#but all of that just can't compare to the opportunities that have been given to the other actors&writers&directors who ARE poc

idk i just feel like the more pressing matter with sokka is the fact he’s been played by a white dude than whether or not he still hates women or whatever. and it’s so weird too because the casting for everyone is pretty spot on at least broadly speaking and then you get to sokka and it’s just (karen smith voice) if you’re from the water tribe, why are you white?
Well, for starters, we don't actually know that he is white.
I'm reluctant to relitigate this at this juncture, since there's been a lot of speculation with very little evidence, and frankly, even if he is white, the cast is still a damn sight more diverse than any installment we've ever had. The original main cast of the show was white--with the exception of Zuko and Iroh--as was the main cast of the movie adaptation (again with the exception of Zuko and Iroh, funnily enough), AND the creators were white AND all of the writers were white (and almost all of them were men), which means that there were approximately zero poc with storytelling authority involved with the show. Even if Ian Ousley is white (which is still an if! and I'm not gonna be out here demanding his 23andme results), that's one flub against an entire cast of Asian&indigenous actors, showrunners, writers, and directors (of which there are also considerably more women than the original could boast).
I'm not willing to throw that baby out with the bathwater, so to speak, and I'm going to err on the side of if the rest of the cast is ok with his presence, then it shouldn't bother me too badly. They have excellent chemistry in interviews and on screen, and, from what I've seen, seem to be friends, and that's good enough for me.
Also, I just want to take this moment to point out that trying to rely on looks to determine who is or isn't a poc is problematic at best--and I think that, without bias, Ian doesn't look out of place next to Kia, Dallas, and Gordon. It's not like he's Jackson Rathbone, guys.

the student council president’s girlfriend : ̗̀➛
RIN ITOSHI x f!reader
content. rivals to lovers (?), suggestive remarks
wc: 4.5k
synopsis. you’re marked by the student council president as a frequent slacker. after being caught skipping school multiple times, rin itoshi threatens to get you expelled. however, you find yourself to have been given a golden opportunity to dodge this punishment if you pretend to be his girlfriend. while you did hate the man, you figured that you could make the experience entertaining if you agreed, making it your one life’s-goal to piss him off.
Tumblr media
Your fruitless attempt to leave the school to skip had been thwarted once again by the relentless determination of the Student President, who spared no mercy as he had grabbed you by the wrist and dragged you into the room of the Student Council, kicking out the remaining members who still lingered inside.
“Out." Rin's cold voice pierced the casual buzz of conversation in the room between Nagi and Reo, sending a shiver down your spine as you realised how serious he was now.
The two lingering Student Council members didn’t need to be told twice before fleeing, passing the President as he dragged you into the door of the room. Rin's grip on your wrist tightened with a seemingly unshakable irritation due to having his day ruined yet again by your continuous inconvenience. His fingers dug into your skin with a vice-like grip that threatened to cut off your circulation, and there was little mercy to be found in his steely gaze.
“Jeez, you could be a little more gentle!” You proclaimed, snapping your wrist away once they had reached the room and backing yourself against a desk to move away from his towering figure.
"You're lucky I'm treating you with this much mercy to begin with," Rin retorted, his tone filled with scorn as he looked down on you with a disapproving glare. His harsh grip on your wrist had left a bright red mark where his fingers had dug into your skin, a testament to his strength. “Most other student council presidents would have already had you expelled from this school by now given your track record."
“So I miss a few classes… Big deal.” You rolled your eyes, massaging the mark he had left on your flesh.
"The big deal is that you've cut classes at least three times this week alone," Rin replied angrily, his tone sharp and harsh. "A few classes would be like missing one day or two. At this point, you're borderline a truant."
“Oh, I forgot I was speaking with the President of Punctuality.” You grumbled, crossing your arms as you tensed your shoulders. “Can’t you just let me off?”
"I can't 'let you off' knowing that you'll just continue to skip classes if I do," He spat back, maintaining his harsh tone. "You need to face the consequences of your actions for once and learn to start attending your classes regularly. Missing a few days here and there is acceptable since life can get in the way, but you've been cutting class far too often and this sort of behavior is unacceptable."
“I authorise my absences most of the time!” You argued.
"Most of the time?" The man scoffed. "Keyword, most. Which means that there's still some cases where you haven't authorized your absences and ended up just skipping school. Besides, I can guarantee you that the student council didn't authorise your absence today considering that I had a list of students who would be absent and your name was most definitely not on it."
“God, why are all the student council so strict” You huffed under your breath. “I swear you’re more strict than the actual professors!”
"Because it's literally our job to ensure that students are actually being responsible and attending their classes instead of skipping out on them to do whatever it is that you troublemakers do," His response portrayed his tone as still cold. "And if you think we're strict then you have no clue how much more lenient we actually are compared to some previous student council presidents. There are others who would have had you expelled from this school by now, believe me."
“Oh, right, you’re so kind.” You rolled your eyes, not helping but facing away.
"I am giving you more kindness than you deserve at this point. The fact that you even still going to this school instead of being expelled and sent to some reform school is a testament to just how lenient the student council and the teachers are. If it were up to me, I'd have tossed you out of school ages ago, but my hands are tied by the whole 'you can't just expel students' rule."
“Because you can’t. Just because daddy’s money is keeping you in the position you’re at now, doesn’t mean you hold any kind of power.” You turned to him with an equally threatening glare, your words piercing into him with such direct accuracy that made it seem like you had always been hoping for a moment to say those words. “You student council folk are all the same. You just sit on your thrones and act better than everyone else.”
"Oh, really?" He snapped, a cold stare boring into her eyes as the temperature in the room seemed to drop significantly. "You think that I got my position because of my dad’s money? Listen closely because I'm going to say this once and only once. I can assure you that I definitely worked my ass off and earned my position fair and square."
His hands curled into fists to showcase his broiling resentment, but that only forced the next words out of your mouth even quicker when you realised how threatened he was.
“You and your older brother are both nepo babies.” You muttered, almost like you were scared to say it due to the possible repercussions. “It’s no coincidence that both of the Itoshi brothers managed to be Student Council President back to back.”
The insult sat in the atmosphere for a long while, before Rin’s eye finally twitched and he found the courage to respond with a higher level of disgust.
"...What did you say?" He asked, his tone dangerously cold as he looked towards you. "Did you just call me a nepo baby?"
“Yeah. Because you are. Am I missing something here?”
"If you think that I got my position because of my brother or dad then you clearly don't know what you're talking about." The president angrily, his aura even more menacing as he took a step forward. "I don't just sit around doing nothing. I do stuff. Serious stuff. I manage the schools budget, I make sure that everything is running smoothly, I deal with students like you. There's a lot that I have to do. You think that I got all that handed to me thanks to my family?"
“Whatever.” You turned your head away to look towards the ground, not bothering to take anything of what he was saying in. "Are we done here?”
"Not even close," He replied, leaning forward a little more and narrowing his eyes in disdain. “Did you seriously just think that you could go around insulting me like that after you were caught red-handed and that I would just let you off without any punishment?"
“What are you gonna do? Give me a detention?” You snorted, humoured by his attempts at intimidation. “Big deal. I’ll just sleep.”
"More than detention. Since you’ve been caught ditching on more than three occasions now, you’re out of free passes. You’re dancing on the road leading to a suspension.” Rin darkened his stare, his tone hinting at a looming threat. “And once that suspension hits your permanent record, I doubt any future schools or universities would even wanna look in your direction.”
Your face actually seemed to fall a little at the threat, and you leaned back against the surface of the table to hide your slightly trembling hands. Having your whole future ruined just because you skipped a few classes?
"However, I might be willing to spare you that fate... Provided that you do something for me." Rin quickly added, looking away towards the wall so he wouldn’t have to make eye contact with you as he put in his request.
You narrowed your eyes.
“The Student Council President taking advantage of an opportunity for his own gain? I didn’t know you were so corrupt.” You spat back teasingly.
"Don’t sink me down to that level... But I do have a proposition for you… It's simple, really. You fulfill this simple request and I’ll revoke all of your strikes.”
“Depends on what.”
"So you're at least somewhat reasonable then.” He turned back to you, lightly itching his face a little as he attempted to find the words to ask— Like he was embarrassed. "…Do you have a boyfriend? Or maybe a girlfriend? Or even a partner of any kind?"
You suddenly felt your eyebrows furrow a little with curiosity as your tensed shoulders dropped the smallest bit.
“…No…” You said shortly. “The hell does that have to do with anything?”
Rin’s cold glare just got even more stone-faced as he continued speaking, hues of red threatening to shine through the skin of his cheeks.
“…I want you to play the role of a girlfriend for me.” He announced to you simply. “It'll only be temporary, just long enough to convince people that we're dating."
“What?” Your jaw was set agape, waiting for him to reveal that it was all some sort of prank. However, his face remained stoic and dead-serious like always. “Why?”
He cleared his throat, going to scratch the back of his neck as his furrowed brows framed the embarrassment on his face even more. He finally cast his eyes towards you, and you could see how humiliatingly genuine his pupils looked towards you.
"For the sake of maintaining my reputation and pleasing my parents. Because he’s certain that me and my brother are going to continue the legacy of our family, he’s trying to set me up with someone surprisingly even worse than you." Rin replied coldly, his tone matter-of-fact. “Since you're always skipping out on class and getting into trouble, rumors about you have been spreading through the school. If you help me and pretend to date me, it’ll make people think that I've managed to reel you in and turned you into a properly behaved student."
“Seriously?” Your expression emphasised your disdain for the suggestion.
"Yes, seriously. My father has been breathing down my neck and insisting that I find someone to date. That's why I need someone the role of my girlfriend." He let out an annoyed huff, folding his arms. “It'll be easy. All you need to do is stick by my side like a regular girlfriend would and convince everyone that we’re dating. I'll do the convincing on my end. I'll make sure that everyone sees us as a couple and is left with no doubt that we're together."
“And why ask me, huh? Why not some other girl?”
"Because you're the perfect candidate. And for a number of reasons," he replied, his tone still serious but also carrying a touch of bitterness that made it almost sound vindictive. "One, you’re not exactly a key figure of the school, so seeing you beside me will likely be the first time students have ever paid attention to you— Which means hopefully our relationship won’t draw as much attention as opposed to if I dated an equally successful girl.” He held one finger down, listening down the reasons. “Two, because of this, dating you won't affect my popularity among students and won't tarnish my 'image'. I'll come out looking like a hero for dating you. People will expect that I'll be able to 'control' and 'tame' you. People will think that my mere presence is enough to get you to behave, and it would then improve your reputation.”
You felt your jaw unhinge a little, shocked— insulted that he would say such a thing.
“For your information, I don’t even bother involving myself in stupid social shit like that. I could care less about reputation.”
"Maybe so, but people still know who you are." He replied. "That alone gives me a leg to stand on with convincing people that I've managed to 'reform' you. Besides, you don’t really have that much of a choice. From where you’re standing, it’d be best if you’d just take the easy way out instead of getting suspended."
Your jaw ticked as your eyes narrowed at him.
Dating him? What a joke. You were practically rivals at this point after he had caught you bending or breaking the rules so many times.
“Suppose I do agree,” You suddenly said, “how long would we need to keep up this whole ‘fake dating’ scheme?”
"A few months. Just until the term ends. We’ll tell everyone that we’ve been dating since the beginning of the year but kept it a secret, and then we can pretend that we had a really sad break up, meaning I can’t date any time soon and my family from pestering me." He explained, shoving his hands into his pockets. “After that, you can go off and do whatever the hell you want— Provided that you still follow the school’s rules. Just stick with this for a little while and I'll be able to get my dad off of my back and keep up my reputation as a great Student Council President."
You pondered the possibility for a moment. In exchange for having all of your strikes wiped completely clean and not having to be suspended, it was a short request, wasn’t it? It was backed up by sound logic and you didn’t exactly lose anything— Except a bit of your dignity after having to pretend to date one of the people you despised most in the world. But you were sure you could at least make it a little entertaining for yourself.
“…Okay, fine.” You nodded in agreement.
"Good. I'll do the convincing on my end and I'll make sure that everyone buys into our fake relationship." He sighed, a stoic tone masking his relief. "Just make sure that you keep up the act and play the part of a good girlfriend when you're out with me. I'll handle the rest."
“Will do, Mr President.”

For the sake of maintaining the idea as Rin’s girlfriend, you actually began showing up to school again. He had explained to you that you had to try and drop the truant nature and be a good student. He made it clear that these demands got into your head as he practically drilled the orders into your brain the night before the next day.
Of course, you nodded along to everything he said, knowing dann well you certainly weren’t going to make it easy for him.
As Rin was walking down the halls, his deadpan expression stretched across his face as he glanced between the students that he passed by, you screamed his name, dashing down the corridor in an attempt to draw as much attention as you could to yourself.
“Rin, there you are!” You giggled, plunging forward to clutch his sleeve tightly, watching as his ice-cold face was laced with shock.
"What the—“ He exclaimed, his cold, neutral expression transforming into a surprised one as he was taken off guard by your sudden approach and her grasp on his arm. He had expected this fake relationship to require minimal interactions between them outside of school as he had planned, but it looked like a certain someone had other ideas. “Huh- Y—Yeah. I'm here. What is it?" He let out an accidental stammer, his voice filling with a hint of irritation and confusion as he tried to come up with an explanation for this sudden behaviour in his mind. He saw almost immediately that your intentions were not pure, and that you were planning to take advantage of the opportunity to try to embarrass or inconvenience Rin while they you were faking the relationship.
“Nothing! I was just lookin’ for you, that’s all.” You batted your eyelashes lovingly, holding him tighter as you pressed your cheek against his sleeve.
He wanted to swat you away with every bit of frustration he had, but when he began to notice how other students around you two began to whisper towards each other, he ceased all desires to yell at you right then and there.
“Who’s Rin Itoshi with?”
“Didn’t you hear? That’s his girlfriend! Apparently they’ve been dating for months now already!”
“I heard it from Igaguri, they’re like— Official!”
Rin remained silent, his icy expression now transformed into a slightly annoyed one as the crowd began gesturing in your general direction with stares of awe. Even though he had expected that people would start to gossip about the two of you, to the point where your 'relationship' would almost seem real, he wasn't prepared for just how much attention you were going to attract
"Well, you found me. So now can be on your way, right?" He replied, trying to gently pull away from you as the whispers continued to grew louder and more curious by the minute.
“Don’t say that!” You whined, holding him tighter now. “You’re not busy, are you? You wouldn’t shun your girlfriend, right?”
It was almost sickening to yourself how close you needed to force yourself against him, but you bit your tongue and just played into the bit even more. You quickly leaned up to whisper mischievously in his ear, pulling him down by the tie to ensure that he would hear what you said.
“Play into the role, that’s what you said, isn’t it? Want people to believe we’re dating? Then act like a boyfriend.” You muttered harshly before leaning back down and fluttering your eyelashes innocently at him, as if you had just whispered a harmless secret.
"I... um..." Rin felt himself lag, his expression turning beet red as you leaned up to whisper in his ear and began to use the innocent act to your advantage. He was completely taken off guard by this sudden new act as his mind ran a million miles an hour trying to catch up. Rin’s irritation was slowly turning into confusion and then, almost against his own will, his face broke out into a frown as he realized he had no choice but to play along with her little game.
“Let’s walk to lunch together!” You suggested gleefully, holding your hand out for him to take.
"...Alright.” He eventually replied, feeling like his words were being twisted out of his control as he reluctantly agreed to your suggestion, placing his palm atop yours.
It was clear that just from the action of hand-holding he was awkward and ill-educated, as he didn’t even hold your hand like a couple would. His palm was simply placed into yours.
It was a good thing he had you leading the way, right?
You irritatingly corrected the action, shifting his palm so that the two of you interlocked fingers instead, clutching his hand tightly to lead him down the hall.
As he began to walk alongside you, he could practically feel all of the eyes on you. It was then that he realised just how effective your act really was. After all, he wasn't the one who was playing the role in this fake relationship. You were too. He had made casual attempts to spread the story of you two dating by subtly slipping the fact into conversation, but it wasn’t nearly effective as what you did— Which was full on public displays of affection. Any outsider would believe that you were just desperate to publicly love your boyfriend after the news of your love had been let out.
However, as annoying as you were, Rin was pleased with how quickly people believed that you were his girlfriend.
The contrast between you and Rin was the most surprising though. Having the cold, icy-glared student council president with a chatty and supposedly reformed slacker attached to his arm was sure to stir up conversation.
“No way that’s Rin Itoshi with (Y/n).”
“Wait, who?”
“She’s the one who never shows up to class, remember?”
“That’s (Y/n)? What the hell is the Student Council President doing with her?”
It became even more clear that you were just emphasising the role just to annoy Rin when you sat down to eat because when you did, you continued to lean on his arm and gush at every little thing he did like an obsessed puppy.
“I had no idea you two were dating.” Isagi, one of Rin’s friends say at the table, smiled as he looked between the two of you. “I didn’t even know you two knew each other.”
"...Yeah, that's a surprise to most people." Rin replied with a dismissive shrug, hoping not to dwell on the topic too much, only for you to cut in and say your piece.
“Yep, we kept it secret until now for privacy reasons, but I’m glad I’m finally able to brag about my prize boyfriend!” You beamed, earning you an eye-roll from Rin. After your constant clinging and gushing, you could tell thathe was already tired from the whole shtick. It was only the start of the day, for Christ's sake.
“Honestly, I didn’t even know you’d associate with someone like her… No offence.” Chigiri said blankly, turning to you.
“None taken.” You giggled, continuing to clutch Rin’s arm. “If you’re worried about my bad studentship tendencies to rub off on him, you shouldn’t worry anymore. I’m leaving my troublemaker past behind! Can’t be tarnishing my boyfriend’s reputation, hm?”
Although it was annoying, he had to admit that you were doing a pretty convincing job at playing the role of a reformed 'girlfriend' with a bit of an obsessive streak. It was getting harder to even stay mad at your behaviour as people around you began to get wrapped up in your little 'love story' and take it as real. Rin only grumbled to himself as he continued to endure the constant teasing and taunting from you, hoping that nobody else at the table would question it.
“When did you two even start dating?” Isagi asked abruptly. “Igaguri said you’ve been dating since the beginning of the year.”
“About seven months.” Rin didn’t even hesitate when answering this question, like he had been practising saying it in the mirror. “We went on a few dates for about a month before we actually made it official though. So we’ve been boyfriend and girlfriend for about six months.”
Of course, none of that was true. You had only agreed to play this fake role just yesterday, however it was crucial for the act that he made it come off as though you had been seeing each other for longer than that. Rin had even been repeating these kinds of questions to himself when he was alone, unbeknownst to you, so he could answer any queries seamlessly.
“I see! You two are a cute couple! Never thought I’d see Mr Stuck-Up with a girlfriend.” Isagi commented with a smirk.
“Right? But he’s just the cutest!” You grinned widely. “He’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me! It’s like I’ve changed for the better because of it!”
"Let’s not go too far…" Rin scoffed irritably. “You don’t have to act like I’m the best thing since sliced bread...” He replied with a slight hint of impatience as the friends around him continued discussing why he would begin dating a 'slacker like her'. Although the whispers weren’t explicitly said to you two, you could still hear every one. In spite of this, Rin kept up the act, continuing to pretend to be like a 'doting boyfriend' who's just as obsessed with her as she was with him.
Though, it seemed that everyone took notice of his irritability, so you quickly swooped in to justify it.
“Oh, we know Rin always acts cold, but trust me— He’s got a soft side for me!” You reassured the rest of them at the table, gaining herself a suspicious look from Rin. “When we’re in private, he’s so loving! You’d never believe it!”
His friends seemed to be a little disbelieving. Rin? Loving?
"Really?" Isagi seemed to reply with raised eyebrows, not quite buying into the idea of Rin being genuinely gentle behind closed doors. "It must be something special. He's never been like that to anyone else."
"Oh, honestly!" You interjected again. "I never thought that he had a kind side until I saw it for myself." You then leaned up to Rin again as you whispered mischievously in his ear, "right?" And this time, your tone felt almost taunting as you waited for him to respond.
"…Yes." He replied, trying his best to sound convincing even when he was getting irritated by the whole spiel. “It's kind of amazing, really. I usually feel so closed-off, but with (Y/n)..." His voice went a bit softer and kinder as he spoke of you. "There's a whole different side to me that she's able to bring out. I feel so comfortable with her."
“That’s so sweet!” Isagi gushed.
“Yeah, it’s almost unbelievable.” Chigiri stared back with a surprised expression.
“Believe me, he treats me in ways I know no one else would treat me.” You said, almost flirtatiously, as you looked towards the others, falling back on your own, annoying tricks. “It’s almost shocking how… Passionate he can be.” You said, tracing your palm slowly over his chest, still staring at his friends.
Rin's expression grew more conflicted and his face turned even redder than before when your hand began lingering over his chest instead of just holding onto his arm. You were being too touchy. Too flirty. Too talkative— Even more so than before.
"(Y-Y/n)..." He mumbled, trying his best to stay calm and not let his irritation show.
”Yes, dear?” You asked, batting your eyelashes towards him, your hand still placed on his chest.
“Stop being so touchy.” He told you quietly, a hint of frustration leaking out. It was starting to get under his skin just how well you were acting out the role… And how strangely you were playing it.
“Oh! My apologies!” You drew your palm away and glanced at the others. “I realise that they shouldn’t know what we get up to in private.” You giggled, which only annoyed him more. Now you were leaving too much to the imagination, especially for your pretend relationship.
"Yeah..." He mumbled, trying his best to stay composed as he noticed the others begin to wonder what exactly he and you were getting up to outside of school now. “Yeah, they shouldn’t…”
Because of the way you were acting, Rin was seriously doubting even bothering with this whole ‘fake dating’ idea. Not because he was seen with you, but because of how your entire dynamic seemed to shift. You had gone from two polar opposites hating each other, to begrudgingly acting alongside each other, but with a clear objective in mind. He hated the falsehood of it all, and he hated how well you played the role.

I still feel really bad for Stolas at Ozzie's. I feel like he was sort of facing an impossible choice there? I think he absolutely could and should have stood up for Blitz more; even if he couldn’t shield him from Ozzie, the knowledge that Blitz was under some sort of protection or banner of courtesy from a demon prince might have made at least Verosika back down. He could at least have defended him.
At the same time, Stolas’s whole strategy for surviving life seems to have been deferring to the status quo or "what should be." His father told him to marry Stella, so he did. As a demon prince he was supposed to stay in his marriage, so he quietly accepted Stella's mistreatment of him to maintain that status quo. And when a Sin himself called out Blitz, well, Stolas went back to his strategy of keeping his head down.
We know that Blitz’s first instinct is to protect his friends, even if it puts him in the line of fire. But well, Stolas doesn't really seem to HAVE friends. He didn't have to put himself in the line of fire because he was always there to begin with. He was always the target. The one person in his life he might have had to protect was Via, who seems to have at least an OK relationship with her mother judging by her reaction to Stolas yelling at her. So either Via was never a target of her mother's vitriol, or Stolas was able to insulate her from it by absorbing it himself. Maybe a bit of both. Either way, he was her primary victim from the start. So his instinct at Ozzie's was to quietly accept his jokes, except that now someone else was also a target.
I've seen the scene at Ozzie's compared to the way Ozzie stood up for Fizz at the end of s2e7, and I think they are definitely important parallels. However, there's one pretty glaring difference: Fizz and Ozzie are already in a loving, committed relationship. When Ozzie yells that he loves Fizz, it may be news (to some degree) to the rest of Hell, but it certainly isn't news to Fizz. The same can't be said of Stolas and Blitz. When Ozzie asks if he gave up his perfect family just to fuck Blitz, Stolas COULDN'T deny it, because that would mean telling all of Hell- INCLUDING BLITZ- that he was in love with him. And at that point in the evening, after he'd been anxiously trying to get Blitz to engage with him at all throughout their supposed date, he had every reason to believe those feelings weren't returned. And what other reason could he give?
He missed his opportunity to stand up for Blitz, but when Ozzie turned his sights on him, Stolas had no choice but to tacitly confirm Ozzie's assumptions. And honestly, I don't even think Ozzie was trying to be cruel, at least not to Stolas. Blitz was a target because of his past with Fizz, but Ozzie could have just as easily been sort of impressed with Stolas, especially given his apparent reputation as a stuck-up bore. I mean, Ozzie literally holds Stolas up as embodying the meaning of lust, right after tearing down Moxxie for not being lustful enough. Ozzie had no way of knowing about the fragile, tender thing that Stolas and Blitz were just beginning to create.
Unlike Blitz, Stolas isn't someone who usually jumps into action. He wasn't prepared to leap to Blitz’s defense because he wasn't used to having anyone to defend. And by the time he was in familiar territory- becoming a victim himself- he had no way to defend him without offering up his heart on a platter for Blitz to reject and the rest of Hell to ridicule. So he stayed quiet, and it all came crashing down anyway.

The Leclerc household was buzzing with activity on a sunny Sunday afternoon. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the sound of dishes clinking together filled the air. It was a typical day for the Leclerc family, except for one member who stood silently in the corner of the kitchen, observing the chaos before her. That member was Y/N Leclerc, the youngest of the Leclerc siblings.
Y/N was only seventeen, still in high school, while her brothers, Charles and Arthur, had already made their mark in the world of motorsports. Charles, the middle child, had achieved great success in Formula 1, while Arthur was steadily making his way through Formula 2. Y/N, however, was never given the opportunity to pursue her dreams of becoming a race car driver. The family's financial limitations forced them to prioritize Charles and Arthur's careers.
As Y/N watched her brothers and mother, Pascale, engaging in animated conversation, she couldn't help but feel a pang of longing. She desperately wanted to be a part of their world, to share in their victories and defeats. But fate had chosen a different path for her, one that she was still struggling to come to terms with.
"Y/N, can you pass me the sugar, s'il vous plaît?" Charles's voice interrupted her thoughts, his eyes focused on his phone.
Y/N snapped back to reality and reached for the sugar, placing it in front of him. "Here you go, Charles."
"Merci," he replied absentmindedly, already engrossed in his social media feed.
She glanced at Arthur, who was discussing race strategies with their mother in rapid French. He occasionally shot her a sympathetic smile, aware of the void in her heart.
Feeling a surge of frustration, Y/N mustered the courage to speak up. "Maman, I don't feel well can I go to my room?" she said, her voice wavering slightly.
Pascale turned to her daughter, a concerned expression on her face but still let her. "Bien sûr"
Y/N found solace in her bedroom, sitting on the edge of her bed, staring at the wall adorned with posters of her brothers' achievements. It was a constant reminder of the path she couldn't walk.
A soft knock on the door interrupted her thoughts, and her mother, Pascale, stepped in. She had a gentle smile on her face, but Y/N could see the sadness in her eyes.
"Ma chérie," Pascale said, her voice filled with love and concern. "Are you okay?"
Y/N fought back tears and nodded, unable to find the right words.
Pascale sat beside her and gently placed a hand on her shoulder. "I know it's difficult, Y/N. But your time will come. We couldn't afford to support all three of you at once, and it broke our hearts to make that decision."
Y/N's voice trembled as she spoke, "I just feel so invisible, Mom. Like I don't matter compared to Charles and Arthur. They're living their dreams, and I'm stuck here."
Pascale hugged her tightly, her voice softening. "You matter more than you know, my dear. You're our pillar of strength, our hope for the future. We couldn't have made it this far without you."
Y/N clung to her mother, tears streaming down her face. "Je sais, maman, mais c'est difficile. J'essaie de trouver ma place, mais j'ai l'impression que je ne pourrai jamais briller comme eux."
A few days later, Charles, Arthur, and Lorenzo found Y/N sitting in the garden, lost in her thoughts. They exchanged worried glances before joining her, taking a seat on the bench.
Lorenzo, the ever-protective older brother, broke the silence. "Y/N, we need to talk. We've noticed that you've been feeling down lately, and we want you to know that we see you. We love you."
Y/N looked up at them, tears streaming down her face. "I'm sorry. I don't want to be a burden. I just can't help feeling left behind."
Charles placed a hand on her shoulder, his voice filled with remorse. "Y/N, you're not a burden. We may be racing, but you're racing in your own way. You're still fighting, still pushing through, and we admire that."
Arthur chimed in, his voice full of conviction. "You've always been our biggest supporter, Y/N. Your presence gives us strength. We wouldn't be where we are without you."
Y/N wiped away her tears, a glimmer of hope returning to her eyes. She finally felt seen, acknowledged, and valued by her brothers.
"Merci," she whispered, a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "Je vous aime"
In that moment, they all understood the true meaning of family. It wasn't just about racing or achievements, but about being there for each other, supporting one another through the highs and lows of life.
The Leclerc family stood in a tender embrace, a silent acknowledgment of the love and bond they shared. In that moment, Y/N realized that while her dreams of becoming a race car driver may have been put on hold, she had something equally valuable—her family's unwavering support.
From that day forward, Y/N pursued her passion for motorsports in her own unique way. She became an avid spectator, cheering on her brothers from the sidelines, and found solace in other hobbies that sparked her creativity and brought her joy.
In the shadows of the track, Y/N Leclerc discovered her own light, finding fulfillment in the love of her family and the pursuit of her own dreams, however different they may be.

Dropout's statement from the discord about ticket pricing, for those that may not have seen it:
"Hey everyone! A statement from us here at Dropout and Dimension 20 about the ticket situation with Madison Square Garden - apologies it took a bit of time to get this all sorted, not the easiest stuff to coordinate when the whole cast is mid-travel and everyone at Dropout was prepping for our hiatus (which started yesterday):
The last time Dimension 20 had a live show was in 2019 - nearly 5 years ago - in the Bell House theater in Brooklyn, New York. It seated around 200 people, and we had to work to fill it. We expected our live show at Madison Square Garden to go roughly the same, just on a bigger scale - given we were punching so high above our weight class, we would have to work pretty hard to fill the Garden. After all, it was Madison Square Garden. We had misjudged the situation, to say the least.
Even though the UK live show tour tickets had sold quickly, it was nothing compared to what we saw with the situation over the Gauntlet at the Garden tickets. Dynamic Pricing / Platinum Tickets had not been something explained to us, nor something presented as something we had the ability to opt out of - once we had a better understanding of the situation as a group, we communicated to Live Nation that it was Dropout and the cast’s desire to opt out of all dynamic pricing tickets for this event and for all events going forward.
Thankfully, the average cost of all tickets sold so far (over 15,000 now!) is $119, meaning the vast majority of fans attending got tickets at a much more reasonable price, and dynamic pricing nonsense only kicked in for the few remaining seats. Even still, plenty of fans who wanted to attend got priced out quickly, and so we’re aiming to address that here and in the future in a few different ways:
1. Stop the dynamic pricing options for this show and all future shows.
2. Introducing Dimensioneer Tickets - a lottery system where selected individuals will have the opportunity to buy up to two tickets for $35/each (for seats placed all over the event space, including the best seats in the house). Apparently it’s something Olivia Rodrigo does! Thanks for the idea, Olivia. Links for that will be distributed soon.
3. This was already announced, but a recording of the live show will be going up on Dropout at no additional cost for all Dropout subscribers. We want to make our live shows as accessible to fans as possible, but the truth is that if you can't get to New York, if you can't get the night off work, if you can't afford the flight or the hotel, then you still can't go regardless of ticket prices. The most significant thing to us is that the live shows end up where the show itself lives, and that all our fans all over the world get a chance to participate.
We are so deeply grateful to everyone who has supported Dropout and Dimension 20 over the years and made this event sell out so quickly. And now that we have a better sense of how all of this works, the next live show will go much smoother. That’s been the journey of Dropout and Dimension 20 - trying a bunch of stuff, figuring out what works, and doing it better the next time around. And ultimately, we’re so grateful to have a venue that can accommodate so many of you. We could never have dreamed five years ago of having thousands of you in one place.
In the meantime, everyone at Dropout is on a two week companywide hiatus, and the cast of Dimension 20 is kicking off their UK live show tour in just a few days. Fans of Dimension 20 will have a LOT to look forward to in the next year, so stay tuned."

I’m definitely being greedy by sending a second but I had to share this… In the Manila timeline where Izzy wins, how would his relationship with reader change? But also, since we know Mikey is under his control at this point, would he let Mikey stay in contact with the reader??
UGHH JUST THINKIN ABOUT THAT MAKES MY SOUL ACHE 😭😭😭 HED have both of them on puppet strings… I’m so curious…
send as many as you want anon hehe, always happy to talk about Izzy!
Masterlist
I did somewhat explore this in my Red Dragonflies AU, specifically latest chapter Swallow the Sun *cough*, but since that was in the circumstance of you being a former gang leader yourself, I'll write this one of you from the POV of you being a regular civilian!
The main difference in Izana's relationship with you would be that there would be no reason for him to have to break you and your spirit to keep you with him after he had wins, so he doesn't. He actually likes you and all your personality, whatever it may be, and would very much want to keep you as you were when he first fell heads over heels, so with you being unable to fight back against him and his comparatively monstrous strength and instincts, there were much better ways to keep you in line.
Even as a yakuza boss himself, it would be rare for you to ever be allowed to leave his direct eye line no matter what Izzy was doing in the moment, and if you do, you would only do so only when accompanied by Kakucho. No one else. If neither men are free, that you're staying exactly where you are right by him. Izzy simply can't trust anyone else as far as he can throw them, not with someone as precious and dear to him as you.
Puppet string would be the right description for what would be your relationship with Izana. There were no decisions that you needed to make outside of what to wear (if Izzy hadn't already made up his mind what he wanted to see you in), and what to cook for him for meals - everything else in your life have already been decided for you. Truly, you were no more than a doll that doted and pampered and fawned over Izzy to patch the hole in his heart. He needed your love and attention more than anything, and now that he had you, you were not going to be doing much except tending to his needs.
Of course he didn't like to see you in pain and anguish - you were his darling, his princess - but after losing Shinichiro all those years ago, he couldn't lose you as well.
And that extended to losing you to Mikey. Mikey played a different role, filled a different hole in Izana's heart - he was supposed to be his Shinichiro replacement. If the two of you had been friends previously, then there was no way in hell Izana would ever let you meet Mikey again. Ever.
For one and most importantly, you were his world, his Sun, and he was your Izzy. You were his. You didn't need anyone else but him, let alone Mikey. He would never give you the opportunity to form an attachment to anyone but him.
For two, Izana needed Mikey to stay in that depressed state to be able to control him. And if Mikey was allowed to meet you, all that hard work might be undone - he and Kisaki had already put so much effort into completely breaking Mikey down to turn him into Shinichiro, and there was no way that he was going to risk you giving any sense of hope or comfort to the former Toman President that would let him break out of his misery.
So the answer would be that no. Absolutely not. You would never be allowed to stay in contact or even see Mikey.
Since the two of you were forcibly separated after Izana's win and Mikey started on his downward spiral, Mikey has never received any update on you and where you were - for all the blond-haired boy knew, you could have already been dead. Izana definitely played heavily into this, making references to you all the time but never confirming if it was you he was talking about. And after a while of the mind games, no doubt Mikey would have given up all hope on ever seeing you again.
Similar to what he does to Mikey, Izzy would also tease and dangle the promise of bringing you to meet the ex-Toman President in front of you as one of the tactics he uses to keep you in line, whispering to you all sorts of things about your former friend. That he was depressed, that he spoke constantly about missing you and if you could be dead, that he couldn't go on without you. Lies, but what would you know?
Izzy lamenting that he wants to bring you to go see and even speak with Mikey, but you were so ill-behaved that this tanned man didn't know if he can trust you. Would occasionally gift you photographs of Mikey just to convince you that the other was still alive, but always just a bit out of reach - the photos would never have his face, just his side or his back, or it would be a blurry shot.
After all, his life was just perfectly right at the moment, so why would he risk ruining it all?

Tumblr media
After Remus had given the two a tour of the train, he had instructed them to sit at a table full of food.
Their mentors, Oscar Shan and Finnick Odair, were already sat at the table, Cove held her breath, as she watched the blond, noticing how his eyes didn't waver from his fish.
"Take a seat, the both of you, I want to discuss the reaping's with you." Remus told the pair.
Lake sat down, opposite Oscar, leaving the only other empty seat, in front of Finnick.
"You made yourself look a fool, out there Covey." Lake told her, as she awkwardly stumbled into her seat. "You're lucky I'm your partner."
A scoff had come from their young mentor, who had yet to look up.
"My my, the people love you." Remus seemed to be reading from some device. "Oh, you're going to be stars this year." He grinned widely. "I must say, you've certainly changed since the last time I saw you, at the 66th Victory tour, wasn't it?" He looked at the girl.
"I was 15." She defended herself "Grieving my family."
"She speaks!" He cheered, clapping his hands at his own amusement.
"You've got a good voice." Oscar spoke up, eying Cove, now. "I've heard you sing, a few times."
"Well, its not like you can sing your way out of this." Lake chuckled at his own joke. "How's that gonna save you."
Cove bit her lip, looking down at her empty plate.
"The Hunger Games isn't all about being a good fighter." Oscar told him. "It's about crowd work, appeasing to your audience, it's something the both of you could work on, actually, you want the Capital to like you, seem confident in yourself, but don't come across as total dick." The hint wasn't missed by anyone.
“Language” Remus reprimanded.
"Finnick, any thoughts on how your tributes could better themselves?" Oscar asked him, as he had yet to utter a word to anyone, yet.
He sat up in his chair, clearing his throat, as he seemed to think.
"Look like you want to be here, you were too zoned out during your reaping." He was speaking to Cove, but he wasn't looking at her. "Your acting as if this is a punishment, when it's not, you've been given the opportunity to support your district, to honour them, as well as your family."
"Its a bit hard to honour my family, when half of them are dead." She stared at him, as her words looked to have a physical effect on the boy, she didn't miss how he had slightly shuddered at the reminder.
"Well, seems like you two will be this years darlings, the others can't compare, oh how lucky am I." Remus nodded his head. "I've always said this district should be famous for their looks. This will help you both with sponsors, you're both already so popular."
"If you just wore the dress, we'd be at the top." Lake commented, stuffing his face with a spoonful of lobster stew.
"I think I'm going to excuse myself." Cove stood up from her chair, quickly evacuating from the table, and to the other cart, where her chambers were.
As soon as she had entered, she had rushed to the bathroom, spilling out all the contents from her stomach, into the toilet bowl.
Once there was nothing left, she sat back, tears streaming down her face.
She was going to die, in a weeks time, without even a goodbye to her father, and all anyone was concerned about was her looks.
The thought of even killing another person, was making her want to hurl again, there was no chance she was beating the odds of 1/23. How the hell were they in her favour.
It wasn't until later in the night, when she was curled in bed, that she heard the knock at her door.
She reluctantly got up, she bet it was Lake, coming to taunt her some more.
"Just leave me- Finnick?" She gasped.
"We need to talk." He hurried into her room, closing the door behind himself.
"Well of course, why don't you come in." She sassed, folding her arms across her chest.
"Cove..." He started, but then he started pacing the floor.
"It's late." She sighed.
"Why are you here, why?" He asked, but it sounded rather rhetorical.
"I was reaped, Finn... ick." She had corrected herself, after a second, she hadn't called him "Finn" Since before he had gone off to his own games.
"It shouldn't be you." He looked at her.
"You're saying this, as if its supposed to change anything. I'm trying to make peace with it."
"Don't" He snapped. "Don't make peace with it, Cove."
"But."
"No, you- you have to..." He turned around again, his hands in his hair, and he thought. "Look, I need you to listen to me, carefully, I'm your mentor, you're gonna do everything I say, okay, you're going to take this seriously, and you're gonna do everything you can to get yourself out of that arena."
"Please, we haven't had a female tribute since Mags." She scoffed. "Why waste my efforts."
"For your dad, you're all he has left."
"He didn't even come to say goodbye to me, he doesn't think I'm coming home."
This had thrown him, for a second, Finnick was aware how much Cove's parents had loved their children, he had been there, watched as her mother hung from that rope, by her neck, just for the loss of her son.
"You have to come back, for me." He spoke softly, she could barely hear him.
Her eyes locked onto his.
"For you?" She repeated. "I don't know you."
"Yes you do." He nodded, stepping closer.
"No, no I don't, I know the old Finnick, my friend, Finnick. But I don't know you, I haven't known you for a long time."
"You do." He closed his eyes, he was even closer to her, picking up one of her curls, rubbing his thumb along it. "You know me more than anyone in this whole place, nothing about me has changed, only how I act."
"Finnick..." For someone she hadn't seen in so long, why was it so easy for her to fall for his words, to let them matter to her? "I won't be able to do this, I can't."
"Yes, you can, you can and you will." He nodded, a small encouraging smile on his face, as she shook her head, her brows furrowed, as she pouted. "You can."
"You're not listening to me." She was beginning to get frustrated.
"You need to listen to me, Covey, you can do this, because you're going to listen to everything I saw, you understand? You will talk like I tell you to, you will smile like I tell you to, act like I tell you to, if you do what I say, just, do what I say, please."
"But-"
"Promise me." He cut her off. "Promise me you will do it, let me mentor you."
"I promise." She whispered, looking away from his stern gaze.
He grabbed the side of her face, pulling her attention back to him.
"Say it again." He told her.
"I promise." She repeated, louder. "I promise, Finnick."
"Good." He stared at her for a little longer, seeming to be debating something, before pulling her into a hug. "You'll come back." He muttered into her hair. "You'll come back to me."
A lot of time had passed, when he finally pulled away.
"Get some sleep, Cove, big day tomorrow." Finnick bid her goodbye, before leaving her room.
The next day, Remus knocked on her door, loudly.
"Cove, breakfast! Get up!" He called through her door.
She wiped her eyes, as she pushed the duvet off of herself, letting out a yawn.
She didn't bother changing from the pale blue cami and pajama bottoms, instead, headed straight towards the food cart.
Everyone was already sat around the table, eating, when she entered, pushing her hair out of her face.
"Good morning." Oscar greeted her.
"Morning." She sighed.
"Eat up, eat up, won't be long until we're at the capital, and Cove, I hope you hurry, so you have time to sort yourself out. Is there something living in there?" He inspected her hair.
"No?" She shook her head slowly, as she piled Danishes of all sorts of colours, onto her plate.
"Remus, leave the poor girl alone." Oscar told him. "But, speaking of which, when we do get to the Capitol, you know that there will be the parade, today."
"Yeah, so they get to meet us." Lake answered.
"Yes, where they get their first real look at who's competing, this year. So you want to amp this up, bring the energy, look as though you are excited for the games to start, show them what you're all about." Oscar continued. "But, the other tributes will be seeing this, they will be investigating you and your characters, that's why it's important that the both of you act like civil partners, it's not uncommon that districts ally with each other, so if this helps you get other ally's, like the careers' or makes them fear you, is up to you two."
Cove looked at Finnick, who subtly nodded.
She would act like a united front with Lake, If that's what was best for her.
"We can do that." She looked at Lake.
"So you're on board, now, Tippet?" Lake smirked at her.
"Only one of us has a chance of surviving, may as well make sure it's District 4."
"That's what I'm talking about." Oscar clapped his hands at the two.
"Excellent!" Remus rejoiced. "Time is ticking." He picked up the Danish off Cove's plate, practically shoving it in her mouth. "Come on, come on. Let's not give our stylists too much trouble."
Oscar rolled his eyes as he got up, going in the direction of the bar cart.
After breakfast, Cove took a shower, she had set the temperature of what she predicted the water at home would be, she was already feeling home sick, and it hadn't even been a day.
She then did her best to tidy up her hair, taking full advantage of the equipment in the bathroom, then she dressed in a simple vest-top and jeans, before leaving her room.
"Finally, I was beginning to wonder if you had drowned yourself in there." Remus tutted, when she joined the rest of them, back in the cart, but this time, all the food was gone, and there was a lot more space to sit alone.
"Just freshening up" She smiled kindly, this was the start of the act, it was the same act she played at home, getting people to like her. "Are we nearly at the Capital?"
"Almost." Oscar was cut off, as everything went dark, then it was light again. "Now, we're in the Capital."
"Look!" Lake pointed at the window, and Cove followed him, as they sat on the backs of the couch, taking their first ever look at the Capital, in person, not just from their televisions, but it looked even more rich and impressive in person, Cove thought to herself.
"Wow." She whispered, "There's people" She pointed.
"It starts." Oscar commented, taking a sip of his drink.
Cove waved at the Capital people, and Lake copied, watching as the brightly coloured, and dramatic looking citizens giggled to themselves and waved back, giving kisses with their hands.
She looked over her shoulder, catching Finnick's eye, he gave her a wink, though his face didn't show any other emotion, but boredness.
"I love the district 4's, they're so easy" A woman named Epona gleamed, as her and another woman, Clio, assessed her naked body.
So far, all they had done, was remove her facial hair and scrub her down, and give her a facial.
"Thank you." Cove didn't know if she was supposed to talk, but her mother had always drove hard on how important manners were.
"Now, we want you to get into the tub, and I'm going to fix your hair." Clio told her. "Ep, go get Linus."
"Of course, oh, he's going to love you!" Epona left the room, as Cove climbed into the shimmery water.
As she lifted her hand from the water, she realised that it had left her skin sparkling, much like how the water looked, when the sun hit it, back home.
Clio had taken a brush to Cove's curls, not seeming to care if she was ripping it out of the girls scalp, before running a hot iron through it, leaving it extra long and straight, something she never did to her hair.
Another hour had passed, when Clio let her know that she was done, and to get out of the tub, handing her a towel to dry off.
Then Epona returns, with a man.
He looked serious, there was no room for anything but business, for him, Cove thought, she definitely knew that it was a time to be seen and not heard.
He was dressed in a simple coral coloured suit, wearing big sparking glasses, that matched, as he walked around her, deep in thought, his pinky to his lip.
"Ah." He hummed. "Mhm."
He then sat down on one of the couches, taking a sip of some bright pink drink.
"Well, you have a beautiful body, lovely curves, but your silluette." He kissed his fingers.
Cove smiled gratefully, attempting to cover up her body, by hugging herself tightly.
"What you wore for your reaping." He started. "Excellent choice, but the sweater, that's what I want to work with."
Linus had decided to dress Cove in a thick white crocheted type of fabric, wrapping it around her in a dress, hugging her figure, but it left the side's of her body and her back exposed, she had nothing under it, so she was still very much naked, which linus had "fixed" by incorporating peals onto her dress, all sorts of colours along the "dress" and covering her most private parts, but only slightly.
They then sprayed her down once again, in a special kind of water substance, that left her looking as though she just took a dip in the nowhere to be seen water, when she had gone to rub a waterdrop dry, she had found that it wouldn't disappear.
They had done similar with her hair, plaiting two sections of it into fish braids, whilst leaving the rest of it down, dotting white "pearls" along her locks, after gelling it back and high, giving her volume that her original hair already had.
They then used the same shimmery water, massaging it into her face, she guessed this would help make her glow.
Her eyes were painted blue, with long lash extensions, giving it a dramatic flare.
Epona had been the one to use a white paint, dotting it around her eye area, in different sizes.
She guessed it looked good, when they had all took a step back and gasped at their masterpiece.
"This might be your best work yet, Linus." Clio complimented.
"And it's all thanks to you." He lifted Cove's hand, kissing the back of it. "You look marvellous."
"Thank you." She looked at the three, smiling gratefully.
And when she was moved to look in the mirror, she had hardly recognised herself, and she appreciated it, it wouldn't be that hard to play someone else, if you didn't look like yourself.
After some last minute touches were added, Cove was taken to the ground floor of the remake centre, where she had reunited with Lake, who was dressed in a similar attire, but not nearly as "extravagant."
"You look good." He said, helping her into the Chariot.
"Thank you." She repeated. "So do you."
"They're already eyeing you down." Lake shared, nodding at the first two chariots, where the tributes of district 1 and district 2 were, Luxury and Masonry, the careers.
"They're either gonna wanna take us out first, or ally with us." He told her.
"And what do we want to do?"
"Nothing yet, we'll know when they come up to us. But, by the looks of it, you got some fans, already."
He grinned at the two boys, who were watching her carefully, as the girls whispered to each other.
"Don't trust 2, but 1, maybe that's something we can explore."
"What do you mean?" Cove asked, looking at her partner.
"2 are psycho, all they want is bloodshed, it's like they don't have feelings, so they can play, but I wouldn't trust them, not by how far I can throw them, 1, they're used to getting what they want, they like having pretty things."
"Alright." She nodded. "How've you worked all this out?"
"One of our mentor's actually wants to give me a winning chance." He commented. "Instead of just you."
Cove looked behind her, getting a look at the other tributes, the other districts.
A lot of them weren't as underdressed as her and Lake were.
As the chariots went down, so did the look of them, a lot looked ill, malnourished, and petrified.
She spotted some young faces, but a majority seemed to be 16 and over, she was grateful for that.
That was good, it would make it a lot easier to kill them, if they weren't so small, so innocent.
Soon, the chariots were being pulled, District 1 were the first ones shown to the Capital, and to all of Panem.
"Smile and wave." Lake muttered to her, as their Chariot was pulled forward.
"I know what to do." She murmured back, smiling widely, as she looked around at the crowds cheering and shouting at them.
"Can you hear that?" He asked her, as they looked at themselves on the big screen. "They're cheering for us."
Cove listened, and he was right, they were cheering for her and Lake, loudly.
The capitalites chucked gifts and flowers at them, Lake had caught a bouquet of carnations, passing them to Cove, with care.
She gave him a grateful smile, as she waved kisses at the crowd, hugging the flowers.
Hopefully, gaining sponsors wouldn't be an issue.

Last Twilight Ep 8; Thoughts
We're at the 2/3 mark of the show, and the episode honestly felt surreal. Last Twilight is continuing to parallel iconic moments of Bad Buddy, this time with running away and scenes on the beach. However, it never feels like it's boring or repetitive, because while the parallels are clear, the shows are also distinct. It's clear that the characters in the two shows are pushed by different things.
Tumblr media
I was yelling at the screen when I realized Mhok and Day were going off on their own, because ditching Night = recipe for disater (he'd obviously call Day's mom!?!)
Tumblr media
But then this happened, and I had to pause and take a moment, now that my fears had been resolved. We know so little about Night, and yet so much. Understanding his character requires a lot of reading in between the lines, and until we know what happened between the brothers, the picture won't be complete. I did, in fact, breathe a huge sigh of relief when I realized that Night was in on it, because while Mhok and Day are capable of handling themselves, if Day's mother found out, we all know that it wouldn't make for a pretty situation.
Which calls in something else I'm curious about. Is Day really naive enough to believe that they can ditch Night with no consequences? Or is there some trust left in Day, that Night will let them go. Has he figured that Night is likely in on it, and is choosing to remain quiet?
There's a number of possibilities, and I'm curious to see how it plays out. It's highly likely that his anxiousness to get away from Night, and trust in Mhok meant that the though simply hasn't crossed his mind too.
On that topic, if we rewind to the beginning of the ep
Tumblr media
I just love how much Day trusts Mhok. It's obvious, but I felt it was worth pointing out. Mhok tells Day that there's no one there, and Day accepts. Mhok having played the caregiver role for Day for so long is definitely the main reason for this, and it's beautiful to watch.
Tumblr media
Speaking of transparency in their relationship, can I take a moment to talk about just how much I loved this scene? Mhok was upset about the prank, and Day wasn't taking it seriously. Mhok could have clammed up, creating tension between the two. It would even be expected, given his role as Day's caretaker and the 'put Day first' mentality that we've seen so far. But he doesn't, and oh my god, this calls for aplause. He calls Day out on it, and gives Day a taste of his own medicine. And, this is something that perfectly shows that things are not the same now that they're boyfriends. Mhok gets more agency, more say, because he's one half of the relationship. I've said thia before about the subversion of faen fatale, and I'll say it again; Last Twilight has a very strong identity as a show, and a very strong grasp on what it's doing. Time and time again, it has shown us opportunities that it could have taken to create drama, and veered in the opposite direction entirely. The subversion is intentional, and clearly so.
While we're talking about characters standing up for their feelings..
Tumblr media
I feel like someone should create a masterpost of everything we know about Night, and we can add on every bit of new info we get and compare it to the rest, because everything tells us so little yet so much. It seems that Night is still willing to push against Day's hatred. But of course, he's more willing to allow Day to live happily, as we see him letting the two go off on their own. It seems that every time Night does something for Day, he prefers to do it anonymously, such as showing up to the race. We've seen that he's accepted the villain image. Is this why he seems keen on upholding that villain image in front of Day, while helping him behind his back? P'Aof isn't one to write conflict for small or petty reason, so I'm starting to be more and more convinced that Night genuinely did something wrong to Day. He regrets it, but he also knows he can't take it back or heal their bond, so he's simply keeping the status quo, helping his brother behind his back, while only allowing himself to be selfish on occasion, like this one. I'm so intrigued by Night and his mannerisms, his actions.
Back tracking a bit again, (this is a mess)
Tumblr media
This scene was a pivotal moment. I've previously mentioned that Day was living in a fantasy, and I've also briefly touched on Day's sence of normalcy in a post, how he was relying on things to go back to 'normal' and how he's been able to build a new normal with Mhok. He'd get the transplant eventually, and things would go back to 'normal'. Mhok helped Day redefine his 'normal', but the hope that his sight would return one day was still present. Here, it's shattered. Up till now, Day was living his life as if he were biding his time till he got his eyesight back. Now he's going to be living as if he has to wrap up a lifetime of memories in three months. He's feeling as though time is running out.
Tumblr media
I think this is one of the first times I've seen Day talk back to his mom, which is fair, because it's ingrained in asian kids to not talk back to your elders. Day is, in the end, a rich kid. On top of that, he has a single mom. 1+1=2, Day didn't get to see much of his mom growing up. @waitmyturtles talked about this a bit in a post, mentioning how Day's mom's career always came first. She didn't have time to attend a game because she had an event, she couldn't come to school for something because she had a meeting, etc etc. (I don't know how much of an age gap there is between Day and Night, but anyone thinking that Night had to fill in on occasion..?) He's making a jab at his mom, that she's far to busy to be there with him for stuff, and she's far too overprotective to let another be there with him for it. Again, typical rich family dysfunction. Day and his mother's dynamic will be an interesting thing to watch as the episodes progress, that's for sure.
Alright, onto the last one
Tumblr media
When I'm not sure if there's a deeper meaning behind a scene, music is always a great clue that there is something greater behind it. As episodes progress, we've seen Day slowly reassimilate himself in society. This is such an important theme, because being a part of and engaging with society is a huge part of asian culture. I view this dance as a sort of culmination of the progress that Day has made over time with Mhok. Would the Day at the beginning of the series have danced with a stranger at a party while having worse eyesight that before? No way in hell. Also, paying respect and interactling with older people is, again, a HUGE part of asian culture, so this was essentially the perfect way to depict this culmination. When the first episode had aired, @twig-tea had first introduced in a post the theme of liminality in Last Twilight. One of the definitions given was "of, relating to, or being an intermediate state, phase, or condition : IN-BETWEEN, TRANSITIONAL". Since Mhok entered Day's life, he's been in a liminal (transitional) state, as he moves closer to rejoing society. In this scene, we see what I'd like to say is the end of this liminal state. Of course, this isn't to say that Day is no longer in a state of liminality. Liminality presents itself in various ways throughout the show. This is simply a culmination of Day and Mhok's efforts to reintegrate Day into society. While the battle is far from over; disable people often find themselves outcasted and removed from society; it's a sign of hope, a sign of growth, a sign that their efforts have a result.

Iruka x Reader x Kakashi Love Triange Headcanons
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tags/Warnings: No Reader Pronouns
𓆃 Hm... I guess you have a decision between a mentally stable, emotionally intelligent man with no commitment issues who is willing to settle down and give you anything you could humanly ask for... and Kakashi.
𓆃 Okay, perhaps that's not entirely fair, but that's certainly how Kakashi is bound to think.
𓆃 Due to the nature of the shinobi profession, most shinobi start young and retire young compared to other jobs. Even older shinobi take on less field work in favor of other high leadership opportunities.
𓆃 And at some point, a shinobi has to decide what their career path is going to be like, given that they're all so varied. This is likely to be the main point of contention when it comes to your triangle dynamic.
𓆃 Now, Iruka and Kakashi don't really know each other. Sure, Iruka is a prominent teacher at the academy and him and Kakashi have had professional interactions, but they aren't necessarily friends.
𓆃 And honestly, most of the triangle hinges on how they view each other rather than how they view you.
𓆃 Clearly, they view you positively and romantically, but pursuing you in spite of each other is where they almost get wrapped up in themselves in a way that a traditional "love triangle" typically doesn't function.
𓆃 They're both aware of their mutual interest in you. Kakashi is bound to figure this out first since he tends to have a sharper eye for these sorts of things, but Iruka isn't too far behind.
𓆃 You'll have a wonderful friendship with Kakashi and Iruka, which serves as the foundation for your budding relationships and their interactions with each other.
𓆃 The stand-up men they are, all Kakashi and Iruka want is for you to be happy... they just can't agree on what that means.
𓆃 Kakashi sees Iruka as a stable partner who can provide for you and who you won't have to worry about losing. He knows that he's emotionally unavailable and struggles when it comes to commitment. He believes that until his inner problems are 100% fixed, he's not ready for a long-term relationship and is a serial self saboteur.
𓆃 Meanwhile, Iruka doesn't consider himself to be someone with a lot to offer. He's a chūnin who's been in the same position his whole life. Teaching isn't very glamorous, and he considers the dynamic you have with Kakashi to be more exciting for you.
𓆃 He perceives Kakashi as able to offer you a more fulfilling like compared to his "boring routine."
𓆃 Sometimes, they make meaningful eye contact when the three of you are together, and the communication varies each time.
𓆃 Sometimes, it's Kakashi communicating that you've had a really bad day and your level of upset is more in Iruka's skill range. Or maybe you're leaving a party, and Iruka is telling Kakashi that he should probably walk you home.
𓆃 What's a truly juicy dynamic is if you're dating them at the same time. Perhaps you're casually dating because you're already thinking about your future as a shinobi. Or maybe you're a civilian who's anxious about dating shinobi men.
𓆃 But they know. They do know that you're dating the both of them trying to feel out of you want to make anything official if anything else. And they're cool with it for the most part.
𓆃 If you happen to have a, "wait... the two of you know each other?" moment, expect more meaningful eye contact.
Thank you to all who liked, reblogged, followed, and supported. Your support means so much and is greatly appreciated.

I'm not the anon who sent the "grian and doc are brothers" ask, but your "those pining will have to get through some shovel talk" addition gave me this idea
Doc is not the brother to worry about! Scar and Mumbo were terrified to confess their feelings towards Grian because of what Doc would think of them sorta becoming a part of his family. Once they got over it and were happily snuggled up to each other in Grian's living room, Doc walked in and did a solid one-two double take at the scene. The three of them froze but Doc just told them not to eat his granola. That was it!! The same Doc that is known for breaking the very building blocks of reality over a minor inconvenience had nothing to say!
However, Grian....he sure is something!
Ren has no problem making his feelings known, and when he realized that his growing affection for Doc was indeed romantic, there was no hesitation in confessing. Luckily Doc was asleep when Grian saw them laying together on the couch so he didn't go full Watcher, "Be Not Afraid" on Ren, but it was a near thing. Ren has had a few partners before Doc, and he's had his fair share of shovel talk. Nothing quite compares to having a Watcher decide that You Are Now Listening to what they have to say. Luckily Ren and Doc would continue to love each other and Grian would eventually come around to Ren being a familiar, nonthreatening addition to the flock and not an intruder needing to be dealt with.
Funnily enough, since Grian didn't properly meet Etho until late into season 7, and Etho is one of Doc's bestest buds, Grian did try to intimidate him. Etho was generally unfazed, though he was surprised the first time they ran into each other by the time Grian rolled up to the monstrosity with a Look in his eye, Etho was ready and waiting. Etho is of the void, and even a Watcher can't gaze too deep without getting hurt.
The brothers are fiercely protective of each other, which is why they're on opposite sides so often. They can control the severity of the conflict, make sure they don't get hurt, that nothing goes too far, and in this case, Doc is the one to worry about. But otherwise, Grian is the loose canon to keep an eye on.
Nowadays it's not uncommon to see one or the other taking care of the significant others of their brother. Scar and Mumbo, though banned from the perimeter, are always welcome home on a technicality. Doc takes care of them like he takes care of Grian, which is tough love and lots of gifts. Ren keeps finding things he's lost, items just appear on his desk even though they've been lost for years. He thanks Grian by politely avoiding eye contact and getting at hard to reach pinfeathers behind Grian's ears.
-s
Scar and Mumbo are very aware the situation may be different if they hurt Grian - something they never intend on doing. It's encouraged them to learn how to resolve conflicts in a healthy way, so they can thank Doc for that!
Doc has a lot of love for his growing family. The two spent so long on their own, Doc adores having people he knows randomly walk in and say hi. To find Mumbo or Scar passed out on his sofa, or cooking in the kitchen. Most of all, he likes seeing Grian happy. They're doing a good job of that.
Grian thinks the same. It's just also his given right to be a nuisance to people Doc cares about at any opportunity. If they can put up with him then they're good enough for Doc!

FROZEN 3 and FROZEN 4 are both in development, and I can't wait!
The news sounded odd to me initially, I didn't expect anything like this from Disney Animation, but it became immediatly appealing the moment I realized the GREAT potential a double feature could have for the franchise, most importantly when Bob Iger specified “Jenn Lee, who created Frozen, the original Frozen, and Frozen 2 is hard at work with her team at Disney Animation on not one but actually two stories.”, which would mean:
More time to enstablish new elements, new characters, time to explore new lore and new places without the risk to rush everything;
Tumblr media
A bigger story that can help flesh out our protagonists in their new roles, their new wants and changes they might face, considering how the F2 ending brought many new possibilities;
Tumblr media
A narrative context where the new crysis (whatever it might be) could be explored even better, also allowing to maintain things in a complex prespective just as the Frozen movies like to do, where the matter of "good and evil" not at the center, and things are first of all deeply personal for the characters
Tumblr media
It seems to me that Jennifer Lee always wanted to delve deeper into things, this is why the Broadway Musical was a perfect opportunity for her and the Lopez to expand the characters and flesh out things in the story, also adding new elements that would've been useful for F2.
And when they worked on Frozen 2, they built it as the "second part" of the story, reconnecting almost all the aspects of the sequel to the 1st movie, and the story was clearly meant to be BIGGER and longer compared to what we ended up having because of numerous issues and rewrites. J. Lee and C. Buck didn't want to introduce something that would feel just as "a new adventure", and more about the actual characters evolving, see what they left unresolved, breaking the "Happy ending" scenario of F1, which also led them to NOT give the new human characters (Mattias and the Northuldra) the same relevance given to Spirits of Nature, in order to remain focused on Elsa, Anna and the rest of the gang.
Tumblr media
Now, Lee will most likely not direct or write these two new movies, but she is still directly involved, because it's both part of her job as CCO of Walt Disney Animation Studio and because Frozen is her (and Chris Buck) baby. It will be curious to discover with what idea Marc Smith came out with, but the fact he worked on the 1st Frozen as a storyboard artist and the became Director of Story for Frozen 2 says a lot about him and why Lee trusts him so much, and I'm sure they will follow the approach used with the 2nd movie and carry it on with 3 and 4. Numerous sagas used the two-parter approach, like the books adaptations of Harry Potter, Twilight and Hunger Games series, or more "original cases" like Pirates of the Carribeans or what we are getting now with the animated Spiderverse movies (Across and Beyond). But I think the best similarity (and probably what led to this ambitious choice) is with Avengers Infinity War/Endgame, where the BIG FINALE gets developed in two movies.

Can I ask for your opinion about Kon's relationship with Dick?
People normally think about Tim and Kon when I ask their opinion about Robin and Super Boy
Maybe because I got introduced to Kon(then Conner) thru Young Justice, but when I hear it, its always been Dick and Conner
But I can see why they only think about Tim and Kon, because of the comics and all. Hell I'm not even sure if Kon and Conner have the same backstory, so I'm very confused
It's just, nobody talks about their relationship, like at all, and I get so curious the more I see Dicks interactions with the other supers in the kent family, and then I compare that to the lack of content about Kon and Dick regarding their relationship
oh man I get so confused with Young Justice tv show vs comics. It's insane the overlap. I saw Kaldur in Teen Titans (2016) with Damian and felt so bewildered why Dick and Kaldur didn't know each other before I realized - different universes. It's still weird and offsetting every time I see Kaldur though. Same with M'gann in Titans (2016) comic.
I really enjoyed Dick and Connor dynamic in Young Justice. The dynamic though! The cackling little maniac who's half his height is somehow the saviour of the most stoic man with some of the biggest daddy issues with the nicest man on earth.
In the comics, Conner kinda hero-worships/is a little intimidated by Dick

Teen Titans (2003) Issue #33
The other time in the comics, Dick shows up with the Titans because someone's Conner trying to calm down has become a big problem for civilian safety.
They have a confrontation where Dick wants to take them down but Conner thinks she can still be saved.

Superboy (1994) Issue #81
It's always interesting for me to read Nightwing in younger heroes comics because of the way he's written. Like here for instance, he effectively took control and deescalated the situation but it's from Kon's point of view so it also feels like Dick is taking over Kon's jurisdiction. Yet at the end, the way the scene progresses, this feels good. The way Nightwing is seen through Kon's eyes is like an untouchable figure who's just so good at everything and in control of stuff. Yet this moment, there's a softer quality to him than when he came in, giving the sense that Kon has earned Nightwing's respect, the respect of someone he views untouchable. And that's a good feeling. The subtlety in this was great.
So I feel like you can go two way with Kon and Dick. The first is the Young Justice way where they're sort of the same age vibe.
youtube
I miss this dynamic!
The second is the comic way where he hero worships Dick (as everyone does). I don't like how they don't have a lot of interactions together given how close Dick is with the Superfam. But also Kon and Clark don't get along that well either so I guess it makes sense that Kon wouldn't be around Dick as much simply by way of missed opportunities. There should still be a lot more though.
Personally, I love Conner and Dick. They fight but they respect each other and they treat each other on equal terms. They're fun!

hi! will you write an eric x reader where reader pines over eric (but in style) and eric feels incredibly drawn to her so when she is dancing and flirting with someone in the club, eric loses it and gets all protective and claims her as his or something smutty/fluffy/protective/jealousy shit like that
Yesssssss ERIC NORTHMAN BABY!! Changed it to add backstory etc :)
Y/n had spent months pining over Eric as he sat upon the throne and demanded her attention, Sookie had introduced them and he'd offered a job at his bar apparently to keep an eye on Sookie through Y/n but he very rarely asked about Sookie. Y/n had accepted the job offer after she'd been let go from her retail job weirdly after she'd declined his first offer but she hadn't given it much thought and accepted Eric's. Y/n sighed as she saw him curl his finger at her, throwing down the rag and approaching the throne, making her way as Vampires and Human's parted for her since this was the third time he'd called her since opening two hours ago. As she walked up she couldn't help how her heart beat faster and the blood rose to her cheeks, she always loved looking at him on the throne. She had thought he was an arrogant prick to begin with and then she'd slowly started to see the appeal until now she took every opportunity to flirt and tease him, he didn't often reciprocate but now she was just annoyed at how much he needed her attention tonight since Ginger was a useless bar tender and the place was packed. Standing in front of him Y/n placed a hand on her hip and raised her eyebrow as he looked her up and down with a smirk. "Look you and i both know you are a hot ass man Eric but you can't keep dragging me up here, what do you want?" Eric smirked as he widened his legs slightly, Y/n's eyes moving to look as she took in a small breath and darted her eyes back to his face, crossing her arms as she waited.
"I need a drink. Come sit." Y/n rolled her eyes, Eric did this a lot, asking her over to see if she'd let him feed off her, when she first had developed her crush she'd almost jumped for joy and done it but that only lasted two nights before she lost interest and tips because of it. it was appealing to sit on his lap, his arm around her and let him feed off her for only a minute but then he wouldn't let her go and she'd spend the whole night in his lap. She had thought this was because he liked her, he didn't do it to anyone else but when she'd told Sookie she'd almost gotten slapped for being stupid so she hadn't done it since.
"Mhm, what type do you want? I can bring you a true blood and that can sit in your lap." Eric hid his scowl easily, when she'd first been hired she'd been like a new puppy happy to do anything he asked and followed him with her eyes, now she hid her affection much better. He's offered her the job after he felt an odd pull to her and having her in the same place most nights and knowing what she was doing made him feel much more in control compared to in the days at her old job when he'd wake up and feel a need go drag her to him.
"O Neg." Eric replied, watching Y/n as she left, a fangtasia top and black ripped jeans covering her body from him, she had always opposed the uniform and said she just wanted a t shirt and jeans if she was going to be working from dusk to dawn. He'd only let her after she shrugged and said she'd quit, after a month he'd even bought her some corsets and tiny shorts with a smirk and demanded she wear it, it had been a good week until another Vampire tried to touch her and Eric had almost ripped him apart. Y/n hadn't seen it, only felt uncomfortable and when she'd turned to make a drink Eric had thrown the Vampire out his club. Y/n sighed and made her way through the crowd, she hated how much she wanted to crawl into his lap and enjoy the shift with him whispering her ear about each human and listen to him talk for hours. Y/n heated up the O neg, making a few more drinks as she kept looking back to Eric who was glaring at a man at the end of the bar, Y/n hearing the microwave ding, placing her drink in front of the man Eric was glaring at. As she went to move away the man grabbed her hand, Y/n's eyes widening as she looked at him, the man smiling as he turned her hand over and pressed a $100 bill into her hand.
"Thank you beautiful, have a good night." Y/n put on a polite smile and mumbled a thanks to him before pulling her hand away, tucking the bill into her jeans and grabbed Eric's drink. Drunk men always seemed to think if they tip they can touch, placing the drink on a tray Y/n made her way to Eric, his eyes still on the man as she moved round to place the drink on his side table, her head next to his. Eric turning his head and grabbing her wrist as she placed down the drink, Y/n looking up at him, faces too close for her heart to handle.
"Do not let customers touch you again." Y/n scowled as she looked towards the Bar where Ginger had a man holding her boobs and taking a shot from between them, looking back at Eric with her eyebrow raised. Putting on a smirk Y/n placed both hands on the side of the throne and leaned forward until their lips were almost centimetres away, biting her lip as she gave him an innocent look.
"Is someone jealous? It's okay you're still my favourite." Eric gave her a small glare as she leaned back with a mischievous grin, grabbing her tray and placing it under her arm as she looked at him, his hand tensing on the throne as he looked away. Y/n shrugging as she walked away, running a hand through her hair as she bent behind the bar placing the tray away then placed her hands on the bar as she waited for more orders. Eric's eyes on her each time she interacted with others, human's all looking her up and down before looking at Ginger in her leather bra and underwear confused. Y/n slamming her hand down with a toothy grin, tilting her head as she waited for the order, the human's always clearing their throat before ordering. Pam placed her hand on the back of the throne as she followed Eric's line of sight, Y/n shaking a cocktail as she poured a beer, looking between the customers as she placed the beer and took the tip, the cocktail finished shaking as she poured it and added a little umbrella.
"Can you just fuck her already and be done with this? You know she wants you." Eric hummed as he waved his hand, Pam rolling her eyes as she left, snapping at a human as they tried to get near her. As the club began to fill more, more desperate humans entered and Eric became increasingly more annoyed as Y/n's pockets filled with tips and both human's and vampires hung around the bar. This was a daily occurrence when she worked, he would never watch the bar when she wasn't there but when she was it felt like the bar was always busy, always filled with pathetic humans wanting to fuck the bartenders. Y/n rolled her eyes as she placed a beer in front of the same man for the fifth time in 30 minutes, Ginger had swapped with Mike who only came to work to pick up drunk girls who wanted to sleep with a vampire and instead left with Mike because he was wearing black eyeliner. Mike grinned at Y/n as he leant against the bar, Y/n rolling her eyes as she smiled at a woman and handed her a beer.
"So Y/n, when are me and you going to finally get rid of this tension?" Y/n ignored him as she grabbed a true blood out the microwave and placed it on a tray, and walked away from the bar towards Eric. Mike scowling as she walked away, Eric smirking as he watched her approach and place the true blood down, collected his old one but not walking away as she looked towards Mike.
"Need some company?" Y/n leaned against the throne, Eric smirking as he looked at her.
"I am thirsty." Y/n rolled her eyes, pushing off the throne and crossing her arms.
"I know i'm irresistible but i'm less of a snack girl and more of a long term commitment girl, so maybe change the approach and you'll get somewhere one day." Eric chuckled as he watched Y/n walk away, watching Mike smirk as she approached making Eric glare as the human flirted with Y/n. Y/n brushing him off as she kept serving customers, Eric looking away as a human approached him on their knees begging for his attention. Y/n watching Eric as the man crawled towards him, reaching his foot to place a kiss before Eric kicked him across the room, Y/n wincing as the man hit the side of the bar and dropped to the floor. Blood dripping from his head before a pretty vampire came up to him, her smile full of fangs as she guided him into the toilets for probably mediocre sex and lots of feeding, Y/n looked back at Eric lost in her thoughts until he met her eyes and she rushed to look away with a blush.
Y/n wiped down the bar as Mike filed out the drunk and lonely customers, picking up a few girls as he hurried them to the exit, Y/n rolling her eyes as he sent her a wink leaving her to do the cleaning up and left the club. Sighing she kept wiping everything down and placing cups away, everyone gone as she put on gloves and walked around picking up anything off the floors of value to put in the lost and found behind the bar. Cleaners would be in soon to deep clean and remove any blood or other bodily fluids Y/n would rather never have to touch, dropping cards, wallets and ID's into the box she shoved it under the bar and pushed her hair out her face. 5am, an hour until the sun would come up, Y/n did her last checks before popping her head into Eric's office as he sat typing away on his phone. Lifting his head and nodding at the chair as Y/n closed the door behind her and dropped into the chair.
"I need you to come in at 9 tonight, Ginger was almost drained so can't open." Y/n brought one leg up to hold as she sucked in a breath worried as she scratched the back of her head.
"I can't make it in for 9, i have plans at 8:30 and won't be available until probably 10." Eric's eyes snapped up as he put down his phone and leaned forward, he knew her schedule, knew when she met up with friends and everything he could know outside of work. She didn't have any plans.
"Cancel them." Y/n tapped her fingers on her leg as she looked down, trying to think of anything other than the truth.
"I can't." Eric leaned back, an unimpressed look on his face as he stared at Y/n.
"Why not?" Y/n let out an annoyed breath as she looked at Eric, fiddling with her nails as she once again dropped her eyes.
"I have a date, i can't cancel on him again." Eric's eyes darkened, his mind focusing 'again', so this hadn't been a spur of the moment date, this was planned. "Too bad. I need you...here." Y/n bit her lip as she shook her head and stood, not wanting to anger Eric as he had a habit of flying off the handle and breaking things which she'd then have to clean up.
"Sorry Eric, i'll try to be in for 10 since i'm not scheduled until 12 to help." Eric wanted to push her against the wall and make her cancel the date, delete his number and forget her existed instead he let her leave as he crushed his phone once the door closed. Pam entering a few moments later with a smirk as she looked at the crushed phone in his hand.
"Plot twist." Pam said as she laughed and pulled a phone out his desk drawer, handing it to Eric as he glared at the door.
Eric woke up angry, the sun barely gone as he stood in the club, the clock just turning 9:30 as he looked around, Y/n had 30 minutes to arrive before he found her and dragged her back. Y/n arrived a few minutes before 10, in a short black dress, heels in her hand as she closed the door. Eric's arms crossed as he watched her pull on her trainers and tie up her hair, pulling a bag from her back as she looked through it and scowled before sighing and chucking it behind the bar. Eric sat on his throne, very few people inside the club except for drunks and barely of age girls who thought it was edgy to come to Fangtasia on their birthday, Y/n grabbed an apron tying it around her waist, the dress low cut and reaching mid thigh as she smiled and began taking orders. The girls all ordering the vampire inspired cocktails and sitting next Eric as they gossiped about him, his eyes only on Y/n as she handed out beers, her lips stained red and eyes glittery as she looked towards him. An hour into her a shift a man in a button down shirt came in, Eric seeing the slight red stain on his lips as he held a small black bag and a wide smile as he walked towards the bar, Y/n's eyes widening as she saw him. Rushing out from the bar, telling Ginger she'd be a moment before grabbing his arm and pushing him into a corner as she looked around.
"What the hell are you doing here?" The man chuckled and held up her bag making Y/n go red as she grabbed it mumbling out an apology, the man pushing a strand of hair behind her ear with a smile whilst Y/n tried not to cringe. She'd only accepted a date with him because Sookie kept badgering her, she'd tried to give him a kiss goodnight on his cheek but he'd turned his head at the last moment and tried to make out with her.
"Thanks but you could have left it with Sookie you didn't need to bring it in." The man gave her a charming smile as he moved to kiss her, Y/n's widening before she squeaked out feeling the air change around her as well as a firm chest on her back and large hand on her waist.
"Who is this Y/n?" Y/n wanted to shrivel up and die as she looked at Eric, his eyes only on the man as he stared down at him.
"James." Y/n responded, James smirking at Eric, Eric still glaring at him as he tried not to sneer, tightening his hand on Y/n's waist as she felt her face heat up.
"You must be the boss who made her come in early and cut our date short." Y/n looked at James like she wanted to punch him, pleading with the gods to not have a fight between Eric and James because James can't keep his damn mouth shut. As Y/n thought she let her eyes move to his lips where he had a slight red stain making her eyes widen and panic set in as she pulled Eric's hand off her waist and moved out from between them with a awkward smile. Looking around for help as she spotted Pam who only smirked and took a drink from her glass, watching the scene unfold.
"Well James it was lovely seeing you again but i have to get back to work, not getting paid to sit around so. Bye, have a nice drive." Y/n tried to pull James away but he was still smirking at Eric, before bringing his thumb to his lip and wiping away the red turning to Y/n.
"Oops, looks like your lipstick stained babe." Y/n clenched her fist as she pushed him towards the exit, James going for another kiss but Y/n quickly turned her cheek and said goodbye. Mumbling curse words under her breath as she walked back towards the bar, Eric standing in her way as she let out a sigh and looked up at him.
"Can i just get back to work and you can deduct the time wasted from my pay cheque please? I should have just come in at 9 and saved myself the damn hassle." Y/n mumbled the last part to herself and moved to pass Eric when he grabbed her and pulled her into the office, Y/n's eyes wide as she panicked. The door closing behind them as he pushed her towards the desk, Y/n stumbling and turning as she began to babble.
"I'm sorry, i made him drop me two streets away and i didn't realise i'd left my purse, trust me i did not want him com-" Y/n let out a squeak as Eric pushed her against the desk kissing her, his hands on her waist as he hoisted her up and stood between her legs, Y/n barely able to catch her breath as he pulled back and nipped at her neck. His hands moving to her thighs as he pushed up her dress and greedily grabbed at the exposed skin.
"You are mine." Y/n whined as he dragged her thighs closer, her hands on his arms as she leaned her head back feeling his teeth scrape along her pulse. "Say it." Eric pulled back to grasp at her chin, Y/n nodding as he moved to graze his lips on hers, his eyes demanding her to speak as she tried to make her brain work.
"I'm yours, fuck Eric, i'm yours now please kiss me." Eric smirked as he kissed her, wanting to remove any part of that man from her, caressing her cheek as he held her tightly to him. Y/n grabbing at his arms as she pulled him closer, submitting to him as she opened her mouth and moaned into the kiss. Eric parting from her and stepping back, Y/n's eyes blown and lips smudged as she pulled down her dress and bit her lip. Eric smirking as he wiped his lips feeling the stain of the lipstick, leaning down to pull her chin and place another kiss on her lips as Y/n melted into him.
"If he tries to talk to you, touch you or looks at you again i will rip his arm off and beat him to death with it." Y/n gulped as she nodded, still in a dazed state after the kiss, Eric taking the chance to kiss her again before pulling her off the desk.
"Now get back to work." Y/n nodded again afraid of her own voice, receiving a light hit to her butt as she walked past, a squeak coming from her as she hurried to bar wiping at her lips as she quickly began serving drinks. Eric sitting on his throne with a smirk, lips tinted red as he watched her, waiting until it got busy to curl his finger as Y/n hurried through the crowd. Her eyes wide as he held out his hand, Y/n's eyes furrowing as she took it before being pulled into his lap, her body quickly manipulated to sit across his legs, his hand on her thigh as he ran it up and down with a smirk.
"Much better." Eric pulled Y/n into a kiss, undoing her apron and throwing it into the crowd before relaxing back and smirking to himself as Y/n tried to climate to her new situation.

I came to the realization recently that I'm completely alone in this world. Not physically, but on a spiritual level. Completely isolated, not by choice. But this is the qadr of Allah and part of my test in this dunya. It's not easy to remain steadfast when it's just you. And you have so many outside forces trying to drag you down. Then you also have to fight the war within yourself. It can get exhausting, and there will be days, when you feel like you have lost the fight living in the darkness that surrounds you. But Alhamdulillah, it is Allah who gives us strength to carry on even when we are alone. Who guides us back to light. I'm still amazed how Allah guided me. I could have been like everyone else around me, lost in the world. We can sit and compare our journey with everyone else, but we haven't all had the same opportunities. And we need to make the most of what Allah has given us. And be grateful for every blessing. Especially when it comes to our tawheed. I no longer live my life like I have a backup plan. I'm in this alone and I know it. I have no other choice but to strive for my akhirah. I have to put in the work, and give it my all. To strive to earn the pleasure and love of my Lord, because once I'm gone I can't rely on anyone to remember me, to pray for me. Allah is sufficient for us and he is the best disposer of affairs. Once you truly understand this, everything thrown at you in life becomes bearable. If you take care of your affairs with Allah, He will take care of you. You don't need to be a scholar to become someone in the eyes of Allah. You just have to be true and sincere. Many of us are sinful slaves; but the difference is in those who repent and are remorseful. Who strive for the cause of Allah even when things get difficult because they know that their reward is with Allah, and nothing in this world will ever compare

A ribbon corset has been on my list to make for a good few years now. In 2020 I was full steam ahead to make a Helga Sinclair (Atlantis) cosplay. Life, pandemic, work, and endless distractions means we’re still not quite there yet, but in dribs and drabs I’m tackling elements of the costume as I’m still sitting on the majority of the materials.
This was when when I was in the depths of being very taken with making costumes from the skin out; fit, silhouette and sharp clean lines are my priority when making and where I find great satisfaction. To achieve a perfect shape, you need the perfect structure to build on.
Playing with undergarments creates further opportunity to explore character and the setting, historical or fictional, in a fun intimate way. Fabric choices, actual garment choices, shooting for a silhouette that is easily drawn but harder to achieve in the flesh. This led to me deciding that Helga would need a full set of pseudo-historical undergarments.
With references to the Kaiser, the overall steampunk aesthetic, and the silhouettes featured in the Washington DC-set opening scenes, Atlantis is clearly set in the early 1910s before the outbreak of World War I. Helga's design, however, drew heavily on Hollywood starlets of the '30's and '40's, most notably Veronica Lake and her career making hair. Withn the film, Helga remained highly individual, and was exclusively animated at Disney's French Studio by Japanese animator Yoshimichi Tamura for maximum sex appeal that Burbank animators apparently just can't get right.

This gave me a lovely big window of around 30 years to play and pick and choose from for possible undergarments which led me to: the ribbon corset.
Ribbon corsets emerged alongside sports and 'health' corsets at the turn of the twentieth century. These developed out of a growing engagement with sports and exercise in the leisure classes, the burgeoning Dress Reform movement that advocated the abandonment of the corset. Particularly in the case of the pretty ribbon corset there was also the influence of the late Victorian aesthetic movement that favoured loose, diaphonous romantic garments.
These corsets sat under the bust and had boning at the centre front, back and sides and no more and rested on the high hip. This allowed maximum movement for the active lady, gently supporting the torso in the fashionable flat fronted shaped with little restircution. The body of the corset was otherwise was made up, as in the name, of strips of ribbon.

When looking for discussion of how to construct one of these, all pointers led to Sidney Eileen's perfectly detailed tutorial, which I do recommend reading through. To my eye it is a very modern approach that I didn't quite agree with so I used it as a jumping off point along with the patterns in Corsets & Crinolines, and Corsets - Historical Patterns and Techniques.
To draft up the pattern was very simple: I marked out my desired waist measure, then measured up my centre front and centre back lengths (averaged out from the various patterns in my references compared against myself). I then used my ribbon - 50mm jacquard - to map out my body layout.

When it came time to construct I realised that my ribbon - so abstractly bought years ago - just didn't have the body to take this structure. Much too flimsy, much too synthetic. Fortunately I had a 50mm green grosgain in large quantity in my ribbon drawer. Given the merc-for-hire miliatry drab favoured by Helga, I thought the green alongside the pretty shell coloured floral made a lovely character juxtaposition.
I mounted my jacquard onto the grosgrain, creating a nice delicate border. If you look closely you'll see that actually there are too shades of green grosgrain here as I was about a metre shy of my preferred colour, but i figured it was close enough and minimally to just fake through.
These newly formed ribbons were laid out on my pattern, stitched carrfully together and then tacked all over to stop any irritating movement when working.

The boned panels - side, back and front - were two layers of herrinbone couil, trimmed with grosgrain and covered with main ribbon. The ribbon panels were first stitched to one layer of coutil, as you would with any garment. The ribbons were then quilted neatly and vertically across the width of the coutil panel to make sure that they are entirely secured. This was repeated for all panels; the side panel has two layers of quilte ribbon as a result.
As no extant example that I have seen to date has binding on these boned panels - naturally, it would add bulk and distract from the clean lines of ribbons - I decided that this would mean that I would sandwich and hem my boned panels for security. Each boned panel had its grosgrain trim and top ribbon tacked in placed, the the second layer of coutil was stitched and turned to the inside, folding the quilted ribbon very neatly inside. Boning was then inserted from the side and stitched into place rather than inserted into channels.

A lovely ivory powder-coated busk, and stitched over eyelets and Helga's vaguely turn of the century ribbon corset is all done!

I saw the Reddit drama. Please explain why Drakgo is a more interesting ship than KimRon.
first, thanks for the ask! second, whoaaaaaaa i wouldn't presume to label one ship more interesting than another. some people will find ships interesting, others won't.
i'll give a diff example. in my other current hyperfixation, soul eater, my friend adores Ship A while i'm all about Ship B. her ship IS interesting to me! i think those chars are the most shippable in the show, they're basically canon w/o PDA, and they are deeply complex both as individual chars and as a couple.
they're just... not the ones i'm hyperfixated on. doesn't make them uninteresting.
what makes a person's brain and heart grab onto one ship and not another? who can say.
a lack of personal interest in a ship does not make it objectively uninteresting, or worse... and a ship having way more attention than another in fandom doesn't objectively make that ship more interesting, or better.
CAN a person make canonical objective arguments for or against ships? certainly.
let's just grab characters from KP to use as example. Bonnie and Brick. canonically a couple for more than one episode! we do not get a lot of canon info onscreen for them, so most of the interest in them would have to come from fan creations. compare to Kim and Ron, who have infinitely more screentime together, infinitely more individual character development than Bonnie and Brick both as individuals and as a couple...
one could argue that Kim/Ron is more interesting than Brick/Bonnie. there's more to grab from the canon at least. but if a person wants to draw/write/talk at length about Brick/Bonnie? why not!
no reason to be hating on any ship. if it's not your ship, then just...don't engage?? especially if you're against said ship.
now me, personally, i find Drakgo more interesting than Kim/Ron. (altho recent convo with @creatorping got my Kim/Ron juices flowing again). Drakgo just appeal to me more as characters, with their gritty backgrounds, a lot more unknowns to explore, the challenge of two villains developing a mutual trusting relationship so they can have a happily ever after... that just grabs my mind and heart more than the perfect girl and her adorkable boyfriend. it doesn't mean Kim and Ron aren't interesting, cuz ohhhhh they are! mostly post-canon for me because...who ARE they, after high school?? who is Kim other than the student who saves the world? what's she gonna do with her life? and what is Ron gonna do? he absolutely can't go to the same college as her, and she can't ditch a good opportunity to go to a community college with him... my hang-up has always been that Kim wasn't given enough individual development onscreen to do anything interesting with her post-canon. but aforementioned convo with Ping changed my mind, heheh. 😏
in any case, the point... one ship isn't more or less interesting. one ship isn't better or worse than another. it's us, the viewer, who either will or won't be interested.
so as i've always said.... ship and let ship. don't like? don't interact. don't hate on someone else's ships or headcanons or POVs... (reddit...)
and, that's not the same thing as discourse. discussing characters, discussing points of view, interpretations... sharing various headcanons... with willing parties who want to enter into that conversation! THAT is a major part of fandom! but it's all in how one goes about it. and! should people come to disagree about interpretations of characters, also fine!
i think the issue arises when people start to act like... my interpretation is correct OR, my interpretation is the only valid one. when people get up on that horse, that's where the problems arise... it can be tough if you feel like you're the only person WITH a certain POV, but... again, if the folks you're chatting with aren't into it, then find other people. i'm in that boat with some soul eater headcanons, but, that's okay. i don't need to convince everyone else in the fandom in order rto enjoy my thoughts. i'll still talk about them, but, not with the idea of telling anyone my view is the only view. that's the antithesis of what fandom is about. i'll talk about them because i enjoy talking about them, to like-minded folk, and on my own blog which is what a blog is for.
and, idk why it shows up so often in the KP fandom, especially the Drakgo side, that people can't simply say "hey i have this headcanon!" and someone respond with "oh that's neat!" and just. happily co-exist. everyone creating their things, sharing their things. and people will like what they like, as they always have, in every fandom. and if they don't like someone's idea, that's fine too!
but it's not worth fighting about?? it never is! it's just not that important. it's fandom. it's fun. it's our escape. if one feels SO strongly against a concept, or ship, or whatever.... then you don't interact with it. you don't make it your mission to disprove the other person. you don't actively seek out opportunities to hate on a point of view you dislike. that's not how fandom is supposed to be. find your people, and chill with them.
let's all be positive in the various fandom spaces.
i hadn't intended that to be such a rant, but...well, there you have it. sorry it probably was not what you wanted to hear, but yeah. thanks again for the ask!!
