It was all too new and he didn’t know how he could accept it just yet.
“Lovie, we have talked about this remember? Mommy is not here anymore.”
“When will she be back? I miss her.”
“Umm, darling mommy is never coming back, remember baby. I told you mommy had to leave but wasn’t her choice. Lovie, I miss her too everyday,” Tom said, holding back tears.
“Dadda?” Spoke Poppy as she noticed the wet streaks across Tom’s face. Trying to bring attention back to her.
“Yes, baby.” Tom said, coming out of his trance. Tears riddled his face as he thought of all the stuff that Poppy will miss out on. More specially what you will never get to experience with her.
“Why are you sad Dadda? Did I make you sad?” Poppy asked, trying to comfort Tom the best way she knows how.
“Oh no darling. Not at all.”
“Are you sad because you miss mumma?” Poppy mumbled, her eyes getting stuck to the ground.
Tom just nodded and pressing soft kisses to her forehead. He could only hold back so many tears.
“I miss her too. You never go to the place anymore where you talk to her. I want to talk to her like you do,” Poppy pleaded.
“Lovie what place?”
“The one with the statues. You never take me anymore. We only went twice with nana. But no more,” Poppy said as she started to cry along with him.
“The cemetery?” Tom asked.
She nodded, sniffing away the tears. “Mumma misses us like we miss her. I don’t want her to think we forgot about her. I made the card because. I want to give her my card. Can we go?”
“Yes baby, I’ll take you. I promise you, you’ll never forget her. I even have videos I can show you later with her in them,” Tom explained.
“Dadda I love you,” Poppy said wrapping her hand around his neck.
“I love you too, my flower.”

Sugar and Spice Pt.1→Dad!Mob!Tom
Parings: single!dad!tom x baker!reader
Warnings: none yet! Mafia!Au so future mention of guns, death, drinking, sex, smoking
Summary: Tom is one of the youngest Mobsters known to London, youngest and most successful he seems perfect to people, feared by people. But his deepest secret is that he’s been raising a son all by himself. No one to be with since the birth of his son until he walks into the small bakery last minute for his sons birthday and meets you.
A/n; so obviously this is more of a part one to a series(I know I always start series and then get really distracted with life) but I wanted a fresh idea and a fresh fic to start off the new year. I love mob!tom and I love dad!tom and I was hoping I could mix the two💗💗(also I have no idea how to do read more on mobile I’m so sorry😭)
Tumblr media
Secrets. Everyone had secrets. Tom Holland, one of London’s richest, youngest, most successful mobsters, Had a son.
He had a beautiful boy named Riley, he raised him with only the help of his best friend and brothers. He was the smartest little boy he knew, charming and innocent. A little boy who didn’t know any of the dangers of the world just yet.
That was his secret. At age 20 he was rushed into life with the beautiful boy and one of the most stressful and dangerous jobs to manage. He did everything he could for the boy, it was always his boy before his work. Stressful days where he could put a bullet into anyone who walked in on him turned better when his son came home from school with stories.
It had been six years since his little secret was born and it was his best and hardest secret to keep.
And now he had forgotten his sons birthday cake. He was turning six years old today and Tom promised the best Spider-Man cake with iron man, hulk, all of the avengers in the flavor chocolate. Now he had to find a baker that could do all of that in the time span of six hours.
After endless calls, endless hunting, he found a small bakery in the smallest corner of London that was willing to make his son's wild fantasy come true on his special day.
Suit and all, rushed from work, Tom had walked into the small bakery. Ready to pick up the birthday cake and make his sons birthday the best one.
He was greeted with the smell of sugary frosting and warm baked goods. A career so diffrent from his as he was a man with blood on his hands and the people working here were the ones with the flour.
“Can I help you?” Your voice is soft and takes him by surprise. Not the voice of the older women he spoke with on the phone.
You’re covered in flour, chocolate frosting wiped on your apron and you rinse your hands in the sink. But you have a soft face, one that calms him just by looking at. As if you never saw a day of anger, of pain, of anything. You were simply a poem he wanted to read.
It takes him a minute to come back. He hadn’t gotten with anyone seriously since the birth of his son. Overwhelmed with his work and his son, he also had feared the idea of no women being good enough for his son.
Although his son longed for a mother, he could tell. He could tell the stories at bedtime weren’t as good as if it were a mother’s, every Mother’s Day was missed and he knows deep down that every nightmare would be better if he was cuddled up in a mother’s arms. Tom could give him everything except a mother.
“I’m here to pick up a cake.” He clears his throat. You notice the watch, the expensive suit and his scent, a deep wood, an expensive scent. He had money yet of all the bakeries he chose it was the nearly dying one. “It’s Uh, it’s my sons birthday and I’m here to pick up the cake. My name is Tom. I spoke on the phone earlier...with someone…” he stuttered nervously as if you might not have it ready. Laughing softly you find his order on the computer. Even your laugh was angelic.
“Sophie? The older women?” You ask and he nods.
“Yes, yes!” He didn’t know why he was nervous, awkward even. He shoved his hands in his pocket to keep calm.
“Avengers cake…” you look up at the man and he has a red tint to his cheek.
“My son, he’s turning six.” He didn’t spark you to have a dad look, you had seen fathers come in and out of this bakery. Most of the men in their 40s and stressed over possibly a my little pony cake or cookies for a last minute club meeting to make their kid smile. Most fathers had the same look though, tired and worn out in possibly old sneakers and a wrinkled shirt. This man had a different look.
“Ahh,” you search for a ring but don’t see one. A single, young dad who looks to have everything together. A book. He looked like a character from a book. “I’ll be right back with that.” You smiled before turning to the back. Leaving the man alone, in the lobby of the bakery.
“Quite the last minute cake.” You came out with the large cake done beautifully. Done with red and blue frosting and on top was all the small figurines that you had to search for. But nonetheless, it was gorgeous.
“Your wife must be lucky to have a man willing to run out and surprise their kid so last minute.” You sparked the conversation in hopes that you would see if the man is single or not.
“Oh, no, just myself.” He pulls out his card ready to swipe and you press down on your lips. Maybe he didn’t want a girlfriend, he was young but he looked to have his hands full with a six year old and a clearly good job.
“Well, then he’s lucky to have such a great father.” You tell. He tries to hide his red tinted cheeks again but you notice.
“Your boyfriend must be lucky to have someone who must always smell like cakes.” He flirted back.
For the first time in years, Tom had flirted back with a girl without the intentions of sex. He flirted back without needing a drink in his hands and to be at a bar. He flirted back not hiding that he had a son at home that could potentially turn away a girl looking for fun.He flirted back as just himself. And so far you had seemed to like that.
“No boy.” You laugh softly.
Your eyes flicker and stare into his. They are light brown, light brown laced with a sort of mystery. A light brown laced with charm, lust and a secret.
“Well then,” was all he could think of. His game was off, he’s realized that. The dangerous mobster got nervous around you.
“Well then.” You repeated.
It’s a mistake. He will be making a mistake if he falls for you. The mistake of ruining your life as he doesn’t know how far he could go protecting the ones he loves. Riley’s life was in danger every day and he hated that, he hated the women he once loved for leaving him all alone but was also given the best gift of a son.
Although the nappies and endless nights of screaming were hard, he would do anything to protect his son. And if he were to find the future mother of his son, he would do anything to protect her but her life would be just as risk as his.
Maybe it would be you making the mistake. He would be selfish to go after you.
“I hope your Riley has a happy birthday.” You say and he’s taken aback. He doesn’t know how you know it until he looks down and written in black frosting in cursive is ‘Happy birthday Riley’.
“Well, with the best decorated cake i think I have ever seen in my life, I’m sure he will not forget this birthday. I might not either.” He smiles at you one last time and you look down trying to hide the burning smile that wanted to spread across your face.
Once he leaves the building you turn and rub your hands over your face, finally letting yourself grow a smile that has been hiding the entire time.
For the first time in awhile, a man has made you smile.
-
“Happy birthday to you.”
Smoke from the candles filled the room. Six years, Tom had offically spent six years of his life raising his son. Being a single father as well as the youngest Mobster, Tom had his struggles.
“A girl at the bakery?” Harrison, Toms best friend, smirked as the two of them washed up dishes while the kids played in the backyard after eating their cake.
“It’s nothing Haz. I’m busy, remember?” He scrubbed too hard at the plate as he placed in into the dishwasher.
For a man who had maids most days, he wanted it to just be family and friends in the house on his sons birthday.
“Yeah. But Riley isn’t.” He commented looking over to the boy who laughed with his friends from school he had invited to celebrate the special day.
With a silent sigh and a stubborn mindset, Harrison was right. Tom was busy but Riley was a child who needed a mother.
“See? I’m right. Once again. Why don’t you go back and get your number so you can get your dick-“ his best friend started but Tom didn’t want to hear the rest of it. Rolling his eyes and turning off the water, he walks over the ruined cake and places it on the counter.
No words leave Toms mouth and Harrison lets out a sigh. Coming over to his best friend, his best friend who seemed to have the world on his shoulders only at the age of 25.
“Tom, this isn’t just about Riley. This is about you as well. This is about you finding someone and finally having some peace because your life right now is simply just working and at the end of the day being a father. Sooner or later, Riley will realize his dad is always locked up in his office and maybe a women can change some things.” Harrison placed his hand on his shoulder before walking off.
“Daddy!” He hears the excitement of his sons voice come into the room.
“Hey Bubs!” He lifts up the boy. He plants a kiss on his cheek and he holds his new Spider-Man toy in hand.
“Can Jasper sleep over? He says he has a Spider-Man too and that we can play together. Can he please?” He pleads. For Riley, Harrison’s words echo in his head about the women.
Tom sighs, if he had a mother who wasn’t apart of a mafia like him. He would simply not have to deny his boy sleepovers and simple things.
“Sure.” He sighs thinking of how he will have to move his 8am meeting to the afternoon.
His best friend was right. He needed someone and maybe that someone would be you. Maybe he should for once take the leap and go for you.
Please leave feedback it helps me out and let’s me know if you want another part!

I'm still processing Season 6 and as an unpopular opinion I'm not too happy about it as a whole. I feel horrible for not enjoying it as much as the Cast/Crew would like me to, but I just can’t change this feeling I have.
Just to clear my head I'll write the things down that irked me. I don't want to start any discussion, they're only my thoughts on stuff ‘n thangs. Huge spoilers ahead, please don’t read if you haven’t watched.
Michael
I admit it, I have probably more sympathy for the bad twin than I should. And after the whole S5 I thought we get a bit more closure with him. I didn’t expect a redemption arc, after Michael killed Remiel, Dan and Chloe it would have felt wrong. But after the “Everyone deserves a second chance” the dude is down in hell, scrubbing the floor with a toothbrush. Really, Lucifer? That’s cruel after such a righteous line.
When Luci realized he could help everyone, even if he hated them, I hoped for a dive into the twins’ relationship but it was like Michael didn’t even existed anymore. And if someone needed therapy it would be the twin with the huge inferior complex. That could have been so interesting. (I had hoped that he'd sat on the couch at the end, but noooo we get the Frenchman.. such a disappointment.)
Maybe Tom Ellis didn’t want to play 2 roles again, or there was no time, but I feel that was a huge opportunity wasted.
What even was the plan of Michael? To get God to retire and wreck havoc on earth to get Dad back, so Mickey can take over as the new God? And then what? Wipe out humanity? I see no endgame here.
Ella
I liked Ella’s Story so far. But she stole the personal file of Carol and even broke into his house.. and everybody is cool with this? Carol might be crushing on Ella pretty hard but if somebody tells you they broke into your house, because they feared you were hiding something bad, You run for the hills. But the dude isn’t even phased.
I’m glad Carol is a good guy, though. Even if he’s kind of bland.
Ella finding out the truth on her own came out of nowhere. I would have found it better if they would have her act a little suspicious over the whole S5. But since they wrote S6 while S5 was shot, a little to late for this.
The scene at the wedding was amazing. I had so much fun with her outburst there.
Dan
Ghost!Dan was my favorite by far in this season. And I really liked how he wanted to help and tried to find out what he still felt guilty about.
I am so glad he got to spend his afterlife with Charlotte and I laughed so hard with the pudding. Didn’t expect that, in a positive matter. :D
The scene with Trixie killed me. Bawled so hard as soon as Kevin got teary eyes. That really gripped at my heartstrings.
But how could he go to heaven while in a body of a killer when his daughter stands right next to that killer?
Comedy-wise Dan is top notch
Trixie
I missed her so much.
It felt like she was an afterthought with everything. She recently lost her Dad and Chloe spends most of the time with Lucifer. I really missed the scenes with her and Luci, they always were so adorable.
They explain it later that she’s at a science camp, but I honestly thought Chloe chooses Lucifer (and later Rory too) over her.
She wasn’t at Chloe’s deathbed but here I’m not sure if the scene with Rory isn’t placed somewhere at the threshold to heaven where only celestials are able to enter. But if she wasn’t there because Chloe sidelined her in favor of Rory, then I can understand her absence.
Linda
I love Linda, she always gives good advice but nobody’s ever took it.
Her book probably would fly under the fantasy tag if she ever published it. Still, it felt cringey.
It was so sad that she thought she was a bad therapist.
Apparently she wants to keep helping celestials because it’s better than helping humans. In the end, celestials have the same problems as humans just on a bigger scale. But okay.
Amenadiel
Amenacop was good, and a nice nod to Dan who put in the application.
It made him realize that he only can change things when he has more power. I’m white and no american so I don’t know if the BLM theme there was well enough executed. Got me wondering.
The apocalypse just being Angels who are incompetent was a letdown. Like this whole season.
I really like him as god. And I am glad he took the position in the end. Even if he could have decided this a bit earlier.
Rory
I like her sarcasm and her character.
Didn’t like the whole time travel, time loop and daughter spiel. I’m not a big fan of time travels or couples getting a kid just for the sake of a happy end or to add extra drama. I could have lived without a Deckerstar baby. Instead they could have focused on Trixie for a change.
The time she spent with Lucifer on the 4th August was precious though.
How in hell did the Frenchman capture her? How did he even know how she looked? IIRC Dan hasn’t seen Rory while in that body. Dan just went over to Trixie that’s why I thought he’d capture her and not Rory.
Lucifer
He found his calling to help the souls in hell only because Rory traveled back in time? No man, he already took the step with Jimmy Barnes in preparation to take over as god. I don’t think it’s far fetched to believe that he would have the same epiphany without Rory there.
But without Rory, he wouldn’t have been helping Ghost!Dan to go to heaven. Though, before Rory traveled back in time, Lucifer was already trying to help Dan. They probably would have needed more time to figure out about what Dan felt guilty about, but figure it out anyways.
How did he even got Chloe pregnant? Was it his subconscious deciding he was ready to be a father? Amenadiel had to believe that he was human to get Linda pregnant. Or maybe it’s because they always thought they couldn’t impregnate a human and self-actualized it that way. Anyways, it’s a tiny hang-up I have with it.
Somebody else besides me thought that the scene in the panic room was awkwardly long? I know they thought Lucifer would vanish somehow, but it seemed too much to me.
His singsong while the magician talked about the trick. :D
I don’t want to even get into the whole time loop thing because I think it’s ridiculous(ly bad).
It took a lot of time for him to realize that he didn’t want to be god, after he put it on hold for a second time. Even Chloe could have asked him if that is really what he wanted. Could have spared us an episode or so. Why is the communication on this show so bad? Q.Q
I loved that he helped Maze with Eve to get the wedding back on after their fight.
He didn’t say goodbye to Trixie  - again. What a nice step-devil..
It’s been Chloe, Rory and his family since he found out she’s his daughter. Not even mentioning the one kid who probably loved him before even Chloe fell for him.
For someone who is all about free will and led a rebellion against God for it, he was quick to accept that he has a “fate”. I thought he’d find another way, or at least try to. Nope, he just did what his child wanted. And they disguised it at his “choice”. Doesn’t look like a choice to me if your daughter begs you for it and you have to promise it. Just getting along with what your child wants.
Why does everyone need to shoot him? Just cut him until he bleeds. The Americans and their fixation on guns. Nice parallel to Chloe though.
Lucifer trying to fix the relationship to Rory with gifts was so cringey. I don’t know why but I couldn’t watch him sing/dance in that scene.
Both him and Amenadiel didn’t want to become like their Dad because of the reasons stated in S5, yet Lucifer exactly did. Another letdown.

Chloe
As soon as she knew Rory was her and Lucifer’s daughter it was all only about Lucifer and Rory. No thought of Trixie? I understand she was worried about being a bad mother to Rory, but come on, you’re being a bad mother to your first child right now.
She was ready to go to heaven with Lucifer. And Trixie does what exactly without her parents? Living with her Grandma because one of her parent died and the other one is abandoning her? It’s like the writers forgot about Trixie while forcing Rory on us.
The addiction to the necklace got old pretty fast.
And that whole fight against Lucifer felt unnecessary just to add more drama.
She gets mad at Lucifer for not telling her everything while not telling him that she went back to the LAPD. It’s Lucifer, he always has things on his plate. Double moral, pretty much.
She looked so gorgeous at the wedding, oh my god.
Most of the Deckerstar scenes were good. I got tired of the obvious naked cuddle times, surprisingly. Somehow it felt not like the ones in S5 and it bothered me.
I thought Chloe would finally get to know about everything Lucifer did for her, but I didn’t expect her to read it in Linda’s book. And that she only took away that he left her every time they had an emotional breakthrough.
They spend Lucifer’s last day at the beach and once again, no thought of Trixie. I’m sorry I repeat myself here so often. But this whole season wronged Trixie so much.
They face the baddie without any backup.  At least get Amenadiel with you.
Other things
The use of music between scenes was too much for me. Got annoying at some point.
I appreciate that they wanted to show us snippets of past Deckerstar scenes but here too, I felt like it was too much.
Couldn’t really follow the timeline. Maybe it were the cuts.
What’s been the point of bringing Adam into the mix? Just to wrap up Maze and Eve’s story? For Linda having another celestial to therapy?
The animation in the Jimmy Barnes Hell loop was AMAZING. I laughed so hard.
I’m not saying that Deckerstar shouldn’t have sacrificed everything for the time loop to stay intact, I say that the whole daughter-time travel plot shouldn’t have had happened. They never even talked about having kids, and then ignore the whole existence of the one kid that’s already there.
I really need all the Michaella fanfics, please. My first ship that’s actually a raft, because they never officially have met. RIP lmao
The acting was great as usual, all my problems come from the writing and the plot.
In the end, I really feel frustrated, underwhelmed and disappointed by the whole season. I didn’t have high expectations other than the same writing quality like S5. My excitement for that Season died as soon as Rory told Lucifer that she’s his daughter, to be honest. I waited for a plot twist that never came. Then the whole time loop shit.  I’d rather have waited one more year for S6 if the plot would have made more sense, since this felt like a first draft of a whole other show. And now I wished that S5 would have been the last season. If I could travel back in time, I’d rather not watch S6.
I can honestly live with the fact that Luci and Chloe are in hell, trying to help souls to get to heaven. (But hello, not the murderers perhaps? Or I want Michael sitting on that couch right now.) But the fact that both “chose” to sacrifice their time together with their family and friends just because it’s fate now and parents have to make sacrifices for their children; and anyways there’s an afterlife because (human) life is just a blip in our existence… nah thank you. I do not want it.
I’m probably not gonna rewatch S6 anytime soon.

Marinette: Stone Cold
Tumblr media
Ok so i love this prompt but it took forever to get to. And as soon as I did its like suddenly I was swamped with everything. So frustrating. But I finally finished it. And I love it. @vixen-uchiha
Marinette was six-years-old when her parents died in a car crash. She had been at school when the vice principle, Mrs. Valmontes, stopped by and pulled her out of class. The little black haired girl had known something was wrong instantly as Valmontes had smiled just a little hard at her and much more gently than what she was known for.
Still, she had been really surprised to see Office Raincomprix, her classmate Sabrina’s dad, waiting for her in the principle. Marinette always thought he was really nice; always jolly and quick to lend a hand to the teacher at the end of the day if he got to class early to pick up Sabrina. However, he too, seemed rather despondent when Marinette entered the room. His partner, a rookie named Lorna, looked really sad too.
They took her down to the station where she was led to one of the back offices. Sabrina’s dad waited with her there. And then woman name Susanna LeFlont, who Marinette would later learn was a grief counselor. Then they told her.
Susanna held her as she cried and begged and called them liars, until she couldn’t cry anymore. And then they gave her a stuffed animal, and said they would try calling her relatives to pick her up.
They came back an hour later, saying they got ahold of her parents’ emergency contact…
           Marinette’s Uncle Jareth Dupain.
She had frowned when they said his name because to her he had never been Jareth Dupain. No, he was always her cool Uncle Jagged. So it took her a second to remember that his real name was Jareth Dupain-Stone, her father’s younger half-brother. Marinette even briefly remember her dad mentioning having to change their emergency contact after his mom, Gina, passed away a few ago.
He was only 20 when Marinette born and he was always a budding Rockstar so he wasn’t around too much. And 6 years later he was the biggest rockstar in the world. Still, that didn’t stop him from rushing to the police station, Penny hot on his trail, and pulled his sweet niece into the biggest hug he could.
Jagged took his niece to the hotel room to get her settled and had Penny go back to the bakery to get some of her things. He didn’t think it was a smart idea to take her there yet; not when the wounds were still so fresh.
Still as the twenty-six year old Rockstar stared at the small form cuddled up to Fang, he realized for the first time that he was all Marinette had in the world; the only family she had left. The only family he had left.
So he knew, despite the lawyers taking days to contact him regarding who Marinette’s guardian would be, that it was him. Jagged was the person Tom had entrusted to protect and watch the most precious thing he had the entire world; his daughter. And he wouldn’t let his brother down.
Tom had always been the best big brother anyone could have. And when Jagged’s own father, Tom’s Stepfather (as tom’s own father had suffered a heartache when Tom was a teen), had walked out, Tom had stepped up. He showed Jagged, who was still called Jareth at the time, how to be a man. He believed in Jagged’s rockstar dream when Jagged didn’t even believe in them himself.
Jagged would do right Tom, by Sabine; he would do what they would do if the situation was reversed and they were given Jagged’s kid to care for.
He would raise Marinette as he own. And though he knew would never come close to being the father that Tom Dupain had been…
Jagged would damn well try to be.
Jagged Stone, Shattered Roses, Nightmare’s Hail Mary, Unmasked Dragon, True Born Rejects, and Emancipated Mirrors were some of the biggest rock band in the world. Whenever, they went on tour together, they were the epitome of what people thought Rock Stars were. They were loud. They partied all night. Groupies hung around everywhere. To them, it was paradise. When all the bands were invited to go on the Kings of Neverland tour, with Jagged Stone headlining, they expected very much the same as they were used to. Jagged always had the most Rockin tour bus. His parties were legendary. They came to expect it.
However, when Neon Savage (front man of the Shattered Roses), Austin Knight (Leader of Unmasked dragon and lead Guitarist), and Niklaus Bane (Lead vocalist of True Born Rejects) showed up with beers and all other sorts of alcohol the day before their opening concert for the tour, they came across something very unexpected.
Or rather someone.
A little Asian girl with pigtails in her Blue hair, a tiara on her head, in a rainbow tutu paired with a black too large Guns N Roses shirt, her hand on her hips, no shoes, and a rather large crocodile next to her.
“What’s with the ballerina?” Austin asked. He had dyed silver hair done in a stereotypical emo style, grey eyes, and too many piercings. He was slim and tall.
Niklaus sighed in relief, “Oh good, you see her too!” He had curly blond hair, dark brown eyes, and wore mostly black. He had ripped jeans and a red tie. The tie was as red as the whites of his looked. “Why is your hair blue?”
“Because Uncle said I could,” She answered and pointed a figure at them, “You’re not supposed to be here.”
Savage scoffed, “You got that twisted, kid.” He was a bulk guy, with long dark hair, and a severe expression on his face. His arms were covered in tattoos. He played in a metal band, and it was obvious. “Where’s your mommy?”
“Dead,” The little girl said bluntly. “I live with my Uncle Jagged now. This his tour bus, and you’re not supposed to be here.” She glared at them. “Fang, Stranger Danger!”
What happened next was a bit of a blur. One minute they were fine, the next they were being chased around Jagged’s tour bus by a rather vicious crocodile while pint-sized twerp laughed.
Lucky for them, their yells for help were overheard by Penny and Jagged who had been working in back, “What’s going on?” Penny asked as she ran in.
“Mates, what the h. e. double hockey sticks is going on?” Jagged asked right on his assistant’s tail.
Austin, who had jumped on top one of the shelves, gave Jagged a confused look, “Better question; what the hell did you just say?”
“Ooohhhh! There’s five bucks for the swear jar!” The little girl taunted.
Jagged glared at rockstar, “Watch it! A Kid’s in the room!”
Savage glared at his longtime friend, “Who the fuck do you think set Fang on us?!” He cast a dark look at the crocodile. “Stranger danger my ass! I’ve known you sent you hatched, you overgrown cheap pair of boots.”
“That’s ten buck for the swear jar!” The girl said.
“Ten bucks?” Austin frowned. “Kinda of steep for just two swear words.”
“I swear to God-” Savage growled but was cut off.
“Chill, mate,” Jagged said. “This is my niece Marinette.” He gave her a loving smile. She beamed up at him brightly. He had been taking care of her for a year now. “I told ya about her.”
“You didn’t say she was Satan!” Austin whined. Fang had bitten him, the slowest of the three, quite a lot, and he had a giant hole in his jacket.
“I’m not Satan,” Marinette huffed. “I’m a ballerina, princess, Rockstar on my way to a tea party with Duchess Rosy Sparkles, of the Unicorn Fairies. And guess what, you’re not invited!”
“Oh that’s just mean,” Niklaus complained.
“She sicked a mini dinosaur on us,” Savaged hissed.
“Yeah, well, now she hurt my feelings.”
Jagged sighed. The guys were some of his closest friends, and by the look up the “entertainment” they brought, they were ready to raze it up like always. But things had changed. Jagged couldn’t be that guy anymore. “Marinette’s staying with me from now on,” He reminded them. “No parties on the tour. She has a bedtime. And doesn’t need to see “us” at our finest, no matter how Rockin we are.” Jagged shrugged. “Spread the world, my bus is off limits.”
The rock stars grumbled a bit but didn’t leave. They could hang with Jagged without presence of booze, weed, loud music, and groupies. It would be a little weird but they’d managed. Jagged was their friend; they’d known him before any of them became famous and stayed close well after. They hadn’t been there for him as much as they wanted to after Tom died; too many commitments, too many required appearances in different countries that had taken them away. But they were there now. And if being there for one of their best friends meant regularly chilling with a six-year-old, then they’d deal.
Savage grunted, “Austin, get rid of the booze.”
“By ‘get rid of’, I assume you meant put back in my tour bus,” The silver haired guitarist corrected.
Niklaus raised his hand like he was a student in class, “I get the whole no alcohol thing; that stuff will kill ya. But what your feelings on pot?”
Jagged just sighed. It was going to be a long summer.
The three musician, and even the other Rockers on tour, slowly but surely got used to the seemingly near constant presence of a six-year-old around Jagged or running around backstage. And the swear jar was a serious thing. It didn’t count when they were singing on stage but off it and anywhere near Marinette and they found themselves forking over five dollars for ever swear word. It added up a lot. And quickly.
Jagged’s tour bus, instead of being the Party palace it used to be, now was the chill zone. It was also the cleanest of all the tour buses. No empty beer bottles everywhere. No one random passed out anywhere. No having to watch out for throw up. No rabid fans, as Jagged had increased his security to Tony Stark worthy levels.
All they had to do was mind their manners and remember that Marinette was very impressionable at her age.
“OH screw you!!!!!!” Savage roared as he jumped up and frantically mashed buttons on his controller. “I’m not losing!”
They had been babysitting Marinette all day while Jagged did an interview Buzzfeed.
Austin snickered, “Says you.” His character raced past Savage’s. Only for something to hit him and send poor little Yoshi spinning out of control. “Did you- did you just blue shell me, bitch?” He hissed at Niklaus.
“Nooo!” Niklaus said sarcastically. “Hey!!! Not nice, brat!” He told Marinette after a banana caused him to slip off the ice.
Marinette smiled easily, but there was a determined look in her eyes. Her hair was jelled into a faux-hawk courtesy of Ashley Crimson, from lead singer for Emancipated Mirrors, an all-girl punk rock band.
“Die, scumbag!” Ashley roared as her racer zoomed by. She was a vivacious redhead. Her and her bandmates got used to being some of the only girls around that weren’t either working for one of the rock stars or were scantily clad fangirls who do “anything” to get backstage.
“You’re going down, twerp!” Savage told Marinette.
“Bite me!” She snapped back just as Jagged and Penny walked into the tour bus.
Jagged crossed his arms, “What did you morons do to my sweet little niece?”
“Nothing!” Niklaus, Ashley, Savage, and Austin chimed together.
“Savage taught me to throw a punch, and or kill a man.” Marinette smiled happily. “I helped Austin set up a glitter bomb in Nightmare’s Hail Mary tour bus. Niklaus and I are banned from Chuckie Cheese. Ashley and I spray painted her ex boyfriend’s car. Cleo and I got arrested. We disturbed the peace!!” Cleo was a pink haired girl who played drummer from Nightmare’s Hail Mary. She had to rush off for her own interview. “Oh and we’ve only been Playing Mario kart for an hour but they each owe like a hundred bucks to the swear jar.”
There was silence as the words were processed.
“And not one of us taught her how to keep a freaking secret?” Ashley face palmed.
           Jagged just sighed.
For the next few years that was Marinette’s life. Austin, Niklaus, Savage and Ashley became pseudo Uncles and Aunt to Marinette.
She spent most of her childhood on tour with her Uncle; going from to place, concert after concert. Marinette was homeschooled and didn’t mind it. Jagged went on tour with a bunch of different people over the years and she got to meet all sorts musicians; Clara Nightingale, Ed Sheeran, Adam Levine, Brendon Urie from Panic! At the Disco, Taylor Swift. Her favorite were the award shows though. Through them, she got to meet all her favorite actors. And was inspired to start designing on her own clothes after seeing so many fabulous looks. She got to model and do some acting. In her free time, she ran a very popular fashion blog/youtube channel.
The press had always loved her. To them, she was Marinette Stone (Jagged didn’t want her real name released to the media). She was always on the best dressed list, frequently seen with various celebrities, and could be found on the cover of various magazine.
However, when Marinette was eleven, she begged her Uncle to let her go to school with other kids. She was getting older and she wanted to have some type of normal childhood. It took him a year to agree. Her uncle Jagged had become quite protective over the years.
So Marinette went back to Paris. She cut her hair, used her given name of Marinette Dupain-Cheng. Her Uncle bought a grand penthouse not too far away from her new school, and whenever he was gone her bodyguard, a sweet woman named Harlow who was former CIA, was in charge of her. She started at her new school with a smile on her face.
Not long after, she became the hero Ladybug.
Everything was great. She had friends, a normal social life, went to school with other kids her age. She wasn’t constantly being followed around by paparazzi. She still ran her fashion blog and had frequently updates. It was perfect.
It took two years for it to go bust.
The reason’s name was Lila Rossi.
And she was the biggest liar Marinette had ever met. And Marinette had grown up in the entertainment industry.
Lila made wild claims that the other kids just ate up. A simple google search could refute all of them. The ones Marinette could stand was always about Jagged. Like her Uncle, or an airline, would be reckless enough to let a kid race on to an airport to save a cat; not that Jagged had ever own one. Fang was territorial.
Lila made her out to be a bully, and slowly Marinette lost all her friends. Her only one left was Adrien, her partner Chat Noir. The blond and Marinette had modeled together a few times and he had recognized Marinette despite her new looked but he kept it a secret. Because of their history, Marinette developed a crush on the other and Adrien was quick to lose his crush on Ladybug once he found out it was his dear friend behind the mask.
When Marinette was exiled to the back, Adrien was quick to join her (much to Lila’s fury) and nothing could change his mind. Mostly because he was sick of Lila always touching him despite his vocal protests, and Bustier not doing anything about it.
Soon Marinette things started being messed up or destroyed; her homework, her sketchbooks and pencils, her jacket. She was tripped and called rude names. Her cellphone, (Well one of her phones. She had two; one she used as Marinette Stone. One for Marinette Dupain-Cheng; a number only her classmates had.) was filled with mean texts.
Bustier caved to demands and had her excluded from class trips and events due to being a negative influence; again Adrien decided not to go either, and Lila was Akumatized once he said this. Marinette hadn’t been surprised. Bustier always ignored the bullying and harassment clearly happening in front of her. Still, Marinette decided to start recording her classes a hidden camera on her desk, on the corner of the celling and even on top of the whiteboard behind Bustier. It was just in case anything took a serious turn.
Still losing all her friends because of a few promises and dreams of glitz and glamour had been a wakeup call. Her Uncle had warned her. Her Aunt Penny, who Jagged had married with Marinette was ten, had warned her. So did Savage, Ashley, Cleo, Austin, Clara, and Niklaus. They told Marinette to watch out for fake friends and gold diggers, coattail clingers and desperate wannabes; people who would sell out every secret she had to the paparazzi behind her back just for five minutes in the spot light. So called friends who would do anything to get ahead, to get famous.
And it was clear that’s who most of her ex-friends were. Even Lila learned the hard way. When she told Alya about her mom meeting with some important celebrity about their Go Green initiative, this wasn’t a lie as it would turn out. However, the glasses-wearing girl posted it online, despite Lila legitimately asking her to keep it a secret. Lila got in big trouble with her mom apparently.
The teacher, Bustier, was awful but she always had been. Marinette ignored it in the past because at least she had her friends. But if that witch told Marinette to be a better example one more time, it was over.
Everything came to a head after Marinette got expelled, granted she was brought back after evidence that it was impossible for her to have cheated surfaced, and the bluenette decided enough was enough. She finally gave in and told her Uncle everything.
Jagged was pissed. He cursed up a storm; enough to fill the swear jar ten times over and buy Marinette a car.
It took a while to get him to calm down. And to convince him that Marinette could handle it. She had a plan.
Still, she remembered that Uncle was a wild card.
Friday, during lunch, Marinette was eating in the cafeteria, when suddenly the lunchroom doors burst open, “Marinette,” Jagged called as he entered, trailed by a happy Penny and bodyguards “Where’s my favorite little fashion designer?”
           Marinette just sighed.
Adrien smirked at her; looking way too amused. The jerk must’ve known. She had thought it was strange that he wanted to eat in the cafeteria. The two rarely ate on the school grounds, opting and preferring to go to local restaurants rather than deal with terrible food and pesky classmates. Still Marinette didn’t mind as long as they away from her classmates. And they did.
Kagami, Aurore, and Claude gave her perplexed looks.
The students in the cafeteria went wild. Girls and guys screamed, and tried to get pictures. Jagged ignored them and went straight to Marinette’s table, walking passed where Bustier’s student at lunch. Alya shook Lila’s shoulder and pointed at Jagged, and loudly asked if Lila could get her an interview. Lila looked horrified.
Jagged beamed when he reached Marinette, “There you are, you’ve been ignoring my texts,” He accused. Which to be fair, Marinette had been. Her Uncle had been coming up with way too many revenge plots to be healthy. “I decided I need a new look for the VMAs; something rockin, something tasteful, something to show remind the world the amazingness that the Rock Gods have blessed them with.”
“I’m at school,” Marinette told him.
He smirked, “Then Learn to answer a text,” The Rock star shrugged. “But fine; we can talk later. How about at my concert, yeah. You and your friends” he motioned to the kids at Marinette’s table, “Can have backstage passes. We’ll talk then. But I really want you to wow me. Maybe get a matching hat for Fang too.”
“Fang?” Adrien asked innocently. Still Marinette could practically hear see the script he was reading off of.  “Is that your cat?”
Jagged gasped as if insulted, “Cat? Do you think I’d ever own anything as ordinary as a cat? Me? Jagged Stone?! I should be insulted, mate. I hate cats, always have. Never owned one, never will. Fang’s a crocodile. Marinette’s knows. Fang loves her.”
“That is strange,” Kagami shot Marinette a smirk which caused Marinette to nearly hiss at the betrayal. Kagami knew too?! “Lila said you did.”
“Lila?” Jagged asked. “Who’s Lila? I don’t know a Lila.”
“Lila Rossi?” Aurore offered. “The Ladyblog practically swears in an interview that Lila Rossi saved your cat from being hit by a plane or something.”
Jagged scoffed, “What a loud of bull! Any journalist that believes that is not worth the pen they write with.” Gasps were heard. “But I heard that rumor. Didn’t know where it was from. Thanks for letting me know who I should sue. This Ladyblog and Lila Rossi will be hearing from my lawyers.”
It was a photo finish as to who fainted first; Alya or Lila.
Lila went home right after that. This caused the reactions of the class to be split. Half the class still defended Lila; refusing to believe their golden ticket was lying. The other half was ready to burn her at the stake; they had carried her books, done her homework, wrote her notes, nearly everything for her.
Marinette just sat back and watched with amused eyes. If they thought this was bad, they hadn’t seen anything yet.
That weekend Marinette Stone released a video on her blog about bullying. She had been mentioning her own trouble with bullying for months and people had asked her for more information.
The title of the video was:
           Bullying Stone: The Expose
In it Marinette revealed that at her school she went by Marinette Dupain-Cheng, her real name, and had a new look. She told about how much she liked school at first. And they what changed; that it all started when a new girl arrived and started telling lies about celebrities about Marinette. She told the story of how she was expelled; and just how many procedures were broken when it happened.
Marinette used the recordings she had of class, and even showed up the horrible texts she got.
“As you can see the teacher does nothing,” Marinette frowned. “It’s all happening right in front of her and she does nothing. In the next video, you’ll see someone being sexually harassed, in front of the teacher and she doing nothing about it. And then what victim blaming looks like. Again, as a reminder, all these videos and pictures are unedited.” She had offered to blur Adrien’s face but he declined, and even appeared in the video too and talked about his own experience.
At the end of the video, Marinette looked straight at the camera, “Anyone can be bullied; famous or otherwise. If you’re being bullied; speak up. Tell your parents, your Aunts, your Uncles, your siblings, your cousins, teachers who you know will actually do something about it. I waited too long to tell someone. I regret that. They thought what they were doing was hurting me.  They thought I’d be miserable without them. They thought I’d cry and break and come crawling back to them. They thought wrong. You can bully Stone but it takes a hell of a lot more than that to break it.”
The video went viral in an hour. And people were angry. The people who knew Marinette and loved her were beyond furious. Jagged, even more so, as he hadn’t seen the videos before, read the texts.
Marinette Stone’s phone blew up with texts and calls. She was tweeted and retweeted thousands of times. And she got far too many, ‘You want me to kick their asses for you. I can kick their asses for you,” texts. But she had known she’d get them.
The Ladyblog was ripped for lies by celebrities who been lied about on site and fans.
Gabriel Agreste, Adrien told her, was pissed about what had been happening to Adrien, in front of a teacher no less. Lila Rossi fired. And if Lila ever had dreams about working in the fashion industry, they were over.
Savage, after berating her for not kicking Lila’s ass, told her he and the gang (Austin, Cleo, Ashley, and And Niklaus) was coming over for some Mario Kart and artery clogging fast food.
When the call disconnect, Marinette got a text from him.
Why did you sic Fang on them?
And that’s a five for the swear jar!
           Marinette couldn’t stop laughing.

-First Thanksgiving-
“You know what would be even better than seeing my family for Thanksgiving?” Rafe attempted, sitting at the wrap around counter on his laptop, trying to finish the last of his work before the inevitable holiday dinner you were hosting happened.
“Is the answer, not seeing your family?” You asked, looking over at him.
When Rafe’s dad had extended the invitation for Thanksgiving, for the first time since Rafe started paying his own bills, he knew exactly what the intention was. Despite the show at Christmas of a gift arriving to his apartment the only people he kept in touch with besides friends from back home were his sisters. Sarah less than Wheezie but they’d come a long way from when they were teens. And with Wheezie back home during her year off from school, he knew that Rose had no doubt seen his Instagram. Notably, the pictures of you that had begun to literal his once scarce feed.
And just like that, out of nowhere, Ward called with the great idea that everyone get together for the holidays.
“Thanksgiving.” Rafe has offered, “you can come up to Boston, we’ll host.” It was an olive branch. A tiny one, barren too, more like a twig but it was something and Ward took it because he was curious.
Rafe had gotten a job with an economist firm right out of college and two years later he had completely cut his father out of his life. The firm was the reason he was in Boston, they offered him three locations, Los Angeles, which felt too far away from his sisters, Chicago, too windy, and Boston. He’d taken the job and bought an apartment that looked like something out of an ad for Restoration Hardware, sleek and modern. Cut the toxic parts of his family off and now it’d all seemingly paid off.
When you placed the last dish on the table, thirty minutes from his family’s arrival, Rafe spun his barstool around so he could grab your waist and pull you back into him.
“I could use the nap right now, honestly.” You admitted, leaning back against him. Rafe kissed the side of your head, hands brushing up the sides of your yoga pants, trying to find skin without looking. You’d started your pursuit of the perfect Martha Stewart approved Thanksgiving with a sweatshirt on, but that and the shirt beneath it had eventually been shed and tossed over the back of Rafe’s couch in favor of just your yoga pants and sports bra. Your anxiety had a habit of making you warm.
“My dad and Rose won’t be here for like, thirty minutes, go relax.” He offered, loosening his hold on you when you twisted around in his arms so that you could face him.
“I don’t have time, I still have to get dressed.” You mumbled, face pressed into his shirt.
In all honesty, you weren’t sure you could’ve relaxed anyway. Ever since Rafe had told you his dad and step-mom were coming up for Thanksgiving with his sisters you had been internally freaking out. A meeting the family holiday wasn’t something you had never done before. You’d met Ian’s family at a Christmas dinner the first year that you’d dated. But that had been a dinner you simply showed up to, not one you put on yourself.
This was your dinner, that you made from scratch, in Rafe’s apartment. It was your first real holiday together aside from the Halloween party you’d forced him to attend at Nina’s and now you were entertaining his family too.
-
“Things are moving really fast huh?” Nina had teased, standing over the bar cart in her small apartment, trying to remember how to mix a vodka martini.
“Not...really fast.” You replied. Nina had been bugging you about the pace of your relationship for a while now, acting like it was so out of the ordinary that you had swapped structured date nights for take out at his apartment or yours.
“You guys have already hit pre-moving-in-together stage.” Nina supplied, “trying to beat Anya out for a wedding this year?”
“I’m not trying to beat anyone out?” You knew you sounded defensive but you couldn’t help it. “Can we please talk about something else?”
“Too late,” she laughed, taking a sip of her finished concoction before grimacing. She looked over your shoulder, “do you know how to make a martini?”
“Afraid not.” Rafe replied, wrapping an arm around your shoulders and guiding you a little closer to him. He had agreed to Halloween at Nina’s because he wanted to spend the night with you and this party was a stipulation of that. He was dressed as Tom Cruise in Top Gun, something you had teased him about relentlessly from the moment he put on the costume but you’d be lying if you said he didn’t look insanely hot in the get up. Especially now that the small apartment had gotten so crowded and overheated that he’d slipped off the top of the coveralls and had them tied at his waist with just a white tank on.
“What’re you good for then?” You joked, laughing when he pulled you even closer, pressing his lips to your neck. “Stop!”
“Do you want one of whatever this is?” Nina asked, holding her drink out to Rafe.
“I would but I actually came over here to steal my girlfriend.” He replied, attention moving from Nina to you, “I’ve got a meeting in the morning, I should head out.”
“Okay,” you moved out of his hold to say goodbye to Nina, giving her a hug and trying not to let her slosh any of her martini on you.
“No, stay!” Nina insisted, a bit whiny from tipsiness.
“I‘ll text you tomorrow,” you promised, pulling away from her, already reaching your hand out for Rafe’s. You felt him take your hand, glancing back and smiling at him before giving Nina a kiss on the cheek, “love you, bye.”
“Love you!” She called as Rafe pulled you away to the door.
Once in the elevator you let out a breath, squeezing Rafe’s hand gently to get his attention. “Sorry, you could’ve stayed.” He finally said.
“It’s okay, besides,” you replied, leaning against him and wrapping your arms around his waist, “I have off tomorrow and I know for a fact that your meeting is a zoom conference that’s like, an hour.”
“That’s true,” Rafe said, nodding and grinning.
“So, I can bother you the rest of the day.”
-
Wheezie and Sarah had been on zoom plenty of times while you were around and Sarah had even come up to Boston for her birthday a few weeks into you dating Rafe so it wasn’t his sisters that you were sweating. Ward and Rose were both pretty imposing. You weren’t impressed with their wealth or intimidated by it. You had grown up in a similar environment to Rafe but your parents had never felt quite as cold as his.
“At least there’s alcohol,” Sarah teased, coming up beside you to pour herself a glass of wine. Her own boyfriend had opted out of Thanksgiving with her family to stay down in the Outer Banks and you were a little jealous he didn’t have endure this.
“Thank god,” you replied, taking a sip of the only red wine you didn’t absolutely hate. A sweeter red from a subscription box that one of Rafe’s friends had gotten him for Christmas once and that he kept up with.
Dates to fancy restaurants hadn’t been scraped altogether but they were usually reserved for dinners that included more that you and Rafe. You didn’t need over priced food and dry wine to be impressed by him and he certainly enjoyed just hanging out without all the pressure. But apparently fancy restaurants and the wine they served in them was exactly what Rose was looking for.
“My god, you can taste the sugar in this. It’s like grape juice.” She complained, lips pursing at the unwelcomed flavor.
“Drink something else then.” Rafe replied, annoyed that he was even putting himself through this. And that he was putting you through this too. He knew you were stressing about Thanksgiving. You’d been back from the wedding for a week, and things between the two of you had been better than before (though before they’d been pretty fantastic too), and now he was subjecting you to his family.
“Well if there was anything here that was drinkable,” Rose snapped, glaring at her stepson, “I would.”
“How’s business been?” Ward asked, drawing Rafe’s attention away from Rose and her scrutiny.
You tuned out their chatter in favor of listening to Wheezie talk about her current endeavors, which sounded a lot more pot driven then anything else. Hiking the Pacific Crest Trail with a group of friends to “discover her inner self” was not quite the Wheezie you had heard stories about but Rafe had told you plenty of times that his youngest sister’s new girlfriend was a bit of an irresistible influence. Whether that was good or bad was still to be determined.
“What about you?” Rose asked, interrupting her daughter’s novel-length plans.
“What about me?” You repeated. You knew what the question meant and you certainly expected it. Rafe had an incredibly good job for a guy his age. He was smarter than his family gave him credit for, more responsible than anyone expected, and then here you were, and sure, you made a delicious apple pie but that didn’t qualify you to be party of them.
“What do you do?”
“I teach first grade.” You replied, not as impressive as being an economic analyst for a firm that had offices in Los Angeles, Chicago, Beijing, and Boston but it was yours and you loved it.
Rose, clearly, did not, as evidenced by the way she grimaced at you. As if you were worse than the wine she had finally abandoned on the counter. “What age is that?”
“Usually 6 or 7 year olds.”  You replied. “There’s two first grade classes in my school and then two in the other three schools in our sort of, district. I teach my class but I’m also in charge of helping to finalize curriculum for all the other first grades.”
“Sounds like a lot of stress and not a lot of money.” Rose replied. “You must be grateful to have found someone so financially secure.”
The implication was there, and loud enough that the end of Rafe’s sentence teetered off as he turned away from the conversation with his father to look over at his stepmom. She had, in so many words, called you a gold digger, right there at Thanksgiving dinner and you hadn’t even sat down to eat the meal yet. If you knew Rafe, and at this point you certainly did, he was itching to say something. He wasn’t a teenager anymore, he wasn’t living under his dad’s roof or dependent on their money, he finally could say something and he looked ready to.
But you wanted to at least have some sort of dinner so you attempted to speak up before he could, “actually, I make a fairly comfortable salary and-”
“You don’t have to justify anything to her.” Rafe said, “she’s just never met anyone who actually works for a living.”
“I am one of the top real estate agents in the Outer Banks, do you know how many houses I closed on last year?” Rose snapped, looking toward her step-son and her husband.
“Rose, please, let’s just sit and eat.” Ward commented. His attempts at keeping the peace were all for show. Everything he said seemed to have some sort of edge behind it. As if he’d worded it just right to compliment and insult at the same time.
You sat beside Rafe once you’d served the dinner, staying between him and Sarah so you didn’t wind up anywhere near his parents. Wheezie dominated most of the dinner conversation talking about some guy who was doing podcasts from salvation mountain because he believed that he could commune with the “ancestors of America”.
“Please tell me your sister is high right now.” You whispered, leaning close to Rafe.
“Oh yeah, high as a kite.” He replied, “think she’ll give us some?”
“That’s just what we need.”
Rafe leaned closer, lips practically brushing your ear as he whispered, “It’ll be fun, kick everyone out, get high, have sex.”
“No.” You bit your lip to stop from laughing when he kissed just behind your ear, “now eat your food.”
“Is Fivel here?” Wheezie asked suddenly, interrupting her own story when she remembered your dog. She’d seen him on facetime enough that she had been dying to meet the black lab.
“What is a Fivel?” Ward asked, looking at you and Rafe.
“He’s my dog. He’s in Rafe’s bedroom, I didn’t want him messing up the table or anything before anyone arrived.” You explained, turning back to Wheezie, “I have to walk him after dinner if you want to come?”
“Yes.”
Rafe had told you, the first time he met your dog, that his father never allowed pets of any kind when they were kids. Not even a goldfish was permitted in the Cameron Household. He said that, according to Ward, the children were irresponsible and would never be able to care for an animal.
-
“One time I brought a stray cat that I found home.” Rafe said, sitting in your bed, petting Fivel. The dog was beside himself, rolled to expose his stomach with his head in Rafe’s lap.
“He didn’t like kill it, did he?”
“Honestly, wouldn’t have been surprised.” He admitted, “When he got mad he was scary. But no, he just made me drive with him to the SPCA to drop it off. I cried the whole way there over having to give up this kitten and then my dad made me walk all the way home.”
“Why?”
“Cause I cried.”
The bed dipped as you climbed back onto it, sitting beside Rafe and pressing a kiss against his bare shoulder, “you dad sounds like a dick.”
“Oh yeah, no argument there.”
-
Ward piped up again, seemingly in the mood for conversation and always happy to paint his son in a bad light. “Rafe wanted a cat once when he was younger but I didn’t allow it. The poor thing would’ve died in our house, Rafe’s never been good at taking care of anything, let alone himself.”
“Dad,” Rafe snapped.
“I’m just putting it out there. I mean, you work with kids,” he said, looking at you, “you must’ve thought about having them.”
“Uh, yeah.” You nodded. It was a conversation that you and Rafe had for the first time when you stayed up north a ways for Anya and Ian’s wedding. Kids were not going to happen next month, certainly, but they were something you both agreed you wouldn’t mind.
“Well, usually, you know, they say if you can take care of an animal then you can take care of a kid. And I’m just tell you, Rafe couldn’t take care of either.”
“Dad!” Sarah interrupted this time, glaring at her dad. “Can we just have a nice family meal?”
“We are.” Ward insisted. Under the table, you reached for Rafe’s hand, squeezing it reassuringly as his father continued talking, seemingly unaffected. “Did Rafe tell you he used to do drugs? You don’t do that anymore right? He snorted coke, wasted thousands of dollars on the stuff.”
The flatware and serving dishes on the table banged together as Rafe stood up suddenly, letting go of your hand. You thought for a moment that he was going to lose it and flip out on Ward and honestly, you wanted to yourself. But he said nothing, walking down the hall to the spare room that he used as an office, all of you watching in silence. Was he so upset he was locking himself in, you could imagine the absolute joy Ward would take in knowing he knocked his son down so far that he was sequestering in his bedroom.
Finally he came back, piece of paper in hand, and he stopped at Ward’s chair. “Here, get out of my house.”
“What’s this?”
“A check. For 25 thousand. Now take your wife and get out of my house.” Rafe repeated, “dinner is over.”
You sat there in silence, too shocked to look at Sarah and Wheezie, who mirrored your expression, watching as Ward and Rose stood and left. Rafe walked them to the door, slamming it after them and, finally letting out the anger that had been boiling over all night, punched the wall, hand going right through the plaster.
“Wheezie and I can walk Fivel for you,” Sarah whispered, standing up and ushering Wheezie to the bedroom to get the dog and give you and Rafe some privacy.
You got up at the same time though you headed for your boyfriend, who had his bloody hand pressed against a white button up, face red. “Hey,” you spoke soft, in what you hoped was not your ‘talking to kids voice’, “come on. I know you have a first aid kit cause I bought it.”
He followed you into the bathroom, sitting on the closed toilet while you pulled the first aid kit out from below the sink. The front door opened and closed as Sarah and Wheezie left with Fivel. Just the two of you in the apartment now.
“Hey,” you brushed his hair out of his face and he tilted his head back to look up at you. “You did the right thing. He shouldn’t talk to you like that, or about you like that.”
“He’s right. I was a fucking screw up.”
“In the vain of sounding like I’m going into teacher mode,” you said and Rafe laughed, leaning forward to press his forehead to your stomach, “Everyone messes up sometimes. You’re not that person anymore, and no one should ever talk to their kid like that.”
“I’m just glad he’s gone.” Rafe replied. “I don’t care if I never see him again.”
“Won’t argue with you on that.”
-
-First Christmas-
With the way that Thanksgiving had gone for the two of you, Rafe had proposed a Christmas without family. You might’ve agreed except he hadn’t met yours and you were more than determined to prove that not everyone was like his family. Christmas brought a lot of things. The four-month mark on your relationship, though Nina claimed it felt more like you had been dating a year, and your first major fight.
Which began as a spat at his place and evolved into a whole verbal sparring match once you were at yours.
“I’m not going.” He kept repeating the same phrase over and over.
“Christmas is so important to my family, I already told you-”
“And I already told you that the last thing I want to do is subject myself to a house full of people on Christmas when I could be home.” He was adamant about his ‘no family holidays’ decision.
“You haven’t met my family yet.” You argued. You’d been subjected to his and you talked with his sisters frequently but he had never bothered to meet any of your family.
“Schedule a dinner.”
“Rafe! I did Thanksgiving, it’s not fair that you won’t come up for Christmas with me.” What wasn’t fair was bringing up Thanksgiving in the first place. The only physical memory of evening, besides the 25k that Ward did end up withdrawing from Rafe’s savings, was the hole in the wall that one of his friends had jokingly bought a frame for when they were up visiting from North Carolina the week after.
“No.” He said the word with enough finality to end the argument.
“Fine, I’ll go without you.”
Dinner that night was tense and he didn’t stay over like he usually did. You didn’t text him in the morning and when he finally asked about getting dinner together two days later you lied and told him you were busy. Maybe you were being petty, probably you were, but you didn’t care. You were pissed, and rightly so. You had endured Rose’s scrutiny and had been there afterward for Rafe after he confronted his dad and he couldn’t even make the drive to western Mass. to see your family.
So, you went alone. Packed your bags, packed up Fivel, and drove out yourself, arriving the day before Christmas Eve to your parent’s house. Christmas was a big deal in your family. The day of was always spent at home, together, with a brunch spread that could’ve fed far more people and the Hallmark channel on a constant loop of ridiculous movies that you loved way more than you should’ve. But Christmas Eve was a whole other story. Since you were a kid your mom had been hosting Christmas Eve at her house, family, friends, anyone who wanted to was welcome to come over. There was chili and meatball sandwiches and appetizers and none of the food the people usually ate for dinner. This was no Martha Stewart Holiday.
The drive to western Mass wasn’t long, thankfully, because it took Rafe about an hour after you left to realize that there was absolutely no way he wanted to spend Christmas the same way he had the last few years. Alone in his apartment re-watching Die Hard or some other pseudo Christmas movie.
He got there on Christmas Eve, pulling his car in next to yours in the crowded driveway. It was already snowing pretty heavily but his main concern was you. Would you be happy he changed his mind or pissed that he put you through all that fighting just to decide in the end that he was going to come?
There were people on the porch and the front door was open so Rafe took that as hint enough to go inside. Your house was smaller than Tanney Hill but probably just as old, the woodwork inside that you’d told him about was as daunting as you said, though he still thought the house looked more welcoming than his.
He weaved through people who said hello without knowing who he was until he managed to find the kitchen, and you, standing at the island talking to your mom. “I just think it would’ve been nice if she told you ahead of time that she wasn’t gonna show up. No one else wants to eat vegan spinach artichoke dip.”
“She said she was going to try to make it.” Your mom replied, looking up from the oven and realizing that the two of you weren’t alone in the kitchen anymore. She had seen enough pictures of Rafe from your instagram and from what you’d sent her that she recognized him immediately. “Anyway, I’m taking this out to the living room.” She announced, grabbing the charcuterie board and passing Rafe on her way out.
You turned, to finish your thought on your cousin, and caught sight of Rafe for the first time. “I thought you wanted to-”
“I know I said I wanted to stay home and not do family stuff but...I’d rather be here with you than stay in my apartment by myself.” He admitted. Rafe wasn’t one to fall on his own sword, he’d always been too stubborn to acknowledge when he was wrong but he couldn’t keep doing that. Not if he wanted this to last and he really did.
You crossed the small space between the two of you, wrapping your arms around him, “it means a lot to me that you’re here.” You replied, “Christmas Eve is my favorite.”
“I think this is more people than house parties I’ve thrown.”
“Crowds are the best.” You stepped away enough to kiss him, the peach flavor of your lip balm making him lick his lips when you pulled away.
“Why’s that?”
“Cause you can sneak off in crowds.” You replied, smiling enough that he knew exactly what you were insinuating as you pulled away from him, hooking your arm with his instead, “can I give you a tour of the house Mr. Cameron?”
“Absolutely.”
You walked him up the stairs, trying not to be suspicious as you ducked out of the party.
-
“I watched this documentary about Nancy Reagan once,” you began to say, laying with your head against Rafe’s chest. It was Christmas morning, as your mom had reminded the two of you when she knocked on the door a few minutes ago.
“Interesting post-sex commentary,” he teased, cutting you off.
“Shut up.” You laughed, “I was trying to tell you something nice.” You sat up, angling yourself so that you were facing him, holding the sheet up in front of you. He looked at you skeptically, reaching for the sheet and giving it a tug but you held on. “No, cause you’ll distract me and then I won’t remember what I was gonna say and if we take too long my mom will come back upstairs.”
Rafe pouted, “no early Christmas presents?”
“Trust me, you’ve had enough early Christmas presents to last until the new year.” You laughed, leaning over to kiss him. The moment you did, of course, he pulled the sheet away and grabbed your hips, guiding you back onto his lap. “Family Christmas.” You reiterated, determined to make it downstairs.
And you did, though not before Rafe insisted he needed a shower and you needed to join him. The nice clothes you’d both worn for the party the night before were exchanged this morning for pajamas, yours a onesie that Nina had bought you from pink a few years ago.
Rose had always done Christmas for show, a gaudy tree and enough blinding lights and white on sliver to make someone feel like they were in a Kardashian’s house and not the Outer Banks. She never did yard ornaments or sentimental anything and someone else always baked whatever desserts they had for dinner at the holidays. Yours was entirely different. Red and green everything, the overwhelmingly large tree much more visible then it had been the night before with people crowded around the living room. There were ornaments from every year of your life, some silly figurines from Hallmark and others handcrafted with school pictures in them.
“Guess how old I was in that picture?” You said, pointing to a baby picture of you that hung on the tree.
“I don’t know, two?”
“Five months...I just had a shit ton of hair. My mom said one time when she took my brother to Tennis the girl there asked if I wanted to join the seven-year-old class. I was three.” You replied.
“So you were always weird?” Rafe asked, grinning when you smacked his arm.
“How did you two meet? We didn’t get the story.” Your mom said, carrying a tray of food in and putting it on the coffee table. Your brother was with his husband’s family this year, but your sister was here with her husband and her three kids, one of whom was currently climbing onto Rafe’s lap the second he sat down.
“Sorry, Garrett still gets u-p-s-e-t when he doesn’t get enough a-t-t-e-n-t-i-o-n.” Your sister said, as Garrett tugged on the strings of Rafe’s hoodie. Your sister was holding one of her twins and her husband had the other in his arms.
“That’s fine, Garrett and I can chill, right?” Rafe said, tilting his head to look at your nephew.
“Yeah chill,” he repeated, smiling up at Rafe.
“So,” your mom said, drawing the conversation back, “how did you two meet?”
“Like how did we actually meet?” Rafe asked, smiling at you as you sat down on the couch beside him, Garrett repositioning himself so he was stretched out across both of you, laughing when you tickled him.
Your mom nodded.
“We uh, met at college but I was kinda still with Ian so nothing really happened and then Nina saw him on my Tinder and swipped and now we’re together.” You replied, “a modern love story.”
“Yeah, we,” he looked down at Garrett and then back to your mom, “h-o-o-k-e-d up and she broke my heart by not calling me back.” Rafe said.
“Rafe!” You laughed, nudging him.
“God, I hated Ian...what a d-o-u-c-h-e,”
“We actually just went to Ian’s wedding in November,” You replied, lifting Garrett so that you could grab some food off the table. Rafe put his arm around your nephew when he tried to rock back again.
“No!” Garrett laughed, squirming around. “I wanna do presents.”
“Okay, okay, we’ll do presents.” Your stepdad promised. Garrett slid off of Rafe’s lap, grabbing his hand and pulling him to the tree. Rafe followed, sitting down at the base of the tree so that Garrett could look for the presents with his name on them.
“How was the wedding?” Your sister asked, sitting on the floor by the couch with one of the twins. “I can’t believe he invited you.”
“Oh he didn’t,” Rafe piped up, “Ian married her grade partner.”
“Are you kidding?” She practically hissed, immediately going into older sister defensive mode.
You rolled your eyes, getting off the couch and sitting down beside Rafe and Garrett. “Not kidding, and it doesn’t matter anyway.”
-
Being at your parents for Christmas had the same feeling as being out of the city for the wedding. Maybe even more so this time around, spending time with your family, made it easier for Rafe to think about the possibility of moving out of Boston and settling down with you somewhere like this.
“I bought that bike unitard, by the way.” You mentioned, packing your suitcase to leave. Rafe was laying on the bed in your childhood room, Fivel spread out next to him.
“The what?” He asked, raising his head a little.
“The bike unitard, that I showed you, from that yoga website.” You replied, “its the shorts.”
He hummed, laying his head back down and brushing his hand through Fivel’s fur.
“What’s the ‘mmhmmm’ supposed to mean?” you asked, mimicking his humming.
“You don’t ride a bike. Also, it’s December.”
“I might start.” You argued. In reality the chances of you biking were slim to numb but the outfit had been cute and the site had a 20% off sale.
“No.” He replied, “Nina asked you to bike two weeks ago and you said it was, and I quote, the worst activity in the world.” He said, finally sitting up all the way when you stopped packing to sit on the bed with him.
“Well I could stationary bike?” You suggested, though that was unlikely too. “They have those ones with the desk. So you can work out and work.”
“You’ll never use that.”
“I might.”
“Why not just use that stupid peloton in my office.” It had been a gift from Rose and Ward two years prior and Rafe had used it a total of never. It just sat there, staring at him as he worked.
“Then I’d be at your apartment all the time!”
“More than you are now? I’m surprised I don’t get mail in your name already.” He replied, getting off the bed and going over to his weekend bag. You should’ve left by now to make it home before dark but neither of you were rushing to leave.
“Well, we’re always busy! If I was there and not busy-”
“Coincidentally,” Rafe started to say, only to have you cut him off.
“Coincidentally?”
“Yeah, here.” He turned back toward you and held a small wooden box out.
You took it somewhat skeptically, “what is this? This looks like the Leslie and Ben box.”
“That’s because you have the best fucking boyfriend in the world who watches endless reruns of Parks and Rec with you.” Rafe replied, “open the box.”
Sitting inside the wooden box was a keycard and a spare, silver key, both of which you recognized. “Are these to your apartment? Are you giving me keys to your apartment?”
“Yeah,” he nodded, “I’m also asking you to move in with me. I know your lease ends in January and my building is animal friendly...imagine my bookshelves with actual books on them.”
“You want us to move in together?”
“I want a lot more than that,” Rafe admitted, “but, it’s a good place to start.”

💬: “I need to see you”.
You're walking with fast steps through the living room as a caged lion, from one side to another, once and again till your legs starts to burn and your breathe is shaking enough to know that you need to have a seat. But even sitting in your sofa, your knees goes from top to bottom supported by your tiptoes. It's something that you know it could happen. Happy is Happy and it's feels so good when he spills inside you so warm and pleasurable, that you can't say no. And the fault is partly yours to no have the pill on time. But when you remembered, it was too late and you didn't give it much importance. Now, it has.
Twenty minutes later since you have sent the text, the hum of the engine of a chopper motorbike claims your attention. Jumping off from your sofa and grabbing the pregnancy test on the table, you keep it on the back pocket of your jeans, walking towards the door. Opening it, you find a worried gesture on his face. On him. On the man who has three looks for his face. The angriest one, the ‘I don't give a fuck’, and the ‘shit, baby, you're so wet’. So this one is new for you, after three years knowing him.
When Happy is ready to grab the gun behind the kutte, you raise both hands to let him know that everything is okay. Coming next to you, he holds your right hand to pass away inside the house. Closing the door and letting you go, he continues to the fridge, taking two beers to offers you one. You hold it, looking at the drink with pursed lips.
“Please, sit”. You say with trembling voice, and he notices it.
Happy does it, dragging a chair close to the sofa and making a gesture to it, so you can do the same in front of him. With your thumb and your forefinger your curl your inner lip in a nervous move, looking for the correct words to say. But there isn't a ‘correct way’, nor a easy one. You're pregnant, that's all.
“If you have met another guy, it's okay”. His scratchy voice isn't expected, open his hands for a second while he nods.
Even if he has that look of “I don't give a shit”, you know he's fucked. Happy has been hiding his feelings for you almost for three years, when he realized it the first time he slept in your house. For some reason, he woke up in the middle of the night, with you between his arms. Your legs were tangled, his chest on your back, an arm on your waist and another behind your neck. Close. So close that he could listen your heart beat. He took a deep breath from your collarbone, with those mixed essences of his own, yours, sweat and honey.
His mother adores you. You know his family, his brothers and his nomad's charter. You've been riding by his side and by his back. You have taken care of every wound, of every tattoo and of Opie when he had to leave Charming. You have taken care of him and of everything that surrounds him. So, yes. His heart is breaking into thousands pieces, even if he has that look of “I don't give a shit”.
“I haven't meet anyone”. You clarify, cleaning your throat. “Not in that way”.
“What does it mean?”
“I didn't meet... her yet”.
Happy is trying to see on your face what's going on when you referred to another woman. But he's so confused that he has to drink of his beer to wet his throat.
“I'm not jealous”. He says then, and you're about to laugh when you realize that he thinks you're seeing a girl.
“But I will”.
“I don't have to touch her”.
By the way he has to leave the beer on the table to play with a golden and heavy ring in his finger, you know that he's worried to lose you. And it's the cutest thing you have never seen.
“You will want to hug her, kiss her, introduce her to the Sons' and everyone of your family. You will love her more than I think you actually love me”.
Jesus Christ, he's sweating.
“I don't talk about my feelings, but I know that you're aware of what I want. And I couldn't love anyone more than I love you”.
That was really unexpected, biting your lower lip and starting to move again your legs nervously. Putting away your gaze for a second, you nod. Taking off from your pocket the pregnancy test, you place it next to the closed beer he gave you. His eyes are focused on every move your fingers do, letting them travel to the white stick, swallowing saliva. Leaning against the chair, he rubs his chin thoughtful, licking his lips. After what he just confessed to you, he's making you feel nervous.
Happy takes his personal phone, the one he uses to text you, watching him texting something. After some seconds, he leaves it on the table, when it starts to ding because of a lot of notifications. Looks like the apocalypse.
“Happy...?”
“How do you know it's a girl? How long are you?”
“Two months, more or less. But a friend of mine made me a blood test at the hospital. And she told me about something with chromosomes, or shit like that”.
“Did you think a name?”
His questions are confusing you more than you actually are.
“I like 'Elena'”.
“Happy...”
“It's a beautiful name”.
“Okay, you're fuckin' pissin' me off”. Getting up of your seat with narrowed eyes, you open your arms gesticulating about what's going on 'cause you're lost.
“Why?”
“'Cause you don't look excited, nor... happy. But you're there, choosing a name for our daughter”.
“Shouldn't I? You can choose it, then”.
“It's not about the name”.
“I'm lost, (Y/N)”.
“So I am!”
“But, why?”
“Who you texted to?” You ask pointing the phone on the table.
“Sons', to make a party tonight and celebrate it”.
“Can you please tell me how you feel about having a daughter? 'Cause it's what I need to know”.
“Lucky”.
“You're not... angry or something like...?”
“Why I should be angry? I always wanted to be father”.
“You what?”
“And with you, it just makes it better. You don' have to feel jealous, I have love for both”. He shrugs his shoulders. “We should go to see my mom”.
“Yea'... We should”.
Happy gets up holding your hands to push you into him, pressing his lips on your forehead on a dearly kiss, wrapping your waist with both arms. He hugs you so close that you can't help but place your hands on his nape and head. You were terrified of losing him, being for three years the only break in your stressful days. Now, you can breathe. So he does, after knowing that you weren't putting him away.
“But first...” He whispers on your ear, bending down a little to lift you up, forcing your legs to wrap his hips with both hands squeezing your ass and his lips kissing, biting and sucking your neck. “I'm gonna make sure you're pregnant”.
You chuckle when Happy walks towards your bed, lying there with him on top of you.
“Let's have twins, my love”.
Bonus:
“No, dad! Cereals go first! Don' be a psycho as uncle Tig!”
The laughs of your husband from the kitchen wakes you, getting up on your palms before rubbing your eyes. Wearing one of his shirts, you walk barefoot towards the hallway being followed by the big and white dog, moving his tail happily. In the living room, you can watch on tv how Tom chases Jerry with a fly swatter, before continuing to the kitchen.
Elena is sitting on the counter, moving her tiny legs, looking at his father preparing breakfast.
“Mom! Daddy is back!” She yells overexcited raising her arms. She's also wearing one of Happy's shirt.
He left Charming one week ago and even if you didn't know when he was coming back, you didn't expect to be this sooner.
“Finish it”. Your husband says, giving her the milk, before turning to you.
Without gesture on his face, he pushes you out of the kitchen, twisting his face to it making sure Elena can't see you. Then, he kisses you. Desperate, needy, filthy. Guiding you to the nearest wall, so he can lift you up to rest your back there. He attacks your neck, dragging his teeth over it, covering your mouth to drown every moan he provokes you.
“I missed you, my love”. He says with a throaty tone and his breathe bristling your skin.
