Shout out to @m-o-o-n-s-g-o-o-n-s and @megafrost4 for helping me with my indecisiveness😂 I ended up deciding to just let the reader chose their option, but you guys helped me come up with that! You both were very helpful and I thank you for it!! <3 everyone, go check out moony and Megafrost!
It was night when Mace arrived, gently waking you from your slumber. You had fallen asleep in Hex’s arms as you rested against him while he comforted you over the fallen soldiers. You had learned that half of the men you had made your escape with did not survive the race back, a good amount taken down by the cannon blast that had shaken the ground as you ran. It was disheartening, knowing that they were killed just because they were trying to escape. Hex had held you, providing the limited comfort he could, while you both mourned over his lost brothers. You slowly rose from your spot, holding a hand out to help up Hex. You nodded a thanks to Mace before walking tiredly to your starfighter. Once all your gunships were ready, you took off in your starfighter and led them back to the venator. Once back, you had a quick mission debrief before everyone was allowed go and rest up. The trip back to Coruscant wasn’t long, as you had fallen asleep as soon as you joined the cuddle pile you clones were having.
When you arrived back on Coruscant, you barely had time to step off the ship before a hand grabbed yours and started dragging you to the elevator.
“Thank the maker you’re back,” Ahsoka said as she dragged you along. “We have good news.”
“Good news? Please tell me the decorations arrived.”
“Not just that, but we found a new caterer that agreed to only charge us half their normal price! Oh, and we got some help from your friend, Senator Caree?” You smiled to yourself shaking your head as you imagined Ahnimaka taking one look at the mess that had been your planning, and deciding to fix it herself.
“Well, I’m glad it all came together,” you said as she led you to the room that had been allowed for the event. When you walked in, your breath caught in your lungs. It was better than you had expected. Tables lined the outside edge of the room, and a good size area for mingling and dancing was in the middle. There were tables for food set neatly all around, and a nice area for the live band to play. There was also a karaoke machine, which Ahsoka eagerly pointed out. Helpers were setting up the final decorations, checking to make sure everything was in place for the start in just a few hours.
“This is amazing, Ahsoka. You all did so well!”
“Don’t forget, you helped plan this too,” she said back, though she had a huge smile on her face.
“I’m going to go to my quarters and relax for before the event, but I’ll see you later,” you said while placing a hand on her shoulder. She nodded eagerly and watched you walk off before running over to where Anakin was currently arguing with Padmé over where the last of the decorations should go.
When you entered your room, you immediately kicked off your shoes and flopped onto your couch-only, it wasn’t just couch that you landed on. You jerked your head up to see a slightly startled Echo looking down at you. You held each other’s gaze silently, shock on both of your faces.
“Welcome back,” he said after a few seconds, smiling at you as you sat up.
“Not that I don’t want you here,” you began, “but what are you doing here?” His face went red before he responded, averting his eyes so you couldn’t read them.
“Well, you did say I could stay for a while, and I sorta wanted to wait for you to finish up with the event so I could ask you to go on a date, but then you went on your mission and I thought it might be nice to surprise you when you got back,” he explained.
“So you’ve been waiting here for almost three days?”
“N-no, I went back to the barracks to sleep and shower…but I did wait here quite a bit in my free time.”
“Well, it’s a lovely surprise,” you said before standing up and wandering over to the kitchen.
“What happened here?” You asked as you looked around at the mess. There were pots and bowls everywhere, some raw noodles and spilled powder.
“Oh-Uh…I tried cooking…it didn’t go as planned,” he said from the couch. “I meant to clean it up, but then I kind of fell asleep.”
“What did you try to make?”
“Ebruah…”
“What about the leftovers I had?” You questioned to which no response came.
“Echo, did you eat all that I had left over?” Echo remained silent, and you smiled as you shook your head.
“I tried to make more so you wouldn’t notice,” he finally spoke sheepishly when you walked back over to him.
“Well, let’s see if I would have.”
“No, trust me, you don’t want to try it,” he responded, looking up at you with a serious expression.
“Don’t worry, I’m sure it wasn’t that bad.”
“It was awful.”
“Is there any left over?”
“Yes, but I’m telling you-“ before Echo could finish his sentence, you ran back over to the kitchen and found the leftovers. You heated them up before grabbing a fork and sitting at the table. You motioned him to join you, and he sighed dramatically as he got off the couch, to which you rolled your eyes at.
When he was sitting in front of you, you took a bite. He watched as you kept your face neutral before swallowing and meeting his gaze.
“So?” He asked. You bit the inside of your cheek, eyes darting back to the bowl.
“Now, I would never lie to you-“
“You think it’s awful,” he said, slouching in his chair.
“I think this gives you an excuse to come over to my quarters a lot more,” you suggested. “Can’t get better at cooking without practice.”
“So, you want to have dates where you teach me to cook?”
“Yes! And maybe for a reward when you can make a whole dish by yourself, I’ll let you spend the night,” you said while winking at him. His face immediately went red and you saw him make the slightest shift in his chair.
“S-spend the night?” He questioned, as if he was confirming he heard you correctly.
“Yeah. I’ll even let you sleep in my bed instead of on the couch.”
“In y-your bed? But where would you sleep?”
“In the bed with you, unless you wouldn’t want me to-“
“No no,” he cut you off, “I’d love to sleep with you.” He was silent for a moment before he realized what he said. His eyes widened and his face went even darker.
“I-I mean, not l-like that…well not not like that, but t-that’s not what-“ You reached over the table and covered his mouth with your hand, giggling as you did.
“I know what you meant, Echo.” You assured as you pulled your hand back. “Now, I’m not trying to get rid of you, but the event is in a couple of hours. I was hoping to have some time for myself before.”
“Oh, of course,” he said, getting up from his seat. You walked with him over to your door, where he paused and turned to look at you.
“I’ll see you later?” He asked hopefully.
“Absolutely! And maybe I’ll even let you dance with me,” you teased before you opened the door for him. He waved a goodbye before you went back inside your room, going to clean up in the refresher as you hadn’t gotten the chance since arriving back on Coruscant.
A little while later, there was eager knocking on your door. You went to answer it, revealing an excited Shaak Ti and Aayla standing in the hall.
“Are you ready to prepare for the event?” Shaak Ti asked in her lovely voice.
“Yes! Come in!” You responded, moving to the side to let them enter.
“Maker, I’m so excited!” Shaak Ti said as she laid out her dress.
“Oh my, Shaak Ti that’s gorgeous!” You gasped as you took in the outfit. It was golden with beads sewn into patterns and a mermaid style skirt that would definitely need held while walking to avoid dragging.
“Oh, thank you! I was hoping to have something that would reflect my personality. Strong but sweet and caring.”
“It definitely does just that,” Aayla said. “Fives will lose his mind when he sees you.”
“What does your dress look like, Aayla?” You asked. She smiled as she laid it out for you to see. It was an elegant pastel pink, a slit in the front around mid thigh. It had one strap that held it up and a small gap across the chest.
“Wow, you better be careful Bly doesn’t rip that off of you,” you joke.
“Please, my commander knows how to remove clothes quickly without ruining them.”
“Aayla!” Shaak Ti said, blushing slightly at the insinuation.
“Oh, please. Like you weren’t thinking the same about Fives,” Aayla joked back, causing Shaak Ti to go more red.
“I’m not going to discuss such things right now.” You laughed at her response before they both looked at you.
“Your turn to show us yours!” Aayla said excitedly.
“Okay, but I have two and I haven’t chosen which one yet. I want you to help me chose.” They both nodded, eagerly motioning you to go get the options.
You ran into your room to grab them, bringing them out and looking at their surprised faces.
“Oh, y/n, they’d both look amazing on you!” Shaak Ti praised.
“You’re going to stun everyone there no matter what you wear,” Aayla agreed. You smiled widely as you looked at them again. Having never been one for wearing dresses, you had been immensely thankful when Aleiah had been able to make your visions come to life, only, having both made it hard to chose. One was a purple, almost magenta, with off the shoulder straps, a thigh slit for your right leg. The sweetheart neckline fit right where you were comfortable with it, not too low while not hiding your whole chest. The other was a deep purple, with a mermaid fit that had a gap for your cleavage as it wrapped around your neck instead of having arm straps. It was also very sparkly, and like Shaak Ti’s, it would need picked up while walking.
They both studied the options for a minute, whispering to each other and nodding.
“Okay, we’ve decided,” Aayla spoke.
“We choose that one,” Shaak Ti said. A grin split your face as you looked at their choice. If you were being honest, it was the one you had been leaning towards, but still hadn’t been sure.
“Thank you so much!” You said as you put the other away.
“Sans won’t leave you alone once his eyes find you,” Aayla giggled. Shaak Ti looked at you confusedly before looking back at Aayla.
“Sans?” Shaak Ti questioned.
“Yes, you did say y/n was meeting someone there, didn’t you?”
“Yes, but it’s not Sans,” Shaak Ti said before looking at you.
“Maker, I haven’t told you about him yet, have I?” You said while meeting Aayla’s gaze.
“Told me about who?”
“Y/n’s gotten herself a clone to flirt with,” Shaak Ti teased.
You bit your lip, a grin forming as you shook your head.
“I’m guessing it’s not one of your men, so whose trooper is it?”
“Those 501st men are very charming,” you said while leading them to sit on the couch.
“Not one of Anakin’s troopers!” Aayla said in disbelief. “Y/n, I thought you had better taste. Like, maybe someone in the 212th, or the Wolffepack! But the 501st?”
“Well, I did, but Cody was incredibly resistant to my flirting. Trust me, someone in the 501st wasn’t my first choice, but this clone…” you trailed off, remembering how he was when you first met. He had drawn you in by being confident and flirty, but soon revealed his true, shy and sweet self that you found yourself falling for every time you were together.
“It’s Fives’s best friend,” Shaak Ti added.
“Well, he sounds like trouble then.”
“Oh, no. Echo is nowhere close to being trouble like Fives,” you laughed.
“Echo?” Aayla questioned.
“Yeah, he’s the other ARC-Trooper that survived the Rishi Moon attack alongside Fives.”
“I think Bly told me about him. Something about being a rule boy?”
You laughed slightly, remembering the story of how Echo got his name.
“Yeah, that’s my Echo,” you responded.
“Aww, you said your Echo!” Shaak Ti swooned.
“Shh, I didn’t mean to.”
“But he is yours,” she teased. “Just don’t let Anakin hear you say that.”
“Trust me, Anakin’s already tried to make it clear that Echo is his trooper.”
“He’s Anakin’s trooper, but he’s your lover,” Aayla said while winking at you.
“H-he’s not my lover,” you stuttered out as heat rose to your cheeks.
“Really? Because I’ve heard a lot about you, and you seem like lovers,” Shaak Ti added.
“Alright, enough! No more teasing me!” The Twi’lek and Togruta just laughed before you all began talking about other things, wasting time until you had to get dressed. You each took turns going into the refresher to change. You did your appearance how you thought would look best, and admired yourself in the mirror. You then put on your normal shoes, not being bothered to wear anything fancy and preferring comfort over glam.
“Oh! We need pictures before we leave!” Shaak Ti said before grabbing your cam. She set it up and you all stood next to each other in front of it, taking a serious picture before a funny one.
“Alright, it’s almost time. You guys ready?” You asked, though it wasn’t necessary. You could all feel the excitement in the room like electricity. They nodded eagerly, and you all walked out and headed to the elevators.
“Well, well, what do we have here?” You heard a man ask in a Nautolan accent when you exited the elevators.
“It appears there are three very well dressed ladies that need escorting,” a thick Kel Dorian accent responded. You all rolled your eyes jokingly as Kit and Plo approached you.
“We all know I could best you in a lightsaber duel,” Aayla said to Kit.
“Ahh, but that does not mean you don’t need my escorting,” he said as he smiled and stuck out his arm. She returned the smile and looped her arm through his. Shaak Ti took Plo’s and you were in the middle, taking the other arm of each of the men.
“You all look very lovely tonight,” Plo stated.
“And you two as well,” you added.
“Ah, you don’t need to mention it, y/n. I already know I’m incredibly handsome,” Kit joked as you walked.
“Watch yourself, you don’t want to start sounding like Fives,” Shaak Ti laughed.
“Fives is an honorable man. It would be a compliment to be compared to him.”
“Honorable man,” you snickered, earning a chuckle from Plo and Aayla.
“Are you saying that you disagree with my statement?”
“No, just that it’s not the first thing I would use to describe him.”
“Well, what would you use to describe him, then?”
“Mischievous. Very mischievous.”
“Hmm, I suppose you’re right about that,” Kit laughed.
You felt nerves and excitement bubbling in your stomach as you approached the wide open doors. Clones filled the room from what you could see, some looking more relaxed than others. There was casual mingling music playing that flooded into the halls. From the side of your eye, you caught a few clones doing double takes on your little group, though they were respectful about it. Plo and Kit slipped their arms from the three of you ladies, bowing to you before they walked in the room.
When you walked in, you instantly started to look around at all the same-but-different faces. You recognized a few, but you didn’t keep your eyes on them for long. You were searching for someone in particular.
“Oh! I think I see the boys over there!” Shaak Ti said while pointing. You looked to where she was pointing, and sure enough Echo, Fives, and Bly we’re talking casually, each holding a glass in their hand. You let your eyes trail down Echo’s body from a distance, admiring how he looked in the suit. From where you stood, it looked like he was slightly nervous, holding his glass a little too tightly and not fully present in the conversation he, Fives, and Bly were having.
“Should we go to them or wait for them to find us?” Aayla questioned.
You were about to respond when you felt a hand wrap around your waist and pull you into the person it belonged to.
“My, my, General Jinn. You look absolutely stunning,” Sans said as he looked you up and down.
“Thanks, Sans. You don’t look too bad yourself,” you replied, taking a slight step back from him.
“I must say, you are by far the most beautiful person here,” he said, pulling you back into him.
Normally, you would brush off or play along with Sans’s advancements, but something in you tonight refused to go along. Past conversations of reassuring Echo to not worry about your flirty commander came to your mind before you spoke again.
“Okay, look, Sans,” you said, peeling his hand from your waist and taking a step back, earning a slightly shocked look from him. “Tonight, I’m going to have to ask you to stay in line. I don’t want Echo having any more of a reason to think that he’s not good enough for me, or that I like someone else. I don’t want him to feel like he has to worry about you.” Your face held a look that left no room for argument. What you had said was final, and nothing could change your mind.
“Ah, don’t worry, y/n,” he said, a smile on his lips. “I understand. I won’t stand in the way of you and Echo, but I will get to dance with you at least once tonight,” he said before stepping back.
“Thank you. I’ll see you later,” you said while turning to look and see Aayla and Shaak Ti had already left to meet up with Fives and Bly. You saw them standing with the boys, but noticed Echo was missing. You quickly made your way over, wondering where he had gone.
“Fives, do you know where Echo went?” You asked as you approached them. He looked at Shaak Ti for a second before looking at you, a slightly sympathetic look on his face.
“He saw Sans grab you,” he explained, “I guess he got upset and wandered off. All I know is he went in that direction.” Fives pointed to his side and you nodded, beginning to look around for Echo.
“I really hope she finds him,” Shaak Ti said. “She really does like him.”
“Yeah, but Sans is a very flirty person. I know Echo feels extremely inadequate compared to him.”
Shaak Ti shook her head softly, knowing just how much you admired Echo. She knew that no one, not even Sans, could make you feel the way Echo did. No one would ever steal your heart from him. She hoped that someday you would be able to confine him of that.
Echo talked casually with Fives and Bly, glancing at the entrance every few seconds to see if you had arrived yet. If he was being honest, he was nervous. He didn’t know why, because this wasn’t like a date or anything. You were meeting each other here, and sure, you planned to spend time with each other, and probably dance, but it wasn’t like it was just the two of you, so there was no reason to be nervous. Except maybe he wouldn’t be good at dancing, and maybe he wouldn’t be able to act casually in front of the other Jedi as to remain unsuspecting. He might trip or spill a drink on you, perhaps somehow tear your dress. Worry after worry filled his mind, and the glass in his hand was slightly shaking.
Echo’s thoughts were interrupted by the sound of a glass falling onto the floor, but it wasn’t his. He quickly turned to see Fives’s face, which was complete shock. His mouth hung open and his eyes were stuck ahead of him.
“Maker…” he mumbled, barely able to form the word. Echo looked to see where he was staring, and he almost dropped his own glass when he saw you. He didn’t even know if there were words to describe how incredible you looked. Bly was the only one who seemed to be able to form a thought, as he was the first to speak.
“Well, shall we go over there?” He asked his brothers.
“Yeah yeah, hold on a second,” Fives said, still mystified by Shaak Ti. “I need to just…look at her.”
“Is this what he was like the first time he saw her?” Bly asked Echo.
“Wha-huh?” Echo said, shaking his head out of his trance. “Oh, uh, yeah, he was pretty speechless.” Bly rolled his eyes at the two awestruck clones.
“It’s almost as if you two have never seen a woman before,” he said before beginning to walk over, Fives quickly snapping out of it and following him. Echo was about to join them as well until he saw what happened next.
His steps faltered and stopped as he saw Sans’s hand wrap around your waist and pull you into him. He saw Sans’s eyes as he let them roam over your body, how he was absolutely infatuated by you. He didn’t want to, but Echo couldn’t help but watch sadly as Sans seemingly began to charm you. Finally tearing his eyes away, he let his shoulders fall slightly as he turned away, heading towards a small exit that he knew led outside.
That was the one worry that had managed to evade his mind until it was too late. Sans would be here, and would be standing in his way. Sans would find you first, and hold onto you for the rest of the night. If you happened to leave with someone, it wouldn’t be Echo, it would be Sans. Sans was his biggest worry.
Once he was alone, Echo sat down on a bench and let out a sigh. All those times you had told him not to worry about Sans came flooding back to him. Was he ridiculous for leaving like he did? Did he truly have nothing to worry about? He looked up at the sky before noticing movement off to the side. He turned his head to see Sans walking towards him, a small smile on his face.
“Hey, Echo,” he said, hesitantly sitting next to him. “I’m guessing you saw what happened in there?” Echo nodded, silent as he kept his eyes trained to the ground in front of him.
“I want to apologize.”
“Apologize?” Echo asked, caught slightly off guard by this.
“Yeah, I’ve been kind of…well, overstepping it with y/n. I know what you mean to each other, and I’ve been very inconsiderate of it.” Sans turned his face away from Echo, taking a deep breath before he continued.
“I’ve never intended to hurt you, or seem like I’m getting in the way. It’s just…I fell for her the second I laid eyes on her, and I haven’t stopped loving her since. The more I’m with her, the more I fall. And I know you understand how I feel,” he said, looking back at Echo while he added the last part. It was Echo’s turn to look away, not wanting to see Sans’s conflicted expression.
“Now, I want you to know something. I’m going to try my hardest to give you and y/n the respect you deserve, but I need you to also understand something. I can’t stop loving her, and I don’t want to. I will respect your boundaries, but I will still have my feelings for her. I will never stop being by her side when she needs me, but I will let you be there first. I swear, I will not stop protecting her until the day I die, but I will let you be the one she needs most.”
Echo studied the look in Sans’s eyes, and he knew he was serious. He really did love you, but because he loved you, he was willing to let you be happy with someone else.
“Thank you, Sans. That means a lot,” Echo said while meeting his gaze. Sans smiled, nodding towards the door.
“I think there’s someone looking for you inside,” he said. Echo smiled as he stood up, waving goodbye to Sans as he left him outside on the bench.
You saw him slip back in the door and immediately began making your way to him. He hadn’t noticed you yet, so when you gently grabbed his hand, Echo jumped slightly before his eyes found you.
“Hey,” you said, looking at him.
“Hello, darling,” he replied before pulling you into a hug.
“I’m sorry about Sans-“
“Don’t worry about it,” he said as he pulled back. You furrowed your brows as he had a smile on his lips. “He already apologized. He’s a good man, y/n. I’m glad you have someone like him to protect you in battle.”
“Please,” you said rolling your eyes, “I protect him more than he protects me.” Echo chuckled, taking a step back to look at you up close. You felt his eyes as they studied you, watching as different emotions danced in them. You swore you even saw a flash of hunger for a second.
“You look gorgeous tonight,” he said as he brought his eyes back up to yours.
“And you look incredibly handsome,” you responded. You took the opportunity to look at him as well, noting the pins and medals on his suit.
As you looked at Echo, you couldn’t help the hungry look that came to your own eyes.
“Do you want to grab something to eat?” He asked, drawing your eyes back to his.
“No, I’m not hungry right now.”
“Really? Because you look pretty hungry to me,” he said while smirking, his hand holding a little tighter on your waist.
“I could say the same about you,” you shot back teasingly.
“Hmmm, maybe I am…”
You watched as his eyes flicked to your lips before he licked his own. You felt a slight heat rush to your cheeks before your lips began to slightly part.
Echo leaned in, whispering softly in your ear.
“You do look ravishing tonight, darling,” Echo mumbled. You felt a wave of flutters in your core at the sound of his voice, deep and close to you. He pulled back only to look at you again, that smug look still plastered on his face. You began to reach up, wanting to pull him into you.
“Aunty y/n!” You heard two little voices call from off to your side. You turned your head and pulled your arms down as you watched Ringo and Tayah run over to you.
“My little twins! How’s Jedi training going?” You asked, bending to pick Tayah up while Ringo bounced excitedly next to you.
“It’s awesome! I can’t wait till I get a lightsaber of my own!” Ringo stated joyfully.
“I miss mama and papa,” Tayah said in your arms. You looked at her sympathetically, running your thumb down her cheek.
“It’s going to be hard, but you’ll be able to get by, I promise,” you said to her. “And as for you, young man, you won’t be getting a lightsaber for while.”
“Awww,” he said, slumping his shoulders in a pout. Echo chuckled while watching, enjoying seeing you interact with the kids.
“Who are you?” Tayah asked, pointing to him.
“My names Echo. I’m an ARC-Trooper under General Anakin Skywalker of the 501st,” he said while smiling softly at her.
“Anakin? Isn’t that Padmé’s husband?” Ringo questioned, to which your eyes widened.
“Shh! We don’t talk about that in public, remember?” You said quickly, checking to make sure no one around noticed the little slip.
He clamped his hand over his mouth, mumbling a “sorry,” from underneath it.
“It’s fine, just be careful.” You set Tayah down before she walked over to Echo.
“Are you going to be our uncle someday?” She asked, looking between you and Echo.
Your face flushed in embarrassment while Echo looked shocked, then smug.
“Well, that is the plan, little one,” he said while winking at you. Tayah giggled before she walked back over to her brother.
“Look! Aunty y/n’s blushing!” Ringo said.
“Okay, go on, you two. You’ve been nosy enough,” you said while shooing them away. They both giggled before waving and running across the room, finding someone else to pester, which happened to be an unsuspecting Ahsoka.
“Do you think you’d want kids someday?” Echo asked, watching as they left.
“I haven’t thought much about it, if I’m being honest. I don’t think I would mind having them, though.”
“Well, I think we would make a cute mix,” he said, smirking at you. You opened your mouth to respond but were interrupted by someone clearing their throat.
“Excuse me, you must be ARC-Trooper Echo,” an all too familiar voice said. Echo turned to looked at the person it had come from. His expression had some curiosity in it as he took in the Mon Calamari that had approached him.
“Yes, sir, I am.”
“I don’t believe we’ve met. My name is Codo Daawa, Jedi master,” he said while extending a hand. “I’ve heard a lot about you.”
“You have, sir?”
“Yes, indeed. Y/n here has told me many stories about you. She told me all about when she first met you as well.”
“Codo,” you warned, giving him a look.
“Ah, my child, don’t worry. I won’t say anything you don’t like.”
“You said you were Codo Daawa?” Echo questioned.
“Yes, I am. Have you heard about me as well?”
“I have, actually. Lots about you.”
“Then you know what I am like to y/n, I presume?”
Echo suddenly straightened a bit more, going slightly formal in front of your former master.
“U-uh, yes sir. You’re like a father, sir.”
“You didn’t tell me he says ‘sir’ so much,” Codo said to you.
“He usually doesn’t,” you say, resting a hand on Echo’s arm. “You can relax, Codo is less harmful to you than Anakin.”
“That’s a relief,” he joked.
“Yes, I’d much rather embarrass y/n than make you nervous around me,” Codo laughed.
“Oh, wow. Thanks,” you said while rolling your eyes.
“Well, if I am to be like a father to you, I have to play the part.”
“You can skip the embarrassing me part,” you shot back.
“Actually, I think I’d quite like to hear some embarrassing stories about you,” Echo laughed.
“Oh, I could tell you about the time on Onderon when she-“
“Enough!” You said, throwing eye daggers at Codo which only made him chuckle.
“I’ll leave you two alone to enjoy the night, I just thought it was about time I met you, Codo said while waving at you two.
“Think we’ll be interrupted again?” Echo asked after Codo was out of earshot.
“More than likely,” you laughed.
“You ever going to tell me what happened on Onderon?” He teased.
“Never,” you said while giving him a serious look, only making him laugh more.
You spent the rest of the night with each other, dancing and talking to friends. You watched as Fives sang a love song on the karaoke machine, not so subtly hinting that it was about Shaak Ti, but of course she didn’t mind. You saw Aayla quickly dragging Bly out of the room as it got late, Bly sending a cheeky grin to one of his squad mates on the way out. You ended up having a dance with Sans, and then Steele demanded that he got a turn, and of course Hex was the most polite when asking out of the three of them. At one point, Echo nudged you and gestured to Anakin and Padmé, who were attempting to have a sneaky kiss in a corner, to which you both laughed at. Ahsoka forced Rex to dance, although the poor clone had two left feet and kept stumbling everywhere. Echo ended up saving him many times, having to abandon you mid-dance to keep Rex from hitting the floor.
After a while, you began to feel exhausted, and Echo noticed quickly.
“Maybe I should take you back to your quarters now. You’re beginning to stumble around like Rex trying to dance,” he laughed, only slightly joking.
“Mmm but I’m having fun!” You said before stifling a yawn, causing him to laugh again.
“Come on, darling. You need to rest.”
“Fineeeeee,” you grumbled, letting him lead you out of the room. You walked quietly down the halls, just enjoying each other’s presence. You leaned into his shoulder in the elevator, only lifting your head when he began to move when you reached your floor. He opened your door for you when he reached your room, still holding you as you walked in. You turned to look at him and smiled drowsily, sleep attempting to take over.
“You’re cute when you’re tired,” he mumbled, watching your eyes attempt to roll but closing halfway through. “I’ll let you get to bed, darling.” He slowly let go of you before turning, but he stopped when he felt you grab his arm. He looked back to meet your gaze, now shy and cautious.
“Stay with me?” You whispered, looking up at him through your lashes. He couldn’t help how he was completely entranced by you right now. Your sleepy state, the slightly pleading look in your eyes, it was all too much to resist.
“I don’t have anything to sleep in,” he tried as an excuse to leave, though he didn’t really want one.
“Don’t worry, I have some clothes you could wear. I-if you want. You don’t have to stay, though.” You looked down, slight color coming to your cheeks.
“That would be wonderful. I’ll change in the refresher?” His response made you snap your head back up, not quite believing you had heard him right.
“O-okay! I’ll go get them!” You quickly ran into your room, pulling out the spare clothes you always kept in case one of your troopers came to visit. You walked back out and handed them to Echo, who smiled at you before going to change. You shut your bedroom door and changed into your own pjs as well, and when you opened your door, you saw Echo laying on the couch.
“No no, you’re not sleeping there,” you said, walking over and pulling him up.
“A-are you sure?” He said, this time him being nervous.
“Yes, I want cuddles,” you said, pulling him into your bedroom. You closed the door behind you out of habit, and sat on your bed. He stood awkwardly before you patted the spot beside you. He slowly made his way over and sat down, internally gushing over how comfortable a real bed was. You reached over and grabbed Marvin, showing him to Echo. He chuckled and took the stuffed porg from you before watching you lay down. He hesitantly joined you, putting Marvin to the side. You scooted closer to him, and he slipped his arms around you. It was as if you two had held each other like this a million times before, the way your bodies molded together effortlessly. He leaned his cheek on the top of your head and you nuzzled into him, taking in his familiar scent. His warmth flooded your body, making you the perfect temperature to fall into a deep sleep. Before you completely crashed, you muttered out one last thing.
“Goodnight, Echo.”
“Goodnight, darling,” he responded, pressing a kiss to your head.
