note: got a request for sub!shuri headcanons and i came up with a very long list of things. it is no surprise that i love sub!shuri so obviously i got carried away hehe as i always do. there's still wayy more in my google docs but these were my favs. i just love the idea of pampering her and taking care of her because she is my baby girl!! enjoy mwah mwah!!

GOOD MORNING!! Sorry that this is so late, my professor assigned some super hard assignments smh🙏 I honestly find it very interesting to think about the bsd characters in some vampire au so ty for this ask:3

I don’t normally write for Fukuchi but because this is just a small blurb I figured why not! Bram is also different from the others, as his doesn’t take place in an au and instead takes place in canon. Everyone else’s takes place in an au where their vampirism has a completely different set of rules from Bram’s!! You won’t become mindless if they bite you ty

I feel like Fukuchi has the most control out of any of them? He doesn’t really bite you often because he feels like it’s immoral. He’s already committing enough immoral crimes that completely go against everything him and his image stand for. He’s a war hero after all, why would he want to hurt more people than he already has to, especially when hurting you isn’t even going to save anyone. The only real exception would be if he was quite literally starving, and if you’re in poor health? Forget it. He’s never biting you. He would never bite you recreationally, it would only be if he was hiding from another organization and hadn’t eaten in multiple days.

If he were to bite you though, it wouldn’t be very different. He is a man with a lot of willpower and control. He’s able to control himself better than anyone else on this list, in all honesty. He’ll drink the amount he needs to be sustained, then he’s finished. No more no less.

He would enjoy eating nice meals, like perfectly cooked steak, or other things similar. He wouldn’t be very fond of roadkill, because he has the funds to eat at 5 star restaurants pretty much every day. Why eat things he sees on the side of the road?

Bram is similar in the sense that he has self control. He’s aware of the fact that if he were to bite you, you’d be subjected to becoming nothing more than a mindless, blood sucking creature. That isn’t what he wants from you. He wants to be with you for the rest of his days, even if he knows it isn’t realistic because you’re merely human. He’ll try to simply come to terms with the fact he won’t have you for very long, but it’ll only take him maybe 4 months after he’s gotten his body back for him to go on the hunt for something that can make him human, or safely turn you into a vampire. He’s aware of the page because of Fukuchi, and it’s his number one goal to get a hold of it now. He’d prefer to get it by teaming up with whoever is in possession of it, but if that doesn’t work out, he isn’t afraid to take a more villainous approach. Anything to keep you.

In terms of biting you, he never has because he knows what will happen. But oh god has he fantasized about it. It’s all he thinks about. You’d look so pretty with his fangs in your neck.

He didn’t really eat much before he got his body, only being fed whenever Fukuchi had someone he wanted turned, but that didn’t happen much until the vampirism outbreak. Now that he’s gotten his body back, he doesn’t bite people as one, he would feel unfaithful to you, even if nothing became of it and it was purely for feeding. He also wants to make a conscious effort to be good for Aya’s sake. He eats food you make for him. He doesn’t really like going out in public often, so he allows you to cook for him. You’ve made plenty of meals with blood in them, like animals, but you’ve also introduced him to other types of food, and even if they serve him no nutritional value, he finds them delicious.

Fyodor would love to bite you. If you’re just another pawn on his comically large chess board, then he’ll drink your blood with no real intent of giving you anything in return. Sure, he’ll toss you a rag, but you have to clean yourself off! He’s so horrible. If he cares about you, however, he is strangely tender. He has a sense of self control, but sometimes he gets so desperate for your blood he can’t help himself! He’ll hold you down and nibble into your shoulder. He likes biting your shoulder a strange amount. He can’t explain it, it’s just a nice, convenient spot to bite. This is why he loves it when you wear tops with thin or no straps. Makes for east access! Also let’s not forget that this man is anemic. He’d like to bite you to help get his iron levels up, so at least him constantly asking for you to let him bite you has some practical use? If you say no to him biting you, he’ll respect it. He cares about you, he wouldn’t do anything against your will. You’re the light of his life, after all. You’re perfection, therefore, what you say goes.

Whenever Fyodor does bite you, he’s quite literally on top of you, straddling you. He likes the power it gives him, even if in your opinion, he looks rather pathetic biting you while literally straddling you and trembling from how good you taste. He also likes to bite you from the back sometimes. He’ll walk up behind you, hugging you and swaying from side to side before grazing his fangs over your shoulder, awaiting your permission. He is capable of pacing himself, but if he begins ti notice you're getting dizzy more frequently, or you're getting woozy while he's biting you, he'll stop and clean up your bite, wordlessly cleaning you up and cuddling you.

He also likes to eat fine dining. Nothing can quite compare to the taste of your blood, but there are some fair substitutes. He will drink your blood whenever the opportunity presents itself, but he'll also take the two of you out to a nice restaurant and let you order whatevee you please, while he'll order something simple and bloody.

Nikolai is certainly the most strange when it comes to his behaviors. When he bites you he’ll take the blood left over and wipe it on your cheek or something weird like that😭 he also likes biting you in weird places because he finds it funny?? Like he’ll nibble on your fingertips and shit just for funzies?? Similarly to Fyodor, he would bite you whenever given permission. He doesn’t try to limit himself, if you give him permission, why stop? He’d treat you like fine dining. You’re sweet and yummy and Nikolai can’t get enough of it! If you were to tell him no, say that you don’t want him to bite you, he’d roll his eyes playfully but agree. He obviously wouldn’t want you to leave him because he bit you without asking! Then he wouldn’t be able to drink your yummy blood anymore. He also does care about what you have to say, even if he doesn’t admit it because he feels like it makes him seem less free.

As I said earlier, he likes biting weird obscure places, like your fingertips. He’ll lean down like a gentleman and kiss the top of your hand, slowly trailing down and kissing your knuckles, then your fingertips, before finally nibbling your finger tips. As he kisses you he places him hands on your stomach to press you down onto the nearest couch or bed, so you’ll be sitting up comfortably while he leans ahead of you. He also likes biting places like your collarbones, arms, etc. as much as he likes biting in weird obscure places, the neck is nice too. It’s simple, but affective.

He pretty much only drinks your blood..he’ll go a few days without eating (luckily vampires can last sufficiently longer without food that normal humans can), so once you’ve rebuilt your energy he can drink your blood again. Rinse and repeat that process over and over again, and you’ve got Nikolai’s eating habits. He’s also a messy eater..there will be blood pretty much dripping from wherever he bit you when he’s done so he can wipe it on your face or body.

We’ve already talked about Sigma a fair amount, but I’m down to cover the basics. He loves to bite you, in fact nothing can quite compare. He’ll bite you and once he’s done he has this appreciative look on his face. He loves that you’re willing to let him bite you, but he also feels bad. He tends to space out when he bites you, and he prefers biting you in places that have more fat so it hurts less. He’s already a thigh guy but he especially loves biting you there.. your neck is also a good spot to bite though. It’s a little more painful for you, though, so he tends to not bite you there often.

When he’s finished biting you he’ll just lick up the blood, and get a towel. If you’re too tired he’ll just set you down and take a bath with you, bandaging up wherever he bit you. If you’re not, he’ll treat you real good to make up for it. He may love biting you, but somehow, seeing how you’re attached to him at the hip, clinging onto him for the rest of the day is even more satisfying. He finds it cute.

He loves eating stuff you make for him and stuff from nice restaurants, and despite the fact nothing can quite compare to you, he knows he can’t realistically drink your blood every day. You’d get sick, and not to mention it would cause a lot of swelling and bruising. He’d rather space it out.

I was tempted to make this sufficiently more nsfw, but I decided to refrain from anything sexual outside of biting as I didn’t wanna deviate from the original prompt too much..

About the whole "Fyodor-switch personality" thing: We don't have enough information to confirm whether it was real or fake right now, and besides, both possibilities are really interesting.

If the switch was real and Fyodor was lying to cover it up (...because 'you know characters can lie, right' could mean... this part of it was the lie too...), that could easily be made a reference to Dostoevsky's The Double, as I was kindly made aware of. We've also already had an image of a young woman who looks like Aya from potentially a long time ago, given the outfit and that it is Bram's memory we're presumably seeing there, which may tie in interestingly with "what year is it?" The knife he pulled out also is genuinely a unique design for the series, and looks like it might be an old make. If this original is very old, then something in the takeover of personalities may explain why he hasn't seemed to age. Fyodor being a separate personality created from his ability and kicking out the original could tie in with his ability not attacking him in Dead Apple. This also raises more questions about Fyodor's motives, and I think opens the path for some pretty fascinating theory making. It also places Fyodor as something both human and not... intriguing for the ongoing theme of humanity in the series.

If the switch was a fake and Fyodor was being a completely hilarious little shit (which, we know the Joker is part of his inspiration and he is often contrasted with Dazai, Nikolai, and Mori, for whom this kind of behaviour would be expected - it's characterization, that's not 'done for no reason'), it would quite possibly be the funniest thing he's done in the series so far. But! More importantly, it strengthens Fyodor's connection with the Book (or rather, with altering the narrative). He's told a lie that sounds completely ridiculous but makes sense given the world and situation he's in - and notably, could fool Sigma... and the readers. Fyodor also managed to change the lightness of his eyes without changing the state of his soul - something that no other character seems to be able to do. (I know Dazai can feign the shocked expression, but that's not the clear lightness we saw in Fyodor's eyes in this panel. Nikolai's eyes change lightness but that actually seems to be genuine.) While this doesn't help us discern anything more about Fyodor's motives, it does emphasize his expertise at information manipulation - we cannot trust a single thing this character says, not just in universe, but out of it too. We, the readers, cannot listen to Fyodor and take anything he says as supporting evidence for theories. If this is true - that's fascinating. The other characters will have to solve the mystery of this man completely indirectly, and so will we.

Of course, there is the secret third option: it was a lie mostly, but there is an element of truth to it somewhere, which is actually par for the course for BSD as a whole. It is very rare that a character turns out to be lying completely. The question then becomes "what part is true and how much is it true", which is also very compelling. This, personally, is what I'm ascribing to for now until new info comes up.

Anyways, the last thing I wanted to point out is that if it was genuine, then remember The Double was inspired by Hohol's works, and if it was a lie, then that is very similar to the bait-and-switch performances that Nikolai has done multiple times in the series. Either way, it implies some influence on Fyodor by Nikolai and of course vice versa, which probably means the return of the clown (finally!) and more focus on their dynamic, which is a funny thing to show Nikolai having apparently had influence on Fyodor (even if in more of a meta way) as he is actively trying to kill him right now.

Love wins/loses?

Realistically thinking about recent bsd chapters

So people have been so delulu over the new chapters so I'm gonna do some realistic thinking. Most of the characters that have "died" will most likely survive. I feel like the only reason Asagiri would kill off Dazai is to add some major character development to Atsushi, and any other character who knew him. It's still entirely possible Dazai will indeed die, but a small chance. Sigma is a character I feel is entirely possible to kill off. The reasons he would die is 1, to keep Fyodor's ability a well-kept secret, 2, because he's Asagiri's favorite. I feel like it's a 50/50 chance if Sigma lives or dies. Aya next. Knowing how Asagiri writes, I feel like Aya will survive this. There's a few different possibilities I've thought of since she's one of my favorite characters. 1; She will die, get turned into a vampire, and then be alive again when the vampirism is cured. It's highly unlikely all the vampires will die. There's no way Asagiri would kill off THAT many characters/people. 2; She will gain an ability before death. Seeing as a lot of our characters focused on do have abilities, combined with the fact she is still quite young, could mean she does have an ability and just doesn't know about it, which is entirely possible seeing as Atsushi didn't know about his ability. 3, the least likely one, Bram will save her just before she hits the ground. As soon as he regenerates his limbs, he could possibly save her. It's unlikely, but still possible. I'd do theories on how Dazai could survive, but there's plenty of those out there already. Now onto the vampires, I personally don't think there's a possibility that the vampires will die once the vampirism is over. There's WAY too many characters as vampires, plus, a ton of other people around the world are vampires. There's no way that many people will be killed off. Plus, both Atsushi and Dazai have tried to "wake up" vampires from their vampire state, they didn't succeed, but that implies that it's possible. Another reason is Francis said in season four that he always sides with the winners, and the Detective Agency will win this. This could indeed be incorrect, but I've chosen to take it as foreshadowing. Moving on, the agency members. Fukuzawa is most likely going to die. There's just no way I can see him surviving, except Yosano coming to save him, but we don't even know where she currently is. Tanizaki and Kunikida, I personally believe they will survive. Fukuchi has no current reason to kill them that I'm aware of, correct me if I'm wrong though, it's been a while since I've read the manga in extreme detail. Ranpo, he'll probably survive, he's so far only been stabbed in the hand and knocked unconscious. I'm pretty sure he's just laying unconscious on the road somewhere. Atsushi, we saw in chapter 110 that he's about to become a vampire, but it's possible the table will fall on Akutagawa or something like that. IF Atsushi DOES become a vampire, which is unlikely but still possible considering the amount of times authors have turned the main character into the thing they're fighting (ex, Demon Slayer where Tanjiro states "If I ever do become a demon, I trust someone in the corps will behead me for the greater good. DEMON SLAYER MANGA SPOILERS; Then at the end he becomes a demon and is cured later on.) it is still possible for Atsushi to become a vampire and be saved later on. We haven't seen much of the Port Mafia so I won't be saying much about them. But I will talk about Chuuya. SO, I feel like Chuuya is somewhat conscious. AND the gun he has, I'm pretty sure he showed up with. That can lead to all the theories about how Dazai will survive, which I will not be getting into today, maybe another day though. I personally am really hoping for Verlaine to show up. The "storm" he's waiting for in Stormbringer could be the apocalypse or something similar. It's implied he can still manipulate gravity, but just not as well/long as before. Even without his gravity powers, he still is the King of Assassins, and the person who trained Gin, Kyouka and many, many others.

Seeing how skilled those two are, having only been trained by Verlaine, we can assume how powerful Verlaine is, even without his gravity manipulation. Another theory, way less likely, is Kyuusaku (Q) making their reappearance. We don't know what happened to them after season two, so for all we know, they're alive somewhere, perhaps back at the Port Mafia, or living their life somewhere. They stand a pretty high chance at beating Fukuchi once and for all. They, however, have no motivations to fight him. They love chaos, which is exactly what is happening. BUT, they seemed to have a character change when John tortured them in season two, so perhaps they'll not even care and just fight him for fun, or to add even more chaos to this. Also, in an interview, Asagiri mentioned teaming up Tetchou and Jouno as rivals later on, so I'm excited to see how he goes along with that.

TLDR; Most characters will probably survive, with the exception of maybe Sigma, Fukuzawa, and Dazai(?). Atsushi probably won't become a vampire, Aya will probably get an ability. Detective Agency will probably win.

Thoughts on Gin and Kunikidarling?

Gin I absolutely adore and wish we could see more. I'm constantly impressed by Gin. I talk about how much I love Gin a bit here but I can definitely go more in depth. We don't see a lot of Gin in the canon, honestly. But we know she doesn't have an ability. We also know she's a Black Lizard commander. Not just... some kid in the mafia, but a commander. And a highly skilled assassin in her own right. Like. Trained-by-Verlaine assassin. You don't get a command position in the mafia by being a one trick pony. Gin can strategize, lead a group, and is fully operable for stealth solo missions, hence the whole assassin bit. She's respected. I also think its kind of interesting how different her role is compared to her brother, who is more... flashy, comparatively. They come from quite similar backgrounds, other than Ryuunosuke having an ability, but Gin seems much more confident and assured in her skillsets. I just think she's really neat.

Beast Gin is really cool, too. She's one of the characters that seems the most different between the two universes, which is kind of interesting considering she's in the mafia in both. However Beastzai seems to have recognized the incredible skillsets Gin possessed in the original universe, and saw how all the same things that make Gin a good commander (strategy, independent thinking, etc) and assassin (remaining under-the-radar and nondescript while still constantly aware) make her a good secretary to the boss. Her talents are recognized as intrinsically useful and necessary in both universes. Like... if she was only useful to motivate Ryuunosuke, she could have just been anywhere in the mafia, kept under watch. But she's given an important position, because its an absolute waste not to. I think we should talk about how capable Gin is more because she kicks serious ass in every skillset and also because I just think she's cool.

As for Kunikida, all that needs to be said is that i'm in love with him. Of course i'll say more anyway though. Because I love him. Mr. "While we are an Armed Detective Agency." We joke about Kunikida being rigid and uptight in all such things with his carefully laid out schedule in his little book that operates his life, but when you get down to it Kunikida really is pretty adaptive. Whatever wrench is thrown in his plans, he always responds and takes action immediately, which I think is pretty admirable. Sure, he'd probably like to stay on schedule, but he's quick to recognize when things are simply not going to go his way and he needs to adapt. Like, you know, getting his ability ripped out of him by a fog and having to instead fight his way back to the agency to figure out what the hell is going on. Kunikida is constantly constantly proving how resourceful he is. He can have whatever he wants when he needs it with his ability, but is also still incredibly limited considering what he has. And while he's always ready for a fight and quite talented at it, he never jumps to anything that will do lasting damage. I'll always find the way he tends towards that grapple gun interesting and all the ways he can use it.

There's also Kunikida's tendency towards just kind of... making sure people are cared for, and taking responsibility for things he was involved in (whether it should be his responsibility or not). Case in point being Rokuzo, the boy from the Azure Messenger arc, that Kunikida had been basically providing for on the side because he felt bad about being involved in the case that killed his dad. He'd all but adopted the boy before Nobuko killed Rokuzo. (Hey, how much of the bit with Aya in the subway tunnel do you think felt like a flashback to Rokuzo for Kunikida? Poor guy has seen this happen too many times. Just let him adopt kids in peace.) He checks in on Katai, too. Once you're under Kunikida's protection just once, it kind of seems like that's a for-life deal, and I think that's a really neat aspect of him. Another way of looking at it kind of feels like his work is his life, but that work is not limited to the Detective Agency. Its his ideals coming through. I like him.

Ramadan Challenge 2024, Day 3

Day 3: What is your favorite act of worship? Has it always been your favorite?

Fasting tatawu' and sadaqa, hands down.

I love the personal quality of volunteering to fast extra days. Fasting Ramadan is already plenty blessed, but from a young age I especially liked the various hadiths about fasting additional days, be it Mondays & Thursdays or the three white days. Fast three days a month and you've fasted the whole year? Yes please!?

A lot of worship is symbolic and not really about what you're doing, but about everything else around it, and to me, volunteering to fast is like that. It's not going through the motions, it's the intention, which is really what counts anyway. Alhamdulillah I'm grateful I got to fast a lot when I was younger, because things have gotten a lot harder post-covid. I'm hopeful we'll swing back around and I'll get to do it again.

As for sadaqa… again this is personal to me, I grew up very aware that people are in different socioeconomic classes. Some of my cousins were kids of actual millionaires, with diamond-encrusted watches as teenagers, while others were living six people in a backyard trailer, and everything in between. I grew up as something I came to call "fake poor"-- we weren't really poor, but my foundational years were during a rough few years, for a bunch of legitimate reasons, so I lived "poor" for the main part of my childhood. Our situation got better when I was in high school, but when you grow up poor (or thinking you're poor because you don’t know any better), that gets ingrained in you.

These two ayas are the reason I started giving sadaqa as soon as I had my own salary. Because I was very aware of what it was like to have or not have the money you need to do things for yourself, and I'd seen a range of examples in my family. Whatever I saved was precious to me, which is exactly why it's meaningful for me to give from that.

We have a local saying that goes "money is the filth of dunya" and that's even more reason to take out that trash!

Similarly since covid, things have become quite tight financially, so now that's how we've been living. I'm used to tightening the belt, but the difference between now and my childhood is now I'm the one making the financial decisions. And when things are this hard, you find out who you can really trust. People who I thought I could rely on turned out to be, well, allahuma inni saima. Others surprised me with their kindness and generosity.

When I was giving sadaqa when I was younger, I didn't have in mind some kind of karmic quid pro quo. But being on the receiving end now, I believe even more that the system works. Every little bit really does help.

Progress Update:

Hey! It's been a wild week, but don't think I'm just sitting on my hands!

So far, I've gotten most of the characters vetted and confirmed. I'm still trying to figure out what I should do about the many 1-vote submissions. I'm most likely going to sort through them and do some form of preliminaries. It's gonna be quite a bit though, as of the 300+ submissions for the 128 slots, only about 50 or so were characters with more than 1 vote. As such, I'm likely going to first be handling characters from franchises that have more than 3 representatives, and then go to like IPs. I need to check how many that will get us, and then move from there. It's gonna be getting about 78 characters from around 100~ submissions, so it's just removing a few.

Thank you for your long and thoughtful response to the ask I sent in earlier. ; w; (I'm the one who sent the super long ask in asking about late stage recovery.)

It's really reassuring to me that there can still be that sense of supporting one another. I couldn't quite put it into words before, but I think that and knowing we've got each other's backs and we can always count on that, is the thing that most scares me to think about the possibility of losing. I wasn't sure that could still exist if we were ever to fuse. I don't wanna emotion dump in your inbox so I'll leave it at that lol but when you were talking about that part I was like... yeah, that's what I most needed to know. I needed to know that our ability to express care for each other when it's needed wouldn't be lost. So the possibility of fusion someday, doesn't feel as scary anymore -- even if it's not the direction we currently want to go.

Yeah no I totally get it cause that was one of the largest things that terrified me about fusion as well. Growing up we really never had a single adult or family member in our life around to console or care for us and through a lot of therapy and work, our system became very much a family first and foremost that we've learned to realize that we have always had in spite our "real physical" family having not been there. By the time we were developing pretty reliable communication, I began really forgetting that my biological family was my ""actual family"" as I always thought of my parts as my dad, siblings, etc whenever topics like that came up and I'd always have to double take say at the idea that "I don't have a brother". (We only have two sisters, but our system has so many parts that feel like brothers to me so whenever I think about that I'm like 'tf i have like 40 brothers') So the idea of no longer being chronically separate parts scared me shitless cause - for the first time in my life - I felt I had a family and so it was really fucking hard to fathom final fusion without coming to this idea that I'd have to feel alone again.

And cause we were raised feeling very alone in our family for most of our life that was an extremely stressful and triggering feeling after having FINALLY earned and recovered a sense of companionship and belonging with the 'people' that have always been with my my whole life that I had just not been able to be fully aware of and in full acknowledgement of.

And of course, I'm not saying that "YOU WILL LOOSE IT" cause obviously *motions to previous post* it's really hasn't turned out that way - just really saying that its such a real and understandable fear to have. In the moment its kind of like imagining a color that doesn't exist and so you try to imagine it with what you know and its just... hard to put together until you start to get closer to that place in time and life.

But yeah, I will say with a full gut and 100% confidence upon all parts, never once - no matter how little I focus on the parts and just look at the whole or identify as a whole singular person - do I ever feel alone or like my parts that I love and care dearly for that love and care dearly for me are ever NOT here. Never once have I ever felt like I was on my own or that I didn't have anyone internally there to protect, care, support, or love me. Even in the most "zoomed out" whole moments, I never for a second loose that warm, caring intimate relationship I've had with all the parts.

And in the case of "I" - "I" means that it is something that every part agrees on in regards to every other part they've interacted with. Riku, Chunn, XIV, Ray, Lucille, Aderis, Evaline, Aya, Eva, Iris etc etc. Most of the times when I say "I" as Fei, its because it is just something I know is a system wide shared consensus and thing we agree on.

It kinda just sometimes feels like a really big big big group hug or like us all bundling up in a really cozy tent or those little rainbow parachute games they used to play in elementary school where everyone just goes under the parachute

It's honestly a really good time. I've had zero regrets and honestly lately, like the past like week straight, I've been mostly just choosing to mainly be in a state of Fei just so I can enjoy life transitions a little better as a whole and keep a wider view on how to meet our system's needs best cause for those sorts of decisions and all, having a wide lens on life and existence helps a lot more.

That said, I can still grab anyone and everyone and go "YOU - YOUR TURN" and what not (which we do for brief periods here or there, particularly in favorites activites like writing / drawing / DnD making with Riku and exercising with XIV and walks with Chunn)

got bored so here’s a gods au

altaïr: was an egotistical god that only did as he pleased and only did the right thing because he had to or no one would worship him, at the same time he believed himself to always be right. stereotypical ares at first but later gains wisdom. The Apple of Eden is his signature symbol, hence like a mix of athena and ares, he becomes a symbol of freedom and wisdom

God of Wisdom - in all areas of life like philosophy and relationships, especially strategic war

ezio: like hermes. he can be funny and strong, silly but dedicated to his work. i chose messages because ezio was given the task to pass on the message to desmond through himself and he wasn’t aware of it and never understood even when he died canonically. he’s also quite fast and goes back to the first beginning missions of ac2 where he delivered messages for his father before they… died… :(

God of Messages

connor: he’s naturally realllllyyyyy connected to his village and culture and stuff so i couldn’t just give him earth powers. i feel like adding community spirit into his title also allows him to be a sort of god of justice too feels self explanatory nonetheless

God of the Home and Earth - regarding hospitality, culture, community things that bring ppl together whilst also connecting to nature (hes like mother nature essentially)

edward: it would’ve been very obvious to make him god of the sea but he’s also a pirate so navigation makes the most sense. i think it also works metaphorically because when edward realised the harm he was causing he went back to fix everything - i.e he ‘navigated’ himself to a better future/legacy

shay: i don’t like making one particular line a characters whole personality but i think luck really fits. obviously luck, fortune and success doesn’t necessarily have to just be money it can be anything like the way shay rebelled against the assassins for the harm they’ve done. like you might pray to shay for luck and success against tyranny

arno: he really reminds me of Dionysus and idk if that’s because of the alcoholism… but his whole story was based on love which makes him the best suited. we see arno when he’s happy, silly and battling depression and he feels like he’s the most expressive assassin to grieve and to love

God of Emotions

bayek: bayek’s story is based on revenge for his dead son but i can’t really make him god of family since that’s basically part of connors title. i do think tho as the first assassins with aya he would have to be a karmic god if that makes sense. since the whole point of the assassins is opposing tyranny and karma is receiving the same energy that you’re giving (i.e you do bad you receive bad) the assassins would be the karma you receive for doing bad things

God of Karma - includes life, death and rebirth

Kassandra: im not putting them together cuz well deimos actually has the same name as the greek god of death (hades’ son) so that’s pretty easy to use considering they’re so similar and they have no personality as protagonists cuz they’re the same person essentially ANYWAYS if any ones the god of war its her, essentially the heroics and bravery, most alike to Ares. ik im not putting them together but kassandra feels like more of a defender and alexios is an attacker? because deimos caused lots of death but kassandra was fighting for sparta and also to reunite her family (if you choose to save them all idk i didn’t play odyssey). i said battle and not war because it can be the metaphorically sense like how kassandra was struggling with family issues like her step dad and fighting her brother

eivor: this one was kinda hard because eivor has the same theme as connor when it comes to home (especially as a viking) i do think that with all these major choices eivor had to make and also finding out they’re the reincarnation of Odin the All-Father the theme of ‘conflict’ is also really apparent in the game. i like how whether it was between relationships or choices there was a clear sense of struggle. i feel like the choices in valhalla weigh heavier much more than odyssey (personally i hate choices but yk) so i chose conflict. conflict can mean anything again it doesn’t have to be literally it can be internal as well, eivor is the deity that helps bring to light what is the best choice

Happy Halloween, everyone! To mark the occasion, I thought I’d share something I’ve been working on. You may be aware that years ago, I made a page where I translated the Japanese lyrics for POTO. (Link is below.) I’ve been meaning to update it with some corrections and fixes, and may move it to Tumblr because of some issues I’ve had with Weebly since making the page.

But recently, I learned that in the time since the show reopened in Japan after the pandemic, those in charge have made some changes to the lyrics and other aspects of the show to bring Japan’s production more in line with those in London and the US. I got an audio bootleg from Masked Lion and spent some time over the last couple of weeks listening to it and noting the changes I could identify.

My notes (far too many for your taste?)

- Auctioneer sounds more dramatic than in other performances

- Added a “Saa!” (“Now!” or “Here!”) at the end of the Prologue

- Overture is using the new track

- Reyer still insists on “Romu” (which doesn’t mean anything) over “Roma” (which is correct)

- Counterpoint in the “Hannibal” chorus when they start singing again after the ballet/instrumental seems to be missing

- Key change in ToM is now D-F like in all other productions; Japan had kept it as D-Eb (like the OLC album and early West End performances) for their whole run before Covid

- Christine seems more staccato on some notes in ToM

- Phantom still says “Bravi”/“Bravissimi” before AoM

- Phantom is more mocking on “brave young suitor” than usual — Ethan/Brad influence?

- Chorus added to title song — lyrics are “A world hidden in darkness… That is the Phantom of the Opera”

- Phantom a bit ahead of the beat in “Damn you” section of STYDI

- Magical Lasso — lines rearranged (description of Phantom first, then avoiding being caught)

- Changed line for “In which case I think our meeting is adjourned,” and possibly for Firmin’s spoken part reading Phantom’s note

- Slower tempo for first verse of “Prima Donna”

- Slower tempo for first part of “Poor Fool…” and in the ballet

- Rather Earl-like laugh after Buquet’s hanging

- Restaged orchestrations for “But his voice filled my spirit…”

- Sound effects make it seem like they did something like the restaged or new London version for the chandelier drop?

- Gets rather slow in the instrumental break for Masquerade

- Need to go over “Madame Giry’s Tale” in older boots to see if anything was changed

- Chaotic bit in Notes 2 doesn’t get as fast… I liked that it did in the older versions

- “Twisted Every Way” is slower, which I *am* glad for

- Christine says “I can’t do it,” orchestra transition is like the restaged version

- “Hide your sword now, wounded knight” bit in DJT Rehearsal may be changed?

- POTO reprise before graveyard changed to original title song lyrics

- WYWSHA second verse changed, somewhat flipped the lines

- Second “help me say goodbye” added

- “Wandering Child” now a trio; Raoul’s lines added

- Intro and many sections of “Don Juan” performance sound quite slow

- Some laughter added for Piangi and Passarino

- Octave jump in “it’s in your soul…” brought back

She moved hollowly within the room. The witches chanting somewhere behind her. Their hands dipped in large bowls of her blood. She was barely aware of where she was going, feet leading her as far from the witches as she could get. Out onto the balcony which looked over a well manicured garden.

Distantly, Elena noted there was something very artificial about it, just like this place. The Strix, she thought, a society of vampires that wanted to kill Klaus, or at least the Originals, had gotten her from- well, she didn't exactly remember when. Or how. She was sure someone had compelled her to forget. It had been after Finn had died though.

While being here wasn't pleasing, not when they took more blood than Klaus ever did, she wondered if it wasn't better. This way, Klaus would be more focused on looking for her rather than killing anyone else. Her friends would search, but a vampire named Aya had told her that any locator spell would simply show them that she was dead.

Klaus would throw a tantrum, she was sure, but she knew Damon, Bonnie and Caroline would protect Jeremy, Matt and Alaric. Maybe even Stefan. She thought of them most often, all the time even. Things that were long past and no longer made sense; Bonnie's favourite colour and Jeremy favourite brownies. She hoped that they'd grieve her and move on, she was better off dead. Better off sealed in a gilded tower, where she would bring no misery to anyone, and wouldn't care if she did.

The echoes of footsteps brought her out of her reverie, and she looked up, expecting Aya or one of the witches. How much more blood could she give before they drained her dry? She wasn't sure - well, she was. But Klaus had drained her in one go, one tear of her throat and a few minutes before she was dead.

It wasn't any of them however. This woman was new, red haired, with green eyes that seemed to stand out. There was something elegant, almost regal about her, and Elena knew she was a vampire. Probably an older one, with the way she effortlessly took up space. Power hiding beneath grace.

There was something different there too, a quality she couldn't quite put her finger on. "Hey," her voice felt flat and she cleared her throat, feeling underdressed in her henley and jeans, her worn sneakers. "Am I not supposed to be here?" There was something shameful about it, the way she had given up. She'd daggered two originals, had almost helped kill Klaus so many times, yet the fight seemed to have left her.

Was there any point in fighting when she was surrounded by vampires and witches though? They needed her alive, but alive wasn't the same thing as awake, as had been pointed out to her earlier on. "Or did you need something?"

In the past, the Shadow Queen predecessors were very active and talkative in Kaitlyn's mind. They were very skeptical of her very ambitious goal of uniting humans and shadows. The most communicative they were with Kaitlyn was during the time period with Aya. Currently, Kaitlyn's predecessors tend to be dormant within her. They don't know every detail of what Kaitlyn is doing or thinking until she either wakes them up for advice or they sense she needs immediate help.

If they were aware of every little thing going on, it would be extremely awkward, or even annoying, for all involved. So, here's some goofy scenarios!

Kaitlyn aroused by something she sees and is just acting weird in place:

Katherine: Oh goodness, that's a lot of drool! Please restrain your lust! You look like a creep with that mouth open stare. How obscene! Close your mouth at least!"

Tyrant: For the love of- Don't just stand there, do something about it! Either get it out of your system or move on! I cannot stand this ridiculous gawking and stillness!"

Hag: Hmm? So, this is the kind of stuff you're into? Fascinating. I can understand, when I was younger, I was quite curious of the unusual kinks out there. Unusual species specifically were quite.... appealing to me. hehehe"

Kaitlyn disassembling food to eat it:

Katherine: B-But you just put it all together! Why are you eating the pieces individually? Why???"

Tyrant: ...What are you doing? That is barbaric..."

Hag: Oh, is the texture too different? Ah, I see! You like how the flavor of the meat is absorbed into the bread! You like seeing how things taste before and after!"

Kaitlyn having 'private time' in nature:

Katherine: ......I understand the act, but why do you have to do it outdoors and not your bed chambers?"

Tyrant: Why not grab a mate to help you? You are wasting breeding opportunities."

Hag: Wow, you make very different noises alone than with others. Do like doing it yourself better than others, or are you just more relaxed and submissive when no one else is looking?"

Kaitlyn: S-Shut up! Just let me relieve myself in peace...."

Kaitlyn making love with someone:

Katherine: *is trying her best to respectfully ignore and be quiet despite experiencing everything going on*..........I wonder if my Henry would've liked that..."

Tyrant: Be more aggressive even in your gentle touches! You got to make them know you are in full control here!"

Hag: Have you tried using more of those shapeshifting shadow limbs? You should embrace your more exotic features for extra thrill."

Kaitlyn: I don't need backseat drivers telling me how to fuck!"

Kaitlyn trying to study/ do homework:

Katherine: Do you need help with that problem? I think you'll find the answer in paragraph five on page 300 of that green textbook. Calm down and re-read the story a few times. Take a break and come back to it if needed."

Tyrant: You are really struggling with history... Is it because you genuinely don't know or is it because the books aren't telling the truth that you know for a fact actually happened? Bah, a lot of these information is exaggerated or even outright inaccurate!"

Hag: You are so good at math! Many of those before you struggled greatly with numbers and yet here you are able to understand them just fine. Even better is you being excellent at storytelling as well making you both logical AND artistic... However, you still struggle with formal writing it seems. You seem to greatly despise doing persuasive papers or anything that requires you to use certain templates and word counts on topics of very little interest. You prefer the freedom of informal writings or even just shorthand science notes are more your style. You really love the K.I.S.S. principal that's implemented in business papers and emails when doing formal writing."

Kaitlyn drawing/playing video games/any hobby:

Katherine: Your art has improved from last time. Even your anatomy is getting better, but um... why do you fancy anthromorphs so much? There's nothing wrong with it, I was just curious. I also noticed you like to draw exaggerated expressions often and even mimic them as you do it. Why is that?"

Tyrant: Why play simulations of conquering worlds and manipulating 'sims', when you actually do it in real life? You used to do it. Even if you wish not to return to those days, I still don't understand why you are playing virtual simulations of real hobbies? Explain to me why you find sitting on your butt with a controller much more fun than actually being active? Even I wasn't glues to my throne 24/7. Get up and move! You're getting fat and weak!"

Hag: You have a beautiful voice, dearie. You love to sing, don't you? Yet you remain shy when others notice. Why hide such a lovely voice from others or behind others in choir?"
