I love cultural differences in the portrayal of zombies in movies/series.

Most western media have slow moving zombies, unfeeling, unthinking. Becoming a zombie is the same as losing the will to live, it's the ultimate example of loss of identity. Narratively they are used as a sort of hive-minded, and are most dangerous in groups (the dangers of going along without formning a personal opinion).

In most asian media becoming a zombie is the ultimate loss of control. We see people succumbing to negative emotions (anger and rage the most common one). Zombies are fast, they are terrifying on their own because of their rage, the force with which they seek to hurt. They use zombies as a symbol of greed, as the embodiment of surpressed rage.

It's the same with all types of monsters. I don't know, I just think it's really interesting how societal ideals and fears seep into our monsters

I clicked on the notes of that sibling poll and I saw your tags so I came to your blog to see your last post that you mentioned. And just, wow. I lost my older brother too and I feel the exact same way. I hate that sibling question bc I never know how to answer it either. He's been gone for many years now and it still feels weird. I often say I'm an only child bc it's been so long and that's how it feels. I also hate getting the weird "Oh I'm so sorry" from people if you tell them your brother died. It can often feel awkward and some people don't know how to handle that information, so it's almost like you're left to comfort them? I also have two step siblings, but we're not close at all, so I don't even bother mentioning them most of the time..

Anyways idk, sorry I'm rambling. But yesterday was the anniversary of my brother's death and I saw that poll and your reblog was one of the last ones and it felt like I could've written that and I just felt like I had to say something, it's all so strange, especially seeing this today. Grief is weird and complicated. I'm still rambling. I hope this wasn't too weird of me and that I haven't made you feel uncomfortable or anything, my sincerest apologies if I did.

Upon a little more looking, I saw some more of your posts about your brother. Wishing Scott a happy belated birthday! I'm sending you lots of love and big hugs. 🤍🤍🤍

Just started watching Zom 100: Bucket List of The Dead. It's not subtle about it's messaging, but let's just say I relate to the "The world is completely fucked so let's just enjoy stuff that makes us happy" and also "boy imagine if we didn't have to go to work, we could go on holiday, eat nice meals, have fun, socialise and generally just rediscover what it means to be happy."

I dunno I just relate some how 🤷‍♀️

ZOM 100: Shark Zombie and Dumb Zombies

Lol at the shark zombie walking on land using legs from people it ate. Eww but hilarious! It's the perfect boss monster for the superhero in protective shark suit costume.

The zombies are a bit dumb here though. They can't climb on top of each other to jump over the barrier. But maybe because they have not yet evolved.

I haven't seen the anime nor read the manga but this live action version is funny with a good message.

If I can't live the life I want, I'd rather be eaten by a zombie!

i’m watching “zom 100: bucket list of the dead” the anime version. i just started episode 10 and imagine my shock when the episode opens with these japanese women putting dreads in akira’s hair (who is also japanese)!! this nigga really said “from now on call me captain dreadlocks.”

you wanna guess how quickly i exited out of that shit?? like i simply can’t. i was really liking this show too but that just threw me all the way off. this on top of the character design of kosugi (akira’s former boss). the fact that they gave the evil, abusive, manipulative and exploitative character very big features (nose, lips) didn’t escape me, especially bc he’s like the only one in the whole show with that phenotype. this show’s creators are obviously very anti-black so i think i’m done with it, which is unfortunate bc i really liked it, and i really liked kencho.

In this week's episode of the Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead anime, we have a flashback scene in which a young Akira watched an episode of totally not Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger (adapted in the US as Power Rangers Ninja Storm) in which totally not Kabuto/Kuwaga Raiger beat up some goons.

We also see him dressed up as one called himself AkiRaiger.
