is rafe every toxic or mean to shy!reader?
i think so.. maybe in the beginning when he's not as trusting yet and still like opening up to the idea that he has a girl who is completely devoted to him and not playing him or sneaking around... walk w me for this idea its a little stupid but its the best i could think of
Tumblr media
you'd been trying your best to be a good girlfriend to rafe—you weren't used to him, the kind of boy he was and life he had. you were more sheltered, a little too trusting when someone was nice and too eager to please.
so he gets a little carried away the first time he gets a glimmer of suspicion. because really, you thought it was harmless, wanting to get to know more about your boyfriend. you thought his closest friends would have answers for you, since his sister never anything nice to say.
you didn't like that—it was beginning to bother you more and more. the rafe that was your boyfriend was nothing like the rafe that sarah always described, and you didn't like how you felt about that either. maybe there was a hidden part of rafe that you hadn't been exposed to yet.
not that you wanted to be exposed to it anyways. you much preferred rafe how he was with you—always gentle and nice, not even raising his voice since you didn't react so well to that. and you, being who you are, knew what you needed to do. keep being a perfect girlfriend for rafe so he would never have to yell at you or get mad.
maybe it's a little fucked up. you don't spend too much time thinking about it, maybe because you don't really care. until you're forced to care, that is.
asking topper and kelce for their numbers seemed innocent to you, seemed like nothing at all. you wanted to know what to get rafe—his birthday was coming up and two whole months of dating him. you figured this was the best way to get some answers without appearing too suspicious—rafe would notice immediately if you went and started having entire conversations with his two friends.
unfortunately you're too sweet for your own good—always have been, always will be. you had smiled shyly and politely thanked them for their numbers, but nervously held off on actually asking them for advice until just today. and the two of them, rafe's friends as they are, are still boys. stupid, immature ones—you knew that much from sarah at least.
rafe picks you up for your date at seven on the dot. normally he comes to the door to get you but this time he doesn't—it doesn't matter since you were waiting by the window anyways. he leans over to open the passenger seat door from the inside for you and you beam up at him.
if you were a little less elated—you might have realized rafe always gets out to open the door for you. he helps you up because his truck is so high and you're a little unsteady in the heels you wear for dates.
you've got it tucked in your little purse—a nice watch, in a little red box. it's vintage and pretty and perfect for rafe. you had put topper and kelce in a groupchat this morning and asked what they thought something nice for rafe would be, something he didn't already have in spades.
you just want to wait until after dinner to surprise him with it—but looking at your silent boyfriend drive to the restaurant, you wonder if you'll get the chance.
he doesn't have to say anything, you can tell something's wrong. your smiling greeting had been met with a quiet hey, with no nickname attached at the end. there was no compliment on your new dress or how pretty your hair looked. and worst of all, he hadn't even smiled in your direction since you got in the car.
you must have done something. rafe never took out his bad moods on you. you just don't know what you did.
rafe parks at the restaurant, and you look straight ahead at the sun setting in the clouds, and then down at your lap instead of at your boyfriend, waiting. waiting for him to say something, waiting to figure out what's gone wrong.
neither of you say anything for what feels like ages. rafe sighs—heavy and with a distinctness, like he's annoyed and angry and though he's not saying it, that it's at you.
"c'mon. we're gonna miss our reservation." you look back at him with parted lips and big eyes. if you were a little more confident, more sure of yourself and not so reliant on others for approval, you would shoot back a witty yet cutting remark. it even burns on your tongue-is that really what you care about right now?
but you're not that girl, never have been and never will be.
"rafe, i'm sorry," you finally say, said with such sincerity you don't think you've ever meant a sentence more. "whatever i did, i'm sorry. you're so upset.. and i don't want to ruin dinner-"
"you apologizin' because you know what you did was wrong? or because you want me to stop bein' mad? which one?"
you're a little dumbfounded—you don't think rafe's ever spoken to you like this the whole time you've know him. and you still don't know what you did.
"no, i.. i don't know what i did. i'm just sorry."
it's pathetic, almost. but you are—hopelessly, pathetically in love. so much so you'll apologize without a reason, that you'll do anything to make your boyfriend stop being upset.
"kid, i-i know we haven't been dating that long, but you can't just go around flirting with my friends. it's just not-"
you don't even hear the end of his sentence. flirting? with rafe's friends? you could barely bring yourself to flirt with rafe, much less his friends.
"when did i do that?" you ask, your made-up face twisted in confusion and concern. "rafe, i would never. ew. no offense to them, i guess. but-"
"so you didn't ask kelce and top for their numbers? both of them?"
"is that you think? that i was flirting?" your spine straightens in your seat, cheeks aflame. "is that what they said to you?" suddenly rafe's concerns mean very little—had you given kelce and topper such an impression?
this was bad. this was very bad. that was sarah's ex-boyfriend, and you certainly didn't want your best friend thinking you were flirting with him. or kelce—who you were trying to get set up with your other friend.
"they said you asked for their numbers. that shit's not fun to hear from your friends, kid. s'fucking embarrassing-"
your face feels hotter, if possible. your cheeks are wet with tears, eyes burning with more. it is embarrassing. you should have known that, should have thought it through. of course rafe's friends told him, you hadn't told them to keep it a secret. swallowing painfully, you try to look back at rafe again but it just makes you want to sob.
"i'm sorry rafe," you say, hating how it comes out in between hiccups with fresh tears. "i-i was just-"
"just what?" rafe's tone makes you want to cry even harder. you rummage through your little purse—stupidly realizing you hadn't even brought a wallet, just your lipgloss and rafe's gift. you take out the tiny box, handing it to rafe.
"i-i just wanted to ask them their opinion. what to get you f-for our two months," you hiccup again, watching rafe stare down at the box. "i'm sorry. i'm really sorry, i would never-"
"shit. kid, i-they didn't tell me any of that."
"i just asked today. and i-i didn't tell them to keep it a secret, so it's my fault and i'm really sorry."
you probably sound pathetic—you certainly feel that way. you wouldn't be surprised if rafe turned the car around and dropped you back home.
"hey. hey. look at me. m'sorry, kid. i didn't know any of that. and this is a really sweet gift, okay? i like it. i love it."
you keep blinking back at rafe, unable to do anything else. you still feel stupid. rafe leans over, wiping away some your tears with his hand. you rest your head against his hand when it does it.
"are you still mad?" you ask quietly, still unsure what the answer will be.
"no, baby, m'not bad. i'm sorry."
"okay. i'm sorry too." you stay silent still, unsure what to say. this is the first time you've ever been in a situation like this with rafe. "i think we missed our reservation."
"yeah kid. pizza and ice cream it is."
"no. you can't wear your new watch for pizza and ice cream."
"sure i can. m'never taking this off."

“Do you think he would though?”
All Jay could do was lock eyes with you at your question. This was normal for the two of you at parties.
“YN…” He sighs, lifting the beer can to his lips, “You know how I feel about this.”
You pouted at your best friend, clenching the empty beer can in your hand, and hearing the crack of the tin above the music.
You wouldn’t call yourself a loser, but you weren’t exactly below a loser or even more than a loser. You were just normal. Completely and simply normal. Jay though? Has been the most popular guy since kindergarten.
The two of you grew up together as neighbors, both being the only children in your families, it was only natural you both grew attached to each other. Jay was popular from the moment you both started school. And as the years went on it only got worse. As a child, you figured your popularity would come along with being best friends with Jay, mostly since homeboy was the captain on every sports team he played on and was even top of your class as well. Not to mention he was the head guitar player for the school's band growing up as well. Jay had multiple reasons under his belt for being popular. But you were always in his shadow. The most people knew of you was that you lived next door to him and were one of his best friends. That’s it. Nothing more. Nothing less.
And it infuriated you.
Nothing you did put you in the spotlight. People barely remembered your name or who you were until you were standing right next to him. At first, you thought it was just kids being mean, but as the years went on, you slowly learned that maybe it was just you. Someone who was forgettable.
Jay always got pissed off with you anytime you would mention how forgettable you were, “You’re literally my BEST FRIEND, YN!” he’d snapped at you, “You’re everything but forgettable.”
Sure, you had some boys knocking on your door for attention, and you’d give them it. But your popularity never went anywhere. It’s not like you even wanted the popularity for the attention really, you just wanted to feel like an equal with Jay. To have everyone remember your name and who you were. To not be well…barely above a loser.
“Jay,” you turned your body fully towards him, lifting your knee to your chest and taking a hold of the burnt orange colored couch with your free hand, “It’s a yes or no question!”
Jay chugged down the rest of his beer and shifted his eyes from you over to Heeseung, the guy you are basically begging him to answer on if he’d be down to fuck you. Heeseung was a friend of Jay’s and also one of the most popular guys at your college. Heeseung has a reputation for fucking any girl who comes his way. Jay knew it was only a matter of time before you resorted to trying to get Heeseung to spread your legs.
Heeseung was probably six or seven drinks in at this party and was currently getting touchy with another girl in the kitchen. Eyes completely locked on her.
Jay looked back at you with a slight smirk, “He looks busy.”
You rolled your eyes, “That’s not what I'm asking.”
Jay looked down at the coffee table in front of him, tucking his bottom lip between his teeth. Why did this matter so much to you? Chasing after popular guys at the college just to get your name out there. Jay never understood why you wanted this popularity. If anything, Jay wished he was in your position. To be normal and not have multiple females at every party he attends jumping his bones.
And quite frankly, Jay was tired of having this conversation with you.
“I’m not answering this,” he said with a wave of his hand, “You know I don’t like the idea of you throwing yourself at random guys just for attention.”
You tossed the empty beer can on the table and clenched your fist, starting to get up from the couch, “Fuck you then, if you feel that way. I'll try to seduce him myself.” This is how every conversation about this topic goes with Jay. Him always shutting you down. But you've had enough of it.
And apparently, so did Jay.
Because you were down flat on your back on the couch with him hovering over you.
“J-Jay,” you glanced your eyes around the room, “W-what are you doing?”
He didn’t answer you, taking your arms and pinning them above your head, his lips now attached to your neck. Your body reacted in a way you weren’t expecting it to. You tilted your head to the side, giving him more access to you. Your heart rate increased, and the thoughts not circulating in your brain scared you.
“Jay,” you called his name again, shifting yourself as best as you could away from his lips.
One of his hands left your wrist and took your jaw between his fingers, “This is what you wanted, wasn’t it?” Jay hovered his lips above yours, barely brushing them together and sliding his free hand down to the button of your jeans, “To be fucked like a slut publicly. All to be popular.”
He was angry. Frustrated. Pissed at every man in this room that you’ve tried to pull into bed with you. Pissed at you. This was the only way he knew to not only set you straight but also get his feelings out of the way.
He pressed his lips to yours in the same motion of unbuttoning your jeans, his cold fingers slipping down your panties and rubbing at your folds, humming against your lips, “Already so wet? Just from me barely touching you?”
“Shut up,” you snapped, lifting yourself to connect your lips back together. Jay’s cock twitched at your sudden action and pushed two fingers into your cunt, groaning at how perfectly you clenched around him. How perfectly you feel.
It amazed him how unfazed you were right now. Jay was sure you’d push him off or snap at him for even making a move on you. The two of you were best friends after all, and never once crossed this line until well, now. Jay could blame it on the alcohol he’s consumed. Could even blame it on all that you’ve had to drink as well.
But it was all further from the truth.
Jay pushed his fingers in you faster and parted your lips with his tongue, wrapping the muscle around yours. He was getting so drunk off your taste. Was so turned on over the fact you’re letting him do this to you in the middle of a public college party. You surprised yourself. Your whole plan was just to get Heeseung to make out with you in front of everyone and then drag him off into an empty bedroom or even the bathroom. The last thing you expected was your best friend to be knuckled deep in your pussy and his tongue down your throat.
And by god with the way he was working his fingers in and out of you, you knew your orgasm was fast approaching. As if he already knew how to work your body before even touching you.
The truth…he’s only ever dreamed of how it would feel to do something like this with you. He pulled his fingers from your cunt and looped them at your jeans and pushed them down and leaving your mouth, “You’ve made your rounds asking every single fuck boy possible,” he scoffed, flying his hands to undo his belt, jeans button and zipper, “To fuck you like a slut all for popularity.” The truth…the truth the truth the truth, “Asked everyone but me.”
Your eyes widened at his words, a new feeling sinking into your heart. He sounded angry, his face showed hints of jealousy as his eyes pierced into you and his hands worked at shoving his pants and boxers down past his hips, setting his cock free.
It surprised you how willingly Jay was to do this. How he didn’t seem to care that he was about to fuck you on a couch in the middle of some random party with everyone around to witness it. But it’s what you wanted, right?
Jay lined his tip to your entrance and wasted no time pushing himself in, flinging his head back when it kissed your cervix, “Fuck, YN,” he hissed, taking your wrists back in his hands to pin against the leather of the couch. Jay was already seeing stars at how perfectly you felt wrapped around him. How good you felt. Like your cunt was made for him and him only.
He fucked into you hard, keeping his face tucked perfectly in the crook of your neck. You tried to keep your moans down, eyes wandering the living room to see if anyone was watching.
“Why are you so nervous now, baby?” he whispered in your ear, fucking into you harder, “You wanted this,” You clenched your fists, your nails digging into your calm to focus on that pain instead of the pleasure he was giving you down south, “Everyone fucks at parties. Moan for me, YN. Let everyone see how good I’m giving it to you.”
He bit down into your neck and you couldn’t hold back anymore. Your lips parted and a loud wet moan escaped. Jay smirked at the sound, darting his eyes over to Heeseung and loving the way his friend's jaw was dropped and eyes locked onto the two of you.
“See that, baby?” he cooed, “All eyes are on you now,” you barely tilted your head to the side, seeing Heeseung and the female at his side both staring at you and Jay. Seeing the eyes of random partygoers staring as they walked past the living with their eyes wide. Heeseung finally closed his mouth and tucked his lips between his teeth, making Jay spiral, “See, now he fucking wants you,” you looked back at Jay, seeing the fire burning within him, “No one is allowed to have you, understand?”
He slid his hands down to your hips, squeezing them tightly as he fucked into you faster and harder, forcing more moans to leave your lips.
“Asked everyone but me to fucked you,” he scoffed, “Never once did you think to ask me. Would have done it with no second thoughts.” The truth the truth the truth, “I’ve dreamed of having you underneath me like this, wrapped around my cock so perfectly. I’ve been so in love with you since we were kids. Kids, YN.” his anger burned hotter as he unleashed all his emotions, “Never gave a fuck how unpopular you were. Never cared that no one knew who you were because I wanted you all to myself,” he pressed his forehead to yours, brushing his lips to yours as he moans out from the pleasure, “But you? You just wanted to be popular.”
You pulled your wrists from his hands and tangled your fingers in his hair, pushing him down to you to connect your lips together and wrapping your legs over his hips, “I only care about you right now, Seongie. Who cares about being popular.”
Your words had his heart doing flips. He finally got to you after so long. He smiled and looked back at Heeseung, feeling even more excited knowing Heeseung was still very much watching. It only pushed Jay to fuck into you faster. Harder. To kiss you harder. To bite your lip and pull and squeeze your hips harder to force you to arch your back at his every touch and pull. He loved knowing that another man was getting hard just by watching him fuck you. Loved seeing said man thirst for you knowing he wouldn’t be able to have you.
You belonged to him. Always had. And always would. Because Jay isn’t letting you go after this.
He kissed down your jaw and to your neck, “I’m fixing to cum, my love,” he whispered, placing opened-mouthed kisses to your skin, feeling the way you clench around him, “And I know you’re at your limit too.”
You nodded, tanging your fingers more into his dark hair and pulling slightly, “I want to cum with you.”
He chuckled, sliding one hand to your thigh and the other cupping your face, “All you had to do was ask,” and he pressed his lips to yours, moaning into your mouth as he gave one final thrust and squeezed the plush of your thigh. You both were filled with so much ecstasy as you came together. Breathing in each other's breaths.
Once his head stopped spinning, Jay quickly pulled his jacket from his body and covered your lower halves, “I don’t need Heeseung over there seeing any more than he already has.”
You giggled at him, sitting yourself up on your elbows, “You didn’t seem to care that I was exposed earlier.”
Jay pinched your jaw between his fingers, “Not my fault you wanted to act like such a slut earlier.”
You bit at your lips and gave him pleading eyes. Loving the way he smirked down at you.
“You got your wish though, my love,” he said, pulling out of you and keeping the jacket in place as he pulled his jeans back up over his hips and helped you pull yours up too, “To be popular. Everyone will be talking about us now.”
You pulled at his shirt collar and kissed him tenderly. Never did you ever think your childhood best friend would be in this position with you. To be so in love with you. Deep down you felt the same and didn’t want to admit it to yourself. And it only took you acting on your said wish.
“At least we both will be the talk.”
Jay just chuckles against your lips, “Only come to me when you want a good fuck, ya? You’re mine.”

originally posted by iholdwhatican
It took four minutes and 36 seconds of Art and Patrick being alone outside before the anxiety became too much. Your dress was too tight against your skin and the chatter of the guests rattled in your skull. Your mind replayed the anger on Art’s face over and over, convinced that he’d direct it at you the moment he came back in. And if you were being honest, you couldn’t stop thinking about that kiss.
Your blood boiled with the ferocity of it, and an ache in your core begged for another taste.
Another three minutes and 18 seconds passed while you downed half of your second glass of wine. You made conversation with a few people who caught your eye, making sure all the food and drink were up to par. Not that you really could care about that right now. Your mind was a jumble of thoughts about the two men on the balcony.
Art, Patrick, Art, Patrick, Art, Patrick, Art, Patrick
“You look like you’re gonna puke.”
For the second time that night, Patrick Zweig’s voice made you jump.
You looked at him, catching sight of that damned smirk that made your stomach flip, and furrowed your brows. One quick scan of the room came up empty for your husband, forcing the anxiety in your chest to worsen.
“Where’s Art?” You asked, not missing the way your voice wobbled slightly.
“Relax.” Patrick responded, resting a hand on your shoulder, “He went to the kitchen, I think. I didn’t kill him. And he didn’t run for the hills either.”
You decided not to comment on how easily he’d read your worries without you saying anything. For some reason, you were an open book to him.
A deep sigh left you. You licked your lips anxiously- which immediately caused Patrick’s eyes to fall on your mouth.
“What happened out there?”
The man gave you a shrug, letting his hand fall back to his side, “Nothing, really. We just talked for a bit. He told me I could stay, as long as I stopped flirting with you.”
“So does that mean you’re going to stop?” The idea made you slightly unhappy, which in turn filled you with guilt. Why were you so excited by his flirtations when you had a wonderful, loving husband who treated you like a queen?
But then Patrick grinned, and you knew the answer before he said it, “Well, I’ve never been one to do what I’m told.”
A smile grew over your lips, and you tried to hide it with an eye roll, “Why don’t you mingle? Try some food. I’m going to find my husband.”
He didn’t miss the enunciation you put on ‘my husband’, and you didn’t miss the way his eyes darkened as you said it. You didn’t give it time to linger, instead turning away and moving towards the kitchen.
You knew the look Patrick had in his eyes. You’d seen it a dozen times in Art’s. On the court, over a board game, in all sorts of scenarios. And every time, even now, the look sent a chill down your spine.
That expression was clear, resolute competition.
Just as Patrick had said, you found Art in the kitchen. With his back to you, you had a perfect view of his tense shoulders and hanging head as he poured himself a glass of water. He was all wound up, and you knew it was your fault. Now it was your responsibility to fix it.
You stepped up behind him, sliding a hand between his shoulder blades. He didn’t hesitate to lean into the touch, a subconscious reaction. He knew it was you just by the feel of your hand on him. And, even if he might be furious, he still found comfort in it.
“Hey…” You breathed, leaning to the side to meet his gaze. Art looked at you over his shoulder, a half-smile quirking his lips up, “How are you doing?”
“Hey.” He responded, turning and sliding his hands over your hips. Your chest pressed against his as he leaned down and placed a kiss on your hairline. Then he just lingered there, breathing in your smell, “I honestly don’t know. I just- it was so weird to see him.”
“Yeah, of course it was.” Your words reached him in a soft, comforting tone. The guilt of putting your perfect, doting husband in this situation was enough to make you feel like you had barbed wire around your neck. You had to pay penance- somehow. You rubbed your hand in circles over his back, “I’m sorry, sundrop. I don’t know what I was thinking when I invited him.”
Sundrop. A nickname that went way back to the early days of your relationship. Art was an energetic puppy dog with a halo of golden curls and a smile that made your insides feel hot. He was what you pictured a personification of the sun to be, hence the pet name. He pretended not to like it, but his eyes always sparkled a certain way when you said it.
Art pulled his head away to peer down into your eyes, his own pensive and confused, “No, baby, don’t be sorry. It was a great fucking surprise. Just… a surprise.”
You shook your head. He was so fucking good to you, “You’re allowed to be mad at me.”
“Mad? At you?” In one quick motion, he picked you up and set you on the counter. Your legs opened for him without hesitation, allowing him to slot right in between them, “I don’t think that’s possible.”
You fought the blush rising in your cheeks and rolled your eyes, “You think too highly of me.”
“No. Never.” He replied instantly. He kissed your chin. Then your jaw. Then your neck. Then down your throat, “As far as I’m concerned, you’re God.”
“Art-” You argued, though you weren’t sure what for. You tilted your neck back and offered yourself up to him.
“I could spend my life on my knees for you and be happy.” His words were muffled as he mouthed at your neck, sending shivers down your spine. This, combined with the kiss from earlier, was making you ache with need. You were half-tempted to end the party early and take your pretty husband to bed.
You bit your lip when he ran his tongue over a sensitive spot above your collarbone. If he wasn’t in between them, you’d be squeezing your thighs together.
When Art pulled away, his eyes had darkened. Dilated pupils and heavy breaths told you all you needed to know. He was just as fucking horny as you were right now. His hands held your hips tighter.
“Do you think we’d be left alone long enough for me to show you how much I mean it?” He asked. It was almost as if he were begging. As if he couldn’t bear the idea of doing anything other than dropping to his knees and devouring you.
And God, when he looked at you like that, you had no choice but to say yes.
Unfortunately, fate intervened, and you were kept from making a scene at your husband’s birthday party.
“Hey, you two, quit snogging and come entertain us!” One of Art’s tennis friends called, sticking their head into the kitchen. The big grin on their face told you it was just teasing, but you still felt your face burning with embarrassment.
“It’s my birthday, let me do what I want.” Art jeered right back, lifting you off the counter and back onto your own two feet. You laughed airily at the comment, feeling more light-headed than anything.
Before following his friend back into the action, he whispered a quick, “Later, okay?” to you. And then he left you standing in the kitchen- touch-starved, foggy-headed, and excruciatingly aroused.
It was then that you realized you didn’t even get to ask him what happened with Patrick.
Upon re-entering the party, you found yourself taking note of two things- or rather, two people. One, Art- conversing with some friends from the foundation with a big grin on his face. Two, Patrick- having his fill of finger foods from the refreshment table. He was alone. And though you tried to fight it, you found yourself gravitating towards him.
“Do they not have food where you’re from?” You teased, falling into place at his side. Your gaze slid over the spread before flicking up to his face.
You’d caught him mid-bite, and he attempted to swallow quickly and regain his composure. Something warmed slightly in your chest. Endearing.
“Well, I’m kinda… in between places right now.” He explained, tongue stuck in his cheek to clear out residual bits of food, “And there’s never stuff as good as this.”
You let the compliment slide away, instead focusing on his more troubling response, “Are you homeless?”
“What? No.” He chuckled, as if the question were preposterous, “I go all over for tennis. It’s just easier to stay on the move.”
You raised an eyebrow, “And on off-season?”
Something in his expression darkened, only for a moment, and then he was back to cocky smiles and overwhelming confidence, “I’m too busy to care about that. And what’s it matter to you, anyway?”
“I’d like to think I’m a good person.” You said, plucking a snack off the table and popping it into your mouth. You chewed it halfway before continuing, “And a good person worries if they think someone they care about isn’t doing well.”
Patrick grinned at you for five long seconds. And it took him actually saying the words to realize where you’d slipped up.
“You care about me?”
Shit. You had not meant to say that. Why was this man so damn good at getting every little thought in your head to spill out of your mouth?
“If caring about you means I don’t want you sleeping under a bridge somewhere, then sure.”
“Okay, I would never let it get that far-”
“I wanna help.”
He blinked, “Help how?” Briefly, very briefly, you thought of your bed. Your comfortable, spacious bed, perfect for three individuals. You could picture it- you, safe and sound and nestled between the two men. Art, your lovely, obedient husband on one side, letting himself love and be loved. And Patrick on the other side, nice and cozy with a roof over his head and a full belly.
The image flashed in an instant, and you were left with hollow, heavy guilt. You swallowed.
“How much do you need?”
“Huh?” You rolled your eyes at him, “How much money do you need? To keep you afloat for the next little while. And I’ll send you home tonight with leftovers.”
Patrick let the words wash over him, slowly smiling as they did. He took a step towards you, close enough that one tiny shove would have your bodies pressed together. You could smell him, all sweat and cigarettes and woodsy cologne that made your head spin. You’d been wound up all night, and this was absolutely not helping.
“You gonna write me a check? Use your hard-earned money to get a practical stranger a hotel for a couple nights?” He murmured, heavy on the charm, “What would your husband think?”
He knew he’d gotten under your skin. He knew what he was doing. He was fucking enjoying this.
You tried to hold your ground, looking up at him through your lashes, “It’s his money, actually. He makes sure I never have to work unless I want to.”
“Guess he treats you pretty well. And look how you’re taking advantage of it.” His hand lay on the table next to yours, his fingertips nearly brushing the skin of your wrist. How bad would it be if you closed the gap?
You bit your lip, “You’re allowed to turn me down.”
“I don’t think I’d ever turn you down, Mrs. Donaldson.”
Something about that title, something about the way he said it, made your blood run hot and cold at the same time. It reminded you of the myths of sirens. Beautiful monsters of the sea that used their voices to bring others to their demise. Talking to Patrick had that same type of allure, and the sense of danger.
“Then tell me what you need.”
“What do you think I need?”
Oh, you could think of a few things. But you could also feel a pair of eyes on you, and you knew exactly who they belonged to. Part of you wanted to tempt him, see if you could get another reaction like out on the balcony. However, you quickly shot the idea down. Not right now, not in the middle of a crowded party.
Lips curving into an innocent smile, you pushed yourself a step back from him, “I think you need a nice place to sleep. And a few good meals. And maybe a hug.”
The sudden switch-up took Patrick by surprise, but he handled it smoothly and responded only a beat later, “You’re offering?”
“At least for the first two.” You didn’t know what you’d do if you were in his arms. With the way you were feeling now, with two glasses of wine in your system, your boundaries were getting blurrier and blurrier. How humiliating.
His bottom lip jutted out into a pout. Which unfortunately dragged your gaze right down to his mouth. It took you a moment too long to meet his eyes again.
“What, we can’t hug? Don’t you consider me a friend?”
“I do.” You shrugged, tucking loose hair behind your ear, “Maybe I’m just not a touchy person.”
A lie. You knew it, and you could tell by the look on his face that he knew it too.
“Yeah.” He smirked, sounding the opposite of sincere, “Art’s wife isn’t a touchy person. Sure.”
You needed a cold shower. Or to go have some one-on-one time with your vibrator. Or maybe move to the seaside and spend your days going mad in a lighthouse. You weren’t sure. All you knew was how increasingly hot you were feeling.
“Speaking of Art, go talk to him. Try to make amends. Meet some of his friends.” You suggested, glancing over at your husband. He wasn’t watching you anymore, at least not straight on. But he had a radar when it came to you, and he was very diligent in keeping tabs. No matter what.
“You trying to get rid of me?” Patrick asked lightly. No heat behind the words.
“Oh, yes.” You admitted, placing your hands on his shoulders and pointing him towards Art, “Find me again before you leave and I’ll have your check.”
“Yes, ma’am.” He grinned at you over his shoulder, sending a wink before sauntering off.
Finally, you felt like you could actually get a breath in your lungs.
The party had ended. Guests went home, Patrick got his check and headed to a hotel you recommended, and you and your partner left all the cleanup for the morning. You barely gave it a second glance as you went up to bed with him, your hand held tightly in his.
Art fucked you like a starving man that night. You barely got into the room before his lips were plastered on your skin, his hands unzipping your dress with quick precision. He was usually much more reserved, but something about tonight had made him ravenous. And he wasn’t the only one.
You ended up on his lap; bare chests pressed together, skin sweaty and breaths heavy as you rolled your hips into him. His hands clutched your thighs, keeping you close, fingers pressing into the flesh. You pulled on his hair and his head immediately fell back. As if he were a puppet for you to position and use however you wanted. His eyes looked up at you with a fire in them you’d never seen before, but the adoration, the reverence, was all too familiar.
Your name fell from his lips over and over again like a prayer. The single word weaved with threads of devotion, possessiveness, desire. A song joined in chorus by whatever nonsensical phrase entered his head. I love you, so perfect, all mine, please, please, please.
He was claiming you. Marking his territory in his own special way. It didn’t matter that Patrick wasn’t here to see it, or that he probably would never even know. As long as Art could tell himself that you were his, he’d be okay. Jealousy was a good look on him.
You could feel your core tighten with each and every movement of his hips against you. You weren’t going to last much longer. But by the look in your husband’s eyes, neither was he.
Parted lips claimed yours in a messy kiss, tongue sliding into your mouth and exploring every open space. Then you were being flipped over; back pressed into the mattress as Art rocked into you with reckless abandon. He intertwined his fingers with yours and pinned your hands above your head without ever breaking the kiss.
You lasted about thirty seconds. Finally, the tension in you snapped and your orgasm washed over you in waves, leaving you limp and trembling. Art finished only a moment later. You could feel him pulsing inside of you as the aftershocks slowly faded away. The room reeked of sweat and sex and your head was spinning.
Art, your precious, dutiful man, rested his head on your chest as he attempted to catch his breath. You could feel the tickle of his lips kissing your skin, the soft squeeze of his hands on your hips. You ran a hand through his damp hair, fingers massaging his scalp.
“I love you.” He murmured against your ribs, right over your thundering heart. He said it like he couldn’t quite believe he was allowed, like he didn’t believe you were here, that you were his.
Dark hair and cigarette smoke flashed through your mind. Almost-touching hands and paper checks.
“I love you.” You responded, kissing his hairline, “Happy Birthday, baby.”
The only response you got was a tired, happy sound and another kiss to your collarbone. A quick adjustment later and the two of you were tucked under the blankets, your head on Art’s chest and his arm around you. Neither of you cared enough to clean yourselves up or to put pajamas on. Art was already softly snoring next to you, and you could feel your eyelids getting heavy.
As you listened to the baddump of his heart, a strange thought flitted through your mind. You’d just had the best sex of your life, and it was because of Patrick. You weren’t the only one who’d been thinking of him while in the throes of passion. The notion made something strange twinge in your gut.
And then, like he’d somehow read your mind, your phone lit up with a text.
Patrick Zweig: You free for lunch tomorrow?

it's heartbreaking that suguru geto doesn't accept your love. you didn't come from a family of sorcerers, so in his eyes, you got lucky with a powerful technique. you got lucky that you didn't get swallowed up by the unfamiliar world of jujutsu.
it's embarrassing, really. you pining over someone who doesn't really respect you. he remembers when he found out that you didn't come from a family of sorcerers. he thought it was pathetic that you hid it from them.
but you couldn't care because his smile was so pretty, and his voice was so kind even when his words were laced with pure hatred. you ignored his judgemental glances and the way he shrugged you off. if it were up to him, he would have never chosen to bring you into his inner circle. but you were one of the strongest. and satoru loved having you around.
perhaps satoru just simply loved you. although his love was never simple, was it? he looked at you like you were the only beauty in the world, like you were far more perfect than perfection itself. that alone was almost nauseating. he didn't care that you didn't come from an important clan because you were so strong and you held your own.
even when fushiguro toji brought you to the brink of death, satoru thought you were strong. suguru, on the other hand, had not. even if he didn't say it to your face, he found other ways to let you know he blamed you for riko's death. you were supposed to be as strong as him and satoru, and somehow, you ended up on deaths door, and fushiguro toji barely hurt. god, did he hate you.
he hated how you smiled when they came to visit you in your hospital bed with bandages wrapped around your body. he hated the way tears filled your eyes when you saw apologized for not doing your job. he loathed the way satoru and shoko hugged you, telling you they were just glad you were alive. could they not see that you didn't need their pity?
what he hated even more was how you were the only one who seemed to care when he started losing weight and the bags under his eyes grew deeper, darker. he hated your soft and kind voice, asking, "Are you okay, Suguru?"
"....huh?" he turned to you with eyes void of any sort of emotion. but that was soon replaced with disdain. he looked away, going back to stare at the short grass of the sparring field.
you hesitantly scooted closer to him. "you haven't been yourself.... i know satoru said you're losing weight, but -"
"it's none of your business," he spat out your name in a way that made you want to hide. his voice no longer sounded like a soothing breeze. there was something different in his eyes, something so painfilled that you yourself felt your soul crumble. "shouldn't you be training with shoko or flirting with satoru?"
"satoru? what... suguru, i dont- look, doesn't matter," you turned to face him better with a sigh. "i just want to make sure you're okay. you haven't been okay, and i want to help you -"
"well i dont need you fucking help," he said with finality, walking away from you, his cursed energy oozing off of him darkly. it was like his energy was attacking you without him knowing. you could feel his darkness- no- his pain in every fibre and crevice of his being.
that was the last time you saw suguru geto for the next eight years. he went on a mission and never came back. you wished that it had surprised you when you found out that he had killed a village of innocent people. but it wasn't. in the time you had after your last conversation, you saw how much hatred was behind his eyes. it was your first heartbreak. the heartbreak of your first love.

Excuse me please but can you feed me with more of 1 boyfriend 3 pervs please I am hungry, mother father parent I am hungry can you feed me please🙏
(Sorry, I didn’t found if you go by mother, father or parent, so I put them all)
1 boyfriend, 3 perverts pt.2
boyfriend!remus x reader x james x sirius x peter
This had me giggling, but here you go!! @familyshow-orisit also wanted a pt.2 so here it is! Warnings: SMUT!! poly!marauders smut, oral (f!receiving), exhibitionism kind of, hint of possessive remus 1.5k wc
The second time your boyfriend's best mates joined in an intimate moment, it had been after directly after your transfiguration N.E.W.T and Remus wasted no time in pulling you across the school from the exam hall up to his dorm, having raced his other dorm mates so he could have dibs on the dorm. You had skipped past the rushed kisses and shy giggles to the wandering hands, Remus immediately pushing you onto your torso down on the bed, preparing you for his cock with his skilled fingers, pushing you towards your first orgasm.
You had been on the verge of cumming, Remus thrusting into you quickly from the back, hands tightly gripping your hips, listening closely to the muffled moans coming from where you had your face pressed against the mattress, when three people burst into the dorm. Any sign of James, Sirius and Peter's conversation died down, their gaze fixed on where you were getting rammed by your boyfriend. The door loudly shut behind them, and Remus finally trailed his gaze up to meet theirs, the open curtains of his four poster bed exposing every inch of your naked body. Remus huffed, noticing how they stared directly at your ass, and moved his grip from your hips to grope the fat of your ass, thrusting deeper into you.
"Rem!" You screamed, grabbing fistfuls of the sheets, completely unaware of your guests. "Yeah, say my name sweetheart." Remus encouraged with a smirk, one hand moving from your ass to the front of your torso, trailing down to your cunt until he found your clit, playing with it lightly to pull you to your orgasm. "Fuck!" You moaned, back arching even more, finally letting the tight knot in your belly unravel, cumming all over your boyfriend's cock. Remus groaned in return at the feeling of your pussy clenching on his cock, and he thrusted into you twice more before letting himself cum in your cunt, the warm spurts of cum shooting into you.
Remus moved with you, lowering himself so his cock stayed in you as you laid yourself down flat on your stomach on his mattress with a sigh, head resting on your forearm. "Fuck, Rem. Don't pull out yet." You begged, hand clasping around one of his wrists. Remus grinned in pride, pressing kisses on your back while trying to hold himself up on his forearms so he doesn't crush you. "Want to welcome our audience?" He finally muttered in your ear, watching curiously for your reaction when you lifted your head up. Your loud gasp filled the room, and you quickly turned your head back to look back and forth between your boyfriend and his best mates. "How long have you three been in here?" You asked, whimpering mid sentence as Remus pulled out of you, shifting to sit next to you.
"Not-Not- just now." James said, throwing his hands up defensively, eyes following your every more as you sat up next to your boyfriend. "Sorry sweetheart. Should've yelled at them, but I was too engrossed in you." Remus muttered, leaning down to press a wet kiss on your cheek. Your face turned red at his comment, and you replied "It's okay. I don't really mind it. I like your friends." The room went completely quiet at your commentary, and you innocently looked up at the three boys facing you, jaws slack in shock.
"You know, I would have thought one of them would have volunteered to clean me up by now." You state suggestively, turning to face your boyfriend. He grinned, watching you as three hands went up unanimously, a loud "Me, please!" Filling the room's silence. "Well James does have such good manners doesn't he?" Teased Remus, and you nodded, adding "Well I'm sure that's not the only thing he's good at. Right, Jamie?" You cock your head to the side, grinning as James nods quickly, the two boys beside him groaning in disappointment. The muscular boy rushed towards you, dropping to his knees in front of you, splaying his hands out on your thighs.
Remus watched closely as he walked over to the bathroom, wrapping a towel around his hips before leaning against the doorframe to watch his best mate's head dive between his girlfriend of over a year's thighs. You moaned the instant James' mouth connected with your pussy, immediately licking up you and your boyfriend's orgasms like a starved man. Your hands came up to his hair, gripping the messy curls and using them to push his head deeper in your cunt. James' nose nudged your clit and you whined, arching your back so your chest pushes forward, tits begging for attention.
"Y/n." You head snapped up at the call of your name, immediately making eye contact with Sirius' desperate gaze. "Sirius." You whispered back, watching at he took slow steps towards you. When he was finally close enough, he took your face in his hands, waiting just a moment long enough for you to find Remus' eyes in the spacious dorm before his lips connected with yours. You shut your eyes with a sigh, hips bucking into James' face and Sirius' tongue invaded your moment, lacing with yours in a poisonous kiss.
When Sirius pulled away from you, a long string of saliva connecting your lips, he climbed on the bed behind you, hands immediately occupied by your tits. You whined, throwing your head back on Sirius's shoulder when James' thumb grazed your clit, shifting focus to please you rather than clean you up. Remus and Peter both approached you at the same time, your eyes widening at the sight of the tent in Peter's trousers. You moved your attention to him, remembering he had been the only one not to cum last time you had paid the boys a visit. You tugged Peter's trousers down, letting his cock spring out, and immediately wrapping your hand around his hard dick.
You moaned at the same time he did, moving your gaze to Remus', just in time for you to feel his hand on the back of your head, guiding your head towards his. You squeezed your legs around James' head, a slight overstimulation at the feeling on his fingers on your clit and Sirius' on your tits, stroking Peter's cock quicker. "Such a slut." Remus whispered amusedly before he slammed his lips against yours, a load moan escaping your lips when his tongue aggressively made its way into your mouth, engaging you in a passionate kiss full of tongue and saliva.
Crying out, your free hand came up to cup your boyfriend's jaw, the other one keeping Peter panting from beside you. You moved your hand up to the tip of Peter's dick, arching your back against Sirius's chest while trying to keep up with Remus's kisses, possessive and fast against your lips. Both of Remus's hands cupped your face, impossibly deepening the kiss and you gasped, your pussy clenching down on James' fingers, your clit beginning to feel overstimulated from him sucking on it. You moaned loudly mid-kiss with Remus, thighs starting to shake and hips bucking in James's face uncontrollably. You were going to cum soon.
Remus pulled away from you, the separation only amplifying the sound of your moans in the closed rooms. Remus's hands caressed your face, looking at you sympathetically, well aware that you were going to cum. "Fuck, Jamesie! You moaned, using your free hand to push him deeper into you once more. Peter's hips bucked up into your hand at your slowing movements, whining desperately. Your hand only loosened up around his cock, but one of Sirius' hands replaced it, speeding up on Peter's cock, who moaned loudly at the replacement. Remus leaned down to press kisses on your neck, hand trailing down to pinch at the nipple freed by Sirius's hand.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck!" You moaned, squeezing your thighs tightly and throwing your head back on Sirius's shoulder, wrist wrapping tightly around your boyfriend's wrist as your eyes shut and you came again, the power of your orgasm literally making you shiver in pleasure. James rode you through your orgasm, fingers slowing down inside you and taking his mouth off your clit to ease you from the stimulation. When you opened your eyes, a loud moan filled the space and spurts of cum shot your way, filling your tits with white ropes of cum. Your eyes widened and jaw went slack, chest heaving while trying to catch your breath. "Shit, shit, I'm sorry." Peter panicked, looking around for tissues.
"Calm down Peter, we've all seen a little cum before." Joked Remus, and you giggled, toying with James' hair, who still kneeled on the floor in front of you. The boy looked up at you and you grinned at him before suddenly remembering your boyfriend, grabbing him by the wrist and dragging him down to your level to give him a kiss.
"By the way Sirius, you pull that shit again and I'm gonna hex you."

What happens when a conversation overhead on a baby monitor blows her world apart?
Tumblr media
Monday Night Raw
Two hours earlier
Nobody’s POV
“What do you mean I’m suspended?!” Tia screamed as the COO of WWE Paul Levesque cleared his throat.
“I didn’t stutter Tia, you’re outta control. I have given you chance after chance. Last week you almost injured Bayley, you’ve been acting irrational lately and I just think you need some time off to regroup.” Paul said sternly as Tia seemed to be becoming unglued.
“You can’t take this away from me,” Tia pleaded as Tom walked and went to stand next to Paul.
“Tia, your actions have taken this opportunity away from you,” he said as Tia began looking around in a panic.
“This is a mistake,” she whispered feeling her dreams slipping away.
“Then what is this I hear you were harassing Jey tonight?”
“What! I ain’t harassed him. We know each other on a personal level. Did Jey tell you that because if he did, he’s lying!” Tia screamed as Paul shook his head.
“No, Jey didn’t tell me, Tom did. He saw the whole thing. Jey actually tried to play off the seriousness of it but I’m not. You need to get some help Tia,” he said sternly as Tia frowned at Tom.
“Why are you in my business Tom? Look, I don’t need no help, I’m fine.”
“Tia, even after Jey told you to stay away from him you purposely followed him. You just Ignited a confrontation with your sister as he once again tried to deescalate the situation.” Tom said as Tia scoffed at him.
“So, you kept instigating it?” Paul asked as Tia refused to answer.
“Yes, she did and all with a smile on her face.”
“Tom shut up!” Tia screamed as Paul stood up and adjusted his tie.
“Nobody that works here will be sexually harassed or harassed in general. We are up from under Vince’s thumb, and everyone will be treated equally and have a safe work environment,” Paul said as Tia was seething.
“I ain’t did nothing,” Tia protested.
“Sixty days Tia and you will be on the NXT brand when you return. I really hope you can turn this around because another incident and your gone.”
“You can’t do this to me,” Tia cried as Paul sighed, walking over to try to calm her down.
“Tia, use this time to get yourself together. Actions have consequences and I can’t put my talent at risk. This time of reflection will give you and Roman a chance to work out your custody issues as well,” Paul said trying to be sympathetic.
“Yes sir,” she whispered as Paul walked out leaving her alone in her thoughts.
“I’m losing everything…It’s all her fault,” Tia cried as running out of the room bypassing people in the hall, just wanting to get her stuff and leave. Her mother’s words haunting her.
“Tia you dead wrong for what you did and you’re going to reap most of all.”
As she reached the women’s locker room her phone beeped, it was her Where’s My iPhone app. It was alerting her to Roman’s location being close by and he had been there for about an hour.
One night after one of their rendezvous while Roman took a shower, Tia linked his phone to hers to share his location but had hers turned off so he didn’t know she was keeping up with his whereabouts.
“Oh, so have me served custody papers today, then hopped on your little jet trying to tell Ms. Perfect and win her back, huh,” Tia says talking to herself plugging in the address on her phone.
“You can’t get rid of me Roman…Never.”

Present Time
Kara’s Condo
Kara’s POV
“Tia, put the gun down,” I pleaded as Roman looked back at me once again, but I was focused on Tia.
“Sorry to interrupt your lover’s quarrel. Wow ten total years together, five of it marital bliss came down to this because of lil old me, huh,” Tia gloated picking up our divorce papers off the table.
“Tia-”
“Kara, it’s going to be ok,” Roman said as I tried not to let my fear show but this fool was in my house pointing a gun.
“Don’t look at her Roman!” Tia screamed as Roman looked back at her.
“Get outta her Kara,” Roman said as I ran back towards the kitchen .
“Get back here or I’ll shoot him.. Do you want to be the reason Logan has no father?” Tia hissed as I stilled in fear having almost made it to the kitchen entrance.
“She ain’t got nothing to do wit this Tia, we can just leave together,” Roman pleaded.
“It has everything to do with her. Turn around bitch!” she hissed as I gritted my teeth trying to hold my tongue as I slowly turned around putting my hands in the air.
“Come on what you tryin’ to do?” Roman asked as Tia chuckled.
“What I should have did years ago…Put her out of her misery..That’ll hit you and Jey right where you stand. Take away the person you both love, it would hurt you, wouldn’t it?" Tia asked, waving the gun at Roman.
“It would, but what about us..If you hurt Kara we can’t be together, tell her Kara,” Roman said as I tried to get my brain to catch up and play along.
“I’m not with Roman, it doesn’t have to go down like this. You have so much going for you,” I said trying to reason with her as she pointed the gun at me, her hand unsteady as I jumped back.
“Aye, take it easy, look me Tia,” Roman said as she seemed to becoming more unhinged by the second.
“Paul suspended me for improper conduct against your little boyfriend for sixty days! One of the higher ups saw it and told. I’m off the main roster, now I gotta to report to NXT after my suspension is over,” she said waving the gun at me.
“What does that have to do with me? You did what you did, Jey didn’t do anything to you.”
“Everything! It has everything to do with you!” Tia screamed as I flinched. “Then this motherfucker here is pining away for you and sending flowers and shit!" She screamed picking up the vase of flowers throwing it at the wall.”
“Tia, take that up with me. You really mad at me, not Kara,” Roman said as she pointed the gun back at him.
“Oh, I was coming around to you, having me SERVED with custody papers just before I leave for work! Really Roman, trying to sue me for sole custody of a child I already gave to you, just to not pay me what you owe me,” Tia said strangely calm, her hand no longer shaking as she held the gun on Roman.
“We can talk about it Tia, just let Kara go,” Roman said as she chuckled.
“Your precious Kara…Always in the way Kara! Hell, you owe me that 50 million I asked for! I gave you something she couldn’t, the baby you always wanted!” she cried pointing the gun back at me as Roman moved in way.
“Move Roman! Let me end this!” She yelled as he refused to move.
“You’re right, Tia, you gave me Logan, our beautiful baby girl and I’m thankful,” Roman said as she nodded, tears streaming down her face.
“I did, and you know I could have loved you better than her. I want to hear her say it because she knows its true!” she cried as Roman nodded.
“She will,” he whispered as I felt sick to my stomach. Survival was the name of the game and we both had too much to live for.
“Your right, you could have loved him better. You got pregnant and wanted to be a family with Roman, but I was in the way,” I cried as Roman looked back at me as we silently communicated with each other.
“My own kid hates me; I feel nothing for her!” Tia cried as I took as Roman took a step closer. “Tia, you still got time to bond with her, I can help you,” he pleaded as she seemed to be letting down her defense.
“Kara, your life should have been mine. I was even willing to settle for Jey, but you just had to find out about Roman and me. Then you made Jey leave me….I ain’t got nobody,” she whimpered as a strangled sob escaped her lips.
“Tia, Kara left so we could be together, stuff just didn’t work out,” Roman whispered as she pointed the gun at his head as I screamed.
“Tia, no!!”
“You didn’t give us a chance because you wanted her, Roman! You wanted her!..... Jey wanted her!” She screamed as we stood in scared silence unsure as to what Tia was going to do next. That was until I saw out the corner of my eye the front door opening.
“Kara, I got your food, twins ran up the street to the store for your ginger ale, and some snacks,” Trin said walking in the door on her phone oblivious as to what was going on as Tia turned the gun on her.
“Trin Run!!” I yelled as Roman, and I tried to get the gun from her as  Trin panicked, quickly running back out the door, dropping everything she had in her hands.
“Help! Help us! She has a gun!” I heard her scream as we continued to tussle over the gun.
“Run Kara!” Roman yelled as I ran towards the kitchen to the back door my heart racing as I heard a shot, then silence.
As I opened the door, I heard another shot and instant pain shot through chest as I collapsed to the floor writhing in pain, gasping for air.
It hurt so bad I couldn’t catch my breath, hearing footsteps I tried to pull myself through the open back door but couldn’t move, I was in too much pain.
“Damn, you can’t even die right, can you?” I faintly heard Tia whisper as she turned me over. Her smile chilling me to the core as I silently cried in pain.
“I want to be the last thing you see,” she taunted as I coughed trying to take a deep breath, the pain unimaginable, rendering me speechless. I tried to lift up my head to look in the living room, but I couldn’t.
“Oh, you lookin’ for Roman, huh…..He’s ok, when we fell he hit his head on the end of the table and the gun went off,” She said as I groaned in pain.
“I should have shot him though, all he had to do was love me. You caused this!” she screamed sitting on my chest as I tried to push her off.
“T- T-Tia,” I gasped as she turned my head mushing it against the floor as I cried in relief seeing the knife I had earlier on the floor.
Using the last of my strength, push her off of me, crawling to the knife and laying on it, praying she hadn’t seen it.
“Now is that anyway to treat your sister? You’re supposed to be your sister’s keeper, remember Kara? Remember how we use to say that when we were kids?” she asked kneeling beside me caressing my hair as groaned in agonizing pain.
T-Tia I groaned as she shushed me.
“We even started back saying it to each other when you found out I was pregnant with Logan. Remember how close we had got,” she said as I struggled to breathe through the pain as she grabbed my face, making me look at her. “Do you?!” She shouted.
“Yes,” I finally whispered as she smiled. “Well, now I want you to tell me again. Are you still your sister’s keeper Kara?” Tia asked as I cried out in pain as she pushed down on my back.
“I asked you a question! Are you still your sister’s keeper?!” Tia screamed, turning me over as I held a firm grip on the knife.
Before she could comprehend what was happening, I reached up and stabbed her in the stomach with what little strength I had left.
“Kara,” Tia gasped in disbelief holding the knife lodged in her stomach, looking down at the blood seeping through her shirt and then back at me.
“I’m not… My sister’s….. Keeper,” I whimpered as she smiled pulling the knife out of her stomach and dropping it on the floor beside us gasping in pain.
“Neither…. Am I,” she groaned, collapsing beside me as I finally gave in welcoming the darkness as I faintly heard Tia moaning beside me in pain.

Jey’s POV
“We got to hurry up I got a bad feeling Uce. Kara an Trin ain’t answering their phones,” I said we headed back in the swank gated community. As soon as we pulled in I heard sirens and saw an ambulance. Quickly, I pulled over as they flew past us.
“You right, something wrong, follow them,” Jimmy said as I tried to catch up to the ambulance. My heart dropping to my stomach as we turned down Kara’s street and saw the EMTs rushing inside her house.
“Aye, that’s Trin,” Jimmy said as I sped up seeing she was talking to a cop and was hysterical.
As I slammed on breaks behind the Ambulance, Jimmy hopped out of car running to Trin as I put the car in park.
“Trin what happened?” Jimmy asked as she ran into his arms.
“Tia had a gun! She almost shot me; I heard two shots! She killed Kara and Roman! They saved me and she killed them!” Trin cried hysterically as Jimmy took her in his arms trying to calm her down as I ran past them going inside.
“You can’t go in there the cop!” yelled as I ignored him. Nothing was going to stop me from getting to Kara.  In the living room, I saw one of the parametics working on Roman.
He was sitting on the floor as the paramedic tried to stop the bleeding from his head. Wait where did the other one go? Where’s Kara?
“John! I need some help in here! Dispatch, I got a female with a gunshot wound to the chest, the bullet seems to have gone straight through and another female with a stab wound to the abdomen. My gunshot victim isn’t breathing! We need more units and police backup!” he yelled.
“It’s not Kara…. It’s not Kara,” I whispered over and over slowly waking, past Roman not even caring what he was trying to tell me.
As I walked into the kitchen the air left my body as my worst fear had been confirmed seeing the paramedic performing CPR on Kara’s lifeless body.
“Kara,” I said in shock, walking closer to be sure my mind wasn’t playing tricks on me.
“Baby,” I whispered kneeling beside her as the other paramedic that was working on Roman, rushed in and began working on Tia.
I glanced at her as she smiled grunting in pain.
“She’s dead Jey,” she rasped as I looked back at Kara in disbelief.
“Look, if you going to be in here, I need your help,” the paramedic said as I nodded. “W-whatever you need,” I said has he guided my hand to Kara’s chest. “She’s losing a lot of blood I need to you apply pressure here with this towel,” he said as I followed his directions.
“What’s her name?” he asked as I tried to wrap my head around the fact Tia shot Kara, I almost didn’t hear him.
“Kara..Her names Kara ,please help her,” I whispered as he stopped compressions.
“Come on Kara, I need you to breathe for me, ok?” he encouraged tilting her head back and blowing air into her mouth.
“Please breath baby, we just getting started now. Come on breath Kara,” I cried not knowing if I was coming or going as I faintly heard the other paramedic talking to Tia.
“She’s dead right?” Tia gasped as I growled in frustration and anger.
“She ain’t dead! But you keep talkin’, you will be!” I hissed as she finally stopped talking. A few seconds later I heard the wheels on the gurney leaving the room.
“Yes, get her the fuck outta her before I kill her myself.”
“Kara breath,” I heard Roman whisper as I refused to look at him, focusing on Kara.
This ain’t it, I refuse to believe that. She’s gon’ be ok….
“Kara, come on breathe, we gotta a date remember. I’ll take you anywhere you wanna go baby, just breath,” I sniffed refusing to wipe my own tears knowing I would have to stop putting pressure on her wound.
I panicked even more as I the paramedic pulled out an AED machine and  began putting patches on Kara.
“When I say clear I need you to move, I’m going to try to jumpstart her heart…. 1, 2,3, Clear!” he shouted as I moved my hand and Kara’s chest lifted up in the air before becoming still again.
It was like I was watching myself outside my body as he began to count down again.
“Clear!” He shouted once again trying to shock Kara heart into rhythm but this time as I placed my hand back on her chest, I felt it rise and fall under my hand.
“I got her back! He yelled as released the breath I was holding leaning down kissing Kara on the temple
“Kara, its Josh…I love you so much…You hear me I’m here and I ain’t goin’ nowhere,” I reassured her before the other unit of paramedics came rushing in.
I moved out of the way to let them work. but still stood where I could see her. Everything was moving so fast after that point as I watched them get her stabilized and on the gurney.
“Dispatch, Let the hospital know we’re on the way, we need all hands-on deck. We should be your way in about seven minutes.”
“Calling now unit 7, have a safe ride.”
“I’m coming wit her,” I said as the paramedic nodded in understanding as we made our way through the living room.
“Jey, is she ok?” Roman asked as I looked at him like he was stupid as another a paramedic was helping him on a gurney.
“What do you think?! That crazy bitch shot her in the chest, and it’s all your fault because you couldn’t keep your dick in your pants,” I said not sparing him a glance following the Paramedics out with Kara.
“Jey, I’m sorry!” Roman yelled as I tuned him out.
All that mattered right now was Kara…I couldn’t lose her..Not now.
“Oh, my God Kara!” Trin screamed running over as they loaded Kara in the ambulance. “Take the car I left the keys in it,” I said watching them secure Kara in the back of the ambulance
“We right behind ya’ll Uce,” Jimmy said as I nodded hoping in the back of the ambulance holding Kara’s hand. “Aye, it’s me don’t check out on me yet, you hear me,” I whispered kissing her gently on the forehead as the paramedics continued to work.
The sirens wailing as we sped through traffic has me on edge. She had to be ok.. Looking out the back window I saw Jimmy speeding to keep up with us. Is all this really happening?
“You’re going to see a doctor and some nurses. They are going to take her straight to the OR and you won’t be able to go back with her but they will put you in a room in the ER until we know if she’s going to a regular room or ICU.”
“A’ight, they bout to take you for a minute Kara, but I’mma be right there when they bring you back to your room,” I reassured her as I felt her squeeze my hand as I cried in relief.
“Yea, let me know you hear me beautiful. I love you so much.”
Once we pulled up to the hospital everything moved so fast as the nurses and doctors met us at the ambulance. I felt helpless as they took Kara and rushed inside.
One of the nurses was nice enough to walk me to a room. I looked down at my white shirt and my hands stained with Kara’s blood and felt myself losing it. Going in the bathroom to the sink I  scrubbed my hands.
The sight of her blood washing down the drain is something I will never forget.
“Jey,are you in here. we’re here,” Trin said as I came out the bathroom and sat down as she Kneeled in front of me. It seemed like everything was catching up to me.
“She died on me, Trin,” I whispered as Trin looked at me in shock.
“What?”
“At the house… Her heart stopped.”
“Jey,” Trin whispered pulling me in her arms as I growled in frustration.  “Tia was laughin' sayin' she was dead,Trin” I whispered still in disbelief as Jimmy sat beside me and wrapped his arm around us both.
“But they got her back, we gotta focus on that,” he said as I looked up and Roman being wheeled into the room across the hall.
“Kara is fighting for her life and this motherfucker just got a bloody head. Now, I gotta call Kara’s mom-”
“They sent a unit to notify them, her parents know and are on the way.” Jimmy said as Trin wiped my tears.
“I’ll go see if there’s any updates,” Trin said as I nodded, letting her go as she got up and left.
“She says Roman and Kara saved her life,” Jimmy said as I nodded watching her go into Roman’s room.
“I know, I just can’t right think about all that right now.”
“We ain’t gotta say nothin’ Uce, just let me us be here for you,” Jimmy said as we sat in silence waiting for word on Kara.
---
Roman’s POV
“Mr. Reigns we want to keep you a couple days for observation, you have a concussion and I’m going to go put in the orders for a local you’re going to need stitches.”
“What about my wife Kara, she was brought in along with her sister.”
“Mr. reigns your wife is in surgery, and they are doing everything they can.”
“Ex wife-” Trin corrected as I sighed laying back on the bed.
“Trin, I know that…. Look are you ok? I asked as she nodded her head as the nurse left us alone.
“Yea, I’m ok..I just wanted to make sure you are ok and to tell you thank you. You and Kara saved my life.”
“You’re my family Trin, you know I love you.”
“I love you too. I called your mom, and she should be calling you in a bit. I had to calm her down, she was under the impression you went out to maybe clear your head after receiving the divorce papers but you all the way out here in Boston..Why?” she asked as I sighed.
“Trin it’s like I’m losing my mind, I saw Kara on Jey’s Instagram live and just went nuts. Next thing I know, I’m on my jet here trying to find out if they are in a relationship or not. The longer I looked around the house-”
“Looked around the house? I highly doub-” She started the words dying on her lips as she saw me drop my head in shame.
“Trin-”
“You were in the house when she got there!” Trin yelled as I rubbed my temples, knowing how bad it sounded.
“Trin, I was just going to talk to her, then I saw Jey’s shit in her room-”
“Roman, don’t even talk no more you pissin’ me off because you had no right doin’ no shit like that. Have you lost your fuckin’ mind?” Trin asked looking at me in pure disappointment.
“I know it’s insane Trin, but I just love her. We argued, she told me to leave and as I went to open the door there’s Tia standing there with a gun.”
“How the fuck did she know where Kara lived, did you tell her? Did you set this shit up so you could get custody of logan?” Trin asked firing off questions that really hurt me that she would think I would do something like that to Kara.
“No! She had my location; some shit she did to my phone apparently when I wasn’t around. She’s lost her mind Trin,” I said still not truly believing what had happened tonight.
“And so have you breaking into people’s homes and waiting for them in their bedroom,” she countered with her arms crossed as I sighed, knowing she was right.
“You right, I had lost my mind, but I damn sure found it when I opened that door and saw Tia with that gun.”
“Roman do you love Kara?” Trin asked as I felt offended by the question. Did she not see me earlier staring down the barrel of a gun to protect Kara?
“What kind of question is that. I would die for Kara, of course I love her. I just jumped at a gun to protect you because I love you too, I love all ya’ll,” I said as Trin nodded, seemingly in deep.
“We love you too, in spite of everything you’re going to always be family but in order for us all to begin healing… Like really heal…..You gotta make it right, and let it go Roman,” Trin pleaded as I felt as if I couldn’t breathe.
“I know,” I whispered overwhelmed because I knew she wasn’t saying it to hurt me, it was coming from a place of love.
I didn’t think I had that anymore from her or anyone in my family besides my mom, but guess I was wrong.
“If you love her…..Like truly love Kara like you say you do. Prove it… Let her go and let her be happy, so we can all move past this and try to be some kind of a family again,” Trin cried walking out of the room without another word.
I needed to let go but I don’t know how….But Trin was right, if I loved her, I needed to prove it.
“God, if you bring Kara through this…..I’ll do right…I’ll make it right, I swear,” I silently prayed as I felt the world on my shoulder because deep down I knew Jey was right.
I set this all in motion…Everything that happened was my fault.
----
Trin’s POV
Talking to Roman sucked the life out of me but I knew after what Jey had said earlier, I knew I needed to see one other person to see.
“Excuse me, is Tia Morris able to have visitors I’m her cousin,” I said as the nurse smiled. “Uh, for the moment, but the police are on the way to question her. I can let you see her though, she’s in room 11,” she said leading me to the dim light room.  I frowned quickly seeing Tia sleeping but played it off by smiling at the nurse as I saw her head over to wake up Tia.
“Oh, I’m just going to sit with her. You don’t have to wake her up. I know the cops are going to keep her busy with their questions,” I said as the nurse patted me on the shoulder. “Ok, I’ll leave you to it sweetie,” she whispered walking out and closing the door.
Walking over to the door behind her, I closed the curtain before slowly walking over to her bed as Tia slept.
This bitch in her sleeping peacefully and Kara’s in surgery fighting for her life.
Reaching above her head I got a pillow. Now I wasn’t gonna kill her, but she damn sure was going to feel the struggle to breathe like Kara did.
“Tia,” I whispered, as she moaned turning her head as I pushed the pillow over her face as she tried to push away.
Hearing the machine beeping fast, I pulled the pillow away as she gasped for air, the machine’s beeping returning to normal.
“What are you doing?” Tia coughed as I put the pillow over her face again as she helplessly tried to push against the pillow again, this time I released the pillow before the machine started beeping faster.
“You’re crazy,” Tia cried as I looked at her with disgust.
“I’m glad you realize that…..But I ain’t gon’ kill you…I just want you to feel how Kara felt as she laid lifeless on the ground beside you while you laughed,” I said remember Jey’s words, which made me even more angry.
Hysterical Trin was long gone now.
Grabbing her by the throat, I got in her face to make sure she heard me loud and clear.
“If you come near Kara, Jey, Jimmy, Logan or Roman again I will kill you. See you batshit crazy but you ain’t met real crazy yet, and I promise this ain’t what you want. I don’t take kindly when people fuck with my family,” I said calmly as Tia moaned in pain.
“Kara’s not your family,” she gasped as I slapped her before I could stop myself. I wanted to beat her ass, but I knew I couldn’t leave marks to give away what I had been doing in here.
Pushing her head against the pillow, I leaned over to whisper in her ear.
“You ain’t got a sister no more…She’s my sister, always have been. You don’t deserve her love or loyalty, or to even be in her presence,” I hissed as she groaned in pain as I pushed down on her stomach slightly, knowing it was causing her unimaginable pain.
“Trin, please.” Taa cried as I ignored her pleas.
“Trin please what? You want me to show you mercy? Did you show Kara mercy when you shot her, huh?” I whispered as she cried.
-----
Jey’s POV
“Uce, something ain’t right,” Jimmy said as I nodded in agreement.
“Yea, Trin been gone a minute.”
“I know she ducked out to see Roman, she had promised auntie she would look out for him, and for her just take care of Logan.”
“Let’s go see if she’s still across the way.” As we walked in and saw the room empty. We went to the nurse’s station.
“Excuse us, our cousin was in the room over there and he’s not there, is he ok?” Jimmy asked as the nurse smiled.
“Oh, he’s been transferred upstairs to a room, they are keeping him a few days,” she said as it dawned on me.
“Fuck,” I whispered as Jimmy looked at me.
“What?”
“Tia,” I whispered as Jimmy’s eyes bout popped out of his head in realization.
“Um, have you seen this woman,” I asked as Jimmy’s phone showed the nurse his screen saver.
“Sure, a real sweetie, said she wanted to see her cousin. I took her to room 11.”
“Um, thank you, we’ll just drop in for a second to see her too,” I said as Jimmy, and I tried to play it cool leaving the nurses station, but as soon as we hit the corner, we took off running towards Tia’s room.
Seeing the curtain closed, we rushed in and there was Trin sitting on the edge of the bed whispering something to Tia as she quietly sobbed.
“Trin let’s go baby, we been looking for you,” Jimmy said as Trin got up off the bed.
“They going to put you under the jail and if they don’t and you fake your way outta this….Just remember what I said Tia, and just know I don’t miss,” Trin said before walking past Jimmy and me.
“None of us were never here,” I said, as Tia nodded, wiping her tears as Jimmy and I left. As we rounded the hall, I saw two cops heading towards Tia’s room.
“Good, put her ass in jail,” I muttered going back into the room with Jimmy and Trin to wait to hear about Kara.
----
Five Hours Later
Jey’s POV
Trin and Jimmy had fallen asleep on the couch, but I still was wide awake. I couldn’t sleep until I knew how Kara was doing, the little updates from the nurses weren’t easing my fears at all.
Deciding to stretch my feet I walked into the hallway and was met by the doctor.
“Mr. Fatu we just got done about thirty minutes ago,” he said as I took in his appearance, he seemed worried. “Hey, how is she?” I asked almost afraid of the answer.
“She made it through surgery, but the next 72 hours are critical. We were able to stop the bleeding and get the rest of the bullet fragments out.”
“Thank God.”
“She’s a fighter, it was touch and go for a while but she made it through,” he said with a tired smile.
“Thank you so much for everything…..When can I see her?”
“You can see her now; they just took her to ICU. She’s very lucky, half an inch to the right it would have been fatal,” he said as I felt the tears coming. I could have lost her…
“Uh, let me get up my family so we can head dat way,” I whispered walking back to the room to wake up Jimmy and Trin.
The long walk and elevator ride quiet, as we made our way up to ICU floor. As we waited for them to buzz us in Trin reached over and gave me a hug.
“You go in first Jey… Just tell her we love her,” Trin said as I sighed truly thankful for her.
She acted fast, called 911 and got Kara help.
“I will sis, and thank you,” I whispered as she nodded. “No, tell Kara thank you for saving my life,” she whimpered as I rubbed her back.
“I’m going to let you tell her for yourself,” I said as she smiled at me wiping her tears before going to sit with Jimmy.
Walking through the hall I felt anxious I needed to see her. The first room I saw had a cop sitting on the outside of it with the door open.
Curiosity getting the better of me, I looked over and there was Tia asleep handcuffed to a bed.
“Kara’s room is over here, Mr. Fatu,” the doctor said beckoning me further down the hall.
I hated she had to be on the same floor as Tia but at least it was some space between them, but I didn’t want to take that chance.
“Doc, I know she’s not stable but after her parents get here and she becomes stable can she be transferred out to another hospital. The person that attacked her is in here and I don’t feel comfortable.”
“I’m one step ahead of you. Her sister will be transferred when she is stable enough. Until then she will have an officer on her at all times and will be handcuffed to the bed,” he said still not putting me at ease.
I didn’t want Kara anywhere near that crazy nut.
Walking in her room I wasn’t prepared to see her lying in that bed looking so helpless. I went to sit by her trying to be mindful of the wires taking her hand in mine.
“I’m back beautiful, just like I promised. Now about this date, where you wanna go,” I whispered kissing her hand praying she would open her eyes and talk to me.
No response, sighing I reached over and kissed her temple. “That’s ok we can talk later, just rest,” I whispered sitting back down in my chair laying my head on the bed just looking at her.  watching the rise and fall of her chest, just thankful she had made it through the surgery. A sudden moan from Kara almost startled me.
“Kara, you ok baby?” I asked as she whispered something, but I couldn’t make out what she was saying as she eyes fluttered open, then closed back again.
“Balcony picnic date,” she whispered a little louder as I laughed.
“Kara, of all the places I can take you and you want to have a picnic on my balcony in Pensacola.”
“Yes, that’s what I want,” she whispered opening her eyes to look at me as I kissed her hand.
“You can have anything you want loʻu loto,” I said as she gave me tired smiled, still having a hard time trying to keep her eyes open.
“Get some rest, I ain’t going nowhere, we can talk when you get up.”
“I have to tell you something first,” she said as I pulled the covers up a little trying to help her get as comfortable as she could considering the hell she had just been through.
“Ok….What you gotta tell me that can’t wait beautiful?” I asked sitting back in my chair just happy she was awake and was talking to me.
“I love too, Josh,” she whispered before closing her eyes and drifting off back to sleep as I finally allowed the tears to pour from my eyes.
“I love you more.”

Could I request Spencer Reid x male reader where the reader is a baker at a bakery that Spencer goes to every morning and they dance around each other before the reader musters the courage and kisses him spender is all nervous and the reader thinks he fucked up but Spencer kisses his worries away?
Tumblr media
Word Count: 1723
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Male! Baker! Reader
Warning: canon typical violence, takes place when Spencer is shot in the leg
A/n: Hello and once again thank you for the requests, I have enjoyed writing all of them. I hope this lives up to expectations, after all i did make you wait forever for it to be finished. Anyways, as always enjoy and remember to hydrate or diedrate.
Spencer had started going to this little bakery on the way to work every morning for the last couple of months. If anyone had asked him why he would definitely not say it was because of the handsome baker who helps him every day and makes him feel welcome. It’s definitely not because said baker checks on him everytime he comes back from a case and gives him a free pastry because ‘they had extra’. No it was not because he got butterflies every time the baker returned his random facts with his own about baked goods. No Spencer just liked supporting small local businesses. Denial aside, Spencer really did enjoy his daily visits to the bakery. It was a good little constant in his hectic routine.
Y/n also enjoyed Spencer’s daily visits. Having worked at the bakery for quite some time it was only natural for him to have picked out a favorite regular, his just happened to be the brown haired doctor who works for the FBI. It was a bright part of his day when the tall man came to the shop and gave random facts about coffee or baked goods, while Y/n prepared the order.
The friendship between baker and regular customer is normally just that. A baker who likes to make their customers feel welcome and a regular who enjoys said baker’s small talk. But for these two it quickly became something a little more. Small talk about where Spencer had gone on his latest case and how Y/n decided running a bakery was his dream, turned to slightly longer conversations about other aspects of their lives. Spencer voicing his worries for his mother and Y/n talking about some stupid thing a family member had gotten mad about.
As their friendship grew, so did the longing in both of their hearts. Neither man was sure what the other felt about him, so it was left to glances and subtle flirting. Well subtle flirting from Y/n’s side of things, Spencer wasn’t great with flirting. Either way they both fell into a routine of dancing around their true feelings, not wanting to ruin the calm mornings they spent together when Spencer wasn’t away on cases.
This dance of theirs went on for a few months, Y/n trying to get Spencer to realize he was interested by giving him free pastries and Spencer being clueless. Spencer may not have realized what Y/n was doing but he also was trying to show interest in his own way. His random daily facts had gone from the usual comments about how or why people make certain treats, to details that pertain more to the romantic side of things. Y/n just thought Spencer had run out of his usual facts and that the ones he was using now, were just what he had left. Both men were clueless and to anyone who saw from an outside point of view they both looked hopeless.
Everything finally changed one day. There wasn’t anything particularly different about the day, at first. What was different was instead of the normal lanky doctor walking through the doors right as the bakery opened, a blonde woman with funky glasses walked in instead. This wouldn’t have been weird had she not looked like there was something wrong and walked up to the counter looking around frantically.
“Um excuse me, I’m looking for Y/n Y/l/n.” The woman asked.
Having heard the woman speak, Y/n walked from the back where he was prepping some pastries for the oven. Wiping his hands on his apron, Y/n greeted the blonde with a gentle smile. “Hello, I’m Y/n. What can I help you with?” He asked hoping that it was something he could get sorted and not take too long on, after all he just assumed this was an unhappy customer coming to complain.
“Um, Hi. I’m Penelope Garcia, I work with Spencer at the FBI.” The woman explained. Hearing that she was one of Spencer’s coworkers, Y/n had to fight down the rush of worries that clouded his mind.  “Before you freak out he’s okay, well he was shot but he’s okay. Anyway he just told me that you would be expecting him and that someone needed to let you know he was okay.” The blonde explained.
Taking a moment to process the information, Y/n decided that he needed to see for himself that Spencer was in fact ok. “Could I go see him?” It was the only question Y/n could think of to get his point across.
Penelope smiled at him, before nodding. “Yeah of course I was going to go up and keep him company for a little bit, so if you want to, you can come with me.” She offered quickly. Penelope was one of the only people Spencer told about Y/n and his feelings for him, so she figured he would be fine with Y/n tagging along to check on him.
“I would appreciate that, thank you.” Y/n answered, then he turned to one of his employees who was nearby. “Would you mind watching the shop for a bit? I should be back later.” He asked while taking off his apron. Receiving an affirmative answer, he proceeded to grab quickly finished making the cup of coffee he always had ready for Spencer every morning, along with one for Penelope and himself. On his way out he also managed to grab a few pastries Spencer would enjoy.
The ride to the hospital was a mix of awkward silence and Penelope trying to get Y/n to relax a little bit. The tech wizard asked questions about the bakery and how Y/n enjoyed working there. Y/n answered all her questions but it didn’t take a profiler to know his mind was on the well being of one Dr. Reid.
Once they finally arrived Y/n had to hold himself back from just rushing through the hospital in search of Spencer. Luckily Penelope was quick to have him follow her to the Dr.’s room. Knocking on the door, hearing a quiet ‘come in’ Penelope opened the door slowly. “Hey Boy wonder, how’s your leg doing?” She asked, holding back her smile at the fact she was hiding something from the man.
“It’s fine, going to take some time until I’m able to walk again, but good with all things considered.” Spencer answered honestly. Finally looking up at his friend he noticed two things were off. One she was still standing near the door and two she was holding a very familiar to-go style coffee cup. Figuring the coffee was just from her stopping to inform Y/n about what happened, he chose to ask about the more obvious thing. “Why are you standing by the door like that?” He asked, head tilted to the side in confusion.
Finally letting the smile she was holding back take over her face, she stepped aside. “Well, I made a stop at your favorite bakery and picked up something for you.” She explained enjoying watching the look of confusion deepen before morphing into a surprised look upon seeing Y/n standing there holding two coffees and a box of what he could only assume to be pastries.
“Hey Spencer, I was worried when Penelope told me you had been shot. She said it was fine but I just needed to see for myself that you were really ok.” The baker rambled as he approached the side of the hospital bed. “ I asked if I could come see you and when she offered to bring me with her to see you I jumped at the chance. Oh and I also brought you a coffee just the way you like and some fresh pastries. I know how bad hospital food can be so I thought it may help to lift your spirits a bit.”
Spencer couldn’t hide his smile as Y/n sat down in the chair next to the bed. “Thank you Y/n, you didn’t have to do that.” He gladly accepted the cup of coffee. “Anyway, are you sure it’s okay that you’re here and not at the bakery?” He was worried about the small business.
Letting out a small chuckle, Y/n responded. “Yeah it’s fine, I left one of the more experienced bakers in charge. Plus if I had to I would have closed for the day, making sure you’re okay is worth more to me than a day of sales.” Y/n explained.
Before either could continue speaking the third person in the room spoke up. “I think I’ll leave you two to talk. I should probably get back to the office to see if the team needs any tech help.” Penelope excused herself not leaving any room for either to protest.
After Penelope left it was quiet for a few minutes. Neither being sure what to say, how strange two people who love talking to each other are rendered speechless when left alone in a private setting. Thinking of what to do next Y/n could only think of one thing. He was so happy that Spencer was in fact okay and after feeling such intense worry over his well being, Y/n began to realize just how much Spencer really meant to him. Deciding that their flirting wasn’t enough and not knowing exactly how to word his confession, Y/n decided the only way to get the clueless Doctor to understand would be to be as direct as possible. Which led the pair to this moment.
Y/n had taken the moment of silence to settle his nerves before leaning closer to Spencer and before the genius could ask what was happening, the baker had placed a kiss to his lips. It was effective in leaving the man speechless. After pulling away the silence continued as both parties processed what just happened.
When seconds turned to minutes Y/n’s doubts began to creep in, worrying that he ruined everything. “I’m so sorry, I was just so worried about you and then -” he was cut off mid ramble by Spencer leaning forward and returning the kiss. Both quickly relaxed into it, glad to finally be done with dancing around their feelings.

2024 Book Review #28 – The Dead Take The A Train by Cassandra Khaw and Richard Kadrey
Tumblr media
Oh I wanted to love this book so very much. On paper it’s basically made for me – incredibly messy fuckup of a heroine, cosmic horror through the idiom of wall street corporate sharks, grimy and gory urban fantasy full of knifing people in back alleys, the works! For the first fifty pages or so, I thought I was in love – which just made the disappointment as the wheels came off all the more bitter.
The book follows Julie, ‘barbed wire magician’ (it’s at least as unpleasant as it sounds), professional monster hunter, and all-around personal disaster. Her life takes a turn for the even messier when a) her best friend/comically oversized unresolved crush shows up at her door begging for help running from her abusive husband and b) unrelatededly but more or less simultaneously, her ex-partner-and-also-boyfriend, looking up to clean up embarrassing loose ends on his rise up the elldritch corporate ladder, baits her into trying to summon a guardian angel from a sabotaged tome and ends up releasing a metaphysical parasite that starts murdering its way through the city’s occult underground. From there things just get messier.
Drilling down as much as I can, my issues with this can be summed up as it feels like a first draft. There’s stuff there on the page – character arcs, relationships, bits of scenery and action setpieces, even themes! - but it’s all just..there. Exaggerated line sketches no one ever went back and turned into full illustrations. It’s most painful with the characters – every one of them is a caricature, precisely and exactly what they first appear to be with the same beats hit again and again every single time they appear on screen. Which more or less for the quirky supporting cast but like – we get multiple chapters from the perspective of the aforementioned abusive husband, and something like a fifth of the book is from the POV of the sleazy corporate striver ex. At no point does either one get the slightest bit of nuance or pathos – Tyler’s chapters in particular end up reading like bad SCP field reports, with so much self-destructive instituional backstabbing and betrayal it all ends up being slapstick.
Sarah the love interest gets a special anti-shout-out here. Like, I know I’m just picky about and have a low tolerance for romances, but I swear – the single most important dynamic in the book in terms of both wordcount and narrative signposting is her and Julie’s romance, and it is just So. Bad. Every single scene she’s in is dedicated to rubbing your face in how fragile and traumatized and selfless and adorable and good-hearted and damaged she is, and the entirety of the romance is essentially one of those jokes about how lesbians will spend six years living with each other awkwardly waiting for the other to ask them out but stretched across 400 pages. I spent half the book patiently waiting for any hint of hidden depths or surprising twists to her character, but nope! Just a perfect domestic angel.
The setting actually has something of a similar issue. It feels like an exaggerated pastiche of urban fantasy, assuming the reader is already familiar with all the tropes and conceits and making only the most perfunctory possible gestures towards exploring or justifying them. This can absolutely work, but if you’re doing it you kind of need to use the genre as the background or setup for something else that the book is actually about – deconstruction or satire or character study or Wacky Hijinks or something. When what’s gruesome action and drama is supposed to be the star attraction, the grounding and verisimilitude of the world is actually pretty key.
A really tight, tense plot could have absolutely redeemed the whole but, well, nope. The literal entire plot hinges on Tyler, in the course of one conversation several drinks in at a crowded bar, baiting Julie into looking for a particular type of tome from a particular store so she’ll try the ritual he had swapped out with one to curse her – but then also that he didn’t know what the ritual he swapped in actually did. The big evil wall street law firm has a corporate culture that should have collapsed about 48 hours after it was founded, and absolutely nothing about it makes sense for a place with lasting institutional power. Everyone’s morality and perceptiveness changes as the plot requires. The pacing feels like they had to pull a happy ending out of their asses at the 2/3 mark and shove the rest of the book into a sequel. It’s just, it’s bad!
Also the prose starts at fun and evocative and keeps pushing into Lovecraftian levels of adjective-addiction, and neither the A-Train nor the dead are actually at all important to the story.
Just, argh. This could have been good! The first 40 pages were a really fun schlocky monster-of-the-week story! The first ritual summoning the Proctor was basically perfect! I wanted to love this!

New Gen Ep 4 Edit (pt 1)
I got inspired by @kaumalade's edit.
This episode was sure something. Because of the illustration, I thought Jason would be absent, but there he was. Also, this episode made me like him a bit more especially, seeing how he slightly went mask off.
The headcanon: I will point out mostly what went different.
In my HC, Castiel (like everyone else from the other game) is significantly older but still has many fans. He's like a rock legend now.
Elizabeth confessed that she hadn't lovers before and that is because she might have a warped image of a perfect man, being surrounded by high-class people all the time. Everyone looked a bit weirded out especially because she said it nonchalantly.
She thinks that relationships are something beautiful that needs to be taken care of and gave her parent's relationship as an example and how perfect it is.
She didn't understand why Roy and Brunde got into a relationship in the first place and that their public breakup seemed boring and didn't deserve to happen there.
Since everyone else from the old cast is... well, older, Thomas didn't have Lynn as a crush when he was little. Also, Lynn called Thomas her nephew.
When Elizabeth heard that Jason seemed to have a lot of girls around him she got jealous but tried to control herself.
She actually defended him when he confronted the Devenementiel team and even apologized, saying "WE are sorry". She tried to look good in front of him but everyone else didn't like that much (Everyone will remember that- meme)
She actually got picked up by Jason on her way home where they sort of talked. She mentioned looking at his Instagram profile but "it was nothing special 💅" to which he said "Really? Then why did you like every single one of them?😏", her answer being "...as a joke". And from there the conversation stopped for some reason. And yes, he has a driver.
Here's the outfit:

I'm in the editing mines, lol. But I was writing a Lu POV chapter and Morvran was acting funny so I was like ok I have to know why he's in this mood or whether I need to rewrite this, so I went in and wrote, just to throw away, his immediately-preceding conversation with Kalia, Ciri's household manager and a fellow Intelligence operative.
And this is something I'd put in earlier in the series, from Ciri's POV, but it seems relevant that Morvran is aware of it now. So I'm putting it here to preserve it, as this isn't a scene that's going to go into the main continuity anyway. And I wanted to post something as a proof of life, LOL.
Kalia considered that a moment, then snorted. “Morvran, it’s not like she’s going to marry someone else.” He glanced up at her, startled by her bluntness, and Kalia gestured widely with one hand. “You think any of the other candidates haven’t committed war crimes?” Morvran blinked, trying to determine whether he knew that for a fact or not. “Well,” he said. “Would any of them write up a report about them?” she asked. “Have any of them even made an effort to get to know her?” “Kalia,” he said, exasperated. “I’m not competing with the other candidates.” It wasn’t until he said it that he knew it was true. “I”m competing with her not choosing anyone. She doesn’t need me. She doesn’t need anyone. If she doesn’t find someone to marry she can just leave. And then we’ll have another fucking civil war.”
For a separate conversation I had to go look up the name I'd made up for Morvran's little brother and in so doing I wound up rereading most of the FFP series so I'm finding all kinds of shit I've already said in there. Ciri had the exact thought above very early on, before she even arrived in Nilfgaard I think. But she didn't say so. (And yes, i'd meant initially to have there be more suspense over the other candidates, but then I just didn't create any good characters, so that fell by the wayside. It's fine, LOL, I don't think anyone really needed that to be a side plot. There's still room for someone cool to pop up. We'll see if I get to it.)
As I was rereading, I remembered that I made a deliberate choice sometime during the pandemic: I realized that it would take longer for me to edit and cut down the story to make the pacing taut, and given the givens of what was going on in the world, I wasn't going to do that. I was just going to post the long sprawling story as it was. And I've stuck to that. So it's just. This long sprawl with all these meandery side bits, and as part of that yeah, some stuff is kind of repeated.
I know it's working for a bunch of readers, and it's working for me, but sometimes I'm like oh my god why is this so long why didn't i make myself a style sheet why didn't i edit anything down ever. So, LOL, if you've ever been like hmmmm this story is getting kind of long, well you're not the first to have that thought. I used to treat fanfic as like, "practice" for "real" writing (publishing original works), which is still a thing I'd love to do and may well someday, and I know nothing published as an original work is going to sprawl like this, and the worldbuilding would be all different, but you know, it's not like I'm not learning stuff from sprawling like this. It's been a fun ride and I'm not done yet. But that doesn't mean there won't be deleted scenes; I can't include this conversation with Morvran and Kalia simply because the pacing of the chapter works better starting with the other POV, and it's not worth trying to shoehorn in a flashback.
(This is also making me remember another decision I made in the fog of lockdown, which was that I had to stop replying to comments temporarily, because I had such limited time and realized I was spending it all in lovely conversations in the comments instead of writing more material, and while that wasn't bad per se, I really needed to tell the rest of the story. And I still haven't gone back to catch up on replying to comments and I feel guilty about that. So if you've left lovely comments and I haven't answered that's why, there's a three-year backlog at this point, and I've answered a few but it's not necessarily because they were the best, it's more that they came in during a moment when I had time, spoons, attention, and mostly, just happened to click through and do the thing and hit post. Alas.)

The Gift
G - WIP - Part 1/? - 1k words - ATYD timeline compliant.
Is this a fic? Because there's barely any plot. This is the first part of one single scene and it's already long as fuck, because I am nothing if not verbose. Based on this headcanon. Hopefully I won't drag it out too much. Enjoy and lmk what you think!
Sirius Orion Black the Third had heard his best friend singing the praises of one Lilian Jasmine Evans for so long that he never thought there would come a day when the two of them would amicably be having a private conversation.
It’s not that he thought bad of her - they had just never seemed that compatible. She had been an annoying swot in their early years at Hogwarts, and she was friends with Snivellus of all people, which, in Sirius’ book, couldn’t be a good sign of character. Thank Godrick people change, and if he had been surprised when James and Lily finally got together, imagine his shock when he realised he had, in fact, grown fond of the redhead himself.
Remus, of course, had predicted it. The bastard was always right.
The clever bastard was, incidentally, the topic of conversation that morning in the library. They had come back from Winter break a fortnight before, but the third years already managed to wreak havoc in the dungeons - Slughorn had previously confessed to the seventh years how the Slytherin-Hufflepuff third class was particularly inept this year. So class had been cancelled for that morning, as the Potions professor tried to take care of the sour batches before they exploded all over his classroom. Potter used the free hour to take care of some Quidditch business, and since neither Sirius nor Lily had other urgent plans, they decided to spend the time revising in the library. As he glanced at the freckly girl across the table, Sirius thought it was probably the first time they were spending time alone, ever. He couldn’t recall any other instance anyway.
They had been sitting quietly for a while, reading, but the novelty of having a spontaneous hour off was evidently bothering Lily:
“Ugh I just can’t focus at the moment, this free has really thrown me off my schedule” she sighed, rubbing her eyes. Count on Lily to look at a free hour like a hindrance.
“That’s exactly what Moony would say” he chuckled. He found that now that all his friends knew, it was so easy to make comments like this, without worrying about the implications. Still easier with Lily, who was similar to Remus in many ways - both analytical planners, worryingly devoted to their to-do lists, but who crumbled under pressure if anything didn’t go to plan. Sirius and James, on the other hand, were the think-on-your-feet types. He privately thought they had all paired up quite well.
Lily had blushed slightly at being compared to Remus; she probably thought it was high praise, and Sirius was inclined to agree. He could only have intended a compliment, if the other boy was involved.
After a moment's silence, Lily’s eyes widened a bit, as if she had just remembered something, and leaned forward across the desk. Sirius put down his book, glad to be done with the pretence of doing something useful and instead turning his attention to something more exciting than the legislature around Veritaserum.
“Speaking of Remus… his eighteenth birthday’s coming up,” Lily said, somewhat expectantly.
Sirius raised an eyebrow at this. Sure, March was more than a month away, but did she think he didn’t remember?
“I know, he’s my boyfriend.” He stumbled through his defensive tone. It was the first time he ever referred to Remus as such, out loud anyway. He felt the top of his ears warm up - he had surprised himself with this choice of vocabulary. Lily’s cheeks had become bright red as well; it was new territory for all of them.
“Of course, I was just wondering…if you have anything planned? Gift-wise?” There was a tinge of nervousness in her voice “I know we went all-out last year, but eighteen is when you come of age for muggles, and I thought he would maybe appreciate if someone put some effort to celebrate this…I know it sounds silly, but I would…” she shrugged. Sirius could see she truly cared about this, and that she was putting a lot of thought behind it. He always held in high regard all his friends who didn’t abjure their muggle origins, even more now, in the middle of the war. Moreover, any birthday was a good enough reason to spoil your loved ones, no matter the cultural implications of the age they were turning.
“Yeah - I, um, already got him something, actually” he answered apologetically, remembering the detailed instructions he wrote to the Goblin goldsmiths. Lily’s shoulders slumped at this,
“Ugh, I should’ve known,” she looked very defeated “I have been wracking my brains for weeks trying to come up with a gift, but with everything that’s been going on I never have more than five seconds to properly think about it…” Sirius tried to now dwell on all the things "everything that's been going" could entail.
“Well… I’m giving him a cigarette holder” he supplied, expecting Lily to disapprove. She and James were always giving out to him and Remus for the terrible habit.
“That’s perfect!” She gasped. Sirius was stunned. She then buried her doll-like face in her hands “That’s perfect for him. He’ll love it. I’ll never find anything as good.”
“Aren’t you putting too much pressure on yourself? I’m sure Moony will appreciate anything you give him.” This was true, but unfortunately didn’t sound as comforting now that he’d said it out loud.
“I know he will, but it’s not just that… I want this to be special, you know? Something useful, yes, but also meaningful.”
Meaningful. Sirius was looking into Lily’s green eyes, her gaze tired but solemn.
Since the Diagon Alley attack, meaning had been an elusive concept to capture. It wasn’t the same as purpose, it was much more fickle. In the face of the terrible evil that was making itself increasingly more present, meaning seemed to escape entirely. Asking "why" wasn’t an option anymore, if any answer to it seemed impossible to conjure. The lack of certainty in the present translated itself into an imbuing of meaning in the small, mundane things. Thus, a simple birthday gift could, and did, hold this much weight.
He straightened up, a fire newly lit within him.
“Ok, let’s brainstorm.”

The next morning, you and Chan went to your favorite café for breakfast. You were filled with dread, because you had no idea how the conversation that you two needed to have would go. Chan, on the other hand, could barely contain his excitement and had incredibly high hopes. It might have just been a café date, but this was his chance to show you that he could be better and love you the way you deserved. Both of you ordered your usual drinks and found a place to sit.
“Should we wait for our coffee before we start talking about what happened last night?” you asked, hoping that Chan couldn’t sense your worry.
“We probably should. If the conversation gets interrupted, we might not say what needs to be said.”
“Yeah, exactly.”
“Are you ok, (Y/N)? You seem nervous.”
“I’m ok, Channie. I always get a little worried when big conversations like this happen, but I know it needs to.”
“Whatever happens, I’m really happy that I got to see you yesterday, and that I got to hold you one more time. Even if I never get to again.”
His words made your heart melt. Before the events of the night before, you had thought that you were the only one missing your relationship with Chan. Now you knew with absolute certainty that he had missed you just as much. You really wanted to try again, but you weren’t sure that your heart could take it if the two of you split up again.
“I’m sorry, (Y/N). I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable. Are you ok?”
“Oh no, I wasn’t uncomfortable,” you quickly replied. “I was just thinking about some things.”
“What things?”
Before you could answer, the barista that had taken your order called your names. You walked in silence to get your drinks, both of you preparing yourselves for the conversation that couldn’t be put off any longer. Chan was the first to speak, asking you what specific things you wanted to address.
“Well, I’d really like to know what happened with Ryujin.”
“Nothing happened between me and her. She tried to come onto me, but I told her that I wasn’t interested. The messages saying ‘I love you’ were all sent by her, and she was the one that said that she knew I would rather be with her. But I told her immediately that it was bullshit and that the only person I wanted was you. I even went through my messages and found the conversation so I could show you that I never did anything with her.”
“Show me.”
He quickly agreed, opened his messaging app, and handed the phone to you. You read all of the messages, and everything that he said was true. You started to feel terrible for thinking that Chan would ever cheat on you. It was embarrassing to look back on how you acted when Ryujin had come to you and told you that Chan had been flirting with her. She had been one of your closest friends at the time, so you had no reason to doubt her. But Chan had never given you a reason to doubt him before that moment either.
“I’m sorry, Channie. I should have believed you.”
“Hey, don’t apologize. I know it’s hard to not believe your friend when something like that happens. I just needed you to know that I never would have done something like that to you. I loved you. I still love you.” The last part was said quietly, but you still heard it loud and clear. Truth be told, you still loved him too.
“I love you too, Channie. What did you wanna address today?”
“Well, I wanna know what you want us to be. I don’t think it needs to be said how much we’ve missed each other, but I need to know what you want going forward.”
“Well, what do you want going forward?”
“I’d really like you to answer that first. I know what I want, but I don’t want my answer to affect yours.”
“Ok. I want us to be together again, but I’m really worried about losing you for good this time. I don’t know if I could handle losing you again.”
Chan sighed and said “Then why don’t we keep things casual for now? I would love for us to go back to how things were, but I don’t want to make you worry about getting hurt again.”
“I think that’s a good starting point. No long-term commitment, no chances of getting hurt.”
“So, I guess that’s settled,” he said with a smile. God, you loved his smile. From the moment you met him his smile made you feel warm and happy.
“Would it be ok to talk about what happened last night?”
“I was hoping we could.”
“I don’t want you to think that sex is the only thing that I want. I want an emotional connection with you, not just a physical one.”
“I never thought that. I think that last night was just the result of a lot of emotions and repressed desires.”
“Probably.”
“Before we talk about anything else, I really just wanna say that I’m sorry. I know that I messed up. The guys have been helping me spend less time in the studio, and Minho has refused to let me go alone. I know that was one of the reasons you left. I promise you that this time I’ll be a better partner to you.”
“I also need to apologize. I wasn’t exactly the best either. I’ve been working through my jealousy problems and trust issues in therapy, and I understand that sometimes you have to prioritize your job. I promise you that I’ll treat you better.”
The two of you sat in a comfortable silence after that, finishing your coffees and processing what had been said. You knew you loved Chan, and you had hope that this time the two of you could make it work. Chan, however, was more hesitant this time. He was terrified of hurting you again, though you would have never known it because he didn’t stop smiling once the two of you agreed to start over. While he was nervous, he was also overjoyed that he could finally call you his again.
Once the two of you were back at the dorm, you knocked on Felix’s door and asked to talk to him. He opened the door and let you in immediately. You pulled him into a tight hug and said that you had news to share.
“What is it? Are you ok? Did something bad happen between you and Chan? Everyone heard you arguing in the kitchen during the movie last night.”
“Well, I wouldn’t say something bad happened between us.”
“What does that mean?” Felix asked, his voice now laced with concern.
“We decided to try again.”
Your best friend was silent for a few moments, and then said “(Y/N), are you really sure that’s a good idea? I remember how miserable you were towards the end of the relationship. I remember how much of a wreck you were after it ended.”
“Honestly, I think that it’s worth the risk. We agreed to keep it casual, and both of us are really trying to be better.”
“Are you sure that Chan is trying?”
“I can only hope that he is. Let me be optimistic just this once. Please?”
“Ok. As long as you’re happy, I’m happy. Just know that if you need anything I’m here.”
“Thank you, Lixie.”
This time he was the one that hugged you. You appreciated his concern for you, but you really wanted to prove him wrong this time. Chan loved you, and you loved him. That had to be enough to make trying again worth it. It had to be enough for you to be able to change what had gone wrong the first time.
Your conversation with Felix had left you a little bit uneasy, so you quickly made your way to Chan’s room. He instantly noticed that something was wrong and asked if you were ok. You told him about what Felix had said and your own concerns that your relationship would go poorly again. His expression changed, and it seemed like he was hiding something. You gently pressed him to tell you what was wrong, and he admitted that he was also worried. “I’m terrified of hurting you again,” he said.
“I know the feeling. I’m worried that I won’t be able to move past my own issues this time,” you replied.
Chan knew that he couldn’t make these feelings go away for either of you. So, he didn’t try to tell you that everything would be ok. Instead, he gave you a tight hug and whispered, “The best thing we can do is try. And I promise you that I will try.” He placed a gentle kiss on your forehead as you relaxed into his hold.
Your quiet moment was interrupted by Changbin loudly knocking on Chan’s door, asking if he wanted to join him and Jisung for an impromptu studio session. He opened the door and politely declined, explaining that he wanted to spend some time with you. Changbin looked at you with poorly hidden shock as he processed what that meant. You gave him a small smile in return and said that you hoped the session went well. Chan said that he would come to the studio later and kissed your cheek as he closed his door.
Before going to the studio, Changbin sprinted to Felix’s room and knocked. When he opened the door, Changbin whispered something that Felix couldn’t quite make out. He asked Changbin to come in and repeat what he said. The second Felix’s door was shut Changbin said, “I think that (Y/N) and Chan are back together.”
“Oh, yeah they are,” Felix replied, “(Y/N) told me a little bit ago that they were gonna try again, but that they’re keeping it casual for now.”
“Chan turned down going to the studio to spend time with (Y/N). Does that sound casual to you?”
This time it was Felix’s turn to be surprised. Chan never turned down a studio session. Maybe this time he was really trying. Felix was still skeptical, but it gave him a small amount of hope to hear that. “Maybe he is doing things differently,” Felix mumbled, mostly to himself.
“I’m actually really happy that they’re back together,” Jisung interrupted. “Bin, are we still going?”
“Yeah, sorry. Just wanted to ask Felix what was going on since he knows (Y/N) better than I do.”
Jisung and Changbin quickly left for the studio, leaving Felix alone with his thoughts. He wondered if Chan had really turned down working for you and thought about what that meant. Maybe you were right. Maybe Chan had changed, and maybe that meant that this time your relationship would be better.
While Changbin had been with Felix trying to find out what happened, you and Chan had decided to watch a movie and cuddle in his bed. The movie was a little bit boring to you, but you didn’t say anything. You were just grateful to have this time together. His arms around you felt like home, and every time he laughed at the movie it was music to your ears. About halfway through the movie, you fell asleep. Once Chan noticed he kissed your head and held you until you woke up, thrilled to be back with the person he loved.
When you woke up an hour or so later, Chan drove you back to your apartment and thanked you for spending time with him and giving him another chance. You hugged him and thanked him for his patience during your earlier conversation. Then the two of you shared a sweet, loving kiss before parting ways. On his drive home, he thought about ways that he could really show you that he appreciated you giving him another chance.
One of the things that he did was schedule a date night with you about a month after you two got back together. The plan was to go to your favorite upscale restaurant. Then, the two of you would go back to the dorm for a bit of quality time before he went back to Australia for a few weeks to visit his family. At least, that’s what you thought was going to happen.
You were wearing Chan’s favorite dress. It was a red, floor-length evening gown with a plunging neckline and a high slit. He went crazy every time you wore it, and you loved having that effect on him. As for makeup, you went with something simple yet elegant, fitting for the restaurant you were going to. Your makeup was almost done when you got a text from him. It said “Going to the studio with the guys to do some last-minute tweaks on a new track. sorry, I promise I’ll be there as soon as I can. I love you.” The message made you wanna throw your phone across the room, but you decided to wait. You had hoped that you would hear from him again in a few minutes, telling you that he was finished or that he had changed his mind.
After 2 hours you had heard nothing, which you had to admit you expected. While your relationship with Chan felt basically perfect up to this point, deep down you knew that something like this would happen at some point. Since you didn’t want to spend the night being sad by yourself, you decided to call Felix. After a few rings, he picked up and said, “Hey, (Y/N)! Is everything ok?”
“Not really. Chan and I had a date planned for tonight, but he went to the studio instead. I called to ask if you wanted to go out or something, since he stood me up.”
“Yeah, of course. We could go to the new club that just opened up across town.”
“That sounds fun. I’ll meet you there?”
“Sounds great. Bye, (Y/N).”
“Bye, Lixie.” You hung up the phone and started to get ready again. The club you were going to was much less formal than the restaurant you had originally planned to go to tonight. So, you changed into a different dress that you knew would draw some attention. It was bright purple, with a short skirt and an obscene amount of glitter. You knew it wasn’t right, but you wanted someone to see you and at least tell you that you looked good. Once you were dressed, you quickly re-did your makeup to look a little bit flashier, then left to meet Felix.
When you got to the club, you immediately hugged Felix and thanked him for coming out with you. He apologized, saying that he was hoping that Chan would be different this time. He smiled and pulled you into the club. You were nervous about being there, but those nerves quickly faded as you heard your favorite song playing. The dance floor seemed so inviting, so you made your way there as Felix ordered his first drink of the night.
As you danced, you completely lost yourself in the music. That’s probably why you missed the multiple calls and texts from Chan. He felt terrible about losing track of time in the studio. A few minutes after you got to the club he tried to call you to apologize and to let you know that he would be on his way soon. When you didn’t answer, he texted Felix to see if you were ok.
At this point Felix was incredibly drunk, so when he told Chan what happened he wasn’t exactly kind. He made sure that Chan knew how much standing you up had hurt you, and that he genuinely thought that Chan would treat you differently this time. Chan texted you one more time to apologize, and then he went back to the studio. He tried to get a little bit more work done to take his mind off of things, but the guilt eating away at him forbade it.
You didn’t see the text from Chan right away either. You were too busy dancing with an extremely attractive guy that made you forget about your pain for a little while. He had told you that his name was Hongjoong, and that he was only in town for a few days. The realization that he didn’t live nearby filled you with a sudden confidence that frankly took you by surprise. After that you flirted with him shamelessly, reveling in the attention he gave you and the knowledge that you most likely wouldn’t see him again.
Hongjoong flashed you a smile and asked if you wanted to go back to his hotel room. For a brief moment you considered saying yes. Then you thought about how badly you had wanted to make things work with Chan, and the guilt started to settle in. You politely declined Hongjoong’s invitation and went to find Felix.
When you found him, he was sitting at the bar and flirting with the bartender. You quietly informed him that you were ready to leave and went outside for a little bit of fresh air before returning home. Felix joined you a few minutes later, saying that he was tired and also wanted to leave. He asked if you were ok, and you quickly nodded. It was obvious that you weren’t ok, but he knew that you would tell him what happened whenever you were ready.
You told him that you were ready to leave and hugged him. You offered to drive him home, but he told you that he would take a taxi. The two of you agreed to text each other when you were home and parted ways.
When you arrived home, you opened your phone to text Felix. Before you could, however, you saw the missed calls and texts from Chan. He hadn’t left a voicemail any of the times that he called, but his texts were all apologies for losing track of time. He swore to make it up to you when he returned home from Australia, and once again guilt started to destroy you. Had you really almost thrown away your entire relationship for a little bit of attention from a hot guy? The realization made you start sobbing as you processed what you almost did to Chan.
Thank you so much for reading! I'd love to hear what you guys think of this one. My next post will probably be chapter 5 of my Shotaro fic. Stay tuned! And as always, feedback is greatly appreciated!

Why All This Music?
Masters of the Air - Rosie Rosenthal x OC

29. A Head Start
No resolution or compromise was quickly found to the disagreement about where Freddie and Rosie would live after the war. In fact, all conversation surrounding the matter came to an abrupt halt when Rosie’s fort went down over France.
He and the rest of his crew found themselves, mercifully, behind Allied lines, but they were all seriously injured. Rosie had to be pulled, unconscious, out of his cockpit by the Free French, but he woke up in a hospital in Oxford to both of Freddie’s parents sitting at his bedside. His co-pilot, Will Terminello, was conscious through the crash and had managed to get word back to Thorpe Abbotts that they were all alive but wounded, and when Freddie found out they were being sent to Oxford she’d telephoned her parents right away so that he wouldn’t wake up alone.
When Rosie finally returned, a week later than expected, smiling sheepishly in the front seat of a jeep with a broken arm and a splint on his nose, Freddie felt she could have killed him.
She hung back and waited as he disembarked the jeep, taking him in with a frown. When Rosie lifted his good arm to wave at her, however, she closed the distance between them in seconds.
“‘I promise I’ll never go down, Fred’,” she mimicked him in an unflattering impression, flinging her arms around his neck and pressing herself to him, making sure to be mindful of the arm sitting in a sling. “‘I promise I’ll always come back to you, Fred’,” she went on mimicking, even as tears of relief flooded her voice.
Rosie chuckled quietly, using his good arm to hold her close. “I did come back to you,” he reminded her softly, speaking into her hair, “didn’t I?”
“A week late,” Freddie said, choking out a laugh.
“What’s a week, in the grand scheme of things, huh?” he teased her gently. “Still came back. Still gonna keep coming back.”
“You’d better.” There was no real weight to the threat, not when she was breathing heavily to try to tame her tears. “I love you.”
Rosie pressed a kiss to the top of her head. “I love you too.” He smiled against her hair. “Your parents send their love. They gave me some stuff to give to you.” Kissing her hair again, he moved to rest his cheek on top of her head. “Thanks for sending them, Fred. Last thing I remembered was the fort going down. It was nice to have familiar faces there when I woke up.”
Freddie nodded, too choked up just now to verbally reply.
It was silly, she knew, to be crying about all this. All he had was a broken arm and nose. But the thought of his plane going down at all, when his plane had never gone down before, removed the untouchable status he’d acquired which he so often used to reassure her. He’d never gone down, he’d always tell her, so she had no reason to worry. Well, now he had. And he’d survived, yes - hadn’t even been captured, in fact - but he had still gone down. He was still mortal - an excellent pilot, true, but so had Bucky and Buck and Brady all been. He was just as capable of being shot down as the others.
Rosie was transferred to the infirmary on base with a doctor’s note from the hospital in Oxford ordering that he spend a night in the infirmary, to make sure if he rolled on his broken arm in his sleep or otherwise further injured it then someone would be around to help. So Freddie spent the night sitting at his bedside. There were numerous empty beds in the room but she wasn’t allowed to sleep in them - they were strictly for patients, and she’d only be making more work for the nurses by forcing them to rewash and dry the sheets afterwards. And anyway, it was really nice of all of the medical staff to let her remain in there at all overnight when it was against the rules. Visiting hours applied to the infirmary just as they applied to real hospitals, but given Freddie’s history, which she knew was written in her medical chart because it was the primary reason she’d transferred airfields, the nurses on duty had decided to make an exception.
It was almost funny to her now to remember the relief she’d felt when Thorpe Abbotts had been handed over by the RAF to the American Air Force. After Daniel had first gone down she’d been convinced she would never love again anyway, but the prospect of dealing with Americans had made her feel safe from caring about any of them too much. She’d never met an American back then and had for some reason believed they’d be different to how they were. Now - well, she was in love with one and considering following him to America, so clearly her plan hadn’t worked.
Freddie read Rosie to sleep that night, smiling fondly as she watched him fight the closing of his eyelids because he wanted to carry on listening to her voice. But he slept eventually, exhaustion pulling him under as easily as the tide, and Freddie ran gentle fingers through his messy curls as she shut his book and placed it on the floor beneath her chair, then settled back into the pillow one of the nurses had let her borrow to save her back.
With the blackout blinds pulled and only the small lamp at Rosie’s bedside to illuminate the cavernous room, all of a sudden the silence was stifling. Freddie reached for and took Rosie’s hand, comforting herself with the knowledge that he was close. She had to make a conscious effort to settle enough to close her eyes as she sat upright in an uncomfortable chair.
She fell asleep holding Rosie’s good hand and woke holding it too, an awful crick in her neck but a smile on her face when she realised she’d woken first. Rosie was still sound asleep, his face turned into the pillow to face her and the hand holding hers tucked up snug beneath his chin, the light sneaking in around the edges of the blackout blinds lighting up the ends of his hair in a halo. His chest rose and fell steadily, his deep breaths belying the depth of his sleep, and though summer was still hanging on by a thread Freddie worried he’d be cold in the chill of the morning after he must have pushed his blanket down to his waist during the night. Using her free hand, she drew it carefully back up and tucked him into bed the way he’d once done for her, her heart growing warm when he snuggled down into the blanket now pulled up beneath his chin.
Rosie didn’t wake for hours but Freddie stayed there all the same, watching the rise and fall of his chest to assure herself that he really was here, really was safe, that all of the worrying she’d done was unnecessary. And, when she finally felt she could really and truly breathe properly again, he started mumbling his way into consciousness, the first and clearest word out of his mouth her name. “Fred.”
“I’m here, my love,” Freddie assured him, giving the hand she was holding a gentle squeeze.
“Where ‘m I?” he asked groggily. He tried to sit up but found he couldn’t plant his hands on the mattress to push himself up because one was in a sling and the other was holding onto Freddie’s.
Freddie smiled as he kept hold of her hand and resigned himself to remaining horizontal, as she watched him crane his neck this way and that to try to recognise his location. “The infirmary, sweetness,” she told him, squeezing his hand softly once more. “You’re back at Thorpe Abbotts, now, remember?”
“Oh,” Rosie mumbled. “Right.”
“Did you sleep well?” she asked him, reaching forward with her free hand to brush back some of the curls which had fallen into his eyes.
Rosie hummed his affirmative, which Freddie had, of course, already known, but she wasn’t sure whether she wanted to admit that she’d been watching him sleep for hours by now.
“Shall I call for one of the nurses to come look at your arm?” she asked him. Her hand remained in his hair even though by all accounts her work there was finished. He just had the loveliest hair. She’d liked Daniel’s hair too - bright blond, which she had always found fitting, because he’d burned so brightly it only made sense for him to look like he emitted light, too - but Rosie’s hair was captivating. Those soft, dark curls of his, the direct antithesis to Daniel’s straight blond locks, were stunning to her. He could have been a film star, she thought, if he hadn’t become a lawyer and a pilot. The promise of getting to gaze at those baby blue eyes alone could sell millions of cinema tickets.
Rosie didn’t immediately react to Freddie’s question - still disoriented from the pain medication he’d been given the night before, she deduced - so she added, “They might discharge you if everything looks good, and then we can go and get breakfast.”
He looked at her suddenly, with a new clarity, and Freddie perked up to think the promise of breakfast had gotten him to finally break free of the last lingering grips of sleep. But then he said, “Fred, baby, will you come lie with me?” in a soft little voice, a voice he tended only to use after they’d been intimate, and her heart melted into a thin liquid and trickled down out of her feet and pooled in her shoes.
“There’s no space on the bed, darling,” Freddie informed him regretfully. “I can come and sit on the edge -”
“I want you to lie with me,” he cut across her, still speaking so softly his voice was like the fur of a puppy.
Freddie tilted her head to the side as she gazed at him, fiddling with the ends of his hair. “I don’t want to hurt you, Bärchen.”
Before he could reply, one of the nurses, Margaretta, entered the room and smiled upon finding both Freddie and Rosie awake. “Mornin’,” she greeted in her distinctly Bristolian drawl. “How’d we sleep?”
Rosie mumbled something unintelligible, letting his head fall back to rest on the pillow again.
Freddie laughed, continuing to comb back his hair. “He slept well,” she informed Margaretta, sharing an amused smile with her. “He’s still drowsy from the pain medication Janine gave him, I think.”
Margaretta stopped in the middle of a step and stumbled as she attempted to right herself. “Janine gave him pain medication?”
“Yes,” Freddie confirmed, quirking a brow. “Last night when he first came in, right before I helped him to wash and get ready for bed.”
Margaretta had gone pale. “I gave him pain medication last night,” she said, wide-eyed.
Freddie sat up straighter. “What? When?”
“I think you went to go and get your things. He was complainin’ about the pain and about wantin’ you to come back so I gave him a tablet. There was nothing on his chart -”
Freddie’s eyes shot to Rosie where he was staring at the ceiling, muttering to himself. She wanted to laugh but wasn’t sure how serious this was.
Finally, Margaretta let out a laugh of her own. When Freddie looked at her she had a hand over her mouth, trying to hold in her giggles. “He’ll be fine,” she assured Freddie when she noticed her look, lowering her hand. “He’ll have slept most of it off, he’ll just be drowsy for a couple of hours.”
Freddie let herself start to smile, too. “He did sleep very deeply.”
Margaretta shrugged. “For the best then, I s’pose. Usually the men get nightmares their first night back on base after a crash - the pilots especially. Takes ‘em a while to work up to getting the sleep they need to heal their bodies. At least I’ve given him a head start.”
With a breathy laugh, Freddie lowered her hand to stroke Rosie’s cheek. “I’m grateful to you for keeping away the nightmares, then.”
Margaretta laughed a little bit herself, then smoothed her hands down her skirt and straightened her posture. “I’ll go fetch you both some breakfast, since I don’t reckon your pilot’s in any fit state to head off to the mess hall right now and we’ve only got me to blame for it. Does he eat eggs?”
Giggling, Freddie nodded. “Yes. Eggs, toast, he’s not very picky in all honesty. Prefers apple juice to orange if they’ve got it, though.”
“Apple juice,” Margaretta confirmed. “Got it. And for you, ma’am? Any requests?”
“Oh, you don’t have to get anything for me,” Freddie assured her. “I’ll just wait for lunch.”
Margaretta pretended not to hear this. “Eggs alright?”
Freddie laughed and relented. “Eggs are perfect, Margaretta, thank you.”
Margaretta nodded, inclining her head respectfully before turning and all but bolting out of the infirmary. Freddie assumed she was trying to get out of there before she accidentally laughed again but she needn’t have worried - Freddie herself was the worst for laughing at Rosie’s small misfortunes.
Rising from her chair, Freddie came to crouch by the head of the bed so she could meet Rosie’s eyes without him having to crane his neck. He brightened when she appeared back in his field of vision, and shut his eyes with a happy hum when she recommenced combing her fingers through his hair.
“Margaretta has gone to get you breakfast,” Freddie informed him quietly, leaning forwards to gently kiss the tip of his nose.
Rosie smiled dopily. “I love breakfast.”
Freddie grinned. “I know you do. She’s going to bring you apple juice if they’ve got any.”
“I love apple juice.”
Freddie laughed quietly. “She says you should feel better in a couple of hours once your meds wear off. You’ll be up and ordering me to eat every five seconds in no time, my darling love.”
Rosie cracked a sleepy grin at this. “I love you.”
“I love you too, sweetness,” Freddie told him softly, and kissed his nose once more because he was just so very sweet. “You had me so worried.”
“‘M fine,” he assured her quietly. “Just missed you. ‘S all.”
“I missed you, too,” Freddie answered him. “And I love you very much. Now shall we try sitting you up so you can eat something when Margaretta comes back?”
“Come lie with me first.”
Freddie rolled her eyes indulgently. “There’s not enough room, Bärchen,” she reminded him.
“You can lie on top of me.”
Freddie shook her head, laughing softly to herself. “No, darling. I’ll hurt your arm.”
Rosie pouted and frowned and complained when Freddie subsequently helped him to sit up, making sure his pillows were fluffed and propped up properly behind him against the bed frame. But, after Margaretta returned with breakfast for the both of them, it seemed that eating a proper meal helped to clear some more of the haziness out of his system. A midmorning nap later while Freddie was at work and she was looking up at a knock at her office door to find Rosie in the doorway, smiling sheepishly as he pushed the door open.
Freddie grinned. “Hi, my darling. Are you feeling better?”
“Yeah,” Rosie said, crossing the room to greet Meatball with pets to his head before heading over to Freddie. “Drugs have all worn off now.”
“A shame,” Freddie teased. “I rather liked that version of you.”
Rosie rolled his eyes, his cheeks flaming. It came as no surprise to Freddie when he changed the subject. “I’m back in my hut tonight, so at least you won’t have to sleep sitting up again.”
Freddie laughed. “I don’t know, I quite liked reading you a bedtime story the way you did for me. Woke up with an awful crick in my neck, though.” She lifted a hand to hold her neck as she attempted to stretch it out for what must have been nearly the twentieth time, grimacing as it stuck in the same place and sent a fierce ache down her spine.
“I kinda wanted to talk to you about that, actually,” Rosie ventured.
Freddie’s eyebrows furrowed. “About the crick in my neck?”
“No, the other thing.”
“About reading you a bedtime story?”
Rosie laughed, shaking his head at her. “I can’t fly for at least a few weeks. Jack’s got me pushing paper in air exec since he can always use the extra help, but there’s not a full job for me there, so I’ve got the next few weekends off. I was wondering if you wanted to take one of ‘em off with me so I can take you on that trip to London we were talking about a couple months back.”
Freddie brightened, sitting up straighter in her chair. “A weekend in London,” she said wistfully. “A hotel room to share and all the privacy in the world. If I can get leave I’m taking it, but I don’t know if I’ll ever come back.”
Rosie grinned. “So I should try to get some fake wedding rings for us?”
Freddie stood from her chair, rounding her desk to get closer to him. Once directly in front of him, she pushed up on her toes and he leaned down immediately, instinctively, to meet her for a sweet kiss. “Yes,” she told him decisively once they’d pulled away. “We’ll be fake married for the weekend to give ourselves a quiet life. They never check the marriage certificates - Cecelia and Emma both stayed in hotels with their boyfriends when they went on leave and said they only really looked for the rings. I might be able to borrow one of their fake rings, in fact, so then you only have to get one for yourself.”
Rosie smiled shyly as he curled his hands around her waist. He shrugged. “I kinda hope we get to do this a few times so maybe it’s better if I get you one of your own. Y’know, just in case.”
Freddie grinned. She knew what he was really saying, of course - knew the real reason he wanted her to have her own fake wedding ring - but didn’t say it just to give him his privacy. “Alright,” she agreed. “If it’s not too much trouble.”
He smiled and kissed her forehead. “You focus on getting leave and leave the rest to me, alright, Fred? I’m sure I can figure it out.”
“Hotel room included, provided I get the time off?” Freddie asked.
“Sure,” Rosie agreed. “Croz used to spend a lot of time in London so he gave me a list of good hotels.”
Freddie paused, quirking a brow. She was watching Rosie closely. “Interesting. What business did Croz have in London?”
A rosy flush filled Rosie’s cheeks once more. “You’ll, uh, have to ask him. I don’t know if he’d want me to say.”
“Keeping secrets, are we?” Freddie asked with narrowed eyes. “I do hope he’s not been having an affair. He’s married.”
Rosie said nothing.
Freddie raised her eyebrows. “I do hope you wouldn’t condone that sort of behaviour as well, if, hypothetically, he was having an affair and you knew about it.”
“Of course not,” Rosie said immediately.
Freddie was watching him with palpable scepticism. “So, hypothetically, if he did tell you he was having an affair, you’d tell him in no uncertain terms to knock it off and remind him of the devoted wife waiting patiently for him back home?”
Again, Rosie fought for words but ultimately said nothing.
Freddie hummed suspiciously, still watching him closely. “If I do find out Major Crosby was having an affair I’d be most upset with you. You do know that, don’t you, Major Rosenthal?”
Rosie nodded rapidly, eyes wide. “Yes, ma’am.”
“Because I love you an awful lot, but I would hope the man I love wouldn’t support a friend’s adultery.”
“Yes, ma’am. I mean - no, ma’am.” He met her eyes quickly, fleetingly. “I love you too.”
“Right, then,” Freddie replied at length. “You set about organising London and I’ll set about securing leave. And tell Croz next time you see him that I’m looking for him, won’t you, dearest?”
“Yes, ma’am.”
“Good,” Freddie declared, using a hand on his shoulder to press up high enough to kiss his cheek. “Perfect. See you later, my love.”
“Yeah,” Rosie said, smiling sheepishly as he backed out of her office. “See you later.”

spent weeks psyching myself up to stand up to my mum and then immediately got shot down by her 😃👍
#vent incoming i apologise in advance for the long tags#we've lived together just the two of us since dec 2021 (although her boyfriend is here like 2/3 of the time as well)#and since i got my job in march 2022 i have been paying half of all the bills (literally down to like tv license when i barely watch the tv)#which is £300 a month#plus i buy all my own food + pay for the amazon prime she uses + contribute to various household things like toilet roll etc#and she doesn't have a mortgage so i am paying the same amount as her to live in her house#(and it is very much her house not our house)#and I've never been very happy with any of that but never complained either#but then recently it turned out she never set up the water bill when we moved in (it's one of the only bills i didn't sort for us)#so we have a huge backdated bill from dec 2021 and i knew she was going to tell me to pay half#so for the past month or so I've been preparing myself for this conversation and sure enough today she came and said 'we owe £700'#so i was like 'oh i thought maybe it would've been covered by my £300/month' which is the biggest stand I've been able to work myself up to#and she immediately started going on about how i live here too and use water too so it's just as much my responsibility to pay#and how when we're both earning i should be paying my share and i was like yeah i know that's why i never complained about paying before#but also i already pay more than most people would to live with their parents#and she went off about how actually most people charge their grown up kids rent on top of the bills so really i'm lucky i don't have to#(when she got the original £300 figure it was actually rounded up from like £240 to include 'rent' but i wasn't gonna bring that up now)#and in conclusion she doesn't see why she should be subsidising my bills#like i don't know maybe because you're my MOTHER and i am your CHILD who is just starting out in the adult world#and maybe that entitles me to being treated better than some lodger???!!!!!#anyway i paid the bill and now i'm trying and failing at not crying at my desk 😃#talking
